I purchased a leather recliner from Value City. I am overweight. I asked if it would hold up to my weight, said no problem. So I bought the most expensive extra large recliner you could buy, paid extra for extended warranty. Started to fall apart in 3 months. Would not refund $ or give me a new one. Told me 3 months to repair it as they had to get parts from China. Took 4 months for part to come in, and another month in shop to fix it. Screwed up the delivery date. Get it back, and within 2 weeks starts to fall apart again. Will never ever buy from there again.

We purchased a bedroom set from the Mishawaka location this fall. We paid to have it delivered and set up for us. They were great to work with on making payments and also to set up a delivery date and time. When they got here to deliver I expected it to take an hour at least. They had it set up and all the plastic and cardboard all cleaned up in just 40 min. I was very impressed with the service and delivery. The next day we noticed some scratches on the desk top. I called them and explained we didn't buy the warranty but wanted them to know. They sent a service tech out and he arranged to exchange for a new one. Due to conflicting schedules, they said if I want to pick it up, they would refund me $40 which they did. Very pleased and will be back this summer for our other daughter's bedroom set.

I ordered my furniture and was told that it would be delivered in 3 weeks which would be Christmas Eve. Come Christmas Eve was told that my furniture wouldn't be delivered because of mechanical problems with the truck. I had company coming for the Holiday and was told that the furniture wouldn't be delivered ‘til Thursday after Christmas. So I had to rent chairs and my guests are sitting on chairs instead of couches. And all they offer me was a $50.00 gift card. Nothing in Value City is $50.00. I don't think I will be purchasing anything else from there.

My sofa sleeper broke and wouldn't go back into the couch. A representative came out for the insurance company. I waited for a follow up; after a couple of weeks, I was told someone was still reviewing my claim and would call me. A week later, still no call, I contacted them again. This time I was told, "Sorry we didn't contact you, your merchandise protection agreement is voided because your couch had some stains". I told them, I have children. I wasn't aware of any stains and what's the purpose of having a warranty if you're not going to honor it? I explained to the rep that I had children. They said, "Sorry". If you're going to buy the furniture, don't purchase the warranty. They don't honor it anyway. They'll look for any excuse to get your money and then not help you when you need them. If the merchandise product was better, I wouldn't have had to make the complaint.

Sofa set. Great service. Low prices. They have a scratch and dent. They have a variety of furniture, contemporary and throwback. They carry furniture in many colors, most stores carry dark colors but they have red or yellow sofas, furniture. Customer-friendly. They also carry rug artwork. Their delivery service great. They take time to set up your furniture in the style it in at the store. I have been a true customer for 25 years.

Value City Furniture is no good. Paid over $4,000 for a 3 piece so called real Leather furniture, bedroom set, also 3 set tables for front room. Received it in June already chair had to be service. Chair was broken. They replaced it with a better cushion. Whoever heard of that. Here you pay all this money for a so called good set and it turns out to be crap. We've never sat on the loveseat or couch and they have to be repaired. I'm at my wits' end with this company. We've never even sat on the furniture. We also have the extended warranty. Next time I will read the reviews I telling you don't fall for the nice jingle with the nice commercial. Don't buy from them please.

Bought a couch from these guys, had a small gripe in the store when the optional ottoman for it was in the clearance section for $90 but on the floor for $200. Mentioned to the salesman that I'd like to buy the clearance item since there was nothing obviously wrong with it rather than the floor one, but that we would be back later in the day to think it over. Came back an hour later and suddenly the clearance ottoman had already "been sold" and I had the buy the $200 instead. Not a deal breaker, but very annoying; halfway convinced it wasn't actually sold they just wanted me to buy it full price.
So we buy the couch, and it's to be delivered today (a Friday). Time comes and only the ottoman shows up, so I call and ask if there's another truck coming. Speak with a woman who says she has no idea why it wasn't delivered and that she'll find out and call me back. Hour later, the explanation was that they just didn't order it like they were supposed to, and now the delivery has to be a full week later (so I have to take another day off of work). They gave me $70 back (half the delivery fee) but frankly I'm very unsatisfied. That's not even the cost of what I should've gotten the ottoman for. Won't be buying furniture from them again.

On November 28, 2016 we went into the Value City Furniture at 37001 Warren Rd, Westland, MI 48185 to purchase New Livingroom furniture. The Holiday promotion was No Tax & Free Delivery, so we purchase and Paid in Full for our selection of Livingroom furniture and set up delivery for Thursday December 1. The cashier originally was going to set it up for Wednesday November 30th, but we would not be available until Thursday. Well Tuesday night I receive a email for delivery scheduling confirmation and it says Thursday December 8th is our delivery date. I call them so that the date can be corrected, because I have already had my old furniture removed to make way for new furniture, the salesgirl/cashier tell that was the date I ask for and that I should have read the register receipt and that it could not be changed.
I wasn't at home at the time and couldn't review the receipt at that moment. We ask to speak to the Head Manager and she said she is the manager, by the way she was the Same person who we paid at the time of purchase and she also told us it's not their responsibility to make customers aware of any of their policies or procedures. We should have read the receipt, which is a register receipt. After debating with her about the deceptive way we were being handled, we said we would come in and get a refund because we had paid $1000.00 cash and the balance on our credit card.
The salesgirl/cashier/manager told us the portion pay with credit could be refunded but we could only get $200.00 in cash out of the thousand we paid in cash and we would have to wait until December 8th to get the remaining balance. So we felt that we had no other recourse but to wait until furniture would be delivered on Thursday December 8th. Oh yeah, by the way when we got home and reviewed the receipt it said delivery date is Wednesday December 7th. Now that's A 1 customer service for ya! SMH!

I bought the extended warranty, called them out to look at my furniture as it was cracking and peeling. They told me that the damage was too significant, so they would not cover it. Problem with the material, nothing I did to it, and too bad for them to patch, so not covered. Never ever buy the extended warranty, and don't buy something you want to last up to 3 years. If it doesn't they don't care. Also got the impression if it had happened within a year, they wouldn't cover it. TOO SIGNIFICANT! Why have a warranty?

Worst place to buy furniture. They cheat customer and there is no customer service at all. Don't buy anything from here. Please, please. I will cheat you send you bad furniture and no customer service. Even manager is so rude look like he is the owner of the company. I buy bed set and dining table from here. At the time of buying, they didn't give me any discount. I buy just 3 days before Columbus day, he told me if we have anything special running you will get it. We will refund your money back like if there is free delivery we will refund your delivery fee.
When they run special on that day, I asked them to get my money back. They denied me directly. Even the manager is so rude, he told us to leave the store. He was treating like he is the president of United States. I explain my problem twice a time and he didn't understand. He treated so badly I cannot tell you guys. Though the furniture is not good as well. I buy two night stand one dresser and head board and foot board. Out of that my foot board is really bad the top is moving, one of my nightstand and dresser had huge scratch and one of my nightstand is not opening properly. Overall this is the worst place to buy your furniture.

My mother needed a new sofa. She is a senior citizen and she likes to watch tv on a comfortable couch. I said "ok mother." We looked at several stores and decide to buy a couch at Value City Furniture. A few weeks had passed and she noted bugs on the couch pillows. She took her flashlight and seen bed bugs all in the pillows. She called me and I saw them also. We called customer care and they lied and told us that a exterminator would come out. Ashley said customer care agent. My mom waited for days - nothing. Then she was told to come to the store and pickup a plastic cover and to call Ashley back at 3 pm. She did call from October 13 to October 19.
The couch cost 550.00 of my hard earned money. I love my mother and only wanted her to have a nice couch to sit on. This experience has been horrible for both us. That day we went to purchase the couch was suppose to be a happy moment has turned into a horrible experience. And I hope that when this review is read by someone who has moral and a sense of right and wrong and not corporate greed will contact me. And give my mother a new couch and written apology from corporate about the service we received.

I bought a warranty for my furniture from Value City Furniture, we had a fabric problem a year ago. I called and the warranty company said it wasn't covered, after fighting with them I got nowhere. Value City Furniture finally replaced the couch. We are now having frame trouble with the loveseat and Pure Promise said it's not covered when it is. We bought the full warranty for both pieces. So we are looking at a class action lawsuit against them, this is a total ripoff and scam by Pure Promise.

I purchased a sofa on 10/6/2016 from Value City Furniture. I picked up the sofa and I was aware that I would be responsible for putting the legs on the sofa. Once I set up the sofa there were no holes for the legs. I called the Orland Park location twice and they recommended that I feel around the bottom of the couch again to find the holes to screw in the legs. They also recommended that I cut the fabric at the bottom of the couch to find the holes and if they weren't present that I would have to drill the holes in myself.
Eventually, I contacted the store manager, Ed. He was helpful and requested for a technician to come assist me. I received a text message stating that the technician would come out between 9:30am-11:30am. I missed work just to make sure that the situation was handled. I contacted corporate at 12pm and spoke with a representative. They stated that the technician would be at my location within 2 hours. The technician came and had to drill holes in the sofa. In all, I'm not satisfied and will not purchase furniture from this company again.

Sales was a great experience however the warranty is the biggest load of BS. They give you a run around to get anything fixed and cannot give you a timeline as to when pieces will be in for the repairs. There is no straight answers. If you don't report the damage within 15 days of it occurring then it will not be repaired. If you report it within the time period then the repair company will have a subcontractor contact you within 5-7 days. Then depending on their schedule will be how far out it will be for him to get to come out and estimate what the damage is. Once the damage is assessed he calls it in to the warranty company who he will talk to then as he leaves he passes the phone to you and you get left on hold for 15 mins. Next best part is they then tell you that the store will arrange the delivery and that they, the warranty company cannot tell you when the pieces will be in to fix the broken furniture.

Wasted time, gas, and energy picking out a couch for nothing. Single, full-time working mother of two, which the sales person knew. I bought furniture from Value City furniture about a year ago and I've been regretting it ever since. The staff at Value City is very unprofessional, rude, and ignorant! I will never shop there again and I recommend others not shop there as well (this is the Value City Furniture in Calumet City). If you're thinking well maybe it's just that location and their staff...WRONG! The furniture is bad also. It breaks, and it tears! I've only had this furniture since last year. I take VERY good care of my things so when I see something that just breaks or tears after such short time I questioned the company. Now let's talk about the warranty company PURE PROMISE that they recommend who promises one thing...not to fix a damn thing!
Their customer service is crap as well as their policies! If you have a spill that happened a few weeks ago they not only not fix it but, you can't fix it yourself either because it voids any future work being done on that piece of furniture unless you show proof that you paid another professional company to come out and professionally clean it for you!
Ok so I paid you almost $200 for a warranty to cover me for 5 yrs, for you to tell me that you don't clean something that's a few weeks old, I can't clean it myself and if I do I void my contract with you and I have to pay someone else to do it and show you proof? 0_O Well why did I pay for your service to begin with. You couldn't clean my couch cushion properly a year ago. You couldn't repair a tear in one of my pillows. So what can you do? I know... Nothing!!! Anyway I hope this was helpful to anyone thinking about going to Value City Furniture where nothing is of any value and if you do go and buy furniture avoid their Warranty company Pure Promise where they promise not to fix anything and piss you off instead!!!

Once they take your money, everything changes. I bought a leather sofa, love seat, bed, dresser, night stand, dining table and four chairs. Saturday I have received the table with 3 chairs and a damaged one. When they were putting the bed together they found out that the leg supports for bed are too tall, they put two and left two out and said the technician is coming Thursday to fix that and bring the missing chair (they took the damaged one back with them).
My back started hurting so bad and I left work 6 hours earlier than I was scheduled, went back home right at my appointment window 12-2 pm. No one called or showed so called at 2 pm - I was told that my window is 12-3 not 12-2. I said that's ok. No one called. I called back at 3:30 and they said they will call the driver and call me back, no one called back, so called again at 4:30 pm guess what: "The driver was not feeling well so he didn't work the whole day, and we will have to reschedule you for next week and you will get $50 for the inconvenience." To make a long story short I had to wait two weeks to get the bed straightened up with my back hurting like hell, and no $50 or any kind of apology and when I called they said, "We will deliver your message to the manager" and refused to transfer my call. Punch of lies and deceiving customers, to be honest I wish I can tell everybody how bad is the quality and not to go there ever.

I call Value City and say the bed is a piece of crap and I would take a credit toward purchasing a new one. (My first bed rails and headboard lasted 6 years with NO issues). They stated they would have to send a tech out to diagnose the issue. What's to diagnosed. I sent pictures of the broken bed to your email. They insisted then stated it would be three weeks before someone gets out to me.
Three weeks passed and no one came at all... After calling corporate and every number given to me being on hold for hours... I quit... I stepped away for about a month. Here it is July 14th and I am still waiting for a sofa I purchased in March. So the story begins that I customized a couch and a love seat (love seat makes a sofa bed) and I knew I would wait 40 days, not 4 months. I received a call at the end of March telling me to pick up my furniture so I sent my brother-in-law 30 miles to and from to find out it was only the mattress to the love seat. Then a couple weeks later I receive another call saying my furniture was in and sent my brother-in-law once again to go and find out the love seat is in but they "forgot" to order the couch!!! So at this time I am pretty upset. I call corp and we talked several days and came to an agreement that they will give me a mattress and box spring for my troubles and if I agree to keep my business with them and not ask for a refund. I was very disappointed when I received the mattress because it was exactly 3 inches thick!!! And who is gonna sleep on that?!
So anyways I am still waiting on my couch 'cause at this time the truck that hauled it to VC's warehouse is brokedown. So again I wait!!! Now... my poor brother-in-law goes to pick up this "ghost" couch to bring it home only to unwrap it and find it is busted!!! Upset again, I call VC and they said, "Hang on to that. We will deliver you a new one and pick up that one." Well I was told on July the 14th it would be in and delivered!!! Here it is July the 14th and I call to see if it was in and the girl said yes!!! Yay!!! So I asked what time would they deliver it and she said hold on... the supervisor gets on the phone and says they can't deliver it until Tuesday!!!
I said if I were the manager I would personally haul that couch myself!!! Angry I hang up and call corp. The lady I spoke with said she would call and see if they can make an exception to deliver today and he told her my couch hasn't even arrived and they don't know when it will!!! Either he is lying because he doesn't want to deliver it today or they have screwed up yet again and not ordered the couch!!! I WILL NEVER SHOP AT VC NEVER EVER EVER NOR DO I RECOMMEND IT!!!

We purchased a bonded leather couch in 2010 for $2100. By 2014 it was tearing. We purchased the warranty and it didn't cover the tearing. So we were stuck with this couch until we recently heard VCF would replace the furniture because of the tv investigation. They will not replace your couch, they give 70% of it's value. In our case that was $1500. We went to see what we could find. Instead of having the freedom to walk around and look, we were unrelentlessly stalked by a salesperson. He followed us all over the store popping up every time we looked at a couch to tell us something about it. It got to the point where we were all we could do is laugh because he wouldn't stop following us. If we didn't have the credit, we would have left and gone somewhere else.
That kind of pressure is rude and unprofessional. We told him twice that we would find him when we found something. It was such an unpleasant visit because of the way we were stalked by the salesperson. We didn't even have the privacy to talk about the pros and cons of the furniture we liked. Moral of the story... You get what you pay for. Don't expect quality furniture from this place because you won't get it. It serves a purpose if you are on a budget but don't expect it to hold up for years. Their furniture is not made that way.

I purchased a brown sectional sofa (manual reclining) in November of 2014. Within a three months, the stitching on the seating began to come undone. After five months, the arm of the soft began to pull away from the rest of the couch, and the seating had begun to lose most of its comfort. At the one year point, the arm rests lost the cushioning by flattening out significantly, and the entire sofa was literally falling apart. You can see the larger part of the sofa's 3 seating sections are pulling away from each other. The wedge, the least used portion, has a wobbly leg. My husband, who can fix anything, has had to make several repairs. After spending $1800 on a sofa, we would have expected a much better product. Attached are two pictures that were taken only 1.5 year after purchasing the sofa. I sincerely regret making this purchase. What a sincere disappointment.

I purchased a 3 piece bonded leather living set. Along with this purchase I spent several thousand other dollars on other household furniture. I purchased the Pure Promise protection plan and extended fabric protection plan as well. Since this purchase which was actually 2012 I have had to make 2 claims. The very 1st within 6 months of delivery. I paid 1299.00 for the couch itself with an additional 184.99 for fabric protection. Just last week I noticed that the bonded leather on my couch is coming apart at the seams. I filed a claim and explained that the couch is rarely stay on. I do not have pets or small children. I actually have a sitting area with other furniture that is used.
At that time I was told that bonded leather wasn't covered by the protection plan any more. I was informed that I would have to contact Value City Furniture store itself because they would have to assume the responsibility. I was told that my couch should still be covered. In fact the lady whom took my call at the warranty department told me that she was even making corporate aware of the matter. She even tried calling the local location but after an hour no answer. She assigned me a claim number and advised me to call them back to come assess the issue. She informed me that if I had any problems to inform the local store that she has already notified corporate supposedly. I asked if my warranty was still good and she explained yes but that the bonded leather repair issue is now the direct responsibility of the store.
After contacting the store I was told and very rudely told that they are not responsible. I was told several inconsistencies that I'd refer to as LIES! I was told since the warranty was purchased in 2012 that it expired 3 years after. Then I was told that since I moved to another residence since the time of purchase that the warranty became void. I was told that the warranty now only covers frame issues. I clarified at the original call that the only way the warranty was void were if I resold the furniture. Now which is it? The store associates were beyond rude and not customer friendly at all! I repeatedly said I have a claim number which no one asked for. I repeatedly said that I was told that corporate was already made aware and if any issues that the store associates should just follow up with them. Again not a single associate bothered to do so.
The guy who contacted me called me from a store in another state and rudely said "Not our problem". Without even giving me a chance to respond he hung up. Customer service is everything to me in this world of the buyers' market. I have made many purchases from this furniture store with my hard earned dollars. As a consumer the customer service was completely disrespectful! I will never again purchase anything from Value City Furniture store ever again. I could care less about a bargain, a free delivery, nor any promotion that they have. All I can say is do NOT buy bonded leather, I paid $1000 for each sofa and now have multiple tears on the cushion seating. It is a sofa, meant to be used and sit down on. It is not a piece of furniture that is light use, and although we have been very careful, I do not think this material is durable enough for use on a seat cushion. We bought a couch, loveseat, chair stadium style seating and a dining room table with chairs we picked out. It cost over 3k. The table and chairs are good. The stadium style furniture with the couch and chair that has buttons to push to open the recliners are both not good. You can't lean on the couch or arm of the loveseat which is a manual recliner. Why you may ask, because it will lean and break the reinforcements on the back of the furniture apparently. Not built good at all! We are lucky we got the insurance. If you didn't use it you get your money back after so many years I think. Well, that will never happen. The first time they were out it was because they didn't hook up the furniture to an outlet so that you can use the outlet and USB inside the couch and the chair. Note, not the manual loveseat because it didn't have one.
Also the pistons on the chair in the arms were malfunctioning. Every time you pushed the button for the recliner, the arms covering the compartment for remotes and where the outlet was kept popping in the open position and if you didn't have your arms on the chair it would stay open in the popped up position. Those pistons would take over 3 months to get to us. During that 3 months... they were out again for the chair, which was stuck in the open position and wouldn't close. Nice. The next time they were out were to finally put the pistons in and the guy said that the arm may come up a little until it is warm. It was cold that day. That never happened so they had to bring out another one. The next time they were out was because the couch arm was leaning. Before he left he tried it and the couch made a clicking noise because he said he set it to go back further down for me.
Now, two things here. One I assumed the clicking was normal because I'm not an furniture repairperson. Second, I didn't notice at the time the comparable difference it looked to the other side of the couch, but maybe I was just being picky. Assuming he knew what he was doing I went along with it. After all, it's the same guy every time. He leaves. Now I sit down on the couch that he just put a reinforcement piece in that fixed the arm of the couch and told me not to lean on it and to be careful. IT'S A COUCH. What person doesn't lean on the arm of the couch. I have older children that do it. Really? That day when I went to go get up from the couch, the first time, you all, the couch recliner part was crooked and wouldn't close properly. My husband came home from work and fixed it but, the coach will never be the same because it still has a two clicking sound and every now and again when I adjust my body it clicks.
I don't even weigh 280lbs and now it is 7 months and I hate this furniture. I like the idea of the way it looks. I like the lighting, USB, the outlets in two of the pieces, the cup holders and Bluetooth hook up but, it is the most uncomfortable furniture for someone with my type of muscular issues. On top of all that, my back started hurting and I need pillows around me to be comfortable and if I could trade it in for something else at this point I WOULD. I'm hoping to win the lottery so I can buy new furniture again, because technically, I'm going to need too in order to be happy at this point. Did I mention they won't replace it. They just keep coming out to fix it. Yeah, I'm done. I thought they changed but, sadly not. At least the guy that comes out is nice, but I spear it seems like he messes it up so he can come back.

The address was 7138 and they tried to deliver to 7128. I am very unsatisfied with this experience because this was the third time for rescheduled delivery. I had to cancel my order because I cannot continue to take off from work to get furniture delivered that never shows up or shows up at the wrong address that they made a mistake in getting correctly. I needed this furniture delivered because they made no effort to deliver at my convenience when this was the third attempt.

I purchased a bunk bed with trundle on May 1st from store on Maple Rd., Amherst after 10 years of shopping there. We schedule for pick up on May 3rd. My husband got there and questioned the number of boxes he was given as it seemed very small. He was told we were all set and as he thought we were not. After opening all boxes we realize we were missing the head and footboard. He was told after 45 minutes of arguing with three different people that "they don't know what to tell him." The bed was reordered and scheduled for free delivery on May 11th. The men came and put it together with new missing parts. The ladder was missing a step and the top of the bunk did not have an opening.
I called them back and told them to fix it. The delivery men argued with me and told me the last step on the ladder was optional. After looking at the website picture they figured out the problem and the bed was again ordered wrong. I was told someone would call me May 12 to schedule another free delivery and I receive no call. I called May 13th and I was told I was schedule for May 14th. I said no because I was gone all day and no one called me like they were suppose to. I was told I would have to wait to May 25th then. I said no they will come first thing May 14th, I will not wait another day. After almost 1 month of waiting I finally have the correct product in my house. Bottom line I will never go there again.

Purchased KFIN-Darius Sofa and Loveseat. Was SOLD on what a GREAT QUALITY couch this is. After 2 years couch cushions are shot and Value City will not stand by the product even though I purchased 5 year protection plan for $159. I was told by Salesperson that the protection plan will cover me for ANYTHING that would go wrong with the couch... That was a LIE, and I didnt check as I believed what they were telling me (yes, my bad). All I was told from customer service was that its in the warranty that cushions are only covered for 1 year (which in my opinion should be covered by manufacturer anyway... and I should be at least protected for the next 4 by my PROTECTION PLAN... or AT LEAST highlighted to you when purchasing a PROTECTION PLAN!!) To me this place is now no better than a used car dealership (apologies to used car dealers) and I will never walk in to another Value (because product is low cost built) City...

My husband and I purchased this furniture because the sales associate said it would last at least 5 years. That was the first lie. On-the-go back of our invoice it states that they would repair and/or replace if need be. When I called to have someone come out for the second time I was told that they only replace the parts, they don't replace anything... second lie. This furniture is less than a year old and the cushions need to be replaced again. All I want is for them to stand behind their merchandise. That is only the right thing to do. I will never buy anything from that company again... You live and you learn, and I learned a lesson from this experience. Value City does not stand behind the things that they sell. So Sad... So now when we have the money we'll have to buy furniture all over again, because they refuse to replace it or to give us our money back. I'M PISSED!

I had a very bad experience on the Serta warranty program with Value City. These people hide the warranty details at the time of selling the product and customer is entrapped while claiming the warranty. I would not recommend this store to buy any furniture from them. I bought a Serta Signature Mattress from them in 2012 under 10 years of Warranty. This mattress did worked out well and it got depressed in the middle. I launched the service call and they came up with the excuses that the mattress is strained and warranty is void if the mattress is strained. Don't understand this clause and was wondering whose fault it is, when the store didn't informed about this clause at the time of purchase of mattress. Lost around $650 in mattress, just because of hidden warranty clause which was not disclosed while the product was purchased.

Do not EVER purchase the "Worry Free Pure Promise" plan when you're asked to add that on to your purchases at Value City Furniture. It is an absolute SCAM! They say that they cover accidental rips/tears/gouges, but what they don't tell you is that there is a list of fine print bullet points regarding things they won't cover. When you're trying to make an important and expensive purchase, such as a sofa, all you have to go by is what the sales rep tells you. You do not have time to read a warranty agreement word for word right there on the spot. When you read that it covers all accidental wear and tear in bold print, you think, "absolutely, I want to protect this investment, so I'll do whatever it takes to do that!" When it comes time to make a claim, however, they will fight you on it and ultimately you'll lose.
Somewhere in the agreement, it even says something along the lines of, "If there's a dispute in the contract, the contract stands." LOL! Just to make sure they cover all of their bases. Also, the woman that I talked to told me it would take 7-10 min to file a claim. I told her within the first 2 minutes that the claim was due to a pet incident. She asked me maybe 10 times to repeat the details, got it all entered in the system, and then told me that we had to start over because the information was lost. 50 minutes later, the claim finally goes through, and she says, "Ma'am, this claim cannot be processed because we don't cover pet damage." I mean, come on!!! KNOW YOUR POLICIES, PEOPLE!!! Don't waste nearly an hour of my time to tell me something that you could have been upfront about in the first 2 minutes of our call. "Worry-Free Warranty" is not worry free. Don't buy it. Don't even entertain the idea for a second!!!

I was called maybe a week later and told that my delivery had been scheduled. I asked them not to deliver it and said that I pick it up from the warehouse. When I arrived at the warehouse I was told that there was a balance left on the furniture. I went to customer service and asked how could that be. The customer service representative told me that it happens quite often. People will purchase furniture and think that they paid it off but a small balance is left over. She said that maybe I didn't have all the money in my account when I charged my card. I was insulted and still had a lot of questions. For one thing, I assured her that my bank account does not have a liquidity problem. I paid my balance in full prior to the day of pick up or the furniture would not have been ordered.
Her explanation that it happens all the time was not reassurance. It only tells me that Value City Furniture has developed a pattern of charging people nominal amount of money after they paid their balance off thinking that the amount will be so small that they won't mind paying it. I watch every penny that I spend. And I didn't appreciate the way Value City held my furniture hostage seeking to bleed any little penny from me that they felt like they could get. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Three years ago, we bought what seemed to be a soft brown leather recliner. We purchased a 7-year warranty as well. Within a year of purchase, the threading under the arms of the chair (on the outside) came apart & now the open seams were over 4" long. I called to see if they could repair it and was told that it wasn't covered because it was normal "wear and tear". Needless-to-say, I was disappointed since the area isn't one you come in contact with to cause damage. Bear in mind we are a childless household and we're pushing 60. Then the recliner cable and mechanics broke the following year. Also not covered. Yep, normal wear and tear so my husband repaired it as best he could.
About a month ago, the leather on the cushions of the chair (where your back and headrests) started to flake off (sorta like Saran Wrap). The flakes got bigger (2-4 inch pieces) until we now have a 12" x 10" section that shows the fabric underneath. It's constantly flaking! I was sure this would be covered as a manufacturer's defect so I called the Warranty Department again. And yet again... Not covered! It would have had to be the "back" of the recliner (literally the back of the chair) & was told our chair isn't fabric nor is it leather so another reason not covered since our recliner is "bonded leather." And this particular issue is not warranted. Value City Furniture--- We will never step foot in your store again! What ever happened to standing behind your products & customer satisfaction.

I had the absolute worst experience dealing with Value City in Manahawkin NJ. I purchased a piece of furniture, which I was pushed into buying and that they did not have in the store, but was compared to a chair that WAS in the store (turned out to be NOTHING like it)... so all I had to go by was a picture online. When I received it a couple days later, it turned out to be the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I have ever sat on and was extremely unsatisfied. The seat was very hard and the head pillow pushed my neck forward not to mention it was a very small chair!
I had called to explain my situation to them and that I wanted to return the chair to buy something MORE expensive and was told it would be a 25 DOLLAR restock fee (which is still ridiculous since it had been less than 24 hours that I had the chair but I was okay with that.) When I went to the store to pick out a new chair, I was told that it was going to be 25% restock/delivery which came to about 70$ to return which is more than DOUBLE the original delivery price. (30$) (Return policy states 25% after three days, chair was received Sunday & I called THAT evening not to mention there is NO POLICY regarding exchanging) & to spend 70$ plus pay MORE for a chair and THEN have to spend another 30-50 $ to deliver again is extremely ridiculous.
The manager was not in and I was told to call the following day to speak with him. I spent two DAYS trying to speak with the store manager due to my dissatisfaction, which I was told he was either not in or on a bank run that happened to last several HOURS. I again showed up in the store even though I was told the manager was NOT there to which he came walking out the back. The manager Kevin ** was very rude, condescending and not the least bit helpful. I had stated that I made several phone calls wanting to speak with HIM and not the sales lady who I originally spoke with because she is not able to make the decisions and it was very rude of him to NOT return my phone calls and advised that I was ready to take my business elsewhere to which he was not apologetic and told me that would be my choice and was not the least bit concerned with keeping my business.
After going back and forth and growing more and more frustrated I decided I would NOT want to bother giving them MY money and business if they are going to give me such a hard time and not work with me. I have never been treated so disrespectfully or known a manager to be okay with losing a 500$ sale. A simple phone call back could have potentially resolved my issue but instead I got the run around from a place with no customer appreciation. I have preciously bought 1200$+ worth of furniture and have recommended the business to others but you can guarantee that from this point on I will never return to one of their stores or recommend their business to anyone I come in contact with. If you are not going to satisfy your customers and work to make them happy you should NOT be running a business or managing a store! Very unsatisfied customer!

After much difficulty in the transaction of purchasing one item being a sofa, I am still having issues in getting a full resolution with this company! The company placed unauthorized charges on my Capitol One credit card (I paid via telephone therefore no receipt received), when calling both the store and the Corporate office I was given the runaround and no one called me back.
When Capitol One contacted them they were given false information regarding the charges. They stated the charges for $105.99 was a delivery fee, despite the fact that per the store manager, Jason, my delivery would be FREE. This was confirmed by the Corporate office as well. Also, if the charges were for a delivery fee, why does the charge of $105.99 differ from Value City Furniture's delivery fee of $69? Again, my delivery fee was waived per Jason, the store manager and Corporate. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE CHARGE OF $105.99!
After speaking in great lengths with the store manager, Jason, his assistant managers Paul and Jackie, the information I was given was not fulfilled in terms of delivery fee being waived, taxes being waived as stated by Jenna, Supervisor at Corporate and the many others I have spoken with in the process. 3) When said sofa was delivered it was damaged, yes, a brand new sofa damaged. One of the legs was completely broken off and the wood that connects the base of the sofa was split in half. I addressed the issue with the delivery folks and they said I would have to contact the store.
I called the store immediately and left a message for Jason. Days later no one had returned my call, therefore I called again. Jason wasn't available so I asked for Paul, not available so I left another message. No one called me back again. The last person I spoke with that was non management indicated that the first available service or repair appointment would be a month out.
What? That is ridiculous! I just received a damaged product! They also said they did not schedule time frames, therefore they expect you to take an entire day off of work and sit around and wait. Just like they did for the delivery! Finally I called and asked for all of the above and received much run around by the individual(s) answering the phones. I was eventually able to speak to Paul, the assistant manager. He was able to get the service scheduled for a week out. He stated that he would make sure the appointment would be scheduled for after 330pm due to my work schedule. The day of the appointment I received a call from the repair tech at 930am stating that he was at my home. 930am? Far from after 330pm.
I call the store immediately and ask for Paul or Jason. Neither were available, I got the run around again. Finally Jason was able to get the technician to come back, quoted me a time frame of 330pm-530pm. After 6pm rolled around and no technician, I called the store, spoke with Paul. He stated that the tech must be behind. Not my problem! I had been waiting for hours! The technician showed up around 645pm. He didn't have proper tools to fulfill the issue so he used glue in the meantime. I have yet to hear back from them about another appointment for service to fulfill the issue. Yes, I have left messages for the manager(s). I never received any form of apology from Jason, the store manager. Paul, the assistant manager is the only one who seemed to be genuine in the matter.
I am still with a damaged sofa that when you sit on it, it has a see-saw effect. It also had deep scratches in some spots and tiny puncture marks on one of the cushions and on the back base. This sofa was not cheap, therefore there is no excuse or reason for it to be in such condition upon arrival. The unauthorized charges on my card are unacceptable! I will seek out legal assistance if the issue(s) are not fully resolved within a timely manner!

I was told that they were running about 30 minutes behind and should be at my house within an hour. At 4:30pm, I called back and this time I was told that they were two stops away but it should not be much longer because they just had to drop off 2 sectionals and nothing to assemble. I called back at 5:45 and now I was being told that I was the next stop and they should arrive in about 45 minutes.
Every time I called I was being told that they could track exactly where the delivery company was at all times. I call back at 7pm. I am being told that they were still running behind but assured me that my delivery was next and should be there very soon. She told me that she was going to personally call the delivery men and find an exact time they would be out and she would call me right back. That call never came.
Now it is 8pm, so this time I called Erik from the Acceptance Now program because he is the person that dealt with my wife and I. Since I was just getting the run around with the delivery company I thought I would give him a shot. He tells me he is going to get with the manager find out exactly where they were because he could track their exact location and would call me back within 10 minutes. Well now it is 8:30pm, no call back from Erik so I called him back. He told me he was just getting ready to call me. He said that they should be there by 9pm. He was positive of it.
Knowing that Value City closes at 9pm, I asked what if they have not arrived by then. I will have no one else to call because they will be closed. He said call me back at 8:45 and he will personally give me an update. I tried at 8:45 no answer, I get voice mail. I tried calling him 8 more times up to 9pm and not once did I get an answer. In the mean time, I am calling the delivery company again and now I am talking to a woman named Willow. She has assured me that I am the next one and they were going to be there at any minute. She said that she would have the driver’s call when they were on their way. That call never came and she also said that she was going to call me back with an update but that call did not come until 10pm and she left a voice mail because I was dealing with the Comstock Fire Department at that time. I will get to why they were at my house.
The drivers arrive at 9:30pm, 6.5 hours after my appointed time. They attempt to back their truck into my driveway and in doing so, tore the cable lines off of my telephone pole that go to Charter Communications. After getting the wires from being wrapped around their truck they parked in front of my house. Within 5 minutes I had 2 fire trucks, 2 police cars and 1 Consumers Energy truck in front of my house because they were called thinking that it was power lines that were ripped down from the pole.
The delivery drivers then bring in the first chair that I ordered and that was fine. Next they start to unload what was supposed to be my love seat and it was not the right color and it was not even the right love seat. So looking through their truck further they did not even have it. They then bring in the 72" entertainment center. Upon getting in my house I see it has 3 big gouges out of the front of it and the back had a hole punched in it. The drivers then tried to install the glass doors. They did that completely wrong. The doors will not even close.
Then there was a baggie of "extra" parts. They told me, "It is your lucky day, you get extra parts." Are you kidding? Then upon looking at my receipt instead ordering the sofa table that I was supposed to get, they duplicated the order for my chair. While all of this is going on the fireman are putting caution tape around my house and around the lines that were torn down. Charter Communications show up at midnight with 3 boom trucks and spent until 3am rehanging the lines up in front of my house.
I called this morning to the delivery company and to the Kalamazoo office. Told them both my story. Neither one acted like they cared at all. They both told me that they would get right back to me and it has been almost 3 hours. I have zero furniture in my living room, don't know when I am getting anything and tomorrow I have family arrive that will be with us for the Thanksgiving holiday and nowhere for anyone to sit. So I called the Corporate Office to let them know what was going on. They contact the Kalamazoo store manager, Tim, and I was assured that I would be getting a call back within 30 minutes, no later. If I don't hear from them in that time frame, I was to call the Corporate Office back. Well, it has been an hour and I have yet to receive a phone call. So, I will call the Corporate office back again and see what I am told this time.
Just spoke to Rich at the Corporate office. Third person I have spoken with there. Went through the entire story with him. He took down my name and phone number. Said he was going to contact the Kalamazoo office manager. He was going to speak to his own supervisor and talk to the delivery office. Just like everyone else has told me, he will call me back. The delivery dept promised me several call backs... they never followed through. Now I'm being told it will take another week. I asked to speak with the manager. A guy named Carlos was put on the phone and basically told me you will get it when we set it up no earlier. I have not met a NICE person at this place yet. They lack customer service skills and just basic niceness.

The men were rude to me after I told them they need to take the dresser back on their truck. I had to call a second time to advise they did not have me sign an invoice upon delivery. My elderly parents purchased a leather recliner as well as the 5 year "No Worry" Comprehensive Service Agreement from Value City Furniture in Toms River, NJ. After about a year, the leather started to wear and crack. I contact VCF in early June, 2015 about a repair and have been dealing with them ever since. I call regularly and get the run around every time with a new an incredible story each time. Most recently, I was told that a container with the parts was coming from China and would be here at the end of Sept. It is October and still no repair. I call and I call and have spoken to just about every customer service rep they have after waiting on hold a minimum of 30 minutes each time with no resolution, for over 4 months. Every time I call I get so frustrated, I ask to speak with a manager and every time, I'm told one will call me back. No one ever does.
They are taking advantage of the elderly who can't speak up for themselves. My parents are 90 years old and this chair issue is incredibly upsetting to them and is causing much distress. I consider this elder abuse. This company has no conscience and as I read the other reviews on this site, it appears poor customer service and sub par products are the norm. I wouldn't purchase furniture from this company ever again.

Purchased this bed with extended warranty. 4 months later, bed collapsed. On August 29, 2015, I called service department explaining situation and sent pictures. They stated this has happened before, they will order parts and contact me. Additionally, will provide the repair with a steel frame to prevent this from happening again as there has been many other repairs to this model from other customers. Four weeks of calling, nothing.
Finally, on September 25, 2015, I spoke with their supervisor, Phil. He apologized, stating he will replace with steel brackets and scheduled a date of October 1, 2015. They never called to confirm. I called that morning to confirm they said it was not scheduled. Spoke with Phil and the lies snowballed. It was scheduled for October 5, 2015. "Someone changed it in the computer," he stated. Back pedaling further, compounding more lies that are too ridiculous to repeat.
I explained I have been sleeping on a couch for over 4 weeks and I was extremely cranky and wanted service today. He offered a $100 gift card (big deal). How about paying my copays for the doctor visits after almost breaking my neck falling through a bed! Spoke to the manager of Value City Furniture of Lakewood. No help - but if I wanted to purchase more furniture I'm sure he would have done back flips for me! Finally, I spoke with the "real manager" of the service department, Mary Rose. Same result - fix it tomorrow. She also stated they could not use steel brackets for this bed, another untruth from Phil! We purchased a 3 piece sectional from Value City Furniture on 5-19-15 for $3107.46 including a 5 year warranty. Value City Furniture delivered the 3 pieces. Shortly after delivery we noticed that the right end of the sofa was crooked compared to the other end of the sofa and those of the loveseat. We asked for a technician to come out and look at it. On 8-18-15 their technician arrived and discovered two broken wooden frame components that he suspected were broken during shipment or delivery. As he left, he stated that Value City Furniture would contact me in a day or two to let me know if they would send someone to our house to repair it or if they needed to pick it up for repair.
After several days had gone by, I called them up to find out what they were going to do. At that time they said I needed to schedule a pick-up. I relayed the information their technician had provided and asked when they were going to contact me. The customer service rep simply kept saying "we can do that now". The pick-up was scheduled for 9-22-15 after I had called to follow-up on their technician's inspection. On 9-22-15, outside their stated time window, their drivers picked up the sofa (recklessly) and literally threw it in back of the warehouse truck once they had one end in the rear of the vehicle.
On 9-24-15, I called to find out when the sofa would be repaired and delivered. Their customer service representative stated it would be delivered on Saturday, 9-26-15. On Saturday afternoon I contacted Value City Furniture and asked when we could expect our furniture. They stated it would likely be 9-27 or 9-28-15 and they would give me a call to confirm. On 9-30-15 I again called their customer service department and asked when our sofa would be repaired. Their customer service representative (Ashley) states it should be ready by Tuesday or Wednesday next week (10-7 or 10-8-15).
I regret that I did not research Value City Furniture more closely before purchasing from them. They have less than a 1.5 star rating on our local Yelp page. They are not a BBB accredited business and the BBB website lists over 1000 complaints against Value City Furniture with over 600 complaints concerning problems with their product or service. We have been without our sofa for nearly a month. I have learned my lesson and will never purchase from Value City Furniture again.

First of all the manager of the Catonsville MD store is a complete liar and idiot. He should be fired! Mark my word, I will never purchase anything or walk into this store for the rest of my life. The delivery drivers literally drop the furniture on the floor loud. I not sure that downstairs neighbors appreciated that. Secondly, when taking off the plastic, they scratched the wooden feet of the sofa and love seat with the box cutters. Why?? Because they were careless. They didn't care!! Also upon inspection of the sofa one cushions was stained with a grease stain. The drivers gave us some cleaner which did not remove the grease stain.
When we called the store we were placed on hold endless times. And when we did get the manager on the phone he said he would order new feet and a replacement cushion for the one that damaged. He said it would take 2 weeks to come in. When we called back he said it would be another 2 weeks! Guess what, we never got our replacement for the damage that was cause by what he said was a third party delivery crew. This store sucks donkey **!!! Don't buy here period. Crooks!! We excitedly waited at the apartment for 10 hours for our bed, mattress and the 2 piers to come (we had to wait 2 weeks for the dresser, mirror and another piece to the piers). We called them at about 1 pm to track our order and make sure they were going to be on time - they had two stops ahead of us. Keep in mind when we called, they knew exactly who we were before we told them. It had to be delivered between 1-4. We were waiting so long, my partner fell asleep.

We bought a sectional sofa and love seat from and 4 chairs and a table from Value City Furniture (Warrensville Heights) and were told at the time of purchase that if we bought the warranty, they would come in and replace each piece of furniture free of charge for any reason whatsoever for the next 5 years. It sounded like a good deal, so we paid, I think it was $500 extra to do that, and it has been a nightmare getting them to follow up on their promise. We have had people come out to "check it out" to see if it was "bad enough". They brought furniture stain and a needle to sew up the sofa that had separated at the base. THAT was NOT what we paid for or what we were told.
This first visit happened only after about 7 angry phone calls to the store. THEN they finally, about 6 weeks later, decided they would follow up and trade out the furniture - after about 6 more angry phone calls. They first came to trade out the furniture - promising to be there before 12 noon... They came at 2:30 and had THE WRONG FURNITURE. My husband had to miss an entire day of work for these losers. Then, they had to COME BACK and though they did come in the time frame, they came with 1 piece but not the other replacement piece. THANKS PAM! So, now, we have to deal with these losers coming back AGAIN and take time off work AGAIN so that we can try a 3rd time to get our furniture replaced.
I have such anxiety because there are pieces that are still warrantied and we will have to go through all of this again at some point in the next 4 years and I seriously don't know how we'll handle it! THIS IS A NIGHTMARE!!! There is seriously no upside to purchasing furniture from these people - it's not even that much less expensive than anywhere else and the company is complete chaos with constant turnover and absolutely NO internal communication the least. I am seriously amazed that this company has continued to exist. This whole experience has been a nightmare. My advice - pay the extra money to get customer service. It is the best investment you will ever make. DO NOT BUY FROM VALUE CITY.

I am very unhappy with the service and products that I have bought from Value City Furniture. I bought a set of couches from Value city in April of 2013. The couch broke after less than a year. The couch also severely scratched my floors. The service man that came out said that these type of couches break all the time. So why would you sell furniture that breaks. So after many phone calls and service calls later, Value City decided to give me credit on the sofa not the love seat. So now I am stuck with a love seat that does not even match. This was a two month fiasco with broken furniture (that I could not sit on) also missed days at work for service guy to fix multiple times. Also for new couches to be delivered and they didn't even take the old couch they put it on the curb.
So I go shopping for furniture again in less than a year because of Value City's terrible product. Oh and I am still stuck with the love seat that I can't get credit for. So I spend more money on a sectional at the same Value City store the first time I shopped in. This set actually lasted me a little over a year. I ordered it in March of 2014 and had it delivered in April of 2014 (another month of no furniture). I don't know about anybody else but I don't have two sets of furniture that I can just swap out for my other set to get fixed. I have one living room not two.
Now it is June of 2015 and my couch broke a couple days ago. I sat down and heard a big crack. Now I can even sit on it, and on my love seat the seams are starting to come apart and has ripped further that the stuffing is coming out of it. I spoke with a Mike today and sent him pictures. He has advised me that Value City will fix the couches each at separate times and they can't pick up till the 26th of this month. That to me is unacceptable for me not to have couches for at least a month and a half again. It's ridiculous. I just want my money back. I dealt with this a year ago of not having furniture for over a 2 months and I am not willing to do it again. Why am I having this problem again? Why do you sell bad furniture? I want my money back.
I know how this will go because I did this with the other sofa Value City had to fix. They fix it and then it breaks again. They fix it and then it breaks again, then they try to fix it again. I can't afford to waste any more time or money with Value City products or service. I did this last year and I am not doing this again. I want my money back.
The couch set I have had before this lasted me and my family 8 years. Why are we having a problem with Value City Furnitures product? Please advise whoever has to be advised that I would like a response tomorrow. If we cannot come to an agreement. I will sue Value City Furniture for 3 times the amount of the two sets of furniture that I have bought from Value City. I have already spoke with my lawyer and will have papers drawn up. I am also going to file a complaint to Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. Please respond in a timely fashion.

3 hours later still no furniture, so My husband called again and was told that they would be in route in ten minutes. My husband sat around until 17:00 with no truck in site. I called and they informed me that we will get a delivery, something happened on the road. And furthermore if my furniture is not complete was they delivering to me off the truck the day before? It just didn't make sense.

I have to give credit where it is due after my rant over the ding in the foot of the sofa bed and the front of the sofa having a scratch on it. After a few phone calls, Value City Furniture in Manahawkin NJ did after all stand by and they switched out the sofa bed and replaced it. The one they replaced it the gentlemen were friendly, careful and replaced with a better sofa. The cushions which on the first sofa were very soft almost like broken in, anyway the new sofa cushions are firmer. I am very pleased with the outcome. Thank you.
Original Review: May 4, 2015
I had a bonded leather sofa bed and queen headboard and nightstand delivered. The three men that came were in a rush and had a problem putting the feet on the sofa which they put a ding in the wood along with not attaching the front feet all the way, there is a gap. Plus they put a scratch in the front, and a nail looks like ready to pop out on the side.
I was told to call service. Why do I need to call service? This is a brand new sofa. I want brand new no marks or anything, and the 2 of 3 cushions are soft. The queen headboard looks like they rushed to put together. The piece is crooked but I don't mind. It seems to be sturdy. They have VERY RUDE people working for them. They act like the customer is wrong. We want new furniture. That's what we paid for.
I should have stayed away from that store. My family members that purchased a lot of furniture from Value City Furniture had nothing but problems and still waiting for repair which should be replaced. Plus pay for ripoff warranty. THEY DO NOT STAND BY WHAT THEY SELL.

I am having my living room couch replaced with the exact same couch (through the warranty). We were given a delivery date of Saturday, April 25, 2015 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. I received a call around 3:30 p.m. stating that they had several cancellations and wanted to know if they could come early, and I told the gentlemen on the phone to give me a call back in about 10 minutes. I was going to see if I could find someone to meet them at my house. Well needless to say I had to reschedule and was guaranteed that I would be first on the list for Saturday, May 2, 2015.
On May 1, 2015, I still had not received a call regarding delivery times so I contacted the delivery office and was told that my furniture was not schedule to be delivered tomorrow as it was still on the list for the 25th. When I told the guy on the phone the issue he said "well the next time it can be delivered is May 6, 2015." I asked to speak with a manager and was placed on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up on. I had previously picked out furniture for my sitting room at Value City that I wanted to purchase after all of this got straighten out but I will be going to another store to purchase any furniture I need in the future.

The furnishing consultant indicated that I had to wait till they became available in stock and was not able to purchase the one that was the floor model. I asked to speak to a manager & was told he said that they couldn't sell me the floor model Canvas. I called back to see if I could speak to another manager & was told the same story. I explained to them that this was a gift for someone very close leaving out of town & they did not care about how much I really wanted to purchase the Canvas & when I needed it by.
I felt they didn't even care if they lost a good customer. I was going to purchase a living room set that was over $3,000 this month & now changed my mind. They didn't even offer any courtesy as a customer. The location was on 83rd & Cicero. Spoke with ** over the phone & ** was the consultant (very nice consultant). ** tried very hard to sell me the Canvas, but managers said, "NO"!!! Extremely disappointed & ANGRY! My family purchased over $5000 in furniture during 2 shopping experiences in the past year. The salesman made us feel confident with the purchase assuring us that 'absolutely' everything was covered if we purchased the 'warranty'. Apparently using the furniture was not included. The manager now has a complete idea of customer service. We are now stuck paying for living room couches that are not usable and still have to continue to pay the 'zero %' for 2 years, little consolation while we have to purchase new couches. I wouldn't buy a throw rug from VCF. Cute commercials by the way!

I called them prior to let them know I moved and have them my new address and the sales rep told me I was in their system. So today I get a call telling me they are at my house. I said "that's impossible because my door is open and we don't see you." They went to my old address. We bought a mattress with a 10 years warranty that settled over few inches a little over a year. They told us to come to the store to select a new one because they do not carry the same model anymore, so after picking a new mattress they added a delivery charge on us saying we picked a new mattress and we should pay for delivery. How come that is our responsibility? If you warranty something you should pay for it to get delivered. Of course we ended up paying since we had no choice.
We also picked a cover protector for the mattress and the salesperson entered the wrong price so was holding to the cover afraid we run away with it before we paid the extra 40 dollars. Staff was very rude including the manager that blame everything on us. At the delivery date we received the wrong mattress that we didn't order and when we call the store they blame on us saying it's our fault for miscommunicating with the salesperson... How?

I purchased what was supposed to be a full-sized futon online and had it delivered. I expected it to be closer to a full-size mattress than it was; it was about 8-9 inches smaller and too small for my purposes. The return process was effortless, but I was very angry to learn that I was taxed twice; once on the item, and also taxed on the delivery fee, both of which were not refunded (of course!). I was not told of this added tax by the salesperson, nor was it indicated during the payment transaction. I should have picked up the darn thing myself. SMH.

Also bought a metal table which we had delivered and put together. It was drilled and stripped out and never has been sturdy and solid since we purchased. Should of learned our lesson. Well 10 yrs later not much has changed. We decided on purchased living room set we liked in the store. The customer Rep spent a total of a minute all together w/ us. We purchased on February 13th and then were told it would be March 13 before our furniture arrive that it was not in stock. So we waited called a few days early to check in to see if our furniture came in early we were told it wasn't there yet.
Overall customer service and informing customers they are TERRIBLE! So the date for pick up we call that afternoon since not hearing from them only to be informed we have to wait another 2 1/2 weeks. We were upset but still patient. The day came. We went picked up our furniture up which took forever and they weren't busy. We were the only ones there. We get it home and unpacked and a piece is missing to our sofa. I then call and ask manager which he informs me to look am inform look underneath it. There was no piece. It however was in the secret compartment in the sofa. After waiting a few more days it would have been helping for someone to inform us of that. This is a terrible company. No customer skills or service. I also purchased insurance which I am hoping I won't have to use after seeing the review on their insurance. I will never buy from Value City again!

I had a delivery of a furniture set from Value City Furniture on March 6th to my new house. I have a wood door with a glass front door. The delivery guys left a knife hooked between the upper border of the doors to keep it open (the glass door has an automatic closer so can stay opened and the wood door doesn't, they could have asked for help but didn't). This knife ended up causing the front glass door to break. The delivery guys left quickly as nothing happened and even left their knife. So now my glass door is broken (out of the frame) hanging only from the door opener. I've called Value City delivery service here from Columbus, Ohio almost every day. Several times they said they were calling back and never did.
Finally on Thursday 03/19 the insurance company came to see the door and agreed on the severity and urgency of my situation but Value City still doesn't call. Even after I've called every day, they say the manager will call back but never happens. My condo association is urging me to fix this as it looks bad and the door can fall out of the frame any minute. It's the last time I buy anything from Value City. On Monday I received the call delivery would be from 3-6 pm. 5:25 on Wednesday I call the store to inquire about the delivery. I'm told I'm the last delivery of the day and the truck is running behind. If I don't get it by 5:45 to call back and they will call the driver to find out what stop they were on. Around the same time I check the online shipment status - it has changed from en-route to delivered. Imagine my surprise that it's been delivered when I've been sitting, waiting for it.
I chat with the online representative that gives me the same information that I should be patient as it's on the way. I call the store back to find out where the truck is. I'm told now that my order had been cancelled and was never on the truck. It had been cancelled last night by "someone" and cancelled was written on the contractor's paperwork so they never loaded it on the truck. It's impossible to know who made the error and possibly just cancelled the wrong order or so I'm told by the store manager, "It's one of those one in a million things." Lucky me! It's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow morning before 8 am as the very first delivery. The store manager offered to refund the delivery charge - I'm two blocks from the store. I said that was a bit of an insult for me waiting all afternoon and it was ridiculously high for 2 blocks anyway.

I think this is the worst store (the one in Novi MI) with the worst customer service I've ever seen. Let me explain why. We went to this store to buy a couch. The first thing is happened that the guy who were serving is didn't know nothing about his job. Like we were asking about the bed and he was asking me if it's full size or twin. Then he told us that mattress and box together would be $540, and when we went to register they said that box cost only $50 which comes total with mattress $400. Then the cashier charged us for delivery, which is we didn't ask for, we were picking up ourself. And it took them exactly 2 hours to return it back to our account. And all the time while we been waiting, the other girl who work at that store kept asking us to shut up our kids because she was laying on the bed and talking on the phone, and it's the same time when her friends were running around the store and making lots of noise. Ok that's past.
When they called us and my husband went to pick up our order, he asked the worker to open the package so he could see what's inside, but guy refused it saying that he was working there 10 years and he never makes mistakes. When my husband brought it home the couch was 2 different colors. I called the store and asked them to change it, but the next day they sent me the same part which is I already had.
I called them again and after 2 days they sent me right part, but it was all dirty and used. I called them back asked to change it but they said someone will call me to schedule the day when they will come and clean it (which is I don't understand why, I paid for brand new), but no one ever called me. I called them back, manager said he will call me back about bringing a new one, but he never did. I called again they said they come to change it in one week and I'm still waiting. I'll never put my step back in that store, and advice other people never to buy anything from that store.

I purchased in Value City Furniture a leather sectional sofa. We were offered insurance that will cover any damage or anything that happens to the sofa with this purchased. After a couple years the pigmented dye begun coming off from the bonded leather & the couch started to peel off. We first went to the store to get their opinion and were told that our insurance will cover the damage and advised to contact the insurance. However when we spoke to insurance they told us that our plan doesn't cover peeling instead its only covers if we spill any liquid on the couch; which was ridiculous.
In fact, I wish I had the time to read their multiple paper insurance coverage plans prior to purchasing. But this is typical among many of us since we tend not to read multiple pages of insurance coverage plan instead we tend to believe the sales people words during purchasing and sign at the end of the paper. After I was told about the coverage I went through their paper work and indeed that was the case but I first surprised why they have some liar sales people upfront that provides totally wrong information to customers. Plus regardless of the coverage I am very disappointed by the fact that I spend closely a couple thousands dollar for a brand new couch and barely used it for over two years only.
The worst part of their entire service is that we have decided to get their final opinion in what to do with our couch. In fact we asked them if they could repair for us thinking to pay for repairing. I spoke to the GM of the store and he promised me that they will be repairing our couch for free which depends on if they could get the parts where he mentioned that its very unlikely situation. I also asked him if they wouldn't be able to repair, how about if they can give us a discount in order to purchase another brand new sofa. He promised that they will look into this and advised me that he would contact me to let me know if they are able to find the parts or not.
After a few days passed by and he had not called me. Then I called the store to check the status thinking he might either still awaiting to get the parts or forgot to call me. Anyway; the lady who answered the phone told me wait until he gets the phone; after a couple minutes she told me that he is not at work. Again; after a few days I personally went back to store in order to discuss with him. At first they told me that he is here and called him over the radio. After a few minutes that they told me to wait; they came back and told me that he is not in the store. What a joke!
Anyway, before I have given up with this I have made a final attempt to reach him over the phone; of course after a few minutes they told me that he is off to work. What really excelled my disappointment is that he should not have to disappear or making lame excuses not to speak to me instead he could simply explain to me what kind of decisions that they made in regards to my request. And most of all, I had convinced my mind to take my last resort in order to purchase another one if my options phased out.
Finally, after going through this awkward experience I have decided not to purchase any more items from Value City Furniture since they have a very unpleasant customer service; though I have previously purchased other items/furniture for my house from them. I also wouldn't recommend others to buy anything from VCF.

I explained that my old mattress had been picked up by bulk trash on the day of the first delivery date on July 8th, and that I had been sleeping on the floor since then. His response was "ok" to everything I was say. I told him I felt as if his "ok" was being dismissive of my concerns and that I was being brushed off. He said that the mattress will be delivered this Friday, July 25th. When I inquired about a time, since today is 2 days prior to the delivery, he told me I have a "unique circumstance" and that he can't tell me when it will be delivered until Friday morning.
This whole process has been a nightmare and I will ensure that I tell every person I know not to purchase anything from VCF. I should have listened to the other reviews on the website about VCF and went to Sleepy's for my mattress. It may have been a few hundred dollars more, but I wouldn't have been sleeping on the floor for 2 WEEKS!

We purchased a full size bed frame for my daughter. It was delivered in May. After spending almost two months being bit relentlessly by what we thought were mosquitoes, we had an exterminator out and found that the brand new bed frame had bed bugs. I called the Value City in Mechanicsburg and spoke with the store manager who blew us off. She said that there is no way their furniture had bed bugs, and she refused to do anything. I called corporate. It took almost two weeks of dealing with corporate for them to work out any arrangements. Now, I am finding out that it's going to be another week before we even get the new bed frame. In the meantime, my daughter has no bed to sleep in. Their customer service is horrible, their products are obviously inferior if they are coming with bed bugs, and they do the bare minimum to fix the issues. I would not recommend value city to anyone. My entire family has boycotted their stores.

We went to Value City Furniture and purchased $11,000.00 worth of furniture which we paid in cash. We did this the first of April 2014. I love my furniture and I feel like we got fair prices on the furniture, but here is the problem. We got a beautiful white leather sectional. The first time they delivered it, the centerpiece was ripped and they forgot to connect the furniture. Okay, we dealt with that. In the meantime, while waiting for them to come replace the middle piece, I noticed tearing on another piece of the sofa. They have come back, replacing a piece here, a piece there, but never connecting the sofa. Twice when they have brought the pieces, they were ripped also!
Finally, after the ninth time coming back and no, I'm not kidding nine times, my husband blew up and told them, "You come get this whole sectional, and bring me one back in the box. Do not open that box until you get to my house and open it in front of me!" Okay, this happened today which is June 19, 2014, trip number ten - they got it right! The sectional is lovely. It's perfect but it took ten times to get it right and over two months!

Please be advised that peeling leather IS NOT a covered repair under Value City's extended warranty. I, like everyone else here, was advised that this warranty covers EVERYTHING! Lie, lie, lie. So the only way to find out is after the peeling occurs or be warned here. Wish I would have read this site first. Now I'm only out $179.99 for a useless warranty.

I, personally would NOT recommend THIS Value City for any reason! Unless you enjoy being lied to and really don't want furniture, you just want to pay for it. Note the date...5/17/2014, I ordered my furniture, a sectional sofa, and an entire bedroom set on 3/4/2014. The original delivery date was delayed to 3/26/2014 for the bedroom set due to it being back ordered. They delivered the sofa on 3/11/2014 and it was missing the corner of the couch, so another delivery date was set. So the 26th came and they delivered only the dresser and said the rest would be delivered on the 9th of April. So yet again, the 9th came and there was no delivery. I have to take off work to make sure I am there for the delivery and it doesn't come! I was furious, so I called and spoke to a manager, Dave, who seemed to only think it was funny that I was upset about not getting my furniture. He gave me a small refund by check for the inconvenience, thinking that would fix the problem. I thought the way he laughed was completely unacceptable and wanted someone higher up to be made aware of how the manager treated his customers.
The next day I called to talk to the general manager, Jim **, who said he was there when his manager laughed at me and he said he didn't laugh, he just didn't know how to handle your conversation. But he couldn't talk to me that day, he was leaving so he left his incompetent manager in charge. Anyways, he looked into why there was such a delay in my furniture and said he would personally take responsibility for handling my account and personally call me if there was a change in the delivery date. I let him give me the run around about the buyer in China having to ship the furniture by boat and whatever other fluff he had to say. So he was 99% confident that my furniture would be delivered on May 10. IF FOR SOME REASON it would change, he would call.
May 8, I call to confirm my delivery will show up and the gentleman on the phone says, yup, looks like your all set for the 21st. WHAT!!! Really, and I thought I was in good hands with the personal word from the general manager. What a joke. So I am still waiting on my furniture that I already paid $THOUSANDS$ in cash for back in March.
So if you are in no hurry to get your furniture, want to spend thousands and can handle ridiculous lies and meaningless promises from general managers, go to the Value City Furniture in Frederick, MD. Oh, and by the way, there is no 1-800 to call and make a complaint to, they recommend you call another franchise and have them tell you other excuses why the store is the way it is. No one is held accountable and no one cares what happens after you pay them. Good luck getting your delivery. I will most likely be updating after my bed, dresser, and nightstands. DON'T show up on Wednesday.

Went to Value City Furniture on Feb. 28th, 2014. Wanted new living room furniture. Saved for months. We saw a nice set. We decided to buy coach loveseat and recliner. We wanted the end tables also but couldn't buy them that day. We were told furniture could not be delivered until April 22nd. At the end of March, we were told May 1st. We went back in April and paid for end tables also to be delivered on May 1st and promised everything would be delivered this day. On May 1st, we only received end tables. No furniture. Promised love seat and recliner on May 7th and couch on May 20th. I went on this website and found very bad reviews. Tomorrow, I will return end tables and get money back. Go somewhere else. Thanks to everyone who wrote reviews. It helped.

I purchased leather set with a warranty for an additional $199.00 in 2010. When it came time to use my warranty (cause the leather starting peeling) they refused to honor it. Then after a party, the furniture was damaged more, warranty honored. Went to the store in Mishawaka Indiana, selected new furniture and they refused to sell me a warranty (wanted to offer me a 7 day warranty). I called Warranty Company; they say it's stores option to sell warranty. Then they tell me it's my responsibility to return old furniture to the store or I can't get my new furniture. I've paid for a forced delivery charge.......... AVOID THIS COMPANY.

First I want to start with the fact that I had a very good experience with the sales process. Lucy and I became fast friends as I was in the store at least once a week trying to figure out what furniture to buy as we were buying a bigger house and needed some upgrades. My husband and I couldn't agree on a sectional and finally with the help of Lucy decided on the ottoman from my favorite sectional (Ciera in brown) and my husband's favorite sectional (Monterey in beige). We wanted leather as we have children and wanted something that would last a long time and also be easy to clean. Lucy told us the best investment we could make is buying the fabric protection at $185, that way if any damage occurred to the sectional, it would be covered and we would get a new sectional. She said the kids could cut it with scissors, draw all over it with marker or even burn it and it would be covered. We said, how could we pass that up!
We also bought a king size mattress and a mattress cover, and a 60" arts and crafts TV cart in chocolate. We extended our delivery date of 10 days later so that it would be delivered on move in day to our new house. Delivery went perfect, all the pieces were in perfect condition. I was a happy customer.
Our children got pen on the new couch. No worries, I called the warranty in and they sent something to clean it right away. It worked. Then a year in, I noticed some significant cracking and peeling. I called the warranty and they sent someone out to look at it. The man took one look and said, "Wow, that should not be happening at all." The couch was pristine except for one spot. He took pictures and called it in and then handed the phone to me. The woman said, "Sorry not covered." She said that if it happened on the back of the couch it would be covered but not on the seating area. I thought to myself, even the technician said this shouldn't be happening and why did I buy a warranty that was supposed to cover everything only it isn't covering everything. We disputed in a written letter and it was denied again.
After further research, I found out that a lot of customers from multiple furniture stores were having the same problem because it was bonded leather. The furniture would be fine and then it would start to crack and peel and it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. Some have gone as far to sue. Quite frankly, I'm considering it. I would have bought a microfiber couch that could clean up easily with some soap and water than have a leather couch that is shedding every time we sit down.
There is no repairing it. I would not have bought an almost $200 warranty and had a couch a year later that is peeling apart. We wasted over $1000 of our hard-earned money on this product that as Lucy said was perfect for our family because the warranty covered absolutely everything. My husband called the store and was left on hold and told he would receive calls back but never did.
Everyone who walks into our house asks what happened to our couch and I let them know the story and I tell them to never buy from Value City. It's a shame, because before this incident happened, I was going into VCF regularly because I needed more furniture for our new house. At this point I wouldn't even want to replace the couch with the same one. I would want a microfiber couch.
Do not buy from VCF and if you do, do not waste your time buying "leather" and do not be tricked into buying a warranty to cover that "leather". Other countries ban this deceptive tactics in telling people to buy "leather" and selling them a warranty to protect it when they know for a fact that it is going to fall apart. I will say that our mattress and TV cart are still perfect and that was not a waste of money. Of the $3405.23 we spent, over $1000 of that was a waste of money just a year later.

I bought a dual reclining sofa and loveseat on 04/16/13. I had a problem with the sofa. It was stuck in the reclining position about 2-3 months of having it. Service guy came out said he needed a part. I waited about 3 weeks for the part. He came and fixed it. An hour after he left, it broke again. As the couch was breaking the metal underneath it was gouging my floors. On any other corner of the sofa or the loveseat there were no gouges. Also not only was the recliner broken but the mechanisms in the couch were ripping the couches open.
Spoke with Value City and with a fight they gave me a new couch. Okay, I thought the problem was done, had this couch a little bit longer and it did the same problem on the other side of the couch. So I called again. It did take me a little bit longer to get a hold of the service guy but I did. He came out and said he will have to see what Value City wants to do. Both times while the the guy was out, it told me the frame is crap, it is too small for the couch. So after waiting about a week no response from Value City, I call them on Monday. They said they are sending me a new couch, I said, "No, I want store credit for both of my couches (I knew they weren't going to give me money back so tried to compromise)." They said they were only going to give me credit for the one couch. Which I think is unreasonable.
I bought the couches in less than a year, I am going to go to a 3rd sofa, lost many days of work to meet service guy and my hardwood floors are ruined. So I just took the store credit figuring the store would work with me. Nope, I was wrong, they would not even give me half of my extended warranty back. If I'm only going to keep half the set, why do they get to keep all of the money? I think they are responsible for my floor and giving me the extra money I had to spend to buy another set. I am a young guy just starting off and I get screwed by this company all year long and had to pay more money to get a set that I hope is good in the long run. Hope you can help because my floors are ruined and they should be held responsible for selling a defective product.

When I purchased my sectional, I was specifically told by a sales associate that the warranty would cover any type of issue or accident for seven years. Within the first year I opened two claims with Uniters and both got rejected. The first one got rejected because of the word I used to describe the issue. While I provided additional information and explanation within the same call, they did not bother to make any changes in the claim. The second one apparently is not covered because of the type of leather I have. My next steps? Looking into filing a class action lawsuit and strongly recommend that everyone who experienced misleading explanation by salesmen do the same.

We purchased a couch from the Potomac Mills store Sept 2010 and were sold the protection plan assuring us that any rip, tear or stain would be covered. I guess they conveniently leave out that if their product falls apart at the seams, they will not cover it. The stitching was literally coming out of the cushions and they denied the claim. Very misleading.

We purchased a sectional leather couch in July of 2013. At that time we also purchased a $299 dollar 'warranty'. In less than a month the stitching began to come undone. In August 2013 we purchased a new mattress from Value City Furniture for my 16 year old daughter. A few weeks later she complained about bug bites on her legs, thought she got them from being outside. This went on for several weeks and I noticed blood stains smears on her sheets, but just thought she had been itching and scratching. Tonight she called me to her room because she noticed a small bug on her sheets. I scooped it up and googled bed bugs, and lo and behold it was! I thought when could this happen and we narrowed it down to the new mattress. I'm calling VCF tomorrow to have them come pick up the mattress and to have them refund my money and to pay for an exterminator. Will never buy from them ever again!

Insurance is a scam!!!!! I purchased a leather couch from Potomac Mills, VA store in January 2011. I recently had a small tear in seat part of leather couch due to stitching coming undone after owning for almost 2 years....no big deal, regular wear and tear. I had a 7-year insurance warranty that I paid over $100 for at time of purchase that was told included stains and tears/rips to couch for "normal Residential use." However, when I called to try to get repaired under insurance warranty, was told that because it was stitching, it's a warranty issue and not under Value City policy!? A rip is a rip!!!! Congratulations, the $50 it would have cost Value City to repair the 4-inch rip has cost them a customer for life. I will never buy another item from them and will make sure none of my friends or family shop at Value City ever!!! Nothing irks me more than a company that accepts payment for insurance coverage and refuses to deliver when called upon, no matter how big or small the issue.

Value City is now ripping people off by offering to finance with no credit check. However, when you add the monthly installments the total payments are 3 times more than the total cost of your purchase. They will ask for a deposit and if you try to cancel they will give you the run around and will not return the deposit. Don't fall for this trap.

When I called the store, Jeff said that it had a store warranty of five years and that it was Bicast, which he said has pieces of leather in it. He didn't care that his salesperson outright lied. I feel that is what they are told to do. They got their sale (almost $2,000.00) for that lie. I called corporate. They are offering us a discount if we buy from them again. Yeah right. Spend more money for furniture they do not stand behind and from salespersons they teach to lie for a dime. But even after numerous calls, Value City refuses to honor the warranty commitment. The staff just looked for excuses to deny the claim. As of December 27, 2012, I went to Value City in Dearborn, MI to talk directly to a (RAC) sales manager by the name of Trevor ** about my mattress sinking in the center. Mr. ** assured me he would get it taken care of by having someone come out to inspect the mattress as soon as possible, which he did not enter into the computer after multiple phone calls of talking to me. It was always the some respond from him - he could not get anyone on the phone. I guess he never intended on helping me at all! Then my husband, Jason **, got involved and he went to the store in person on January 18, 2013. He got the inspection appointment set up for them to come out to our house and have the mattress inspected by talking to someone different.
The mattress was inspected and found to be clean because we purchased all of their products to keep it protected. It was founded to be defective because it had sunk in 1 inch in the center, documented by their inspector on January 23, 2013. But the inspector did not do any measurements. He just inspected it by looking at it by visual. The inspector noted on the paperwork for someone to give us a call as soon as possible. Now as of February 2, 2013, we have not yet received a phone call from anyone from the Dearborn store. My husband has left multiple messages and no one has returned our phone calls. So my husband is going to drive to the store again in personal to talk to someone at the store on February 2, 2013.
He returned from the store and was told by Jason **, the operations manager, that the mattress has to be sunk in the center for more the 2 1/2 inches for them to take it back. Now this is not stated in our warranty about purchasing an uncomfortable sank in the center cannot be returned. We purchased a queen size mattress. It's within warranty and we took care of it, but the store is still refusing to honor our warranty by replacing the mattress, because they are telling us the model of this mattress was discontinued too. But we had just purchased it when they got it in their store in April 2012. We are not asking for money back on the mattress. We are asking for them to honor our manufacturer warranty and give us a new mattress to sleep on after purchasing a defective one from them.
The mattress had us sleeping in a V shape right next to each other every night. Immediately, we both round into the center when laying down in the bed. We are asking for money back on the extended warranty Mr. Youssef (Joe) **, consultant, added to our purchase for fire, water and wind damage we did not ask for because our homeowner's insurance covers us for any of that. Customers should be treated fairly and we are being treated like we stole something from them! I'm very unhappy with their customer service with all this trouble for making an honest purchase.
