So I got a day bed, a chair and a ottoman from VCF. 2 days past the year mart, all 3 pieces are broken. I called and I told the protection plan that I purchased was only for the outside and not the structure. I started trying to fix it myself and realize that furniture does not have any nails - it was made by a staple gun. How do you make something someone sits on out of staplers? I am very unhappy. Will never shop there again.

I literally furnished, no bed, my entire apt by picking everything out at the Arlington Heights, IL Value City furniture. I should have left when the sales guy put me through 45 minutes of the used car press, including bringing in his boss for the hard core close. But I didn't leave. Now, less than two years later, I have had to put boards under the couch cushions to keep mine, or any company's rear end from going to the floor. I live alone, no kids, no pets, seldom have guests other than my fiancee. The dining room chair cushions have come unscrewed, The cheap board that make up the chairs won't hold the screws anymore, several are stripped out. The sad fact is I paid cash, a lot of it, for this furniture. AND I GOT TAKEN. Lesson learned.

Bought couch 1 1/2 yrs ago. The couch and loveseat are ripped at seams...all four seams are coming apart. It is a defect in couch. I bought warranty as the salesman lied to me telling me that unless we damaged the couch ourselves, damage it would be cover under warranty. This isn't even damage..it's ripping at the seams. Well I guess a rip isn't covered but how else do you describe ripping at the seams? If you buy from here, expect to be lied to by salesman just so he could get business, and expect furniture to get destroyed in about a year. Don't buy the warranty because they WILL NEVER stand by it.
They asked me to email pictures as I did but they knew right away that they weren't gonna help me. The only power I have now is to NEVER EVER shop there again and I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW about the bs that they have put me through. I will tell everyone that the products are not good and the warranty means nothing! This is the 1st time and last time I will ever shop there. I have kids going to college and need lots more furniture but I will never go back there. They will give me back warranty in store credit...ha ha ha ha... What? Again they screwed me; they want me to go and spend more money there? REALLY? REALLY?
I give this place not even 1 star. Everyone must know not to go there or else you will be scammed as I was. They will lie and not do a thing for you after you purchase warranty! BUYER BEWARE!!!

I think this is the worst store (the one in Novi MI) with the worst customer service I've ever seen. Let me explain why. We went to this store to buy a couch. The first thing is happened that the guy who were serving is didn't know nothing about his job. Like we were asking about the bed and he was asking me if it's full size or twin. Then he told us that mattress and box together would be $540, and when we went to register they said that box cost only $50 which comes total with mattress $400. Then the cashier charged us for delivery, which is we didn't ask for, we were picking up ourself. And it took them exactly 2 hours to return it back to our account. And all the time while we been waiting, the other girl who work at that store kept asking us to shut up our kids because she was laying on the bed and talking on the phone, and it's the same time when her friends were running around the store and making lots of noise. Ok that's past.
When they called us and my husband went to pick up our order, he asked the worker to open the package so he could see what's inside, but guy refused it saying that he was working there 10 years and he never makes mistakes. When my husband brought it home the couch was 2 different colors. I called the store and asked them to change it, but the next day they sent me the same part which is I already had.
I called them again and after 2 days they sent me right part, but it was all dirty and used. I called them back asked to change it but they said someone will call me to schedule the day when they will come and clean it (which is I don't understand why, I paid for brand new), but no one ever called me. I called them back, manager said he will call me back about bringing a new one, but he never did. I called again they said they come to change it in one week and I'm still waiting. I'll never put my step back in that store, and advice other people never to buy anything from that store.

Ordered a sectional from them on January 10th, was told and received a confirmation email that we could pick it up on January 16th. January 15th checked the status that the couch was on back order until February 6th. Called customer service to get my money back and they said they would have to send me a cashier's check for the money but would not be able to physically mail it till Monday the 19th. It's Thursday the 15th. Hate this store. Never shopping here again.

I purchased at Value City Furniture in Middletown, NJ a leather sectional sofa. We were offered insurance that will cover any damage or anything that happens to the sofa with this purchased. After a 3 months the pigmented dye begun coming off from the bonded leather & the couch started to peel off. We called the warranty department and had somebody come out and take pictures and was told we would get a call back in which we did. They came out and replaced the leather.
4 years later, the same problem happened again. I started calling them in September, they refuse to return phone calls and you have to chase them in order to get someone out to look at the couch. 100 calls and 4 months later, they are refusing to fix the couch. They say "we do not cover normal wear and tear." They fixed it once before and now are refusing to fix it. I am going to civil court and taking out a lawsuit against Value City Furniture for the cost of my couch and my aggravation with the person I spoke to, Mike ** customer # **. I am 5 months pregnant and he spoke to me like I was a piece of garbage.

I just realized that this section existed. Back on July 2011, I went to Value City in Waldorf Maryland and applied for credit. The process went through successfully. I was approved for a high limit with no problem. I always made my payment on time. A lot of the time I would double my payment. When Comenity Bank took over they denied my credit and closed my account. For what reason - I don't know. For me this is poor business practice and it don't speak well of the company. I could see if I missed payments or they were late but that wasn't the case at all.

Value City Furniture Springdale in Cincinnati, ohio - I'm still fighting. A friend and I were going to move in together. I needed a living room and she needed a bedroom. We decided that i would use my credit for her bedroom since she had a living room. We went to Value City and was approved. The delivery date was 6 days away. The very next day after learning that another person would be moving in with us, I decided against moving in so I went to Value City to cancel the former contract and sign a new one to have my living room delivered to my old house. I specifically request that nothing be added or changed without a person coming in face to face. They allowed her to call in as if she was me. They delivered it to her as a bedroom suit. She has not paid 1 dime on it. They are holding me accountable but refuse to give me any information. She had them to come out and change damaged furniture 5 times. I'm filing lawsuit in small claims next week if situation isn't rectified. Tired!

I purchased in Value City Furniture a leather sectional sofa. We were offered insurance that will cover any damage or anything that happens to the sofa with this purchased. After a couple years the pigmented dye begun coming off from the bonded leather & the couch started to peel off. We first went to the store to get their opinion and were told that our insurance will cover the damage and advised to contact the insurance. However when we spoke to insurance they told us that our plan doesn't cover peeling instead its only covers if we spill any liquid on the couch; which was ridiculous.
In fact, I wish I had the time to read their multiple paper insurance coverage plans prior to purchasing. But this is typical among many of us since we tend not to read multiple pages of insurance coverage plan instead we tend to believe the sales people words during purchasing and sign at the end of the paper. After I was told about the coverage I went through their paper work and indeed that was the case but I first surprised why they have some liar sales people upfront that provides totally wrong information to customers. Plus regardless of the coverage I am very disappointed by the fact that I spend closely a couple thousands dollar for a brand new couch and barely used it for over two years only.
The worst part of their entire service is that we have decided to get their final opinion in what to do with our couch. In fact we asked them if they could repair for us thinking to pay for repairing. I spoke to the GM of the store and he promised me that they will be repairing our couch for free which depends on if they could get the parts where he mentioned that its very unlikely situation. I also asked him if they wouldn't be able to repair, how about if they can give us a discount in order to purchase another brand new sofa. He promised that they will look into this and advised me that he would contact me to let me know if they are able to find the parts or not.
After a few days passed by and he had not called me. Then I called the store to check the status thinking he might either still awaiting to get the parts or forgot to call me. Anyway; the lady who answered the phone told me wait until he gets the phone; after a couple minutes she told me that he is not at work. Again; after a few days I personally went back to store in order to discuss with him. At first they told me that he is here and called him over the radio. After a few minutes that they told me to wait; they came back and told me that he is not in the store. What a joke!
Anyway, before I have given up with this I have made a final attempt to reach him over the phone; of course after a few minutes they told me that he is off to work. What really excelled my disappointment is that he should not have to disappear or making lame excuses not to speak to me instead he could simply explain to me what kind of decisions that they made in regards to my request. And most of all, I had convinced my mind to take my last resort in order to purchase another one if my options phased out.
Finally, after going through this awkward experience I have decided not to purchase any more items from Value City Furniture since they have a very unpleasant customer service; though I have previously purchased other items/furniture for my house from them. I also wouldn't recommend others to buy anything from VCF.

This was at the White Marsh, Maryland location.. Store 130. I purchased a mattress/box-spring a few days ago with the hopes of picking it up at the same time. The earliest I was able to pick it up was a few days later. Took off work, went to pick it up on my own, the pick up clerk loaded the mattress up on my the top of my car, drove all the way home carried the mattress upstairs to my room to find out that it was the wrong mattress. Went back to the store, showed them the serial number of the mattress they gave me (at that point the mattress was still in my room) and they told me to bring it back in. I said "No, you're going to have someone deliver the correct mattress and pick up the wrong mattress from my house."
The assistant manager said "that will be $50 bucks". I said "No, I'm not paying for a mistake that the store made." So she gives me corporate customer service to resolve the issue on my own. Staff was rude, the pick up clerk was rude, and no one seemed to understand much of a hassle it was to return the mattress back to the store. I've worked in customer service, have dealt with bad customer service and good customer service and I must stay, this has been the worse experience I have ever encountered. Whatever you do, stay away from Value City.

I purchased a mattress on July 3rd and have yet to receive it. I have confirmed delivery with VCF 3 times and have waited at home all 3 times, only to find out that my mattress wasn't on the truck, or they didn't have the box spring, or that it was a mistake in the delivery date. I have spoken with the store manager, who promised me a delivery date, only for me to find out that the delivery date he promised had been changed. I have purchased several other large pieces of furniture from VCF, so I am not a new customer. However, I will be a LAST time customer. I will never make a purchase from VCF again. I made my purchase online, thru the New Carrolton, MD store.
The responses I was getting from the employees and manager made me so upset that I drove to the store to speak with the manager in person. I explained that my old mattress had been picked up by bulk trash on the day of the first delivery date on July 8th, and that I had been sleeping on the floor since then. His response was "ok" to everything I was say. I told him I felt as if his "ok" was being dismissive of my concerns and that I was being brushed off. He said that the mattress will be delivered this Friday, July 25th. When I inquired about a time, since today is 2 days prior to the delivery, he told me I have a "unique circumstance" and that he can't tell me when it will be delivered until Friday morning.
This whole process has been a nightmare and I will ensure that I tell every person I know not to purchase anything from VCF. I should have listened to the other reviews on the website about VCF and went to Sleepy's for my mattress. It may have been a few hundred dollars more, but I wouldn't have been sleeping on the floor for 2 WEEKS!

We purchased a full size bed frame for my daughter. It was delivered in May. After spending almost two months being bit relentlessly by what we thought were mosquitoes, we had an exterminator out and found that the brand new bed frame had bed bugs. I called the Value City in Mechanicsburg and spoke with the store manager who blew us off. She said that there is no way their furniture had bed bugs, and she refused to do anything. I called corporate. It took almost two weeks of dealing with corporate for them to work out any arrangements. Now, I am finding out that it's going to be another week before we even get the new bed frame. In the meantime, my daughter has no bed to sleep in. Their customer service is horrible, their products are obviously inferior if they are coming with bed bugs, and they do the bare minimum to fix the issues. I would not recommend value city to anyone. My entire family has boycotted their stores.

We went to Value City Furniture and purchased $11,000.00 worth of furniture which we paid in cash. We did this the first of April 2014. I love my furniture and I feel like we got fair prices on the furniture, but here is the problem. We got a beautiful white leather sectional. The first time they delivered it, the centerpiece was ripped and they forgot to connect the furniture. Okay, we dealt with that. In the meantime, while waiting for them to come replace the middle piece, I noticed tearing on another piece of the sofa. They have come back, replacing a piece here, a piece there, but never connecting the sofa. Twice when they have brought the pieces, they were ripped also!
Finally, after the ninth time coming back and no, I'm not kidding nine times, my husband blew up and told them, "You come get this whole sectional, and bring me one back in the box. Do not open that box until you get to my house and open it in front of me!" Okay, this happened today which is June 19, 2014, trip number ten - they got it right! The sectional is lovely. It's perfect but it took ten times to get it right and over two months!

I, personally would NOT recommend THIS Value City for any reason! Unless you enjoy being lied to and really don't want furniture, you just want to pay for it. Note the date...5/17/2014, I ordered my furniture, a sectional sofa, and an entire bedroom set on 3/4/2014. The original delivery date was delayed to 3/26/2014 for the bedroom set due to it being back ordered. They delivered the sofa on 3/11/2014 and it was missing the corner of the couch, so another delivery date was set. So the 26th came and they delivered only the dresser and said the rest would be delivered on the 9th of April. So yet again, the 9th came and there was no delivery. I have to take off work to make sure I am there for the delivery and it doesn't come! I was furious, so I called and spoke to a manager, Dave, who seemed to only think it was funny that I was upset about not getting my furniture. He gave me a small refund by check for the inconvenience, thinking that would fix the problem. I thought the way he laughed was completely unacceptable and wanted someone higher up to be made aware of how the manager treated his customers.
The next day I called to talk to the general manager, Jim **, who said he was there when his manager laughed at me and he said he didn't laugh, he just didn't know how to handle your conversation. But he couldn't talk to me that day, he was leaving so he left his incompetent manager in charge. Anyways, he looked into why there was such a delay in my furniture and said he would personally take responsibility for handling my account and personally call me if there was a change in the delivery date. I let him give me the run around about the buyer in China having to ship the furniture by boat and whatever other fluff he had to say. So he was 99% confident that my furniture would be delivered on May 10. IF FOR SOME REASON it would change, he would call.
May 8, I call to confirm my delivery will show up and the gentleman on the phone says, yup, looks like your all set for the 21st. WHAT!!! Really, and I thought I was in good hands with the personal word from the general manager. What a joke. So I am still waiting on my furniture that I already paid $THOUSANDS$ in cash for back in March.
So if you are in no hurry to get your furniture, want to spend thousands and can handle ridiculous lies and meaningless promises from general managers, go to the Value City Furniture in Frederick, MD. Oh, and by the way, there is no 1-800 to call and make a complaint to, they recommend you call another franchise and have them tell you other excuses why the store is the way it is. No one is held accountable and no one cares what happens after you pay them. Good luck getting your delivery. I will most likely be updating after my bed, dresser, and nightstands. DON'T show up on Wednesday.

First I want to start with the fact that I had a very good experience with the sales process. Lucy and I became fast friends as I was in the store at least once a week trying to figure out what furniture to buy as we were buying a bigger house and needed some upgrades. My husband and I couldn't agree on a sectional and finally with the help of Lucy decided on the ottoman from my favorite sectional (Ciera in brown) and my husband's favorite sectional (Monterey in beige). We wanted leather as we have children and wanted something that would last a long time and also be easy to clean. Lucy told us the best investment we could make is buying the fabric protection at $185, that way if any damage occurred to the sectional, it would be covered and we would get a new sectional. She said the kids could cut it with scissors, draw all over it with marker or even burn it and it would be covered. We said, how could we pass that up!
We also bought a king size mattress and a mattress cover, and a 60" arts and crafts TV cart in chocolate. We extended our delivery date of 10 days later so that it would be delivered on move in day to our new house. Delivery went perfect, all the pieces were in perfect condition. I was a happy customer.
Our children got pen on the new couch. No worries, I called the warranty in and they sent something to clean it right away. It worked. Then a year in, I noticed some significant cracking and peeling. I called the warranty and they sent someone out to look at it. The man took one look and said, "Wow, that should not be happening at all." The couch was pristine except for one spot. He took pictures and called it in and then handed the phone to me. The woman said, "Sorry not covered." She said that if it happened on the back of the couch it would be covered but not on the seating area. I thought to myself, even the technician said this shouldn't be happening and why did I buy a warranty that was supposed to cover everything only it isn't covering everything. We disputed in a written letter and it was denied again.
After further research, I found out that a lot of customers from multiple furniture stores were having the same problem because it was bonded leather. The furniture would be fine and then it would start to crack and peel and it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. Some have gone as far to sue. Quite frankly, I'm considering it. I would have bought a microfiber couch that could clean up easily with some soap and water than have a leather couch that is shedding every time we sit down.
There is no repairing it. I would not have bought an almost $200 warranty and had a couch a year later that is peeling apart. We wasted over $1000 of our hard-earned money on this product that as Lucy said was perfect for our family because the warranty covered absolutely everything. My husband called the store and was left on hold and told he would receive calls back but never did.
Everyone who walks into our house asks what happened to our couch and I let them know the story and I tell them to never buy from Value City. It's a shame, because before this incident happened, I was going into VCF regularly because I needed more furniture for our new house. At this point I wouldn't even want to replace the couch with the same one. I would want a microfiber couch.
Do not buy from VCF and if you do, do not waste your time buying "leather" and do not be tricked into buying a warranty to cover that "leather". Other countries ban this deceptive tactics in telling people to buy "leather" and selling them a warranty to protect it when they know for a fact that it is going to fall apart. I will say that our mattress and TV cart are still perfect and that was not a waste of money. Of the $3405.23 we spent, over $1000 of that was a waste of money just a year later.

I bought a dual reclining sofa and loveseat on 04/16/13. I had a problem with the sofa. It was stuck in the reclining position about 2-3 months of having it. Service guy came out said he needed a part. I waited about 3 weeks for the part. He came and fixed it. An hour after he left, it broke again. As the couch was breaking the metal underneath it was gouging my floors. On any other corner of the sofa or the loveseat there were no gouges. Also not only was the recliner broken but the mechanisms in the couch were ripping the couches open.
Spoke with Value City and with a fight they gave me a new couch. Okay, I thought the problem was done, had this couch a little bit longer and it did the same problem on the other side of the couch. So I called again. It did take me a little bit longer to get a hold of the service guy but I did. He came out and said he will have to see what Value City wants to do. Both times while the the guy was out, it told me the frame is crap, it is too small for the couch. So after waiting about a week no response from Value City, I call them on Monday. They said they are sending me a new couch, I said, "No, I want store credit for both of my couches (I knew they weren't going to give me money back so tried to compromise)." They said they were only going to give me credit for the one couch. Which I think is unreasonable.
I bought the couches in less than a year, I am going to go to a 3rd sofa, lost many days of work to meet service guy and my hardwood floors are ruined. So I just took the store credit figuring the store would work with me. Nope, I was wrong, they would not even give me half of my extended warranty back. If I'm only going to keep half the set, why do they get to keep all of the money? I think they are responsible for my floor and giving me the extra money I had to spend to buy another set. I am a young guy just starting off and I get screwed by this company all year long and had to pay more money to get a set that I hope is good in the long run. Hope you can help because my floors are ruined and they should be held responsible for selling a defective product.

When I purchased my sectional, I was specifically told by a sales associate that the warranty would cover any type of issue or accident for seven years. Within the first year I opened two claims with Uniters and both got rejected. The first one got rejected because of the word I used to describe the issue. While I provided additional information and explanation within the same call, they did not bother to make any changes in the claim. The second one apparently is not covered because of the type of leather I have. My next steps? Looking into filing a class action lawsuit and strongly recommend that everyone who experienced misleading explanation by salesmen do the same.

This went on for several weeks and I noticed blood stains smears on her sheets, but just thought she had been itching and scratching. Tonight she called me to her room because she noticed a small bug on her sheets. I scooped it up and googled bed bugs, and lo and behold it was! I thought when could this happen and we narrowed it down to the new mattress. I'm calling VCF tomorrow to have them come pick up the mattress and to have them refund my money and to pay for an exterminator. Will never buy from them ever again!

Insurance is a scam!!!!! I purchased a leather couch from Potomac Mills, VA store in January 2011. I recently had a small tear in seat part of leather couch due to stitching coming undone after owning for almost 2 years....no big deal, regular wear and tear. I had a 7-year insurance warranty that I paid over $100 for at time of purchase that was told included stains and tears/rips to couch for "normal Residential use." However, when I called to try to get repaired under insurance warranty, was told that because it was stitching, it's a warranty issue and not under Value City policy!? A rip is a rip!!!! Congratulations, the $50 it would have cost Value City to repair the 4-inch rip has cost them a customer for life. I will never buy another item from them and will make sure none of my friends or family shop at Value City ever!!! Nothing irks me more than a company that accepts payment for insurance coverage and refuses to deliver when called upon, no matter how big or small the issue.

Value City is now ripping people off by offering to finance with no credit check. However, when you add the monthly installments the total payments are 3 times more than the total cost of your purchase. They will ask for a deposit and if you try to cancel they will give you the run around and will not return the deposit. Don't fall for this trap.

In May of 2007 we bought a three piece living room set. We were told that it was 100% leather. In 2012 I noticed it started peeling. The chair looks horrible and the couch and loveseat are peeling. When I called the store, Jeff said that it had a store warranty of five years and that it was Bicast, which he said has pieces of leather in it. He didn't care that his salesperson outright lied. I feel that is what they are told to do. They got their sale (almost $2,000.00) for that lie. I called corporate. They are offering us a discount if we buy from them again. Yeah right. Spend more money for furniture they do not stand behind and from salespersons they teach to lie for a dime. I told corporate that we, as consumers, should know what we are purchasing and then make our decisions based on accurate information, not be duped into buying what they are selling at prices that do not match the quality of the product.

I will never buy from this store ever again, and I will make sure that anyone I care for also boycotts this cheap, crappy business. They sold us the warranty on a sofa stating that it will cover the sofa for 7 years! The sofa is falling apart in 3 years, just from normal use. We tried to get it fixed through their warranty. But even after numerous calls, Value City refuses to honor the warranty commitment. The staff just looked for excuses to deny the claim. Their excuse was that we did not notify them immediately after the appearance of damage. It is not worth my time to spend hours over a $150 warranty charge. I will consider it a robbery and a loss. The $700 sofa will create more junk in the landfill, and I am not proud of this.

As of December 27, 2012, I went to Value City in Dearborn, MI to talk directly to a (RAC) sales manager by the name of Trevor ** about my mattress sinking in the center. Mr. ** assured me he would get it taken care of by having someone come out to inspect the mattress as soon as possible, which he did not enter into the computer after multiple phone calls of talking to me. It was always the some respond from him - he could not get anyone on the phone. I guess he never intended on helping me at all! Then my husband, Jason **, got involved and he went to the store in person on January 18, 2013. He got the inspection appointment set up for them to come out to our house and have the mattress inspected by talking to someone different.
The mattress was inspected and found to be clean because we purchased all of their products to keep it protected. It was founded to be defective because it had sunk in 1 inch in the center, documented by their inspector on January 23, 2013. But the inspector did not do any measurements. He just inspected it by looking at it by visual. The inspector noted on the paperwork for someone to give us a call as soon as possible. Now as of February 2, 2013, we have not yet received a phone call from anyone from the Dearborn store. My husband has left multiple messages and no one has returned our phone calls. So my husband is going to drive to the store again in personal to talk to someone at the store on February 2, 2013.
He returned from the store and was told by Jason **, the operations manager, that the mattress has to be sunk in the center for more the 2 1/2 inches for them to take it back. Now this is not stated in our warranty about purchasing an uncomfortable sank in the center cannot be returned. We purchased a queen size mattress. It's within warranty and we took care of it, but the store is still refusing to honor our warranty by replacing the mattress, because they are telling us the model of this mattress was discontinued too. But we had just purchased it when they got it in their store in April 2012. We are not asking for money back on the mattress. We are asking for them to honor our manufacturer warranty and give us a new mattress to sleep on after purchasing a defective one from them.
The mattress had us sleeping in a V shape right next to each other every night. Immediately, we both round into the center when laying down in the bed. We are asking for money back on the extended warranty Mr. Youssef (Joe) **, consultant, added to our purchase for fire, water and wind damage we did not ask for because our homeowner's insurance covers us for any of that. Customers should be treated fairly and we are being treated like we stole something from them! I'm very unhappy with their customer service with all this trouble for making an honest purchase.

The sleeper sofa was then sent out to be repaired at their facility. It was fixed, but the problem occurred again shortly after. I called for service and when the repairman came, he told me that when I'm having problem with it, just flip the couch over and hammer down this certain piece of metal. Shortly after, the sleeper sofa needed to be repaired again. I called in mid-November. It is now mid-January and I have not heard back from Value City regarding the repair of my sleeper sofa. I constantly told them that the sleeper sofa is unserviceable and is defective. They refuse to replace the sofa and are just waiting until the warranty expires.

My girlfriend and I recently went to the Value City Furniture in Richmond, VA. There we purchased a new couch, chair and ottoman. When we were finalizing the sale and setting up delivery, we explicitly told our salesman and yes, I said salesman and not sales "professional" or consultant" that we lived on the fourth floor of a converted warehouse in the downtown district. We were very explicit in telling him that our building had only a standard passenger elevator which in itself is on the smaller end, as elevators go. We were assured that their moving "professionals" would have no problem getting our 120 inch long extra deep couch in the elevator because and I quote to the best of my abilities, "They have ways of turning and flipping it to make it fit." My girlfriend and I both let out a small laugh at the comment and were immediately assured that if they couldn't get it in the elevator that they would take it up the stairs.
After waiting two weeks and taking a day off work (because they only have weekday deliveries), the delivery day had finally only to have the delivery men take one look at the elevator and say it would not fit and they were not permitted to take the couch up more than three flights of stairs. They promptly put the couch back on their truck and got back to their schedule.
If you ever have the displeasure of dealing with these people, please keep in mind they are lazy and not willing to work with you. They will feed you any line of you know what to get you to buy and then do nothing to follow up or make sure they can deliver on their promises or rectify their mistakes/lies. There is no reason anyone should be subjected to this waste of time or aggregation. Makes me wonder how it was so easy for us to recognize that this over-sized couch would never fit in an elevator but these people who do this for a living could not imagine a world where this couch would not fit.

I live in an affluent area in the western part of the state of Missouri. I recently visited one of your stores located as indicated above. Their contact no. as stated. When buying furniture at your establishment , your salesman who greeted us was very courteous and respectful to both my wife and I as customers. During the business transaction and eventual ticket write-up, Mr. Tim *** was a perfect gentleman throughout, rendering his services to us as customers. However, the friendly atmosphere rapidly changed when we arrived at the service counter to pay for the purchased items.
There was a young blond hair female who apparently was in charge of the financial transaction in finalizing the sale. Unlike Mr. ***, her demeanor was found to be very rude and unprofessional in nature. She was very insulting and boisterous to my wife and I. Her attitude was found to be totally unacceptable and unmerited and will certainly me from doing business with your store again. You would think holding sale transaction of almost $600 in her hands would have merit some kind of respect, no matter what the race or ethnic background. This letter is being written with any intention or though of retaliation in mind, however, I do think that your store manager need to screen his employees a little better to prevent this kind of conduct from becoming common place in his store in the future.

No one ever made an attempt to correct that error.
When I called the store regarding my order, no one ever called back. I had to go to the store, re-place the order and pick up the furniture myself. After one month, I called regarding the TV to no avail. I did get a call back, after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, that the TV was to be delivered. Again it never came. I have tried their Corporate office customer service and still no one will return my calls. This has become a matter of principle and very poor business conduct. I cannot believe a company would be so inept. It is not right that a large company can con the American public and get away with it. I over paid for furniture because the TV would even out the cost but never received it. I also think it was a way to scam people into buying furniture.

Last June, I purchased a leather-reclining sofa and a reclining chair. In February, I notified the company regarding the fact that the center of the sofa had sunken down about six inches from the other two cushions and that what feels like wood is felt between the cushions. It makes sitting on the sofa most uncomfortable. Anyone sitting in the center of the sofa appears to be practically sitting on the floor.
It is just two adults here, no children, so abuse of the furniture is not an issue. I called the Value City Furniture Store where the purchase was made, so far, three times. Each time, I am told that the person I need to speak with is unavailable and will return the call. I have not yet received that call. Repeated emails to Lane furniture go unanswered and a hand written letter as well. The purchase was made with a Visa credit card. Please feel free to contact me for any further information.

The Simmons mattress was delivered to my house on July 8, 2008. However, we discovered on that same night that the mattress delivered had some bed bugs and/or insects that looks like mosquitos coming from the small holes in its pillow top.
The next morning July 9, 2008, we went to the VCF store to report the incident, one of the associates (Nora) guided us to an office and made some calls to VCF corporate office. After waiting for an hour, Nora gave us the Customer Service No. and told us that a lady named Valerie would help us.
When we called Valerie and she told us that they need to inspect the mattress first and that they would be sending a Value City Inspector. The inspector did go to my house and indeed saw bugs/insects coming out/from the small holes of the pillow top. (although no report was left or given) The next day, when we called Valerie, she was then denying liability and claimed that the bugs were from my house and that they wont replace the mattress. I just bought my house and completed the inspection, we were staying there for the past week and there were no bugs until the mattress was delivered.

So on 4/24, I went back to value city to return the item and because I didn't have my reciept, they weren't gonna let me do anything, no evev exchange, no refund, no store credit.
But then, the manager (kim) allowed me to make an even exchange, I got a shirt for my daughter, (who wasn't with me at the time) She didn't like the shirt, at all, so I thought o.k., now I have a receipt, and it is way less than 30 days, so it shouldn't be a problem returning this time. They still gave me a hard time, so finally, I gave in and picked something else for my daughter, this time it was about $9 and some change.
The cashier then looked at me and said, your gonna loose about $4) and I asked her how many choices do I have? and she turned and continued with what she was doing. That was not o.k. They should have just given me the remaining $4 because after all it is mine. The ordeal became so out of control that they called the police on me, but they have my money.
