We have two Ionic Breeze Quadra air purifiers plus an earlier model air purifier from The Sharper Image. My breathing problems really began after purchasing the two additional Ionic Breeze Quadras. The units have since failed to work.

I have been using the Ionic Breeze for years. I LOVE it. I have two actually, and they keep the house smelling great. I have cats and no one ever knows when they come to visit. I hope the item is safe after reading some complaints. But I think it is an amazing product otherwise. Consequences: None that I know of. I have been using them for years. It said on the website to let you know good or bad. I'm sure you mostly get bad. So I wanted to let you know that my experience has been good, so far.

I am upset that I was not informed about the class action suit filed because of the Ionic Air Purifier. I purchased two of them. I had no idea that they did not do what was advertised. They are not quiet, at least mine isn’t - one of them hisses. I paid for them at retail price. If they are not doing what they are supposed to do, purify the air, then I have been misled, and I would have purchased one that would have been effective. I have no idea what the damages are for misleading advertising and selling a product that does not perform as advertised. Since one is in a bedroom and the other is in my home office. I assumed that they were cleaning the air and if they are not then I want a refund of the purchase price.

I have (2) $150 gift/reward cards to Sharper Image. When tried to use one earlier this year, I was told that I would have to spend $300 in order to get $150 off using the card. When I refused to do this, I was told that this is only temporary while the company reorganizes. I should hold onto it - as I would soon be able to redeem the card as I had done with other cards for many years in the past. It has been months. Every once in awhile I check the website. Nothing.

A few years ago, we purchased 2 Ionic Breeze machines for obvious reasons. After some time, I started having anxiety attacks with difficulty breathing. My husband got into a conversation with a co-worker (who exhibited similar symptoms) about these attacks and she told him that her Dr. had asked if she owned an Ionic Breeze...which she did. She was instructed to stop using it and see if it made a difference on her attacks. It did. We tried the same and almost immediately my attacks subsided. We took the machines back to the store where we purchased them. They would not give us our money back, just a Merchandise Certificate for the purchase amount. We have since tried to use that voucher but were told it could not be used due to the legal problems they were having. I would like to know where I can go or to whom I can speak about either getting monetary equivalent in merchandise or preferably a full refund. The amount I am out for these is $568.23. Any help or suggestions you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

In Dec. 2007, I bought two Ionic Breeze Quadra and also bought a 3 year extended warranty. I've had to return one of them 3 times and the other one 4 times for failure to continue to work. They are both NOW not working at all and I am unable to get in touch with anyone to have them replaced OR get my money back. PLEASE HELP!

I bought two Ionic Breeze GPs from The Sharper Image store at the Roosevelt Field location in Long Island, NY back in March. I bought the extended warranties, paying about 40 something dollars for each warranty, which were supposed to cover me for two years. I found out recently that the company went out of business.
Their website offers absolutely no information about getting new parts for the machines, which i think i may need, no phone number or contact information for anyone at the company, and no mention about those customers, such as myself, who hold warranties for things bought from them.
I am concerned about how I would go about acquiring the parts that i need for the machines, and even more concerned about the fact that there seems to be no way for me to get replacement machines if they were to break, even though I paid good money for warranties.
Is there any way I could get my money back for the warranties I paid for, at the very least?
Thank you for your help.
my air is not purified. And, I seem to have just lost the money i paid for extended warranties, which was almost a hundred dollars.

I bought the Ionic Breeze air purifier with a 5-year warranty. It quit working so I called Sharper Image. I was told the unit would be replaced if I paid shipping by giving my credit card number. I received a UPS shipping label. I shipped the unit and a week later it was returned as UNDELIVERABLE - out of business. Is there another way to get the unit replaced or get my $12 shippong back?
I have the expensive Ionic Breeze with warranty still in effect but no company to honor the warranty. Plus, I'm out $12 for the shipping.

I feel betrayed that a product such as the Iconic Air Purifier by Sharper Image did not produce the results as advertised. I ahve surchased over $1000.00 dollars. Now I understand they have a libel suit against their product. How and when will I be compensated let alone my family's health!

Used product for approximately 6 mons. then RED light came on indicating it was time to clean. Cleaned product according to instructions but RED light comes back on. Product is not ionizing. We would like a refund, a repair or a new replacement. WE have 2 of this model which we purchased in March 2008. Both do the same thing.

I went on the Sharper Image site today because I wanted to find out whom I could contact to find out what can be done about my unit. I purchased two Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers a while back. To tell you the truth I work two jobs and have very little time. My Ionic Breeze stopped working maybe just short of one year after purchasing it. It has taken me a little bit to get moving on who can resolve this issue for me. Apparently, from what I'm now reading I should be glad that it broke, if it is true that it can actually harm us.
Both my husband and daughter are severly asthmatic. I wonder if this machine could have been the reason my daughter had increasingly more issues with her asthma. I never put it together. The machine has been off for a while. I told my son to turn off his unit and not to use it anymore. I also feel in light of the reports that I would like to return the units or at last receive a partial refund. I'm extremely disappointed in the unit.
I left it in the corner, cleaned it as described in the manual, not to mention paid a lot of money for these two units. I feel it should not have broken so quickly! If there is a phone number that I can call to contact someone at Sharper Image that might be able to help me I would appreciate it, but I'm guessing if they are filing for bankruptcy there isn't much they will do for me.

I purchased one of the Quadra air purifiers 3 years ago because I battled terribly with allergies which would lead to bronchitis several times a year. I would be sick for months and usually end up missing work for a week or so at a time. Since I purchased the Quadra, my allergies have improved and I have NOT had bronchitis! I know this is all due to the Quadra.
I absolutely love these air purifiers and think they are the best product on the market. I moved into a larger home and am disappointed that I'm not able to purchase anymore purifiers.

Purchased 5 sharper image ionic breeze' thru info commercial. Total 759.88. Paid off early Jan 08. Called in May 08. 1 making horrible noise, the other lights just flash on and off. They said I needed to pay a past due balance of 34.75. Then I could call and they would pay shipping to return the 2 for repair. Now they are out of business.. all phone lines down. Cleaned as required and 700 bucks later, 2 are unusable. Not sure when the other 3 will go??
Financially out 152 bucks x 2 = $304 loss. will enter another complaint when the other 3 go out.

About four or five years ago I purchased two units of Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Air Purifier. I gave those two units to my mother due to her all year round allergy thinking that it would benefit her and might improve her condition based on what they've advertised on television. About a year ago, I purchased four more units of air purifier and gave them to my sister and my father-in-law as a gift.
Three of the units started malfunctioning and tried to get hold of customer service but the number I'm calling no longer exist. So I decided to go online and found out that they had filed for bankruptcy. I've seen a lot of customer complaints about the product and that's when I realized about my mother's allergy as well as my father-in-law's condition that became worse after using the product.

I adore my Sharper Image ionic breeze and use 3 of them all over the house. I have a cat and 2 dogs and the ionic breeze works so efficiently and quietly. I wanted to buy another only to discover the company has gone bankrupt. This is outsrageous and every effort should be made to help this pioneering company. This is the kind of innovative, imaginative engineering we desperately need to surmount the global warming challeng.

I'm reading these stories about the Sharper Image Ionic breeze air purifier & it worries me a bit. I have had one I my bed room for the last three years & now I'm reading it could cause health problems!! How do I find out what this thing has done to me & my family? Are we at risk? If so who do I talk to with Sharper Image?
I don't think anything is wrong but will something affect my family years from now because of this? I have a wife & two kids who have lived next to the purifier for three years!

I can not say if anything bad happened as I have not experience anything different. I bought it thinking my chronic cough was from the dirt that comes into my apartment since it sits on a highly traveled road. I would dust black particles on my window sills as well as other places. I bought the product thinking it will help my cough I developed. Yes the filter would be black when I would clean it and I cleaned it often. I didn't feel there was a difference in my cough so I stopped using it. So this expensive $200.00+ item is sitting somewhere in my studio apartment. I was planning on using it for the cat room at my fiance's place but now just reading this today (8/28/08) I don't want to get them sick (their bills are already high enough).
As for my cough, no doctor can figure out why I cough, I've had numerous test done, for numerous years and I still cough. No it is NOT asthma as I have been tested several times with several doctors.

I have been using the Ionic breeze since late 2001. I even upgraded to the GP Quade 2 of them in 2005. I have asmtha and have notice my semptoms getting worse. I too have shut my units down but I am not sure as to what damage has been done.
My Breathing had gotten wore so after I shut them down I purchased a Honeywell air cleaner. I feel better some days but other I feel very ill and break out in this rash , not sure yet if this was the cause. I am am however very concerned about the long term effects this could have on me.

I was given a credit by the above store on April 11, 2008 for a faulty microdermabrasion machine. The credit is for $54.07. I went to use the credit on August 20, 2008 to find that the store had closed.
I now still have a credit slip for $54.07 and am not able to redeem it. I would like a cash refund.

I bought an ionic breeze about 5 years ago. My husband kept saying he didn't believe it was working but those metal bars in it were getting dirty so I said it had to be doing something. Well a year ago we came home from being out and it had caught fire. Sharper Image would not would not do anything because they said we didn't have a warranty. On top of that we fould out that when we first bought it they had taken more money out of our bank account than was agreed.
Most importantly we could have lost our home to fire. Thankfully we did not.

I bought the Hybrid GP with Germicidal air purifier. It has not worked for the last couple of months and I took an extended warrantee on it. It cost me close to 500 dollars. I have an immune deficiency and need an air purifier. Now i'm stuck with a broken piece of junk. I called Sharper Image and get no answer.

I currently own 7 Ionic breeze units. These are wonderful units. The oldest one I purchased in 1999 and the newest 2 I purchased in 2007. I wouldn't trade them for anything. They pull quite a bit of junk out of the air and remove odors. I have also owned oreck and holms, which I HATE. The oreck is useless it doesn't remove any particulate from the air and the smells linger- I had it in the room with the litter box. The ionic breeze beat it hands down. The holms is ok, but the cost of the filter replacement became prohibitive.
I have had asthema for a number of years, and having the ionic breeze units in the house have reduced the constant need for emergency inhalers and nebulizer use.
In the past year we installed a unit in our office which is in a historic building where coal had been burned for almost 100 years. The ionic breeze removes so much coal dust in a 3 day period it is unbeleivable. We clean the unit every 3-5 days and are very pleased with it.

I purchased two Ionic Breeze units about seven years ago and used both in our large bedroom to cut down on dust etc. I thought they were working pretty good, but there always seemed to be a lot of dust still in the air. After about two years, one unit had quit operating. The second unit quit after four years of operation.
I contacted Sharper Image and was told they were both still under warranty. I was sent two RMA (Return Materials Authorization) tags and shipping labels. I sent the units back and they sent me two new units with ozone guards. The first ones did not have the ozone guards. After I had these units about three to four months, one of these units failed to operate. The other one is still operating.
After reading the testimonials and problems from other people, I decided to shut it down. My wife has been experiencing breathing and eye irritations for some time now and I thought it was from more dust and pollen in the air and that I needed two filters in operation. When I decided to send the non-working unit back, I found out about this report, etc. Now, I am thinking that my wife's problems may be coming from these units, rather than the dusty air or pollen; especially since she seems to have a more pronounced irritation in the bedroom. I will now leave the second unit off for a while and see if her eye irritations and breathing problems lessen when she goes into the bedroom.

I have the Ionic Breeze with warranty that has quit working. I called Sharper Image which said they would replace the unit and for $12, charged to my credit card, they sent me a UPS label to return it for replacement. I packed as instructed, delivered to UPS and received the package a few days later with Unable to deliver-Out of Business on the return label. I'm out $12 for the label and have an Ionic Breeze with warranty I can't get repaired/replaced. The thing was expensive. Is there an option for getting a replacement/refund?

We purchased two (2) Quadro Ionic Breeze machines and two (2) regular Ionic Breeze machines. We spent a total of $1,000. None of the machines work and now Sharper Image is in bankrupcy.

15 years ago Channel 7 News did a study and showed that Hepa Filters did ten times the work (and used almost that much more electricity) as an Ionic Breeze and that the Breeze can't keep up with the real world. Later infomercials kept lying in order to compare it to Hepa Filter systems.
I'm a sucker who paid almost $200 for it.

I returned a merchandise about a year ago and sharper image issued a store credit for USD 370. I went to purchase an item two days ago (6/7/08) and the store refused to honor the credit.

For christmas my husband received a stress reducing machine from Sharper Image. He used it for the trial period and it did not work for him. After following the instructions of Sharper Image I mailed it back on 2/8/08. On 4/22/08 I called Sharper Image to tell them I had not received the $323.95 merchandise credit. I was told it was mailed to me several weeks ago. They confirmed that they had the correct address (which they did) and told me they would send another merchandise credit to me. This they said would arrive between 10 to 15 business days.
On 5/15/08 I called again to say I still had not received the credit. At this I was told it was only mailed out on 5/2/08 and would I please be patient and wait the 10 to 15 business days from this date. I called on 6/2/08 to say I still had not received the credit. This time what I was told blew me away. I think this borders on criminal. The customer service rep told me that the first time I called to say I did not receive the credit that customer service rep could have given me a number which I could have used to redeem merchandise online,in store, or by catalog.
Unfortunately as of 5/31/08 (2 days ago) Sharper Image does not accept merchandise credit any longer. It is obvious they did not send out the credit either time. They continuously strung me along until it became too late to redeem my credit.
The economic consequence is that we are out $323.95 -- so is my husband's mother who gave her son this as a gift. Could we use that stress reducer now!

We purchased, via the Sharper Image website, 3 of the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Cleaners and have had problems with them ever since. They've replaced two already, but they still aren't worth the money.

It is indisputable that ozone gas causes permanent lung tissue damage. I just discovered after using the Ionic Breeze Quadro Silent Air Purifier since the year 2000 (2 of them) - one 2' from my bed - that they give off sometimes very unacceptable amounts of ozone gas. I was recently diagnosed with COPD, a serious lung disease. I will never know for certain if the purifier caused this disease, but certainly no one can deny that ozone gas causes permanent lung damage. I am furious because there was no recall of this product! Also I am health conscious and that is why I purchased this machine 8 years ago when I had NO lung problems.
I was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (which is eventually lethal) on March 4, 2008 and in ignorance was still using my Ionic Breeze Purifier 2' from my bed every night for 8 years. 3 weeks after my diagnosis, I was on the internet and saw your article about the Ionic Breeze and it's hazardous emission of ozone - sometimes like a L.A. smog alert.

My father in law bought the buy one ionic breeze and full price buy the second at half get the third one free. Well he only recieved two of them and was billed in full. Since he is in his eighties, I helped him with this problem. First Sharper Image claimed he did get it, then they said it was on back order. They did refund his credit card to invesitage, but after the credit card company investigated they decided that it was not there problem and put the charge back on his card. We were told that it was the shippers problem and the shipper said it was Sharper Images problem and on and on.
Well needless to say my father in law, who lives on a fixed income, has never gotten his third machine. I will never shop through this company again, and I feel that there handling of the matter was unprofessional and unacceptable. I now hear they are in Chapter 11. This does not surprise me at all. It is only going to be a matter of time. I knew they were in trouble when they began stealing from 80 year olds.

Purchased one Midi Air Cleaner from Linens N' Things and, after seeing how much dust was on the blades, we purchased another. The product manual suggests cleaning the blades once every 2 weeks. We cleaned them after only 3 days and, gradually we were cleaning them every morning. Within a short period of time we began to experience severe symptoms. My husband began to cough violently and to have severe nosebleeds.
I have cancer and am undergoing chemotherapy. I coughed violently, had trouble breathing and had extreme discharge from my sinuses. After concluding that I had some sort of upper respiratory infection, my doctor prescribed an antibiotic for me. This improved my situation somewhat but after a week or two, the doctor gave me a refill on the antibiotic. One night I woke up choking and smelled the ozone scent from the air filter which was in our bedroom. After turning it off I was finally able to get back to sleep.
A week later, I experienced pain on my face (!), shortness of breath and chest tightening along with the continuing cough, etc. We turned off the machines and symptoms eased up almost over night. That was 2 weeks ago. My husband has ceased coughing and the nosebleeds have stopped completely. My coughing has subsided almost entirely, sinuses have cleared up, and the tightening in my chest is much better.
Since I already have cancer (resident on my lungs), this machine made my situation much worse. My husband has certainly improved and we are amazed at the dramatic difference that these machines made in such a negative way. We purchased them in good faith thinking that they would improve our situation and help to keep our home clean. Instead, we were made ill and I believe that, if we hadn't figured out what was causing our symptoms, we could have had continuing and extremely serious health problems. We are understandably upset and angry.

I went to use a $360 store credit. At the time that Sharper Image issued the credit, I was told that it was good anytime, at any store. I went to use the credit last weekend, and was informed that I had to purchase goods worth twice the value of the credit in order for them to honor the credit. I have a few problems with this. This redefines the terms under which the credit ($360) was issued. The manager told us this is a policy of our bankruptcy. I went online, and found out that this is *not* a bankruptcy policy, but rather is a policy of Sharper Image to get as much money in their coffers as they can prior to Ch 13. They will not refund the face value of the credit, so I am left with $360 useless dollars. What can I do?
Economic damage: I have a worthless $360 credit that Sharper Image will not properly honor.

Each day, minutes after arriving home and coming in from the pristine Colorado air, sinuses immediately attack. Never had so many issues and being in the military, haved lived all over the world. Wife (military) has documented sinus issues in her VA chart, with claim sinus issues are much worse in our home here than anywhere. (Pain akin to migraines.)

I went to store to use large credit on my account due to a return for which I was issued credit. (I guess I should have asked for a check.) I was told all credits are frozen. If they have merchandise in store and are going bankrupt, I should at least get to buy store merchandise with my credit.

NOT A COMPLAINT! This is an ENDORSEMENT of the Ion Air Cleaner. After the cleaner had run for about three days friends came in and remarked on how fresh the house smelled. Pleasant surprise. We hadn't noticed the change. Soon the 'Needs Cleaning' light came on. I removed the element to find it covered with dust. Not as much as my vacuum cleaner picks up, but there was no 'blow-by' with this unit. Placing my hand near the bottom intake, I can feel a steady breeze passing into the unit. No fan to make noise, just a natural flow of air drawn, I suppose, by the action of the cleaner. The IONIZED air produced NO ill effects to our breathing. It sits beside my recliner, so if it were emitting harmful elements, I should have sensed it over time.

I had 3 surgeries on my sinuses within a few months of each other. My husband and I talked about getting the Ionic Breeze Quadra GP. Right away I was having issues with it. It would get dirty so quick. Ok... we had a lot of dust. We bought an add-on unit for ozone. My unit worked for 2 months. It stunk so bad it made my sinuses worse. We removed it, and now it doesn't work at all. The bedroom unit quit even sooner. Since we bought 2, that was a lot of money down the drain. We tried to get our money back, and all they wanted to do was exchange it. We just ended up saying forget it. It really wasn't a good product at all, and we are so sorry we bought them. Over $500 went down the drain! We learned our lesson!
I was uncomfortable, spent over $500 and still doesn't work. We did all we were told to do. Felt we were ripped off. After already having 3 surgeries, I needed something that worked otherwise I would have to have a surgery where they remove fat/muscle from my tummy. Drs. would eliminate my frontal sinus and fill it with whatever they got from my tummy. I really needed something that worked. This sure didn't.
