Warning! Office Depot posts at their registers that purchases made online at OfficeDepot.com can be returned at any store. This is not true. Office Depot stores will only return online purchased items which they carry in the store. I tried to return an item purchased online. Item 434278 Ivory Private Stock Cotton Paper, was refused return due to that store not having an inventory number to receive the item. I asked the manager to take the items and return our money and then contact the appropriate corporate buyer to have this item activated at his store inventory level. He refused to do this and would not take the items.

At the time, I was moving across the country and was very disappointed that Office Depot store 117 would not honor the written policies posted in their store. I believe the manager at this store to be incapable of handling the duties he is paid to do and should be removed. Also, as a buyer for a retail distributor, I have now pulled all of my business (worth over 20 million annually) from Office Depot and moved it to a competitor. (guess who? Staples). This is not my first issue with Office Depot. I have a long list compiled over the years, but I can guarantee it will be my last.

I went into Office Depot this morning to purchase a web camera. The sales representative Shayrif helped me. The man deceptively told me that the camera was $29.99. After convincing me to purchase the webcam, I proceeded to checkout where it rung up as $49.99. Shayrif came downstairs in response to the discrepancy. Shayrif knew he had told me the wrong price and must have figured that I wouldn't notice at checking out. I told him, "Why did you lie to me? You deceptively told me this camera was $29.99 when you knew it cost more." He then starts verbally attacking me and telling the cashier that he never told me such a thing. The cashier then refused to give me the discount after Shayrif had his temper tantrum in front of the other customers. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.

I received a $70 max perks coupon for quickbooks pro which is now $99 after $100 off in the circulars. My complaints are twofold:
    1. Ashley, the clerk at the register, scanned the software at $129.99 instead of $99.00. Why were her register not updated? The promotion started on Sunday. Today is Monday. There's clearly something amiss here. 2. Ashley did not accept the max perks coupon saying it cannot be combined with promotional products despite the fact that the coupon says otherwise. She is clearly wrong. Her supervisor (filipino) agreed with her which was the wrong. This is an obvious example of poor training, and not accepting the coupon even though it was a legitimate original (not reproduced) coupon that conformed to the terms of its usage. This is a flagrant and outrageous violation of its own promotional policies. After spending thousands with office max even though it is somewhat less convenient and far away, I will stop shopping there. The store tolerates ignorance, poor training, and lack of ethics and responsibility. It is no wonder that when I try to click on your code of ethics on your web site, I receive a “page not found error. Office Max doesn’t have a valid code of ethics.

When my laptop had issues with the screen, I sent it in to be repaired because I had purchased a three-year plan. It was sent back to me with service being denied because dents, scratches and blemishes due to physical damage. My laptop happens to be in amazing condition and the only problem is a missing footpad and some finger oil on the mouse pad. When I forced the customer service rep to look at pictures taken off my unit, he changed his story to that the problem wasn't covered in my warranty, but he was unable to point out the place in the contract that said this. He also kept pretending not to be on the phone anymore in hopes that I would hang up. It was absolutely rude! I will never buy anything from Office Depot again.

I was given an Office's Depot computer (tray) drawer for Christmas. I tried to take it back and trade it for a chair. I was willing to pay the difference between the two. I was told that I could not bring it back, a new policy as of December 7, 2008. I know I did not have a receipt because it was a gift. I did try to get the receipt from the person who bought it, but they did not keep it. I emailed Office Depot on Jan. 13, 2009 and asked what I can do. They have not answered my email. Now I am writing to you for help.

On December 31st I went to the above listed store to obtain a 8GB USB Flas Drive that was listed in the ad section of the Toledo Blade. It was on sale for $17.99. When I got there they were sold out and I asked for a rain check. They gave me one dated 12-31-08. They were not sure when they would be in was the response I received along with check with the stor in a couple of weeks. I did just that and they said a message was left stating that the drives were in and I had 48 hours to pick up the drive. This was not what was told to me when the clerk gave the rain check. I did not have that message on my answereing machine. I called the store today January 18th and they said the message was left, and that was there policy and since I did not respond in 48 hours the rain check was void. I called the store back and asked to speak to a supervisor and got the same response. Also I did not like being referred to as sweetie, not very professinal. If they have this policy they should communicate such when giving out rain checks, especially when asked. Extremly dissatisfied, so I will shift my business to Office Depot or Staples. Purchased an HP All-in-One Printer with a replacement plan named the Office Depot Performance Protection Plan. The printer died within one year. As instructed by Office Depot, we waited until the Plan kicked in. On November 8th we filed the claim. On November 10th we received an emailed label to ship the printer to Office Depot. NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM AGAIN. FIFTY-THREE DAYS have gone by since we filed our claim. Sent Office Depot THREE emails through their Contact Us page, and never received a response. Talked to the Office Depot store manager and he told us we would receive our gift card in 7-10 business days. That was three weeks ago.

Finally found a phone number for this particular division of Office Depot and spoke to a CSR and her supervisor. Neither one cared enough to give me a straight answer as to when I will receive a gift card for the printer... It's in the mail. There's nothing I hate more than LIARS. It does NOT take three weeks for an envelope to travel from Office Depot to me. I receive mail all the time that takes 2 maybe 3 days to travel across the country.

Ah and then there's the gift card itself (if we ever actually receive it). While they call the plan a Replacement Plan, it's really only a partial replacement plan. Why? Because it doesn't cover tax. So I get to pay tax TWICE on one printer. Wonderful! Is this really a replacement plan then? No. Office Depot is worthless when it comes to Replacement Plans. We paid extra to ripped off and we STILL DO NOT HAVE OUR PRINTER!

I go to Office Depot almost 3 to 4 times a week or even more and sometimes its twice a day. The reason behind that is I have a business on eBay and Amazon.com so I ship a lot of stuff. Secondly, I am a college student and whenever I need to print hundred and hundreds of pages of powerpoint slides or notes, I go to Office Depot because it saves times printing from their machines comparing the printer at my home that takes forever. However, on 12/29/2008, I went to Office Depot and an Assistant Manager Munir approached me and asked me what was I doing in the store.

And I said I am about to ship some stuff and he told me to leave the store. I asked him why? and he said he wasn't obliged to tell me the reason. I asked him what was my crime and what have I done that made you tell me to leave the store. And he replied "You know what you did." I got so mad at him because I think just because I shop there so often and I go to their copy center lots of times, it made him think that I was a potential thief. Anyway, I was still angry and called the police. Now this is where it got interesting. Police came and listened to my side and his side and then the officer told me "The law states that any private business has a right to refuse service to anyone they choose to".. This was just so embarrassing but Office Depot won't be getting my business anymore and Staples will be new option now.

I purchased an Ink Cartridge for my Printer and used my debit card for payment. I purchased a new printer before I used the new Cartridge at another store. I took the ink cartridge back along with the receipt to Office Depot within 3 days of purchase. The clerk had no problem returning the item what they did have a problem with is giving me cash for the refund. The clerk and store manager said they could not give me cash is had to be credited back to my debit card and would be applied back to my account by midnight.

First, of all a debit card is considered a CASH transaction. I have never had a store refuse to give me back cash when a debit card was used. Second, of all it is now 3 A.M. and my account has not been credited back the amount of the refund. When asked for the Corporate Contact the Clerk stood back with a disgusted look on his face while the Manager acted like I was a real Pain. I understand NO ONE gets anywhere with Corporate anyway, so why bother contacting them. Probably, the reason for the attitude from the employee and Manager. I will never Purchase another item at Office Depot. I returned another item at their competitor's Office Max and had absolutely No Problem and even received a smile and Thank You from the employee.

On 11/21/2008, my mother bought me a really nice oversize photo printer for Christmas. The reason for wanting the printer, was my upcoming baby on the way. Well, a week before Christmas, we lost the baby at 4 1/2 months. On Christmas day, my mom gave me the printer and all the attachments and said she would understand if I wanted to return it, as my intentions were to take pictures of the baby. Mom gave me the receipt to return it ($444 total bought). When I walked into the store, the Counter guy, Eric, asked for my receipt. I gave it to him. He said, OH, this was bought on a Debit card and I don't have that much money to give you, sorry. I said, Well, we gotta do something, i can't just say okay, and leave, its over $400 were talking about. Eric then said with a smirk, "oh, your past the 14 day return policy, i can only give you a gift card". I said very nicely, There must be anther option for holiday purchases? Eric said again with a smirk and a laugh, "Nope, Gift Card only." I said, "Can i talk to the,,,,," He stopped me and while laughing said, "I am the manager". I said i wanted to talk to the store manager, he said she wasn't it, and he didn't know when she would be. Seeing i was getting nowhere, I asked for the number to corporate. Eric said, "eight hundred office max." At this point, another associate noticed Eric getting rude and loud so he walked over. This associate was very nice, and was also Erik, but with a K. Erik said, "sir, that nubmer is actually 877, office max. As i was talking to the lady from corporate filing a complaint, Eric was saying, "boy, you just screwed yourself, I'm not helping you at all now, you might as well leave." The lady from corporate couldn't believe the way he was talking to me. He continued to say, "Man, your stupid." After i finished my complaint with corporate, Erik asked Eric to go in the back and talk to him. They went in the back for a couple mins, when a female employee walked in (I think she was the actual shift manager). When Erik noticed her walking in, he quickly asked for her to come to the back. After a few more minutes, all 3 exited and approached me. Erik said very nicely, "Sir, I'm very sorry for the way you were treated, and we certainly strive on our customer service, and we definately don't want complaints to go to corporate, so we would like to refund you the money back on your debit card. I said thank you very much. Eric quickly and loudly said, "You don't have to be such an As*hole", The female said, "Eric, that's enough!" Eric then said, "What? He is an as*hole" I said, "Sir, I've been nothing but calm, and never once cursed at your or anybody." Eric said, "I dont' care your and as*hole and I'll say it again, your an as*hole!" Eric was pretty much screaming this, which had caught the attention of all the other customers in the store. The female stopped, and said, "You need to go in the back now! and shut the door!" Eric refused. The female demanded him to do it again. He finally went in the back. The female continued to tell me how sorry she was and that she was sending him home. Erik and her both were very apologetic. After the transaction was complete, I called corporate back, and gave another complaint about the employee Eric calling me an as*hole 4 times. They logged my complaint, which said would go to the district manager. Not sure if it will go anywhere, but who knows. And just so they know, as soon as I got to work (a fortune 500 company), I emailed my entire experience to my entire division (400 people). I received over 150 emails back from my co-workers, stating thank you for the warning and they were going to refuse to shop at Office Max due to this as well as their return policy that they didn't know about. It wasn't slander, just purely what happened. Most said they forwarded it to their friends and family. I will never shop their again and will continue to send that email to people and post my story to any web site I can find that applies, until Office Max Corporate can make this right to me.

I bought a display model laptop. At that time, it was working fine. The sales rep turned off the computer and began removing the unit from the shelf. Then brought it to the rear of the store to box it for me. I paid for it and they stamped on the receipt no returns because that store was going out of business. Thirty minutes later, I had returned home and the screen was damaged/not working. I returned to the store within 1 hour of the sale and they tell me it is my problem - Call the manufacturer and let them handle it. The manufacturer says Office Depot needs to give you your money back but they refuse. The Screen has Pixel damage which may be due to the cross bar which restricted the chance of lifting it off the shelf in the store.

Almost too good to be true. I did receive an Order Confirmation that day that stated shipping confirmation emails will provide details on all shipments. No Shipping confirmation emails were ever received. They say they attempted delivery twice (never notified me) and cancelled the order due to no one being home. The requirement of someone accepting delivery was never stated in the order confirmation that I received. When I called to inquire about setting up another delivery, I was told the offer was now void and I would have to pay a (MUCH) higher price than my original order. The lack of communication, lack of delivery notification, and only customer service resolution involving paying a higher price seems deceptive.

Office Depot's ad on Sunday, 11/16/08 offered a Toshiba Satellite Notebook Computer with 4GB memory and a 320GB hard drive for $549.99. I immediately went online and ordered 3 of them which was to be delivered on Wednesday, 11/19/08. On Wednesday, I did not receive them. I tracked my order online which said it was on hold for LPR. I emailed Office Depot asking what that meant and received an email stating that I would receive a response within 24 hours. On Thursday, 11/20/08 I received a second email from Office Depot stating the following, "We have forwarded a Customer Resolution Form to your local Distribution Center and you will be contacted within 24 hours. I attempted to contact them by phone and was disconnected on two occasions because the customer service department allegedly could not hear a caller on the line. When I went searching online for the laptop, the deal was changed to an in store deal only.

On 11/21/08 I received a call from Office Depot saying that the delay was because they are concerned about fraud and checking the transaction. When I stated that they already received approval from my credit card company, she repeated the same. I questioned why I was never contacted about the delay in delivery or the checking into the transaction and she could not respond to that. I asked to speak with someone in the credit department and she asked if I would like a manager to contact me; I said yes.

In the meantime, I logged on to check the status of the order and to my surprise, my order had been deleted! I tried once again to speak with an agent on the phone but was unable to get past the automated system. Honestly, I am relieved that the order was canceled. I checked with my credit card company and the transaction was never processed. I will NEVER do business with Office Depot again!

He then proceeded to either make a copy of my personal business info or send another fax to another machine.
All this should be on the security cam. My fax has a verification time of 9:40AM but they keep my fax in the machine till 9:51AM. My receipt says 9:51 AM and I never left the print shop area. It's obvious something isn't right here. The manager now has my bank account info, my SSN #, my address and phone numbers. I wrote Office Max but don't expect them to do anything. The security cams should work for both sides. For the store and the shoppers. If the district manager watched the tapes he knows I'm telling the truth. I am very angry about this. Shouldn't the public have a right to expect their personal financial info to be safe and secure? I've senr many faxes in my life from stores and nobody ever looked at more than the cover sheet. I purchased a leather office chair made in China (of course) with the Office Depot label. After a few weeks I noticed I developed some strange blisters/sores on the backs of my knees (they didn't hurt or itch - weird) and a rash on the back of my neck that did itch. I realized that my problems started when I started using the chair. I believe I had a staph infection on my legs, but luckily I was taking an antibiotic for sinus problems and it along with antibiotic cream took care of the sores.

I searched the internet for any other problems with leather products from China and found there were numerous complaints of the same type of sores/rash, and they were the result of a chemical put on the leather to prevent mold. The chemical leached onto the person's skin with contact. This method of applying the chemical is not used in the U.S. it seems. No one tests this toxic crap that is made in China before it hits the U.S. market. It should be mandatory!

Why I will never buy another thing from Office Depot. Every time you advertise a good deal on a computer, your stores never have them. When those stores call other stores, those other stores never have. Then your sales reps tell me "Oh that's been discontinued." So why advertise it. Every time I order something from Tech Depot that was advertised in print or on your site, I get told "Oh that's been discontinued."

My last order: Purchased online from OD website for store pick up, charged 899.99, although your phone reps say I wasn't. Call me the next morning, state that the store I want to pick computer up doesn't have any and I cannot get on delivered because ummmmm, "It's been discontinued." Call store: "Store has 2, we'll hold it for you," GREAT!!!! But since OD online is holding $899.99 (901.00 actually) I can't pay for new computer. Ask OD online to call my credit card company to release the hold, poor English speaking rep tells me that my card was not charged, ummmm my cc says it was, 901 hold pending could take 3-5 days to drop off. CC company says, "we'll gladly drop the hold immediately if OD calls and provides some info," and I can buy computer immediately. Again OD rep speaking poor English tells me that my card wasn't charged.

Called store for assistance, guy tells me "Sorry this kinda stuff happens all the time, and there's nothing I can do." At least I could understand him. This year Best Buy and Staples will get all my computer business, which I plan to buy one nice desktop, 2 laptops, an LCD projector, a 42 inch HDTV, and related software titles. All by Christmas.

No matter how irresistible your prices are, no matter how many tempting emails I get, I would rather pay more from a Store or Website that provides quality customer service, consistent prices between Web and Store, and actually carries the products they advertise, not discontinuing them the day the ad hits the streets. Thank you for making this so easy for me.

Remember: If I have a good experience, I will tell 2-3 people by word of mouth, and none via the internet. If I have a bad experience, I will tell 10 by word of mouth and MILLIONS via the internet. Thank you Al Gore, thank you for inventing the internet so I can tell the world about crappy retailers and their lack of realizing that without happy customers, the only ones that are happy are the bankruptcy vultures.

The technician instructed me to contact Office Max. She believed there was a problem with the computer blocking AOL. I called Office Max to report the problem, the clerk who answered the phone told me it was an AOL issue.

On August 18, 2008 I obtained yet another disk from AOL, and I was able to connect to AOL. However the connection was not solid. It took several hours and attempts to make a connection only to lose it with out warning. I called Office Max again. Office Max personnel continued to blame AOL. Office Max offered no tech support. On September 15, 2008 I loaded the computer into the back of the car and called Office Max saying I need to return the computer.? I explained what had happened and that I have been more then patient by continuing to try to resolve the matter. The Office Max clerk who answered the phone instructed me to wait until the next day, September 16, 2008, when the store manager would be in. The clerk assured me another day would be ok.

On September 16, 2008 I spoke with the store manager who offered on-site Tech Support. Tech Support offered to reload AOL in the store. Tech Support completed a hard drive test He attempted to reload AOL. Not being successful loading AOL, he alleged that it was an AOL problem and suggested I change internet providers. He did make a comment about Microsoft's Windows desktop operating systems (VISTA) and AOL which I am not sure I understood. No where on the box or instructions for the computer did it warn the consumer of VISTA not being compatible with AOL. The tech explained the 14 day return policy Office Max has for computers but there were instances that up to 30 days have been allowed but 31 days is not allowed.

so i called max and they said it doesnt fit in the 3 repair lemon policy as it hasnt been fixed (no repair was made) they told me. they been out 3 times installing parts, my pc has been down almost 3 months and you say there hasnt been a repair made. then they tell me that barrister has a 90 day warranty on there service and at the end of that 90 days if the pc isnt fixed, then that will count as 1 service and we would open a nother service that will hold me hostage another 90, and so on. so i can be without my pc for 9 months and it wouldnt get replaced under the lemon policy.

the way they conduct business is beyond me. they are coming out to install another hdd and more ram today(parts already been replaced). this in my mind will be the 4th service performed on this pc, but in there mind there has not been a service completed. i bought this warranty because they said that after a tech has been to my home 3 times to fix and unable to it would be replaced. but they fail to tel you they contract out the service to barrister and a tech be out 100 times within 90 days and that dont count as completed service. maxassurance is a scam, my pc is down for 3 months and not fixed, and it doesnt look like it will be fixed within the next 6months either.

I found the MaxAssurance program from OfficeMax to be wildly misleading regarding shoddy OfficeMax equipment.

I purchased an OfficeMax executive office chair, less than three years ago. But for much of a year now, it's level-setting mechanism has failed almost daily, requiring that I climb up out of the chair, and re-adjust it. Again. Often repeatedly.

Finally recalling that I had purchased an OfficeMax so-called MaxAssurance guarantee after being assured by the OfficeMax clerk - and the big print in their propaganda brochure - that If your product fails, we will arrange to

have it repaired and pay the bills ...

SILLY me! I actually believed what the brochure and the clerk said. But what the big print (and verbal assurances) gave, the fine print (and it's VERY fine!) took away:

Seems the only things they cover on chairs is casters breaking and upholstery seam separation! The MaxAssurance phone-drone even told me that what USUALLY fails on OfficeMax chairs, is their hydraulic level mechanism! Which she hastened to state was NOT covered.

I'm stuck with a chair less than three years old that's best only for midgits!

Needless to say, I will NEVER do business with either of these scam operators again!

We as consumers need to quit buying anything from a retail store that treats customers as they treated me! During an effort to move across the state, I bought a $65 set of Ink Cartridges for an older HP Inkjet Printer to use in sending out resumes. Having already boxed my printer cable, I was unable to use that printer as I had intended. After our move, and after unboxing all our stuff (including our newer HP OfficeJet),

I was in Morristown, TN and saw an Office Max Store; I went in and discussed the situation with a lady at the counter explaining to her exactly what I had done, (item, cost, time, etc.) and that I would like to bring the cartridges back and instead, get a new set for my OfficeJet. She said that it would be no problem giving me a CASH refund if I had my receipt. She proceeded to tell me if I wanted to go ahead and get the new cartridges that all I had to do was bring the others in with my receipt, to get my CASH back. So, I went ahead and bought the OfficeJet cartridges (another $60 something dollars).

When I returned the other day, with the unopened cartridges and my receipt to get my CASH back, they reneged and would not give me my money. Instead, they insisted on a giving me a gift card. Needless to say, since I don't need anything from Office Max right now, I don't appreciate them taking my money, lieing to me and forcing me to use a gift card for something I don't really want, or need. Obviously, if I hadn't been misled and if the lady would have told me that in the first place. I would have done the return first and then purchased the new cartridges with the card. A swap out, if you will. Anyway, I will never buy another thing from Office Max, period; and I hope you will consider going somewhere else yourself.

Their attitude ... they just shrugged their shoulders and blamed it on Corp. policy and their cash register/computer program. Corporate had the same attitude over the phone! There are too many decent people/businesses out there that we can help by giving them our business, we don't really need, nor can some of us afford to have these big box retailers always pushing us around. Please consider this the next time you buy! Corporate policy is only as good as we allow it to be. Otherwise, they change it to suit us, or they're out of business. After all, who keeps them going? Think about it. tell everyone you know, and go to Staples or Office Depot! Thanks. there is power in numbers! The item was purchased with my credit card (already charged) and the item was sent to the Pasadena Office Depot (1130 E COLORADO BLVD. Store# 599) for pickup instead of delivery. Upon arrival, the store manager Tyrone responded and treated everyone who presented a purchase order/receipt with poor customer service and a poor attitude.

Although I understand that the store manager may have tried to explain the situation at hand many times before already, I felt that I should have deserved better customer service than what was presented to me. Not only were the customers in the store denied what they had purchased legally, but we were lied to as well. The store changed their response multiple times, stating it is not valid, then its not in stock, and finally its an error. When we went to view the item, the chair itself had multiple tickets that had the TAKE ONE to the counter for purchase. The manager had also said that the coupon we used was not valid until 07/18/2008 and that the sale price of the chair will end on 07/17/2008 and the chair will go from the sale price from $99.99 back to $169.99.

I didn't have to pay for the deliver, however, I called customer service 3 weeks after I placed the order and was told that it was scheduled to be delivered on the 9th of June. I was willing to wait, but after the 9th day passed I made a phone call and asked for the manager, who was completely oblivious about my order.

He called back an hour later, and asked for me to fax him the paper work. I was told the delivery people would call me the following day. I got the call the next morning, and received my delivery! Little did I know that after 3 hours of assembling, I was missing the main base to hold up the product. I called the manager, Mr.P, and he didn't have an answer for this. He refered me to a man named "Ken", because he supposedly had more knowledge about furniture. I once again explained the situation to "Ken", and was again called that I would be "called back that same day".

I waited for another 3 days, after not receiving a phone call, so I went back to Office Max to speak to a manager. The manager was Mellisa S or Rose E, I explained the enitre process and offered me $25 off $350 to buy the bottom portion, and I refused because it was out of my planned budget, because when I ordered I signed for the price of $361.24 for the entire unit, and all I wanted was what I signed, asked, and was guaranteed for. The manager made insulting remarks asking if I "seriously thought I was going to buy that product for that price?", but that question shouldn't have been ever asked because not only is it unprofessional, but she was completely at fault because the sales person whom presented the product to me informed me that asking price was $344.96 and $361.24 with tax.

If the problem would have been adrressed professionally from the start, I would have been more understanding, but there was no professionalism and I, as the customer, felt that the situation was treated completely the wrong way. The manager then asked for me to return the top part, and I was unable to because the size of the product is too big for my car, and so she said that she was going to have someone sent out to my house to pick it up. It has now been a week and half, and I'm still waiting for the product to be picked up. After 2 weeks, no phone call. I called again and was told that a technician would contact me within a week. He did call and scheduled an appointment for the following week. He showed, inspected the tv and stated that he needed to order parts. He said he would order parts and they would arrive at my house in 1 week and to call him to come back and make the repairs. That was 9 weeks ago. No parts, no tech, broken tv.

In fact, the television is in such a state of disrepair greater than it was back in March. Since the tech visit, I have called a total of 4 times to get an update on the status of my claim. All 4 times, your agents were rude and disrespectful to me because I actually had the audacity to ask them why my tv is broken and why wont they fix it. How dare me.

Since your company refuses to honor its own satisfaction guarantee, I have filed a claim with my local Better Business Bureau. I have been more than patient in trying to work with you through this matter but it is clear that you have no intention whatsoever in doing the right thing. Hopefully, they will get you to see the error of your ways. I have also begun to blog quite extensively on many consumer complaint websites about your company and this situation. Since youve been so kind to me the very least I could do is get you some free press. Please note that I will do whatever it takes to get my money back from your company and can rest assured that I will never buy another Office Depot product again.

Here is the letter I wrote after MANY phone calls: Customer Service? Hello, We bought this online from you on 4/27/08 because our Officemax store was out of it. Now Staples has it starting today for 99.98. I went to the store, they said they couldn't price match since it was bought online, that we had to call you. I did and they said they can't match it.

Now I am forced to return this to you and buy it at Staples???? This is NOT the way to do business. We buy all of our supplies from you for our company including a lot of Impress services, but if we cannot receive the 30.00 credit on our account, we will be forced to purchase ALL of our products elsewhere. You folks are making it hard to do business with you and making the customer jump through a lot hoops! The store said we could NOT return it to them since it was bought online. Yet, your policy clearly states on your website: In-Store Returns Products that are purchased online may be returned to an OfficeMax store location for a credit refund. Products may be exchanged if the originally purchased product is in stock at that store location.

So essentially we have to return it, then buy another one? Ok, but they won't let me!!!! The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing Then they tell me once it leaves your shipping dept., they will only honor price matches on YOUR ads. Wait, it wasn't MY fault the store didn't have it in the first place when YOU advertised it last week. Now we are being punished for buying it from you! We DO NOT want to have to return this to you if we don't have to...please work with us here!!!! Is it worth losing a customer over 30.00?

And Told me You can't just walk away with pack of DVDs And I said As far as I know I can use 5 Catridges to buy stuffs upto 15 dollars And He said As far as I know You can't use it at all And I stop and asked for his name and ask for what is customer service number. He told me to find out myself.

And He said Get out from my store! Take the catridges and go to Staples Very Loud , Very Rude, Insulted in front of Cashier + People -> Litterally No exagerration. Whenever I tried to make conversation, He kept saying Have nice day in sacastic way and pointed finger to the exit door. (Meant get out) I called Officemax, found out I was able to use all 5. I made complaint, but no action. Just said I will report this to whatever department Nothing... no Action. To save a few dollars, my husband & I decided to try Office Max ink cartridges instead of the name brand HP & Lexmark. We purchased the two-pack with black & color ink. Went home, my husband couldn't get the color ink to work. He took it to his IT guy at work thinking it was his printer. IT said the Office Max cartridge was either broke or just empty. Lucky for my husband, it was within the 30-day exchange policy. He exchanged his purchased for an HP and will never buy Office Max ink again.

It made me think, I had Office Max ink in my printer and have never used the colored cartridge (I have it set to print black only). So, I thought since I had to go back to Office Max for my husband, I will check the colored ink to make sure it works, no such luck. A brand new colored ink cartridge I paid $25.00 for never used once.

So, I brought it into Office Max WITH MY RECEIPT. I told him my situation and how the cartridge has been in printer for several months but I never used it. He could have cared less. He didn't look at it. He didn't check it over, he did nothing. So, once again I went out of my way for nothing. He said it was after the 30-day exchange and there is nothing he can do. He didn't care that I had spent my money in there and got nothing for it... My fault for not checking the ink on day one. My fault for trusting that Office Max would take care of me as their customer. I mean really, $25.00 to Office Max is chump change to them so, you would think they would just want to make the customer happy. I would be scared to death to buy something expensive like a camera, printer or furniture from them. After day 31 if you have problem it's your tough luck and you are out of money. Thirty days is ridicules. If you buy a defective product from any company, you should be able to return it.

The sales lady told me it's out of warranty so I will now have to contact the manufacturer. Out of warranty? It has a 1 year warranty! She said since it is not one of their products it has a 14 day warranty. Anything after that and you have to go through the manufacturer. I said, You mean to tell me you sell products but you don't stand behind them? She wouldn't exchange it.

This is the 2nd one of these Writers I have had. The first one went out in under a year and a different Office Max exchanged it. I left the store telling her I will NOT step foot in an Office Max again since they have such a ridiculous policy. I came home, called Office Max for the contact information for I/O Magic and she said she'd never even heard of them! Then I filled the rebate and sent it, and after a month got notification that I haven't included some number (the SKU maybe) although I have included everything. I called them and told them I have included it, so they agreed to send me the rebate after I gave them that number on the phone. Then, a month later or so, I receive a check for only $150 although I bought two laptops! So, I called them back, they said I need to send another rebate form. I did that, but they told me the deadline has already passed. I was screwed. I called them again and talked to the supervisor and tried to convince him that that he sent me the check of $150 already after the deadline passed, so how could I know I had to send 2 rebate forms? I bought a Toshiba A215-S4747, 15" laptop back in October of 2007 for $802.49, and was told at the time of purchase that there was a rebate of $150 on the laptop. All I needed to do was submit my receipt along with their mail-in rebate form to the address listed on the form. The rebate was supposed to run from Oct 21 - Dec. 1. I mailed the info by the Wednesday of the following week I purchased the item, which was Oct. 31, 2007, well within the given time frame to receive the rebate. On the form it said it could take up to 90 days to process the rebate, and you were told not to contact them until after the 90 days was up. So, I waited. In Feb. I sent an email to their online customer rebate area because when I checked their online tracking system for my rebate to see when it would be processed, it came up no information found. This alarmed me, as I had sent over everything during the time frame, and had heard nothing from them.

Someone, Buzz B., contacted me on my email, and asked that I send over some additional information which I did. They gave no time frame at the time of my request, saying if I didn't get right back to them on my request they couldn't process my rebate or anything, so I didn't get right back with them immediately. Got busy, went out of town, and just went through things this past weekend to collect all that they asked me to send them over. Someone, Gladys M, writes back on today telling me sorry, rebate is over, and sorry for my inconvenience--basically, better luck next time. This never would have happened had they not told us to wait 90 days before contacting them in the first place on our rebate. I am seriously put out, and want to do as much as is possible to see that no one else falls into this same trap.

Mainly, my damages are being out of the $150 that I was promised in return on an item I bought from them in good faith.

There store policy is 14 days and I came in on 2-26-08, day 15. The manager told me not our problem, call HP. I called HP and I was told I need to have it connected up to my computer. I explained it would not run. So I tried the printer again, it jammed and will not work, with no possible way to clear the paper jam on this model without servicing. The software program I used Print Shop did not give choices for paper thickness, so now HP so far is telling me the you need to select the proper paper type when setting the print driver up. This is fine if it had a manual, and If some oneelse at any time decides to put a different type of HP aproved paper in your HP printer, it jams and your out of action again. I figure I spent about $54 dollars a print and have nothing to show for it.

What I find are companies just run you into the ground till you just give up, and they have every legal right to do it. I spent 1/2 of my advertising budget hoping to make a difference this year.

Products may be exchanged if the originally purchased product is in stock at that store location. I wanted to exchange the furniture (still in the unopened boxes) piece for the other color offered.

    1) A call to store confirmed it was in stock. The store manage refused to exchange or return any online items. 2)A call to Office Max customer service (Susan) states that online order returns and exchanges are subject to the store discretion. WHAT? This was confirmed supposedly from Susan's supervisor, who said the policy has the word may in it. 3) A second 31 minute phone call to Office Max CS (Joy) had them trying to call another store to see of they would accept the exchange. They would not stating the pieces were on clearance. Although the policy does not state anything regarding clearance items AND the piece is not listed as clearance on their website or in store (I checked). Ultimately we lodged a complaint and returned the item. I will never buy from Office Max again. BUYER BEWARE!

Interest carry charges between purchase (2/16 - 2/24). I know it is not compensable, but $35 for having the cable internet outlet switched to the location of the computer cabinet, time spent on the phone and driving to the store for naught and FRUSTRATION of not having the company follow their own policy. Day of purchase I was told verbally that if there were any problems, I would be able to have repairs or replacement for my Samsung Laser printer if I purchased the Extended 2 year warranty. Asked if I could see the warranty and they showed me a cd-rom disc that they claimed had all the information they had just informed me of. The printer broke just over one year after purchase and I just purchased over $300 in laser cartridges a couple days before it broke. I contacted the warranty provider. I was told they would not honor what was verbally told to me because my purchase was one penny less than what their allowance would allow for the printer to be repaired, even though I was assured by the salesperson in the store that I would have no problem. (I paid $499.99 and their minimum was $500.00)

I caved and told the warranty company that I would accept the gift card for my purchase price and asked them to also reimburse my tax as well as the balance of my warranty to be prorated and refunded and they told me it was not in the warranty to do so. I read the warranty on the cd they gave me at time of purchase and it does not state that anywhere in the warranty. They proceeded to tell me that I would receive my return labels to return the printer in 7 days. That was on Feb 1, 2008 and when I called them to ask why I have not received it, they told me they had not yet sent it out and that I may receive something in 6 weeks. I am afraid they will not honor my warranty and wait until my warranty runs out this year and then I will be out a printer and $499.99 + tax + unused time on the warranty. The people I have dealt with are pleasant to deal with but refuse to give me any stable information of what options I have if I do not receive what the warranty allows. They only say that they are working to resolve this and are generic in what they tell me. Please advise me on this as it is not an amount to go into legal action and as a business owner I have little time to battle with retail stores over a warranty. Any help you can give me would tremendously be a gift...Thank you...

The mental stress of dealing with this warranty company who is portraying themselves as the enemy is causing me undue stress that I don't need. They are treating me as if I am trying to get something for nothing and all I want is what we agreed to. If they did not want to honor the agreement they should never have offered it to me. Called the store 01/09/2008; they said they would email the warehouse, and I would hear something between 8am-12pm on 01/10/08. Again, no one called.

Called the store again. The manager said that the warehouse claimed they called me, and the line was busy. I have call-waiting and caller ID. Plus I wasn't on the phone that early. The warehouse people lied; they NEVER called. I told the manager I wanted a refund if it isn't here by 01/11 noon. She said the only thing she could do was send me a refund paper for a claim, and it would be mailed to me. She also said she didn't want to make the delivery service mad. I was trying to get a hold of CopyMax (Office Max's spin-off of Sir Speedy) to see what format I needed to make this card in to have them print it. The lady who answered Office Max's main line sounded like she should have just answered, "Welcome to Office Max, I obviously don't care at all about you, so hurry up and tell me who I can push your call off to." That, or she was just plain wasted (common in WV) and shouldn't have been at work at all. When she redirected me to CopyMax, I was on hold for over 30 minutes before I gave up. It does not take 30 minutes to get a call from one side of the store, a total of 1000 ft., to the other side of the store. It's completely ridiculous. I think that if they can't cater to something as simple as their customer's PHONE CALLS, then they should not be in business at all. If you can't do the job or show any interest in doing it to satisfy the customer -- don't market it.

My friend needed these business cards really soon. I called a less popular printer, but they actually cared about the customer, and had them printed there. However the job was completed late because of the delays from CopyMax/Office Max, which made his business suffer somewhat.

The only excuse that they have is that they received the form a couple of days late, which I state is not true. It seems to me that Office Depot is in the business of ripping people off, and from what I have read, they do it all the time.

I have lost $150 from the first rebate and $200 from my second purchase.

I sent in ALL required info and material for rebate but I keep getting cards back saying they don't have what they need to honor rebate. They keep asking for secondary proof of purchase which is what I cut off the box to send in, along with rebate form and copy of store receipt!

I purchased an HP Officejet 7410 Color Flatbed printer All-In-One for a total of $536.24 and thats including tax. I was to receive it on 02/17/06 at home and I did not receive it because they came at 10:30am and I was at work. So then I called that same day to ask if I can pick it up at the store or if they can change the address to have it delivered to my work. I was replied to with no and the lady at the customer service did not evern ask for my order number and just told me they would deliver it the next business day and hung up.

So I was upset from then on and called in again and this lady was more professional and did ask for my order number and stated to me that it would be deliverd on monday 02/20/06 which was a holiday and she did confirm that they still will deliver it. I was asured that it would come so I waite home all day because I was off work and called twice that day on 02/20/06 to make sure if they were coming to deliver the printer and I was assured both times that it was on its way and one operator stated to me that It could be up to 7:00pm since they were an outside contractor delivery.

It came to be 4:30pm on 02/20/06 and never received a call from my front gates to get in my gated home. I called back and was told that I was not at home from their delivery driver. Which was a lie because to get in they have to call me to let them in or get in if another car is driving in at the same time. I was informed by the supervisor during my last call that I would receive a refund with in 7days, which did not occur.
