I was getting ready for my grandson's birthday party, 1 year old. I built a patio just for my table. I was inside getting things ready and all of a sudden, I looked outside and my glass top table shattered, no one was around. Now I have a frame, 6 chairs and the umbrella, no table. I'm really upset because my grandson could have been hurt.

I purchased the spotlight on 8/8/2009. I charged the battery per the instructions and the light would not work. I then looked for the manufacturer's website and discovered that these spotlights had been recalled over a year ago. I could not believe K-Mart was selling a recalled product, knowing the product was defective. Beware of so-called good deals.

Today, 7/21/09, I was in the store to purchase a Rubbermaid set. There were six of them on the shelf next to the sale sign. When I arrived at the register, I was told it was not the one on sale. They left me waiting for 25 minutes while someone looked for it. When the person called the back to see what was happening, she didn’t know what she was talking about. She never looked for it.

I get monthly ** prescriptions and this month, I refilled at Kmart. Kmart happens to carry the Mallinckrodt generic, which they gave me. What I would like to find out is why their generic does not work half as well as other brands? I was taking Watson 932 (generic ** 10/325) and it worked great. Now I am taking Mallinckrodt, and I have to double my dosage just to equal the pain relief. How does a consumer have medicines analyzed, to see whether or not what they are getting is actually what has been prescribed? I do not believe the codeine content is actually 10 mg as stated! Or, it is so diluted with something else, it does not offer the same pain relief as other brands. How would I have these two different brands tested? Doubling my dose because this product is ineffective, I'm not only subjecting myself to possible liver damage and doubling results in a lack of meds for the month, my insurance company is paying for a faulty product!

I ordered two rings online at Kmart.com (order numbers ** and **). I received email conformation on both orders on July 06, 2009. On July 8, I received an email from Kmart saying that they were canceling the orders due to a mistake in the prices of the rings. I called Kmart’s customer service and talked to representative who was very rude. When I stated to her that the mistake was Kmart’s and not mine, she said, “What are you going to do, get a lawyer and sue Kmart?” She then offered to give me an additional 5% off the adjusted price on each ring, which I did not except. This was Kmart’s mistake and they should make good of it. Thank you.

First, it would be nice to know if any businesses read this forum to retrieve information of their stores. The Kmart at Kempsriver has so much potential; however, they choose to keep it very understaffed, and the structure itself is old and needs repair (ceiling tiles are brown and dirty, the huge vent by the registers is dirty and has dust swinging from it). The females' bathroom has been renovated; however, the last 3 times I've visited there and used the bathroom, only one light worked! The plants they have for sale outside are always dried up and in great need of water. Even the machines you slide you credit cards in for purchases are attached to the poles with rubber bands. Come on people, if Kmart can buy Sears, surely they can afford decent machinery and ceiling tiles! Please give cashiers more hours! Update the store! You will make up the money in volume by providing a better atmosphere!

My wife bought a patio table, a Martha Stewart set with table and 6 chairs, in 2005. The table top glass shattered in a thousand little pieces. Luckily, my 7 and 13 year old kids were not hurt. I find it appalling that you do not take this seriously and give us another table or make Kmart reimburse all the people with the same problem. This is not our fault, it’s the manufacturer’s. Till someone dies or gets seriously hurt, it will be on your head.

We bought a Martha Stewart outdoor table/patio set from Kmart in the summer of 2002. My wife was in our living room when she heard an odd sound. Going outside, she saw our table had exploded/shattered for no reason at all. There are no trees in our backyard, and we don't even use an umbrella in it. There was no ball or anything that could have struck the table. Glass was everywhere, and someone could have been seriously hurt. BTW, the response from Kmart included the following "Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced, with empathy"
The Kmart where we purchased the product is closed. It has taken 8+ hours to get the glass up and our brick patio will never be the same. We used to be able to walk around in bare feet, but no more. My 8 year old girl used to sit on our patio to do arts and crafts etc., but that is out because of the tiny glass fragments that you can't see, but you can feel when they lodge in your foot. They knew the table was defective, but let people get hurt because it was cost effective.

On May 16, 2009 I purchased a Barnes & Noble gift card from my local Kmart center. After several failed attempts of trying to use this gift card online and in the Barnes & Noble bookstore, I returned to Kmart. However, the cashier and the assistant manager refused to reissue another gift card or refund the gift card for cash. I then ended up leaving with the non-working gift card and my money wasted! The whole experience was horrible, the cashier was very rude and unwilling to understand the situation. I can honestly say I will never shop at Kmart again!

At Kmart, when I took the bike back, they bought it back and they gave me a card with $96 and said to find a new one. Well, the bike range is priced from $159 to $259. I ended up re-buying the broken bike, because they wanted me to spend more money for bikes that are recalled. They had several that were on the recall list on the floor.
I bought two bikes at Christmas, and my daughter's broke which is a Highland (model number k6587BA07J) and my son's is a Howler (model number K6587BA07C). I found that they are both recalled. I am frustrated. I called Kmart to talk to another manager, and they were giving me the same thing that they would buy the bike back. I even told her that it was a recall. She wanted me to spend more money for another bike. Please help. What am I supposed to do?

I have made a complaint against Kmart before. I had a layaway in at the store and when I took the layaway home, there were three shirts missing and the shorts I had in layaway were exchanged for a different pair. I had a pair of Route 66 shorts in layaway and they replaced them for a pair of wranglers; that would have been way too big for my son. The father's day shirt I had in layaway was no longer available and the MLB baseball shirt I had in layaway had been exchanged for a cheaper version of the sleeveless shirt on the racks.
I would like you to please investigate them for this. I dealt with the same man every time I made my layaway until I went to pick up the layaway today. There was a boy there who had never worked there before and when I went back to the store to complain, he was leaving the parking lot as I pulled in walking. The aggravation of losing articles I was not able to replace and the thought that you pay the payments you are required to pay and you can't trust them to give you what you pay for. The fact that this has happened to me twice now is making me very angry. They are replacing their employees with someone who doesn't even work there to get away with this. You can't tell me that the manager of the store doesn't recognize this. Someone absolutely was messing in my layaway.

I purchased the Santa Monica patio furniture set and bar, on 2/22/2003. In Sept. 2008, I came home to find the glass table top had shattered and I had major glass shards to clean up. I had several big paper garbage bags full of the shattered glass. Luckily, I only got a few minor cuts on my finger. K-Mart said the table was under warranty, but not the glass, and there was nothing they could do. K-Mart said I would have to purchase a replacement top which costs upwards to $250.00. This certainly should not be at my expense, since the glass table top obviously was defective. I was finding pieces of the glass shard for months.
The glass from the table top shattered so far from my patio, that my grass was littered with the glass. I had to literally chain my dog to go out and do his business so he would not wander onto the grass as I feared he would cut his paws. Due to his explosive table top, I now have a non-functional patio table.

When I talked to the customer service at Kmart, I was told that they don't honor Sear's pricing. This is only a small item. What about any bigger-priced items that both stores sell? They told me that I could bring it back for a refund, as long as the box was not opened. I have decided to use this as a lesson learned, and I will never shop at any Kmart stores again.

About 7 pm, on 6/11/09, I took my 78-year old grandfather to the store to purchase a new refrigerator on his Sears card. His had just went out and all his food was sitting out in the sink, so he needed one immediately. He picked out the refrigerator and we took the slip to the front desk. It took them 20 minutes to figure out that we couldn't purchase it up at the main check out because it was Sears product. So we had to go to the appliance department to purchase it, which by the way is what we’re trying to do to begin with but no one was back there. They sent us back to the appliance department and we spent another 15 minutes waiting for someone to help us back there. Then Margarita, the woman who helped up, had never worked that department before and couldn't figure out the computer. The refrigerator that my grandfather picked was 20% off and they needed a manager’s discount card to scan in order to authorize the discount.
We waited for 1 1/2 hours for them to tell us that because all the managers were at a party that night and were not reachable. The woman that was supposed to be filling in as a manager had lost her discount card. They were not going to be able to sell the refrigerator. So I asked if they could sell it to my grandfather at the normal price and then he could come back tomorrow to be reimbursed for the 20% off. They said that would be ok. When they went to print the receipt, the machine ate it and we spent another 30 minutes trying to fix the machine and get the receipt back. Then, when that was finally done, she had to make a copy of the receipt and the discount paper and the letter that she wrote so that he won't have trouble getting his money back the next day. She told us to wait for her at customer service. It took her another 25 minutes to make a copy. The loaders put the refrigerator on its side on a huge dolly and got very rude when my husband told them they weren't supposed to lie a fridge on the side.
My grandfather came back the next day to get his $28 back for the 20% off that they hadn't been able to give him initially. The man tried to tell him that he was supposed to pay an extra $30 for the ice maker in the refrigerator. So he was actually coming out $2 ahead. There was nothing on the refrigerator saying that the ice maker was an extra cost. No one the day before who sold him the refrigerator had said this was extra. They just were trying to get out of refunding my grandfather’s money. Finally, he got upset and threatened to file a complaint with Sears and they finally gave his money back after he was there on 6/12 for another hour.
My family has been a big supporter of Kenmore products at Sears for many years. I had a 2-year old, 5-year old, and 78-year old man at that store on their feet for 2 1/2 hours on 6/11 and an additional hour on 6/12. This customer service was despicable and should be embarrassing to Sears. This kind of customer service is exactly why Kmart has had trouble in the past. They should have tried to compensate my grandfather somehow when he returned the next; instead, they tried to con an old man out of his money and did rob him of more time. This was uncalled for and unappreciated and Sears, unless this is made right, may have just lost themselves a large extended family of customers.

This is an update and another complaint from my previous one about the Amelia Island Patio Furniture. I called the K-Mart customer service line and they said that someone from Numark would call me. They called me back 2 days later and told me the table wasn't covered, but they would help out with the chair cushions. They wanted to know the chair cushion's number and when I told them, they said they had nothing to do with the product. They said two different companies made the parts and they didn't make the cushions... JRA did.
I asked to speak to someone else about the issue because I was getting nowhere. The rep transferred me to another lady who said that Numark had nothing to do with the patio sets. They said they bought the design after JRA went out of business. I asked why was K-mart allowed to sell an item that said it had a warranty from a company when they knew that the company had gone out of business the year before. She had no answer and sent an email back to K-Mart asking them to call me.
K-Mart Customer Service called me back 5 minutes later and said they had no idea which company manufactured them without opening the boxes and she said they did not do that before shipping them. Then she offered me a $50 gift card for a $500 something patio set. Ugh! So, I went upstairs and started to go through my paperwork from the patio set and found a number to call in case it was missing parts or there was a problem. It was Numark's number. I have three pieces of paper with Numark's number on them and so I called them back. They said they don't know how the papers got into the box.
Kmart says they don't know how they got into the box because they don't open the boxes and inspect them. (that was their actual words). On a good note, I called the local store to see what they would say about the whole thing and they said they would try to find another set to switch them out. I haven't heard anything yet, so I am not going to hold my breath. I have decided that I am going to keep working on this though, no matter how much frustration it causes me. There is still glass on my patio. I power washed it thinking it was going to get it all up, but no it is trapped in the rug.

I bought the Amelia Island Patio set last spring. Within the first few months, one of the chairs cushions started to disintegrate. I called the company and they said they would send a new one. I waited a few months and never received it, so I called back. They said it was on its way. It never came. I called back a third time and they said they had messed up and it would be coming soon--that was 6 months ago! Now, two other chairs are doing the same thing. Also, about a month ago, we came home to find the table had shattered into pieces. It wasn't windy. It was a beautiful day. The table base wasn't turned over and the umbrella was down. I don't get it! I would like my money back for the whole thing.
We now have a patio set with two ok cushions, no table and it has ruined our summer patio experience. Also, the patio table shattered into such small pieces we keep sweeping to try to get them all up. We thought we got it all, but our two-year old was outside and cut her foot in two places from tiny slivers. I have power washed the patio, so hopefully it is all gone. I will never shop at Kmart again!

According to store policy, it is not permissible to try on a bra before purchasing. This is absolutely ludicrous! There are as many different types of breasts as there are bras to put them in. One cannot possibly know what will fit properly, support effectively and be comfortable without trying it on. The comment from Mr. ** was that this is considered intimate apparel - the same classification as underwear! Trying on a bra is no different than a man trying on a shirt. There are no orifices which may be unclean which may soil the clothing. There is no more perspiration exposed to the bra than a shirt - actually, less because 90% of bras do not come close to touching the armpit. This store policy is the most gender-based prejudiced imaginable! The only alternative available is to buy the merchandise, go somewhere and try it on, and return it and on and on until one finds what fits. I would rather order by mail from some other reputable company and wait, try it on, return it, etc, than give K-Mart my business.

I asked them, "Does he always talk to them this way?" and they told me sometimes worse. This man has no control over his action. He even told this young lady that she didn't care and kept on and on. Then he told her that's why she won't be working there much longer. I asked the same young lady and man who was he talking to. They told me it was the store manager Danice and Miss Shirley.
I sure hope someone looks into this matter. Check their records and see what is going on. This man's name was Joe. He is the most unprofessional district manager, to say the least, I have ever seen. If this is the type of managers Kmart has, I can understand why Kmart is having such a hard time. This type of behavior would stop anyone wanting to shop at any Kmart store. He said their policy was to deduct an average of the coupons used on that receipt and my average was $4.00.
After much ado, he gave me the proper refund. He lied. That isn't their policy. Then he should have just dropped it, but no. He said, "You were only supposed to use up to 10 coupons." I said the ad said 25 per day. He called me a liar and said I was reading the previous week's ad. Then I said, "So your checkout people don't know there is a limit of 10?" He said no. Unfortunately, we were not able to put it on layaway because we were told by an associate that there was a recall on it and that the item was discontinued. Our baby is due in June and we did not want to procrastinate on purchasing a baby crib. So therefore, we chose the next best option, praying that we could somehow be able to purchase the separate changing station which was well over $100. Our first payment was due on Wednesday, 4/8/09. While we were there, we excitedly noticed that the baby crib that we wanted at first was in stock. We immediately notified a Kmart associate to inform her that we wanted to exchange our layaway. They charged us the $10.00 for cancellation fee as well as $5.00 non-refundable fee.
We strongly feel that we should have been told that the baby crib we wanted was going to be in stock within 2 weeks; otherwise, we would have waited. We also feel that the $15 should be credited to our existing layaway account. I really do not see why they just did not transfer $25.63 to our new account. My wife and I feel that management did not handle the situation in a professional manner. I shop at that same Kmart 3 times a week and we are also planning on purchasing the mattress there as well. I would not want any of the employees to get in any trouble because of it, but I would like to receive the $15 to be added to our layaway account.
Lastly, we feel that there should be an exception to the policy for our account, because we were totally unaware that the crib that we dreamed of having for our first child would be in stock 2 weeks later. Thank you so much for taking out precious time to review our complaint.

How is it that companies and individuals can get away with something like this year after year for so many years without regulating agencies hitting them with cease and desist or heavy fines? Please help before it is too late.

I have the Martha Stewart Outdoor bar furniture. Two of the glass sections have exploded as others have described into a zillion pieces. The glass is leaf patterned and I assume would be hard to find. I will have to have new pieces made of tempered glass, which would be about $300 or the same as I paid for the bar itself! There are tiny pieces of glass all over my patio. We even found some pieces as far as the pool, which is about 15' away. It will be expensive to replace as it has to be custom cut.

I stopped there to check on one of the Sears products that I have and I was at the customer service desk with the rechargeable drill that had quit working to see if there was someone available at the store that could possibly be of some assistance. Since they are an authorized Sears dealer, maybe they could be of some assistance to help me. I talked to Judy ** and she started yelling at me that I should know there is no one at the store that could help me with it and I should know more than any body else what was wrong with the drill. All of the people that was standing around the desk were looking at me like, are you going to say something to this lady or just let her get by with the abuse she was giving me.
Well, I don't appreciate that kind of rude behavior from anyone but I have other means to solve problems with employees at the stores and places of business. I am a retiree from the USAF so I know there are other ways to handle problems. There was another gentleman that heard the whole thing and he offered to be a witness to the incident. His name is Fred **. He said he would report her as well. This lady is always rude to others as well this is not the first time. She is this way a lot. It said I had to wait like 47 days before deactivating the phone and bring it back. Meanwhile because they would not refund my money, I had a debit card bounce. I ended up paying $62.00 to the bank. All I'm asking is for my money back for the product. Kmart said no, I had to wait. I have had problems there before. Please help.

Well, I went in to complain about the customer service person that accused my teenage daughter of not paying for something. I told her, " I had a receipt and do not accuse my child of stealing. She would never do such a thing. She has been a model employee with Kmart for 2 years, very nice and very honest child." The customer service person's name is Louise. She is very mean and nasty to customers and Kmart staff and she has the nerve to have been with Kmart for over 20 years.
My daughter felt very hurt that Kmart would allow an employee to say such a thing. I think Kmart really needs to retrain their employee and teach most of them how to talk to customers better because I worked in retail myself for many years and Kmart is horrible. Not all but most of their employees are very, very rude, especially Joy, the manager, and Louise at the service desk.

I went to the Kmart in question following up on an ad in the Sunday paper for a Wii Fit. The ad stated there were only 6 per store and no rain checks. I could not find someone to assist me for 5 mins. I walked up to the Customer Service area to find out if they knew where the Wii Fits were located or if they could find an employee to help me. Prior to me going to the desk, my husband hit the Service button in the Electronics Dept. After waiting in line for another 5 min., my husband returned saying there were no more Wii Fits left for sale but one was on hold. I saw my dad enter the store to buy his own Wii Console so we went back to the Electronics department with him.
We called a service person, again, to find out where the consoles were located. After making the call, we saw they were on the floor behind the counter. Sitting next to the consoles was a Wii Fit and a console with a note on top. The note read, "Joe, Pam called and would like a Wii and a Wii Fit set aside for her. She said she'd be by later to pick it up. -Jay" I was surprised that a phone call was sufficient when a rain check is not. In my mind, a phone call to have it set aside is at best the same thing as a rain check; however for a rain check there is procedure such as BEING IN THE STORE to get it, filling out all customer information. This note only said Pam called without a phone number or even Pam's last name.
We waited for another 10 min. before Joe came back to the Electronics department answering the service call. I explained to him the ad said no rain checks and that a phone call doesn't seem adequate when there are people in store ready to buy the product. He said the Fit was already guaranteed to Pam and there was nothing he could do. I asked for a manager. Joe left for another 10 mins before returning without his manager as he said he would. He said he talked to 2 managers and they agreed it should not have been put on hold but they couldn't change what they had already done as well as an apology and that the person who took the call was a new associate. Even without the run around about the Wii Fit, the lack of service and the time waiting just to talk to someone is enough cause for me to not go back to the Hartford Kmart.

She, Eva, had found only 1 but said there was more when a lady who I would say was her boss said to her, "Show the customer where it is and go back to work. You have lots to do." So Eva found 2 others and dismissed herself and told us if we needed any more help she would be right over there. She spent less than 3 minutes with us. I thought you say, "Customers first." Maybe you should tell the people you have in charge or maybe that is why your store is so slow the bosses will not let the persons do their part. First, there was not another blender on the shelf. So we returned to the service desk and were told that there was nothing they could do and would have to return the item to Hamilton-Beach. Okay, but they were extremely dismissive and rude. In addition they told us originally that we should return the item to the store. Not so, the rude manager told us to take it up with the manufacturer. Some K-Mart warranty. Not only was the extended warranty a rip off but Hamilton-Beach warranties the product for 3 years. It's when we walked out into a very dark parking lot that I have a big problem with. With as nuts as our world is today, I have to tell you that I sure felt unsafe wondering if we would make it to the car safe. What a grand time a criminal would have with this which is thought to attract drug deals, and carjackings.
For instance, car theft, and car break-ins muggers account for most of the average store parking lots' criminal activity that are well lighted, let alone a really dark one. I really think that this safety concern should be addressed and some kind of lighting be done in the parking lot for the safety of your customers as well as the people working for you. Why wait for something bad to happen when a little light could make a big difference? Just wondering but in the meantime I think I will shop where there is light and will tell my friends and family to do the same. Concerned Shopper in Missouri.

My 4-yr-old daughter received 2 Diego Wii games for Christmas this year. I had bought her one at Kmart and her cousin purchased the other one for her at some other store in another state. So, I searched for the receipt to return the one I bought but could not find it. I figured I shop at our local Kmart frequently and the item was unopened... still in plastic wrap... so wouldn't be a problem to return. Boy, was I wrong!
I have never been treated so rudely in my life. The customer service rep asked for my ID and called the manager to the front. The manager then proceeded to tell me that they cannot refund without a receipt. I told her I did not expect a refund but would like a gift card or to deduct the price of the game from another game since that's what my daughter wanted. This rude manager actually cackled! She told me I was not getting anything from them. That the game was probably stolen and that's why I did not have a receipt. What???
I stayed calm and asked didn't they have a Christmas return policy? Not everyone has a receipt for something they received as a gift. She informed me no and that if I didn't have enough sense to keep a receipt, don't come in wasting their time and walked off. I stood there just at a loss for words. The customer service young lady said she could look up the purchase by running the credit/debit card I used to make the purchase. Of course, I had paid in cash. Times were tough this year and I had set aside cash to purchase all our Christmas items so I wouldn't be tempted to purchase more than I had planned by using a credit/debit card. So I'm stuck with a 2nd copy that I don't need/want.
I can sell the 2nd copy of the game easily I'm sure and give my daughter the money to purchase another game. I'm just shocked and amazed at how I was treated by this store manager. The manager has personally waited on me many times at the service desk and even in the checkout lines and always has been pleasant. This incident was just way out of line. I shop at this Kmart a couple of times a week because it's just a 1/4 mile away from our home and Walmart is a couple of miles away. Not any more though. I will not set foot in this store again and will recommend to friends/family that they take their business elsewhere as well. Kmart is higher than Walmart anyway and I've never had anything like this happen there before. If this is the way Kmart treats their customers, they will not stay in business for long anyway. Might as well make the switch now and have a laugh when they finally have to close their doors.

We purchased a lot of Christmas ornaments at KMart in Attleboro, MA, early December. Did not get the chance to buy a Christmas tree until 12/20. Put up the tree and started decorating it when we realized that the lights we had purchased at KMart were not enough for the tree. Since the closest KMart is about 30 mins away from our house, we decided to instead go to Target which is closer. We ended up not using the Christmas lights from KMart. We also did not use the two stockings we had purchased at KMart.
Well, we got quite a bit of snow from 12/19 through 12/21. Between the snowstorm during that weekend and finishing some last minute Christmas shopping between 12/22 and 12/24, we did not have the time to go back to KMart to return the non-used Christmas ornaments. Last Saturday 12/27 we finally had the time to stop by at a different KMart in Fall River to make the returns.
Husband was the one returning the items while I ran inside and made a couple of purchases. Met him at the register where he was being helped. The lady who helped him told him that you normally don't return Christmas ornaments after Christmas, and they have to be returned before Christmas. I explained to that lady that those items were not used, tags and everything were still attached to each of the items. Yet she insisted that we could find the complete store return policy at the service desk in the store (there was not any), which would specify this exception. I just looked online on KMart and was not able to find such exception either.
Did she think that we really used those ornaments with all the tags attached and remove them after Christmas?? And she acted as if she was doing us a huge favor by letting us do the return, when there is NOTHING in the store, on the receipt, or on their website that I could find that states no returns of Christmas ornaments will be accepted after Christmas.

My hopes were to get a store credit and get my daughter another gift and pay any difference. Well, Kmart refused to even attempt to return the gift without a receipt. And to top it off, the customer service lady was very rude. She was in the pizza/snack area and acting very frustrated to have to help me. I went to K-mart on Thanksgiving day 2008 to get an advertised Sony Blu Ray player Model # BDPS-350. I was told that none had arrived and was given a rain check for that particular model. About a week ago K-Mart had called me to let me know my rain check had arrived. When I went to the store to pick it up it was a different model # that they said would still be honored by the rain check. This was not the model # that I wanted nor was it the item I waited on line to get on Thanksgiving day. I refused to take it and was told by the customer service desk that, "you know if you don't take this it will be given to someone else." Does this sound like customer service to you? I walked out and proceeded to go home and call the K-Mart customer Service line. The rep was friendly and courteous and advised me that she would register the complaint with the manager at my local K-Mart and that he would call me on the following Monday.
It was Christmas week so I gave a little leeway because I'm sure things were busy. Well? You guessed it...no phone call. I spoke to my local K-mart this morning to see if the model # that I wanted was possibly in stock and of course they said no. Now the kicker is that on K-Mart's website this morning they are still advertising the Model # BDPS350 while I was told they have no intention of getting it in. When I called customer service the second time today they had no answer for that. This is sheer unabashed bait and switch advertising.
The bottom line to this is I don't have my blu-ray player that I told my children I was going to get for Christmas and I have a rain check that is now worthless. K-Mart should be sanctioned for using this type of advertising. Since Sears now basically owns K-Mart they should honor my rain check for the price of $179.99. I inquired and they said they would not honor the rain check. In addition I think I should be compensated in the way of a deeper discount for the phone calls and aggravation.

Let me start by explaining my story. On 05 December 2008 at approximately 1:30 p.m. my wife and I went to your Kmart location in Lakewood, WA. We went there to go pick up a layaway that we had put down on a Razor electric scooter. We started our layaway about two months ago to ensure that we were able to get what we wanted for our child. So yesterday we show up to pay the remaining balance and pick up our layaway. After waiting approximately a hour and a half at the counter because the lady was working by herself, we finally get to the front and told the young lady that we wanted to pay our remaining balance and pick up our layaway. So she goes to the back to go pick it up and after about 30 minutes of her being back there, she comes back saying she can't find it. So she calls for a manager to come find it for her.
After the manager is back there a good while, she comes back telling my wife and I that we weren't able to find it so she goes to call another manager. He comes back saying that they are unable to find our layaway and there are no other scooters in the store and nothing else they can do for us. So he tells the other manager to start calling the other Kmart locations to see if they have any. Well come to find out there is one but it is pink and we had a red one for our BOY so I replied with, "No, I need any other color but pink because it is for our son." So basically they told us that there was nothing they could do for us then. I was told from the store manager that they would do whatever it took to find it for us or that we would be compensated some way for it.
So after waiting even longer, the manager comes out saying all they can do is refund me my money back and that we wouldn't be charged the $15 layaway fee (Because YOU lost our layaway). Well thank you very much for not charging us for your massive screw up that not only ruined my Christmas but more importantly my son's Christmas. And this is all due to not only having incompetent management but, managers that don't care about customers and their reputation. I will be deploying for my third time to Iraq before next Christmas so I won't be here for my child's next Christmas and wanted this one to be special. Not to mention after YOUR store left me hanging by losing my gift to my son, I did not give up.
I went over 45 minutes out of my way still looking for a scooter in a severe winter storm to get this for my son. Which ended up with us not being able to purchase one because everyone was sold out 5 days before Christmas. So I wanted to personally thank you and your incompetent staff for ruining my family's Christmas. And if you are every bit as incompetent and non-caring as your management staff is in Lakewood, WA, then I'm sure I will not see any response to this or any sort of compensations for your store's actions. I will never shop at you store again and will be sure to tell everyone of your actions and how I was treated. I also plan on taking this as far up as I have to go to let everyone know how sorry you guys are and so poorly managed.

Has been very stressful, and I do apologize once more for the error on those two items. However I am being truthful about the overpricing, and the one box of ornaments not being rang up.

I filled a prescription; when I went to pick it up, I had a coupon from the manufacturer (Glaxco Kline) to pay my insurance co-pay. It would reimburse the pharmacy with a handling fee added. I also had a coupon for a $10 gift card which Kmart sent me as I had not filled a prescription there in a long time and they wanted my business. The assistant pharmacist said I couldn't use both coupons. They were totally unrelated, one from the manufacturer, one from Kmart, one for my co-pay, one for a gift card. I never have trouble using these, as I often get coupons from the manufacturer of my migraine medicine to pay my co-pay. Kmart pharmacies are the only ones who ever give me a hard time, and it is without exception. I took my prescription back and filled it at Longs and got a $30 gift card, no problem.
Point of interest, this prescription was for 60 tablets, and the cost is about $11 a pill; do the math, this was at great cost to your company, for the cost of a $10 gift card. This is why I do not try to use Kmart for my prescription needs - they are the only pharmacy who act like I am trying to steal from them when I try to use the coupon sent to me by your company. This $10 is only a small part of the amount I would have spent yesterday, but I took my business elsewhere, and will in the future. I'm tired of dealing with minor people who think they run your company.

I put a layaway in on 11/18/08, and after I made my first payment discovered that they are charging me for all the purchases I put up on the counter, except that they are not giving me the sale prices, and are charging me full price, and then taking some of my items away. I put (3) 140mm balls for decorations (2 purple, and 1 blue). My receipt only shows (2). I put (2) boxes of ornaments in layaway, and the receipt only shows (1). I put three leaf picks in layaway (2 purple, and 1 fuchsia pink, the receipt only shows two). The ornaments were suppose to be on sale for $5.99, and they charged me $7.49.
I just put a new layaway in 2 days ago, and I noticed that they didn't give me the sale price on a pair of jeans I purchased for my granddaughter. They were suppose to be on sale for a little over $8.00, and they charged me $14.99. I have an idea I know who is involved, if you wish to investigate, and I hope you do. I live on a certain amount of SSD, and I cannot afford to have money stolen from me every time I go shopping in this town. I also want these items I put on layaway for my Christmas. This town did it deliberately, as they made sure I could not get anything but a 4ft. tree knowing I do not have a car to go and purchase the tree I want without asking someone to take me.
I am living SSD, and only receive a certain amount every month. I am 55 years old, and do not have a car. I have to take public transportation to get where I am going. This aggravating for me, as I will not have the decorations I need, and want for my Christmas. I just had all my possessions stolen from me by my landlady, who locked me out of my home while I was in the hospital, and now having to replace everything; and I am not happy.

The female customer service representative told the HANDICAPPED lady she'd better stop complaining or she could tie it (her) DAMN self. When the HANDICAPPED lady argued that she was being mistreated, and she wanted to call the manager, the representative responded, go ahead, I don't need this DAMN job anyway.
I asked my cashier to call the supervisor. The supervisor was rude, and waved me off. I asked her name and she would not give it or take any responsibility. I asked her to call the store manager so I could report what I'd seen. She did nothing. I found someone who said she was the store manager. She would not walk to the check-out with me so I could point out the rep who had been so rude to a HANDICAPPED person. She would not give me her last name, but said her first name was Holy. My guess is, she did nothing after I left. This occurred between approximately 7 and 7:30 pm on Sunday November 30, 2008. I have never seen any employee in their business verbally abuse a handicapped person like this. KMart Midtown Manhattan has a serious problem on their hands, and no one in the store seems to care. I would recommend shutting the store down before the corporation finds itself in some serious legal trouble.

I called a number a friend told me about bad crockpots I believe around 2004 some time. My crockpot had a handle that burned off and the other handle was cracked and burned. They sent me a new crockpot. I had another crockpot from before we were married that I used 4 or 5 times. There was one handle that was cracked with a small burn mark on it. When we married, I put quite a few of my kitchen appliances in boxes to store since we had two of several things. I pulled this older one out 2 weeks ago and with the one handle off, I filled it with chicken thighs and legs. I set it on high for 3 hrs and turned it to low and left for about 4 1/2 hrs.
When I came home the smell of electrical fire was very strong in the house. To the point that it burned your nose and eyes somewhat. The closer I got to the crockpot, the stronger it got. That was the problem. I haven`t used crockpots that much in the past because I prefer to roast or smoke or bake meats. Besides the terrible burn smell in the house, the other handle was cracked. I turned it off of course and took it out on the deck. Removed my chicken and had to put it in a big pot of water to finish.
I am permanently disabled from rheumatoid arthritis and have to used appliances like this from now on. This is the one I brought from my home and had the one handled off. I haven't used it more than a dozen times. The number on it does not match the ones recalled. The model NO. is 3355. I am the kind of person who is willing to let companies know when I get a bad product. Some people think it's no good to even try. I'm not one of those. I want what I payed for. I'm just glad I came home when I did. I don`t want to sue anyone, I just want a new descent cooker. Too many people in the world are sue crazy. I don't check my email very often but I'm almost always here because of my disease. I prefer a phone call. Occasionally I go out to the barn with my blue healer. I try to remember to turn off the computer to receive messages on my machine. Thank You for your time.

I want to compliment Mr. Robert ** as he is a manager at night and very courteous, caring about his community, the store location he works at and his staff.
I am able to see the shelves are well stocked, the environment is good, workers are friendly and happy and performing their job while singing, having fun and also assisting the customers. I only have great things to say and would tell people to shop at K-Mart (especially the location above) before going to Wal-Mart or Target where shoppers throw things down and have no respect. I bought 3 DVD's on 9/27/08, all from the same cheap $1.99 and up display bin. Two of the movies were fine, but one, "Diamond Men", with the wording, "Two Big Thumbs Up" Ebert & Roper, did not. Cost $3.99. I saved the receipt and tried to return it to the place of purchase. Seemed simple to me.
My receipt wasn’t adequate for making a return of this kind. The clerk thought I had waited too long for a return and called back to the electronics dept, to get approval, but got no response. She then paged over the loudspeaker, still with no response. We waited and she finally decided to go ahead with the return anyway. When she scanned my receipt she said that Kmart didn’t have this item in stock and couldn’t get the skew numbers needed to make this return transaction happen. She entered the numbers on the box and it still came up not in stock. Her assumption was that I had not bought it at Kmart, which I had.
With nobody helping the return clerk I took both the receipt and the video and entered the store heading for the video display. All of the copies of this movie were gone. I thought at the time that they would have been pulled because of them not being able to work in regular DVD players. I then went to the electronics dept myself to speak to them. A man in street clothes asked if I need help, asked Kevin to stop and assist me. To which I was told that all returns had to be dealt with at the front of the store. The man in street clothes upon hearing my dilemma came over to assist. He too had the same basic thoughts on the DVD and its origins, until I pointed out that the other DVDs were scanned as VHS's, and Kmart doesn’t sell VHS's anymore.
He agreed to just give me a $3.99 store credit. We walked to the return counter and he told my original clerk to give me the credit. I waited again while the other customers were all helped and again the clerk couldn’t figure out how to make this credit happen. She called in another woman, and was called away. The whole store starts again, with her saying that this DVD is not in stock. She calls back to the guy from the electronics dept and is told to use some code. She then asked me if I had shown any ID. I figured it was to confirm that the original receipt was really charged to me, ETC.
She then starts to enter my Driver's License number into the computer. I asked her, “Why are you entering my information into the computer??” It’s store policy or some such. But, my personal identity is more valuable to me than the $3.99 store credit I would get back on a bad, non-functioning DVD, it was likely a bootleg copy that they had bought through dubious channels anyway. There was no recourse for me unless I would submit to her entering ALL my information into the computer period! I took the aforementioned DVD and my receipt saying, that K-mart had taught me a harsh and firm lesson. But, in fact, it is K-mart that will learn, that in a small town, everyone I come in contact will learn about this incident. They will lose more than my personal business. To hell with the local chamber of commerce and their ‘Keep your money in Big Bear’ campaign. From now on I will shop elsewhere.

A few days ago, I was walking through Kmart, with some friends just gazing, wasting time because it was hot day outside. We got bored and decided to leave, but before we even got to the doors, the buzzers were going off, which puzzled all of us. Next thing we know is that some guy walks up and tells us he knows we stole something. We all know we didn't so we go to the back room and he tries to get a confession from us on something we didn't do.
Even though no one stole anything and he wouldn't tell us what we had stolen he continues to write up a report on each one of us. Then a older lady walks into his office and proceeds to tell us we'll get a fine or bill in the mail from the range of $300-$400. We asked her what we did but she completely ignored and walked away.
Now the guy gives us a piece of paper and tells us to write down our names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. We all do so and he takes it and begins to call our parents and tells them we've been caught shoplifting and they need to come get us or they're going to call the police. While waiting for our parents to arrive, we ask them one more time to let us know what we are being accused of but all they tell us is that we know what we did and we need to be punished, and by now I am FURIOUS. I start to get ******and I thought since they had an attitude with us, I'd give it right back (which I think is totally justified). I begin to raise my voice demanding to know what I've done. The guy got up and tried to be Mr. Boss Man but I laughed in his face. I figured if they're going to accuse us of a wrong, they should at least inform us of what we stole.
DUE TO THIS INCIDENT, I THINK THAT ANYONE WHO IS PLANNING TO SHOP AT KMART SHOULD JUST FIND A PLACE WITH NICER EMPLOYEES. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT INTO A KMART STORE EVER AGAIN.

I bought a patio set Martha Stewart brand about 4 years ago. When I went to pick it up the salesperson at Kmart said my table had shattered and they were going to give me the floor model for a discount. I took it, never thinking about the quality of the set. I assumed they broke the table while moving it. When I got the set home, the umbrella was bent and the cover torn. Two of the chairs were also torn, but Martha's company did send me replacements as the set was brand new.
My set is 6 sided with 6 chairs. I have to say that the table has held up but all 6 chairs are shredded and unusable as is the umbrella cover. The chairs do not have replaceable cushions but are a cloth built right into the frame. Within one season, 2 of the chairs were unusable and by the second season all were torn, shredded and useless. The cloth tears from the top all the way to the bottom leaving a gaping hole that renders the useless.
I have been unable to find a company to replace the cloth without costing an exorbitant amount of money. Many of the chairs tore while people were attempting to sit in them but luckily noone was hurt. It is rather embarrassing though to have your guest sit in a NEW chair you just purchased and have it tear right out from under them.
For the money I paid for this set of outdoor furniture, I would expect it to last more than 2 seasons. I cannot find a company that replaces the cloth for this type of chair except for those that will charge many times the money I originally paid for the set. I can not afford this type of replacement. It would be cheaper to buy another of Martha's crappy sets she sells at Kmart but I don't have the money to keep replacing whole sets every other year. Does Martha own another company that sells replacements for the poor quality merchandise she floods into Kmart stores?

On June 26, 2008 I came in K-Mart and learned that they had merged with Sears and now had Sears Appliances. I met with a man named "Jeff" who was the Appliance Consultant. I told him I wanted to replace my white appliances (range, hood microwave, and dishwasher) with stainless steel. We looked at some and crunched some numbers. He told me to wait until tomorrow (6/27/080 because there would be an additional sale). Additionally, he told me I could go on-line and further look at appliances. So, I did that.
I came back on that next day, Friday, June 27, 2008. We again crunched numbers with the additional sale percentages. I finally agreed to purchase all 3 items. I told him I would need all 3 items installed and my old ones hauled away. He advised me that it was all taken care of and even gave me a Rebate form to submit in order to get my "delivery and haul away' fee back. We arranged to have the delivery date for June 30, 2008. I took off work. On that day when they delivered the 3 items the delivery staff (Jesus T.) advised me that he was only to delivery the items NOT to install because he was not certified. He then called his boss.
He placed the items in my home (in the boxes) while I contaced installation myself via the telephone. Note, this should have been taken care of by the salesman, 'Jeff'. So, I had to give my Sears credit card number to pay an additonal $280.00 to have the installation of the items. I then go back to the store where I had originally purchased the items but Jeff is on Vacation for a week. I speak to a woman by the name of Gayle who doesn't really know how to fix this. She calls another woman and they determine that Jeff failed to put the proper instructions for delivery and installation. Again this is not my fault. I then ask to speak to the manager, Steve C. However, they stated he was in an important conference call. But they said they would work on getting someone out to my home that day (because I had taken the day off work) to install the items.
Before I left the store they told me they would call me within 30 minutes, one way or another to advise me if this could be done. This was approximately 1:00pm. I waited about an hour after hearing NOTHING and called the store. I spoke to a "Nancy" and she stated they were still working on it. I waited another hour and then telephoned Mr. C., the store manager, and explained things to him. He indicated he would follow up on it. He further stated he was sorry and if I was in the store again to come by his office and he would give me 10% off something (I took this as an attempt to appease me).
I waited until about 4:50 pm and again called the store. Steve and others who were working on this and said they would get back to me were gone for the day. I was then told by Nancy or Patty (who was still there) it (the installation) could not be done. I then told her that I wanted the items returned since no one could give me an installation date which I had already paid for. She then tells me that I would be required to pay 15% restock fee on each item. So, I told her that they were attempting to hold me "hostage", in that they will not give me an installation date nor will they return the items based upon the fault of the store. I then got on the phone myself and arranged for my own intallation speaking to several Sears personell throughout the U.S. (Laura, Ray, Jai, Esh, etc).
Also, I spoke to someone who told me that Nancy was wrong in telling me that I would have to pay a 15% restocking fee since it was no fault of mine. This person then spoke to her supervisor who "didn't wish to get involved in a dispute between the customer and the client". I then took off work on Thurday, July 3, 2008 after again ensuring that someone would be there to install my appliances. A man by the name of Pat called my home and said he would be there in 20 minutes. He arrived and told me I would have to pay &75.00 for haul away of appliances and install of something for the dishwasher as the paperwork he had did not show that it had been paid. I then showed him my receipt and paperwork from the store which showed that it had been paid for. He said if it was not on his paperwork he needed to have the payment per his supervisor.
I called the store manager (Steve) who spoke to the technician. The technician still would not budge. So, the installer perceeded to install the items. When he completed the install of the dishwasher and then pulled the protective film off of the stainless steele front, we both noticed there were 3 obvious dents in the dishwasher. I told him to take it out. He stated Sears would replace it. I then get on the phone to the store manger, Steve, and told him I was coming in and I wanted a replacement and it installed and delivered the same day because I had already taken 2 days off. While I was in the store Steve spent almost an hour on the telephpne trying to get that accomplished. He found the model but could NOT get anyone to install it on the day it was to be delivered (the following Saturday, July 5, 2008).
The policy is not to install and deliver the same day according to the K-Mart/Sears. He told me that someone would call me that day to advise me of the status. Of course you can imagine that no one called after 3 hours so I called and spoke to Nancy. She stated before she left for the day (5:30 pm) she would call me as she was still "working" on it. I did not believe her so I went in to the store and met with Steve (the Manager) who told me that they could not install and delivery the same day. By the way Nancy had gone home according to Gayle who was working in Appliances.
I then told Steve to have someone come out on the next available day (which they told me was Sunday july 6, 2008) to unistall and take the dishwasher out of my home and credit my account for the total amount. Steve apologized and said he was willing to give me $200.00 off another dishwasher but at this point I do not wish to do any further business with this store. I also told him that I wanted to be reimbursed for the 75.00 the installer had me pay. Steve did reimburse me for that. So, at this point I am awaiting them to pick up the dishwasher on Sunday July 6, 2008. Before I left I asked for the name of the District Manger, a Susan W., and her number; which they gaveme a 1=800 #. I called and gave all the aforementioned information to a "Sesalee" who satated that someone would get back with me in 24 to 72 hours.
I lost 2 days of work (at $56.00 an hour. When I do not work I do not get paid). The installer took my old dishwasher away so I have no dishwasher. (please note my dishwasher was in great condition.I only replaced it because of the color). I paid an installation fee for the dishwasher of $139.00 which Steve stated he would work to reimburse me for. But they could not reimburse me that day because I had paid for it via telephone with my credit card (if they are Sears/ K-Mart why can't they verify that...not me.) Now I have to go out and find a new dishwasher but I need my account credited.

We bought our Amelia Island dining table set at the Paradise K-mart a few months ago. Two days ago, the table shattered into tiny tempered glass fragments all over our lawn. Luckily, no one was hurt, but we are afraid there is still glass in our lawn after 4 hours of cleaning, including using a shop vacuum, rakes, and the three of us hand-picking pieces out of the grass. We have two large dogs, and now are afraid to let them out on the grass for fear that a piece we missed will cut their paws.
I thought that the tempered glass meant it was safe and damage/break resistant--and that the glass wouldn't cut you if it did break. My son cut his finger helping us pick up pieces--not badly, but it did bleed and require a bandage. I would never have purchased the set if I thought it would shatter all over like it did.
I called the customer care center for K-mart.com, and was directed to the local store we bought the set from. The manager of the store said even though it was within the 90 days, we couldn't bring it back or exchange it or get a refund because, anything could have happened to the table and it wasn't the store's fault it broke. After reading through the complaints on this site, I think it is the store's fault for selling a defective item to begin with. They shouldn't be selling these tables at all.
The table originally cost us $120. I just got a quote from a glass company to replace the glass top for $160. Now that I know what I do about the tempered glass, I think we will take the advice on this site, and not go with glass at all. Instead, we will have to purchase a new table that doesn't have glass.

The manager was immediately had a bad attitude. He made my companion walk him back to where we picked the 12 items up and prove to him the listed price. When he came back, he pushed a few keys on the register and entered the listed price. I asked if they removed the wrong charge from the amount; they said yes, but when the casher told me the total I felt something was wrong so I asked again. The casher assured me it was right, so I paid and moved on. I then decide to sit at the in-store table and do my own adding. In doing so I discovered I was over-charged $61.00. I returned to the service desk and informed the casher there that I was OVER charged. She looked at my receipt and agreed. The manager Tom Allen was asked over and over for help, and but he just continued to walk away.
I was at the service desk for 2 hours and 45 minutes still with no help from the manager. When he walked by again I again asked him for help; he turned to me and said, "Don't you see I am busy?" I blew up at this point and told him to give me all my money and for them to keep all of the stores' products. I wanted to leave. He made it seem like this was my problem, not his. Finally he took a moment of his precious time to hand me my $252.13 in a rotten way. I then told him that it takes me an hour and a half just to get to K-Mart to purchase the things my family needs. He replied by telling me this was not his problem. I was laughed at by all the cashiers like this was a big joke.
Being overcharged and then being made to wait for over 2 and 1/2 hours for refund is out of line. I find the whole crew at the Gretna K-Mart needs some serious training--maybe even some home-training. There was only one young woman in the whole store that I find was doing her job with a pleasant way about her. Erica Williams is her name, and I am thankful she was the one behind the service desk . I was hoping, since it was half a set, they might reduce it even further and - in my mind - thoughtfully brought the other set along for the price tag as reference. The cashier (who was nice) called the acting store manager over. I repeated my request.
Before I could finish, she started walking away with a "that's why it's on clearance". I called out to her retreating back, but it doesn't even have a tag on it. After purchasing the furniture, it was used/stored on a covered deck throughout the year. In August 2005, we moved from Pennsylvania to Missouri. The furniture was stored in a temperature controlled storage building until February 2007 while we built our house. The furniture has been outside under our covered patio since February. In late October, we heard a loud noise outside. We found that the glass table top had shattered into pieces, but the lazy susan did not break. The chair cushions were covered in glass pieces and shards. I went online to find out why glass would shatter for no apparant reason and found the articles about the Martha Stewart tables.
I paid approximately $400.00 for the table and chairs. The table is no longer usable and the chairs are full of glass shards that I can't remove.

Good luck getting Kmart to honor the car battery warranties that are printed right on the register receipt. They're supposed to give you a pro-rated refund that's determined by how much time has passed since the purchase date. But instead they'll try to give you $6.99. It's not even the employees who are doing the chicanery. The Kmart database is not set up to properly finalize a pro-rated battery refund. I went to two different Kmarts. At each store the system generated a pro-rated refund of $28.00, but when the employees went to finish off the transaction the refund amount lowered to $6.99. I fought long and hard enough, and after a few days the manager finally gave me a $28.00 giftcard, but it really appears that Kmart has no intention of properly honoring its warranties.

I had purchased a Martha Stewart Victoria glass top patio table which has now exploded/broken into a real mess. I was understood when I purchased the table that this was tempered glass and would not shatter. I am wondering if I can get compensated for damages with the class action law suit against this manufacturer?
We were not using the table at the time, but with no warning or anyone near the table it exploded....creating a shattered mess. I'm so happy no one was injured, but I would like to have the glass replaced in my table. Please let me know what I can do about this. Thank you.

In the beginning of April I purchased two toddler beds for me children through Kmart.com. Within a couple of days, I noticed the amount I purchased the beds for, appeared back on my debit card. I called and spoke with a representative who told me the reason the amount was credited back to me was at the time when I ordered the beds were out of stock. He said so many people order through Kmart's Website, and they do not know when an item is out of stock.
Due to the information I was told, I ordered the beds through Target instead. A couple of weeks later I noticed Kmart sent me an email stating the beds were shipped out. They sent me this email on April 27,2007, as soon as they sent it to me I replied do not send the beds, because I reordered them from Target. On April 30,2007 they debited my card for over $200.00. This really sent my blood pressure up sky high. The company totally ignored me and proceeded to take my money anyway. That was money I needed to pay bills and take care of my 2 small children's needs with.
When I asked how to get my money back, I was taken around the mulberry bush, until I finally spoke to a lady with common sense who advised me to notify UPS so I could refuse the package. No other representative had common sense to give me this advice.
This was a horrible experience, I will never ever order from Kmart on line. They are very quick to take your money, but do not like to give it back. This situation almost brought me into tears, because as a hard working single mother who depens on any extr money I get, this situation really had an effect on me.

I called to find out why and was told that the table was out of stock. I asked when they thought it would be back in stock and was told by a rep (Susan) that she didn't know but to keep checking the website. I then asked to cancel the chairs since they were not needed without the matching table and umbrella. She refused to cancel chair delivery stating that I could always refuse delivery when they showed up.She suggested that I recheck website for new inventory in a day or two. 4/12/07- I checked the website and the table & umbrella are back in stock.
I tried to order but shipping that cost $20 on 4/9 is now $90. Also, the table was on sale on the 9th for $150 (sale ended the 14th). However, now the table is not showing up for sale and it should be. Called 866-562-7848 and was told by a rep (Jude) they can reorder the items EXACTLY as I had ordered on the 9th but that the system was down could I call back in a couple hours. Did not have a chance to call back that evening. 4/13/07 Went back onto the website and tried again. Once again, the shipping was $90 instead of $20. Also, the table was still not showing up on sale. I called back and spoke to a rep (Mark). I told him all the background and that Jude had said he could reorder the items with the same costs and shipping. Mark said that my order was cancelled due to pricing issues as well as no inventory.
I explained that the website says that the items are in stock, the sale was supposed to be on through 4/14 and asked why Jude said he could reorder exactly as before and now they can't or won't. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager (Jenny) said that I would not be getting the table or umbrella from them. She said that the inventory says they have one table in stock but that really means they don't have any available. I asked her how they could advertise an item on sale with low shipping and once the order is placed change everything. I also asked her to confirm with me the tracking number for my chairs since the one they sent to me via email was not a valid UPS tracking number.
She told me its being shipped via FEDEX but that the number is also invalid for them. I should expect it tuesday or wednesday the following week but that I would not at any time be able to get the table or umbrella from them even though their website says it is in stock. When I asked her to explain to me why Jude said he could help me and she refuses to she said "I don't know what to tell you. You cannot get the table or umbrella. And your order was cancelled due to inventory and shipping price errors." I found her to be rude and absolutely unconcerned with the fact that I had been given the run around all week and lied to.

I went to Kmart last spring. I was 38 weeks pregnant and needed a few final things before the blessed arrival. I carried my then-14-month-old daughter into the Kmart store, where I walked slowly past 3 associates talking (loudly, and not about work). I tried to get a cart with a safety belt. The first 2 had none. The third had one, but it was stuck inside another cart. I tried 4 or 5 times to pull it loose, to no avail.
I looked over and saw the customer service (HA!) desk. There was a tall male manager there, watching me. When I began to ask for help, he suddenly turned and walked away. The 3 associates were still chatting away. I turned around, and another customer had left during this time (apparently) so there was a cart parked next to this nest of 2 hens and a rooster cackling away. It had a safety belt - yeah! I made the comment to them as I walked away that I guess they were on break.
I needed picture frames - got them. I needed laundry baskets - got them. I needed a rocking chair. Couldn't find them. I searched for an associate near the RTA furniture. It's right next to Layway (and apparently the employee lounge) so there were 2 employees there. As I walked toward the associate with a rolling work cart, she looked at me, and then noticed another employee. As I said "excuse me" for help, she quickly turned to her right and began telling the other woman how glad she was that it's time for her to leave.
I loudly said again "excuse me". Nothing. "I can chase you I guess, but I'd rather not" was my next line. The older woman finally turned to me. "Yes" was her response. She then pointed me to another aisle - "I think they might be over there, if we still carry them. I'm not sure." I wasn't sure where she was pointing as she turned and walked back to her buddy.
I wrote a letter to the store and to the coporate office. I have heard NOTHING. And Kmart wonders why they are sinking!

When the pants in question scanned half price it was because of one of our buy-one get-one-half- off sales -- any customer can come into the store, buy two pairs of pants and get the second pair (of equal or lesser value) at half price. Therefore if you are returning pants we will give you half price back because that is the lowest price that has been paid for them in the recent past. To avoid any difficulties keep any and all receipts, and do so for others when you buy gifts in case there is a reason for the recipient to return their gift, they can receive the price that was paid for the merchandise. Brought it home and hooked it up and it did not work. Thought it might be the phone jack on the wall so I had it replaced. The phone still would not work. So I exchanged it for another phone same model. This phone worked great for one week. Then people started telling me they had been trying to call and I wasn't home.
Come to find out this phone also stopped working. No ring, no caller ID or answering machine. So again I returned it. The warranty on the phone says 30 day over-the-counter exchange. After two bad phones I wanted a different brand of phone or my money back. Kmart said no. They do not refund on defective electronics, I must return it to Bell South. The 30-day-over-the-counter exchange is only for the very same model phone. No money back on a different brand.
Now I had all my receipts. They had no more Bell South phones so I am stuck with a $70.00 phone that doesn't work and a phone number for Bell South that no matter what button you push you only get a computer announcement.

At about 5PM on Saturday, Ocober 28,2000, my girlfriend and I went to the local K-MART to get a rain poncho, some socks and some toiletries. The man in the sporting goods department (I forget his name) was helpful enough. He answered our questions about a poncho (that I needed for an outdoor football game that I was going to attend the very next day) and even let us open the package to see if the poncho fit properly. It did, so we thanked him for his help and we proceeded to do the rest of our shopping in the store and after picking up several items, we went and got into line.
After standing in line for at least 5 minutes (which can seem more like 10 minutes sometimes), the cashier turned off her light and told the rest of the line (there were 3 other customers in front of us and 2 or 3 more behind us)that her line was now closed and that we would need to find another line to stand in.
My girlfriend was furious but not nearly as vocal and profane in language as the man who was directly in front of us. He shouted to the cashier that he was told by ANOTHER cashier in ANOTHER line to come to this particular line. The cashier again said that this line was closed and left the checkstand. The man in front of us shouted that this was a bunch of "baloney" (that wasn't his precise wording, but his exact words are too profane for this website) and he stormed off. He only had one item (a magazine) but he did get into another line.
I told my girlfriend that we should go to the sporting goods department and see if we could purchase the poncho there. She said that that was fine with her, so we put the rest of the merchandise (some socks for her, a VHS blank tape for me and some toiletries for the both of us) on a nearby shelf. I know, that wasn't nice, but we weren't in the nicest of moods at this point. We went back and paid for our poncho in the sporting goods department with no hassle.
My girlfriend was still mad when we left the store. She reminded me that that is why she wanted to go to WAL-MART in the first place, because they had better prices AND better service. I guess that I should have listened to my girlfriend. My question to you all is this: Is this a common procedure at K-MART? If it is, I never experienced before October 29th of 2000.
This was not an earth-shattering or devastatingly bad day in my life and I wouldn't pretend like it was. But it was definitely an inconvenience, not only to my girlfriend and I, but also to several other customers in front and back of us in line. And, having worked in retail for more than 16 years, I realize that this is embarrassingly bad customer service. My girlfriend was frustrated and angry. She hasn't been back to K-MART since and says that she'll never go back there again. From what we read, Kmart is steadily losing market share to Wal-Mart, Kohls, Target and others. They seem to have lost track of some of the basics of retailing.

Today my daughter who is not a child, but a 26 year old married woman who is expecting her first child was treated very rudely by both the manager and head manager of this location. Never in my life have I ever heard of a customer being treated so rudely. Allow me to explain.
Last year in August, I bought my daughter some maternity clothes. She ended up losing her baby before she even got to wear them. Now she is pregnant again, but the clothes are too small. All the items still have the original tags on them and have never been worn. She simply wanted to exchange them for larger sizes.
The first manager (lady, shall I say) was very rude to her, stating that that was not their policy and she could not and would not do that. Offered her $5 apiece for them. Then she literally threw the policy at my daughter's face. This is not blown out of proportion either, as my other older daughter was there as well.
She then asked to speak to her boss. Another manager came out (a red haired thin man) he was just as rude and told her no way and offered her $2 apiece. She explained she only wanted to exchange them for larger sizes.
I can tell you now, Kmart has not met my family's expectations and I feel that you are no longer Customer focused when you treat customers this way. My family has shopped at Kmart for many years and we have always talked highly of your store. I will no longer do so, and word of mouth advertisement is what all companies need. I am totally disgusted with your management and the unprofessional behavior toward customers and I will voice my opinion to all I know.
What has happened to your company? We are a upper middle class working family that work hard for our money and spend it at establishments that know how to treat customers. I am myself in upper management and would never tolerate an employee to treat the customer the way my daughter was treated today. Most of all the thought of treating a pregnant women that way is deplorable. My company's policy is "To meet or exceed the Customers expectations." I can see yours is not. Thank you for listening, Yours Truly ...
They wrote back saying they would have the district manager contact me. As of this day I have not heard a word from the company.
