There just is not enough information on people. For one thing, you don't use social security number so it is hard to pinpoint who you are looking for. And every time I put a name, the message that show up does not tell me anything except if I want more information that I need to pay more. I called for support and they told me the message means is that's all they could get on that person. I explain to him that when I first started using this site it gave me more to go on. He stated I could always stop using this service if I was not happy. And that was no help at all.

I pay a monthly fee but for the last 2 months, I have not been able to access any reports that I have run. All I get is the name and when I click on one of the tabs - all that happens is that it just keeps trying to open but never does. I get the Found A Bug icon on the side and I have reported this problem numerous times but I don't get a response or the problem fixed.

I signed up. Started a search and realized through the process they kept adding upgrade costs for services advertised as included. Very misleading. I called them immediately to cancel and complain. The lady spoke with her supervisor and agreed to half the cost. No deal. I would settle for nothing but a full refund as this is a scam. She went to supervisor again and agreed to a total refund but it would take up to five days to process. What a rip off.

I don't think we are given enough information for what you say we would be given. No marriage info and a lot of information that I just don't care for. Horoscopes who cares about that? And we can get some of the info without paying for it on other sites like address, phone numbers etc. And when I go under the same person a week later sometimes, it's very different from the last time; I don't get it and what to trust.

This site is easier than some other search sites!

I signed up for their $1 five day trial membership in order to conduct one search. The search produced no more valid information than is available from white pages and google searches but also generated a bunch of incorrect data. When you take out a trial membership, you also agree to automatic renewal at $30 per month thereafter. I should have immediately processed a cancellation. Unfortunately, I did not print the contact data from the website and therefore my credit card began being charged the monthly membership fee.

It doesn't really tell me anything I do not already know or cannot find for free. Example: I typed in names I knew had records and your site did not inform me of them. Another example... I am looking someone up from "State A" then I decided to look up the same person from "State B" and your site would not let me do that. It would automatically take me to a person on the list and that was it. IT would not refine to the next state I was requesting.

I wanted to get the current address of Daniela **. You got ** ; ** and ** but none of those address are a current one. If I can get the current one I will be very satisfied and happy. Thank you.

I came across this company while checking a phone number on WhitePages.com. They are sneaky and deceptive. I would not want to do business with them. They lead you on, thinking you will get info about the phone number of the guy who has been making harassing hangup phone calls. Several pages show a green progress bar which is just there to waste your time. They do not mention their $30.00 per month charge for this information until you sign up, giving them your name and email address.

So far, I have paid for this several months now and have yet to get any relevant current info. I keep giving it one more chance hoping it will be useful but my patience is about to run out and I will be giving another service a chance.

I find names with partial & a lot of incomplete info & accuracy. The main one I have been looking for Instance, the birth date is incorrect, yet the family members are generally accurate. The arrests are all in the wrong State (yes I verified this out our county courthouse) and the address is usually a couple of years old. So this has been exhausting not to even come close, I would say, to finding what I am so desperately trying to VERIFY.

A few years ago, someone physically threatened my son, and then went to federal jail for some sort of unrelated crime. His wife wanted to divorce him. I wanted to know if he was out of jail and divorced by now - safety concerns - and zeroed in on him and his name and address accurately. I was told to be prepared for terrible news, and that I might be shocked and distressed if I learned the truth about friends and acquaintances who might be criminals or sex offenders. I had to promise I was over 18. Having paid for 2 "prime" searches on top of my membership, I learned absolutely nothing. They said they had no access to jail time, or marriage/divorce records. In my opinion, the owners of the site should spend a little time inside to see how it works (after being taken to court, of course). How are they allowed to continue this scam business?

I really expected a little more information with the membership, and disappointed that the website asked for more money to obtained that information. To be fair, this website does give you just the "basic" information... incomplete, or missing family members makes me wonder where they get their information which I found a little strange.

I was led to believe that I signed up for a 30-day membership only. My credit card company shut down my card because the account was compromised. They couldn't tell me which merchant compromised the account but it was easy to figure out it was Checkmate because I don't use the account often. Checkmate told me that reoccurring change per month would occur if I didn't call and cancel the membership. A 30-day only membership is just 30 days! No charges should reoccur each month thereafter.

I was doing a random search about my name in Google. And I found out "1 results found for 'my name' with possible criminal records". I was freak out and made the payment and registered. There was no criminal records under my name. They even do not know my birthday. I called the service line to cancel. The representative said they say this for everyone. She said they use this frame "1 results found for 'my name' with possible criminal records" for everyone. I recorded the conversation by the way. This is totally spam. After couple of minutes of registration, I started seeing some spam e-mail in my e-mail account. They apparently sold my e-mail address to the 3rd party. Now you can say how you can be sure. I used a nickname that I have not used before. And the spam e-mails just arrived using my nickname that I have not used before after my registration. I am totally disappointed. Please do not use this company. I am looking for legal ways to get my money back (I am not a native English speaker, sorry for potential grammatical mistakes).

Went on Checkmate.com. After reading promises of getting criminal info on a person. Approximately $60 later, nothing but address, email... Don't do it. THEY ARE FRAUDULENT. Called and complained, but they were rude... and didn't even want to have me explain. IT'S A TOTAL SCAM. DON'T GIVE your $$$$ to this company.

I had a credit card compromised and replaced it. It may be the one I used to pay for this in the first place. I am trying to buy it again but every attempt fails and does not even allow me to enter a different credit card. Please call me at ** to help me straighten this out.

Checkmate billed my Visa for $90.00 for "premium access.” It is the biggest scam on the internet. I found more info on my own than Checkmate found. Their excuse was "different jurisdictions have different laws for access to records.” I found quite a bit on my own and went to Checkmate to find the rest. But Checkmate said "No Records Found.” This site is run by THIEVES and their only purpose is to scam you out of your hard earned money. Run away fast. Do not give them your credit card number. I had to cancel my Visa to keep them from taking any more.

This company promotes nothing but a scam. When I called to get my money back they wouldn't do it and said they ARE NOT qualified to do the criminal checks. Clearly when I started to try and look someone up it said criminal charges and backgrounds were being searched. DON'T CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. Go elsewhere for your background and information needs.

Spent $22 for 1 month and it's a joke. They didn't have records of most of the people I looked up and the information they did have is free on other sites. I cancelled the account 20 minutes after I signed up for it. Don't waste your money!

I subscribed to this site to ensure my safety in the new dating world of online dating. This site has provided me with information on subjects that I was pursuing me as a potential date. This site is awesome!!!!!!

I find that some of the search result(s) birthday's reflect the current day the search was performed upon which I know for certain that some of the results are not that date of birth.

You guys just removed the phone contact from search results and asked for more money to supply with premium but that is false. I paid more but got same results. Will definitely not renew my sub. You have downgraded your service… unhappy user. You know that.

I was conducting a periodic background check/credit check on myself, and the Instant Checkmate program came up in a search. I entered basic information, and was shocked to see a notice of warning for "dangerous/shocking information." When I was prompted pay in order to continue, I chose the cheapest plan (that is far from cheap at ~$22.00 a pop). When my "report" loaded, I discovered what anyone could by conducting a basic/free internet search and, as I hoped, I found nothing whatsoever that was "dangerous/shocking."

Your service isn't current as I've entered deceased members from last year (checking current addresses for VFW Auxiliary members) and there isn't info on them...

The system is very easy to use. Advise all to be very careful for typos because there is NO WAY to delete anything. Sometimes the system will not come up with the exact name ordered and there is no way to remove that. Other than that, I would say extremely easy to use.

I just got my statement and found that I was charged for each time I went online and looked up a person and wanted the premium.... I was completely unaware that they would charge 10.00 for each person... Not 10.00 for the added feature!!! I've talked to several people and they were charged extra too and didn't realize they would be.. Why can't they be honest with what the charges will be.. I was charged to sign up $23.40, then an added fee of $22.86 for I don't know what and then 10.00 for a premium of each person I looked up... I will tell all I know not to sign up for this rip off!!!!!!

I never got One piece of information on marriages or divorces. I don't care about horoscopes - don't use. Very seldom anything about licenses. Very seldom anything about arrests. I will not pay extra for premium data.

Very often I look up someone by name and address and need a number but have to pay more just to get a number. I find more info on White Pages for free than I do on this site.

You present with providing any/all info available for subject name requested, but then you send a mediocre return, and then say for more info, I need a "premium" option for MORE money. I will be watching my c/card, and IF there are charges that are not acceptable, then, we will take appropriate action.

I purchase checkmate for 22.95 for 1 month. I check someone that I know has a criminal record and it came back nothing. I check someone with another name that I know has a criminal record too - nothing. I used it for 7 min and I can't get my money back.

I found the whole site to be confusing and very disappointed with reports, because I know the people I looked up all had been arrested several times and there wasn't information of those arrest. I'd like to know how much I paid and for how long!

Every time I have used Checkmate it has been fast and easy. Results have been accurate. Would recommend it highly.

I wondered why many people I requested weren't "there". It's a nice site. I didn't find my people, and they hadn't moved. Which was puzzling.

Know several people that have criminal felonies. The background searches I did, none of them came up with their actual criminal charges. Wish I could get money back.

Next, I was to login, etc., and thought I would immediately receive access to the report, but was routed to Instant Checkmate again and now am filling in "Your Experience". If this is a report I have to pay for, I am not interested. This person attends our church and an issue came up today that seems to indicate he may have a criminal background and I wanted to check him out. Thank you. Your website seems to be incredibly fast and accurate, but IF I have to pay for the info I must refrain. Limited funds.

This loser app only finds people with only social media accounts. Ancestry search provides more content than this CRAP APP!!!!

I am writing this review because I am very dissatisfied with this service. It advertises that you can see all this information on here but in my experience all you get is very basic information, once you get your credit care information in, it tells you if you want to see more information it will cost you more money, that angers me, and makes me feel like I got ripped off and feel it`s very misrepresented. I looked one person up and some information was right but under the arrest record there was clearly a totally different person's name there.

I am finding a little info on the people I'm looking for... I think it needs to be 100 percent free... A lot of people can't afford it or have debt cards... Thank you all for having the info out there for people to look up...

I did a trial for InstantCheckmate, Inc on their website promising to provide public records which include death certificate, marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc. but the only thing that popped out was the name (even the birth date is wrong). Funny thing was that the person I am looking for is a family member that has a unique name and location that the chances of it to be mistaken is very low.

The records found were nothing and that's not what you're promoting. I found out more just searching the name on the web. I would think a paid service should be able to provide more. My subject shows 2 arrests yet no data is showing up in the report. When the subject's name is searched they come up and there again is Instant Checkmate available to get the arrest data, but once you pay I guess that makes you ineligible, right.

You advertise everything in the premium package as being a part of the purchase package of unlimited backgrounds. That's the only reason I joined your site. I would prefer my money back if that is an option. I have too many people to find and verify that I cannot waste a single ounce of my time if it goes nowhere, which is exactly where you take me on every search! It's a scam and you continue to do so because you are not regulated well enough!

David ** date of birth was 4/4/2014, age 61??? Your computer was very slow!!!! No one was married, even if I know I attended the wedding. The only information available was name, address, date of birth and relatives. Vincent ** had no arrests and died in 1988. GIGO. I really had a ball today relaxing and although I did not check my personal information because nothing was available, I got what I paid for.

The first subject you provided was, per your records, tied to my brother's father, wife and daughter. However, he lived in Port Jefferson, NY. My brother lives in Ballston Lake, NY. On the second attempt to look at my brother's records, you did get the correct man. However, several of the relatives listed are not related to my brother. I noted that on the non-relatives profiles by using the rating section. I do think that when someone first enters a name for a report, they should be given the opportunity to provide more detail about the person they are looking for, if they have it.

Saw Publishers Clearing house record saying I had possible 2 arrests - never been arrested. Want to hunt down mis-info and correct/remove. It wants complete name, but gives me no opportunity to enter it and you won't even collect but one middle name initial, nor allow a two word first name.

After paying for the so-called "Premium Report" (on myself), as well as the extra $1.99 for PDF, I was extremely disappointed in the missing information not contained within this report. For example - Related Persons only showed my ex-wife, deceased father and current wife. Yes, I have been arrested, however not 1 arrest record was found. Business Affiliations; 24+ years in Engineering related work and I previously owned my own business - nothing listed. Assets; I own several parcels of land and my own home - nothing listed. Marital/Divorce records - Married twice, divorced once - "no records found". I believe that I made the wrong choice in using this service. By what I have experienced it is my belief that Instant Checkmate business practices border on the line of fraud - but who am I to say, I'm not a lawyer.

I have looked at two of these sites, but did not join because I read all the fine print.

I am astonished that marriage reports are not included. Sometimes Location is not updated. Rest is fine.

I registered a basic account and I knew more information about the people I looked up than Instant Checkmate did. So I decided to do the Premium account, wouldn't work. It was like the program was frozen. I called Instant Checkmate to terminate entire service. They told me that they could only do partial refund. I utilized their services for 30 minutes! I filed a dispute through my bank.... Instant Checkmate is submitting claim for full payment now! I'm not paying them one thin dime. This company is a SCAM!

I didn't even have to purchase anything to know this is a scam... Every time I went to click out of the page it would engage a pop-up saying 'Don't go, we'll lower the price for you blah blah blah'.. at one point it was down to a dollar but I still didn't give in. I entered my email address and now I have junk mail ALL over my inbox. IF you go to this site just because you're curious, do not give out any information, not even your email. You will get scammed.

Some things I knew to be accurate were not found on this site; others I found easily. I had assumed at the first inquiry, that I would get all the information on this person. I did not realize I would need to look up each individual subject to inquire. I do think the explanation of what you get when you purchase this needs to be more accurate as I had understood ALL the information including legal records would be able to be found. Most of the information I could have gotten out of the phone directory or other free services. Thank you.

Looking into my own record I found a long list for a white blue eyed female, not me. However, she has my address and my relatives not really accurate. My baby sister is listed as 94 yrs old. My neighbor who is younger than me is also listed as 74 yrs old. All wrong and someone who did malicious destruction of property, he has no record at all?

I am married to the man. No marriage records. He was arrested last year, that was not included. The ONLY thing I learned for the approx $40 I spent was the lien information. Your site said his info had been updated in the last 24 hours??? There was NOTHING on your site... not even the fact that he has a FACEBOOK account, which should be the easiest thing to find.

The information was vague. I ended up getting all kinds of junk mail. I assume you sold my email! It was hard to log on and I never did get my last report. Also after looking myself up I do NOT have traffic tickets in Texas!

They offer you up a free report which then leads you to select a $ package. You give up your data and DO NOT get anything back under the free option which is highly misleading, false advertising and basically a scam - BEWARE!

I saw on AOL on how you can find information on someone, so I decided let me join for one month. Well after I paid and I'm thinking, "great now I get to see what this person is about." Nothing. All I got was his name and address and age that I already knew. Click to see if he was marry which I know he is and it didn't give me any information. I want a refund and I decided to do a check on myself. They had me like I was born today and that I'm 63, which I'm not. This is all false advertisement. I want a refund. Why charge $22 for no information. It just wants you to keep adding money. I don't think that's right.

I saw the "story" on the AOL homepage about Instant Checkmate and thought I'd check it out. As soon as I put my name in, up popped a notice that people who may be related to me had "graphic" and disturbing arrest records. I went ahead and signed up for the $22.86/month with the intention of checking them out and cancelling, but didn't even get past the first 5 minutes. As soon as they processed my payment, I was sent a "report" which contained nothing but my name, address (from 6 years ago, I might add) and my age. When I wanted to access these "graphic and alarming" arrest records, I was informed it would cost an additional $19.99. They claim to have disturbing information on my kids and my ex too, yet all they could show was their addresses.

The information provided to me was nothing more than address updates. The premium, both of which I purchased was utterly dissatisfying. I feel that your services and information to which you claim to be able to provide are misrepresented. The search I did on myself was not even accurate. Will not recommend this to anyone. Sorry.

Disappointed in the amount of data available and presented - often outdated and incomplete information available with sources. No option to upgrade for a premium data service only phone numbers.

Very good information with many facets for each area of concern. One who purchases this service needs some common sense and personal information in order to ascertain what degree of accuracy are in the reports that you collected. More research may be needed to tie up the ends. I am quite satisfied, as I have done investigating, reporting, and recording for both police and private security for industrial management for over 30 years. I got more than what I was expecting. Your services opened a lot of doors. Thank you.

While subscribing to Instant Checkmate. I click on the $9.95 become mandatory for 6 months $59.00 or so. To "continue" each additional click cost more money, then I realized it's a fraud and cancel my subscription in less than two minutes. They charge my credit card anyway and refuse to give me full credit. They took $36.00 to use the services for one month. When I try to use the services they ask me to subscribe for "premium service" which I refused on the first place. Before the government step in they are going to make millions by fraudulent way.

I really enjoy the sex offenders feature. It is free with the service! I love the pictures and full names!

I search for someone and paid the $23 monthly fee. Once I was able to review the information, I found that no information was listed on the report. It had an old address and that's it! No background check, arrests, marriages, etc. None of the stuff they claim to have. So, I made the horrible decision of ordering the Premium for $20 more. And....no change. I spent almost $45 to find an old address that I could have found for free on Whitepages.com.

100% pure rip off. They took my money and told me the same info I could have gotten in the phone book then tell you that you need the premium service try $5.00 5-day trial. And it tells you the same as before. 3 days into your 5-day trial, they'll take $29.95 out of your account and give you the same info as before. They wasted my time and stole my money for absolutely no reason.

I was about to order a report on myself out of curiosity but I'm glad I decided to read reviews first about Instant Checkmate. It is misleading in that it tells you there's a possible criminal record but will eventually lead to nothing. I am also suspicious when a membership automatically renews unless you cancel it on time. This is a red flag for me! Thank you for the warnings. I'm keeping my money and I won't be duped.

Very cool concept until you really want to read the information you need on the person you are checking on. Once you get in, the charges just go up, up, up, up. They nickel and dime you and 5$ bill you to death to get to the real information. Each time you want to look at the criminal, or divorce or the stuff, you should be scared of there is an extra charge. Be warned, to get what you really want may take you 50-60 $$$. But it might be worth it too.

It did not give any additional information as what they claim they do. Thinking that probably it was not enough paid to instant checkmate I paid on additional fee to see if they really provide more information about background check, and its a lie, because they don't give any more info, as the one they have in their database. I only just got back personal present and previous addresses and names of close relatives, expecting to get more when I paid them on initial fee of $22.86, and to my surprise, I got same thing and thinking that I had not paid them enough, I went and paid them on additional $19.99. Because they claim that there was more info on the person that I was checking out and got the same thing. I felt that I was scam because I ended up paying a total of almost $45 and got really nothing.

So, I made my way to the very end. Nice use of status bars making you think something is really going on in the back end, but just flair is all. I did submit an email that I made up on my personal domain seconds before but I did opt out of purchasing the results as I was reading the horrible results listed here. Now, I check the brand new email address, and low and behold, SPAM!!! There is no opt in button for marketing purposes, you give them your address and you get spam, Period. What kind of company does this? From the looks of these results, Instant Checkmate is in the business of gathering emails and selling them, frauding folks by forcing them with trickery then not fully refunding when asked and lackluster results. Luckily, I gave them a fake address that I'm about to just delete.. Stay away, stay far away.

I signed up for the 1 month membership in hopes of being able to gain access to find and or get info on others. What the company produces is completely different than what they promise. I ran a report on somebody and got back the same stuff I found myself doing public records checks. Doing a background check and getting back the name that I provided in the first place, an address and the persons date of birth and astrological sign was not what I signed up for. In order to get any additional info you must PAY FOR EACH ADDITIONAL SEARCH. I signed up for the month membership on the 21st of March and it's the 26th today. I'm so disgusted with the false advertising they do. I just called in and cancelled my account with them. I was given the exact same info anyone can find on the internet free of charge. I regret trusting these people. It was a huge waste of money as well as time. I would highly recommend using another co for your search reports. I hope this place gets it together!!!

Tried to use this website to get info on an acquaintance before introducing this person to my immediate family. There was no info given other than what I already knew: name, address and D.O.B. and birth sign.

I wanted to check on my boyfriend's past criminal history so I subscribed to the site. After stating it was free there was a charge of $19.95 plus another $1.99 to download the file to pdf. Well when I did his birthdate comes up as the year 2014. I called and they said there was a glitch in the system and to try back later. I tried back last night and today and still can't access criminal check. Waste of money. I called to cancel and they made me pay for this full month even though it's useless to me. I feel this site is some kind of scam. Don't get taken in by it like I did. Lesson learned. Very unhappy.

After writing my review, the company contacted me, listened to my complaint and satisfactorily resolved my issue. It was much appreciated.

I just checked my name with Instant Checkmate. They had the wrong birthdate, had me living in 2 different cities, (never lived there) and had one alias with the wrong last name? I asked for a full and received a partial refund. Asked where they could have obtained the wrong information and the lady couldn't give me an answer. She tried and only saw my name, not a choice of names. BEWARE

This site is a scam to get your money! Even for the "free 5 day trial" I was charged. They didn't have the info I needed, so I cancelled, then later found out that I was charged for some "premium" service that I unknowingly was being charged $19.99 for! They lead you in, then when you find out the information isn't there, they promise more info with a better commitment that is not there! Don't waste your money, do a google search, it's cheaper and you will get more accurate information!!! Very P.O.'D!!

Saw an article about them. After what occurred, I went back and looked at it again. At the very bottom, it said it wasn't an article, but an ad. I should have read that before clicking on the link to their site in the article (ad). Well, tried a test to see how it worked. Went through the entire process until the last step... enter your credit card number and choose a plan. Didn't know there was a charge, so I decided against. No big deal. I unsubscribed on their email welcoming me. Lo and behold, along with their welcoming email, I had also received 3 more emails (all spam) within 3 minutes. Two from credit score companies and one from a company to verify my loan request. Then just now another email to assist a person to invest money in this country. Clearly my email address was given out when I went to their site as my email address had been entered on their site and the next thing you know, not only their email, but spam emails from other companies are in my mailbox at the same time.

The company reached out to me through an unknown number, I almost didn't pick up the phone, and the gentleman explained to me why the information I received could be incomplete or inaccurate. He offered me a full refund, which I did not expect, and he expressed to me how sorry he was. If the companies services matched it's good customer service, they'd have a really good business. Either way, the problem was resolved. However, I still cannot recommend this company to anyone, yet I'm sure my 2 cents won't effect the bottom line.

I signed up for this site hoping to find out more information for a friend on their missing parent. After paying the 19.98 I was taken to what was supposed to be a full report. The report did not have any information that we could not have found for free google searching. Also, to get any additional information such as criminal checks and such that costs extra. I was a little frustrated so I thought I would enter in the information of my father and see what the report came back with. I was shocked to see that they had a completely incorrect birth date for him putting his age younger than me. I feel that this site is a scam and will not be worth the money. I experienced the same issue as another reviewer when I called and tried to get my money back all they could offer was to cancel my subscription, but would not refund my money.

I used Instant Checkmate for the purpose of finding out information to help a family member escape a violent relationship. We knew of several arrests/charges for violent behaviors but wanted specifics. The website advertises that they know detailed information on criminal backgrounds. I was utterly disappointed after discovering they had no access to mugshots nor updated criminal records and kept giving a sensor that their information might be shocking. I got no information other than very old traffic violations which you can access for free. They also encourage you to pay an additional $2 for a more detailed PDF version which I did with no additional information. Then they asked for 5 more dollars for a more in-depth report which I did pay and found out nothing more than he had a fishing license. The total was $27.

I purchased online service to check information on a person. Information is incorrect then I was not provided with what I was told I would be provided with. They have hidden fees and when I called to cancel 5 minutes after purchasing product I was only refunded half. This is a scam and people need to stay away from this product that does not deliver what they advertise......

I stumbled onto this website as I have a family member I wanted to check on. They stated they had a no hassle cancellation policy, so I paid the $22 for one months' service. After signing up and paying, they state my report is ready. When nothing was shared about arrests without buying the premium service for a one time $10 fee, ok. But when the information about marriages and divorces came up blank without upgrading, I felt like I was being used! I called the customer service and requested my money be returned. I couldn't get my money back, but my membership would be cancelled and no further charges would be made. I might as well flushed my money down the toilet!

Just want to inform anyone out there looking to sign up for Instant Checkmate, "Don't Do It". It's not very accurate and there are hidden fees when they say there are no hidden fees. After paying to sign up and doing a search it comes back and suggests that you pay $1.99 to receive your reports in a PDF. Then after you bring up the report of the person your searching you will find inaccurate and accurate information on just a few basics such as social media, names, age, very basic stuff, but oh wait then you can go to a screen where it will get you all the information your looking for but wait that will cost another $10 each as I refer to as a hidden fee, when they promote their site has no hidden fees!! You can find all the information this site gives you out on the net with very little effort for free. When I call they were nice and canceled my subscription but would not refund my money for a service I used for less than 1 hour. I wish I would have read some feedback on this site before getting sucked into it. My Fault I guess.

Ran report on myself today (3/22/14) so I know what info should be in it. My birthday was wrong - my age was wrong - did not show my marriage or divorce nor a minor blib on my record from me youth. I have lived in one state - in one city my entire life and they couldn't get it right!!!!! When I called to cancel - Heather indicated that they can only provide what is available. So does that mean that can't provide info for Tennessee and if that is the case - that should have been noted on the site. Lastly, since I was married earlier - they should allow for at least one alternate name for the search. This was the biggest waste of money and time! If you want a PDF version of the report - it costs $1.99 - are you kidding me!!!! Instant Checkmate - in my opinion - is fraudulent. I found more info on myself just by "Googling".

I wanted to do a criminal back ground on my daughter's boyfriend so I paid the fee for Instant Checkmate of $22.00. I entered his information and the only thing that came up was his city and date of birth. I called the number on the site and spoke to operator to see if I was doing something wrong,. The operator informed me that there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page that says, " Not all states release the criminal background of individuals."

Today I decided to sign up for "checkmate". I was very disappointed when I tried to search criminal histories and found that the information was not correct. I know this information was incorrect because I deliberately looked up a person who I am positive has been convicted of DUI's and drug charges. When I looked up this individual nothing came up. I proceeded to look up my own name and there were NO results. I called to cancel my membership and learned I has been charged 10 extra dollars for each search because the membership I chose did not cover criminal or sex offender charges.

I opened an account to get a report on someone and the report had many errors. I was charged extra to get a PDF report but couldn't get it to print because I didn't have Chrome. The website doesn't tell you that. Called the service department and requested a refund because the report had many errors and I couldn’t get it to print. Was told they would refund half of my money. This was a total rip off. Did not get a report that was worth anything. Would not use this service ever and I mean ever again!!!!

They pull you in saying you will find "Shocking information" about the people you are looking up (Arrest records and so forth). What a crock! I found out nothing. Then tell me on the phone they can tell me that info. by law. I went through hell to try to get a refund. Wish me luck. Don't fall for it people! I found out more from public town records. They should shut these rip off artist down.

I joined instant checkmate on 03/05/2014 to find out information about my children's father. I agreed to pay the 22.86 monthly fee and 1.99 pdf file download. I continued searching my children's father, nothing came up. He has been arrested dozens of times, in two different states and not one single arrest came up, I was furious. I pressed the premium button, not knowing it was charging me. I decided to search myself and became more furious. My information on myself was outdated and incorrect. My address was from 6 years ago. It also never showed that I had been married. I researched a few people that I knew things about and knew they had records. Nothing came up. I can find updated and more information on a google search. One person I searched was a felon and had spent years in prison and still nothing came up. I was pissed. Omg! What a waste of money!

The website makes it seem as if there are criminal records for the person you are searching when in fact there are no such records. It is a scam to get you to make a purchase. The company then fails to cancel your account when asked to do so and they then charge your account.

What a rip off. Cannot believe they have not been shut down yet. There has to be some kind of regulatory body that oversees companies like this. Do not waste your money. You will get more information on a free Google search than being scammed out of at least a minimum of $20.00. Give or take a few pennies, since you will not get a receipt for your payment and then they have the nerve to ask for another $1.99 to view "their report" in PDF.

Used Instant Checkmate. Contacted them to cancel the "service", almost immediately. Well just found out that I've been charging $22.86 from my bank account for 13 months. If I knew I was getting billed for this, I would have used the service continually and for many, many times. I admit that I did not check my bank statement with more scrutiny, but I was not supposed to be being billed for this service. I made a call to the phone # shown on my bank statement and supposedly they submitted a "fraud" inquiry and canceled this account - again. I was definitely tricked, hoodwinked and scammed by them.

Ordered the service, checked out mine, my mother's and sister's. What little that came up was mostly incorrect and at that, there was not much. Immediately called to cancel and had a big hassle. First they would only cancel for future months but not refund the $22. After asking for a supervisor and a long hold, they offered to refund half. Another long hold and finally they agreed to refund the fee. What a joke. Scam.

It took me 5 months to get my money back, but at least I got it.

This is a total ripoff. They tell you they have processed criminal arrest records on a person to entice you to sign up, and then there is nothing. Not enough as much info as you could get from a less-expensive service like Intelius or US SEARCH. And then if you complain to them, the most you will get is half of your money back. Don't do it!

Sign up for the $56.99 premium membership to find out the person's name (which you already knew) and their horoscope sign THEN get charged $19.99 to get other information that you already probably knew such as the state they live in, their old address, and where their social security number was issued. SCAM! I called to cancel three minutes after finding out I can get more information from their private Facebook account and instead got a 50% refund. When this goes to class action suit from all the scammed people, let me know.

When will I learn. It was important to me to find someone. Found the family on Facebook and followed a trail. It lead me to a company called Instant Checkmate. Like a nut I paid the 25.00 to what I hoped would be good info. What a joke. Each step I wanted to take was going to cost me more and more money. I called to complain. I was told to send my complaint to Instant Checkmate on the net. It's quite a racket they have going and I cannot believe I fell in to the con before checking them out.

They sucker you in with an "unlimited" for 1 month membership - but once you hand over your credit card number and get to the next step - they charge you $19.99 for anything beyond the name and address. I paid this $19.99 and guess what... The information they gave me was not much more than name and address. I know for a FACT that the person I was researching has a criminal record - and nothing showed up. I called Instant Checkmate immediately to cancel my account and see if they would refund the money. Absolutely not. This company is a scam, and a waste of money. A Google search for this person turned up more information than they provided me with. Stay away... Stay far away from this company.

I wanted to find out why guy across the street has cops looking for him as I have small grandchildren that visit. All I got was his name, age, address, and zodiac sign! Duh, I knew these things already. **, this site is a total scam. I called and got only half my money back. Do NOT fall for this! Contrary to what they say to lead you in, you will not find out anything "shocking and graphic". And to "qualify" for further info, you have to pay more money, AFTER you've already paid!

I paid for a months worth of reports, and all I got was where they lived! No report on marriages divorces, or anything else. I cancelled my card to stop any other withdrawals coming out. This company is a total scam. My dog could have found out more than them, for free. Don't waste your time or money on these scammers.

Am angry with myself for falling for this scam. I found that claims on website are misleading, service provides no detailed info, and my results contained incorrect info. Was especially interested in obtaining a criminal record. Site says that public records (criminal, marriage, divorce, etc.) are not released. If Instant Checkmate already knows that public records are not released why do they infer over and over again that the records are available? Bait and switch. Also, I've tried to do the Opt Out option to get my info out of their database. Keep getting message that my request was 'unable to process as the authentication token has expired' (paraphrased). What's that all about?

I just paid for a full month of Instant Checkmate and I entered the names, addresses, birth dates etc of two known felons with many records of arrests and Instant Checkmate could only give me their horoscope!!!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW!!!!!! THIS SITE IS A JOKE!!!!! I went on a free site in Fort Bend County and used the sample site and got a lot more than a horoscope!!!!!

Even though I requested information about known criminals (full name, state and D.O.B.) Checkmate was only able to discover the person's horoscope! Really? I want my money back A.S.A.P! The online service promises to be forthcoming with more information for an extra $$ and even more $$ to have the details sent in a PDF, all the while I was warned about the graphic nature of the information. The big news... the man was a Libra?

I used this site like many others have for the free trial, to look up the information about myself. No useful information unless I wanted to spend more money for the premium information. I didn't cancel the free trial and after looking at my bank statement 2 months later I realized I was being charged the $22.86 for the past 3 statements. So I went on Google and this is what I found:

I searched for an old friend and was promised "graphic information"... I was even asked to "ok" the fact that I was going to see said "graphic information". So I paid my $22.00 or so, and I saw his name (shocking, gasp) and his astrological sign (the horror). What a load of crap this website is! I could get more information on Facebook!!! But just when I thought I couldn't handle anymore of the "graphic information", the site almost, and I say almost, because it never did happen, almost let me see an arrest record... if I wanted to"UPGRADE" to a premium account or some other cow dung for $10.00 more.

Lots of promised data, no value whatsoever, they made cancelling hard and the operator will keep you on hold. They keep requiring add-ons to see all the data. Free sites offer way more data. This whole site is based on consumer ignorance and spam advertising. A single record ended up costing over $40.

I signed up to get some information for the "services" they claim to provide. All I got out of 8-10 searches was a name and address. I can get that out of my phone book. It said upgrade for the info I was looking for (an additional $10.00). I paid it. It didn't give me the information. When I called customer service after 10-15 minutes on hold (twice) I got 50% credited back to me for the membership + the $10.00. However, they didn't seem to want to close my account... When I asked to speak to a manager "Theresa the supervisor" says that she has nobody to transfer me to. She said "I will put in a request for someone to contact you back in 3-4 days." She said "so do you want the refund?" I said "well I want the full refund, but I don't want the account." She said "you are paying for using our services.. not for the information." Last time I checked... the yellow pages were provided online (it's free btw). So I said "someone will contact me in 3-4 days..." She said, "I said I will put in a request." If I am paying for that "service" I think they owe me money.

This site promises the world and delivers nothing. I did a background check on a guy I was dating and they said it had "graphic, shocking information," and of course I was intrigued, then the background report contained nothing you can't just google. It didn't tell me anything about any previous arrests or what they were for. I want a FULL refund and I'm going to spread the news everywhere about Instant Checkmate being a SCAM. Wish I'd done my due diligence before parting with ~$50 because of this bogus site!!!

I did a search prior to me purchasing the 22.86. On the search result it was showing the person's name I was looking for with the correct city and state. I tried to click "Access Report" and it prompted me to purchase before I can see the information about the person. It teases you that it would show the address, the number. So I purchased it for 22.86.

I signed up to find information on a woman I was dating. There was no additional information provided by Instant Checkmate claiming they were doing their various searches then age and some previous cities the girl lived in. The girl had told me she had been arrested numerous times and no arrest records were shown. That she had been married 2 times and no marriages were shown. This site is a complete SCAM. I immediately called, canceled my membership, and asked for a full refund and the operator tells me that he will cancel my membership but cannot give me a refund and kept repeating himself. SCAM. $22.86 for a monthly charge and an extra $1.99 for a PDF.

You are running a fraudulent site. I ran an inquiry on myself. It told me the report contained graphic info etc. I know for a fact I have no record. My job requires that I have a background check and fingerprints taken frequently. If I had a record or was a victim of fraud I would know it. I am reporting you to BBB and the other agencies. Shame on you!

First of all, ALWAYS DEMAND THE FULL REFUND! Take the time to make sure you get every cent back! If they say they will return everything and they haven't within a few days, call them back and demand that they pull the call! I have worked in a call center before, I know exactly what they're doing. With that being said, I went to Instant Checkmate to do a background check, and like others have stated on this website, absolutely no information was provided other than very basic information (names, pretty much). Because the website is intentionally misleading, they pretty much lead you into buying yourself into their premium report as well. An initial $22, an additional $19.99, and then some absurd charge for $1.99 for a PDF file. I called them to get a full refund and the lady I spoke with spent an ungodly amount of time trying to explain everything and "help" me find what I was looking for.

On or about Feb. 21, 2014, I was offered a free trial to above mentioned website for a $1. Sound like a great deal right. I ran my own name and it gave nothing it promised as far as arrest records go. Total scam, and I better not be charged their monthly free after trial expires...

I signed up for the teaser $1 service. It then said that it found information of the person I was searching for but for anything useful it would cost more. I chose not to pay more and then they started charging my card monthly. When I asked the call center rep Diane about it she said, "The charges are your fault and we don't refund." I asked for a manager and she hung up on me. After several calls, I finally got them stop the monthly fees but I was not refunded for all the money they fraudulently charged me. Stay Clear of this Scam.

I had purchased reports from Instant Checkmate and left a review previously expressing my dissatisfaction with the reports, as they did not give me the information I was looking for. I got a prompt response from the care manager and she was very helpful, but unfortunately I was not able to take their calls because of my work schedule. I called in tonight to see if this issue could be resolved and spoke to a representative named Bryson (sp?). He was very professional and courteous, and wanted to help get me a refund. He also empathized with my frustration, and did the supervisor I spoke to, but unfortunately did not get her name. I am pleased with the outcome and the great customer service I received and if anyone has some of the same issues I did, they are more than willing to work with you.

I pulled my own name to see what is out there on me and the facts are that I was married and divorced, however this site says that there are no marriage or divorce records for me. There are other items about me that I am not willing to disclose here, but none of those items appeared on this site either. False advertising, misrepresentation. Absolute waste of money!

I used Instant Checkmate one time, and did not get any useful or meaningful results. When I used their service, I never intended to subscribe to a monthly service and I did not check any boxes to make that choice. I saw an initial bill on my credit card, then after a few months, I saw a $22.86 "monthly" bill. I called to inquire and was lectured about how I "agreed" to their "subscription service". They only agreed to cancel the monthly subscription which I never made in the first place!!!! DO NOT USE INSTANT CHECKMATE!!! THEY ARE A RIPOFF.

On or about 2/16/2014 I was trying to help a friend with problems stemming from a previous arrest and a warrant issue. All I needed was the dates of these. Instantcheckmate.com made it sound like they were professionals who could do this for me, that is, find previous arrest records, etc. They charged me about $22 for a one month membership then another $19 for a one time advanced search on the person I was helping. The site did warn that not all records are public so their report may be incomplete but also warned that the info they find could be shocking. Well, the only thing I found shocking was how useless and incomplete the report was. There was nothing more than what I could get off Facebook. I complained and they only refunded $11. I eventually found what I needed with some time and phone calls, but at least it was accurate. In my opinion, Instantcheckmate.com is a scam and should not be allowed to operate. Someone needs to start a class action.

Instant Checkmate claims to have information, but they don't have anymore than the free services you get from White Pages, Spokeo, Intelius & numerous other sites. Even if you pay the "premium" service fee, they will not guarantee they will have anything. They don't even provide public records such as marriages & divorces. This is a rip off of your money. Do not use this site.

Talked to man about charges. I did not agree to the balance - as they said in a letter to me. They charged $1.00 immediately for trial membership that is good for 5 days. I was checking on someone, taking 5 to 10 minutes. So, if $1.00 for 5 days, how come I got charged $29.63 for a month. Also charged $19?? He said maybe he can get back $19?? But has to ask manager. To my surprise, there was a credit on charge card for $19?? No return call. I got angry when he said "read the terms" and told him it was not right to charge such an amount and I wanted my money back except the $1.00. I will never deal with them again. Someone needs to make them stop doing this to people. PS - forgot to add another $1.00 charged.

Shortly after posting my review, a nice person from Instant Checkmate named Teresa called to discuss my problem. She clearly explained that they do their internet search based on a person's name. They do not use social security numbers. A search based on name is the normal case for internet searches since few people have access to someone's SSN or would be comfortable using it online. In my case, the search only produced my birth date. Teresa said that customer satisfaction was important at Checkmate and because I was not satisfied, they would refund the $30 charged for one month of service. The money was credited to my Visa account the following business day.

As with so many on their site I got no new information despite paying for their premium account. Was unable to get their customer service line so spoke to my bank who suggested replacing my debit card with one with a new number. That didn't work either... They simply started charging the new card having got its number somehow. Totally non authorized charges which seem impossible to stop.

Instant Checkmate very promptly contacted me about issuing me a refund, the person I spoke to Norman was very polite and understanding of the situation and as I stated offered my refund very quickly.

After seeing the advertisements I decided to check someone I knew a lot about to see if this could be useful. So I looked myself up. There was absolutely nothing useful there. All I wanted to see was my Marital information and Driver's license information. They did have my Astrological sign listed though. There was an additional (one-time) fee of $1.99 if I wanted to get all my lookups in PDF format - seriously. Also, I could have spent an additional $19.99 on top of the $22 charged for the unlimited one month of reports I'd already paid to get a premium report supposedly with more information. So five minutes after I signed up I called to cancel and asked for the fee to be returned.

After signing up for Instant Checkmates services for a full 6 months, I realized immediately that I have been scammed! I typed in eight people in my family and myself, and I am disappointed to report nothing and I mean nothing came up other than addresses, a few related people, and in several cases that was not even correct or the information was outdated! Divorces, marriages, births, phone numbers and apparently arrest records are all for an extra 19.99 per person. So what am I paying for... nothing! Save your money! I really don't even want to give it one star.

I signed up for 6 month service. This was so useless. Any information that I got was old. You can get more information from internet Google search FREE. I even did a Premium for $19.95 (for only 1 person) more for info I should have been able to get that was nothing. Called to cancel. They would only return half of my 6 mo. fee, none of premium. I responded to their ad on aol and thought it looked like a legitimate service. I was doing some background checks over the web in public records and it became tiresome so I lazily signed up for this service, one site for all. Well when I paid for a month, did the name I was checking, it came back with address's which I already knew and his zodiac sign. To get anything of substance you had to pay another 20 bucks right then I knew it was a scam. One field they had I was interested in was licenses, it came up with none when I know he had several but this site only gives you faa and dea. I called immediately to cancel and told them it was a farce. Well after checking with them I got a 50% refund. It's a crooked site and I think all the positive remarks on yelp for this company is done by instant checkmates agents or employees. Pay attention to the negative comments on yelp. They all complain about the same thing crooked company.

I inadvertently got directed their website, so I decided to to see what information was available about myself for free. It turns out ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So I decided to pay the monthly charge of $22.95 and you receive a basic report that tells you who you are, where you live, your address, date of birth, astrological sign etc. All simple and basic information that anyone can obtain for free. So I thought I would upgrade to the premium report for an extra charge of $19.95... this is just as weak and bad... They don't provide you with any information that one couldn't easily obtained for free. Plus it claims it will provide traffic ticket info and criminal history... it DOES NOT! Plus if you want to print out any of this worthless information there is another charge of $1.99.

As others have said, wrong info, no actual useful or new info on the person I looked at. I paid for what was supposed to be a one time report, and ended up being charged this amount every month, which I did not sign up for. Never use this company!

Against my better judgement, I tried this service and as I suspected it was a complete waste of time and money. Scam. No information you couldn't obtain from a Google search.

I paid their one time monthly fee of 22 dollars, and found all the little information they give you to be very generic and useless, and all I already found on my own. So I thought I'd buy a premium report for 19.99, STILL NO USEFUL INFORMATION!!! They gave very little info, so disappointed that I wasted over 40 dollars on this crappy site. I was told by a INSTANT CHECKMATE REP that I COULD obtain Police Reports if I signed up and paid the fee. That was inaccurate. It ended up that I paid 50 plus dollars for information that I already had and NO POLICE REPORT as promised. I do not recommend this site to ANYONE.

Instant Checkmate gave me the information I needed to not only verify the identity of online contacts, but to insure they were not criminals! It gives me peace of mind about the individuals I am in contact with! Thank you for the service you provide!

This site is a complete rip off. You can get the same information found on it at Peoplefinders, they just export your search for the "basic product" from Peoplefinders. It has warnings saying you may be shocked! How stupid, and how stupid I was to give the ** 22 dollars for what I could find out for free....

I signed up for the $1 for 5 days. I was looking for additional information on friends I have lost contact with. The initial report didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, from free searches. It ask if you want to know twice as much, I clicked below that. They did state that they had to pay for the extra service or searches. They stated I would be charged a small fee. I was thinking a couple dollars. The next search I went through same process. The 2nd time the screens were different. I noticed the $19.99 (small fee). I checked my online banking account, it was there. The hidden records were completely worthless. Contained an old phone number that belongs to someone else and 2 worthless email accounts that no longer get checked. That I already had.

I was interested in reviewing my background information. I knew going in that it was probably too good to be true. My birthday was just wrong. Not a little wrong. Wrong month, wrong year, wrong age. Where are those public records supposedly pulling from? Don't do it. It's not worth it.

Very frustrating experience. After going thru all their steps I was informed of their pricing tiers. Wasted my time as I didn't see a price tier that applied to me. Seems unfair. They should post their pricing tiers at the start of the process, not when your report is dangling in front of you, just out of sight, waiting for your price selection. There should also be a price for just one report, which is what I wanted, not lots of reports. May or may not come back to this site for what I want. May check another site first.

Well, it seems they tried to checkmate me this morning. I paid for a one dollar trial. It explicitly states, "All the searches you want", for the trial period. Well, I viewed relatives. So I clicked on one - which was to the right of the webpage. An "attractive color banner" drew my attention. Well upon clicking back to my right on my browser, I noticed "now appearing" in faded grey letters, fine print of $19.95. You mean to tell me every time I click on a relative banner I would have been charged this fee!? I immediately closed the website off my browser. In summary, the NAVIGATION of their website is very misleading. I called explaining I had been there for a minute. They would not refund my $19.95. I explained just what I wrote here and asked for a supervisor and was granted the refund. Only to back in my account in 5 business days. In closing, the initial report I was seeking was for myself. There was nothing there and they had all the wrong information about ME. What they did have was my RELATIVES! Oh now I get it! The odds are, most people WILL CLICK on their relatives. Then be charged $19.95! I feel sorry for you if you have a big family. Glad I am a chess expert. Nobody is check-mating me! Thank you!

Checkmate advertises that for $22.86 you will have unlimited access to criminal records for a month. Once you sign up, it then implies that to get anything beyond minor traffic violations you must pay an additional $19.99, which I did, only to find out that no additional information was provided on anyone about any arrests. When I called to inquire they finally admitted that they provide no information beyond basic information which is public. They advertise as finding out "Shocking and graphic information that may be disturbing", what a crock, this is a total scam, don't waste your money!!!

I signed up for Instant Checkmate and everyone I checked either didn't have ANY information or the information was incorrect. When I asked for a refund I was told NO because the disclaimer said some of the information may not be correct.... But ALL of the information incorrect.

Although I am not satisfied with the way the web site works, I am satisfied with the resolution of my complaint. The gentleman that called me was patient and listened to my concerns regarding the web site, he said he would forward my concerns to the company. Instant Checkmate refunded all monies that were charged to my credit card as a resolution to my complaint.

I am very angry. I originally read an advertisement stating driving records available online. I proceeded to attempt to get a driving record of a specific person but was only given the person's birthdate, which I already knew, and a list of addresses the person has lived. The report also indicated very specifically, all the names and addresses of sex offenders that lived around the person. That was it. This person has been married twice and divorced once, but that information was not available for the report. They have been married for 37 years most recently!!! I will be sure to pass my experience on to others and warn them not to waste their money with this site.

Basically all that this did was confirm information that I already knew or provided. Name, DOB, Last known address. No marriage or divorce records, criminal history...NOTHING. Useless, you can accomplish this pittance of a service for free in the same amount of time that they took.

It allowed me to find my previous addresses, nice to see for nostalgia sake, thus, upgrade from 1 to 1.5 stars. Like many other reviewers, doesn't have wedding information. It also lacks arrest reports. It posts red exclamation marks and gold stars besides possible names, but does not explain what the red marks imply... since it contains no negative information upon deeper inspection. Once inside, it provides disclaimers, suggesting federal records require full names and many state locations do not release certain records (for marriage and divorce). Unfortunately, you can only enter a person's middle initial; so even if you have the full name... you will not get access to federal records via this service.
