It is Total False Advertising!! Bait and switch!! First you are lead to believe you are getting a service, then you must purchase a membership. While on the website I called them and was reassured I would get unlimited reports on as many people as I wanted!! I wrote down the phone number, paid for the 6 Month Plan plus everything was ADDED CHARGES!! $59 in Total!! I got no INFO and was told on phone I would get criminal & arrest records for this individual and mother whose name was listed!! I got the name I provided and an address!!!! Nothing else!!
Told on site I would have to be willing to pay another $19.99 for each record I requested!!! Went to BBB site, Checked Out ALL Complaints... Not ONE positive comment!!! Called back the number to cancel 866-490-5980 and was told I had paid for the six month program so therefore at the end of my paid subscription I would no longer be charged!! I told them that was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! I wanted to speak to a manager.
The man on phone put me on hold and said he had spoke to his manager and they decided to credit my Mastercard $29. I refused and Informed that I was checking out their WEBSITE because I believed they were ripping people OFF and I do this thing often to protect the LITTLE People, and I would pursue this to the fullest extent of the law... ended up being told I would get all my money back within 3 business days!!! I'm waiting!! If I don't I will a follow through!! NOT AN IDLE THREAT!! Anyone else who feels wronged by this company please contact: Kristy **.

I have searched for people that I know and your addresses, information is all wrong. I have moved 3 times and you still have an address for me that is from 2005 nearly 10 yrs ago. People that I know have current or past criminal records are not indicated. Why even bother having this website when you can not provide the information? I can go to local law enforcement webpages and find the information or use other websites that give more information.

I feel deceived by your service. Pretty much a rip-off. And no contact email or phone number to express such? That's convenient, wouldn't you say? The information you provide is less than basic. I've searched numerous people with known, long police and arrest records. Nothing appears. This scam, you call a business, along with your up charges to get more info (haha, that's a joke) is exactly what's wrong with the American psyche. No honor, no shame and will not do what's right when no one is watching. A pox on your business and associates... I pray you reap what you have sown.
I see in your "Guidelines for reviews" please exclude profanity, threats or personal insults... are you stupid or what? Of course you get profanity, insults, threats and the like...you're RIPPING PEOPLE OFF! And for what it is worth, I would like a full refund/credit for my 3 month subscription and I won't trash you on every blog and review at my disposal.

I did not want to pay for their service. So they offered me a trial offer for $1.00. I accepted that offer and the results were not acceptable. In the terms of agreement in small print, It says that if you do not cancel the trial membership within 5 days you will be automatically be charged $29.00 per month until you cancel the membership.

If you choose not to pay for their services and close the window/page that you are on, a special offer will appear for trying their site for only $1.00 for 5 days. After 5 days you will begin being charged a recurring monthly fee of a much higher price, and this is all stated in their terms before proceeding. You are led to believe that you will get the report, that originally started out to be free, that you inquired about the full report. BUT.. BEWARE.. This is the very furthest from what you will get.
Your will most likely the name and address, which you already knew the name and quite possibly the address. All the other fields will indicate that the information is either being updated and to check back later or will be listed as being available as their premium service, which cost you even more money if you want that information. Every piece of information you want will first lead you to an acceptance page of paying more money. I even did a search on myself and the limited information was very outdated.
If someone was looking for me, they would have found an address that I had 2 moves ago... They may give you information for what you pay for, but it seems it is old information. I called immediately to cancel my subscription in order not to be charged any additional fees and they laughed at my disappointment and didn't even apologize or try to keep me. They were all to happy to take my $1.00 and it seemed like it was a common occurrence. I know the person I spoke with didn't work for free. Hopefully, my post will keep someone from giving them more undeserved money.

The company contacted me and agreed to refund my money since the information I wanted was not available. They explained that it was not their fault that the phone number was not part of the public record, so they could not obtain it. I guess that makes sense. I am very happy that they took the initiative to contact me and resolve my complaint.

I was looking up an old friend, and all I really wanted was a phone number. I paid $1 for a free trial membership for 5 days. There was no phone number. It said that I could upgrade the search for $20 and promised phone numbers. I paid, and to my dismay, again no phone number. What a waste of money.

The only thing I would change is that all advanced fees should be upfront. I was a little confused as to whether all the information is on the final Web page or whether it would be on my E-mail address.

I use this site as a last resort because other free sites are much easier to navigate. Sometimes on this site, info is promised but not provided. Over the past two - four weeks I've used Instant Checkmate more often only to become frustrated when I found out that the info contains things I don't need or want but a phone number has not been provided.

The PDF reports worked for a couple of days. Now for the last four or five days, the PDF reports start to process and after a lengthy delay, I get an error message to try back later. This happens on every attempt to process a PDF. I've sent a couple of bug alerts, but the problem still isn't fixed. I paid for this?

At the present time PDF reports will not download. Addresses for Utah are not complete on the report or download. When an address looks like 300 West 2100 North the report and downloads the address as 300 2100.

When I first got the service in March, phone numbers came up. For the past 2 months, they haven't, which is a big part of why I use the service. The social media area can be useful, but often it doesn't get specific to the person I am searching. More often, the information is of limited or no use.

I received an email at 2:35 pm on 6/16 of a receipt of $22.86. I was wanting to search for me, knowing what is on my record. I then requested a full refund. Checkmate will only refund half of my money and I called them before 3:00. Crazy, and the things on here are crap. I have never lived in Milwaukee, WI. If anyone asks me about the services Checkmate provides, I will be the first to say THE COMPANY DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WRITTEN CONTRACT. NOT HAPPY.

I find that Instant Checkmate has the most up to date data when searching for missing classmates. I am in the process of looking for missing classmates for my 60th class reunion in 2018. There were 500 graduates in my class and I still am looking for about 100.

I haven't found any of the information I was looking for and the information that they have about me is grossly inaccurate. The information that I see about friends of mine are inaccurate as well because one says that he is the spouse of his mother. He is a disabled man and she claims him on her taxes. This is the only way that I can figure they got that information. They have me listed as both black and white, young and old and arrests from all over the country with pics of me being both black and white, as a young woman, today, but an old woman several years ago. I'm very frustrated with this site.

I am so disappointed. I went onto "peoplefinder.com" and I found the person I was looking for. Then it asked me to click on "Instant Checkmate" to get full report. I don't know why I couldn't go through peoplefinder but I decided to give it a try. I paid $22 something for a full month. No where does it say that it's a continual membership. The only reason I found out was because I called this morning to complain that my report had absolutely NO INFORMATION!!! No phone number, no home address. It was an address of a business. Then I googled the business and it was owned by someone who was not the person I was searching. Why in the world would this business be associated with him then? Also, I searched a few other people and exactly the same thing, got nothing. However, when I searched for myself... I got a butt-load of information. That's so odd. So after arguing with one of the thieves in their customer support team, I got half my money back. Better than nothing right? I'm going to write a few more reviews to make up for the $11 I lost. =D DON'T USE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!

I was thought this would be a legitimate company because AOL news had it as one of their articles. I know see AOL uses its web articles to help push the products of its advertisers. I'm not a lawyer but I wonder how liable AOL would be in a lawsuit brought against them along with Instant Checkmate.
I entered my name and it told me how much it would cost and I went to close the out the web page and a small box opened saying I could try it for $1 for 5 days. I ended up being charged $1 and an extra $1.99. I tried maybe 10 names and not one came with anything with law enforcement information or anything but address for last 20 years. I think it's illegal to give out LE information, therefore making this company a fraud. I then found that after 5 days, they charged me another $29.63 to my credit card. This they told me was in the terms agreement, however I was not notified in the usual manner of a box listing what I was buying.
After a 40 minute phone call they said they will refund the $29.63 - we will see. I hope a lawsuit is filed against these misleading people. They are making millions without supplying you with anything. DO NOT USE THIS service, you will feel ripped off. They give a bad name to legitimate companies. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw them being exposed in the courts and media as a fraud.

Was led to believe I could get a full report on myself. After signing up and trying to get information, it told me to pay more for the info I wanted to see.

There are several people that have no information on them at all OR their information is obsolete. There are several people wherein I should be part of family but I am not. It is not all that accurate many times.

I gave them my credit card number for a $1 charge for a one week trial. Never saw anything about having to call to cancel the service. I logged in twice the first day and never again. Several months later, I noticed a $29 subscription charge on my credit card statement as well as 2 previous charges. After 30 minutes on the phone, the best I could do was get the current month cancelled. Pure billing scam.

I, personally, feel like I got a bait & switch. I paid the membership fee and got access to basically the same information you would find in a phone book. To access any relative information, you have to pay more money. A second membership fee. My personal opinion is that there should be ONE fee (even if it has to be a bit higher than what it is now) for access to all available information.

I signed up for Instant Checkmate for the trial and felt totally ripped off as they charged my account after the trial. They said they were going to reimburse me half of the total, cannot for the full amount and then email me the confirmation of my cancelling but have not received that yet. Totally a rip off, they just want your money! I don't have the money to hire an attorney!

I did a search and they said they found a complete list of things. I signed up and paid the fee then they said to access the data I had to upgrade my account, then if you wanted to print the data it was another $1.99. I paid all of the fees and received no current address, no phone number etc. The information was worthless. I call it legal theft. I would never do business with them again or recommend the company to anyone.

I paid $25.00 to get info on a person that was arrested 2 months ago on child molestation. Instant Checkmate came back with "no criminal records found!" How current is this company. What a ripoff. I contacted them by phone to claim a refund and was told my payment has already gone through and they can only cancel any future payments!!!!! Are you kidding me. Is this a legitimate company or a SCAM ORGANIZATION. I'm going with the latter! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM OPERATION!!!!!!!!

Signed up for a one month unlimited membership, since they have my credit card information they charged my card again. When you sign up for a one month membership you should not have to call and cancel. A one month membership means one month. When I called to cancel, they only offered to credit me 50% of the 2nd charge; charged on 6/9 cancelled on 6/12.

The only thing I like about Checkmate is the information on date of births, and addresses is good, but to get other information, you have to pay additional fees which I figure the amount I'm paying now should cover everything, phone numbers and etc. Thanks.

Search results based on search input requests are poor quality. Listing often do not match and return different names or other non-matching factors. This is why I have cancelled my membership.

I'm very disappointed with the "lack" of information you get when being charged a monthly fee for this service. I don't understand why you're having to charge for what little information you get when you hardly get any. I will not be renewing this subscription and I will be keeping the cancel service number very handy when time for my subscription to end comes.

Your ad does not tell that you need to upgrade if you want any real info. You give just enough to make it hard to find out any real info. I was told my nephew died but could not find any article on how or when. I would not recommend this site to anyone who is really trying to find someone. Besides you're not supposed to use it to keep from renting/hiring or anything like that so really what good is it?

I found the male people ok but the female was hard because didn't know the married name when there was a divorce and not know what their new married name was and if you could go back futher in the address area would help finding the correct person.

Purchased Premium Report for an addition $19.99 and did not get any info. Very basic info was provided, stuff I already knew. This person has a long rap sheet and it showed that this person had no records. I also ran a background check on myself and found so much incorrect information. This is not a good website and I wish to get reimbursed. How do I go about this?

Somewhat Satisfied, however... I have had some glitchy luck in getting what I need. I have seen things change when I have checked the same person, and I have seen the wrong or reversed name with a note about the wife's name being used in a identity theft, yet it isn't her name of 23 years but her old married name reversed.
My biggest complaint is that when I added the Telephone Lookup upgrade the money was taken from my Chase account, But unless I'm missing something I still am asked if I want to "Upgrade" for the Phone Lookup. Another thing is that I asked about that over a year or two ago and it was not available but you said that you were looking into it. Next thing I knew, you had added the feature and I quickly paid the upcharge for the year. First thing I noticed is that I seem to be forced to go into my full Instant Checkmate site to access it...a big waste of time, but...I suppose that was easiest for you guys to implement, however having already paid for the service, why am I unable to use it at the "prompt screen"?
Just now, immediately after I logged in, top of the page...says "want to look up by Phone Number"? but if I say yes, since I paid for this the site asks me to pay for this?? Very convoluted. Perhaps if ICM users "must use that feature from within ICM" a small note could be added right under that opening page? Even put a positive SPIN on it by saying "Attention ICM users, your phone lookup feature has been incorporated into your existing Instant Checkmate site, for your convenience."
See what you think and please let me know about my phone lookup feature. Is it working? If so, please walk me thru how to use it. Most times I have no name, just a random number and I need to plug that in a search window and get the information. Please don't say "we found it! Yeah! Now for only another $10 we will tell you what it says, BUT you will only be charged $10 one time, Yeah!" That would be insulting because I already paid an upcharge. Many sites do just that.
Now My BIG Compliment. Seriously! Great Job overall on the new Website Look. Tremendous improvement! Keep it up.

Checkmate did a basic background check on me and after all the bells and whistles were done, not much info and my address wrong. I have had this service now for approximately one year after my son-in-law told me about checkmate. He was a deputy/investigator in law enforcement and recommended the site. I have been a widow for 3 yrs after 29 yrs of marriage and everyone was just a little nervous. I had used a dating website "Christian Mingle" and over a period of 6 months had the following experiences, just to name a few:
1. Was asked by one gentleman (and I use the term loosely :)), to please allow him to borrow $10,000 dollars as he was in the oil business and having a problem getting through "customs" in England. He assured me, of course that the money would be returned just as soon as he returned to the states. I did report him to Christian Mingle ASAP.
2. Within weeks had another male contact me and we began messaging. He reportedly was an antique dealer who was in Italy and needed $5,000 dollars in cash as his son was in a bad accident and had to seek medical care! Also reported! Wow, was I ever happy to have subscribed to checkmate.
3. Within two months was receiving messages from a man in Kentucky...........who said he was moving to "Sunny Florida" and would love to meet me in person! Yeah Right! After researching him.....his "IP" address was from Ghana, and he was wanted for questioning in a murder case in Kentucky. His criminal/arrest history was longer than a football field. I also reported him.
4. One last note....... a very close friend of the family is a high-ranking officer in the U.S. Military. When he called to check on me, I updated him on the dating website and the activities/detective work that was all consuming. He was upset and did not like me taking the risk, while I assured him I was being very cautious and felt much safer with checkmate. During our conversation he asked me to look him up, just for fun (Ha Ha), and we were all shocked to find someone had been using HIS name as an alias. Still under investigation.
My daughters, close friends and family keep telling me to just keep looking at church, they assured me I could certainly find someone to meet. My response........."What and miss all this fun." I laughed and said this was certainly more entertaining then America's Most Wanted! Okay, not really funny :-)) Thank you again for the service you provide.

It looked like the service would give me a lot of information. I tried myself and family members. Not much showed up and what did, was wrong. Parking ticket in Allentown, PA. I haven't been to Allentown since I was 9 years old. No marriage or divorce records, no college degrees, nothing about online profiles. Either my family is too boring or the service is no good. I asked for a refund and got a credit for half the amount paid. I was a user for less than 5 minutes. Avoid.

I don't know what happened when I ordered, but I know I wanted the 6 month membership two days ago when I ordered. When I called your 1-800# the slightly rude customer rep told me that I only ordered the monthly one? I asked if I could change it because I just joined, but he said no. Anyway, I cancelled my membership as of about 28 days from now because of this experience. You know, I don't think I would have cancelled if your customer rep had been a little nicer or a little more compassionate about my problem, but he acted like I was a bother or an interruption on his evening!

I searched for 3 different people with specific names, ages, and locations. Every search returned results with people from completely different states and ages. Names were similar but not the same. I did several searches, both of people I know well, to verify accuracy of reports and people I wanted to check out. In all cases, I found that although the initial profile info was accurate, the premium report info was apparently a compilation of more than just the subject's information. My subjects held patents developed during their childhoods, military service served before their birth, degrees that were never received, etc. You also pay an additional $20 for each criminal report per subject, as well as other add ons.
I've seen enough! I've been trying for over an hour now to cancel my subscription, but the phone number is cancelled with no forwarding number, and I'm having difficulty finding them. If I could award no stars, I would.

I signed up in march 2014. Instant check billed me two times for $22 total, $44 for NOTHING. I have not received one background review. They received my credit card info and then provided nothing to me nor explained to me how I would be able to access the background information I paid for. I continued to be charged $22 each month until June 2014 when I called to cancel my account.. I explained that I wanted a one-time transaction for only $22 but they said I was required to call and cancel because I had "enrolled in membership." I would not be complaining if I had received at least the one initial background check that I paid for. Their technical structure allows them to take my money and not give the product in return. I will never use this again.

I have not been able to pull up one record. When I put in the information, it does all of that "checking" for records and then tells me I am not a member and must check a box and pay for a membership. I was/am trying to contact a fellow musician friend of mine who I lost contact with since 201, because another fellow musician of ours died very recently. I was JUST looking for his phone number. Paid the 1.00 for the information. Checkmate did not supply the phone number so I agreed to the "next level" or "premier" but did not notice anywhere about being 19.99 MORE! Clicked the button and BAM! I get an email from my credit card company that I was just charged 19.99 AND STILL NO PHONE NUMBER!

I can acquire the same data free from mugshot spokeo google. Checkmate gets you in, Then charges you to get what the others can't give you free. Checkmate wants to charge more and more and more. When I called checkmate, they would not refund my money even though it was less than 15 minutes after I signed up.

Received solicitation for "free" background check. Hit up for money, but not surprised. Paid $22.86 amount which was to include arrest records and unlimited searches for a month. Then hit up for $1.99 to be able to copy. Am aware only arrests with convictions can legally be provided, but none were. Hit up for additional $19.99 to get criminal convictions. None provided, even though aware of at least three. Wanted more money for criminal convictions of related persons. Called a customer service number and was told some counties don't reveal conviction data out of privacy concerns. Criminal convictions are public record and the records have been purchased by other businesses. Since the info we were seeking has been available through other sites that charge less, THIS IS A SCAM.

Reports are seriously absent of information and seriously out of date. Cannot be used for skip-tracing as addresses are inaccurate. Marriage and Divorce information is all absent. Not one case established either marriage or divorce and in some instances, there were five marriages and divorces. You flash on people to cause additional searches and inflated prices but when information is received, it fails to disclose what you flashed as criminal in nature. WHY? I haven't a clue but this site cannot be used to locate people or for investigation purposes. Wish the experience had been better. I have requested that my account be closed but as of today, it hasn't been. Will call tomorrow to make correction on that.

Information provided after initial payment of whatever the amount is, then another payment of $19.99. The information is Less than what you find with a basic Google search. Want a refund? They will offer to give you back half of what you paid. Beware of this scam. Do not waste your time. I will not be surprised when my personal email used to create Instant Checkmate gets flooded with spam mail as just like every other scam that steals your money and sells your personal information. Lesson learned to me, read the reviews first.

With all the "downloading your report" screens and the "careful content is graphic" warnings they really rope you in to thinking the person you're looking up has decent record worth paying the $22 for. Initially I thought that the person I was looking up had hidden records or something, but then when I searched my own name and my brothers (who has had several arrests) I realized that this site is complete BS. It was saying my brother was arrested at six years old and I was arrested in Utah in 2006!? What? They show you info like "their horoscope", really?? That's what I paid for? I called and they offered half of my money back but I just don't have it in me to argue to get more. Sad that companies run scams like this. This review is for the $11 that you ripped me off for. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE.

So far I feel as though I've been "taken". The information on phone numbers is accurate, but the ability to give me a background check or arrest record for the right person is not. Not At All, Every Time I've tried. For that purpose, Checkmate is a scam.

Intrigued by the advertising, I bought into the basic subscription. I'm ashamed of myself - but I learned a valuable lesson for only $22! I can get far more information for FREE by just Googling a name. Instant Checkmate is not just deceptive - it borders on outright fraud and extortion. For the cost of $22.86 a month, this is not worth it. All I ever get is a birthday and maybe close relatives. Knowing others who are in jail or have been, it never can find that info. This is not worth the money for what little you get.

I was extremely unhappy with Instant Checkmate right when I made my purchase. I called them immediately to cancel my purchase and "membership". The gentleman that I spoke with could not find my account information. He explained that he would wait until it had processed and refund my payment. Three months later, I look at my bank statement and I have been charged from the company on a monthly basis. Eventually, I was refunded my money but I was once again on the phone for over 30 minutes as they played a game of putting me on hold and speaking to their supervisor. Each time they came back to the phone after speaking to their supervisor, they gave me a little bit more of a refund (scam). They should have refunded me right away and apologized about their mistake in charging me when I had cancelled the day of purchase. I do not normally put negative reviews about a company but I really feel like they were trying to steal money from me. Do not use this company! Worst customer service I have experienced.

I've had no luck with locating a few former friends based on their names when I knew them. One especially, had been married and probably either remarried or died. I never did know her maiden name. The only thing this report got right was 1) One siblings name; the other 4 were not included. Simple google search revealed more. 2) The date of birth was correct but the date of death included year only. 3) Address were incomplete. 4) It showed criminal records for other people with the same name and did not even include the 17 felony charges (can you say rip-off). 5) Did not include parents. Simple google search does! 6) Showed him as married, he was never married. Really, can you say ripoff? Again, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY... I purchased both the standard and premium report and what I got was junk. I paid over forty dollars for a date of birth; this site should be shut down.

There are no phone numbers even for those in white pages. People who I know live at a given address still aren't listed under their true name. I'm very disappointed and in over 99% of the searches I have done have I learned anything new. I'm on the verge of asking for my money back and contesting the charge on my charge card. I have been with instant checkmate for some time now, and recently added the phone search service.... I have found that the info provided on searches that I perform is usually filled with less than accurate data.... I often run searches on people or numbers that I know personally, and using this as a baseline - the accuracy of the data is poor. I am not certain if I will stay with you much longer.....unless the degree of accurate info increases.

Suggest adding date of verification for addresses. I noticed ours is out of date by six months. It's very difficult to keep up with a mobile society like ours, so giving the searcher an idea of how current the data are/is a difficult task, but it would be helpful.

Complete scam. After the 3rd request to pay another fee and after giving them credit card information, I decided I didn't want the service. Customer service told me they couldn't cancel the transaction, but they would make sure the account would be blocked from repeating my transaction in 6 months. After much yelling, the supervisor refunded 5 months of my "contract" and told me if I tried to dispute or block the credit card charge, I would have to pay it all. Take it or leave it. Don't listen to their sales pitch - especially any offer containing the word "FREE". Cannot and will not ever recommend this company.

I did a test search on my name and there was a repeated warning that my report is graphic. I find that suspicious and a way to get folks to subscribe. I was never arrested or involved in any crimes beyond traffic tickets.

Started to check into it, decided not to, then up popped a 1.00 fee for 5 days free use. I filled out the paper work and gave my credit card number. Then I went to use it, and they wanted another 1.99 to use pdf then they wanted 19.99 to look at anything else. The only information I receive was my name, address, of which I already know. What a bunch of scammer. I will tell everyone about this site. They are stealing money and hiding the truth. You get nothing for 1.00. I am pissed that I was used.

First of all, I paid a dollar $1.00 to start and then they charge me $29.00 to use this site and to date I cannot log in with the email and password of mine. I called and they refunded $14.00 and said I had until the 16th of June to use this site. I can't get on so how does that help?? I have called 3 time and they say it is fixed ... Another run around to screw YOU!!!

I was excited about this service, as I had pd. for it! My experience was like ordering & paying for a new car & receiving a box with the steering wheel & mirror! Most of the content I got, I got free from Google. False advertising. Buyer Beware!

I found the ease of access an absolute breeze. The site is well-thought out, laid out, worked out. My hopes were high when I upgraded to premium for an added $20. Based on the lack of information in most areas, it was worth no more than $3. What would make it worth it and what I signed up to upgrade specifically for, was that your resources would somehow dredge up access to Shawn's e-mail address. To my surprise, Instant Checkmate Member Services contacted me directly, regarding my recent experience with their website. I originally gave the company an unfavorable review, because I received incomplete results about a person I was looking up. Although, I am still not satisfied with those results. I am completely satisfied with the company's integrity! The customer service demonstrated by this company is top notch. I feel they genuinely care. They issued me a refund, which I didn't ask for. and they explained to me in detail how the searches produce certain results. I, as a consumer, appreciate being valued as a customer and a person.

I want to mention that although I find Instant Checkmate inadequate at providing all the services they claim (Marriage/Divorces/Arrest Record, etc.) they are very good to follow up. Two days after my review, the company (Julian) called me personally (in the afternoon) and asked if he could provide me with anything to satisfy my disappointment in Checkmate’s Service. We talked for a lengthy amount of time and tried to explain, etc. I still don't believe they can search all of what they claim or even have the ability to do it, but I don't think there are any other sites (of this nature) that are any better. They claim searches of (9) categories, and the first (3) they are very good at. Therefore, if all you want is a Name & Address & Relatives, & Living/Dead, then I would recommend this site. At least it is legitimate as opposed to a scam, and that's always nice to know when you are dealing with businesses on the internet. BTW: I kept my account (at least for a while) or until I hear of a better one.

Caveat Emptor. "let the buyer beware." Site reports to provide considerable back ground information in many categories of interest: Problem is once you sign up and agree to a monthly fee and access your reports, you find that you must agree to multiple fees to access reports you thought were included.... I was told that the reason for the additional fees was because they had to pay for them. Wish I had been told this in advance. Once you sign up for a trial prior you must cancel or monthly fee will continue.
I called and canceled my subscription, ask for a refund and received a 50% refund. Wish I have read something like this before I signed up. You do not get what they lead you to believe you will receive and this is simply not right. Will see if they cancel my billing and only refund the 50% as promised. It doesn't surprise me that another report claims that they sell you email address so look out for an onslaught spam in you in box. Caveat Emptor!!!!

When I type in a name, specific city and state, it shows names that are not correct. It shows the first name which is correct, but not the full name or correct city/state. Report should state "No records" for the name I am searching. To rate my experience, I feel none of the above. I just feel confused at times.

I would not recommend this to anyone. I am very good in searching for people and I find that Instant Checkmate gave me all the same information I can find for free. I paid for 6 months and used this service for one day (my account was active for one week or less). I thought I would get an arrest record and I was not able to retrieve it. I called to cancel and to get a refund. I am getting a 50% refund (I am getting charged for more than a month's use) when I will never use this again. I was willing to pay the month fee! I just did not feel I should pay more for something that is worthless.
On the positive side it is easy to use. If you have time and patience you can find all of the information on these reports for FREE. I wish I read these reviews first. I would have saved a ton of $. This is my first review I have ever written. I have been dissatisfied with other products. I just feel that this is a scam and people should be aware. Also most information was not accurate!! Buyers BEWARE.

I tried getting info on someone who I know went to jail for child abuse (they beat up my brother), signed up. Was told twice the file HAD important free information paid them and got NOTHING! So I tried one more person with a record and also got nothing! You get more from GOOGLE for free! It's a scam site with no information, I had to call to cancel and was basically TALKED at saying I did not read the fine print. Threatened to write a bad review and after two talks with "management", they refunded my money. Complete crap site!! I used an abbreviated name to sign up and have TONS of junk mail in my mail box with the abbreviated name I used on this site!! I got my money back because I'm strong, but they were reluctant and I'm sure they will take advantage of anyone who will give them the chance!!! Beware!!! Checkmate give me my hour back!

I wanted to run a check on myself just out of curiosity so I used Instant Checkmate. I paid the initial $23 and much of my information was missing. What was there was seriously outdated. It said my current address was an address I lived at over 7 years ago. It showed a vague arrest/traffic in my criminal report. I stupidly paid the extra $20 to upgrade and "see what they can't show me in the basic report." It was exactly the same thing, absolutely nothing changed. It did not elaborate on the arrest/traffic (I assume was for a ticket from years ago). My address was still wrong, no marriage record shown, did not show my professional license (I'm a nurse practitioner) although it did show my astrological sign (how fricken stupid). I called to cancel right away, waiting for the confirmation. Luckily I paid via paypal so hopefully if I'm charged again paypal will deal with them. This site is for pathetic stalkers, not for people interested in a serious check. Avoid it. $43 wasted to read my horoscope. Total frauds.

Staff member bought one report, but in essence they sign you up for reoccurring billing. Additional, the one report bought had little or no information dispute requesting a full report. The site gives you one or two pieces, then proceeds to up sell you for more and more information. They advertise a criminal check, however, you must pay EXTRA to get that information. The information sold to people is obtained through free sources. Customer service is not helpful, they will ask for private information in an effort to "verify an account". However, I suspect that is when an account is established. DO NOT USE INSTANT CHECKMATE.

I bought a subscription to Instant Checkmate and performed a search of my own background. I found myself, yes ... BUT my personal profile was merged with that of my brother's ... had my bro's name listed as an alias for me, and vice versa. Listed both of our addresses (present/current) AND contained references to potential criminal records that don't exist. I had to contact Customer Service at this lame site, get reimbursed,and have their skewed information removed from the site. I do NOT recommend this as a reliable source of information whatsoever. Actually, it's sort of a big joke - with potentially damaging consequences. This site needs to be closed down since it cannot deliver what it says it will.

This was most disappointing... your advertisements over promise. Nothing is available without paying $25 and that information is general knowledge through online Google searches at no charge. Then, if I want more detailed information, there is an additional $20. I will let others know.

Sure... it can find 90% Names & Relatives is real good....... BUT AFTER THAT there is very rarely a telephone number... reverse look-up is nonexistent... ARREST RECORDS must be just a "Come-on" with you folks as with the MARRIAGE & DIVORCE RECORDS. I found only (1) person with a LICENSE of some sort. I signed for (6) mos... but I won't renew unless you get your act together. Personally, I just think you don't even have the capability to provide what you claim... Disappointed because I saw a review claiming you were the highest rated; that doesn't say much for the whole lot of you. You've got to be making the "Bucks" but that's really how most folks find success.

This was sort of a waste of money. Everything available I could easily find out online by myself. It seems pretty dishonest how in order to get the type of information one would expect on this site, you have to purchase multiple levels of "access". What makes it so frustrating is that it is not clear upon first purchase that you are receiving so little for the money you expect to pay.

They do not cancel upon telephone request. They ruse you to believe it may be sent to junk mail and lost but if you track you JM box, you will see it was not sent at all. Cancels are not sent to confirm or evidence the cancellation. You are then billed on auto for months until it is brought up again. Site has no way to remove credit card or bank card info. They have it and only choice is to go to your bank and to unauthorized their charges through chargebacks.
Add my name to any FTC lawsuit. Glad to participate.

This company and along with many others has false advertising. They have their service quoted in any web search "FREE". Their service is not free. Once you put in your number to obtain a name, the database comes back with information saying they have it. To get it, you must pay!!! Why are you letting all of these companies put the words FREE in their service description. They should NOT BE ABLE to do that. FALSE advertising. You put in a search on the internet for Free telephone reverse look up so you can obtain the person's name who calls you. Practically all the listed services state FREE. They are require payment for that information. This is just like the scheme that Free Credit Reports followed in which the gov't or whomever got them to stop!

When I first subscribed to your services, I was given more information than what I have been getting in the last 2 months or more. One name in particular gives the address and age of the person but when I click on it the name and information that shows up is for the son whose address is actually different and the information is about him. I did double checks on others who, in the beginning gave much info and now all I get is just the name and address and not much else. Phone numbers - forget that. 98% of the time, a message pops up and says no information on this number. I am going to call and stop my subscription. Also I think the premium package is a waste of money.

This website is just like the others. Although it states that they don't believe in hidden fees and blah blah, it is a lie. I would have paid whatever the price and renewed and remained a loyal customer if I was given a single fee with nothing extra to buy, no premium content and info that I have to pay extra for.

This site was advertised to have background information. I searched myself and while it does have SOME correct information, it in no way depicts information that I know to be true about myself. For instance, there should be a marriage and divorce that is not listed under my current, former or under my former spouse's name. NOT worth the money!!!!

Worst customer service ever! I went through the searches, created an account, then when I was comparing prices, they charged three months to my paypal! Called immediately to cancelled and was yelled at. Told them that the whole thing was an accident, and they pretty much called me an idiot. I clicked one of the memberships to see what the total price was going to be, and then I am directed back to website with a brand new membership. After the horrible phone call, I went to look at what I just HAD to pay for (cause they don't do refunds), and the results were horrible. I even searched myself, and the information was wrong. Please, use another site.

I was hoping to get an idea about what someone running a background check on me would see. I was curious about my public history and what is "out there". Not only did your stupid expensive report not have anything of any real value but much of the information that I was presented with was absolutely bogus! Waste of money. Did not provide any useful information that I could not find for free. Keeps asking for more money for more information to be provided, after I already paid over $20.00. When I called for a refund I got a bunch of ** response & finally 1/2 of my money back.

Recently I watched a news program regarding your name on the internet. I came across Instant Checkmate and proceeded to check me out. Fast forward, at the end of the report it stated, "ME, may have possible criminal records"!!!! DAMN MAD, I called Instant Checkmate and asked to speak with a supervisor. Very professional, the rep asked what was this regarding? I proceeded to explain to him, no holding back, in which, he put me on hold. Most likely the best decision that rep did all day, I'm sure. The Supervisor, very professional, asked what he could help me with. DAMN MAD, I proceeded to tell him what I saw. He responded with......"the word here ma'am is 'POSSIBLE' Criminal Records"!!! It seems this company is allowed to do whatever it deems "POSSIBLE" for you to purchase their reports!! There is no justification for what is going on here, therefore, THEY ARE A FRAUD!!!! I will be contacting my attorney!!

I tried to find info and was only able to get info I already had... Yet I had paid almost thirty dollars! But when I called to complain, I was told they make no guarantees and I was stuck w/ the charges for nothing! I did notice, however, I could give them more money to access the reports I thought I was accessing w/ my thirty dollars... But, again, no guarantees! In other words, keep giving this company money... for nothing... I know they are totally laughing at us.

Instant Checkmate is worthless. First of all, the company fools you into signing one of those contracts that renews automatically with no warning. That alone should be illegal. So, basically if you want the full use of the product term you paid for, you have to cancel on the day before it gets automatically renewed or else you get charged again. If you cancel earlier, then the remaining time you have prepaid for is cancelled.
First of all, very little actual information is actually ever provided. Most of the information categories provided contain no information at all, with a pop up that claims that the information is just not available to the public. So what good is that? Worse yet, the information provided is wildly inaccurate. I easily found that out when I did a search on myself. The "known associations" were laughable. Mine contained none of my relatives, and so many people I never even heard of. It even contained one of my husband's clients from 15 years ago. I ran a check on someone that I know, died 3 years in prison, and he came up clean. My own profile had more offenses listed in the police records. Offenses which occurred in cities I had never been to. How scary is that? There is no doubt that I have been able to find much more information, and much more accurate information, just googling people online, without using Instant Checkmate.

Although I have found information on the different people I've searched for, the information is not current enough to actually locate or contact them. The phone numbers are long out of date and Etc. There is information included in the report that is worthless (I don't want to know who has committed sex crimes in their neighborhood!). Divorce and marriage records are always blank as well as License records.
When I purchased a membership, I expected to get all the information I needed to assist me in my searches. Instead, I only located basic, peripheral and outdated information with the option to spend even more money for "Premium" search results. Also I didn't realize Checkmate would continue to bill my credit card automatically. I had to call to get them to stop billing me and I did not get a full refund. I am very disappointed.
