What is Instant Checkmate?
Instant Checkmate lets you look up a person’s information by typing in their name, age and location in the search console. Instant Checkmate asks you questions about the person as it searches databases to narrow results down to the right match.
Once you have a match, you purchase a membership subscription to access the report. A subscription gives you access to unlimited reports for as long as you are enrolled.
You can look up the following information and more using Instant Checkmate:
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- Age
- Location history
- Job histories
- Criminal records
- Sex offenders registration
- Arrest records
- Census data
- Social media profiles
- Bankruptcy history
Strict guidelines dictate how and why you can use a public records search service. Instant Checkmate is not a consumer reporting agency, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) prohibits using Instant Checkmate to look up any information governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Before using Instant Checkmate, make sure you review the guidelines of what you can and can’t do with the information found on its site.

Instant Checkmate offers two subscription plans. Both plans give you access to unlimited reports. The company bills one-month subscriptions every 30 days and three-month subscriptions every 90 days.

When I subscribed for the basic 30-day service they automatically charged me an additional $4.99 for an upgraded service i did not subscribe to. I had to call in to get that service cancelled and get a $4.99 refund. They did refund my money promptly.

Bruno was very helpful. I called regarding a refund that I did yesterday. He explained that he did not see a refund! I instantly got upset. However, he explained that he would do it right now. He said I should get this back to my account in 3 -5 business days. I asked him if he was sure that it was canceled and refunded. He assured me it would be, and if it is not, call back after 4 days. He also explained a survey was going to be emailed to me (this would confirm my call today). He also explained calls are recorded so if it does not go thru PLEASE call back. I feel he handled it all very well, he sounded very competent in his job.

I cancelled my monthly subscription over a year ago. I only needed it for 1 search. I have still received a monthly 3.99 charge, monthly after but haven't called until today. I thought it was going to be long and drawn out to get this fixed but turns out I actually had 2 separate subscriptions, and I only cancelled the one. The customer service rep was able to find my account see the cancellation date of the initial service and why I was still being billed and get this cancelled in under 5 minutes. He also saw I had a discount offer on my account and asked if I was interested, but was not pushy in making the sale. I said I was not interested at the moment, and that was that. Definitely a pain-free customer service experience.

I did not get the expected information on the person I searched. Even my personal info was lacking in content. It gave me address that I have never been to or have had any part of. Because I did not download the info, can not give more details. The biggest issue was lack of military records, which is what I was looking for about my Dad.

Unsatisfied with the product offered. Information in reports are inaccurate, cancelled membership immediately after viewing reports. I believed I was receiving a trial period prior to moving forward. Dissatisfied with being charged the full month rate.

Cristhofer was very good at explaining to me the steps I needed to do to reactivate my account. My credit card had been compromised and I was waiting for a new one and in the meantime, my account was cancelled. I had tried several times to access information from this company and found it very difficult or impossible to get the information I wanted. When I tried to cancel my membership, I was given misinformation from Bruno although I did get a quick resolution and refund. It took another call to Alexandria to get all my questions answered and still didn't get the refund I feel I deserved. I was being overcharged for over a year and was told, even though it was admittedly their fault, that they would only refund 3 months. I not only will never refer this company to others but I will actively inform others if my poor experience. This review also asks for a receipt to be accepted as a "verified buyer". I have never received a receipt of any kind. Is this just another way they get away with not having to show my review to others? I have been a member for over a year but have no way to prove this. Curious?

This company is very difficult, if not impossible to cancel. A year or so after I canceled, I realized that they were still charging me even though I had never used their services. When I called the company about this, they said that they saw my cancellation in the records, but since I didn't have a confirmation from them, they didn't cancel and continued to charge my card. They will not provide a refund even though there were nearly $400 in charges.

They claimed to provide military records. I paid for a 1 month subscription and all I got was my father's last known address and my mother's name. No information on his 20+ year military career from PFC to Major in the US Army. Your system will not accept receipts or photos of my receipt for member # **.

Well, I tried it, bought the subscription, and got screwed. It is a one-time use for a particular name, and if you mistakenly delete report, you cannot search that name again. I will not recommend this product to anyone.

Very dissatisfied with the service. Before purchasing, the information that was 'found' stated a document I was looking for was there. After purchase, the document was not. That said, I was VERY satisfied with the customer service I received when looking for cancellation and a refund.

I really can’t leave a review because I didn’t do it, or I don’t remember doing it. I think one of my kids might have. I tried to leave a review for customer service but it would not let me do it, just kept saying that my answers weren’t correct or something, but I just wanted to say that customer service was amazing. Having inhabited this earth for 89 years, I feel that my life review was somewhat incomplete. For example, I didn't find anything concerning my educational background, that includes a bachelor of science degree with an accounting major from the College of the Holy Cross, right here in Worcester, MA, nor about my 2 Masters' degrees, one each from Worcester State University and from Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Nor was there a word mentioned concerning my teaching career that spanned 38 years as a business educator at the former New England School of Accounting and two secondary schools in the Worcester Public School System.
I should probably add that my career as a Maintenance Shop Clerk must necessarily be attributed to somebody other than myself. Also missing from the report is any mention of my military service both in the Massachusetts Air National Guard, as well as in the U.S. Air Force, both here and in Germany. In conclusion I would suggest that there were numerous people named in my report, but I was least among them!

You had false information on your ad - online. I was looking for a marriage certificate which in fact your ad states that I could get on your Instant checkmate. After going thru all your questions and putting in a payment credit card then I find out that a marriage certificate is personal and that you cannot give me a copy!!!! Or even let me know that you were unable to give me any information about that!!!! I want a credit for the charge you put onto my credit card!!!! $35.47.

The representative seemed helpful. The problem is that it is not clear on the website that you are signing up for a monthly charge. I thought I was only signing up for one month and have no use for an ongoing subscription. He explained that there was a check box that explained it, but I didn't understand the conditions.

There wasn't any useful information paying the expensive monthly fee of $34.57and then even more for the$3.99 fee to download your report that there was no reason to save so I don't understand what benefit you get for your subscription when each category you clicked on for more details only asked you for more payment to view. On every category not just one so the extra $5.99 for every category on top of the cost of the subscription and download fee was outrageous to pay for nothing in the end but information that I already knew.
Your service does NOT provide anything useful for a background check and you don't even find that out until you have already paid all your fees! What a rip off!!! Also my Guardian Protection app red flags your website as a huge risk for leaking personal information and claims it to be unsafe to use! Check that out for yourself! I'm reporting that to the federal trade commission and the Better Business Bureau. Waste of my hard earned money!!!!

I enjoyed the program very much until they started stealing from my checking account by double billing me for 3 months. After I was contacted by my bank about the double charges I ask the bank to not pay the double charge but to refund me for one of the monthly charges, my bank refund me for the 2nd charge and now instant checkmate cut off my access to my account after they have stolen money for 2 months prior to this.
