I was dissatisfied with the contents of the information provided by Checkmate Inc. I could've gotten this info through the phone book. I was needing to see if this person was remarried or not. Please cancel my membership as of today. I will not be recommending this site to anyone. Oh and I didn't like that fact that you have to pay again for "extra" information... I hope your company will change its business tactics in the future.

I paid for a 5 day trial after I searched myself. The site really made me curious to know what all this info was about me online. Well it really had a number of things wrong! I guess it does make me feel somewhat better knowing people can't find out everything about me. Well, at least on this site. I really feel that if you want to charge people for something don't wait until after they pay for it to mention, "The information available on our website may not be 100% accurate, complete, or up to date, so do not use this information as a substitute for your own due diligence, especially if you have concerns about a person's criminal history." Lastly, a "refine" tool would make things much less aggravating. I already feel I have wasted my money (which I will be requesting a refund), but I really do not like wasting my time. Please do better. No one appreciates being tricked.

Looking for father and siblings. Got nothing but what a name. Could not find any other information, plus a lot of information is wrong. I'd love to find my kin. I was giving this a shot. But it really didn't tell me anything - no pictures. So no help.

This company is nothing more than an aggregator of personal info including address and phone numbers to advertise and promote other information is a complete fabrication and they should be seriously investigated - a total scam of a company.

You should be upfront with what you get for your money. Getting on and then having to pay extra for information that you thought would be included is not a good way to do business. I feel it is a lie and very misleading. It is nice to be able to access the information that is available quickly, but I already knew most of the info in the initial report so feel like I am not getting my money's worth.

I ran a background check on myself just as I would a credit report and found two criminal records that need to be removed. There was no way to access information to correct this. I read your disclaimer that I could find something shocking.

Old addresses, not birthdate month, no day. Paid for premium and got nothing that I wanted. No marriage record, no fb and I know they have one. No cell phone record which I have been given so they do have. Basically disappointed that I paid to get less info than I already have.

I used to be able to look up a name and get several results. I now get several results but no longer do I get the stars or red flags - just circles trying to reach for something. Also, I can click on "Location" or any other item and nothing. I mean nothing shows up anymore. Where do I find my account information? I find where I can change my password or my name but nothing else. I'm beginning to wonder what I signed up for.

If you go here and do not call them immediately you will start seeing a monthly charge. There are no bills to remind you to cancel. The bills just keep coming. This is one of those scammy businesses. Beware. I won't go anywhere near this company again.

I followed the prompts to get information through this service, which took several minutes. There was not an upfront mention of a charge. I know you can get court records online, so I at first thought it was a free service. After I had gone through all the steps, including waiting as information about my inquiry apparently was being gathered and assembled, I got a screen that said to have access to it would cost $19.99. This didn't surprise me a lot, and I was willing to pay for what I thought would be helpful information. So I clicked on payment method (PayPal account).
Then I got another message that there would be a $1.99 charge. I approved that. The information displayed was from 2001 13 years ago. It was outdated and useless. However, for another $20, I could supposedly have access to more-detailed information. I called the service immediately to try to cancel the payment and was told that there was a disclaimer at the bottom of the website page that did not guarantee the timeliness of information. I consider this a scam and do not recommend using it.

I tried using Instant Checkmate vs. PeopleSmart.com and both left me feeling that there were shortcomings to both. PeopleSmart was more current but Instant Checkmate had more diversity. PeopleSmart had some emails yet would not provide me their emails.

I have looked up several to see the type of info available and have found that there is not much info at all. The BIGGEST disappointment is getting the offer for PREMIUM DATA and there is this huge list of items and there was barely anything whatsoever shown (1 item in 4 categories) and what I did was order the premium on myself in order to check for accuracy and availability of the info. Very Disappointed. Even slightly disappointed with the general service but I guess what can I expect? Really surprised that the Social sections aren't full on everyone, especially since 71% of Online Adults have a Facebook account and 52% of American households have at least one account. Arrest Records, Marital Info, these should definitely have info but most do not. Business Affiliations, How does a business owner not have their business listed? There is so much more I could comment about but it is 3 am. Like I said, disappointed but the premium data upgrade really takes the cake. Oh and being an Internet Marketer myself, the PDF download upgrade is poor to even insult someone to have to pay for that. Couldn't you raise your price by 50 cents for everyone and make same?

To start, I did the sign up and thought that I was purchasing a one-time, one person look up. Not!! I found out that that was not the case months later via the account I used to do the check. No monthly notice of charges like reputable companies do. Just taking my money. Then I figured I would try and do a check to recoup the money lost, and when I did, the only way to find out anything was to upgrade the info. No warning again of impending charges, just an e-mail afterwards telling me that they charged me again. Still taking my money with not a whole lot of return. BEWARE THIS COMPANY!! They will steal you blind, and give you a great big pile of crap info in return. Very very disappointed and disgusted. I will definitely cancel this account like I should have done to start with. Too bad it cost me money to learn a hard lesson. NO TRUST.

I paid $22- for false information, or to be accurate less than 25% of the information on me and my family was correct. The rest was bunk about people with the same names, different educational degrees, states, ages, etc. This site couldn't even get my astrological sign correct. It was a waste of time, and more importantly, my money - I want it back, but that will never happen. I have no criminal record, but Instant Checkmate gave me a possibility of 4. Totally, totally WORTHLESS. Do NOT waste your time or money here. It's a complete scam. They start asking for more money for little upgrades also - SCAM SCAM SCAM. Can't bill me anymore - I got rid of you from my charge site. Found no way to contact but through here, or a phone call. Being certain that's another scam - I'm not calling.

This is a $59.00 Ripoff. Your site shows dozens of records. After you submit your credit card information, you get trash that is available in the white pages. None of the information is accurate, as I searched all of my relatives, and very little was true. I will cancel ASAP and tell others who might be interested in your site to STAY AWAY.

My complaint about my Instant Checkmate subscription has been resolved. I was happily surprised to receive a telephone call from an Instant Checkmate representative with whom I discussed my disappointment in the scope of available information. What was available using your service was simply what I could have obtained using basic internet searches. To test that the person I was investigating must not have a criminal background, I did searches on well known criminals and when they also had no available records, I confirmed that your service was not able to provide the peace of mind I was seeking. The gentleman who called very patiently explained the limitations in availability and legality in securing the records that are available. I appreciated his concern and especially his offer to provide a refund. I received the credit promptly and consider my complaint very favorably resolved. Thank you for your excellent customer service.

Although I was able to verify name, address, age, etc which helped with my concern I was disappointed to learn that criminals could have their records removed. My family who complained I was scammed even pointed out your poor BBB rating. I wish I could get a refund but had better not be charged a second month.

For some reason it shows that I was married to Billie Jo **, (True!) but I was divorced in April of 2010 and it says that this information is not available? This is VERY important! People (Girls) that may check me, it will show or look like I am Still Married!!! Billie Jo now lives in Hugo, OK! She is still using my last name **! I have a court order that she is supposed to have changed it back to **! She also still uses **! I have her Address if you want it!? She is a forger and embezzler! There are criminal proceedings being filed in Arizona! But, they (Arizona) will not go after her in Oklahoma!!! She uses my name to this day to try and get credit cards or try to buy things! She is STILL doing it! I can not stop her! She knows ALL my personal information! She continues to steal my ID! I have to keep my credit rating BAD so she can't use it! Try living this WAY!
The name Billy with or without the "Jo" does not exist! Or in some credit card instances is Billie Jo **, **, or **! Some companies in the past have sent her credit and used the name "Billy" so she just used it! She forged my name and had a friend at her work at the time 2007 to 2009 notarize and forge a signature card and withdrew over 60,000.00 dollars from my pension and 401K before she ran away to Oklahoma! If she is caught in Arizona, she WILL be arrested! People NEED to be aware of this woman! God help anyone that gets involved with her! I was married to her for 28 years!!!! And you think you know someone! WRONG! Yes! I am Stupid!!!!! Never again in MY LIFE! NO Women will EVER have my information or my bank accounts information! PERIOD!

The site claims you can get a FREE report, but you cannot. I looked up myself. It gave me nothing but my age and cities where I have lived. Here's how it played out. I googled driving record. I saw:
View Criminal History In MN & Get Driving Record Reports In Seconds.
I clicked on the link and followed the instructions. I waited and waited. It said my report was ready. I filled out the contact info. I went to my email to receive my report. I clicked on the link, and it asked for payment. I understand that there can be service fees, but it is FALSE ADVERTISING when a company posts an ad that says it is FREE, and then it is NOT. BBB accreditation should be removed.

I found most of the information is not up to date. Even my information that is in there is old. The phone number I haven't had for 5 or 6 years. Trying to find family member from my ex for my children to let them know of a death of their brother. Just trying to help my children.

Very inaccurate, incomplete records. Arrest records, missing of 2 people I know with a long records. Didn't have my marriages or divorce. Or my wife's. Took my money, and kept wanting to sell me more services.

Their information is so INACCURATE it's not even funny! Highly disappointed, I will be canceling my subscription. It is a WASTE OF YOUR MONEY!!!! Seriously! Their information is half assed. They don't do marriage/divorce records, they don't even have the information up to date and they have extra little fees like if you want the premium it's extra or to do a reverse # search that's extra. I searched my friend and their report says they still live in CA. They haven't lived in CA for years nor does it have up to date criminal records!

What they don't tell you is the info they give you is pretty much public already. If you want anything more you have to pay an additional fee, so your monthly charge is just the beginning. So this could get to be very expensive if you want to look at more than 1 person.

Spending over $40 to learn what you had recorded for me was a colossal waste of money. Instant Checkmate promises huge results and delivers so little that it is fraudulent. My address and phone number are ten years out of date. There are no marriage or divorce records! Perhaps a complaint to your and my Attorneys General will stop your outlandish promises that are hollow at best and total fabrications at worst! I want a refund because you have antiquated information!!

I am dissatisfied because I purchased this mainly for marriage/divorce notices and criminal activity. With this service I cannot get what I really want.

I have been disappointed with incomplete records especially marriage and divorce reports which do not show accurately. Date and place of deaths would be nice to include as you go forward. Overall I have been satisfied.

Instant checkmate provides no information of significance. I can verify more information about the two people I looked at much more easily. In fact, I looked myself up and it didn't even find a marriage record for me and my wife of 35 years. This is a joke. BTW - in the teaser part of this thing, it noted "possible criminal record" when it was doing it's search on me. I really was interested in that considering I've never been arrested. Of course, the report showed nothing.

I needed to find out who has been harassing me, so I tried this site. Not only was ALL of the information incorrect, but the rude customer service was just the icing to give you the overrating of 1 star. My rating is NEGATIVE 10! There's my review. I paid over $40, I get to speak my mind!

Only the most basic information is available without buying the Premium upgrade. Much of the basic information is missing or incorrect, e.g., Marriage/Divorce records.

This isn't accurate information. Not one person has marriage or divorce records correct. It gives no more information than a phone book.

The information I requested required a hidden fee to "upgrade." The information I was able to access was only addresses, the most recent of which was 15 years old. He has moved several times since then, which is public record. Some of the addresses were his son's, where he never lived. In all, a ripoff.

This site gives you less than you would find out on your own! Address and phone numbers were out of date or wrong. Relatives, even close relatives were missing. Arrest record not up to date, I mean traffic and criminals records 2-3 years old! Don't waste your money.

While I applaud the effort of this company to provide information, I am upset with the amount of inaccurate information that is being shown. This could really hurt a person if they were looking for the truth about someone. It would be better to make sure all information is current and updated and for the person you are searching for, not with the same name.

I searched several people whose information I know just to check the accuracy of the information and the information was not very accurate. Everything from birth dates to addresses are inconsistent as far as accuracy. I don't know how I am supposed to trust the other information that I am looking for.

Be careful......Used this service a couple of times (2) around the 1st of the year. Paid for each basic search. Just got my April credit card statement and found a $22.+ charge. Called and was informed that I had signed up for and was charged for the "recurring" membership....Funny, I was never informed of that when I did the searches and I specifically chose the one time search instead of the monthly or recurring membership. Well it's canceled now. Won't use them again......

Not satisfied with the information available to see. If you want detailed information you still need to purchase the upgraded version. Bits of pieces that lead to much of nothing. Wrong spelling of names, misinformation on people like myself and others I know personally who don't have or never had records, but people that I do know that have records show nothing about that. You have where I've been arrested and I've never been arrested in my life. You should verify before releasing false information. If I had the money I would sue you on the false information you have on myself.

I feel that I have already been scammed or even ripped off. For starters I should not have to pay for this info, however I did and the only real information I get is exactly what I could have gotten from any of these people's friends. I understand you have to charge but they to want me to pay extra for all the information I am looking for is wrong on you guys part. And just because I find some info the only way I know I have the right person is because I already know most of their stuff. I feel you should at least provide a photo of the person I am searching for.
I am sure you don't have photos of everyone but you should if they have a criminal record. And I am sure if I upgraded and payed you more money, the photos would be provided, Right? Well I am not paying anymore money for what you should be showing me. But I will also be cancelling this service when my month is up. Again I have been scammed and ripped off. My bad this time but it won't happen again.

I purchased a service to get background checks on people (including criminal, sex offenders, etc, etc.). However, only after I made my purchase was I told that I had to pay extra to get the premium package which includes all the information you really want (not name, alias, address, possible relatives). In addition, before you realize that you haven't bought what you thought you bought, they upsell you to buy something that will enable you to view and print the document clearly via pdf.

I was recently resubscribing to an online dating site, and was flagged that there was a background issue, paid the money for the background only to find nothing there. I called the toll free number, the agent stated that is all that they could see or the local police gave to their discretion. I was told I would receive a refund of the initial 19.99 but never was.

Cost of service and what you will provide needs to be up front. This concept that you will lead someone on as to the information you will provide and only at the end ask for the charge card number and then when I submit my charge card the information you provide is nothing more than an address and a phone number which I could have gotten out of the phone book. Then you ask for another $20.00 to provide what? Their gender or race.
It's too bad that you can't seem to figure out that if you have a viable product, you don't need to disguise your costs until after the fact. Why don't you try telling your potential customers the costs and associated services you will provide up front. Something tells me the motivation for this service is in pursuit of the almighty dollar as opposed providing a valuable service. Too bad. Greed has no limits. Join the crowd.

I wish I could put 0 stars to these thieves!!!! They charge $24 for "unlimited reports" for a month. With that money they will just show you things that other sites show you for free: registered home address and phones, NOTHING MORE! You need to pay $20 dollars MORE for EACH PERSON YOU SEARCH to get "additional information". They are thieves and I am going to file a lawsuit against them!!!!!

I find the site to be inaccurate in many ways. My father doesn't exist. I've looked up criminals with no record of incident when I can go to OTIS (offender tracking information system) and it's all there. And to boot I paid the extra $20 dollars looking up my ex, Samanda **, as she has an extensive record yet nothing shows up. I feel the info is dated and the same info can be found on local and state sites. Would not recommend this site to anyone.

I just decided to see if these background services were any good and signed up for a month and did a check on someone I know. The service did not find that the subject had been married twice, failed to show a criminal arrest, basically had no information that wasn't easily found on the internet. It is a scam and worthless service. Additionally, the service offers you a "Full" Report but then once you pay and get in the site, it offers "Premium" upgrades for additional funds and requires you to pay additional monies if you want a PDF copy of the report. I don't know how this worthless company can sleep at night and stay in business other than the curiosity of stupid people like me. When I immediately called to cancel my future payments (which they automatically withdrawn), they directed me to a cruise vacation site and when I finally reached customer service, they were moderately helpful but never even asked why I was cancelling. They got their payment so I guess they don't care. Avoid this site, company and service at all costs.

I checked on myself, my long ago ex-husband, then others from my past. Significant pieces and quantity of the data are incorrect. I observed incorrect phone numbers, ages, who is married to whom, unavailable info due to State/County laws, multiple names under Arrest section (when should be just the one individual), etc. I will not be continuing with this project after the first month.

This company is a complete scam. You have to pay extra for every service worth having. The information they give you with a standard membership can be found almost anywhere. You have to pay an extra 3$ to get a PDF version of the report. You have to pay an Extra 20$ for detailed information like criminal record, weapons permits, DUI and criminal cases. It's extra to search for a phone number. Save your money or expect to pay 50$ or more for the actual service you wanted.

I looked up a search on myself. It had results on other people with the same name that were not me. It did not have correct information, that is except that I have no records of criminal history. Showed the other people had some interests or group belongings that I don't even know of. I paid to get a background check that was not updated with addresses I have never even seen.

Paid for this service, people were not the correct ones. They said I had to pay more to get info I needed. All I got was an address which I had already found on Switchboard. This is a rip off. I really want a refund but am sure I will never get it.

Could not access any marriages or divorces for several counties in TX even though they are publicly able to be viewed on County District Court Websites. This is incomplete information on something considered vital.

Yesterday I tried to order a report/one month subscription, and kept receiving the message that there was something wrong with my card and that I should call you. I did and the agent told me the system might be down and that I should check over the next couple of days to be sure I was not charged. So I look today and I was charge double--$45 and change--and never received a report. Called again and your agent said it was just a "pending" charge, but I am not convinced. There is nothing wrong with your agents, but your system sucks. I will not be using this service again.

I needed some background information on myself where I needed specific dates of incidents for some paperwork. I signed up for Instantcheckmate and it told me it had several records. I paid for the service and got no records. I was asked to upgrade to a premium service to get more in depth records and still turned up no records. Only records available about myself were records of someone else. Called Instantcheckmate to complain and cancel after spending $40 in five minutes for nothing. They cancelled my account with no refunds.

I have had a subscription to this service for more than a year, I think. Over that period of time, the availability of information has shrunk. Initially, I got name, address, birthday, phone number, family members etc.,etc. However, the last several months the info seems to not include phone, birthday and the site is slow and not near as responsive. I am always encouraged, it seems, to upgrade for info I got initially, in the beginning. If it doesn't improve, I'm cancelling.

The criminal/arrest part of the report was missing 3 arrests that I know of personally. I am friends on Facebook with the person in the report, but he had nothing listed under social media. Overall I feel let down by the lack of information, especially since I had to pay for it. I wish I could have found the order # because I would have put it in.

I am so sorry to have to say that we are very disappointed with Checkmate. First there were "bugs". We typed in one name and got the info on another. We did report these bugs. But then we decided to look up some of our own family members just to make sure of the accuracy, but discovered that some of us don't even exist! How can we trust any of the information on others? Also, I immediately started getting a large assortment of Junk mail within 24 hours of ordering Checkmate. Is there any connection? So far, I have not found anything new that I couldn't find free on ancestry.com or even White Pages or other people finders. I started to cancel my subscription a few minutes ago, but decided to wait until your hours tomorrow when I could hopefully speak to a real human being. Then this box popped up. So tomorrow is another day, and I will probably just make the call.

More data is available. Comments on ratings section of first background check. Boone County Missouri court 13th district public access to Case.net Courts.mo.gov has partial history and current warrant information and charges. Another report should be available for "reflexive flailing" in Arizona or New Mexico, but the last is hearsay. Social sites include Facebook, two known Yahoo accounts, and Ok Cupid along with other dating sites one of which she was using in 2006 of Match.com after being held in Boone county jail in 2005 for unknown reasons. Veronica is on the roster as an inmate last known stay 2005. Glad to help. **, other emails used excessively sparingly or not at all. Today I signed up for the 22.95 +1.99 PDF deal. I went online and ran a search in my own name to make sure the site was on the up and up. Well, they had my name correct, some of my past addresses, and that was it. I have been married and divorced 5 times, no record of any of them. I have several felony, convictions, none showing. To sum it up, when you first go to their site, they let you try a sample. It shows the same thing there, that it shows for the basic program I paid for. The old days, this would be called theft or fraud. I wish these kind of programs were removed from business practices online.

I knew the person I was checking up on had been arrested at least 2x but those records weren't listed on the report (although I was able to find them easily and for free with a general online search of my own). They didn't even have the marriage or divorce records I knew of and not one social media link for this person!! I then did another search to see if it yielded better results but I still had the same experience.

This site, Instant Checkmate, is a really bad rip-off. The directions are misleading and the information is inaccurate for almost everything. After you refuse the offer of about $22.00 for research from public records, a trial offer of .99 comes up. Click that and you get barely a telephone number and address. Then a "Premium" offer comes up: for $10.00, they'll tell you more. But all of that information is inaccurate, or for the wrong person with the same name. Really bad. And you get billed for it.

I'm amazed anyone has given them anything more than 1 star. The site simply does not provide the information it advertises providing, then when you sign up, they instantly start the making promises game over again trying to get you to pay for a premium account. They couldn't even find a record for my wife, let alone any marriage record for myself. So what exactly have I paid for? I call customer service and they start impolitely telling me that it's my fault for not clearly reading the T&C's, which basically say that "Our records may not be up to date or complete, so it's fine if we take your money and don't give you what we said you'd get, and then refuse you a refund when you don't get it." This is pretty much the definition of a scam. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they have an alert that there's currently a government action against this company. I hope it's to shut the thieves down.

I did a background check on a person and received very limited information. It lacked some pertinent info that I know to be true, i.e., an arrest with overnight confinement in a county jail and any marriage/divorce records whatsoever. I did multiple searches with slightly differing parameters. Since the items aforementioned are all public record, I expected at least one of these to show up. None did, which made the entire exercise of using Instant Checkmate useless. Additionally, several months later, I was checking my credit card statement and I was still being charged by Instant Checkmate, without any email notification. They silently continue to charge your credit card. All in all an unpleasant experience with almost no utility.

I received an email that I found in my spam box today alerting me that negative information had been entered about me on Instant Checkmate but unless I provide them with all of my protected confidential information and credit card details I am not to have access to it. This is a complete scam! The only person in the world I can think of who would enter negative details about me happens to be a man who ended up date raping me and leaving me covered with bruises and so sore that I could barely move for a few days. If negative information can be entered about a person without a formal trial, is not that a source of perjury?

I cancelled my account on April 4th online and my renewal date would have been 4/22 and 4/23 they charged my credit card again. So I call them today 4/23 and explain I canceled my account online on 4/4 and I want the charge removed and I even sent their support team a screenshot on my confirmation page from their website saying it was submitted and they said no to credit me back my money. Additionally, the First Lady I spoke with said that they are beta testing on their website and told me that was probably why but that she couldn't do anything. Personally I get this happening to a lot of people and they are essentially stealing money from people.
If I were a betting person I would bet there's going to be a class action lawsuit in their future for refusing to honor cancellations on time and for refusing to refund customers their money. Lastly, the two customer service people I spoke with one being a manager obviously do not understand the meaning of customer service and were rude. I've been in the customer service/technical support industry for 20 years so I know when someone is not proving good service and additionally when I asked who it could speak with above the manager or write president of the company etc. she said, "you can't." I give them a zero on customer service and zero on technical support and their website obviously does not work. Beware using their site...use it at your own risk and possible loss of money.

Everyone I looked up I know for a fact the background on these people and if any information showed it was 95% wrong or didn't show at all. Some information was scrambled between different people that should have gone to the other. I feel like this was a waste of my money!!!

I am a little disappointed in the records available for marriage/divorce and arrests. I was able to find my own traffic tickets, but was unable to view arrest records of individuals I know have been arrested. You have no record (can't find) info on subjects that I know are married or divorced, as well. Less than satisfied with the info I was able to access. I can find most of this info elsewhere on the net. This was a waste of my money and I will be cancelling when my month is up.

I used them once to find information on a person living in NJ. The information was out of date. They continued to bill me for many many months because they must have a hard to find continuous billing note on their site. I view them as little better than scam artists. Shame on this company.

I know I signed up for the possibility that the info would not be accurate, but the only thing they got right was my current address and mentioned my ex and his wife and son. The other inaccuracies are too numerous to count. This was not helpful for me at all. Hopefully since I am stuck with it now for a month, I can find something out that may be accurate for others, but now I have my doubts.

We are a company that has been in business in Colorado for over 30 years. Our name is very similar to Instant Checkmate. We average 5 telephone calls per day from angry consumers looking for this business that we are mistaken for. Our employees have the contact information for Instant Checkmate at their desks so they can lead these angry consumers in the right direction. Not only do these calls disrupt the workplace but are getting to the point it's harassment. We have actually had a complaint filed with the BBB because we were mistaken for this business. Of course it was straightened out and removed from our file but the time spent defending our name and reputation was outrageous. Instant Checkmate's website makes it very hard to track down a phone number and contact information for consumer complaints. We spent a considerable amount of time locating their contact information.
Being associated with this business, by name only, is turning out to be a nightmare. I've never talked to so many angry and frustrated people in my life. Once we convince them we are not affiliated with Instant Checkmate, they are apologetic and frustrated that they can't find them. I feel for these people. I also am frustrated for the amount of time we spend deflecting their company complaints. Our productivity has decreased due to the phone calls received on a daily basis. Instant Checkmate is located in Arizona not Colorado! If they are as legitimate as they say they are, why don't they display their contact information in a more user friendly location on their website.

I ran a background check on someone I know. The website said it was compiling records from several sources such as marriage, divorce, criminal, social networks, etc. It cautions that the information may contain graphic criminal records, etc. then it charges a fee to join. After joining, it asks if you want to download reports in PDF format, if you say yes, then it will cost an additional $1.99. You finally get to download the reports after joining and paying their fees. The report I received did not include marriage and divorce records which I know are on file, bankruptcy records which are on file, or criminal records which are on file.
To get additional information is Premium Data and you guessed it, you will have to pay more for it. To me this is a SCAM they lead the user to believe they are getting much more information when the report is run, then after you pay the fee and download the report, they tell you the important information will cost more. They need to be upfront with web page that explains their fees and what is included prior to have the consumer wait while they say they are running the step by step reports which are time consuming. I joined tonight and am cancelling my membership tomorrow morning.

I conducted one search on a person whose background I know, and who I'm very familiar with. With the exception of the month and year of birth, none of the information given was accurate. All three records reported were incorrect, and the actual records I knew existed were not given. In other words, nothing that was promised was delivered. I bought snake oil. Embarrassed, I called and requested a refund immediately, and after 25 minutes of verbal judo with the customer service agent, I received one. Don't waste your money. This company does not (and CAN not, according to the customer service agent) deliver the service they are selling.

Advertising promises full and complete report if you join. Once you join you only get generic information available through other sites. You must pay extra if you want to see criminal, civil or license information. There is also an up charge to have the report in PDF type format for easy download. Otherwise you get an HTML document in a helter skelter format. It's a scam.

The information you can access on this website is very limited. If you are just looking for addresses, past and present, and phone numbers (including cell phone #s), I have found that it's pretty accurate. And it also includes social network information. All of this could be done without spending any money, however it is a time saver and I feel like I have gotten my money's worth. There isn't much as far as criminal background history, so I wouldn't suggest it for this. I paid the extra 20 bucks for info on one individual and it simply wasn't there at all. Google provided me with links for all of that. But I think it's unfair to say this site is a rip-off. You really can't expect too much for 14.95 and unlimited searches.

I did not receive any information for my trial offer or one month paid subscription. As a consumer I would not recommend using this source for information because nothing is offered that can't easily be found with a Google search. The only very positive thing I have to say about my experience is that I was able to cancel my subscription after paying the first month. My suggestion: Don't waste your time or money on this site.

Old man of 70+ hearing impaired. My call center man took me to site to help me spontaneously to have information about a known person. I got immediate response. Though I was charged $3; however I got phoned through someone and lady on other side cancelled my membership without a fuss. It shows class and culture and alert staff of Checkmate. I wanted to check out information on myself because of alleged identity theft, and on my family to see how accurate it is. Well, my mother has been dead for almost 33 years, but not here. My daughter supposedly has three arrest records, but they don't even match the part of the country she was living in. I also paid the premium on my nephew twice, because the first one should have been his dad, but no useful or accurate information on either one. The arrest records are totally ridiculous, i.e., wrong race, wrong part of the country, etc. There are no marriage or divorce records, and apparently none of us have any social life, at least not online. This is a total waste of money website. I spent about eighty dollars and got about ten cents worth of accurate information. Save your money. Just ask Professor Google.

I subscribed for a month (no one-time reports available) to get reports they claimed to be "detailed". But if I wanted something useful, I would have to upgrade. Oh, and if you want to download the report in a pdf... extra money please. You can get more information by googling the subject and looking on Facebook. Took me 5 minutes to find them on Facebook, where Instant Checkmate found NOTHING!!! I think it is a scam company.

I have been a subscriber with Instant Checkmate twice now. When I signed back up the other day I was able to get the actual DAY someone was born, now I can only get the month and the year. When I was a subscriber back in January I was able to get the actual day they were born all month; now I find I was only able to get it for the first day or two, and now no longer. Why?

I went to this site to look myself up, as I am interviewing for jobs currently, and I was curious to see what might be out there. This site practically gave me a heart attack when it warned that my search results contained "VERY GRAPHIC INFORMATION." Apparently, my date of birth is very graphic? I am extremely concerned that employers are seeing this absolutely FALSE, DECEPTIVE, AND MISLEADING STATEMENT about me, and that it is costing me opportunities. Putting this statement on its search box without discretion is completely defamatory. The statement is untrue and it is published with knowledge of its falsity and/or reckless disregard as to whether it is false. I don't understand how this company still exists. It operates in a manner that violates several consumer protection provisions of every state. They should not be allowed to do business.

There was no helpful information. Many of the individuals I searched for had a birth year of 2014, including myself!!!!!! I did not understand the purpose of showing the criminal records of every individual that had the same name as the original person I was searching for. It makes it look like the person's criminal history is a mile long, when really some of the offenses belong to another individual with the same name!!!!!!

I am rarely gullible enough to be caught out by charlatans, but I goofed this time. I needed, needed, needed a phone number for an old biz acquaintance. Instant Checkmate made it appear that an extensive search was being done with bar graphs that update over a long span of time. This added to the illusion. While the bar graphs were updating, I checked my computer network adapter throughput to see if my computer was being invaded. I don't think it was, but I don't trust this company. When the search was done, I was finally offered the report for a fee. Oh, big surprise! I was informed that the search revealed some graphic details about the individual I was looking for. This added legitimacy to me and I fell for this up selling ploy.
I am out $22.86 at this point, but there's more. In order to retrieve the report in PDF format another $1.99 is needed. All in all, I spent $24.86. You know what I got? Antique data, nothing current. I found less info here than at the county recorder's office. As I said, I really wanted a phone number. Here's the kicker. There's another fee required: about $11 more. This is the best bait and switch I have seen. This company is a fraud in my opinion. Go elsewhere!!!!!!! They are getting away with this fraud because of the disclaimer at the bottom of their page that states, "The information available on our website may not be 100% accurate, complete, or up to date, so do not use it as a substitute for your own due diligence..."

This is bogus. I tried looking up two people I know are convicted felons and there's nothing on here. So I looked up my name and several family members and nothing is accurate on them either. It's ridiculous. When people have been married for 30 yrs or more there's no records of that. Also it's a scam. You pay a lot to get information and you're lead to believe you will get everything for that price, then you have to pay more money and so I paid another twenty dollars for one person's criminal record through the premium and there was nothing when I know there is one. This is a scam. You can go to the county you live in and get a person's record for free. I want my money back.

Would be nice if it were for free since this is all public info anyway. If it is not public info that they get, how is that legal? I have tried to download complete background checks on four people in the last hour. Two of these people have criminal records, namely NM state DUI records, that are not listed on this website. I'm angry. Your website sucks! Get with it, please. I am paying $15 a month now for the next three months for really washed out information. I hate to say this..... but even the record on myself is incomplete.

I was suckered in with their flashy website and against my better judgment paid for a 1 month membership. Site said I would get a detailed report, including criminal, but gave out entirely wrong info on my girlfriend. I immediately called to cancel and was told I would get 50% back. I used the site and paid for a specific service that was not rendered to me. I should be entitled to a FULL refund not a partial one. So, I used a search engine to find out if it was a scam and low and behold, not only are they not BBB accredited but there are hundreds on top of hundreds of consumers who have complained about being scammed, promised a partial refund and never receiving it.
Good luck getting your money back, let alone getting any accurate information on yourself! Always check for the rip-off report before handing over your hard earned money to people like this! Legal action is going to be taken and I'm calling my financial institution as soon as I post this. Lesson learned, even if it seems legit always (ALWAYS) check to make sure!

This is a scam! I purchased a membership and was informed that I could run unlimited background checks for one month. I ran reports on myself, my siblings, and a friend. The only information I was provided with was all of our names, addresses, and birthdates. Then an advertisement notified me that I could contain all the additional information, which I should have already received, for an additional $19.99 per person. I fell for that scam and paid the $19.99 for one person. The only additional I received was the SEV on his home. I called to complain and request a refund less than 1 hour after paying for my membership. After a half hour of haggling with the representative, he finally agreed to cancel my account, issue me a refund of the $22.86, and send me email confirmations of both.
This turned out to be just a lie, as I did not receive my refund, nor did I receive an email confirmation that my account was closed, nor did I receive an email confirmation that I would receive a refund. The representative lied to me. The representative also told me that under no circumstances would I ever receive a refund of the $19.99 that I paid to receive additional information that I received on that individual, even though Instant Checkmate did NOT provide me with the information they promised to provide me. This is a SCAM!!!

I found my name and I am very pissed right now!! You have totally WRONG info. associated with me!!! You don't even have my middle name OR initial right!! I am actively seeking employment and even though it states your site can't be used for determining employment, how do you really expect people to abide by that!?!?!?! I might very well be a victim of identity theft and of course, your site is just to make money! There is no recourse actions on your site if you feel the info. about yourself is wrong or not even you!! And it's VERY WRONG how you repeatedly spray WARNING-VERY GRAPHIC all over the damn place!!! Of course people want to see that... then you pay $ only to find out your VERY GRAPHIC report includes a damn speeding ticket!?!?!?!

Thank you, but your report is not free nor does it include any arrest records, which is why I searched for background check. I've paid your for absolutely nothing and now what am I to do about getting my report? Possibly paying another company.

The accuracy is not the greatest, but that was expected. My real issue comes with downloading the PDF files. It's hit and miss. Some will download and some won't. This is a recent issue and I've submitted a fix request already. Aside from that, the site is usable and operable.

I have looked up people that I know have arrest records but nothing shows up on them. And some have case codes and nothing saying what the arrest was for so I know nothing more than when I started.

On 4/15/2014 at about 9:00 pm central, I purchased a one month's access for background checks through Instant Checkmate. Their ad was misleading as it indicated that it would be up to date and accurate information. I paid my fee of $22.86 and was prompted to input the name of the person I was searching. After it found information it prompted me to pay $1.99 for a PDF copy. After doing so, I got information that was more than 3 years out of date. The person I was checking has been living in Mississippi for the past 3 years and Instant Checkmate indicated that she was in Michigan.
The web site then prompted me to upgrade to Premium for an additional $19.99 for more detailed information, so I did and only got names of possible relatives. I contacted the company and spoke to customer service, and explained that I had paid for a service and not received any information. I got the run around and double talk about information that is public record. While on the phone I told the customer service agent that I told her that I was going to do a search of myself. I input my information and a different Michael ** came up. What is strange about this is in the information it ask for your city. The city of the Michael ** that came up wasn't even in Gulfport, Mississippi. Customer service agreed to refund my first fee of $22.86 within the next week to 10 days. I told them that I wasn't happy that I wouldn't get a full refund as their service wasn't provided.

I was curious to see what may be "out there" regarding my personal history. I signed up for Instant Checkmate and found that my own information was accurate with some minor inaccuracies, i.e., very old addresses, old places of employment, etc. I called and cancelled my 5-day free trial within two days of signing up. I was told over the phone that I was all set; my account was cancelled. After that, I did not think about Instant checkmate again until today.
I was looking through my bank account statement and found that Instant Checkmate never cancelled my account and had billed me for 4 months at $29.95. I called and explained that I cancelled the account months ago. Instant Checkmate disagreed and would not refund my money even after I brought up my phone records and provided them with the exact date and time of the call. The day I cancelled, we were on the phone for 4:00 minutes, however Instant Checkmate said there is no way to know what that call was about and they did not have any record of my cancellation. Do not use Instant Checkmate. It is a complete scam. And if you cancel, ensure you get a confirmation number/proof that you cancelled... Buyer beware!

Your company made an entire $11.43 from a person on SSD! Every penny counts to me! Word of mouth about you will get around. I have read much already about people's experiences with you. NOT good at all. I wish I read them BEFORE I joined for a month. How nice of your supervisor Ashley to credit me back half of my money after being a member for an entire 10 mins. then cancelling.

The information is not up to date. It is at least three years ago. I checked my own information and I moved over three years ago and you do not show my current information. I did like how you showed satellite location with current time. Did not like how I kept having to pay more & more to keep getting information.

Saw the article on AOL so I thought it was worth looking into. I wanted to see what others would see if they looked up my name. Was it correct and how much is out there. I clicked into the website. It advertised that you see everything when you do a background check. First request was a $22.95 monthly fee. Fair enough to see what is there. I paid and put my info. in to get the report which says it has name, birthdate, licenses, location, tickets/arrests, etc.
Clicked to download the report and it said it would charge $1.99 to download report and no more fees would be asked. The report came through with my name and birthdate. If I wanted to see anything else I would have to pay another $19.99 for the "Premiere Membership". I canceled the service within 5 min. of opening the account (because it has to go on an auto pay) but they couldn't return any money. What a waste of time and money. They should spell out what you get for what price so you can decide whether it's worth it.

It would be helpful if the reports included a phone number with them at the top under the address instead of having to click on the social tab to see if one is available! Sometimes y'all won't have a phone number and I can go on whitepages.com and find one myself. If I can go to other sites and get the info (free sites and that), then what's the point of paying y'all? Also, I do think it's a huge rip off to click on a premium report and it gives you no further useful information on someone and you're still charged for it. That is a total rip-off. Other than that the site is pretty helpful.

I joined this and when I clicked on my husband's name in a list, it brought up 2 arrest records. He has never been arrested or been in trouble with the police, and never lived in the state where these arrests supposedly took place reports. Since we have been together since before these arrests took place, I think I would know if my husband was at the other end of the country! It is grossly inaccurate and could cause extreme upset in people's lives. Luckily, I know for a fact these reports are either fabricated, or relate to someone else with the same name, born the same day. Surely it cannot be legal to attach this sort of thing to a person's name without absolute proof they are genuine and pertain to that particular person. Shocking!

I must admit. My very first time I used this service, my experience was not a good one. However, after having called customer service someone called me immediately to see what, if anything they could do to help me. That was over a month ago and I have been using the service daily. While I was able to find some information, it was not all that I thought I would be allowed to access. You have to pay more money for more information. I thought I would be able to get address, phone numbers, e-mail address, employment, marriage, divorce, and death records. If you all really had an "unlimited search" site, there would not be another charge for additional data. I was able to find a small portion of the information I was seeking.

This site gave me absolutely no more information than what I had already found for FREE! How do I cancel my subscription!? This site is a rip-off! Can't locate marriage records. Can't locate jail reports that are factual. Can't locate divorce records. Can't locate any more information than I could on any other site for FREE!!!
