I spent at least 20 minutes this morning while this company did a search for someone, and when all the information was gathered, the screen prompted me to enter my credit card information after saying I was approved for a free trial membership. After I entered my name, email and credit card info, I got a message to call them, as they were unable to process my information. I called and was told to start over and use Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer! What? Are they kidding me? I should spend another 20 minutes, plus the time to download Google Chrome, to get their service? I've registered with them last year, and had no trouble, now they don't like me to use I.E. And if it doesn't work with their website, why is it that I was able to get all the way up to the credit card part, which is the very last step, before it rejected Internet Explorer?
The girl on the phone was unable to tell me why exactly Internet Explorer worked up to the last step and then required Google Chrome. Unbelievable! They just may not realize it, but the whole world doesn't use Google Chrome. Some of us don't have fancy tablets, or apps, we use Internet Explorer. Save yourself a LOT of aggravation and go to another website for a background check. I did and got in with no hassle or problems.

I found that the information I was seeking was old and inaccurate. Also, there's no way to tell what the chronological order of the addresses are.

I just happened to stop by to check up on some new personal checks, but while here I check over several other person checks and cleaned out my Desktop. I found out a dear friend passed. Now checking to figure out where his wife and daughter moved to, and their correct phone numbers-- I know the house number has been shut off. Not sure if Marie moved out yet? Don't find anymore info on this than you can from Facebook. Want anything extra, that's $20.00 per person! My mistake, I signed up for six months thinking this was going to be an awesome site, didn't even bother with the free trial... live and learn.

Looks like most of the reviews about the service are that it is a very poor service and you continually make excuses that some municipalities don't reveal the information. Also your marketing is very deceptive. You don't show the COST of your program until after running through several pages of supposed "checking." The price should be revealed UP-FRONT and if you want to give a "free trial" then do so. Don't offer a $1 trial just to trick someone to reveal their cc number so you can continually bill them until they manage to get the billing STOPPED. I have heard about companies who fail to cancel upon request and they are scammers.

Did not deliver as promised. Did not divulge extra fees. All I got was phone & address for the advertised fee. All other records were at the discretion of the state and county people live in, which would not be in the archives of instant checkmate-- no mention of that either. Basically a rip off.

This site is a joke. When I type in my husband's name, it gives me his brother's information. I can't find my husband's information anywhere on this site except as an alias for his brother. My husband's daughter has her uncle as her father. What??? Also, for the money I paid I certainly thought there would be more information available. I really expected more information for my money. I signed up for one particular person that doesn't even come up on this site. I thought since I had a month to use the site, I would just do some checking on family members for fun. The information provided is laughable.

It seems if you’re in the business of background checks you would have more information about your reports. Or at least when a premium is paid you get the information together that you pride yourself upon. I pulled several people after my first disappointment including myself. I have had marriages, divorces, state licences, assets, conflicts including police and none show. I guess it's good for my personal information but supposedly you’re doing obtainable public knowledge.
I feel betrayed by your advertising to supposedly give up to date information. I wished information which now I read loud thru your ads. We advertise, we get this information but we essentially just wish the information how you will pay us. Poor Company... Poor Background Check... I cannot recommend you to anyone but the local consumer protection agency and State Attorney General for false advertising. YOU ARE A SCAM with little information to provide.

I had written a review where I was dissatisfied with the results I had received using their service and although I still did not get better results, they did take care of the problem and I am very happy with the customer service.

I have never had any luck finding useful information using Instant Checkmate. They say that if you pay, the information will be sent to you; but it is a waste of money. The information on people I have inquired about is either out of date or incorrect. The idea is a good one, but the reality in my experience is that I have not received useful information.

Joined to try and get some info on new friend. Everything listed is very public info. Did myself too. Stuff listed nothing to do with me, ex-husband's family I never even knew. I called the 800 # and the guy helped me with a question/complaint and then immediately asked me if I would like him to cancel my membership. Must get a lot of complaints!!! TOTALLY __SSED!

Some of the reports are wrong and should be upgraded. There could have been a little more information shown about people, but other than that I like this website!

I have checked all my family members as well as myself and husband. Information for each person checked was not accurate. There was at least one thing not accurate on each member. You need to really check your sources out better. I am glad I only did the 5 day trial because if I had done the monthly I would have been extremely angry!!!!

It's a good service but the filters for local seem to be erratic. Sometimes I get the state and sometimes I get the US locals of every close name I list.

I was shocked that after paying for my access the name I was searching had very little information, so I checked a couple of familiar names and they had even less. I called customer service to cancel my account and was told to be sure to watch my email to make sure it was cancelled and because I had "utilized" my account they wouldn't refund any money to me. I sign up for Instant Checkmate after reading I could access so much information about someone. Paid for a recurring monthly fee of $22+ and promptly cancelled my account after looking up four people, myself and 3 other family members. All the information was inaccurate, every last one. My name wasn't even spelled correctly which was amusing considering they supposedly get this information from public records. They did cancel my account but no refund because they don't guarantee the accuracy of any of the information. So, think twice about paying for faulty information that will do you no good.

Was doing a search on myself when opting-out, it's initial results say "1 result with possible criminal record". When I clicked for details, it then says "Arrest Record - Search Complete". One cannot look farther without creating an account to see if there really is any records, however their site gives the impression that there are arrest/criminal records for me. This is 100% false and thus is defamatory, I cannot even begin to imagine how this may be affecting me or my family since one can search a person's family members at the same time. When I tried to contact them about this, they said "if it says there is a criminal record then there is one".

I saw an ad for this site online that said they could provide criminal information about someone. So ran that name and found that this site had no information on the person. But, Instant Checkmate did a teaser ad that said that they could provide very pertinent info on the name I was searching, for more money. It seemed that that was a come on, but I wanted to find out what they had on the name. It turned out that they had nothing. I paid for this using my banking information. The account is a little used account, and not one I pay attention to. Big mistake.
Today I learned that they have been debiting that account for the past 6 months. And, judging by the number of negative complaints on this (Consumer Affairs) site, they have been doing this to thousands of people for a long time. A contract requires that both parties understand the terms and agree to it. I have never understood that they planned to steal money from me on an on-going basis. I am experienced with Pro Se lawsuits and will give them 10 days to return all of my money, before proceeding down that avenue.

I was needing information on a certain someone and Instantcheckmate.com popped up. I should have googled the reviews before, but in my state of wonder I opened the link, read and was hopefully impressed by what it offered. So I thought WTHeck, paid for 1 month unlimited and started searching. Did not find what I wanted but found what I had already knew. Then I thought DARN, I have to test this site and did. I entered my own name, instantcheckmate.com failed to provide my search (24bucks worth) on info, I know it out there on me. Checkmate has a reasonable amount of information available. You need to be aware that ALL information about an individual MAY not be shown due to varying state laws, but this site is certainly better than most.

I subscribed thinking I would have access to all information but was very disappointed when I found out I had to pay an additional amount for "premium" service. Even if you want to track a phone number, you have to pay extra. I thought it would help me in my genealogy research, however, most information is already available to me through Ancestry.com and internet searches. Some people's records I searched didn't even provide results and I know the person and some even have criminal records. Just another scam to get your money. I'll be unsubscribing.

I was expecting all marriages and divorces including names and dates. In 99% of my searches, I got no marriages and divorces although I knew the people searched. I even searched myself. I could get more information on Whitepages.com and Mugshots.com.

Honestly this was a complete waste of money. It didn't tell me anything that I didn't know from I got from FREE Google search. You were not able to pull up any of my criminal info whatsoever. I have about 35 criminal events across the US. I even looked up friends that I know that are in prison - didn't even show up on your paid site. It’s funny I found their info on Google as well. I would not recommend it to anyone. I would strongly tell them not to use your website. I’m going to dispute this charge with my credit card company! Thanks a lot.

Signed up for a trial membership and in fact found some interesting info for genealogy research I was doing. However, I decided I would not get money's worth for what I wanted so I called and cancelled. However, within 3 days of signing up, I suddenly started getting dozens of junk emails daily on my account that had previously never gotten spammed. When I called Instant Checkmate to complain, they just said, "If you read the privacy statement, you would have seen that we can share your info with any of our partners". In other words, buyer beware! Those damned Privacy Statements should simply be re-named "Lack of Privacy Statements". Guess they figure if they can't make money through subscriptions, they'll sell your info to the highest bidder.

I was contacted by Quality Assurance on 7/15/14 from Instant Checkmate. We reviewed my reasons for being upset and they issued a full refund of all charges. I am satisfied with their quick response and taking care of the matter. I am still not happy with the results of the check. I will probably not use this type of service again.

I ran a background check on my daughter to find out if a legal problem was showing up in a check because she was trying to get employment with a local company. We were told this should not show up as she had went through a program to have it stricken from her record. What I received from Instant Checkmate for 22.86 was her name and address and supposed family members. It showed that she lived in Tennessee and she had no history of employment or legal problems. It also did not show her correct addresses. The information looked like something you would pull off of Whitepages.com. I was very displeased as this information was useless.
I got another charge today for 22.86. I called the company and was informed that this is a monthly charge. I explained that I signed up for a one time search. They said it is in the Terms of Use. Obviously hitting the button stating you want one time use is really stating you want this company to continue to bill you until you figure it out. I told them that the information was all incorrect and that it was a crap report. I said I basically had paid at this point over $45 for useless information. After speaking to a "supervisor" they offered to give me a 50% discount on the charge from today. I will never use this service again and I will be sure to make sure that I share my story on every possible social media and computer site that reviews companies.

Advertised a price of $22.86 for a month but then later asked for $1.99 for the PDF file and then I couldn't believe it when I was ask to pay another $19.99 for PREMIUM report that has all. That was never stated up front. Reports states there are three sex offenders in my area when a Google search shows nineteen. Listed two incorrect previous addresses but didn't included four previous addresses. Only identified my former wife but the wrong name. As for relatives it didn't list not my parents, five siblings, two children etc. I was married and divorced and those didn't show which are easily found in other public record searches. It didn't show my arrest or criminal record stating "No likely matches." If I Google my name it comes up.
The report stated that missing information may be due to not using the correct name. So I used all possible combinations of my name and got the exact same report. Even though I searched by my name and age in Wisconsin the report listed a person with a Facebook account with same name from Los Angeles. I don't have a Facebook account. Listed Internet accounts I have never had and one listed me as a physician. But the report didn't show my LinkedIn account that I've had for a couple years. Listed two phone numbers for correct name and address but those were never my phone numbers. I have had the same land line number for over 25 years. The report went on to list six other names, addresses and phone numbers in other states that were not mine.
I have only lived in another state for 3 months out of 55 years. That address was not listed. Also September 24th is Libra not Virgo as the report states. Instantcheckmate absolutely falsified their product but if you read their disclaimer they pretty much admit the product won't do anything. I will be posting this and more with the BBB and all other reviews sites. I will be asking for my money back and report to:

I have been very satisfied with most of what I found except my ex-boyfriend, Tom **, age 52, wasn't updated with my mom's address. He moved out of ** in June of 2014. The information is not accurate for me or my relatives. I have submitted feedback on each page I visited. Also, there is no way I am going to pay more for premium access when the regular access is so inaccurate. The places I have lived is not correct. I have NEVER lived in Kentucky. I have no clue why this comes up on reports such as this. The relatives shown are my relatives but NONE of their names are accurate. Paul ** **? Come on! Two last names? Also, both names using Genny & Ethel ** are not accurate. For the Libra association, I am on the cusp of Scorpio & Libra. I NEVER associate myself with Libra. There was no way to change my sign. Also, the compatibility part does not show the dates for the other sign. I don't know what they are unless I go to the internet and look them up. This is a pain in the butt to do so, it is not worth it. I can go on but unless you are giving me better ability to see more records free, why should I do your work for you? The worst thing that showed up was a speeding ticket that my husband got that looked like he committed a more serious crime. I cancelled right away but they will not give you your money back. Information that was available was incorrect. Information was missing such as marriage records, criminal records (that I know for a fact should be included). It had names incorrect, marriages incorrect, (for ex... information showed a son married to his father). I conducted multiple searches of family and friends that I know the information, just to see how accurate the information is. I feel before you charge people for these records, they seriously need to be updated and accurate. This system and site is seriously flawed.

You cannot cancel your service without calling them. It also doesn't state that it is an automatic renewal, and there is no way to turn that off. I am now trying to cancel my membership because i dislike the fact that you have to jump through so many hoops just to cancel your service. Also their search engines aren't that good. The popup for "new order" survey came up even though I was unable to upgrade my current account. I submitted bug report but thought I would reiterate here as well. I was trying to upgrade to include reverse phone look up and kept receiving processing error. The customer service rep tried to assist and got same error message. She tried several methods and could not resolve the issue. She had me log out of instant checkmate and go onto reverse phone look-up website but the price there was $24 monthly versus an upfront fee of $24 for the year as an upgrade to my existing account. Can this be fixed??

I searched on myself and found incorrect phones attached to my current address. Also, an incorrect address was also listed. I also found no records of marriages and divorces which should have been listed when I searched for other people. Do NOT pay for this service - you can find the same information with a Google search on the person - and probably even more correct than what they give you. I did a search for someone and paid the ~$25ish dollars for the service. The information I got was disappointing because I knew that it was not all inclusive and then when I tried to dig a little deeper - of course, you have to pay more. So I did a search on myself and the information was not even correct. They don't even have a way for you to correct information that you know is incorrect.
My suggestion is just use Google - your results are free and while it might take a few minutes to an hour of research, the information is more conclusive and surely more accurate. And about all the disclaimers in the sign up process...all I can say is "buyer beware" as they wouldn't have all that in the sign up process if they haven't had a thousand complaints. Next time I will absolutely look up reviews on a site like this before purchasing anything. And another thing you might want to know, the one month sign up is NOT just for one month, it is a recurring charge until you cancel but I didn't see that in the sign up AT ALL!

Now I find out after using Instant Checkmate that the state of Iowa does not release marriage and divorce records for a service such as Instant Checkmate to include in their information searches. Of course, the agreement I accepted to use the service acknowledged that I may not get the information I am searching for and the fee is therefore non-refundable. Ok, I agreed. However, if an ENTIRE STATE cannot have a particular category of information included, then the algorithm should let the user know when they select that state. $25 down the drain. Rip off.

Today I signed up and paid for the one month unlimited account subscription, even though I only needed to look up my parent, who I know very well. But I figured that I would pay the initial price and that I would be good to go with loads of information. After I waited for the system to "gather information" for a few minutes, the report was ready. My first thought after seeing the report was, "did I type in the wrong name?" The information was very limited and incorrect. After paying the initial 20 some dollars just so I could view this "report" I was given the option to upgrade to a "premium" view. I figured that I already came this far, why not stick $19 more into it.
After spending $40 + for barely any information, mind you the information I did find was not even accurate. After sitting on this disappointment for a few hours I decided to hop online and see what others had to say about Instant Checkmate. After reading the other disappointing reviews I decided to call their customer service and request that my money be refunded. After all, before I purchased the plan, I recall seeing some sort of guarantee for a positive experience. I explained my situation to the man I spoke with. He agreed to refund half of the price of the premium view, $10. After I plead my case a little more, I was put on hold while the man went to talk to the supervisor. He then came back to tell me that for "courtesy reasons" I could be refunded the whole premium charge, $19. Still unhappy, he then told me that there were various disclaimers throughout the sign up process that stated the information will possible be inaccurate.
I understand that any website cannot guarantee everything they post to be 100% accurate. With that being said, I didn't think that after paying $40+ I would find my dad's old phone number and that he had a hunting and fishing license. Please beware. I thought that the price would reflect the quality of the search, I was wrong. Moral of the story, I'm out $20 for one background check that simply stated the obvious.

I am sorry to say that I was extremely disappointed with this product. Most of the information in my personal report is useless or incorrect. It listed my parents' fax number as my land line phone number, my father as my spouse (reported in 2012) and almost all of my social media information from another person with my name. The vast majority of my social media information it just missed. How is that possible in the age of Google? As it happens, I connected with the other person with my same name on Facebook before, so I know who she is. She has never even lived in the same time zone as me and we have no relatives that we know of. There aren't even any driving or traffic violation records which the Secretary of State's website can provide me free of charge.
As for other contact information, I can find more detailed reports on instant sites and they don't charge a fee. The product and the information provided is not only not as advertised but vastly inferior/incomplete. And an extra $1.99 for a PDF file?! This is a scam. I will report it as such on every ripoff report and consumer review website I can find if I am not refunded. I sent an email to their Customer Service Department to request an immediate refund within minutes of purchasing it (that's how long it took me wait for the report to upload because to read my almost blank file took about 10 seconds). I will update this website when and if I hear back from them. I always do an extensive search on the internet before I purchase anything online. Why didn't I this time?!

I was a bit unkind in my initial review and wish to rewrite it now! The recent reverse phone program you have has served me well. Though not all of the numbers that I've searched came up with a usable response, I realized (upon receiving more numbers with which to examine) that it was the service of the user that made it impossible for you to facilitate me with a response. I hope that makes sense?
As for your People Search feature, it has served me well and I do not have any complaint as far as that research tool is concerned! In fact, I was amazed at all of the information that I was able to obtain. I am, at this time, considering the purchase of the premium service you offer, in order to get a more in-depth view into the people with whom I wish to know more about.
In this day and age, I feel it is important to know just who you might be allowing into your life, or whom you had relations with in the past. This tool could actually save someone's life. Let's say you have decided to go out on a date with a man. Well, you could use the tool provided here and (perhaps) learn that person has a "past" it just might save you from an unhappy encounter! I, also, wish to add that your customer service is wonderful! I had to call a few times because I had placed the wrong service and they were not only helpful but very kind to both my needs and to me personally. Thank you for your time and attention!

Did a reverse search on a phone number that you were not able to find the person who the number belongs to, which means that I still don't know if the number I have really is for the person I've been told it belongs to. Also when I search this same person's name, you say you find 3 such people in Indiana, then not one of them has an Indiana address in your reports.

I joined Instant Checkmate with a 1-month membership paying 24.86. I started searching my own details and I received no information that is relevant. Most of the information was incorrect. I tried the Premium Search at 19.99 PER CLICK and received useless information. My locations were wrong, my traffic violations were not provided, my related persons were incorrect, my business-related information was incorrect. I have been charged incorrectly, unethically and illegally. I called up to cancel just a half-hour of useless search and they are refusing to return my membership.
On the website they state that customer service is important. Another lie. I am taking Instant Checkmate to Small Claims Court and I would advise anyone who has been scammed thus to do the same. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SCAM COMPANY. You can get more information about a person from a google search or through Public Records. I am contemplating legal action against this business.

I was searching "how to remove my information from the background databases" and ran across this Instant Checkmate and they have my information mixed up with someone else's. They have both mine and her information all as me. I am not related to any of these people and have never been to Virginia. I know about this lady Diane ** from Virginia Beach Virginia because she once lived in Las Vegas NV and so did I. And she wrote bad checks to several grocery stores and Equifax put this information on my TRW, but that was corrected in 1998. Her first name is the same as my middle name only spelled wrong and her last name is the same as my maiden name so how do they figure she is me????

I paid for the "private" record and notice that although the information said up to date as of a few hours before I accessed it, some of the information was not very outdated. Then I paid for the even more "private" record and it still was not current. I am extremely disappointed that I was cheated out of almost $45 and gained access to information that was basic and public knowledge. No, I would not recommend this site to anyone because I believe it is a rip-off. If I could get a refund I would do so ASAP!!!!

Absolute scam! When I realized how much they wanted to perform a background check I attempted to back out. A new screen appeared stating that you could receive one check for $1. A week later, I had recurring charges for $30 appearing on my account. When I called to demand my money back, they attempted to convince me that was receiving their amazing services. They then tried to placate me by saying they would give me 50% of my money back. After a battle and being put on hold time after time to speak to a supervisor, they reluctantly agreed to refund my money. Consumer beware!!! This is one of those companies that will try and scam you at every turn.

I have checked the records of people I know have been arrested for crimes and spent time in prison, yet your service shows no record of them having even been arrested. I have run into this several times. One person I've checked on, Carl **, is a family member that is a convicted felon. You show no records for this. This service is really poor quality. It helps with some things but mostly the records are incomplete. Another person is Jonathan **, he's gone to jail several times, you show no record of it. Over and over again I find this and I feel you shouldn't charge for a service you don't provide.

Instant Checkmate responded in an outstanding manner. After calling several times, they did finally reach me and I had a very satisfactory discussion with a most personable, pleasant and knowledgeable agent. Within 24 hours, the problem had been fixed to my complete satisfaction. I have regularly used their website since then and the issue has not appeared even once. I wish that all companies would respond as well and as quickly as Instant Checkmate did.

Let's take my information for instance, Sherry **. You have MY birth date incorrect. You have July 15. It's July 7th. You say that you offer information regarding marriages/divorces/licenses, etc. for the price I paid; however, you DO NOT. You want MORE MONEY for that information. Regarding my husband, David **, you have a relative listed, Harold ** that does not exist. Actually, you have that relative listed on EVERY family members account. There is NO Harold ** in our ** family. You have incorrect phone numbers listed for me various times. I am exceedingly DISsatisfied with this service. Sure I can find a person. Turns out to be a very expensive telephone book. OH wait, I tried to upgrade to get the telephone reverse search. Couldn't do it. But you systematically tap my account for $24.95 a month and I wanted to try the telephone upgrade but couldn't. My next bitch is you really don't have anything related to or associated with Arrests, criminal activity so I'm having a difficult time justifying $300 a year for Name, Address, City, State and zip. Charged a fee for information. I expected this. What I did not expect was to be strung along with additional fees for every page I opened. There was the initial sign up fee, with a statement about upfront costs and no hidden fees. Next page a one time $1.99 administration fee, ok no big deal, next page; If you want anything more than name and address it's another $19.99. What a scam. Very difficult to get to correct site, kept being bounced around to "affiliated" sites that were similar, but YOU were what I wanted. Information is good when I get it, just not as user friendly as I would wish.

Instant Checkmate has really disappointed me and falls very short of its marketing and claims. The information received from Checkmate is not anything in addition to what can be garnished from Google search. You also claim there will be no additional fees yet to get more information you need to pay extra. One month is all I paid and that is all I will pay. Good riddance.

I've never found one marriage detail... all state never married, etc. I know many have been, and a lot of other details about searches are incorrect, or simply missing. Very important info. This is not a good site for full info.

No one has seen or heard from my brother since last July 2013. It's very important that I find him. Our Dad is 87 years old and his health is failing. I am the only person to make all of the decisions about his health. I desperately need my brother. It's too much for me to handle alone. Bobby is his name. He is a veteran. He is in a state of depression, and he is an alcoholic on top of he has had triple heart by-pass surgery. I'm very worried about him. I found his name, some of our distant relatives, that's about it. I feel you used bait and catch on me. The 1st few times I searched on your site, it gave me people home and cell phone numbers and then later when I search the same names and new names, it keeps saying that information is being updated and will never show me any numbers again, it does keep asking me if I want a more detailed information to upgrade for more money, I would do that but now I don't trust I will see anything more.

It seems that everything that is on your background check is stuff I've already found on the people. I feel that this is a consolidation of public records is all. Also, on the premium reports that cost extra. The only thing I've ever gotten extra was an email... which I already found elsewhere. I'm thinking of closing my account.

I paid approximately $25 to find out what public records were available for myself. They advertised no hidden fees. After I paid by credit card they sent my information. It included my name, address, age but no phone number. If I wanted additional information including vital statistics, marriage or divorce records, criminal records and all other information they advertised I would receive for the charges, they wanted an additional $20. So for $25, I found out my name, address and age. THIS SITE IS OBVIOUSLY A SCAM.

I am curious as to why I cannot find someone who is absolutely a registered sex offender. Well actually... I found many different versions of them and the most confusing part is that all of the different pages of the same person, same age, but with their name spelled a little different.... Well why isn't all the info put together? How can anyone state 100% that it's the person they're looking for? And why don't any of the pages that I believe are the same person state anything about them being a registered sex offender?

I have been contacted by the company and a refund posted to my account. I would have felt better about the company and not written a negative review if I had not encountered such hard sell tactics and resistance to cancelling my account.
Is the service worth the price? That depends on the individual's needs and expectations. I would now say that Instant Checkmate is not a scam per se, but a company who's product and sales team need more development. Don't oversell what you can't deliver.

Based on the advertised information services of Instant Checkmate, Inc., I signed up for a one month subscription. After logging on to my new account, I made one trial information request on a know person with known documents on line. Not only was the information out of date and almost nonexistent, the information touted in their ads was available only for a “premium” fee (downloading a report also cost extra). I contacted customer service to cancel my account.
After an extended conversation - turned - argument, the “customer service” rep agreed to “cancel” my account. Persistent questioning revealed that “cancel” meant not automatically renew at the end of the one month subscription (which I had never agreed to in the first place). “Refund” was a completely different conversation that must be referred to a supervisor.
The offer, after the hold time required for the rep to consult with his supervisor, one half month refund (since I had already “used” the service for my one test case). This was not acceptable to me so after another drawn out conversation including Better Business Bureau standards and federal “cooling off rules” on internet services and contracts, it was back on hold for the “supervisor consultation”. This time the rep stated that my paypal account had already been credited with the subscription fee and the reoccurring fee had also been removed but the supervisor would like to question me. Twice I was put on hold for 6min+ with no supervisor picking up - at which point I hung up.
The rep lied. My paypal account was not credited nor was the reoccurring charge dropped.
Bottom line: This is not a reputable company. These people are first and foremost professional scam artists. If you have had experience with high pressure time share selling programs, have a lawyer standing beside you to parse word definitions, and do not care that you can Google for free any of the information Instant Checkmate, Inc. provides -sign up. Just don’t say you haven’t been warned.

They charge you an upfront monthly fee and tell you that you'll get all this information on people and then once you sign up after thinking it’s a fair deal, they start charging you for everything. First thing after signing up they charge you $1.99 to access .pdf files, then they show you parts of the person's file then ask for another $19.99 for the full report, which you thought was part of the almost $23 monthly fee you signed up for. It’s a scam to get as much money from you as they can by feeding the fear that your friends and family might be hiding something from their past!!

Today I received a call from Instant Checkmate Quality Assurance Representative and he addressed my initial complaint that I was unable to fully resolve with a regular service representative. Although it's unfortunate that I had to submit a poor review to Dept. of Consumer Affairs to get compensated appropriately, Instant Checkmate did make right on my initial complaint. The Quality Assurance Representative was polite and made me feel validated as he agreed to provide my FULL refund as I originally requested.
I do understand how their service works, however, I see numerous complaints regarding the same issues which tells me I am not the only one who perceived this service to be as great as they market. The best example I can come up with to explain my perception of the service is the same way Lysol markets killing 99% bacteria. You know it MAY NOT kill ALL of it, but you expected it to live up to its marketing claims. So when they use the disclaimer about not ALL information being accurate, you still expect decent results and not to be suckered into up-selling you for better results. So with all that said, I will not use this service again, but I appreciate the follow up and efforts to satisfy me with my full refund.

Of all the people that I looked up, even ones with known criminal records, not one showed up with arrest reports. I looked up people with known DUI, some that are currently in jail, some people that currently have been released from jail. NOT ONE SHOWED AN ARREST RECORD. The information on some was very inaccurate. Such as a birth year of 1985 with the age of 84. Obviously wrong. The only thing that was sort of accurate on some was the old addresses which I already knew and did not need that information. Thank goodness I only got the $1 trial. I will NOT recommend anyone to ever use this website.

I was contacted by a representative from Instant Checkmate regarding my unsatisfactory review. The email was prompt and professional. I was issued an explanation and apology for their services not meeting my expectations. I was also issued a complete refund. Although their services were not specifically what I anticipated, I must say that they are definitely a company with integrity that responds to customers that are dissatisfied with their service.

You pay the initial fee, but when you want additional information, there is an additional fee. I called immediately to cancel my account clearly stating I did not wish to continue the monthly (automatic) billing via PayPal. The customer service rep. was friendly and assured me my account was canceled and I would not be any more. Well, wouldn't you know, that didn't happen and I was billed. I called to cancel and was treated very rudely. I found an app. that delivers the very same service for background checks for a ONE time fee of $13. Sorry, I feel the advertising is deceptive and this service is not worth the money.

When I signed up, I expected to get everything for the price advertised. But you charge extra for everything important. If I want phone numbers, I have to pay extra and not just for the ones I need, but I have to sign up for the extra service for every look-up. I also paid for the Premier search but after 2 days, you try to charge me extra for every Premier search. I will not renew my account once the 6 months I have already paid for has expired.

I was reviewing the statement of a credit card that is rarely, if ever used and I saw a charge from Instant checkmate. I remember signing up for a "trial" membership, but did not remember signing up for a recurring membership. I was not at all impressed with the information provided. It did not locate records of people I knew had criminal records. When I called the company wanting to cancel, they were pleasant enough about it, but when I mentioned that I wanted backdated charges the person went into a legalize statement all about you signed up, tough for you.
I am sure that they can see I had not used the service in months. I checked my email and could find no record of the agreement being sent to me. I will take the blame for not being more diligent on my end, but if a company goes straight into the legalize part of an agreement, it must happen often. Not at all impressed with their product, nor their customer service.

They will open an account for anybody without verifying that the name on the credit card matches the info that was entered to open the account. They billed my credit card twice and I never opened account with these people. They offered 50% refund until I told them that I want all my money back and if not I would dispute all charges with my credit card company.

The reports are inaccurate and grossly outdated. I know of a person who had three divorces and none were listed. I had the account for three days and racked up charges that they do not tell you about. Unless you get the premium report and pay additional $19.95 per report, all you get is a name and address and not even a phone number. I can get as much from a phone book. I can get more information by doing a Google search than I could with Instant Checkmate. Do not waste your money on this service.

I was shocked by the fact that my brother-in-law has nothing on him, meaning everything has been whitewashed. I know about a DUI and hit-n-run offense in Cary, IL. I know he was once a drug dealer and tried to rob my home on Jun 1. Why no info? He and his wife showed up unannounced/uninvited and tried to break in while I was home. Only the threat of a temporary restraining order chased them away, which would have been filed with the Cary IL police dept.

I've used Instant Checkmate to find people and addresses to notify with regard to my husband's passing. I've also used it most recently to find or confirm addresses to send invitations to my son's wedding. I'm almost 70 and it was easy to use and fast. I would certainly recommend it.

Paid the $25 plus $1.99 for 1 month Subscription and pdf in order to find out what my criminal record info for a job I'm trying to get and after paying the fee, surprise, they didn't "find" Any info regarding criminal history. But then say some info cost extra like $19.99 for a premium background report that will show protected or hidden criminal history so paid the $19.99 for that and guess it was the same info in the standard background report. So thanks for stealing $47.00 from me by leading me to believe you had all the info I wanted only to my name some 29-YR OLD ADDRESSES and the names of my immediate family members. You're bunch of thieves.

Although some of the information is correct, much of the information is very outdated which is very discouraging if you want to locate a friend from the past. For example, I did a search on myself and the information was extremely old.

Signed up for their service and immediately received an up-sell that I needed to give them an additional $1.99 for a .PDF report. Really? Outrageous, but I did. Immediately couldn't log on to receive ANY information. Checked my banking online and noted they cleared my bank rather quickly with their fees. Now I am out of the money I paid them for no report and no .PDF. What a deal. Now have to wait until Monday morning to try to get my money back! What a WASTE!!!

I had the account for 10 minutes under the impression that I could actually look up records. Well, they mislead you on their website and claim that you can see arrest records and all of the IMPORTANT stuff. Once you actually spend money with them however, you can only see basic info that hopefully you already know about that person. I got on the phone with a representative to discuss a refund and the woman spoke SO fast she wouldn't even let me speak and kept interrupting so I couldn't even explain WHY I wanted the refund. She "chatted with her supervisor" who told her because I used the site for approximately 10 minutes, then I could only get a 50% refund of $11.50 back.
When she came back from putting me on hold and told me this, I tried to explain why I was even requesting the refund and found that the site was extremely misleading. She still continued to interrupt me and claimed "because I hadn't stated my reasons for the refund that's why I'm only getting 50% back." So I said, "Well that's because you're literally interrupting me every time I try to speak." Eventually I settled for the 50% refund because clearly the customer service is quite used to getting these same complaints day in and day out. Otherwise she wouldn't have perfected her speed talking/interrupting habits at this point. Don't waste your time or money with this site.

Searched several family members incl. husband and found inaccurate data and incomplete data: e.g., - alias listed incorrectly, DOB not complete; marriage licenses not avail, simple telephone numbers not listed, missing related persons. Believe your site is misleading in what type of information is reported - unless, that is, you upgrade the record for, of course, an additional fee and I suppose that isn't a onetime fee - very disappointed.

I signed up for an account with the impression I was paying $9.95 a month and could cancel at any time. They charged me $59.00 upfront (which apparently was in the fine print) and calculated that as $9.95 a mo. for 6 months. As SOME of the information was correct, MOST of it was outdated and inaccurate. I had better results on Google WITHOUT a ridiculous membership. I had my membership for less than an hour and determined it to be useless and unhelpful. I realize they collect public information and do not create it, however, I searched people whom I knew well and realized that most of their information was incorrect and inaccurate. Therefore, I found this site unreliable for any other personal search. Why would I PAY for a service that MIGHT be accurate instead of a service that IS accurate?
After requesting my refund, I was told they would only give me 50% back. I basically paid for a service I will NEVER use again. I disputed the 50% stating their site was misleading, unreliable, and I had only had the membership for approximately 30 minutes. They proceeded to decline my FULL refund and charge me the difference between the 1 month and 6 month service, which still doesn't make sense because I ended up paying $21.95 for the second package, only allowing me one month of service. This site is a joke and waste of money. I don't care what endorsements they have from the media.

The free site provides limited but useful information, but has some inaccuracies. To dig deeper, I had to pay for a 1 month subscription, which I cancelled as soon as I used the functionality. I did a search for my own information and it came up with what looked like my profile in that it had my city of residence, age, spouse, etc... It did, however, have an alias attached to my profile that I have never used. In many ways, I can see how this would be a useful program, but I also see how it could do harm through the posting of errant aliases.

The service is one that takes publicly available information and makes it easy for you to find. It can't find any info that's sealed or anything.

What a waste of money! I know for a fact of someone who has an extensive criminal record and yet it doesn't come up! Paid $59.16 upfront. Doesn't cover much other than light basics (name, date of birth, etc.). Paid $23.40 to get extra info (which is NOTHING MORE).

There is not tons of information, but I have found there to be enough to satisfy the need to know. It is a tool to be used to locate people, which it does just fine. It is not a gossip line, it is simply informational. I have located a couple of people who fell through the cracks, whether they wanted to be found or not... You can run, but you cannot hide. It's not one stop shopping... You will do further investigations with the information obtained. Maybe you will get the whole story, maybe you won't, but I found enough to quell the snooping gene.
