Information is outdated and incomplete in quite a few incidents, sure pray you are updating this system, it needs it.

From the very start and throughout my full experience with this Instant Checkmate Background Check website, it has been one misleading statement after another..... Starts out leading the reader to believe free information can be obtained only to find after entering the required data that there is a charge of over $22 to get any information, which is totally minimal at the very least. Then the site says additional information is ready to be unlocked, which allows the user who has just spent the $22 plus $1.99 to print the minimal information that is of no use, to think that the site has redeemed some validity..... but in very faint writing it explains that by clicking the "bright" green box the user is authorizing the website to charge another $20 to the user's credit card!!!! Well, no thank you!!!!
I don't care to play your game. I'm a patient, self-controlled soul yet I honestly feel that Instant Checkmate truly lied to me and robbed me of $24. I do not know anything more from this background check than I knew before I began. Had I been told the different levels I would have to pay for and the data that would be revealed on each level, I could have made a wise choice to use the site or not. However, this was not the case.... Buyer beware!!!!!!!

The company issued a full refund for both the $1 trial and the $29 monthly fee. I definitely appreciate their customer service and am raising my star rating; however, given the inaccuracy of the data I found, I can't go above a 2 star review.

Tried the $1 trial, missed the cancellation date, so continued trying it. It's missed picking up a known arrest record as well as other important information. The information it does provide is vague (what's the use of showing me a moving violation without a location, or associating those with just a name but no face or known address?). This site just isn't worth using. I've done background checks before and have found much more accurate alternatives.

I searched people with known arrest and info does not show up on your website. I thought it would be more informative. Marriage records are not shown, nothing really caught my attention. I even searched for info on my brother and I could not even narrow down a match on any information. Not satisfied. I even paid extra for the pdf files just in case I thought some info was worth saving. I feel like I made a mistake. I guess I expected more.

Paid the $22 for the service. Turned out no information was available. Phone numbers listed were bogus. Requested refund and was done by the "friendly" customer service however, they passed on my cc # information and was scammed out of over $3,000 by overseas charges before caught. It's a fraud website with NO information other than what's in the phone book just to get your credit card information. DO NOT USE.

I was told that I would get information about police records and other records. But I didn't receive any of the information except address and phone numbers. I have that. No records of help. I would have to give more money to see. It just seems like it sucks you in.

The information provided by this site is as basic as possible. I found the same information on free sites. The only difference is that you have to dig just a little deeper and search around more. This site is just a tease to get you started but want you to pay more money through upgrading just to get more public information... which I really think is unfair. I really would like my money refunded and see this site offer more for the money.

I have only found a few inquiries to come out to be correct. Almost all information is non-useful on here. Either the system need to be updated or you all should let people know that they may not get information on the person you are looking up. It doesn't show a marriage record for myself, my husband, my brother or my cousin, no criminal record for someone that I know has a long criminal record and it shows that every person in my friend's household is married to his brother. I wish I could get a refund. I researched people I knew personal information about first just to see how accurate this site is and it sucks.

By ordering this service, it was misleading in the fact that we had to pay to receive ANY information without paying first. Then once I paid for the service for information, it only gave basic information we already could view when surfing online WITHOUT PAYING. It ask for an additional $19.99 for premium information per report ... automatically storing credit card information to charge if you click you want the premium I should already be getting by becoming a member unlimited for the month... very deceitful advertisement. Not happy. I would of not paid a membership if I had know this to start with. I wanted additional info without additional charges... not cool.

I found information that was wrong/unclear & when I purchased a "premium" update for myself & husband it gave me almost zero added information and it also contained more WRONG information. None of the wrong information was anything under Criminal history, there was none & should be none. My Mother, (who is remarried & has not had my maiden name for over 20 years & also passed away), phone number was listed as my phone number along with my cell number instead of my landline as every other person I viewed?
It also had my husband's last childhood home/address, (where his parents still reside), with the correct street address but the WRONG STATE! North Carolina instead of the correct state, which is South Carolina. I don't think the same EXACT street address is in both States & he mysteriously lived in both & his parents still live in the latter?
I have stayed & visited his family's home for over 18 years, it is in South Carolina & your site listed right house & street but wrong State? I found nothing more or a correction in the inaccurate information by paying $40.00 extra, PREMIUM. Only to see what was listed for both of us...Nothing except the wrong State & my mother's phone number & my mobile number, instead of a landline.
Also, under a "Real Estate" for our home, (I have no idea, but it listed a home we own as listed at $88,000.00). The home cost around 6X more than that & the property more than twice that much. It just shows again incorrect facts?
Again, I am not mad because it said something embarrassing, hidden, it just had some information incorrect. Luckily nothing that was incorrect was anything upsetting as the scary Woman who comes on & basically tells you to brace yourself for the worse. So, I am dissatisfied because I paid the money for information that wasn't clear or correct & now questioning what, or if I could trust other information?
Lastly, I went on the site for one reason, because I read an article saying that "everyone was going on these sites" and "finding shocking information". I thought if all this "FREE" information was on there I should check it out? It talked about a man having an incident when he was 18 yrs old w/a fake ID come up as criminal charges & talked about traffic citations possibly coming up as criminal!
I went on this site, I Had to PAY & I NOW REALIZE THAT THE ARTICLE WAS A HIDDEN ADVERTISEMENT, meant to scare people with all the talk that I mentioned above & of course sexual PREDATORS (Every parents nightmare)! So, Congratulations I was fooled & you got my money. I hope it is not hard to cancel the monthly subscription. I did not write in all caps. I used Caps where I felt emphasis was needed? I became a member on 9\11\2013 and used it for a month after that they kept charging me not knowing that I had a joint account with my wife. After a month I tried to log in it said that my E-mail was incorrect so I wanted to reset my password and it does not sent me and e-mail to reset my password so I figure that my account has been canceled. After a year I see that they have been charging me 23.00 a month for a whole year and I cant even log in and they are still charging me, so I called them up and they said I did not cancel. That made me even madder and she says would you like to cancel? And I said yes because I cannot log in. And so she gives me a confirmation # and said she was going to send me a e-mail and yet nothing so that's why I'm making this public. This company so very wrong let alone false advertisement.

I initially signed up to run a background on myself, as I am a felon, so I wanted to know what others could really see in regards to business, etc... Well No Marriages/Divorces show up (I've been married for 8 years now), No Arrests Show up (I've been arrested 4 times, AND been to prison), AND the kicker is if I type in my maiden name instead, it shows one marriage: to my Dad! WTF?!?!?! This site is full of it. I could go on and on about how I looked up other people, but the story is still the same: BOGUS info, and I really should call to ask for a refund seeing as how it has been only a little more than 24 hours...

My credit card shows two charges for $22.86, one for $19.99 and another charge for $ 1.99 before the first month was expired: today is 08/19 and I signed on 7/21. I was doing a background check to avoid a fraud but Instant Checkmate robbed my account anyway. I will make Instant Checkmate to pay with a lot paperwork and time-consuming for the workers on the phone... Just wait.. I will have fun.

I was given an opportunity for a trial membership for $1 (5 days) with Instant Checkmate, after I chose not to sign up for the full price. I signed up and was given an address and phone number and who the phone carrier the number is connected with of the person I was running a check on. Then I was given the opportunity for 19.98 to find out more information about this person. I believe this is false advertising since they do NOT specify that there are going to be more charges to the account after the initial sign up. I immediately called and cancelled the membership, choosing not to continue. Really, I could have gotten the information that they offered in a phone book or Whitepages.com. This is a big rip off using false advertising! I kept a copy of what I was offered up front on the page that asks for billing information and there is not any reference to other charges.

While my initial reaction to the lack of quality and accuracy of this website has not changed, I need to clearly step forward to state that the company's response was immediate, considerate, appropriate, courteous and IMPRESSIVE. I received a written email response within 24 hours and a telephone call followup within 48 hours refunding my entire payment! Good for them!

www.instantcheckmate.com appears to be a wonderful, user-friendly, helpful, comprehensive site. They have one of the greatest web designs I have ever seen. But the information obtained, once you begin to start paying, is very close to worthless. And if you want more information, after paying $23.95 for "unlimited" for a month - you have to pay an additional $19.95 for EACH report. I actually looked myself up -- and I knew that information to be grossly inaccurate! So how could I depend on any of the other information. The people who own this site are probably uber-millionaires -- but they have no heart!

Information is 99% totally outdated. Even my info is over 10 years old. You cannot look by maiden name as on most other sites. This is so far very useless to me. We are looking for people for our 50th reunion ... have found no information that is useful yet. Better luck with the white pages. Being on a limited income it is much too expensive to waste money on this site. Too bad too....was hoping for better luck.

I thought I was signing up for a one month membership. I was doing a background check on two individuals thinking it would cost me the membership fee. My credit card now shows 4 charges for $19.99 and one charge for $22.86. Little did I know the search would cost me a total of $102.82! I was told that I clicked the "Add to premium" report but I thought the access was for free since I became a member for a month. This is a shady way to do business. I would like this to be a warning to others. Be careful with this company. When I called, they only offered to reverse two of the charges. I'm still out over $60.

I was quite satisfied with the service. I just could not understand how you paid $29.95 for the service, and then every time you wanted to go further with the report there was an additional charge of $9.95.

I am a disabled American on a fixed income. I tried this service to see what was being shared with insurance companies causing my rates to increase 300%. When I checked myself, ex-wife's, marriages, divorces, arrests, etc, etc.... they came up with 1 arrest (in reality I have been arrested at least 15 times in Texas only), no marriages or divorces (I have 2 in TX) and upon searching my ex-wife it shows she was arrested in 1999 while we were married WHICH NEVER HAPPENED! For over $50 they gave me ABSOLUTELY NO VALID INFO. This website totally misrepresent themselves and are supplying anyone that wants info on me or anyone else with all incorrect data. Do not use this service for any reason!!!!!!

Much of the information I found I had to pay additional for. This is one of the reasons I did want to pay full price. I always feel like I'm going to be suckered in to paying more money. Some place for the information was very confusing, where I didn't understand some of the questions. I tried the $1 trial offer to check out their product. Frankly, it is little more than a glorified phone book. I checked on a number of people whose background I knew and this company didn't have ANY of the important info... Mostly just address and birth date. Clearly this product cannot be relied upon to get solid and complete info. Also, they charged me again even though I canceled well before the trial ended. So I called and they said I would get a refund in a few days. Two weeks went by and I called again. At first, they said they had never charged me and when I told them I had proof they put me on hold and finally said I would be issued a refund. Ha!

I have to be fair and say they have a great looking website and a good advertising campaign. I ordered a service today and followed their instructions and filled out the information boxes. And here we go, folks... I want to navigate my report and could not find it. A flash screen came up and prompted me to PURCHASE the form in .pdf form. I didn't like it but did it anyway. Ok... Got the download and it contained none of the information that I know factually exists.
On the initial review of the site and the person who was named, it showed four criminal records under the correct addresses. Here is my complaint... I spent 23 and change for the initial information packet and another 3 bucks on a pdf format that they say I didn't need and got a report that not only didn't have the information I was looking for but information that was incorrect and inconclusive. Now I am well aware of the disclaimers I have read, but I was unaware of how far off this entire report was. BTW, the site will continue to bill you if the service is not terminated by the individual within 30 days. They were quick to give me half of my money back but I still give them a two out of ten.

In the past I have had problems with billing and so forth, but when I registered an actual complaint instead of just getting angry, I have never received any better cooperation or faster service from ANYWHERE I have ever done business. Now it may be true that who you are searching for can't always be found, but you can only return to me results that are available to you, and in most cases information is available, but I guess some people are better at hiding themselves than others. If that were not true even the FBI wouldn't have a "Most Wanted" list.

Originally I got a report and my payment was made, but when I attempted to login again, I was denied access. As late as two days ago I was charged again, even after you had cancelled the account. The initial charge was a special discounted price of $1.00 on 6/16/2014. The account was updated and charged $22.86 on 7/14/2014. I was charged $22.86 AGAIN on 8/12/2914, but still denied access. How many times do you normally require payment for the same purchase with no service available? Since I was informed more than once that the account had been cancelled when I attempted to login, I (apparently incorrectly) assumed no additional payments would be required for a nonexistent account.
I would also expect that if additional payments were made, access would be restored, but this has NOT been done. I expected more from this company than what amounts to fraud, but that is apparently your standard operating procedure, and if you make multiple charges to all your customers and return nothing for those charges, you'll probably make lots of money--perhaps enough to pay the legal fees-- before someone eventually sues or even initiates criminal charges. In the meantime, (and this is not a threat, merely providing you information) I intend to make your practices well known through multiple outlets.

I understood your ad to be once you paid you would have access to the public records that you offer. I have found this is not the case. I only get a couple records and in order to gain more, I must pay more, which is bull and false advertising as far as I am concerned. Also when I try to access marriage and divorce records, I'm told there are no records, at least in my state. A couple did pop up when I searched in a different state. I know for a fact there are records of people I searched in Nevada so why doesn't it show me? The records I'm able to access here, are records I could of found on my own, without paying your site.

My husband and I have a mobile repair business. He is out on the road all day and I field 40 to 50 calls a day to him. I try to make it easier by having addresses, maps, etc. ready when he checks in. I subscribe to several info gathering memberships because if one doesn't have a result another site might. If my search yields a result I am usually limited by my membership to do any further fact finding for free. However, I am often surprised that I can select various highlighted options within my Instant Checkmate search results and I am able to pull new and or additional information. Also, I find that if several other databases result in similar info, Instant Checkmate results are just a bit more detailed, making the results feel more valid.

The main issue with Instant Checkmate is that they significantly misrepresent what they will provide you - for a significant fee at every step. When you do a search, they will suggest that they will provide you a complete report - all for the low price of a subscription fee. What they actually provide is at most the name of the person you searched for (which you already knew), that person's address (which you could have gotten from a Google search), and pretty much - nothing else. Then if you request a more detailed report, you will have to pay about $20 per detailed report - even if it is for a related person possibly related to your additional search. Each additional report will cost you that $20. Even if that related person is yourself. But the additional report does not contain anything extra in my case for either the person I was searching on, or on myself. Essentially information I knew should be there was completely missing - divorce records, and legal records.
This is a significantly misrepresented product. The subscription apparently buys you nothing, and if you don't cancel it, it will be charged on a periodic basis to you. I have not found anything on this site that you could not get from a simple Google search. I will be contesting every charge on my account as fraud since it is a significantly misrepresented product. I highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs.

I decided to try Checkmate and agreed to the terms and conditions, signing up for one search to see what was known about me (not much as it turns out). I obviously did not read the fine print closely enough since I was charged a monthly charge on my credit card (including being charged twice in one month). I was charged over $130 for what should have been only $22.86. When I called to object, I was offered a $11 credit - laughable. They finally agreed to credit me one month which amounts to $110 for just one search! I know I should have been more careful in reading the terms but this is still deceptive practice since they count on the fact that people will rarely read all the terms and conditions in this internet age. Buyer beware!

This site promises all sorts of information. When you log on it: provides only partial information, this information is questionable at best and inaccurate at worst. And to access most of the information promised, you have to pay again! PLUS you pay for "one month" but they then tell you they are going to charge your credit card monthly! Totally dishonest. I called and asked for a refund. They refunded me half. This is a SCAM!

Knowing that I will be accessible to the personal information by becoming a member, then without telling me even the price of it, "Add to premium" report" so I thought the access is for free since I became a member for a month. Suddenly they charge 19.99 for one time, why they didn't tell me the price of that "premium report." The payment information I got it when I called customer service since I had no idea what was the charge... I got scared then I cancel the membership 30 minutes after I became a member... I feel that if membership was charged by my intention but the 19.99$ for premium report, I shouldn't be charged for it since it was trapped and very tricky way of doing online business... It was like online fraud that I felt without a doubt!!!

To Start: I was interested to see how accurate the service would be and tried their trial. The trial was advertised as $1 for 5 days. Upon checkout their service asked if I would like to receive my reports in PDF format, which sounded appealing. After choosing PDF format, the website immediately, WITHOUT notifying me, billed me another $1.99. I was a little annoyed at this, but after that, it got even worse.
The Service: So I played around with the service and discovered that my 5 day trial did not even give me full access to the website, which required the full $30/month membership. The information seemed lacking and gave information to "unlikely" matches that were obviously not the person(s) in whom I was interested.
The Final Nail in the Coffin: When I was finished sampling the website, I looked through my account options everywhere to find a way to cancel my membership to avoid being billed $30. I discovered a similar practice Comcast Cable is now infamous for: forcing a customer to call their offices simply to cancel their service. I signed up on the weekend and they were not open. Forgetting to cancel my service before the 5 day trial (admittedly my own fault), as soon as I received notice from Paypal that I had been charged automatically for $30, I called in to request a refund and cancellation. The person I spoke to talked to their supervisor, who only allowed me a 50% refund, even though the charge had just occurred. The representative even had the nerve to surmise that cancelling through the website was something that might be added later... yeah right.
Needless to say, I am extremely dissatisfied with these predatory tactics, reeling in curious people and trapping them into membership. If the service is good, these tactics are not necessary. I don't recommend this service.

I did an investigation on myself and got a report that was extremely inaccurate. The most information provided in the report was highly inaccurate. They seem to combine information found on other people with similar names. In addition, much of the information was omitted (or "not found"), which left me with a near blank report. I could not use the information and certainly to not want anyone else to use the information.

My found the search site wholly inadequate and lacking. After signing up and seeing how poor the search results were, I immediately phoned to cancel and request a refund. After a frustrating call the company I was offered a partial refund. Only after I posted on several websites about the company and contact my bank did the company agree to provide a complete refund. Too bad it had to come to that as the smart move would have been to provide a complete refund up front and save the negative reviews. Over 4,000 people viewed my review of the company. I can't say the service is any good but the company did, in the end, step up a give me a full refund.

I checked my name as my identity has been stolen, and I have been a victim of a hate crime and character assassination by a former neighbor who is a government employee residing in Oak Lawn, IL. Thought this was a top rated site. Nowhere in the upfront information were additional fees listed. Only after signing up was it discovered that to obtain additional information would require additional charges and there were fees for downloading pdf format. The information provided on the basic search provided information that is easily found by internet searches. No refunds so it was $$ down the drain.

However, the contact phone numbers are only correct/current in about 1 out of every 6. Not so good. This service is misrepresented in its advertising. The service is a rip off. It doesn't give you what it promises unless you pay extra for a detailed report which I refuse to do. The reports are inaccurate and often mixes people of the same name in different geographical locations on the same basic report. I would not recommend this service to anyone I know. I am cancelling my membership.

Last March of 2013, I found Instant Checkmate Online and signed up for full usage of their site for a certain period of time - I believe it was 1 month. I paid with my credit card and found the site to be useless, when searching for specific people and was unable to find anything significant. So I just did a print out of all local pedophiles as I have a young child. And that was that. Weeks later I wanted to find out some info on another specific person and attempted to log in and could not gain access - I was under the impression that my time of usage had expired.
This last year has been very difficult for me. I suffer from severe migraines. And caring for a special needs child has been overwhelming. So I have not been on top of my checking account as I usually am. But today I decided to take a look at the withdrawals - and I was blown away to find that Instant Checkmate had been taking $22.86 out of my account since March 2013 - It is now early August 2014! I immediately called and spoke with a lady who told me I was supposed to call and cancel. I was NEVER informed that I needed to call and cancel because I had purchased a specific time frame of usage. In addition my experience has always been with any and all professional companies that when any money is taken from your account, you are notified via e-mail. She said she could not do anything but cancel my account. I truly believe this company is a scam.

Do not use this site......Zabasearch is free and provides more information than this rip off site does......I signed up for one month unlimited use for $22......did a look up on a person....All you get is basic information that you can find anywhere on the web for free....So if you want marriage and divorce records or arrest records you then have to sign up for their PREMIUM package at an additional $20.......So I called them after having used it one time, and said it was a rip off and I wanted my money back.....She had to go and ask supervisor......then they said they would refund half of my payment within 3 to 5 days and I could use the site for the rest of the month. WHAT FOR??????? They only provide basic outdated information that can be found elsewhere on the web for FREE. MAJOR RIPOFF. DO NOT GET SUCKED IN AND SPREAD THE WORD TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!

So I just tried Instant Checkmate and found info to be less than accurate with friends and family that I know have marriage and divorce and also criminal records. Not a thing showed up for anyone. So I found it to be inaccurate. Search of myself was accurate. Being I have never been in trouble with the law and never married, not a thing should be on my record. That's exactly what I found. Not a thing just like everyone else I searched.
I called customer service and expressed my lack of satisfactory with service and they gave me a refund and had me off the phone in about 2 min. I thought they were going to give me the runaround with a refund. If I get my refund, I believe this company is trying to provide people with accurate info. If you decide to use this service, do not just search someone without a record. Try searching someone you know very well like a family member or a close personal friend you know the dirt on. Then make a decision for yourself. Maybe you will have better results than I did. I will update post asap if I received my refund.

I am a website journalist researching Instant Checkmate for our review series. I went to the site and did a search only to find at the very end of the process that this is not a free service as it appeared to be. They never said it was free, but there are no mention of fees until the end of a search. When I went to leave the site, I was prompted to try the site for $1. Harmless enough, I decided to comply. So I did a few searches for people with information I know exists. I searched for four individuals and none of them returned correct results. Not even close. These are people that I've known for more than 20 years, so I know their history.
So I brushed it off as a failed experiment for $1. No big deal. Then this morning I noticed that they charged me $29.63. I called their customer service and explained the situation. The courteous representative explained their terms and conditions, which "you had to have agreed to" and continued to tell me how they were within their rights to charge me without notice. Naturally I have no choice but to concede. When I requested a refund due to the fact that I had no intention of using the site again and explained that I was a journalist publishing an article, he said that normally they do not give refunds but would check with his supervisor. They did offer a 50% refund for a service I'll never use. But did say that I have access to the site for the rest of the month.
Since I do have a month left according to the representative, I'll do some more research and publish a detailed report here and at My Tech Report dot com.

I took the 1 month option and made the mistake of clicking on the premium which cost $19.99 above the 1 month cost. Nothing was said about this added cost. I cancelled my membership and after 3 calls I cannot get an email showing my cancellation.

IT's a scam just like the rest. They provide you with minimal information and then send you on a wild goose chase for more dollars. I just spent about $40+ to find they don't really get you anything worthwhile. I will not be using them again. After choosing to upgrade a search and paying the $19.99 fee, I received the exact same information that I had seen on the limited view. Nothing more extensive, as far as information, was divulged. There was absolutely zero point for me to upgrade that search and I will refrain from doing so in the future. The information on this website is also not up to date and I understand that it's gathered from public info but there should be an asterisk to designate when the information was submitted and note that it may not be current. The website is full of trickery. And I want my $19.99 refunded for the false upgrade that I paid for.

Instant Checkmate will charge you a membership fee, a fee for a PDF button that even if you accidentally hit it, you can't cancel, and then they will charge you a "premium" but their premium data is not premium. They don't even show marriage and divorce licenses and those are public record. For the cost of this, you can call the county clerk office and find out more information on someone or go to the local diner and listen to people. They are a scam. There is no difference between premium and regular data except they charge you an extra 20 bucks. In 15 minutes they made 30 dollars because I believed all of the advertising hype that they have real arrest records and real data. They do not. BEWARE, it is a rip off.

If you give them your card info thinking it's a one-time charge, stand by. They will continue to charge you each month for as long as your card is active. Read the other reviews on this site to verify this info. By the way, if you go on to their site expecting to change your account status, good luck, no way to do that. No way to stop the charges. And finally, before you commit to this service, call the phone number. If you can get past the "mail box is full" and talk to an individual, then you can decide for yourself.

Very much dissatisfied. If I paid for this original service why do I have to pay again to get something besides address and phone number. I can get this from Yellow Pages FREE. Also public records are free so why do I have to pay an additional 19.99 to see them. After I entered my credit card number it defaulted to the 6 month subscription when I just wanted the one month. All info is not correct. I know for a fact that someone had a criminal record and it did not show up after I paid the extra charge and if ALL categories don't release information, don't charge me for them. This site is so false advertisement and I will press this forward so no one can get SCAMMED like I did.

Instant Checkmate contacted me right away after publishing my review. They apologized for not being able to provide info I was seeking, sort of explained how they obtain information (it's all public info) and apologized for not being clear on their billing policies. I was offered and did receive a full refund which I appreciate. That being said, I am still waiting for the email confirmation verifying cancellation of the account. That was supposed to have arrived within 48 hours.
It's been 9 days. I will not be using this service but some may find it useful to save time contacting a variety of agencies to get the public info you seek. I am satisfied with the final outcome but not the service itself....just to be clear on my updated rating.

I signed up for a ONE month usage for $24.85 on 4/10/2014. I had no intention or need of using ICM on a regular basis. I found out today 7/31/14 they are dinging my bank account monthly for $22.86 on 5/12, 6/10, 7/10. I don't look at this bank account often as I keep minimal money in it in case I get caught in a scam...hmmmm. In addition, each person I looked up had older than dirt info, incorrect info and bogus info. Even MY info was incorrect. They had me living in a state I've never even visited, they show me as currently married (divorced in 1988), have me related to persons I've never heard of and my family info is also incorrect.
Today 7/31/14 I called 1-866-490-5980 (this is a published Instant CheckMate phone number) and spoke with Leslie (who was quiet and cordial) to end this. I was put on hold and when Leslie returned I was told my "membership" was cancelled and I "shouldn't get any more charges against my bank account" (I "shouldn't"????). I was also told I would get a confirmation within 24 hours...(why not immediately...everything is electronic these says, this is 2014).
My initial $24.85 was a waste of money but I wasn't upset about that, I took a chance and was duped! However, the subsequent months I am angry about. Don't waste your money...not even the first time. Good luck.

I registered to find a birth date and it could not come up with one. I called for a refund but the lady said, "our disclaimer states we are not 100% accurate with all findings". LOL, keep the $22 bucks. What a waste of time. Just tried another site Intelius and found the info for a trial period of $1.

The results are not trustworthy - there is missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information on every person I searched for (including myself). After I paid full price for a 1-month membership, I learned I could have had the same membership for ONE DOLLAR - so I very much feel CHEATED! More detailed information is available at extra cost. PDF file reports are available at extra cost. Extra cost, extra cost, extra cost... It never ends - and who is to say the detailed information will be any better than the untrustworthy information you get in the first place? AVOID Instant Checkmate like the plague!

Bait and switch tactics used. They want more money for what I thought I had already paid for. There is so much information that should be on here that isn't. I have checked records for people that I know have been arrested, not there. People divorced and married, not there etc. This is a waste of time and money. I cancelled within 2 hours of the time I signed up, was supposed to get a confirmation email with cancellation information. Still waiting for that confirmation. If they continue to charge my credit card I will be contacting the BBB and anybody else that will help me stop them from taking anymore of my money or anybody else's.

After foraging for what felt like eternity to get through the teaser screens, I was offered some information for $1. By this time, I figure I've spent a part of my life on this web site, I guess I can spend a dollar. Then the data I am buying shows up and wow! There was only the name and the city the person may have lived in. What a scam. I laugh and say, "They got me for $1! " But wait! There's more! On my next credit card statement, there is a charge for $29. Apparently unbeknownst to me, I am now on a monthly payment plan for $29 a month. I have a business degree and I'm a CPA. If this company can fool me, how many others are fooled into spending their hard-earned money each day? I called and threatened a class action lawsuit and the customer service supervisor agreed to refund the money they charged me - of course after putting me on hold for almost as long as it took them to get my $1. There has got to be something illegal about this business. It is a crime.

Normally I would check the complaints on a business like this before signing on, but their statement of not believing in add-ons for billing took me in. I did a search on myself and immediate family members to start with and received an indication that there was confidential information I would have to pay more for. I did so and found nothing there. In addition, my telephone number was not even correct and there was no record of my marriage of 44 years. In short, this is a ripoff site that NO ONE should trust or deal with. I'll be canceling my "membership" after this one experience.

They provide you good information. However, they dribble it out at a price. You will receive initial summary information and then they will charge you extra for information that actually matters and you would expect to be included at the base price. The kicker is that they will charge your credit card every month if you don't call and cancel so be careful. They got me for two extra months before I caught them on the credit card.

I tried to find my great grandsons but was unable to find them or their father. Also, I am using this for genealogy. I think that if you have names that are connected with others, you can use genealogy in your advertisement and bring a whole new clientele to your site. But, you will have to do better in having the correct people in your database.

I was very disappointed in the amount of information I learned. When I first searched before I purchased, the search took a long time and it appeared to provide a lot of information. Most of the information I have found on your site I knew before I searched their name. I kept trying, just to see if the ones I happened to check did not have the information, but it is the same for all. Then it became a game where I was randomly searching for people I did not care about just to see if any of them had any "real" information. What a waste of time and money, but of course, there is another option if you want to spend more money. I am sure it is no better and even if it was, I was not shown to be that way. I can find more information by searching the county records myself. I want to cancel and have my money refunded.

I will say that this company was very deceptive in their advertising. They give you no more than basic information that you could get from a phone book and want to charge you for anything else. I just signed up for this service and did a check on myself to verify the accuracy of the information. It is not accurate. There is crucial data missing, particularly the marriage and divorce records as well as relatives listed were inaccurate. I am not happy about spending this money on the 1 month membership.

I know that I will receive an email from this company as a result of filing this review with ConsumerAffairs. It is a clever way to make it look like everything has been resolved. Every report I have pulled up is so full of misinformation that it makes it useless to me. I wonder how many times Instant Checkmate has been sued! How do I get my information, which is full of errors that could seriously damage my reputation, removed from this service?

I was able to find the information that I needed. They offered me a trial membership for $1.00. I am very leery of that kind of offer because I got taken by a credit reporting place that charged my debit card over $100.00. I took the chance and am pleased to report that I was able to cancel with no problem.

I was somewhat satisfied with the information your site provided me which was just basic information. However I found much more information that I was looking for on my own by searching public, county, city & state records available to anyone online. I was looking for arrest records on someone who is scamming a friend. I found several myself before I was directed to this scam of a site. They had the right name and aliases but failed to find her heroin conviction or Criminal Trespass conviction or anything else. They wanted more money to "dig deeper." I will be reporting this company to the BBB and directing my credit card company to get the money back. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Stay away... far away!

I am being accurate and fair when I say that I spent good money to look up 3 peoples' criminal records and found absolutely nothing! I know for a fact that 2 of the 3 were sex offenders. I know because I am related. Some of your information has been helpful, but I would not pay for your services again, owing to the fact that you claim to provide criminal records, records that exist, by the way. ;-) Thank You.

I am satisfied for the most part. The report gives addresses and phone numbers. Happy reviews would include past or current designation with addresses and phone numbers. My home number was correct but phone numbers with past addresses were erroneous. I was expecting more detail from the "surprising" info promised - but that must be for the premium report. Suffice it to say -"I am satisfied."

I've been impressed with the breadth of the search capability of your service. One thing that might be helpful, at least for my purpose, is to have some older data for individuals, particularly some reference to past residency (i.e. during high school). At the website I decided not to pay for the service, but was flashed a "$1.00 for 5 days" trial notice for FULL service. I succumbed. I checked out MY profile and found it confusing, inaccurate and very minimal, and if I wanted to know more, I would need to pay more. I would have to phone in my cancellation. I did phone the next day, twice, and was each time bombarded with the request to accepted a Walmart $100 gift card, which I did not respond to. My call got bumped to a call center which could not honor my cancellation request and they hung up on me. My second call was also unfruitful, I was told they had no connection to InstantCheckmate.com. I called my credit card company and they DID get in contact with someone who DID honor my request to not automatically charge me monthly at over $25/month. This is NOT worth any money and what info I found out about myself was easily available elsewhere. I will notify all my friends about this "service" and warn them of its worthlessness.

I was using the service to verify info about a guy, but I wanted to know how reliable the info was, so I got a report about me too. So apparently my birthday isn't my birthday, my dad is my husband and I'm a US senator. Lol, ridiculous!! Don't waste your money!! I called the customer service line and they told me that happens sometimes. It's public records, how do they get that mixed up!! If they had shown someone else's marriage as mine, because we had the same name that would be fine. There are a lot of people out there with similar names, but showing my dad as my husband, I don't understand how that happens. They would only refund half of my money even though they don't provide accurate info. It's pretty much a scam.

I am disappointed and confused because what was advertised versus what was provided, then the additional costs. What was provided for the advertised price could have been found free of charge. I paid the one month membership fee to view information that this site stated it provided, then had a woman telling me how important it was to get it. Then I was asked to pay an additional (One Time Fee of $19.99) to view the information and $1.99 to view it in PDF form.
I did pay both fees and complimented the pages that had current information, and was surprised at the amount of information you advertised having and the importance of checking and as in the advertisement I checked a known name to verify the information. The only current and correct areas of the Full or Advanced Report, the one that costs the additional $19.99, were locations, family and possible associates. You had no arrest record stated, but below in the "not likely" category it listed her full name and county of arrest, first but there was no date or mug shot listed, and I know firsthand the date of arrest, the charges filed, date of arraignment, and the date she accepted the plea bargain and the charge it was plead down to, as well as the sentence.
This site also advertised knowledge of firearms licenses, marriage and divorce licenses, and social networks, (in fact all of the major ones were listed) and there were none located for this specific person, so I attempted to change the search name to her maiden name and it went back to her previous married name, because that was the name the initial search was conducted under to ensure locating the arrest record. Her maiden name is listed under the aliases provided, as well as all previous married names, and incorrect spellings of her maiden name.
I am also concerned that the statement written on the advanced search state that it was a one time fee for the duration of my membership, but when I clicked on another name associated and asked for "more info" and clicked on the advanced search, it asked for permission to charge my card on file again another $19.99. So my question is, if I want to locate any information other than what can be found in a simple Google search, do I or am I required to pay an additional $19.99 for each person? I previously used Intelius (sp) and there were no hidden fees and the information was more accurate. I will try my name and a couple others to see, maybe your disclaimers at the top of each special field should be stated upfront, as well as the addition fee that people must pay to hopefully see the information that they thought they were paying for when purchasing a membership. I use an IPad Air & after paying for 3 months $44, it was impossible to log onto Instant Checkmate. I telephoned this company & got an apology, but would not refund my $44. The customer service rep. had no problem logging on with my info.; however she was not using IOS. Also, when I initially logged on, my info. as well as my husband's info. were inaccurate.

I signed up for this initially to find information on family, and the information provided wasn't current and kept trying to charge me for more information. Less than an hour later, I called to cancel membership and associate said I would still be charged for the full month. Associate spoke to me very rudely and told me there was nothing she could do about a full refund.

Don't waste your money! After I submitted my credit card I started to do various searches and although it said certain information would be available, such as marriage and divorce history, nothing comes up. You get no more information than you can find for free. I called them immediately to cancel my membership, but was informed the only thing they would do would cancel the recurring charge, but not refund the one month membership plus separate PDF charge. Should have read the reviews prior to falling for this scam!!

This site is insane. Very little of the information is even remotely close to what I am looking for. It's all guessing and massive amounts of links to follow to even think you're coming close to finding someone you're looking for. Oh and if you want the "so-called" extensive information, you have to pay an even higher premium price with no guarantee that the information provided will be correct, so why bother. You should be ashamed taking people's money and getting their hopes up only to leave them with basically no more information than what they started with.

I learned about your service thru a friend. I purchased your services for 3 mos. I added PDF. I got my first report and it had negligible information. So I tried another report, on myself. I am listed as being married to my son, which I will be calling tomorrow to get that fixed. Other info was incorrect as well. And very brief. So I decided to upgrade to the Premium Report which I understood to be a 1 time $19.95 charge similar to the 1.99 1x fee to access & download PDF. The only reason I paid for this was to view criminal records for someone close to me. I know there are records but none showed. I have been suspicious of paying for these checks before, and am not happy with taking the chance on this site.

I want to mention stopping your added pop up about paying for the pdf before one has been able to search the info. It's misleading and not needed as the search wasn't very conclusive. Looked up myself first and the information was not accurate at all. Then I looked up someone I knew had a criminal record and no information was found. I cancelled within the week but was still charged $1.00 plus $22.86. I should have been credited not charged.

I look for people a lot for process service. Your new current addresses could be a little better. Sometimes the post office is more current. However, this helps some.

It appears that there are too many charges for the same information and I did not receive what I expected to receive and paid for! I did get the PDF download but I am not certain I got what I paid for!

I am a new member tonight. I did not plan to join. I just ended up here and started with a interest on old friends from back home. All was fine, until I felt misled about the premium package to receive the information that seem to be talked about in the beginning and I guess I didn't get it right, so I used what little change I had in PayPal, to open the account, but I won't or can't afford premium packages just for interest and fun. But it was interesting and enjoyable. Thanks.
