In general, I am satisfied with your service. There are a few problems, though.
2. You charged my bank twice for premium info on Jason ** but never gave me the info.
3. I do not know why the charge for premium info is $22+ when you say it will be $19.99. Is the extra for taxes?
4. I want to get rid of most of my searches, but I only see a way to archive some. Is it possible to delete any?
5. You have my father and my brother as married to each other! Where do you get your information?

These records don't seem to be current or up to date for David **. He is currently in the Linn County jail for drunk driving and there is no mention of this on his record. I paid for the premium information on David.

I signed up after reading what would be provided in the FREE report. I clicked on the UNLOCK MY REPORT button, entered my credit card information for the $22.88 report. I had to pay another $1.99 to get the report in PDF format. Then when I read it, there was NOTHING in it that couldn't be found by doing a simple GOOGLE search. If I wanted to get the business associates information or ANY other IMPORTANT information on the person I ran the search on, I had to UPGRADE for another $19.99. I will say that after asking to speak to a supervisor and voicing my displeasure with the results, I was refunded HALF of my fees ($11.44). It remains to be seen if they really refund anything. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE FOR ANYTHING.

You advertise full background checks for a monthly fee. The information you provide, can be ascertained for free. The full background comes at an additional charge. Bait and switch comes to mind!

It took about 20 minutes to get into the system today. When I did a search, I got an empty page with the word "null". I hope it was a temporary problem. Otherwise, I have had a good experience using Firefox. Today I tried using Chrome.

At the beginning your site assured me (and other users) that there were "NO HIDDEN CHARGES". Well, THAT was a bunch of bunk. To even look at my own personal information, I had to BUY a 5-day membership. Then, in order to get much information at all, it was going to cost even more. To obtain service for more than the 5 days, the costs went up pretty rapidly, and I'm assuming that there were additional costs even there. Entering the site KNOWING there would be charges involved at the beginning would have given me the information I needed to make a reasonable determination as to whether or not I wanted to proceed. As it was, I wasted a lot of time playing your game of "Do you want this, or this, or this???"
I had expected to send your URL to most of my internet friends, but now there is NO WAY I will do that. It would be both unreasonable and unfair to let them fall for your charade also. I won't be coming back to renew for a longer period of time, if I ever even use your service again after tonight. Lousy, unethical site... Just as the majority of information and sites on the internet. You're at least in company with the majority of internet scams.

I am getting some generic info. I am disappointed that if I want more, I have to pay PER search. Doesn't seem right to me. I thought if I paid the $1 plus the $19.99, I could get into more of the info. AND MOST of it is dated, from years ago. I WOULD NOT recommend this to others at all.

Once I paid for the unlimited month ($22.86) and was able to access the records on the person I was searching. The only thing Instant Checkmate got correct was the person's name. The person's date of birth and address were incorrect and the person doesn't have a landline and the phone number the company provided was not correct either. If I wanted any additional information I had to pay more money on top of the extra $1.99 I paid to get a pdf version of information that was incorrect. I cancelled my membership immediately but I should be refunded my money as 3/4ths of the information was incorrect.

I've found some of the information out of order by time. I was hoping for more current information and recent phone numbers. Some of my searches I found information that was 5 or 6 years out of date. Other than that it did give me a lot of information to get started with. Thank you.

I had a terrible time finding records on the name I indicated and I received VERY little information. I could have gotten more information on Ancestry.com than I did on this site. Very dissatisfied.

I have had great luck in locating some of my classmates for our 50 year reunion. However, getting on the 2nd day was a problem. It would not accept my password. I had to call your toll free number to get back on the site without paying again. I hope my access without anymore problems.

I signed up for this service for unlimited reports. The reports I received were absolutely useless and were missing relevant information that I was able to find on my own using free public records site. I cancelled within 30 minutes of signing up. I was promised a refund, but they advised that it would take several business days to process. I still have not received the confirmation of my cancellation, even though my registration and payment showed up immediately. The only thing instant about their service is how quickly they take your money. Use Google and get the same information for free.

I agreed to a one time charge ($19.99) for premium level but your system charged my account 5 times ($100) and took all money from my account. Your website system is not clear enough for Disabled Person with brain injury like me can understand it and use it without making serious mistakes. You took all the money I have for food for rest of January.

Reading through the replies to consumer concerns - which I see are many - I also note you just cut and paste replies. Not impressed. This indicates you really don't care and are just going through a process to appease. I had planned to take out a company subscription however reading the comments from people with genuine gripes I now will Not be using Instant Checkmate as you clearly are taking advantage of data provision and not providing an honest service for money paid. Disappointing... Perhaps if you address the primary issues of ensuring you deliver a decent comprehensive service for fair payment then your volume of complaint posts will not be so frequent.

I am very upset that the information is not complete. I even paid for Premium to get information regarding marriages and divorces so I could see if he was single and to see if he had children. None of that information is listed. Very Angry that I paid all the money to get nothing in return. It did not give me any more information than I already had and in fact, I have more information that you folks offer. I would like you to refund my money for the month subscription as well as the premium report that I paid for. I am very upset that you have no real information to offer.

I was blown away that that much info was available on ME! Then I tried my children - all over 21 and was again amazed. Would love to have an entire package - but don't know the cost. Seems everything you want is an addition add-on cost!

In researching, I find that information is not presented in a way to decipher which is most current. For example, address information. You will list 10 known addresses, however, you do not identify which is the last known address. In addition, you do not have information on marriage and divorce for NY state. I know this because I researched my own records and it gave no indication that I was married or divorced. I also used additional individuals I knew to test my theory. This is where I have issues and find it prudent not to purchase the entire product. In the future consider providing up to date and accurate information in the trial period and individuals will purchase the premium content.

Instant Checkmate provides a useful and easy to use service. Its website, customer service and PR are top notch. However, the following feedback might be useful to you.
1. BAIT and SWITCH tactics are used. I wanted to test drive this service a bit before making an investment. The Terms of Use section 1b mentions the availability of a 5 day $1 Trial Membership, so I elected to proceed. However, when billing information was required, there was no $1 Trial option (first bait and switch). So I opted for the $22.95 for 1 month option. And that's you subsequently discover after using the service that only basic data is provided at this rate. Other data like email addresses and financial information (I was keen to know what financial information on me was out there) was considered Premium data and would cost another $19.99. This should have been mentioned upfront before we committed to this purchase, not after (second bait and switch).
2. Some of the information provided is useless noise as understandably, matching based on limited criteria like name, DOB and location has its limitations and the data is as accurate as the sources they are derived from. However, under Marriage and Divorces, apart from not providing any correct matches, many of the entries showed exactly the same marriages getting divorces on the same date. Marriages may not last but this looks like an obvious retrieval error.
3. I opted for the $2 PDF saving capability (which incidentally should be included without extra charge) and kept encountering an error message when trying to save a PDF report. Based on a suggestion from a customer service representative, I closed my browser and opened it up again and now it works. The error message should have suggested this.
4. I called up Customer Service to cancel my subscription immediately and to voice my dissatisfaction. She was professional, polite and gave me a partial refund.
To Instant Checkmate - You have much going for your company. Don't blemish your reputation by using these bait and switch tactics and be upfront with the cost options including the Premium data and your customer satisfaction will be even better.

I would have given an extra star, but I don't see why I have to pay an extra "Premium" price for my own records of $19.99. I would understand if it were another person I wanted more information for, but not myself. And October 24 is in Scorpio, not Libra.

I looked up basic known information on certain people and it was either missing or completely wrong (including "current" phone numbers on dead relatives). Further, I was getting charged for services that were to be included. I am not happy.

Every report has cursory information that I could gather anywhere. I thought when I subscribed to this service, the information I would have access to was more in depth. What I have found is that the more in depth information costs an additional $19.99 each time. I am not happy with this service.

The information your website provides is either non existent or inaccurate. I looked up people I know that have just been released from jail or committed murders and served time. Your note states 'no records found'. Even though I know they committed the crimes. Listen, there is a fugitive named Leeshawn ** who is hiding from authorities right now in Delaware. His targets are mcdonalds and pizza huts. He's under some fake name and is wanted for armed robberies in several states. I signed on here to try and find the fake names and get his previous criminal record with his real name from the mcdonalds robbery in Louisville in the mid 2000's. You have no information and I need it to turn him in. I have gone to police with this and they are trying to find him too. Why do you not have the information available?

I wanted to see if I could find my ex-husband or numbers to find him. You didn’t even have his middle initial right. I picked him up from jail in 2007 and you didn’t have any of his incarcerations or his marriage or divorce records, his FAA license. NOTHING. My brother’s birthday and middle initial are wrong yet you have linked him to my father. My mom and dad were never divorced but you have Bob ** and Nancy ** divorced in 1974. If I wanted to pay more I could have looked in farther but with all the misinformation I found why would I want to do that. I wouldn’t know if the information is right or not. I am very disappointed that not only does he owe me over 80K in child support I have now wasted another 20 dollars trying to find the **. But if I had known it was going to cost more to find more detailed things I would have never gotten this. Way to go.. you got another 20.

After being dissatisfied with Instant Checkmate and posting a review saying so, the company contacted me the next business day and offered a refund and I accepted it. It was nice of the company to do so and they did the right thing.

I just checked my records on Instant Checkmate as I periodically check my online status. I have no problems but it's important to check. Instant Checkmate charged me $22.xx dollars for the search results and THEN an additional $1.99 for a pdf document of the results. Ok, I purchased it. The information was inaccurate about me with some phone numbers I never heard of linked to me and my astrological sign was featured. REALLY? There were also numerous chances to UPGRADE my search results to get more information. What a cash cow. Next I found out that my $22.xx dollar charge was RECURRING and I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to cancel that. I'd love a refund from this crappy information site.
Bottom line: don't use InstantCheckmate.com. I wish I would not have done so.

I was hoping this would show more information that I was able to find just by Google-ing this person. I was wrong. Not entirely thrilled that it continued to ask me for more money to find "more detailed" information.. I called and cancelled my account within just a few minutes. The gentleman I spoke with (Derrick) was very friendly and cancelled my accounts with no questions. The site may be good for just general information, but didn't help at all for the information I needed. I just feel like I wasted $23.

I barely got any information with the initial search for $22.86. They had two people showing up with the same name so I wasn't sure which one to choose. Chose the one that had more info showing, but that turned out to be useless. Then they ask you to pay $19.99 extra for a "premium" report. Paid for that and didn't get anything current or useful. There are also extra charges to do a phone look up, to print a PDF version of the "background check" or to have them "monitor" the report and notify you if any more information is added to that person's background check. I passed on all those, but in the end, I paid almost $43 for nothing. I had more info in my address book than I got from this service last night; I have her social security number, but there is no place to enter that information, which would allow you to narrow your search and improve the results. All I got was a list of old addresses and a phone number that's not hers.
One old address may be correct (I think it's her father's address), but I already had that. The two links to her Facebook page didn't work. I know what state she currently lives in, but there was no information on that at all. I'm on the phone with them now requesting a refund. The guy is being polite but insists they provided a service and that their web site has a disclaimer that the information provided may be incomplete or outdated. That's an understatement. I insisted on a refund but he said he couldn't authorize this. After I insisted on speaking to a supervisor, he offered to refund the $19.99 fee for the "premium" report. I thanked him, but insisted on speaking to a supervisor. He said they were short-staffed because it was the holidays, so I asked when a supervisor would be available. At this point, he asked if he could put me on hold so he could check. Then he came back to tell me they'd refund both fees. Justice! All those glowing reviews have to be fake.

I thought my response was fair and to the point. I didn't think the service worked as intended. Instant Checkmate refunded my money. I was satisfied that they handled the complaint very professionally, and while I did not get the desired result from my search, I was treated very well indeed by their staff. I don't have any complaint with the way they handled things.

I am afraid that my high hopes were not met with high results. I started out by trying to find info on a friend I had lost track of more than 10 years ago while on active duty because of 9-11. I saw some info on her, but was disappointed at other info because I knew it to be wrong. I started wondering whether I would be able to use any of the info when it crossed my mind to run checks on other people that I knew all of the info I would ask about. I repeatedly found that I was being given worthless phone numbers, addresses, incorrect names, incorrect relatives, and so on. Naturally some of the information was correct, but not nearly enough to make it worth additional money in hopes of getting different results.

Instantcheck baits you in by advertising they will supply you with real factual information like "criminal background." It even shows the site going through multiple search modes and then tells you it has found information. After several minutes and searches, it prompts you for a payment to get this information. Once you pay it, you receive minor information (much of which is incorrect information and the wrong people). It also tells you at this point that the criminal information found will require an upgrade on top of what you have already paid.
I ran 5 names on Instacheck of people I know well and 2 of which have criminal backgrounds. Not only did the criminal information not come up, multiple addresses did not come up that were residences for years. I found that I can obtain the exact same information that Instantcheck supplied simply by Googling names. This is no exaggeration. Save your money. This company is a 100% rip-off!

False advertisement! Initial fee does not include hardly any information. You have to pay additional fees to get the information you were led to believe the initial fee provided and even information is not complete! I know for a fact that the person I did a search on has an arrest record yet no information on either arrest was returned!

I paid $22.86 for a one-month trial. I actually was happy with the service. But I cancelled within the month, so I would not be billed in the future. Well, I was billed $22.86 for the next three months. I called on Dec. 28 to their company to ask what was going on. The lady on the phone said that the first person I cancelled with must have made an error, and that she would refund me the three months and that I would get a confirmation email of the call and the cancellation number. Two days later, and I can't find any email from Instant Checkmate, nor do I see any refund on my credit card. So, this seems like a giant scam to me and I will now go to the Federal Trade Commission about it, and make more detailed inquiries through my credit card company.

My wife used the services on Checkmate to make several inquiries in late September 2014. She got what she asked for and was satisfied with the service provided. Somewhat hidden in the process, however, was an automatic enrollment in their monthly service -- for an additional charge of $22.86 per month, which they have billed us since. I completely understand paying for services requested, but object to billing practices that include creation of an account and continued automatic billing until you cancel the account. I called Checkmate today to cancel and request a refund of the fees charged in October, November and December. They initially offered a courtesy refund of the December charge. Then 2months, and finally 3 months. The service provided is okay, billing practice is CRAP!

Although the information was somewhat correct, it was not up to date and for any new or updated (Premium) info, you want more money which is not noted when you sign up. Very dissatisfied with your site and would not recommend to friends. I made three separate payments for three different upgrades (sic) and still did not receive value for the money.
It is my first thought that your business is not totally honest because of the constant updates for more money that's not explained from the start. You have made me feel very dumb for being sucked into your business model while looking for my information and the info of my family. Having said that, I just had the thought that you really don't care what my thoughts are because of your business model. "Providing info that may or may not be the person in question" for profit does fall in the category of Capitalism; which I'm in favor of, but your shotgun method and extra payments falls into the category of slimy Capitalism. I figure I just got an approximately $80.00 lesson. Shame on the both of us because of your greed and my ignorance.

If I had come here and checked reviews BEFORE paying for a 6 month membership that I can't get out of and will have to remember to cancel or get billed for again in 6 months! I got nothing more than basic information I could have found for free on my own about myself, a lot of which was wrong! Constant pop ups to get premium information they claimed to provide for the fee you already paid... Sigh, I don't usually take the time to complain. But I hope this helps someone else. I just wish I hadn't been this silly. If I really wanted my zodiac sign and my horoscope I would open the daily paper!! The lesson I learned, look at the reviews first!

If you search and find the county address, you can look up the birth, death, marriage, and divorce records of people in any state and county or parish in the U.S.A. but you did not even show me that I was divorced almost 20 yrs. ago. I have noticed a lot of public information on subjects I looked up is wrong, inconclusive or not available?? The original asking price for this service is one price but if you want certain information then you have to pay extra for pretty basic information like phone numbers??? Some things are a little overpriced I think.

Instant Checkmate is mostly a scam. I just searched someone and no criminal reports were listed on IC's report. I know for a fact this person has multiple arrests, and at least 1 conviction in the past 3 years, and several arrests prior to 2011. Also, the site scammed me for more money just to download a PDF of the report. Then they tried to get more money for so called "Premium Reports". Basically, IC stole my money.

Anthony is my uncle! And to pay the amount plus the PDF charge.. I am VERY displeased. All of the information which is basic I already knew and we have been looking for him since 2010 bc his mom, my grandmother has died. The company does what other dishonest companies do to increase revenue - they don't tell you that premium membership is needed to get all of the data - I would have rather paid the money upfront - but now I am calling my credit card company to fight the charge. I recommend anyone that is also disappointed call their credit card companies to fight the charge. Even if you don't win, it will cause all kinds of troubles for the vendor and eventually help solve the problem. At some point the merchant services provider will no longer allow them to accept credit cards. I don't care about the money, I care about BS charges that are not transparent to the consumer before purchasing.

I called instant checkmate to complain about the services they provide. I spoke with a nice lady about the problems I had. She informed me of the things they went through to get information on people being searched for. She said that sometimes certain states don't release information so there were no guarantees to get all info on some people.
Also that it cost money for them to get info that's why the extra fees are involved. I told her that the info I got was wrong and that I tried to cancel my account but didn't have my credit card and the man I talked to wouldn't cancel because of this. They also charged me another month. I was put on hold while she spoke to her manager.
She told me they could give me until the middle of January free. I told her I didn't want that I wanted a refund. She finally got that approved. I just read the email that was sent to me. I would like to thank Ashley for being so kind. On the other hand I've yet to receive the phone call from the manager. I hope everything will be resolved.

I am very displeased with the information I received on the person that I checked on. The info was incorrect and upsetting. I paid 22 dollars and some change for this. Then was asked to pay more for further information. The pop ups are ridiculous. After all this I called to cancel my account and because I didn't have my credit card number with me they wouldn't do it. I've misplaced the card and can't find it. Called the credit card company and they deducted another bill! I can't understand why they couldn't cancel my acct. when they had the number to bill me again? Not very happy. Wouldn't recommend this company.

My experience, hate in-site upgrades. One price, FLAT RATE at the start is how a good company does business. And... NO opinion or reference for phone support when you ask them "what do I get for the extra 20-25 for 'premium' data?" Judging by your accuracy on my info and others I know, I can't see how you can think I would buy any additional info... including phone as it's 25.00 AND it's only good for landlines. What is it, 1987 again? Good for a general look up for cross referencing data one already has done their own research on. Not once yet has you site had a THING more than me on any person I have actually researched using simply google and my brain.

I've purchased three premium reports and none have had much more of any information in them than the regular report. If there isn't more, then it should say there isn't more information at this time.

I am shocked that data regarding a person I searched did not reveal the fact he did 17 years for murder and was released from prison less than 5 years ago. This site is unreliable and a waste of money.

If you think that you will pay your monthly fee and get full access that is not the case. It shows basic information that can be found on most search site and if you want more information it will cost another $19.99. I can't say if it is worth the extra cash, I canceled my account within minutes of opening it.

I found everybody I was searching for. Some are deceased, that needs to be rectified. Maybe you could publish an Obituary column, it would save search time. As I'm 73, it would be easier to find my friends are deceased than hunt for someone in a different state only to find they aren't the ones I'm searching for.

I had been looking to use Instant Checkmate for a while because I was told it was one of the more "legit" websites to use for background checks. However, when I put in all of my information and paid the $29, it only gave my very basic information. I did not realize that you had to pay an extra $20 just to see the information that I thought I had already paid to see. The site was misleading and I feel stupid for paying that amount of money to see records of mine that were not even correct. For example, it says on the site that I am married to my brother and it does not have any of my current information. Not happy...

Although I was able to find some of the information I came to the website for, the pop-up window advertising the premium access did not clearly state that the purchase would ONLY apply to the report I was already in. I thought it would apply to any reports I accessed during the length of my subscription. There was no way to look into the purchase details, with no terms visible on the screen, nor any obviously links to click on for further details. I feel this was VERY misleading (and possibly illegal) since no terms of purchase were visible anywhere in the window, and was a single-click payment relying on card info authorized in a separate, prior transaction. I would not have paid that much money for a single report. I would really like a refund!

I paid $29.95 for the one time offer that I received for a report that I ran on myself and my husband. The information contained in it was simply information that I could obtain through Google, and to get to any other more extensive records I would have to pay an upcharge. That was not disclosed before I paid the $29.95 charge. There was no email address to contact, and there was no answer when I tried to call the phone number given. I submitted a "bug report" to ask that my account be deleted. Ideally I'd like a refund, but I doubt that's going to happen. I'm submitting this review as a warning to anyone else who might be misled by their website.

Complete rip-off! When I decided to not proceed, a pop up would offer a better deal. Finally I accepted a one-time fee of 29.95. Each time I click a selection, a pop up would come up asking for more money to proceed. I never was able to get the information I was seeking. I eventually closed out the website highly disappointed.

Total rip off. Horrid to navigate with all the pop ups to get more money. Very limited information for the base price and one has to pay another $20 for the basic information you are searching for in the first place. Positive part is there is good access with nice operators, but does not help when you end up with very little information even when a note comes up that there is more information and after paying more there still is no added information available.

Wow. I think I just got charged some premium service while trying to get the drop tag survey to push enter. Great. To turn in your survey... it is almost impossible to get to the enter button at the bottom and now I possibly touched something trying to get down to the bottom that charged me even more $. Wow. When signing up to get this, I sure don't recall seeing a disclaimer or a heads up that every little thing would be extra. Most services are accessible for free on the Internet that you charge for the first time. If I would of known I would have to pay for most everything extra, I sure wouldn't have signed up.

I have submitted the names of convicted felons, and some with lesser convictions. You have failed to identify any of their well-documented crimes. Crimes that have splashed all over the tv and print media and you have no clue. In one case you couldn't even find the person. A person when Googled comes up with pages of entries and mug shots. I am very disappointed when I received the "Premium" Background report concerning David **. I paid extra for information I had already found while searching the web. Furthermore, the criminal information listed in the Premium report is showing two arrests. Based on the info found on the web this man has been arrested a dozen plus times. I have to say that the customer service response to my review of Instant Checkmate was outstanding. My initial feeling after signing up for their service was "con game". However, their handling of my complaint has convinced me that they're not out to con people but are simply being ill advised on how to market their service. I never did get a complete premium report so I can't comment on how comprehensive and useful it might be. Therefore, I can't give them 5 stars but I will give them 4 stars just based on their outstanding customer service.

I signed up for this site because I needed to find someone. I thought I'd get the info I needed so I paid the $22.86 and proceeded with the search. Part way through the search they ask for a one time payment of $1.99 if I want the reports in PDF format so I could print them. I thought that a little strange but I paid the additional charge because I needed printed reports.
Once I pulled up the report, I saw that it contained information that anyone can get with a simple google search. If you want more information, they want you to pay an additional $19.95 for a "Premium Report." This site totally misrepresents what you get for the money. I should have read the reviews before I signed up. My Bad!

Doing a check on someone I know to have a criminal record and to be a registered sex offender. You have to pay for a one month "membership" to get information that is easily accessible with a simple Google search. If you want to view anything else, it's an extra $20 - which I did not pay - and probably doesn't reveal anything worthwhile, either. DO NOT waste your time or money at this website and don't believe the positive reviews you see, either.

I was enticed by their slick marketing into doing a new search on someone I'd searched before using other similar services. By comparison, Instant Checkmate's data was less extensive and contained many inaccuracies. I would not recommend it. Plus, they are constantly asking for additional payments for extra services, after you've already forked over the monthly subscription you thought would get you everything they promised. The only good thing I have to say about them is that at least their cancel subscription line was not busy and the process was completed without hassle.

I'm sure they will respond with a boilerplate response... "Our team is working on... blah, blah, blah..." Don't bother. Companies that are set up like this to purposely take customers money should be shut down by the Feds. I agree with j of Oregon completely. I searched 3 people and found nothing useful. I call it a scam when this site like so many scams I've signed up for in the past when I sign up based on the wonderful promises to be able to get something they offer (in this case criminal records) only to find out after I pay their $23 fee that everything I thought I would have access to I would have to pay for their "premium upgraded report" for an extra $19. Now we're up to $42. I also REFUSED the automatic monthly withdrawal option but got an email thanking me for signing up for automatic monthly payments! I was furious and immediately called to cancel. I feel this site is set up to take advantage of people and they hope people will click on things that add more monthly fees. As an older adult it was confusing which is how I ended up having automatic payment of their fees. Be careful!

Please do NOT waste your time or your money on this site. They advertise that they will provide you with a plethora of information about an individual. In reality they provide you with scant, useless information that you could glean from Google. With a basic membership (~$23/month), when you search an individual you get little more than their name, address, phone number, and for some asinine reason, their horoscope information. Seriously?! Their horoscope!! Geez!! Then Instant Checkmate tries to tempt you into purchasing additional information related to the individual's criminal/arrest records. They offer this as "Premium" data, but of course, it requires an additional outlay of your hard-earned money. (I had already fallen for the basic membership sales pitch and had been greatly disappointed, so I did not buy into the premium data lie they were pitching.)
This site is a ruse!! I can not guarantee you from experience, but I presume that each time you pay more money to get more information, they will only promise you some additional information if you are willing to pay even more money. Instant Checkmate may not be breaking any laws... but they are certainly unscrupulous. Their basic membership "product" is attainable via Google and they dangle the carrot of "premium data" to entice you into spending endless amounts of money. Please, please, PLEASE do NOT waste your time!! BTW... I cancelled after ONE day with this sorry site. They robbed me of $23. Lesson learned...

The advertisements for this service clearly suggest that you will have total access to all available information on whoever you are searching for. I wanted to see what was out there about me, so I paid the $22.86. The information provided was incomplete, and in some cases, flat out wrong. However, this is not as much an issue as the fact that you must pay additional fees to gain access to the information they advertised as being part of the report you already paid for. In order to gain access to the information they show being accumulated for you during your initial query, you have to pay an additional $19.99 for a "Premium Upgrade." Instant Checkmate is guilty of false advertisement/fraud. I want my money back.

Very disappointed in a service as highly publicized as this one! The reports you get have nothing relevant that you can use and they want to charge you extra for a premium report that still has nothing good. Tried a similar service from a different website and got awesome results. Also, the website is seriously lacking functionality. The only thing you can change is your password. You can't change your payment method, email address, etc. There is no payment history of any kind. You have to send an email to their support department and wait to get any resolution. Their solution was to cancel and create a new account, but you'll have to use a different email address. Really?!!!!

In my opinion this is a scam and ripped me off! I purchased the unlimited one month and was happy to pay the amt required (@ $23.00). After purchase I entered names of people who I knew had criminal backgrounds and then I could not access without paying 19.99 MORE! Then some people just simply could not be found? Also when I checked myself it gave a phone # that I had never had or even heard of. This site does not offer ANYTHING extra to what you can google yourself. Everything I had saw on this site I had already known such as sexual predators and criminal records because they do NOT give any extra details, unless you pay 19.99 MORE. Then what does it show, probably nothing more than you already know!

First of all, the artificial loading screens bothered me. The website claims "instant checks", however it seems they are using a known psychological exploit to get more money. Potential customers will have invested so much of their time going through loading screens designed to increase the suspense of seeing the results. By the time they actually get to the billing screen, they will be more likely to pay for it. I saw right through it and was about to close the screen once I saw the price. However, a 99 cent 5 day trial ad popped up before it lets you close the page. I decided to take it.
Here is what I saw. I searched my name and even though they claim to have access to tons of records, all I saw was my name, age, address, a list of potential relatives, and links to my social network profiles (a Google search could do better). Okay, so maybe I have no criminal or traffic history on my record anymore, that's fine. So I looked up two people in my family who have been convicted within the last 10 years and one of them is still serving time. Pulling up the first member's record showed me a traffic infraction he had many years ago. However, it did not show any of his felony charges. The fact that I can go to the public database and see his felony charges for free, really showed me the limited capabilities of this website. For the other family member, I knew he would have at least 3 felonies, as I lived with him for a year and saw him go through the trials. All I got from his profile was basic info such as PO Box, but an additional premium membership was required to see the rest of the profile. It also costs 1.99 to print out a PDF document of anything in the website. Complete waste of time.

Numerous phone numbers were searched for names and Checkmate could not find any information about them or wanted more money to give any details about them on top of the expensive monthly service fee. Do not waste your money with this business as they are unable to provide the services promised.

I recently used this service to run a background check on myself to test their service. I really didn't expect much and that's just what I got. They came up with two facts that are easily available in public records. Of course they said there was more info but you would have to pay more for "full" report. So starts the deceptive billing practices. Offer a service for one price that is worthless but claim they can do better if you pay them more money. So now I realize what kind of company I'm dealing with. So I just chalked this up to a learning experience and kissed my $22 goodbye and I thought that was that.
Well now a month later they bill me again for another month. So somewhere when I signed up it was for a monthly ongoing payment. I know it was probably in the fine print somewhere but it wasn't obvious what I was paying for. This is the only way a company like this, that has a poor product/service can make money. So I only had used the service once and got the billing notice from PayPal just this morning. I called them two hours later and even though this would just be the start of the second month they would only refund me $11 off the second charge of $22. So you have to ask yourself, do you really want to deal with a company like this? If a company has a good product they don't have to cheat their customers to make money.

Different middle names for each section of the reports, no marriage or divorce licenses, no accurate phone numbers - past or present. This information is literally useless and BS. Please feel free to publish this response publicly. I originally gave a low rating because I felt I was misled. I was under the impression that, for the fee I was paying, I would have access to information not otherwise available online. Then, after a while, I was asked for a small additional fee for information I had been receiving. The fact is, I simply misunderstood the nature of the service. Although Instant Checkmate is providing information that is obtainable for free, to do this would be time consuming so there is good value in having that information compiled instantly in one place. For someone in a situation where they routinely need this type of information, whether it's for business or personal use, in my opinion, the service provided by Instant Checkmate is well worth the fee.
Their customer service responded very quickly to my concerns and, because of the misunderstanding, issued a full refund. They acknowledged this is a common misconception. I have learned not to judge a company solely by the complaints it receives. The best companies get them, including mine. It's how a company responds that defines them. Thumbs up Instant Checkmate.

They said it was a special offer $1.99 so I paid that to get out dated information if it was even for that person at all, then I look at my card statement and they took out $59.16 then another $1.99 then another $19.99 and another $23.40 then they added 1.99 then took $1.99 out again added $59.16 then took it out again added $23.40 just to take that out again so it charged me $104.54 to find out dated info if it was the right info at all. I want my money back.... WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ask for a report on someone, it was suppose to cost $1.95. If I wanted to read that report it was going to cost me $5.95. Then it was another $19.95 to read another report and for the overall report it was $25.00 and then it was $24.95 for and automatic monthly dues, and you joined whether you wanted to or not. I got absolutely nothing for approximately $50.00 and a monthly subscription to a BIG Rip Off Co. They are just absolutely stealing, and you get nothing for a report but an old phone number and address and horoscope.

I joined the site to learn about a specific person, the general information I was interested in, divorce records, criminal records. The individual I researched did not have much information at all. I decided to search on other people that I knew information about and what I found is that in all cases, the information was not complete or accurate such as criminal records for someone who was in the press, a lot for criminal acts and arrests. The checkmate system found none of this information. Also found marriage and divorce records to be inaccurate. I contacted the company to request a refund based on what I found. They were polite but refused to provide a refund referring to their disclaimer about information completeness or accuracy. I would not recommend this service.

The beginning of this report was accurate. As it proceeded it got away from the person in question. I needed marriage records which were not shown in this report for the individual that the report was able to pull. At the beginning it listed my mother (Monalisa **) and my father (Lawrence **) but neither were in the social portion. It was a waste of my money.

I would give a 5 star for customer service. They have contacted me by phone, but I didn't get to take the call. And I've received emails to resolve the issue. I now understand that certain places can't access files, so I can not honestly rate the program itself. I do think there should be some way to alert people to areas in the US that can not access complete files.
Just a thought, really. So, since there were people that have been satisfied with this company, I'd say it's a good program, if you live in a place where records are readily available. So, I will update my review to a 3 star...I won't leave a 5 star because the program did not work for me. Although customer service has been wonderful and I truly appreciate their getting in contact with me.
As I said, I do not like leaving negative feedback on anyone. If you are looking to spend the money on this program, just be aware it works in some areas and doesn't in others. I won't say don't get it, just be aware. Thanks for your time and I hope this helps someone.

I do not enjoy leaving negative feedback. And I normally don't. But I am on a tight budget and I'm very dissatisfied with the $25 I just spent. I just became someone's legal guardian and due to being handicapped they cannot supply me with background information. I decided (against negative comments...duh) that I would take a chance. I just wasted $25 of my living expenses to get ripped off again online. I have very little information and I already had the information that I got from this website. And I actually know more than what was on here. It answered no questions and didn't even include the information that I have.
Can I please have my money back? I don't like to complain, but $25 is a lot of money to me. And could be better spent elsewhere! And as I read in other reviews (but thought maybe it had changed) I paid $1.99 for PDF and then to get more info I would have had to pay another $19...Seriously? The tiny bit of information I even got isn't completely correct or complete...I doubt I'd even get any useful information out of another $19. Can you point me in a direction to actually get the information I desperately need?

I wanted to see a report on my ex-husband because my son is considering moving in with him. I paid for the basic search. There was not any information about any marriages or divorces. I know he was married and divorced at least twice. There was not any information about arrests, I know he was arrested at least once and ordered to attend anger management classes. I consider marriages and divorces basic information. It did give nonsense information, his astronomical sign and which sign was compatible with it. There were also LinkedIn profiles for men with similar names that were obviously not him. The information in the report was useless to me.

The only information available with this package is the most basic information. A lot of it is outdated and leaves out everything except names, ages and old phone numbers. I put in names of people I know have long criminal records and it tells me there are no records at all. I really don't really want zodiac signs. In one section it says my sister married her daughter 2 years ago. I'll have to call and ask her how that happened. It does seem to have birth dates right. I would like to have more information without having to pay extra for every little bit of real information that might or might not answer my questions.

I have been very pleased with the information that I received. It's amazing that I have found old friends & co-workers from years pass. I never told anyone about our secret. I just convince them I am an excellent skip-tracing person! As long as you used the information for connecting with persons that you admire & love, I think this is an excellent tool for getting to rekindle memories. Related to doing a search of myself and family members, checkmate was only able to provide location and age. I was not satisfied at all. I cancelled after the first hour. It seems to me that all they wanted was for me to upgrade to more personal info for 19.99, a pop up window that wouldn't leave me alone during my searches. What a hoax, wouldn't recommend to anybody, already stole my membership fees for the month plus 1.99 for PDF downloads. Don’t do it if you READ THIS, READ THIS, READ THIS.

I tried this service and paid for the one month. They do not tell you upfront after charging almost $23 that anything pertinent will require an extra $20 fee. The information they give for this first fee can easily be accessed for free. I used the name of someone that I know has been arrested and who has been married and divorced. The marriage information was absolutely incorrect and I know this is the correct person because of the associated names. There was of course no arrest information because they want extra for that information. I was able to get arrest information for free online via the online arrest records for that state a few years ago so I know it exists.
I was interested in seeing if there was anything new or any related information but am not going to pay extra for that. Checkmate failed my test for sure. This is a poor service, I feel ripped off and want my money returned. I am very suspicious of the so-called good reviews on this site since the bad experiences seem more likely given my experience. Also, from the way it appears on the website the fee for a one time monthly charge is not one time at all. I am canceling that portion immediately and if there is anyway to protest the initial charge I intend to do that as well.

I needed an address and paid the $4.95 to obtain it without signing up for the monthly subscription, as opposed the the .99 with the subscription. Unknown to me they proceeded to withdraw $19.95 every month. I have filed with the Better Business Bureau and the FCC.

Two things to know: 1. The service is just crap. They fake a lot of processing onscreen for something that, if you think about it, should take split seconds. It's just to draw you in and make you anxious for the results, and therefore to sign up. They have little to report and the info is worthless. 2. The game here is to get you to unknowingly sign up for a recurring expensive monthly charge, when they are then bad about refunding when you complain. THIS IS A TOTAL RIP!

I tried to find out some information. But after I paid the initial fee, and 1.99 and other fees, I got nothing but information I can get for free. I didn't even get the basic personal information, like birth date, marriage condition. All I have is an address which they give it for everyone before you pay for the fee.

Customer service called and issued me 1/2 refund as I wanted to keep my service. First offer was to fully refund service and cancel. I have found site helpful in locating old friends. Yet when it comes to doing searches for background a lot of information is crossed. My personal information has people connected to me, I don't know. I was told the only way to correct this was go to court house. If you get your info from local resources and just put them in one place why assume everyone with the same last name is related? So much information is outdated, as it shows my husband alive who has been deceased for over 6 yrs.

3/4 of the time you cannot get to do anything when you hit the search button. If you want a state you have trouble getting it to stay on that state and search. Never one time since I have been on here has a phone number been right.

Ran a report on myself. Site claimed no hidden fees, but to see anything more than a list of previous addresses and possible relatives you must pay a "small upgrade fee" of $19.99. Doesn't sound very small to me, especially given that each report requires an extra $20 to get a full access. Though that might actually be a good deal if they can make good on the promise of providing social security number.
The real icing on this cake is the end of the report. Astrological sign - with a handy compatibility calculator! I want my $22.86 back.

This service advertises itself as providing complete info. But after paying the monthly fee and waiting forever for 9 pages to download, it provides a phone contact and address only. It does not even give an email address without additional money. It is like one of these adult performers who is very nice and friendly at first, but demands tip after tip after tip in order to give a complete experience. I would not use this service again but I am stuck with it for the month. I canceled the repeat billing after my first five minutes of usage.

This site seems fair priced until you get your first report. Try yourself, me - average guy, no bad records, live in same town all my life, gets my birthday wrong (by a year) & only provides info I could find in a phone book or basic internet search. They then tell you to get the full report you have to pay $19 upgrade fee, upgrade $1.99 for PDF, everything is an upgrade. Should have known from BS graphics on the site, makes the search seem so much more than it is! This site should be closed down. Try anyone you know and the info is basic and birth dates are off! Save your money and use a different site, please!

Your trial offer was very misleading. It did not give the information that it was supposed to give without pop-ups wanting more money to gain the information that I was lead to believe, such as previous address and previous phone numbers. So to say you get all the information for 1.00 is very misleading.

I accessed website to check "myself" basically to rule out identity theft/etc. However, I was shocked when I accessed information and found the only information available was address, DOB. Marriage and Divorce info included anyone with the same last name. I was married and divorced but the name of the person I was married to did not appear. So I then attempted to access other people (e.g. my children ). My son's DOB was wrong and my daughters info was not available. Beware of this site. If you want to pay $25 to access someones name and DOB it may be worth it otherwise this site is SCAM. I did call to cancel however, no refund was offered. IT IS A SCAM!!

I liked being able to check things, I don't like the incomplete background reports without having to pay a higher price for each and every different person. But, maybe you'll change that or include a more complete portfolio for the monthly membership fee. We'll see.

This website states does charge for the use, nothing is free as they say. I did decide to pay a trial fee, then there were two more charges, $1.00 for the trial, $1.99 for the PDF and then a $19.95 for premium so I could get the information. This information was not available and when I spoke with a rep, he said that sometimes the county will not allow this information to be made available to them. Instant Checkmate does not say this anywhere that you can see before you are charged for their service and there was no money back.

I think that it is an overall good service although I have found times that it is confusing when a large number of people have the same names and I find that some of the marriage, business license info and criminal arrest info is incomplete. Overall it has been helpful.

I paid for one month at $22 and started looking up people I know. While I did get very basic info, (known addresses, possible relations) in almost every case, in order to get more info I was told I had to pay an additional $19 for premium services. But, even the basic info was incomplete. I entered the name of a person I know that was just released after 3 years in jail, and it showed she had no arrest records. And yes, I am sure I entered the correct info and that the person listed was correct. I feel this is a real bait and switch and that even the basic info provided is incorrect.

There is so little data available. ALL of the data available is far out of date (including the Premium reports). I feel very cheated! Much of the data is incorrect. A click to get additional information (not Premium) NEVER works. This app cannot find names, when I can 'Google' them and find them! I feel scammed! I want a refund.

Instant Checkmate does not inform the consumer UPFRONT that there are additional fees for "sensitive information." If they had integrity, they would explain, plainly, and in advance, that basic information will be provided with a regular subscription; and that other more "sensitive" information (the kind you are actually seeking) will require an additional fee. If you want general information, don't bother, you can find it elsewhere. If you want the "sensitive" information, then be prepared to pay an additional fee, above & beyond what is initially charged.

I have looked at most of the people who came to mind, and it even reminded me of the birthdate of an old girlfriend. The first person that I tried, arrest records were there. Since she had never wanted to mention this, I had never known the dates and other details, and I was satisfied when I found them.
Evidently, for younger people, few things were there as they had never been arrested. It did show a license to fly a plane for an old acquaintance of mine, which made me happy because that was her dream. Not everybody was there, though, but I do not fully blame them. There are and were so many people in this world that it would take decades to find everything.
However, I do have something against the fact that I must call to cancel my account. I took a one-month account, and I want to cancel it. The thing is that I hate to call people. I just want them to cancel everything because I am done researching people. I do not know 1,000 people in the United States. What I wanted, I got most of it. Now, it is time to cancel everything.
You should let people cancel online, like most websites. It would be better that way. What would I do if I were mute and I could not call? I would have to bother someone and ask him or her to do it for me. This is extremely inconvenient. Hopefully, they will see this message and help me.

Your website is more of a fancy visual misrepresentation of what is offered than anything I've ever experienced in my entire life. I was lead to believe that what I paid up front was going to provide me with at least NCIC or County records, but all I got was outdated information for the most part. I can do much better on my own. Offering additional information at additional costs is like pouring salt on an open wound. Are you serious? If you were a local business here in Vegas I would have demanded my money back under Nevada 3 day law as soon as I pulled the information on a few people I know all about.

Site offers one time monthly payment. When you check Paypal, you'll see that they have actually set up recurring monthly payment. Please avoid this site at all costs. The information is very limited. After charging $23 for a rudimentary report, then $1.99 for a PDF file, they ask for another $19 for more info. Very deceptive, very incomplete. This sort of business does dishonor to the Internet. These people should be ashamed of what they are doing.

I am illegitimate. My father applied for naturalization papers in Dec. 1953 signing two names he was known by. Andrey ** & Andrej **. However naturalization papers asked about his having children. He was aware of my mom's 2nd term pregnancy when he answered NO. The Pentagon gave me a B/D for him. ** to match **. On my own I found birth tr 1951 etc. I'd appreciate you getting your story right!

Inaccurate and outdated info i.e: my ex husband and my daughter are married to each other? And this is reported since 2012? Will strongly discourage peers to do background checks through instant checkmate because of the too many wrong informations, so many that it is unacceptable that it is DOWNRIGHT FRAUDULENT because the customers have a reasonable expectation of some accuracy. This is a complete rip-off. My request for a refund was never addressed so my concerns were forwarded to the Federal Trade Commission and a formal complaint logged in to discourage further defrauding of more customers and have investigation and audits look into practices of this company and the questionable quality of the goods and services it delivers.

Saw blurb on aol about an individual internet search for all info out there. Signed up for "free trial" ($1) and looked up myself...useless. On 11/17 they "rolled" my account to monthly and charged me $29.63. It's a scam and they should be shut down.

The service is good but there is nothing I hate more than half baked advertising. When your site says things like "Access any information about anyone for the low cost of..." and you buy it, you expect THAT... What you don't expect is to buy it, get only basic information that I could find out on Google, and when you want more information that should have been in the bundle you want to charge more money for in depth reports, etc. THAT IS BS.

Absolute useless information. They charge you and then give you info that could be found for free. Maps that are supposed to be in use say unavailable and beware.....they will hit you with a additional $20 charge if you don't pay "very close" attention to which report you are looking at. Their one time fee of $29 ended up costing me $70 within minutes. They put a horoscope wheel on there for compatibility for the subject of the report for Pete's sake. How utterly ridiculous!!! Unbelievable that this is the kind of service you get after all of their claims. Do yourself a favor and bypass this one. Money scam.

I received no information I didn't already have. The information received could be obtained for free of other sites. Some folks like this site get rich by violating others rights to truth in advertising.

Instant checkmate claims to provide their clients with up to date records on the persons being reviewed, in addition to mugshots and criminal history. The criminal history is the most important to me and I would assume that it would be the main feature most clients would like to utilize. Its a FRAUD! I know because I have a criminal history and checked on myself and the results were non existent. No mugshot and no record. My crime was 2 years ago and I wanted to view my mugshot, however, there were no records even eluding to my arrest. If you are looking for information on someone for employment, living or just "good to know" info, this is not the site. Complete waste of money and time.

I purchased usage of Instant Checkmate to properly fill out a job application that requires even misdemeanor traffic tickets. My first search was successful 8 tickets and I switched screens to see what info to write down. Upon return to the window all criminal/traffic history had vanished. I did three more searches on myself coming up with nothing, then called customer service. Then tried again... and failed. Then called and was told my information was not deemed public and I proceeded to cancel service. The whole time I searched the website was trying to get me to buy into extras. Credit cards will refund your money for dissatisfaction... no need to argue with minimum wage call centers. Instantcheckmate.com is worthless. I searched two other people and ended up with a headache and no satisfaction.

Well, people birthdays came up accurate and maybe street addresses. As far as criminal records - NOTHING FOR ANYONE. I looked people up I know for facts are in or have been to prison. The reports showed nothing. I looked up at least 4 different people that have records and nothing ever comes up. One of them has been in prison now for 3 years and has 20 to go for child molestation. I cannot figure out the use for this site. I did the 6 months unlimited and made a HUGE MISTAKE. I do not believe this to be worth 25 cents. People's marriage info doesn't come up right either. I have absolutely NO TRUST FOR THIS WEBSITE BRINGING ME THE INFORMATION THAT WE ALL PAID FOR. Sorry - this is just my experience.

Paid $22.00 for a one month access to Checkmate. The quality of info was inferior to what anyone could find just using google. There were many hidden charges for the info which one is led to believe will be provided for $22.00. There was an extra charge for "PDF" file of the info so it could be printed. This was $2.00. A colossal ripoff which promised way more than it provides, while trying to sucker the consumer to spend even more money to get "all" the info. I suggest avoiding this scam completely.

When I am trying to enter my information the popup that tries to get me to upgrade my service continually interferes even if I check the box saying I am not interested. Other than that, I am satisfied.

You are going to charge $20 to be on the website and then another $20 to get any real information. That's ridiculous. I am definitely taking my business somewhere else.

Your program offers very little information. I once did a search on your site and it listed no arrests. However further digging revealed the person had spent time in jail for insurance fraud.

I searched this on myself. So I know 100% what you have wrong. You have my ex husband living at my former address (**) which he never lived at that address. I have no idea who Michele ** is NOR why you have linked her to me. There is absolutely NO connection. I paid your extra $1.99 for pdf but the printable report is a joke. You have templates printing on top of information so that it is barely readable. Extremely dissatisfied with your quality and your site. And I haven't even gotten to my information yet. Hah!

I expected more up to date accurate information. I did not realize that more charges would be added for most of the other important information. Just not as good as I would have thought. I tried various people that I know and have known and the information is not worth the charge for it. Just dissatisfied with this service. I would like to discontinue it asap.

I have children. Sought information for background report in order to carefully consider for their well-being. Upon joining one time fee, I found information I could obtain via the internet. They asked for more money for "sensitive information". Further, hidden is the future charges per month. I had to call and cancel in order to keep further charges from my account.
