The site makes the customer think they are getting unlimited, full, detailed background checks for individuals from numerous sources (private and government) for one monthly fee. What they don't tell you is that you have to pay an additional "premium" fee per report to get to that detailed data. Complete ripoff!! The report that you do get for that monthly fee can be pulled using a basic Google search if know how to use Google.

So far so good. Attempting to locate missing classmates from high school after 60 years. Instant Checkmate is fairly easy to use and seems to have a lot of information. Just got started on my search so I will have a better idea of the results later.

Well I guess it could be a little more accurate. Some of the searches didn't even come up. I mean the names I put in the searches came up bogus as hell so I kept trying different locations and they still didn't come up which is impossible. So I don't know but thanks.

I am very happy with my experience on Instant Checkmate. I've been able to find old friends from the military, check out potential roommates, keep track of extended family and find out a little more about my kids' friends and their parents before trusting my children with them. I've already found a sex offender and a felon among "friends".

I paid $35.00 for information promised but did not receive it. Some of the information was inaccurate i.e. arrest records. Arrest records I viewed were on another individual and not myself. I also ordered records of additional individuals but did not receive them as promised by your website. Actually I'd like a refund for the information advertised.

I have had to go through numerous phases to get exactly what you have in your records on me. I came up with my name in different locations with criminal arrests in states where I never lived in. When I choose the person that I wanted to view from the list of options the address information that I received was for that person but with a picture of another person with that name along with the limited that showed included info on 4 other people with the same name. I didn't get the info they advertised. Also, my DOB is not correct.

This company was awesome. Their customer service is second to none. I didn't even ask for a refund. I simply stated I wasn't happy in a review and they contacted me. I simply couldn't get any info I needed and they were quick to refund my money. Good job! More companies need to take the time to make sure their customers are content.

I was billed $22.86 on 7/22/15 and then the next day, billed again for $18.45. Why? If I am going to be billed like that every month, then I will cancel. Also, why is it that you have no information about certain phone numbers or people?

Long Story Short: I agreed & subscribed to: "1st Time Trail $1.99" a month ago! Called back one week later (3 Weeks Ago & Subscribed for "1 Month $11.42" Equaling "$13.41")!!!! Called today to "Cancel Subscription"!! so I'd be sure not to be charged another month by a company that's "Committing Fraud, Lies, Steals", Etc., Etc.!!!! In doing so, I found out that, as of July 18th I've now been charged as stated above, plus: another "$22.86" because my month started the day I did the "Trial" & not "When I Subscribed 3 Weeks Ago"!!!!!

I expected what I got and so I looked for any sign that they would charge me for the 10-minute search they did on me. I wanted to test them to see if they had any validity to their claims so I searched for my own records, which I'm pretty sure I have complete knowledge of! It seemed odd that they completed a several step search. They made me click a button to continue (expecting it finished) to see it go through the several step search for me to click, again... and again... and again... about five times!!! They may be totally honest! I just don't know. I don't trust anyone who makes me do things while expecting it to be no charge and never indicating even ONCE that I would have to pay a lot of money just to see my "test" results! Forget it!!! Even if it may be totally legal, it smells of SCAM to me. I don't like their sneaky business practice and doubt many reasonable people would.

I wish I had not been so trusting in the fine print on what you really get access to on searches. To really get a great search you have to pay extra per search, almost 20 dollars! Misleading info sucks. Only very desperate people will pay that extra amount. Count me out!

One of the reasons I signed up with your service was to see if there were any criminal history records for certain people. I know there is a felony. For example, for Jeremy **, but your service does not show that he has any arrest record! I did a similar test with a couple other people I know have records of felony and they also showed clean on Instant Checkmate.

I accidentally paid the 50 something dollars for the background check when I wanted the reverse phone. For a year now I don't even have the background check and order the reverse phone service. I don't like this at all. Maybe I spent close to 100 and have nothing.

I am quite impressed, as well as pleased! I have been looking for my dear friend and distant cousin to inform him that my Mother in Law Cookie, my wife Jesikah's mother has recently passed away! I am not too sure that Dennis is interested in hearing from me? But I do know he and my wife were very close, as well my Mother, and my Mother in Law just adore him! So I will send a letter to his last two known addresses to inform him of the circumstances of Cookie's Death. Jesikah and I live between Vancouver and Redwood City, as well as in Tucson, AZ. Dennis used to live with us, as well as his Father lived with us too. So it is with great joy I now know that I can contact him and tell him of what has occurred over the nearly 15 years it has been since we last saw one another! The "staging" of data compilation is very dramatic, makes you think you are getting a really thorough report. As expected, before getting the report THEN you are told how much it costs. I sign up for the one-month trial, then get my "report"... only to find out that much of it isn't made available to me until I agree to pay another $20. Some strange stuff too. Report says it has found ## number of people in my area with my same name, yet on the presented list not one is the same name. Same initials, not same name. Other weird stuff too, like astrological symbol and definition. I was curious, knew it was a risk. Ah well. Now I have to see how easy it is to cancel...

I have a friend who moved from California to Alabama 8 years ago and your records still show an address in Los Angeles as his residence. He has had 3 different addresses in Alabama since moving. Eight years is plenty of time for you to get your records correct. I am thinking of discontinuing service as that is not the only incorrect record I have located.

I didn't think I agreed for an upgrade to do a telephone number search to locate the owner name, as I was being harassed by a stranger. It said it was 1.99 a month but what they did was charge me for the entire year. I must have misunderstood that part. Then when I called to express my displeasure about this, he was not friendly and accused me of cutting him off. I then let him speak without saying a word. So I said, "No you didn't explain it that way the first time. You just wanted to cancel my account", and then the phone hung up.
So I called back to complain and after five minutes of being on hold, the same man calls back and claims the call dropped. Even though it took him some time before calling back I said, "I no longer want to speak with you and I want a manager." He said, "Well I am a manager." I said, "I want to speak with one without a nasty attitude." He claimed he refunded the charge But his overall attitude was not one of a normal customer service representative, as I have also worked as one! I have never heard a supervisor speak with such a nasty attitude, other than Comcast. So, I guess their customer service is just as lousy. Thanks but no thanks. I don't want your membership.

In signing up with Checkmate I was looking for more and or detailed information. The service didn't show anything except an address (which is public record already). It didn't provide ANY INFORMATION on record... again which I know of 3 different arrests of this specific person. I already knew more information than what was provided. It's terrible and a total waste of money.

I did find myself but I noticed quite a few errors. My age while searching for the correct name showed my age as being way off, yet my birth date is correct after paying the Premium charge, shows the correct info. Then it lists me as applying for 2 Social Security numbers in the same year. It also lists addresses in areas I have never lived. My ex-wife's first name is spelled incorrectly. There are more errors but I'm not able to remember them all. I'm mainly upset that I feel as if I have been robbed not because of the cost itself because your prices aren't too bad but to have enough correct info to lure me in to pay extra only to find out this program tends to be just a gimmick, and I'm sure you didn't intend it to be this bad. Also it is not fair to the consumer to have to pay the "Premium" charge for each extended search. Come on, I know there's more information to list but it's not like you have an actual person researching each requested individual.

Filed for a background check on a specific person and every step asked for additional charges but had to pay to discover this scam. Service appears to be simply a way to get a customer to continue purchasing more services to get any value from the initial charge.

The access Checkmate promises is a hoax. After paying their fee, the information I found on their website was a matter of public record. There was nothing additional that they provided that I couldn't find myself on 411.com, white pages.com reverse look up. They provided nothing. When I ran my own name, nothing but former addresses showed up, again which were available on public websites. I was then charged extra unknown fee for premium access that I never requested. The access only provided a picture of a Facebook site, again I could find and had located on my own.

I was completely annoyed at how little information I was given on Instant Checkmate. You would think that for almost $23.00 you get more than an address but that's exactly what I got. Arrest records for someone else doesn't help. A list of sex offenders in the area doesn't help. Someone's phone number in another state doesn't help. Not even a complete date of birth was given. Then they have the nerve to try to get even more money out of you for their 'Premium Data'! Really? You want another $20.00 to access information that should have been included in the original fee and I seriously wouldn't expect it to be any more useful than the little bit of info I already received. This site is a total ripoff and really should be banned from the internet. This is one of those sites the government should be looking into for deceptive business practices. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use this site. I feel completely ripped off!!

I ordered what was later described when canceling as "a great deal" with 1/2 price for first month service to get background check completed. What I got was a couple social media profiles along with yellow pages website result and prior addresses. Everything else you'd imagine that would be PART of the check was considered "premium" which would require another $19.99 for the one report. This company is a joke and very deceptive... Steer clear.

I used the trial system for this membership, and then called and cancelled immediately afterwards. The credit card is rarely used and on auto pay. Lo and behold I check it 2 years later, and notice these guys have been billed me 5x more times since then for $59.16. They said they'll call me back to resolve the issue and nothing as of yet. When I called and asked if anyone else used my account they said account had not been used since I set the account up. That alone should be enough to refund the payments they have been charging me with.

I agreed to their one dollar trial subscription. What I got was less than info that I had already found on Google. Worse, the printing in the report was almost illegible. In an effort to clarify it, I clicked on the "premium" button. There was nothing to tell me what the charge would be for that. The info was still illegible.. I canceled the service and asked for a refund of the $20 I had been charged for "premium", Customer Service refused my request. I believe this is a scam, set up to deliberately entice (entrap) people into paying exorbitant fees for nothing..

I was directed to this site by ancestry.com, who I deem reputable, for what was supposed to be a free unlimited trial to end on 7/12/15. After going through a search, before I could get any info it gave me the option to pay for membership. Since they showed great reviews for this site and ancestry.com is reputable and a wealth of knowledge, I thought that this website would be too. Not! I have yet to find any useful information using this site. Many of the things that I'm searching for are either inaccurate, doesn't show on the report or it tells me I can see them if I pay more for an upgraded report. Some of the things in the upgraded report were supposed to be in the standard report. Now, I'm stuck with this membership for six months before I can cancel. I knew I should've just did one month. I will definitely cancel this site as soon as I possibly can.

After reading that I could get a background on whoever, I decided to get one on my wife (just for fun) I paid the 1$ fee for a week's worth of reports only to be asked to pay another fee of $1.99. After paying that, it only gave me her name phone number and addresses. Then I was offered a premium report for $19.99 which I purchased. There was nothing in it!! I just paid $23.00 for no more info than I can get from a phone book. Don't fall for this, it is a ploy to get your money! And you have to call to stop your trial membership. But you can get your horoscope there. I have gotten way more info from my state's repository online FOR FREE!!!

I really do like your site.. It's not very accurate sometimes however I can usually find who I'm looking for. I use it mainly for the women I date and phone numbers.. I don't use it for what assets a person owns mainly for make sure they are who they say they are. My biggest issue is the COST. I purchased a one-month membership online to search for marriage records. Was unsuccessful in finding the records, so I called Customer Care and a nice gentleman explained to me that some states do not view marriage records as 'public' records. I was disappointed that I had purchased a membership, yet was unable to find the info I needed. So, this nice gentleman offered to refund my membership fee, and proceeded to do so while we were on the phone.
In these times, it is rare to find a website that has such good customer service. For this reason, I would recommend www.instantcheckmate.com to anyone who is searching for info on another person. Not only do they have a phone number prominently displayed on their site for people to call, but they are available at this number 24 hours a day! I was very satisfied with the help I received upon calling them, and especially that they offered to refund my money, since it turned out that I would not be able to benefit from the info on their site in my ongoing search. I did a search on myself after paying for 2 different packages. The information was incorrect as to who I had been married to and divorced from. The state that the marriage took place in wasn't even correct. I canceled and sucked up the $19.86 I spent. Lesson learned. The worst part is I am completely inundated with piles of spam from whomever they sell info to. It is non stop and still unending even though I have canceled the service and unsubscribed from any of their feeds. I am currently searching to see if there is a class action against this company. I would add an order number here to verify what I purchased, but that info is not on the site.

I authorized payment via PayPal for a one month trial of their service. On June 29, 2015, at 8:08pm (CST), I called to cancel the service and received a confirmation number to verify the cancellation. In addition, I removed Instant Checkmate from my authorized monthly payments in PayPal. On July 7, 2015, I found that Instant Checkmate had made a debt against my PayPal account. I contacted PayPal, advised them that the charge was unauthorized, had been removed from my authorized charges list, and service cancelled. PayPal is unable to refund to the original source of the withdrawal, can only credit my PayPal account in THREE days. I then contacted Instant Checkmate to ask why the charge was made after the cancellation of service. I was informed that, according to their records, I had TWO accounts.
I advised the representative that I did not ever establish two accounts, only one trial which had been cancelled. The representative said my account(s) were now closed/cancelled and no further charges would be made. It is very annoying that I had to spend so much of my time to contact both companies to get unauthorized charges refunded after I had followed the guidelines and cancelled service within the trial month yet was STILL charged. Now I have to wait for, what should have been an immediate credit, to process, and then go back to transfer the funds back to the original source of payment. I urge people to reconsider using PayPal for reoccurring payments to any company and not to trust Instant Checkmate and their "One Month Trial" offer. You may end up with more than one account being established and additional charges incurred AFTER you actually cancel the service.

The pricing is misleading in that the "unlimited access" reports are so basic it's beyond laughable and one must pay the additional $20 for a "premium report" that contains information easily accessible from other websites as part of their "free" reporting. This was a WASTE of $40! Subpar product and reporting. Will be reporting to BBB. Furthermore, you're not providing "order numbers," which seems convenient for not handling dissatisfied customers. I have been very pleased with the service. I use it locate friends from our childhood and relatives whose addresses we have accidentally lost. It has generally been easy to use although there are sometimes problems downloading the PDF files (this may be a browser issue). I went to the Instant Checkmate site to run a background check on myself. I initially reached the site through a "free online background check" site. The site generate several free "background" reports, but none had information that I really needed to know what's on a full background check. One of the sites listed as good places to run one was Instant Checkmate. I went there, and was suckered into paying $12 for a background check on myself. When the background check ran, it came back with information that was given to me at the other sites (3 or 4 past addresses, my name, that's it).
Whenever I clicked on any "report," the system offered an upgrade - it didn't actually give me a report. Fine. I tried to cancel my account thinking I could get a refund. I tried calling Instant Checkmate, and either their phone is down, or I can't dial an 866 number from Puerto Rico. I tried from a 202 cellphone, and it still didn't go through. I emailed them, and they still haven't gotten back to me. This site is a complete scam.

I have looked up 3 people thus far and none have current phone numbers. Addresses are correct however even with a known number for an individual search comes up as unknown or not valid! I paid a lot and feel as if I paid for the simple, "Displeasure!" Of being baited into upgrading to your premium package! I only went on to see if information was correct about me and I was a bit surprised that you do not have any information about me correct. You have me married to two people I never married while never married to the one I was married to and in the same respect you have me divorcing two different men while never being divorced to the one I was married and divorced from. I joined the site with a trial cost of approx $18 for 1 month. I wanted to search my father's background (he is now deceased). I knew he had been in jail and wanted to know the specifics. Upon receiving a report, and paying an additional $1.99 to be able to download and share with my brothers and sister, I was then offered the additional "premium" report for another $19.99 that would contain this information - total so far approx $40. When I accepted the charge, I was told there was no information and only displayed my brother's info (who has the same name, but lives in another state)!!
Meanwhile, I kinda expected to see some info on my brother because of the uncommon name, but NEVER during the initial inquiry did it come up. The information displayed was only my father's - I knew by age and date of birth. WHY OFFER A PREMIUM REPORT THAT HAD NO ADDED INFORMATION. It's called bait and switch. I do NOT recommend this site for anything. I decided to search "my" information - I don't exist! Go figure.

This company is a typical teaser company that gets you for a low monthly usage fee and then every time you want to use it or obtain more information there is another fee. I attempted to check one person and it started out that I paid the monthly fee. Then I had to pay an additional $1.99 to go to another page. Then to go to a 3rd page, I had to pay $19.99. That is where I stopped so I do not know how many more fees there were for one person. There are many more services out there that are much cheaper on a person by person basis. Did not see anything wrong with the information that I was looking at but did not attempt to verify. I did see some old out of date info that the person gave to me that would not be of any help to someone looking out of the blue for an individual. Just not worth the fees.

I desperately needed information RE: some people around my life. I already knew general information but PAID for "Premium Reports" a great number of times. Just for additional accuracy I checked myself with a "Premium Report." None of the reports requested had even the simplest CORRECT info anyone could find; but, most could not be accessed by "click here." What I DID receive was TOTAL misinformation or NO info Re what I was already slightly aware of. I'm an elderly, disabled widow on a fixed income. You are deceivers and crooks and I should get my money back. Wouldn't recommend you to a pig.

Nice service but I am annoyed that ALL fees were not disclosed in and if they were they were purposely hidden. I was under the assumption that for $30.00 per month I would have access to all of a person's records, including criminal. I was not happy that I had to pay $2.00 for one service then $29.95 for another service and then if I wanted more information from your "teaser" info I would have to pay even more money. At that point I had already paid you so I'm living with it until July 6th and then I am going to a full service background company that will supply all public records to me at one price and it is lower than your one price for a basic search. I feel mislead, bait and switch. Not very good business practice. I will be keeping my eyes open for a future class action lawsuit to join as I am sure that someone will eventually sue your company.

I recently signed up for a subscription to Instant Checkmate. I ran a background check on myself and it turned up an arrest record that had been ordered by the courts to be sealed and expunged. I then searched for 2 friends who I KNOW have criminal records and who did not have their records expunged and nothing came up. This website's database is out of date and hit-or-miss at best. Don't waste your money here.

Chose Instant Checkmate because it was supposedly rated #1 on Top 10 website, which now appears to be an advertising website. Cancelled the Instant Checkmate account after an hour. Ran a criminal background check and no useful results came up except a pop up claiming that more comprehensive information was available for an additional $19.95, paid that and still nothing. So I ran some background checks on individuals that I know have felony convictions and have been to prison just to check the accuracy of this site and according to Instant Checkmate, they have a clean criminal record. If anyone is relying on the information on this site, they are making a huge mistake. It should clearly be marketed as "for entertainment purposes only" especially with the ever important feature of being able to check to see if someone has a compatible horoscope sign.

I cancelled the account after first charge and then charged again twice. Customer service is terrible - didn't want to refund money. They said I created 2 accounts - one charge from my card and one from my PayPal account but both charges were from my PayPal not my card. They still didn't refund. They are scam artist. Never use their assistance and all they want is extra money for more info you ask for... SCAM SCAM SCAM.

It crashes constantly. The past week I could not get to the dashboard at all because every time it would crash and say that the dashboard had to reload but it never did reload because it crashes in the process!!! Consistent problem with choosing to put a phone number as opposed to a name when conducting a search. You seem to have an aversion to phone look-ups and it pisses me off! 9 times out of 10, after I provide the info for who I want background on, your site starts the search, kind of disappears. Then when it reappears it acts as if I had not just typed in the name or number or whatever info I gave and I HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Your service is probably the worst of its kind and I am only using you because it's paid for already but as soon as my membership is over - I am out of here!!! Unless of course you miraculously decide to respect your customers and fix ALL of your annoying, frustrated, rude, inconsiderate problems!!

I looked up my nephew's address in Knob Noster, MO and it shows that he is living with his father in New Bloomfield, MO and he has lived in Knob Noster the last four years plus. So your records are not up to date. I bet you 10 to 1 if I went to Intelius I would get the correct information.

Did a report. Did not show any speeding tickets that I knew should be there. Called them. Was told that the DMV's do not supply them with this information. WHAT the website, as well as while you are waiting for the report says it does. Nothing current.

I cancelled my account ten minutes after logging in. The first background check I did was on myself. Most of the information was not up to date at all. It did not have any accurate marriage records and address info. Checking a few family members resulted in the same findings--inaccurate, old information. I am certainly not going to pay an additional cost of 19.95 to access "premium reports" if the basic report, costing 17.87 was inaccurate not to mention an additional charge for use of PdF file. I was certainly very dissatisfied. What exactly did I pay for?

It advertises a reasonable price for a one month unlimited access, but charges more for once you are in to get detailed information. I would have gone with a competitor's price if I could receive all the information at once, and would appreciate an honest company. I feel I was scammed.

I signed up for this service since my husband and I were going through background checks and were curious to see what was out there on us. I paid for the subscription after about 10 minutes of download bars on my screen (page after page of the same download over and over again). Then I get a message saying that the information I purchased is different from what it claims on its webpage. If I want that stuff it's another $19.99 on top of the $59.16 I just spent and $1.99 for the PDF versions (all separate charges, by the way).
I get into the reports and I find that everything is not only wrong, but public records from the county I live in and was married in are missing. It still has my maiden name as my true name (I have been married 14 yrs already). There are phone numbers attached to my name that I have never even heard of. Divorce records don't exist on my page but they do on my ex-husband's page (for Florida). We were married and divorced in Oregon and never even traveled to Florida. The divorce date was also wrong. I can't even list everything that was wrong or missing on this report. It wasn't just me either. I looked up my spouse and my ex-spouse (since I know the information that should and should not be there). All of it was wrong except names and DOB.
I called Customer Service within 10 minutes to cancel my subscription and they gave me the runaround. They were going to keep all my money and just cancel the automatic renewal. I said I did not feel that was good enough. I wanted a full refund and a cancelled subscription. Then they offered half a refund. Still not good enough. I went through this for a while. I was put on hold 3 times total since the start of the call and was finally worn down to a charge of $9.95 and a 1 month subscription that I will not use.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. The information they use is outdated, incorrect, and they do not want to refund your money if you call them out on the fact that they have promised something that they cannot deliver. The only thing they got right was my first name, my DOB and my astrological sign (Why the heck is that even part of a criminal background check?). BTW, my husband's sign was wrong, if that even matters.

Updated on 07/02/2015: I received a phone call from Checkmate customer service. They offered to refund any and all money I had spent on the site for information and to remove me from their site. I agreed to the settlement. Am currently waiting for refund, supposed to be here in 3-5 days. If they follow through, I will be satisfied.

I know for a fact the person has been arrested, but I wanted to see how many times and exactly what location. This showed no arrests for the person. It did show the people he was related to, which was accurate, but didn't even know his address that he lived at for 25 years.

Too many "Add-ons" for "PREMIUM" service. Information I received, I already had and it was FREE. D/L'd the PDF file of 158 pages 40 were blank, about 50 pages were duplicates and triplicates. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Wound up "spending" over 50$ for a "INSTANT CHECK". "Supposedly" was only $1.99 fee, wound up costing over 50$. I contacted Instant Checkmate about the "LOUSY" results. They contacted me and stated, A supervisor would be contacting me within 24-48 hours and REFUNDING my fee within 24-48 hours. WELL, it's been 72 hours and NO CONTACT also NO REFUND??? INSTANT CHECKMATE is a TOTAL RIPOFF!!! AVOID this site like the EBOLA VIRUS!!!

Misleading and inaccurate. Very disappointed in this site. Start out with " basic report" that's one price. Then if you want to download as PDF, another charge. So, run the report and it shows next to nothing. I ran numerous subjects/family knowing their information. Apparently the site can't find the information unless you upgrade for ANOTHER FEE! Even then it is very sparse and incomplete. The site touts that "other" sites charge more for one report than they do for unlimited. Ha! I also was concerned with the outdated information on Sex Offenders nearby. I know of at least one living close that was not listed. My opinion is PASS on this site. It is a total waste of time and money.

The website lures you in by promising a full, detailed report. By the time it's revealed to you that this requires membership and payment, you've invested so much time waiting for your information to process that it's hard to say 'no.' I'm sure that was the company's intent with this design. Once I paid $15-ish for a month of access, I realized my report contained essentially NOTHING. I had searched myself and was very curious, so I paid $19.99 more and the only information I was given can easily be looked up for free... sex offenders in my area and my horoscope...really? Their system didn't even track a single parking ticket or my one speeding ticket. I really wish I could get my money back because I did not receive a single piece of useful information that I couldn't get elsewhere for free.
Now what really horrifies me - upon paying, I was led to believe I was purchasing 1 month of service. In the confirmation email, I see: "A (1-month) membership is billed ($14.84) immediately upon purchase and ($14.84) every month thereafter until you cancel." I did not consent to being charged on a monthly basis and the language used upon payment is intentionally hiding this fact. I will be cancelling immediately.

I signed up to get some basic information on one person. I got nothing. The information returned was either incomplete, very old and/or useless. So I tried it again and decided to do searches on myself and other people. Again, the information gathered was almost valueless to nothing. They "fluff up" the page to look like it is gathering or information searching but when the page fully loads, it loads with empty fluff to look busy when there is no valuable or workable information to give you leads for further research. Then of course it wants you to pay for more information or an "upgraded" service.
I did not go ahead with this anymore as it pulled out nothing in the preliminaries so I am sure it will be more waste of money. The most information I got was a listing and mug shots of all the sex offenders in the area which you can get for free on other websites. Overall the service was useless, a waste of time and money. I called the next day to cancel my automatic subscription and was told and reminded that "on every page in the website there is a disclaimer that says nothing is 100% accurate." Of course, they can fill up the pages with useless information and sell it to you...

I must admit that it came as a pleasant surprise to me to get such a rapid response to my complaint. A Instant Checkmate representative contacted me by phone and apologized for my dissatisfaction with their services. Not only did they offer to return all that was charged to my debit card, but they sent their offer to me by email, so I could have something in writing, for my peace of mind. I may have vented a bit too much in registering my complaint and I am proud to say that all is well now. I have no problem in changing my initial star rating indicating my renewed faith in humanity.

I ran across a recommendation for Instant Checkmate online May 31, 2015. After signing in for what I thought was a trial period of 30 days for free, I found your services did not offer me the information I needed without one upcharge after another upcharge. It seemed to me a bait and switch sort of scam so I canceled the next day, June 1, 2015. Still, thinking your basic service was free and available until 30 days were up, I visited your site a couple of more times, hoping there was some information useful to me, on your website. I did fall prey to one of your upsales hoping it offered something of use, agreeing to pay $1.99. It did not.
I once did a reverse phone look up while on your site, something that is absolutely free on the white pages website. I find out today, June 17, 2015, when reviewing my bank statement that that free reverse phone look up cost me $23.95 and I find I am paying you another $11.40 just to sign in to visit your website. If this does not reach the definition of rip off, I don't know what does. It is obvious that most, if not all of your great reviews are phoney. It must be pretty profitable charging these prices to unsuspecting people simply because you have access to their credit/debit card. I intend to complain to the BBB and any other organization I can think of. My experience with your company has left me a little poorer but a lot wiser.

A simple google search or a glance at Spokeo.com will give you as much, if not more, than their high-priced search. That would be ok-ish, I guess, if they didn't make it so hard to cancel and constantly tried to upsell services. Would not recommend.

I signed up for Instant Checkmate on Friday. Checked a few names and the service provided no information that could not be found for free many other places. I cancelled a few hours later on the same day. I was told on the phone that I would receive a cancellation email immediately. I received no email. I called the next day and was told that it would take 24 hours to sent the email. This is now the 3rd day and nothing received. I also told the agent to cut me off immediately so I could NOT log in anymore. I can still log in. The agents lie to you on the phone. I will be contacting the BBB, ConsumerAffairs, and the Attorney General because these people are CROOKS!

If a woman's married name is not known, such as a friend from school, many years ago, she cannot be located. Also, only basic information is provided. Anything else is an extra charge. Very disappointed. Will be cancelling soon.

First off I never received a confirmation for my credit card payment. Nor did I receive anything via my email. Yet I was charged anyway. Their information of reports are very incomplete. Most of the information I was looking for can easily be found on other similar search sites for far less and you get complete and accurate information. You pay almost 30.00 dollars for a report that most likely will show old outdated info. In order for you to view the report that you paid for they slam you with another 2.00 dollar fee they call an "administrative fee" just to download a simple PDF file. This site is a con. When you finally get to view this report the majority of the information you are looking for is hidden in another charge "upgrade" button fee. You have to once again pay another fee just to get a more detailed report.
Now the area I checked to pay was for a "so called-unlimited monthly report". This is misleading because it makes you think you can do unlimited searches on people for a month. NO, you only get to view the person's report for up to a month. Steer clear of this service. There are a whole lot of other sites out there more reputable online who give you very accurate information on people.
Something else I would like to add here. They put all these little disclaimers on their site saying that none of the information they provide is to be used against an individual for tenant/rent purposes, or for employment, or other type circumstances. There is absolutely no guarantee that the people looking up these records won't in fact use this against an individual. I personally feel that there needs to be more safe guards with people's information and privacy than simply putting up some disclaimer.

Information was 6 years old. For any truly useful information you have to pay additional moneys. Beware!! Even a one month subscription is automatically renewed until you call and cancel!! It accepted an inaccurate email so when I tried to get a second report a few days later I was expected to pay again. Totally useless as far as I am concerned.

Overall, I like this service. However, it's disappointing that there is an absence of info in the "Licenses" section & no or inaccurate info about the exact relationship of names listed along with the primary name I have searched. The horoscopes...really? I know it's from your history as a dating site, but for its useless and frequently incorrect. Also, although interesting, the number of sex offenders ought to be - and is - on a separate site. The site gives me ages, locations (which I can then plug in to Zillow or Google Maps) and criminal records. Pretty good. Would like to see the site cleared of useless stuff like Sections 4, 5 & 6. Hope this is helpful.

To test this "Service" I submitted the name of a person I know has some arrest warrants and jail time. Should have been easy for them to locate the information. Only info found was for 4 tickets, nothing on his jail time. Nothing to show he doesn't work but still affords a car and gas and has more gadgets than most people. This guy lives better than most, but where does he get his income and why was he in jail (county?), but no useful information in checking on him.

I signed up for instant checkmate.com. First, it appeared to be free, so I entered the information I was looking for. Then, when I tried to process it, I was stopped in order to pay $59 for a 6 month subscription. Thinking I would use this a lot being a business manager, I went ahead and signed up. Then I tried to get the information and found out I could only get all the information they had previously offered for an additional $1.99 per month.
I, like an idiot, paid that also. Finally I got information. EXCEPT all the information I got was from EVERY person in the United States with the same, or nearly the same, as the name I was looking for. Over 100. They had the exact name and address I wanted but gave me this ridiculous list. Oh well, I went through the list and found the person, who, by the way, was myself. This was a test to see what they did or did not find. When I clicked on myself, they AGAIN asked for more money for a complete report. THIS IS A MONEY SCAM.

This is the biggest scam. They have no more information than you can get with a Google search and what they do have is outdated and inaccurate. It's too bad there is a negative star option, as they don't even deserve 1 to show ANGRY. Also, if you signed up with PayPal make sure you go to PayPal and cancel the autopay there. These fools tells you they will cancels it, however they do not. So make sure you do it yourself. STAY AWAY FROM THESE LIARS!

Paid $18 to find out that the only way I was going to get any information was to buy a "Premium Report". Be prepared to slide down the slippery slope of coughing up more money for empty "reports" that you can only see if you pay more to see them.

There have been two instances, like right now, where the names I searched for and were displayed were not saved to the dashboard! I can save them to my PDF file, but the program refuses to save certain names at certain times to the Dashboard. The tech at tech support had no idea why that was happening. I called back and got customer service and suddenly started working again. Now, it is not - WHY?

This is my first visit and use of your site. Like most people, I just wanted to see what was out there on me. At first I got a wrong person, then I got the report on me. I spoke with ** at customer service and he was terrific and took off the charges for the incorrect person, who had no financial data anyway. While you certainly seem to have every address I have ever had, there are reports missing. Twice there were missing person reports filed and once I was put on a 72 hr hold. There are probably a few other things too. The absence of those reports is okay with me but it shows that your service is not exhaustive. Thank you very much.

I received an email touting the amazing reports that could be dug up on anyone. It also referred to a "free" introductory period. I hold a security clearance, so my background is reviewed thoroughly on a periodic basis. I figured that I would run a free check on myself. After 15 minutes of providing information, searching for the right "me" and watching download icons slowly scroll ahead, the site said that my report was ready. It also said that I had to pay as they have bills to pay too. What seemed to be promotional (and free) is just an elaborate scam to get you to run a PAID report on someone.

Bought a Groupon for instantcheckmate.com for $10 for a month of unlimited checks. Used the supplied website to enter in my info, which is my name and credit card info (because the site renews your membership after the month unless you cancel) and clicked redeem my Groupon. The site said there was a problem processing my order, and brought me back to the main page to purchase a month for $22. I called Instant Checkmate, and they said that I need to get in touch with Groupon, which I did. When I clicked on the red X to close out their site, it gave me an offer for a 5 day trial for $1. Well, that's just too good to pass up. So I went ahead and signed up for the $1 trial. Entered in all my info and my CC numbers, and it took me to their main page again where I need to enter in all that info again.
I looked up my bank statement and they had charged me for the $1. Now, I'm not going to go broke because of this, but when I tried to log back into my $1 account, it said no account for that email found. Again, called Checkmate and they ended up refunding my $1. When asked about the Groupon account, they said there was no such thing as a Groupon for Instant Checkmate (which I am staring at on my screen). I hope to get refunded by Groupon, but in the meantime, I would steer clear of their Groupon, and "special $1 offers". Worst website since AOL.

You give bogus info that has nothing to do with the name I gave. Example gave you my husband's full name & birthdate (he worked 4 LAPD & sher. dept.) "You" gave me his sons. It's a waste of paper to get a report with info you don't want. Arrest info of others. Never give legal title info. I showed up as impostor on my husband's file. Etc.

They advertise a special trial period of 5 days for just $1.00 - I created my acct on 5/26 and was billed the $1.00 charge on 5/26. You have to keep adding more money in order to access anything helpful so I found the site unhelpful. I called in and cancelled the acct at 3am on 5/30 and received written confirmation (which btw took 15 minutes and even including providing my cc info to them again). Yet on 6/1, my bank account was charged an additional $29.63. I called them about the charge and though their operator ** clearly stated "The date you were billed is the date you created the account," they are sticking to their action of charging me the $29.63 prior to the end of the 5-day trial period. Apparently there really is no Trial Period. Or if there is one - they mean it's a 4-day trial, not 5. Consumers, Beware!

I tried Instant Checkmate just to see what information may be out there about me. I found that the information listed in the majority of cases which totally inaccurate. I also tried family members and found those to be just as inaccurate. In over 90% of the cases the information on marriages, divorces, and criminal acts did not apply to the people listed. And much information was not found that was in the same category as information that was found. You were also asked to pay for additional information on your searches. I did not know how many times I would be asked for additional money and did not opt for any additional services. The $22 I paid was a total waste of money and I'm glad I did not sign up for more than one month.
It is inconceivable to me for this website to have as many positive reviews as it does based on the information I got on five people well-known to me. Most of the accurate information received was useless as it was common information available from many other free sources on the Internet, the rest was information that did not apply to the person listed and would have to be filtered out through hours of research. I would never rely on any information found from this source without checking it extensively which makes the information useless.

In the top listing, my middle name is NOT shown but lower down it is. I did NOT find any surprises in this report and will say it is 100% accurate, from what I saw. I do think any individual should be given a free viewing of their own profile and the chance to offer any corrections. I did NOT find any to make other than all the arrest records show black men and I am NOT a black male. This could cause some people to think maybe they didn't get the right person.

This is an update to my original review. The company noted my dissatisfaction and were quick to respond and offer a refund. It's for their customer service that I increased the star rating. However, I stand by my comment that for the membership fee, one doesn't get any more information than one could acquire by Googling, and after paying that fee, expecting an in depth report, one is advised that an additional fee for "premium" service is required.
If you have the money to spare, then go for it. I am on a fixed income, and was just using this on a whim to see what might be out there about myself, and or family members. Perhaps if I needed to do a background check on a suitor it might be worth it. However, as previously mentioned, I applaud Instant Checkmate for their concern and offer of a refund.

I was one of those dumb people scammed by this site. I was doing this more in line with trying to find members of my wife's family. The information received is NOT as advertised. On top of this, they nickel and dime you to death. First they charge close to a $30.00 fee / per month, (lower prices if you're crazy enough to go with a longer term), then if you want the report in a PDF format, that's another $2. The information provided is virtually worthless, (can be found with basic search engines). BUT!! If you want more information you can pay another $20 to get that, and there's no guarantees there either. Total Ripoff.

Correct information: My name, address, phone, social media, most relatives, no bankruptcy, and no arrests. Inaccurate information: Divorce date same as marriage (was married 5 years) related people were falsely identified with arrest records. Missing information: Marriage of last 13 years, grown children, assets, tickets, business licenses, 2 major lawsuits from car accident (but you included a document from a resulting hospital bill), any previous addresses. Horoscope information: My husband & I have been happily married, together for 20 years! Your love meter stated it would not last. In conclusion: your data could all be found on google with better accuracy.

I thought my report would contain marriage/divorce records, but instead it contained other people's marriage and divorce records with the same name in different states even though I had the correct person I was looking for. It didn't even have the person I was searching for marriage record at all and I KNOW there is one. I even searched the spouse/ex-spouse and got the same thing. This report helped me in absolutely no way at all! Wasted my money.

When I first started using this site I could find more than than I can now. I also do not like fact that I cannot email to ask you questions, that I have to call. I know things about some of these people that have been arrested numerous times and yet the report says, "There are no known arrest records for the individual." I had a list of 30 people to find for my class reunion. The information listed on the website is so old, it wasn't very helpful. I found 1 person so far. I've left some messages to hear whether it's who I'm looking for or not. I don't plan on using your services again. I have used this service in the past & I must say... it is nowhere what it used to be in terms of complete data, i.e., phone #'s are not there, very little of any "whole/complete data". As a matter of fact I was going to call customer service & request my funds credited.. and we are good. DO NOT SELL MY EMAIL ADDRESS. Your attention & time to this matter is appreciated.

I registered and paid for Instant Checkmate so I could pull a public records request on a man I was looking to date. The record that came back from Instant Checkmate showed that he had a simple driving record issue, not much to be concerned about at the time. A friend of mine ended up doing a background check as well that included all public records, and lo and behold, a sex charge came up that was public record in Michigan. I understand that some things are easier to bring to the public record attention than others, however, this was a huge oversight.
I believe Instant Checkmate is misleading in how they market their product. They require you to pay extra for specific upgrades (which I did) and want to ensure that they continue to rake in your cash ad they give no reminders that you will be charged again from their company until you see the charge show up in your bank account for $29.95 per month. A ridiculous cost for something available to all of us at no charge typically (due to them pulling only public records). You can enroll online for the service, but if you want to cancel your account you have to call the representatives to do so. When I called to cancel my account it was less than 24 hours after the second month had started and I had already been billed, however, they would not refund my money even though I would not be using their service any longer.
When I informed the staff member that I felt like they were misleading and that the background screen that I pulled did not reveal the public records in its entirety, I was very quickly reminded that the service they provide is simply pulling public records and that it cannot be used for employment purposes. I very quickly replied as well that I was checking on an ex-boyfriend that I had been wanting to date. I also explained to them that it is shady that they do not send a reminder email before they deduct funds from an account and that they are not willing to adjust a subscription when somebody calls to cancel their account within 24 hours of being billed for it. I would NOT recommend going with this company as they are not thorough in the public records request that is completed and are only in this to make money without regard for the service they are providing in return.
