I give one because I can’t give “0”. The customer service was really bad, they take for at least 10 minutes to come to the front for a return, they are rude and the policy is really ridiculous when they not even have a fitting room. And the prices are more expensive than the retail stores. I will try my best to never come back. Thanks for nothing 😡 P. D. I leave the merchandise and the receipt in the store.

I love the Goodwill in Alliance Ohio, It's is my favorite one. Everyone is nice and helpful, even the managers and on the 9th when I was there one of the managers got jumped on for no reason by three customers cussing at her and yelling at her. It was uncalled for and I hope this company does not believe every bad review, because all of it was unnecessary, and she did not deserve that, Trish if you see this in with you girl stay strong.

I believe this store is overpricing their men’s jeans when women’s are half the price. I’ve seen rural king jeans priced higher than brand new ones. If any goes to check their CEO annual salary maybe that’s why lol. I understand making money but when your merchandise is free and by the people of the community they should stop taking advantage of their male shoppers. Or is it they're discriminating against men?

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to pay Boutique Manhattan prices for items your grandma donated in 2004, just take a stroll through Goodwill. I walked in hoping to find a cheap T-shirt and walked out questioning the entire global economy—because apparently, a faded shirt with a mystery stain is now worth $12.99. The real treasure hunt isn’t finding a bargain; it’s finding anything that isn’t priced like it was personally blessed by a celebrity.

My personal favorite was the used shoes—clearly worn during someone’s entire cardio journey—marked at a bold, confident $19.99. Truly inspirational. If inflation ever needs a spokesperson, Goodwill is ready. At these prices, I’m convinced Goodwill is secretly auditioning to become a luxury retailer. Any day now, they’ll start handing out complimentary champagne as you browse the $7 coffee mugs from 1998. But hey, if you’ve ever wanted to experience the thrill of paying full retail for items that were literally donated for free, Goodwill has you covered.

I had a really disappointing experience at Goodwill Joplin Missouri recently. I found a small vintage Avon bottle clearly marked 99¢. When I got to the counter, the cashier suddenly changed the price to $4.99, saying she “didn’t have a homewares sticker” for 99¢ so she used a shoe sticker. I told her I wasn’t paying more than what it was marked. She called the manager, and when I explained what happened, the manager looked at the bottle and said, “This is Avon. It shouldn’t be .99 or 4.99,” and then just walked away without helping or offering any explanation. She was very rude. Price switching at the register and rude customer service are unacceptable. I’m not a reseller — I just liked the design — but honestly, that shouldn’t matter. Customers should be able to trust the price on the item. I filed a complaint, but based on this experience, I don’t feel like they care. They are getting so greedy. Sadly, I won’t be returning to this store.

I took pic of the tag and was told to come back at opening the next day and purchase it. I returned the next morning with $11. I was told to come back at 12:30pm when another manager was on duty to buy. Not sure what's going on, it's just a $10 purchase. I returned yet again and was then told I would have to pay $15. I told them I had the price tag on my phone from previous night and they called me a liar. I had it on my phone. I had to purchase it for $15 anyway. Very shady at the Smyrna, Tn Goodwill. I dealt with 3 managers in charge and none could make a $10 decision even with a tag on it. I think they owe me a $5 apology for how I was treated.

I can get a brand new one at a book store on clearance or Ollies for that or less. The line was backed up with more that 5+ customers and she just took her sweet time coming to the help, (other cashier called 2xs for help) and getting started. I was not* the only one complaining. Been donating at Goodwill stores for years, often high quality merchandise in excellent condition. Sometimes found it difficult because the store would stop taking donations saying they had no room. Sometimes they would say there weren't accepting anything. Yesterday I donated at the Albany Ca, store and was told they no longer give receipts for donations and you have to text a number for a receipt or scan. I tried both repeatedly, they do not work, in fact the text number has the busy signal and does not accept texts. I will no longer donate there, the Salvation Army is a better outfit anyway and not for profit as Goodwill is.

HOWEVER, they don't have anywhere to try clothes on (my grandson was with me), so I bought 2 shorts so he could try them on at home and then I would return one. I used my credit card for the purchase, but when I returned one shorts, they gave me a gift card instead of refunding my credit card! They don't tell you that up front, so then you either lose that money, or buy something else that you don't want, or give it away (which is still a loss to me). This Monday, October 20, 2025 I went to the Goodwill in Hampton, Virginia to see if I could find items that I wanted to purchase. To my disappointment and disgust I saw the bins had both trash and dirt in them. The clothes they had for sale smelled something awful and looked like something you would find in the trash. I understand this section of Goodwill is the bargain bin side but this is just wrong. You can tell the employees didn't sort through anything. I found molded food in some of the bins. Some of the stuffed toys were dirty and smelled to the point I almost got sick to my stomach.

I pointed this out to a couple of employees and they looked at me like I was bothering them and walked off. So I found their manger and explained to her what I had found. The manager said she would take care of the situation but as she walked away I heard her say something in a whisper, but I couldn't make it out. By the expression on her face as she walked off it didn't seem pleasant. It could be that the manager herself is fed up with these disappointing employees. I use to love coming to this Goodwill but in less than a year it has declined. Just because you make the checkout more presentable doesn't dismiss the shameful way they present this Goodwill and the items they sell. I will never come here or donate to this Goodwill again. As someone who has long appreciated Goodwill’s mission to provide affordable goods and job opportunities to those in need, I’ve noticed a troubling shift in recent years. Prices on most items have steadily increased, making many of the decent, usable pieces—clothing, furniture, and household goods—simply unaffordable for the very people Goodwill claims to serve. What was once a reliable source of low-cost essentials now feels more like a boutique with thrift store branding.

🔖 Discount Tags Disappearing The weekly color tag discounts used to be a great way to stretch a tight budget. Lately, however, it seems that the 50% off tags are mysteriously absent from anything remotely desirable. What’s left are items that are either damaged, outdated, or clearly unwanted—raising questions about whether the discount system is being manipulated.

💍 Valuable Items Diverted to Online Auctions Jewelry, watches, rings, and high-end electronics rarely make it to the store shelves anymore. Instead, they’re sent to Goodwill’s national headquarters to be listed on their auction site, where prices are often driven up far beyond what a local shopper could afford. This practice prioritizes profit over accessibility and undermines the idea of community support.

💼 Executive Compensation vs. Frontline Workers Perhaps most disheartening is the disparity in wages. While frontline employees work hard for modest pay, the CEO of Goodwill Industries International reportedly received a compensation package exceeding $710,000 in 2023. That level of executive pay in a nonprofit organization—especially one built on donations and low-wage labor—feels deeply out of step with its stated values.

Greed Over Good – Goodwill Is No Longer What It Used to Be. Goodwill has gone completely downhill. What used to be a place for affordable second-hand goods and real community support has turned into a nickel-and-dime operation focused on profit over people. Prices have skyrocketed on everything – they’re literally charging near-retail prices for broken-down, outdated junk. It’s insulting. The electronics section is the worst. You can’t test anything before you buy it, and nine times out of ten, the stuff doesn’t even work. Yet somehow, they’re slapping top-dollar price tags on these mystery boxes like it’s Best Buy. Spoiler alert: it’s not.

What happened to the mission? Goodwill now feels like it’s being run by corporate fat cats who just want to squeeze every last cent from donated items – yes, donated. They didn’t pay a dime for this stuff, but they’ll sure try to charge you like they did. This isn’t charity anymore. It’s greed dressed up in a nonprofit label. Avoid if you value your time, money, or common sense.

Customer care has also went downhill and donations are handled poorly. I see less and less special need workers working too. I would rather donate and support a local thrift store now. Here's the problem: Goodwill needs to hire a large number of staff to run their 24/7 online auction, but the number of knowledgeable staff is insufficient to run a top-notch, continuous online auction. The items they photograph are not well represented, from the images to the descriptions. Often, they sell damaged items, take photographs that misrepresent, and mislead through descriptions.

Over two years, I purchased regularly through the online auction. When an item was damaged, they would have numerous excuses for not accepting a return. More often than not, their favorite was "Thank you for donating to Goodwill," inferring I wasn't purchasing an undamaged item, I was donating $$ to them. I even had an item that was damaged during a pick-up, and they admitted it was damaged on the way out the door. Again, "Thank you for your donation."

When you donate your items to Goodwill, they go to a central processing center where they may be auctioned or redistributed to stores that need certain items. You may think you are giving to your community, but what is happening is that you are feeding a large "non-profit" with a net worth of $93,000,000. So, while they may be growing to provide programs, jobs, etc. They are also an organization that doesn't believe they have customers, only donors.

And, this is why you can't find the same quality goods in their stores; it goes to an online auction that costs the consumer even more. Those who show in their brick-and-mortar stores are getting the leftovers. The way they are serving the community is costing it more and more each year. While the prices for goods skyrocket, the money in the bank for those in need remains to be seen. The poor remain poor, and the price of resale items just goes up. The online auction makes many donations unaffordable.

Goodwill can't have it all and be reputable. Either they are running a reputable online auction, or they are asking for monetary donations. Or, they are running a quality brick-and-mortar that offers their best goods at a fair price. This is the problem. Currently, they are taking a few amazing donations and maximizing the profit, but mostly selling mediocre goods, pumping up the price through an auction platform, and making the public pay for their 'mistakes', all from the point of view that a purchase is also a donation. The rest of the tired, poor quality goods go to the many locations around the world, and to your very neighborhoods. Goodwill doesn't care about their customers. Please! Think twice. Think three times before buying through their online auction.

Goodwill used to be a great place to shop for low income families. You could always count on finding something when you never had enough money to buy stuff for your grandchildren or maybe a nice outfit for yourself. Wow did these people get greedy. You going there and can't even afford anything. It's better to go to a thrift store or catch a sale at one of your major stores. The advertised that they give jobs to people and everything. Well not in Clermont Florida or Ocoee Florida. People that have working for them are downright rude they act like they're working in some five-star clothing store or jewelry department the way they treat you now.

I can't even afford a dress that's decent because most of their stuff is thrown all over the place that has stains or rips and just because it has a name brand on it they are going to charge as much as they can for that particular item. All they do is look at the name of the brand. They don't care what condition it's in they don't do anything for anybody and I know a lot of people out here that need jobs. They have seen how much they can sell these items for and because there are a lot of people that do reselling they have jacked it up so high that not the resellers nor people that just don't have a lot of money at all can even afford to buy something there. The only people that can afford to buy things there and really dig through items to find something unstained or ripped is people that already have a lot of money.

I will never ever donate to them and we have passed the word around to try and stop as many donations as we can because of the greed of the ownership of these companies. You are getting these things from people for free and you are going to jack up the prices to almost three quarters of what it cost in a store whether it's stained, ripped or anything just because it has a name branded on it. I pray and pray that they go out of business completely. Not just some of their stores but all of their store so people will start donating to churches and to thrift stores that actually care about people and families that don't have anything or can't afford those prices.

Goodwill is the wrong name because they're not a good will company. They don't care because people keep dropping stuff off to them for free so they can make billions of dollars and charge as much as they can to the needy. Satan has taken them and their owners over. I'm not a weird Christian person that is freaking out over the devil or anything like that either. It just makes my stomach sick that they make money off of this free items and don't give anything especially when they have those days of half off for green, blue, red, yellow you barely ever can find anything for half off and please don't go on the weekend because if you find 20 items in that entire store you're lucky and it's probably crap that no one wants. What a scam and a ripoff they are. I hope again and pray that they go under. All of them.

No treasures left to find, so what's the use? All you are going to find is junk that corporate didn't take for the online auction. I used to be a BIG goodwill shopper but their corporate killed it. It's all you hear people talking about in the aisles. They complain about the raised prices on lesser quality stuff.

Shame on you Goodwill, since 1902 you were dedicated in helping those that could not afford the average cost of living, so you reached out to those that gave gracefully to you NOT FOR PROFIT organizations. Those gifts were given from the goodness of individual's heart, pockets and spirits. Now we find that average people cannot afford your prices, these gifts were given not for the Goodwill to necessarily make a PROFIT, but to help those in need. Now, we find whatever we donate to your organization, has become a FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION.

I as a faithful donor will no longer give to Goodwill, rather donations or charities, of cash. I have been an observer in your stores only to find, you have not meet the name or should be classified as a NOT FOR PROFIT, but a FOR PROFIT.  Your prices have become very expensive, and 40% of your merchandise is beyond reach so your shoppers are going to regular stores to receive it NEW and not USED.

Shame on you, I have started giving my items to the homeless shelters or Rise community centers, any center other than the Goodwill. You have lost me as a shopper, customer. I wanted to purchase today, but seeing how your prices are rising every day, I felt the need to get this out to you. You have taken away just simple things given to simple poor people to afford a wore pair of shoes or a pair of pants because they can't afford it new, at one time Goodwill was the place to go when you didn't have, now you have become the place they can't afford, even USED. How much dignity will you take from your organization, when you at one time stood for helping the POOR. Shame on you.

I purchased a teapot from the Woodbury Goodwill in Minnesota that was taped shut. When I got it home under the lid it was shattered. I returned to the store and I was told, (with a smirk!) that their policy is "no refunds whatsoever". Exchange only, and you will not be refunded the extra change if you can't come up with the exact total in merchandise on that day only. There are no dressing rooms in the store, one or two dirty mirrors, The merch is dusty threadbare polyester packed onto the rack. Sullen, snide and unhappy workforce golems, and stoney faces on most of the people shopping. I saw yesterday a pair of out of style rayon pants for $50, and a women's suit for $79.99, Used. I have shopped second hand for the last 50 years. I have a sharp eye for both quality and corporate greed.

Wikipedia: "Goodwill's tax returns showed that more than 100 Goodwills pay less than minimum wage while simultaneously paying more than $53.7 million in total compensation to top executives." The market is ripe for a fairly priced resale organization with dressing rooms. I would be there often. I myself donate to places where my second hand items in good shape are actually given to clients, along with other help getting people back on their feet. Places that reward me with great finds and people that are a joy to be with. One workaround these abusive "Goodwill" policies is to buy yourself a little time and exchange your returned item for an exactly priced similar one. That item gives you another two weeks to find something at one of these stores. One star for a business I wish would go away soon.

I was told they would not sell me the 1 wire and I had to buy the whole bag of useless wires. It would yield more money for them and help customers if they priced each wire separately but this is what happens when greed sets in. They want $10.00 for a bag of useless wires. This is so frustrating to someone who has been so loyal. The store manager who frustrated me is Natalie.

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Goodwill store in Champaign, IL, and I feel compelled to share my frustration. As I am in the process of moving, I wanted to donate six boxes of new products to Goodwill, hoping they could benefit from selling them. However, my attempts to donate were met with hostility and unprofessionalism. The first time I went to the store, an employee at the back rudely informed me that they were closed. Despite his aggressive tone, I remained polite and told him I would come back the next day.

The next morning, I returned at 8 AM, only to encounter the same employee who curtly told me they didn't open until 12 PM. Once again, I tried to stay calm and assured him I would come back later. When I returned after 12 PM and asked if I could now donate, his response was a snarky, "Is it after 12 now?" This was by far the worst attitude I have ever encountered across three different states (Texas, Indiana, and Illinois). I immediately expressed my dissatisfaction, telling him this was the worst treatment I had ever received at Goodwill.

I was offering free items for them to sell, yet I was treated as if I was a nuisance. Because of this particular employee's behavior, Goodwill has lost me as a customer forever. I will never donate to or support this location again. Goodwill should be aware that such rude and unprofessional behavior from their staff can drive away donors and customers alike. This experience has left a lasting negative impression, and I hope no one else has to go through what I did.

Return policy is 14 days and must have tags. Well apparently the tags must be on and 100% legible, so basically it is impossible to return clothes. I had the tags on 2 of them and no tags on the other 2. 2 were not legible (because I washed them) and the other 2 are not acceptable because the tags were removed. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR RETURN POLICY TO: "SORRY, YOU BOUGHT IT, IT'S YOURS NOW". So I donated them back and will use an inflated value as a credit on my taxes.

I have several complaints with Goodwill Burnside KY and Stanford KY. In the last couple of months I have seen employees pulling the color of the week tags before noon on Sunday and taking the buggy to door that leads to where employees process donations. From advertisement, the color of the week is 0.99 on Sunday all day until close. I have two snapshots that are time-stamped to note this.

Tonight about 30 min before close I was shopping at the Goodwill Burnside and a female employee came down the aisle with a rack. As I passed the rack I asked if I could take a throw that was on the end of the new rack. She very rudely said “No you cannot, you have to wait until I put the item out.” I said, “Ok I didn’t know.” A gentleman was walking toward us and when a few feet said to her “You did good by not letting her shop off the rack.” I said they do in other places so I didn’t know I couldn’t. He proceeded to say “Well you won’t here and if the main lady knows others places are allowing it she will fire them” and was very rude.

I am not sure if this man was an employee or a family member of this employee. I walked straight to the front of the store without stopping to shop for anything else. On the way to the front, I passed a buggy that was loaded with yellow tag (color of the week) clothing items which took no longer than a few seconds. I then proceeded to the front to check out and walking up right behind me was the man who told me couldn’t shop off the rack? When I turned to look to where the rack had been sitting it was still in the same place. So this man whomever he was knew he was going to get that throw.

I have also witnessed employees bringing clothing items out still on hangers from the back and hanging to customers. I overheard one say “I thought you would like these so I saved them for you.” The lady that was handed the items placed one back on the rack so obviously they had not been paid for and left!!! I have sent two emails regarding my Complaints and not even a callback. Tonight I left a message so I am interested to see if anyone returns my call. I have and will continue to spread the word of the things I have seen at these Goodwills and encourage them to not shop or donate items to a place that obviously are not doing the right things.

I was fortunate and found a lot of yellow tag items I am needed. At 8 pm the manager. A very large man, bald. Told me I needed to hurry up. And then stood there staring at me. I asked him how much I had, he said 45 minutes. Then he finally left. Within 10 minutes he was back hurrying me. Then started looking through my items. He stated there are a lot of yellow tags here. I stated I am very lucky. I really need these pants and shirts. He stated and me. Then left. I was trying to hurry. In another 15 minutes about 8:30 pm. He told me, I had to go to the check register, That I had too much stuff and needed to check out now. So, I did what I was told. There were a lot of customers in there looking around and still shopping.

Other customers had their carts full as well. But this man did not harass any other customer but me. I put my items on the counter. The casher stated ringing me up. He came up and just stood there. The register that I was at was the only one open. He did not open a register to check any customers out. He just stood there. He told me, "you know we close at 9 pm." I said, "I am sorry. I have to walk and really need these clothes. I am grateful I found them." As the cashier was getting down with each bundle of clothes I put more up. The cashier started stacking the clothes she had already run up, closer to the ones that were not. I noticed she had rang up one twice. I told her that. She got mad.

The man was still there. I told the cashier, "It's fine. I will pay the extra." I know he wants to get off work. She stopped ringing my items up. And just stood there with him Staring at me. People were gathering to check out. A long line of forming. I told the cashier, "Please finishing ringing my purchases up." Then the man stated, "You do not have to be rude." I told him, I simply said "To please continue with my items." He then said, "We will just put all these items back." He was very upset that I actually found many yellow tags. And would not sell them to me because of this.

I left after I had spent over two hours, Total, looking for the clothes the fire took from me. I still have no clothes. And they were so mean and rude, I left crying. I you wish to take advantage of their special pricing. Do not go to this Goodwill. They will make you feel horrible and in the end, will not sell you the items that are the $2.00 special. I just returned some clothes to a Goodwill store because they don't have a changing room (Blamed it in COVID and inventory loss (people are stealing things you got for free?--not really a loss..) when all the other thrift stores I have been to have re-opened their changing rooms. So, I had to take them home to try them on. I returned within the 2 week period but did not have time to shop today. I was told that I could take a store credit but I had to spend it today, but when I said that wasn't possible I could (SO generously) have 2 weeks to spend it. I said that I cannot guarantee that I will be able to spend it within that time frame, as I work full time, am a single mom with 2 young kids and live out of town.

I asked for my money back or a gift card that doesn't have an expiration. I was told that goodwill doesn't do that, and basically tough cookies if you can't spend it now.Thrift store shopping is hit or miss, especially when shopping for certain needs or sizes for kids, and therefore, it is unreasonable to ask tell someone you have to spend this money a short time frame, or immediately. It is predatory to young families to not allow returns with a chance to have money back, even as store credit, without expiration.

It is also on the verge of being illegal, as Congress passed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure (Credit CARD) in 2009, which states that gift cards must be valid for at least 5 years. In addition, your exchange policy states that exchanges are allowed within 14 days, while it says refunds are not allowed. It also doesn't state that store credit must be spent immediately. ARC thrift stores offer a gift card without expiration, as does my local thrift store. For a place that gets all of its inventory for free, it is absurd that I have to spend the (relatively free to the company) money immediately. I guess I will be shopping and donating there from now on...not that it matters to Goodwill industries, as American people will always have "junk" to get rid of.

I would think working at a place called Goodwill, that the employees, not to mention the supervisor would act in a kinder manner, and not be so condescending and try to be helpful. After my merchandise was rang up I realized my purchase came to over $100 and that's all I had on me at time...so I asked if it was ok if I went and got the 1 and some change from my boyfriend whom was outside in his truck which was parked in very front of store right by store entrance. The store manager chimed in and said they were closed as if I wasn't aware of that yet. That didn't have nothing to do with question at hand and that's all she kept saying so I took it upon myself to just walk out. Leave my stuff at register and go get rest of money to pay for my purchase...

The manager just kept yelling at me they were closed until one of the employees basically just said to let me do as I was and brought to her attention they couldn't shut and lock doors cause I had left my stuff at register. So I came back with rest of money and paid the lady and manager just stood at register and continued glaring at me and saying something. I just ignored her and left.

I refuse to spend another dime at this overpriced dishonest store. Goodwill is not so much of a good will. This store was meant for people whom couldn't afford to buy new items at retail stores but were still in need therefore they would come to goodwill and pay money they could afford to buy item they were in need of... This man is millionaire and we continue to purchase items that you would pay less money for if you went and purchased item new at retail store. We need to boycott goodwill and remind this man why we all donated to him in the first place. Think he lost his God given morals somewhere along the way of becoming a millionaire.

Stop giving this store your donations and money. They are not doing any of our communities any good. Only showing greed and dishonesty. Disgusting behavior for any human that was supposedly out here trying to help others at some point along the way... World's in enough uproar to have to accept another human's disheartening ways of life anymore... Either we're all in this struggle together and here to help each other or you're by yourself for yourself and then you're on your own without the help you would get if you were right about your ways in life and this store doesn't deserve the help from the people anymore. They have gone far above themselves and are just straight greedy people now.... So sad companies like this end up as they do!!!

I have been told by personnel at Goodwill that they have batteries in the back to test battery powered items. I had bought something before and got home, put in new batteries but it didn't work. I took it back and reminded them they say they test items. They took it back but gave store credit. The other day I bought a nice (looked new) Bombay tower clock with a thermometer. The clock part ran on battery. There was a battery in it but wasn't running so I figured it just need a new one. I wondered why they had tested it but put the bad battery back in it. I took it home, checked the battery with a tester and it was dead so I put a brand new battery in it. Still doesn't work!!

I took it back today but they said they don't do returns except clothes! I took the sarcastic manager that they had told me before that they test everything. I said then, "Why did you put it out for sale because if you had tested it you would have seen it didn't work." I bought in good faith and they should sale in good faith. They take back clothes because you can't try them on so why won't they take back items that have to be checked at home since obviously they DON'T really check them. The manager was rude, condescending, and his name is ** at the store on Whitlock Dr. in Marietta, GA. All Goodwills have gotten ridiculous on their prices! They get it FREE!!! I have seen items that are over-priced from stores and Goodwill will have it priced higher than the original price! It was originally meant to help those in need find items they may not otherwise be able to afford but now it’s all about greed and profit. I hope they remember their original purpose and go back to being there for those who need help.

When I got it home and opened the box, there was a completely different (much smaller) tree in the box. The price I paid was not for appropriate for a small tree, so I called and explained what happened. I asked if I could exchange for another tree. The clerk on the phone said it was my problem that the contents did not match the picture. She said that it was dontated in the box taped up, and that it is not the responsibility of GW to check that the contents matched the picture on box. When I told her that didn’t make sense, she hung up on me. By her logic, anything could've been inside the taped up box. How would Goodwill even know how to price this mystery item?

Markings on products are unreadable and when you message them on their website, they do not respond until after the auction is expired. When they have multi items, there is no guarantee that if 14 items are shown that you will receive all 14 items. Whenever I write back, I don't get a response. If they continue this practice, more people will not bid. Also their starting prices are very high, easier and cheaper to buy new at the retailers.

There is a video on YouTube called “Why you shouldn’t rip tags off clothes at Goodwill.” Please watch this video and see how these imbeciles accuse a ** in Wisconsin of theft, without asking her first if she was ok or in need! She was treated poorly and the no tooth employees fabricated their story to make it appear she was stealing.

Goodwill is a nonprofit organization and is suppose to help people with disabilities! This was over the top where this girl was accused before she even left the store! She was never charged with theft nor had drugs on her persons! She was clearly suffering a mental breakdown of sorts, and spent 2 months in jail over this horrific ordeal! Then the lying employees decided to throw away the donated clothes in case she might come back to buy them. Is this how we treat people today?

I’m disgusted at the ignorance of these low life employees who fabricated their story without any evidence! They said she took too long in the store and ripped off tags without providing any evidence. Very sad how we treat people with mental illness today. After seeing this video I will never ever go into that stinky, dirty store again, (and all Goodwills smell bad)! I will never donate my clothing to Goodwill, so they can sell it at top dollar! Once the purses have a certain brand on them like MK, Tommy, etc. and obviously worn they price it like 34 dollars, etc. People are donating these items and Goodwill is taking disadvantage of the customer a who buys them by hiking up the prices. When the items are near new and it brand items they hike up the price. Many people like me are opting out of donating there and shopping there because of this. The past week and a half the bidding on the items I have been purchasing you can not even touch now and the bidding is being driven to way more than what the value of the item is worth. I don't believe that I will be doing Goodwill auctions much longer because I can go to eBay and buy the exact item for way less than what the bidding is being driven to and I am not sure if this is an internal thing or if customers are getting carried away.

Store pricing is beyond absurd for filthy, oftentimes damaged, donated merchandise. Anything they believe to be of “value” is listed online for well over retail plus arbitrary shipping and handling fees - still dirty and oftentimes broken, BTW. That said, if you’re in the market for empty liquor/wine bottles or the box from someone’s employee award from 1970, Goodwill is the place for you! Just make sure to check for damage (usually concealed beneath the price tag).

There’s no incentive to pull damaged items from the shelves because they refuse to issue refunds, only store credit, and forget about buying a “set” of anything remotely “nice”. If you want the other candlestick, you’re buying individually. You’d think if they’ve got the time to break up a set of china into individual place settings, they’d take time to wipe off the boogers, but I digress…

Ultimately, Goodwill is a corporation designed to generate as much tax-free revenue as possible from the generosity of their respective communities and they will be the first to tell you they are under no obligation to avail decent quality, reasonably priced goods to the underserved in those communities. HOWEVER, they ARE obligated to abide by the same ethical standards of any other multi-billion dollar corporation - which leads me to arguably their most egregious profit maximizing tactic - PROXY BIDDING. If you’re unfamiliar, proxy bidding allows a bidder to set the maximum price they’re willing to pay in the event that they aren’t available to bid in person live. If bidding surpasses their max bid, the buyer is out.

Conversely, if the auction closes prior to reaching their max bid, they pay the end of auction price. Max bids are not published until after the auction ends, but are available for viewing on the seller’s end. When used ethically, proxy bidding can be a useful tool for both buyer and seller. In the case of Goodwill, max bids are used to artificially inflate pricing during the final seconds of an auction. Similar to store requests to “round up for job training”, max bids ensure Goodwill gets every last penny from its online customers and this is how they do it:

Bidding starts at $10 and increments are set to $2. Bidding starts and over the course of several days, Bidder A is the high bidder at $24. Bidder B jumps in and bids $26. Bidder A wants the item but isn’t available to monitor the auction all the way through. Bidder A sets their max bid to $40 and goes to work. Bidder B bids $28 but is outbid by Bidder A’s max bid. Bidder B drops out. Hours pass with no new bids until, with seconds left in the auction, a new bidder, Bidder C jumps in and bids $39.99 - not enough to win, but exactly enough to ensure Bidder A spends their entire $40.

But wait, there’s more! Because they rely on the public for literally everything, in addition to monitoring reseller forums for hot brands and training opportunities, they use auctions as a no cost market analysis. When an auction has a lot of interest/is exceeding their pricing expectations, they use the above scenario and bid as little as $.01 over the highest max bid in order to “win” their own item, wait a week or so, and then re-list at a higher starting price. This has been going on for years as evidenced by myriad complaints, Reddit threads, and social media outrage, yet no one has been willing to step up and expose their unethical, shady business practices. As long as we continue to supply their inventory, they will continue to take advantage of well-intentioned, albeit uninformed customers.

Many of the Goodwill Stores on their online shopping site overcharge on shipping. For example, the store located in Pasco, WA has many such items where the shipping is vastly inflated. One item I was interested in was said to weigh just under 4 lbs, but the total shipping weight was said to be 42 lbs, making the shipping cost well over $50. When I reached out to the store to see if this was a mistake on the listing, they made it clear that it was not. As an eBay seller, I'm well aware of what it costs to ship things, and this is clearly a scam, unless they're using a 38 lb box to ship a 4 lb item, which is doubtful. It seems this is a very common practice on their website. I would suggest that buyers be cautious of such scams and always check the shipping before bidding.

Hopefully everyone will stop donating to these greedy characters. They also won’t open their fitting rooms, but want people to exchange items within 7 days, even if the tag is still attached to the item, they won’t exchange it. Some people don’t live just around the corner and with gas prices so high, 45 miles is a lot to drive just to exchange an item with no guarantee the next item will fit. MORE than a brand new like-item would even retail for!!! To date, I’ve seen this over and over again, and actually sometimes see 60+ bids on items. The “pandemic” really ruined shopgoodwill and actually made it more expensive than shopping retail for very similar items. It is now FREQUENTLY tons cheaper to bid on or buy jewelry items from eBay or Etsy than it is on shopgoodwill!

My wife and I shop there, we donor there, and we've sent people there for job search assistance, and employers to post jobs available on the board. Since Covid 19, times have been hard for everyone. Unfortunately, my wife has been out of work for several months and we're barely making it but by the grace of God. I was at the Clermont Florida store today around 1pm shopping for my wife's birthday. I was fortunate to find a handbag, PRICED at $19.99, I was sure she'd love. While, I was inspecting the zipper, stitching etc.. a woman came over and asked if I was going to purchase it. I said, "Yes. I believe I am."

As I was at the register, the same woman was next to me checking out and told my cashier the purse was a designer bag and I was "stealing" it. The cashier (looks like she's from India) with no name tag has worked at that location for several years and is ALWAYS extremely rude, said she'd have to get the manager. I was shocked that she even entertained the rude comment from the other customer. I had my money in my hand, trying to get home for my wife's birthday, while she went to get a manager.

When he (** male) with no name tag, came up to the front he took the bag and walked off. Finally, he returned without my handbag and said he couldn't sell it to me because it would have to be appraised. Just because a customer wanted my item!! Even though it has a price tag, that your staff, put on it? I said, "You can't just change the price at the register!! That's completely illegal and price gouging..." He informed me he can do whatever he wants because you're a humanitarian organization. I am so disappointed with the attitude I received but mostly because I couldn't get the handbag I wanted for my wife. Hopefully, I'll get a call from someone in the home office and they can explain to me how this is tolerated in your organization. I'm sure the item is in the office of the manager awaiting appraisal because I'd love to know what they think they have. Surely wasn't a Louis Vuitton!

What? I ship items every day and a purse weighing less than 2 pounds will NOT TAKE 7 PLUS pounds of shipping materials causing it to weigh 9 pounds to ship.??? So why are these Goodwill stores cheating us??? I avoid buying anything from them for this reason. Washington DC, Paloma, TN, KY are several who have extremely reasonable shipping and only charge between $2-2.99 in handling per item. Hi my name is Debbie, I have been a customer for years at your establishment. I have also donated many, many times and is my pleasure to do so. I am also a senior citizen on a fixed income, hence why I find it necessary to shop at your many stores. What is really upsetting me is I feel your stores are price gouging the public, the prices have increased double than what they used to be. I have been finding things that I know for a fact that come from the Dollar Tree, and your stores are doubling that price! Your clothes have gone up so much I can’t afford to buy them! If I wanted to buy clothing and household items at this price I might as well buy them new for the same price, I know you realize that these are used items and are being sold as if they were new, I don’t understand what is going on?

You get these items for free, you are not paying for any merchandise. I understand you need to pay your employees and utilities. But come on…. Other businesses do too but they pay for their merchandise. I realize there has been a pandemic, and as a senior citizen I need it more now. If I can’t even shop at a Good Will it’s pretty bad. I’m pretty sure you are making millions on donated things. I have been to many Goodwills in NJ as well as PA and the price gouging is in all your stores, why would your establishment take advantage of poor people. It’s very, very sad and disheartening to know I can’t depend on Good Will for clothing and household items anymore. And trust me I’m not the only one that feels this way. I have talked to many people in many Good Wills that feel the same way. Your company should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of the same people that support you.

Goodwill’s Bold New Pricing in 2021 Has Greed Written All Over It. During the Pandemic that started in early 2020 there was a huge shift in the buying habits of consumers since most people had to stay at home for a lockdown with nothing to do. It’s like everybody had the same idea - “Hey let’s do some home renovations”, and all across the nation people shopped for building supplies for their home projects. Of course store suppliers couldn’t keep up with the demand and stores raised their prices.

The housing market saw huge increases in homes for sale as inventory levels sank when people moving from the big cities to smaller towns offering to pay 40, 70, and up to 100 thousand over market value for available homes. Many department stores across the country raised their prices because supply couldn’t meet demand. Thrift stores that serve the poor, and middle class saw an increase in shoppers at their stores, however supply didn’t noticeably change, some thrift stores raised their prices some but some remained the same.

What did the Goodwill thrift stores do in response to this surge in sales? ... You guessed it, they raised their prices! They saw an opportunity and they took it. And not by a little bit either, items that only a year ago were priced at 99 cents are now 2.99. A coffee table that you could buy a year ago at $6 or $7 now is selling for 34.95! A kitchen jar for sugar that sold for $1.50 a year ago now sells for $4.99. A dresser, or chest of drawers that sold for $15 a year ago now sells for $40.

This increase in prices at Goodwill Industries are not isolated incidents. The ones we checked here in central Indiana and north-central Indiana were evident in the 6 stores we visited over the past year. There’s no way to “sugar-coat” what is happening here, it’s just plain old-fashioned Price gouging. We all understand the purpose of Goodwill is to help jobless people by employing them and giving them a fair wage. The other way Goodwill helps people is to provide them with economical goods for the home so their struggle with the cost of living isn’t so great. The worst thing about this is it hurts the poor families that need and count on deeply discounted goods to survive. So why is Goodwill engaging in price gouging? Because they can!

One Goodwill manager I spoke to about this told me they assess prices based on a master sheet of base prices that all stores in their group follow, then the individual managers still look at items and further assess them into 3 categories of good, better, or best. An example: a wooden kitchen chair in good condition will be priced at $10, and if they think it rates a “better” condition that chair will be priced at $20, and if they think that chair is in “best” condition they will price it at $30, or even $40. As you can imagine any items that are nice enough to bring home and use they will price them in the “best” category.

At Goodwill the manager told me they are just pricing items at what they think the market will bear... but what “market” are they looking at? Many of the poor will not be able to shop there and get the things they need but Goodwill knows the middle class will shop there and pay the prices they want. So there you have it... GREED rears its ugly head. It’s just a shame Goodwill turned on and abandoned the people they intended to serve from their inception... but as my wife stated to me: “Goodwill will continue to overprice their items as long as people continue to pay those prices”.

The first time he said I was lying and did not buy the item (a coat) at “his” store. And today he again said my items did not come from his store. Both times, after checking the camera footage, it was proven he was wrong and that my items WERE bought at that store. Both times I was returning within 14 days and the tags were attached. Neither time did he apologize for being wrong and for accusing me of being a thief.

In fact today he said he was giving me a warning and if I did again he would ban me from ALL GOODWILLS FOR LIFE! When I asked what the warning was for he raised his voice and said for fraudulently returning items and tampering with tags. He accused me of removing tags, even though the camera showed I bought the items at that store the day before and despite all his berating, he did approve the return so it made no sense to me. He was extremely rude and humiliated me for something I did not even do, multiple times.

Normally I would not have returns but since goodwill's dressing rooms have been closed because of the pandemic I have a had a couple items that did not fit (as I’m sure many people have). The management should not be punishing and embarrassing customers who are following company policy for returning merchandise. I’m scared to even shop there now.

I am a domestic violence survivor and having a man speak to me the way the man did is triggering and causes emotional turmoil for me. Something I did not expect to have happen while shipping at a reputable company that claims to be an advocate for domestic violence awareness. Goodwill should not be employing people who are disrespectful and not trained or capable of positive customer service. He was very unprofessional and acted superior and arrogant.

This is what I asked: "I don't understand... You're saying just the box weight's 50 lbs...to ship the radio in...? Actual weight 29.5 lbs...and shipping weight is 79.5 lbs??? I'm in a zip code of 11967." I got no answer so I added this: "Here is another radio, turntable similar to the one your selling... It is item number 90943103..."

Then they said this: "Thank you for your message. This item's shipping weight is higher than its actual weight because it was calculated based on the shipping carrier's dimensional weight shipping policy. Dimensional weight is calculated based on the amount of cubic space a package fills in a transportation vehicle. The larger or more fragile an item is, the higher its shipping price will be as a result of the dimensional weight calculation made from its larger packaging. Please let us know if you have any other questions."

Then I asked this: "I understand that..but the item number I showed you is the same size radio, and it ships for $11 and the shipping weight is 22lbs, and actual weight is 20.4lbs... That is why I showed you the number to look at the other auction and see what I mean. Why would your radio shipping weight be 79 lbs. where the one item, number of 90943103 ship for 22lbs?? That is what I'm asking."

This is there answer: "This item's shipping weight is calculated based on the previously noted dimensional weight calculations and the size of the shipping box available at our facility that can safely hold the item. Due to this item's weight and dimensions, it requires a larger box to allow for additional padding for its protection and to prevent it from potentially tearing through the outer shipping box during transit. The item you have referenced is being sold by a different Goodwill facility and is slightly smaller and weighs less than the item being sold through our facility, which affects the shipping box able to be used and the shipping weight of the item. We apologize for any misunderstanding or inconvenience this has caused." I gave up... So I guess if they ship me...an empty box...that is larger than the one...that could do the job. I would have to pay for a shipping weight of 50 lbs more to get the item.

I've been shopping at my local Goodwill stores for a long time, sometimes I find that piece of gold but a lot of times it's just junk. I wanted to explore more and find good items all the time. I ended up finding their website shopgoodwill.com which is more of an auction site than a straight purchase site. I started looking on the site and found my first item which was a Nintendo Mario lamp, it was said to be brand new and it was only $9.99. I placed my bid and won! I didn't research my Shipping cost but it was about $20 to ship. Ok, not bad for this kind of lamp. So I submitted my payment and waited for the lamp to arrive.

The day it came, it was EXACTLY as it was described. It had the original tag on it, the factory plastic on the lamp shade (which is a question block) and not a mark of damage. I was very impressed. It was even shipped with a lot of care as it had a load of padding, the lamp shade was properly wrapped as well as the base. I tried the item (hoping it wouldn't set my house on fire being a used/new product) and it worked.

I went back on the site to see what else I could get and found for my mother 2 Erica Kane (All my children) barbie dolls. I won those as well and she said they arrived perfect, well padded and as described. So I started to order more and found that most of the good items end up on this site. This is why it's hard to find something in Goodwill stores. I can tell you that items like The Bates Motel (Psycho) model kit with polar lights, brand new and sealed was on this site for $24.99 where if it was in their store it would have been $4.99 at most.

The thing that gets me about this site is the Shipping. Shipping is said to use FedEx, but sometimes they change it to USPS or UPS which are cheaper services than Fedex most of the time. Then the pricing to ship something out is ridiculously expensive. For example I ordered 2 PlayStation 2 games with cases and manual, the works. Having to deal with Shipping a lot, I know 2 PS2 games weigh 8oz, 10oz at most. They charge for 1lbs which brings it up to $9.99 for shipping, $2 or $3 handling, then taxes and other fees and before long your up to almost $18 for Shipping. Then come to find out that the store used USPS anyway which cost them $4-$5 for first class. This actually happened to me with 3 Sony PSP games, my bid was $13 but shipping was $16 for Fedex, they used USPS.

When I questioned this, they stated "Sorry we can't refund for estimated shipping costs or difference in shipping prices". Which makes me question why? You created the listing, you posted the item, you weighed the item, you are responsible for your listing. If the games came in damage and I were to say I want a refund, they would immediately point to the listing and say "No refund" as stated. So why is it different, if you quote for Fedex, ship Fedex not USPS.

When it comes to customer service, it's a hit and miss. Some of the stores respond quick while others won't respond for days. Sometimes you can get satisfaction other times your stuck with that decision you made. I've only had 1 issue with an item but it was more my fault than the store for not reading the description.

Overall, I would say the site has some great things on it. My only word of caution is to look at the Shipping cost and watch how they ship. If they estimate for Fedex, make sure they are Shipping Fedex. Do not let them take you over and take extra money that does not belong to them. Also, always read "item info", it maybe exciting to bid or there may be limited time left, just cover your basis and read it!

I normally donate to Goodwill. Many customers are complaining that the items are overpriced. That's not my experience. However, an employee named Cierra at a store in Middletown, Ohio, was rude and unprofessional. She cut in front of me as I walked to the register without bothering to apologize. Unfortunately, she was the only employee one available to check me out. I paid her. She never said "hello", "thank you for your business", "have a nice day". In fact, she only spoke to give me the price. I work in customer service also. This employee obviously did not care about her customer. The manager of this facility, Susan, is excellent. The other staff is rude, as is Cierra. I think the Company should be careful to hire staff who actually enjoy assisting customers. I'll avoid this facility in the future.

This happened recently at Goodwill at their Guelph, Ontario location. Last summer I donated seven car loads to multiple charities and this summer will complete my downsizing. In the past I donated but didn't shop in any of the thrift stores because I was downsizing and not looking to buy anything. But recently, I decided I wanted to give the rest of my donations to one charity and decided to visit Goodwill, Salvation Army and Value Village to decide which charity I would donate to. I had a great experience in all of them except one. Every store had a nice selection and good prices and Salvation Army and Value Village staff were friendly and helpful. My experience with Goodwill was bad. This is what happened and why I won't be donating to them.

After browsing for half an hour, I selected a few items for purchase and went to the cashier. The store was almost empty. No one was in the line other than me. I approached the cashier and began putting the items onto the counter. The cashier stopped me and said 'wait, wait. ... don't do that! Wait ... until I finish wrapping the items you put onto the counter!"

I stood there for several minutes waiting for her to pack the items. She took a very long time and seemed distracted. I got impatient and finished putting the rest of my purchases onto the now half empty counter. She complained and insisted I remove the items. She then told me to help her wrap the rest of the items. I stood there silently and was very annoyed. She stopped wrapping and began completing the payment when I said to her that I still had several items in my basket. She called for help. Another cashier came and she left. She'd seemed distracted, disinterested and rude. No sense of customer service and ordered me around like a bossy, insensitive supervisor would treat a new employee. The second cashier finished wrapping everything and I left wondering how such a rude person like the first cashier can hold a job.

As I said earlier, after Goodwill, I went to Value Village and Salvation Army. Their prices were as good; good selection of inventory; their stores as clean and their cashiers, cheerful and helpful. I'm writing this to the people working in the business of charities. You should fully understand that those that donate to you and those that buy the donations are your "customers". They are the backbone of your business; of why you even exist. Be pleasant to them and give them a great shopping experience. To the store owners, I encourage you to find out if you have toxic employees like this Goodwill cashier and get rid of them. They will destroy your business.

We shop at Wintersville OH store and it is GREAT. The prices are fair and the store is clean. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly and helpful. I have been shopping at this Goodwill for years and YES some prices are higher for items bought from Target but this is easily offset by MANY discounted items placed on the shelves and racks throughout the day. If you are looking for Good quality merchandise or something unique I am NEVER disappointed. I always buy SOMETHING.

I talk to other regular customers at the store all the time and even though a few might complain about a 'high' price at times I always remind them that it sure beats shopping at MACY'S or KOHL'S as a lot of the items are name brand and used it NOT it's a GREAT DEAL. I read many other reviews about Goodwills from around the country but my shopping experience has been nothing but pleasant. I could give 100s of examples of finds throughout the years I have shopped there. I could give lots of examples of Exemplary customer service from Marcy, Tammy, Alicia, Doug as well as many others.

Goodwill disgusts me anymore. I used to donate items regularly until I found out how useless and greedy this organization really is. Between markups close to 300% of the original cost of some items, underpaying the employees so they can line their own pockets, and selling defective items which are purported to work and cannot be returned when proven to be defective, it's a shady business practice that only endures because of the facade of being a charitable organization. The only people they're helping are themselves. When I struggle to afford their offerings due to my low income, it's a problem.

Some of the clothes they sell have foul odors and stains and belong in the dumpster, not on the rack. Pants are one of the worst examples of overpriced items. I can get new pants from Ross or other similar retailers for less than they charge for items they were given. Some of the clothes have clearance tags from Walmart, and the store is charging more than the item was new on Walmart clearance; as if Walmart was some prestigious clothing brand worth a lot of money. It was discounted at Walmart for a reason!

Bottom line: this organization is greedy and unworthy of your donations! Donate to a thrift store that actually helps people! Goodwill is helping NOBODY by pocketing most of the profits, not paying employees fair wages and making their prices so high that the people who can't afford better can't even afford the secondhand items at Goodwill stores.

I went to Goodwill further down from where I lived at, and I love to sew, collect sewing patterns, typewriters and any vintage stuff at Goodwill. About weekend ago I came across a sewing machine that worked but the outside looked pretty dingy and dirty with a little bit of plastic warping in some areas. The price they wanted was $65.00 which is pretty high for something that's about 30 years old. I've 3 sewing machines in my life and I've always wanted an older one because how long they can last and I've seen how durable they can be. So, I went up to the cashier and asked "Excuse me, is their any way we can negotiate on the price since it not worth 65 dollars in my opinion because of now damaged it looks". So she then says "Well since it's a Singer and Singers are good sewing machines, the best I can do 50".

I'm like, "Well that still high for something that 30 years or older and I understand that some sewing machines can hold value but from my experience they were never worth hardly any because that's not something everyone today wants and it depends on the model. Also the condition is not very good. However, if it was than I most likely being willing to pay it since it seems to be a special model."

So she sees the manager and asks him to come over. So, I ask him "Is there any way you guys can go lower? I mean you guys are getting these used and sewing machines down here and I always see get thrown out because no one down here wants because you continue to price them high." He tells me "Well, sewing machines are worth a lot and I can't see any lower than 50. These are on Ebay for about 70 or more dollars because it's a special model. Plus it's getting sold on our auction website as well".

So being a bit frustrated I said "Look I understand that you think its has value and is worth something but it's completely damaged on the outside and you still want me to pay 50 dollars because it's worth value to you and base your opinion on Ebay which it's not always a reliable website. And those models on there are in actually good condition I'm sure but this is not. I've been sewing since I was 14 and there's lots of sewing machines people say is worth something but they are not on the internet which Ebay tends to do this a lot but when you actually look into and do extensive research it's not worth hardly any at all. And I figured since you're charitable you would sell things in here at a reasonable price but instead I see these sewing machines being way overpriced for something that's old and doesnt even look like they even run".

So he's like "Well I'm sorry and that's all I can do." And proceeds to walk away from me. So I ended up putting the sewing machine back and being frustrated in a store that says it's supposed to help the needy and community but always overprices their goods. Last time it was this bad is when I found a typewriter that was $25 and had problems and they refused to go lower even though it there was clearly something wrong with it but it could be fixed. Like aren't you guys trying to get rid of stuff that's given to you at affordable prices? I honestly think it's funny you guys get used items only to sell them for DOUBLE the amount it's worth.

I've NEVER EVER had ANY problems with Goodwill in years until I noticed their items go up in price on the last year or so. Since then I've Refused to go back to a Goodwill for anything which makes me sad because I believe in giving items a second chance. Now I have to go somewhere else to find a sewing machine that actually looks like its hasn't been dropped for a decent price. For anyone who's looking for old sewing machines at a decent price here, I would go elsewhere because they dont even look into the model fully and say well it's worthwhile. It obviously looks damaged and doesnt run. Also I went on their auction website and wanted DOUBLE the amount for it.

I know they are thrifters however this is no longer a place to thrift at. Goodwill needs to get back to their roots and adjust the ridiculous pricing they have adopted in their store. I will start this out by saying I love Goodwill and shop there regularly. However the last purchase I made became more of an issue for me than I would have ever thought. I recently purchased a brown love seat for a friend in need. After measuring it sadly it wouldn't fit into their home. I come back to ask for some kind of refund or store credit seeing how the love seat had never left the goodwill store and I was abruptly meet with a rude, angry little lady telling me there was nothing she could do for me. So me being 6 months pregnant, driving a hatchback car had absolutely no way or room to take the couch they had threatened taking back from me with no refund. Either take it or leave with no money or store credit! So I asked to speak with someone above her. She said I was wasting her time and her manager would tell me the same thing that I had just lost my money. She calls her superior and that person tells her to give me store credit for my purchase!

Then the woman I was dealing with hangs up and tells me I have to spend that money that day. The store was to close in less than an hour! So after I try to look around I couldn't seem to find anything I wanted. I tried to explain to the same woman that I felt rushed and didn't like anything that day she tried to tell me again that if I didn't purchase something worth the value of the love seat right then that I would lose my money! This is twice in the same hour that this woman has tried to just take my money with no compensation. Of course no one would let that happen! I ask her to call her manager again and she quickly resolves it.

This lady the entire time was rudely talking over me, trying to bully me into taking my money, mean while smiling politely at the other customers. I don't know if maybe she just didn't like me a as a person but I hope she doesn't treat anyone else like that. I really feel for her employees. This was the worst rudest interactions I have EVER had in any store.

I observe her pick up a collectible, look at the price and muttering to herself, relocates the item and walks away. I go to check it out, go online, and decide I have to get it. At check-out, clerk says he needs to ask about price sticker, that it may have been changed. I tell him the lady on the floor already checked it, but he has to check for himself. Ok.

He calls for assistance, the SAME lady comes up, says yeah, that's what was on it (although she WAS hesitant). Now she decides she's going to go check it out again. She leaves, calls the clerk, now the price is 5 TIMES what the sticker said. ??!?! Do I want it? I said no, that's the stickered price which she had already admitted to double checking. 11/1/2019 Today at app 9:30 am I visited the location on Reynolds Road. And was force out unfairly by a manager who was on the phone lying to her boss. 11/1/2019 Today at app 9:30 am I was doing some light shopping at Goodwill at their Reynolds Rd. location. As I was shopping I happened across a old recliner from the '60s. Discolored, faded crispy, but it had a price of ten bucks stuck to the arm of the chair. I went on, did some more shopping and thought about it and said to my father I can throw a sheet over it. It was sturdy. My father agreed and I called a employee over and told her I wanted to buy it but could not pick it up until tomorrow.

I had called a buddy and he agreed to haul it but could not do until tomorrow. As I was now done shopping and the lady pulled off the sticker and we walked towards the counter. Midway there the lady ran into the manager who was also the only person who could check out. And she gave her the sticker and said I wanted it. Right away the manager blows up. "That's the wrong sticker. It's white, it should be yellow." Well their yellow tag was not there. It was stuck to the bottom of the chair hidden behind a mirror. So she starts a scene as soon as I start talking to her. As I disturbed her from something in the back room she starts making nasty or hurry sounds that Whatever she was doing was interfere with the back room where everyone was except a lady sweeping floors and the two faced new employee were present.

After getting the number I called and that ticked her off even more. She stomped off to the back room then came out stomping over to check me out. I got no answer to the voicemail where the operator sent me. I left a voice message. I never got a call back. Talking to the lady behind me we were talking how rude she was. And remember it's not my fault they mismarked it. Expecting her to help come to a place we could meet in the middle she didn't like my attitude and picked up her phone. Called 911 and walked in the back room. Now remember. I'm in line with my debit card out trying to just pay and leave.

At this point I told her to forget the chair. She comes out blares out, "I called 911" as she had her manager on the phone. The guy who I called and left a message and never called back. So I talked to him. Tried to explain my side and told him all I was doing was waiting to pay my bill. The lady behind me had now left to the other side as some mystery lady appears from the back room. Skipped me and was serving the people now lined up behind me. The police arrived, she put her boss on the phone with the officer officer asked him what he wanted to do and he instructed the officer to show me the door. I politely said ok, walked away and left. I went down the road to another store. Found the same things cheaper and better and much cleaner.

My point is this manager handled this entire matter out of line and angry because of something with the attitude she had. It could of been handled with the Boss on the phone. Instead of thinking of the customer I was publicly humiliated and forced out by a Toledo Police officer. I never once raised my voice. She just didn't like what I was saying to the other customer. Since when is a crime to talk in a store to other customers about how bad of services I was getting along with an attitude because this lady was mad about something.

Goodwill, you will never see a dollar from me again. Now the two-faced new employe. The entire time the manager was in the back room a good 10 min maybe 15 minutes she talked this manager down the whole time on how nasty she is and she doesn't like her. Then as soon as the manager hangs up the phone she slitters slimy behind the manager and whispers, "I got your back." Lol. When I called her out she now changes her tune. 1 Amendment Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Huge disappointment! Employees in this Goodwill location totally lack training. The model/training that Jose, the manager, has giving to the employees is to shout out at customers and treats them like low-class citizens. They scream at the customers every time a bin is coming out “EVERYBODY TO THE FRONT OF THE STORE”. By the way, after employees give an order, everyone is expected to move to the front of the store no matter where they are. A bin takes about 20 minutes to be brought out. All that time, people have to stand in front of a yellow line, near the entrance.

When screaming out the order “NOW”, customers run as chickens without heads to get whatever they can. Some of them take stuff out of the bins and throw them to the floor. The extreme level of excitement provokes that things get broken. Customers fight, scream out, and move bins out of place, while some employees sneer maliciously, looking at them grotesquely. This is a vicious circle repeated several times during the day.

How low are you willing to be treated to get a discount? This Goodwill outlet is 90% old smelly clothes. They have a policy to buy a minimum of 11 pounds $2 per clothing and $0.35 per households (any fabric is considered clothing such as old carpets). I don’t understand how some customers can accept this type of treatment. Items are not free, you pay for them. To get a good deal people have to spend hours searching for and fighting for stuffs. Some people camp outside the store bringing their own food to spend the whole day there.

The drop that spilled my glass was today, I got bullied by a big tall employee that yelled at me as if I had neither education nor professional preparation. I am a petite woman that got petrified. Another employee started also screaming at me in Spanish as if I didn’t understand English. I was asked to leave and never come back again when I tried to record all the screaming at me. When I got to the car, I exploded in tears for frustration and helplessness of the situation. Seriously, Goodwill: Do something about this! This is simply not acceptable! People who are looking for offers are NOT low-class people. They are people looking for savings.
