I got a gift card from the Charlotte MI Goodwill store and happily presented it with the merchandise I selected, but they refused to honor it. Not only was I confused by it, I was also embarrassed by the line of people behind me who heard them accuse me of giving them a useless card. It was their card! That's $10 I could have used for food.

I donate regularly to Goodwill of North Georgia and I also shop there first before buying books, yarn, outdoor tools, etc. Today after dropping off a comforter, pillows and a few other items I went into the highway 92 in Woodstock location and much to my surprise they had ratty haired baby dolls for $39, small end tables with aluminum and thin glass for $25, a ball of used yarn for $6.99 and a mirror I'd donated and purchased at Dollar Tree listed for $3.99. NO WAY RIGHT?! Well read on, it gets better!
Every shelf was loaded down with an overflow of over-priced items - the store had a handful of customers (all shaking their heads at these prices) and a few employees. I figured I would let the manager know how upsetting it was that this location was priced double maybe triple what the Goodwill down the road was charging for the same items! Well, upon asking the gentleman behind the over over priced counter - he said, and I kid you not "I don't know who the manager is, and everyone's been complaining!" I asked him how on earth he was working and didn't know the manager. He explained that district managers had taken over the store and people had been complaining but he had no idea who I should talk to.
I left the store completely disgusted at my donations priced more than the original price I'd paid and the outlandish prices in this store. ~~Literally - a shirt had a tag with a Walmart clearance price of $3 - at the register they wanted to charge $7.99 - even with the original tag showing way less than half that price! Employees like to play dumb and just give you a "Oh well, take it or leave it. I make minimum wage." blank stare. Seriously!
I emailed via their website from the car and proceeded to call to speak with someone. That someone "Grover" told me that they price their items at fair market value and sometimes they make mistakes but they would continue doing what they are doing. He was very rude and when I said "Doesn't your CEO make millions a year already?" He said "Oh now I see where you are going with this",,, completely rude and could care less when I told him I would not be donating or shopping in any of their locations in the future. I told him I was trying to be nice by calling but after talking to him I was going online and tell everyone they should donate their items to organizations that care about their consumers and those making donations out of the goodness of their hearts. He said "Have a good day maam!" And hung up the phone. DONT DONATE OR SHOP AT GOODWILL! THEY'VE GOTTEN GREEDY!!

If a single mother of 3 can't afford a second hand store it's pathetic. Then asked to round out my total at register? I've seen the backs of these stores & they have plenty of items to sell so why do they act like this DONATED merchandise is coated in gold? Items not priced a lot of times & donation coupon for % off even was lowered. BE ASHAMED GOODWILL or should I say BADWILL. Bathrooms are atrocious & never a sale on anything worth buying. My business now goes to The Village thrift ONLY!!!

I cannot believe the prices of Goodwill these days! I went in for some clothes, a backpack and a few other kitchen items and left empty handed due to the prices! Why would I pay $5-8.00 for someone's throw aways. I went to Walmart and found comparable if not less costly items that were BRAND NEW and then went to a local thrift store where clothing was $1.00 and most other items were $1-3.00! I used to shop at Goodwill all the time because I am a single mom of two kids and these prices used to fit my budget AND Im a firm believer of recycle and reuse items but I will not be returning to Goodwill until they drop the prices. Shame on you GoodWill, you need to reevaluate your commitment to your communities and who you are really trying to help! Who care if people are purchasing your items and reselling them, that is not your business, your business is to help those is need by offering prices they can afford everyday needed items!

Updated on 08/31/2019: I've been emailing an anonymous person for over a week about the way in which I received my two lots of jewelry from their online auctions. I won two large lots of costume jewelry and they were simply dumped into a box, taped shut and sent to me. There was no packing, no wrapped jewelry, not even two bags to hold each lot. They told me that it's advertised that my merchandise would be sent to me this way and after it's photographed, it's dumped into a box, taped shut and put on a shelf until it's sold. I was told that the box is not opened again. However, I won two lots and they had to open both boxes and consolidate both lots into one box for combined shipping. Mind you I was charged $4 handling fees for both lots and paid $8 for someone to dump both lots of jewelry into a larger box, tape it shut and stick a label on it. They state in their written description that "jewelry may arrive tangled or in knots".
It's more like tangled, knotted, broken, damaged and completely avoidable. They couldn't even bag each lot before they just dumped both lots into a larger box. This goodwill could care less about paid merchandise once your money is in their bank. I asked them why they packed my lots this way and I was told they have a right to charge a handling fee for each lot and that it's specified in their listing. Okay; that's not what I asked. So a solid week goes by and someone, again anonymous and obviously a manager responded to my question and apologized that my situation had "grown into something so much more than it ought to be". I replied by thanking them for a reasonable response instead of someone arguing with me and misinterpreting my question, but that they still did not respond to my original question.
This evening I was bidding on an item in my watch list and was prompted with a pop-up telling me, "This goodwill has your blocked and you are not authorized to bid on any items from us". This is what happens when you are a good buyer helping them to meet their goal of selling their donated items and buyers paying top dollar to help train individuals for gainful employment from generous people like us. All of these "ANONYMOUS" people at this goodwill are so far off the mark, customer service and good faith, it's giving this site a poor reputation.
Like all online retailers, you eventually find out who you should continue doing business with, and who you should avoid. I would avoid THIS GOODWILL BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR MERCHANDISE AFTER THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR ITEM is out the door. They wipe their hands clean and never expect to hear from you until you buy another auction. This is how they're training their staff with our money.
Original review: So I won TWO auctions that consisted of numerous pieces of jewelry that was actually listed as "May arrive tangled". When I got both of my lots they were simply DUMPED into a box and taped shut. Nothing was inside a bag!! It took me hours to unwrap, untangle, and figure out what pieces went to which pieces of jewelry that were now broken apart. I emailed this "Goodwill" and got "ill will" instead! Seems that the person answering the email at this specific Goodwill Store who sells items on the Internet under the website, "SHOPGOODWILL.COM" wants to make it worse for all of the other Goodwills who actually provide a service and cares about customer satisfaction. JUST DON'T SHOP THERE AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY THAT YOU DIDN'T SHOP THERE.
Most of the other Goodwill stores are customer-oriented and care about the items they sell after they leave their premises. This Goodwill simply closed the email you sent them asking why they just dumped two lots of jewelry into a box and taped it shut. In other words, "Don't bother us. We're too busy training people with the money we make off of people like you so that they have a better chance at work and finding work". SO WHAT IS THIS GOODWILL TEACHING THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE TRAINING???? JUST DUMP IT AND CALL IT A DAY???? "Hurry up and do your job; don't worry about any complaints, we'll just ignore all of them"???? I also sent them a picture of what it looked like when I opened it! Too bad I can't upload that same picture.
I would never order anything from this goodwill. I would have to go inside and personally see how they "packed" my items in a bag before I left their store!! ZERO stars on customer service. ZERO stars on feedback and response. I further believe that this store is not training any person whatsoever and simply keeping the money to pay themselves a bonus because of the wonderful dis-service they provide to paying internet customers!!

Today at 10:40 am I went to my Goodwill location drop-off at 2655 E 3rd St, Casper, WY 82609. I wanted to donate some books in excellent condition and a sewing machine. A young man would not accept the donations, and stated that "Goodwill does not accept sewing machines. We are no longer accepting books. Take them somewhere else." If this is how the community is to be treated, I believe this location will lose a lot of business and several donations. Last week, I tried to donate clothing and was told I had too many bags. The bags were plastic Walmart bags filled with barely worn or new clothes. What message does this send? The employees at the drop off need to show respect, and if donations are not being taken for items, it should be clearly posted. The posting stated mattresses and food, not the items in my car. Thank you.

Goodwill needs to close their doors in shame. They've ruined the concept of charity and goodwill and replaced it with ridiculous greed and profit. Dollar Tree items, 2.99. Target salvage items marked up more than retail. Filthy, worn shoes 14.99 and up. Because they once were Nike's? Expired pet food marked at cost? That's ILLEGAL to sell expired FOOD! Selling opened packages of medical bandages and dressings? ILLEGAL. Close their doors with protest, this has to stop---they are generating the greed with corporations using their donations as tax write-offs, a vicious, greedy circle aimed at taking advantage of the consumer. Please stop shopping at or donating to this money pit.

I used to shop the local Goodwill stores regularly. Most times I could find yarn, fabric, sewing patterns and various craft books. Lately, and in 3 different store locations, there was absolutely NOTHING craft-wise. Not even a straggler book on the shelves. A couple of years ago I started noticing drastic price hikes on everything. I found that I could buy new yarn from most craft supply stores and even online (shipping included) a lot cheaper than Goodwill prices. I stopped buying the yarn. The patterns and books were still reasonable so I still purchased those. Now there's no craft supplies whatsoever on the shelves which leads me to believe that they're trying to get higher prices by selling them in lots online. Informed, intelligent and savvy shoppers know a rip-off when they see one.
Anyone willing to pay more on the Goodwill website than they would in a store is basically being charitable in my opinion. I can no longer be supportive of such a greedy establishment. The carloads of items that I regularly donate will go elsewhere. I will also shop elsewhere. In addition trying to sell broken, chipped, cracked and damaged goods (not even vintage) for top dollar is ridiculous.

I have donated and shopped at this Goodwill for nearly 20 years. It used to be a very satisfying experience, I have donated a lot of very new, barely used good merchandise - clothing, furnishings etc., always knowing in return I would find equally interesting and unique merchandise in the store. It was a fun and economical way to keep my home fresh. But this store has changed, and like a lot of people I will no longer shop or donate here. The donation center has one exhausted looking - senior citizen in the truck accepting carloads of items people drive in with, in a continual stream. Amazing looking things, but it all goes on the truck. Nothing goes in the store. In the store, the merchandise is the dregs. Whatever low cost, no-label dirty, and broken merchandise Goodwill decides won't sell online. Nothing vintage, nothing unique.
Yesterday, after donating a car-load of items, including a large vintage crewel rug - which went directly on the truck I went inside. I found 2 skirts and went to checkout. The cashier said one of them did not have a price tag. I suggested she charge the same as the other one, marked 5.99. She said this one is longer (it was, by about 2 inches) and said 8.99. I declined. Then she asked if I wanted to donate a dollar to their "cause". What cause?? Goodwill extortion. No thanks. She said, "See you next time." But there will not be a next time. I'm sorry that 20 years of fun hunting for treasures has ended so badly. Goodwill has changed and like others who have posted here, believe their greed has become their cause; not their customers, nor their poorly paid and terrible staff. Goodbye Goodwill. Never again.

Why is Goodwill raising prices? Greed! I saw a review from someone else who says they don't blame them for bringing up the prices because people are Greedy. That is totally crazy, did you know that the CEO of this "charity" Jim Gibbons, made $729,000 in salary and deferred compensation. Hmmm and they take in "volunteers" (slaves) to help at Goodwill.
Let's examine this for a min. If they bring up the prices then the community that they say they are helping does not get a break. If you can buy the exact same item on Ebay with free shipping and no tax and a money-back guarantee then why in the hell would anyone pay the exact same price at Goodwill? As for the re-sellers buying everything up, what is the problem with that? You still have low prices for the locals and you create jobs (they say they are into creating jobs) by people buying and reselling. In my opinion Goodwill is killing their business, as of today I will not donate, I will not purchase and I will actively promote other REAL charities for others to give to. The Hell with Goodwill!

I live in PA near Pittsburgh. All of my local Goodwill I have learned by asking their employees why the prices are 10x what they should be, that they now check prices against eBay and other similar sites. Whatcha doing Goodwill???
2. It is to help people in need, not for you to rob people blind from things you get freeee.
3. Anyone reading this, quickly research the salary of goodwill CEOs...millions!!!
4. I refuse to donate to a store that jacks its prices through the roof for self gain rather than helping like they should. I do all I can to spread word about this but don't really have to because most have noticed the ridiculous prices.
Thanks for helping out goodwill, keep up the great work????

I have, like many other people, experienced an extremely disturbing overpricing at all Goodwill stores across the country. Dollar Tree items priced at 2.99, broken and stained items. One store I went to charges 4.99 for all shirts, (tank tops included). Today my sister found a pair of used tennis shoes price for 19.99. I saw used flats for 24.99. It's ridiculous and sad. I don't know what is going on. I am repeating most of what other people are saying, that you can find brand new item for less at other stores. I really don't get it. I went in yesterday looking for a sketch pad, and found a DollarTree one for 2.99. So, I left and went to DollarTree. Somebody needs to investigate what is going on here. I have decided not to go again. It's hard enough for poor folks to survive, and now not even the Greedwill is safe.

Wow! Google has its profit making hand in everything. Now it's Goodwill. Prices are currently too high for pre-worn clothes, some of which have body odors and stains you can't get out under the armpits. All the good items and clothing have been skimmed off the top, and what's left is ehhhh, and way overpriced. "The thrill is gone".

The absolute greed of this company blows my mind. I have shopped at and donated to the local stores for years today was my last trip. The markups on the name brand items are sickening, part of it used to be that you could find items that you couldn’t afford or didn’t want to spend big money on at retail stores, that’s no longer the case because of this company's greed. Thanks Goodwill. I will never darken your door again. I used to stop quite often. Now I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I then asked them to close my account if they could resolve it and I would just open a new one. Now they have disabled my account and I cannot open a new one. I have called and sent them multiple emails. I need them to open my account and fix this issue with the unpaid items ASAP. They can add them back with a pay button or remove them if relisted. Desired Resolution: Finish the Job. Desired Outcome: Fix my account, by reinstating it and remove the past due items (user name **). I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on Shopgoodwill.com, and have been treated horribly.

*Submitted as complaint on Goodwill's official website; posting here to share with others.* There has suddenly been a ridiculous new organization of the Lawrence, KS store where housewares are organized by COLOR (they used to be organized by use, which made way more sense...). The prices have suddenly skyrocketed. Worst of all, though, is this one employee (possibly the manager?) who seems to have a very skewed sense of what it means to work in customer service (or anywhere near other humans, apparently).
There is an older female employee (I believe her name is Catherine, or something similar; about 50+ years old, **, grey, curly hair; ~150 lbs?) who I have had numerous unpleasant experiences with. Today, I came through the donation drive-through line to donate one garbage bag and one small box of items. She was assisted by a younger male employee, named Chance (he had written his name on the tax form I requested; he was very polite and helpful).
The female employee was extremely curt and unfriendly, and before I could utter a greeting, ripped open my plastic bag while asking "What are these? Clothes or what?" and then berated me when I apologized and explained I didn't know that I needed to sort the items myself. She glared up at me and said, "That's why you call and ASK!" Feeling defensive and a little shocked, I explained that, frankly, the last few times I had come into the store, I felt very unwelcome by the way she had spoken to me when I tried to make a return or when I asked for assistance to open the dressing room.
While rummaging angrily through my plastic bag of donations, she made a series of insulting and judgmental remarks about the items I was donating. I've shopped at Goodwill for years, and I always make a point to NOT donate things that are broken, dirty, or useless because I know the toll it takes on shoppers and employees alike to have to sift through junk. I felt totally humiliated, and was frankly appalled that this employee would treat a customer who not only frequents the store, but has also brought in items for DONATION, with such disrespect. As I drove off, she bellowed at the car behind me to "KEEP THAT IN THE CAR!" (they were donating a large piece of furniture). Unbelievable.
I have seen and overheard her treat other customers in a similar way on numerous occasions, even in the donation drop-off line, where one would think patrons would be treated with not only respect, but perhaps gratitude. Such was not the case today. Details on the day I made the return: I came in around 6 or 7pm one weekday to make a return (with receipt) six days after a purchase. After standing at the register for several minutes while she lectured to a younger female employee, I finally was helped. The older female employee in question looked me up and down as I asked to make a return. She slowly and condescendingly counted on her fingers while examining my receipt, I assume to express that I was very close to the cutoff for returns.
I was aware of the number of days that had passed, and apologized, explaining, however, that I work every day of the week but Wednesday (the day I came in to make the return). She sighed and begrudgingly processed the return. When I purchased items later that night, I opted to round up to the nearest dollar and also use my return credit (which turned out to be almost $2 lower than what I'd paid in the first place!). I left, and decided to attribute the employee's insulting and unfriendly behavior to a simple miscommunication/misreading of her body language, or a bad day.
The events that transpired in the donation drive-through line today, 5/29/19, lead me to believe that this employee may very well be unpleasant all the time. I am confused how someone so clearly inept at providing even remotely good customer service is employed at a nationwide chain of Goodwill's caliber and reputation. While I was once a frequent shopper, and have often donated saleable goods to the organization, until changes are made I will no longer be visiting this Goodwill location (which is the only Goodwill store in my town).

Someone really needs to go into this store and realize what's going on. I bought something the other day and the Goodwill price tag came off and below was the original price from where it came from, Goodwill had jacked up the price $2 more from the original retail price, that is not ok! Goodwill has a policy that their employees can't shop at their own store so customers can get a chance to find a unique item and have a chance to get first chance to buy the items. So why is Goodwill now going through all the good items and selling them online? This is not fair to the customers and not fair to the people donating who think their items are going to help people in their own communities when in reality the items are being sold online and going to other states and or countries. My family and I used to shop at all the nearby Goodwill stores in the area quite often, however as of recent we visit Goodwill specifically, less and less due to their price jacking. Yesterday was the last straw. We observed a simple sundress marked at $100 and countless Target and Dollar Tree Branded items overpriced. A junk, Greenbrier Intl. cat toy marked for 2.99! You will not only often find countless quantities of these type of ripoffs, but also find that nearly all Goodwill stores no longer carry jewelry. Occasionally there are maybe two or three pieces of Target donations or costume pieces LOCKED in a case. All other jewelry is now being hawked on their online auction site for large profits. My mom once found a Halloween decoration priced for $100.
My mom called about this particular item and was told that they chose their pricing at $100 because they saw a similar item listed on Ebay for $200. Why would Goodwill (a charity thrift store) think that basing an overly enthusiastic eBay listing as a price model was appropriate? You will often find entire sets of items pieced and priced separately, dishes, electronics, accessories etc. Broken glassware being sold, delicate glassware being placed right-side-down on metal grated shelves, ripped paper, craft and party supplies being sold, half used toiletries, furniture being priced outrageously and countless other abominations. You can always count on Goodwill taking their Target store donations and pricing them for higher than Target's clearance prices! I hope Target takes note of this and donates elsewhere from now on.
I'm disgusted by the greedy ethics of Goodwill Industries. They receive their donations for free and try to turn them for the biggest possible profits with absolutely no care about charity whatsoever. Goodwill needs to be investigated. If they do not address and adjust their price ethics, then they need to be shut down. Everyone should boycott them until we see change.

Had this reject actually been a man and confronted me, I would have told him exactly who steals, what employees return with box trucks and who was messing with their trucks! To all that donate, they say don't throw it out donate it, the reality is they destroy throw away so many donations that it's mind boggling! To those that buy, unless you're an insider, or know someone, you're wasting your time! You're not allowed to test electronics, and if you need to return you're only getting a credit. They keep your money and basically shrug off the fact they sell you junk.

I've just recently become homeless, sleeping outside. I went to Goodwill looking for a sleeping bag. They had one for seven dollars. I only had five dollars to my name. Went to the manager and asked for some goodwill and said I would come back with the two dollars in a few days. It’s been very cold at night and I have no blanket. She said there was no way she could help me. That's good will alright. I will never recommend or shop there again. Good riddance Goodwill.

The man who came out to "retrieve" my donations brought out a cart and waited there beside it waiting for me to lift the heavy items out of my car and put them in the cart myself. Not once did he offer to help. He acted like he was just there to protect the cart and not to help at all! Another lady pulled up beside me and he did not help her either. We both had to ask for a donation receipt as he hurried back into the store. Never again will I take any of my donations to A Goodwill Store again. I will go to the Salvation Army Store where they help you and appreciate the fact that but for your donations they would not have a JOB!

I would like to add to the many many people that are disgusted with the pricing structure at Goodwill Stores. For years I have tried to save money by shopping at Goodwill. The prices have steadily gone up and clothes are somewhat organized by color. For what they charge they could afford to put them in some kind of size order who has all day to find jeans? Mostly the prices are outrageous for a thrift store which is most likely in response to the people that survive treasure hunting and reselling. I thought that was the point was to put people to work! Lots of people have little to no income for medicines and food for different reasons. This treasure hunting keeps them off welfare or worse from not getting meds they need.
GOODWILL I have seen what you throw out or send to recycle for pennies a pallet. There are so many other places like Savers or Park Avenue that truly just want to move their stuff and get money for their cause. Park Avenue puts whole store at .50 one day a week! Really need to figure out if you are a non profit or for profit seems like the latter. You have lost so many customers get a grip. Read these reviews. Success can go away with 600 complaints on one single site and most the same complaint.

I have seen people curse them out, walk out and say they lost a sale. I thought the point was to sell the stuff. This store is really junky and if you don't want to sell your stuff or get it more organized, just close the store and put something else there. Our other stores throughout the area are more together than this one, and employees are more friendly and helpful. Clean it up, get better employees, price every item or just close.

They said they had opened up new stores and now were looking to compete with Ross stores. Makes no sense for used item donated for free. I encourage everyone to donate to the Salvation Army. I asked the sales clerk why I couldnt find any of that color and she said they pull a lot of clothes and put them in the back 'cause they have new stuff coming in. I also noticed that they came into luck of a Widdocomb bench, of which they were selling for 999.00. This is ridiculous. If you're going to put something like in one of your stores, I suggest you put it on a showcase of some sort and in a neighborhood where those more fortunate CAN PURCHASE to help the cause. Otherwise I have no other choice but to think you put such a high price on it so that people WOULDN'T BE ABLE to purchase, perhaps saving it for someone who works there. Goodwill's prices are not second hand prices. Your beat up floral dept. is more expensive than Michael's Craft stores inventory - how dare you. Needless to say - no couch for Dad.

The couple looked homeless and poor. Security grabbed the items and were pretty mean and rough about it. Come on, Goodwill, you can afford to give away third time rejected clothes to the poor. That was such a sad scene to watch. I gave three stars because I did have fun rummaging through the bins. The jacket and backpack would have cost about a dollar together. I have shopped, and donated to Goodwill for years. I, too have noticed, especially recently, that prices are rising even more. Every time I would go in, I would hear at least one person say "Almost all this stuff is donated". When being upset over the prices on everything. What finally did it for me, was the last time I went, I bought a shirt that had tags on it from a JCPenny store for $6.99. Goodwill sold it for $8. I brought it to the cashiers' attention, and she called up a manager. Of course, to no surprise, the manager says "we have no control over that". Wow, load of bs there.
Also, I don't notice a lot of things till I get home and really look at the clothes. They sell clothes that are basically unusable. From broken zippers, holes, and etc. I also noticed they charge a lot more for designs/style than just brand. This is why I quit shopping at Goodwill, and go to other stores like Gabes, or Roses, where things are a whole lot better priced, and brand new. Now, I donate things to shelters, where I know people are not getting ripped off.

Just to get this out of the way, I sell on eBay. I am the guy who goes to Goodwill and buys the things that nobody else will buy so that I can offer them for sale on a larger worldwide platform where people are looking for these specific things. These are generally items that no local customer just visiting Goodwill would ever purchase, often they are obscure and very specific items that no customer is going to just happen to need. In other words, 1 in a million people might be interested in purchasing these things, and the odds of Goodwill being able to sell them are minuscule at best unless it's to someone like me who intends to sell it on eBay.
The Albany location used to be reasonable with their pricing up until about 6 months ago or so, and ever since then it has been a train wreck. Somehow, they have gotten the idea that their small potatoes local store can compete with a global platform like eBay and command the same or higher prices. Just to put this into context, Goodwill has a small trickle of people who wonder in and look for nothing other than what catches their eye, eBay has millions of buyers seeking out very specific things. What the Albany Goodwill store is doing is raising their prices to the point of being laughable and unreasonable by even eBay standards.
Allow me to walk you through a typical visit these days: I enter the store and decide to take a look in the front display case and 9/10 times it's the same stale merchandise week after week, 75% of it being product they got from Target that even Target couldn't sell on clearance...and it's priced higher than the retail price that target had on it before it even went on clearance. The other 25% is things like solar calculators that retail for under $10 brand new, and they have the case loaded up with them for upwards of $15 used since they can't grasp the fact that because some calculators are worth that, it does not mean they are ALL worth that. Add that same logic to pretty much anything and everything they sell, and you start to get the picture.
After looking at the display case, I head over to the electronics section and I am greeted with old obsolete computer speakers that look like they came with an old computer from 1999, not even in good condition, they are yellowed with age, scuffed up and nothing special whatsoever. What is the price? $15... okay, that's a weird price, but whatever, let's move on and see what else there is for sale.
I get to the house phones, routers, and power cords, it's the same story. Junky expansion handsets that shouldn't be more than a couple dollars are instead seemingly randomly priced from $5 to $20 depending on the day and time. No rhyme or reason, just random prices that make no sense. Again, weird, but whatever, onto the cords to see if there is anything worth buying, and apparently any and all laptop chargers regardless of knowing if they actually work, or what they go to… are all made out of gold and priced as such at a minimum of $5 each, but mostly $8 - $15. Never mind the fact that the odds of someone being there looking for that exact charger are slim to none, and that 95% of the cords there never even sell.
Guess it’s time to check out the sporting and hardware section. Surely, they have gotten the message that all the old baseball gloves I used to buy before they jacked the prices up are probably not going to sell for $8 each since I’ve made it a point to not buy them for the last 2 months. Surely the fact that they have been piling up on the shelves unsold until they are taking up so much room that they are pulled is a clear enough indication that they priced them too high…
Nope. Goodwill has doubled down and upped the prices to $15 and $25 instead on gloves that don’t even sell for half of that in better condition on eBay. Effectively all they have done is lost the sale on the things I would have bought and ensured that I will just wait it out and go to the Goodwill Outlet in Salem to buy them for 30 cents each when they do not sell in the Albany store. It’s the same story throughout the entire store. Do they miss things occasionally? Yes, I still find things here and there that they did not drop the ball on, however that is only because they screwed up.
They used to get sometimes $100+ a day from me, and 90% of the time it was for things that would have sat unsold for a month before being sent to the outlet to sell for pennies on the dollar. Now they are fortunate if I spend $20 a week in their store because of how poorly ran it is. As someone who used to be on the inside there, employee production goals have ruined it for customers. Every person who’s job it is to price donations has a set dollar value they must price each day, week, and month. When you have trouble making those goals, you face missing out on raises, being demoted, getting negative marks on your reviews, and even your very job.
These production goals are NOT sales goals, they exist only to measure up the employees and the sales are a secondary thought. It’s about looking good on paper, and that translates into customers being asked for obscene prices in order to make it look like the management is doing better than they are. The whole reason you see such laughable prices is because employees are expected to meet obscene production numbers regardless of the product’s value. Often when I worked for them, I would find myself with $500 worth of donations, yet a $1000+ production goal that I could not meet unless I fudged the numbers or overpriced things that I knew were not worth what I was pricing. Obviously, the choice is clear on what to do if you wish to keep your job.

I'm a frequent customer of the Goodwill in Capitola, CA. I usually go in every other week and spend at the very least 100$. I've never had a real problem before today. Despite The store being rather disorganized and a lot of stuff isn't priced. They employ a variety of shady looking people who are for the most part friendly if not particularly helpful. I spent almost two hours sifting through the mess that the store was in and was quite pleased with some of the stuff I found. When I went up to the front I had a number of things with no tags but most were priced. The cashier rang everything up and got prices for the unmarked items that seemed fair. However just as I was about to complete the transaction a supervisor came over and said something was mispriced. She then began to go through my cart and said that a number of items had multiple stickers.
I asked to see what she was talking about and she showed me that there was a $2.99 sticker under a $1.99 sticker on an item. I thought okay so maybe the price got lowered because the item had been there awhile. However she said that out of the 30+ items I was purchasing several had multiple stickers. Considering the amount of things with no stickers and all the random stickers stuck to the shelf's throughout the store I wasn't overly shocked. The discrepancies were very minor and frankly when I'm buying $120 worth of stuff a few dollars either way is very inconsequential to me. It's ridiculous to think I'd go through the risk and trouble of changing a bunch of stuff around for a 5% discount. I think the supervisor didn't approve of the way I look and dress and so treated me quite unfairly. I was tempted to make a scene about it but chose to just walk away. I won't be donating nor shopping at Goodwill again and will certainly be sharing my experience.

I was shopping at the north Lamar location in Austin Texas. Their men’s shoes are quite overpriced, so I usually just check the women’s racks, as they’re more reasonably priced, usually around $7.99-9.99. Came across a pair Nike basketball shoes, checked the size, and thought “these will fit my buddy who loves sneakers”; price was $7.99! Went to pay (also purchasing 4-5 other shoes that day), and the cashier sees them, and it’s immediately clear she recognizes the shoes as “LeBron's” and states they’re underpriced. I said I too was surprised they were priced at $7.99, but they didn’t have laces, were kinda dirty and with the women’s shoes. Not my problem, I didn’t price them, and I assumed Goodwill would honor the sticker prices on both shoes.
She then calls for a price check, stating she bought a similar pair for $24.99 earlier that day at this location for her son (great, you still got a decent deal, also not my problem). Price checker guy says “Okay, they’re priced at $7.99. What do you want me to do?" Cashier, who clearly wants the shoes says, “make them $24.99”. Guy is like, "Why?" And I say, "I think that’s too high." He and I agree on $19.99, mostly to appease this woman.
At this point I just want to leave, as I now feel like some thief at a Goodwill... It’s a bad business practice to price items (even if it’s an employee mistake) and have someone at the register up the price to almost 3 times the original sticker price. I spend a lot of money at Goodwill (last two trips spent around $187 and $90). As a regular customer it’s pretty terrible to be made to feel like a thief. I also donate a ton of clothing, shoes and housewares to charity every month. I’ll be donating and spending my money at other thrift stores that actually treat their customers with respect in the future.

From someone who runs an eBay business and makes thousands of dollars a month from reselling Goodwill's items I can honestly say I don't blame them. I have been in different Goodwills across the East coast almost every day multiple times a day. They are being competitive. 80 percent of Goodwill shoppers resell in some way shape or form. Whether a yard sale, online, or antique booth or swap meet.
I know this because I talk and see what's going on. The other 15 percent are people driving BMW's and Mercedes that are sick and get off saving big bucks at Goodwill. It's a greedy sickness and it's everywhere. The other 5 percent is actual people who need affordable thrifted items. 95 percent of people leaving reviews here are the reason the prices are going up. You know who you are and I am one of them. I don't complain... it's just a part of business. Simple supply and demand.

Recently I wanted two books. Two books that were educational and were donated to Goodwill. Price Each? 3.99!?!? For a used, donated educational books!? How is that ethical? Add to that the average price tag on any clothing or household items is well above what a donated item should be ticketed at. Whereas Goodwill used to be a reprieve from ticket shock at department stores, yall have just joined the club. Pushing your original customer base away. He must have realized the albums we were buying was Elvis Presley-S/T Mono, The Beatles-Something New and Bob Dylan-John Wesley Harding. I think he is the manager. He told him he couldn’t sell us the records. He said he had to take them in the back to be “processed”. He said they would be out in a few days. He then went on to brag how he got a Led Zeppelin Untitled that was sealed that was donated.
A few days later we went back and that whole box of records was never brought out to the floor. To this day those records never made it to the customers. This is clearly not true because if it was, a planter from the dollar tree that’s $1.00 would not costs $2.25 in Goodwill.

Goodwill employee needs to think about why they have a job. She acted as if she was doing me a flavor. I will be giving to other organizations, I don't have to take that kind of attitude. ''Never again'' ungrateful.

For the past few months that I have been shopping at the Goodwill, the prices are getting more and more steep. Today, I saw a painting for $35. A random person drew two giraffes and framed it, it cost $19.99, a beat up stereo $35 and the speakers each costing $15.00 a piece- not even sold as a set so the whole thing cost $60. This is the Goodwill in Jamaica Plain Massachusetts. I find that the Goodwill on, Melnea Cass Blvd Ma. has hiked up the prices as well. Jeans cost 7.49 for the regular and the name brand jeans are much more (I'm not sure how much more). I think this is ridiculous. I'm wondering if the store was told to do this by headquarters or the separate stores deciding on their own to do this.
I've always spent my money in these stores and have donated some stuff as well. I like that the money helps low income families while making a profit for other programs they run but it seems they are now trying to make a profit off of the low income people to make a profit and this just isn't right. (I wish I took pictures but please check it out yourself. I'm so disappointed.

We bought several things from Goodwill W. Wendover Ave. Greensboro, clothes, summer clothes, pictures, books... and this paper... 2 packs of expensive 3 ring binder graphed paper. Neither pack made it into my bag. I went back to see where it was put because not in my bag. Instead of looking I was offered a refund. CLEARLY stolen from the young woman cashier who must not have realized it was out on the sales floor and decided she wanted it. WOW.

I’ve shopped at many Goodwills for years, I’ve never ran into more issues than the one located at MacDade in Delaware County. Managers and employees pass with the wind. What happened today is what made me finally have enough of the embarrassment, and rudeness from them. I shopped for literally hours talking to friendly employees and waiting on more items to come out in the big bins they push out, I go to check out and one of the items I have is a pressed glass punch bowl, I found laying on the ground behind a bin and not even on a shelf, it had four punch cups that matched and broken glass in it, that almost cut me.
I put it in my basket and inspect it, it had fifteen dollar tag marked “set” on the bowl and each cup was marked “set” too, I continue shopping to find three more punch cups matching it, they all had one dollar tags “each”, one cup had clearly been chipped badly underneath, and few seem to have internal cracks in the handles, so I was now left with an odd number of cups, seven. Later on shopping I just happened to find the base to the punch bowl behind some electronic equipment, it may have had a tag too for a “set” that was ten or fifteen dollars.
I then find pressed plates that appear to have similar star pattern base all marked as a ten dollar “set”. I go to check out and I already have two items purchased which I offered to wrap, I said “I have a set of glass”. She goes “OH, You going to be forever”. She turns to the lady behind me and says “come on”. I said “wait”. The cashier says “she only got this”, pointing to two paperback novels, the lady holding them says “oh that’s fine really, I can wait...” I said “na, that’s alright. You can go”. I was so taken back that in the middle of me ringing up my stuff, she volunteers someone to go ahead of me, I was literally moving something outta the way and she already assumed I was going to take so long that she has the right to take another customer, It was truly the principle, she should’ve asked me first before tell the lady to go ahead.
Beside this cashier rolls her eyes at you if you ask her to price check the smallest things that may got broke since they’ve been out, so I back getting rung up and the cashier says “you gotta box?” I said “out in the car. Want me to go get it?” She says “no”. She leaves then comes back, so it comes time to put the punch bowl and all pieces that appear to go with it, up on counter for the cashier who I thought I had made a good relationship with from frequently shopping all of a sudden sees the plates that said ten dollars a “set” and says “OH NO, NO, NO there’s no way they marked ten dollars, No, No, No, I don’t think so, I marked these myself, and they were twenty five dollars for this punch bowl set”. She is yelling angrily at me, and refusing to allow me to even speak, so I go, “take a look for yourself, I go look at each thing there is marked individually”. She turns her back on me and storms away without even acknowledging a word.
Meanwhile there’s a massive line forming, and not one person would even look me in the face, they were all embarrassed for me, you could see the disgust in their faces, as if I was some criminal changing price tags. So a man from the back comes up and asks the cashier to calm down, it going to be alright, you would think a horrific crime was just committed. He says to me “I’m sorry, but this set will have to be reprocessed and repriced”, and I said “what? That’s the price that’s on them, that’s what they're priced, there’s not one tag that says twenty five dollars anywhere on this set, I had to re-piece this thing together”.
That’s when cashier was calling me a liar, and said “I put all that out together, it was all one”, and I reiterated the same sentiments, the man then took the box containing everything into the back. I now told the cashier I don’t want the rest of the stuff in my cart, and proceeded to check out. After leaving the register in embarrassment I bagged up my things myself for I didn’t want this cashier touching my things as she complains and does a horrible job wrapping my glass items, and didn’t even offer to bag my stuff, so I just did it myself to allow the line to move on. I proceed to the back and spoke with a manager who I was told came back temporarily because the normal manager has vanished for going on two weeks without a word.
I told him the situation, he was polite and said that it’s unfortunate but someone must’ve switched the tags, I said to him “you're telling me that someone switched the tags on a punch bowl, base, seven each individually marked cups, and set of plates and then decide to scatter it about and not even buy it? That’s so absurd, why would that happen? There wasn’t one item marked twenty five dollars in that whole lot, there were a few punch cups with a dollar on them", I said. So manager shrugs his shoulders and says, "We’re trying to crack down on this and we’ve hired in store security," I said “good, so I want you to review your tapes, and see what happened, go review them”, he said “ok, I will do that”, I said “so what’s going to happen to my the stuff I wanted? You going to put it out here repriced for someone else to purchase when I leave?” He goes “No, I will have the guy do it right now”.
He then pushed door open to back room and told guy to reprice for me, right now. He told me it should be out shortly, I left store, to put my purchases in car, and waited. When I re-entered the manager was at the front, he said, "It over there in the box on counter," I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was now not even what the cashier who says she priced it at twenty five dollars, but now at an outrageous price of forty-five dollars! I shook my head and said “how did it become forty five dollars?" He said “that’s just the price they came up with in the back”. I said “you know what? That’s ridiculous, did you explain to her (the cashier) there wasn’t one tag for twenty five dollars on any of the pieces, and that they were all marked?”
I was hoping perhaps for an apology but he didn’t even say anything to her, but I’m sure she heard me, I told that manager “I may been willing to pay a little more than ten dollars because there were different prices, but I’m not paying forty-five dollars”. He then said “you know, I maybe able to take ten dollars off but that’s about it”. I said “nope, you need to review your footage, because you can clearly see it was not all together and marked twenty five dollars”. I then left, and I completely am sick of them trying to treat customers as criminals because they go through four different employees a month, most of whom are convicted criminals who are there out on community service to lighten the sentence, and these are the people who are going to appraise the free items donated in good condition, that end up being neglected, kicked, shoved, thrown in bins.
It’s a shame that so much of this stuff is broken out of pure ignorance, and carelessness. I had an issue before when the manager openly admitted that items marked as “sets” maybe not “sets” by incompetent employees, just because they can’t find the rest of the set, they say it must be a mistake with the price gun, and I told them that so many of these items I pick up all have “set” on them so you need to honor that and get me the other one or adjust the price at least since someone broke, bought, or lost the other one(s). But they go “no we aren’t going to do that, I’m sorry it’s our new trainees. They don’t know how to use the price guns, I wish we’d get rid of those guns altogether”, and I said I “understand some things may have been mistaken as sets but not one bookend, or one candle stick, it’s very likely there were probably two”.
Then the manager goes “no we wouldn’t have marked them as sets, my customers buy them as single items”. That’s when I said “your customers want only one of a pair of matching candlesticks or bookends, and you wouldn’t mark those types of things as sets?” She goes “yep, I can tell by its price whether it should be a set, if it's under five dollars it's not ever going to be marked set, so these things that are three dollars are mismarked”. I then just looked at her in disbelief and said “do you realize as a customer, how complicated all this is, and how no one would assume any of this, and that this is a lot to take in”. She goes “I just explained it to you, and I can’t do anything about it." She goes, "I can’t take anything off the price”. I said “you're assuming some things were mismarked, but it's very likely what I said about someone buy, breaking, losing the item is likely too”.
She refused to do anything because of their own employees' mistakes and instead think it's fair for me to understand their warped dysfunctional pricing issue which she keeps up in her head (the manager). These people think they're antique dealers and they take anything they choose and determine to be valuable and send it back to their main corporation to be sold online for maximum profits. The customer is left with items that can’t be shipped, such as a broken piano that they asked one thousand dollars for or a telescope that’s six hundred dollars, furniture that’s always being sold for absurd prices, broken glass and porcelain that’s being compared to rare items on eBay which are “asking” not being “sold for” things that in the vaguest ways perhaps resembled an item that the goodwill possessed, so therefore they label the items to be competitive with eBay.
You really can’t say you're a thrift store and place a one thousand dollar price tag on a used, beat up, treadmill with who knows how many hours on it and what kinda repairs it needs, and think your customer base which consists of undereducated, underfinanced, and many times just about homeless veterans and citizens have the ability or means to purchase an item anywhere the fraction of that. It’s very sad that things you wish your community to have get boxed up and shipped out for goodwill to profit off of. And yet no professionals are used, and yet three different people could come up with three different prices, and not one employee or manager said we need to honor any the tags on the items at the very least. Thank you, for your time. I hope my frustrations were understandable, and everything was caught on camera so please tell me how we can obtain if we are to continue, I do have photo on phone of item and prices.

I have found many Target items at Goodwill and they still have the Target clearance price tag and Goodwill prices them higher than the clearance prices. Goodwill production employees have to hit a target number each month and that is determined by how they price items that they get for free. Goodwill also only has one community benefit and that is teaching English to people who speak Spanish. They do not help the community in which they are located. People and companies need to start donating to Salvation Army, which helps the communities that they are in. Salvation Army is a true nonprofit organization, not Goodwill. Please stop shopping and donating to Goodwill, help make a change and share this information with your local politicians and corporations.

I went on Sunday (which here is the day a new color goes to 50% off) a few times and noticed very few items with the color of the week which seemed strange to me. In our stores, the colors are in alphabetical order beginning with blue and ending with red -- the current color was blue so I knew the new color would be green.
So, last Saturday at 7pm I went to my local store and literally counted the number of green tagged items in the dress section. All sizes from XS-3X. There were 39 total. I went to the store at 10am on Sunday -- I was first in line -- and made a beeline to the same racks. Total number of green tags -- 6 in all. Where were all the sales items? Got me, but I think it's safe to assume they were pulled from the floor and in their place were many more full-price red tagged dresses. I think it is bait and switch to lure shoppers with a 50% sale come-on and then pull those sale items from the floor, leaving only more $$ items which shoppers, already there, might buy.

I reply, "Well if you see something you don’t want I’ll leave it on my trailer." My sister stands about 5’4” trying to help me put heavy boxes of stuff in their box. If they would see something they didn’t want they would come tell us. One man comes out saying they won’t take brooms or mops because they're used. I said I used them 1 time each, didn’t like the way they worked and they look brand new. He reply “this is an upscale neighborhood that don’t like used mops or brooms even if it was one time.” I reply “this is Shawnee Kansas sir. This is far away from being upscale unless you come from a 3rd world country.”
The stuff I was dropping off was 100% better than the stuff people were dropping off and what was in their boxes. Employee comes out when I was unloading a very nice bookshelf, that has adjustable middle shelves asking where the pegs were for the shelving. I reply I’m not sure, but pegs don’t cost that much. It was obvious to me that they didn’t appreciate or care that I was making a huge donation of very nice stuff to help support their CEO’s 700,000.00 plus yearly income.
I had a box of different size screws including the big boxes of several sizes of deck screws and they didn’t want those either. Man told me to take them to Habitat for Humanity. I had enough and put the tarp back on and went to Savers thrift store that supports the Boys and Girls clubs in what I call an upscale area NOT Shawnee. When he saw it coming out he approached the lady “Mary Ann” as he was under the impression that she knew it was being priced for him.
Mary Ann starts to scream at my father so loud I hear her across the store. I go over to my father who was at that time speaking to the girl that sent the item back for pricing. She then walks up to Mary Ann to explain that she had sent the item back for pricing and Mary Ann starts screaming at her. At this point I did a little screaming of my own. Mary Ann is not only rude and disrespectful to customers but also to her coworkers. She obvious doesn’t understand that customers are what fuels her paycheck. Then in the course of the next 20 minutes we were told 6 times they were closing. Including the whining complaints of an employee wishing they could "kick the customers the heck out of there." 6 announcements/reminders/complaints in 20 minutes. When we got to the front I told the staff and the lead that it had been a miserable shopping experience due to reminders averaging every 3.25 minutes. Plus complaints. I felt harassed. The lead was just as rude as the staff. Then I was stuck in line while two staff members made repeated rude comments to me and the lead argued with me about what I heard and barely anything to correct the staff.
I understand that one of the functions of Goodwill is to train special needs people. But shouldn't there be someone teaching them that has professional skills? I understand people are tired and want to go home. But rude, insulting, name-calling behavior by staff in any place of business is simply unacceptable. I spoke back because I wasn't going to stand there and be a punching bag for the staff. And I regret responding to their rude low-class behavior. However, I feel that things would not have escalated if they simply took my complaint reasonably. If this site is receiving funds as a training center, that money is being misused. No one should be treated the way we were treated tonight.

Have been a good customer at this Goodwill store for several years. Since Goodwill has initiated its online auction site, most things that have the slightest value end up on the site, and you must pay shipping and handling, for things that were obtained gratis, by Goodwill. Our local stores, apparently all owned by one family here, have become disgusting. Have been told by former employee, that the better donations, the better merchandise, is picked by staff, and held for the owners, for their personal use.
Only the junkier things, all received free of charge, go into stock. Now they've begun to gouge their customers, and everyone see it. An item might have a TJ Maxx price tag still attached, $3.99, Management has priced it at $5.99! They are gouging the poor! It's rumored that the owners of these stores, in my area, live in mansions, and receive exorbitant salaries, cherry pick the donations, and pressure the management to gouge poor people who shop there. The employees are treated as slaves. The pressure is on the cashiers to encourage shoppers to "round up" their change from a purchase, for Goodwill's "mission".
That is laughable!! I've been into the "jobs" center - a few computers, a few pamphlets. It's a shill, a front for non-profit status, and cheating people. The cashiers are subject to disciplinary action, if they are unable to make a certain percentage of change "round up". They're asking POOR PEOPLE for their spare change, so the owner can live in a mansion!!! How can they get away with this? How do they have non-profit status?? It is clearly a "for profit" organization! Here, they pay $9.00 an hour, and pressure them to rake in money from the poor. It's absolutely disgusting. I believe it's time for some entity, IRS, and others, to get involved, to take a good hard look at Goodwill. They are not what they claim, but have become so wealthy, that it enables them to put one in every neighborhood. The convenience, in turn brings in huge donations, which is really hurting the TRUE charities, like Salvation Army, and others.
I've been told that management is mandated to have two vehicles, at their disposal, to ensure they will get to work. If they do not, they might have access to a company vehicle - not for their use, but just as a backup, but the employee must pay the taxes, insurance, and upkeep on said vehicle! How can they do that? Is that legal?? I know of one manager, a great employee, who recently walked off the job, due to this very situation. I would like to remain anonymous, but would very much like for someone to get involved. I'm happy to be contacted, and speak about my experiences at Goodwill.

I have been using the Goodwill Online Auction for several years and 2 things have recently become intolerable. First when I bid on an item early in its posting (5 days before end) I normally start biding with a relatively high bid that puts me as the current lead bidder by maybe $100, by the end of that day someone bids the item up to within one bid increment below my bid (usually $2 lower) which makes the next bidder the leader. My winning bid will stay winning for another 5 days until the last minute of the auction and then it's lost.
If they are not using shill bidders that can see my blind maximum bid then how do they 5 days early bid up to within a couple dollars of my max bid and then mysteriously stop bidding? This practice IF true would allow them to #1 get the max out of every blind maximum bid while #2 putting the item within one minimum bid from winning or #3 from a shill bidder not allowing the item to sell for my max bid price, allowing for the product to be relisted later. Reading many other reviews this practice if true seems to be systemic on this website.

For the past month, I have noticed when I go to ALL the Katy, TX Goodwill stores, they are removing all clothes, etc. that have the colored coded 75% off for the week. They take the items to the back, and remove the plastic or stickers and replace with a color that is not on special for the week. I was under the impression that Goodwill is supposed to help the people that cannot afford to go to the store and pay full price. I was also under the impression that the items are donated and do not cost them anything. What is going on? I actually have pictures of items that were a certain color the prior week and was changed. You enter on a Sunday at noon when they open, and it's an ocean of stickers and plastic coloring that have been changed.

HOLY COW! This Grafton Wisconsin Goodwill store opened 3 years ago-prices were good, MANY brand name top-shelf items, such as Coach, Miss Me Jeans, Rock Revival Jeans, etc...I could get these jeans at $6.99; however, I started noticing prices inflate steadily and skyrocket. Odd how whenever I returned to this store, no more Miss Me Jeans, or any of the brand names that were once so readily available. When I did find a nice brand, it would be jacked up to $24.99! Give me a break!! I can't tell you how many times I purchased toys that never worked-I only received store credit. Why can't I get my cash back if the toy is broken??!! Why am I forced to purchase another item from the store??
On top of that, I have noticed well-dressed businessmen in the store in the morning, giving orders to employees on what to put out on the racks and what stays in the back. Goodwill has become ultra-greedy, and they are using the ruse of "helping others get jobs" to rake in millions for their CEOs. I am done shopping at Goodwill!!! I will not support an establishment who has found a sneaky way to take donated FREE items and turn them into profit for the "higher ups." Disgusted and waiting to see what will come of this situation within a year!

I visited the store in Iowa City and noticed that the book prices have risen again. First they changed most hardbound books to a higher price, but then on this visit they changed the prices again. A lot of books were marked up to as much as $3.88, even paperback books. While scanning the books it appeared that the pricing was random as some of the same titled books were priced differently, even books of the same quality.

This is a complaint for shopgoodwill.com auction at Goodwill of Greater East Bay Oakland Fairfield, CA. I have a pleasant auction experiences in the past with some Goodwill auctions but this GW pulled a bait & switch trick on me recently. I placed a bid on an auction listing, a used Bang & Olufsen 4002 turntable & won the item & paid the amount due promptly. I received a FedEx tracking update right away that the item I won has shipped & should be arriving in a few days. The package arrived only to find out, I was sent an inexpensive Pioneer turntable, nowhere close in name or appearance to the item I bought. A lucky bidder who paid for an inexpensive Pioneer turntable ended up receiving the item that I bought & is not obligated to return the wrong item received due to Goodwill Fairfield mistake while I have to be inconvenienced for the return of the wrong item I received so I could get my money back.

At my local Goodwill in Angola Indiana I left furious after the manager said I couldn't purchase a jacket that didn't have a price tag. I was willing to pay whatever they wanted for it. It was a Northface and I only called the manager up for a price when the cashier told her it didn't have a price tag. The manager said to the cashier quietly, "It's not supposed to be out here" but I heard her say it. Then she snatches it up and says to me, "It's damaged I can't sell it to you". I said, "No it's not". (I had totally checked it overlooking for the price.) She said, "Yes it's melted on the back". I said, "I didn't see that, show me". She refused and walked to the back with it saying, "It's damaged I can't sell it to you"... But it was a lie.
I know the employees and they know me and every other reseller in our area. I asked the other employees if they thought that was right. Of course they wouldn't really even respond because of the fear of getting in trouble. It was so obvious. Everyone knows that Goodwill Industry is now in competition with reselling in general with their online sales and auctions and it's an insult to consumer (especially a reseller consumer) to have to fight with a charitable foundation over name brand goods. Consumers can buy everyday unbranded and generic items cheaper than Goodwill at retail stores. You take all the High End items and exclude them from your retail stores and I'm out. Done with Goodwill. It's obvious you don't respect the consumer let alone your employees.

I have purchased numerous items on shopgoodwill.com. I am becoming more and more discouraged with each purchase. Although some things I was satisfied with I would easily say 70% of purchases were not as described, either arriving broken (not from shipping) or missing parts. It is extremely frustrating at how obviously little time GW takes to describe their listed items. It appears they bulk list using a template for all listings. Simply stating a disclaimer that some items are not tested and/or sold for parts is unacceptable. If parts are broken or missing your listing should specifically say so.
I’ve had a couple auctions that posted a picture of a broken part, but did not mention it in the listing. Until I received the item I had no idea what I was looking at. Since the Buyer cannot physically inspect items They depend on the accuracy of the description to consider purchase. I would think GW as a reputable business would take the necessary steps to assure satisfaction. Some of the managers resolved the issue by refunding or offering a return, but overall I was still left disappointed. A little extra effort on GW behalf would go a long way.

I have enjoyed both customer service and products received in the past. I have also spent at least a thousand dollars on their online store (because their really good stuff is online Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, etc). In 2017, their shipping prices were a little out of control. I would justify it by reminding myself how much I have saved. Yet, after paying $20 for shipping, it does get irritating that they wait almost a week to ship and still send it by cheap mail so that's another week of waiting.
Shipping shakedown is their new motto for the new year. It has to be because that just makes no sense otherwise.

My friend and I went to the store located in Russellville Arkansas on Friday. As we were shopping I continued to notice this employee was obsessed so bad with standing over her and I that it was beginning to upset me badly. We were doing nothing wrong and hadn’t done anything wrong. She had became so into this that she is now holding onto my buggy and staring at me. Asking me if I am done yet. I tell her no as I was on the phone with my mom asking her about some of the items I had in my buggy before paying for them to see if I had got what she was wanting. As she tells me what she wanted and didn’t want I start to put back items on the racks where they were and she starts yelling through the store to another employee that is at the cash register that I'm putting some items back and then my friend was in front of me.
Next thing this employee does is grabs my friend's purse up out of the cart and starts going thru her purse. Now by this time I had enough so I told her off that is not the way an employee is to work. That was truly harrassment and then on my friend's purse that’s theft right there because she was not given any permission to get my friend's purse and in the end she seen we had nothing we were not supposed to. We have never stolen anything and did not like the treatment this employee pulled on us. If that is their way of security then I see in their near future their employees are going to get seriously hurt and the sad part of it all is that this is items donated to them not anything they’ve paid for. I will never go back into their store again and will tell everyone I know to stay far away from it because no one should ever be treated like that. It was truly evt and it made me very upset.

I just left the local Goodwill after getting into an argument with the assistant manager because I was charged incorrectly. The children's books I purchased were marked $.49 with a yellow tag. Yellow tags are half off today. The cashier did not give me half off the $.49 books. I realized and went back in the store to ask about it. She claimed the store policy is half off all items EXCEPT those marked $.49. I asked to speak to a manager since this "policy" was not listed anywhere and when I was there last week I received the discount on my $.49 books.
Long story short - the assistant manager kept saying the books were tagged wrong by the "special people" who work there. Claimed the books never should have been priced that low. Fought me over the $1.15 difference for ten minutes. Continued to blame everyone else. Said she couldn't do a refund but very easily completed it after I argued with her. One of the rudest people I have ever dealt with in a management position.

The company Goodwill is a very deceiving and misleading company and must be stopped. I intend to start a campaign against them. There's nothing goodwill about Goodwill except the name. They generate millions in profits and have gone online, on eBay, and on Amazon. What a wonderful business idea. Get items at ZERO cost and make profit 100% of the time while continuously raising prices. Let's make it clear, if the claim is that Goodwill helps people then it's FALSE. It helps itself. Goodwill supposedly hires less privileged people but so do Safeway and Walmart and Target and many others.
It's so disappointing that the government has done nothing to stop this rip-off. They have stores and lots and both are ridiculously expensive. They used to charge less than half of what they do now for clothing at the Lot which they charge by the pound. Now they increased it again. Who shops at Goodwill? Many Americans but also the poor and not-so-privileged. But they are directly harming these people and stealing their money.
Ordinary Americans think that by giving to Goodwill they are doing something good and helping others but they DON'T. What you give to Goodwill does not go to the needy. It gets sold at super high prices to the needy! Yup. The profits go in the pockets of the owner. They have a super large fleet of trucks just to haul the stuff people "donate" and move it around to generate the highest possible revenue off of it. It's time to put an end to this scheme under the guise of "not for profit" organization. We purchased things from them that we later found were either the same cost as a retail store or, in some instances, higher than the retail store's sale price.

I checked the Goodwill website before going through all the extra boxes we had put in storage since our cross-country move. It seemed, from the website, that Goodwill accepted most still-useful items. I did not, and even looking again after my visit to the store, see any list of exclusions. Then when I got there, after I had spent the better part of a week sorting through my stuff, separating out and reboxing about 20 boxes of housewares, games, books, toys and sporting goods, I find that they didn't want half the stuff I had, and that half was mixed in with the stuff you did want! I'm sorry, but it is difficult to sort everything perfectly, as new items will belong with other boxes which are already full, there would be MANY odd items which either aren't enough to fill a box or else just don't fit readily together.
Now, the guy running the "store" (I thought it would be a store, but it was actually just a large tractor trailer in a parking lot) took my stuff, mostly because I complained about the website not excluding much of anything. He said the national website might be different from the local one, but why should I know that? So then I re-checked the website for that local store, and in fact it didn't give any more info on what Goodwill wants and what it doesn't than the national site (the guy admitted he didn't do computers). So it's actually a big problem... Why do Goodwill websites not give clear info on what you want and what you don't want? I hate to let good stuff go to waste, but I also hate spending a lot of time separating stuff out to give to charity, only to be told, AFTER I've done all the work, that you don't want half of it! The bottom line must be that Goodwill needs to be much more clear, right up front, what it wants and what it doesn't want!

Good morning, I have been a customer of the Goodwill Industry for over forty years. I frequent the Lodi store often. Finding this store to be reasonable in their pricing, great location and above reproach when it comes to cleanliness. I promote this store on a continuous basis and on this day, my family gathered, I took a family member who was visiting to the Lodi location. My family member was excited because she knows I don't boast on anything that is not right.
We get to the Lodi location, look around, I find many items for self. Looking up to see where my family member is located, I find myself being witness to an item falling from the top shelf and hitting her in the head. There's a young lady with her child who lunges forward to interfere with the item also hitting her small daughter. Both adults look shocked and speak about the danger of certain items being on upper shelves. Neither persons were handling items on the said shelf. My family member requested to see a manager stating her head was starting to hurt. One of the associates left to get the manager. After 15 minutes of waiting for the manager to come out from the back, I ask another associate to please go and retrieve her/him.
I continue to calm my family member. Finally, the manager as she (PAO - pronounced POW) introduced herself, came and spoke to my family member. My family member asked for her to make an incident report and shared the danger of large unstable items on the top shelf. The manager left with the promise of returning. It took some time for her to return. The manager took the report and didn't seem to know the correct procedure or adequately be able to verbally communicate effectively. She did take comfort in having another associate at her side, whom laughed behind her back and looked amused when she tried to be of managerial material.
In the end, there were several missing information or incomplete. In the waiting for the final rendition of the incident report, I went to the car and called customer service, talking with a rep. named Anthony. I repeated the problem at hand. Anthony was in awe when told of the 20 minute wait for the manager to come from the back. I told him we were still waiting again for her to go and make a copy, this being another 15 minute or more wait. The rep. instructed for me to call headquarter which he gave me the number to please go and get the manager. We waited another five minutes for her to come out with her entourage following. One of the associate came from the back by herself and just stared us down-not saying anything just staring us down. Wow!
Pao returns finally, with the report which has not been changed to specify the correct account of the incident or input of the correct information as she said she would. She states she has done enough and there would be no change. She also states, after I ask again, that she is not the manager. She states nervously that she is just looking after the store while having the supposed manager on speaker phone (her personal cellphone). I asked, "Why have you been telling us for the last hour that you were the manager?" I already understood why she had been telling us this; she took the position title in order to handle the immediate issue at hand, not knowing the title comes with an ability to comprehend English in its entirety. I even ask her did she speak Spanish because we could of spoke to her in this language. She stated she didn't speak Spanish.
While she was speaking, her associate who had been by her side, had the look of: What are you going to do now? She stood and looked in amusement. The phone was eventually given to my family member and she spoke with real manager. All the while standing at the cash register, on speaker phone and in front of many customers. I was speaking to the Pao asking her; when her and the other associates turn to go to the back of the store did I hear, “She hit her head and then you all started laughing?". Quickly she said it didn't happen but when I told her I was looking right at them when the statement was made and laughter was heard. She said, "Sorry". The associate whom was being designated to stay by her side, bucked her eyes and twisted her lips in a half smile. The look that said "Well, she got you there".
Pao was not in a good place as she raised her voice to me, I quickly cut her off and let her know that her anger or fight was not with me, and it would be wise to keep it this way. The (real) manager said, "Who is that talking?" I then take the phone from my family member who is now frustrated by all the wait tactics from the employees. I state who I am and asked his position. He tells me he is the manager of the store; this explains the delay response earlier from Pao on her true position. He asked was I there or did I see what happened. I tell him yes, that the injured came with me to the store. He then wants to know how could I have seen what happened. I quickly tell him that the store is adequately lit, has no objects that forbid me from seeing across the store and is favorable in cleanliness.
What I said must not have been to his liking. He then gets haughty and states that I might not have see correctly. I am offended by this and the fact that we are still on speaker which leaves the gathering customers intrigued. I tell him in a "you are crossing many boundaries" voice: "If your comprehension level is not up to par today, then maybe I should give the phone back to your improperly trained employee, who should not have been left to her own devices while watching the store on her own". He then says, "Yes, you should give the phone back to her". At this point, I share again that this is taking far too long and that I don't have all this time to be dealing with this issue or rudeness. The whole time that I am speaking, the rep. for Goodwill is still on the phone. He tells me to surely call corporate and let them know what has transpired. He apologizes over and over again.
We leave because my mother is calling and the family is waiting on us. I reiterate that I will be calling corporate headquarter. I call corporate on Monday the 3rd and get an answering service which messages can't be left. There is no name to associate with the directory. I try calling between seeing my patients. After six to seven tries, I finally, call customer service and asked for another headquarters in a different region. After sometime in explaining the reason for asking, the rep. (Aaron) finally gives me a number after 23 minutes. I call and get a delightful named young lady named Mya. I tell her my problem and the prior experiences that bring me to this point. Mya is responsive and takes information which will be escalated to the appropriate person.
I have taken these minutes, hours to write this. I am without words on how devastated this incidence has made me feel. I have been satisfied with the Goodwill for over 40 years. This has put me in a state of mind of regret. To say nothing on how upset my family member was; I had to apologize to her . She was so upset, on top of having an aching head, that she could not even eat on our return to the house. She was truly upset and swore she should have never went into the Goodwill.
Called on 7/6/17 to customer service. Aaron answered the phone. I told him of my previous phone calls on 7/2/17, 7/3/17, 7/5/17. He told me to go to the website. I told him that I had already did that and to just give me a corporate number in any region. He told me his opinion. I asked for a number six to seven times. He then proceeded to tell me that I knew nothing about how Goodwill worked. He said he knew more than me. Then he said, “Don’t have me hang up on you.” I hang up. I call back and it’s him again. I asked to talk to his supervisor. He says they’re busy. I asked for the supervisor’s name. He says hold on and come back and says "George". I say "George’s last initial." He says ** and hangs up. I await a response.

They have this stores in expensive locals and they really get high with the prices. They put one price for lets say pants, shirts and same items. Well, they are not even close to the same condition so why they all cost the same. Also, designer stuff like Coach, or Michael Kors, they sell it almost as the price that in a store. You find this old worn out purses that wouldn't worth more than $500 for over $20.00. Also, they are not well skilled handling customers. I found a purse the attendant gave it to me from behind the counter with a price it was reduced. Then I got another attendant in the line and the passed me like I had changed the price. I didn't argue, just told her to keep it. Compare to Family Thrift they are way behind. Also, they are not really non- profit or for the benefit of the poor. It belongs to a huge rich corporation.

I've always loved shopping at thrift stores like Goodwill. In the last year I've noticed that many of the items I have always bought at Goodwill were as expensive as buying new at Walmart or Ross. Sports bras, leggings, and even personal hygiene items are either the same price or more! I even asked a retail associate to look up a price on an unopened box of panty liners because it was the same regular price at several of the local retailers and she told me, "That is the price they've decided on and I have no ability to change it!". Did I say "Not for Profit?" earlier? I don't donate to them anymore which is a shame since I've donated almost exclusively to them for over 35 years.

So I go in on Saturday they have a spend $25 get 25% off. They advertise it over the loud speaker. I go to check out and the sale changed to you get a coupon for your next purchase. I look at my receipt and I have to use it within 2 days. I CALL IT BS! Do they really expect me to go back in 2 days just to use a coupon I earned with my own money RIDICULOUS! First of all Goodwill has gotten so greedy that everything is way over priced I mean REALLY! A pair of used jeans $9.99 and up. Wow I can go to Marshall's or Ross and buy a new pair for less. I am a bargain/clearance shopper and I love to spend but I cannot be a willing spender at these prices. I use to drive to other side of town just to go to the Goodwill stores and now there is one just down the street from me. I went on grand opening day. I bought a few high end purses or so I thought for around $40, $50 bucks. Coach/Gucci and found they are all fakes. Wow!
How is it that they can get away with this. So since then I said "Forget this I will take my business some where else". I have only been to this Goodwill store 3 times since they opened I don't go across town either. I was a big spender at Goodwill. Well not any more. I buy online from high end stores and always find great items on clearance from clothing to make up to soap and by the way I have never seen a full parking lot at the new Goodwill store here in Henderson and I have overheard many other complain about the high prices at the Goodwill store when I am at Smith's, Walmart and other stores. This just goes to show how right I am about the prices at the Goodwill now.
Won't surprise me if the store closed for good in the near future. They built a whole new building even though there is an empty building across the parking lot where the Food 4 Less used to be. What a waste of money. GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY. LAST WORD OF ADVICE FOR GOODWILL DON'T SELL USED UNDERGARMENTS (PANTIES). THAT'S JUST NASTY.

Goodwill Store, RENO, NV. Went in store, prices was doubled to price at home in Arkansas. Clothes was not that good, could tell they was used a lot. Shirts here $4.50, at home like new $2.50. Pillowcase $1.99 for 2, home 2 for $.50 cents. At home everything is almost new items, store in RENO had trashy items, charging price as new like Wal-Mart. My thinking all Goodwill are to charge the same price in all stores across the United States. This store 2424 Oddie Blvd, Reno, NV was not a good store. I walked around looking for t-shirts, reg. shirts and women's clothes, had nothing worth buying. Clothes they had I cut up for grease rags. Need lower those prices. Goodwill is to help poor people. These people running this store trying to make big money to pocket it, prices way too high for poor people. They can go to Walmart buy same thing but not same price. I will not go to another Goodwill while I am here in Fernley, NV. Long drive to Reno.

When shopping for clothing on a particular day and the price tag of the day is nowhere to be found in the store. I was told by employees at several different stores in multiple counties that the night before a sale all that they do is remove the color that is going to be for the day so there may be 5 to 10 items in one entire store. Or items that are with that color or just so outlandish and so few and far between you cannot find them. Mysteriously and miraculously there is an abundance of every other color. How can they say they're doing good for the community when they're making people who can afford to shop at Goodwill pay regular store prices? I think someone should sue them for fraud. And investigate them for fraudulent practice.

I use to LOVE shopping at Goodwill. I'm a firm believer in recycling and love to give back however, I have decided to give (along with my friends and family I can convince) to Salvation Army instead. You would think because the items are donated, Goodwill wouldn't try to make a fortune off others free goods. I have also notice ALL the overpriced stuff! Not moving? I'm wondering: Are others thinking the same way I do? I pick up something I like only to discover I can get it at Walmart for less the price. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this. I don't normally write reviews but I find this to be an important one! Shouldn't you encourage people to want to shop at Goodwill? Goodwill - Good-riddance.

Has anyone noticed lately that the stores (as in bricks and mortar) now are just filled with junk the people cannot sell at their garage sales? There is a very good reason for this. Goodwill has launched their own eBay site and now anything that is worth anything is now on there. This isn't right, people are donating these items for the poor to be able to afford something that still has a use and Goodwill now is making tens of millions off this money making scheme. Go look for yourself. http://shopgoodwill.com That is NOT RIGHT! This is supposed to be a charity, not another Walmart.
I asked an associate at the Orland Park, IL store on 5/31/17 which used to have shelves of very high quality shoes, "Where are all the shoes?" as the shelves were just about empty and the only stuff left on there was just junk that really belonged in the garbage that they wanted about 10 bucks a pair or higher for. I was told by the associate, "Oh those are all online now." That is BS! So now, a pair of decent shoes for the poor require a poor person to first have a computer which many don't, then they need a credit card or PayPal account, then they get to bid against people with high paying jobs that would typically not step foot in one of those stores because they found the item through Google which brought them to their site? That is not right! Greed at its best.

I felt terrible for the one she was yelling at as this one was just continuously telling her she was sorry and began crying.
Then skinny cashier that was helping me first of all made me wait for her to get back around the counter as she had to get involved with this general manager and her attitude. When she finally did go to take care of me she went to hand me the money but then turned AGAIN, away for me to then carry-on about how this manager has really bad anxiety but that she's going to be OK. In the meantime I'm reaching my hand out waiting for my money still, but this skinny older lady with really short hair could not get it together. Goodwill is taking away the MGB plan that helped many with the five dollar coupon, saying the new card system they have is not working right. Now they are saying, "We will give you double credits on your card when you buy something." Their prices are so high on items that they get for free and are not worth the price they place on them. In April I had used my Goodwill card and the five dollar coupon was right there. Now in May I was told, "We are changing the system, and have sent out letters to you about that."
We always hear the commercials they claim they help people and are asking us to donated gently used clothing and in good shape items. They make it sound like a consignment shop when it is mainly them that get the benefit. The CEO there is a millionaire. If the card is not working out for the MGB plan then they should just easily go back to the blue coupons. Goodwill is taking advantage of our donations, we need to speak up and get the customer benefit back.

The item (halogen lights) I bought was 6.69, and then the register lady takes off the price sticker and tells me it is the wrong sticker, calls the manager and they say I can't have the item for that price after already paid for. Then the manager said, "A child must of changed the ticket price on this item." Me & my husband said, "No a kid didn't do that," so they didn't give me the item for the price I paid for it. I said, "This is the second time this has been done to me at this store. I am very embarrassed, and now you're gonna take the item back." I said, "I am never shopping here again."
I told them that their store is too ridiculous on their prices. They wanted to charge me $19.99 for the same item I just had bought for $6.99. I said, "No I want my refund back into my account, and I am never shopping here again." I told them my pastor told us that he went into this same store and for a pair of used boots, warn a lot they wanted $79.99 for them. Twice I have had this happen to where they take the tags off and say it's not the right price, and change the price right in front of me. That is just wrong. Good Bye Goodwill, never again will you get a penny from me again. Then when you pay for the item, they always want to round up for the workshop program. I can see why they need rounding up. Because if they keep changing prices at the checkout, no one wants to go back.

I can't believe the prices at Goodwill. The prices on clothing cost more than new clothes from Walmart. Additionally, they always ask if you want to "round-up" from the purchase price as yet ANOTHER donation to them. I purchased a sweater from them for $7.99. After tax came to about $8.80. I told the cashier, "yes, go ahead and round it up to $10.00." Imagine my surprise when I got home and realized she had "rounded-up" the price to $20.00. So I basically gave them an $11.00 donation on an $8.00 purchase. When I went back to the store, they refused to refund my money. Also, if you buy anything electronic, take it out of the box or packaging and make sure they plug it in for you to see if it works. I bought a handheld carpet shampooer; when I got home and opened the box it was cracked and useless, and should have been tossed by the store. It should have never ended up on a shelf.

However the store is selective to which items those discounts apply! Extremely deceitful don't you think. It gets better. I'm writing this reluctance & shocked letter. This letter is regarding a formal complaint against one of your Castle Rock, CO employees named Audrey a cashier. Her customer service skills are very disrespectful and I felt as if race also played a part as well. Let me say I have always like shopping in this Goodwill and have never by any other employees been treat in such a manner. Each week it's always have a color that allow the product to be sold for less as checking out. Audrey the cashier start snatching items and stated "I can't sell this for this price" and stated that she had to send these items back to pricing person.
So I ask if I could speak with a manager because I knew all these items has the pink tags some with white clear stems, some with black stems and some with pink stems but carried a pink ticket. So in asking the manager Angel "what process is used to send your merchandise back to the warehouse for pricing." "These are donations." And how she would snatch these items back not to be sold or brought by me because neither one could explain how Audrey could snatch items from me and make a decision not allowing me to purchase those items for the color of the week and making a statement that she can do that if she feels as if these items were tamper with.
I ask her "Are you accusing me?" Then got real quiet and stated "That's what you was saying." And told the young lady Audrey "Are you saying that because I'm woman of color?" She refused to clear it up. I never been treated in that manner. Such incidents make the company prone to racism profiling lawsuits. I suggest that Goodwill response quickly to this matter by letter or phone and apology.

We are a family of seven, with five growing children. So, since the children grow quickly, we often find several of their outdoor play clothing at Goodwill to help with the overall cost. The prices with Goodwill have not only continued to grow, it has gotten to a point that I would rather go across the street to Walmart to pay for a brand new shirt rather than save a dollar and have a used one with some stains.
The BIG kicker has been on three occasions the past couple months where my wife or I have found clothing with the original price tag on them. Guess what?? The price of Goodwill was more expensive than the price on the tag. (Now in transparency, two of them were sale prices - but the cost at Goodwill was still more expensive.) We even took pictures to show others... very sad!! Goodwill should be ashamed of the prices they have. Not only this but now their "better quality" is at a price I quit buying and go to Walmart! Although we can pay these prices, there are families out there that can't... Isn't that what you are supposed to do - help other families?? Disappointed in Goodwill!!!

Goodwill Store, Wooster, OH - If I could rate with NO STARS, I would! Shopping with friends last week. I have only shopped at Goodwill twice before. My one friend is an AVID shopper at thrift stores, 2 days a week, every week. We split up to different depts. I went to housewares to browse. I found ceramic measuring cups with the Hallmark logo stamped on the bottom... no price! There was an employee down the same aisle with me, stocking shelves. I politely asked if she could get me a price. She said she would need to go in back to check with her supervisor. As she was walking away, she was looking the cups over and noticed a tiny chip on the bottom of one of the cups, maybe the size of the head of a Q-tip! She showed me and mentioned it to me, as if to ask if I still wanted a price. I said it was okay.
While she was gone, I continued to browse and noticed several drinking glasses and other items with HUGE cracks and chips in them. When the employee returned, she was walking away, not looking at me, continuing to walk as she abruptly told me, "I checked with my supervisor and because there was a chip on the bottom, the cups had to be destroyed so SHE THREW THEM AWAY!"
I was in SHOCK! Speechless, which is saying a lot for me! When I told my friend, the avid thrift store shopper, what had happened, she couldn't believe it. My friend suggested I probably should have gone to checkout and asked the cashier to get me a price! We both agreed, either the employee OR the "supervisor" decided to keep those cups for themselves!!! I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't SPEAK UP and tell this employee that I'M NOT THAT STUPID, but I didn't want to cause a scene in GOODWILL over measuring cups! I was dumbfounded that she returned with such a story!!!
I have complained to Goodwill directly, describing the incident AND the employee in detail! Not that it will do any good, as I see from all the complaints, Goodwill is not an HONORABLE resale shop. Have decided not to EVER go into another Goodwill store OR to donate ONE ITEM to them, which is exactly what I expressed in my complaint to them. Sooner or LATER, everyone's "rope runs out". Hoping Goodwill's rope is SHORT!!!

So she change the price to $19.99 and said, "Are you going to get this?" I left disappointed.
I think some employees in Goodwill are corrupt. These are donated items from people with good heart and want to help but many employees has corrupted it. They should get fired or disciplinary action. I've been shopping and donating to Goodwill for years. Lately I started seeking out other thrift stores that I can shop at with a decent selection that won't cost me a full week's paycheck. But this is not my reason for writing this review. It was 2 years ago during one of the coldest winters here in San Diego. I was close to closing time and standing in line at the Goodwill store located on Rosecrans in San Diego. While waiting in line a homeless vet came in and asked if they could kindly donate a blanket or a jacket he could use to try and keep warm. He was a sincere, well mannered elderly man. The employee stated that he needed to ask the manager. The employee continued to check people out without calling the manager. After about 5 min standing there he asked if she could please get the manager. With a sick and disgusted look and another 2 min she finally went to the back to get the manager.
When the manager arrived to the front the man excused himself for the interruption and asked if goodwill could donate a blanket to him and that he was vet and was homeless at the time. He pulled out his credentials to show the manager but the manager refused to offer any help and asked if he could leave and that he was disturbing the customers with his presence. I was so furious that I walked out of line went and got a blanket as fast as I could, handed it the kind hearted man and said I wish I could do more.
I then turned around and threw back the items I had in my hand, tossed a 20 to the cashier and said, "That is for the blanket and it will be last thing I will ever purchase from a goodwill ever!" The manager just stood at the door and right before I walked out I told the manager that the only thing disturbing was him! These are our donations! If you can't pay it forward even in the smallest way with something so minimal when really needed Goodwill deserves to get what they give!! NOTHING.

She said "yes, bring your receipt and we'll refund your money." Well I went home, turn it on, the volume was not working. So I went the next day, took it back with the receipt, and the manager comes out. I explain to her that it was not working, that I want my money back. And she saids "no you're not getting your money. You could pick something else." I said "no there's nothing else I want here." So she saids "well you're not getting your money because when you buy something for 20 or more we don't return your money."
So I said "that's not right. The policy in your door saids you have 24 hours to return any electronics." So she plainly saids "well then it's your loss." I think it's not right that the manager treat people so badly and don't care and she stood with the stereo too. The reason why I'm writing these is because people like her makes Goodwill look so bad. I will never go there or let any of my friends or family member go and I will get my money back even if I have to get my lawyer involved. I will never donate to Goodwill again and I will spread the word to seek out other charities in need.

I've been shopping at Goodwill for 30 years. The prices kept getting higher while the selection got worse. But at least once in a blue moon I'd find a deal or antique and it was a prize. Then they started marking up the special items so they cost more than new. Then I started noticing there wasn't one quality brand item in the store even though I have seen designer merchandise donated all the time. It was clear someone was getting to the good stuff before it went on the floor, and this is more than one store. But NOW they are auctioning things online, my local store is full of ten year old mass production garbage in xs size only, stained, and priced higher than retail, household items I wouldn't pay a quarter for at a flea market, and the junk red tag items from Target, broken, damaged and half off retail, is priced HIGHER than Target tried scaling it on clearance.
The MOST OUTRAGEOUS THING is they treat this garbage like rare treasure, underwear ripped out of the package and overpriced, if you dare peek under the layers of masking tape they use to repair the packaging to see if everything is still there (I've bought EMPTY boxes of red tag Target merchandise before and when I returned to complain they accused ME of trying to pull one over). They yell at you as if you damaged the original packaging or something. This happened again just this morning when I was debating on paying ten dollars for a red tag playdoh toy, it was closed up with a tiny piece of scotch tape, so I peeked inside, the employee came over screaming pulled it out of my hand and as she was rearranging the toys back in the box (they fell when she yanked it from me). It was clear a good deal of the toys were missing! So I was suppose to pay ten bucks for a useless incomplete toy???
The customer service is pathetic (so is the turnaround) and I never seen a disabled person working in this store EVER. (Rude old ladies and recovering drug addicts with bad manners are not my idea of disabled, especially when they treat me like that and want my donations and money.) So the red tag rip offs and the lack of quality merchandise and rude employees put me off, but now anything decent is online for auction, you won't see me in a goodwill again. (If I want abuse I will marry a football player!)

And another thing put the store back to the same way you had it and why in hell mark prices up so high. It's not a damn mall. It's not like you went out and bought the stuff yourself. People gave it to you. I mean be for real I mean I was in there the other day a stupid crockpot 25.00. Hell I'll rather go to Walmart and pay the same price. BUT, it also came locked to AT&T and with a sim card. It's also attached to a phone number already. AT&T is refusing to unlock the phone, and Sprint states that the phone seems to be partially unlocked, yet not completely. They've never seen anything like it. AT&T won't even give a reason why they can't unlock the phone. It isn't blacklisted. It isn't Icloud lock. It's basically just sitting in my house collecting dust. I saw an item that I wanted to but at the Crofton, MD location but the price was much higher than what it was selling for online and so I asked if they would make an adjustment based on the information I was able to provide. They said that is the price and that they can't change it and the person that makes the prices was not there so I could take it or leave it. Needless to say, I will not shop there again. This is the second time in less than three years that our local Goodwill did not honor the "Punch" Card and now the Super Saver Card. On both occasions, I accumulated over $60.00 only to abruptly be informed that they "don't honor these cards anymore." If Goodwill is going to discontinue a service at least give the consumer a chance to redeem their cards or "grandfather" those that have existing balances. This is not good customer service. I'm not only a customer but I donate throughout the year... every year. Goodwill needs to relook their practices and if they are going to cut these services, do it fairly and treat ALL their customers with dignity and respect and honor their cards. We earned it!

I have shopped at Goodwill for decades, but things have changed. They now sell the better items online. Won several auctions & in receiving the items, the items pictured were not there. Since I buy mainly jewelry and paid upwards of $100.00 each for several lots, I was upset. Called the stores from different parts of the country where I had purchased items to find out why & it took forever to find person to talk to. They explained there is no guarantee the items would be the same. Also found out that employees can bid on the auctions. Fox in charge of the hen house comes to mind. Shipping was outrageous when USPS flat rate priority shipping would have worked great. The shipping took forever.
Goodwill gets the items for free, but they are so greedy now they are sickening. They pay the employees little and the CEO gets $350.000+. I am complaining because someone needs to stop their practices or at the least advise other consumers about their practices. My purchases were a few years ago, but they have now started the online auction in my local area, so no more local shopping where I can see what I am buying and am sure to get what I buy.

The Barboursville, WV Goodwill Store seems to have a new way of running the Color of the Week program: They re-tag old merchandise which they couldn't sell for a high dollar amount on the day before their colored tags are marked down to $1. An overpriced used balance beam bathroom scale with a yellow tag had been sitting unsold for several weeks and remained unsold through last week, even though it was half of the price on the tag. As of Sunday 1/29/17, it would have sold for $1, except that the store re-tagged it with a purple tag. The new price was 50% higher than what it would have sold for last week for half of the yellow tag price.
I could not find any yellow tag items anywhere in the store, despite seeing several a couple of days ago. I assume the employees re-tagged every yellow tag item that sold for more than a few dollars. Why have a "Color of the Week" program if the organizers CHEAT on it??? You can guess what my answer will be when Goodwill asks if I'd like to round up to the next dollar on my purchase. I hope they don't expect to have anything I've bought from them donated to their store after I croak. Seems like lots of donations wind up in a dumpster, anyway. I didn't buy anything after discovering what they did.

He said the auth had to be toward, although I could have driven it in. Three weeks later I received an IRS Statement that showed this total donation at $500. I expressed my utter displeasure in confirming that my charity of choice would get $255! For a Mercedes in good shape. In a follow up he advised that Goodwill, above their #0%, charged an $45 Administration Fee, and $85 Towing Charge. The Charity of my choice said they 'look into this,' and Goodwill, had their Head of Operations forward documentation showing the above.
Frankly, I believe that there may be 'skimming,' call it would you will involved. Are there 'Referral Fees'? The truly sad part is that organizations like Goodwill, Red Cross, United Fund, et al are really conduits where a fraction of your contribution goes to a Cause, and many on their Staffs are paid outsized salaries, prerequisites, handsome expense accounts, etc. Lesson learned... next time I will sell my vehicle, or other material good, and give the cash to the charity, and will NEVER give to the well known, but often dicey charities.

I was lucky to win a bid on a Super Nintendo game cartridge which weighs about 6 oz. A reasonable USPS priority mail shipping is about $4 and at most could of gone with a flat rate small box for $6.80. But somehow shipping was $9.12 priority mail not even overnight and on top of that $4 handling fee.
The Goodwill people are just greedy thieves robbing people blind with the shipping taking their $1-$3 cut from shipping going into their pockets like if they do not have their goldmine already with handling fees which they have in all items, in my case was $4. Like come on the USPS gives free boxes, tape and wrap. Any company should have that. Just do the math. For mostly all items on that site there's a handling fee of $2-$5 or even more. Just pocketing that money and all coming from donated things they get free like if it was not enough. Just with the stores it hit them they can go online and rip off people, overcharge shipping and rob them blind with handling fees. That is where their goldmine is at if you tell me.

Yes, Goodwill's CEO makes a disgusting large salary. Since the Salvation Army is a religion, their CEO makes what? 12K? I shop on Goodwill Auction because they have an easy to navigate website, and a fairly simple buying procedure. They also have lots of interesting stuff. If I see an item in which I am interested, the first thing I do is to check the shipping charge. Sometimes the shipping costs as much as the item. But this site is a lot like eBay: There's always tomorrow and an identical or similar item. If the item is something you want, maybe it's worth the cost plus shipping charges. The people who fulfill the orders are paid by Goodwill. They have a job. Will I pay extra if I know it's worthwhile? You bet. The carrier, not Goodwill determines the cost of shipping. All of the bargains I have purchased are items about which the average person has no idea of their worth.
If I see something I know is much more valuable than the bidding amount (and I'm not interested) I email that Goodwill location and offer my opinion. For example, My three-year-old grandson is crazy for Hot Wheels. Goodwill sells them in bulk for appalling low amounts. After checking eBay and some other sites I learned Hot Wheels collectors are adult males, some Hot Wheels cars are more collectible than others. Two or three hundred dollars for an old toy car not in great shape? Peanuts. When I learned that Hot Wheels with a red band around the tires -- aka redlines -- are worth some serious jack, I contacted Goodwill Auctions. Instead of a few dollars for a bucket full of cars which may or may not include redlines they now sell individual cars for $50, $100, or more.
So here's the deal: Goodwill Auction does help people, and by sharing your expertise and funds it can help even more. Their CEO earns way too much money. That's a great big minus. I donate my stuff to the Salvation Army: They help those who have fallen through the cracks of the social network. I like to think that my time and expertise have a value to both.

I was high bidder for a framed in glass butterfly collection. When it arrived it sat almost two days before I opened it. (I had been sick) after opening it I saw that it was as described and sat it back in the box. Next morning, I awoke to these red welts on my legs and arms. I didn't know what to think of it. Following morning I was covered in these welts everywhere. I got worried and went to the doctor. First thing he said when he saw me, "Bedbug Bites." He asked me a bunch of questions, and then I remembered the box from Goodwill.
Sure enough, when I got back home and looked deeper into the box, there were bugs in it! They had been sitting in my house for 4 days, who knows how many escaped in that time. I bagged up as many as I could in a ziplock bag. I then contacted the seller store that sent the item and they gave me a full refund. $9.00 for item $10.00 shipping, I didn't ask for a refund and I don't see any mention of bedbugs on their disclaimer. Goodwill sent two emails with the same random message telling me I would be refunded. Not knowing what I was up against I started gathering information about bedbugs, and became increasingly more angry at Goodwill. I have spent over $650.00 so far to eradicate these bugs and it's not over yet. I think Goodwill has some responsibility to its unsuspecting customers when shipping their merchandise.
I thought bedbugs only were in bedding or clothing. Not true. I have washed and dried everything in my house that I could get into the washer. To date, over 60 loads of laundry, etc. And it's only been three weeks. I emailed a complaint letter and no one has replied. I can't believe this is happening and I would never want this to happen to anyone else. There ought to be a law! I was on shop.goodwill.com today (have been for over a year) and decided to write something on this site. While the bigwigs are making hundreds of thousands of dollars, they are paying their workers who have disabilities about 3/4 of scale according to newspapers. Goodwill seems to be profiting on the backs of minorities, and disabled employees. What else? shop.goodwill.com, is certainly making millions from people who are not knowledgeable enough to avoid the site. Today, Vintage Liberty Nickel 1908 (34213008) is being sold for $13.99 AND it has 2 bids. WHY? Is one of these a shill bidder or do these people NOT realize this coin is only worth .50c on a good day on almost any other auction site like the world's largest eBay?
Do people just like spending money and getting very little in return? Do we really have this much money that we don't care how to spend it? Why don't you give it to me? I have $100,000 in student loans that if I was selling on Goodwill, I could pay off my loans and retire after one year, never have to work again! Other people are paying $10 for a single buffalo nickel, again it's only .50c on other site but wait there's more...
I STUPIDLY bought a set of coins in a plastic paged folder for $96 (supposedly they were foreign coins, different countries). I got them and they were all Chinese made and magnetic. Worthless. Not worth the high postage I was forced to pay. I complained to Goodwill, they admitted they knew they were counterfeit as they stated to me in their letter, they are ACKEY coins and there was an article on PCGS.com website concerning these a few years ago. So they KNEW they were fake but they chose not to reveal this information in their auction. The Goodwill is in Astoria, NY. I complained to the Secret Service and they simply said, "We don't investigate counterfeit coins anymore, it's a buyer beware issue" and Goodwill knows it. They do not offer money back. What you see is what you get.
If you are unknowledgeable about coins, clothing, painting, misc items and you spend your hard earned money through their stores/auction sites, they will just say, "We can't verify the authenticity of our products as these are all donated items". Bigwigs are laughing all the way to the bank and yet people keep lining up to them and say "Here please take this evil money for your wonderful product".
Another thing, how about the shipping...Elizabeth II DG Reg FD (34170171) to my address in Spokane from the Goodwill in Virginia. One small coin will cost me $11 to get here. Are they crazy? I can mail it in a padded envelope with tracking for $2.62. I have bought comics from Texas Goodwill for $50 shipping. I found out really quick to verify shipping before I bid on such a small lot. Another lot, you can guarantee that it will be a $20 item for $5 coins/bills 34260483 - Assorted Foreign Currency (Canada & More). It will cost me $10 (actually $9.96) to get this item from Indiana, of course there is a $2 handling fee. But again, they are still double the price of what it really costs them. If I charged my customers that high of postage on my items. I would be out of business in a hurry. So why does Goodwill continue to flaunt excessively high postage costs and sell coins and many more items at 10 to 20 times what they are worth?
People just don't have a clue as to what they are buying. When they get burned by Goodwill, they say nothing, do nothing, not even warn others. Shill bidding can happen if the Goodwill employee wants to drive up the price, then he enters a bid and since you cannot see the bidders' identities, this is very possible, therefore you are now paying more for the item. People want to support a company who seemingly is taking advantage of its employees according to Forbes.com and they like giving away their money and they don't want to be told how to spend their money so they will continuously and recklessly pass it to Goodwill. Again, the bigwigs at Goodwill thank you for your support and not thinking about the possibly counterfeit coin or high priced postage. After all, they need to pay for their $500,000 to million dollar homes and their gold plated golf clubs. If I was you, I would reconsider Goodwill as a good place to shop.

It used to be priced really fairly and I would purchase things quite often. Over the last few months they have raised the pricing on the Target overstock/return items to outrageous levels. To the point that where the stuff is now more expensive than it was at Target. A great example, a pillow with a tag attached saying "set of 2" that had a Target price tag on it for $14.99. They only had 1 of the 2 pillows and it was tagged $9.99! They have a ton of basic large totes and my local store which sold originally at Target for between 15-20 dollars. Then they were on clearance forever for less than 10. I saw them at the store. Goodwill has loads of them and they are priced at 14.00. How is that a deal?
My local store has about 6 bins of notebooks... The basic ones that sell for 10 cents during back to school time. They are priced at 50 cents a piece. They have tons of linens; curtains, sheets, pillow cases, etc priced between $15 and $39 each. And that's for ONE sheet, ONE curtain... That's higher than Target. My favorite is seeing the Target stuff that they sell for $1; it's tagged that way from Target... My Goodwill has it for 1.99. Why?? Target woman's tank tops that you can get at Target for $6 they have for $5. Why bother when I can go to Target when they are on sale (all the time) and get them cheaper? It's a joke.

I watched a chi flat iron on Goodwill online Auction, ALL night because my 16 year old has been wanting this brand of flat irons. All night I was the winning bidder until when the auction was over and suddenly 3 bids within seconds apart show up after the auction is over. It states they were bidded at 7:06 but NEVER did they show up until after the auction was over! Where were the bids the whole time during the auction? Why was I the leading bidder the whole auction? Why did they even put items on the auction that you know the customer has no chance to get? I guess their employee that wanted the item got the item.
I've read the consumer affairs reviews on their auction process and it is rigged! Don't get me started on shipping and handling price gouging. All the money that they make because of their greedy ways, they should be able to hire someone to negotiate costs with the USPS. Poshmark offers 5.95 shipping, why can't they get a set rate? Let me guess. $! These items are DONATED and Goodwill goes overboard with being greedy and crooked. For what reason? I hope the employee that "won" the flat iron burns the hell out of her/his hair for being sneaky about her bidding process. Shame on Goodwill! I will post my review on consumer affairs and any other review website!! Let it be known: Goodwill online Auction is rigged! My 1st and last experience for sure!

I took some boots to the service desk to pay for them. The employer that was ringing me up said that I change the price on the bottom of the boots and then she had to get her manager up there. Manager comes up there, grab something then after she told him what happened he takes the boots to the back up the store and changes the price of them - double the amount it was alright was already on the bottom. Basically called me a liar and a thief. I did not change the price on the boots. These two should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, everything that can go wrong with online purchase I have experienced it with Goodwill online. From items that were in much worse conditions than noted in the item description (nor depicted on pictures), lost items to the most recent one - overcharging. Last week I authorized $23.25 payment for the latest online purchase, only to realize that I was charged $120 instead of $23.25. Of course, I immediately called CC and disputed the charge. Like many other buyers, there is so many things that I do not like with Goodwill online - from bad quality pictures (no chance to zoom in and see item details) to overcharging the shipping. I have decided not to bid on numerous items because the shipping charge alone was bigger than what I wanted to pay for the item & shipping combined. Also, do not trust listing descriptions. People who describe items have no idea about difference between vintage/antique and reproduction, or are familiar with period styles.

Horrible experiences. Every time I go into this store in Hollywood Blvd 4575 Hollywood Ave this old lady her name is ** always grumpy mood. She say to me the prices it's not right and always want to pay more higher prices for items because they say it's not the right prices. I talk with somebody but they say to me people changes the price. The question is how I know when the prices is right??? It's make feel horrible. I really thinks this is not right. I really think and feel she is indiscriminate me because I a transgender woman. I think this the reality about why she do this to me every time. I tired.

So I find myself without a car at the moment. Walking, I find myself next to Goodwill, and I felt myself start to feel sick. I've got my backpack (because I'm walking) and a bag from the grocery store with Snapple and treats for my dog. I'm pouring sweat, feeling like I'm really in need of the bathroom, so I walked in and went directly to the bathroom. Did I do right? No, I would say not. The plan was to take care of the immediate problem and then take care of everything else.
Then this employee with a horrible attitude and too much makeup sees me walking out, and she calls me out in front of everyone, with no finesse or even niceness. "Are you aware that Goodwill has a policy of leaving bags up front?" No, because I never had a bag before. It made sense and I was okay with it, and then this little mouse next to us goes "I tried to tell him but he just ran into the bathroom." ("I told him he shouldn't be doing wrong, teacher. Here's a big shiny apple." You know the kind).
So I leave my things in the locker, and I start to look around. I'm keyed up, I'm a little put off by the way the message was conveyed, but if I had known I would have put my stuff in a locker, and risked peeing myself or throwing up. Bear in mind that everything I was wearing came from Goodwill. Half my apartment is Goodwill. I believe in the mission and the values, and I'll definitely go to other stores. I see her watching me, and I'm trying to calm down and see if they have what I need, but then she's still watching me, and all the sudden I didn't want to be there anymore. I decide that I don't have a lot of time, and I don't see anything I want.
So I get my things and I go, and I think she was calling to me from across the store, but I wasn't listening anymore. I've been in retail since 1994 and I know that there's better ways of handling situations like that. You don't make people feel like a criminal first thing, you don't do it so others can hear, and you don't treat someone like they're doing something wrong automatically. I don't think I needed to explain myself either. So what we have here is a bad situation made worse by a young lady's obvious inability to deal with people like a professional. Will I go back to that store? No.

They're at it again. Listing things they don't have and making you fight for a refund. Also selling broken items and shipping them, then telling you there is nothing they can do about it. You're out of luck and you're out of your money. These people should be shut down. Or maybe a class action suit would make them do things the way other businesses do. They think they are above the law, kind of like Hillary. We take your money and too bad for you. NO recourse.

Hello. I recently started buying items from the goodwill.com auctions and a lot of the items I bought were very nice and great deals. But when I received them in the mail, whoever packaged the items at the different goodwill stores around the us, there was no concern to how they packaged anything. An antique Lionel train set I bought was just pretty much thrown in a box and got scratched and broke during shipping. An antique clock I bought that was supposed to be undamaged shipped without the glass to it and was packaged so poorly 2 of the sides split all the way down the wood long ways lol. I contacted the Goodwill Store I purchased item from and they said they would send a return label. Well it's been over a week and still no return label and no reply to my emails asking when they would send it. The train items were bought from MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries and the clock was purchased from Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana.

I used to love to donate to Goodwill, and see my donated items later being sold at low prices for those who are less fortunate, or for bargain hunters. I have been both, at different times, and in the past was very excited to find a good deal at Goodwill. When we moved from Fort Collins to Grand Junction, I was shocked by the prices at the local Goodwill Store. Every year I've seen the prices rise. Because of the high prices, I no longer donate to Goodwill. Instead I find a person who needs what I have to give, and I just give it to them. I still get tempted to shop at Goodwill, and usually leave empty handed and disgusted by the high prices. Even my teenage daughters think their prices are ridiculous, as they once saw a pair of used jeans that they had seen on sale, BRAND NEW, for the same price that Goodwill was asking. The prices are actually insulting to people's intelligence!
I've learned that I can go to the local HERBERGER'S store, on a sale day, using coupons, and buy brand new items for the same price, and sometimes less than what Goodwill is asking for used, stretched, faded, pilled, or even new items. Now Goodwill is asking if I want to "round up." NO, I don't want to round up! The profits are not paying the store employees higher wages, it is going to the executives! Get real, Goodwill. Your name has become a farce. Your store name should be changed to "ConArtists."

I WILL NO LONGER BE DONATING ANYTHING TO GOODWILL IN AUSTIN Texas. In fact, I will no longer shop at goodwill. You use to find some really good deals at Goodwill, now their prices are extremely outrageous on some of their used items. It use to be fun bidding on items until their starting bids at $25 on every item is too high that it leaves no room to bid or it's not even worth the starting bid, especially on their fake designer handbags.
I participated in the live bidding at all the goodwill locations to collect and resale vintage items. I won a couple of bids at the North Lamar & Koenig location. The first was an authentic vintage Coach handbag. When I went into the store to pick it up, it was missing, so was the bid sheet. The manager of the store did accommodate me by giving me a $20 gift card.
The second time I placed a bid and won was for several vintage dolls. When I went to pick the items up, I noticed one of the dolls were missing. I knew this because when I viewed the items I had taken a picture of them and that particular doll was not there and couldn't be found. That was the LAST time I participated in bidding at that locations, because apparently the person in charge is unorganized or the employees steals the items.
This past weekend, a friend of mine went into the same location and placed a bid on 2 antique wooden chest sets. She received a call that she had won the bid, but when she called the next day to inquire about it to pick up, they couldn't find the sheet. On Monday she called again, they still couldn't locate the sheet nor the items. Then finally she ask for the manager and she said that it was sold at the live auction, but get this when ask for the sheet for verification, she couldn't find it. If you're not there during the live auction you'll NEVER know if you actually won an item. TIP: When you place a bid that has multiple items included, take a snapshot of the items. Goodwill will no longer receive donations from me or my business. All future donations will continue to go to the Salvation Army, Habitat and community Church's.
