    I have been using Petco's grooming service for 6+ years for my service dog. Scheduled appointments, kept appointments, paid their charge for appointments plus tips. He is a small breed dog and they have always performed standard grooming services on him in 30 minutes or less while I wait for him. I have always informed them that I will be waiting for him! On my last trip to Petco I had a 10:30 appointment and arrived at approx. 10:15. They immediately took him in, made no mention that they were severely understaffed. or given any other reason that I would have immediately rescheduled the visit and proceeded immediately grooming service on him, ie: trimming his toenails, I stepped outside for brief minute because all they had left was bath and towel dry him as they have always done. When I came back in expecting him to be just about finished.

    They had put my service dog in a cage in the back, for the very first in 6+ years. When I heard him howling I immediately question why they put him in a cage as they had never ever done him that way in the past. At that point they informed me that they were understaffed. I told them to get my dog out of the cage and give him to me now, they stated he was wet. My response was, "Lend me towel and I will towel dry him myself." They did not provide a towel so I used my shirt to dry him off, paid the bill and took my service dog out of that store to never return.

    I called the store and talked to one of the assistant managers. Reply, "Under staff." My response, "If understaffed then close up shop but or at least allow the customer to decide if that's the type of service they want." I then called corporate and it took 1 month and a day after my initial call to corporate to contact me back. Heard the same sob story from corporate. So if you're looking for an all day jail for your service dog or pet give Petco a call! I don't think they care about your pet or you!

    I bought two hamsters last last Thursday. I have never bought hamsters before so I did not realize that Petco had sold me two sick hamsters. On Tuesday, they began to get sick, so I took them back to Petco on Wednesday. The doctor did not see them until Saturday, three days later. What kind of service is that? One died on Sunday morning and one is very sick. What kind of sick treatment is that? To just let a hamster die because you did not want to see it. I recommend to never ever buy anything, especially pets, from Petco.

    Purchased some marine life from them. They bag it take it to the register and ring it up. Drove home 45 minutes, looked in bag and 15 dollars worth of merchandise missing. Called the Store and guess what? Their manager ** says it’s sitting there. So I tell her I want a refund by means of a gift card so I can use it at my local Petco. Can’t do it. Tells me to call corporate office. Called them. They called ** and say that they stand by what she says. So they ripped me off 15 dollars. Just plain out crooks. How hard is it to send a gift card to me to cover their damn mistakes? Almost tempted to file a police report for theft. A little overkill. Spend 300-500 a year in marine life and supplies.     I bought 2 Angelfish last week. The guy said, "Well the black one isn't looking too good, but we have a 30 day return policy." Well I returned (less than a week later) because both fish had died. I had my receipt, but they wouldn't let me get 2 more fish without bringing in the 2 dead fish, as well as a water sample from my tank. Really PETCO? We flushed the first dead one, as it was several days ago. I don't understand why they have this policy - do people really try to scam Petco over a few dollars in fish? I won't ever be going back there!

    Went to change order on a repeat delivery and add two other items only to find out there is a surcharge that costs more than one of the items in the order. I get we are in AK but the items are already *here* and ship from a local store. Just lost a customer.

    $45 surcharge for a $50 order. Completely ridiculous. I already have to pay for shipping, so what is the surcharge for? It's only going to be shipped from a local store. Mainland stores probably don't have to suffer with this surcharge nonsense. I've shopped here for years, but no more. Being greedy is only going to make them lose business. Amazon here I go.

    I have repeatedly tried to give this store (Parkside) a chance, but time and time again they disappoint me. The disturbing lack of knowledge of most of the employees who take care of them at Petco is ludicrous. Every other time I visit there is a very long line, with only one employee on the register and helping in the aquatic area of the store - not to mention I have seen many dead or sick fish in tanks, fish in the wrong environment, and cats sleeping in their own dirt... What are the employees doing??? What is the management doing??? I can answer. On their cell phones or hanging out in the back room - blocking the way to the public restrooms and gossiping about employees LOUDLY.

    The last time, I saw possibly five people all crowded into that tiny room and outside. I am 100% sure there are person(s) who like animals or is an animal lover but when I inquire on my long wait I get replies like, "Not my problem. I'm ship from store". I have seen the employee calling on their phone for assistance over five times to help with the long line but they might as well not bother. Getting a truthful apology is like pulling teeth and I have no idea why this Petco store is still in business at all. I am tired of seeing tired, under-trained employees, the lack of accountability and the horrible customer service. I am very disappointed by the actions of Petco. I have seen numerous employees come and go from that store in an incredibly short time period. I notice my favorite employees that used to be there are gone.

    I remember Jennifer being there for about one year, Ashley for a time, and Jools being there for a shorter amount of time. I always thought Jennifer would be promoted. When I asked why, she would make a joke and change the subject. Now she is gone. Ashley the groomer was fired I heard because she is unwell, and I was also surprised as Jools was the dog trainer and helped me so much with queries and the first time we met as an example, was after my puppy's accident and he stayed long after his shift had ended to help see my dog was taken care of. Very friendly and knew so much about dogs that I am sorry to see him go. He clearly loved the animals, but I hear Petco does not pay very well. I think this is horrible, and horrible Petco is allowing customers to leave the store dissatisfied, and good employees to seek a better employer.

    I'm so sick in tired of everytime I want to do a price per PETCO, when I give the information and THEY verify it, they see there's a difference in price. I want to go into a store a pick up 8 packs of 100 count paper pads which there is a $35 difference in price. In the past I have ALWAYS gotten the difference in REWARDS DOLLARS so once I get to the store I have to go back and forth with them to correct the difference in price, because of course the price is way higher than what's online. Now that I want to repeat the process now they are telling me that they can't give me the difference in rewards dollars, when this has been happening every since PETCO came up with this price match. I will no longer shop at PETCO and shop online or PETSMART! The customer service barely understands what the customer is saying, so do you suppose to get anything done.

    I bought my kitten about five weeks ago. They said he had his shots, he was neutered and he was dewormed. The only problem I have is a few days after he came home I noticed he had blood in his stool. I have another cat and a dog as well. I ended up taking his Jordan and found out he had a parasite. I ended up not only paying for a stool test but also for medication for him and my other cat that I had to give twice a day to both. Luckily my dog was fine. About two weeks later the diarrhea continued and I found more blood. Took another sample to the vet, paid another bill and found out he had Giardia which they didn’t pick up with the first test possibly because he was so overloaded with the previous coccidia.

    More laundry to do again. Had to go back to the vet and get more medicine to give twice a day to him. Have to change the complete litter box after every stool and bleach it. He has been going three times a day. I am upset that NAWS either didn’t evaluate him well or that Petco did not keep the cages clean from other pets. I love him dearly but he has cost me several hundred dollars in vet bills, medication and litter not to mention the amount of time put into laundry, medicating, and cleaning the litter box. Plus I had to worry about my other pets and family as Giardia can be transmitted to humans. I would have been better off going to the animal welfare and spending $25 on a cab rather than $125.00 and having all this extra cost.

    I placed an order for prescription food for my pet - only to find out that after day 3 they still didn't get in touch with my vet for approval - they are very unprofessional on the phone you will hear different explanations, everyone said something different to me and meanwhile I needed the food - I just will drive to Petsmart and get it myself.

    Just recently Petco now tacks on a surcharge to shipments to HI. I had my pet's food on repeat delivery and made things so convenient. They still have free shipping over a certain amount but that doesn't exclude the crazy surcharge. For 2 bags of treats the surcharge is at least a 3rd of the subtotal.

    I have never been around such incompetence levels as of my local Petco. It's a long story but the bottom line is Petco is very poorly run. Don't do business with them, you will be sorry. And don't try to call for customer service unless you want to talk to the Philippines. And I don't know about you but I don't give my personal information to a third world country that I don't do business. Petco are you not aware of the identity theft nowadays? Is the few dollars you save on exploiting cheap labor worth losing customers?? I guess so.

    Just got off the phone with another moron from Petco. She claimed that they just can't credit back to a credit card unless I drive all the way to their store for the 3rd time to actually give them my card. Can't give them the numbers off the card that they already have. They make me drive all the way down there to get credit. They tell me they just aren't capable of processing a credit without the actual card. BS, anyone can do that. And if you can't why are you in business? How ridiculous is that? Bottom line is SCREW YOU PETCO, COULDN'T USE THE LANGUAGE THAT THESE CLOWNS DESERVE OR IT WOULDN'T POST.

    Visited their online website to get specific cat treats, logged in as guest, choose the PayPal option for payment, reconfirm address, log into my PayPal address, hit pay button, Then you are redirected to log into your Petco account, which hints at auto re-order, First they say to pay, then won't allow me to pay until I sign up, which will likely lead to an auto re-order situation, NO THANKS, FIX THIS, ANNOYANCE. ABORTED THE ORDER, WILL NOT ATTEMPT ANOTHER ONLINE ORDER FROM PETCO.

    I hate writing a negative online review but I feel like others need to know this. In late September, I place an order for ONE item. Although it was much later arriving than advertised I did receive it. In mid October my bank account was debited FOUR times for this item. After spending literally three hours back and forth on the phone between "customer service" and an "escalation manager", who by the way "does not have an outgoing line" and cannot give you a number to call back on my issue was unresolved. No, I did not click the order button three more times... They only found ONE order for me.

    Their solution was to call my bank and dispute the charges because they could not even see it had been charged 4 times! How frustrating that I now have to wait for 7-10 days to get over $300.00 back in my account for their mistake. This was the most frustrating "customer service" experience of my life. That will be my first and last online order with PETCO. If you order, make sure and check your bank accounts for accuracy.

    They do not follow your instructions regarding grooming your dog, add on lots of charges as they see fit, and quite honestly, are rude. Not to mention that their computer system is often down, and often there isn't anyone at the register to even ring you out.

    My dog was afraid of grooming. After picking her up I realized she has some nails not clipped and her hair is choppy. I was told they had a refund policy if unhappy with service however I have contacted PETCO multiple times and was told someone would contact me. I still haven't received a call and it's been over a month.

    First time ordering anything from Petco online... Ordered prescription food for my dog on a Sunday night, they faxed my vet for authorization on Tuesday, my vet responded with authorization same day... it is now Thursday and they still have not processed my order for shipment, although they were super quick to take my money when I put the order in. They don't anticipate my order to arrive for another 8 days. Customer service is poor, pretty much a "well, that's all we can do" kind of attitude. No compensation for excessive timeline for delivery. While I was on the phone with Petco's customer service on Wednesday, I ordered the same order from Chewy.com and will be receiving that order tomorrow (Friday). Two days for Chewy to accept order online, process, and deliver to my doorstep. Why would anyone go with Petco?

    I recently purchased a bag of puppy food from PETCO. My 5 month old puppy has been on this food since she was 8 weeks old. I have never had an issue. When we opened the new bag of food the puppy did not seem to want to eat it. Thinking that she was just being a puppy I picked it up and tried a little later. She did eat it that evening. The next morning she had a rumbly stomach and vomited. She did not want to eat. Called my vet. Treated for gastrointestinal problems. Medication seemed to help. She ate puppy food later that day. Following day vomited and lethargic. Took her in vet did an x ray and gave an anti vomiting injection. Did not feed the puppy food but fed her my adult dog's food. Puppy got better.

    Tried to return said bag of puppy food to store. Purchase was made using my Pal's card. Manager looked up my purchase via electronic journal. Found my purchase but told me she could only give me an in store credit. Explained that I did not keep the receipt because puppy had been on the same food without any issues. Further explained that I did not want an in store credit as I did not want to purchase another bag of puppy food as I was worried that it would make my puppy sick again. She was very smug in her reply implicating that the food could have been purchased at another retailer. I spoke to Petco's Corporate office and got the same answer.

    I asked the customer service rep what she would do if her puppy had been sick 4 days. She told me that she understood but could not help me. It is apparent that profit is more important than pets. All I wanted was my money back so that I could buy another bag from a different source so that I would not have to worry that my puppy would get sick again. Shame on you Petco for making people think you care about their pets. Bottom line is you are more concerned about losing a $50 sale than the health of a 5 month old puppy. I will never set foot in a Petco store again. Maybe their CEO Ron Coughlin needs to rethink his priorities. What has happen to good old customer serve. After all it the customer who pays ALL of their salaries. Without us there is no business.

    Las Vegas - W Charleston. Adoption events on Sat and Sun, went on Sunday and as we walked up, they were quiet and unfriendly. At first I didn't think anything of it. We stood there, in front of one fence that had 3 volunteers in there and they were cuddling puppies. I started asking questions about one dog. The response was short. My husband finally asked if we could see the dog. We washed our hands in Lysol but the girl just cuddled the dog and wouldn't put him down for us to even see his personality. She actually was basically refusing to let us see the dog. I finally asked, 'Are you adopting this dog?' Some older woman came over and she was unfriendly and about as useful as a stick.

    The bottom line is that they had zero interest in adopting out any of those dogs. I believe it's a racket and they are supposed to be a charity and that helps reestablish dogs as service dogs or adopting them to good homes. I 100% believe that they were judging us either by race issues or because my husband has tattoos. I have never felt so unwelcome in my life. Side note that I went to another adoption event for them at different location and the people there were so much nicer and truly cared about the dogs. I called the store Manager but I do not believe that is enough.

    This is how a Petco store manager and dog trainer could have ruined a young dog’s socialization and possibly his life. We have a 16-week-old puppy. We had been taking to the Bremerton, Washington Petco for about four weeks for their free puppy play sessions on the weekends. The first few weeks it was fine, but in the last two weeks it unfortunately became clear that the trainer doesn’t seem to understand the purpose of these sessions. Our puppy has progressively been getting better about being calmer during play because we have specifically asked the trainer to interrupt his play more often, to have him sit and get a treat before continuing play. This is a proven and standard method used by world-class trainers such as Dr. Ian Dunbar, used to teach a puppy that the owner stopping play or asking for a recall or sit is not the end of the play session--rather, the puppy gets rewarded with play for a good sit and a calm moment.

    The Petco trainer began punishing our puppy for typical excited puppy play (simple/common things like pawing or jumping--no inappropriate biting or anything else concerning) by asking us to sit outside the pen for 15-20 minutes and watch the other puppies play. She said he needed to “be calmer,” but how are you supposed to teach a 16-week-old puppy to be calmer by forcing him out of play sessions for a long period of time so he can become frustrated? This isn’t a class where puppies are learning obedience or how to walk on leash. This is a play session, supposedly intended to teach young puppies good bite inhibition and appropriate play with other dogs. But that’s not how Petco is using it, and it would easily have led to our puppy developing frustration and reactivity toward other dogs because of her negative methods.

    The training method she used on our puppy is called negative punishment, as defined by professional dog trainers. Not a method any reasonable person should be using on a 16-week-old puppy. You have to teach puppies impulse control in stages, progressively making the little breaks longer over time. You can’t suddenly ask for a 10 minute-plus break and expect the puppy to learn anything (except frustration). It’s ridiculous that Petco's trainers don't know this, and are punishing a puppy for normal puppy behavior--excitement--with frustration. This trainer doesn’t seem to understand the basic tenet of animal training: reward for good behavior.

    We tried talking to the store manager, whose response was completely unhelpful and inappropriate. He didn’t attempt to understand what we were saying or where we were coming from. Instead, all he did was defend the trainer without even trying to understand the circumstances. He suggested that “maybe she did this because of a safety issue.” How could there be a safety issue with a 16-year-old puppy? (Besides, she specifically said there was no safety issue, that it was purely about "excitement.") Even if there was a safety concern, negatively punishing a puppy will hardly rectify any problem. It will cause one. The manager also said outright that he would not be speaking with the trainer about our complaint, so offered absolutely no help to us and no attempt to understand or figure out a solution.

    On top of all that, he argued that Betsy hadn’t had any prior complaints, yet in the short time we’ve been going here we’ve seen multiple people leave seemingly confused or disgruntled and haven’t returned. Regardless, it was clear from his behavior that he couldn’t care less about customer satisfaction. I also spoke with the regional manager by phone, and he said that the trainer at this location was following Petco's policies. I clarified that their policies could be causing long-term behavioral damage to puppies being brought here, and he didn't seem concerned. He said he'd spoken with the trainer in question and she didn't dispute anything I'd said in my complaint. So the real issue here is that Petco is okay with their trainers utilizing negative and potentially highly damaging methods with the dogs being brought there.

    The regional manager said he would take my issue to the trainer policy-makers at Petco, but specifically said he doubted they would change anything. I also had to ask again about the store manager and his lack of customer service or concern, and the regional manager said he would look into it. Whatever that means. I'm hoping that by sharing our experience, we can try to protect other peoples’ puppies who may be experiencing some of Petco's negative training methods. I highly recommend you take your puppy elsewhere for socialization and training, as Petco clearly doesn't care about your puppy so much as they care about protecting themselves.

    Absolutely horrible experience. Alright first off all the workers were just sitting around talking instead of helping. Finally one guy turned around after I stood there for seven minutes. Just to find out the guy works in the reptile department and not the fish department so he had no clue how to handle or inform me about my fish. They attempted to sell me a 40 dollar goldfish, when the sticker under its tank with a picture of the fish I wanted said 6.99$ and they refused to give the fish to me for that price saying it was 40$ when the tag said 6.99$. So I can promise you my family and I will never be shopping at any Petco ever again. WATERTOWN PET SUCKS. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

    I set up an appointment online for grooming service for my dog, a Cocker Spaniel well behaved dog, service that has been provided several times before for this same store under similar conditions, after wasting about an hour getting to the store and providing all the paperwork for rabies shot, which was up to date, they denied the grooming service. The manager of this department at the store, John **, indicated that the service is up to the groomer preferences and she did not want to do it. The groomer, a girl named Gu or something like that was negative to provide the service since we stepped into the store and was trying to find excuses for rejecting the service.

    This is unacceptable, they cannot reject the service without a reasonable explanation, and they totally wasted my time and patience. What kind of business is this? It looks like they are more concerned about how hard the work might be, than any other issue. If they think that the job might take longer, then charge a higher price, maybe they are too lazy to take some jobs and being very selective based on their preferences. This is very disappointing and frustrating, for sure this is the last time I will visit this store for any product and I will encourage all my friends to not visit this store anymore.

    I purchased an expensive aquarium filtration system from Petco in Palmdale Ca. I brought the system back within 3 weeks as it did not work and they would not return it or provide store credit since I could not produce the "original receipt" even though the store clerk who sold me the system was there and knew I purchased it AND I used my Petco rewards account that shows when I bought it. The store still refused to return the item stating their policy requires original receipts. I asked then why do you have the rewards site that shows purchases, no one could answer my question.

    FYI, Petsmart honors their returns with rewards receipts. I will ONLY shop Petsmart from now on and I would suggest all consumers be aware of the Petco policy before shopping at any Petco store. Also, when I went to the store to inquire about the return, management wouldn't even take a minute to talk to me, they just sent out staff to relay their responses. That's their way of treating customers.

    Just to provide background: I am a regular PETCO customer. I purchased two guinea pigs from PETCO back in February and have planned to buy more. My boyfriend and I spend hundreds of dollars buying all of our pet products from PETCO. Yesterday, my boyfriend bought bedding and hay for our pigs and let me know that he saw a beautiful, fluffy brown baby pig that he thought I would love. So today, on this beautiful Saturday, I drove to PETCO to see this pig so I could decide if we would add him to the family.

    When I arrived at the tank, the guinea pig was hiding in the hideaway, so I could not see it. I looked around for someone to help us. I finally made eye contact with an employee (name tag: Rai) who asked how they could help. I asked if we could see the guinea pig. Rai responded “Well do you plan on buying it?” Confused, I asked her to repeat the question and she said again very confidently “Are you going to buy the guinea pig? I will only let you see it if you plan on purchasing it.” Completely shocked, I walked away and looked for another employee.

    Rai approached the employee I was waiting to speak to, so I asked her if there was a manager available. Confidently, she told me she was the manager. I asked her why I would need to promise to buy a guinea pig before seeing it. She stated that groups of kids come into the store asking to see pets, so she had to be certain. I asked if I looked like a child? She said “No ma’am...” then said “Well, I can get someone to show you the guinea pig...”

    At this point, I was too hurt and offended to even stay in the store. My boyfriend and I left. I am deeply hurt at how I was treated not only as a loyal PETCO customer, but as a person. I am also disappointed that I did not see the guinea pig I was interested in. If this is how PETCO treats their customers, they don’t deserve them. A few times I’ve noticed some employees aren’t as helpful as others, but this is by far the worst experience I’ve had.

    Been looking for a grain free dog food for our dogs since both have a sensitive stomach. Found Taste of the Wild brand (recommended by our vet) at Petco store in Valencia, CA and bought a 12-can case there & learned that they offered home delivery if we subscribe. Well, went online today to make our 1st online purchase with Petco (have never purchased from Petco online before, we use Amazon, Walmart & Costco online all of the time, but none carry this brand: Taste of the Wild) everything was fine until we were ready to check out & found a $ 60.00 surcharge (that's right, a $ 60.00 SURCHARGE) added to our total because our PO Box # was part of our address.

    Now, mind you we live in a rural area where we do not get mail delivery & we always have our PO Box # added to our address in case items ship via USPS, because you never know how a retailer would ship. When we called to complain about this surcharge, we were told that it was because our PO Box # was listed but didn't even bother to help us out & say, let's remove that & proceed with your purchase... Well, no, their customer service person was NOT helpful one bit, we canceled our order, but we're told that our refund (because they had already charged us the total price of the food + the surcharge of $ 60.00) would take between 5 - 7 days!!! Never again would we buy from Petco online!! NEVER!

    I am very disappointed with Petco customer service. I signed up for the repeat delivery back in May. The cat food was suppose to get to me every 2 months. I've got my first one on time. The next one didn't come to me. I just received from the Post Office a note, that I need to come to their coalition and pick it up. I called Petco customer service right away and explained the situation. The response I've got: It will be delivered to my door soon. It's been over 2 weeks since. Now I called Petco and spoke to a supervisor. She said something like: "Depending on the package size it sometimes gets delivered to the post office for you to pick up". She didn't say she is sorry, only said if I want I can stop repeat deliveries. Right, after they charged my card on July 27th, and now it's August 13th. Horrible customer service! They lost one more customer.

    I bought two, Litter Maid Classic Series Automatic Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box from Petco, two years in a row for 179.00. This product only lasted one year, because of the poor quality, and Petco only offers a 60-day return for the merchandise. Electronics should last longer than 60-days especially when it cost 179.00. When a company sells poor quality merchandise, it is the consumer’s responsibility to reject their products and services. Therefore, I will no longer shop at Petco, because of their return policy and their poor quality merchandise.

    On October 13th, 2017 at 11:15 or 11:20 AM I went to Petco 160 E El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. As I enter inside of the store there was this ** woman who was a Petco employee who looks at me as I entered the store. When she looked at me I felt very uncomfortable. I walked over to the aisle where they sold dog collars and leashes. I recently adopted a puppy from this same store August 5th, 2017 and I purchased a Bond & Co Blue Bling Collar item number (2484619) but it was too big for my puppy and it came apart so I needed to get him another one. As I'm in the collar aisle I grabbed a collar and try to put it on my puppy. I ripped the cardboard that was attached to the collar because it was in the way. I ripped the cardboard tag in half and placed the cardboard with the bar code in the small shopping cart.

    I noticed that the collar was too big. It was a small and I needed a smaller one. So I placed the item in my shopping cart and found the one I was looking for. The same ** woman who looked at me very strangely as I entered the store walked over to me. She says to me "Can I help you with anything?" I told her "Yes! I'm looking for a extra small collar because I purchased the same collar for my puppy a couple of months ago and it came apart." I told her that I needed a extra, extra small collar and I wish the collars had more holes in it to adjust the neck area. I also showed her the collar that I tried on my puppy but it was too big. I said to her “I tried this collar on my puppy and I accidentally ripped off the cardboard because I needed to try it on my puppy. I’m so sorry about that.” She says "Oh let me take that to the front and they can take care of it."

    I picked up another collar that was Bond & Co Black Bling Collar (item number 2484791) I asked the female employee that was talking to me “Do you guys carry this kind in a smaller size?” She replies "No, I don't think so. Whatever is out here is all that we have. But we do have these adjustable collars for smaller dogs that will fit their necks perfectly." I reply “I have one of those collars but I like the bones that are on this one because it makes him look so cute.” She laughs and says "That collar looks really nice on him. It goes well with his coat." She says "If you have any more questions please let me know." I told her "Thank You."

    As I’m shopping, my puppy is whining because he has to use the bathroom. So I walked to the front of the store and I noticed the employee ** who was the cashier. She was talking to the same woman I was talking to and they were both looking at me very strangely. It made me feel slightly uncomfortable. So ** walks towards my way looking at me very weird. I said to ** "Is it okay if I leave my cart right here because I need to take my puppy outside to pee?" She says "Sure no problem." I left my shopping cart near the register as I took my puppy outside in his Sherpa carrier bag that I purchased from the same Petco August 5, 2017 that cost $59.99. I walk outside to see if my puppy was going to pee pee but he didn't. So I come back inside of PetCo and I grab my shopping cart and ** comes up to me and my puppy and she says "Oh my goodness. He is so cute. How is he doing so far."

    Every time I go to Petco ** and I are always talking and she’s always playing with my puppy Shepherd. I said “He’s doing good and we were shopping looking for another collar because the one he had was torn all up.” She says "Oh, is it okay if I give him a treat?" I say "Sure but he's very picky." She came back with a treat which was The Boutique Duplex Creme Cookies which was the Halloween Colors. ** says "Oh my gloves are clean. I just changed them. I try to change them every hour." I say to her "Oh that's good."

    Then she breaks down the cookie and she's feeding my puppy. I said "Oh wow, I'm surprised he's eating it.” There was some pieces that fell off inside of my Shepherd’s carrier bag. I said "He has so many things buried inside of his bag, old chicken and treats so he goes digging for it." ** laughs! Then she asked me "Oh are you coming to our Doggy Contest tomorrow." I said "What time does it start?" She says "It starts at 1 tomorrow. You should come." She walks back over to the register because there were customers in line.

    ** says to me "Oh have you checked out the costumes? They’re 30% off and check out our clearance stuff because they have collars and clothes, they have a lot of good stuff over there. Check it out. I'll show you some stuff." So she walks me over to where the costumes were located. The first item she points out to me was Reggae Dog Halloween Wig (item number 2608013). She picks up the item and says “this is so cute. Oh my goodness. This so is cute.” She saying this is so cute while she’s laughing. Then she says to me “I don't mean anything by this hat. I really didn't." I have single braids in my hair not dreadlocks and I thought it was kind of disrespectful her to point out that item first especially when there was so many other items there. I told her I was going to go check out the clearance section which was located in the front of the store next to the bird section to see what was over there and then go I’ll go back to the costumes.

    I found a lot of good items for my puppy Shepherd. I put some of the items inside of my small black shopping pushcart. My puppy began whining again. This time it was a lot. He was acting as if he needed to use the bathroom again. ** was at the register and I told her “I’ll be right back. He has to go to the bathroom again so I’m going to take him outside again to pee." She looked at me kind of weird like “why is she going outside again is she stealing.” That was the look she gave me. So, I left my puppy carrier bag inside of the shopping cart with my cash and my credit cards, and my cell phone inside of the store near the window so I could see my cart from the outside of the store and I was able to see ** from the register. I took my puppy outside to pee and he didn't use the bathroom.

    So I go back inside of Petco. I said to ** "He is so stubborn. He didn't even use the bathroom." I grabbed my shopping cart and continued looking through the items in the clearance section. Five minutes later my puppy is acting up again. This time I am getting so frustrated with him. So I take him out of his carrying bag, I put him down on the floor so he could walk around but he kept whining. So I take him outside for the last time. I leave my basket with my puppy carrier bag with all the items inside of the store along with my credit cards, my cash and my cell phone near the window and I was still able to see my basket from the outside of the store and I was able to see the Hispanic male cashier from outside through the window.

    My puppy finally pees. Thank God! I walk back inside of Petco and I grabbed my shopping. So I grab my cart so I could continue shopping. ** walks over to where I was and says "Oh what did you end up finding?" So she's looking at the items in my cart. I showed her the puppy outfits I was able to find in the Clearance section and all the other items in my cart. It was a total of 15 items which was 4 xs outfits, snacks for my puppy and chew sticks and collar, leash, and some treats bags.

    There was a young girl standing next to ** with her puppy Pitbull. The young girl started asking ** questions so I continued looking through the clearance items. There was a carrying bag which I thought was super cute. So I got in line because I wanted ** to check the price of it. I put my puppy inside of the bag and I was like “** he’s too big for this bag. He looks uncomfortable.” ** says “Oh yeah it is too small. He doesn’t have enough space to turn around and plus I think that bag is not on clearance. I believe it’s regular price.” So I left the item at the register with **. I told ** I was going to go check out some costumes.

    I walked over to where the costumes were and I was looking for a costume for my puppy. I found a Bumblebee Hoodie Dog Costume that was a xs which was perfect for my Shepherd. As I was trying on the Bumblebee Costume there was older Gentlemen came up to me and said "Oh my goodness. That is the cutest dog ever.” He pets my puppy and I started walking towards the front because I wanted to show ** the costume. She was talking to the young girl with the Pitbull and the young girl’s mother. I said to ** "Look at this costume. It fits him. It's a extra small." She looks at me and says "Oh you have a lot of items in your cart. You're going to need to bring all of your items to the register and leave them there."

    I said to her because I was shocked "Why do I have to do that? I never had to do that before ever. I don't even have to do that at PetSmart. This is the first time anyone has ever told me to bring my items to the front of the store because I have a lot of items in my cart." Mind you, I only had a total of 15 small items in my black small shopping cart with my puppy’s carrying bag. She looks at my dog and says "I can ring the costume up. Are you done shopping?” I say to her "No, I am not done shopping but I am now. I am very pissed off that I have to leave all of my items at the register because you think I have a lot of items in my cart. I am never coming to this store ever again. This is ridiculous. I don’t even want this costume and I don’t even want the stuff. This is ridiculous."

    ** goes inside of my basket and began taking all of my items out of my shopping cart. She starts looking through my personal items that were in my puppy carrier bag. I guess she thought I was stealing things because I always keep chewtoys and toys inside of my puppy carrier bag because he needs things to play with and chew on while I’m shopping. I said to her “why are you doing this?" ** says "It's store policy. I really don't want to do this but I have to. It’s our store policy." The lady that was there with her daughter and her Pitbull had a lot of stuff in their basket. I said to ** "Are you going to take their stuff out of their basket too because they have a lot of stuff in their basket as well." She says to me "Yes I am." She didn't do anything. She didn't take anything out of the other customer basket.

    At this point I'm was livid. I didn't even want any of the items she removed from my shopping basket. I was so upset I felt so discriminated against, I felt violated. I felt like she was being racist against me. I was so upset. I walked to the back of the store to look for another employee and ask them about their policy. I saw this young lady who was stocking items on the shelf. She was really pretty, tall, thin, and she wore glasses. I don’t know her name. I see this young lady every time I go to Petco because I’m always buying stuff for my puppy and sometimes for my elderly neighbor's dog. I asked her "What is your store policy about having too many items in the cart? Do you guys tell the customers to leave all the items at the register?" She said "No, I have never heard of this or any customers having to do this. Let me get my manager. Would you like to talk to her?”

    I told her what ** did to me and I felt so disrespected all because I was the only ** woman in the store and the only person she told me to remove all the items out of my cart and leave them at the register. The young girl says "I am so sorry that you are going through this. That is not right. I would be pissed off. That’s ** up as well. Let me get my manager." The young lady went to the back to get the store manager. I waited a minute for the store manager to come out.

    When the manager walked out I was shocked because it was the same woman that was helping me when I was looking for a collar and the same woman whom I didn’t feel comfortable being in my presence, the same woman that was talking to ** while I was shopping. When she walked towards me I felt so uncomfortable and annoyed because I knew she had something to do with what was going on. She had this look on her face as if she really didn't care about what I had to say. She walks over to me and she says "Can I help you?" I said to her "What is the policy with having too many items in your shopping cart? If there's too many items do an employee come over and physically remove all the items from your cart and leave them at the front of the store.”

    The manager says "No! We don’t have a policy of any sort." I said "An employee here removed all the items from my shopping cart and takes them to the register. I feel discriminated against all because I’m ** and I am shopping here. What? I’m not supposed to be here?" The “manager" which was a store Lead says to me with a stank facial expression as if she did not care about anything and she wasn’t going to do anything about the situation says to me "I am sorry that you had to go through this. I will speak with the employee." I looked at her and wanted to smack her because her tone was like she didn't care.

    In a loud tone I said "I am so pissed off that this has happened to me. I am a ** woman shopping and I come here all the time and shop and I spend a lot of money here. I will never come back to this store. I don't need to steal anything out of this store. I have well more than enough money to purchase anything out of this store. What she thought I was going to steal something. I am never coming back to this store again. I feel offended and I am pissed off." The manager kept saying "I will talk to this employee." Then she says to me "I have a ** boyfriend. I understand." I looked at her like "What does that have to do with what happened to me?"

    I was about to walk away and then I asked this woman her name. I reached out and she acted as if she did not want to shake my hand. She gave me the tip of her fingers and she says "My name is **. Have a nice day and see you soon." The way she said it was as if she didn’t want me back in the store. She walks away and goes right to the office. I was so angry I grabbed bag of Bill-Jack original chicken liver for my puppy, I walked to the front of the store looking for my items. I was so hurt, frustrated, angry, irate, that I could've cried and I wanted to really go off on the ** and the manager ** because of what they did to me. I was so frustrated that I was going to leave the items at the register so I started putting things back because I was so angry.

    I gathered 9 items out of the 15 items that was at the register ** was working at. I went to another register where the Hispanic male was the cashier. The lady that was there with her daughter and her Pitbull puppy was looking at me like they wanted to talk to me because they knew I was upset and hurt. ** says to me "I can help you over here." I was not going to go over to her register because I was so angry with her that she could do something like that to me. She scanned all of my items and I didn't even look at her because I was disgusted with how she treated me. I gathered all of my items and I left the store and went home.

    I believe the leader ** told ** to watch me and remove all of my items from the store because she probably thought I was stealing. They can check all the cameras to see I was shopping like I always do and I didn’t do anything that would suggest I was stealing. When I removed the cardboard from the dog collar only because it was in the way and I wanted to try it on my puppy and I even told ** exactly what happened. I kept going outside to take my puppy to go pee but ** was able to see me from the inside of the store to the parking lot. I wasn’t anywhere near my car, I even left items in my basket with my puppy carry bag with my cash and bank cards and credit cards inside of the store. I even showed ** all the items that I found that were in the clearance section, clothes for my puppy, treats, collars, leashes, chewtoys, etc.

    Everything that I had in my cart was under $10.00. Nothing expensive. I don't need to steal anything. I don't want a criminal record. I purchased my puppy from Petco August 5th, 2017 and spent over $700 that day and that included the adoption. I had a ton of stuff in my basket and no one never once approached me to say "I'm sorry. You have too many items in your cart. I need to remove these items and bring them all to the front. It's our store policy."

    I knew for a fact that this was not true because if there was a lot of people in the store who had a ton of stuff in their cart they would have to leave everything at the register and then next thing you know the customers items are lost and there's mess at the registers, etc... I knew she was lying to me. She only did it because of the lead ** said something to her and because I was ** woman. But ** knew better because the other customers that were there she did not remove their items from their basket and told them to leave it at the front of the store while they continued shopping.

    After I left the store I went straight home and I started writing up what transpired and I called Corporate and I told them what happened and I also called Petco October 13th, 2017 at 8:12 PM and I spoke with a lead manager. I can't remember her name but she told me to call Corporate and call ** who was the manager during the day. I never felt so discriminated against. I wasn't wearing anything that would cause them to think I would steal anything, I was wearing a black shirt that had a tiger with blue eyes which were bedazzled. I had a blue jean pants, and I had my Google badge on with my puppy in his small carry bag.

    I have been ordering cat food from Petco for over a year, but never again. This last order was late, short, and damaged. It took 10 days to receive my order which was for one carton (24 cans) of cat food. I received 20 loose cans that were just thrown in the box with no packing material, so they were all damaged from shipping. The person I communicated with on their Chat line was very nice, provided a refund, but was not fluent in English. It took some further explanation before he understood what I had written. Petco seems to have instituted cost cutting measures the results of which are fewer customers.

    ON June 6 2018 my wife had a appointment for CODIE (our Dog) to be groomed. When she arrived there was a new employee who ask if my dog had any medical problems which she replied yes and was asked what was the problems. Employee was told he have seizures and my wife was told, "We do not accept dog who have heart problems or seizures." My dog had been groomed at this PETCO groomer for over 3 to 4 years. We have never been asked this question nor is it posted and should be asked each time your pet arrive because thing change.

    At Petco 44th Street in Phoenix 85008 last week, I went to store to get treats out of the treat bar and #flieseat** came out of the bins, told the employee, and she said she thought she had gotten them all out, and **stuck her hands/arms in bin and tossed the treats around to scare out any remaining bugs out.** I asked if she knew #flieseat**, she said she knew that. I told her sticking her hands and arms in the bins was unsanitary. I guess since they are just animals, sanitation is not a priority. DISGUSTING. Talked to supervisor in corporate who backed up employees handling of situation who told me to just buy the pre-bagged treats, they had same assortment. Except when I went to the store to buy them, the employee said they didn't.

    Yep buy one treat get one free “in store coupon only” didn’t work. I went to 3 different stores drove 32 miles, round trip between them. The stores was not stocked with the same ONLINE products. Talked to managers and they were willing to do “workarounds”. You want me to come back again, I don’t think so. Hey KNOCK KNOCK corporate, called left a message with operator 2 days ago for an executive complaint, I’ve been ignored. Horrible advertising “gimmick “ to get customers into the store.

    PETSMART, TARGET, WALMART all have better product selections. Guess what they're closer and even if I have to pay more I would rather do business with them. I’ll "guarantee" I’ll be posting on social media every chance I get about this experience. Pet industry is over a 70 billion dollar annual business, you have lost my dollars and I’ll will share my "experience" with other consumers to make better choices and not get sucked into your "games". Meow & Woof.

    Having been a customer of repeat delivery for over a DECADE, the last year or 2 has been a nightmare of damaged items, open cans w/ food and bugs loose in the box, wrong items... have ONLY/EVER ordered cat food, and most recently, I ordered 1 case of wet cat food, received 2 cases of 12 oz. canned prescription diet DOG FOOD. (I guess the picture of the DOG on the can didn't clue them in that maybe this was not the right food?) So not only did I not have anything to feed my cat, but I had to haul this load into a store. Their usual resolution is to send a free case of the correct item, which shows up approx. 2 weeks after placing the original order. After a while that doesn't even matter... doesn't cover the inconvenience all the way around. They clearly don't read the orders that come in, judging by all the complaints in reviews. Save yourself a hassle, go w/ another company.

    I rarely write reviews but wanted to say how pleasantly surprised I was to attend the dog Training classes at the Del Mar Petco on Via De La Valle. My dog and I have been working with Luis and he really has been a fabulous coach. I have had many dogs and have always done training classes and really like Luis' manner and positive approach. He made a real effort to work with me and find a time that worked for me, but most of all he's just really good at training you in a positive way to train your dog. I would definitely recommend his classes to anyone who is thinking about training. The price is also a win-win. Many other places I have gone for training have been far more expensive.

    They left my dog in a tiny cage in a hot backroom for 2 hours and claimed his panting meant he was too stressed and wouldn't from him. He's a Pekingese with long hair; of course he was panting. Never do business with the Harrisville, UT Petco again.

    Not good with fish. Went in Saturday to buy a betta fish and several of them were sick. Two had fish rot so bad that they had no tails, and one was missing its upper fin as well. One of the Dalmatian Mollies had velvet and was dying. The same water is used for all fish - the betta fish also come from the same place and same water supply, even though they are kept in separate containers - it is the same water. They either need to get a new supplier or stop selling fish. How can you not notice a betta without tail or fins? Their beautiful tails and fins are what they are known for. I saw a beautiful betta that looked OK, but did not buy it, as if it came from the same supplier, it probably has the same diseases.

    I have a gorgeous one year and a half old Maltipoo with long gray hair that drags the ground. I take her to be groomed every 30 days. I took her to Petco for a feet, face and fanny trim. That's where they trim those three areas. I picked her up six and a half hours later with no phone call telling me she's ready and the girl was shaving off all of her hair. She was completely bald. I am sick to my stomach. She is doing nothing but itching, licking her bottom area. She has never ever had her haircut. She looks horrible and I am disgusted. I can't figure out anyone who could look at how beautiful she was when she walked in and take a shaver to her. I will never ever walk back in that store. Everyone beware. These groomers are not experienced. Half of them are cashiers they get put in there to fill in when they are short of help.

    After years of loyal service, they refused to care for my dog. She had no change in her medical history yet, they didn’t want to groom her due to on and off tremors which have been stable and have not changed in the last year! And even though she was groomed by them just 8 weeks prior. The groomer was disrespectful and used poor language. I was embarrassed to even be associated with them and a company that would stand for that kind of behavior from their employees. Petco will no longer receive my business nor my friends or families. I know I’m a small fish in a big pond but I hope others are not treated this way.

    Pocatello, Idaho - The girl that gave my dog a haircut was inexperienced and didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. She gave my dog back because apparently he was fighting with her when I know for a fact he never does that to any other groomer. He was even in there for 50 min. Got a call to come and get him. She told me that he had a knot under his chin and he was biting at the clippers and trying to get away. She was afraid that she would of cut him and told me that I needed to take him to a vet to get it removed. She gave him back with everything but his head shaved. I had to take him to another groomer and he did perfectly fine over there. So I am never taking my dog to PETCO to get groomed ever again.

    Just found out a long time employee is no longer working there, where I don't know the reasons for this, I can tell you I won't be going back. His name was Zach, he was the only helpful person there for fish help, the other guy named Daniel is rude and very lazy, it's my understanding the only reason he's still employed there is he's friends with the manager, which is also lazy. I'm taking all my pet needs to one of the stores out of town, that's how bad this store's employees are.

    It happened twice! I brought my Tibetan Spaniel to Petco Van Nuys for grooming. First time was about 8 months ago. Asking for a light groom, half an inch max, my dog came home with 1/4" from his skin. Never mind on that one, I let it go, although my dog went into hiding for about a week as if he felt naked. Couple of weeks ago, I brought my dog to grooming again at the same location, thinking that if I explain very well this time, it would prevent the problem. I even stated over the phone when I made appointment and when I brought him over regarding previous experience and asking please don't let it happen again. I said, "If it happens one more time, someone will be fired. I'm gonna raise hell all the way to corporate office."

    Well, it sure it happened again and I did what I said I would do. I got verbal apology from store manager and he did not charge me for the grooming. I didn't care at all for not charging, but for my dog to wait for another 7 months or so for his hair to grow back, that's not cool! I chatted with someone at Petco online and was promised that my case it would be review and someone would contact me regarding this experience. Well, never happened! My dog is a Tibetan Spaniel, not a Chihuahua!!! His beautiful fur. Yes, it'll grow back, but to have it happened to him twice especially after I stressed the issue before leaving him with groomer for the second time is too much! I'll never bring my dog to Petco again! The best way to do for me is leaving it with social media to be aware of and think more than twice if you want to bring your dog for grooming at Petco.

    I bought a cage from Petco.com and now I realized the cage was going to be too small for my 10 month old German Shepherd. I cannot go without a cage for my dog. Left alone she will destroy my house. I called and asked for a recommendation and what options they had for a pet parent like me. They told me to return it to the nearest store. Not an option because xxl was not at the store. Then I asked what I should do. They told me to put the dog on a leash. I asked them where should I put the leash. Like are we serious!! A leash? Common. And that’s coming from “upper management” and then so I asked, "So what are my other options" and they told me to order a new cage and wait for that to arrive then return the old one.

    So all human beings have the options to spend another 50-60 dollars on a cage and then wait for the cage before going to the store to return the smaller cage to get a refund. I’m sorry to inform Petco. But not all pet parents are made of money. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! My advice to Petco is maybe have a return or exchange policy that targets towards people with big dogs. Like pay for the difference of the cages and send a return label that can be scanned by the store to make sure the alternate cage was returned. Just a little suggestion.

    It is very pricey but has a big selection. I love all the pets they have on hand for you to buy today. They have all the toys for that pet plus food and bedding. It's a 1 stop pet shop that you can take your pet in with you. Not make them sit in the car is a plus.

    I go into the Petco at 1931 East Main Street in Spartanburg, SC monthly to purchase Canidae Dog Food for my Poodle. This is the closest business that sells it. I have been going monthly for approximately 6 years now. The company, Canidae, emails me coupons to use in the store monthly. I show them the coupon that was emailed to me, and they scan the barcode. So, I went in on 02/17 and went to the counter to purchase a bag, with a 30% off OOPS sticker on it... I presented the coupon of $5 off any bag, and the Manager, **, replied by saying he could not accept this coupon. I told him that I had been coming in every month for 6 years and using a coupon. I can look up the dates on my bank statements if anyone would take the time to look at the video. ** continued to tell me that he had NEVER taken a coupon like this. Lie number 1.

    I then pointed to his cashier, **, who had also taken several of them from me. So SHE broke into our conversation rudely and said SHE had never taken one. Lie number 2. I'm not trying to get something for free here, but I want the public to know that this so called manager is WRONG. Once again, I can look up dates on my bank statement, if HIS DM or RM would like to view the video, where they will see, that BOTH ** AND ** TOOK MY COUPON, and now, suddenly won't take it any longer, and say that they've never taken it. This would not be a big deal if I were not disabled and not on a fixed income. Not to mention, I will NOT shop there again. EVER. And I WILL, let everyone know about this that does shop there. ** was extremely rude. He lied to my face. As did the cashier. I will make SURE that everyone knows his name. This could have been avoided.

    I went to PETCO to get a bag of dog food and when I was checking out I inquired if Petco ever put out any coupons. This weird little weeny man at Tatum & Bell store Phoenix at about 12 PM on Sunday morning came to the register because the girl did not know. The price listed on the dog food was 19.99 and the register was ringing up $25.99. The little weeny guy would not let me explain and told me to "hush". I told him, "Don't tell me to hush" and he said I should leave the store like he is doing me some kind of favor to shop at that overpriced store. I could understand if I was making a scene but I was not. I just said, "Don't tell me to hush!" Then I told him, "** you!" I was sooo shocked and left.

    This is not the first time I have discovered weird pricing and rudeness at this store. Walmart has pretty much the same required things for pets at half the price and PetSmart is even better. The little weeny man should not be working in retail as mentally he is ill-equipped. I have six animals and will never go back to that store again as there are way too many other stores that do not have the little weeny man. The little weeny man had short black hair that was a little curly. He had medium build and rather short height. No glasses. I do not think this store will be around long. Too rude and overpriced and too many other places to go. :)

    PETCO offers lower prices for automatic reorders of pet food delivered to your door and they charge your credit card each month. What they don't tell you is if there is a fluctuation in price, they will NOT let you know ahead of time. They charged me thirty dollars more for the same product and told me there was a price increase from the manufacturer. Then, the price decreased magically right after it was delivered to me. A refund of the difference was not offered.

    I believe they are price gouging the customers on repeat delivery hoping they won't monitor their credit card receipts closely. This is unacceptable and I will NEVER shop here again. The food was Natural Balance and I was charged 55 dollars for six months and then charged 81 dollars. When I called today, it was down to 68 dollars. Unacceptable for there to be a fluctuation in the price of Pet food and unacceptable that they don't call their loyal customers to make them aware of a huge fluctuation in price.

    I went to Petco for the first time in my life because we have a new dog. I have never been treated with such disrespect in any store ever. The employee there was rude and unkind. One of the items I wanted to purchase was out of stock, which is fine. The second one I had found on several sites online and it was $14.99. However, the item in the store was listed at $63.99. I wasn't too concerned because it says that they price match. NOT TRUE! The employee said they would never price match that because it was too low. I finally said we would leave and not be back and she replied that that was just fine with her. So I purchased my items on Amazon, they were delivered in two days and Petco lost $300 worth of sales on just one day... and all of the sales for the rest of my dog's life.

    I ordered a bag of prescription food online hoping to at least earn some rewards for the cost. Three days after the order it was still processing, so I called. The first person had me take a photo of the script label on the bag I had from my vet and email it to her. Then she transferred me to an "escalation specialist" who told me that wasn't good enough and that either the vet would have to respond to the fax they were sent or the vet would have to call. I called the vet and they said they received the fax AND that they had sent it back completed, they had proof that they did this.

    So I told the vet this was crazy and I would just get the food through them and cancel PETCO. When I called Petco back they transferred me to the "escalation specialist" that I spoke with earlier. I told her the vet not only got the fax, but they responded and had proof of this. I told her that I wanted the order cancelled and I would never order online from them again. She said, "Fine. Your order's cancelled" and HUNG UP!!! I wasn't able to ask about the money being refunded to my account or anything. I will never buy online from Petco again, what horrible customer service.

    I purchased two products which were chew toys from Petco. The items we’re substandard and a potential choking or death hazard even to my medium chewer. She had the plastic ball in tiny pieces in moments and had injested parts. Another chew toy which was rope covered in fabric a similar result, I contacted them, they had no interest in even what the products were and simply said, "If you still have the pieces return to the store." I had photos they did not even respond to those. All about the mighty buck. No interest in pet welfare or safety. Disappointed. Shame on them.

    We have 3 other pet stores close by, but I like Petco. I have bought 4 pets from Petco and the people are always very friendly and helpful. And they have always had a personal interest in my pets. Which were 3 hamsters (the salesperson really knew about hamsters, helped us find the right one) and a bearded dragon, who I talk about with them and bring him to visit.

    I am a newcomer to Petco. Thus far, I am pleased with the selection & variety Particularly the wet food cans. At one time Science Diet had changed the Formula (kibble shapes) & my cat would not eat it. I called the store and the Manager answered the phone. He informed me that hairball formula was now Hairball & urinary tract formula. He offered a free, no cost bag for me to try out. I was very impressed by his knowledge and offer. Since then I am a faithful customer but I sometimes find it a bit pricey for both wet & dry food.

    Petco staff are very nice and helpful! However, this past Saturday had Vetco clinic and not enough staff to fill syringes for vaccinations. Also People don't understand when you tell them your dog has allergies and you can't let your dog near another 'cause of cross-contamination. They don't want to understand and get an attitude!!!! Also, I wasn't given the rabies tag so I had to call Vetco and have them mail me one! Regarding my dog with allergies I can't afford to take her to vet every time for shots. People need to have consideration for other people and their animals.

    I like to shop at PETCO because of the selection of cat food they stock. They also carry a good selection of other cat related items. Scratchers, toys, litter boxes and litter. I like that they have items to calm your kitty, and also chews for hairballs. You can shop online, which I've done, for cat condos, those fun climbing, scratching, pieces of furniture for your cats. They are helpful at PETCO, if you need to ask about specialty items. I was told about a service to get prescription food if you got the Rx from your vet! This makes the food cheaper! Great service to offer!

    I ordered some cat toys and cat food online. None of the toys arrived and the food (only item sent) was open and therefore damaged. Petco said I could have replacements sent or a refund. I said I'd accept a full price refund considering how long this has been going on and my extreme disappointment, or if they can't do a full price refund that I would accept replacements for all. The refund I was supposed to receive would be $39.96, and I received $16. I've been trying to get in touch with them and have had no luck. So it's not just the stores that have awful customer service, it's the whole company. If my issue had been properly resolved I would continue to support Petco. So done with them. They STOLE from me.

She would not eat the tiny pieces of special nutrients they put in their food. They were all over the house. I found a better food at Amazon especially for shih tzu dogs, Royal Canin. She eats all of that and I think that she is better fed now.

    We buy our dog treats & LID wet dog food (New Balance). It was the cheapest around us but it has gone up in the last week. We have a Pet Supplies Plus, PetSmart, & Menards near us but we usually go to Petco now. We used to buy all our things (treats, Dry food, wet food, toys, etc.) at Pets Supplies Plus until they opened Petco. Petco's prices are better or at least they were until just recently. They have begun to increase slightly on some things. If they continue we may be going back to PSP. Our dog likes the treats that Petco sells & the price is still reasonable (they are sold by weight & there is a large variety). Price seems to be the determining factor in our choice of pet stores as well as the available items we buy. Petco has met both of those needs better than PSP, so we will continue to shop Petco until something changes.

    Over the years I had good experiences with Petco in Ohio. After moving to Arizona, I have used grooming services and purchased pet care items at Petco in Prescott for our dog, including “cookie treats” from Petco’s open treat bar sold by weight. Two weeks ago I purchased those treats and put them in a glass cookie jar in my kitchen. I have done this for years with these Petco treats. This week we noticed small moth-like bugs flying in the house. Since it’s winter, this was odd. Then I noticed that the cookie jar contained moths, along with a dusty sort of “web” stuff, and small white worms. The moths were developing from the worms. The treats that I purchased were apparently infested with moth eggs. I will never again purchase this item at Petco. Any type of food safety standards and hygiene are obviously not a consideration in this product. My dog did not seem to be harmed, but if there are moth eggs, what else may lurk in those treats?

    I placed an order for two of the same item. The product page had no indication of product availability. AFTER I placed my order, including the page where I chose shipping method and it stated the items would arrive within 5 days, I received a confirmation email. Then, a short while later, but after I'd already gone to bed, Petco apparently sent another email notifying me that the items were out of stock. The email had a track order link. When I followed the link, it said the items were out of stock. Period. There was no estimate for when they'd have the items again. I ordered the items to get them the following week, as promised on their website. I did not order them to arrive at some undetermined time in the future.

    I called the customer service number to cancel the order. The first message I heard was to go online for fast, friendly service from online agents. Then I was left on hold forever, with an awful, annoying message that every few seconds said how sorry it was for the wait and I'd be helped momentarily. Nobody helped me. I hung up and went online for the "fast, friendly" online service. It was the middle of a weekday. I'm in California, so I'm in the same time zone as their customer service hours. The chat button was greyed out and there was a message stating that all their chat agents were busy. I sent a message via Petco's Facebook page. I got a canned response telling me to call the 800#.

    I wrote them again saying nobody answered at the 800 number and online chat not available. I got another lame response saying how busy they were because of their great promotions, and again, to call their 800#. I Tried the 800 number later. Same thing. Left on hold forever. Nobody answered. Online chat still wasn't available. I found their corporate number and called it. After much back and forth, she said she'd send a message to their executive consumer affairs department who would call me back within 2 hours. Nobody called me back. I called corporate again. A different operator told me they had my info but she'd provide it to executive again. Nobody called me. I tried facebook again. Again, nothing.

    Finally I wrote an email from my business email (I'm a lawyer). And I sent another message to their facebook team letting them know I would be forwarding to the California Department of Consumer Affairs the screenshots of my hold times, the emails regarding items out of stock, the facebook messages, and the greyed out chat button.

    Finally the Facebook team asked me for the order number and said someone contact me. And then I got an email canceling the order. This is bait and switch. They advertise items they don't have in stock, they take your order and your credit card number, and only after all that do they inform you they don't actually have the items, but then make it nearly impossible to cancel your order. Not ok. Not legal. Don't bother with Petco.com unless you don't care when/if your order shows up.

    This is my first complaint about Petco's online service. Please bear in mind, I am a loyal Petco customer who also donates to their Pet Foundation. I made an order for some cat food and cat litter however when I realized the address I wanted it shipped to was incorrect. I tried to cancel my order but could not. When I called Petco to cancel they said I could not because it was IN PROGRESS. Only after speaking to a supervisor who supposedly resolved. However it took almost an hour. Additionally, I received an inquiry about an order but I am not sure for which of the orders I made because they are for the same products.

    That same evening I reordered the products and they were to ship within 2-5 days to the correct address. (It would of been easier if I could have just amended the address like with Amazon.). Now it is 7 days and the order will not ship until maybe Christmas. I called to cancel as my cat NEEDS cat litter and food. When I called the recording does not connect me to the Dept. I need, but keeps repeating itself even though I punch in the correct number required. From now on I will order the same products from Amazon. They normally arrive the same day or within 2 days. I am totally frustrated and done with ordering online with Petco. This Online service is very poor to say the least. However venting my frustration with the online orders and servicing, the service I receive in the stores is AAA+. I will continue, when possible, to go to the store as the service is excellent.

    Ordered dog food online. 3 days later they said something was wrong with shipment but didn’t say what. 2 days later, after out of food, they say it will be another 2 days before processing and shipping sometime after that. Tried to cancel order. Can’t guarantee it would go through. Wouldn’t let me talk to a supervisor. Wouldn’t even send me an email saying they will process a cancellation request. Basically on hold over an hour then spoke to rep for NO resolution!

    I love my store on Gause Blvd. in Slidell, Louisiana... They are always helpful and hey did you know that all of the plants for aquariums and terrariums are 50% off?? Yes. I got some great deals!!! Also let me tell you the other day I called because I needed an aquarium a 55 gallon. But I just needed the aquarium not the light and the rest of the package so they did not have one in stock. Well the guy who was on the phone said that he would go pick one up at another store. Which was not very nearby. Anyway not only did I get the aquarium a couple of hours later. He called me then I got to the store and there were 2 of them. Well I wanted both of them and I got a GREAT DEAL!!! Man I love my local pet store. Everyone there is sooo nice and helpful.     The store was clean and no odors. And pets get good treatment there. Love the grooming and your pet is always clean and smell great after a day at the grooming service. But they was late and should offer some type of gift or something for customers that are on time for their appointments. We drive 45 minutes to an hour depend on the traffic to the nearest Petco in Asheville NC. But now there is one in Hendersonville NC. We have had two different appointments and had to wait about 20 minutes for someone to open up. I drive my mother and her dog.

    Signed my dog up for training classes and then PETCO fired the trainer. They never contacted me to set up training and they have my money and will not refund it. I have contacted them several times to resolve the matter but they refuse to resolve the matter. Their new trainer will not accommodate my work schedule so I am just out the money and Petco is unjustly enriched, and I got nothing for my trouble. Petco is a lousy business and it has terrible customer service.

    Petco does not have the customer service you would expect from a well established company. CS does not exist. They never answer the phone; I have waited as much as 20 minutes and finally hung up after being forced to listen to horrible hold music. I was going to CHAT but it is never available as well. Shipping is supposed to be within two to five days; I am still waiting. I should have learned my lesson from my previous order. If this last order ever arrives, I will not order again from Petco.

    They do not know what they are doing at all. Fish are covered in ich for more than what is normal. You don't even have time to quarantine them. They break out so bad. They die before you can get them clean. Stay away from this store if you want your aquarium to be healthy. I owned my own pet store for many years and I am very experienced in taking care of fish. They should be ashamed of the care they give their fish. STAY CLEAR of their products. I will support a store that can't keep their animals healthy.

    I like the fact that Petco sells my brand of cat food, and that the staff is usually helpful. However, when checking out at the register, the keypad always prompts the customer and asks if they would like to make a donation to help a homeless animal. Asking for a donation isn't what bothers me, it's the fact that they ask for a $2 minimum. I personally find myself not donating as often for that reason. If I was able to donate $1 I'd probably donate each time I visited the store. Additionally, I don't like that the rewards aren't automatically uploaded to our petco rewards card... It's annoying to have to log onto our accounts just to upload them.

    When visiting the store I find that if I can find someone to help me, they know little about the products they sell. There are those few employees however that are very knowledgeable and seem very dedicated to their job. Those few just don't seem to be in the store very often. Going to Petco is like going to Taco Bell instead of going to a Mexican Restaurant to get Mexican Food. It's about the same but you may not get the same quality and your server won't be as knowledgeable. *-+

    I return a merchandise to the store with the understanding they will refund the amount back to my credit card, this back in January 15, 2017. I called my credit card company if they received a refund from PETCO because it's been 7 months. They told me that Petco charge twice with the same amount. I called Petco where I returned the merchandise and spoke with Robert, the manager and denied that there was no returned and keep blaming it on me. He just keep arguing and told him I need the problem resolved. He said he will call me the next day but up to this time, no one called from that store. I am disappointed and frustrated and I told my family not to shop at Petco after what they've done to me.

    The price of dog food and dog treats are too expensive. Spending $7-$12 for a treat that will last for 7-17 seconds is just not right! Individual markets are Just as expensive as the chains are. I did find some bully sticks at Costco that there are around 10 sticks per bag, were big, and I can cut them in half. The bag costs $25. Small store's bully sticks sell for up to $9 each.

    I'm not being dramatic or making any of this up. I called 2 times initially and got absolutely nowhere. The first guy wouldn't listen and the second girl lied to me straight up and got caught in it. Basically, my package didn't arrive complete. It was missing over 50 dollars worth of stuff. The guy I had to hang up on. And the girl I had to call out. She told me that day that it would arrive later that day and that there was a different tracking number for my other items. Oh yeah, then why does OnTrac tell me their tracking number? How did you get this number and not me? Why would you even lie about that just to hold me off for another day? Let's get this fixed now! I'm out on over 50 dollars on guinea pig foods and beddings! It isn't like I blew 50+ on dog toys. These are expensive things I need and I can't just lose 50 dollars in my life right now. So of course she can't provide me this nonexistent tracking number so I hang up.

    I go online and this guy named "Ronald" (sure) answers and he listened and made me feel like he cared and we ended up resolving it, or so I thought. This was all on Wednesday. He told me that he got manager's approval to resend what I am missing since I said I didn't want a refund and I would prefer what I ordered. Perfect! No, It's Saturday now. He said it would take 24 hours to process. That would be Thursday. Days pass and I call to see what's going on because they have my money but there is zero sign of any delivery confirmation email. This lady argues with me that it is up to 24 hours and that it only started processing today and that I won't see anything until Monday in my email since I guess the computers stop working "On Saturday and Sunday". I am so dead LOL. More making me wait, while they have my money, for nothing to happen, because every single one of them lies to me.

    If I could get connected to an honest customer service person who actually wants to help people who bought from awful companies like Petco, things would have been easily solved three days ago. I'm not a difficult customer. I'm a customer who was mistreated repeatedly with my money taken from me. I expect I'll never see those items and I am never calling into customer service again. I'll just get my refund on the online chat help when it reopens. That will be up to another week though so for right now it's almost as though I have to forget about it. Petco has zero ethics at all. I've been shopping in store for over 10 years and I loved it. Ordering made me see what the company is really like. You have a problem? Just deal with it.

    You don't want to go through what I did. Take your money to PetSmart or somewhere else especially if you're doing stuff online. Apparently they don't give people what they ordered all the time. Items always go missing. Good luck convincing anyone to get it back to you. Picture related: 24 hours processing. There is no way it's going to be processed at all. Pray I'll even get my money back so I can take it somewhere else to repurchase food and bedding! Imagine being disabled and timing out online shopping and missing out on essentials for DAYS past and losing out on over 50 dollars! We are almost in 2018. Online is as significant as in store if not more. Improve your online business or take your website store down.

    PETCO consistently carries the brands of dog food that we use which is hard to find elsewhere on a regular basis. We are able to bring our two dogs into the store and they are treated very well.     I like the fact that they carry Solid Gold dog and cat food. It can be hard to find. I have also used their grooming services for my dogs and the groomers there have all been very friendly. I feel safe entrusting my pets to them. They also carry the Dogswell line of treats for dogs that I buy. In the past, I had to order online to get what I needed. Their location is also a plus for me. The Petco I frequent is less than 5 miles from me.

    I have been to Petco occasionally several times over the years to get my fish, fish food, cat food, etc. But I usually found that shopping online on Amazon (being a prime member) was much easier and usually cheaper. However, recently I went there to give to Petco some of my fish's babies (from my tropical aquarium) as they are the only store I found around that adopt fishes and their babies. The store people were very friendly and helpful and I ended up buying their new line of cat food (Wholehearted) as there was some offer going on. Both my picky cats loved it and it was very good quality so I ended up ordering more of both the dry and canned wholehearted food for them online during Thanksgiving sale. I got very good deals and they have free shipping for auto delivery which is awesome. Also, they have free returns to store till 60 days.

    Amazon doesn't accept returns of pet food which makes sense but is not helpful if there is something wrong with the shipment. So, I get my first shipment from Petco and the canned food comes dented with one can leaking all over. I am mad so I talk to customer service and they immediately credit me for the food and tell me no need to return the package. I am extremely impressed with their speedy and helpful service and good collection of food. Will always buy my cat food from them now. They might have more expensive food sometimes but usually they always have coupons for pal rewards members which brings down the cost much more from Amazon and definitely, PetSmart. Oh, BTW, the membership is free and they give you rewards for every buy which you can use as money after you collect a certain amount. And their new line of grain free cat food, Wholehearted is really good, especially the canned food and affordable. Do try it! Good luck!

    I spend a lot of money at Petco. I buy grain free organic dog food in 25 lb bags, grain free canned food, and full grooming services for 2 large dogs. Occasionally I get incidentals as well. I rely on them for their well stocked merchandise and clean, friendly store. The groomers are the best in the neighborhood, and with discount points, I save a little money. None of these items is cheap.

    I used to take my dogs here to bath them in the self serve pet bath. The price at the time was $6 per pet. I'd take both my dogs, then buy some food and a few treats for them. The same bath now costs $15 per pet and I no longer shop here because of the jump in price.     I went to Petco the other day for some dog aspirin and a lady that works there was very helpful in informing us on what type of dosage I should give my dog. The lady had suggested a vet that we could go to because our vet could not take us in. Overall I would suggest the Petco I went to my friends and family.

    Very helpful and informative about animal and product, had variety, sizes, etc... store was clean and organized and stocked up lots of merchandise. Pet was welcome in store and treated like it lived there. Ask if ok to have snack and made a lot of suggestions and even gave info about other places and not putting competitors down or in a negative way. Very pleased and impressed.

    Too many times I have gone into a store and no one was in the register area. The lack of a cohesive uniform sometimes makes it hard to tell who works there and who is a customer. I'd prefer they all wear the same color shirt at the very least. I used to think Petco was more expensive than Petsmart but now find they have higher quality products and their rebate program is much better than anything Petsmart does so I feel I am better off.

    I took my dog there cause I thought he had fleas but he didn't. He had never been put in a cage so unfortunately he destroyed the cage. They weren't upset at all and they just put him in a smaller cage. Most places would have been upset and gave me a bill but not them. I highly recommend them!

    They have very good customer service, the staff is always friendly and helpful, great selection of products, and very convenience locations in the area. I enjoy it when the store has puppies and kittens outside.

    Customer services is overseas and they are nice and want to be helpful but their heavy accents make it difficult to understand. Sometimes the wait time is tooooo long.

    The vet fee for administering annual inoculations was a lot more than the office visit fee at my local vet. I was under the impression that the costs would be less than local vet costs. This place was an expensive visit for me.

    While I was PetCo I felt comfortable to roam the aisles without being solicited to purchase anything, but rather a great customer service department. From car to cashier I was greeted with a smile and any and all questions I had were kindly answered.

    The folks at the local Petco are very helpful and friendly. They care about animals and always have rescued cats for adoption. They schedule dog rescue days frequently. When you need help about deciding on foods or items for taking care of your pets they offer suggestions and information but are never pushy. There is a wonderful grooming crew at this Petco and all the animals I have seen there just love the groomers. The good dog training classes are excellent even though they could use more space to do an even better job. The prices are fair and the service is excellent. I do not buy from Petco online though as every time I did so the items were so poorly packaged that I had to have them returned. There were dented cans and broken crate trays...

    I ordered an item that is sold by Petco.com on Amazon.com. The item arrived missing the hardware to put it together. The product had obviously been opened by another customer and sent back out to me the new customer trying to pass it off on someone else. The product was being sold as new and it is not. This was not a low cost item, it was more than $50. After receiving the item I spent 1 hour on Petco.com customer support who told me repeatedly that I had not placed any order with them.

    I spoke to three representatives, sent them copies of the order, the packing list and read out the numbers on the delivery box. One rep became sarcastic and mocked me and told me I should only deal with Amazon and that Petco had nothing to do with the order (not true it said "sold and delivered by Petco"). I pointed them to the Amazon policy that said I was supposed to call Petco, then they backed down. They now say they will replace the defective product after much pressure from me. I attempted to place this review on both Petco and Amazon.com but they said that it was not something they could post.

    Enjoy the store. Only thing is not enough dog outfits for medium dogs. Employees are very helpful and kind. We have our dog groomed and enjoy getting the rewards.

    When I need a specialty food for my cat or dogs, I prefer their selection. I also look for collars, harnesses and toys for my pets there because they have a greater selection. The staff in Petco usually seems to be pretty knowledgeable and able to give advice. But I really don't shop too often there, because they do tend to be pricey.

    Ordered a Bunch of Stuff Online only to have one of the items ordered missing. Called customer service and told someone has already signed for it. Like I said I had ordered multiple things from them and in this order was one item missing. I told them no one opens up a box with multiple items inside to see if all is there, it would hold up the delivery driver. This person said it was my fault for not checking order before signing and could care less if the order was right or not. Was told they would get in touch with me 24 to 72 hours later for answer about order. Guess what... Not a peep from them since. Cut ties from PETCO now while you've got the chance.

    The store has an expert staff which is prompt to answer questions, and is very polite. But it is often low on fish products, however all other items are usually well stocked and we like the support of spay & neuter, as well as support of adopting pets.

    Do not order from Petco.com. I placed an order for dog food last week. After waiting for the dog food for nearly a week, after I had received an email it was shipped, I went online and tracked the order. It stated that it was delivered last week but was undeliverable and returned to Petco. I was never advised or refunded my money. I called the company and was told that the packaged during transit and returned to the company last week. The representative was very nice but simply asked if I wanted to reorder!!! My credit card had not been credited and it was clear that Petco was going to do nothing about the order until I called!! Be careful. I don't trust this company.

    Petco is a very special store. You can find anything you want there. That's where I shop for my kitty Chester and I am very pleased with the help and service there. Very kind people and they will help you any time you need assistance and the variety of things in that store is awesome. I love that store.

    Great selection of pet supplies, all types of pets, but prices are higher than other pet stores for the same quality of pet foods. Need to get more organic dog food selections. Also, staff could use more training about the products overall.

    I like this store, but they need more variety. I was looking for a pet stroller and they didn't have one that was strong enough for my 2 dogs so a bought a baby stroller and altered it. The pet strollers are too fragile and more 2x large coats for my large dogs.
