Due to pandemic and shortage of specific dog foods I attempted to order Pedigree and Ol Roy from Walmart. Of course they provided Ol Roy. My dog became very ill after 2 days barely able to walk requiring Veterinarian care. $250 later and an array of antibiotics and steroids thankfully my Neiko seems to be recovering. In hindsight this same thing happened two years back to both my labs again after being fed Ol Roy that visit requiring more extensive care, tests and overnight stay (2-3 days) ran us well over $2,000. If your furry baby hasn't yet experienced illness due to this food it is just a matter of time... Don't risk it!

I recently bought Ol' Roy jerky sticks (beef flavor) from Walmart to try and save money. I usually buy different treats from Petsmart to give him a variety and to see which ones he likes the best. I never had a problem until now. I barely got into the bag before they started messing with his stomach. He had really bad gas and constantly pooping. We immediately knew what was wrong and basically threw the whole bag away. I'm hoping since we caught it early it won't be too much of a problem. I'm not saying it doesn't work for other dogs, I personally will never buy ol'roy products again because it makes him sick.

I have a 3 mo old puppy and when I got him he got antiparasitic meds that all puppies get. Well I decided to give him Ol’ Roy canned puppy food. Huge mistake. I thought the diarrhea was from the meds then I thought it was odd it wasn’t going away. Turns out it’s the canned food!! After weeks of giving it to my poor pup I took him off Ol’ Roy to another brand and he got sooo much better so quickly. He put on some weight and had solid poops and could now hold it through the night instead of exploding in his kennel. Don’t buy this if you love your pup. He will get super sick!!!

Because of the panic buying due to the Corona virus, the only thing Wal Mart had was Ol Roy chicken and oatmeal. Now I know why. Within a week of giving it to my 14 year old dog, she went downhill fast, soon she was unable to move, and lay panting to the point when I though was going to die. It was only after talking to a vet and doing research we discovered how toxic and dangerous this food is. We took her off the food and trashed the bag. She improved within hours. DO NOT GIVE THIS RUBBISH TO YOUR PET. It was withdrawn a few years back for poisoning dogs, and yet it's back on the shelves when it shouldnt even be on sale. It's about time someone started a class action lawsuit against the unscrupulous manufacturers, and the retailers (wal mart) who knowingly sell this muck.

I am agreeing with the reviews that the treats are awful. I gave my dogs Ol Roy dog biscuits and all of them became sick. My puppy had severe stomach bloat and was inconsolable. My two year old quit eating and would vomit multiple times throughout the day. After prayer I discovered it is the Ol Roy dog biscuits. I have read the review about it being the owner's fault and I completely disagree. I am a responsible dog owner and I do not just switch treats. These were the only dog biscuits that I have given my dogs. After stopping these treats all of the negative symptoms have disappeared. My two year old dog is starting to eat again.

I have a Papillon weighs 10 lbs. He won't eat nothing but Ol Roy. It's a small square container. He absolutely loves it???? Not to be rude or sound like a smart ** but the negative reviews I've read seem to be the owners' fault not the food or treats. It's common sense if you change your dogs foods or treats they will get sick from it because you're throwing their body into shock from what they normally eat. Any vet will tell you if you change their diet they may have runny stool, vomiting, cramps, etc till their body adjusts. A lot of breeds will form tumors as they age but usually benign tumors. So you can't positively say it's Ol Roy products causing issues unless you have had food tested by a licensed company and a autopsy done on your pet to prove it was the food. Educate yourself on animals and products so you're good parents to your 4 legged babies.

I’ve purchased the Ol’roy dog food for one of my dogs and within a few months she started developing skin growth (little tumors) and then started losing her hair on the back. I thought it was because she was aging, never would’ve guessed it was the food, but I had a hunch to change her food and switched over to Science Diet and the tumors stopped growing and multiplying and 60% of the hair grew back. By mistake I purchased the dog treats a month ago and one of my dogs is having heart issues and cough amplified and the other has blood in her stool. This food should be banned or taken some drastic measures. Lots of money for a painful death sentence for your furry friends! Stay away!

After a few days I took him to the vet who treated him with a round of antibiotics (89$ bill) but after the 1 week treatment he started showing same signs of sickness. I realized the correlation between these treats and his gas, so stopped feeding them to him and within 24 hrs he was back to his usual happy self. THESE THINGS ARE POISON! I tried blue wilderness treats and 3 out of 5 of my babies got so sick. Now it all all depends on the breed and diets of your pets. Just like people. Watch what you eat and watch what you feed your pets. Let's just say I have to buy a new bag every week of Ol Roy beef sticks because my dogs love them so much. They have never gotten sick with them and they can hear a bag open from outside. The bag is easy to open, it smells like beef sticks and my dogs seem to love them.

A while back I bought a big pack of Ol' Roy Rawhide Retriever Rolls for my dogs. After finishing them, both of my dogs vomited within a half hour. I thought it might be a fluke, so a few days later I gave each of them a roll again. They both vomited about 15 minutes later. I thought it was more than a coincidence so I threw them away. It was also odd since my dogs are both very different breeds (one 60-lb Alaskan malamute/shepherd mix and a 45-lb Dachshund/black lab mix, who has literally partially eaten dead rats and not vomited or gotten otherwise ill).

Today I decided to give their rawhide chips a try since I was at Walmart anyway to pick up some other things. Maybe last time it was a bad batch. Maybe the rolls are too big and too much for one sitting. Maybe maybe maybe... so I fed each of them a chip and, lo and behold, one of my dogs has already vomited 10 minutes later. It's just partially digested rawhide and bile. They regularly consume Good Lovin' and Better Belly rawhide. They've also had Pet Factory and DreamBones, as well as the generic Target and Meijer brand rawhide products. They never vomit from those brands. I'm pretty sure something is inherently wrong with Ol' Roy rawhide products.

I for the first time bought Ol Roy dry dog food and dog bones last week. While sleeping, my dog Autumn woke me with jerky body movements. I thought she was just having dreams. Then my second dog Copper started with the jerking. Now this Thursday a third dog Buster has started with the body jerking during sleep. These seemed like jerking but they were such they've woken me up several times during the night. I got up this morning and googled Ol Roy food and I see more dogs have had similar reactions. I am a sled dog musher & have 35 dogs. I have fed Ol Roy's High Performance as my summer time off season food. I often purchase it by the pallet at my local Walmart store. This last summer they changed the formula & the bags are now labeled 'Improved Formula'. Immediately upon 1st feeding, every single one of my dogs got severe diarrhea. Now you must understand my dogs eat a large variety of foods. They eat a lot of different game meats and a variety of fish, rabbits, squirrels and fowl, and I change their kibble to a higher calorie food in the winter. They NEVER get diarrhea.

Despite this I figured I would give it a week or two thinking maybe the dogs just needed to adjust to the new formula. Nope, after about 10 days every dog in the kennel was pooping water. Well as soon as I switched the dogs off Ol Roy’s, within 2 days all of my dog's poop went back to normal. I used to purchase 40 bags of this food per month and I will not again. I used my remaining Ol Roy's dog food for bear hunting bait. Incidentally since then I was in a bind for dog food and bought the regular Ol Roy (the red bag) just enough to feed the kennel for a couple of days and the results were the same. Instant water poo.

We bought a bag of Ol' Roy on Saturday, June 23rd, at the Belle Isle Walmart in Oklahoma City, Ok. I fed my 4 dogs their required amount Saturday evening and again on Sunday morning. I allot an amount of time for them to eat and if they're not done or don't eat it all, I'll put the food up. Yesterday morning, I saw movement in the food. As in "mealybugs." I called Walmart Corporate in Bentonville and began explaining the situation. The 1st young man was very polite and transferred me to the "Ol' Roy Division" and I spoke with a young lady who didn't seem to be alarmed or concerned.

I asked for the manufacturer's name, to which she stated that they're unable to give that information. Walmart's solution: $20 gift card. I then loaded up my dog food container, the Ol' Roy bag, my trash bag with the mealybug food, a baggie showing the mealybug food and took it to the actual store. I spoke with a MOD, she sent me to customer service and I then explained the situation again. The young ladies were accommodating and gave me suggestions for treating my dogs. I'm an animal lover, as I'm sure some of you are, so the callousness of the Walmart/Ol' Roy division is alarming.

I own a 6 yr old German Shepherd and he has eaten Ol Roy complete nutrition dry food since he was a puppy. Where we live is a pretty rural area so I purchase the 50 lb bags and store it in a 5 gallon container, this lasts us for approx. 2 months, saves on trips to store. It was 4 months ago February 2018 that I noticed when I opened the bag to mix with the little bit of remaining food we had, that the bits were a different color (like they changed the formula or ingredients). The bag was the same, everything on it was the same except the coloring. He ate it with no problems, was still happy go-lucky and energetic. I bought another in April 2018, he had no problems. I just purchased a bag on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He ate a bowl that night, he was fine. Seemed the normal self.

Next morning when my daughter got up to let him out of his room he wasn't quite himself, we could tell from looking at him that he wasn't feeling good, I automatically assumed he had gotten into the trash but he didn't. We have the trash can with the floppy lid and keep lid facing a corner so he can't nose it open. My kids are out of school so they are home while I work. When I came home from work on Friday I knew he was sick because he's a momma's boy and I didn't get greeted at the door, when I was making dinner he wasn't standing next to me like usual, didn't touch his food all day and didn't drink any water. He looked and seemed lethargic to me, was very slow in getting up, slow getting up and down steps, and would just lay on floor dozing on and off.

Saturday June 16th my daughter called me at work at approximately 2 pm to let me know that he still had not eaten anything nor drank any water, it had been 24 hrs now, so I called vets office to find they were closed and to call vet in next county which is 45 minutes away. After 5 minutes of searching I found one veterinary office local that was open, made appt and brought him in. After initial exam, rectal exam, and blood work, white blood cells showed infection. My poor buddy was diagnosed with either beginning of pancreatitis or vet said it could be start of liver failure. He is currently on 3 medications and slowly improving.

They suggested and I purchased 2 cans of Purina EN critical care wet food. I mixed some of it whir his dry Ol Roy food and he ate most of it, he was walking and losing his balance but not falling. He has not touched his food at all today and after dishing out almost $500 in vet bills so far and seeing all the reviews on here, I have officially decided never to purchase any type of Ol Roy dog food products again and if it's the food that had something wrong with it I will gladly send a written testimony into the courts, as a matter of fact I have a whole 5 gal pail of it. I'm going to find a laboratory to test it. Until then I'm hoping my buddy recovers quickly from this illness and has no lasting effects on his health.

So why not just give it a shot. Within one month her skin began to heal, within 3 months her skin was completely healed. It's now been 2 years and she is healthy and has a beautiful coat! Ol Roy saved my girl's life!

I got my dog some Ol Roy puppy food (dry). She ate some on Sunday and she threw up. She didn't eat any that night. Then she ate some Monday morning and threw up and had diarrhea in the morning later to have bloody streaked runny stools. Today, she won't eat, is weak, lifeless, throwing up, and pooping nothing but blood. The vet said pancreatitis is the diagnoses. I am paying 600 dollars in vet bills and stressed over possibly losing my sweet baby girl. DO NOT BUY THIS FOOD. FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR COMPANION, DO NOT!!! I have read several reviews similar to mine and I am appalled that this company is still manufacturing any product! I pray that I get enough evidence to draw up a lawsuit. I have never seen my baby girl so lifeless. Her body looks like a skeleton with fur. Belly sunken in and she looks dull. Her eyes are weak. Look at the ingredients!

The first 2 are corn (no value) and fat! The cause of my dog's pancreatitis!!! If I lose my baby, I will come back with a raging vengeance! They grind up euthanized animals and use that as the 4th ingredient. (Animal fat). Plus, Ol Roy can't provide a website with a certified ingredient list! They get pictures from retailers! Also, the last ingredient is one called menadione, form of vitamin k linked to liver toxicity and is not vital to the Safeco regulations! Why is it in our doggy's food?! This brand is owned by Mars pet food. Mars pet food also owned Purina! Beware! Thank you for your time!

Luckily, I gave him my own food also, plus, dry. He is now running around and being himself. It took two weeks for him to come out of it. At first I thought he was going down. Then slowly came back. I added a teaspoon of bacon grease to get her to eat it. She did eventually and threw up later. The next day she did the same thing. To coax her to eat it I put a scoop of wet cat food (she'll steal the cats food any chance she gets). The next morning she threw up. I will be getting a refund on this case and never buy this product again. If only a scoop or two was making my 35lb dog sick I can't imagine what it'd do to a small dog. Just don't do it. Today is Monday December 12, 2017, we just left the emergency vets office at 11:30pm. We had to leave our precious 100 lb Great Pyrenees, Missy, overnight because she is having seizures. She had two seizures before we could get her to the vet and had one at the vet's office. Blood tests were clear. The only change in her life was the dog food we bought at Walmart on Saturday December 10, 2017. We thought we would offer her something different and bought Ol Roy at our local Walmart. Just two days later our 2 1/2 year old little girl was having horrible seizures and didn’t recognize her parents when we spoke to her. We don’t know if she’ll bounce back but we do know that Ol Roy dog food is the cause.

After reading the reviews we wish we had just done some research before making the change. On the other hand, we expect Walmart to be responsible enough to not sell a food that will kill our beloved pets! There has to be some recourse to stop Walmart from selling the Ol Roy poison to unsuspecting pet owners. I will contact an attorney to see if there is anything that can be done to compensate for the pain they have caused. Please don’t take a chance with the Ol Roy poison, don’t feed it to your dogs! I also read 2 or 3 reviews that said their dogs were doing great eating Ol Roy. I equate that to playing Russian Roulette, it’s all good until you get the cylinder with the bullet in it! Good luck to those whose loved ones are suffering because Walmart and Ol Roy could care less. My wife and I pray your pet's recovery and ask you to send good thoughts our way for our Missy!

A little more than a month ago I purchased the Ol' Roy dog treats original biscuits along with dog vitamins. I began giving the two to my pup and within two days he was lethargic, vomiting and had uncontrollable stool. I figured it was either the vitamins or the treats since they were the only two new changes made. After a days of not consuming either one my dog was slowly coming back to normal. I was in constant contact with the vet and was making sure my pup was hydrated and if worsen I knew to take him in. Luckily it passed and he was okay. I stopped giving him the treats and the vitamins. This occurred like towards the end of October.

Now today my niece found the treats in the pantry and gave two to my older dog. She has since had uncontrollable bloody stool and is constantly vomiting! It is definitely the treats as there has been no changes to her diet except the fact that she consumed the treats today! These treats should not be sold at stores if they are not safe for our pets. It was too good to be true when I bought them at Walmart for a dollar! Now I really hope my older dog makes it through. I don’t know if she’ll be as strong as my puppy was. My 9 yr old Husky/Lab mix, Bailey was eating the Ol' Roy Complete Nutrition for a few years and just seemed to stop eating so we figured it was getting too hard for her to chew. So we decided to try the Ol' Roy Dinner Rounds last week (7/13/17) because they are chewy. She seemed to love it and ate the hell out of it. We noticed the past couple days she really wasn't eating much. Sunday morning (7/16/2017) She was completely normal. Barking at us and jumping around to tell us she had to go out. Walking in front of us, practically tripping us in the process. Being her normal Bailey-self. By afternoon she seemed a little out of it. Like she just wasn't feeling well. Late that night she started to pant heavily and threw up. It was white and milky looking. I let her out in case she got sick again and she just plopped down in the grass in front of the house. She just wouldn't move or do anything but lay there and look pitiful.

I called my husband outside and she wagged her tail but still didn't move. After a while she got up and threw up again. She moved a couple times but not very far. We noticed her breathing was very labored. We were outside for over an hour with her. I brought out some water and she drank it like she hadn't had water in weeks. She kept resting her head on her bowl between long chugs of water. She wasn't able to keep the water down long and threw it up moments later. She then went and hid under one of the shrubs front of the house. We couldn't even reach her. We finally got her to come out and tried to get her to come in the house but she couldn't make it up the steps and just collapsed.

My husband had to pick her up and carry her inside. He laid her down a few feet from the door. Her breathing went from labored to shallow in a matter of minutes. There was nothing we could do. We knew a vet couldn't help. She was just too far gone. We would've been lucky to find one open at that time anyway. Bailey took her last breath early Monday morning with my husband, our kids and me with her. We miss her terribly. It just seemed odd that just 4 days after switching to the Ol' Roy Dinner Rounds my dog suddenly died. She was an inside dog so we know she didn't get into anything. She never ate or drank anything she shouldn't. I honestly believe it was the dog food that killed her.

Saturday morning, both my babies were very slow in getting out of their beds and not in a big hurry to go outside and play/potty etc? Definitely something wrong. Again, neither one will eat! Barely drinking water. Now here it is Sunday and I am writing to ConsumerAffairs as both of my dogs stopped eating/drinking completely. I cooked up some chicken breast and cut it up in super small pieces and some soft boiled rice, they wouldn't even eat that! I live in Central Idaho and there are no vets over the weekend so I will have to wait until Monday to see what's wrong with my animals. I have every reason to suspect that the Dog food is the problem! I am going to have it tested for chemicals that should not be in it/and or traces menadione. If I lose my dogs Ol Roy execs will be sued! They are a part of my family and do not deserve to go through this kind of pain. I will keep everyone posted.

I have been buying the Ol' Roy 50 lb. bag, Complete Nutrition (red bag) at Walmart for more than a year now and have been fairly satisfied with it. My problem is last week none of the dogs wanted to eat it. The ones that did eat some were vomiting and their poop was a green watery slime. One almost died and could not even be bribed to eat his favorite snack (a frankfurter/wiener). We had to change to a totally different brand to be sure not to get a repeat of whatever was wrong. As soon as we gave the other dogs the new brand they scarfed it down like they were starving. We kept the bag and some of the food hoping someone would have answers. All dogs deserve the suppliers of their food to show great care in the processing of their food. So the question I have is, what happened?

Please if you feed your dog this food throw it out now. If you are considering feeding your dog this food DON'T! My son who lives with me while going back to school recently bought his very healthy 9 month old dog a bag of Ol Roy dog food to try to save money. I had no idea he had done this or I would have stopped him. He puts the food in a plastic bin so the bag is thrown out. We first noticed Luna the 9 month old active, healthy puppy who had all shots and heartworm treatment start to become lethargic. She just lost her zest for life and had a sad look on her face so I knew something was up. This was a Wednesday and her first time eating the ol Roy was the Monday. By the friday she started with diarrhea so I thought she had a little virus so I gave her some **. On Saturday she refused to eat anything. By Sunday we noticed she was even more lethargic.

We made the decision to take her first thing Monday morning to her vet to see what was going on. Early Monday morning I woke up and took her out for a walk. When she squatted to have a BM nothing but blood came out and I freaked out. I placed a before hours call to her vet. While waiting for his call back I hurried to get dressed so we would be prepared to go when he called back. I heard my son's wife screaming and crying. Luna was gone! She had that quickly died.

We were told by her vet that the probable cause of her rapid death was OL ROY DOG FOOD! He had seen this countless times before which is why he warns all his patients about the possible dangers when feeding this kibble. He said that this kibble often contains toxins that can be deadly to dogs. He also said that is the reason so many times the food is filled with toxic mold which can be seen and as well as mold spores which cannot be seen but are present. VERY SCARY! We are sharing this story in hopes that no one else has to suffer so great a loss to try to budget in a cheaper dog food. Oh and by the way we have 3 other dogs in our home which are on Beyond dog food and none of them became sick. This food should not even be on the market! Please don't feed your fur babies this trash.

Lethargic, threw up, glassy eyes, weak... so scary. We took him to the vet and spent almost $1000 on tests and they could not find anything. He didn't eat for several days, but got better, so we started giving him the kibble again and 3 days later, the same symptoms returned only worse. He was so sick that I started researching final arrangements online. This lasted for a couple of days and again, he got better. We were so happy, but once he started eating, it happened again. Had more tests and again, they couldn't find anything. We kept trying to figure out what in the world was causing our baby to get so ill that we thought he was going to die... we went over everything we could think of, then I started reading the reviews here and the symptoms were the same that Bear had!!

I am so upset that this company that I trusted has made so many pets ill and some have passed away! We have not given Bear any more of his kibble. Only gave him rice and chicken and he's back to his old self. The longer this goes without him being so ill again, the more we are certain that it was the Ol Roy Dog Food! Well one morning I woke up to find a small bump on my arm that looked like a pimple then another then another then another. To make a long story short, I noticed the worms in my poop. They are eating through my hardwood floors and Orkin didn't even work. My furniture is getting burrowed into. My dog is now ill with the same symptoms as everyone else's.

We have a full blooded almost 2 year old Pit bull. He is a big sweetie. He has ate Ol' Roy since he was a puppy. He never would gain a lot of weight and he would rather eat people food over his dog food (but what dog wouldn't). He didn't show a lot of signs with having issues with the food. I didn't think anything about it but I am happy I looked into his dog food. After reading all these reviews I called my husband and told him that Loki was to come off of this food immediately. That night after I got home from work, we went to the store and stood on the dog food aisle for about 20-30 minutes trying to find the perfect food. Finally we agreed on Just 6 by Rachael Ray. We got home and poured him some of his new food and he started eating.

He ran out the other night and before I could get home with the other bag my mother-in-law poured some of the Ol' Roy in his bowl and then called and told me he wouldn't eat it. I am happy he will no longer eat this food. I put him on different treats as well and he can no longer have cheap unhealthy treats (he won't even eat them). My dog is so much happier and healthier. He has started gaining weight and has become more healthy looking. His eyes have also cleared up a lot more and are not red and irritated looking. I advise all pet owners to not sacrifice their fur babies health to save a few bucks. In the end it will save their life.

I filed a complaint with the FDA and am submitting my review on Ol Roy Pet Foods. The end of May 2016 I purchase a bag of dry Ol Roy at my local Walmart. I feed my 4 year old pug boiled chicken and rice - and I always mix that with some dry dog food. I fed him like I normally do. Approx a week later my dog started with intense diarrhea. The following day he vomited both his breakfast and dinner. The next morning once again he vomited breakfast. I then called his vet and made an appoint for that evening at 5pm. Other than vomiting, he seemed active and alert. A few hours later that completely changed. Fortunately I was home! He was cold, listless and limp. Instead of waiting until his 5pm appointment - I realized he was in seriously grave shape. I rushed him to the vet. He was admitted. They put him on heat support, IVs, took X-rays and did bloodwork.

2 hours later my vet called me- his liver levels were so high they couldn't even get an exact reading! He said my dog needed to be transported to the animal emergency room where he had to undergo an ultrasound. My pug spent the next few days in intensive care at the animal ER. More tests and blood work were done. He had an "acute insult" to his liver and it is believed to be from a toxin. I spent days searching my house and yard for any possible exposure to a toxin and found nothing. Then for some odd reason I looked up his dog food, Ol Roy, and came across this horrific page of reviews! I can't believe Walmart would sell this stuff when people's pets are dying. So far, I've spent nearly 3500 dollars and my dog still isn't back to where he was. He is still very sick from this. For the next few months he will have regular blood tests done, he is on about 4 different medications to make him better.

Please to anyone who reads this never buy this food! I was lucky that I was home to rush him to the vet - because if I wasn't, I don't think he would be alive today. The first vet cost me 450, then a couple hours later the animal ER cost me 2500, plus his visits since then - getting more meds and blood work add up to another 500. I'm including a copy of the ER bill just so everyone who thinks saving a few dollars on dog food won't cost you big time in the end. Oh it does! Fortunately he is still alive!

Since switching to the Walmart brand, the Bernese has had diarrhea and runs when he sees a stick treat, the Westie has refused to eat it, and the Border Collie now has pancreatitis ($300 vet bill) and ruined the bedroom and hall carpets by passing blood with stool (dog is housebroken). Nothing else was changed in their diet, no table scraps, and we searched the yard for anything that may have caused the issue.

If the dogs were asked to rate it, they would probably give it three paws down. BTW, lot # is 6069804220216. Expiration date is 09/01/17. Suffice to say we are extremely dissatisfied with their product. We are submitting this review to help other pet owners become aware of an unsatisfactory, possibly fatal, product. One of the rescues had problems digesting a lot of the higher quality grain free foods and I made a decision on a whim to try Ol Roy's dog food. Somewhat as a last resort because her stomach would get so upset with everything I was trying. Her stomach seemed to handle the food fine, however, it caused all my dogs to have allergic reactions. I didn't put two and two together for months as my vet kept telling me that the reactions were caused by fleas. After purchasing over $600 in products to fight fleas to even include spraying my yard and antibiotics from the vet they were still itching and having the reaction. My Shiba Inu almost had a complete loss of undercoat. So I changed everything. I didn't let them outside as much. I tried different shampoos, multiple flea products.

The only thing that stayed the same was the food because I never thought the dog food would be unsafe. My poor dogs have red bumps all over them and have lost considerable amount of hair before I finally figured out that Ol Roy's dog food was causing it. I started to research the food and have come across terrible ratings from not only other consumers but people who scientifically test dog food as well. I feel like a terrible pet owner letting them endure this uncomfortable reaction not even realizing that it was the poor quality of food that I was giving them. I have switched their food and they are happy. I will never purchase dog food again without doing research. Nothing had changed except her and the other 2 dogs we stopped eating their Ol Roy Complete Nutrition dog food. We had to take her to the emergency vet and we could have lost her. I wanted to know why. My search led me to menadione sodium bisulfite. A synthetic form of vitamin K called K3. Menadione is C11H8O2 which didn't look chemically stable. So I searched C12H08O2 which I found out is Oxanthrene which is a form of dioxin. Menadione sodium bisulfite is C11H9NaO5S. Dioxin is commonly C12H4Cl4O2. I reasoned that a breakdown of the menadione sodium bisulfite by hydrochloric acid (HCl in the stomach) resulting in dioxin.

This, I believe is the issue regarding various brands of pet food which menadione sodium bisulfite is an ingredient. Some foods may have it without having it listed. My conclusion is that certain dog foods are poisoning our dogs. More than likely some pet foods which use it, have quality. Nevertheless it is quite probable that the menadione sodium bisulfite is breaking down to form dioxin. I welcome any discussion into this idea.
