I have two Yorkies, one 16 year old with stomach issues & 12 year old with collapsed trachea issues. They absolutely love this food. I alternate and give them both (dry & wet). They have been on this food for about a year. My 16 yr old no longer has stomach issues!! Unfortunately, they discontinued only the wet chunky gravy. Luckily, the kibble was not. Onto a my journey to find something similar that they will love. Nutro Ultra please bring back the wet chunky gravy!!!

Nutro Essentials Dry Dog Food Toy Breed has the smallest bites that I have found. The perfect chihuahua dry dog food. My chihuahua had stopped eating dry dog food, for several years. I tried just about every dry dog food there was, and she refused to eat even the best, including Blue Buffalo. She loves Nutro Toy Breed and has for several years now. She does not like the Nutro Small Breed as much as the Toy Breed. She just loves these tiny bites.

Three of my four dogs started vomiting. We took them to the vet and they were prescribed medication which didn’t help, in fact had to make an emergency call on a Sunday! They vomited their food either right after they ate it or around 3 o’clock in the morning! It was undigested food! After changing to a different brand the vomiting stopped almost immediately!

I've been feeding my dog Nutro lamb and rice since he was a 12 week old pup, started with the puppy food and then switched to adult. He is now 15 months old. About a month ago (after buying a new bag of Nutro lamb and rice) he started to throw up his food several hours after eating. This went on for 3-4 days and then he refused to eat the food. I called the Vet and started him on a bland homemade diet, he immediately stopped throwing up. After over a week on a bland diet, I started to intro Nutro again, just to have him suffer with horrible stomach gurgles and really bad diarrhea. I contacted the Mars Pet company via email with my pet's detailed story to get some info, have they changed the recipe?

Unfortunately, they sent me back a generic email with a number to call. Not helpful at all, I would have called in the first place without wasting my time had I known I would just get an automated response. Anyway, I went back to homemade food. He is doing great, I just started to introduce a new kibble (different company) and have had no issues. The last bag I bought of Nutro lamb and rice made my dog sick and I'm lucky I caught it in time before he suffered further. Please note this is a recent issue. I had senior dogs a few years ago and I feed them this same food with no issues for most of their lives. I'm very disappointed with the food and the customer service experience.

Long time user of Nutro Lamb and Rice small kibbles for a 17 pound adult dog. The day after opening a 6 lb. bag purchased in April 2019 our dog did not want to be touched and did not want to lie on her side. Two days later, the dog developed a yellow watery diarrhea. Her appetite and water consumption did not change during this time. Kept giving her the daily food for 3-5 more days. Diarrhea did not change. Took her to the vet who prescribed a bland diet (in limited amounts) of rice and boiled white chicken meat. Continuing the bland diet for another week, did not slow the yellow watery diarrhea. Doctor then prescribed a different probiotic and Purina EN kibble. Today is the day after the first Purina EN diet day. This morning's stool was formed, not watery, and not yellow in color. Except for Nutro purchased in April, I cannot identify other factors that might have caused the digestive upset.

I have fed this food for years! And have had many dogs that I have rescued off the streets even on it. I see their coats get better within a week. I currently have 3 dogs that are mine, and they have been on Nutro their whole lives. I have never had a problem with them getting sick or diarrhea. Now that everyone is out of puppy stage, I feed my 3 year old Aussie and my 1 yr old Lab mix the Nutro Ultra Adult (chicken/lamb/salmon) and my 12 year old Staffie the Nutro Ultra Senior food (chicken/lamb/salmon).

I will always feed my dogs this, it has never done me wrong. They have tons of energy, shiny and soft coats, and everything. No reason to change. Any time they have gotten diarrhea or threw up has been because they have eaten a weed in the yard that didn't settle well with them. So don't blame the food, it all depends on the dog and if they have an issue. That's why there are so many dog foods out there, not every dog can eat the same thing. Try a small bag and see how your dog's reaction is on it, and then go from there.

It first happened "coincidentally" around the same time Nutro started selling in WalMart. I opened my dogs food and it looked wrong, but smelled fine, package intact. My pet wouldn't eat it. They had changed the formula, reducing the lamb content and increasing the chicken content - a cheaper ingredient. Both of my dogs require special diets, and cannot just change foods, which is what Nutro did. It was not on the product packaging unless you read the ingredients, or ANYWHERE on the product page of their web site - I discovered it by digging into their FAQ's. I contacted the company for a refund of my pricey dog food and when I REALLY pushed they conceded that all the lamb formula dry dog foods were being changed to increase chicken - which wasn't even supposed to BE an ingredient in my other dogs "Limited Ingredient Diet Lamb & Rice formula".

I began changing his dry food immediately to avoid the sudden ingredient shift but kept them on the Nutro canned food since it didn't appear to be having the same changes and my dogs can't change food easily. Well, 9 months later, I get 3 autoship orders in a row of the wrong kind of canned food. I even asked when I called if Nutro changed the food, but what I received is still being sold a a distinctly different product from what I ordered, and as far as the seller knew they are separate and their own warehouse had screwed up several times.

Today it happened for a fourth shipment and I was on the companies web site to get the VERY SPECIFIC info for the warehouse and discovered the product I ordered shows in a tiny picture on the side a "new look". Old product, "Chunky Chicken and Turkey Stew" "NEW LOOK" is "Turkey Sweet Potato and Green Bean". That. Is. NOT. A NEW. LOOK. The ingredients (on the actual LABEL and the ingredient list) are completely different, and once again CHEAPER. My CANINES don't eat sweet potatoes. Every product that gets a "NEW LOOK" but says nothing about the formula change is a straight bait and switch tactic to swap out for cheaper ingredients.

My lab has been on Nutro for the last 4 years. When we opened the most recent bag purchased in April 2019, my dog was sick with diarrhea that same night. She was sick for the next 4 days until we finally stopped feeding it to her and started her on a bland diet. I reached out to the company a week ago and have yet to hear back. They either changed their ingredients or something went wrong at the plant, Either way a recall is needed in my opinion. Would not recommend until they release information on what happened this spring and publish how they will fix.

I bought the adult lamb and rice Nutro dog food and started mixing 1 cup with 1 cup Purina puppy food as I was transitioning my puppy to adult food. It took about a month to get through the 15 lb bag. Then I stopped the puppy food and went solely to the Nutro. About a week in, my 6 month old border/aussie started having liquidy, yellow diarrhea. It took me about another week to realize it was the Nutro. My dog had stopped eating as much and then didn't want to eat the food at all. We thought she was sick and this was why. I would mix in a little chicken broth so she would eat (after the fact, I regret forcefeeding her this poison). She also drank very little water, which was worrisome because of the diarrhea.

She no longer played, mostly just slept, and wasn't herself. She would have accidents in the middle of the night when she was already fully potty trained. Both pees and 'poops'. They also were the most disgusting smell in the world. Nothing like a normal dog poop smell. It smelt like rancid meat and chemicals. The picture attached is not my own, but it is what her poop looked like-sometimes even less solid and almost with a gelatinous nature.

I read reviews here (luckily after only 2 weeks) and threw away the Nutro. I started feeding her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice. It took about 4-5 days before she took her first solid poop again! She also regained her energy and went back to being her normal, hyper little self. I kept her on chicken and rice for another 2 weeks then switched her to Fromm dog food. She has been perfect ever since (that was 4 months ago). I believe NUTRO would have killed her had she eaten it 1 more week. Why is there no recall yet? #doglivesmatter

Nutro has two varieties with the petite size kibbles and we have used them for our dogs and have suggested them to other family members with small dogs. We have found that our pets are all satisfied and healthy while using the Nutro Ultra as well as the regular Ultra. We have tried other brands, but we keep going back to the Nutro since the dogs seem to like it best and we are satisfied with the ingredients.

I got a bag of this for my 4 month old German Shepherd because of the good reviews and it was a horrible mistake! After about a week and a half my puppy would throw up in his kennel around 5:30-6:340am, like clockwork. A yellow bile substance. I thought it was because of the late night treats he would get before bed, but when I cut those out he would still do it 3 nights a week. He was also consistently gaining 3 lbs a week on the food we started him out on, which was Purina One Large Breed puppy Food. Well the past 2 weeks he has maintained and even lost a pound. Did some digging on the food and it is apparently a thing with Nutro, the throwing up in the middle of the night. I feel bad that he was on it for as long as he was!

Not realizing it was the food making her sick for a couple days, went to feed her breakfast and she would not eat it. Just looked at the bowl and looked me. Put two and two together then.

I called the store where I bought it and was told they were getting many calls recently about this very issue with Nutro foods and was told to bring it back and they would help me find a new dog food for her. We are very disappointed with the Nutro company for not being forthcoming about their ingredient change. Our pets are our family and would never knowingly feed them something that would make them sick. I raised both ten year old Papillons on this food. Recently I started seeing it on the shelves at places like Walgreens and Dollar General. This gave me great pause. 2 years ago we adopted a larger rescue and starting buying the Nutro cans of the same food. There was so much gel, the poor dog began having horrible re-flux issues. We stopped and bought more of the smaller packs for her as well. About 2 months ago we bought a case of the chicken and rice from PetSmart and had to return it. The food inside was old and grey tone. They apologized and gave us the "new" look packets.

The recipe which I knew first hand as I hand fed one of my older dogs, had changed. They added sweet potato to the chicken and rice which only had peas before. The Lamb has that same gel found in the cans. All of my dogs got diarrhea and acid re-flux. Their poop was green and yellow. Total bile from their insides. I am angered beyond reason. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years on their food, and now have to scramble to find something my 10 year old can eat, who has been eating this since he was a year old.

Shame on them. DO NOT FEED your dogs this food and do not believe a word they say about not changing the recipe. It's an absolute lie. I have had this food in my hands literally feeding my little one who has tooth issues. The recipes are the worst made with the cheapest ingredients. Shame on PetSmart, and Chewy who didn't notify their customers of this change. However, it seems that PetSmart bought Chewy.com and receives product fairly cheap. If I could give negative stars I would. Our regular vet had us put our Golden Pyrenees on Nutro nearly 2 years ago to help with her weight... She loved food, especially if it was within her reach such as dinner table, kitchen counter. It seems that Nutro changed their packaging and even naming of food not long ago which, I read here others think they changed the formula and I’m inclined to agree since her symptoms showed up about 2 35 lb bags into the change. She never had nor was suspected of having any heart issues but her diagnosis from vet hospital, after xrays, ultra-sounds, visible symptoms, blood work was DCM and CHF, Thrombocytopenia, Pulmonary thromboembolism and cranial vena cava thrombosis and Acute Kidney Injury.

Her symptoms began about a week or so before hospitalization with nebulization/oxygen cage when she began hacking/coughing, before that she was panting like she was hot so I did all I knew to cook her down (groomed/thinned her fur and bought cool pad for her bed). I thought the hacking was possibly hairball until a couple days after hacking started, she fainted. Symptoms upon hospital admission: thrombocytopenia, mild pleural and abdominal effusion, neutrophilia, mildly elevated liver enzymes, azotemia, dyspnea-hemoptysis-epistaxis, facial swelling and Bloody black tar stools.

Finally, symptoms escalated, became more lethargic, nearly unresponsive, and coughing up blood. We were on the verge of transferring her to another clinic to try a hyperbaric chamber, before coughing up blood, but vet questioned if she would survive the transfer. I was willing to sell the moon and the stars to save her but once she began coughing up blood the vet said it was from the lungs... We had to let her go. We lost her 10/10/18. They did put her on 1000 mg of taurine and 1000 mg L-carnitine, which I know is along the lines of this whole “grain free” issue. Please check your dogs blood work if on this or any grain free food. Find a supplement to add if you don’t change foods.

We fed our dog Nutro dry dog food since she was a pup. Normally purchased the food at Petsmart. In November of 2018 I discovered that Walmart started carrying the same food, still branded Nutro in the exact same bag, for several dollars cheaper. Those of you that know Nutro realize this food is not cheap. Within a week my dog started getting sick - at that time we did not suspect that it was the food. She continued to eat it and became sicker. With Vets input we changed food and there was much improvement in her BM - from water to a paste. Later discovered it was in fact the Nutro HOWEVER we caught it too late (please mind that this dog was taken to the vet on a regular basis and no illness was ever ignored, or treatment postponed).

Tried to contact Nutro without any response whatsoever. I did learn that they changed the contents of the food when they went for the mass market Walmart appeal to lower their production cost. Stay away fro this brand and this company. They don't care two ** about animals not even to the point of responding to assist you in saving your dogs life. Had I been able to find out what changed, we would have been able to treat her for the poison they package! Instead of petting my 3 year old Rottie, I now get to look at the urn in which she is placed. May she rest in peace and Nutro go down in flames!!

We have a 10-year old Pomeranian. He has been on Nutro for about 8-years now and he really loves it! We get the Nutro Max Grain Free Mini Chunks (great for small dogs!) and the senior Hearty Stews wet food. He does great on this diet and has lots of energy and excellent fur coat. When our vet let us know to switch him over to senior food we could not find the mini-chunks in senior. Turns out they do not produce this. Our vet stated it would be OK to keep him on the adult mini-chunks but to switch his wet food to the senior option. This seems to work fine. I would recommend to Nutro to make all of their wonderful dry foods with a mini-chunk size for those of us with smaller dogs.

My dog had a severe reaction to a flea and tick medication last fall. He’s an 8 lb long hair chihuahua. He lost 1/3 of his total body hair — developed quarter-sized sores on his skin with a severe case of seborrhea. His skin was literally peeling off of him. He stopped eating or drinking for a couple of days so we rushed him to the vet. Put on antibiotics and a fungicide — prescribed Douro Seborrhea Shampoo and we decided to do an allergy test on him for foods. After force feeding him canned food by hand for a week, he finally recovered. The allergy tests came back and the results were shocking — he was highly allergic to 19 foods out of a 25 item panel. The only thing he was NOT allergic to was lamb, beef and rabbit — that’s it. So the hunt was on for a kibble that had severely limited ingredients. After researching for a month, I finally settled on Nutro Limited Ingredient Lamb and Sweet Potato Small Bites.

Not only did it contain stuff he could eat, but the combination of ingredients was specifically formulated to help skin heal and thicken up hair. Within 2-3 weeks, my dog’s hair started regrowing and SO much thicker and shinier than it ever was before. It was noticed by my vet and the groomer. He absolutely loves the food and we even use the little kibble bits to treat him. I’ve never seen him react so positively to any food before. I was so impressed with this food, I called Nutro just to tell them about the positive experience I had with their product and how much my dog loved it. Nutro for life — I’ll never purchase any other brand.

It's now Sunday and it has got so bad that she is suffering. I have come to the conclusion it's the Nutro food because she was fine before I started feeding her this. The dry food is the only change made to her diet so it must be this Nutro dry causing her problem. Now I have to throw away an almost full bag of food. Not risking feeding her any more of this.

Earlier this year, my young dog started itching and I was wondering about a food allergy. She was on Nutro Small Bites for adults. Food allergies are a tricky thing to diagnose, but after reading all the horrid reviews, we decided to make a change and we just put her on Castor & Pollux brand. She hasn't had any problems since. Since my senior was doing well on his food that he had eaten for over 5 years, we continued giving Him the Nutro Senior.

We buy food at the commissary, not a big box store, so my hypothesis is we have been buying reserve food and finally caught up with the current production that is making dogs puke and giving diarrhea. We opened a new bag last week and he was dry heaving like he was sick and had bloody stool at first. I didn't know he was on a new bag as my husband takes care of that, but when the projectile diarrhea started, my husband admitted he was on a fresh bag of food and we may have caught up to everyone else. We moved my senior to the Castor & Pollux food and I was confused because they don't have a senior line but it says on the packaging it's for all stages, making it really easy to just buy and serve!

I purchased Nutro Dog Food on Saturday, 1/5/19 at the Walmart in Sevierville, TN. I fed a total of 4 cups to my puppy, 2 cups per meal time. This was my first time purchasing Nutro Dog Food of any type. I read the ingredients, I liked the packaging and I felt that the food would be good for my puppy. My puppy consumed all 4 cups of the puppy food. Later that evening, she became very lethargic; no jumping and running around, no smiling, no licking, and no playing.

However, she had an extreme thirst for that evening and all of the following day, Sunday, 1/6/19. So we gave her DOUBLE the amount of water we normally give her the latter part of Saturday, all day Sunday, and Monday morning. No thinking it was the dog food, when I gave her 2 cups of Nutro puppy food on Sunday morning, 1/6/19, she would not eat it. In fact, she did not eat all day, but she had massive bowel movements all day Sunday and it continued Monday morning, 1/7/19. After her last massive poop on Monday, 1/7/19, she started feeling much better. Around 11:00 am on 1/7/19, she became hungry for the first time in over 24 hours. We fed our puppy baked chicken and rice, she returned to her normal self. We will never, ever feed her Nutro dog food.

My dog ate for a few weeks, then one day started throwing up yellow bile and had bloody diarrhea for about a week. I took her to the vet and she got Rx dog food, antibiotics and a clean bill of health. Assumed it was something she might have eaten off the street (this happened before because of that, we live in a city), so never thought it would be the dog food. She stopped wanting to eat it so much after that, but I thought perhaps because it was a weight management formula (so less tasty?). Anyway, she spent time at my mother's house where she ran out of this dog food and ate my mother's dog's food and gobbled that up and had no problems. We came home and two days back into this dog food she is throwing up yellow bile and has bloody diarrhea again. After reading the reviews, clearly it's this food! Will never buy Nutro again.

He started vomiting yellow bile, pooping blood and mucus, then it escalated to bloody vomit all within a week of starting this bag. We had no idea what was causing this. Took him to vet, and they could not find anything wrong after a bunch of tests. Put him on a bland rice and chicken diet and he was great for 2.5 weeks. We slowly introduced the Nutro back in and 2 days later he vomited more blood than before. It took him 2 days to snap out of whatever daze he was in. This food would have killed him. Mixed it with the remaining food but by the third day he was vomiting about 90 minutes after eating as well as acting like a old dog not a puppy. I first thought he found something outside and ate it while going out to do his business but not the case. After Googling I found all these other reviews and the problems from 2008 and stopped giving the food. Made a emergency run to the pet store and switch to another brand. So far so good. No problems. He is back to bouncing off the walls

I did call Nutro. They sent me a email requesting a lot of information off the bag which I just sent them. Also said they would reimburse me for the food so hold on to your bag and give them a call. Maybe they can find the problem and others will not have to go through this. Even though I probably won’t try it again. I don’t really enjoy cleaning up vomit. Enough for a second chance. Nutro is also owned by Mars Incorporated which I just find weird.

About a week ago she started becoming lethargic and hiding under furniture, which is totally out of character for her even at her age. Shes a jack and always been very active. She then started vomiting only bile and pretty violently and stopped wanting to eat her kibble (also out of character). I switched her to rice and boiled meat as I was worried she was starving and she gobbled it up, no appetite problems there. The next day I mixed a little bit of the kibble with some warm water and wet food. All she would do is lick the food and then pick out the kibble and spit it on the ground. This is when I knew it had to be something wrong with the kibble. Saw other reviews having the same problem as me and I discontinued feeding her the Nutro kibble right away. Slowly her bowel movements have been improving along with her mood. It's a big "No" for me from this point on.

He was quiet and kind of depressed looking, not active, then came the diarrhea with mucous and blood and lots of it (I was having to clean his rear by hosing it off or showering him, then wiping/blotting dry) - none of which is his norm. I was buying small Nutro bags at my local Stop N Shop Food store after his last food wasn't holding his interest, thought I'd switch him off for a while then eventually go back. I kept him on this poison for almost 3 weeks before making the connection.

The timeline was exact between starting Nutro and any symptoms. The diarrhea and blood got worse and worse, he would go out frequently yet still had several accidents in house, had an uncontrollable urgency to go. When I finally realized and stopped Nutro the blood lessened right away and was gone within about 24 hours. He's still not 100% health wise but improving. Its been almost a week. Some diarrhea at times but not with urgency, no blood, no more accidents in house. Signs of his old personality peek through, but this really did a number on him, so still waiting to see him back to normal.

It was almost immediate that her demeanor changed and she hasn’t vomited once since the food change. I suspected it might be the food because she would eat it toward the end of the day but it was almost because she felt like it was better than nothing and I really thought she was avoiding it.

Poor dog. $320 later I google Nutro Dog Food and found tons of complaints with the same vomiting complaints and worse. Do NOT feed your dog Nutro. I am convinced this was the culprit all along. By mid-September, we had switched over completely and our dog started having loose stools. There was a bloody fluid coming from his rear, which we figured was from his anal gland. We took him to the vet to have his gland expressed and they were alarmed by the blood, which they said was not coming from the gland, and put him on an antibiotic. We also saw some mucus in his stool. Even after the antibiotic, his stools remained very soft for a number of days, so we switched back to his old food. Within 3 days on his old food, his stools were back to normal. I'm fairly confident there was something wrong with the Nutro we were feeding him.

We normally have our dog food delivered, but we messed up on dates, so we picked up a bag of Nutro, as we've always used them in the past. After a few days, our pups (2 Lab mixes) were periodically throwing up bile. Always in the morning before eating, so we thought that because the % of protein/fat/etc were different, they needed more. The vomiting did not stop and they seemed a little lethargic (it has been raining, and they don't like rain, so it didn't seem out of the ordinary). After almost getting thrown up on my head because my bot couldn't get off the bed fast enough, I was looking into a possible formula change and saw all these reviews.

I dug more and found the FDA Import alert and the melamine issue caused all those deaths in 2007. We have been feeding nothing but Nutro for 11 years. In late July of this year we started having diarrhea issues with our 6 yr old chocolate lab. He is quite the indiscriminate eater and will pick up things in the yard and chow down on them so we did not think much of it. We took him to the vet, got some meds and off we went on the journey of a week of meds. Then our 11 yr old chocolate lab came down with diarrhea. We took her in and they said tummy bug so they gave her the same meds. All along, the vets are telling us this is either bug/parasite related or dietary. I insisted all along that it should not be dietary because they have been on the same food all of their lives and it did not make sense in my own head just what could have suddenly gone wrong with the food that now and only now were we having issues with diarrhea.

Here we are just over 2 months later and about $600 or more at the vet (mind you I do not care about the cost, it is the principle of the matter) and we have bounced back and forth between the two furbabies having watery diarrhea. We have gone through at least 6 scrips of ** for each of them and then we also added a broad spectrum dewormer/anti-parasitic to the mix. After we started that broad spectrum med, we had to give another dose two weeks later. Just a day or so before round 2 of that medication, the diarrhea came back full force for both of them (we had not at this point changed any food because I was insistent that it should not have been the food...silly, naive me).

Once we knew that our only other choice was to try a food switch we started the transition. I went to the store and got some Science Diet that is specifically formulated for each of their ages and we started the transition period so as not to upset their tummies even more. Knocking on wood and crossing my fingers and praying to the good Lord above, stools are currently better than ever and they seem to be doing well on the new food...

HERE IS THE KICKER THAT IS GOING TO CAUSE ME I AM SURE A TON OF RESEARCH THAT I WILL RELENTLESSLY DO UNTIL I FIND OUT THE ISSUE... Nutro recently did a "bag design change" and I have to wonder if they did any type of formulary change to the food itself. It does not make sense to me that anything else could have contributed to such a large issue since we are currently doing just fine on the new food. I have to wait a couple more weeks just to be sure but how do I know for sure if the formula has changed? I do not have labels from previous bags and by looking at this page, the company is not going to admit to anything. Please let me know if this reaches you and what you think I should do to dig for the truth.

Fast forward to September 2018 my dog became ill with the same symptoms again only this time she could barely stand on her own. Emergency visit to the Vet this past weekend ($650)... Vet still can't determine what is causing it.

I now believe that she was poisoned by this food. I will not be feeding her any products from Nutro ever again. I have been buying Nutro dog food for my dogs for years, but I will never buy another bag. For the last three weeks I have been struggling to figure out what has been making my dogs ill, but now I know that it is the Nutro dog food. I know this because I have taken them off the food and put them on a bland diet of chicken, rice, and broth and they improve. As soon as I reintroduce the Nutro, the yellow mucus and ultimately blood in the stools returns as well as the vomiting.

Unfortunately, it took me three cycles of doing this to my animals before I figured it out. We took them on a weekend trip during the first bout of illness (right after I bought the new bag of food) so we blamed the trip and stress. We tried to reintroduce the Nutro when they improved after about a week and they got sick all over again. We incorrectly assumed their stomachs just weren't ready for kibble yet. Now after 3 weeks and both dogs being in good health for about a week, I slowly introduced the food back into their daily diet, and bam--both sick again. I am convinced The Nutro is the cause, and it's not the first time their food has made animals sick.

Called Nutro's consumer care number and after sitting on hold for 15 minutes I managed to talk to an agent and make my complaint. I asked if they have had any similar reports and the agent said, "We don't have any recalls or anything at the moment so I don't think so." Sure thing. This site tells me otherwise. They are sending me a voucher for a new bag of food which I will be throwing away along with this bag. Nutro really doesn't seem to care that they are potentially killing people's pets.

Nutro Wholesome Essentials Feed Clean Dog and Cat Dry Kibble sounded great on the label, but my dog and cat ignore it. I had tried different flavors, chicken vs. Salmon and had the same issues with cat and dog. Upon mixing it with their wet food, they got stomach issues, {mucousy stools, bleeding (my dog)} and throwing up. My cat just ignores the bowl of kibble now, it has sat there for weeks, even when I dumped it and tried more of the new flavor, (chicken to salmon). When mixed with wet food, it caused her to throw up, which she never did before. I called Nutro reading that they add garlic to the food, but they said it was a safe amount. Please read your other reviews with numerous similar complaints including their beloved pets dying. I do not wish to take that chance with my precious fur family members.

After about 2 weeks of feeding this food, I noticed vomiting and loose stools, to Bloody Diarrhea. Every dog showed the same symptoms. As soon as I took them off this food All is back to normal. There is Definitely something wrong with this food. There needs to be a Recall before some possibly die.

The next day she began to have blood specks in her vomit. I did my research and saw similar complaints affecting large amounts of dogs on this food due to ingredient change. Immediately, my dog has no coughing, no yacking and no VOMIT! It's been over a week. I can't believe how much of a daily happiness switching made both of us. Sleeping at night and feeling better. Even her potty responses have changed SIGNIFICANTLY! I'm so shocked how a dog food was basically slowly destroying and killing my dog. My dog Pepper is a healthy 7-year old Chihuahua Jack-Russell mix, and I've been feeding her Nutro Wholesome Essentials (chicken, small-breed) for a couple years now due to the raving reviews. I noticed this year she has started throwing up somewhat often, but I didn't think it was her food since she'd been doing well on it for a long while.

I recommended the food to my parents since my dog had been doing well and the food was good quality. They purchased Nutro Ultra (small breed) for their two chihuahuas, both healthy, 1 and 3 years old. Immediately after feeding the Nutro, both dogs vomited. Over the duration of 3 weeks on the Nutro, both dogs have become noticeably more lethargic, frequently vomit, and one now has mucusy, bloody diarrhea, messing in the house where he usually never does. These are both normally highly energetic dogs and haven't been known to have any stomach or health issues prior. After a day of feeding them their old diet, they have already perked up and have kept the food down.

After learning and seeing the effects, I looked into the dog food more thoroughly and found many complaints and reviews of the exact same experiences. My own dog hasn't had symptoms quite as severe, but I'm now concerned that her stomach sensitivity, decreased energy, and now hair loss may be attributed to the Nutro food. I will be switching her off immediately. I will now be keeping up with dog foods every couple months to recheck their quality and researching foods more thoroughly, especially before recommending it. Just be warned, there is something in this food that seems to be making a lot of dogs sick, and potentially killing them. Always research and keep up with your dog's food, especially if anything seems off.

BEYOND ANNOYED! My name is Stephanie and I used to work for your company years ago as a food demo'er. I am now a LVT (licensed vet tech) and have seen what you have done to people's pets first hand. I was your #1 supporter and would try to convert any and every pet owner I knew to switch to your food. I was recently advised that your ingredients had changed in all of your diets and now chicken is your #1 ingredient in all of the food. WHY ON EARTH would you do this and not tell your customers that you made that change? People bought lamb and rice because it was lamb and rice and lamb (lamb meal) was the first ingredient. This was the food that you based all of your posters and literature off of and your #1 seller, I know I use to work in the pet stores as well. Now chicken and chicken fat come before the actual meat you have listed as the foods 'flavor".

Any time we had a animal come in with a possible allergy issue we would instantly tell them to switch to your lamb and rice because we knew the ingredients that were in it and knew that 90% of the time it would take care of any issue. This is because 90% of dogs and cats with food allergies are allergic to CHICKEN AND BEEF!!! I was appalled to see all the bad reviews in the last few months on your page and can't believe that your company has not bothered to mention anything to anyone yet that the change happened and what you are planning on doing about it. You are making dogs/cats sick and the only reason it's not news is that it's not from something like salmonella, or high metal content.

I use to trust this company with my life and the life of my pets. I would stand up to anyone that would try to say they had a better food than yours and NOW I CAN'T TRUST YOU EITHER! At this point you have lost one of your biggest supporters and I will be pulling both my dog and cat off of your food. I will also be doing the same for my sister's animals and anyone that I come in contact with will know what you have done and can make the choice themselves. I am just beyond disturbed that a company that had the reputation that you did wouldn't have thought about the consequences of what you just did.

If it were not for this website and the reports that I found here, I would never have known what it was that was making my dog so sick for the past 6 months that I was pretty sure I was losing him. He was so sick that I called the in-home euthanasia vet, asking them to be on standby for me. I have been feeding my dog Nutro Lamb and Rice dry food for the past 12 years. I learned the hard way that he was VERY allergic to any kind of chicken product or anything with ANY kind of fowl, and I have been very careful to make sure that there was NEVER any chicken or other fowl ingredient in ANY food or treat that he ate. Now I have learned that Nutro decided to add CHICKEN to the "Lamb and Rice" formulation - WITHOUT PROVIDING ANY NOTICE TO THE CONSUMER ABOUT THE CHANGE. This is unconscionable. My dog was so sick... not eating... lethargic... and his whole body was covered with sores and his skin was literally falling off his body.

We have seen the vet multiple times over the past 6 months, and he seemed to get better at one point, but I think that was because I had perhaps gotten an older bag of the formulation that did not contain chicken. When he got very sick again, and I found this website and the information about the food, I ran to the bag that I had been using, and found that the second ingredient listed on the bag is now chicken. I was HORRIFIED. I knew immediately that this is what was making my dog so sick, and my poor dog had been dealing with this for almost 6 months. HOW COULD A COMPANY THAT I TRUSTED DO THIS TO ME AND ALL OF THE OTHER DOGS OUT THERE THAT ARE ALLERGIC TO CHICKEN????

If they had placed a label on the front of the bag to notify the customer of the change, I would NEVER have purchased the food. This is positively unconscionable to me. I CANNOT fathom how any responsible company could do something like this. My dog is still sick, but he is under treatment with my vet. I am hoping he will recover, but I do not know if he will. This has taken such a toll on his health, and on me. I am furious with Nutro and I am still trying to figure out what further action I can take to try and save other dogs from the problems that my poor dog has gone through. This has shaken my faith in the dog food industry.

Something has definitely changed in the past 2 months. She stopped wanting to eat, became lethargic so much so that she didn't want to go on walks, and started experiencing foamy vomiting and diarrhea with blood in her stools. I noticed the air tight sealed bin that I store it in had bugs in it suddenly. PetSmart refunded me the food and said it was most likely a bad batch. I purchased the product again with full assumption that that was the case. Things seemed to get better for a week, but sure enough we were right back where we were by week 2.

Ironically I've just discovered these bugs again but they've spread to the floor. Every homeowners worst nightmare! Exterminator said they are grain mites that likely were brought in from the dog food or its packaging. They're cream colored, very hard to spot as they are the size of a grain of salt. Not sure if this is the cause or if it's a change in formula, but ironically our PetSmart had all recipes from the brand pulled from the shelves when I went in to purchase her Blue Buffalo. Hard to believe it's coincidental. Truly won't be shocked if they issue a recall soon, but either way I will never go back. Our dog's issues resolved immediately after switching to Blue Buffalo.

We took him to the vet and they gave us probiotics to put on his food and a prescription.

He quickly started feeling better so we figured he just had a tummy bug. Fast forward about 2 weeks later after he finished the prescription and priobiotics regimen he started having diarrhea and vomiting again. We started to be suspicious of the Nutro food. The vet gave us some more probiotics and a few more of the prescription pills and he started feeling better almost instantly. We switched his food back to that which he had been on since he started eating solid food, and we haven’t had any problems since. I did that two days back, then yesterday, and this morning. Came home to a major mess of 6 big puke splotches. I saw carrots in her puke, which I recall she ate on the 8th of May (today is the 10th). It was on the 8th in the evening when I started her on the Nutro. Could it be her body rejected something in the Nutro and wouldn't let it go down into her intestines? I was ready to take her to the vet when I remembered I had just started feeding her this new dog food. I got online and saw many negative reviews about the Nutro Senior Lamb Dog Food and stopped feeding it to her immediately. After one day she seemed like she felt so much better. She was showing signs of liver failure from this dog food but seems to be back to normal now.

I watch carefully about dog food recalls because many pet owners have lost their beloved pets to careless dog manufacturers who standards are sketchy. By all the negative reviews I have just seen this company and factory should be inspected from top to bottom. It sounds like foreign objects are getting into the food along with rat poop and possibly rat poison which causes liver failure. I just hope feeding this to her for 3 weeks hasn't left physical damage to her liver and overall health. I am very upset I trusted this brand and company thinking I was feeding my little girl healthy dog food only to have it make her very ill. If you love your dog stop feeding this crap. I'm not usually one to write a review, but my dog recently passed from liver failure and while I was doing a little research to see what could've caused it I came across all of these reviews for the Nutro lamb and rice senior dog food and it sounded all too familiar. My dog has always been on Nutro since he was about one. I thought he had a sensitive stomach, but now I'm not so sure if it was him or the food, so I would have to switch his food every so often but always stayed with the Nutro brand because it came highly recommended from his obedience trainer.

As soon as he turned 7 I switched him to the lamb and rice senior because the vet said he might benefit from the senior food since it's easier to digest. I never really had a problem until just recently and it started the same as most of the other reviews on here did. He stopped eating he had very unhealthy stools, he was vomiting. I brought him to the vet and we did blood work that came back with slightly elevated liver enzymes. One week later and he had to be put down. The vet was shocked at how quickly he declined. It very well might not of been the food but I wanted to get my story out there since this is just one more incident of a dog getting very sick and passing on this food! I reached out to Nutro and I haven't heard back from them yet, I just would like the food to be recalled for the safety of all of our dogs! If the new formula is the problem they should let the consumers know.

I have Bought and fed Nutro to my dogs for almost 20 years. I had a Beagle mix by the name of Spencer that was switched to the Nutro for seniors back in 1999 - 2006. Spencer was 11 years old. I had him on Costco food and was told to get him off of it and feed Nutro. Within 1 week there was a dramatic difference. Spencer went from a lethargic old dog to a puppy. Lots of energy, his coat shined and no skin problems. I live in an area where my vet said she was surprised my senior dog had no skin issues. Spencer lived to be 17 years old. The vet was amazed at how long he lived and how healthy he was. I truly believe he lived longer because of Nutro food. So I decided I was not going to feed my dogs anything else.

In 2006 I rescued a Mini Dachshund. His ribs were sticking out and weighed 3 pounds at a year old. The woman told me he did not eat much. I had to hand feed Bosley for 2 weeks before he ate on his own. He was scared to eat out of bowl. I fed him the Nutro Chicken, Brown Rice and Oatmeal Recipe for small dogs. He went from weighing 3 pounds to 8. He is at perfect weight now. He did very well on the food at first. 2 years later Bosley was a Dad to a litter of all girls. I took one of the girls and named her Lily. Both dogs did well on the food until around a few years ago. I did not notice until my groomer started pointing things out.

My dogs' coats were not shiny anymore. Both dogs have developed cysts. Bosley has a huge one under his armpit and multiple others on legs and head. His poos are runny with mucus in it. Lily has one cyst on her head and back. Her skin is black in armpit area, she has itchy paws. She has not been able to keep the food down lately. Throwing up the food all the time. It has gotten worse since Nutro changed their recipe. No notice, just switched it. It is now Chicken, Brown rice and sweet potato (instead of oatmeal). They took some important ingredients out. They swear they have not changed much. But my old bag and new bag tells a different story. I decided to try Nutro Ultra. It’s most expensive and has some good stuff in it. Both dogs got sick. I mixed there old formula 75% to 25% Ultra. I tried the Lamb flavor. They both like the little lamb meals, so I tried the Lamb kibble. Mixed it with old food and both got sick.

Nutro is not a good Dog food anymore. I liked the Nutro company and found that they sold Nutro to a Candy company. Mars Incorporated. What the heck is a candy company making dog food. No wonder my dogs' health is not well anymore. My dogs are doing terrible on Nutro and it does not matter which kind. Nutro is not a cheap dog food. I am so upset over what has happened to Nutro. I was a loyal customer and it used to be a fantastic dog food.

I have been looking for a replacement dog food. Looking for the Best. After months of research I believe I have finally found a dog food. It’s Wellness core raw/rev grain free turkey/chicken formula. Both dogs love the taste and both kept the food down. Lily has not thrown up. Not sure if she picked around the Nutro and just ate the new food. I submitted a photo of the old Nutro small dog food and picture of the new bag. The pink bag is the old food that was good. The Chicken, Brown Rice and Oatmeal that no longer exists. I’m sure it was good until Mars Corp started changing it.

He barely ate and vomited what he did eat. He ate grass outside and vomited that. Alarmed I had fed him & made him a smoothie of ingredients for his stomach. When he kept the smoothie down I added his kibble to it. He puked everything. My cat got into the food and puked the whole kibbles. I’d thought he was dying of old age and this was the process. I’d checked for food recalls and saw nothing. After seeing a huge list on a Facebook post I decided to call Nutro. I gave them info off the bag. Turns out they’d swapped ingredients this year. From Chicken Fat to Chicken meat.

They suggested he may be allergic to chicken, but I’d just bought a chicken can from another brand and he didn’t vomit it. They offered to refund the bag. He’s currently borderline. Drinking but not eating even the canned food. He is older and suffering from it a great deal. This food should be on a recall list. As a family we were braced for the worst and still are. My poor fella is already old, me hand feeding him his kibble piece by piece and making him sick over and over again is awful. Please list a recall on the Large Breed Nutro Lamb and Rice recipe.

We decided to switch to the lamb upon the advice of our vet as our Bear seems to have some allergies and the common issue is often chicken. He had no issues with the food for about two weeks and then BAM, bad diarrhea for two days. Vet ran the usual tests, there were no other symptoms, bland food diet for a week. We were just getting ready to transition back to the Nutro when my husband randomly heard a group of pet owners talking, at a gas station of all places, about the issues their pets were experiencing with Nutro, specifically the lamb version. We did a bit more research and found this and that's all we needed to know, we threw it out - switched to another brand recommended by the pet nutrition center where we live. Fingers crossed. I do plan to contact Nutro.

My 12-year-old and 8-year-old Goldens had been on Nutro lamb and rice many years and it was well tolerated. Switched to senior formula and the 12-year-old began having soft stools Dec/Jan. Wasn't sure if she had gotten extra treats over the holiday season so didn't change the Nutro until she had some blood in her stool. Switched to another brand and the loose stools stopped the next day. Other people at the dog park told me their dogs (not on Nutro) had some loose stools over the winter so I thought I would try the Nutro again. I first added 1/4 of Nutro and 3/4 of the new food, she did ok. Upped it to 1/2 and 1/2 and she did ok. Gave it a try of all Nutro and she had severe diarrhea w/in 12 hours which continued for 5 days despite feeding her only homemade chicken and rice soup. Took her to the vet who checked extensive blood work, fecal tests. No problems.

Had to be the Nutro though the 8-year-old did not have any problems. Called customer service who reported no problems w/ their food. They did send me a voucher to buy another bag of Nutro brand food but I will not feed either of my dogs Nutro now. Was going to donate my 2 full bags of Nutro to the animal rescue but it's not right to endanger other dogs. Would really like to know what ingredient caused the problem so I could avoid that but will have to just avoid all Nutro. Sorry, had been a customer for many years.

We purchased Nutro Max Lamb & Rice a couple of months ago for our lab. He loved the first bag. At the first feeding of the second bag, he acted weird while eating it - he ate really slow and his mouth was foaming (he normally gobbles food up right away). That night, he threw up. He has occasionally thrown up, so we didn't think much of it, but he continued to eat slowly. Two days later, he had a really bad case of diarrhea (he's never had that before). Since the food was the only thing new, we discontinued feeding it to him. I gave him 100% pumpkin and cooked rice for a few days until he was back to normal.

Since we still weren't sure, we purchased another bag of Nutro Max Lamb & Rice, but this time we purchased the Grain Free, thinking that would be better for him. He gobbled that up right away and has been fine ever since. We purchased a new bag of the same yesterday. Immediately upon the first feeding, he acted like something was wrong and ate very slowly and foamed at the mouth. That was last night and he acted the same this morning. This time, we immediately returned the bag to where we purchased it and are going to try a different brand. I cannot trust this company any longer. Upon giving him a different brand, he gobbled it right up, so I know he is feeling fine and it was the Nutro.

I noticed with the last bag that he would throw up immediately after eating Nutro. Could not keep it down after eating at all. Took him to the vet and everything checked out fine. Blood work fine. No pancreatitis. Everything good. Put him on boiled chicken and rice and everything was fine immediately. Tried Nutro again and immediately had same results. Immediately threw up. Switched to a different brand and everything is fine. There is something wrong with this batch or new formula of Nutro and it needs to be pulled from the shelves before more dogs are sickened or killed. I've read numerous reports of dogs having similar issues and some even dying. All recent reports from the last few months. Nutro was great, but, the current batch is bad and should be recalled.

My poor senior golden started having issues at the beginning of 2018. He had an ear infection, followed a few weeks later by a stubborn eye infection. Then he began to have terrible diarrhea, and copious amounts of stool. I was worried his age was catching up to him as he was lethargic and ill. Around February I noticed our puppies stool was runny and bloody. I took fecal samples of both to the Vet, where they analyzed them for parasites since they both had symptoms. Came back negative so I started searching for reasons.

I discovered on this site that Nutro had changed the Lamb and Rice formula. The old formula contained lamb meal, the new formula has replaced the lamb meal with chicken meal!!! My dog is sensitive to chicken, which is the reason for feeding this formula for the past several years in the first place. I immediately switched them both to a new food and within days both of them had normal hard stools. I contacted Nutro and they refunded the purchase price of both my adult formula and puppy formula, but I continue to be furious that they put my dogs through that. They should have brightly colored stickers on the bags indicating a new formula so that dog owners could be aware. An unusual protein such as lamb is usually chosen because of food sensitivity, to replace a major protein without notice is irresponsible and harmful. My trust in this company is broken.

Took him to the vet, round of antibiotics and meds to keep him from throwing up as well as a special can food to feed for 5 days before gradually reintroducing him back to his Nutro. Going well until we, began decreasing special can food and everything started over again. After reading others reviews here, I have called vet and PetSmart. Nutro should bear responsibility for not informing consumers. These are sick pet family members and owners have costly vet bills. Not once did it cross my mind while trying to look at an ingredient label online that I would stumble on to this website. So very glad I did!

I thought maybe it was because of the houseplant and took her to the vet the next morning. I had a diaper on her to get to the vet and when I took it off it was full of blood. There is some intestinal issue going on that has nothing to do with the plant and she still has blood in her stool, she will not eat and is very lethargic and dehydrated. Last night she was still having bloody stool.

We didn't make the link to the food and it went away after a day so we assumed he had a bacteria or virus that passed. A month later it started happening regularly - bright red blood explodes from his butt and he can barely control his bowls. All the tests have come back negative so far, so the vet thinks it's a food-related issue that has now destroyed his insides. Next step is exploratory surgery. Homemade food with antibiotics and probiotics for months has helped, but his stomach is still very sensitive. Would be an awfully large coincidence, seeing as he was on his previous food for years and nothing else significantly changed since then.

Our 14 year old Golden Retriever has been eating Nutro Senior Lamb and Rice Formula and has done great. When they changed the formula and added chicken meal recently, we bought the chicken and sweet potato formula, thinking we didn't like the sound of the new Lamb and Rice Formula. After a couple of weeks on the new food, she started vomiting. Several times each time she ate, until she was vomiting bile and foam. We at first feared this was something serious that would be lead to the rainbow bridge. After 2 days of vomiting, and keeping nothing down, losing energy and acting generally pained to move about, I decided to check to see if there was a recall on the Nutro. I didn't find any recall, but found all of these other reports of similar illness. We tried to change her food, but she wasn't interested in eating much of anything we offered. (Special food for digestive support, goats milk etc.)

We took her to the vet and did blood work. She does have pancreatitis, and is on a prescription to help with her nausea, and allow her to heal. I cooked chicken and rice for her and she's been eating that. Because we did change her formula there is some thought that the change alone caused the problem, but it didn't happen right away, which makes me think it was something in the food that didn't agree with her and over time built up to cause the pancreatitis and digestive problems. The pet store where we had been buying it told us that Walmart would be carrying this food soon, and I fear that Nutro cheapened the formula to allow them to sell it to Walmart. It sure is a coincidence if all of these dogs are sick and it had nothing to do with the food!! Dogs that had eaten this food for years, until recent changes in formulas. Hmmm. I can't say for sure, but I know I'll never buy it again!

We tried the plain pumpkin for few days and probiotic treatments as before when had mild issues but this was not helping as when went back to regular food the diarrhea recurred. During this time my 8yr old Husky Lab mix was doing good but some softer stools noticed than before, she has always been able to eat things the other could not. Yes, Nutro says the Lamb and Rice formula has not changed late in 2017, near time noticed packaging design changes, and now after reading these other reviews I am concerned something changed and not for the good. While he is doing okay now on the Nutro Lamb and Sweet Potato limited ingredient formula makes me wonder how long til this formula gets unknowingly changed... In February 2018, I ordered a bag for the first time from Chewy.com and noticed the packaging was different than what I had been getting at the store. When I fed my dog I also noticed that the kibble was more green in color. My dog ate the food but with less enthusiasm than she usually would. Often, she left food in her bowl for hours which she has never done. It seemed like she didn't like it. Over the next week or so I noticed that she smelled bad and she just seemed like she did not feel very good.

This past week, she vomited shortly after eating a quarter of what I put out for her, along with a large white ball of mucous. I knew then it must be the food making her sick. I switched her food three days ago and already notice improvement. I purchased her new food at my local pet store and I did see that Nutro had changed their packaging and that the store had moved the brand from the front display all the way to the back making it much harder to find. I do not have any old packaging to compare the ingredients but they had to have changed their formula somehow. I will not be buying Nutro ever again.

I have a 4 month put golden retriever that was on this food when he came home to us at 8 weeks. Over the last 4 weeks I have spend hundreds of dollar, time off from work not to mention the physical and emotional exhaustion I’ve through from this horrible food! 4 weeks ago my puppy started suddenly have severe yellow liquid forcefully diarrhea and vomiting constantly, we have had multiple vet visit, X-rays, antibiotics, stool testing, rice diet and lab work sent to the GI Lab on the other side of the country and no answer. I finally decided to switch foods and things started to improve within a day! Then a friend reached out to me telling me about all these people having the same issues, how on earth is this food still available for sale! My poor pup and Family have been through the ringer over this and put us in debt over this! Nutro Max should be paying my vet bills and all the time off I’ve had to take over the crappy food!!!

I took her off the food, and started feeding her rice and chicken I made at home, she was doing well, so I thought I would start feeding her the Nutro again. She eats the canned and dry food version of this food. And today, the bloody stools and her vomiting started again, what is sad, is I still have half a case of the canned, a full new bag of the dry. I will continue to make her food with rice and chicken, and will decide what to do with the rest of the food. I think I will try and get my money back, Nutro should offer it back after this review, but, we will see.

I feel both my Labrador retrievers Nutro Wholesome Essentials Large Breed Adult Pasture Fed Lamb & Rice Recipe and they have been on it for at least 9 months, and have been loving it. I switched from Ideal Balance chicken brown rice formula (no corn, wheat, or soy) food because their poops weren't hard enough. On Nutro, their poops have great consistency and have been much more firm. I attributed this to the increased amount of protein. However, I'm concerned reading other dogs reactions to Nutro products... what type of Nutro were you all specifically feeding them? My dogs eat the non-GMO, lamb kind, and I don't believe it has corn or wheat. I also feed them Nutro sensitive stomach treats and those are some of the only treats that have not messed up their stool consistency. Two downsides are: I have to feel slightly more food than with the previous type of food. It has also caused their breath to be pretty bad!

Quite simply, what I don't like about Nutro is this statement "Made With World Class Ingredients"! I didn't notice this until it arrived after buying online. What exactly does that mean? Answer: It could mean what you want it to. Is it made with ingredients from others countries? Nowhere could I find "Made in USA" which I believe a consumer like myself wants especially after paying a stiff premium for the dog food. I don't have time to call Mars up who is the manufacturer who also makes Pedigree and IAM's which is a brand they purchased from Procter & Gamble a few years back. But maybe the Mars company can explain what "Made With World Class Ingredients" actually means. For the price, I would hope the ingredients they use are indeed "world class"! But Mars, where are the Ingredients from?

I use less kibble, 1 1/2 cups twice a day for each of mine which results in smaller sized poops to have to clean up. Nutro has all the stuff you want in their food and none of the stuff you don't want. Cost more than low end dog foods but in the long run because you feed a smaller portion size it probably ends up costing around the same.

At first, I thought maybe he ate something he shouldn't have or had something worse so I took him into the Vet the next morning and they were concerned as well as he is an indoor puppy and is up to date on his shots. They still ran a parvo test which came back negative, did multiple x-rays to determine if he ate something he shouldn't have, and finally did a barium series on him to see if they could get a better look and finally determined he had Gastritis.

His intestines were full of gas which alarmed the vet. After keeping him in observation, and after researching the food, we concluded the Nutro Chicken Food is the reason for his bloody stool as well as skin problem. This food is NOT GOOD FOR YOUR PUPPY!!! There is a reason it is so affordable but it actually cost you more once your poor pup is sick. I’ve personally never had any problems, nor my dog. I just don’t see it on sale as much as the other brands and I would like larger package sizes. Overall it’s a great brand and product.

I chose Nutro Dog High Protein-Grain Free Food because my dog seems to really like this brand. The options offered are also one of a kind which further leads me to love it more. It has surprisingly exceeded my initial expectations which were rather high. I like this because there is no other product like this on the market. It take several hours in one day just to shop around to find this product, so it’s somewhat special. (Not only special for the dog per se.) I still love this product although I hate that this is rare on the market. But it’s always worth the purchase.

Our veterinarian suggested we try Nutro Lite & Weight Management. Formulated to control weight of our Pug who is a senior dog. No artificial flavors, colors preservative, non GMO and low calorie in a lamb and rice formula which has vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and nutrients to keep her healthy. It also gives her fiber and protein which she needs. And we were able to get her weight to an acceptable level. She went from 38 pounds to 30 pounds without starving for food and made our Vet happy. Dog enjoys this food and her digestive tract is healthy.
