What is Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance?

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance offers customizable insurance plans for cats and dogs to help manage veterinary expenses for accidents, illnesses and routine care. It covers a wide range of treatments, including alternative medicine and hereditary conditions, though preexisting conditions are excluded.

The coverage is available in various states across the U.S., with specifics and exclusions varying by location. Customers can manage their policies and file claims through an online portal.

How does Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance work?

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance allows customers to sign up online (or by phone at 844-250-9199) after verifying their pet has been examined by a veterinarian within the last 12 months.

Customers can select from three plan levels starting with accident-only up to accident, illness and wellness coverage. Policies typically have a 14-day waiting period for coverage to begin, except in states like Maine, where illness coverage can start immediately after a comprehensive vet exam.

Claims can be submitted through an online portal, with reimbursements processed in about 10 business days. Customers can choose to receive reimbursements via direct deposit or mailed check.

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance coverage

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance offers coverage for accidents, illnesses and routine wellness care. Its policies include benefits such as exams, medications, surgeries and alternative treatments, including acupuncture and chiropractic care. Add-on packages like wellness coverage provide services such as routine dental cleaning, vaccinations and flea and tick prevention.

Depending on the policy chosen, coverage may extend to hereditary and congenital conditions, providing comprehensive protection for pets. Three types of pet insurance policies are available, so pet owners can select the plan that best meets their pet's needs.

What Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance does not cover

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance doesn't cover certain incidents unless they're specifically mentioned in an add-on to the policy. Generally, it excludes any previous health issues and purposeful or careless actions by the owner. It does not cover pet breeding, pregnancy or birth problems, hip issues, prescription diets, organ transplants, behavioral issues or experimental treatments. Incidents caused by an owner using their pet for work or to break the law aren't covered either.

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance pricing

Liberty Mutual Pet Insurance coverage pricing varies depending on the coverage you select. Accident-only plans have the highest deductible and lowest reimbursement percentage, which results in lower pricing. Higher percentages and lower deductibles raise the price. Age and breed may also play a factor in pricing.

I found out today they cancelled my insurance 6 days ago. NEVER NOTIFIED ME. They claim they sent email. I asked send again. It went to spam. No written notice. I was with them 20 months no claims. Today I was making a claim was informed they canceled me. My bank was replaced and they claim they didn't get payment. No letter delivered so I would have known. Given my payment as one would have called or sent a text or written letter. Nope just dropped suspiciously when I needed. STAY AWAY.
