My perfectly Helathy Cairn terrier died of acute renal failure due to poisoning. She was always by my side and ate only IAMS dry dog food. there are several complaints about this food.

I am busy compiling all my facts and receipts and evidence for compensation from Menu Foods ... My cat Maggie was affected by Menu Foods through Iams, Science Diet, Eukanuba food. She began her quest for water about 2 weeks ago maybe more and I became quite alarmed when I noticed she could never seem to get enough water (the cute factor wore off when she wanted water from the tub and sink 24/7 not to mention she has 2 water bowls in the house ... when I realized there was far too much urine for 1 cat in the litter box. I called my vet and was told to bring her up there that evening 3/27 for blood to be drawn and evaluated by an outside lab.

My beloved cat Winston was diagnosed with acute renal failure in December after we took him to the vet for thirst, weight loss and lethargy. he spent 5 days in the veterinary hospital on IVF. After we took him home, we administered sub-Q injections every night for 3 weeks until he could take no more and we put him to sleep. He suffered so much. I fed Winston Iams ocean fish in sauce, Stop and Shop companion and fancy feast turkey, beef and chicken in gravy. I thought I was feeding my sweet loving cat, nutritious foods that he liked; I was instead, poisoning my baby with products sold by manufacturers whom I trusted.

My border collie mix was desperately ill after eating IAMS Select Bites foil pouches for cats. She loved cat food but was not allowed to have it. I gave the cat the food but he refused to eat it so I gave it to the dog as a treat she never gets. The following day I tried the food again with the cat but again he would not eat it so again I gave it to the dog. I had no idea that I thought the food was a treat for my dog was actually poison. She became very listless, and was very very ill. We took her to the vet and he stated that she was in severe kidney failure. He gave her some medicine but nothing seems to help. She was dying.

A very healty and vibrant 9 year old shelty went from active and lovingly barky to silent. He stopped eating, could not jump up to his rocking chair, was uninterested even in Cheeze-Whiz . . . a favored at-a-boy treat and pill delivery system for years, and generally lost interest in life. He was fed twice out of Iams canned foods: approx March 16 and March 18, 2007. chicken & gravy, beef and gravey! We have consulted with a veterinarian Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week. This afternoon his heart rate exceeded 240 bpm. What is happening? We are rapidly loosing a huge part of our lives.

I have a dog named Rusty. I have always fed him IAMS Dog Food. Rusty is 7 years old, Golden retriever mixed that has been in perfect health. All of the sudden 2 weeks ago he became very ill. I took him to a dog emergency clinic and spend over 300.00 dollars to find out that he has developed kigney and liver problems. He has been in medication since that cost for medication is very expensive. This week Rusty is back at the vet and has been there and will not be able to go home (hopefully) until April 2nd- next week. I can only imagine what the cost is going to be this time. He is not doing too well. I am sick and suffering terribly for poisoning my loved dog with his food, feeding IAMS.

I started feeding my dog, Freddie, Iams Select Bites (foil pouch) on 7 Mar 07. On 20 Mar 07, I had to put him to sleep because of severe kidney failure. The bar codes matched the recalled food. Why did it take so long to come forward with the recall and information?

My cat has always been a bit on the small side and I usually only feed him Iams Dry Senior food.. I get him wet food only once in a while as a treat.. I had bought a couple of 12 packs of the Iams Wet food pouches (the orange containers) food in December or January and just fed him one a day for about 2 or 3 weeks... because he had been on the skinny side and I was trying to fatten him up.... I didn't notice him drinking any more water.. but I did start to notice him looking skinnier and he was starting to vomit ever few days..

I don't know if this is related, but now I wonder... I had two cats, one 16, one 7 years old. I have fed them IAMS Dry Weight Control Formula for many years. In June of 2006, the 16 year old suddenly decided to kill the 7 year old. She had been losing weight, but I just figured this was normal aging. (Mind you, they had been in the same house since the young one was 8 weeks old.) I took her to the vet, they declared hyperthyroid condition. At her age and condition, I decided to let nature take its course until euthanasia was her best option. In December, the time came, she started not being able to eat without throwing up. 12/28 I had to put her to sleep, one of the harder things I have ever had to experience in life. Now I fear for my older cat...but with such a gigantic list of potentially poisoned foods, what do I feed him? What if the damage is done?

I purchased the dog food on recall and was feeding it to my 8 month old wolf/sheppard when he suddenly became ill on christmas day. He was in convulsions and could not walk. The night before he was running and playing on video camera, then christmas morning after he had his breakfeast he had a seizure and could not stand up at all.  We rushed him to a vet who didnt know what happened. He saw 4 specialists and he still does not have full use of his one hind leg -- it drags and is raw and sore from this. This is a 8 month old puppy that was checked by a vet when we first got him and got a perfect physical!!

My dog, in January, became very ill. He was taken to the vet and treated. This treatment did not work. We took him back, he just got sicker. Finally we had the animal put to sleep. At the time no one knew what the problem was; the dog was only four years old and in good condition. But I think now it was the dog food. We fed him the beef and gravy style of Iams can dog food.

Family dog accidentally ate IAMS tainted cat food. Vet cannot determine outcome of dog. Dog will not eat, drink, or walk. Mixed boarder collie was a very active family pet and is now almost dead. Company knew of tainted food well before it was made public.

My cat Lily was put to sleep following a sudden onset of renal failure. She had gone rapidly down hill over the course of two days starting on March 11th. The vet put her on dialysis for four days, and when he retested her blood, her toxicity levels were still off the chart. We both decided that her time had come, and put her to sleep on March 16th. At that time, neither of us had heard about the recall.
