I bought a 6 lb roll that wasn't good and was told they would send me coupons. I buy 5 big 6 lb rolls a week which is about $85 a week. I am a senior on social security and it isn't easy. I have done this for a couple of years. A loyal customer. You send me three $1 coupons. Wow. That really helped. Unbelievable.

I had contacted customer service about the last few rolls I had bought were very soft and watery. They thought maybe they had got frozen in transport. I was provided with some coupons for further purchases. I am very happy with the response I received. My dog loved the Beef and Bison. She just turned 16 and she is doing very well.

Riley eats the Freshpet Homestyle Creations Fresh Beef, Chicken & Turkey Recipe Dog Food and loves it. We had trouble getting him to eat for years (he’s 9 now) until we tried FP and he loves it. He can hardly walk til we put it down. We had a problem once that WAS NOT the fault of FP, but they totally stood behind their product.

For me, I have two small dogs and they weren't real crazy about the taste and even for them Latino as small as they are, I just cannot afford the cost of this food for my dogs. So basically you're not able to accept this feedback that I'm taking the time to do, because I didn't put "enough" words in the description?

I receive coupons from Freshpet which help me care for my 6 pound senior girl. I appreciate any and all help. She loves the small bits which make it easier to chew with fewer teeth. There is never any mess to clean or food left behind. Freshpet makes mealtime easy for both of us.

Would you please bring back the apple treats? I don't know why they were discontinued perhaps it was the cost. My pup loved them and he can be finicky! He was eating the chicken treats but will now only eat the bacon treats. I have my fingers crossed! Thank you for your time and consideration!

I don’t know how many times my husband wanted to buy Fresh Pet, we have seven dogs that we rescued. We want nothing but the best for them because they’re just like our family. Unfortunately, to feed one dog fresh pet would cost a fortune. And it wouldn’t be fair to leave the others without. I don’t know if he ever ordered it. I think he did at least one time, but it nearly broke our bank. It’s too expensive, I agree. It’s probably one of the healthiest foods out there, but my dogs deserve to eat well and I just can’t afford Fresh Pet.
I’m sure there’s many other people that can’t afford it either unfortunately. So if you could make it more affordable or the package is big enough to where you can buy it in Quantity, and make it a little less if people buy more that would be very helpful but otherwise I wish we could have enough to feed seven dogs. One of my dogs is on its way out. It’s really old can’t see and it’s deaf. But I wish my dogs could have fresh pet. Once you make something available to the public, I hope that you can make it affordable so the people can buy it.

I have used both the chicken and beef rolls and my dogs love it. They never leave anything in the bowl. I’ve referred friends and family to give it a try with great success. It’s much more cost effective than any other fresh dog food out there with a great reputation.

Our dog truly loves this food. We added it to his kibble. Reduce his kibble and added this on top once or twice a day he loves it. It doesn’t matter which variety we choose. He loves them all but right now we had to stop using it because we’re doing an elimination diet to see what exactly raised his cholesterol by 200 points, the Fresh Pet the only thing we changed.

Been feeding Freshpet to my Dog for three years. The formula seems to have changed in the bags we get. The chunk size vary from large to pebbles and the color of the meat is often gray and not the lighter chicken color before. The main issue is that that the bag states it will last 7 days after opening but even after tight resealing and lock and lock storage it begins to take on a foul odor after 4-5 days.

The product appeared freezer burnt upon arrival, had the food been isolated from the Dry Ice this would not have occured, the ice was in direct contact with the product bag, where as if the product had been inside a make shift box and the ice placed around it the product would have been cool enough. Now I will not use the food due to its appearance. It is off color, and a bag I did thaw and open had an off smell. Will have to rely on stores, but anymore the price is too high, Freshpet needs to offer more coupons.

My pugs enjoyed both the Chicken and Salmon Rolls as toppers over their kibble, but I found Freshpet, especially the salmon, hard to get at times, and that made it not a good, reliable option for us. I was told there were production issues at a plant. It happened more than once. I also worried about it really staying nice and fresh as some of the retailers I shopped at/ordered from I would find the door of the refrigerator unit ajar or delivery was unreliable also. I worried it was or would get spoiled. I also felt the company should have offer more discount coupons or rewards to regular customers. It is kind of expensive to use on a daily basis.

I tried Freshpet with my dog; an 8 year old American Pit Bull Terrier/Staffy mix; about 65 lbs. She is a finicky eater but she ate this fine. I gave it to her for 3 days as a topper on her regular food (increasing gradually to about 1 cup of Freshpet on the 3rd day). Unfortunately, from the very first day, she vomited within less than an hour. I didn’t stop after one day as I wanted to be sure it wasn’t a coincidence or just reacting to a new food. But after the 3rd time, I threw the rest away. Also, the next time she went to the vet, I mentioned what had happened. The vet said that they have had many other dogs come in with similar reactions to freshpet and other commercially prepared “real” foods. So, we’ve gone back to her mixture of kibble and wet food (brand recommended by her vet).

I have a 15 year-old little Shih Tzu that is missing several teeth so I decided to incorporate a healthy soft food in her diet. I purchased a 3 pound bag of fresh pet and gave her half a cup a day mixed with a little bit of dry food. Unfortunately, after about 14 days, I noticed a weird smell in the bag. I reached out to fresh Pet and I was advised that it is recommended that the product be used in seven days. While their bag has a satisfaction guarantee printed on that said if for any reason you have a concern or there is a weird odor to contact them.
I wasn’t looking for a refund, I was looking for maybe a discounted coupon to use to purchase another bag since I had half of it remaining. I was told by the agent that they would not give me a coupon as it’s clearly stated on the bag that the product must be used within seven days of opening. My bad for not reading all of the small print… But I wasn’t asking for money back I was simply asking for a 20% off coupon to go get another bag. I will not purchase this product again and as a first time buyer, I was very unhappy with their customer service.

We’re truly sorry to hear of your continued disappointment. Please know that because our foods are all-natural and made without artificial or chemical preservatives, they can sometimes be at risk for spoilage if exposed to oxygen for a prolonged period of time, much like other fresh groceries. Freshpet fraudulently advertises its did food. In particular their Chunky Beef roll. Nowhere on the package there is no reference to the fact that it has chicken in it. EXCEPT in the microprint on the package. On their website they state that it contains BEEF and carrots. In reading their question and and answers several people have asked about the percentage of chicken and Freshpet will not give an answer, only a runaround to several other sites. This is a serious problem as my dog and thousands of other dogs are allergic to chicken.
Hi Kenneth, our Freshpet recipes are crafted with chicken as the primary protein. However, our chunky beef recipes also meet the labeling standards set by the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), with beef as the first ingredient. We do offer a variety of chicken-free recipes under our other brands. This includes our Vital Beef and Bison Roll and our Vital Turkey Roll. Years ago, when Fresh Pet first came out, I had 2 rescued Bernese Mountain Dogs. I began buying the large rolls in different flavors, only to find that the spoilage rate was too high when compared to overall value and health benefit. When you have 2 giant breed dogs and the food starts to spoil after 4 servings, it puts you in a bind when its time for feeding.
As a pet owner, I need reliable food!! The main issue with these rolls is that there is no way to re-seal them after you’ve opened and served the first few portions of the roll… and they are not cheap!! I would call the company, and repeatedly spoke with “Barbara” who was always kind enough to provide a refund to me for spoiled products (after providing purchase information and data from the rolls) as well as coupons in the event I wanted to give them another try. Years later, the company launched a more “chopped” variety that came in a zip lock bag. This was a little easier to get your money’s worth, but again, when you are feeding giant breeds, it’s going to take many bags to get through a week, and there was spoilage here as well. It was rare that I got through 2 bags without having spoiled food. I stopped buying fresh pet at this point, and expressed my displeasure.
After a few years without a dog, I recently adopted a 5 yo 40 lb dog from a local rescue who came to me after he was found running the streets somewhere in Alabama and testing positive for heartworm. It was many months of treatment and lots of ups and downs with his appetite as well as his gut. I began cooking for him myself and things started to improve. I did have concerns about making sure that he was getting all of the nutrition he needed, so after a few months, I decided to try Fresh Pet one more time. I was thinking that they had likely improved their products over the years since I last purchased the food. This time, we tried the “Sensitive Stomach and Skin” roll and 2 other bag varieties. I also tried the “grilled chicken pieces” which he didn’t like at all. My dog would eat the FP one day and then wouldn’t touch it the next.
Again, I called the company, but could not speak with a live person. Instead, I was expected to leave a message for them to get back to me. Several days later, I received a voicemail message from an OUS (outside US) representative telling me that I would be getting coupons in my email. No live conversation, no refund, no questions, or suggestions, just coupons. I was unhappy with the way this was handled, so I called a number I had in an old Fresh Pet file. I was able to speak with a woman who asked me to provide product information and they would respond to me through email. Once again, they reiterated no refunds and insisted on sending me coupons.
What kind of a company dismisses customers in this manner? They may say they are pet friendly, but I believe they are more about money coming in and less about customer satisfaction. I’m so done with Fresh Pet. Also, when you read reviews, please be sure to check the dates of the reviews. I noticed a lot of positive reviews from years ago, but didn’t see many recent reviews that were glowing!! Buyers beware!!

For the most part, my 40 pound Australian Labradoodle enjoys having a little bit of Freshpet log food cut up into bite-size pieces and mixed into his kibble. The problem is over the past three years I typically throw away 25 to 50% of the log because it goes bad with that white slime. A large 6 pound log cost about 21 bucks and a small 3 pound log cost about $14. It would be great if they could bring the price down to about 11 bucks for the 3 pound log. My guess is I’ve thrown away over a dozen 6 pound logs over a three year period due to spoilage.

After the first day I got to worrying. So I made her up some oatmeal with chicken, and she ate it up. No problem. So I got online to see if anybody else has had any problems with Freshpet. People's dogs have had seizures, and died after eating this for a prolonged time. And I got to thinking, I fed this to my other dog forever. And he suffered a seizure. And a week later died. So maybe I should be thinking lawyer. And freshpet just had a big salmonella recall. Pets are family, this needs to be stopped. You're dealing with raw foods.

I am heartbroken to share my experience with Freshpet dog food. In July 2024, my beloved dog, Lilly, developed severe symptoms after eating this food—vomiting, diarrhea, and a lot of blood in her stool. Tragically, she passed away the next day. My second dog, who was five pounds heavier, also experienced the same symptoms but thankfully survived.
At the time, I thought it might have been a bad batch. Recently, I decided to give Freshpet another try and purchased it from Costco for our newly rescued dog. To my horror, my dogs again developed severe diarrhea with blood in their stool. As soon as I stopped feeding them Freshpet, they began recovering. I can’t ignore the pattern here. This food has now made multiple dogs in my household dangerously sick, and I am devastated that I ever gave it a second chance. If you love your pets, please think twice before feeding them Freshpet. I have stopped buying Fresh Pet and will never go back to it. I fed it to my cats for about 2 years, but 2 critical things have changed my mind about this stuff:
1) I used both the log form and the bagged pellet form. About a month ago my cats starting eating less of it. Then I started noticing mold in the bagged pellets (still well before their expiry date). At first I wondered if my fridge wasn't working properly. Then I went to the grocery store where I buy it and all of the bagged pellets in the Fresh Pet fridge had mold all through them! I tried to contact the company online, but they use this useless AI robot and nobody ever gets back to you. (Strike 2 for terrible customer service.)
2) Then one of 2 our cats started acting VERY aggressively towards our other cat. He used to be a meanie on occasion, but this time he was attacking her repeatedly such that we had to keep them in separate rooms when we weren't home to break up the fights. The attacks felt constant - we would break it up and he would be back attacking her 5 or 10 minutes later. It was heart-breaking, but had to start talking about rehoming him. It was at this point that I discovered the mold and switched them to a raw freeze dried food. The meanie cat was so excited and started eating more than usual. And the amazing thing is that he IMMEDIATELY stopped attacking her. It was like a switch flipped. I can't say for sure what exactly that food was doing to him, but I can tell you that I'm thrilled to have my sweet boy back and to know he's now healthy and they are both much happier.

Neither the food or treats were past expiration date. My dog had serious diarrhea and was vomitting. We love the food as it has helped us solve our cat's allergy issue. He used to cough every night no matter what food we used. By working with the Vet, we figured it was some allergy from a preservative. (Hard to narrow down). My one issue with Freshpet is that it's incredibly hard to find the cat food in stock at stores. We end up going to the only 3 or 4 stores in our area that usually have it and often times they are out. Tons of dog food, but we rarely any cat food. Idk if it's a supplier issue or store issue, but please figure it out. In December, we couldn't find any, so we had to use another "natural" brand and his cough came back.

The good news is that our dog likes your food. The bad news is that she has gotten sick twice now after eating it. I fed her Freshpet mixed with Pro Plan kibble at 5pm on 1/5/2024. This morning (1/6/2024) she threw up at least 10 times with blood, and she is lethargic and cold. We called our vet and we were told no more food today and to observe her, if vomiting continues then bring her to emergency, and tomorrow start a chicken/rice diet. Her abdomen is sore and she is uncomfortable. During our in-home investigation I smelled the Fresh Pet and it was sour smelling, just 6 days after opening. No other conditions with her environment or feeding routine has changed.
The first time she got sick (about 2 months ago) was partially my fault because I didn't know it had to be consumed within 7 days of opening. Since then, I write the open date on the bag and make sure to use or discard by 7 days. I like the concept of your food, but it appears that keeping it fresh and bacteria free is an issue. I store the Fresh Pet in the fridge and take it out for just a few minutes to feed and then immediately back in the fridge. The food is Home Cooked Chicken Recipe, Shredded.

Hi Donna, all Freshpet recipes come with a Sell by Date. You can safely store the recipe in your refrigerator unopened until that date. While our recipes are made to be served fresh from the fridge, you can feel free to freeze any unused portions upon opening. Keep in mind texture and moisture levels may vary after freezing, but this will not change the nutritional value of the food. For any unopened recipes, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator until the sell by date stamped on the package. Hope this helps!-Angie

I’m absolutely in love with Freshpet! I have an elderly small dog (toy yorkie) and she’s lost a few teeth over the years and her stomach gets weaker and weaker as the years go on! However, freshpet has proven to be a great solution for her. It’s fresh and has organic ingredients so I know it will do well on her tummy, and nothing is processed as far as I know. I will usually buy a few small bags in bulk (2-4 bags) as she goes through about a bag every 6 days and the rest I will freeze immediately. The only issue is that I usually check for rotten food when I get home and I have come across quite a few bad batches of food, which is awful because FreshPet isn’t the most affordable brand. You can usually tell if the food is fresh by the color. If it’s white and pale, it’s most likely bad and rotten. If it’s deep pink/reddish, it’s most likely fresh and great to eat. I remember going to the store and the entire refrigerator was full of food that was white or pale.
Otherwise, it’s a great product for my pooch. She loves it and I love it. She digests it so well and I was genuinely surprised how much fiber is included, which is what I was nervous about too. I know dogs shouldn’t have a full diet of wet food, but I love that FreshPet still has their food in kibbles and it’s still enough fiber for her. She loves it warm, cold, mixed with dry food, wet food (pate), and it mixes easily with pumpkin or sweet potato purée if she needs it. She LOVES the chicken flavor, isn’t much of a fan of the beef flavor, but she hates the carrots in the chicken and will eat around it, which is so funny to me!

He was on a very expensive diet food both wet and dry and never really lost weight with regular exercise. He has definitely lost some weight with your food. Of course treats are cut back become is eating full meals.

I have a super picky dog, he has been picky ever since he was a puppy but he has gotten pickier over the years and for a while I struggled to get him to finish his food or eat at all. I decided to look into giving him fresh food since he always seemed to enjoy eating real chicken rather than kibbles. I decided to try Freshpet because it is fairly easy to find and not too expensive and my dog loves it. He has been eating all of his food now.

We have purchased FreshPet at our local grocery. We use the tubes of chicken/salmon and so far all of our cats have tolerated it well and seem to like eating it. Even our cat who needs special wet food due to GI issues seems to tolerate having a bit of the FreshPet mixed into his regular food.

We love FreshPet dog food (we buy the beef roll) because our dogs LOVE eating it. The only negative might be the price is a little too high. We usually buy it from Walmart and even there it is a little too pricey. Thank you very much for the opportunity to provide our opinion.

I purchase the pate at my local grocery. All 3 cats love it and I can feel so good feeding them something that is good for them! I love the convenience of the roll to slice off what you need. I highly recommend this and wish more stores would stock the cat food pate version.

My dog has allergies and is very picky about eating. Your rolls are one of the few things she'll eat (especially Most of all), I like that I can purchase it at my local Giant Eagles while shopping for my groceries. Since starting FreshPet, my dog has had great BMs. She use to have loose stools and a lot of gas.

Very easy to use. My dogs like the taste and we mix with kibble and heat it. They gobble it all up! Easy to store in frig and ready to serve. Sometimes we get the dinner rather than the roll. Good price as well. Would like to see different flavors.

My pup likes the food types that I have tried. She sometimes gets picky about the nugget varieties. I haven’t seen a fish based product yet and that is the type of meat I want to feed her. My dogs seem to be sensitive to chicken. I might have to try different brands that are fish based.

I love Freshpet and so do my cats. It's perfect for my boy with a sensitive tummy. However it can be difficult to find in the stores and every store is a different price point, so sometimes I have to decide if it's worth it to go to the other store further away but right now every penny counts so....I do what I must. If it was more available and better priced then it would be five stars in my opinion.

My dog loves the Freshpet. I do find it hard to store the big loafs once opened. My cats both liked it for the first month, then got bored with it. But that's just how they are. I will try again with them in the future. I do have a problem with Petco running out of the bagged products, because that is easier to use and store than loafs for both cats and dogs.

Both of my dogs absolutely love it but I would really love it if the salt content was lower, or if there was a lower sodium option. Both of my dogs drink a lot more water when they eat Freshpet and one of my dogs has kidney issues so lower sodium would be great. Thank you very much!

I asked my vet what he thought about a competitive brand and he firmly said he didn't recommend it for 2 reasons - The first being that they underestimate the amount of calories your dog needs, and he had seen many dogs on it coming in underweight. The second was that it's grain free, and grain free diets for dogs have been linked to heart disease. He then said he does recommend grain based Freshpet as an alternative. I supplement my dog's kibble with this, so I weigh out the amount she needs and use it as a topper. She was getting very bored of her kibble alone, but she's now back to be being very excited at meal times with this. It doesn't have a bad dog food odor to it at all, and you can see the vegetables and rice. Pricewise it's also way below the competition, and I'm relieved I don't have to rely on shipping because it's available in multiple stores around me.

I added water and chicken broth and our pet would not eat it. The consistency was very different and she would not eat it. It may have been because she is used to eating homemade dog food. I did hear that we are supposed to get a refund if the pet would not eat it but have not heard anything back from the company as of yet.

Hi! I recently purchased a fresh pet roll from PETSMART and picked it up yesterday. The fresh pet roll was very musty and had a terrible smell. My dog immediately threw up after eating it. I had thought maybe it just smells weird but after my dog threw up I investigated more and noticed the terrible smell.

I was sent electronic coupons to replace a bad batch of food. But no stores would accept the coupons. I never heard back from Freshpet regarding the issue. Stores said the coupons can not be used as they are printed and not official. I showed the email from Freshpet and they still would not accept the coupon. At almost $30 a bag of food it’s a little disappointing.

Purchase where available as it sells out quickly. Mostly at Hannafords if they are out, anywhere I can find it. My 2 small dogs love it! The stores need to keep the refrigerator full! Sister in law in Connecticut recommended it to us. It agrees with both of them. One has a tricky stomach. I'm so glad we were able to find it. They come to me when it's time to eat, wolf it in seconds, always look for more!

I did a lot of research before settling on a food for my dog. Price and taste (she loves it) was a winner for me. I can't afford to feed raw, and freshpet sometimes hurts my wallet. But my dog is happy, and full, her coat shines, she has tons of energy, she's healthy. And I know it's because of the food.

My pet loves it and it keeps his belly from getting upset. The vegetables keep him healthy, and the freshness is always there. He loves Freshpet and eats it right up. Amazing compared to other dog foods. Keeps his bowel movements and keeps him from Diarrhea. Know it's his as soon as you take it out of the refrigerator.

I am very happy with the food itself however, I am not happy with the cost. I am a senior citizen and the reason I ordered pet food from you was because my Siamese (male) cat has asthma and my vet said to put him on grain-free food. However, the cost is prohibitive for me. The product is wonderful and he loves it but I just cannot afford it.

My dog likes your food so much she almost hyperventilates as she's eating because she's eating so fast and she doesn't breathe. So we have to back the bowl away from her. I just wish there were more options available. So chicken with different ingredients and cranberry, Etc. The bags were bought at grocery stores. Love the convenience and ease of feeding.

I love this dog food it is smaller pellets. It has a smell that is fresh and not overbearing. My dog absolutely loves it. It is reasonably priced compared to other dog food brands. I also love now that they sell it in my closest grocery store. They also sell smaller bags and a variety of flavors. Also have shredded for larger dogs. I would recommend this to anyone.

I have three small dogs and they just love the product and are always waiting for us to feed them. My puppy has been enjoying this since we adopted him, the others are late to the party. I wish we would have tried Freshpet sooner.

I have a 2 year old mini Goldendoodle named Sebastian and he loves his Freshpet. Sebastian is a working service dog so it is super important to me that he eats whole, nutritious food. He's tried kibble but refuses to eat it which was super worrying for me as a dog mom. Freshpet gives me the peace of mind that he is getting the balanced diet he needs to work and play and most importantly, he loves it!

I buy at Walmart and I have a 12 year old very picky eater. I bought different kinds for him to try. He loves the chicken blend. Is not crazy about the beef or braised chicken. Do wish they offered samples. As it is kind of expensive to try and your pet not like. Overall best move I made for my furbaby. Would love to receive coupons. Overall a great product.
