Same story 10 yrs down the road. Pit Aussie mix pup 7 months old been on Alpo 3 days and has had 4 seizures today and has nearly shit himself to death. None of the other dogs are it the 1st night...none did except Jasper. 2nd morning Homer and Gomer (little mates) ate some and both are throwing up and shitting themselves to the point of dangerous dehydration. Special place in hell for Alpo dog food producers. Stay away from it if you like your dog.

I just got a new German Shepherd and I plan to feed my dog this food. My mother had a shepherd Doberman mix that lasted from 1976 to 1993. 16 years on Alpo dog food. I highly recommend This food for everyone. It is affordable and I swear on my grave that my mother's dog lasted over 16 years all its life since it was a puppy until it died of old age on just this food. I know I have a German Shepherd and I'm proud to say I'm going to use this food to keep my dog happy and healthy all its life Thank you to the owners of this dog food who produce it. I never forgot and I loved my dog when I grew up all those years ago and miss her very much but I have a new German Shepherd and I'm only feeding it Alpo because I am living proof that my mother's dog lasted 16 years healthy and happy on Alpo dog food. A+ rating from a very happy customer. 😃👍

I received Alpo Snaps Dog Treats as a gift for my dog from a neighbor. I gave them to him for two days and he has been sick with diarrhea for almost a week. Won't barely eat his food and will barely drink. He weighs 100lbs, I cannot imagine what these treats would do to a smaller dog. Please, please take these off the market and consumers - pet owners - stay away from this brand. It is truly poison.

I began feeding Alpo canned Prime Cuts and Chop House to my healthy Chihuahua because he needed soft food for his teeth. Within a month-he had become so ill he died. Vomiting, bloody diarrhea, lethargy. He couldn't even hold down water. He spent 3 days at my vets and he did all he could to save him but it was too late. He said he was poisoned-now mind you I have 3 other dogs and none of them got sick-and none of them ate this food! I am convinced it was this food that killed him. So please-do not ever feed this junk to your animals.

I almost lost my dog because of Alpo Dog Food. I decided to switch up my dog's treats so I bought him some alpo dog treats. Within the next 3 days my dog kept having bloody diarrhea everywhere! He was losing his energy and he started to slow down drastically. I could not figure out what was wrong with him. Then he started having seizures. They started off mild and then got really bad towards the end of the week. I was devastated because I thought my dog was going to die! He got so weak and lethargic. He got so sick so fast that I knew it had to be something I was giving him since he wasn't like this before.

I did research on the dog treats and discovered this page and other pages that shared how harmful this dog food is. I stopped giving Him the dog treats and his seizures stopped 2 days later. I've spent about 500$ taking to him to the vet to help him recover. He's on antibiotics now and he's recovering slowly but that food did a lot of damage to his health! This dog food should be illegal!!!!

My 7 month old pup got really sick a few weeks ago. Didn't know what was wrong with him. He was very lethargic, wasn't moving, sleeping all the time, throwing up, diarhea with slime in it. I took him to the vet, cost me 1500 dollars and we still didn't know what was wrong so the vet put my pup on antibiotics. He was doing great on the antibiotics. He just finished his antibiotics yesterday and that's when I started feeding him his Alpo dry dog food again. About 2 hours after he ate he became very very ill, becoming lethargic just sleeping. He can barely walk now. High high fever. My pup looks like he's dying right now. Now I know it's the dog food causing this! How on earth can you sell dog food that makes puppies sick like this. I need to go back into the vet first thing in the morning. Now that I know it's that alpo dog food causing this and see if I can save my puppy's life! NEVER EVER BUY THIS ALPO DOG FOOD!

Now our 12 year old male is showing the same signs. All we can do is hive IV fluids and pray. Only dog not showing signs yet is our 4 year old female that only took a couple bits then turned away. Never thought it might be the food until I looked more into it. Now right before Christmas our family has lost our loved puppies, scared for our other 2 and can't do anything but pray.. How can they keep selling this when it has been known to kill our family members. Something needs to be done.. And, it needs done, asap. About a week and a half ago my husband's cousin's healthy dog died. She was not sick but she died and her owner didn't know why she died, he had no use for the dog food so he gave it to my husband for our healthy German Shepherd. She had been fed this Alpo Prime dog food about two or three cans for a couple day. She had been coughing and had not been her usual self on November 30 then I noticed blood on her chin but thought she had cut it on something so later I checked on her and she had coughed up more blood with phlegm in with the blood.

She was wheezing and coughing but never noticed if she had diarrhea or blood in it. When we went to bed that night she was still alive but early that morning my husband heard her faint bark. She passed away early Sunday morning December 1st... I have cried all day. I knew that is what killed her and my husband's cousin's healthy dog both within a week and a half. My husband thinks someone poisoned her and his cousin's dog. Still not for sure until I was researching and found this site. Why are they still allowed to sell this poison dog food ... Our hearts are hurting.

There is mold inside of the canned Chop House dog food made by Alpo. Our dogs have been ill with a cough that causes them both to regurgitate a foaming substance for a few months. Although they never visited a kennel it is similar to kennel cough although all antibiotics used to treat kennel cough have not been effective. Today I opened a can of Alpo Chop House food only to find a large amount of black furry mold inside. I will be pursuing a claim as my pets have suffered immensely due to the lack of quality provided by Purina with their Alpo Chop House brand. We are now starting a chicken and rice feeding plan in hopes that our dogs health will improve. I suggest no one purchases Chop House for their pets as it is toxic. I will enclose a photo of the mold. Purina acknowledged the mold and we are currently pursuing reimbursement for the veterinary bills paid to treat our dogs as well as sending the can in for analysis.

I tried changing them to Walmart's Ol' Roy brand once when Walmart was out of stock on Alpo Come & Get It! and every one of them got diarrhea from eating the Ol' Roy brand. I used to buy Ol' Roy when it was multi-colored like the Alpo is, but Walmart changed the food to the kind with all medium-brown colored food without telling anyone and it tore their stomachs up! I avoid the solid medium-brown colored dry dog food like the plague!

They never have any issued eating the multi-colored dry food like Alpo Come & Get It! brand so I'm sticking with it. Also, all 4 of my dogs are as healthy as a horse with nice shiny coats and lots of energy. I would highly recommend it to anyone who feeds dry dog food to their dogs and for the price you can't beat the very reasonable price. I pay only $7.64 + tax for a 14 lb bag and can get a 41 lb bag for only $18.98 + tax. You can't beat the price or the value!

We bought a 12 pack of ALPO DOG food during a snowstorm, off eBay for around $9 free shipping. Within a couple days of eating this canned dog food, our dog started coughing, like something was stuck in her throat. For 4 days she would not eat anything else, maybe a few bites of chicken that she also vomited up along with lots of yellow bio. She kept pushing the food away. She could hardly walk on the 3rd night, which we again had a huge snowstorm so getting here anywhere was about impossible. 5:30 am on the fourth day her breathing was so heavy and labored within half of hour of me being awake. I had massaged her, her body became stiff as if her organs were shutting down and she went in and out of it a few times then faded off. Before this our dog was healthy, she had a little arthritis in her back legs but showed no signs of death knocking on her door. Our family is devastated.

Started transitioning my 2 yr old Great Dane over to Alpo Prime cuts on January 16... From the Purina ONE True Instincts, sadly couldn't continue to afford that kind with a job transition. Well lo and behold. JANUARY 19th literally out of nowhere. He starts heavily panting, I was trying to comfort him and see what was going on. Then he started salivating, massive amounts, drool was just pouring from his mouth and then he ran to the door fast, let him out and he had very watery stool. This was around 2 pm on Jan 19. It's now 840 am on the 20th.

From 2 pm yesterday he was rushing to the door spinning in circles with very heavy panting and excessive drooling, then looked strained while trying to poo, and watery diarrhea every 30-40 mins until 4 am this morning. I got no sleep, he would whine and flip flop every time he came back inside after one of these episodes. Since his last feeding was around 10 am yesterday he has not had anything. Going to wait till about noon today and he will have rice and chicken broth, and some yogurt. He doesn't seem too dehydrated. He did continue to drink water only until about 6 pm yesterday but has not touched it since.

And he is just sleeping a lot now this morning. Possible vet trip of rice doesn't seem to help and the diarrhea happens again. But NO MORE ALPO for us. I really hope you guys are doing something about this. It's pathetic that all of these reviews with very similar reactions, symptoms and some cases even death, you should be sure to do something about this... Looks like this has gone on way too long. How can I continue to trust Purina now. Why would they even put their name on this. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE FOR YOUR FAMILY PET!

At first she loved the treats but then the second day she seemed to not really want them but she eventually ate them. The third day she didn't want to eat at all. For two days she hasn't wanted to eat. Her tummy started gurgling and she had really bad gas. I thought maybe it was because I switched her treats. Then in the middle of the night last night she was vomiting and had diarrhea that was mucusy and bloody. Then this morning she seemed kind of shaky and dopey.

I had my boyfriend stay with her all day when I went to work because I was so scared for her. She ended up vomiting one more time and had several more diarrhea episodes. Tonight she finally seems to be getting back to herself. She still seems very sleepy but I made her some rice and she ate it right up. I threw out all the treats I bought and will never buy them again. I think I may just start making my own dog treats so I know what's in them. My pup is my life and I feel so horrible knowing that I made her sick by giving her these treats. I will never ever recommend this brand to anyone. I mean just a tiny SPRINKLE of this crap made her DOG sick. I can't imagine if I fed her a bowl full of it. It makes me scared thinking about it reading these reviews, and I'm still not exactly out of the water yet.
