What is TruthFinder?

TruthFinder is a search tool and background check service that lets you find nearly anyone in the U.S. by name, address, phone number or email address.

You can use the service to reconnect with family and friends or to view a person’s criminal history. You can also run a report on yourself if you want to see what information is available about you online. You cannot use the platform to screen employees, domestic workers, tenants or people who provide professional services, including tutors or doctors.

TruthFinder searches millions of public records and social network data across the United States and compiles all the information into one report. The report includes items like:

  • Birth and death records
  • Possible relatives
  • Possible associates, friends, roommates or former romantic partners
  • Detailed location information (current and former addresses)
  • Contact information
  • Education and jobs
  • Social media profiles and dating profiles
  • Assets, including owned properties and driven vehicles

Pulling a report on TruthFinder is anonymous, so no one will be notified when you perform a search or request a report for a particular person. The company has a free mobile app available in the Apple App Store or Google Play so you can make searches on the go.

TruthFinder cost

Requesting and receiving reports on TruthFinder requires a membership.

A one-month plan with TruthFinder costs around $28 per month. This fee lets users request unlimited standard background checks. Members can save money by purchasing a two-month plan for around $46.     I cancelled the account Last month after you billed me, now I was charged again and re-cancelled again last night. The first customer service agent was not helpful and I hung up on him. The second agent was more helpful. Now I hope that the reversal of charges that he said he processed will go through as he said. I believe your service is a scam and will not recommend it to anyone. The information I received was barely more than I already knew and a lot of missing information that should have been easy for you to see, relatives being the worst information you provided. Again, I think you are a scam and will not recommend you to anyone.

      Deception describes TruthFinder. I signed up for a one-time trial that required me to cancel. I canceled through their website only to find out that it did not happen and the billing continued. Talking to a their customer service person they could tell that I never used the service after the single first time.... followed by what I thought was a legitimate cancelation.... and they continued billing me. No reimbursement!

      Don't use this company. Save your money and go elsewhere. You can find everything they offer without paying a dime on the internet. If you don't purchase the year subscription, they charge you an extra $5-$10 for additional information. I was looking for old friends. I found everything they gave me before I got the report. Then charged me more because I looked for additional information. It was three month unlimited nothing just to get more money. I canceled immediately. I couldn't find a friend I was trying to narrow down. I immediately found them on my own.

      Regarding the subscription options, both our monthly and 3-month memberships provide access to the same features — the difference is simply the length of the billing cycle. With the 3-month option, you are billed upfront for all three months at a reduced rate. All of our memberships include unlimited Person and Address searches, meaning you are never charged on a per-report basis.

      The additional charges you noticed were for optional add-on services such as Reverse Phone Lookup or Reverse Email Lookup, which allow you to search by a specific phone number or email address to identify the registered owner of that information. These are always presented as optional and are never automatically applied without your agreement.

      TruthFinder is not the source of the data in our reports — all information is pulled from public records and commercially available data sources, and we can only display what is made available to us. We understand this may not always meet every member's expectations and we are sorry the service was not the right fit for you.

      It’s a bunch of garbage. This website is FULL of incorrect info on people and WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE EVEN one piece of information on anyone’s criminal/traffic records, financial info, etc. I just paid $35 for info that I can find in two seconds online (phone numbers and addresses). AND watch out for the sneaky additional add-ons after you pay and are FINALLY able to see some data. What a BIG waste of time and money! UGH!

      I am renting out a room in my home and wanted to check out some applicants as far as work history and previous dwellings. The second applicant I tried to get a history on, came back with NO financial history, no employent history, and no previous rental history. Odd, why else do people do a background history. Even more odd since the previous applicant I submitted, came back with a long report of many pages loaded with information including every traffic infraction, run in with police, misdemeanor and an assault with a deadly weapon conviction.

      When I inquired why I could get no information on the first person, the company gave me some double talk about different counties allowed or disallowed different information to be included in their reports. Odder still is why one site liststhem as the #2 site for background checks and ConsumerAffairs by way of customer reviews gives them a relatively awful review. I always trust reviews and have chosen wisely based on them.

      I typed in my own phone number which was connected to someone else that I wanted to see info from. It showed me a tiny bit, then took me through several loading screens before ending on a paywall of $35 A MONTH! This whole process took about 30 mins, just to end up with nothing. I KNEW something sketchy was going on, I didn’t know exactly what the reason for all those loading screens was, and I still don’t. Just say there’s a paywall at the beginning! All the other shady apps do! Sad, they have more integrity than this nonsense!

      50th class reunion. Have searched for free 2 yrs. Have all but about 40. Purchased this to help locate last 40 classmates.. What a piece of junk. No different than free searches you use. Don't waste your money on this. You get absolutely nothing more. You search people. It doesn't even show a history they lived in our town???? How stupid is that??? Fraud and false advertising. Better off keep trying using Google. No benefit at all. Every number I called (22 so far) either wrong nunber or disconnected!!

      Simply: Don't advertise free information when the only one giving free information is the searcher. Going through all of those layers and having to give email address only to find you can't get anything unless you pay.
