I asked a simple medical question and was advised by a "doctor" to......drum roll......go to a doctor. Literally...that was the advise. No ** ! I would have been to a doctor but I was waiting for my health insurance to kick in. Paid $35 for probably some random, off the street person to give advise. Don't know the answer? Just tell them to go to a doctor. That's what I get for trying to get a medical question answered online. Jokes on me.

They provided me with advice, which I initially paid for. I didn't follow up on that legal matter, so I have no idea as to the veracity of their advice. I did pay $30 for that service back in March, and then in November and December, they charged me $30 for a membership service. I never signed up for anything of the sort. I called my bank and had them block further charges from JustAnswer and then submitted the two charges for a fraud investigation. I highly recommend, if you do use this shady website, call your bank immediately after and have them blocked for any further charges!

After reading through a great "answer" online I started typing my question. Then decided to look at reviews, which brought me to this site. But when I went back to justanswer.com and tried contacting them through email, it was only through their site - no copy and paste the email, just a couple boxes; your name, your email, and your message. THEY ALREADY HAD MY NAME AND MY EMAIL filled in the correct boxes when I got to the page. HOW DID THEY KNOW THAT INFO???? I never gave it to them or selected to have it filled in for me. Nothing. It was already there as if it was part of their script on the page.

I was surfing on the internet for Epson printer help and this website came up and asked a question. It is deceptive because it seems as I was actually talking to a tech. They asked for a $5 deposit and by the time I entered my debit card, they suddenly said now I owe $21 ($26 total) to answer the question so I just stopped. In my junk mail was the "answer" to my question (it said to take my printer back to where I got it, duh). Then I changed my debit card for the Home Depot fiasco and suddenly I have a $36 membership fee for JustAnswer.com on my new card. Lawyers.com requested that I revise my question because no lawyer responded. After 2 weeks of revising my questions and no response, I was about to give up until..... I tried Justanswer.com. Thank God. The same three questions from above were answered in a two hour time period. In addition, I used the capability of follow up questions with the respective lawyer at no additional charge. My total cost was $36 and I have 2 additional questions at no cost during my 7 day trial period. What is the difference between lawyers.com and Justanswer? Lawyers.com is free.. remember the old cliche, "you get what you pay for". Now I am prepared to go against my ex-wife's attorney in small claims court thanks to justanswer.com... When inquiring about troubleshooting advice on my Olevia TV on Google, a company "just ask.com" appears in the search that specifically indicated an expert Olevia expert technician is available to answer any question in regards to my TV problem. I thought "Wow, they even have an Olevia TV expert available - what a coincidence, especially since Olevia been out of business for a few years". So I proceeded to fill out their application. I quickly found out that there would be a $28 charge of which $5 would be charged to my Visa immediately and the balance would be charged after I received an acceptable answer that would be provided in a presumably fast response time. I would be contacted by either phone or email. So what the hell, it seemed fair enough.

I submitted the request, paid by charge and received email conformation. Well now, I'm in my third day of waiting (business days) and still no response. Hum? I then decided to review my online Visa account and discovered that I was already charged the balance and yet no services received. My first thought "I've been scammed" so I immediately googled this company and wow, I should have researched this sooner.

With the amount and specifics contained in negative reviews, I would have stayed clear of this land mine. Fortunately for me, I contacted Visa and described my situation. Visa cleared the two charges, credited my account and blocked out this company for any future charges. My conclusions; google a quick review search on that company. After analyzing several reviews, determine if the risk is worth it. In this case, there is just too many diversified negative reviews.

After reading the numerous complaints listed, allow me to elaborate on the danger they represent. I asked a medical question of a Urologist to confirm what was told to me by a local physician. My response came from a representative who purported himself to be a board certified OPHTHALMOLOGIST in Chicago. His reply was so riddled with misinformation and grammatical mistakes that he reminded me of a computer help desk representative in India. There was no doubt that this person was not associated with the medical profession to the point of being comical. JustAnswers is giving a format to unqualified individuals to reply to questions they have no training or intellect to answer. I made phone calls to JustAnswers to point out the dangers of allowing non qualified people to be giving answers that could result in real harm to unsuspecting individuals, I was given a phone number to a "more senior" representative who does not answer.

My voice mail has not yet been responded to. These imbeciles are actually allowing people that have no medical training to give medical advice. To me, it's the equivalent to give a child molester a job at a preschool. They are not only a scam, but provide a realistic danger to unsuspecting clients. If you check their BBB complaints you will see a massive listing and incredibly few resolutions. Every watch dog group on the Internet warns against doing any business with them. They are a train wreck about to occur and the engineer is taking a nap! Are they a scam? Bet the ranch. But more than that, they are clearly dangerous. And by the way, after you rate their response as unsatisfactory, that response is immediately made unavailable at their website to minimize their culpability.

Wow I wish I had read these reviews prior to paying $28 for a very amateur response from a treadmill "technician" with over 20 years of experience. I explained my problem in depth, from when the problem started, my troubleshooting: concise and to the point of describing the number of times the LED blinks on the controller board displayed with each attempt to get the treadmill to work. I received a very brief response -- sounds like a magnet missing or perhaps the controller board. I won't use this service again. I had already considered everything this "technician" told me it could be, for free in my head.

I was going to ask a question about my daughter's cat on justanswer.com. I was having trouble getting my answer to submitted, it was just circling. And then it took me to a page that had an offer for a month's worth of questions for what one question would be. They had only asked for a five dollar hold and I noticed that they offered a 30 day offer for all the questions you wanted to asked. Then I remembered a similar situation when I went to ask you question about a year ago or so ago. I have used this service a year prior to last year successfully and it was straightforward.

After the reminder of the last year's scam I quickly clear my fields and closed my browser without advancing to the next page or submitting my payment information. They still managed to bill my credit card intense and this happened to me before but I stopped process. So imagine my surprise when they managed to scam the $5 and $31 out of me. I will never ever visit the site justanswer again. I also realize by other people's accounts that when I got an appraisal of an art piece by a similar website in pounds or euros and see now that is the same company and then I paid for two evaluations they gave me one and I can't even find the website to get my other evaluation. I will never go to a site like it. I will never do anything like this on the Internet ever again. I've learned my lesson.

    Updated review: Oct. 9, 2014

They refunded the subscription fee. I made the point that people who are willing to pay $15-20 for answers are usually pretty stressed out, and facing high stakes we don't trust the anonymous information we could get for free elsewhere. Those same people shouldn't be worrying about whether they have opted-out of a premium subscription they signed up for by accidentally touching the every-time-you-visit-the-site popup (mobile). Especially considering the short trial time...that's right in the time frame where whatever terrible circumstances took them to JustAnswers will take effect.

The customer should just get an email with his answer inline, with a link to where it's been posted publicly. Not follow a link, avoid signing up for more services, then click his way to the answer...it's not a helpful feature and it adds undue stress to people who are already in stressful circumstances.

    Original Review: Sept. 3, 2014

I sought out, paid for, and received answers on this service as advertised. I have no complaints with that aspect of the business. What I have an issue with is the way they funnel you to their premium service, to the point where you have to selectively click and dodge pop-ups to get away from signing up... especially difficult on a mobile device. I inadvertently signed up for "premium" service and was enrolled in a 7 day trial, which I promptly forgot about because I was in and out of vets' offices in the intervening time. This service is $29/mo., and by the time I remembered to cancel it, my card had been charged, and hey, they got me. Most places offer a 30 day trial of their services. Not Just Answers. They are counting on you to forget their unasked-for upgrades.

I contested this and he came back saying "since there were no drinking glasses with it", that's why price is that. Sold the item a week later for $400. I mentioned that I an insurance agent has quite a different view on such items and since an insurance has to pay, there is always a tendency to pay less that real value, whereas an antique expert sees item + price and gives therefore a higher value. We started with a basic component, the latch mechanism, which did not seem to be getting any power. This person said that this was the problem with the washer, and referred me to RepairClinic.com, from whom I purchased the replacement part. It do not help the washer. I was told a history of the company, the year the items were produced and given a price. No problems with payments. I always get quick answers. I have had multiple exchanges on a single item. I send photos for each item and have been asked for more. I have had an excellent experience with them.

When I asked for information on complete procedural actions, the answer I received was the exact answer previously sent to me. I believe there are no "experts" behind this program. There are probably a bunch of people in India or another inexpensive labor providing country who simply look up comparable search terms on a master service or possibly even Google, etc.

My third attempt at getting the information has resulted a complete silence from JustAnswer. I might add that the email they had sent to me following my inquiry indicated that by clicking a simple button I could inform Just Answer of my problems. Needless to say that link does not work. Attempting to copy and paste a long link which was also within the information proved to be useless. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!

Initially I was directed to a website that I should contact for the information I required. I objected, telling them that I could do my own web search without paying them $5 for the privilege. That was days ago. Enquiry to them returned an answer that they could not assist. Now I am informed that they have taken the total $46 and I should again contact them for an answer. Our initial request was urgent and to be honest, I doubt that they can assist. I do not want to deal with them and have asked for money to be refunded. I am waiting to hear from them.

I have read a few negative reviews lately about the above company and wanted to add my experience with them to offset some of the negative remarks that have appeared. I have used them a number of times, although not recently and have never had any issues with them. Many times I am somewhat familiar with the question asked but am trying to get an expanded response to either refresh my memory or to receive new information. All information provided on questions asked have been accurate and knowledgeable. Sometimes questions have to be stated differently in order for the person is able to understand the circumstances behind the question in order to provide the best answer.

I pay a low monthly fee that allows me to ask almost any question without further charge. Unless I ask a question that requires a higher level of expertise, I pay nothing except a tip should I so choose. My last time several months ago when I asked a question the expert has asked for an additional fee for the answer. I have no problem paying the extra amount since their answer requires a professional knowledge such as an attorney or CPA. I get a quick response and can ask additional follow up questions on the subject. Trying pricing the fees that would be charged should one actually pay in a face to face meeting. The one would agree that the amount paid for the website service is indeed an excellent deal.

I will say that when I first used their service up soon after they opened, you donated an amount that you considered fair for the answer to your question. The last time I was there, they seemed to have gone to a suggested fee format, at least on the professional level questions. This seems to be different from the original intent of the website. In any case, the suggested payment has been a small amount than if you had gone to a brick and mortar building to see a professional. The areas in which I have had questions to be answered, I was able to choose the person that appeared to have the expertise for my answer. I can even ask for the same person should I have additional questions in their field so there is the ability to build up a kind of a 'relationship' with the person.

I did have a problem early on about payment but that was primarily my fault and was resolved within a reasonable time frame. Overall, I have been very pleased with the website and the answers obtained therein. I think those who complain about the service excluding any financial issues may have expectations beyond what the site is intended or able to provide. As mentioned earlier, I have not been on the site for maybe six months so cannot speak to how the site is at present, nor can I speak to anything except from my personal experience.

I recently had car difficulties with each of two exact duplicate cars. In addition problems seemed to be piling up. I sought answers to help with dealing with the two vehicles. In other words, there were many questions posed in in December 2014. This amount of questions apparently changes the word "UNLIMITED" to something OTHER than what unlimited means. They cancelled my account WITHOUT ANY NOTICE.

After 4 emails and 4 phone conversations I finally was contacted by a man that said he was where the buck stopped. I asked why my service was not working. He told me I exceeded an "invisible cap" on the dollar value of the questions that I had posed. I never did get a straight answer when I questioned why their advertisements state UNLIMITED. Within a matter of a couple of hours, I changed my mind and sent them an email telling them to cancel membership and not to bill me. I received a confirmation email that they had closed the account. Great, no problem. They asked why I was terminating and I told them that the guy that answered my question appeared not to have even read the question. His answer encouraged me to take a full membership but the answer he gave to my question was bizarre.

This was back in early September. Come to find out they never closed the account and have been billing me for full membership since. I was ticked so I called them and emailed them. They agreed to refund one month and sent me an email saying so. I replied that I wanted it ALL back because I had cancelled within a couple hours. Sure enough... at 4am today, I get an email agreeing to a full refund, an apology because according to them it was very clear I never intended to continue my membership. So, this site isn't as bad as most who do this. I give major props to this JustAnswer for listening and doing the right thing and wanted to post here just to show they aren't all bad.

If you try and call, no one will be available to discuss this problem who is not reading from a very long script. It is not possible to delete your credit card info yourself. The instructions for canceling your subscription on the website are incorrect.

By the way, forget about the "Money Back Guarantee" unless you give the answer you get a very low rating. If you give a satisfactory rating to the "expert," even out of politeness alone, Just Answer takes that to mean you are giving up your right to your money back, no matter how unsatisfied you may be with their company's service or policies overall.

I used the site also. The advice was okay. However, I too (allegedly) signed up for a subscription even though I remember specifically ticking the box that said I didn't want one. It seems that the site defaults to a subscription and many users don't check their statements, particularly PayPal ones, to see what has gone out. It took ages to get the money back. In all honesty, as they are offering unlimited questions for a monthly fee and the expert allegedly gets paid for answering those, it must be relying on slippage, people who ask one question and unwittingly sign up for a subscription; otherwise, the business would be running at a massive loss instead of turning over millions of dollars.

I have looked all over the Internet for advice and the only other site here in the UK is this one www.expertanswers.co.uk which only gives you legal advice. To be honest, I asked a couple of questions and the advice was spot-on. On one of the questions, they had no suitable expert and they emailed me and refunded me without me even asking. Both sites offer 100% satisfaction guarantee but the only one that delivers is Expert Answers. I fail to see how Just Answer can give 100% satisfaction if they don't give refunds, when asked, for weeks! In my opinion, Expert Answers is light years ahead.

I was an expert @ JustAnswer.com, aka Pearl.com, Eanswer.com, Answernest.com, Answerbag.com and a seemingly endless list of satellite sites for 6 years. 1st let me warn everyone regardless, DO NOT use a credit card online EVER! Use a debit card that has a fixed amount deposited and thieves cannot pilfer, skim, flim flam your cash for doing nothing and continue to do so until noticed which usually is months later and will involve the BBB.

Sue. They will refund the customers money every time they go through the BBB and that alone gets any smart con a AAA rating to then use to bait new suckers into the credit card minefield that is JustAnswer. It seems hard to believe a site with over 10,000 experts cannot find the answer to how JustAnswer.com can stop "accidentally"? Selling a subscription to everyone who uses them, I mean how long can they keep blaming the customers for making this mistake? Not 1 adjustment has ever been implemented or even tested out. Think about this, a $50 question asked once pays $25 to the site and $25 to the expert, IF the customer accepts the answer, otherwise JustAnswer keeps it all and begrudgingly refunds those persistent enough to fight for it once the BBB has been involved of course, only then does it behoove them to do so.

Imagine if they could double bill for each question by using a sleazy "rate" & "accept" the experts answer. You just tripled JustAnswer's profit! since the extra $50 is not split ever! with the expert! Add to this windfall, imagine now selling every customer a subscription "accidentally" and then monthly billing that account hoping the $60 a month is unnoticed! This monthly income generated is continuous and all for doing nothing! The top/oldest experts are not real people. They are JA employees parroting archived answers and using fake European actors pictures as avatars, do a tin eye reverse image search to see! And the 2 main problems they have are since inception to this day and nothing has changed and will never change for they walk the line of legality but are very dishonest.

Well, this is a lie as it was about 10 minutes down the line and no answer came when the money went off my account. After about waiting for half an hour, an expert asked me questions and details which I gave back as soon as possible; but had to wait again as the expert were offline and not available. When he eventually came back, I asked why I didn’t get an answer. "I am not familiar with this transmission. I will have to opt out and hopefully another expert might be able to help you."

Why hopefully? My money has been taken and your policy is that I only have to pay if I am satisfied. My wife always warns me to be on the lookout for sites where you pay first and maybe get what you need. Why don't the people on your side get back and say it will take much longer, or are they not really experts as you indicate. I logged into your site again and was transferred to your attorney's department. But once again, the site asked for money and card details. Do not use this website. I am in the UK and this is my experience. I came across this website while searching into my grandfather's illness. I decided to ask a question about the condition that was stated on my grandfather's death certificate. He died of a brain disease. There were options of prices based on how quickly you wanted your question answered. I decided to pay the lowest amount of $11 as I am in no rush for an answer as I can find out the next time about the condition when I visit my GP. The terms state that you only pay when your question is answered. They took the initial $3 deposit and the other $8 would be taken after the question was answered.

A few hours after I asked my question, I was sent an email stating "We have an expert in this condition waiting to answer your question, but feel the time and effort needed to research. It is suggested that you pay $22." I ignored the email and then I received another reply from a woman, who claimed to be a moderator stating she was searching for the correct doctor to help me with my question and to let her know if I required the answer quicker or if I no longer wanted my question answered to let her know. Now that is where the catch is. I did not need the answer quickly nor did I want my question unanswered so again, I chose to ignore.

I then received an email saying my question had been answered and to click the green button to accept. This green button once pressed is agreeing to release the rest of the money. So now they have my $11. My answer was this, "Are you asking about the condition for yourself or in case you have a child that you can pass this on to?" Well as you can see, my question was not answered but my money taken. I replied saying I was interested to find out about this condition but as I had not been given an answer and had been asked for more money, I would not be pursuing anything further and I would discuss the matter with my own doctor. I then received another reply saying, "Thank you for your question and finding out about the condition if you "wish" can be arranged, but is not necessary, but you can pass this on to a child you may have. Please rate your experience as excellent."

I decided to read and ignore as I was fuming by this answer, but decided as I had not gotten an explanatory answer to my question that I rated his answer as poor and unhelpful. I then received another message saying "Change your rating, I gave good service." I laughed out loud at his comment and politely replied stating I would not change my rating due to not having an answer to my question as the terms and conditions clearly state I would be given an answer suitable to my question by an expert.

Well after searching the doctor's profile, he is a gynecologist so he is not even qualified to have been given my question to answer in the first place. Please everyone, do yourselves a favor and hold onto your money. Do not part with your cash giving it to this mindless company. If you search hard enough on the net, you will find just as good answers, if not better, and save yourself being ripped off/scammed by this company. They clearly wanted more money to give me more of an answer, but to be honest, the answer would probably be as useless as the previous answer that was given.

If you use JustAnswer.com, expect the following: Once you give them your credit card number, they will immediately charge you a $1 deposit and also the remaining balance of the "value" of your answer. Again, this does not happen when you click "accept answer." It happens when you type in your credit card number. What happens when you hit "accept answer" is the person who answered your question is allowed to get paid (likely, some small percentage of what the site charged you). JustAnswer has already taken their money. Although it is not marked or explained as such, the price of your answer depends on the slider bars that are shown indicating urgency and/or detail of answer.

If you want a refund, prepare for it to not be easy. The frontline person you will speak with works in Manila, while the real "billing department" is in S.F., CA. The supposed number for the billing department is 415-400-7940, though there is no ID on the VM for this number. Try leaving a message and see if you get a call back. When I spoke to them, I asked for a simple partial refund. They told me first that they would forward my request to billing. And after being persistent, I was assured from billing that it would be processed. However, they also made it complicated by instead of completing a partial refund, claiming a partial refund was not possible.

I have been assured they were doing a full refund and then would charge me the new, lower charge I agreed to. However, I was still being forced to make another transaction with them. Assume that they followed through with what they promised, unless I post otherwise. This site has potential. I got a very good answer, but it is neither straightforward nor above board from this consumer's experience.

This afternoon, around 3:00 pm, I was referred to JustAnswer when I had typed in “DVD recorder problem” on Google. I was using Firefox. They said if I did not get the solution to my question, I would not have to pay. The answer they gave me repeated everything I had told them. My last answer was: “Rusty, you have told me what I already told you. I have learned nothing from you." I have the entire exchange in print. Around 5:00 pm, I contacted my credit card company and they said the charge was already pending. At no time did I push their "accept" window.

On 28/03/2012, I joined JustAnswer and spoke to a technician about my problem. He logged onto my computer remotely and tried to find a solution. After a while communication stopped and I realized that he had done something to disconnect me from the internet and I was unable to reconnect. I decided to log in again via my husband's iPad and when I tried to log in under my previous log in, it kept saying that someone of that email address was already a member and wouldn't accept my email address, so I had to use my husband’s.

I could not find the original technician, so I logged out and haven't heard back since. My bank account shows that I was charged by JustAnswer on 28/03 the sum of AUD$46 and again, on 11/04, I was charged a further AUD$66. As yet, there has been no further communication from JustAnswer nor has my problem been fixed.

What mystifies me is that I was directed to this site through Mozilla, maker of Firefox. Do not click on any of these ads. If I don't get my money back in 6 days or so, I will contact a lawyer.

The website is set up to mislead you into signing up for ongoing charges when you have no intention of doing so. I tried 4 times to remove the ongoing monthly charges without success. Their "Help" section gave misleading information on removing monthly charges. I kept looking and when you go to "my account" you will see a very small section on the left side labeled "Unlimited Questions." You must then click on "Edit" and finally the famous "On/Off" button will appear, allowing you to simply click off.

I have just found this, so I am not guaranteeing it will work, but there is no other way of contacting this company and nothing else has worked. I have already been ripped off for 4 months of non-use, plus two questions that contained wrong answers and cost me an additional fee that was not noted anywhere in there site. Buyers beware with these slime balls, one of the worst sites on the net. I cannot believe that Google gives them 3 stars? No response and the money was taken immediately out of my account.

When I logged on again, it would not accept my password (this, I had written down and I know was correct). There seemed to be no easy way to make any contact with them to confirm how I can apply for a refund. It does say that there is a 30-day refund guarantee. I do not have a penny to my name at the moment and would very much appreciate an email on the best way to do this. I do hope we get a good result here.

They stated there was a disclaimer when I was signing up for this service when I asked my question, but it must be hidden in a way or stated in a way that is not noticeable when you ask your first question. It now makes me leery to do any service online. I consider myself an intelligent person and use online services on a regular basis, but never came across a business that bills you when you never signed up for future services and does it in such a way that is under handed. This site starts by offering answers to questions without indicating, until several clicks later, that there is a cost. Then they claim that a charge will only be made if one is satisfied with the answer. But as one clicks on, one is required to give credit card info before the answer is even offered, and to boot, a "deposit" is charged, which will be held until one receives an answer one is satisfied with. When you try to exit the site, a window pops up with an offer of an introductory "free" account, which, one would assume to mean that a question would be answered without charge. Not so. As one proceeds, one is led to the same window requiring credit card info. In other words, there's no way of entering this self-described repository of information on all kinds of subjects without giving out credit card info. They are entitled to make a buck, but at least save people time and effort by indicating immediately that there is a charge for their service, and don't play games by offering a free introduction to their service which is non-existent!
