We were having refrigerator issues on a Sunday and found JustAnswer website. Entered information regarding our credit card and we also requested a phone call which was an additional $24. $24 was charged to our credit card that did not receive a phone call. They said there was no technician available but our account was still charged the $24. After emailing and chatting with this company we still have not received that $24 back on our credit card. Instead I received a link wanting us to be charged another $28 to talk to a technician which we do not want to do at this point in time. It's like they are not listening to our requests. We are very frustrated at this point in time. I would not recommend this website to anyone.

A mac expert called David ** solved my problem (Inability to print PDFs on MAC OSX) and I gave him 5 stars. I was very impressed with the effectiveness of the solution and would use him again in future. I searched the net for a solution to this problem and discovered it was a permission's issue that arose with Mac High Sierra. However, no solution was available that suited my needs.

Not a great fan of on line chatting, but it went fairly well. Felt much more confident on how to resolve my question after the phone conversation. Technician, Kelly, was very knowledgeable, clear and confident. He was understanding and patient.

I was working with an online technician as I am an US Citizen that speaks and reads English and in my Google program I started forsee a comic like caricature of a Chinese woman named "Pickles". In the top corner of my computer screen so I saw an advertisement for "JustAnswer" for computer problems with $30. But when we started there was another $7 fee for a total fee of $37 and I could feel that the advertised fee could escalate from there. They advertised 100% Satisfaction or Your money back guarantee. It was a service where the technician would gain access to the computer with me online and would work on the problem to fix it typing questions and answers back and forth.
When I asked about the fee change I was not satisfied with the answer as it could increase rapidly from there without my permission as they did not tell me about the second fee. So, I decided to take the 100% money back and they did credit my bank account, But, now three days later I check my bank account charged a $52 fee and my problem was never resolved. The last when this happened I had to close my account, reopen a new one and contact all the companies that I use the credit card for and change the number and it took days to go online or call and change the credit card number. All I got for my money was more frustration than I originally had with a few Chinese letters and a caricature.

I asked a question and was then promoted to place a $5 deposit. I chose to pay using PayPal but was unpleasantly surprised to see a bill for $48. As I am overseas, the bill showed up in yen and I didn't recognize it until I pressed the accept button. After the transaction was complete, I was routed back for an additional $17 payment, which I declined. I did not receive service, nor did I sign up for any membership, as I entered no account details. I have already disputed this through Paypal. It is shameful to think that I asked to get a question answered and was scammed this way.

I signed up for JustAnswer on Nov. 7, 2017 after asking my first question. It was great as I was using it for getting information on artwork and collectibles and such. I kept using the service on and off and on November 29, 2017, while asking a question my account was terminated with no explanation whatsoever before my membership expired! The last question I asked deleted for some reason? A message telling me to contact support popped out so I proceeded to contact them. I have contacted support twice and it is now Dec. 15, 2017 with no reply whatsoever! It is a great service with quick prompt reply when it comes to answering questions. Don't expect to get an answer when it comes to customer support!

The doctor that answered my question about my sons lab work was great! He replied quickly and in terms that abnormal parent could understand. We had been on edge since our son had ecoli and the lab results were up and down and very hard to interpret. The doctor put us at ease. This service is truly a great service!

I have two e-mail accounts: ** (primary) and **, which I hardly ever use. Although Outlook is my default server most incoming e-mails were diverted to Gmail. Even though Gmail was set to forward all incoming mails to Outlook, automatically, it failed to do so. In FIVE separate sessions, their technical support failed to resolve the problem. Despite some connection problems, JustAnswer's expert, Kamil ** did so in a single session.

Nice historical discussion of aquatint and John Audubon. The discussion was written in 25 minutes and was well done. The range of values from auction to retail looks very reasonable and obtainable. Would like an insurance appraisal but not possible without physical observation. That was discussed with using State Farm as an example.

Oven wouldn't heat up and after checking everything I could see I went online to just ask and they connected me with Billy. He informed me there was another heating element hidden in the side of the oven and how to get to it. I found a wire had come loose. After reconnecting oven is working.

Outstanding experience, I couldn’t be happier! Woke to house temp in 50’s, thought it was the thermostat so I Googled around for the brand and model and ended up on JustAnswer. I had used once before, 4 yrs ago, thought why not? After taking care of administrative preliminaries, I was online chatting with repair tech Kcrand36 who walked me through the required system checks to a solid diagnosis I was able to confirm when I pulled the part out and got a better look at it and observed that it had cracked. With the OEM part # I had part ordered online and will install myself when it arrives tomorrow.

I have never been so angry about an online experience as the one I had at JustAnswer.com. I felt so rip offed and taken advantage of by them. I usually would not use a place like this, but I was in terrible pain after an intense back procedure and this site advertised that I could ask a neurologist a question. After I asked the question it then asked for $5 from my PayPal account to get the answer. I figured. Ok, this seems odd that a neurologist is working for $5 an answer but I am suffering. So, I clicked it, then it asked for $48 to join their membership, where you can ask questions all month & give them $48 every month. I unclicked that box.
Soooo, my question goes through to an odd looking little guy that says something like Dr. **, Neurologist, under his pic. He asks, "How old are you? Do you want to talk live for $50?" Wow! I told them how old I was right in my question, so he obviously didn't read it and my question was one that could be answered w/o a call - first thing just trying for $$$. He looked sketchy, so I asked, "Are you actually a neurologist?" It was important to me as my question was about nerve damage & that's why I was willing to pay to ask. He said no!! Even though it said so all over the site and under his photo.
I told him that I thought the site was a ripoff and was going to complain. The next day he offered a one sentence answer to my question that was ridiculous. I had already offered that answer as a possibility in my question. I got better more detailed help on Wikipedia. When I went to Customer Service to complain - I found out they had enrolled me in the $48 membership even though I didn't sign up for it. UGH. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHAM OF A BUSINESS! They are out to wring your $ from you for information you can easily find on your own much faster. Stupid & conniving. Please don't let them use you.

It looks like your question was posted to the General Medical category which is why you received a reply from an internist but the Expert should have referred the question to Customer Care to find you a Neurologist if that's what you were looking for, so we'll follow up with him about that.

I was on a live chat with a CS assistant to redirect me to a doctor who could answer my questions. I was asked a some questions to assess my situation. I was asked a deposit of 5 USD to continue chatting while they are redirecting to a doctor and suddenly my connection crashed. I was waiting to load the page but it did not come back to the chat lines. I was charged for another 32 USD approximately after an hour. Without getting any questions answered not even talking to any doctor! I'm sure they can track my log from the account number I entered. I need to know how to get my refund as this is unacceptable.

I asked a question about Canadian privacy laws and was directed to a lawyer who said they could answer my question. They did but with less detail than I felt comfortable with so I requested a second opinion. That second opinion was assigned to another lawyer but I never got a response. I chatted with a customer service representative who apologized and put the question in the priority sequence. Two days later and the question was still not answered. I chatted with another customer service representative and they offered to move it into another priority level but, by then, I was done and canceled my account.

I had a basic legal query and clicked on a site promising a response for $5. I was directed to PayPal and after clicking okay I realised that the charge was A $66. I queried this via email and requested a refund. I received no response so emailed again requesting a refund. I have received no response at all despite the promises of 100% satisfaction. I am extremely dissatisfied with this and feel that I have been conned. I have tried to communicate again with JustAnswer a few moments ago and they are trying to charge me again. Clearly this is a means to extract money from people without offering a proper service.

They charged me $5 then said they were in charge me $39 for answer within 12 minutes. They did not do so. I agreed to the $5 charge and never got an answer after that for an hour so I disputed the charge. Shame on them.

HP printer was locked by a ink system failure. I received help to resolve the problem by Mr. Md. **. Printer is doing fine. I rate the system a 10. When I cleaned the heads of the printer, I noticed that only the magenta cartridge was dirty compared to the other 3, so I replaced it and the printed fired up immediately.

My Westie had eaten a Flintstone vitamin that had fallen to the ground. I immediately called the animal poison control but due to a high number of calls, I was left holding on the phone a long time. I then got disconnected and had to call back, only to wait even longer. Meanwhile, I had no idea if I needed to take my dog to the ER, which is about 40 minutes away (this at night, after his vet's office had closed). While holding on, I looked up this site and requested a phone call from Dr. Scott **. He promptly answered my question online and called me right away. He put me at ease when he explained to me that my dog would be okay and that the vitamin was not strong enough to be toxic to him. He even made himself available to me for the next 4 or 5 hours if anything changed with my dog and I needed him. Very caring and compassionate doctor. Glad I was assigned to him.

Back in Feb 17 I had a legal question about YouTube, and I looked online JustAsk.com for the question. They wanted more money, so I quit. They then kept charging my credit card $39 a month and I never asked any questions! I have put them on the Fraud Alert people at my bank. Beware.

It looks like you did receive several replies form a technician about the issue that you were having with YouTube Back in February. It seems like you may have missed the email notifications that we sent out to you to let you know that the technician had responded.
I can also see that it appears that you had opted into the membership program when you posted the first couple of questions but it does appear that the membership has been switched off for more than a month.

Adam Roesel has contacted me and offered a very gracious resolution to my issues with my computer and I have no problem recommending them. Unfortunately for me, I am going to have to update my computer to a system with better technology in order to perform as I need it to. I am writing this to allow people to understand that even though there are many satisfied customers that use this site, there are also those who have not had a good experience and should be heard as well. I spoke with Emily, a Supervisor(**), on October 16, and explained that on September 22nd I used their service to get assistance for a computer problem. The "expert" logged into my computer and appeared to have fixed my issues. However, in only a day or two the same problem showed up and was worse than before. On September 29th, I had to pay another $55.00 fee for yet another "expert" to come back into my computer and attempt another fix. This guy spent over an hour working and seemed to know what he was doing. After he logged off and within 48 hours I was back to square one again, only this time being unable to access the internet at all.
Emily promised to have someone contact me within 24 hours and speak with me by phone as they were going into my computer instead of trying to communicate via texting and after waiting 4 days and not receiving a call from anyone, I attempted to reach Emily. Had to leave a message for her as she was in an "important meeting" but have yet to hear from her and don't really expect to. Just be careful about using these guys as they are can't fix every problem, regardless of how many times they try but they have no issue with taking your money each time they try. As for their "100% Guarantee", that's a joke, too!

I was having problem with CBS All Access on my tv. I thought it would cost $5.00. So proceed with question figured out it was not my tv but didn’t know it was going to cost more money that was charged to my credit card. I am not happy. If you would have give me the option to go further and pay more I would have said no. I declined all the pop ups to talk on the phone. I think I should get a refund on my $30.00 dollars I did not know you were going to charge me. I do not mind paying the original $5.00. Your website is misleading on your charges and should be fixed. I contacted JustAnswer on September 9 and I was charged $5 for a "deposit". I was told that I would be charged an additional $24 and that $24 appeared on my next credit statement as being a "phone call" occurring on September 12. That's okay, but I also discovered on my credit card statement a charge of $31 on September 12 called "repairman". I have no idea what that's about.
I feel like I was charged twice for the same service. But then on September 13, I received an email saying that I would be charged a monthly subscription fee of $31 on September 15 if I didn't cancel by then. I did cancel and they appear to have honored the cancellation, even though they continue to send me junk email. But, my complaint is that they charged me double and that it was preposterous for them to charge me yet again 2 or 3 days later if I didn't take any action. Buyers should be aware that JustAnswer will abuse the use of your credit card. I would never do business with them again.

First of all I can see that you are not on a membership, so you definitely won't see any recurring billing. We can also get the marketing emails turned off for you as well. You should be able to unsubscribe from the bottom but we can also take care of that on our end.
In looking at the question that you posted, it looks like there were two charges for the question. The $5.00 deposit for posting the question and then the remainder deposit was $31.00. The $24.00 was for the phone call with the technician. Phone calls do incur an Extra charge because the technician is only able to work with you while they are on the phone call and is not able to respond to other customers.

NEVER responded to my emergent question about my elderly cat. I submitted question on September 3rd and was never contacted by a veterinarian about my question. JustAnswer advertises 24/7 help available which couldn't be farther from the truth. I was able to manage my cat until our local vet's office opened. I have made three phone calls to JustAnswer complaining about their unethical business practices. I requested a refund. I paid through PayPal and it has now been 32 days since they billed me for services they never provided. Although they said they would refund my money, they did not. They said the problem was with PayPal. After contacting PayPal, I've learned that JustAnswer still has not processed a refund for me. I had to open a PayPal dispute. Such a hassle!! Customer service person, Alex, at JustAnswer would not allow me to speak to a supervisor. Thankfully PayPal is reputable and able to help.

I needed to ask a question re a pair of Bose headphones. I authorized a $5 'refundable' initial payment. Then directed to a technician but was really a page asking me to sign up for a free trial, other timed 'help' etc. I then noticed in the fine print that proceeding to a technician would cost me $58 AUD. I didn't proceed and clicked off the page. Requests for a return of my 'refundable' $5 were ignored with cut and paste responses and further directed to the page to leave my credit card details which I already had done.
I checked my account to see not one but two pending deductions. The second being for $58 which I DID NOT authorize. I just want to warn people about these thieves. I have had to cancel my card and lodge a complaint with my bank. When I tried to communicate with the technician I was offered a phone chat option for $37! He did not respond to me through the text window. Someone close these scammers down please!

I needed to know if I could add antibiotic to the ** granules. I got a quick response, and info. I didn't know about repeating the treatment in a month to get rid of the giardia. It saved me a 45 minute drive to an emergency clinic and a LARGE fee. This is a great service and I am glad there are so many professionals available. I called customer service 3 times, Arnold was very polite and said he would refund my money and cancel the account at my request. They refunded some but not all. (They kept $20) $5 deposit, $20, then another $40, and $55 membership fee/recurring. They charged me $55 for membership which is very deceiving on the link/web page. They refunded my account (except $20) but then charged it again the same day. I have called 2 more times now and they say the account is closed (good) but they keep telling me to call my bank?? It is on my account list... They refunded it then charged $55 again on the same day/different time. Buyer beware!

Through deception this service leads you to believe that it costs 5 dollars to ask a question. After incurring a charge of 25 dollars more than I thought I was paying, I looked for reviews on the service. I learned that numerous people have complained about the unclear method they use to bill you for more than you are expecting. After all of the complaints about this, it still continues. Obviously nothing has been changed to remedy it. A testament to their intention. Not only that but in response to my complaint to customer service they pretended to misunderstand me. Flat out bad business! Do not use this service!

I had cause to use the service in relation to a TV problem and whilst the technician who responded gave me some useful advice I had no idea how much the service was going to cost me and was most unhappy when I saw the charge on my credit card statement online. The number of times pop ups appeared coaxing me to pay £22 for a telephone consultation as well as regular urging to take out an ongoing subscription were very obvious and were not taken up by me. This frequent and obvious highlighting of additional/alternative options seem a clear diversion from the alleged provision of charging information for the use of the service which was not given anything like the same prominence. If it had, I would not have continued in my use of the service - I did not expressly authorize anything other than the initial $5 payment. Having contacted them I did receive a response but my request for refund was not even acknowledged.

First: If I could rate this site lower than one star, I would. When I requested an answer it appeared that the cost would be $5.00. When I saw the actual charge, it was $45.00. I would have appreciated the opportunity to decline the amount prior to having the expert give the "answer" but the charge wasn't shown until I saw it on my account. Very deceptive. The site had pop-up after pop-up to entice me into clicking into a subscription service in which I was not at all interested. Even though I declined the opportunity to subscribe no fewer than 10 times, the pop-ups just kept on coming. I am not disputing the quality of the answer. I am reviewing the deceptive pricing model.
I got fooled. I am warning, buyer beware-- don't be a sucker. Use Wikipedia!! I should have read the reviews before agreeing to payment. Live and learn. I hope that by posting this "review" I can keep others from being sucked in by the confusing charge-a-lot strategy that JustAnswer.com uses. They must not get a lot of repeat customers.

Custom Service request after a "refundable" deposit of $5.00. I was asking for help with my Gmail account. The customer service rep would not assist me until I paid $39 for the "free" assistance [with numerous half page ads for the additional $39 fee]. After explaining I was on Social Security fixed income, he required $5 in lieu of the $39 original fee. I told him I could not afford that. He could not help without that $5 payment.

Thought I was contacting Epson about a printer problem when directed to Just Answer. They wanted credit card info for a $5 charge. Printer only printed blank pages. Technician "Josh" told me to clean printer heads which I did. Told him it printed but with some blurred lines. Then got notice he could take over my printer and deal with it but for a $39 charge. Told him that I'd deal with it if he'd tell me what to do. He told me to clean the heads 3 more times which solved it. My credit card was then charge $28 because he answered.

My dog is my baby, by no exaggeration - I was 20 when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 22 when I was put into medically induced menopause. My only son is Autistic and my dog replaced the baby I will never have. I trained him to be a service dog for our son and he is phenomenal. However he is having these scary episodes that the vet passed off as typical seizures and acted as if all was fine. I video recorded the episodes and took behavioral data (I work with special needs and behavioral intervention). This vet was very patient and explained everything extremely well throughout the middle of the night and responded immediately! He is AMAZING!

My hp Color LaserJet CP2025dn was offline and I could not figure out how to get it online and ready. On 8.5.17 My JUST ANSWER QUESTION ORDER was a problem with the email (locked, lost and unable to reinstall on my own) on my iPhone. I am actually very satisfied with the speed that the doctors respond etc. and with their advice, so there is no problem with that at all. I do, however, have a problem with the site which is why I only gave 3 stars. I noticed that another reviewer found the same as I, in that it one gets directed from one confusing page to another with no get out clause to find the way back to where one wishes to be. Most pages then lead to payment and unless one is familiar with the website, then one can end up paying several times over if one is not careful. At least that was my experience today. Maybe it is just me or a slow computer.
I have messaged Just Answer with my query and have an automated response. Since sending that message, my history has appeared on my screen showing what I have paid but still have no idea what the total should be. I am sure I have paid too much. This problem needs to be addressed as not everyone is totally computer savvy and it would certainly put me off using them again. I have used them in the past without too much trouble.

My elliptical machine lost power and the technician (JT) suggested I buy a $450 console from FitnessRepairParts.com. I followed the recommendation. When that did not work, I wrote asking for someone else at JustAnswer.com to help. The electrical engineer who replied recommended we check the equipment's fuse, so my son took the elliptical apart and replaced a $4 fuse. It now works with the old console. Now when I return the console, I can only get $228.35 back. So taking JT's advice cost me $250. I am grateful to Electrical Engineer Pete for steering me in the right direction. JT must have been out of his league.

We were having a leak in our refrigerator and wanted to resolve the issue without the need to call a service technician. Woke up at 4 am and found your site online. I was immediately greeted by a CNP asking me if I had any issues I needed addressed. Wow, at 4 a.m. I had been stung multiple times by bee's earlier that day and hives broke out all over my body and my throat had the sensation of closing up, making breathing slightly difficult. All of which caught me by complete surprise since I didn't know I was allergic, having been stung before without any symptoms. Anyway, they asked further questions from me regarding me and possible medical history trying to get a complete picture. I was then immediately referred to a doctor, whom quickly answered my questions and offered more assistance if necessary. All in all I was done by 430 a.m. and back to bed. My Arnie had a cancer op on the 27/6/17. I wanted advice on medication I could give him. I spoke to pitbull mum a veterinary nurse. This service was worth the price for having a professional vet, Sarah **, address my chihuahua's needs. I'd never seen the results of a burst anal sac abscess, which had presented itself without my knowledge. I had initially noticed some blood under my dog's tail after taking her out for a bowel movement, but she didn't produce one. I mistakenly thought she had chewed her tail, so I gave her a quick bath and applied Vaseline to it where I thought it looked sore. Later, she was still distressed, not eating and was uncomfortable sitting on my lap, kind of droopy and she seemed warm. After looking closer under her tail, I discovered the tiny hole beside her anus. Not having ever seen that on her bottom, I was taken aback. The vet was very informative and kind. She described the condition and how it caused the hole (burst abscess of anal sac) and gave me some solutions that might soothe my dog until I could get her to the vet the next morning. Very pleased.

Sid whom I've had for 10 years is my best friend, companion and my ESA, started developing an allergy the beginning of Spring. I noticed tiny bumps that raised his fur up like hives. They started near his thighs and moved up to his neck. I took him to the vet. She wanted to do skin scraping $250, thyroid testing $175 and more blood work since I'm on a limited budget. I couldn't do any of that, I did leave there with a special shampoo, fish oil and antibiotics. I went home and surfed the internet for hours which ended up a whole month online searching.
In the meantime my baby's fur fell out in patches and has thinned on his back and sides. I managed to rule out everything and came down to 2 or 3 things but this thing going on with Sid was absolutely driving me mad! I believe it affected me more than him. I love him so much and I hate seeing him with anything wrong! Anyways I discovered this website and I wrote back and forth with Dr. **, she was awesome. The best part was she told me Sid's problem was either food allergy or allergy to pollen and she suggested what I should do with what I already have on hand and to change his dog food to a hypoallergenic one. I was able to tell her what was going on, she answered and after we communicated back and forth. Definitely helped to relieve stress on me and my baby. Thank you.

I was hesitant at first to try Just Answer but I'm really happy I did. Although my car issue was not fixed, it was not because the mechanics were lacking skills or knowledge. My contact was made June 15 between 8-9 am. I got online with an attorney. (P ** in AZ). He asked for some detailed information. I sent him a question. The site then said he was busy. Then was redirected to an optional phone call. I thought I would be eventually talking to the same attorney he wasn't "busy" anymore. I was told it would be an extra $59 added to my original $30+. I agreed then found it was not the original attorney. He said he would cancel the $59 charge and I could talk to the original attorney. I tried to find out from him how I would get back to the original attorney. He gave no answer. There was no way for me to find the original attorney.
I clicked on tech support and You just get in an automatic loop "talking" to a supposed person, really a computer just asking the same stupid questions over and over to get you to an attorney, any attorney. I can see no option on the site to get my money back as they promise if you are not satisfied. Furthermore they start with saying it's a five dollar deposit but then all sorts of options pop-up and to continue on. It is not clear which option you are choosing. So apparently I accidentally chose the $30 plus option. I want every penny of anything I spent returned. I do not like this site. Feel it is purposely confusing but they feel you'll be happy if you get a decent answer So they run you through this game plan. They are no better than the fence company I'm going up against. What a waste of time and energy.

I was having a problem with my laptop. I searched for help in order to find an answer for my issue and I landed on a site called Just Answer which they can help on nearly anything so I asked a question for my problem, then they told I need to pay $5 to post the question. I paid the money. And when I got a reply from an expert about the issue I had, I was told that I needed to pay $37 to view my reply. It was too much for me and I left it, never saw my reply and lost my $5 and a couple days later, I check my bank account and I see that they have taken $37. And I don't know what to do now they have taken beyond my limit without my permission.

I thought I had contacted a tech for Canon but I got shuttled around to a site where I was quickly advised to pay $23.00 and then sat on hold for 20 min. I asked my question and the attorney told me he hurt his arm - they wanted me to pay $59 for a phone call. How many attorneys over there have bad arms, I wonder? I was told I have a response but I can't find one - I suppose I have to agree to something even more expensive. I was told the answer would come by email. I'm so sick of scams.

I signed up, paid to get an answer, and the supposed Acura "Expert" Mechanic replied with, "Welcome, I'm here to help 365 days a year, but not every hour of the day. I try to prevent delays as much as possible. Please understand I am not there and can only advise based on what you tell me. Let's get started. Maybe a difficult question in regards to a vehicle repair... but no response other than 2 questions asked by JustAnswer.com before a tech is suppose to respond... but this is the weekend. Lesson #1 for me... Always research the make, model and similar problems associated on a free forum before being snagged by outfits like this. #2 do not be mislead by a 7 day free trial as they will immediately want a credit card # and bill immediately. Thankfully mine was not a debit card and was billed through PayPal and believe me they (PayPal) heard about this one. Of course even then PayPal says I should try to resolve the issue with the service provider. Yeah, after reading some reviews on ConsumerAffairs... Good luck with that one... So either I resolve with PayPal or JustAnswer.com or the credit card co... but somebody ain't gonna get paid even if I have to cancel the credit card... A hard lesson learned.

I had one simple question that I wanted to ask a lawyer. A lady came on the line and indicated she was going to connect me with a lawyer. I then saw a form that indicated that I needed to provide a $5.00 REFUNDABLE charge. That was a big mistake. I never received a $5.00 refund but instead I was charged $31.00 with no warning. I did not even wait for a response from this company because my phone rang right away from the Fraud Department at my credit card company. I hung up and declined the charge. They told me that I should close this credit card but I am traveling and need to use my card. I wish I would have closed it because now they have charged the card again which I will have to call back and decline the charge again. I would not use this company as they do not appear to be honest and up front. I should have had a choice if I wanted to pay $31.00 for simple advice. Very disappointed that I ever called this company.

Despite several calls spread over a month there was no further communication from the expert and despite assurances that JustAnswer would find another 'expert' there was no further communication from them either unless I instigated it. Their solution was to refund all my costs - not what I wanted and not impressed.

I have tried to sign up as an expert since January. My application is "pending review," and has been since then. Their website says it will take no more than 10 business days. I have emailed them 10 times, with absolutely no response. This is NOT how to operate a business.

Firstly - About my rate of my experience. There is no provision for showing when an illegal act has been made upon any person, firm or corporation or I would have cited the law, and given a negative star rating. While viewing the JustAnswer website to understand how it worked, and various requirements of the site, plus unable to find any decent documentation of the complete 'wherewithal' I had to enter into the start of asking a question for a better understanding. Before I could even begin to see the setup I was required to put in my personal and financial information. I did see that they would charge $5.00 to enter into the site, but had seen where they claim there would not be a charge, or be given a refund if I was dissatisfied with the site, or response to my question. I did not worry about that part as I did not intend to ask any question, or use any of the so-called 'Experts' for additional charges.
I asked no question, or connected with any person, but was charged $28.00 for just going in to look things over. When I saw the charges on my credit card that were paid out, I attempted to file for a refund. There again I found a more serious problem with the website. There is no contact method unless a person becomes a member at which time the person must also enter their finance method. There is no manner provided for a person to contact any member of administration without first becoming a registered member, but the company has the ability to "steal" funds from that person.
Just because a person goes to the JustAnswer site is in no way any guaranteed intent to either join, or ask a question. It may also mean that they just want more information that any type of FAQ's can answer. JustAnswer should not be allowed, or have any provision where anyone must join and provide any financial information before having the provision for the person to ask questions of the Corporate administration. I can provide a copy of the charges leveled upon my credit card. No one should have to call for a refund. A mere contact statement should have the method to do so right in the website.

I am feeling scammed. I have just sent my 5th email to JustAnswer customer service. In January I was having a computer/email problem that I couldn't resolve. I was looking for assistance and came across JustAnswer. So I decided to try them. I input my problem and the first thing they did was ask for 5 USD. I paid and tried to proceed but got nowhere fast. This may well have been a function of what was happening with internet services in my current country, rather than an issue with Just Answer.
However, I received absolutely no assistance with my problem and never went back to them. Recently I was checking my bank account and found JustAnswer had taken a further 35 USD out of my account for NO service and certainly without authorisation. Given that I had been unable to proceed with my request for assistance, this is, quite simply and completely, inappropriate.
I am currently attempting to get my money back but am getting the runaround. Initially, I was inundated with emails; 5 in the first 24 hours; with repetitive requests for the same information from different people. And one saying they "can't find my account." Well as far as I was aware I didn't have an account, so that is not a surprise, but they were still able withdrew money without authorisation and I want that money back. Since then I have heard nothing, now 2 days on. I don't know if this is a scam or simply a company with extremely poor business practices but I'm feeling absolutely conned. Since it was an unauthorised withdrawal for no service or product I have no receipt. The only thing I have is a copy of my bank account transaction receipt showing the withdrawal details.

I asked a question about my cat and a text chat came up. I didn't think much of it, and wondered if my question could be answered. They said they would charge me a fee of $5, which I didn't mind paying at the time, and the next thing I know, I have a $22 charge on my PayPal to them. What also seemed suspicious is I get an email that my PayPal acct password got changed. I immediately called PayPal to change my password. I don't think it was a coincidence since it happened all within a few minutes of my being charged the $22! Also, after I made the mistake and clicked OK to the $5 charge but charged $22, another page comes up as if payment wasn't paid. They were trying to charge me double!! VERY UNSATISFIED!!

The $5.00 deposit is the charge for posting the question and the remainder deposit is usually taken after the Expert responds.
In this case it appears that you requested a refund of the PayPal charges within 5 minutes, so when the Vet responded shortly after that and you tried to view the response, the funds had already been refunded and you were asked to post a deposit again.

I feel like I was conned out of my money. They had me list the issues before connecting me with a tech. They show a picture of a tech and mention his credentials and show the with the number of satisfied customers he/she has had. At that stage I assumed he would respond to my questions after I submitted my credit card info. No way, it is mandatory that you join one of their monthly services to take the next step. Of course they tell you that you can cancel at any time but how many people forget to cancel when they no longer need the service. And I would probably be one of them. I don't do business that way and won't deal with companies that do.

This is resolved with a refund. However running an online business myself, the practice to automatically enroll someone in monthly membership using saved credit card info (without consent) is giving your website a bad name. Looking at the reviews, I am not the only one had this bad experience. After the trial ends, if someone is interested in using the service, they will sign up themselves. No one has that many questions needing expert opinions on monthly basis. I have changed the rating to 3 stars, thanks to the customer support resolving this in a quick manner.

They charge $36 - whether they are able to answer your question or (more likely) not. I wanted to know why my criminal record showed a High-Occupancy Lane - Single Occupant Vehicle Violation as a MISDEMEANOR instead of a PETTY MISDEMEANOR. "Doug" answered by saying I was correct that is should be a PM but criminal reports do not differentiate between the two. When I responded that it did in fact differentiate (I also have a PETTY MISDEMEANOR for a speeding ticket) - he refused to respond any further and told me my question would go into a pool where other professionals could respond. So I basically paid for an incorrect answer.

I was asked to pay a one time $5.00 fee to get help with a logon problem. I paid the fee with PayPal. Afterwards, I noticed my account was charged a $36.00 recurring monthly charge. When I complained to JustAnswer, they connected me to one of their lawyers and wanted additional fees to resolve the problem. I refuse to pay and feel I have been scammed. I am trying to resolve it through PayPal now. I would never use this service again!

I had a question concerning a mantel clock and submitted my question when asked. Then they said they would find someone to answer and wanted to charge a $5 deposit or 'good faith' fee. I reluctantly gave a credit card no. with the understanding that the fee would be refunded if I didn't use the service. Next, I was told that I would be billed a $30 fee to have my question answered, but had the option of cancelling. I hit the cancel button and exited, but my credit card was charged the $5 fee, with no credit for it, and was also charged a $31 fee from Clock Fix.
I think it is wrong to conduct business in this way as we should have been told of the $31 charge earlier. I am going to call the credit card co. to dispute the bill and refuse to pay it. I tried calling the cust. service no. about the billing but the rep was apparently overseas. When she asked me to spell out my email address, the call disconnected. The date of service was 04/23/17. I tried to phone them but could not get through on both their phone numbers as it would not connect. I live in Israel but used a UK credit card. I am very concerned. On the 3rd April I asked a question and paid 25.51 shekels. I have just received my credit card statement and it shows an additional membership fee of 197 shekels and 2 days later a tech help fee of 154 shekels. I most certainly did not ask any further questions and I did not ask for any additional help nor to become a member. I have therefore been overcharged the sum of 351 shekels which I want refunded immediately. As I get my credit card statement once a month I would not be aware of these overcharges at the time.
Please deal with this problem immediately. I am very cross as I went by the ratings they had received before I used them. Someone in their company has put these additional charges without notifying me by email, fax or phone call. They have a referenced ** on my credit card so it was obviously activated by their California branch.

We have all used the internet to find information when making a purchase. But JustAnswer tactics for their site forces you to sign on to a monthly billing cycle in order to get the information you have already paid for. I do not recommend this site to anyone. Very deceiving tactics.

I had recently requested the "expert" advice of a eye doctor and more specifically a retina specialist. I was put in touch with an individual that did a good job answering my questions. However, I became extremely alarmed as I realized that the doctor's name & profile picture was the exact same as an endocrinologist that I had asked advice from 18 months earlier. So, basically the same individual is an endocrinologist and retina specialist... really??? I contacted JustAnswer, they requested a snapshot of profiles... which I did. They have since not responded. So I am left disappointed and upset that I have wasted money on fraudulent experts provided on the site. I can't trust any of the advice I received... avoid at all costs.

Technician described two conditions that could cause "open door" alarm to go off even when door was closed. I located plunger switches he described and the one on the freezer door was the culprit. Plunger switch was not making contact with strike pad on a hinge cap. I just snapped the hinge cap back in proper alignment and solved the problem in about 30 seconds! Thank you.

Toyota Corolla 2007 trunk won't latch. Jaybird61 sent me diagram of the three parts of the trunk latch mechanism, which enabled me to make some simple adjustments to the latch at the bottom. The car was in a rear-end collision and sometimes the trunk door does not line up correctly. I also found that a small piece was missing, which I was able to order. From more than $200 my bill became less than $40. Thanks!

Tyler from JustAnswer told me how to test or have it (broiler) tested. If it was bad, he also told me where I could probably find a place to purchase and/or order a new element. Then he told me how to order a new one and how to install it. If it wasn't the element he told me it would be a module that I could replace also but it was about 600 dollars and I was not interested.

At least someone can give me answers, thank you. I have been dealing with 3 different lawyers and 2 of them seem to not get where I needed to go. The other lawyer always seems to postpone or delay and gets away with it, as for me the victim who cares, let me live in a room with hardly any money.

Canon printer was spitting blank pages out the back, not printing my document. Actually he was not able to fix the problem, but that was due to my lack of computer knowledge rather than his skill. He spent almost two hours working on it. The printer is now fixed (by someone else). You charged me $5, $18, and $39. Can any of that be deleted since he wasn't able to fix it?

I went online today to simply look up a definition of a term I had never heard of before (unremarkable cervix). I googled "unremarkable cervix" and someone else had already asked that question so I clicked on the site which was apparently JustAnswer. When I was reading on the page, a chat balloon came up and I told the person I was just looking for a definition and reading about it. They proceeded to ask me about if I had a doctor, normal pap, etc. which I found intrusive so I kept writing... "I've got great doctors. I'm good. Just looked up definition." Which in the comments of their page was pretty much being answered on their site already only I was being distracted from reading it by the chat person who was identified as a gynecological assistant.
Next the person proceeded to tell me to pay $5. I just clicked off the site and thought how laughable. I literally found their prying for info intrusive to what I was reading or trying to read but couldn't finish because of their persistent chat/questions and now when I'm looking on this site, it appears this JustAnswer site is totally scamming people.

While researching info on a problem with my stove I found this online service. I did join as a member, I did put in my credit card info, wrote my question, but was unable to submit it because they REQUIRED a cell phone number. I do not have one, I had "supposedly" been chatting online with a CSR, and when I couldn't submit the question because of the cell phone issue, I kept going back to the chat feature explaining I did not have a cell phone number to give them and couldn't submit the question. However, they did charge my Visa with two charges of $5.00 + $23.00 for the answer to the question I was unable to submit.
When I checked with them yesterday, they couldn't even find my email, they finally said, they had just created one for me and there was an answer waiting, so I would be charged. I never received any indication that my question had been submitted. Most unhappy with their website and their lack of customer service. I do not recommend anyone using them. I do not have an order number, and my bank statement is the only place this shows up.

Went on this site this afternoon as I’m have issues with my car. Submitted the question. Then was asked to pay a deposit of 5 dollars then a balance of 46 dollars on satisfactory answer. Total of 51 dollars. I went for the PayPal option as I don’t wish to put my CC details online. Only to have the full balance of 51 dollars come up on the PayPal charge. I haven't yet received anything but immediately PayPal charge is reverted onscreen to the full amount. I didn't proceed as this is not what is the deal was when initially asking the question.
These sites are great if implemented correctly. I could probably have put my credit card details in and got the initial deposit of 5 dollars put through. Then who knows what would be charged to your CC after they have your details. Regardless of whether the answer to your question is good information or not. These sites do themselves no favors in a world of rip-offs, scams and sad stories of internet phishing. Mainly all semi-intelligent people in today's world have either been burned once or twice and are super cautious like myself or they are listening each night to similar stories of someone else's misfortune on the 6 o'clock news of just this type of scamming. No thank you not for me. If you believe in what you’re peddling then do it right and don't try and rip someone off even before they have any interaction with your so-called experts.

I joined the site because I found a solution to a similar programming problem I'm working on that had already been answered by one of the JA experts. I paid $3 through PayPal to see the results of that post. I received nothing and there is no way to contact the actual expert, ATL Prog. I've contacted technical support and they instruct me to post another question, which is directed to F. ** (who is listed as an accountant) and which will cost an additional $60. The expert response was incorrect, that individuals in the state of FL cannot proceed with Formal Administration, a form of probate without representation by an attorney, as it is considered practicing law. I checked with the Clerk of Courts and was given the exact opposite information, one may file Formal Administration forms with the Clerk of Courts and they will be given to the judge. The issue is finding the forms and completing them correctly as well as following the necessary steps in Formal Administration, it is an involved process but the Clerk of Courts said the information is available at the law library and she has had one person who is not an attorney proceed. (I spoke with the Clerk of Courts in Martin County Florida.)
The expert insisted that the information given was correct, JustAnswers refunded their fee without hesitation which was commendable however I am unhappy at the expert's insistence that the information was accurate when clearly it is not. It is wise to double check the information and use it only as a guideline or starting point.

I wanted some basic legal advice on a traffic infringement. They sent me back an email advising they had an answer. I went to access this answer. I was asked to review my credit card information. This seemed odd. I went back to my emails and saw I would be charged $76 on top of the $5. This is misleading. I checked my card info. It was correct. In fact, they took $5 out of it, despite saying I had to update my details. So I just wanted to cancel the account. I tried to use their chat, but it was unavailable last night and today. So the chat is unavailable but you can access their "experts." There is a button to cancel membership. Apparently if it does not appear then you don't have a membership. There is no button to cancel your account. You have to send them a message. They advise they usually reply in a few hours. They don't. I just want to make sure my account is closed from these pirates.

Provided the info that I had already replaced three parts on my dishwasher and needed a much more prescriptive effort/failure detection process. Specifically provided expectation that if they could provide that then I would be happy to pay the $23 charge. Instead, I got a "I was going to tell you to replace the pump" solution, which I had already told them I did in the initial $5 charge. Then my CC was hit for 2- $5 charges and the $23 charge. TOTAL RIP OFF! Just call SEARS instead, their techs actually diagnosed and fixed it fast on first try.

Updated on 09/24/2019: Originally a few years ago I had requested legal help, a small matter an inconvenience which received a cursory look and questionable answer from the merchant. Once I complained spending around $35, they offered not a reimbursement but a credit for another question. Two years later, I had a troubling issue with drainage in the kitchen sink. Immediately I was charged $5 + the remainder of around $12. I just figured I would work out this payment issue, after hoping to get a credible answer on my problem.
I had originally checked YouTube, Google the issue, etc.. and came to the conclusion that I had a blockage in the drainage from kitchen to the main sewer line. I requested help with Just Answers for a secondary opinion, laid out all the details, what I had done and was told it must be the garbage disposal. I am unsure but at this point I am more knowledgeable than the so called expert. At least so far received credited back for my expenses and received another freebie. At this point I hope to possibly regift this freebie since I have no confidence in Just Answers.
Original review: Contacted a few hours ago and added Amex card for $5 refundable deposit. I am a first time user, and all I wanted was an answer to a legal question. I provided my information, then email + created password probably for the answer, then a charge of $31. After processing the site led me to charges on a monthly basis, or our gold membership, or platinum yada yada. Hey all I wanted was one answer, not a membership to the club, with no way to opt out. Luckily, AMEX provided a fraud alert via text and would not pay until my consent. Since I have no clue as to why I cannot get one answer without joining the club, I opted out completely. Now I will advise if I ever see the $5 chargeback.

I received a phone call from a vet who was patient and thorough with me with my describing a situation a friend of mine's cat was having. She took the cat to the vet the next day, after following the online vet's suggestions and found an infection she didn't know the cat had that was causing the scratching that the cream would not have helped.

I went online January 13 with a question. I tried to make a deposit of $5 and was told the card would not go through. I then used another card next. I NEVER RECEIVED AN ONLINE ANSWER. I instead upgraded to a phone call. While the doctor was kind and helpful, my first card was charged as well as the second card. Additionally, I was charged for an online answer I never received in addition to the upgrade preference of the phone call. This company should make their policies clear.
When I phoned about the problem, I was told I had to pay for the online answer, the deposit and the upgrade. Why would someone pay a 'deposit' which was not included in the payment when it went through? A deposit is a 'deposit' not an additional charge. And why would I pay for an online answer which was never given nor received because I upgraded service to a phone call. So THREE CHARGES for one answer. Will NOT be using this service again. I don't mind paying for something I have decided to pay but don't like being bamboozled into paying three times for one service which was never made clear in the beginning.

It's not the $5 they claim. They charge you an additional $17 once you get a reply. I was okay with the initial $5 but not the extra $17. It's a scam. Of course I'm sure it's all in the small print so they won't give me the $17 back as requested. I would not recommend this service. You can find the same information on google.

Somehow I was enrolled your service at a cost of $38/mo. [Your mistake or mine, don't know]. I called and within one day the matter was resolved and my $ returned!!! That was fantastic, particularly in comparison to other companies' sorely retarded idea of "communication". Perhaps another additional business model for your firm could be doing consulting in this particular area; here's a place to start: "Sprint phone company". I signed on with them in November and cancelled with them in total exasperation early January; even their own point of sales people expressed total frustration with them. I just received yet another bill from them in the postage mail... I'll go no further now... Anyway thanks for your great service. It is nice to know there are companies like yours out there.

Looking for some advice via internet. JustAnswer popped up. I read their info & mistakenly thought I was entering the question for review by a certified mechanic. When I entered my card information I noticed that the info was being "reviewed" by a technician to then pass to the mechanic. Before I could shake my head at the deception I had already entered my payment information. I immediately requested a refund. I was unable to see that the refund happened as my payment had been charged for 2 fees & then had 2 additional transactions for $0 dollars posted to my account.
This week I suddenly have my payment card hacked with 3 different charges totaling more than $900.00. If not for my card carrier notifying me of the hack I would not have been aware & whoever was hacking my account would have kept stealing from me. The only payment interaction was with JustAnswer.com. Seems like the route of hacking is pretty clear. Don't trust this site.

I made the mistake of trying JustAnswer and the "free" trial period cost me about 60 dollars so far. You have to pay $5 to sign up and they tell you they have a 30 day refund guarantee. But the "free" period ends after only 7 days and then you are charged the subscription price. I signed up for the cheapest rate and that is what I was charged the first month. Then the second month I was charged for the next highest rate. I never asked to change my membership and I would have canceled earlier if they had made it clear the free period was only 7 days. From the high number of complaints on this website alone I should never have clicked on the JustAnswer site and I will NEVER do it again. My advice is to stay away from them!!!

Decided to try just answer for an automotive question and was prompted to put credit card # for 5.00 charge on my account, then during process website asked me to sign up for additional money which I did not click any of their offers as I did not want additional charges on my card and haven't used site before. The next morning I see an additional 23.00 charged, when I called customer service the woman told me that all this is explained in their website. I explained to her that this seemed misleading to me and she promptly told me that it was not that I just have not read their policies on their website. I am still not understanding why there is a 5.00 fee and then the next day a 23.00 fee. This just seems very deceptive to me. Why would it not be a 28.00 fee upfront? Be honest at what your product costs, do not bury it in your web pages for consumer to have to research before use.

I used JustAnswer before and been happy. Not today! This time was a whole nother story. Bill an "Immigration attorney" Who could not be bothered to say hello... Which is a minor thing when you think about how important lawyers info is. He gave conflicting, contradictory advice, when I posed one simple question, which could have been answered with a simple answer. 3 quotes of him contradicting himself, and asking for clarification, led me to believe the guy is drunk.
I started to wonder... and saw that he only had 2 ratings. A 1 star and a 2 star... I have now been waiting 3 hours for clarification, again. Oh and to top it off, as I had good experience before, I paid the full amount by Paypal... for legal advice I do not care about $38, but I had no option to pay he $5 good faith payment. If you folks care about your reputation, get rid of this guy! Make good and I might come back, some of your folks are great.

I was fired and it was due to a manager setting me up.... No investigation, it was retaliatory, and I was encouraged by a lawyer of over 20 years via JustAnswer to file with the EEOC. Well, they only handle cases for actual discrimination and not only that, I needed mounds of evidence and paperwork which she failed, of course, to notify me of. The lawyer I paid $35 to speak with one time, claimed they handled hostile work environment claims too. He was very wrong. I would have been better off traipsing around town paying a consultation fee to an actual local attorney.

I signed up to ask ONE question for $5.00: how to add time to my Pay As You Go TracFone cell phone. Next thing I saw was that it would take up to 4 hours to answer my unless I paid more for a quicker response. I did NOT want to pay more or wait 4 hours. I exited JustAnswer.com (with no answer) and instead went directly to the TracFone website, and added time.
Next thing you know JustAnswer.com charged my checking account $5.00 even though I had never gotten an answer. JustAnswer.com kept sending me e-mails saying they have my answer, which of course I no longer need. Next thing you know JustAnswer.com charged me another $15.00 for the next 3 e-mails they sent me. Three days later JustAnswer.com charged me $30.00 for a membership. I complained to Chase and they stopped JustAnswer.com. JustAnswer.com sent me another e-mail saying they refunded my $. Right! Chase got it back for me. I tell everyone now, "Who knows what 8th grader is searching the web for your answer and telling you their PhD qualifications?" Don't do it.

First, I must say that the help I received was absolutely outstanding. I couldn't ask for a better response. My issue is the same as many others indicated. I had no idea about charges. When I first contacted the site (and I have no idea how I got there) I was informed about a $5 charge that would be refunded. Then I was informed that I could get a 30 day free membership, which I signed up for. However, this morning, I find an additional charge on my credit card. I find this very confusing and frustrating. I recently used the JustAnswer to solve a furnace problem. That worked fine. A week later my bank account was hit for a $38 charge while I was expecting $5. Seems they are not upfront about their charges. I was charged $5 for asking a question and then $23 for the answer and $10 for a membership, none of which was made clear. Upon calling they agreed to refund the $10, but told me the expert who answered my question would not be paid if they refunded the $23. I would not recommend them as they are not upfront about charges. During my Q&A I was repeatedly given the option to talk with the expert via phone instead of email for an additional $24, but somehow they don't feel they need to be explicit about the other charges.
