    Scam!!! Only wanted telephone number from someone and willing to pay the $1.95. When the receipt showed online they added $19.95 plus two $1.95 charges. Called and tried to cancel immediately. Girl said they would take the 19.95 off but not the $3 charges (it was discounted she said from 1.95 each). On the phone for 15 minutes NEVER got report. After arguing with them about it I clicked on the "get report" it was an old phone number!!! That's all I wanted!! I'm now so annoyed I will have to contact my VISA to get the small amount removed. I will do this as I am so annoyed with Intelius and want everyone to know what a scam this is!!!!

    It is very difficult to cancel. The information you get online to do this isn't accurate. There isn't a "cancel" option under "My Membership" services. The "Help" in Intelius is no help, either. I finally found the way by accident. It's on the Intelius Premier Plus page with "My List", "Search", and "My Account" on the top header (I have no idea how I ended up on this. Sorry). The default page you land on in the Intelius Premier Plus is "My List" where there is options to search underneath it. You need to choose the "My Account" page link on the top header to get off that "My List" page. On the "My Account" page is "Membership Information" and under that is a blue link that lets you cancel. This is NOT at all what's on any instructions online. If you don't go out of your way to cancel, your credit card will be charged every month until you do. This is unacceptable to make it so difficult.

    My experience with Intelius was not good. In fact, I found the company without any integrity. When I sought the company out online they claim to be running a promotion of .95 and if they didn't find a result to my inquiry within 3 days they would refund the .95. Also if I canceled my membership within 7 days they would not charge the $29.95 monthly fee. This is what is stated, "You will only be charged a $7.95 one-time fee if you cancel your membership and do not use your first background check voucher before 02/05/2018." The misleading part of it is "am I not using the first time voucher with my order #** which was dated before 2/5/18?" The company wasn't able to complete my request at the end of three days so I canceled my membership promptly (within the 7 day period) and then I get charged the $7.95 at the end of the 7 days.

    I inquired as to why through Intelius Customer Service and I was informed that I agreed to being charged the one-time fee of $7.95. Yes, I did in fact agreed but this is the scam part. I did everything according to how it was explained and written, but Intelius didn't do their part. They were not able to complete my order (which I ended up resolving on my own-odd that they couldn't). They refund .95 to charge $7.95. One time voucher is pointless. Not reputable!!! Will not consider doing business in the future with them. Wished I had paid better attention to the bad reviews of this company before I signed up with them.

    I don't really understand all the bad reviews. Every one I've read basically said that the obligations were right there (just in small print which is no different than each and every company under the sun) and that they only read them AFTER signing up. Who does that? The funny part is after a friend showed me the site and I started digging around and looking into it (before finding any reviews) I noticed the free, unlimited 2 day trial. Unlike most Intelius gives the trial withOUT your credit card or any personal info which is also rare. I've been working on the free trials and I've looked up over one hundred people easy.

    I guess read before you stick your bank info in someplace. *I don't think the free trial is offered on the desktop but in the Google Play Store it automatically goes to it. One additional thing to know is after the trial ends, in order to get it again, you do need to install the app on another device. Small pain in the butt compared to what people here have been going through I think.

    I hate your guts for lying to me and all your customers. I wish I would of never used your company. I was told it was going to cost only $1.00. Got billed on my current statement for $1.95. The information was old and at least 15-22 years old. You are paying for nothing and bad information. Called today 1/19/2018 and wanted to cancel my membership and asked them if I would get a credit for the $1.95 and was told that there is NO cancellation of my account and that I would continue to be billed the $1.95 for using this service. But they said again if I use the service instead of the $1.00 charge only it would be $7.95 to look up one number. I said I wanted this $1.95 credit on my bill credited back to my credit card and they said it was NOT going to happen.

    The call center is in another country where you cannot understand them at all. Please never ever never ever never ever do business with Intellius.com because they lie to you from the start of the lookup of an address and phone number and to the end of the process. I have never been treated so bad in my life by an internet company. Society should not be a press a button and it's done kind of thing because life does not work that way and should not work that way.

    As many people stated, I also purchased a one time request. I received the confirmation email with the 7 days free trial of Intelius membership, which I did not requested. When I read it carefully, I found out that after my free trial expires, they will charge my card for 29.99 a month, but if I cancel it within 7 days and did not use their service during these 7 days, they will just charge me for 7.95 dollars. So, they charged my card for the service I did not even signed up for... How could this company even exist??

    1. Signed up to do a 1 search for .95 and the info provided was no better than what I found in 5-minutes of searching the web. 2. A week later received a charge for $21.95 for a Premier Plus Membership which I did not sign up for. When I contacted them said, "To get the special pricing you agreed to a year Premium Plus membership, the details which were presented at checkout" (in fine print, at bottom of page). They refused to refund the charge. What a shameful way to make money.

    I went to Intelius.com for a background check. I agreed to pay for one check at $19.95. They also signed me up and billed me for $49.95 for one month - without my permission. That is $19.95 + $49.95 for the one service. They then apparently lied to my credit card company and said I had signed up for a single check plus a month of checks.

    Intelius removed money from my bank account without my explicit knowledge or permission. There were absolutely no service or product rendered in exchange for the money Intelius removed from my account. After contacting Intelius several times to explain the details, Intelius terms of service would NOT return the money even though NO services were rendered. I made a small one time service purchase. Intelius states that a clause during checkout entitled them to continue to bill for NO additional request for service. The clause was not prevalent (hidden) because I was careful not to agree to or did I want any service contract throughout the initial purchase. Most companies, with a reasonable business model, would consider this overlooked mistake grounds for a full refund. Intelius has chosen to take the low road of hidden fees and contracts with a policy of not returning money for NO SERVICE RENDERED.

    This company's website leads one to believe you are only paying for this 1-time service, when in fact they will bill you $29.95 "membership". I did a reverse phone number search and their database is so bad... I received a name, but I know for a fact that the person has been dead for almost 10 years. This is a fraudulent operation that counts on you not reading the small print and then they just pocket your money. Disputing their fraudulent charge with PayPal did not work, but, if you used PayPal, you need to change your password immediately as it automatically cancels their "billing". Bottom line, AVOID, DON'T USE, BEWARE OF FRAUD! You can find better and honest service elsewhere.

    Like many other 1 star reviewers, this company's website leads one to believe you are only paying for this 1 time background check on a person, when in fact they will bill you $19.95 every month by not clearly stating that is what they are going to do. The option to NOT HAVE monthly billing is very difficult to find. So like other fraud type businesses in past, they make enough money by these overcharges... counting on busy people not noticing. They've billed me at least 6 times of $120 for NO SERVICE. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SCOUNDRELS. Call center is offshore and maybe even the owners are too.

    Do not use this people search company. They give you an option to get a report on someone for $6.95. I was fine with that then a few days later I found out they were going to charge my card $29.95 every month. I was able to find that out by going to another page and found that out in small print. I immediately cancelled the service and because I cancelled the service within 7 days they are going to charge my card an additional $7.95. They are sneaky. I bet many customers were being charged the $29.95 every month and they did not know it. Best to avoid this company big time for their shady advertising practice. I was very upset they tried to trick me.

    Retired officer and always looking out for my family, I turned to Intelius to perform a background check for my brother. The person was someone out of Florida. I authorized a one time fee of $14.95. The BOTCHED report came back on a person in New York. I emailed & complained, they said they would credit me a background check. Ok. Well I guess having a credit floating out there must mean you now have to maintain a membership fee of $19.95 per month. Not!!! I've contacted them to cancel the credit, and I want ALL of my monies back. Poor background check, and a scam!

    Do not waste your money or time on this site. I paid $49.95 for a run of the mill background check that has a lot of basic information that you can find for free on the internet. I really just needed to get a copy of my daughter's ex boyfriend's criminal record. I knew he had a criminal record since it is printed on her police report. The "Previous criminal record" box was clearly marked. I was at the police station with my daughter when the police told us that he had prior assault charges from years prior to this incident on his record. So I paid an extra 19.99 for a statewide and federal criminal background check.

    Nothing at all showed up! When I called customer service asking for my $ back they told me that they were sorry for my inconvenience but it is not their fault that the records were not yet posted in public records. I told her that that was total BS and that Intelius does not find accurate, up to date information in their databases. Their response was, "If someone gets something expunged it will not show up in their public records". I demanded my money back for the criminal check and the best that they offered me was a free background check for a future check. Excuse me, thank you for nothing because I WILL NEVER AGAIN USE THIS SITE!!!

    This one is easy… I paid $39.95 to find information about someone we were in court with. I had way more information already then Intelius offered. Some info was incorrect and they were huge gaps that were not addressed that I think should've been. For example, if someone has a job, has a college education, is married, etc. I found that out easily but it wasn't showing up on their website and they offered no information that I didn't already have. I was cautious to sign up for just the one look up and somehow found myself in the nightmare of continuing monthly billing for $29.95. I only needed one search. I'm not a private investigator. Therefore I recommend not using this company. They are not going to refund the money I spent for nothing.

Today, a month later, I have a charge on my credit card for $29.95 for which I NEVER asked for anything and never got an email saying that I did!     I purchased this service to do a background check. To verify if the info I was receiving was credible, I also checked mine and various family members to see what kind of info came up on them. SO much was incorrect. Addresses that they've never lived at, people they don't know, incorrect ages, but most startlingly wrong was my daughter's profile. Hers had all of my information attached to it. My schooling, my business and jobs were all associated with her name. None of her information was on her name search. This is a scam service. I wasted time and money on this site.

    I paid for their service for a phone look up and the additional fee for them to make a current check on the telephone numbers they provided. The total was $8.90. When I called the numbers they were disconnected. They could not be providing a current check. I tried to get my money refunded out of principle and the person they pay to represent them accent was so thick, I could not understand. Further, after a 5 minute conversation they do not EVER refund money. This is a bad company that has fake products and no guarantees.

    I used Intelius to complete a background check on a family member who needed help after being denied a job and apartment. The background report Intelius provided after paying $60 was inaccurate and incomplete. Not only did it include information for two people, same name, but different states, and not provide me a chance to identify which person I was seeking information for, but it said there was no criminal record. It found no arrest or conviction. Surprised, I contacted another company and found out that my family member DID have a criminal record and found the county that the charge originated in so we could contact them and correct the record. When I contact Intelius about the incorrect report, they didn't care and stated that they gave no refunds, even after acknowledging that they didn't provide the service agreed upon. RIP OFF. SCAM.

    I tried to get a reverse phone number name. They said I could get a one time question answered for 95 cents so I did that. They could not give me any information so I immediately cancelled any further interaction, received confirmation that my account was cancelled. Then they charged me $7.95 today. I called and they said I hadn't cancelled soon enough. They would not refund this amount. When I objected they said there was nothing I could do. I just don't see how an outfit like this continues to operate. Well, maybe I do - it's fools like me that subscribe. This is such a rip-off.

    I signed up for special for one search at .95. I get charged .95 plus tax for $1.03 which is fine. But then I see an additional charge for $32.38. I called and woman and she just kept reading off a script. I told her to stop and listen. There was no place that said you'd get charge a monthly fee of $32.38. In addition, the information was totally wrong and she said they are NOT responsible for the information they receive. So they can charge you for bogus information.

So I did the background check I wanted to do and immediately cancelled my membership and they still charged me a month of fees... I tried to get the money they stole back and they refused...     I signed up thinking it was a one time fee for a one time background check. They charged my account $39.95 and then charged my account a week later $29.95 and then each month for four months after that. I realized I was getting charged monthly when I never authorized or read that this would be a recurring fee. I called customer service and they were unable to refund me all payments. They said they could refund me only one payment and then after arguing with them more and more they finally refunded me three payments. After seeing hundreds of complaints about this company doing the same thing to customers I demanded they refund me every penny I spent. They refused and the customer service representatives just repeated themselves over and over again saying, "I'm sorry you feel that way but we can only refund three payments."

    They are scamming people and not clearly stating to their customers that this will be a recurring monthly payment. And I asked if this is a monthly payment why was I charged a week later after I initially signed up. The supervisor made some excuse about the initial payment was for the background check and the second payment was to start the subscription. Another way to scam people out of more money. I called my bank and filed a claim for the other two charges. This company is breaking the law and stealing people's money.

    The information is wrong, and when you call customer care, their response is they cannot correct it. They get their information from many sources, but they can't tell you where to go to tell them to correct it. I was told to go to the courthouse. It's wrong and I'm worried about fraud.

    I ordered a one time service to look up a number and this company automatically placed me on a recurring monthly service plan without my authorization. Something that should have cost 9.95, ultimately cost me over $149.00 (that is, if they refund me the last three charges as they said they would today). They have been billing me monthly since November 2016 and I just noticed it last month. I received a one time service. I haven't received any other service since that time, nor did I order any. I spoke to a supervisor and asked to speak to someone with more authority and was told, "The buck stops here." I was given this address to write for further refunds: Consumer Affairs, P.O. Box 4145, Bellevue, Washington, 98009-4145.

    The man I spoke to would not give me his full name. He said there was no phone number for the home office in Washington and that the customer service office is in India. He said his badge number was ** and called himself Bernard. Reputable companies are clear about what they are offering and charging their customers. I believe this company is knowingly misleading customers. They should be boycotted and sued. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT purchase their service! I've asked American Express to dispute the charges and I will continue to spread the word.

    They keep constant on credit activity. All new and derogatory information is presented through US Mail with a format that you can reply within the paperwork provided you. It is very easy to stay on top of credit activity giving you a chance to reply at the time the activity happens instead of years later when you are trying to get a loan or something like that.

    I did sign up for an account to find out some information on a person last July. I did not agree to or was made aware of the $29.95 automatic recurring fee that must have been in the fine print. Legit companies are upfront about their fees and do not slam you into a auto rebill without their permission. SCAM SCAM SCAM! Shame on you people! Of course there will be no refund, only legit business will offer you a refund if you are dissatisfied. NEVER SIGN UP WITH INTELIUS!!!

    Scary - Want to find out who used my credit car for intelius.com service! I just noticed there were 6 monthly charges from intelius.com on my credit card from last August. So I called them up, ask for the name and email, address, phone number associated with the account, intelius.com only disclosed the email address to me ** - I have no clue who the hell she or he might be. I asked for full refund and they only gave me one month back and, they closed that account - NO, I need them to help me find out who swiped my credit card and I need the scary charges refunded back to me.

    I created an account last week and used the service to find some information on a seller of a vehicle. Information was marginal in helping with my concerns. Last night I tried to sign into account but it would not take my password. Tried several times and it did not work. Used option to receive temporary password sent to my email, it never worked. Requested several times, still no email with password. Customer Service was closed which is stupid for a company this size, should be 24 hour service.

    This morning called CS and got a new temporary password but never got an explanation that explained why a temporary password was never sent by email when requested last night. Signed into website and website requested I assign a new password. Used one of the passwords that I tried to use last night and it told me I must use a new password, not this password because I had already used it. So I was trying to sign in with correct password last night but their website was not working correctly but they will not admit fault. I have wasted over 2 hours trying to resolve issues with this terrible company and website plus they stick you with fees that you must be aware of. You give you a cheap trial rate and then bill you after the fact for additional months. No early notice so you can cancel before trial ends. Stay away from this service.

    I purchased a one time request and a week later was charged more for whatever the stuff in fine print was. Please be careful with offers and fine print, even if it's one time look up. Please do not use this resource for any background checks. Seems like money making business. Customer service was of course good because they picked up calls but had no way of solving the problem. I wanted to completely deactivate this account, but the customer service could not do that for me. I could not even get this useless account off the system.

    I found my father listed on the Intelius site. It showed him living several places, in Michigan and other states, and that he is currently 95 years old and living in L'Anse, Michigan. WRONG! He never lived in Florida or in Tawas City, and he certainly is not currently 95 and living in L'Anse. He died 10 years ago! When I wrote to Intelius and told them how wrong their information was, I got a reply filled with circular logic and non-answers. Certainly there was no response that they would correct the problem, just reasons why they listed him - property sales, etc. I kept on telling them that he was DEAD, and that their site wants money for totally erroneous information. What's wrong with this "business"?

    I just discovered Intelius has been billing my credit card a monthly membership fee of $29.95 for the last 6 months. I called to get more information and was told the date the account was opened and the name of the person for whom the background check was done on. I did not recognize the name or email that was provided. I did not authorize anyone to use my credit card, the card was not lost, and it has remained in my possession. Upon reviewing my last 3 months of statements, this is the only unusual charge I found. I escalated my request to a supervisor and they refunded my account for 3 months which is the best she said she could do and said my case will be investigated. If they do not agree to refund all charges, what is my best course of action?

    I bought ONE report. I had a charge for $1.95 one month. Then a charge for $2.95. Then $29.95 for the next 11 months before I saw it. I realize it was my bad for not noticing it. I'm usually better than that. But it has been a really hectic year. I despise companies like this. They make money by charging people without their knowledge. There is some fine print that lets them get away with it. It's wrong and bad business practice. On top of that, the information they provided didn't help me find the person. Now I'm out over $300. WHAT A SCAM!!!

    This company is such a scam!!! They pull you in with the one time charge, then assume you want to charge $29.95 on your card for a premium monthly service that you NEVER agreed to, so when you review your statement you see this ridiculous charge call them on it, inform them you have not used their services since & then they say it's non refundable!!     They will make you think you are paying $50 for 1 report and then auto-bill you every month for 29.95. I specifically selected that I wanted 1 report and I was willing to pay extra to not have to deal with canceling and calling them, yet they billed me monthly anyway. It was a good 6 months before I realized it. They made $300 off me. This place is making a lot of money by misleading people. Extremely dishonest company. BBB is a complete sham as well, giving this company a 4 star review despite the 99% negative rating from the reviewers.

    I requested a report on intelius.com. I specifically selected the option that was supposed to be $49.95 for a single report. When the credit card information came up the bill said 49.95. Then I got charged another 19.95 for membership on my receipt for my recurring membership. The recurring membership cannot be avoided, and its cost is not included in the cost of the report.     I'm 87 years old and I had my caregiver help me to try and get information on one of my daughters that I didn't know the whereabouts of. I authorized him to use Intelius.com for a one-time lookup for the $1.97. What we didn't know was that I was going to be charged $19.95 each month for a premium membership. Because I am 87 I didn't catch it on my bank statement for 10 months but when I did I went to my bank, who very helpful and filed a dispute. I did try talking to the c/s dept. at Intelius but couldn't understand the person I was talking to because they had an strong Indian accent.     Not enough research is being done for sites like these. If you try several of these sites, you'll find that one has what you're looking for and the others don't! How did that one find it and others didn't.     When I signed on with Intelius, it said that I would be charged .95 cents and if I didn't change this before the free-trial was over I would be charged $7.95. Well when I signed on for them to take the .95 cents I also checked for there to be no more charges after the free-trial period was over. Well, they charged me anyway and when I called they said that this was something that I agreed too when they charged me the .95.

    It's outrageous for Intelius to charge $19.95 a month to do a name search and then have to pay another $1.95 to "verify" an address with utility bills. An address where the person lived for 8 mo. did not show up and there was a water/sanitation bill in their name. To confirm the accuracy of this search company, I did a search on a relative and found inaccurate information.

    I have used Intelius for several years, but on March 8th 2016 I paid for another month of service and then received an email from Intelius claiming since I did not pay my account was cancelled. I called them and several of their reps told me my card was denied so it was cancelled. Payments for apps are made to Google, so why is Intelius attempting to charge my card? My payments were taken by Google Play for Intelius. Google claims my account was fine and that they did receive payment and that the problem is with Intelius and not Google.

    Intelius claims just the opposite, it's Google's problem. The monthly fee was drawn from a federal benefits account managed by the United States Treasury. I have notified them and complaint forms are in the mail today for me to sign. This is rotten customer service to say the least, on Intelius's part. I was raised to know that you don't take money for a service and then not provide that service, and then play stupid on the phone, refusing to look into the matter. Beware of this company "Intelius" unless you have money to throw at shady businesses like them. I will provide copies of the transaction history and complaint forms if this site management would like some proof of what I'm writing here.

    I chose to use this service to print out a criminal background for court purposes. I wanted to approach an attorney with the info in hand. The individual I was searching has fourteen arrests AND convictions, including domestic violence and two felony drug charges. They also have a previous marriage and divorce. Intelius charged me nearly forty-five dollars and turned up NOTHING. I asked for a refund, and they said that they are unable to give refunds. This is a terrible company that takes huge amounts of money and is unable to provide an accurate product!

    I was very unsatisfied with my experience. I purchased what I thought would give me access to multiple documents that I wouldn't be able to easily obtain on my own. Everything in the "report" were tidbits of information that I had already found just doing a quick Google search. I did not have access to any public record documents.     I have recently purchased bulk searches through Intelius for background checks. The searches results have been at best of marginal help. The results have been equivocal in my opinion and when you request any further info there is always a charge despite previously buying over $700 in prepaid services. It does not offer any value, in my opinion, for the amount of money paid. After calling the customer service department all I get is a transfer to a voicemail, nobody ever called back despite multiple attempts. I think they are very happy to make a sale but do not stand behind their product and provide no customer service - I have had absolutely NO RESPONSE from the company. IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY AND NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

    I found out I was charged a membership fee I never ordered, only a report for $2.95 and was charged another $70.00 without my knowledge or permission. My bank rep listened in and took notes. I told the company to cancel any membership as I only agreed to pay for the report and the next month they charged me another $19.95 so my bank listened in and took notes when I called and was reimbursed the $19.95 but not the $70.00 when I also cancelled my credit card and was sent a new one by my bank. A few months went by and I didn't notice any charges again by this company so I thought the matter was taken care of once and for all.

    Then I discovered yesterday they managed to charge my new credit card without my permission or knowledge for another 14 months at $19.95. I never even visited their website again either so my bank again took notes as I called and reimbursed me for 2 of the 14 months and said they will back me up with the notes and as a witness if I decide to press charges against this company for fraud which I am working on now.

    I demanded they pay back the money they stole by using the credit card information I never gave them but they were very rude and even refused at first to cancel the account again until I received a email this morning stating they did cancel my account but nothing about reimbursing me for the money they stole from my bank account. The representative also refused to give me the company's physical address and only a P.O. box number. I am told they may have taken enough funds over 14 months to warrant charges for grand theft which I'm trying to have done and will keep this website updated as to what happens in the near future with the police department and possibly civil court with an attorney since this is the third time I had to go through this with this company.     I saw their ad for people search. My husband is a disabled veteran and has suffered memory loss since his heart surgery. The veteran administration needs the dates of his prior marriages and divorces before they will list his status as married to me. So I clicked on site ad and it said one time charge of 2.95. And all the info pulled up was just his name with several other names. No info was given, date of birth was even wrong.

    I have never used this site or authorized anyone else to use my card for this site yet somehow this company charged my credit card for two months of a bogus subscription. I have seen another complaint where this has happened to someone else as well. Not only do I think this company is hacking people's credit cards but when I emailed them about it threatening to pursue them for fraud through the government they told me they could not discuss my situation through email... That to me shows they know they are being fraudulent since they do not want anything left in writing. I do not want to speak to someone who doesn't speak English very well and I want my money back onto my account that they hacked.     They gave all of the partial information on the person I was investigating... They took my credit card information and forced a membership on me. Once they had to credit card it stated that I didn't give them enough info... THEY ALREADY FOUND this person! Then refused to send me a cancellation... Also it is a Foreign Customer service!!!

    This company promises that they will provide you with accurate reports. That is why I spent $59.90 for a report. They will not accept your purchase unless you agree to a membership, which I was not interested. I get a totally inaccurate report. I myself had paid a lot of money suing this individual and receiving a Judgement. I paid for the Judgement as well as the Writ of Execution and that record was not included in the report. Why would I spend this money for a report that isn't accurate? This company, in my opinion, is not reputable. Takes your money and does not provide results!

    I really like the consistency and speed of Intelius. My only negative is when you query the name of an individual you are doing a background on and get multiple names. This requires me to sometimes have to purchase 2 or 3 backgrounds until I finally confirm, through the process of elimination, the correct person. I cannot bill my clients for additional backgrounds in my attempt to eliminate the "wrong" persons. This sometimes is frustrating to me. That being said I would rather continue utilizing Intelius rather than change to a less reliable company.

    I ordered a background report. They try to trick you and if you just need one report, you are automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription. (Honestly, who would need several reports a month?!) No, matter, I thought, I'll purchase the one and then cancel. However they then STILL charge you after you cancel!!! If you cancel too late, you are billed the monthly amount. If you cancel too soon, they charge a different fee. Also, the service is extremely rude. I was asked for my info and when I was looking in my bag for the card I used (half a minute) she said if I couldn't find it she couldn't help me. She was rude the entire time. Horrible company, horrible service. And the report wasn't even accurate.

    I wanted to find just one person, there was an offer for that for only .95 cents. I used it, and took nearly 3 days to get a result, that all it said was "Jim N/A". No other information could be provided. I cancelled immediately. This was October 20, 2015. I just got a text today thanking me for my business, and they charged me $7.95! I called questioning about it, and they said if I cancelled within the first 5 days of membership, which I DID, I would not be charged further. He said I cancelled today, 8 days later... NOT!     Please do not believe that all the information posted on this website that you are paying for is correct. They have mixed my name and information with someone else. I have never lived in LaPorte Indiana. I have never worked for the Indiana State Government. I have never had those three phone numbers listed. The emails they have listed as mine are not. If this company is going to build their business and reputation on providing correct information, they should first make sure that it is correct. Associating my name and business to this profile could be damaging to my personal and business reputation.

    When I asked them to opt my name and information out of this website, they stated that I would need to fax over a copy of my driver’s license. They said I could cross out the photo and driver's license number, however, they needed all the other information including my birthdate. Newsflash... I should not have to prove my information is correct. You are the one charging the public for a service. It's your job to make sure that the information provided is correct before you publish it online. You will be held responsible for any damages I incur because of your false associations to me.

    I wanted to run a background check on someone I know had a long criminal history. I found the person's name, birth date, and place he lived when I typed the name into Intelius' search bar. I clicked the name and said I wanted more info. A background check. I paid the $50 for a nationwide check. It came back with no records. I even types in his SSN. Again, no records. Completely blank. I know they have some records because it showed his name, age, and places he lived before I clicked background check.

    Anyway here is when it gets worse. I call Intelius to ask why they don't have any records. The guy says, "Because he must not have any." I know he has records. So I said, "No problem. Since you provide me with zero information, just refund my $50." And after reading the other comments you can guess his response. He says, "No refund. Just because the report is blank doesn't mean you get a refund." I told him I have used their service on and off for over 10 years and I have never received a blank report on someone I know has records. He didn't care and said, "Sorry, no refund." Bye Intelius. I won't be using your service for the next 10 years.

    I previously used Intelius with no problem at all however I recently decided to enroll again and this time around has been nothing but aggravation. I created an account and provided a credit card for payment. They charged my card and then reversed it. They tell card has a "general decline." Called credit card... no decline on their end. Called back, was told only option is to create a new account. I have done this 4 times.. no help from customer service. I just told Chris (a supervisor) "something is wrong with your system - this is my 4th try". His response - "create another account". My response "NO - something is wrong, can you fix it or should I look for service elsewhere." His response - "Sorry, create another account." I just cannot understand how no one there can help me or figure what is happening! So frustrating! I would love to use the service but I guess I have to look for a different company.

    These guys are very good. I did not sign up for their services, only used one time to find information on an individual. I DID NOT GIVE THEM MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND THEY CHARGED IT TO MY CARD. The deal was I could use it for one time for $.95 but after seven days, if I did not cancel, they would charge my account $29.95 per month for their services.     I ordered a one time background check, DECLINED to sign up for an account. I don't know where they snuck it in, but they signed me up for some premier monthly account thing. When I called them to find out what happened, they said I had signed up for an account (unbeknownst to me) when I bought that one background check and that I had to cancel it within 7 DAYS to not get charged. Demanded a refund, got shot down, demanded a supervisor, got nowhere, yadda yadda yadda, typical B.S.

    Ultimately I paid about $60 for one background check (which, admittedly was pretty thorough thus the 2 stars vice 1) because of the unmitigated douchebaggery contained within this company. Go elsewhere with your business, these guys suck. Makes me sad too because I'm from Seattle and these guys are from one town over so I thought I'd go with the home team. An extra "screw you guys" for making my hometown look bad.

    Searched in May 2012 on their web site. Little did I know that I was being charged for over 2 years. It was on a prepaid cc so no statements which means I never knew! So then they were able to charge my account $19.95. Over $700 hard earned dollars to this company that has several class action suits for the very thing I complained about.     I tried to purchase a phone report and then later a background report. The phone report snuck through with an additional premier membership at a cost of $19.95. Then I tried to order a $49.95 background report and the charge was Klein declined so I used a gift card I had and it was declined. When I called Intelius to tell them to cancel everything except for the $4.95 phone report, they said everything else has been declined. But when I checked with the gift card bank, the charge had indeed gone through. And Intelius said that charge did not get to go through it all. They said it was declined. Now I have to waste my time following up on this charge to make sure I get credited. I told them I don't want any stupid reports. Take everything back. I don't want to deal with you annoying people.

    Background checks are highly inaccurate and incomplete. I ran a background check on myself and a lot of information that I know to be true was not included as well as dozen or so background checks that I ran on potential employees were very inaccurate as well that was verified by the potential employees also. A big waste of money and time.

I am forced to do checking on my own and spend much time turning "straw into gold."     The site is misleading showing that your membership is discounted and will last a month but do not disclose up front that you will be charged PER use. Then, when you go to cancel, they hit you for a smooth 7.95 fee even when you haven't used your background report. The whole thing is just poorly set up. Then you have to wait 1-3 days for them to deliver a reverse phone lookup to your email??? Pfff, please. Why didn't I use Spokeo... I used it before without this much trouble. Intelius was not a wise decision for me. Hopefully, you didn't suckered for more than $10 bones.

    On 6/5/2015, I did a search on myself using Intelius. This company reports that I have or am: Multiple aliases (5) and "verifies" (by declaration) that these "people" are really me; Currently living in two different states - Tennessee and Kentucky; Studied at Trevecca Nazarene University, although I have never once attended this school; Worked at a company called Charter Resource Group LLC in Tennessee, a company unknown to me; Worked at Trevecca Nazarene University, although I have never worked for them or studied there; Lived in many different Tennessee cities although I have only lived in two cities here; Lived in Kentucky and Florida, although I have never lived in any of these states; Has listed more than two DOBs and shows me as an Aries, which I'm not; Has published phone numbers and addresses associated with me and my "aliases", which I don't have.

    One of the aliases has a criminal record - something I do not have; Has listed almost all of my relatives and associates them with these other "aliases"; And associates "me" with my actual Linkedin page. This company claims they are passive aggregators of public information, which is confusing since their information is so declarative and presents as accurate. NOWHERE on the report is a disclaimer - NOWHERE on the initial search is a disclaimer. There is nowhere on the site that explains from where this information is gleaned or HOW this company created these associations. What's more interesting is, I did a similar search on myself on Spokeo's website and found myself more accurately presented during an initial search. Spokeo did not list me with multiple aliases, addresses or DOBs.

    What Intelius is doing is GROSS NEGLIGENCE and I am being harmed. Many people use this search site and they do not attempt to manage or VERIFY the information they publish although they present it as "verified" or "factual" - i.e., tied to public records. I do NOT understand why Intelius does not clarify from where they get this information or how they determined someone has an "alias" or multiple aliases, OR EVEN how they associate different DOBs and DIFFERENT IDENTITIES with a person. I do not want INTELIUS publishing ANY information about me given that they are publishing FALSE, INACCURATE INFORMATION - which, in some places, may be libel.
