I was trying to find my grandson. I found it very interesting the many topics you ran through. Most of the listing about him I recognize, he had moved a lot and I had no idea where he was. Obviously, he does not keep in contact. I sent a letter to the last known address you gave me, no response. (I think he got the letter.) I had received a large check that came here for him, (he lived here six years), but my letter got no response so I returned the check today. Thanks for the information you supplied. If I ever want to find someone I will use you again.
I get all the information I need in my law practice to locate witnesses, answer discovery questions, find heirs, and the like. I am very pleased with Intelius. Using the website is not a problem, even though the app was nice. Only once in recent weeks was there a person (an heir) I could not find using her name, although when I got a phone number from her aunt, I was able to find this person. I would recommend this program to every lawyer.
Marisa was very helpful when I spoke to her about closing my account. When I had to navigate the various menus on the website, she was patient and respectful. While I do not see myself using Intelius again soon, my experience with the rep makes it more likely I will return. Need more folks like her!
I haven't been able to access my reports for the last 2 days. I can reach the site but it never stops processing my request to see my reports. Looks like an infinite loop to me. Please get back to me because at this point I'm paying you for nothing.
Thank you for reaching out. We appreciate honest feedback — it allows us to do our job better. We’re sorry to hear that you experienced technical issues during your search, but it does look like the issue has been resolved and you've been able to complete searches on your account since then. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

If you need background infos to find a classmate or find calling parties where you have only the phone # it is very useful. Thanks - Moreover you also See due to the phrase: You should know the enemy.
I better not get charged for after the trial, just numerous reasons but first and foremost that you wouldn’t get back with me after me writing you saying that I could not get into my account… Like I didn’t even get to use any of the trial so most definitely I’m not paying any charges. I tried to cancel but I can’t cancel if I can’t sign on.. Extremely disappointed you.
Hi Jennifer,
We’re happy to clarify our billing system for you. Our users must check a box authorizing Intelius to charge their card as described in our Terms of Use before signing up. This does include automatic renewal of any membership that is not cancelled before reaching the end of trial period.
A senior member of our team will be reaching out to ensure that any of your concerns regarding your specific membership renewal are resolved.
Sincerely,Intelius Support
For no reason I experienced difficulty signing in to Intelius. The young lady worked with me and we discovered I had turned on VPN in Norton which proved to be the problem. Well done Intelius, well done young lady!
First, let me say Marco is a great asset to your company. I was frustrated about a charge to my account that I didn’t authorized and Marco was very knowledgeable & understanding in helping correct this problem. Honestly, I have never been on a call where I felt listened too and made to feel comfortable speak about a problem. Marco, keep that same attitude because I was having a bad day and you definitely made it much brighter. Thank you again and many blessings to you!
I've been paying 13 or 14 dollars a month to Intelius to have a service whenever I want to look up a phone number or a name. This was good for a while then the last person I talked to from Intelius told me I didn't need the app. But now I haven't been receiving the info I feel I should get when I search someone or a phone number. Doesn't work anymore.
We're sorry to hear our service has not been working for you. You may need to update your version of the Android operating system. If you update your operating system, you should be able to use the app without any problems. We try to use the newest technologies to give our users the best experience in our app. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

I kept getting these strange calls at least 20 times a day and then I was getting notes at my house. I used these guys to look up this number. Went to the police because it got to the point that I was scared to leave my house. The guy is now in jail for stalking me. Thank you Intelius.
I spent over two hours yesterday trying to get into my account to read a report I ordered last February. I had gotten some kind of notice saying I could read the report for 50% off. I was not willing to do that. The young lady from customer support tried to help me, but to no avail. I am 87 years old, hard of hearing, legally blind, and not very computer literate. The pictures I was supposed to identify (bicycles, bridges, traffic lights, crosswalks) completely defeated me and Intelius had no alternative method of gaining access to QA report.
I think the person trying to help me was out of her depth. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold for about 20 minutes, and then was told the supervisor was not available. On May 19 I called with the same question and was told I could receive a hard copy of the report in the mail, but it would take about one week. I have yet to receive that hard copy. Yesterday, the representative told me I would be receiving an email with the report in about 48 hours. I am not holding my breath. I tried to fill out the survey you sent, but It would not "submit". I do not think I have ever been as disappointed in a company as I am in Intelius.
Thank you for reaching out. We apologize that you had a frustrating experience with our site, but we want to let you know that we’re committed to making things right. A senior member of our member care team will contact you privately to help resolve this issue as soon as possible.

I called because I was billed on the 6th day of your 7 day trial. I had already canceled though. I got my Credit Card statement and the 2 charges for 4/20 (4.34 and 1.03) and the 32.60 on 4/26 were on it. Oscar waived the 4/26 charge and the 5/25 charge and retroed back my cancelation like I had called in. Thank you so much for having CS person as good as Oscar working for you.
I thought the marketing was that I’d get to see MY profile of my web searches but it was just a few addresses. What I did see was interesting, and I looked up a few people. I couldn’t bear the cost ongoing because I wasn’t using it each month. I’m interested in the protection plan however. Didn’t know about that. Maybe later.
Tyler was so helpful and patient with me. I am 80 years old and computers are so frustrating for me. He explained how my system works and was successful in fixing the problem so I could use my account with Intelius. You have a great employee!
This is a great source! I haven’t seen my dad or spoken to him in almost 30 years and Intelius helped me out on finding him. So he is alive and well!! I even found a phone number so that I can reach out to him! So thank you Intelius for making that happen! I give you all 5 stars!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had been trying to locate a long lost friend for months but was unable to find him. I signed up with Intelius and with the information that was made available, I was able to get in touch with him. I found out that he is alive and well and we are now in contact with one another. Thank you so much Intelius. What a great service. Sue
I paid the monthly subscription that provided unlimited searches. After three days of use, my account was locked without a warning or an online explanation. Customer Service stated that the account was locked due to over 200 searches in that timeframe and they they suspected fraud. I was researching over 130 classmate addresses that were from 1991 (30 years ago). Each classmate requires multiple searches to find the right person. I was told that it would require 24 to 48 hours to re-enable the account (which seems excessive just to flip a byte in a database field). It has now been over 72 hours. And I was just told that I'd just have to wait to receive and email from an unnamed party. An alternative service (and relinquishing the Intelius subscription fee) seems to be my only recourse.
Dear Don,
I’m sorry to hear you have not received a response from our Terms of Service Department yet regarding your locked account. From time to time, we have encountered suspicious and unusual use of our services which can put consumers and Intelius at risk. Our system automatically flags and suspends accounts showing such activity. We put these extra precautions in place to help keep our customers safe. A review of your account will be conducted today and a member of our team will reach out to you shortly.

Your agent helped me resolve my concern which was duplicate member ship related to two email addresses. My only concern is that she spoke very quickly with a slight accent (?Spanish) so I did need to ask her to slow down and repeat several times. But she quickly resolved my problem.
I find the friends I was looking for. I check on myself, but I don't believed all the relatives you showed, 4 of them are the people who we bought the house from, and the other 2 are the ones we sold the house to and my husband is gone for 10 years and doesn't showed as deceased.
I wanted to look up these SPAM RISK telephone numbers that keep calling my house landline. It was very helpful. The woman that I spoke with was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful. She is an ASSET to her company.
I had paid for a report but was unable to download it without being asked to pay for it a second time. The person who helped me during my phone call to Intelius was pleasant and professional. I was directed to try to see the report in my account and it was available.
I signed up but realized the report/information did not work for my purpose. I forgot to canceled and was charged the monthly fee for two months. I finally realized and called customer support and the agent was very friendly and refunded both months that were charged.
I loved this company for looking up people. I was dating online, and one has to be really careful with all these bad people and scammers. Of all of the other people look up companies, this has been the best I used. I recommended it to anyone. If you don't need their services anymore...is very easy yo cancel... just called them up.
Signed up for 30 days...After 3 days could no longer login...Called customer service and was told they were having some issues and within 24 hours it would be resolved...30 hours later still not able to log in..Message claims email was sent but was never received..Tried several times.

I had to e-mail customer service 2-3x before I got my first response. And that first response took almost 2 weeks! Very frustrating when someone needs access to the platform but can't access it. At the very least they could've told me to wait patiently but I didn't even get a response.
Hi Edward,
We apologize that you had a frustrating customer service experience. We do our best to make support of our customers and associates a top priority. Staffing at our customer service centers has been impacted by COVID-19, and as a result, there have been delays in email response time and our customer support lines.

I have used this service to run background checks on several people. They provided complete information without making me wait over and over like most sites. They are also up front about charges/cost for services. Definitely worth the price!
When I have to use it. Every once in awhile I have to track people down. Comes up every once in awhile, as I do skip tracing on occasion or helping find people who have run off with cars and we need to find their location to get the repo done. Or if someone can't find a loved one, etc. I recommend your service to everyone that needs stuff like this done. Don't currently have a need for it, but I'm sure life will drag me back into it. Thanks for all that you do!
Very fast and accurate lookup with no time lost as to obtaining data base countdown like other lookup services. Adjoining report gave factual insight i to pertinent information relevant to the original seat h.
Ruthy was very helpful in helping me get a refund for a misunderstanding with the trial. I was shown a cancel by date of the 28th as corresponding with the email I was billed on the 27th. This was reversed according to her and I am thankful for that. Thank you for your assistance once again!
Chris
I have been paying for this site since 2017. It worked ok until they done away with the app and at that time I stopped my subscription on my iPhone which normally stops them from taking out the money. NOT WITH THIS COMPANY. Every time I try to reset my password they will not send the link, when I emailed them they promptly took out more money from my account. I have called multiple times and somehow always get disconnected. I am about to just change banks so they can't pull any more money from it, because I don't know what to do. They have charged me 3 times in the last 30 days, every time I email their help center they send another charge through. Someone needs to stop these people
We appreciate your feedback, and we’re sorry that you had a negative experience with our billing system. In order to complete the enrollment process, each user agrees to Intelius’s billing terms. I paid them $24.86 + $3.99. I used it just for a few mins and my access to the Intelius account was banned. I am trying to login to my account and getting the same message again and again "Something went wrong, please try again". I paid you a amount for a month. why did you blocked my account in just a few mins? It means your advertisements and services are total scam? To lead the people to buy your services and then ban their account?
Stumbled into a vast [treasure trove] of information never imagined. I really was just curious what was out there on me. Massive - WOW. Not really needing this kind of info. I've canceled my account. But what an informative experience. Thanks.
Mark
Had a legal issue and found myself needing some information which I found promptly through this service. As I genuinely don't need this type of information often enough to keep a membership but if I did, I'd have no problem continuing to use this service.
For $30/month I should be able to get into my account more easily. Anytime I’ve tried to login it says my password is in correct. When I try to do password recovery, I never get the email to reset so I have to call the 800# to have it reset.
Thank you for reaching out. We apologize that you experienced technical issues attempting to login to your account. We want to let you know that we’re committed to making things right. A senior member of our member care team will contact you privately to help resolve this issue as soon as possible.

I CALLED TWICE TODAY, AFTER TRYING TO DO A PHONE LOOK-UP WITH MY $29.95 MEMBERSHIP WHICH I BELIEVED TO BE A "FULL" MEMBERSHIP. Anyway, I first spoke with a young lady name Padi, who was very helpful an offered me a $14.95 fee effective 3/3/2021 which would be a truly free subscription, including phone look ups. She said she'd send a confirmation email and I checked and it hadn't shown up yet, and I went back to log in, when I got a pop-up on my screen offering a trial for $4.95, so I went thru the steps to sign up for that, and finally got a message that an account with that email already existed.
So I called again and got a charming and delightful young lady name "Lisa", from somewhere in NE Iowa, who was patient and extremely helpful, in spite of the fact that I'm a horrid typist and while I'm on the phone have to typed one handedly, and she was kind and helpful and displayed a wonderful sense of humor and brought a ray of sunshine into a dreary afternoon for me. She's certainly a keeper and hopefully you have bigger things in store for her.
I retired 10 years ago after a 38 year career as a human resource executive, so I think I'm a pretty good judge of people and personalities, and Lisa's a winner! Not to take anything away from Padi, but I think, from my experience Lisa would be a perfect role model for the general population of customer support & service folks, and not just with Intelius, but I spend a lot of time on-line and have dealt with and/or hired probably hundreds of them so I'm not just blowin' smoke. She's the real deal, and I wish nothing but the best for Lisa and for your organization. Sorry for the long message, but she made it worth the time. Thanks for listening.
Dan
Generally very helpful, but sometimes there are inaccuracies with dates of residencies and telephone numbers not very reliable. Would be great to have relatives identified as spouse, brother, sister, etc.
I am not finding out anything at all. It keeps reporting that didn't find anything. I haven't found out anything I didn't already know. Phone numbers aren't in service, not saying where anyone really is. I'm just disappointed.
We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with your report. We gather our information from numerous public sources. Consequently, this does present the possibility of false positives, and more than one individual with the same name and basic information may match up with other records. We guarantee that we will search every database available to us; however, there are some cases in which the information may not be 100% accurate
Respectfully,
Intelius Support
I purchased Intelius to find property owners for buyers that were interested in purchasing their properties. Intelius was by far the best source of information relating to the property owners, as it had the most in depth information on each contact that I looked up. I will definitely continue to use Intelius as my go-to source.
This was a good service. Most of the information was accurate, some was not. I did have to deal with your customer services and they were great, very friendly and knowledgeable about my issue. All in all a great service. Thank you.
I have experienced multiple incidents with phones that are no longer searchable. I'm not sure if they are spook phone numbers and/or If I have been blocked from these searches. However I do find your program very helpful and I think it's an amazing tool to have and keep me and my family safe. I truly appreciate this program.

I paid to receive inaccurate, way out of date information. I paid for a computer to produce a PDF of aforementioned information. Now I need to find some more people whose number I need, to try to make this all at least somewhat worth it.

Lisa was knowledgeable, articulate, helpful, patient, professional, and courteous. She helped greatly by thoroughly answering questions and providing guidance. She was absolutely terrific! Intelius is lucky that Lisa works for them! She's the best. Thanks so much.
Sometimes I can't understand the representative's English but lucky for me, today, I got Dominic. He spoke very good English. He was kind and professional and gave real customer service which is rare to find. An Asset to your company. Thank you, Dominic.
My customer service rep was very professional and accommodating. I had been with Intelius for some time but unfortunately had to cancel the service. The rep offered me another alternative and I told him presently I could not do that but I appreciated the concern. I highly recommend this company.
While I'm extremely unhappy with Intelius, Lisa M, employee ID. **, was extraordinarily professional and understanding. If Intelius begins to change their method of operations and/or begins to offer other services, I will be sure to reconsider using Intelius only because Lisa was such a great employee.
I spoke with Tim, in customer service, and I was very impressed with his personal service in satisfying my personal request. His empathy, personality, professionalism and overall knowledge serves him well. He is Excellent in his demeanor, and I consider Tim to be the Best of the best in his service to myself and others. I personally consider him to be a tremendous asset to your company. This pleasant gentleman deserves a Hefty Raise since I, the customer, is supposed to be always right. RIGHT? Thank you Tim. You are the Greatest in how you related your empathetic response to my request! Thank you again. Allen **
Updated on 11/11/2020: The company offered me a refund, very promptly I might add. However that offer came with a request to update my previous review from negative to positive. Please stop selling your bad reviews for refunds. Make corporations cater to us, the consumer, by affecting their bottom line with real reviews from real customers and their experience.
Original Review: Unfortunately, Intelius is a total scam. They play with word and deceive you into thinking you just paid 22$ for a month of background checks. The truth is you just paid a refrigeration fee for a whole lot of wrong or fake information. This is my experience and Intelius will even tell you most likely their data is wrong and not to hold them accountable for it, per their terms and conditions. Information is readily available for free from tons of online site. But intelius tricks you into thinking you might get genuine or more info than those other sites for a fee.
Within 30 seconds of making my initial purchase for what was described to me as full background checks, I knew I was scammed as the intelius site would not give me the information I was paying for, without paying MORE. 4.99$ for phone number info, 5.99$ for email address info and so on. Your initial investment gets you nothing more than that feeling you get when you lost a bet or got swindled. Nowhere on their site or during the purchase experience was I presented a notice saying I would have to pay more to get background info than the 22$ I already paid for “full background” checks.
I requested to cancel all services and requested a refund within 5-15 minutes of signing up. No response yet, however I know what they are gong to say...."So sad, so sorry, so long sucka." Also, if you think most of these reviews on this site are real, you better look elsewhere. No way is someone satisfied or thrilled like the reviews will read with Intelius’s deceitful, false info, bait and switch, pay to play, subscription with no refund based sales and operations model. Sorry Consumeraffairs.com.

Intelius will claim to only charge you a one time charge of $0.95 but they will include in small font that they will charge you $30 a month without notifying you. They won't give you any type of notification of these charges except in your bank account! Every company I've dealt with online send receipts through email. Almost seems like they want you to forget you're paying for it! 3 months of charges that I was never notified of! If I purchase the package for 1 phone number lookup, why would you auto subscribe me for unlimited lookups?

Intelius was easy to use, and searched an incredible number of records in a very short period of time. Accurate, very reliable, and my search found the person I was looking for just like “magic”! I was definitely impressed, and would use their service again.
Most of the information I received was incorrect or not mine. Did not give me any info I couldn't find anywhere else for free. Total scam. I want my money refunded immediately. Very misleading stating criminal records possible.

I gave all the info Intelius asked for. I wanted the report. SCHARIE walked me thru signing up with PayPal... All seemed to go well but at the final point pay pal rejected payment.. Neither of us knew why... But this young woman did a fantastic job< trying to help. I commend her. She deserves a raise>.
The young man I spoke to today, was the most helpful agent I have ever spoken to!!! Give him a raise!!! Most reps I have talked to have either been rude or complacent with the job. Your rep felt that he needed to help me rather than had to help me. A true gentleman. Thank you!!!
I spoke with the nicest, knowledgeable and kind customer service person. I wish Intelius could clone her. :) I think you should note: sadly, Patricia ** and Ellen ** have passed away.... You should bring your information up to date. I have lived at this address for 21 years and am on the Board for this community and that is why I have this information to send and share for your company.
I had been overbilled and had ordered email, and phone numbers, plus the directory. They bundled it into one and saved me money plus the overpayment that I made was refunded. I already liked y'all's service but this made it extra special to me. Thank you once again. Jacki **.
Most the information returned is irrelevant and with many inaccuracies. Too much information about third parties, which is also irrelevant. It looks they want to fill out a long report but made of with no relevant information. I paid a month to get information on one person and myself. Incredibly my data doesn't even show up, as if I don't exist. A rip-off. I definitely do not recommend.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
Terrible information...total ripoff. Most details were not about person I was checking. Details were wrong, dated, incomplete. Don't waste your money, it's a scam. Price includes only what you can find on your own, any additional (though I doubt they would provide any more) is additional charge.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
Hidden fees everywhere!!!! You must read everything before buying this or you will be sorry. First, Intelius site is about the worst I've seen. You make the purchase and then they charge you for everything you look at. Please don't forget to set the auto renewal to off or you will be charged again. I thought they only charged month to month, I was wrong. Please go elsewhere.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
BUYER BEWARE. Purchased "Background Check" $39.95, then was offered "Property & Neighborhood Report" $14.95 to give me additional information about person I was doing background search on. It does not. Bought both. Message on screen says reports are good for 30 days. Thinking I wasn't going to be charged in another 30 days, I thought I had some time to consider. 7 days later I was charged for $29.95 "Intelius Premier Plus". Disputed with my credit card company.

My cousins informed me that Intellius had added six additional years to my age. Additionally they indicated that I only had a high school education; I have an advanced degree. I wrote them and customer informed that I can my name removed from their reports. She maintained that they cannot change their information because it is collected from various public agencies. This indicates that their information is not always accurate which this not a trustworthy or reliable company. If a customer needs accurate information he or she should avoid using this company.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
After using several other sites in comparison, I have found Intelius is lacking in information. Several searches utilizing the Premier Account with my friends revealed limited and outdated information. Phone number, previous addresses, and one or two family members was all I could gather. A background report only contained traffic violations. Other sites contain plenty more updated info.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
I was just looking for some basic information and decided to try Intelius since they had a 7 day free trial, which stated my account would not be charged until the end of the 7 days unless I cancelled. I searched myself first just to see if the information was accurate. I found other than basic info they charge additional fees so within 1 hour I cancelled my account. The next morning I checked my bank account and Intelius had charged my account $29.95. I called the number listed on their site and reached a very polite rep. She told me that yes my account had been cancelled but that I did have 1 report and that the charge was for that report not the membership. So apparently you pay a membership fee and then for each report there is an additional fee. So my 7 day free trial cost me $30. I also tried another background checking site which did not offer a free trial but I paid $27 and got all the reports I wanted for 1 month with no additional cost.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
I was searching for a phone # and it stated the cost was $0.97. After entering my credit card info, it charged $0.97 plus another $6.97 and it set me up for an ongoing report that automatically charges my card every month. I canceled the membership and tried to call cust serv about the additional charge but couldn't reach anyone. Couldn't find a way to reach customer service on the website either. What a complete scam!!
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
I canceled my membership on January 10th and they still charged. They reopened my membership and charged me anyway. I called that customer service number and no one answers. Their website should be shut down. I calling the BBB to get them closed down. They are a horrible company. You have been warned.
Sincerely,
Intelius Support
I can't believe this is being passed off as a background checking site. I checked myself and everything was either totally wrong or simply bogus. My phone number was wrong, my current address was wrong, my high school was wrong and it didn't even show the college I attended, All my previous addresses were incomplete, incorrect and the time I lived at each was wrong. The only thing I found completely accurate about their information was my name and date of birth. The owners of this site should use the money. They trick people into paying for their service to make a legitimate background check service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!
Do not waste your money on this company. Their reports are totally inaccurate and when I ran a report on myself the information was so far off base, unreliable and unfactual. I don't see how in the world this company could say that it's a leader in background checks- what it's a leader in is false advertising. Please learn from my mistake. I spent the money and got duped for you.

This was one of the worst and most terrifying experiences. I used it to look up something and then call celebs my subscription as it was generic and nothing more than I found myself on Google. After canceling I noticed they charged my card anyway. I went to the website, cancel again and changed my credit card. The moment I got my new card I used it at Walmart.com and within 30 seconds got an email that Intelius had update me my card number and charged my new card number, which means they embedded a key logger on my phone after visiting their website and using their product. This website and company is a private investigator company which is a common tactic but they do not reserve the right to use that in every day consumer affairs. Shady. Unethical.
I entered the phone number, was told would pay $.95 fee and get refund if no info found. I agreed even though they said a land line (cell) and carrier was Pac Bell (is ATT). When the BS premium email came thru, I cancelled the subscription. They emailed me to say refund because they could find NO INFO. Will see. Never got anything except WRONG INFO from them. Scam.
I made one time payment $0.99 for service, but I was unauthorized charged $32.46, it was really hard to go through site and cancel the membership that never subscribed... but still did not get refund. There is a phone number that need to call to get refund, but they did not asked me or did not call me when they charged me. Tricky.
The same thing happened to me that happened to others here. I paid 1.95 for a report and was charge 29.95 a week later for a "membership" I never signed up for. This company is fraudulent and should be reported as such.
Wish I'd read about them before I continued. Very POOR explanation of charges. I "assumed" (you know what happens when you ass-u-me things) their charges would be reasonable like they promised. But NO. They charged me $42 for the search and then charged me $8+ to cancel. What a ripoff....and the search was totally useless. I'll never go there again.
I found a computer with a person's name but nothing else. It was an unusual name so I spent my .95 to find a number. When I noticed a 29.95 charge, 2 weeks later, I realized I'd been had. They cancelled the membership, that I didn't know I had, after calling. Just be warned that you should stay away from these people or be more aware that America has turned into one giant scam. Yes, I paid 30.90 for a simple phone number trying to help someone out.
I wish I had looked at reviews first! They offer you a search for 95 cents but then you find out you have signed up for a paid subscription. You must cancel within 7 days but you are still billed an additional 7.95. The worst part is that the info I got was wrong!!
The person I'm searching for rented a house from me for 3 years. That address did not show up in the list of addresses for this person. The current address Intelius showed was a previous address the renter put on her rental application. Additionally, the membership was listed as .95 cents, but when I cancelled, the site informed me that it is charging me 7.95 for my short membership.
My Dad lived at same address for 60 years; a painter with grade school ed. They listed his correct address PLUS 4 more in other states, with a bachelor's degree, & a career as a Vice Pres of a company!
This place is a RIP Off. They charge your card before your trial period is over. They make it very difficult to understand the fine line reading. Money Hungry with unfulfilled promises. Run, don't use!
I ordered a people search and paid $1.01 for it. Next thing I know they charge my credit card $31.93 for a subscription I did not order or request. Intelius is a sleazy and deceptive operation. Do not do any business with this outfit.
In my opinion, these guys engage in deceptive practice. They show a large $0.95 to do a phone number look up on the front page so you think you are only paying that much for that one time service, but here's where I believe they are pretty sneaky... when you look at the fine print, they are actually stuffing in there an automatic Premier Plus subscription for $7.95 that is tied to that $0.95 cent look up. If you purchase the $0.95 service, you will pay that additional $7.95 - that charge however doesn't show up in your invoice - only the $.95 cents will show up. The fine print on the invoice indicate that your are already on the hook for that $7.95. And get this, even if you cancel within 7 days, you are still on the hook and IF YOU DON"T CANCEL, WITHIN 7 DAYS, it appears that you will pay $29.95 a month.
If you weren't aware that weren't just paying for the $.95 service, then you don't know that you have actually signed up for a subscription and will only know when you see the charge on your credit card. Below is an excerpt from this deceptive practice. So beware, if you think you're paying for just a one time look up for $.95 - you are being deceived! I contacted them to let them know my thoughts and they refunded me my money. Nonetheless, BEWARE! "PLUS ONE BACKGROUND CHECK (VOUCHER) EACH MONTH. Try Intelius Premier Plus, and if you cancel within the first 7 days you pay only $7.95. Otherwise, you will receive 1 background check voucher per month and be charged $29.95 each month you remain a member. Each voucher will expire in 30 days, if not used. You can cancel at any time."
The website offered me 2 different offers. The first one was a membership that I could cancel, then a $1.95 special popped up for a 1 time full report. It was for $1.95 as long as I cancelled before the 7 days because the other membership was just basic. Today I have a charge for $7.95. They know what they're doing by getting you to accept because that $7.95 charge no matter what is not communicated. The least they could have done was get the information on the report correct. Don't fall for the trap!!
Please save yourself A HUGE HEADACHE and NEVER EVER use this website to check anything. Not only are they profiting off of your information, they will also scam you out of even more money if you try to purchase anything from them. Any of the options they have on their website will charge you for a monthly subscription with no ability to opt-out. Again, they will give you a subscription regardless of anything you buy, there are no option to opt-out. The only way to opt-out is to not buy anything from them in the first place. If you did buy their services and wanted to cancel the subscription they will charge you a 7.95 fee. You have been warned. Please do not buy anything from them.
Ordered (20 Sep 2019) what I thought was a one time background check. The background report was laughably incorrect and virtually useless. The only way it could have been more amateurish is if they did it in crayons. The $39.95 charge bought a "7 day" trial membership, which automatically became a monthly charge of $29.95. Oh, and there is a $7.95 charge to cancel the service. When I asked to talk to a manager I got hung up on. Do NOT use this service. If you are looking for a police report go to the Police Station or County Court (often free). These clowns at Intelius have apparently moved on from their first gig as Nigerian Princes; this scam apparently pays better.
This website is a scam, they will charge your card for old information, nothing updated and when I called them I was told this is only a public information. So why I'm paying over $45 for then? Google could've gave me a better information!
I signed up for 1 Lookup .95 cents cost. Yeah right. The next thing I know I have a yearly account at 29.95 per month that I did not sign up for and I have to create account so I can sign in to cancel it. I have asked for a refund but no luck on that so I would suggest you stay from them. They are not trustworthy!!!
Their ad says you can find out who called you for .95. Well, they couldn't tell me who owned it and told me THEN, I would be charged an additional $7.95 if I cancel their services which I never asked for!! Stay away from these crooks! My credit card company couldn't stop payment on the additional amount without totally canceling my card THEN disputing it with them in the future!! They use the fact that most people won't go through cancelling their card for $7.95!! Pitiful business.
This company uses very deceptive practices, $.95 info search with a $7.95 penalty if you refuse to sign up for a MONTHLY $29.95 service. Completely deceptive. NOT to mention information provided was badly out of date and filled with errors. I will probably end up paying nearly $31.00 for an out of date report for a long lost friend that was no help in locating the person. Beware!
Was overcharged $35. Company won't refund my money. The background check was awful. I got way more information from another service that was honest. This company is not. Why would you trust a background check from a scam like this? Beware!!
I used this service to do a reverse lookup on a phone number and agreed to a small trial fee knowing I wouldn’t be keeping the service. I cancelled within 48hrs. Today I receive notice I’m being charged $7.95 for their service even though I thought I would only be paying 95cents. The information provided was not even correct. This is incredibly unethical business practice and should be criminal. Wish I would have read reviews before agreeing to purchase.
I signed up & paid $1.95 for one search and was given a 7-day "trial" membership. I did my search and found the information reported, including but not limited to addresses, phone numbers, employment and marriages, was hopelessly out of date and completely useless. The addresses, phone numbers, and employment information were at least 4 years old. I cancelled the membership immediately and was told I would be charged another $7.95 at the end of the "trial". This service is a complete scam from my perspective.
This is absolute BS. Anyone using this service BEWARE!! I tried a 1 time "look up" & was billed $.99.. thought no big deal, they even sent the info on the wrong person. 8 Days later I get a charge for $29.95 because I did not read the "Fine Print" in their email.
You are automatically signed up with a membership, and if you "Cancel" within 7 days, you are still billed an additional $7.95, and on the 8 day you are billed for $29.95!
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE unless you plan to pay $29.95 per month!
The small print that you agree to when purchasing says something about automatically signing you up for monthly membership that you must cancel. It's a bother, but whatever. However, if you read the small print carefully, you will discover that cancelling costs $7.95. So, in addition to whatever you are actually intending to buy, you will either be charged $29.95/month or else $7.95 if you cancel. The price clearly marked on the product is NOT the price you will pay. This is a desperately dishonest business practice.
I was charged monthly automatic billing after having selected a one off payment. When I sought to submit a complaint the site would not let me submit. Probably because I nominated it as a billing complaint. Then looked up product reviews and was amazed at how many people had bad experiences with this company.
When offered a deal don't believe it. When you cancel they charge you a fee that is not disclosed upon accepting the offer. This should be against the law. It used to be... How do these companies get away with this?
I used this service to verify what I already knew. The information was not available on this Intelius site. Trying to contact this firm I was given temporary passwords that did not work. I can't get into the site to enter my complaint.
Charged me $39.95 for a monthly subscription. I was able to use it for 1 day, and then suddenly was closed out of my account and told it "didn't exist." They then charged me an additional $29.95 for reasons unknown to me. (The account was still coming up as non-existent.) To sum it all up, these guys are thieves. Do not sign up for their services. They will take your money and then not offer you what they advertise.
Do not use this service. Their one-time charge is not real. They will charge you one time. And once they have your credit card they will hit you with monthly membership fees. I contacted them and they told me that I should have canceled after my one-time purchase. I had no idea that I was becoming a monthly member by choosing the option of a one-time purchase. Deceptive practices and a ripoff.
I ordered a background check -- criminal history, educational, etc. -- about a known fraudster who is working a scam on a dear friend of mine. I found a good deal of publicly-available information, but wanted to use this service to get leads for more digging. However, this was an absolute waste of money. Most of the information provided is horribly out of date or inaccurate, and NONE of what is easily found by just Googling his name (court cases, etc.) was present on the report I paid for. When I reached out to Customer Care and provided a link to one of those cases, I received a CYA form letter explaining how wonderful their service is, but also can be completely inaccurate, and tough doo-doo for any of us paying customers.
Just to verify, I looked myself and several relatives and close friends up -- people whose personal information (phone numbers, addresses, etc.) I KNOW, and not ONE data field besides name and age were current in ANY case. The service is utter garbage, a total scam with no accountability, and I strongly urge anyone and everyone to STAY AWAY.
I spent months and a couple of hundred dollars compiling a client list and comments that I added. Without warning they changed their format and removed all my data. I contacted them via email with my complaint and they simply said it was done in an effort to improve our experience. Most of the results obtained from my searches were quite old. Only stayed with the company, because of all the work I put into my list.
I've used Intelius for about 8 years on almost daily basis. They have introduced a new platform a few days ago with no warning. It's not only terribly slow, it doesn't give all the information needed. You can click a link to get pieces of info but you will wait several minutes to go to the next link. After being with them for years, I will be canceling my membership.
This site is bogus when it comes to getting updated information. I requested information on family and friends and none of their names appeared under their phone numbers they had for years even decades, even my phone number. if you don't have any information, it's easy for them to give you information that is incorrect since you don't know the info anyways. Again, all the info was BOGUS!!! And they want to make you pay $7.95 to cancel membership on BOGUS information!!! I requested my refund of all monies since all the info was incorrect. I'll let you know if I get my money back.
I did a background check for a family individual request. Report was unable to list current address, education, work. I was able to go online myself and find the information listing his dental school, license info, NPI number, current employment address and work through google. I found more on google than for what I paid for the report. If you go onto Intelius website very hard to find a customer service number unless you scroll through your account. Main website makes it hard to find. I have used another service online to get a detailed report for $50 more than listed neighbors, VIN for vehicles of address, license no. for individual, liens, employment criminal records etc. Not worth the money spent. Very dissatisfied with the service.
From time to time over the years, I've used a reverse phone look up (finding an address and/or name from a phone number) to vet potential contractors. It usually costs $1-$3. I did this recently using Intelius, which stated in big print that the service cost 95 cents during a trial period. So I filled in the payment information, only to receive notice after committing to the service that it might take 2-3 days for the report. I needed to make a decision within 24 hours, so this slow service was now clearly useless to me. I then went to cancel my free trial subscription, only to notice in the very fine print that quick cancellation prior to receipt of a report subjected me to a $7.95 cancellation fee. Worse yet, a much higher cancellation fee would apply if I were to wait to receive the report first.
So in essence, requesting a report without paying for a subscription will cost the consumer about $9 during the trial period, not 95 cents, and if one obtains and reads that single report during the trial period it will cost about $30. Such a deceptive practice from an established company! If I had been dealing with a business without an entrenched reputation, I would have carefully read each word, but one doesn't expect this from such a renowned business. Shame on you, Intelius!
I used Intelius to find an address for some I wanted to send a Get Well card and agreed to 95 cents fee. Later I received a notice my credit card was charged $29.95 for premier subscription. I see from this site a lot of people have had this same experience. They will not refund and tell you it was stated at check out and on receipt. I reviewed my receipt and the small purchase was in a separate box with the subscription lower down in a separate box. And, if you cancel with a short period of time they charge you $7.95 which tells me this is a common practice with Intelius. A lot of cancellations based on this deceptive check out. I ask that Intelius change their bad practice.
After receiving a text message from a 202 area code I did a Google search for the number. Intelius came up at the top of the results. The site offered to to a reverse look up for $0.95. Well aware that this could be a scam, I was on the lookout for hidden fees. Still I found an additional charge for $29.95 after making the initial $0.95 purchase. Whatever weasel words were inserted into the purchase were disguised well enough that I missed them despite looking for them. I was signed up for a monthly recurring charge of $29.95 for a service that was unwanted and has no value. Total scam. Hopefully someone will see this review before making their purchase.
Beware: I received a suspicious call. I googled the number and saw an ad for Intelius. It said I could trace the number for .95. I clicked on the offer and paid with PayPal. I soon received an e-mail thanking me for signing up for their service for $29.95 per month. When I called to cancel this service that I was unaware of signing up for I was told it would cost $7.95 to cancel. All of this happened within a 5 to 7 min. span. So, this company got $7.95 for nothing. On top of that they said they could not find info on the number I was trying to trace. I was told I would receive a confirmation of the cancellation but I have not so I expect to see more charges made to my account. What a business!
I agreed to a one time fee of $1.95 and cancelled my subscription right away and now they have taken $61.90 off my credit card without my consent but when you call they are always closed even during the hours they say they are open.. I have talked to my attorney about this and if my money isn't put back on my card immediately, we will be taking further action for fraud!
They sell you on a $39.95 fee to do a background check then if you don't read the small print it is a monthly charge of $29.95 each month until you can figure out how to cancel. It is very hard to find the small print to cancel this membership that you did not want. I hope they get sued!
Thought I was purchasing a one time report for 95 cents and all of the sudden a monthly charge came up 29.92 came up. I'm sure it was somehow in the fine print but very deceptive practices and company.
Same experience as others. Thought I was buying one piece of information for 95 cents. Surreptitiously, the company signed me up for a monthly subscription at a cost of $30 per month. When I called to complain, I was given no assistance or relief. It was obvious from their records that I had not used the service since the 95 cent search. My only choice is to go to the Attorney General for the state of Washington, which I will do. I can alert their consumer affairs division to the scam being perpetrated by a company headquartered there.
I did a search on Intelius for $.95. Apparently, there is some language in the checkout process that automatically signs you up for a membership which you have to opt out of within 7 days or be charged $29.95 per month! Obviously, I would never knowingly sign up for this service. When I called customer service after seeing three months' charges on my card, they told me that they would cancel the membership, but that past charges were non-refundable. I said that wasn't acceptable, so he offered to refund one half of the last month's charges. I said that wasn't good enough, so he told me he would refund 100% of the last month's charges. I said that still wasn't good enough, and he offered to refund the last two month's charges. I agreed to that, but think I should have continued to push. It's a scam and they know it.
I use their service occasionally in the past few years without a problem, but last February 2018 after I paid $9 something for a repost, every month after that they are charging me $19.95 for something I did not agree and most importantly that I do not use. 14 months later my credit card raised a red flag ???? about the May/2019 charge and I realized that Intelius fraudulently is charging me for the past 13 months $19.95 each month. The fact that they can clearly see that I have not used their services should have raised a flag to them but that would have been to my advantage so forget that. Now I am trying to get a refund and they tell me to log into my subscription account and stop it (?). Log in where Intelius? I do not have an account yet I am charged. Is there an organization to stop these unauthorized and reoccurring monthly charges?
I tried it, paid almost $30.00 and it searched the wrong person. It didn’t give me anything on the person I needed a background checked on. I fell for the fake 5 stars. Don’t do it! You will throw your money away.
Signed up for trial membership. 7.95 if canceled within 7 days. It stated unlimited searches only charged if you request detail report. I did a name search. Person came up out of state. Canceled right there. Wasn’t even an hour. I was charged for the report and the membership. Contacted customer service. They stated that I requested a report so I was being charged for a report. I again told them that I did not. I did a name search in which it came up the wrong person and I canceled. Response was our reports are not guaranteed. There is better companies out there that will deliver and guarantee their findings.
When I put in the address it popped up there would be a 75 cent charge. I put the charge on my credit card. It was not clear that I was signing for a membership. When my credit card came I was billed for two months membership. When I wrote them about this they refused to refund the charges. I will not us this service ever again. It's a ripoff. I just paid $60 for a telephone number!
After paying the 95 cents charge, they came back with no results from search, I canceled the free trial membership. I got my .95 cents back. Then they charge on my credit card anyway, despite having canceled. Then you look at these reviews. I hope my complaint get the authorities get them.
I paid Intelius $59.90 for a "comprehensive premier plus" background check, and the results didn't even turn up the criminal charges and moving violations I already knew about, as well as having an inaccurate residence & work history of the subject. I contacted Intelius about refunding the charges for completely unsatisfactory service, and was told in so many words to pound sand, had to dispute the charges on my card. Do not waste your time & money with this site. Even the $0.99 and $2.00 checks turned up more than Intelius, although they were also severely lacking.
I never used Intelius but I received a small charge - $0.95 - on my credit card. It turns out that hackers somehow use Intelius to find valid credit card numbers. They apparently have bots that generate numbers until they find one that works on Intelius. I called Intelius and they said they would cancel the charge as well as the upcoming $39.95 membership fee but the rep was rude and insinuated that a family member used my credit card. This company seems very shady. They could easily do what most companies with an online presence do - i.e. limit the number of attempts at using a credit card to cut down on fraud.
Ordered a background check for $39.99 and received information that is available for free with a Google search. There was unclear text below about cancelling your membership within the first 7 days and was charged another $7.95. I basically gave Intelius $48.00 for nothing to show. Do not even think about considering them.
I attempted to do a reverse phone review with Intelius. The site popped up a blurred out image of a file telling me that I could get this report for $.095 if I sign up for their "premium membership" at $29.95 a month - but I could cancel that membership at any time after the initial payment. I made the initial payment - and found that the blurred file that was "ready" for me did not exist! I got an email some days later saying, "Sorry, we couldn't find any information about your request." But they did charge me a $7.95 cancellation fee on the membership anyway. Don't go near this company. They are trying to get your money without providing anything you can't find for free elsewhere. And PayPal won't judge a claim in your case against these folks, so they have at least that payment service in their pocket. Liars and scams.
I made a useless self-research that I didn't benefit from and they charged me 1.09$ for it just to find out a couple of weeks later that I got charged another 32.95$ for their ** membership which I have never used and don't need. I called to request my refund and the guy tells me that It's non-refundable and it's their policy. I had to yell and scream and ask to speak to a supervisor for him to agree to process a refund out of "courtesy" he said. The guy seemed like he was familiar with the process and it wasn't the first time to yell at him. Overall, ** experience, terrible scam company, and useless background search value. Just save your self time, money and effort and don't go near this company.
Advertise $0.95 cent per contact charge which if canceled within 7 days no other charges will be applied. Well, they forgot to mention that even when you cancel they charge you $7.95 as attachment to promo. So you get screwed anyways. Way to steal money out of consumers. Furthermore, the info they provide doesn't tell you anything, unless you pay more for more detailed review and then get charged on top of it. Shame on them.
Intelius is a scam company, plain and simple. I ordered a "people search," which was stated to be $0.95 with a 7-day trial in their membership. This report was not even worth $0.95, and I requested to cancel. They agreed, but days later I saw they charged me $0.95 plus $7.95, AFTER I had cancelled. The scam is, they lead you to think you can get a "people search" report for $0.95. But they will later charge your card $7.95 or $29.95 recurring, depending on when you cancel. The $29.95 is for some "paid membership," but they don't even provide much explanation what the $7.95 is supposed to be for!
What to do if they take your money? Call or e-mail the company, and politely but firmly state this is not acceptable and you need a refund. I got my money back this way after a couple of e-mails. If they refuse to refund and/or continue to charge your card, file a dispute with your credit card/bank if you can. Don’t forget to report your card as lost/stolen so they can deactivate it and send you a new one.
I requested to find out details of a certain phone number. Gave me multiple addresses. Everything incorrect in the report. Called and cancelled within the time frame so I don’t get a monthly fee. Didn’t bother to check my detailed bank statement and realized that they never cancelled my membership and I was getting charged for service I didn’t use. Tried to explain the situation today and the agent I spoke with says anytime someone calls they have a date stamp with the account and it doesn’t show that I called to cancel and it shows that I used service every month!!! Total scam, I don’t mind paying for something that I got service for. Reports are inaccurate and they set you up for automatic billing. Never use this service! Total scam!!!
TOTAL SCAM!!! My son needed a background check for a travel abroad program. He's 21, active on social media, has had numerous jobs and has attended two colleges. NO information come up for him: NO phone number, NO social media, NO education, NO employment, NO email. The one bit of info they did list was WRONG - my husband's name was spelled wrong and they listed his age as 21. He's 57.
I canceled immediately and wanted my money back. The $39.99 is non-refundable. To add insult to injury, they billed me an additional $7.98 a day or so after. WHY? I spoke to a representative, Paul, who insisted any of the information listed wasn't why people use a background check. Well, why do you include all of those categories on your report? Any good review of this service is PAID ADVERTISING. Go to **... They rate them 9/10. And underneath that you'll see "Disclosure: We receive advertising revenue from this partner."
I recently tried the 7 day trial i wanted to do a backgrounders check on a nanny for my kids. I started the trial to look up 3 particular prospects. I put my info and agree to pay the fee to see if I have funds. Upon the search I reviewed the info given to me and tried to match it and it didn’t add up on anything. All the addresses were not up to date, backgrounds, phone numbers. To give it a chance I looked myself up. They have no number, no criminal record, or previous addresses I used. I cancelled my trial the day or next day and on the 8th Day was charged $7.95. I think maybe if it was accurate I would have kept it; but a complete waste of money. Smh. I wish I could get everything back but now I know.
We had a month membership and told it would be $19.95. Instead we were conveniently charged $29.95. After 4 emails asking about the price difference, I was then asked by a customer rep what my concern was. He never read my question. The next email was a standard form letter saying call the 1-800 number. I've tried both Truthfinder and SentryLink and found them to be superior. Plus their customer service actually reads your emails and responses to them. I would avoid Intelius at all costs.
Offer a check for $.95. If you cancel without using your background check it they charge $7.95 to your card. If you actually use it they charge you for $29.95 membership starting at time of the ".99 best ever offer". Do not fall for this scam!
I really expected this outcome, so why did I go ahead and give them my information anyway? I am being harassed by an unknown person in another part of the country. I REALLY want to know who the person is, which is why I decided to go forward with the handing over of my credit card information. After paying the 95 cents charge, surely I knew there would be more, but I tried to cancel after the free trial membership. Once I got the $29.95 charge on my credit card anyway, despite having canceled, and called to object, of course they said that there's "no record" of me calling to cancel. Right?
What makes me almost as mad as the $29.95 scam (I pray there's not another charge next month and that it ends at this $29.95) is that they LIED OUTRIGHT when they said they had the identity of the owner of the phone number from which the harassment is coming. I'd almost have forgiven them the $29.95 scam that I KNEW was coming if they really did have the information I asked for in the first place, but alas, when I completed the transaction, they revealed that they have NO INFORMATION whatsoever on that phone number. GRRR. In effect, I've been "double-scammed," once by the $29.95 unwanted "membership" and once by the fake pretext of them having the information that I want.
Worst company ever! They give you a so called “trial period” for 7 days, which would indicate to most people that there is no membership fee unless you use their service. I canceled after 5 days without making any inquiries and was still charged $7.95. Customer service tells me that according to their terms “trial period” meant that I am charged only $7.95 instead of their $29.95/month fee. Obviously, the company is intentionally deceiving their customers. Find another background search company - don’t use them. There are plenty of reputable companies out there.
I looked at 2 records and know that both records were so very far out of date. The information is completely useless. They seem to only have 20 year old phone books and whatever was available in them. This is a complete waste of money!!! I am canceling my subscription.
I paid $39.95 for a search which was to include a detailed search. I received a partial report with details easily found for free. In order to receive the information promised in my membership, Intelius required more and more payments. My $39.95 got me absolutely nothing as promised.
I did a background check for my daughter, who requested this as part of a self-dox to see what she looks like on the Internet. I provided her name and current address. For $50, the report provided exactly one additional address and her birthday. The most basic freely available information such as prior address (my home) and current relatives was not found. The report was instant, so it's clear that no real database searches were conducted. But you can spend much more if you want additional databases to be searched, but this isn't at all clear until you've already committed $50. You can learn 10 times more by simply putting a person's name in the Google search bar.
I ordered a background check online. When I went to retrieve the report, additional boxes appeared on the screen, which appeared to state that simply clicking to retrieve the report would trigger an additional membership, and the pricing of that additional membership was unclear; the additional boxes had various amounts. It seemed like I had to pay an additional fee to get the report that I had already paid for. I simply wanted the report that I paid for. Customer Service stated that amounts paid were nonrefundable. Whatever. SCAM.
SCAM... Complete Robbery. By no means give this company your Personal Information. What was supposed to be a one-time .95 cent reverse phone lookup has turned into hundreds of dollars lost (over $300). If you even do 1 lookup, they consider it a subscription and begin charging you $29.95 a month. I called over 10 times to get this rectified and was reimbursed 3 months but that is all the one office could do, they said they would put it through to HQ in Washington, but they are not accessible via phone and would email me with an update. Never got an update. They are a total joke and I can see why they don't "have" a phone number, they would be riddled with calls of complaints. Very disappointed that such a business is still open. Time to go to the Better Business Bureau. Nice not talking with ya, Intelius.
Please DO NOT use this company! Total scam! I agreed to the $0.95 to look up a report and canceled before the subscription charge and was still charged the $7.95! When I logged in to their website to look up more on this charged, I noticed that they put "canceled before subscription" and was STILL charged for it! I called customer care and of course said the charge was none-refundable... didn't even apologize for the inconvenience, not that it would have made any difference. DO NOT USE THIS SITE, ALL THEY WANT IS FOR YOU TO FALL FOR THE FAKE PROMOTIONS. Totally agree with the bad reviews, they should be investigated! Someone please do something so they can stop taking people $$$$.
I was looking up info online, Intelius advertises, "LOOK UP ANYONE FOR FREE FREE." Before you can look anyone up you must FIRST REGISTER. So I did. Part of the registration process is entering your credit card number which "will not be charged" before you can retrieve your FREE report. Next thing I know there are charges on my card for a total of $60.85. THIS COMPANY is falsely advertising. I DEMAND A REFUND.
After pulling one report, their website automatically and disreputably signs you up for a premier service which you are supposed to cancel somehow but they don't direct you how to do that. Then they proceed to charge you 29.95 per month MANUALLY. My bank verified that it wasn't even a subscription based charge. On top of that they don't send you a confirmation email of the charge which has got to be illegal?! I'm finding it hard to fathom. The only way to see it is the surprise in your bank statement. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They should be investigated.
The report they provided was no different than what I found on the Internet with a free search. The $8.95 spent is not worth their effort. Recommend you avoid this website. Requested a refund do their lack of information but was denied. Learned my lesson to not trust a site that already has horrible reviews.
I recently used this service to pull a report on some creep who's been stalking me for years. What I got was garbled information on several different people with his name. (One past address listed was his but it was the wrong birth date.) There was also no record of the restraining order I took out against him a couple years ago. To add insult to injury, they charged a $7.95 fee I never even agreed to. Like I said, totally worthless. If you want to dig up dirt on someone, hire a PI. You'll pay more, but the information will be worthwhile. Cheap is dear.
I paid the $4.95 (I believe) and received my report. Every email and phone number that was provided was incorrect. I will never use this service again. I wish I would of read some reviews prior to my purchase.
The free lookup shows they have all types of information on the target of your investigation, but when you buy and pay for the report it reveals that there is no, none, NADA information available. They will refund the $19.99 if you phone in the first 7 days for the ongoing Membership, but not the $49.99 for the report even though the report is essentially blank.
I signed up to receive a report on who owned a cell phone number that kept calling me. I submitted the number and waited for my report. I received notification that said they couldn't produce the report and sent my request to a 3rd party vendor. That company couldn't produce a report either so they refunded 95 cents for the original search. I didn't receive my report as described. I then decided to try my own cell phone number. The report came back listed to two different individuals who share my last name but I am not related to them in any manner.
I've had the same cell phone number for over 15 years. It was then that I knew this service was not as described. I canceled my account in lieu of these results. Intelius then charged me 7.95 for the 7 day trial period at a later date. They claim that even though they do not produce accurate reports and/or couldn't even produce a report that I still am charged the fee to cancel the subscription. This is misleading and borderline fraudulent business practices. This company is a scam.
I did what I thought was a ONE-TIME search for an address and paid the small fee for getting the address. I did not happen to notice that this put me into a membership free-trial that IF I did not cancel within 7 days, I was a member. I left the country after that for 7 weeks so have now paid $64+ for that one address and a membership I did NOT WANT. It is a very good way to make money to have non-refundable membership fees. But they are "very sorry" this happened to me. Yeah-I am sure! BEWARE of using their website.
I will never use this ever again, they sucked me in with a free trial and never provided the billing statement which is so common of any NORMAL business to offer a receipt of the purchase, I paid $29.95 for a monthly reoccurring trap after the free trial ended for over a year! Yes I was being billed 30 dollars a month for 1 year and 3 months... without knowing. I never received any emails under my payments so I never knew. I never knew until I checked my banking app and saw Intelius 2223 some random weird thing I didn't recognize, so of course I looked it up, I felt so scammed, this is a scam and the story gets better. Readers grab your tea because I called them!
I look up the phone number for customer service and the lady on the other side sounds white and on her high horse giving me sass and telling me all she can do is refund 2 purchases. So that sucks, I was paying for over a year... And she only ever refunded me one purchase. So... scam? Is that what you're thinking too because I know I am.
Then a couple weeks go by I'm waiting for this second refund never happens so I call them again, this time I have a rude hill billy women on the other side, and she was the rudest of them all. I was explaining my situation and she screams, "We don't need to give you a receipt, it's in our policies," and she's just screaming at me, she won't give me a manager. She's telling me no, she raised her voice at me so much, I couldn't believe this was customer service. If I could give this review negative stars I would.
I hate this company, it's a company of scammers and rude monsters. Never use their site, their services, because they will ** you over like they did to me. Maybe they'll spit in your face over the phone. I want a refund of my money but I don't know... They're terrible people. When I wanted a manager she said, "We have a lot of people calling. I don't have time for this?" But it's like you do have time when it came to scamming me huh. Overall may they burn. Yes I know this website says to put in a receipt of the billing and I would to provide. I did use their services but these ** don't give receipts apparently.
Turned out only 1 of 5 addresses I have been registered at in this state. No email, number, nothing on my arrest record. Also tried searching for known criminals with no result. This company is a scam.
Whatever you do don't use this. They tricked my daughter into buying a $ .95 trial. She cancelled within the time frame and they charged me again. They won't refund it because they're scamming people and it's the only way they can make money.
I signed up for a one week trial advertised as 95 cents. The service yielded no useful info, so I canceled immediately. Two weeks later I'm hit with a 7.95 charge for the service. They don't outline their terms clearly and are profiting off a shady trial that doesn't actually cancel. The product is useless and they will charge you regardless of whether you cancel the trial or not. Don't use them under any circumstance. I have now filed a dispute with PayPal, hopefully it is rectified shortly. Super annoyed.
The company was totally useless in getting information that you need. AND THEN three weeks later I was charged another 7.95 after I canceled. When I tried to use the service initially it said it was .95 cents. Maybe it's my fault that I did not read the fine print BUT the company certainly did not advertise very boldly that I would be charged a further price 3 WEEKS LATER even tho I canceled the membership immediately after realizing how useless the information was. Use the white pages. They are more convenient and will not slip into your bank account 3 weeks later when you are not looking.
Paid for a one time people look up. The only information I received was the information I had entered. Also was informed that to cancel within 7 days is costing me an additional $7.95. What a rip off.
Not only is the information absolutely outdated and the interface is horrible (you don't have the option of cancelling your account yourself unless you call them WHICH IS RIDICULOUS), but the company makes unauthorized purchases on your card! I looked and saw they made two $30 charges on my debit card without my consent, which I fought to have refunded, along with a random $7.95 charge that they actually refused to give me back because I cancelled my account.
When I signed up, I made SURE not to sign up for the Premier service, yet they did it themselves! Not to mention the customer service are extremely rude and refuse to cooperate! Do not use this company, there are loads of better background search sites I utilize that don't make purchases without your consent, are friendlier to their consumers, and provide up-to-date information. The fact that there's a pattern of unauthorized card charges is appalling,
I paid $.95 to get a reverse phone number. Never got it, so I canceled my account after a few days. Then I received a $7.95 charge to my PayPal account. Intelius Customer Service said I had selected the Premier Service at $29 annually, and there is a one-time fee of $7.95 to cancel. They will not refund the $7.95. I certainly did not want the one-year service. How did they scam me into that? Do not deal with this scam company!
This company uses a variety of deception to extract money from unsuspecting people looking for information. The data I found was remarkably incomplete and not in line with what was given to be available. I was trying to find birth records on my adoptive daughter. Intelius brought up what looked to be helpful data and offered a full report for $0.99. I figure, sure, I'll pay a dollar to see the full information and I purchased the report only to discover that it had no useful information. I immediately cancelled my account. Several days later I see a $7.95 charge to my PayPal account from them. I reply to their PayPal email address requesting a full refund. No response.
I call their customer service line which is answered quickly by someone with a South Asian accent who proceeds to tell me that it is an non-refundable charge because I signed up for their Premier service when I ordered the report and the $7.95 is the cost of the 1 week membership. I was signed up for 1 hour. I told him that he needed to refund the sum. He refused, saying it was non refundable. When I told him that I would just take it up with PayPal, he immediately agreed to refund the amount to my account. Other companies in this line of service offer temporary access to their paid services for free if cancelled before a given date. I've never seen another company sign you up for a recurring paid service for purchasing a one time report.
I search for an unknown caller number on the web. The results said data was available and provided a link to Intelius. Their offer on the web was $0.99 to provide caller identification. You are in reality being signed up for a $29.95 monthly membership in Intelius Premier plus you pay the $0.99 with a credit card. They were not able to produce any identifying results, so I called to cancel the monthly membership. The invoice says "You will be charged a $7.95 one-time fee if you cancel your membership and do not use your first background check voucher before [date], which is 7 days from today." Watch out for this tactic. There are plenty of other paid searches out there that are more clear what your one-time charge will be. I will never use them again.
While I was traveling on vacation earlier this year, I used Intelius to find an old address. The cost of that transaction was 95 cents. I didn't know until today that the 95 cent purchase automatically enrolled me in their premier plan, resulting in Intelius charging me via PayPal for $29.95 per month. Their marketing practice is quite deceptive, and do not like the fact that monthly charges begin and are only stopped when you call them to cancel. I know a lot of businesses do that, and I hate them too. (Grrrr... now where's that voodoo doll?)
I never even signed up for whatever service you provide. Yet, you charged my debit card $29.95. I don't even know who you are or what you do, all I know is that my $29.95 had better be back on my debit card by Monday or my lawyer will be in touch with you for unauthorized usage of a debit card. You all are authorizing charges by an internet company called Intelius. You are in violation of customer protection statutes. Customers have incurred so much money on their credit cards or debit cards because they don't look at their charges and they don't dispute them, however I do. Therefore, I expect a full refund of $29.95 as soon as you get into your office on Monday. If not, my lawyers will be in touch with you. The Better Business Bureau has already heard from me as well as about 400 other people. So you really need to take your scam somewhere else. People in America are on to you, you cannot get away with it anymore so don't try.
I signed up for a one-time request. I was double billed which overdrafted my checking account. When contacted, they said it was a buy one get one free and that they were sorry but they would give me a free request. Look you have cost me $37. I want my money returned, I’m never using their service again.
Use common sense. After you purchase your first report, you get directed to a page that BLATANTLY asks you if you want to sign up for their recurring service and directs you to esign with your email then hit the big YES button or, underneath that, just hit the NO THANKS button. Everyone, just read things before you click or you won't do well online. Secondly, as far as for my interaction with the company, the report I purchased had been "mixed up" with that of someone with a similar name in the same area so I chatted the support team. The rep reviewed it, apologized for their being an issue with the report and conceded my full refund then confirmed that I was not on any recurring billing. What else could you need from a company?
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I paid $39.95 for a background check that had no information in it. The free portion of their check had more info. On the free info it listed the relatives and education of the person I checked but when I got the report that was blank and of course the person I talked to when I called to complain could barely speak English. Save yourself some money and do not use this company.
I had decided to do a search on my ex husband when I got some money. The search was $6.95 for the basic search. The information contained in the report was WAY out of date. There was no new information. The information contained in the report was 5-10 years old. When I called to make sure my credit card would not be charged again for a membership, I was told I would be charged an additional $7.95 for canceling. Just google who you are searching for and save the $15. You will get more up to date information.
I looked up information online about an individual. I decided to use Intelius to add to what I found on my own. What a mistake. Their report found about one tenth what I found and some of theirs was inaccurate. They were very expensive $69.00 compared to other such services and the report was essentially useless with inaccurate and out of date info. Never again!
Scam!!! Only wanted telephone number from someone and willing to pay the $1.95. When the receipt showed online they added $19.95 plus two $1.95 charges. Called and tried to cancel immediately. Girl said they would take the 19.95 off but not the $3 charges (it was discounted she said from 1.95 each). On the phone for 15 minutes NEVER got report. After arguing with them about it I clicked on the "get report" it was an old phone number!!! That's all I wanted!! I'm now so annoyed I will have to contact my VISA to get the small amount removed. I will do this as I am so annoyed with Intelius and want everyone to know what a scam this is!!!!
It is very difficult to cancel. The information you get online to do this isn't accurate. There isn't a "cancel" option under "My Membership" services. The "Help" in Intelius is no help, either. I finally found the way by accident. It's on the Intelius Premier Plus page with "My List", "Search", and "My Account" on the top header (I have no idea how I ended up on this. Sorry). The default page you land on in the Intelius Premier Plus is "My List" where there is options to search underneath it. You need to choose the "My Account" page link on the top header to get off that "My List" page. On the "My Account" page is "Membership Information" and under that is a blue link that lets you cancel. This is NOT at all what's on any instructions online. If you don't go out of your way to cancel, your credit card will be charged every month until you do. This is unacceptable to make it so difficult.
My experience with Intelius was not good. In fact, I found the company without any integrity. When I sought the company out online they claim to be running a promotion of .95 and if they didn't find a result to my inquiry within 3 days they would refund the .95. Also if I canceled my membership within 7 days they would not charge the $29.95 monthly fee. This is what is stated, "You will only be charged a $7.95 one-time fee if you cancel your membership and do not use your first background check voucher before 02/05/2018." The misleading part of it is "am I not using the first time voucher with my order #** which was dated before 2/5/18?" The company wasn't able to complete my request at the end of three days so I canceled my membership promptly (within the 7 day period) and then I get charged the $7.95 at the end of the 7 days.
I inquired as to why through Intelius Customer Service and I was informed that I agreed to being charged the one-time fee of $7.95. Yes, I did in fact agreed but this is the scam part. I did everything according to how it was explained and written, but Intelius didn't do their part. They were not able to complete my order (which I ended up resolving on my own-odd that they couldn't). They refund .95 to charge $7.95. One time voucher is pointless. Not reputable!!! Will not consider doing business in the future with them. Wished I had paid better attention to the bad reviews of this company before I signed up with them.
I don't really understand all the bad reviews. Every one I've read basically said that the obligations were right there (just in small print which is no different than each and every company under the sun) and that they only read them AFTER signing up. Who does that? The funny part is after a friend showed me the site and I started digging around and looking into it (before finding any reviews) I noticed the free, unlimited 2 day trial. Unlike most Intelius gives the trial withOUT your credit card or any personal info which is also rare. I've been working on the free trials and I've looked up over one hundred people easy.
I guess read before you stick your bank info in someplace. *I don't think the free trial is offered on the desktop but in the Google Play Store it automatically goes to it. One additional thing to know is after the trial ends, in order to get it again, you do need to install the app on another device. Small pain in the butt compared to what people here have been going through I think.

I hate your guts for lying to me and all your customers. I wish I would of never used your company. I was told it was going to cost only $1.00. Got billed on my current statement for $1.95. The information was old and at least 15-22 years old. You are paying for nothing and bad information. Called today 1/19/2018 and wanted to cancel my membership and asked them if I would get a credit for the $1.95 and was told that there is NO cancellation of my account and that I would continue to be billed the $1.95 for using this service. But they said again if I use the service instead of the $1.00 charge only it would be $7.95 to look up one number. I said I wanted this $1.95 credit on my bill credited back to my credit card and they said it was NOT going to happen.
The call center is in another country where you cannot understand them at all. Please never ever never ever never ever do business with Intellius.com because they lie to you from the start of the lookup of an address and phone number and to the end of the process. I have never been treated so bad in my life by an internet company. Society should not be a press a button and it's done kind of thing because life does not work that way and should not work that way.
As many people stated, I also purchased a one time request. I received the confirmation email with the 7 days free trial of Intelius membership, which I did not requested. When I read it carefully, I found out that after my free trial expires, they will charge my card for 29.99 a month, but if I cancel it within 7 days and did not use their service during these 7 days, they will just charge me for 7.95 dollars. So, they charged my card for the service I did not even signed up for... How could this company even exist??
1. Signed up to do a 1 search for .95 and the info provided was no better than what I found in 5-minutes of searching the web. 2. A week later received a charge for $21.95 for a Premier Plus Membership which I did not sign up for. When I contacted them said, "To get the special pricing you agreed to a year Premium Plus membership, the details which were presented at checkout" (in fine print, at bottom of page). They refused to refund the charge. What a shameful way to make money.
Signed up to receive ONE address. They charge you for an ENTIRE YEAR!!! DO NOT under any circumstances use this company. They will not refund my money which they had no permission to take in the first place. I don't understand how con artists like this are allowed to continue. Anyone else would be in prison.
I went to Intelius.com for a background check. I agreed to pay for one check at $19.95. They also signed me up and billed me for $49.95 for one month - without my permission. That is $19.95 + $49.95 for the one service. They then apparently lied to my credit card company and said I had signed up for a single check plus a month of checks.
Intelius removed money from my bank account without my explicit knowledge or permission. There were absolutely no service or product rendered in exchange for the money Intelius removed from my account. After contacting Intelius several times to explain the details, Intelius terms of service would NOT return the money even though NO services were rendered. I made a small one time service purchase. Intelius states that a clause during checkout entitled them to continue to bil
