This seller, Hollywood2013, has a couple of reviews that are similar to my experience. She took my money for the merchandise but never shipped the item. She did not contact me for 2 months at which time she said she would be shipping that week; 3 weeks later and still no merchandise. I cannot leave feedback on eBay because it has been more than 2 months since I ordered. I was unaware of this rule. Seems to me many people could be unaware of this rule and this is a great way for seller Hollywood2013 to take people's money with no intention of shipping and no concern about a negative review.

In addition, the eBay website construction/logic is horrible. It is so lacking in logic and intuitiveness, and thus frustrating, that you want to give up. My experience is limited, but I think it is not easy to determine good from bad sellers, thus requiring too much time and effort for purchasing anything from eBay to be worthwhile. I suspect the reviews are not legitimate either. Rules seem to be in support of sellers, not buyers.

I purchased an item from VR Assets on eBay but it arrived badly packed and damaged. VR Assets promised to refund if I returned the product from Colombia at my expense. I agreed to this and bought a replacement from VR Assets. The replacement arrived but was not the correct reference. Once again VR Assets agreed to refund if I returned the item at my expense. Meanwhile, Amazon refused the refund on the first defective item even after it arrived back at VR Assets, and I had paid in shipping almost the same as the value of the item. The refund promise was worthless, and I will not be returning the second item because of the shipment cost from Colombia.

VR Assets -after initially promising twice to refund if I returned the item, now say they will only do so if "FORCED TO DO SO"(sic) by Ebay. Ebay now do not reply to my requests to review the two cases. The Ebay website has no easy way to send emails to them. VR Assets {vrassets) have no business ethic and care nothing for their Clients. They do not keep their word and are incompetent. VR Assets should be avoided at all costs. Ebay are of no help in these matters and should also be avoided. I have now purchased the item I needed (a replacement laptop screen) from Amazon with no hassle and with excellent delivery and service. Good-bye and good riddance to eBay and VR Assets.

I have been a member on eBay for almost 20 years. I have had mostly great experiences but some bad as well. This latest situation is the worst. I purchased an item from a seller for $75.00. It was a part for a tool I needed. Item had a tracking number formed but no more info. I needed that part so I hung tight for 3 weeks. tried contacting the seller but nothing.

After 4 weeks, I contacted ebay to step in. Apparently I was 1 day past the deadline to get ANY help or ANY support from ebay. It doesn't matter if 4 days go by or 4 weeks....if one pays for an item and does not receive it, they should be compensated. Many other selling platforms back their buyers, but here, I am not protected...Time is on the seller's side. Was just hoping ebay would be FAIR and get me a refund but they refused. They left he shaking my head in disappointment. Will have to rely on other sites to do my shopping I guess.

eBay customer service is a hit or miss. They can be extremely biased, depending on who's involved and what their misconceptions are. At best, they can empathize and bat for you. At worst, they can mess up your account so illegally that if you can gather the evidence of what they did, with every infraction they've ever committed, from every member, they would literally be run out of business long time ago. I have lost so much money both as a buyer and seller as an ebay member during my 20plus year involvement with them, we are totalling in the 5-figure mark if not more!

I tried to terminate my membership many times, but ebay does not make it easy. They require at least 3 months of no pending transactions and no logging onto their site. Otherwise it's back to day 1. If you can meet these requirements, you get a chance of "get out of jail card". Overall, I do not recommend them as a source for sellers either, because based on my 20plus years selling on their site, I have lost more money than profited from a gain. Lowballing and being screwed by purchasing from overpriced sellers are common. I do not recommend them as a buying source also because most of the merchandise sold are useless on a practical level, and attract a purely addictive, self-centered motive to buy more and more. In short, the only party that really profits from these transactions is eBay itself. They suck up the bank accounts and bring out the worst in people. I do not recommend them as a resource to anyone in my most honest assessment.

It's despicable that you're still allowing hundreds of sellers to heavily price gouge Clorox wipes. Your eBay statement says that you are protecting your customers from being taken advantage of during a pandemic, and that you are removing such listing, but the practice continues to be an issue every day. It is unfair and unethical to allow this practice to continue when the product is nowhere to be found anywhere else, while eBay continues to profit from these huge markups.

I've reported hundreds of such listings to eBay but they continue to appear day after day. I'm very angered and disappointed by the way this practice has been allowed to continue for so many months. Please take the correct actions to prevent these listings from being permitted. Please heavily monitor the activities of such sellers by using a number of keywords that sellers are using to avoid being found in the system and take action against the sellers who are guilty of this practice. People need this product and do not want to be ripped off.

My confidence in shopping with Ebay is shattered!!!! I am appalled by the customer service response to my resolution and appeal. When I appealed the decision of non-delivery Ebay closed the case in 1 day in favour of the seller WITHOUT EVEN CONTACTING ME!!!! When I appealed that decision with 3 pieces of OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE from the courier company that my product was NOT delivered but returned to the seller with a proof of delivery and timed signature from an employee of the seller EBAY kept asking for more information. If it was not for the co-operation of the courier company who offered to contact the seller themselves and state that the consignment was returned to them I would have lost hundreds of pounds.

Eventually after 10 days of stress, anxiety and lots of telephone calls to the courier company, I managed to convince the seller that the consignment of furniture was returned to them. EBAY's customer service team were useless. I was getting multiple emails from different people from Ebay from the Philippines asking for more information. Two emails from the courier company with company headers STATING that the consignment was returned to the seller with proof of delivery to that seller was insufficient evidence for EBAY.

They linked my account to a complete stranger, and won't tell me how we are linked, nor will they tell me anything about the other person that they linked me to. All they will tell me is the eBay user name, and that we have a "strong connection". I have asked numerous times how we are connected, and what they have to do with me. They will not answer this question. Because this stranger screwed up their ebay account, ebay has locked me out of selling on my account.

I have explained on multiple days, with multiple people, that I have 0 connection with this other person but they refuse to acknowledge that. They keep saying I must contact this other person, and get them to sort out their account. I have explained that I know nothing about this person, and that if they couldn't get them to straighten out their account, how could I, a complete stranger, convince them of anything. Using the contact info they provided, which is only the ebay user name, I sent the other person an email through ebay, explained the situation to them, and begged them to sort out their issues with ebay. This was a few days ago, and I have received no response. I have all of this documented in an online chat I did with them. I also spoke with another person on the phone, who also was no help. Ebay is fraudulently linking my account with a complete strangers who is in default, just to try to get me to fix their issues for them.

For those of you reading this to determine if you should buy on eBay or not, here is a fact that I have not seen mentioned. Or at least mentioned enough. One way to decide on purchasing from sellers is to read their feedback. Well, for quite some time now ebay has allowed sellers to have their negative feedback removed!! Even when it DOES NOT violate policy, a policy that you will be hard pressed to find enough detail on. Some time ago I came across a seller (leecountymusic) that became very rude when they sold me an item not as described. Although ebay did help refund my money with their buyer protection policy, my negative feedback of this seller was removed. Feedback is there for a reason, to let other buyers know of your experience with them.

I was able to find a pattern of abuse by this seller by going back several years reading their responses to negative feedback before ebay allowed removal. They even had the gall to criticize someone for being Canadian!! It's all there for anyone to see which I believe they forgot, you just have to take the time. Just because a seller may be a power seller and makes ebay money, they should not be biased when someone has a negative experience. That's what the feedback system is there for.

It's no wonder this and other sellers can be verbally abusive and game the system. I think ebay and sellers have forgotten that they exist because of buyers!! There would be no platform if it wasn't for buyers! When there is a problem as a seller, let your customer service skills kick in and just deal with the negative feedback. Nobody expects 100% excellence all the time. If you are good at what you do, negatives will be low enough that potential buyers will take that into account. A seller has the ability to provide comments to feedback so let that be enough. At one time it was. But with ebay removing these at a sellers request, it creates an untrustworthy environment.

Overall ebay still gives the edge to buyers but once I became aware of the negative feedback removal process, I buy more across other platforms as I just don't trust their system. Finally, when you report an ebay user, their policy is to not follow up with you. This is just their way of ignoring issues and letting the negative stuff slip through the cracks. All of this tugs at the credibility of the entire system!! The high selling fees take advantage of sellers and the rating system takes advantage of buyers. How do you spell GREED?

I can't believe this site is actually legitimate. It is supposed to be a secure and trustworthy website, ensuring a money back guarantee. Yet there is no customer support representatives available and if you call you are directed to the website to resolve your issue. I was scammed out of $3000 by what appears to be one of Ebay's employees. The individual set up a fake post advertising a car and was able to access their letterhead and privacy disclosures. Not only that but the individual knew the entire process of car buying through eBay and sent correspondence from eBay motors. They requested payment in the form of eBay cards. It seemed legit.

When I found out it was a scam I was sure eBay would be helpful, but to my dismay I was told they couldn't recover my funds since they weren't accountable; they told me they could only investigate and freeze the cards that they had mentioned were already redeemed. They couldn't give me any information pertaining to this individual to give to law enforcement or file a lawsuit. This has proved that eBay does not provide customer support to anyone, but the scammer who was able to get away with such an unethical practice done on their website. Our brick and mortar fitness equipment retail store has been open for two years now, and started selling on eBay to find a wider range of customers. For reasons eBay will not provide, our business was targeted by their "Trust & Safety" department, to drag us through a mind-numbing bureaucratic process of proving our legitimacy. Even with multiple successful sales and only positive reviews, eBay was convinced we were offering items that did not exist, and so demanded documentation proving ownership of our inventory.

To begin this process, they halted all of our account activity, taking down currently listed items and deleting the history of every sale we'd made on the account. This made it difficult to furnish them with the requested documentation because we had no way of knowing what items we had sold on their platform without the account history. I asked them about this difficulty in every single one of the 20+ messages I sent them throughout this process, but they never answered that question. They never even acknowledged it.

When I tried to send them random invoices from our vendors on what items I could only guess we sold through eBay, they only replied over and over and over again with requests for that exact same information (all of the requests looked like generic copy/paste scripts giving the impression no one was even reading my replies or reviewing my uploads). I uploaded the same documents 5 times before I finally explained to them I cannot justify spending any more time on the matter, and will seek a more efficient solution myself. Through researching how other sellers deal with the inane harassment of eBay's support staff, I found that thousands of users are abusing the system in hundreds of different ways, and not just to stay off eBay's radar in order to sell legitimately.

There are many methods and tactics being used to create an unfair bidding/buying environment, avoid eBay and PayPal selling fees, redirect eBay traffic offsite etc, and those users are happily earning profits right under the noses of these "meticulous" watchdogs. So, while our business is taking care to follow eBay's terms of service, submit to their bureaucratic demands, and do business with eBay in a mutually beneficial partnership, other sellers enjoy a headache free and financially unfettered selling environment because the eBay support staff is so busy copy/pasting scripted requests that aim to crush a person's last nerve. There are many online selling channels to go through, and my advice is not to utilize eBay unless you are ready to be unscrupulous in your dealings.

I have made roughly 300 sales on Ebay and I have a perfect 100 seller rating. Recently, I've had my first issue with a scam buyer who claimed a used, but near-mint, puzzle was damaged even though it was shipped in secure packaging. The listing also showed the completed puzzle with zero defects. The type of damage the buyer is claiming is unheard of during shipping. The buyer claims that the upper layer containing the picture has naturally peeled apart from the cardboard layer underneath, but has done so in a manner where it's a perfectly clean cut with no other signs of distress. Puzzle pieces can certainly become frayed, bent, dented, chipped, and torn apart, but certainly not cleaved in half into separate clean cut layers the way the buyer is claiming.

Even the puzzle company's customer service said this does not naturally happen. It's a flat out obvious lie from the buyer. What's worse is Ebay spent literally only 5 minutes reviewing the case before deciding in the buyer's favor. I received two emails only 5 minutes apart about the dispute being up for review and then the decision. Mind you, I have a 100% seller rating and this is how Ebay has done me and now there is zero customer support to assist in appealing any decisions. On January 9, 2020, an order was placed from my mother's eBay's account for a denim jumpsuit, size Medium, the item was paid for with my bank card. The item was extremely small for the sizing and was deemed a manufacturer's mis-tag, so on 01/12/2020 a return was requested from the seller. The seller did not want to take back the item so a request was made for Ebay to step in.

On Jan 17, 2020, Ebay approved a return of the item, based on their money back guarantee and provided a link to print the shipping label. The item was delivered back to the seller Jan 22, 2020; the seller was provided with the tracking and was asked to issue a refund. On 1/27 Ebay sent my mother an email that the case was closed because tracking information was not provided. Please note: Whenever a shipping label is printed on Ebay's site the tracking number is linked to the item on the Ebay system and it shows when the item is delivered to its destination and there is no need to provide them with the tracking information.

This message was in the body of the email that was sent by Ebay with the approval: "You must send the item back to the seller by Jan 27, 2020 to be eligible to receive a refund. You can either print the label on eBay from the Resolution Center or use your own label and submit the tracking information in your case in the Resolution Center. If you use your own label, you may not be reimbursed for the return shipping. Once the item has been returned to the seller, you will be issued a refund." This information was confirmed when my mother and I called Ebay about the case.

It would appear as if someone at Ebay, aided and abetted the seller by closing the case without the seller refunding the money and to circumvent "Ebay's Money Back Guarantee". Because Ebay closed the return prematurely, I asked my bank to charge back the funds, being that the item was returned with Ebay's approval. The request was made on 2/4/2020 and they denied the charge back on 4/17/2020 stating that the seller says she does not accept returns. The seller has to follow Ebay's policies in order to sell on the site and I followed the correct procedures to receive a refund.

On 4/18 my mother filed a case with the BBB, Ebay said that they will refund the money, however the Paypal transaction ID that they provided is incorrect according to Paypal. My mother also contacted an Ebay rep. and was told that the transaction ID was for another account. When my mother uploaded this information to the case on BBB of Los Angeles, the person in charge of the case closed out the case without forwarding it over to Ebay. When I filed a dispute with Paypal, they claimed that they cannot find the transaction so I uploaded a photo of the transaction from my bank statement and they are giving me the run around. To date, I have not received a refund.

Lack of actual product reviews. Buying on eBay is risky. If anything, the buyer is the first one to stand at a loss. It’s far too easy for sellers to sell bad products and leave it on the buyer to deal with it. Without post product reviews, eBay leaves its customers at risk. Just poor business practice. If the idea is to protect the seller, they are doing wrong there too. I have no problem if a seller has 1 bad product. But and that one item should not tank the seller as a whole. If the seller offers 2 good products, then let them sell those and leave the bad products to die from lack of sales there. Why put the seller out for a review meant for the actual product????

    So at first I was all about eBay, but unfortunately this site's reliability to honor prices on products on their site is not good anymore. I have ordered and paid for multiple items {more than 6} on ebay which were then pulled and or not delivered. I am very disappointed for one my credit card I use gets multiple hits which then locks my card out due to my bank's fraud team. {Not their fault. They are doing their job.}

Products I then think I am going to receive never come, so I am then left searching on eBay and my Email to see what happened. That then delays me on whatever it is I am doing because I have to reorder product, go through steps to get my money back, pay more money and have to wait longer for shipping. It's pretty much bait and switch because I think I am going to get a great price on a item, buy it then get told it's not for that much, but I can go ahead and shop for another one or pay what they are now asking for it! SSSSHHHH. All I know is if I go to Walmart and find a bike for 10.99 instead of 109.99 they will honor the bike for 10.99$ no problem. Ebay should have to be held to the same laws period.

I have been a seller on eBay for quite some time. In this time as a seller ebay's customer service reps are LIARS (from my experiences) with little to no oversight or accountability as I have been reporting this issue (lying to customers) continuously for over 2 years and NOTHING has changed. In my experiences 80-90% of my interactions with ebay. There is no one who appears to care, you get different answers from different reps on the same phone calls (NO CONSISTENCY FROM EBAY).

A recent site issue I had with ebay on shipping was an utter nightmare as the reps I spoke with (3 calls 2 supervisors) all gave me different and conflicting info, my customer had the same experience, I eventually had to block the buyer because of all the bad info from ebay as the customer got mad. Greed well now seller are forced to use their managed payment system that is absolutely flawed and frustrating and understaffed (in my experience). 203 minute waiting. Are you kidding me. Now let's talk about service metrics. Ebay want to FINE its sellers on policies they do not enforce, lie to their sellers (from my experiences) about and have absolutely no control over this. Fine is 5% of total sales for a full year... their argument is it's an average. DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY EBAY but do they listen or care? No.

Let's now talk about fees. 10% of sales/10% on top of shipping final value fee/35 cent a listing after free ones, now in order to sell from my experiences one has to promote a listing in order to sell (or it sits hidden on ebay and takes months to sell). Mine fees last month was 6%/managed payments 2-3% / and does ebay care that our shipping costs are going up? Heck no. Keep fining and feeing the sellers. Well between ebay with fvf listing fees, promoting fees and managed payments well that's 16-20 percent of my sale. Let's add shipping. Well now I am get close to 40-45% of my sales. I have just unlisted all my listing and am going to FB. Less fees and less fraud to deal with and I do not have to worry about CSR (who appear to have little to no oversight and or consistency).

They continue to raise rates as they see fit with no regard to the seller. If you need an oddball part or something, might be worth it but anything more, stay away. All of the complaints on here for ebay are very true, IMHO. I've been a buyer and seller on eBay for many, many, many years. Ebay was a great company when it began. Do you believe that sellers were once allowed to leave buyers feedback? Yep! And when they took that away, the company began to change, and for the worse. Constant changes. You just get accustomed to the new change, then the new change, becomes the old change and you are forced to let them continuously shove these changes down your throat. You have no say, even though you are one of the "small people" that butter their bread! Sellers no longer stand a chance.

Shipping is through the roof. Some buyers (you know who you are) lie about items received or send back items used that were sent new or send back an empty box. "Yes, I've had buyers send me back empty boxes and their money refunded because they provided a tracking number and cases are decided by a computer in a matter of seconds, if you ask them to step in an help to "Resolve an Issue". I've also bought items on ebay and the same scenario. I bought a microwave and was sent a bracelet. I won the case and my money was refunded, but only after I contacted Internet Crime Prevention and my local law enforcement and filed cases which is a pain! Most of the buyers and sellers on ebay are Good, Honest, Hardworking people. I've purchased from and sold to a lot of Great people on ebay. But you'll always have those thieves who believe that they are Entitled!

I don't feel that ebay cares about us sellers or buyers for that matter any longer and haven't for a while. Their latest change, the Ebay Managed Payments Plan is the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back for me. Sometime in late July it goes into effect, I've read. There is no way that I am going to ship my items while ebay lets my money sit in their account to draw interest. So, I'm supposed to ship my item, pay for shipping of that Item, that has not been paid for until ebay decides to release the funds to my new checking account that I have to open because ebay no longer allows your money to go directly to Paypal (whom I trust) But you need paypal for shipping USPS.

So, I'm actually going to close both of my ebay accounts and find another forum to sell on. Even if I have to do it out of my trunk. Corporate greed and lack of leadership at ebay, I will no longer tolerate when it comes to letting them handle my money (whom I don't trust any longer). All of the above is my opinion, that I've concluded from what I have encountered while a member of ebay.

This is not first time I've encountered this. I purchased an item March 2020 and I write this review in July 2020 without receiving the item. The seller (weinan2018) avoided giving me a refund and refused to resolve my issue of the item never being sent. The price of the transaction was $90 USD. It is clear that I had succumbed to yet another scam and it will be my last as I refuse to use eBay this day forward, and will make it a point to tell others to boycott eBay should they express consideration of using the site.

The worst part is that I was trying to compromise with the seller for the item not arriving in May (the promised time for delivery). I decided to wait. Turns out that was the worst thing to do. After 60 days eBay refuses to help you get a refund and eBay makes it impossible to leave feedback for scam artists. I literally created an account on this platform to leave this review and to do my due diligence to help others not make the same mistake I had using eBay. I am giving eBay 0 stars because it is littered with scam artists, they fail to build a platform that fails to root out scam artists, and eBay support fails at their job to keep honest user's interests in mind. The fact that eBay refuses to help me get a refund translates to the fact they they support this behavior from their service.

To top it off they will not tell me what the issue is. They state "In order to protect our guidelines from being circumvented or manipulated, we decide not to provide the specific reason to our members" Which to me says that they are not telling their members what policies they are being held to. eBay is a bad company. They treat their buyers and sellers both very badly. eBay has stopped offering phone support for their customers. This means that if you have a problem, you have to reply on eBay's team of offshore reps assisting you by email only. The reps at eBay do not help you outside of the written scripts they have been told to read to customers. So, if you have a problem that requires any actual thinking, you're going to be out of luck. eBay also relies completely on stock email replies that often contain incorrect information about their very own policies and rules.

eBay treats their sellers much worse than their buyers. If you sell on eBay, and a buyer rips you off, eBay will automatically back the buyer no matter how badly the buyer has treated the seller. There are countless reports across the web about how badly eBay treats their sellers. eBay management adopts a "hands off" policy and will not even reply to letters that are emailed to them. You can fully expect that the CEO of eBay, Jamie Iannone, does not care enough about the eBay sellers and buyers to respond to snail mail of email communication. He will ignore and not reply to any communication sent to him. He represents the entire attitude of eBay, which is: they don't care about their sellers or buyers. The only thing they care about is the next dollar they can make from their marketplace.

Again, eBay is a very bad company that treats both sellers and buyers very badly. I highly discourage anyone from using eBay for ANY reason at all. Use eBay at your own risk. Based upon my experiences with eBay, I can tell you that you can expect a mostly miserable experience, and if you encounter any difficulty using their platform, your complaints and concerns will be completely ignored by eBay's management. That’s when he contacted me saying it was a big time fake product and I had to apologize and refund his money asap and all these transactions took over a month and now EBAY is saying, "There is nothing you can do about It." I can’t believe EBay let a thief open a account, sell fake apple product To steal money from me a member since 2002... Not happy at all and I guess EBay is not a safe place to buy anymore. It is ridiculous to mention collusion between eBay and a reseller in a straightforward manner. Big organizations like eBay rarely fall in such a mistake which drastically impacts their image and trusts with their buyers. However, they do this (perfectly) unintentionally by two aspects: the ignorance and the trap of procedures. The ignorance by weak monitoring to the type of posting and the details where the buyers are victims at the end due to ambiguity and poor posting quality. The second aspect is the trap of procedures that they are following by claiming fair procedures for the terms and conditions agreed between the buyer and the seller which is unfair. I did purchase 82 times and faced many problems in contradictions in the posting that I lost my rights in returning the item.

Furthermore, the sellers may design the page in a way to hide some terms and conditions that are not easy to read. When you raise a complaint to the resolution center, you get it an endless loop of correspondences with no avail end losing your money. Most probably, it is the time of falling the big organizations that it worth to find better alternatives in a small and mid range with ultimate customer support and fair transactions.

So I decided to buy it because eBay has a 100% guarantee. Well when the suit was delivered, it was not what I expected to say the least, I returned the suit because it was cheap garbage. The suit is now in transit to return but because of Coronavirus the delivery is slow. It took the seller a long time to deliver it to me and asked me to be patient because of the lockdown. But because my return is delayed for the same reason The seller opened a case with eBay to NOT REFUND MY MONEY, stating that the item has not arrived and LIED saying that I did not indicate that I shipped it.

The tracking number on eBay’s site and on the USPS site clearly show that it was received and in transit. But eBay did not even check to see if it was in transit or even check the tracking. They quickly decided that I would not get a refund. So now this crook.. at fashionhouseinc selling VINI Suits will have both the suit and my money. They make it impossible to make a comment, only the seller can comment, and the appeal system is a joke and complete waste of energy. It just keep send you in a loop with no opportunity to make a statement or any rebuttal. BUYER BEWARE! Don’t take the chance. There are plenty of sites that are easy to work with. Beware of entrusting Ebay's Money Back Guarantee. To avoid giving money back, Ebay improvidently sought to shift burden for seller's 30-day+ failure to deliver time-sensitive items over to us, rather than seller, to track down. Briefly, we relied on Ebay's seller's express listing representation of "fast [4/10/2020] delivery" in 4/3/2020 purchase of virus-related mask products rather than purchasing from Amazon with longer 5/2020 delivery date. Ebay removed the listed items from its site, and seller failed to deliver, all while retaining our nearly $200 payment for one-month. After being strung along by seller and numerous communications to Ebay for help, we purchased the items elsewhere and then followed Ebay's instructions to file for Money Back Guarantee.

On 5/5/2020, with items still never received, Ebay stunningly denied our claim "offering an alternative" to its Money Back Guarantee: Ebay's audacious offer was that we -- and not the seller --would need to somehow track down what happened to this seller's alleged shipment. It was only when Ebay learned that PayPal investigated and refunded our money in parallel claim for a related item purchased the same day from this same seller that Ebay reversed its denial. We felt victimized, twice over, The process was onerous. It not only demonstrated clear questions of legitimacy on the part of seller, but more concerning on the part of Ebay. Having been customers of Ebay for years, we found the level of Ebay's mishandling of this matter egregious, if not outright dishonest.

Ebay closed a dispute case without ensuring the seller sent me a refund for a defective product. I bought a modem listed as 'open box'. This means it is new, never used, and the box was opened. Upon receipt and after 2 hours of attempting with Cox Communications, the modem could not be activated on my network. This modem is on their list of acceptable products.

I immediately messaged the seller. He admitted it was not new. He said that he also tried to use it on his home network, and it could not be activated. He was hoping a buyer could have better luck. I told him I need to return it for a refund. He asked me not to return it, because he does not want it. He will immediately send me a refund, and I can throw the modem in the trash. I waited for a refund that he never sent. I told him I will open a dispute. He asked me not to do that. He is trying to figure out how to send me a refund. I did not believe this, so I opened the dispute and requested a return.

He accepted the return, but he never sent me a return shipping label. He said he still does not want the modem returned. He will just send me a refund somehow. When I realized he could not figure it out on ebay, I told him I will open a PayPal dispute. Their refund process is easier. When a seller agrees to a dispute, the refund is automatic. To this day, he has still not responded to the PayPal or the eBay disputes.

I will try make this long story short. I returned the product when ebay sent me a label. Ebay warned me that I need to ship it back or I they will close my case immediately without further action. I sent the seller a message to let him know what ebay said. He did not respond to me, so I shipped it back to him on April 14. Subsequently, he sent me a message on April 16 to tell me not to ship it back to him. He claims he was still communicating with ebay on how to send a refund. He received the returned product on April 17 and told me that the refund would be sent to me automatically. I knew this was another lie, because I have had refund cases in the past. This is not how it works. After that message, I have not heard back from the seller. He disappeared, and I am out my money.

With this in mind, I escalated my ebay claim for a resolution. They responded in 10 minutes saying they are closing my case without a refund. Ebay says they have a policy that an ebay dispute cannot be resolved if there is also a claim with PayPal. Coincidentally, eBay owns PayPal as well. Seems they have a conflict of interest. I appealed ebay's decision to close the case prematurely. I believe I have done everything correctly at every step in this process; however, ebay allowed the seller to get away without paying me a refund for a defective product.

None of this makes sense. This guy has my money, and I have no product. I should have received a full refund to include purchase price, tax, and shipping. By no means should I have to pay anything for this transaction, because this guy sold something that he knew did not work. On a side note, I believe sellers like this should be suspended by ebay. Instead ebay is aiding them in their quest to cheat honest buyers. I still have all the messages he sent to me where he admitted to selling something that does not work. I also have a few messages in which he agreed to send me a refund. I sent all of these messages to ebay for their review. The still refused to rule in my favor! I only asked that ebay do the right thing in accordance with proper ebay protocol, but I, the honest buyer and 20-year ebay member, lost my fight.

Saying you do not accept returns is a waste of time, ebay will make you accept them, try to make buyer send it back and not though ebay otherwise you will pay. Once received return, offer a partial refund which was cost of item less all postage. That way at least you not lost postage cost. If all this fails and you think you been ripped off note the buyer and when they are selling, buy some thing off them and return the favour. You can block people and they might block you so use a different account. It's easy to have multiple accounts.

eBay is a great alternative for Amazon and recently I have recommended them to others. In the past, a few issues have risen, and sometimes a mediator will consider the evidence and be fair. Sometimes, they are too busy to investigate or they just do not care enough to do so. I wish that were not so, as eBay has items that cannot be had elsewhere.

An item was ordered. Tracking said delivered. A package was delivered, but not the one in question. I asked for a case claim to be opened with UPS to verify the delivery - as directed by UPS in the attached image. eBay would not open the case with UPS, but rather closed my case as in the attached image. Too bad so sad, end of story. With the pandemic, we are confined to our house. Six of us. Another package was delivered at the same time reported from UPS, no problem. The package reported did not come. eBay refuses to try to help as does UPS. So I will exercise my only resources - Consumer Affairs and Social Media to try to inform others.

Hi everyone. Just my experience, hope yours is different. I had started a seller account. I was doing ok; so I thought for only having it a few months. Then they suspended my account for no reason? They wouldn't even provide a reason. They refunded people who had already been shipped items that cost me about $2500 dollars. The people are getting the refunds and the items too! I was locked out of the site so no way to take care of tracking or concerns. I am not getting reimbursed for this! They basically waited till 20 items were shipped then they locked me out and suspended my store.

Now they're charging me for 200 free listings that they gave me in promo. I am locked out of my account with no way to add tracking numbers for things and their issuing refunds and saying keep the product. Sucks but I am going to have to put a lien on these buyers & eBay properties if payment or merchandise is not returned. eBay really did the wrong thing here. I was doing nothing but honest business and they really dropped the ball on this here. eBay does not answer my emails and no one is answering calls. And their exploiting people at the expense of covid 19. We do not want to but we may have to seek legal action wherever we can. LOL..... eBay just ripped us off like a thief and without hesitation or accountability on their end.

This is crazy! LOL. If anyone has an input about this let me know? I am going to eat about $3,000.00 dollars because of them. Not the end of the world because I have money but it is the whole principle of their actions. And they need to be held accountable. Anyway, (Document Everything) (Everything) Something I learned a long time ago in business eBay is not your friend believe me. Thanks for reading. He then asked either I give him back $1200 to fix it or he's going to return the unit. I refused to give him the money so I was forced to accept the return due to eBay's "always protect buyers" policy. When I received the unit, not only the circuit board is burned, the unit was coated with coolant because he left off the cap. My lawyer friends couldn't believe it because they thought for sure I have a case (at least in the court). So, for 10 years I have bought/sold on eBay with no issues. The one time I do have a problem, eBay does not stand behind their seller protection policy or account for violations in their user agreement or money back guarantee (which if read in their entirety you will see a line exempting eBay from following their own rules). A buyer reported a false claim of a shirt being too short, like a crop top they said, yet the listing provided all measurements including the length (Google average length of crop top and it says 14") which proved the claim untrue. I had an issue with my return address which I sent multiple emails to customer service attempting to have them help me fix this. I also notified the buyer of every step I was taking to facilitate the return, asking them to contact me when eBay sends the label to verify the address.

eBay sends the wrong address, and the buyer never contacted me. I guess I needed to send 16 messages instead of the 15 I sent. The item gets delivered and eBay tells me to issue a refund. I send 15 more emails and contact the buyer. Again I should have sent 16 I guess because eBay debited my account and refunded the buyer. So I appeal and send 16 emails this time! Denied. I send 17 emails of supporting documentation to no avail.

Their response after another 18 (upping my game) emails was, "By closing the case for the buyer we're not saying that you did something wrong (whew! Glad they let me know this, (enter sarcasm)), but as we're never with the item (what? Of course they aren't, eBay relies on trust to create a safe environment for sellers and buyers, so they say), we look to make the most neutral decision (neutral as in what's best for eBay) that we can, and that is to refund the buyer since we have tracking that confirmed delivery back to you the seller (me screaming long and painfully)." I respond that while there is proof that an item was delivered, I have proof that a huge mistake was made by negligent customer service reps and the buyer who both knowing sent the item to the wrong address. They said they were sorry. I said close my seller account I am done writing emails.

I am also filing a notice to dispute with ebay's legal department, writing to the corporate office in CA, submitting a complaint to CA consumer affairs and the Better Business Bureau (I can't wait to see how many emails this is going to be). Now, this is not about the money, it is a negligible amount. It's about being an above standard seller for years without a problem. For always looking out for my buyers by refunding them and still sending them an item at my expense if I notice even the slightest snag in fabric I may have missed when listing. For giving away items for free and shipping for free if it is going to a military base. For never complaining and demanding unreasonable returns if I made a mistake buying. I still paid all of ebay's fees regardless of whether or not I made anything. My point is, eBay has behaved in a way contrary to what I agreed to and has completely failed me.

Oh yeah, and if you are selling or buying something expensive on eBay, read the user agreement carefully. Especially read the opt out of arbitration portion of the legal section of eBay. If you don't opt out within 30 days of opening an account, you will not be entitled to sue in a court of law and all disputes must be settled by arbitration.

If you are thinking about selling on eBay, be aware, they do not protect sellers. I sold two electronic circuit boards that were fully tested. After a few weeks the buyer wanted a refund. He claimed they were bad. I allowed them to be returned because ebay forces you to accept returns. When I got them back not only were they physically damaged but also electronically damaged. They were returned packed in highly conductive packing peanuts. After ebay issued the refund without listening to me they refused an appeal even though I had pictures of the parts returned and a factory authorized review of the damage this buyer caused. Beware when selling on this site. Fees are high, they report what you sell to the government and they do not back you when you need it. I would give less then a 1 if I could and I have sold off and on at this site for several years.

Well I did not receive a package and when I opened a claim with Ebay, they closed within minutes and said it was delivered and closed the case. Did not ask questions or investigate. Their process is terrible and I will pay a couple of more dollars shopping elsewhere. Their customer service is shameful.

After committing to buy and paying for item, I realized the error in the listing and I tried to cancel the purchase before the seller sent it out. Too late. He sent it out anyway. When it arrived I refused delivery and it was sent back.

The seller received the item back but eBay says they don't have the tracking number. They say they can't help with the refund because I didn't use their "shipping label" and I have to file with my credit card to get refund. My credit card says they can't claim credit with this seller and so I am out $27. The seller says I did something "fraudulent" and eBay closed my case and he has "no way" to issue a refund and eBay won't step in and force him to refund the money. What a huge hassle, racket and load of nonsense! I have been doing business with eBay for almost twenty years and they have always found a way to hose me down whenever there is a problem! There is nothing on my recipe or confirmation that states no returns. Seller said they would only credit 1/2 of the order. I said no. I attempted to return based on a return address (which had no company name just the name Lyn) The address does not exist. Ebay was absolutely NO HELP. I have had my my worst customer experience with Ebay after 15 years of being a customer. I purchased a used rear car seat for my 2017 Kia from seller who sent the incorrect colored ones. Obviously you are not going to put the wrong colored seats on your own car! I submitted for a refund which was granted and was given a shipping label. When I went to USPS I was told I would be unable to ship them because the shipping label was set up as 1st class mail. I reached out to Ebay and was told that the SELLER set it up that way and that it looked fishy at first. They went over my case and told me that even though it was mistake on the seller end for advertising the incorrect item. Ultimately they will be unable to help me with the shipping and they cannot force the seller to pay for it either.

She then went ahead and said, "I'm sure Fedex or UPS can ship it!" Why would I pay 200 to ship rear car seats when I paid 280 to buy them!! I can understand if bought the wrong ones but when the seller contacts you and verifies the vin over the phone and tells you those are the seats you are going to buy them! You are trusting them because you are trusting ebay! She then said because I submitted the refund incorrectly because I put that they did not fit that they can no longer change the outcome. SO WHAT? I made a mistake and your penalising the buyer over a simple mistake? It's not the right colors! I can understand a Shirt or something of small value. These are car parts!

The Seller even said that they made the mistake via ebay messages and the ebay rep went over it with me. The SELLER is admitting fault. Why is that buyer getting penalized. The rep then said, "Well if you leave a negative review he might change his mind." Can you believe that! Overall I will no longer use ebay and don't reccomend anyone or my friends to use it. If this is how they conduct business. If you can't trust Ebay to do the right thing how can you trust the Sellers. No thank you. P.S. parts seller is qualitypartsfast.

So I've been a seller on eBay for 14+ years, always with an excellent seller record, but last year, we had 2 parts, go out of stock for a few weeks, while manufacturer was out of stock also. We had 4 orders come in for a $12 wrench, and we had to cancel the orders due to them being temporarily un-available. Well ebay started charging me an extra 5% fees without any notice. Nor did they ever send a email stating what rate I was currently being charged.

After calling I found out I was paying over 15% in fees. We only make 10% on most of the products we sell, so we are losing money selling on ebay now. And after calling ebay, they said I would be charged extra fees, for an entire year, before they would review it and lower it back to normal which is between 9 and 10%. I get these messages every month from ebay saying my seller rating is below standard due to those canceled sales which happened over 6 months ago. Total ** and complete RIP-OFF. I'M Having an attorney look into this to see if it's legal for them to charge you more without stating so, nor telling you what fees you're actually being charged. Bunch of Thieves EBAY!!!

This is a terrible company. I bought items that claimed to be originals but they were counterfeits! How can eBay allow people to sell counterfeit items??? I also bought an item recently and there was no way to cancel the item after the order. Most companies give you the option to cancel an order right away; ebay does not. After I got the item, I returned it and was charged for the return, even though it clearly said FREE RETURNS on the product page. The seller told me that he can only give a partial refund while ebay would give back the rest of the money. There was no simple way to get the full refund; I had to call ebay and spend an hour on the phone in order to get the refund process started. In the end, they did not honor the full refund. They still owned me 1 penny. I made a big deal out it, only because out of JUSTICE, they owe the FULL amount back. It's absolutely unacceptable for them to steal money, if it's a penny or more.

It took another hour on the phone for them to finally own up to their mistake. They sent an email saying that in 48 hours I would see the full refund posted on my PayPal account. It's been 5 DAYS and I STILL don't have the full amount refunded on my paypal account. Other problems include: their emails have a ton of grammatical errors. Many of their operators are incompetent, and can't talk or write clearly. I had cases of operators chuckling and being rude, which is totally unprofessional, and ebay does nothing to discipline them.

So I am very new to selling on eBay and the convenience is undeniable. They put many rules in place and I trusted that as long as I followed their rules as a seller there shouldn’t be any problems. Couldn’t have been more wrong. I listed an item, a Honeywell touch screen touchpad alarm control panel for ADT, to be exact. I listed it for under $100, I cannot recall exactly but I wanna say $80.

About a month ago on a Sunday night I received a notification on my phone that the item was purchased. Minutes later received another from eBay stating that I received a message from buyer. I opened it and it said that they purchased the item because a certain piece had broken on theirs and the buy requested that I “expedite the shipping.” So trying to be a decent human I responded immediately stating that I would take the time to prepare it then and drop it off first thing in the morning and it would be out before 9a.m. and that I would send them the tracking information afterwards. So true to word I sent it out on my way to work and even paid $7 more than they opted for shipping and went on with my day.

It was about 11:00 am by the time I had a chance to stop and take a few minutes and put all the shipping information, and tracking number and I noticed that the buyer had sent another message. So I opened and it stated that she wanted to cancel the order for what ever reason and that she’d hoped I hadn’t sent it already. So I responded and told her that I had sent it like I said I would and I wasn’t sure how to deal with this situation. (I do know that there is the option to select no return and I had done so but that didn’t mean I wasn’t willing to refund her.) I didn’t say that to her, that’s for you readers. She responded accusing me of not following what I said I was going to do and basically said that I was wrong and that she was going to file a complaint.

The thing is that I did everything that I was supposed to and when I contacted eBay they affirmed my thoughts and told her that I followed policy and that she is not entitled to a refund. Again had this person just been a decent person and been accountable instead of trying to tell me that I had done something wrong, I truly would have refunded without hesitation. But she began with accusations and not to mention that I had went completely out of my way to “expedite“ the package. So all was well until the following day I received a notification from PayPal stating that I had been charged for the exact amount that the purchase was for.

When I contacted eBay they said they had nothing to do with it and that I should contact PayPal so I did. I was told that a complaint was filed and that they refunded the person and charged my account and When I attempted to get through to one, someone that English was their first language, I was told that I had to have eBay call them. So when I do that and have them both on the phone then I was told by a different eBay employee that I was told wrong and that there was nothing they could do. I was literally just dismissed by PayPal as if I was wasting their time. When I asked how they could make any decisions when they had not spoken with all parties, especially eBay seeing as how it was through eBay that the transaction took place. I was again just dismissed and told that they were not the one making the decision.

When I then again called eBay to attempt to get some answers because not only am I out the money that they charged me to refund this moron, but also the extra money that I spent to ship the package that doesn’t have my return address on it. I was very clearly told By eBay... "They have no control or say in anything once PayPal gets involved. PayPal overrides them because they are a financial institution". Nowhere did I once read when setting up my eBay account, that they have all of these “rules” in place that mean absolutely nothing. All anyone has to do is go to PayPal and eBay acts as if they weren’t the one that the transaction was through.

Then to top it off eBay bills me as if I completed a transaction through them and charge me $8 and change. When I asked why they didn’t make it very clear that they will do nothing to enforce policy or protect you as their customer once PayPal gets involved I was told that couldn’t do that. It literally made no sense. I will never use either PayPal nor eBay and they will never get that from me. Luckily my bank does treat me as their customer and protects me so they can keep their neg balance and shall it appear on my credit I will dispute it the Sec it appears. They are both opportunistic and ultimately people don’t matter to them.

Terrible service to sellers and the buyers have been provided with the power to work the system. Highly recommend going to Amazon which is what we decided to do for the following reasons: A seller can return items even when a listing CLEARLY states "no returns". All a Seller needs to do is claim the item is "fake" or "not authentic", or "not as described" and eBay will hold the funds until it is sorted out. If the Seller does not sort it to the satisfaction of the Buyer, and in most cases to the benefit of the Buyer, then the transaction will be fully refunded and the Buyer is then made to also pay for the return of the item. The other way Buyers scam the system is by damaging the item received in order to get a refund by claiming the seller sent the item already damaged (typically seen with buyers remorse).

Sellers are unable to leave negative feedback on a Buyer: Because of this, bad buyers have been able to bid, win, and NOT PAY for items they bid on. In one instance, one Buyer had 60% bad "written" feedback, however, it was shown as positive because the only way a Seller can provide feedback on a buyer is by selecting "Positive Experience" when providing ALL feedback to a Buyer, even if the experience was BAD. For more reasons on why you should sell your items on Amazon, Quicksales, TradeMe or any other reputable online auction site, check out the many complains and suits filed against eBay by searching "Criticism_of_eBay" on WikiPedia. FYI: Don't even think about selling on Gumtree either, aside from the small amount of visitors they get each month, Gumtree is also owned by eBay. Happy selling everyone!

On Dec 8, 2019 at 3:21pm PST we received an order for a Atelier Paris Chair - Bolier & Company (**). We entered the tracking for a blanket wrap, white glove delivery with FragilPac. However the driver called to say that he had come down with the flu and had pulled over and was resting but would be delayed. We told this to the buyer and he sent an inquiry to Ebay questioning if he would get the chair. So we re-booked with a freight carrier, placed the chair on a pallet and shipped it.

We were unable to place the new fright carrier in the order. We called Ebay and alerted them to that fact and were told to try again later. We tried for 3 days to replace the shipper in the order. We called again and were able with the help of a better trained operator to get the replacement shipper into the order. We had also sent the buyer the pick up receipt for the chair so that it would be in the Ebay system as there is no way to make good order notes in that system. So at this point the buyer knows it is on its way and Ebay knows because of the 2 phone calls into them to change the shipper info.

However, on Jan 6, ebay refunded the customer. I called in that day and spoke with Representative Jon. I asked specifically what I should do. I was told:

    1. "You are a valued Seller"
    2. "Ebay will stand by you"
    3. "Contact us when it is delivered and you will be paid immediately"

    4. "We have a way to collect for you through Paypal."

I kept in contact with the Buyer whose responses to my delivery updates were "fine" and "It does not matter when it arrives as I got my money back" to which we responded that he would be recharged. My next contact was with Bowther ** at Ebay when the chair arrived and was refused by the buyer saying he had "cancelled" the order. No one at Ebay or the buyer ever used the word Cancel until this point. I was told by Bowther ** that I had done the right thing and that he would get me paid as soon as I could send him the Proof of Delivery document. We sent that in but were not paid as promised. Tracking: ** PRO ** I called in again and was told that it needed to be reviewed because it was over 1000.00.

I called again and was told this time that the decision in my favor was reversed. I was put through to Leanna who heard the entire story looked up all the messages and documents and I was told: "This order was never cancelled, we will be deciding in your favor." I was told that my "funds would be available in 4-5 days." When the funds did not arrive I called again and spoke to Mei (may) who informed that the decision had been overturned at corporate. I asked to speak to her manager and she came back on the line to say her manager had reviewed the case and was manually entering the claim. And "you will receive your funds in 4-5 days."

At this point the shipper wanted another 450.00 to return the chair back to the East Coast. I had to make a decision and expressed my concerns to Ebay. I was told "100% you will be honored for this sale." I called back today and once again got LeAnna who informed me that once again the claim had been overturned by Corporate Ebay, and apologized that no one had contacted me to tell me. Each and every step of the way, we have kept Ebay informed, reached out for guidance, and did exactly as instructed. Exactly as instructed.

It is a challenge to have any problem with Ebay as more often than not you are speaking to someone overseas and their language skills and training range from passable to excellent. Both times we have had issues, one technical and this experience were hindered by the representatives misreporting the correct steps for us to take. But Ebay Corporate does not have these excuses. Ebay either stands behind what they tell their Sellers or they dont. They obviously did not in this case. It is unethical to have no way to contact or appeal a decision that overturns a positive outcome for their Sellers. Adding insult to injury, they marked the order a defect.

There is not reason to use ebay or Paypal. Both are no longer unique. Amazon will afford you far better service and greater protection.

As a seller on eBay since 1997, I will be closing my account, here's why. Today I get 3 ebay emails.

    1. A dispute has been opened.
    2. We have found in favor of the buyer.

    3. All fees are reversed.

Then I go to PayPal, and sure enough, $$$ in the red. I called ebay and asked why I wasn't emailed about the issue Jan 24 ... and only today Feb 4. Their reply; "we messaged you in ebay messaging.. I see in your account you never opened it". (Told him I never open them as they are spam.) I spoke to Jeff and at one point, I got firm because... even if I never said anything on behalf of the dispute at hand, the auction stated right in it 'no refunds' & 'used'. Why would they even need my input, the parameters of the auction are right there!

Why did they not send an email Jan 24? The auction stated as-is, refunds NOT accepted, used item, with 6 photos to show the items condition that it was NOT unused, new in plastic. They didn't want to hear from me I'm guessing, giving favor to the buyer... Seller be damned. The fact they rely on ebay messages only when it serves them leaves me to believe the company as a whole has thrown all ethics aside. I'll be closing my account, too many other venues.

One nice thing about eBay is that I bought a few unique items. My brother and friend had issues with payments not being received, so I did not trust eBay to sell, but I listed a few items two years ago as a trial. One was a fraudulent buyer, so my ad, that I spent a lot of time writing was gone. I had to call in TWICE, wasting one hour each time just to release it to try to sell it again.

Once our ads are in their Fraud section, there is no way to post them again. I was so disgusted, but I decided to try to sell again, only to find ANOTHER fraudulent buyer with the same useless support from eBay and even more hours of my time wasted. Each time, Ebay stated they needed time to fix it, but there was NEVER a call back. Both times, my ads were therefore off for 3-4 weeks until I had time to call in AGAIN and tell them they failed to call with the correction, as promised. Not having my ads on from their mistake cost me selling a seasonal item last year and again this year, as now there are billing mistakes. Each problem takes 2-3 calls to eBay and mine have STILL not been corrected.

One supervisor promised a credit for "eBay Bucks" to try to make up for the two years of problems, but it was never posted to my account. He “featured" my ad to try to compensate for four months wasted waiting for their Tech team to call me with a resolution, but I was billed for it, in error, each month last year. My account was placed into no further selling four times and it took several more hours of wasted phone calls for no resolution. I lost one sale, as it was during the year when I could not log in without a phone employee to reset my account, wasting more hours of my time. Three Supervisors refused to call me back again. If I didn’t call back my clients, I would be fired. One supervisor was great at first and he was fluent in English, but he failed to return my last ten email and phone messages that I left with their toll-free line.

Another Supervisor told me off and refused to help and told me off for not seeing that my bill is correct. The FACTS are, the bill was their billing error two months in a row. I did just sell one item the day before. She refused to listen and ignore the FACTS that the old bill was for the previous two months accumulative eBay ERROR and it is impossible to bill someone for an item that just sold and it was the wrong amount. Their arrogance is disturbing. She refused to listen to FACTS, so I told he she was no help and hung up. Another wasted two hours on the phone without resolution.

One item that sold last year, due to their billing ERROR, I was locked out of my account - again! I was unable to print the shipping information, as it never works. I had to call eBay again to get the to remove the fee AGAIN and that wasted two days. I then emailed the buyer and explained that I was locked out of my account because of eBay’s mistake. The buyer told me off and told me that unless I had it shipped that day, they demanded a refund. That buyer was angry at me, but it was not my fault that I was locked out - again! I did send it on Day 3. Most sellers take a few days, so I do not know why the buyer told me off. Maybe people are tired of the problems on eBay. I asked two supervisors to apologize to that buyer and own their mistake. They BOTH refused and laughed at my request. I did not want a bad rating from the buyer, but eBay doesn’t care about anything.

The lack of professionalism of the eBay ‘support' staff is astonishingly low. The have argued with me, refused to transfer me to a Supervisor and the biggest issue is their inability to speak English. Their Filipino accents are impossible to understand and it is so rude to call me “Ma'am” non-stop. I asked them not to call me that as I find is so rude, but they ignore me. At times, I hung up angry and called back with the hope of getting someone easier to understand. Canada is still in a recession and North America, as whole has many economic problems. I do not support a company that does not support NORTH AMERICAN jobs. There were a few comments on this posted here about the disgust with a Third World Country being inept to speak to us with ENGLISH! Amazon does not have this problem and at least they have North American job sites.

I read a few reviews here and I agree with the few that mentioned eBay may be ethically bankrupt and possibly criminal activity, otherwise, they would fix mistakes and fraud issues. There are so many options and Amazon actually cares, fixes mistakes and they speak ENGLISH when we call in. Each time I have to explain the problem, they act like it is an anomaly, but I see there are a lot of upset Users here, so I hope this does get the message across. I can’t see how I could trust them after three years of problems and lost sales.

IF you are a seller on eBay - beware. You only have the option to list positive feedback for buyers even if they cause you nightmares and then in turn buyers can leave negative feedback for a seller no matter if that seller tried to bend over backwards to offer good service. It is not fair!!! Also, buyers have gotten smart to the fact that when they open a "Case" against a seller for ANY reason, literally - the seller will give them their money back AND they get to keep the item because the seller knows that if they do not close the case with a full refund in 48 hours they will be penalized for ONE WHOLE YEAR with a increase in final value sales fees on EVERYTHING that they sell for not closing the case PLUS they will have a "Below Standard" rating for an entire year. Hence, ANYTIME that a buyer opens a case - sellers scramble to give a full refund and let them keep their item as well so as not to get into hot water with eBay and be punished for a year.

I made the mistake of trying to get a buyer to send the item back for a full refund after they opened a case and they did not want to send the item back, so eBay stepped in and gave them their money back, which was my money and eBay let them keep the item and because eBay stepped in to resolve the issue in favor of the buyer AS ALWAYS IS THE CASE, they punished me for an entire YEAR. So, now that buyers have gotten smart to the way that they can scam sellers out of their money and items - the buyers are continuously getting free items and their money back. I lose money this way at least twelve times a month and it results in me making very, very little money on eBay even though I work full time on eBay.

I ordered an item from a seller on eBay on 6-Jan. The shipping was advertised as expedited and the cost was $9.95. I didn't receive the item until 15-Jan. Expedited shipping takes a maximum of 3 days. I left a negative review for the seller stating it was due to shipping time. The seller contacted me and stated it was the post office's error, offered to refund my shipping, but made it contingent upon me changing my review to a positive one. That isn't how ratings work.

If the seller didn't agree with the rating, he or she could have replied to the negative review through eBay’s system, could have explained it was the post office's fault, and then stated shipping he or she would refund my shipping. Instead, the seller called eBay, demanded they remove my feedback; they did without consulting me and have left no option to leave new feedback. Then, the seller contacted me again and stated they removed my feedback, complained my feedback was unfair and I knew it, and stated I was going to be paid back through "karma". I told the seller I would be disputing the shipping charge with my credit card company. It was advertised as expedited when it wasn't received within 3 days.

I called eBay to complain to their feedback department about the seller’s gratuitous messages and eBay’s removal of accurate feedback. I spoke to Victor. He stated their eBay employee removed it because the item had been delivered. I don't think they bothered to read the contents of my feedback before removing the review. The review was accurate and eBay should have never removed the feedback. Instead, they should have advised the seller to reply to the feedback (so new buyers could read it) and explain the reason for the delay and the refund of shipping. I asked Victor to reinstate the feedback option so I could leave new feedback considering the unprofessionalism of the seller. He stated once removed, the buyer can no longer leave new feedback. He stated eBay would address the seller's e-mails with the seller and that is all.

Buyers and sellers on eBay rely on accurate feedback when making purchases. It is part of the seller's advertising as well as eBay’s. Buyers and sellers expect reliability, integrity, and trustworthiness from eBay. If eBay is removing accurate feedback at a seller's request, obviously eBay cannot be trusted. I'll further say that I believe it is a form of false advertising. BBB and Attorney’s General of California complaints have been filed.

They promote "Top Rated Trusted Sellers" and allow them to show 5 stars (not sure how that happened). I was able to find out, unfortunately after the purchase of a vehicle through eBay, that the seller's dealership actually rated F with BBB and 2.8 stars on Google review. Now after choosing to buy a vehicle from this seller because of eBay's "trusted" recommendation I am stuck with a vehicle that needs a new motor (issue was not disclosed). This is from an eBay "trusted" seller/ dealership who deliberately disabled the check engine light and hid the engine issue. An approximate added cost of $5,000 and eBay VPP refuses to cover the situation because of an umbrella stipulation in the small print, which does not cover vehicles over 10 years old.

BTW this is a 2003, so a 2010 would be covered under the same situation. This is the first and last time I purchase a vehicle from eBay. To all reading this, this isn't the first time this seller does this and eBay continues to allow them to be portrayed as a 5 star top rated seller. eBay does not protect your vehicle purchase, so read the fine print before you decide to purchase your next vehicle on eBay.

I send all hard signed items to Beckett, PSA, or someone else for authentication. Every card that I sent off for grading would not pass authentication. Meaning they are "fakes". After filing a claim with Ebay I have received most of my money back but not all of my original purchases. I have not been given a penny for the authentication fees which is as much as the cost of the cards.

This seller has a 100% rating with over 4000 transactions. How? I did a review on all the purchases from this seller letting other buyers know that the cards are not authentic. Ebay pulled all my reviews because that I received money back from the seller. The seller now has listed some of the fake cards again which he sells 30 or so every week on auctions. A month ago I purchased a autographed baseball jersey from another seller. When I received the jersey it did not match the photos of the jersey that I had purchased. Pictured was a jersey with team insignias, world series, patches on both sleeves. The jersey that I received had nothing on the sleeves. The seller told me that it was not a big deal and offered me nothing off my purchase. I returned the jersey to the seller and wrote what small review that I was allowed by Ebay.

The seller emailed me back and told me that I was a crybaby and he was going to block me from his account. I would never buy from him again anyway. Once again Ebay pulled my review on this seller and told me that the seller paid me back and that I could not leave a negative review. Ebay is either part of the solution or the problem. Ebay has allowed seller to openly commit fraud against buyers just to receive their selling fees. This is only 2 of 15 or 20 cases like this that I have had happen to me in the past 3 or 4 years. Other buyers don't really know about a lot of the seller because of the protections that Ebay affords them. I have cut back from Ebay and try to use other vendors for my purchases whenever possible.

Absolutely the worst customers service! As a seller I was calling to question the new practice of charging my customers sales tax since I am in a state that does not have sales tax. The first person I spoke to was "Glenn". He could give me much information other than a standardized speech so I asked to speak to a supervisor. "Peter" the supervisor go on the line with me. He was horrible to say the least. He spoke over the top of me, he was condescending and rude! I simply wanted to know who and when this tax issues was mandated. "Peter" went all around the issue and finally gave me the answer I was looking for...mandated by the Supreme court, only he couldn't say Supreme Court. He said Supreme Ruler.

In his speech all around the issue he told me he knew what he was talking about and that I would need to get the details from my state tax expert (I live in Oregon and we do not have sales tax). When I pointed this fact out to him he got even more condescending towards me. As a seller, as a user, and as a 70 year old woman I resent my treatment by Ebay customer service. I may move over to Amazon in the future for my sales as I will not stand for this abuse from a company I do business with!

I sent the gift card information by mail to the buyer Nov 30. Dec 2 the buyer said that the information arrived and the gift card was used. To make the story short after investigation with the airline it was disclosed to me that Dec 1 someone from Philippines purchased a ticket to the US from Philippines. When I called eBay they told me I was protected and I will be paid as I am protected. This decision was overturned twice and the final decision by eBay was to restrict my account even after I explained them it was not my fault.

Ebay has an answering service and resolution team in the Philippines. I suspect that there is a collusion between the local representatives and the hacker who stole my private information. It is common knowledge that philippine is one of the biggest harbour of hackers and EBAY is helping them access our info. Every time I call eBay in the past month I get the Philippines office. I am tired of calling them in order to get a US rep. Be aware.

I have been selling and buying on eBay for almost 20 years with a 100% feedback. But when I moved to a different region and tried selling, eBay blocked me, and redirected me to endless links to so-called "re-authenticate" myself. In the end, because the system was totally automated, I could not get to the correct link to re-authenticate myself.

Why should a 100% longtime feedback seller/buyer need to go through that hassle. I have been treated with suspicion due to changed regional selling, and being almost impossible to get a real human being to help me, I had to to start a new seller account with 0 feedback. When I see buyers lambasting my 0 rating on FaceBook and told others to stay away from me, my heart sank.

Anyway, some buyers bid on my items and the final bid values are OK. Now comes the second big hurdle eBay put in my place: because I am new, they put all buyer payments on hold for 30 days and expected me to ship my high value items to buyers before the monies are released to me. I find this unacceptable because of a risk to me for not getting paid or cheated. eBay customer service sucks. PayPal customer service sucks. I called both and each refer me to the other and to the buyer, asking the buyer to call eBay/PayPal to release the monies early. None of that happened.

I got so fustrated that I cancelled all sales and listed my stuff on Craigslist. That solved my problem. I sold everything on Craigslist and got paid in cash upon collection. Due to my bad experiences with eBay and PayPal, I have decided to quit that selling platform and sell on Craigslist from now on. No eBay BS to deal with, and much faster and more efficient transaction. Congratulations to eBay for upsetting a long time customer with so much BS...up yours!

Awful customer service with nothing but company line responses. I'm not sure I can think of one good thing to say about them. Oh, and by the way they treat your money like it's their money. I purchased a laptop on eBay that was advertised as the highest end version that that particular model. The seller sent it to me and it turned out to be the lowest end model. I contacted the seller and he was immediately over the top rude. "Take a breath, relax," that kind of thing, not "sorry" never that. My offer was to pay the price he had started the bidding at, that myself and another person were the only bidders and since the specs were wrong I was willing to still over pay for the item, but not pay more than his original asking price. His response was to offer me 100 or I could send the item back. I had told him that it was a blizzard when he mailed the item so to be careful packaging it.

When he said I could send it back he said "good luck with the blizzard" which I took as the final straw that he was clearly a scammer and was going to try to cheat me on the return. At that point I said I was tired of dealing with it and would take the 100 refund but I was going to leave him negative feedback because his customer service was horrible. His response was negative feedback=no money back. SO I agreed and when he refunded the money I left him positive feedback where I called him dishonest and to be avoided. Ebay deleted that feedback and their position that in fact, I was the scammer.

Somehow through all of it, me getting the completely wrong laptop, being told I couldn't get any money back if I was honest in my feedback, and lie after lie from this seller, now ebay says I was the scammer. I tried to walk the guy through the conversation and explain how he was misinterpreting it and he said "no, you're lying, that's not what happened, you're trying to scam the seller."

I paid for one thing, I got something completely different and then the seller was rude throughout the entire thing, I got a 200 dollar laptop for 300 and somehow I am a scam artist. They deleted my feedback and then labeled me a scammer. Oh and to top it all off that seller then went to Yelp and posted my information, and used ebay's assertion that I was in fact the real scammer as proof and posted it all. Ebay still says I am the scammer, that guy was genuinely rude about it like I was trying to pull something. I am genuinely flabbergasted for the first time in my life. A buyer filed a refund claim for an item I sold to them (first refund claim ever filed against me) but I challenged it and eBay ruled in my favor (buyer's remorse). The buyer later filed a fraudulent refund claim with PayPal and won. I lost the money on a perfectly legitimate sale and eBay still wants me to pay the fees. I told eBay that PayPal stole your fees so get it from them and close my account because eBay is unable to protect its sellers from fraudulent refund claims. Needless to say, eBay didn't close my account and still asking me for the fees.

Ebay has been in a steady decline for years. It treats sellers poorly with price-gouging fees and selling policies that maximizes eBay's profits which often hurt sellers' ability to make a profit. The decent, honest sellers have been steadily replaced by dubious sellers and scammers. My advice is to stay far away from eBay. It's a marketplace that you're more likely to be fleeced. For that matter, avoid PayPal transactions, too. It's no surprise that PayPal is crooked since eBay once owned them.

I sold something, paid for shipping out of pocket (which is to be reimbursed and definitely was not reimbursed) then they deposited the funds to the incorrect PayPal account. Luckily it’s an old one of mine so I have access to it. However, they placed a hold on said funds until the buyer received the sold product. Fair enough. That’s buyer protection and I totally understand that. However, since the item has been delivered I have been on the phone with their atrocity that is customer support about the hold not being lifted. THREE agents, that’s right, THREE (including one from their payment processing center who was the only competent and nice person I spoke to) all said they put in the release for funds yet according to PayPal they had not.

Each time I’ve called back they have told me they still have a hold on it and they don’t know why. So they put in another request to release the hold. Yes, you guessed it, I am still here with money sitting in the wrong PayPal account that I have no access to because eBay can’t get their ** together and figure out how to release the money that is rightfully my own. Keep in mind I never was reimbursed for shipping as is outlined would happen in their seller policy. Trust me. I read it. All of this for $33.12. My God. I can’t even imagine a large transaction. Absolutely ridiculous. I will never sell on eBay again and I mean NEVER. I’m still praying I get my money from them and it isn’t stuck on a permanent hold with no solution.

To reconfirm this and determine the ACTUAL profit margin for selling on eBay, I ran a recent test. Here are the results: Expenses and Fees: 1) Listing fee $0 (promotion, saved $4.85 according to eBay); 2) Final value fee $1.13; 3) Final value fee on shipping $1.86; 4) Paypal transaction fees $1.95; 5) Actual shipping cost: $33.98 (large item). Income: 1) Winning bid $10; 2) Shipping $34.64(calculated by eBay). Result: Total Income: $44.64; Total Fees & Expenses: $38.92; Final Profit: $5.72; Final Profit (if no promotion): $.87. My conclusion: The fee framework on eBay is fundamentally broken if you are an individual looking to sell a few items. Without access to a promotion, it's not worth listing an item. Even with a promotion, think LONG AND HARD about how much return you'll get from the listing.

She didn’t want to pay for shipping so the case ended up being escalated to ebay resolutions team.

The resolutions team sided with the buyer which is fine. I just requested that my bag be returned to me in the same condition that it was shipped. I have been waiting to hear the status of my bag for over a week. There was nothing. So I logged in to ebay and I found a tracking number. I tracked my bag to see that the buyer had shipped my bag to my old address which I had updated prior. Ebay has refunded her the money and I still dont have my bag. I contacted ebay and they told me that it isnt their fault. It's beyond their control.

I wish I could share the messages between the buyer and I and how she was so difficult and unwilling to work things out. But yet ebay sided with her and I am not only out of the bag but I am out of the money for the bag. The customer service manager Gerald, was so heartless when I was talking to him about the situation, he didnt even want to give me the corporate office number or email or address. It's sad to say but the people that do things the right way end up losing in the end. I will be seeking more help on this issue.

I have been a long time ebay customer, and made about 1,000 purchases to date, with no problems- until now! Suddenly, when making a purchase, I was told that the system "cannot process your payment". I tried another debit card, and the same result. I had five calls to ebay and PayPal, who handle their credit card payments, and got five different answers as to what was wrong, and NONE of these was able to solve the issue for me. I spent a total of 2 hours on the phone, getting nowhere. To anyone thinking of buying on ebay, beware- they seem to want you to use PayPal credit at 25% interest instead of your own charge plate or debit card, to make more cash! Customer service was awful and nothing but a runaround.

In August I bought a Waterpik sonic flosser and toothbrush from eBay. Saturday morning I went to brush my teeth and the brush didn’t work. I plugged into another socket and It still didn’t work. I called eBay for a solution to my problem. Call the manufacturer? Get a phone number? Instead I was transferred to PayPal, I explained the situation, again asking for support. I was told to answer some questions and they would put in a claim. And I would get a decision. I told the person I still needed a decision. Sunday night I got a series of emails from a guy named Mike. I hadn’t heard of him. I assume that he was the seller who eBay represented. The emails were offensive, condescending and nasty.

Today I received an email from PayPal. The claim was denied. I asked for support not a claim. I called eBay tonight. Explained the situation and asked for my account be closed. She pulled up my order (I have a copy). Then she couldn’t hear her. After a round of hello hello I hung up. I received an email telling me she had called back. Strangely my phone had no record of an incoming call from eBay. I called back asking that my account be closed. Alfredo, with whom I spoke could not pull up my order although the girl I spoke to found it 20 minutes before found it. Alfredo said he would call me back to confirm the cancellation. I haven’t heard a word. Simply, if you want product backup, don’t want an incredible run around, and a company that knows customer service and delivers it in a language that is understood, forget eBay. Remember Amazon.
