Ebay sold me counterfeit Dewalt batteries and refuses to refund the money. I took the batteries to a Dewalt Service center, they told me the batteries were fake and not to use them. Where is Consumer Affairs on this. You need to stand up for the public. This is happening and most people are unaware eBay and their sellers are scamming them.

Ebay is horrible and it is sad the government does not step in to stop them from defrauding us customers. They did not make sure the seller gave me the correct products that I ordered. Then I asked the seller for a return and they closed the return window before the return/refund date. This is illegal and fraud. Ebay said this was wrong for them to do this to me, but they did nothing to get me my money back. I had to contact my bank and credit card now to get my money back. They have no customer service to call and they outsource everything overseas so you get someone who has no authority to make it right and fix the problem. Ebay is horrible and it is sad the government allows them to rob and steal our money. What a corrupt company and world we live in...sad and disturbing.

But since it was covered by eBay they would had taken care of it. Which they did not and closed my case saying they cannot issue me a refund. I have a few order coming in and they will by my last orders with this cheating company. I will never shop with them again rather I’ll be closing my account. eBay needs to learn from Amazon how to take care of their customers.

After reading over numerous reviews I noticed that the major issue is about eBay restricting accounts an not paying what is owed to the seller. I am absolutely flabbergasted over this and how there still getting away with this. I've been with ebay for many years. I have 100% pos. Feedback with not one complaint. I took some time off and then I had a few things I figured I would sale to help me and my family financially for a little bit. It was almost $1500 and they restricted my account the day my payouts were supposed to be sent to my bank. I have called at least 7 times and get told something different every time. By now everything has been delivered to the buyer and all gave positive feedback and now they still are saying I have to wait 72 hours for an email blah, blah, blah. I am so over it. Not to mention their customer service is absolutely ignorant and don't care. How can they just keep our money?

I would give a zero if it was an option. I had just completed my first listing when I received a notice that my account was suspended. They sent a canned email with no explanation as to why, only possibilities. Their AI agent is useless, but finally, I figured out how to get to an agent (you have to request it through the AI agent). I sent an email. Their reply was prompt, and they asked a few questions. I answered the questions honestly, and then very quickly received a reply that my account was permanently suspended, only stating that my account "poses a risk" to their trust, and I would never be able to buy or sell anything on eBay. In that case, every account must pose a risk. No worries, though, I can live without them. Seller beware.

I received an email from eBay telling me the seller opened a case against me for not returning the item on 3/6/2024. Ebay agreed with the seller and sent me an email saying they agreed with the seller and I will not receive a refund. I asked for an appeal. I closed my account with ebay. They can keep that money they needed it worse than me. I tell anyone ebay is not good to deal with. I feel I was scammed by ebay and the seller.

They even furnished false information to my credit card company showing the refund that never happened. In addition I purchased another faulty item and left a neutral feedback. The seller contacted me and stated that they would refund my purchase if I changed my feedback to positive, Otherwise there would be no refund. I refused and hope they fail the same as ebay will. Selling on ebay is a lose, lose situation, if you sell something and someone wants to return it, if you don’t refund the money you lose the item and the money. If you sell something and someone wants to return it and you do refund the money if they don’t return your item ebay does nothing. So you're pretty much out either way. I was bidding on an item on eBay on 12/18/2023, which had a high bid of $406.00 from another bidder. I started bidding and indicated that I wanted my max bid to stop at $520.00. eBay then increased the bid to $413.00 by me. It stayed at $413.00 until 2 seconds before the auction ended and then jumped to $530.00 and said the auction had ended. No other bids showed up on the screen. When I looked at the bid history it indicated that my bid was increased by eBay to $520.00 right before expiration and they allowed a bid of $530.00 to beat mine after the auction had expired. (See the attached screenshot) In other words, eBay increased my bid to my max amount to OUTBID MYSELF and then accepted a bid after the auctions expiration time. When I called and spoke with a bidding supervisor, she speculated that a number of bids must have taken place within milliseconds of the expiration, which caused my bid to reach the maximum amount.

I asked her if that was the case, then why didn’t any of them show up on the bidding screen. She couldn’t answer that question nor could she see other bids on her end. I then asked her why they allowed the final bid that beat me to take place after the auction expired? She claimed that their policy is that if the auction expires at 10:47am it really doesn’t expire until 10:47 and 59 seconds. I asked her to show me in their bidding policies, or any of their policies, where that is listed. She admitted that it isn’t listed in their policies. Really? When you go to a sporting event and the game is over when the clock hits “0”, is it really over at “0 and 59 seconds? When I complained to the BBB about what transpired, I got a totally different explanation from eBay as to why they accepted a bid past the expiration time. They said if the ad was posted at 10:47:10 seconds then that is when it really expires.

I asked them if that was the case, then why don’t they post the exact expiration time on the ad because their sophisticated software is surely capable of doing that? They once again, had no explanation why and it isn’t posted on their website. When I asked for the total bid history to show that there was a reason for them to up my bid to my max amount they tried to tell me they couldn’t give me that because it was a matter of privacy. So, the bid history they posted on their website, which they claim was not the complete history, is ok to post but the complete history is a matter of privacy.

Ebay upped my bid to the max at the last second in what appears to be an attempt to maximize profits. They also create nonexistent verbal policies to allow invalid bids to win expired auctions in what appears to be an attempt to not get sued or investigated for deceptive business practices. They engage in deceptive and probably illegal sales policies and don’t care.

You would think that one of the biggest auction sites would have a good way to get questions answered. Wrong. As a seller, I had a simple question "I set shipping at $5 and the email I received from Ebay said buyer pays $4.21 for shipping. Why?" Of course the AI is a lot more artificial than intelligent, so it couldn't answer the question. Could I reach a real person? No. Not via chat when I requested an agent and not via callback. I'll let my current auction run its course, but I'll look for other sales channels for the balance of my inventory. I would give zero stars if that were an option.

There is no live person to talk to you no matter which way you try. EBay uses an artificial agent to chat with you while those "agent" never understands what the issues are. They only give a link where your issues definitely are not listed. And to return a merchandise, you need to pay for the return fee. Be alert! Ebay's general customer service is not good. It is a bit better for buyers than sellers though. Recently as a buyer I had them pull money out using an account they were not supposed to with the new best offer program, requiring a payment source before the offer. They opted to use a bank account I never use, that is empty, rather than the payment source I authorized. This is because it is cheaper on fees for them.

After numerous overdrafts because of this, I talked to 2 different agents that supposedly made a support ticket, and "would make sure it was fixed". Still pulling out of the account I never authorized racking up fees. Calling Ebay again, they refused to connect me with a supervisor to address the issue, and then hung up the phone. Not once, but three times. This level of narcissism is only something I've encountered post Covid. Everyone seems to think they are the most valuable asset in a company, and it empowers the garbage workers to pull this nonsense all the time. Seems worse at ebay, but its seems to be a problem everywhere from my observation.

Now I am having to fight this out with the bank on the fees. They argue It was something I bought. True. But I never authorized the withdrawal from that empty account, therefore irrelevant. I'm sure others have had similar issues. THIS is how class action lawsuits get started. They use the fact that they are the biggest auction site on the web to negate the negative repercussions of their actions. Most people will deal with a company even if they feel screwed if they think there is still some benefits. I think they should be boycotted out of business, and let a better company take their place.

As eBay elected to support a dishonest buyer at the seller's expense I decided to spend the day finding every way I can to warn others not to sell on eBay as if there is an unethical buyer eBay will not only back the buyer but will make the seller pay the shipping both ways. EBay arrogantly thinks they can stick sellers but I can assure you no one with a drop of intelligence should sell on eBay as they will totally reinforce corrupt buyers. I’m just thankful I quit buying cars and business materials on eBay years ago when last robbed. As an example I needed a part today that is $258 on eBay. I gladly just paid $348 on Amazon knowing they have ethics and I will not be robbed. As for the brand new humidifier you are sticking me with I will take it to a local charity and in the future will give away anything I don’t need. Unethical behavior will catch up with eBay.

"Over the past 13 years, I've dedicated myself to selling various items on eBay. However, recent experiences have left me disappointed and concerned. In several instances, I've faced the frustrating situation where customers returned incorrect or damaged items. One time, the product I sold was returned with entirely different contents, leading to a loss in both the case and my investment. Another instance involved a returned item with broken parts, and most disheartening was receiving an empty box in place of the original product I sold.

These experiences not only resulted in financial loss but also left me with defective devices that are of no use. My attempts to seek resolution through eBay have been futile, and it appears that seller protection is severely lacking on the platform. The increasing fees on eBay add to the strain, making it an impractical and costly place to conduct business.

After 13 years of loyalty to eBay, I find myself at a crossroads, looking for alternative platforms where my business can thrive without these recurring issues. I urge fellow sellers to consider this experience as a cautionary tale. Selling on eBay might seem appealing, but it could lead to wasted time, money, and a heap of unwarranted stress. It's time to explore new horizons in online selling." WARNING. DO Not Sell on eBay, Warning.

She insisted on a return which I refused (my listing said "no returns" and I've substantiated authenticity of the item). Ebay put my payments ON HOLD, which won't be released unless I accept a return. I've contacted Ebay several times, and they just send me into an endless customer service loop, and they will clearly do nothing. On a recent clearly false return request by a buyer, I was totally surprised by the difficult loops I had to jump through to get eBay on my side and to agree with my standpoint. After numerous and strenuous email messages, I finally was put in the right and all related expenses to this “sale” were reinstated on my account.

This whole procedure definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. The criticism one can read on several social media stating that eBay always (at first) side with the buyer is an understatement. They hardly open a case in favor of their sellers. I did not know but know now! Furthermore, eBay controls completely how and when they will perform a payout to you, the seller. They keep your banking details as a hostage. You cannot close your seller’s account since you cannot remove your bank details from it - without eBay’s approval. This entire ordeal was very scary for me. I felt totally helpless and at the mercy of big eBay! Luckily, it turned out OK for me. I intend not to go through such trauma again. I am moving my items to other selling sites.

I had a brand new, never used and still in original condition and case ‘Yellow Jacket’ (a unique tool for diagnosing industrial refrigeration leaks) to sell which I researched the manufacturer value at around $700, and I found that it was listed between $500-750.00. While on eBay during my research I was given the option to sell it on eBay so I went ahead and created an account and as I went to list it for $300 they insisted on me selling it on eBay for $150 or to the ‘winner’ which I really didn’t understand plus they said they would probably need to ship it which again I didn’t understand what they were implying. I also listed it on a couple of other websites but then I actually ended up selling it to an acquaintance who I actually wanted to help.

As soon as I had it sold I went onto eBay and the other websites to mark it as sold and immediately eBay said they sold it and they were shipping it to the ‘winner’ so again I informed eBay that I already sold it and I was directed to their support who told me not to worry and that they would take care of the issue. I was relieved until I went to check my emails and found several demanding and even threatening emails from eBay. I was told to contact the buyer and when I did I told him that I had sold it and that the support team was taking care of the issue. The support team told me that the buyer would be refunded and for me not to worry but then eBay was demanding that I get the tool to the ‘winner’ immediately because they had already created the shipping label which cost $30 for which they suddenly were informing me that I was the one who had to pay for it.

I reminded eBay that the minute I had sold the tool I immediately notified them and they never mentioned anything about the label, in fact their support team told me that they would take care of the issue and for me not to worry. In the meantime the buyer ‘winner ‘ was starting to harrass me because eBay was telling him that I had his money and that I had to get it shipped to him. Well I didn’t have his money or any money including the $30 eBay was demanding and threatening to take me to court for. Number one I never agreed to pay for the shipping of a $700 tool they’d tricked me into selling for $550 less than the price. Then they wanted to include their fee on top of a $30 label which would’ve left me less than $100 for a $700 tool.

I did sell it for the $150 to someone else who needed help so it was worth it to me for the purpose of helping them. And I know that Jesus said things like to turn the other cheek, if blah blah is hungry or thirsty or naked to give give give but I don’t think that Jesus ever said to be a dumb doormat. Sorry but if anyone can show me where Jesus said to be dumb or a doormat I would love to see it but I don’t think so. Anyway I’m now blackballed from eBay who thinks I owe them but as far as I’m concerned I don’t owe them anything and they didn’t have to go ahead and create a $30 label to use as an intimidating tool against me so they can get me to get the tool back for their profit.

Nor easy step by step guide on how to actually profit when selling on ebay, the shipping calculation is a mess, and the deductions you get hit with after you get paid out hardly makes it worth any of the effort. Even worse, if you are in contact with a scammer, this happened to me several times, and you contact ebay customer service to confirm if each step of the scammer's process looks fishy, they will say "just proceed with the scammer's refund request, and make sure the messages are all done through ebay."

Then when your damaged product gets returned to you from the scammer, EVEN THOUGH IT ARRIVED IN PERFECT SHAPE, and you contact ebay about the condition your product was returned in, then they will transfer you to the fraud department, where people who actually know how to identify a scammer, will finally tell you that you got scammed and in the future to follow certain steps. That is not following the Federal Trade Commission’s rule. The federal mail, internet, or telephone order merchandise rule.

Also unfair trade practices considered unlawful under Consumer Protection Act. Seller never shipped and/ or followed FTC rule. Seller didn’t initially respond. Seller did however through eBay messaging stated sorry so don’t have them. That was after I had asked for order to be shipped or refunded. I also stated it was bad business practices to not respond to buyer's concern. I asked for a refund again and buyer stated OK. Then nothing. eBay stating despite contacting and initially working on an approved provisional refund then didn’t. I was asked to wait and they made it seem it was going to be taken care. Then I contacted eBay 2 weeks and told it was past guarantee despite not being a set time not tracking when it would ship. Seller made no effort have product or fulfill order.

eBay didn’t help me nor take seller post down. People could still purchase product despite me reporting seller and product page. I didn’t want others to go through what I did. I even called two more times and they admitted they could see seller didn’t sell items and admit to not having it but wouldn’t help me nor take seller product page down. The seller reviews dropped to 88.6% and had other complaints. eBay is more concerned of getting their cut from seller from product I didn’t get than make it right and change policies.

Pre-orders creates risk of going out of eBay guarantee and allows predatory business practices and buyers to be scammed out of not getting items. I also didn’t get a refund. Yes they took my money and do care to make it right. I feel bad for sellers that do make a great job but after losing 61.44 I can’t justify using eBay anymore. It’s unethical and pre-orders shouldn’t be allowed without protections for consumers to ensure FTC rules are followed. It was deceptive to make it seem I would get this product if I ordered it. eBay allows this and fully knows and is OK with these predatory business Practices. I feel exploited and taken advantage of. There was no intent to fulfill order and have ethical business practices. I had people I talked to say eBay is a scammers playground and I shouldn’t be on their anyway. I guess I learned that as I’m without a refund or product.

I also around the same time bought two 5 pound dumbbells for almost 17. That price was too good to be true. Seller took longer to ship about two weeks. Then FedEx tracking showed a house I didn’t recognize. The box in the picture was way bigger than necessary for two dumbbells. I contacted seller and same issue happened. It was tracked again to another house I didn’t recognize. I messaged seller and insisted on a refund. Seller stated would refund. Next day seller states was going to ship again and didn’t provide a tracking number. I insisted on a refund. I figured out by then seller was a scammer and wanted to waste time so order would fall past eBay guarantee. Seller did refund later that day.

It's easy to google scams on eBay. That was FedEx tracking number scam. eBay doesn’t plan to fix that either. eBay doesn’t care to change policies either I asked. Why did I even bother? I would’ve spent more money on eBay but I will not now. I haven’t ordered anything from EBAY and will not since. It’s not worth the stress and hassle.

I have been an eBay user for years, buying and selling. I had a high seller rating, and purchased from a lot of great seller. eBay at some point had lost all my information and I had to start back from zero, Ok so I will just build it back. In 2015 redid my account, not so much to start selling, but to buy things. With that being said, since then I have had a spinal cord injury and became a quadriplegic and it has taken me a while to get back to doing things. This past week I started selling again, because I'm on a very limited income. I made a couple of sales, but they would not release the funds because they didn't show any past history, because they had wiped out my prior account.

Long story short, I need the funds to be able to pay shipping, and they won't release the fund to me so I can ship. Even though they lost all my older information about being an A+ seller. Ebay has had other issues, but I'm done, plenty of other platforms to use online to sell, that a definitely more enjoyable and less headaches.

I recently ordered a package from a seller with 100% positive feedback. I spent nearly $90 on this package and was notified via an eBay email that the package was delivered. I have never seen this package; I went looking for it and it's nowhere around the area. I contacted the seller, who would do nothing and she did not want me to file a case. After a week and a half of arguing with USPS (who insisted it was delivered), I filed a case with eBay, who immediately refused a refund. They sided with the seller, who sent them notification that the package was delivered. I have never had this happen to me before where USPS claimed it was delivered and yet I couldn't find or retrieve it. USPS wouldn't reimburse me because it was sent "Media Mail", meaning it wasn't insured. It's possible that USPS bungled this, but I'm starting to believe that eBay or the seller pulled something on me.

This also isn't the first time that eBay has refused my case, albeit I have filed for different reasons before. I tried with PayPal and got the same refusal (I will complain about them as well), thanks to the seller again sending them a notification that package was delivered. How can I prove it wasn't? Now I'm having to go through my credit card company to try to get my money back, but I may end up with a permanent loss. I have since filed an investigation against the seller. I wish there were bigger, better auction sites than eBay. They are shady and so are many of their sellers. I would love to cancel my account with them, but they have a near monopoly over smaller sites!

Hi. After buying and selling misc on eBay for decades (not a big drop-shipper or store, just one regular guy) with a great reputation for honesty, I found tonight that I could not revise an item price because I was "below standard". Certainly I cannot list a new one! Ironically, when I called directly, the agent opened the call by saying "Hello Mr. X I see you have been with eBay for twenty-four years what can we help you with tonight..." And then proceeded, with a second agent on the call, to explain over and over that I could not list items because I was below standard... due to having to cancel and refund seven items that I lost/misplaced over a whole year. (Not a single customer complained and the final one last week thanked me for my honesty and prompt refund... of about $6. $6!)

Nothing swayed the human vs their computer and the icing on the cake was when she HUNG UP on me as I was suggesting, that our long relationship should beat out a recent computer statistic due to our moving and reorganizing 208 items, most under $10 that had been listed unsold for over six months... Is there ANYONE with any kind of actual clout to get what used to be a decent site back in line, or is it way too late and eBay needs to go? I mean, if I can't even revise an items price down (maybe can't do offers??), can't list more, how the heck am I supposed to be "above standard" even if I wanted to jump through such hoops (paying 13% of MY sale for the privilege)??? Anyone out there thinking it's time for a national "stay off eBay completely week"..? I'm wondering, are they too big to care.

I took a break from selling on eBay and since I've returned, it's been a waste of time and I've actually LOST money. I sold a few items in an auction. The shipping is calculated a lot differently than how it was in the past. Apparently, my shipping fees were too low so eBay took the difference out of my debit account. If I hadn't looked at my bank statement I wouldn't have known this. I lost about $4 on each item. When the items were selling for .99 and $2, it cost me more to ship it than what I made lol.

Another issue I have is the "Listing Ad Rate" for non auction items. When I didn't have it turned on my items would just sit there for months with NO ONE seeing them. Now, eBay expects sellers to pay between 2% and 100% of the sales total just so buyers can see what they're selling. If you're selling an item for $25 and you want people to see it, expect to pretty much give all of your profits to eBay. Their shipping costs used to be reasonable, but now they're a joke. It costs $9 to ship a lightweight shirt to someone! Because of that, I've had to drop my prices significantly. I mean who wants to pay $9 for something that weighs a few ounces? I've used eBay on and off for years and made a decent amount of money. Now, it seems the only one making money is eBay. There are plenty of other websites and apps that offer a similar service but they're transparent and they aren't out to screw everyone over.

Sellers please avoid eBay for high priced items. My account is 15 years old and my last high priced item was sold over 90 days ago so eBay decided to hold the funds for 30 days (and that is when you have done nothing wrong as a seller). You have to wait a whole month to get your money and for nothing. I am not a business just an individual seller getting rid some of my personal things so you would think that you do that please you needed money right? So then I've gone through a chat session with a rep pretty much repeating generic sentence out of their QA saying it's to protect buyer. So what about sellers? You are taking 15% commission and doing nothing good for us. You think this kind of ** platform is worth 15% commission out of your sales? Avoid at all cost!

eBay is ran by Scammers in my and many people's opinion … They will charge amount of an item sold as a whole instead of the item selling amount. Real example: I sold an item on eBay for $225…. Seller paid $ $109 for shipping plus $27 tax… which is correctly not part of the $225 if item sold. Total buyer paid was $361….yet EBay charged me 13% of the $361 instead of the $225 for processing which I ended up getting only $176 … They ripped me and all sellers off.. It’s a scheme which is why the try to get you to print out and purchase a shipping label through them instead of at the post office…. It’s a hella scam…. I really feel for sellers who are not aware of this trap….**-ebay

The seller did not send the package, EBay sent me numerous emails about this purchase, I did what they told me only for them to tell me the purchase isn’t eligible for refund, and I couldn’t even give the ripoff artist a bad review. My account is deleted and I will never deal with them again.

Seller Id: retail_overstock. The seller above did not return my money. Greedy seller, warning - do not spend your money. Dear eBay Customer Service, MAY 1, 2023. I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my recent shopping experience on eBay. I purchased the Sound Oasis sleep support insomnia, world's smallest white noise machine travel from a seller less than two weeks ago, but unfortunately, the item did not meet my expectations. I received the item in April 19. Delivery date was April 17. As a customer, I rely on the assurance of being able to return an item if it does not meet my satisfaction. However, the seller has declined my request for a return, despite the fact that it is within the 14-day return window.

I am extremely disappointed with the seller's refusal to accept my return, and I feel that my rights as a customer have been violated. I have made every effort to resolve this issue with the seller, but unfortunately, they have been unresponsive. I urge eBay to intervene in this matter and help me obtain a refund for the item. I believe that eBay has a responsibility to ensure that sellers comply with their return policies and that customers receive the support they need to resolve any issues. I have always trusted eBay as a reliable online marketplace, but this experience has left me feeling let down and frustrated. I hope that eBay will take swift action to resolve this matter and restore my confidence in their platform. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Now my buyer said they did not receive the item and eBay cannot do anything except refund them with the money they gave me plus a $20 fee that they took. So now I’ve lost my item, I’ve lost the money I received plus an extra $20 from eBay and the post office will not accept the claim due to their policy, eBay also refuses to refund me. There is no buyer protection and if you are smart, he will try the millions other alternatives. I have already put in a case with BBB and my bank. I will get my money back!

What an absolute nightmare eBay has become. I last used eBay a year ago and had no issues. A week ago I ordered something, but did not notice that my account had been hacked and the delivery address changed. I did not know of this until I received an email that the item had been delivered - to Clearwater FL! I have never been there - I live in Omaha NE. I have since changed it back to the correct address and enabled two-phase authentication.

When first I discovered this, I contested the charge with Visa (Chase). I also went to eBay and did the online thing to dispute it, telling them I did not receive the item. Then I called the eBay fraud line to explain the situation and try to figure out how and when the account got hacked. The 1st person I talked to spoke English fluently and was very helpful and sympathetic - repeatedly telling me that I would not have to pay this. Shortly after, eBay sent an email saying they had closed the dispute because I contested it with Visa.

Today, I called Chase and said that I would probably like to cancel my case with them and reopen it with eBay. They said to call eBay first and make sure I could reopen the case with them. So, I called the fraud line again. This is where the real fun begins. I spoke to someone who spoke very fast, very poor English with no pauses or punctuation and an extremely squeaky hard-to-understand voice - and did not understand ANYTHING I was saying. I asked simply if I could re-open the case with eBay if I cancelled it with Chase. After 30+ minutes of trying to get them to understand, all they did - for the entire time - was say that they closed my case since I contested it with Visa! Finally, I gave up and said goodbye.

I called again, and got another 24 minutes of completely incomprehensible nonsense - they were only a little less hard to understand, but still had no clue what I was asking. So, again, I said goodbye and tried a third time. This time, the rep still had a thick Spanish accent but did understand what I was asking. They said they would put in a request to reopen the dispute. I called Chase and dropped the dispute. I have no idea whether eBay will live up to their "eBay Money Back Guarantee. Get the item you ordered or get your money back". I have very little hope.

This is NOT my fault, nor is it the vendors’ - it is eBay’s. They have such lax security that hacking is trivial. They allow unlimited failed login attempts (tested at 50+ failures in a row) without locking the account. There may be a few CAPTCHA things along the way, but unlimited attempts are allowed. I retired 8 years ago from a fairly high-level position in cyber security and this was considered laughably weak security even then. To make matters worse, they do NOT notify you if there are many failed login attempts on your account (tested).

Today, it seems every corporation, except Apple, ** and perhaps a rare few others, force you to do everything online (whether it is even possible or not) and have no English-speaking help available. If you do manage to get an actual human on the line, they are either incomprehensible or a drone reading from a script. In any case, if you want to know what your balance is or something else entirely trivial, you can do it online. Anything more complicated than that is utterly impossible to resolve in any fashion.

Since the new CEO took over, ebay service has tanked. Customer service was concluded. There is no longer any way to talk to anyone. That's unacceptable. A do.it.yourself.site is fine.... until IT ISN'T!!! A seller for 14 years, I recently had a bad buyer. She used a product, then insisted on a return. Made false claims.

Used to be, there was recourse for this, but no more! ebay doesn't care and sanctions scams when they ignore obvious deceit and dishonest feedback. There is written record. Clear records of proof. They forced a refund. Seller left feedback that was dishonest.

Now ebay will not stop emailing and texting me that I owe them money? FOR WHAT? Removed all my listings already. There's nothing there. So to keep badgering me for money is pointless. As is ebay. They've made themselves pointless. And will continue to shed market shares and users with this terrible break of every good business tenet that they built their company on. Tragic, but true.

eBay has really got greedy since 2010 when I joined. When I sell a laptop for 300.00 they add the seller's tax and shipping to my item cost, then take over 13% of that total, from 300 I sold it for. eBay does this to increase the total amount, so they end up getting more money. The buyers' taxes, and his shipping costs should have nothing to do with the price that I sold the item for. Now they have the promotion you can add so your items get seen more often. This percentage you can choose from 2-16 percent more.

So, if I don't get this promotion my item will not be seen as much. When we join eBay all items should get the same amount of coverage on eBay. Now they are so greedy they would love it if you got the higher promotion rate, so then they can take 30 percent off my money. What is wrong with them. Most of us are just trying to make a little extra money to live on. Just another big company taking advantage of the little guy. I think adding the buyer's tax to our sale is illegal, but I wish someone would really look into their practices. Seems as if they can do anything they want and get away with it.

I have been a member of eBay for well over 20 years. Starting in 2022, the platform has gone completely downhill. The first sign of this was when I started coming across more and more bad sellers with positive feedback scores. The reason is that eBay has started implementing some kind of policy where a terrible seller will get their feedback removed if it immediately refunds the buyer. For instance, if someone sells a clearly fake or defective product and you complain, eBay yanks the feedback, keeping the seller's hyper-inflated 99%-100% score intact. Because of this, feedback scores are no longer trustworthy and finding a decent seller these days feels like playing a game of Russian Roulette.

Another thing that's been happening before that never did are sellers posting a specific delivery time but then taking as many days as they feel like to ship an item, even if it means missing the delivery date they posted by a week or more. If a seller said they'd ship an item to you within two weeks, they'd ship it ASAP to honor their listing. Now, they'll take as long as a week to ship an item, regardless.

I don't know what's going on, but something has definitely gone wrong with the platform, to where I had to leave more negative feedback in six months than in all 20 plus years of being there. I think that Paypal leaving eBay, the new Managed Payments system and the policy of removing negative feedback for bad sellers has turned the entire site upside down. My suspicion is that the more professional sellers that were holding the site up have fled in droves and eBay is implementing measures to make the weaker sellers take their place. Whatever the case may be, this site is no longer what it used to be, not even close.

eBay is keeping up a negative review that misrepresents and maligns my reputation. The review is not accurate. eBay can see the truth because they have the documented messages I sent to the seller. Moreover, this is now an overall misrepresentation of the feedback for my seller hub because of how eBay published the information. I have 31 positive reviews and now one negative. But because one positive review and one negative review took place this year, my profile reads 50% positive feedback on my profile because it is only pulling the two reviews. This is now vastly hurting my ability to sell.

The buyer gave me a false negative review when she said I did not contact her when I canceled an item. This was not true. I never took her money. Before the transaction, I told her the item was no longer available, so I contacted her. She was upset when the item was unavailable and lashed out at me. eBay won’t consider any of these false allegations, and now the data is published about me in a public forum. I have called them ten times. They tell me they will send it to appeals each time, but nothing happens.

eBay international shipping service is a total scam and let me explain why. When a seller posts a product and places a shipping price, that price is supposed to be quite accurate to cover the costs of shipping the item, but lately what you will see is when you search for a product, in the result list you see a product price + a shipping price. BUT....when you enter the product page you suddenly see that the shipping price is now exorbitantly 3 times what it was initially, but WHY? This is Ebay international shipping service.... Ebay provides a courier pickup so that the seller never really has to do anything but package the item. But wait so why pay the seller the shipping fees???? This is the scam, Ebay basically charges you an obscene amount of money to ship the item to you while also giving the seller the shipping fee that he charged you initially. Both the seller and Ebay win!!!!

Ebay's response when I presented the situation to them was that I can always ask the seller to relist the item and use an alternate shipping option, basically transferring the responsibility to the seller, but why in the same hill would the seller go through all that work of having to arrange shipping, relist the item and lose out on the shipping fee for the buyer???? LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, NOW YOU KNOW THAT EBAY HAS OFFICIALLY LOST ITS MIND. I am stating now, any seller using eBay international shipping has lost me as a buyer. I high recommend you do the same otherwise we paved the way for legitimate scamming. Ps. If anyone wants the conversation I had with the ebay rep you're more than welcome to find me .

I was told that the package showed delivered to my city so it was decided in the seller's favor. It wasn't to my house. I called Fedex which showed the package slip for an address 15 miles away but still in my city. Thank goodness the Fedex driver had taken a picture of the package.

Always request driver take a picture under special delivery instructions. So they opened a case and gave me a case number (this must be a problem they hear often). I called Ebay back and was assured they were reversing the decision in my favor and that I would get a refund in 3-5 days. Nope! 2 more calls and I am assured I will get my $256.00 refund. I am now going to dispute the charge with my credit card company since I am getting nowhere with Ebay with its money back guarantee.

Well of course while I'm gone a buyer wants to return an item, not a problem except Ebay decided to give her a refund and let her keep the product because I didn't respond in 3 business days.... I even had their customer service representatives, 2 of them, agree what EBay did was wrong.

All I asked for was the buyer to be able to print a return label from EBay so the buyer could send the item back, I will pay for the label. They refused. I was told once EBay closes a return it's closed...no exceptions. The return shouldn't have been closed because EBay knew I was unable to receive messages and authorize the return. I should have listened to the reviews of them and chosen a different platform to sell on. I was told I had to basically be available to them everyday...no exceptions. I have been selling online for 2-3 years using a vast range of services and platforms and because of this experience I am aware of the various guidelines, standards and policies that vary from one company to the next and I am able to abide by these general rules. However, until just very recently I had not been a seller on eBay, although I have been a buyer in previous years.

I regret ever listing on eBay and I will never again put myself in such a position for these reasons: My item sold, and eBay demanded a considerable percentage of my profit for their fee. Most other platforms use a standard fee for all sales/transactions and that way you know exactly what you are paying. Not eBay. They charged me $100 right off the top. Ok, that is fine, I can live with that even if it is not what I considered to be a reasonable fee. I optioned to have the buyer pay for the shipping fees, yet I was charged for the shipping label a whopping $20. Upon speaking to the buyer again, I learned that we were BOTH charged for the shipping and eBay was profiting further by "double-dipping" so to speak.

I then experienced technical difficulties while printing my shipping label, resulting in multiple labels (3 total) which, except for one, are completely useless, and I was charged three times for a total of about $60. I requested that this be reversed/refunded more than once and at this time I have seen any resolution or even received any acknowledgment on eBay's behalf regarding this matter. By my own negligence (or failure to thoroughly read through that particular policy) I was expecting to have funds released pending the tracking information and shipping confirmation. This is also just fine, and perhaps was wishful thinking on my part.

A few days after shipping, the package arrived to the buyer's address and the buyer then received, confirmed the delivery as well as their complete satisfaction and left me an outstanding review based on the sale and the product they received. According to eBay's policy, there is a 2-day wait period to protect the buyer, after which the funds would be made available to the seller for withdraw to the bank or financial institution of their choice. I reached out at to eBay at the end of the 2-day wait period to verify that my funds would be released that very next day, and I was reassured that this was accurate and to expect to receive them within that following day.

A few hours later, and less than 1 hour prior to funds being available, eBay most inconveniently placed another hold on my funds pending a "periodic performance review" on my account. At this point I was getting frustrated, and I called eBay's so-called customer service line to inquire about this review of which I had never heard of prior to that moment. The representative informed me that it was a process in which all sellers would undergo although it was not a required to receive funds, but more a random or periodic assessment. I was informed that this assessment was performed by eBay's system, and that no team or humans oversaw or monitored this review and that there was nothing more that I could do to expedite my review. The review would take anywhere from 1-5 days.

I then requested to speak to management as I was very dissatisfied with this unforeseen hold on my account. The eBay Leadership Team member took my call and assured me that it was usual and I had to just wait it out. I expressed my displeasure and suggested that they consider changing this or implementing some alternative method--anything to expedite or override the hold. I was quickly shut down with the response, "No we don't" or "No we won't do that" and "We can't do anything" even though their own employee had all but promised just the night before that I would have funds on the next day. I then told the leadership team rep. that I did not accept that answer and his refusal to assist me further. I insisted that something more be done to remedy my issue as I had promised my Power company payment on my past-due bill (subject to disconnect) based upon eBay's word of releasing my funds in compliance with their own policy.

At that moment I politely requested that the fees for shipping and the selling fee that eBay demanded be refunded, reversed or reimbursed on the grounds of dissatisfaction with the experience and disdainful treatment I was receiving. He impatiently denied this request as well, then repeated the same useless nonsense he had already rattled off and then in the most unprofessional behavior I'd ever witnessed by any businessman/woman, he hung up on me. Yes, hung up on me! I was not amused. I called back and filed a complaint with another customer service representative and offered feedback and I was nothing but polite and respectful, regardless of feelings and the urge to tear someone a new one.

I called the following day to request an update at which point I learned that the review was a mandatory 5 days and the information I had been given prior was incorrect and that they were unable to check the status of the review and hold. I had been lied to and hung up on and treated as if I was not a consumer that was paying them for their services. The audacity...!

I called the day after that again and was told by a leadership (management) team member that the hold was actually due to there being an issue with my bank account. He elaborated further, telling me that eBay does not accept my bank for withdraw/deposit to my account. I didn't buy it; they certainly could take funds from my bank account every time I made a purchase on eBay, so what reason could they possibly have for such a ridiculous rule? I ended the call and redialed, reaching another rep. who checked over the info I reiterated from the last call, and said that no, she had checked over all the bank account information and it was all in order and verifying the scheduled release of funds on the promised date (July 26th).

Today is July 25th, day 5 of the review. "Expect to see funds in your account sometime tomorrow". I did not feel reassured in the slightest bit so I continued checking over the website to make sure they wouldn't pull another unwarranted hold. The button 'check hold status' I found did not give any actual results or info pertaining to my case, but was just general information that read more information needed, meaning that I would need to provide more info. How ridiculous! eBay needs to make some big changes or risk losing more business and eventually shutting down.

I am anxiously awaiting my funds a full seven days after the buyer received the product which makes it a total of 9 days since the sale. The poor customer service/satisfaction and the unprofessionalism displayed by this company has strongly influenced my resolve to never again use eBay for buying or selling and I would never recommend (to anyone) using eBay either. If they continue such bad business practice, good luck to them; they will need luck and more to save this sinking ship. This has been awful for me personally so I am jumping ship. Goodbye eBay!

I immediately reached out to the seller through ebay to inform them the envelope was torn and there was no part inside. I offered to send them a pictures of the envelope. I have never received any communication from the seller. I mean not even an acknowledgement they received my communication.

The part I ordered has a tapered end with somewhat of a sharp edge. In hindsight the ends of the part should have been wrapped in padding or something to prevent it from cutting through the bottom of the packing envelope. Maybe there was, but I will never know because the part was not in the package when I retrieved it from my mailbox.

I opened a claim with the seller through ebay and they made me wait for nearly a week to get a response from the seller before they would intervene on my behalf through the ebay guarantee. I have never gotten a response from the seller so I did in fact file a claim through ebay. They responded with a denial because the tracking information showed the package was delivered. I cannot dispute the fact that the envelope was delivered. It was actually delivered a day early. I then filed a dispute with them and included a picture of the envelope with the bottom torn out. They again denied the claim based on the fact the envelope was delivered. So I paid $38 for an empty and torn envelope without out the part I need to repair my lawn mower.

I left negative feedback for the seller on ebay and this is the only negative feedback I've ever left on ebay. I am in total disbelief that common sense will not prevail in this situation. There is no more accountability in the supply chain and ebay has a guarantee in name only. They did not stand behind me the consumer. 3 sales in one week where buyer never paid for what they bid on. They focus on their own benefits only and how much they will make not sellers benefits at all, nothing whatsoever happens to buyer who bid and win auctions and decide not to go through with payments, waste of time for sellers, after listing a product for a week and have multiple bids and the guy who won the auction decided not to go through with payment, nothing whatsoever happens to them from eBay, but if you have one dollar outstanding balance for ebay, they put a hold on your account for two weeks until the one dollar is collected, even though they have permission from you to collect automatically, why don’t they do the same with buyer who don’t go through with payment and stop wasting our time, which there were other sites where I can list my stuff and not give ebay my business.

Purchased item and was sent one different than pictured. Seller sent a tiny return label and I took to FedEx pick up. Seller gave false tracking number so I could not track. EBay is not helping me. There are many messages from me to seller but apparently they won’t take the time to read them. I told them to check with FedEx and also Sam's Club which is where the return was going. They just won’t help at all.

When you buy something on eBay you don't find out until after you place your order that it's coming from China and will take a month and a half to get your order if you even get it at all. This makes ebay a ripoff. There is a tab that says cancel order but when you click it it says too late. DON'T BUY FROM ** EBAY

This is a lot and Ebay charge fees for the shipping cost but shipping it is cost to the seller not the brutto income. Management payment is good but seller has to wait 3-5 days for bank ACH. Shipping problems. No option for ebay international express like DHL which is the fastest to Europe and worldwide. Also as international seller we do need valid buyer email address for customs pdf papers and any communications like was for 24 years before. Not just ebay sloppy mail. Principal RAQport.com

I was new to selling on eBay and had done about 980$ in profit on my items sold and eBay decided that I had breached their user agreement for using Mat instead of Mathew for the first name in my account because I was “using a fake name”. Because of this they suspended my account indefinitely and are refusing to pay me the money that my items sold for and buyers already paid for and have had shipped to them. They offer no customer service whatsoever and you have to use extension codes to even hope to speak to a real person when attempting to resolve an issue of any kind. Needless to say I will never list another item on eBay again and I urge everyone else to think twice before doing so as well.

eBay permanently close my 15 year old account with 1866 purchase because I returned some items that was counterfeit. One seller claimed it was real when I had reasonable proof it was fake and made an appeal and eBay took his side. They said I was taking advantage of the return policy as I returned a item that was stated “no as describe” which seller claims it was “as describe”. First of all, I have a authentication certificate from Legit Grails that state the item is FAKE. Second, eBay prohibit counterfeit items and they took blindly the sellers side without even looking at my proof of counterfeit. I purchased Chanel purses for around 1000$ to 4000$ and I’ve received 4 times counterfeit WITH proof of authentication of counterfeit. I called maybe 10 times and no one resolved anything and each tell me a different story.

I'm submitting this complaint against eBay to the New York State Atty. Gen.'s office, for their review. eBay is falsely charging customers fees that are not valid. I sold an item, and the customer informed me that he would not accept the product. I immediately told FedEx to return the product to me and that the customer threatened to refuse the shipment. FedEx told me there would be no shipping charge incurred because the product was never delivered. eBay still charged me $43. I had a pair of headphones selling on eBay that was purchased for $745. Because of these ongoing issues, I decided to no longer use eBay and authorized eBay to refund the entire $745 to the customer held in my eBay account.

eBay is now charging me $100 because they told me there was a final value fee chargeback. I did not cancel the transaction because they required me to attach my bank account to their payment system to cancel the transaction with no final value fees. There was no reason to attach my bank account because the funds were already in eBay's payment system. That would've been ludicrous to link my bank account, considering the ongoing issues with false charges. They could have withdrawn any amount at their discretion.

Additionally, I'm tired of customers fraudulently labeling a used product as new. EBay's category system that labels things as new, new-other, or open-box is deceptive. Most people would assume an open box was a demo product and would be covered by a warranty. For the most part, the Open-box category is used products with no warranty. I've purchased products classified as new that was clearly used when received. I think eBay needs to be regulated because the amount of fraud on the platform is enormous.

This is an overall review of eBay 'service.' Just about every time I ordered off eBay, it takes so long to get what you've ordered, and lots of times, the sellers keep moving the date of arrival up to a later date. When I buy, I expect it on the date it said. This is why I try to avoid eBay altogether whenever I can. I was supposed to receive a Ferro rod yesterday, and it wasn't even in transit yet!!! This makes me go ballistic! I ordered this on the 4th, it's now the 12th and they've moved the doa to the 14th!! Urrrgggg.

I have been a customer of eBay for many years, buying and selling. Recently I listed an item for sale, sold it and was waiting for payment. The purchaser sent the money and I assumed that it was going thru PayPal. eBay confirmed they received payment, then advised me that until I send them my bank account number, they will not pay me. Very surprised I tried to contact them, finally someone called me back, they said they no longer used PayPal and that my bank account is the ONLY option for them to be able to pay me. No credit card or check or even a credit could be sent without my bank account number.

It has been over 45 days and still nothing. Today I received an email stating "Your eBay account has been restricted" but from a no-reply account. Very poor business practice, I should have been notified prior to listing the item, so I could make an informed decision to continue to use them or not. Still no resolution, they still have my money. I will NOT give them my bank account number.

I bought and ultimately returned a brand new Samsung Galaxy Ultra S22 cell phone, to the tune of $1,163. At first, I thought I was having difficulty with the seller, but it turned out to be a huge misunderstanding. In the meantime, I turned to Ebay for assistance. The girl opened up a case for me in order for Ebay to step in. Now, they are holding my refund money hostage because they are claiming they can't get a hold of the seller to verify the receipt of the property. If they bothered to look into the messages on both our accounts, they would see there is no problem. I know the seller is available because I just recently made contact with no trouble. The communication that has taken place with Ebay was initiated by me, despite the promise they make to contact me within 48 hours. That time has come and gone. I want my money back. DON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH EBAY. I learned my lesson. NEVER AGAIN!

I have been selling on eBay for quite some time and have dealt with the multiple fraudulent purchases thrown my way. This last one was for a laptop and the buyer reported that his account was hacked after I shipped the item. After shipping the item I lost full control on the shipment since eBay technically shipped the item and was waiting for their review to know what to do. They finally were able to route it back to me but while it was en route, they decided to put holds on all my sales and restrict my account to where I can't sell anything. All listings have been removed and there is no way to contact them other than email with a response saying they will review my email within 24-48 hours.

It would have been nice to actually speak to someone or maybe have a live person review it beforehand because they would have seen that I have been in constant contact with the original buyer and was just waiting to get the item back in my hands before issuing the refund. eBay totally overstepped on this in my opinion since I am now completely disabled on their platform and have no source of income until they decide they want to review it.

eBay doesn't put up front the amount of time it will take to receive your item. In most cases they will let you know after you purchase the item. Why doesn't Ebay change their policy in this? I will avoid shopping on eBay because I waste time finding out when it will arrive AFTER I PURCHASE THE ITEM. 2 to 3 months in some cases so I can't wait and so I cancel the order and keep looking and then do it all over again... Waiting to find out if I will get it in a timely manner.
