We purchased a RV cover from ENDFOXSTORE on Ebay. We have a 30' travel trailer and the size was for 30-33'. There was too much slack, so we returned it with EVERYTHING that was sent, but seller claims that I did not return everything and it was not sent in the original condition. They kept 47.2% or $175 of my refund. I did return everything, but I don't have pictures to prove it. ENDFOXSTORE also used the excuse "not returned in original condition" to keep your money. I've included a picture from the seller "explaining" not returned in original condition. I sent it back in the same box I received it. I did file a complaint on Ebay against ENDFOXSTORE and they ruled in my favor and refunded the total amount. Is ENDFOXSTORE playing a game with Ebay to keep more money?

I was trying to sell 3 silver coins. I had never sold on EBay before. I went through the process of putting my items in. The app gave me choices so I tried an auction sale for all of them. I put them in all the best categories I could. Nowhere while I putting them in did ever see a charge for any of the options. All I knew was that EBay took a percentage if they sold. After several weeks and no real offers I decided to remove them. I was just looking around the and clicked on something and a bill came up for over $90. I was floored. I had never seen a charge for anything while I was putting them in. Don’t they have to tell you that there will be a charge for something at the time you try to add it on? This really sucks. It’s like a hidden fee they don’t tell you about. What about saying this is what it will cost to list your item when before you push that button to activate your item.

If I could give eBay a zero I would. They have no customer service. I didn't get an item when I was supposed to so I tried to contact them and it was impossible. I did a search to see if I could find an 800 customer service number. One popped up on the screen, so I called it but it turned out to be a horrible scam. Somehow the scammer knew everything about my eBay account and issue, which leads me to believe that he had access to the eBay system! After that, I was done with ebay, and I recently tried to close my account with them because I never, ever want to deal with them again.

Actually, I didn't really deal with them (eBay) because you can't contact them. After requesting that my account be closed, I got an email saying that I needed to contact them in order to get my account closed! How am I supposed to do that when there is almost zero customer service other than an automated thing or you can send an email, but nobody responds. It's an absolute horrible mess, and I will never, ever buy something from eBay again. In the past, I've spent a bit of money on eBay, but those days are over.

I’ve been an eBay buyer for more than 20 years, but I’m very disappointed with how customer service has declined. It’s almost impossible to get real help anymore. Everything is handled by automated AI systems that don’t understand the problem and just keep sending the same responses over and over. When you try to resolve an issue or file a return, eBay doesn’t even follow its own return policies. As a loyal buyer, I’ve always trusted that eBay would step in when a seller failed to do the right thing — but that’s no longer the case. It feels like buyers are left on their own while eBay ignores clear evidence and policy guidelines. After two decades of using eBay, I can honestly say it’s become frustrating and disappointing. eBay seriously needs to improve customer service, restore buyer protection, and make live support accessible again. Loyal customers deserve better than automated responses and policy loopholes.

I’ve had one of the most disappointing experiences as a long-time, high-rated seller on eBay. My account was permanently restricted even though every item I sold went through eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee and passed verification. eBay claims there were “bad buying experience patterns,” yet none of my buyers ever received counterfeit items or reported authenticity issues. Ironically, one buyer said they didn’t even trust eBay’s own authentication process — and somehow, eBay still blamed me instead of defending their own system.

I submitted complete purchase proofs, payment records, and screenshots from legitimate secondhand platforms, but no one truly reviewed my case. Meanwhile, there are so many obvious scam sellers and counterfeit listings on eBay, yet you chose to permanently ban a genuine, hard-working seller who followed the rules. This is deeply unfair and disappointing. eBay’s decision completely contradicts its promise of fairness and trust. You permanently removed my selling rights, yet still allow me to buy — that’s absurd. I truly loved selling here, but this experience destroyed my confidence in the platform.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience on eBay. After deciding to close my account, I was told that I needed to remove all of my listings first. Although it felt like an unnecessary barrier designed to make account closure difficult, I complied and removed hundreds of items. When I attempted to close the account again, I was informed that a confirmation email would be sent to finalize the closure — but that email never arrived. Despite repeated attempts, my account remained open, and eBay continued to issue charges.

After reporting these issues and disputing the charges, my account was sent to collections, even though the problem originated from eBay’s failure to complete the closure process properly. This is unacceptable. At this point, I have no trust in eBay’s business practices and am considering legal action to resolve this matter. I have had exceptional service using Amazon and after what Ebay pulled on me, I would recommend to anyone to check out Amazon before buying on Ebay, they treat their customers with respect. If you decide to buy from Ebay, make sure you read everything carefully and be very persistent as to your follow up. Ebay tries to always blame the seller if there is a problem you are always referred to the seller, they (Ebay) will not accept any responsibility for an issue.

I recently bought three items (sewing patterns) from a seller. The shipping costs for each item were added together and I was charged nearly $60 to ship three sewing patterns. This is egregious and outrageous. I asked the seller if he could give a partial credit because the shipping should have been significantly less. He tried and said he couldn't because the items were shipped through eBay's International Shipping system and the charges were set. I contacted customer service to see if they could help, and the agent kept me on the phone for an hour talking a lot but saying nothing of substance, and I finally put it to him and asked if he had a solution and he didn't. Nice! After wasting an hour of my time. He said he would send a message to his colleagues to see if they could help, and someone should come back to me in a day or two. That was about a week ago and nobody has contacted me.

In addition, since the beginning of this year, eBay began adding VAT on all purchases at checkout. I have no issues with this, but it appears that the customs authorities in my country are not being informed because I have received additional invoices from customs charging me VAT and fees on nearly every purchase I've made with eBay this year. I have taken the matter up with eBay and they have refunded me for the double payments, but I've told them they need to coordinate with Customs and get their act together so we aren't forced to pay VAT twice for the same purchase and then have to waste time requesting reimbursements for the overpayments. I've been an eBay member for 26 years and I think I've reached the end.

UPDATE: I finally got a response from eBay's customer service today. I had exchanges with three different people who all basically repeated the same thing: they listed a few possible reasons why my three items weren't combined into one shipment (I got one packet with two items and a second one with the third item) despite my putting them in the cart and checking out at the same time. NONE of those reasons were applicable to this purchase. Listing irrelevant possibilities without specifics is meaningless because such vagaries allow eBay to justify its actions without any accountability. And they repeated that they don't give refunds for shipping. The International shipping center can set whatever extortionate prices they wish to ship items without rhyme or reason. Is it any wonder sellers and buyers are leaving eBay in droves?

As a Top Rated Seller, I have had three serious claims recently where buyers lied to get a refund and eBay automatically sided with them, with no chance for me to have a fair say! There have been many lesser claims as well, where buyers lied to get free shipping on a return. Very easy to game the system at sellers' expense.

I always send new items, and most recently a customer took a picture of an old very damaged similar product and screamed at me through capital letters with 15 exclamation points about how horrible the product was. eBay refunded her without me even having a chance to see the fake item. It was not even returned! Doesn't matter that I've never done anything like this with that same product for 13 years. I was guilty with no chance to prove innocence!

Yeah, fees are stupid high and keep climbing with no benefit to the seller. I have dealt with that, but these unfair AI judgments are the last straw! Customer support is not real helpful if you try to appeal. It is fight, fight, fight and maybe you'll get a thinking human to read your case, most likely not. Please note that you may not be covered by the eBay Seller Protection Policy is the changes you make are substantially different from what the buyer intended."

The buyer included one version of his street address on Address Line 1 and a different version on Address Line 2. In addition the buyer has inserted the town name and zip code behind the street address on Address Line 1 and inserted the state name behind the street address on Address Line 2. The town name, state and zip code are already included other fields and they do not go within the Address Line 1 or Address 2, which are used for street addresses and/or P.O. Boxes. eBay tells me to change the address, which I am not going to do as I am not going to liable for the package being lost due to an address change. It's also not my job to change the address.

It's eBay's job to verify the shipping address of the buyer when they register. Many companies' license address data from USPS, but eBay does not care to because it does not care about its users at all. When I order products from third party vendors on Amazon and I use my street address it's Amazon, the platform, that ask about the address I want to use for the shipment. Amazon is not forcing its vendors to work out the details with the buyer of the product. eBay has wasted my time listing the item, packing the order and cancelling the order! Not what I pay eBay fees for! eBay lacks even the basic security measure of verifying shipping addressees by cross referencing them to USPS databases.

Ebay allows buyers of sealed trading card boxes to open the box, open the packs, then return the item incomplete under their "money back guarantee" program. You are forced to then refund the entire amount. If you appeal, the response for denial is "eBay doesn't have physical contact with the item so we are not in the position to determine who caused the problem". Be aware of this policy!!

My experience as a seller on eBay, sucks, sucks, sucks. Why! Because as a seller the fees are way too high we sell items so low our profit are Nil to none and seems to be based on volume. Ebay allows buyers to lie on reviews and Ebay refuses to change this. Ebay also allows buyers to blame sellers for late shipments sucks and plus write a bad review sucks. Ebay has become nothing more but a bribery site for buyers plain and simple. I used to like ebay now I hate them. They suck big time. I sold this item below and describe it to a T yet guy wrote a bad review saying it was described what it was not and Ebay allowed the review to stay up. This is just one case, never will I sell on ebay again. Ever! Unless Ebay changes its policy and give sellers the same right to write a bad review for buyers and post it. Ebay used to let sellers give a negative review.

I bought items from Ebay for a very long time. Years and never had many issues with them them until lately I've been getting orders that say delivered with tracking number and everything and when I look they are not in my box, but later in the afternoon they would arrive with the mail. However, I have order that said delivered but never arrived. When I realized days later I filed a claim with Ebay, but right away they refused to give my money back because the tracking said I received my item. In other words, no picture, no proof. Just the tracking was enough for them to reject my claim right away.

Today I checked my email. I'm waiting for a couple items that have not arrived but says delivered with a tracking number, hopefully I will get it in the afternoon but if not Ebay will probably not refund me the money because it has a tracking number that says delivered. My house front is clearly visible with the house number by the way. Ebay needs to start doing better because is becoming unreliable by siding with scammers or the post office, it's getting ridiculous. I hope buyers are aware of this next time they buy on Ebay. SELLER WARNING: Ebay used to be a place for sellers and they protected them against buyers and situations that were wrong... misusing the returns system, writing fraudulent reviews, etc.... Now it's buyer protection only on everything. You can have a buyer receive an item, decide they didn't like it and as a seller have to pay for the return, simply because the buyer used a return option that made the seller pay for the label. You call and dispute the return and Ebay gives you some run around about how you can hold them accountable after you approve the return, pay for the label and receive the item. Only to find out, no you have to complete the return and report the buyer and hope that they take action or give you a credit. There is no consistency in their policies except to protect the buyer at all costs. Yes Ebay is a business and is there to make money.... yes the buyer is spending that money. But what they miss in the equation is the seller provides the product. If you don't have the seller, what is the buyer suppose to buy??? I'm just a small fish in a big sea and nothing I say to them on the phone will ever matter.... Think it's time to move on to another platform or just my own website.

eBay has created a system where they force sellers to abide by "the customer is always right" at their own expense. They allow buyers to leave negative feedback even if they are just in a bad mood, and they disallow buyers from leaving negative feedback for buyers (only positive and neutral). In this way, eBay allows buyers to hold sellers hostage and meet any demands out of fear of a negative feedback that tanks your reputation for an entire year.

However, I never found the item in our mail room or anywhere in the building, and the video camera on our loading dock indicated no such delivery at that date and time. I filed a complaint with both UPS and eBay. UPS eventually told me that that shipment was delivered to a completely different address, which is why I could not view the delivery photo (which required me to enter the delivery zip code). eBay basically said that since the tracking indicated the item was delivered, they were going to close the issue. The seller (though they had initially offered to refund the money), also stopped responding to my messages. So neither eBay nor the seller (aishopping2, I'm guessing some outfit based in China) opted to stand by their customer. What a disgrace!

Long drawn out story short, I hastily purchased a Milwaukee bandsaw listed for $108 dollars. What could go wrong right, they have a "money back guarantee". After reading the 3 separate comments saying the item was a scam, within 5 minutes I attempted to cancel the order. 5 minutes later the seller said no cancelation because the item had been shipped. I received a tracking number and waited. Saw the shipping label was created in Texas and saw the item go from there to my state. To the local USPS and then I get a notification saying the package had been delivered. My roommate was sitting on the porch waiting for the package to show up. I call and ask, "Is it there?" They say, "No, no one has even came by in a USPS truck."

So I immediately inform eBay how I've indeed been scammed exactly like the 3 others on the seller's profile. I message the seller and their response, "Let me see if the warehouse sent it to the wrong address". More time goes by, eBay responds and says, "The seller provided tracking information that says the package was delivered. No refund for you!!!" I appeal with an email the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE sent me stating the following 1. The address on the tracking number provided to me from the seller wasn't to my address. (Part of the scam). 2. Confirmed the weight of the package shipped to the address on the tracking number was 4.99 ounces. Not a 12 pound bandsaw. eBay responds and says, "The seller provided a tracking number so our original decision was upheld."

The seller has taken all items listed to sell down from their profile and no longer scams under that profile name. I've contacted my bank and they are in the process of reviewing the case and informed me I'll likely get my money back and Visa will hold eBay responsible for the charge. So folks long story short. When someone scams you from eBay and closes their profile down, eBay isn't going to give you your money back. So this was the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life trying to purchase something.

I will never use Scam Bay again. You literally can't get a human on the phone, they will tell you it's outside of their normal business hours at 1pm in the afternoon and hang up on you. So Monday morning I'm calling to Post Master Inspector to report whomever sent the package originally from Texas. I'm also considering calling the FBI to try and give as much information to them to try and hold the scammer responsible. 108 dollars is a lot of money nowadays. I should have it back in my account this week. It only took 3 weeks and a whole lot of effort. Thanks eBay, thanks for the experience.

Ebay lets buyer scammers run rampant and doesn't educate sellers on proper customer service and quality control. The seller fees are astronomical and unless it's a white hot item the algorithm will not allow many views thus forcing a promote of item. Generally 10% additionally to be remotely effective. I hardly see any Ebay Company advertising which would be easy to do even on YouTube. This would drive sales for sellers because the buyers are really no longer there. In fact most would rather not use Ebay unless they have to. Too many times the sellers send poor products, not cleaned or just completely ridiculous packaging job and arrives damaged. It's frustrating, how many times can you receive crap and keep coming back. No seller vetting process and the feedback system is ineffective.

There are also time and time again when you buy a product...the seller refunds, saying they don't have it. Why are they selling it then and why aren't there several penalties for that. Simply aggravating. Then the buyers scam the sellers, there's a reason they call it "FreeBay". So the sellers get jaded, the buyers cancel orders with impunity all the time too. So the sellers get a bad attitude and then offer poor customer service.

Ebay just sides with the buyers because they already scared the buyers away. Do you know how quick and easy Amazon is? Or if you buy a record off Discogs it's clean and accurately graded. Ebay is an overpriced mess, with terrible customer service and sellers/buyers ripping each other off. If Ebay is going to charge that much they need to clean the site up, rid the den of fools and thieves, restoring consumer confidence and make it hip again. It appears though Ebay is comfortable hemorrhaging buyers who have had an exodus out of ebay because it's not worth all the aggravation. It's not worth it for anyone unless you really have to, that sad & simple. Regretfully.

I just had one of the worst online selling experiences with eBay, and I need folks to know: sellers beware. I listed a piece of high-value equipment on eBay for $850 and ended up accepting a $700 offer—fair enough. What wasn’t fair? eBay charged me 13.5% just for using the platform, then another 13.5% for “promoting” the item—an option that looked like a required part of the listing process. It was designed to look identical to the base fee, and I honestly had no idea it was optional. That means before I even got to shipping, I was already out $189 in fees.

But it gets worse. When I went to ship the item, there was a big "Ship Now" button. I used it, and eBay charged me another $113 to print a USPS label—only for me to later find out USPS doesn’t even accept packages over 50 lbs, which this item clearly is. So not only did they charge me for a shipping method that doesn’t work, they then locked the refund in a 14–21 day limbo even though the system says it’s “completed.”

Now my funds are tied up. Out of a $700 sale, I’ve got maybe $300 available after eBay’s predatory fees and misguiding platform design. And the equipment I sold is easily worth $3,400—I accepted less to just move it quickly. eBay’s UI is misleading, the fee structure is exploitative, and the shipping tool is broken. This isn’t a simple mistake—it’s a pattern of deceptive business practices. I’ve documented everything with screenshots and am in the process of filing with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection.

Bottom line: if you're a seller trying to use eBay to move high-value equipment, think twice. You’re better off listing locally or using a more transparent platform. The way that the platform functions, with mostly automated service and all offshore customer support, there is little empathy and little problem solving afforded to the seller, which is still the customer.

eBay seems to favor sellers with protection over buyers. I recently ordered an online Yamaha receiver from eBay. The seller was Global Deals 24/7. https://www.ebay.com/str/groovylion, the item was described as factory sealed new AV receiver. When I received the item the packing box was damaged on one end and upon opening very little paper packing material with the Yamaha receiver box crushed on one side. I opened the package and the receiver had been crushed on top. I immediately contacted the seller that evening and by the next afternoon he had replied and said "so you're just going to ignore my response". I didn't know what to think but said, "I have a job and just got home from work."

I told him the receiver was damaged in my email response and he said, "Did it work?" He might offer a partial refund. I said, "The thing is crushed. I bought a new factory sealed AV receiver" and said that, "Looking at the ad the box appears already crushed from your listing." The guy became very adversarial and argumentative and said he was calling eBay to complain about me. I answered back that I would contact eBay as well as PayPal and my credit card company. With this, we exchanged a couple more emails disputing the facts until eBay shut all communication down with a statement that they have been told that I contacted my credit card company and that the return dispute was closed.

PayPal deferred to my Visa card. I had sent photos of the damaged box on the initial ad and the damaged outer box and product box with the pictures of the crushed receiver. I sent these to the seller, PayPal, and my credit card company. The credit card company sent me a letter with the seller's comments that this was not the receiver that he sold me. I might be trying to get rid of an old receiver. I was pretty surprised and disappointed that a businessperson would take this route, particularly since online feedback had been positive about their store. I think he simply was overly triggered by the concern I raised about the item not matching the description of new and factory sealed when you could clearly tell the box had been opened, crushed, re-taped, etc.

All interactions with the seller in eBay were closed off and no ability for feedback. I felt like eBay abandoned me and it felt punitive since they just stated I chose to use the credit card company for my dispute (without waiting 2 days before eBay would step in). EBay's response to my credit card company was also disappointing, as they simply said buyer did not return the item. They gave me no options for return. The seller's website said no returns. He never offered an option to return.

Bottom line, as a buyer receiving a damaged item, eBay should have protected me and a reputable business person would have simply owned up to the damaged whether known or unknown (possibly damaged in transit) and made this right. This has been an entirely wasteful process for a business owner and me as a buyer for $500. EBay won't let you complain on their site and have closed my ability to give feedback on the seller. Buyer beware on eBay. The pictures are so compelling I hope my bank card decides in my favor. I do not want evil to prevail.

After some digging, I saw that there was a $10.96 seller's fee (I have never in my life used eBay to sell an item). After spending an hour on the phone, I spoke with one rep who told me that the fee was an error and that it needed to be removed from my account. He couldn't do it, so he referred me to another department that could. That department decided that the fee was legit and needed to be paid.

I asked her to show me (on my end) where she received the information that I had been a seller. She walked me through some steps that took me to an empty seller's "invoice" page that stated: "No invoices to display" dating back to the day I opened my eBay account. She grew increasingly frustrated with me (and me with her) as she insisted that I was not clicking on the correct drop down box that shows all my past invoices. I insisted that there was no drop down box (except for a small field that allowed me to enter dates--which I did).

At the end of our conversation (approaching 1.5 hours total) she said, "Ma'am you just need to pay the fee" to which I responded, "So you have no way of showing or telling me where the fee is coming from and no way of deleting the fee. This is the final solution?!" I told her that I would rather just keep my account suspended and ended the call. I don't buy a lot on eBay, but they just lost one (previously) very happy customer.

Ebay customer service is participating in a global scam, and Ebay main office doesn't do anything about it. I purchased a $600 Canon lens, but the seller manipulated the shipping label (probably in some photo editing software), sending an empty package to a different address within the same zip code. (In my case it was a bank branch)

Despite providing USPS documentation proving the fraud, Ebay customer support dismissed my claim stating they do not accept any documents from other companies as proof (even USPS, and filled report to Police) covering the seller making me thinking someone from customer service is involved in this scam, citing that the package was “delivered. to the right zip code” This policy gap - relying only on city and zip code for delivery confirmation - is a serious flaw that puts buyers at risk.

Greetings all on eBay. I am a small business. I love selling on ebay. I am good customer services to all. I put lots of time effort & hard work into my card store.

I find it stressful not making a store profit. ebay listing fees so high. I promote my items I pay monthly ebay store fees. It's sad when ebay takes all your profits away. Also shipping is high with the U.S. postal services. I care. I am the one doing all the labor & on time shipping. Where is my store profit. Be kind ebay. It's not all about you. Be kind to your hard working sellers please.

Another sad note. I accept best offers from my buyers. Sometimes I feel they cheat you claiming items weren't received under 5.00. They don't come to the seller. They automatically open a case with ebay then ebay puts your funds on hold. I always have a return address on all packages & I double check mailing addresses before I ship. What is sad I trust in the postal services. I ship lots first class postage. That is the only way I can also make the profit I have earned. ebay needs to show respect for their long time hard-working sellers. Lower listing fees. Help the small business make a store profit.

ebay makes changes when things are going well. I am fearful they run many buyers & sellers off ebay. Please listen I am a honest caring seller. I sell on ebay in need of the second income I sure do depend upon. When you feel cheated the sadness & pain is real. I have many faithful happy return buyers. My store is selling around 5,000 items. Sometimes I only get 1 sell per day. Other times not any sale. Super sad right!

I will close with this statement. I am not looking to find a problem here. I am hopeful there is a solution in lowering the listings fees so all proud sellers can earn the profit they have work so hard for. Also please keep ebay strong honest with many new buyers. Thanks. A hard working seller feeling rather sad & cheated in my hard work. Lately it all goes into fees & high postage fees & I am doing all the hard labor making a living. Thanks from seller John. I sold the “88-piece Vintage Hand Painted Gold China Dinnerware Sets made in Occupied Japan” on eBay for $300 and shipped the package to the buyer on April 20, 2025. I received $234.71 from eBay for this sale. When the buyer received the package and asked for $25 refund for 7 broken pieces instead of returning of the package, I was out of country and could not read my emails. However, eBay never tried to call or text me even eBay had my cell phone number. I would have given $25 refund to the buyer if I had known the buyer's request. Unfortunately, eBay made a mistake not giving the buyer $25 refund. Instead, eBay mistakenly allowed the buyer to return the “No Return” item to me without my permission and without doing any investigation to determine what caused the damage.

Additionally, eBay mistakenly allowed the buyer not to return 7 broken pieces of the dinnerware sets without my permission, which was unacceptable to any sellers. eBay charged me $359.00 on May 12 for the return without my permission and without doing any investigation. eBay also charged me another $71.90 on May 17 for the return shipping label (total $430.90). For this sale, I lost 8 valuable pieces of the Dinnerware Sets and ended up with a loss of $196.19 ($430.90 - $234.71), which is unfair and ripping off the sellers.

I sent emails to eBay on May 21 and May 23 asking eBay to refund me the unauthorized charge of $196.19, eBay denied my request. I sent another email to eBay on May 26 to tell eBay that I would contact my bank to dispute the payment. I have not heard anything from eBay for the past 3 weeks, demonstrating eBay’s unethical and irresponsible behavior. I will never sell or buy anything at eBay.

Their money-back guarantee is worthless. I purchased a part from one of their highest-rated sellers and when it arrived, it didn't fit my car. So I contacted the seller to return it and the seller told me to take it to any shipper I wanted to and get a tracking number and receipt for the cost of shipping it back to them and they would refund me the cost of the part and the shipping when they received the part at their facility.

The part cost $44 and the shipping cost $102 so I thought it was kind of stupid of them to have me ship it back to them rather than just throwing it away. Well, I found out why they had me pay for the shipping, it's because they had no intention of refunding me the shipping costs. And when I asked eBay to step in and help me, they told me it was my fault for listening to the seller and following his instructions instead of reading all the policies that eBay has.

But they could put the policy that buyers should "NEVER" pay for shipping in big letters everywhere, instead of telling the buyers to contact the obviously sneaky dishonest buyers for returns so they can take advantage of us. eBay claims you don't have to worry about getting taken advantage of that they guarantee your money is protected, well, I'm calling a big BS on that. The seller that ripped me off is still doing business like usual (lying and cheating his buyers) and eBay is still making money off of the dishonest, sneaky sellers they rate so high.

Awful customer service. Sold a pair of children’s shoes in used condition and took many photos showing this conditions, including any marks. As a private seller, I do not accept returns. However, many buyers on Ebay like to abuse this policy as Ebay provide ‘money back guarantee.’ So, buyer submitted a not as described claim due to their own stupidity, for not looking at photos where marks were shown. I had 2 options to resolve this a) let buyer keep item and refund (I am not a charity so was not going to do this) or b) pay £3.25 for buyer to post them back to me. In previous experience, where a buyer has submitted such a false claim, Ebay have always told me to go ahead with option b and call them once I receive the item to confirm it is all as described and as a seller I am not at fault.

However, the Ebay representative on the phone today told me that I should not have accepted the return, despite the fact there is no other option, as although she agreed with me that I was not at fault with the item’s condition (this being clearly shown in photos). I should have apparently called them instead, which if you are aware it is meticulously hard with their AI chatbot. Since introducing the buyer protection service, Ebay’s customer service has become abysmal. I spent over an hour on the phone speaking to a representative and then was put on hold for over 20 minutes to speak to her supervisor, who was no more helpful. Every 5 minutes the phone hold music was cut out and she would check if I was still there, in hopes I would have ended the call. I have been on Ebay for 19 years and sold 1000 items, I will now be sticking to platforms like Vinted and Depop who value sellers and not just buyers.

The selling fees are outrageous and the selling processes (specifically shipping) are either seriously flawed or corrupt. I sold a golf club. I packed it, made and measured the box, weighed it and all was as listed. I took it with prepaid label to UPS where they measured it, weighed it and gave me a receipt after verifying it matched what the prepaid label represented. I have a receipt. The club weighed 3 lbs. Several days later eBay sends me an email stating that the shipper (UPS) states that the 3 lb package I shipped actually weighed over 40 pounds. One golf club weighing 40 pounds. It's impossible.

Trying to get support from eBay is a useless endeavor. It is almost impossible to get a human to answer the phone. Those who answer are from ** or ** or God knows where.... and most cannot speak clear English. None of them have any authority to rectify a problem. Bottom line I dropped a 3 pound box at a UPS store and had it verified as 3 lbs by UPS and then days later eBay charges me an addition 30 plus dollars and states it actually weighed 40 plus pounds. They have already debited my bank account and it has been a week since I challenged eBay customer service.

Ebay users beware. The selling processes suck. The customer service group is a feckless bunch of powerless kids who cannot take any real action. As a seller on eBay since 2007 I experienced either difficulty or impossibility to reach an agent who is able to assist with a problem. eBay created a labyrinth of next to impossible selections that are not geared to easily accomplish the consumers required request. For example: At the Buyers request, I attempted to cancel the $1500 sale and refund his money. $1274 was my portion eBay deposited in my bank account. eBay created a convoluted series of confusing steps I followed. I learned weeks later eBay prevented the refund and all my efforts were unsuccessful. Why, I wondered. What became evident to me was eBay designed a system that allows eBay to 1. hold onto money as long as possible, 2. eBay delayed my efforts to imposes penalties against me (Seller). 3. The Buyer is given only choices to select that eBay uses against the Seller to impose various fees.

eBay the gave me 3 days to respond to the Buyers complaint that did not reflect reality. eBay offered “Item Not Received”. While this is the result of a canceled sale it is not accurate or applicable to say “item not received”. However no options are available for the Buyers to be accurate or add his own words. Also the Seller is not able correct the path eBay has chosen. eBay forces the seleection that allows them to benefit. eBay designed a system that ends up generating money to eBay. eBay did not allow a quick and easy way to unwind the sale within 72 hours or cancel the sale by mutual agreement and quickly refund the Buyer. There was no dispute. eBay created and required their dispute process that enabled eBay to keep money longer, and charge fees because they insisted on a long drawn out process instead of a quick and easy refund.

But it gets worse. The next sale eBay put a hold on all the proceeds approximately $185. OK. No big deal. I was out of town for medical reasons. I asked the Buyer to cancel the order and I would not sell to anyone else. I received an e-mail asking to Agree to a Refund. I selected the blue box Agree to Refund. Ah but eBay has other ideas. They provided a limited choice for the buyer to select and pretty much forced “Item Not Delivered” that created a dispute where no dispute existed and here we go again. A long drawn out process while eBay holds the Buyers money and charges me “dispute”fees and other charges I don’t understand.

eBay at all times help the Buyers money - I got nothing. Again I received an email giving me three days to agree to a refund. Again I agreed. eBay prevented the refund. I contacted eBay got to an escalation agent explained my goal. He agreed eBay is holding the money from this sale. In short on Aril 28th the agent assured me the refund would be complete within 24 hours. That never happened.

May 10th eBay sends me an e-mail advising me they are going to take $216 from my bank account, and there is nothing I can do. I requested a call from an eBay agent which has often been a difficult process. Agent John, in escalations seemed to be in agreement but eBay apparently follows the customer is never right so John required my call to be transferred.

After numerous tries I was transferred to an agent in the Selling dept. Asking Anna questions produced a disconnect / dial tone. This is a tactic, I experienced on prior calls with eBay. As expected Anna didn’t show the courtesy to call me back, apologize or address my questions. This solidifies my belief that dropping the call was not an accident. I believe nothing eBay does is an accident including reaching website pages that don’t exist in an effort to frustrate the consumer into giving up. After hitting a dead end instead of the help I am looking for. This repeated on each try so I get the feeling it is all by design.

Extremely unsatisfied. I never received my items, but got mail to review them. For some of them time of delivery did not come yet, but it asks if it was delivered in time.... I wrote I never received. The seller is offended. I contact e-Bay customer service with screenshots of threatening mail like address can not be found and extra charges are going to apply. I explain that every delivery man finds my PO mail box easy and this is checked and clear and there is no mistakes. I am getting the answer with advices to check my home address, like house or apartment number, etc. and they close the conversation! Extremely rude and disrespectful!

They did not read what I wrote them or they do not know what PO box is? No even reaction for my screenshot about site which delivery service redirects me is considered dangerous and security system no way lets me to open it "to correct the address" More than that! They say delivery is not their responsibility as a selling platform!!! I demand my money back now and I will go all legal ways to get them. Of course, never going to use e-bay anymore. eBay looks great but is a horrible experience for sellers. They charge you fees for even the shipping label as well as the taxes. Further, I ship all things well but things break I guess. So, trying to process a refund is problematic. First it does not allow me to refund everything as, guess what, eBay charges a fee for the return, and second, tells me I have to wait 7 days before I request an insurance claim with USPS. (When I will be on vacation.) Never ever again with eBay as seller.

The seller did not respond to my inquiry text, in telling them the item wasn't received and must have gone to the wrong address. The seller shipped the item to the wrong address and I did not receive the item.

Ebay is not correct in their decision to not refund me, as I provided the image (from fed ex) that is NOT my front door and the tracking info that says: "The address is not the one in their system." I paid for the item and never received it. Fed Ex States That My ADDRESS is not in their system for this package. And Ebay said the case was closed because the seller told them that they provided tracking info that had my address. They are clearly lying, as fed ex, the shipper, said otherwise.

Upon opening a case, with Ebay: Ebay said "After reviewing all the details of this case, we determined you won't receive a refund. We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase. However, the seller provided tracking information that shows the item was delivered to your address." How can they say that it was delivered to my address if the address wasn't my address, on the tracking info and label, and the image of the front door was not my door?

What's going on with ebay lately? Why are they letting sellers get away with fraud and take your money? You can't contact a live agent anymore, by phone or chat, because they just keep putting you in a loop of "this item was already delivered, or this case/item issue was already closed." They've really gone down the tubes. No support for customers. Poor business practice.

Well, perhaps I should have come here first. I see that the average rating for eBay as of now is 1.1. A staggering 96% of customers leaving a review here have left a negative one. I have bought a lot from eBay, including in recent months, but when I needed customer service, I came to find out that it is nonexistent. When I ordered an item, at checkout eBay offered me an Allstate protection plan. However, the vendor canceled the order without any input from me, and Allstate did not refund the plan. I spent weeks going round and round with eBay and Allstate, both of whom have customer service that is among the worst that I have ever experienced.

The customer service representatives at eBay were window dressing. None of them were empowered to help to resolve my issue. Some of them offered bad advice. Two of them disconnected from me, one of whom told me beforehand that he had gone ahead and "marked my issue as resolved." "Oh, thanks a lot, buddy. So very thoughtful!" eBay tries hard to prevent you from getting to a person. Its chatbot will even ban you from additional input if it doesn't like what you type, and then offer options that are not relevant and do not lead to a human being. And it's just as well since the people I did reach were not able to help.

In any case, eBay has an expansive partnership with Allstate, with the two of them selling thousands of protection plans. But there is zero followup customer service on the plans themselves. The only way to get to a human at Allstate is to try to file a claim. But you cannot file a claim on a policy for an item that you have never seen.

When you do get to the humans, as at eBay, they don't help anyway. Allstate says to contact eBay, and eBay says to contact Allstate. In addition to the Allstate representatives, I communicated with about a dozen eBay representatives, some of whom were happy to waste my time with useless links and phone numbers, but none of whom would offer any help.

For the most part it is not the fault of the agents. eBay specifically does not empower them, and has empowered Allstate to scam people whenever it likes. Allstate has an elevated status, so as soon as you buy a plan from Allstate, Allstate gets the money, even though it provides zero customer service, including ignoring messages and refund requests sent through eBay itself. It's an utterly shameful partnership.

Vendors who are exemplary at eBay are treated far worse, as the reviews here will attest. Allstate appears to not even bother to monitor its own eBay messages, and gets special treatment! To sell protection plans on items that do not exist, of course, is insurance fraud, and so I reported it as such. eBay promises that if you don't get what you pay for, they will step in to help. Well, that turned out not to be the case. If you want customer service, you'll have to order from B&H or a local vendor or some place that cares. If you want to take a chance, then buy from eBay or Craigslist or a guy in a van. The policies here are aggressively hostile. For a protection plan that is not even active yet -- these don't activate for a month -- eBay ought to provide a simple refund, no questions asked. If an item is never sent, then a refund ought to be automatic, not harder to come by than the secret to nuclear fusion.

After weeks and hours and hours of going round and round -- a world tour of customer service including India, Pakistan, Colombia, and the Philippines -- I finally got a call from Allstate from a friendly woman based in Jamaica. The reason that she was so anxious to contact me to help me to resolve my issue? I had left a negative review of Allstate on ConsumerAffairs. So that seems to be the only thing that motivated Allstate to wake up and care.

In other words, the only way that I was able to get any useful customer service at all on the sham protection plan I was sold by eBay and Allstate was to spend weeks trying and failing to get help, and then to write about it here. Very few people will have the patience for this kind of followup, which means that they simply scam them. And how smart was I to waste so many hours on this? Not smart. What's smart is simply not to use either of these companies. eBay and Allstate created this terrible consumer experience together, and so both are equally responsible for this debacle. Allstate made a lame, too-little-way-too-late effort. Whether eBay cares at all about retaining my business is still an open question. But so far I have no reason to believe that they care.

They used to be more customer friendly, and it seems now that a seller can do whatever the hell they want, and they get away with it. I recently purchased a supposedly "new with tags" Disney Loungefly handbag. Long story short, there is NO WAY on GOD'S Green Earth the handbag was brand new. It even had a prominent brown stain on the back of it! I was literally getting nowhere with the seller; even after I gave a horrible review. When I could FINALLY get eBay to "step in" and help, it was a JOKE! The seller actually blamed ME for putting the stain on the handbag (yeah, right) and he was only willing at that point to give me a refund if I returned the handbag at MY cost! NO...WAY. And eBay SIDED WITH THE SCAMMING SELLER!

I immediately closed my eBay account, and will NEVER do business with them again! Not to mention so many sellers it seems just don't give a damn about customer service, and integrity and honesty seem to have gone out the window. They take your money and then take their sweet time mailing out your items. Double that with the slow postal service these days, and in my opinion it's just not worth it. Truthfully, even Etsy isn't that great anymore either. I'll stick with Amazon, or just doing my shopping the "old-fashioned" way and personally go the store. Disgusted with eBay.

This seller drop-shipped the items to me from Amazon, who I refuse to do business with and is the reason I buy things from eBay.

To top it off, the seller sent the wrong item and won't reply to emails. eBay has gone from very buyer friendly to very seller friendly which has led to so many scammers selling low quality crap with terrible customer service and why so many sellers have such low ratings now. Of course their filters won't let you search for sellers with positive ratings, so just to find what you want you have to wade through so many sellers with poor ratings. Ebay has become nothing more than a place where you can literally be scammed by eBay itself. I have products listed with these they charge the insertion fees enlisting fees at six times per listing and literally charge me every three days then when the item is sold they immediately charged shipping tax then charge percentage of 13.25 on top of all that for their fees and after the product was shipped and sent they turned around and charged me another 7% on top of everything so at the end of the day a $300 item would bring back Just over $200 after eBay took all their fees.

On top of that they held the money and have continued to hold the money stating they have to wait to see if this buyer is happy. Buyer left 5 star review days ago.
