Ebay sucks. They just screwed me financially for the second time in a year, and that will be the last time. First I bought a water pump from one of their sellers (who was selling defective Chinese pumps that fail immediately). After the defective pump caused my engine to overheat severely, they promised me $2000 as partial compensation. Then when I called them a few weeks later to get an ETA on my compensation, the phone rep just laughed and said they will never pay me a dime. I should have cancelled my 26 year old account that day but instead kept buying from them (LIKE A FOOL). Then I ordered a tire machine and wheel balancer from them which is shipped from China, and the tracking shows that they airlifted it to California, and then New York, (STATEN ISLAND WAS THE FINAL DESTINATION, AND I NEVER RECEIVED ANY OF THE ITEMS I PAID FOR (Tracking CY032695114CN).
Rather than file a claim with the useless ebay money back guarantee for buyers, I went straight to Chase bank and filed a dispute against ebay, as the seller already cancelled his account. The bank ended up giving most of the money back to me, except for a $70.14 gift card I had used for partial payment of the order. Looks like I will never see that $70.14 as ebay just refused to refund me...!!
Their customer service department is NOT based in the USA by the way, and everyone I have spoken with on the phone are incompetent jackasses that love to make false promises and lie to their customers...! THE EBAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE FOR BUYERS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE...!!! The ebay of old was honest and trustworthy, and did right by their customers 90% of the time. THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE....!!! I am done with the evil empire of ebay and will be cancelling my account with them TODAY...! If you are smart, you will do the same, before they screw you over as well...!!!!

On a recent sale where all shipping was paid by the buyer, eBay can't after me for double the cost of the item sold months after it was sold for additional shipping. The label was purchased through eBay and delivered. eBay essentially just took my stuff and then charged me for it, and that's collections to force me to pay. The sale was done accurately and legitimately. eBay won't return calls, answer any emails. They won't respond to the BBB complaint. My rating is 100% and they won't give me the time of day to prove to them they made a mistake.

Ebay does not care about the seller the least bit. They charge outrageous fees....if you sell an item at $400. You'll get $160. That's terrible. Even if the buyer pays for shipping costs. If the item is damaged in transit. They hold the seller responsible. Not the transportation service. When they refund you...they refund to any account other than the one you want them to. Like accounts that are no longer active. Then tell you oh well. Ebay is a terrible platform and should be shut down from operations.

God awful. Terrible customer service. Sellers may or not send purchased items and you have no way of working with eBay for resolution. In fact, they will close out the case because sellers can contact ebay but you can't. Bloody awful, never again ebay. I purchased one item, never received and ebay closed out the issue to sellers gain. Another item was returned, I even have UPS receipt, but seller refuses to acknowledge return and ebay is of no help. Again closed out to sellers advantage. If you don't care about your customers ebay you shouldn't have any. Stay far away from Ebay.

Ebay's heyday is long since gone. Constantly moving the goalposts and too many flaws in software like missing postage rates. As for customers it's people who want something for nothing and don't want to pay postage. Businesses who sell at a loss have set this trend. Customer Service useless at problem solving. Only salvation is that you can find things you don't see anywhere else.

I just rejoined eBay after years of avoiding them. Now I wish I had never re-joined and will be closing it again when the last 3 items come in. I had a seller taunt me and threaten me with saying she will report me to eBay and get me banned. She kept saying for 2 weeks she gave USPS my item to ship and USPS kept saying she had not even provided it to them. I provided feedback on her and she replied with lies about our conversation in eBay messaging. eBay would be able to read all of that and would know she is lying but you cannot reach eBay as a buyer.
She now keeps sending me messages with insults, so I found a VP's email address at eBay and shared all of the messages. Of course I will never hear back as eBay would have to care and they don't. Out of the 3 packages left to ship out, 2 have issues as well. One provided an invalid tracking number and won't respond. The other is the same issue I had where USPS says they do not have the package and the seller says they received it at USPS many days ago.
You cannot reach anyone at eBay and the customer service is so random with great sellers to absolutely horrible sellers. I filed a BBB complaint and I know that does nothing at all. I filed a FTC complaint and usually that doesn't do anything at all either. I am so sorry I trusted them again. eBay is the worst customer service and compares to PayPal as the most untrustworthy, in my opinion, of any corporation in the world. Anyone using them is doing so at their own risk as eBay will not help and will not allow you to reach an agent ever. I would have never known about the employees that were put in prison for crimes against a seller until I read it online. It is shocking to me that they are able to stay in business.

This company will steal money right out of your personal checking account without your knowledge. Horrible company refused to delete banking information and account. I have never in my life been treated so poorly the live agent would not allow me to speak to any sort of manager. She then asked if I needed any further assistance and hung up on me refusing to resolve my issue. Use selling platforms like Poshmark instead. It’s safer and way less of a hassle. I now will have to close my checking account and set up a new debit card and pin. Save yourselves.

Used eBay for 20 +years.... I Have watched ebay degrade over the last 20+ years... Twenty years ago I could actually speak to an ebay representative; but like many businesses, one no longer can. First they started controlling the ability to place an honest review about some creep who was not honest... (because it affects there fragile "feedback rating"!) and everyone needs a 100% 5 Star feedback whether they deserve it or not!!!! Right? Secondly, Ebay has made it very difficult to "End" one of my listings... (maybe I do not have that right...); afterall, it was my listing right?? Thirdly Ebay now has taken the "liberty" of lowering my "lowest offer" prices without even notifying me! And as we all know there is nothing better than "selling" an item at a price you have ZERO control over!!

eBay was great. But now they are losing sales, sellers and buyers. How hard is it to require a photo ID of the front door with package? Most of eBay‘s problems are with buyers and sellers not connecting with product. If eBay require photos, it would solve most of their problems. Sellers would be bound to deliver and buyers would be bound to understand that’s their door with product. eBay policy now is they say it was delivered you must pay. eBay is slowly going out of business.

30 year Ebay buyer & seller here. Someone wanted to buy something from me from overseas. I have never shipped or sold overseas before but the buyer begged me. So I got a hold of ebay on the phone & the agent walked me through the whole procedure. The measuring & weighing of the package, then Ebay would sell me the label, sold, shipped & hand delivered to USPS as the label says. I hear 1 1/2 months later the buyer never received it. I went through shipping info & yes I dropped it off & it went on its way but sometime at: Departed Asendia facility, BELL, CA, United States, BELL, United States
It's just vanished. No fault of my own but Ebay is blaming me & charging me back $165! They said there was insurance I can claim for $100 but I have to do all of that myself (copy this, screenshot that). Hey I am a disabled senior now & it makes it very hard on me, plus all the rest I just have to eat. Why would they underinsure this package? I had no control over that. Then a mail come in with the label apparently attached to the item shipping box originally, with an apology note from local post master that they found this label attached to other paecel boxes but they cannot locate the item. My take is that the seller sloppy package leads to the shipping label detached from the package. Ebay side with seller and did not refund. I lost money to ebay scam. Proper packaging/labeling prevents/protect mail. Seller did not send the item but a box with a shipping label designed to get lost in transit and he knows ebay is on his side and get paid for his scam with cover from ebay.
There is no way that the shipping label will detached from the original package if done properly. The seller did purposely to get the label detached from package in transit knowing ebay will back him and USPS cannot do any thing. This is a scam. Ebay is a scam. I have purchased silver coins from eBay and all of my purchases have been counterfeit. eBay makes it impossible to get the refund by not fixing their refund site where you have to mark as shipped with the tracking number. The site will not accept tracking numbers, it errors out and will ask you to try later. In the past 40 yrs I have ordered Items from eBay. over 80% have arrived damaged and unusable. Over the last 13 yrs, it's gotten worse. E-Bay uses Ascendia for its warehouses in Erlanger Kentucky USA and Mississauga Ontario Cda. Who then uses Intelcom (which used to be Dragonfly). Now they use UNI UNI. Reviews on all 3 are horrible. Asendia courier reviews are overwhelmingly negative, with customers frequently reporting lost packages, extreme delivery delays (weeks to months), poor tracking, and terrible customer service, often describing them as unreliable for international shipments, even when partnered with major retailers. Many users complain of unresponsive support and high, unexpected duty fees, making them a highly frustrating carrier choice for receiving online orders.
Intelcom - Intelcom reviews are highly mixed, with many customers reporting significant issues like lost/damaged packages, missed deliveries, poor customer service, and drivers failing to follow instructions, especially with large partners. Intelcomexpress Reviews 1,402 TrustScore 1.5 out of 5 overall average 1.3 Stars. Uniuni Reviews 1,813 TrustScore 1 out of 5 overall average 1.1 Stars.
I made another order Dec 15, 2025 with uniquely.britany for a Ceramic Stitch cookie jar. Pd $84.64 USD including Shipping GST which came to $121.36Cdn. There was a delivery on Jan 6/26 as per E-Bay. Uniuni did not knock or ring the bell. My dogs heard a small noise at the front door. We have cameras all around the property. I checked. The box was 6"x8"x4". I took pictures, opened the box. It was for Star Wars socks, I carefully peeled the label Ascendia put on the box. It was to a fellow named Jason ** in East Troy WI. Only Acendia could make that mistake. I live in Southern Alberta Canada. I contacted sent the pictures of item, misdirected labels, etc., to the Seller, they contacted E-Bay. I initiated a return.
On Jan10/26 our cameras at the front door, gave a notice something/someone made a delivery. It was a UniUni delivery. We started recording on my husband's cellphone along with the exterior camera. As soon as we picked up the box it was immediately apparent it was badly damaged.Opened the box, it was the cookie jar, shattered and now 4 days late on delivery. I contacted E-Bay CSR, and Anna -Utah 801-545-1800 called back. Said she'd look into it, it would be 72 hrs but assured me it would be resolved. I checked every subsequent day. I received a partial refund from uniquely.britany, but it was short $22.15USD. or $62.49 USD instead of the $84.64.USD.
I contacted E-Bay again, Jan, 16/26. Recorded that conversation with Aiden CSR - Utah 801-545-1800. He attempted to be helpful, however, the confusion on both E-Bay CSR's who could see the messaging between myself and the seller, was difficult as they kept forgetting there were 2 pkgs, one I ordered, that arrived 4 days late, and one they mislabeled that arrived on the 6th which was not my order. Then it was portrayed as something I could have changed, or that they could not discern who did what, yet I reiterated the videos, the recordings and the images, that showed mislabelling and loss of my package, either way, this is between E-Bay's Warehouses through Ascendia in Kentucky and Mississauga.
Aiden did eventually say he had a remedy, but again it would take 72 hrs. Because I had put in a return request for the package that was sent incorrectly to me in Southern Alberta Canada, which E-Bay and Ascendia claimed it was the Cookie Jar, when I attempted to put in a return for the actual delivery on Jan 10th of the completely damaged product, the program wouldn't let me. In my opinion. This is fraud, theft, and misuse of customer trust, by lack of responsibility on E-Bay, as they are the ones who contracted with Ascendia, who subsequently contracted with UniUni, who all have incredibly poor ratings and customer service.
E-Bay cannot avoid responsibilty claiming it wasn't their company. It is their company who enabled these inept businesses to handle their sellers' products to the detriment of both E-Bay and Customers/sellers. This is solely the responsibility of E-Bay and they are dancing around their accountability. If they do not refund the balance of my order, I will NEVER deal with E-Bay again, as this has been progressively bad business associations.

I ordered 2 fans that said that they were delivered and I was given a picture of a porch where my package was delivered that certainly was not mine! The seller (snowflake_864_09) kept giving me the runaround that everything was okay despite the fact that the tracking showed that my order had been delivered stating that it was in its way and not to use the tracking information, and I would receive it by a 1/10. After filing a complaint with eBay, 5-10 minutes later, they found in the merchant's favor, stating that the owner submitted proof of delivery by the picture.
All eBay had to do was look at Google Maps, look at my different colored door, and see clearly that the item was delivered to the wrong address! eBay's customer service has gone WAY down over the years and does not offer any phone support that I could find and no way to reply to their decision as they hide behind their technology, I feel and do not even allow one to defend their position! PLEASE, PLEASE do business with Amazon instead that has good phone support and a process that defends its customers from fraud, as eBay failed miserably!!!! Completely started to change from 2015 (new ownership by huge institutional investors) - sales started to drop, my expenses for eBay and PayPal fee plus storage expenses started to be equal to my profit. By 2017-2018 expenses becomes more than revenue!!! And losses just keep increases year by year. Customer Service right now is terrible - no such thing like Seller protection exist anymore - NEVER BEEN REFUNDED by eBay for cheating customers (claiming item not received) or returning items in bad condition!
Finally in the 2025 eBay removed without my authorization (or lost) all my inventory listings! For me to create all listings, update inventory and keep store running takes about 17-18 years of my life! Only to restore listings on eBay by myself will take couple months! Spoke with multiple eBay representatives and managers - they just can't do a thing about it! eBay claimed no records about inventory existed or about removing my inventory at all! That inventory in my eBay TAX files for 2024! And where sales comes from? They keep transferring me between multiple departments. eBay has gotten so bad, I wish I didn't have to give even one star. I purchased from 3 different sellers. Two of the three collectible items that I finally received are FAKE, and I can prove it. Not only that, one of the items was delivered by eBay delivery. Apparently the driver didn't know how to read an address and was extremely lazy. Instead of leaving the package at my FRONT door, it was in my BACK YARD and could not be seen from the back door or deck. The driver had to have stood at the sidewalk or street and thrown my package over the fence into my back yard.. This is the only way it could have gotten to where I finally found it..
Contacting eBay is almost impossible. They no longer allow customers to call in and you have to go through a ridiculous chat bot that constantly tries to redirect you to help articles to read. No help at all.. If you get lucky, you might get it to have an agent call you. After a LONG wait, I finally got a call, only no one on the other end spoke a single word and the call was disconnected. So I tried again with the chat bot, only to be told that no one was available and that they were closed... WHAT??
Now eBay wants me to go out of my way to return the counterfeit items back to the sellers, so that they can resell them and scam someone else.. Yes there is even more... I left one of the sellers well deserved feedback, and before I could even leave feedback for the other one, the first sellers feedback had disappeared!! I could not understand how one of them had such good feedback when they were clearly scamming people, (the other one was too new, I should have known better). Apparently they can just complain and get it removed.. Well that explains everything.
I used to buy and sell on eBay many years ago and they were great. Not anymore. The second this is resolved, I will be closing my account. The Attorney General needs to investigate this business. He further hung up on me and ended the call and could not explain any policy or any rules regarding my items and simply said, "We just don’t like it so we don’t want you to list it," when it’s fully compliant with every policy and I’ve heard from other supervisors that it is as well.

On November 10th, 2025, I purchased what I thought was a beautiful coat from a dealer out of China. Even before purchasing I read the reviews and googled their eBay business name. I knew it was a crap shoot ordering something from China, let alone a custom coat but, stupid me I did it anyway and how sorry I am today for doing so. They said it would be about 6 weeks before receiving it and it was.
I watched the delivery truck pull up and the driver walk the package to the door. When I went out on the porch to retrieve it, I knew immediately from the size of the package I had been scammed. There is no way for a 54-inch-long over coat could fit in that small a bag. The only thing I am sorry about is that I did not film me opening it. When I did open it, I unpacked a toxic lime green woman's bustier costume with these long tail pieces hanging all around it and worst yet elbow gloves. I couldn't even be overly ticked off because in the back of my mind I knew it was possible to be scammed like this.
I reached out to eBay who responded by offering to get involved with the return process if needed but there really is no need. The dealer sent me a return label, but it was not legitimate, nothing I could put on a FedEx package indicating that they would be paying for it. Also, when they responded they included a copy of the order that had a picture of the coat I bought. So, what do you think would happen when I returned the trash, they sent me? Well, no more eBay for me and definitely never ever buying anything from any dealer out of China and it's sad because it seems that 99% of the dealers of the fashion sites are. I only wish I could list the dealers name here in this review. Like I said, lesson learned. Buy nothing from China. The picture of the coat is what I ordered and expected to receive and that green thing is what I received.

As the share drops, costs/fees to sellers to up. Customer service is almost non existent and if you do get ahold of a rep they're at a call center most likely in the Philippines with little or no authority to resolve issues. Finally, as a seller, if you ever had a dispute over a transaction, Ebay will most likely settle in favor of the buyer regardless of the circumstances or how right you, as a seller, might be. This happened to me on a $500 sale. The buyer had blatantly lied and no matter the evidence I sent in Ebay reached into my account and took out the money. There is a list of BAD experiences with eBay.com. For this review, I will simply explain my latest experiences. Buyers have opened what eBay calls a case. These file states that they never received the item that they purchased from me. Each item had a tracking number and the tracking number shows that the item was delivered. One buyer stated the envelope was empty. Another buyer stated they had not received it, and tracking again shows that they had received the item. This particular buyer sent several messages to me stating the package had been received, and that it had been damaged in shipping. I instructed the buyer to contact USPS. eBay sent me a message stating that my funds were on hold because of a case that was open regarding a non-received item. The representative, verified that the tracking number showed that the item had been delivered. And my funds would still be on hold for 6 days.
I couldn't seem to make the representative understand that she verified that the item was received and that should be the end of it, and my funds should be released. She simply read a standard script stating that they will investigate and I can open a case at that time. That would make me wait even longer for my funds to be released. I asked you to speak with a supervisor, which is simply a joke. The leadership team member simply restated over and over what the first representative had stated.
For whatever reason, he seems to always side with the buyer even when their own evidence shows just the opposite of what the buyer stated. And the item had been received and eBay has a documented tracking number to verify delivery. Ultimately nothing has changed. eBay staff just simply repeats and repeat. Their leadership team has no ability or authority to resolve any issues. So after 26 years of using eBay I've come to the realization that the time has come for this relationship to end. I truly know that I would not do business with a company that had this type of rating.

When I attempted to close the account again, I was informed that a confirmation email would be sent to finalize the closure — but that email never arrived. Despite repeated attempts, my account remained open, and eBay continued to issue charges.
After reporting these issues and disputing the charges, my account was sent to collections, even though the problem originated from eBay’s failure to complete the closure process properly. This is unacceptable. At this point, I have no trust in eBay’s business practices and am considering legal action to resolve this matter. I would never use their services again under any circumstances.

I am an individual that does not appreciate being lied to. From my experience I was surprised to discover that Ebay will say whatever is needed to make a sale and that includes lying to customers. I always thought Ebay was a trustworthy site to purchase or sell items as it turns out they will do or say anything to make a sale. I have had exceptional service using Amazon and after what Ebay pulled on me, I would recommend to anyone to check out Amazon before buying on Ebay, they treat their customers with respect. If you decide to buy from Ebay, make sure you read everything carefully and be very persistent as to your follow up. Ebay tries to always blame the seller if there is a problem you are always referred to the seller, they (Ebay) will not accept any responsibility for an issue.

I recently bought three items (sewing patterns) from a seller. The shipping costs for each item were added together and I was charged nearly $60 to ship three sewing patterns. This is egregious and outrageous. I asked the seller if he could give a partial credit because the shipping should have been significantly less. He tried and said he couldn't because the items were shipped through eBay's International Shipping system and the charges were set. I contacted customer service to see if they could help, and the agent kept me on the phone for an hour talking a lot but saying nothing of substance, and I finally put it to him and asked if he had a solution and he didn't. Nice! After wasting an hour of my time. He said he would send a message to his colleagues to see if they could help, and someone should come back to me in a day or two. That was about a week ago and nobody has contacted me.
In addition, since the beginning of this year, eBay began adding VAT on all purchases at checkout. I have no issues with this, but it appears that the customs authorities in my country are not being informed because I have received additional invoices from customs charging me VAT and fees on nearly every purchase I've made with eBay this year. I have taken the matter up with eBay and they have refunded me for the double payments, but I've told them they need to coordinate with Customs and get their act together so we aren't forced to pay VAT twice for the same purchase and then have to waste time requesting reimbursements for the overpayments. I've been an eBay member for 26 years and I think I've reached the end.
UPDATE: I finally got a response from eBay's customer service today. I had exchanges with three different people who all basically repeated the same thing: they listed a few possible reasons why my three items weren't combined into one shipment (I got one packet with two items and a second one with the third item) despite my putting them in the cart and checking out at the same time. NONE of those reasons were applicable to this purchase. Listing irrelevant possibilities without specifics is meaningless because such vagaries allow eBay to justify its actions without any accountability. And they repeated that they don't give refunds for shipping. The International shipping center can set whatever extortionate prices they wish to ship items without rhyme or reason. Is it any wonder sellers and buyers are leaving eBay in droves?

As a Top Rated Seller, I have had three serious claims recently where buyers lied to get a refund and eBay automatically sided with them, with no chance for me to have a fair say! There have been many lesser claims as well, where buyers lied to get free shipping on a return. Very easy to game the system at sellers' expense.
I always send new items, and most recently a customer took a picture of an old very damaged similar product and screamed at me through capital letters with 15 exclamation points about how horrible the product was. eBay refunded her without me even having a chance to see the fake item. It was not even returned! Doesn't matter that I've never done anything like this with that same product for 13 years. I was guilty with no chance to prove innocence!
Yeah, fees are stupid high and keep climbing with no benefit to the seller. I have dealt with that, but these unfair AI judgments are the last straw! Customer support is not real helpful if you try to appeal. It is fight, fight, fight and maybe you'll get a thinking human to read your case, most likely not. Please note that you may not be covered by the eBay Seller Protection Policy is the changes you make are substantially different from what the buyer intended."
The buyer included one version of his street address on Address Line 1 and a different version on Address Line 2. In addition the buyer has inserted the town name and zip code behind the street address on Address Line 1 and inserted the state name behind the street address on Address Line 2. The town name, state and zip code are already included other fields and they do not go within the Address Line 1 or Address 2, which are used for street addresses and/or P.O. Boxes. eBay tells me to change the address, which I am not going to do as I am not going to liable for the package being lost due to an address change. It's also not my job to change the address.
It's eBay's job to verify the shipping address of the buyer when they register. Many companies' license address data from USPS, but eBay does not care to because it does not care about its users at all. When I order products from third party vendors on Amazon and I use my street address it's Amazon, the platform, that ask about the address I want to use for the shipment. Amazon is not forcing its vendors to work out the details with the buyer of the product. eBay has wasted my time listing the item, packing the order and cancelling the order! Now it's buyer protection only on everything. You can have a buyer receive an item, decide they didn't like it and as a seller have to pay for the return, simply because the buyer used a return option that made the seller pay for the label. You call and dispute the return and Ebay gives you some run around about how you can hold them accountable after you approve the return, pay for the label and receive the item. Only to find out, no you have to complete the return and report the buyer and hope that they take action or give you a credit. There is no consistency in their policies except to protect the buyer at all costs. Yes Ebay is a business and is there to make money.... yes the buyer is spending that money. But what they miss in the equation is the seller provides the product. If you don't have the seller, what is the buyer suppose to buy??? After reading the 3 separate comments saying the item was a scam, within 5 minutes I attempted to cancel the order. 5 minutes later the seller said no cancelation because the item had been shipped. I received a tracking number and waited. Saw the shipping label was created in Texas and saw the item go from there to my state. To the local USPS and then I get a notification saying the package had been delivered. My roommate was sitting on the porch waiting for the package to show up. I call and ask, "Is it there?" They say, "No, no one has even came by in a USPS truck."
So I immediately inform eBay how I've indeed been scammed exactly like the 3 others on the seller's profile. I message the seller and their response, "Let me see if the warehouse sent it to the wrong address". More time goes by, eBay responds and says, "The seller provided tracking information that says the package was delivered. No refund for you!!!" I appeal with an email the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE sent me stating the following 1. The address on the tracking number provided to me from the seller wasn't to my address. (Part of the scam). 2. Confirmed the weight of the package shipped to the address on the tracking number was 4.99 ounces. Not a 12 pound bandsaw. eBay responds and says, "The seller provided a tracking number so our original decision was upheld."
The seller has taken all items listed to sell down from their profile and no longer scams under that profile name. I've contacted my bank and they are in the process of reviewing the case and informed me I'll likely get my money back and Visa will hold eBay responsible for the charge. So folks long story short. When someone scams you from eBay and closes their profile down, eBay isn't going to give you your money back. So this was the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life trying to purchase something.
I will never use Scam Bay again. You literally can't get a human on the phone, they will tell you it's outside of their normal business hours at 1pm in the afternoon and hang up on you. So Monday morning I'm calling to Post Master Inspector to report whomever sent the package originally from Texas. I'm also considering calling the FBI to try and give as much information to them to try and hold the scammer responsible. 108 dollars is a lot of money nowadays. I should have it back in my account this week. It only took 3 weeks and a whole lot of effort. Thanks eBay, thanks for the experience.

Ebay lets buyer scammers run rampant and doesn't educate sellers on proper customer service and quality control. The seller fees are astronomical and unless it's a white hot item the algorithm will not allow many views thus forcing a promote of item. Generally 10% additionally to be remotely effective. I hardly see any Ebay Company advertising which would be easy to do even on YouTube. This would drive sales for sellers because the buyers are really no longer there. In fact most would rather not use Ebay unless they have to. Too many times the sellers send poor products, not cleaned or just completely ridiculous packaging job and arrives damaged. It's frustrating, how many times can you receive crap and keep coming back. No seller vetting process and the feedback system is ineffective.
There are also time and time again when you buy a product...the seller refunds, saying they don't have it. Why are they selling it then and why aren't there several penalties for that. Simply aggravating. Then the buyers scam the sellers, there's a reason they call it "FreeBay". So the sellers get jaded, the buyers cancel orders with impunity all the time too. So the sellers get a bad attitude and then offer poor customer service.
Ebay just sides with the buyers because they already scared the buyers away. Do you know how quick and easy Amazon is? Or if you buy a record off Discogs it's clean and accurately graded. Ebay is an overpriced mess, with terrible customer service and sellers/buyers ripping each other off. If Ebay is going to charge that much they need to clean the site up, rid the den of fools and thieves, restoring consumer confidence and make it hip again. It appears though Ebay is comfortable hemorrhaging buyers who have had an exodus out of ebay because it's not worth all the aggravation. It's not worth it for anyone unless you really have to, that sad & simple. Regretfully.

The seller bought their shipping label through eBay, and it had a duplicate tracking number. I mentioned this as soon as the tracking info was available to all involved (seller, ebay, usps), nobody cared. It is now 2 weeks past the shipping date and the item is still doing loops 100's of miles away. Seller refuses to refund, usps closed lost package case, and ebay has put the case on a "hold" created outside of their terms and conditions. They have a stated guarantee, but they are refusing to honor it... making the guarantee not only worthless, but a lie and false advertising. My bank also refuses to do anything since I did authorize this transaction. I suppose if you want to just send money to random people and a cut to ebay for nothing in return, then this website is for you. Given that ebay changes terms and conditions and doesn't honor their own promises and advertising, they've simply turned into a scam.

I just had one of the worst online selling experiences with eBay, and I need folks to know: sellers beware. I listed a piece of high-value equipment on eBay for $850 and ended up accepting a $700 offer—fair enough. What wasn’t fair? eBay charged me 13.5% just for using the platform, then another 13.5% for “promoting” the item—an option that looked like a required part of the listing process. It was designed to look identical to the base fee, and I honestly had no idea it was optional. That means before I even got to shipping, I was already out $189 in fees.
But it gets worse. When I went to ship the item, there was a big "Ship Now" button. I used it, and eBay charged me another $113 to print a USPS label—only for me to later find out USPS doesn’t even accept packages over 50 lbs, which this item clearly is. So not only did they charge me for a shipping method that doesn’t work, they then locked the refund in a 14–21 day limbo even though the system says it’s “completed.”
Now my funds are tied up. Out of a $700 sale, I’ve got maybe $300 available after eBay’s predatory fees and misguiding platform design. And the equipment I sold is easily worth $3,400—I accepted less to just move it quickly. eBay’s UI is misleading, the fee structure is exploitative, and the shipping tool is broken. This isn’t a simple mistake—it’s a pattern of deceptive business practices. I’ve documented everything with screenshots and am in the process of filing with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection.
Bottom line: if you're a seller trying to use eBay to move high-value equipment, think twice. You’re better off listing locally or using a more transparent platform. The way that the platform functions, with mostly automated service and all offshore customer support, there is little empathy and little problem solving afforded to the seller, which is still the customer.

You know I've been a eBay member for awhile now and normally use it to buy Jordans online. I was kind of iffy at first because I didn't want to take the chance of getting reps but I just really watched what I ordered from them. And then all of a sudden one day when I'm waiting on an order to come that still hasn't came yet I receive an email stating that my account is permanently suspended. For what? I still don't know why. I've asked customer service so I could get it straightened out that whatever they think I did wrong I really wish they would let me know, especially since I'm still waiting to receive an order that's now late.
I could get absolutely no help except your account is suspended permanently and I didn't even do anything wrong. It's really messed up considering I'm still waiting on a now late order from them I'm obviously not going to get because they haven't even shipped the item and it was supposed to be delivered by now. It puts me in a really hard situation bc of them suspending my account. And I really didn't break their rules whatsoever so I don't see what the problem is.
You shouldn't take people's money, decide not to send the product, keep their money and then just suspend their account. That's so wrong. It's unreal. It's like because y'all messed up and didn't send what I ordered you just decided to keep my money then suspend my account to where I can't do anything to get my money back. It's unreal what you can put someone through. I've bought so many Jordans off this site then all of a sudden bam can't ever do business again with them. Wtf I mean seriously.

eBay seems to favor sellers with protection over buyers. I recently ordered an online Yamaha receiver from eBay. The seller was Global Deals 24/7. https://www.ebay.com/str/groovylion, the item was described as factory sealed new AV receiver. When I received the item the packing box was damaged on one end and upon opening very little paper packing material with the Yamaha receiver box crushed on one side. I opened the package and the receiver had been crushed on top. I immediately contacted the seller that evening and by the next afternoon he had replied and said "so you're just going to ignore my response". I didn't know what to think but said, "I have a job and just got home from work."
I told him the receiver was damaged in my email response and he said, "Did it work?" He might offer a partial refund. I said, "The thing is crushed. I bought a new factory sealed AV receiver" and said that, "Looking at the ad the box appears already crushed from your listing." The guy became very adversarial and argumentative and said he was calling eBay to complain about me. I answered back that I would contact eBay as well as PayPal and my credit card company. With this, we exchanged a couple more emails disputing the facts until eBay shut all communication down with a statement that they have been told that I contacted my credit card company and that the return dispute was closed.
PayPal deferred to my Visa card. I had sent photos of the damaged box on the initial ad and the damaged outer box and product box with the pictures of the crushed receiver. I sent these to the seller, PayPal, and my credit card company. The credit card company sent me a letter with the seller's comments that this was not the receiver that he sold me. I might be trying to get rid of an old receiver. I was pretty surprised and disappointed that a businessperson would take this route, particularly since online feedback had been positive about their store. I think he simply was overly triggered by the concern I raised about the item not matching the description of new and factory sealed when you could clearly tell the box had been opened, crushed, re-taped, etc.
All interactions with the seller in eBay were closed off and no ability for feedback. I felt like eBay abandoned me and it felt punitive since they just stated I chose to use the credit card company for my dispute (without waiting 2 days before eBay would step in). EBay's response to my credit card company was also disappointing, as they simply said buyer did not return the item. They gave me no options for return. The seller's website said no returns. He never offered an option to return.
Bottom line, as a buyer receiving a damaged item, eBay should have protected me and a reputable business person would have simply owned up to the damaged whether known or unknown (possibly damaged in transit) and made this right. This has been an entirely wasteful process for a business owner and me as a buyer for $500. EBay won't let you complain on their site and have closed my ability to give feedback on the seller. Buyer beware on eBay. The pictures are so compelling I hope my bank card decides in my favor. I do not want evil to prevail.

I just purchased a phone case on eBay and very shortly after receiving the phone case, I was alerted that my account had been suspended. After some digging, I saw that there was a $10.96 seller's fee (I have never in my life used eBay to sell an item). After spending an hour on the phone, I spoke with one rep who told me that the fee was an error and that it needed to be removed from my account. He couldn't do it, so he referred me to another department that could. That department decided that the fee was legit and needed to be paid.
I asked her to show me (on my end) where she received the information that I had been a seller. She walked me through some steps that took me to an empty seller's "invoice" page that stated: "No invoices to display" dating back to the day I opened my eBay account. She grew increasingly frustrated with me (and me with her) as she insisted that I was not clicking on the correct drop down box that shows all my past invoices. I insisted that there was no drop down box (except for a small field that allowed me to enter dates--which I did).
At the end of our conversation (approaching 1.5 hours total) she said, "Ma'am you just need to pay the fee" to which I responded, "So you have no way of showing or telling me where the fee is coming from and no way of deleting the fee. This is the final solution?!" I told her that I would rather just keep my account suspended and ended the call. I don't buy a lot on eBay, but they just lost one (previously) very happy customer.

(In my case it was a bank branch)
Despite providing USPS documentation proving the fraud, Ebay customer support dismissed my claim stating they do not accept any documents from other companies as proof (even USPS, and filled report to Police) covering the seller making me thinking someone from customer service is involved in this scam, citing that the package was “delivered. to the right zip code” This policy gap - relying only on city and zip code for delivery confirmation - is a serious flaw that puts buyers at risk.

When the buyer received the package and asked for $25 refund for 7 broken pieces instead of returning of the package, I was out of country and could not read my emails. However, eBay never tried to call or text me even eBay had my cell phone number. I would have given $25 refund to the buyer if I had known the buyer's request. Unfortunately, eBay made a mistake not giving the buyer $25 refund. Instead, eBay mistakenly allowed the buyer to return the “No Return” item to me without my permission and without doing any investigation to determine what caused the damage.
Additionally, eBay mistakenly allowed the buyer not to return 7 broken pieces of the dinnerware sets without my permission, which was unacceptable to any sellers. eBay charged me $359.00 on May 12 for the return without my permission and without doing any investigation. eBay also charged me another $71.90 on May 17 for the return shipping label (total $430.90). For this sale, I lost 8 valuable pieces of the Dinnerware Sets and ended up with a loss of $196.19 ($430.90 - $234.71), which is unfair and ripping off the sellers.
I sent emails to eBay on May 21 and May 23 asking eBay to refund me the unauthorized charge of $196.19, eBay denied my request. I sent another email to eBay on May 26 to tell eBay that I would contact my bank to dispute the payment. So I contacted the seller to return it and the seller told me to take it to any shipper I wanted to and get a tracking number and receipt for the cost of shipping it back to them and they would refund me the cost of the part and the shipping when they received the part at their facility.
The part cost $44 and the shipping cost $102 so I thought it was kind of stupid of them to have me ship it back to them rather than just throwing it away. Well, I found out why they had me pay for the shipping, it's because they had no intention of refunding me the shipping costs. And when I asked eBay to step in and help me, they told me it was my fault for listening to the seller and following his instructions instead of reading all the policies that eBay has.
But they could put the policy that buyers should "NEVER" pay for shipping in big letters everywhere, instead of telling the buyers to contact the obviously sneaky dishonest buyers for returns so they can take advantage of us. eBay claims you don't have to worry about getting taken advantage of that they guarantee your money is protected, well, I'm calling a big BS on that. Awful customer service. Sold a pair of children’s shoes in used condition and took many photos showing this conditions, including any marks. As a private seller, I do not accept returns. However, many buyers on Ebay like to abuse this policy as Ebay provide ‘money back guarantee.’ So, buyer submitted a not as described claim due to their own stupidity, for not looking at photos where marks were shown. I had 2 options to resolve this a) let buyer keep item and refund (I am not a charity so was not going to do this) or b) pay £3.25 for buyer to post them back to me. In previous experience, where a buyer has submitted such a false claim, Ebay have always told me to go ahead with option b and call them once I receive the item to confirm it is all as described and as a seller I am not at fault.
However, the Ebay representative on the phone today told me that I should not have accepted the return, despite the fact there is no other option, as although she agreed with me that I was not at fault with the item’s condition (this being clearly shown in photos). I should have apparently called them instead, which if you are aware it is meticulously hard with their AI chatbot. Since introducing the buyer protection service, Ebay’s customer service has become abysmal. I spent over an hour on the phone speaking to a representative and then was put on hold for over 20 minutes to speak to her supervisor, who was no more helpful. Upon asking for clarification, I was told it was because of "proprietary reasons" that they refuse to tell me, and said "yes removing it something you want." (Whatever that means because it's in english but the words do not make sense). They also told me it was in my best interest to not ask any more questions regarding my account. (Is that a threat or what?) Then, 15 minutes after that email, they sent me a welcome to eBay email with a link. When I click the link, it goes to a page that says I'm not a registered user.

I purchased an item on eBay on May 4, 2025, and never received it. The seller uploaded a USPS tracking number that appeared to show delivery to my ZIP code, but when I contacted USPS, they confirmed the tracking number was not related to me or my address. It had been used months earlier for a completely different package. Despite providing this information to eBay, including USPS confirmation that the tracking was spoofed or recycled, eBay denied my refund and my appeal. They chose to side with a fraudulent tracking entry instead of protecting a legitimate buyer. There is clearly a loophole in eBay’s system where sellers can upload fake tracking to avoid refunds, and eBay will do nothing about it. I lost my money and got no support from eBay. Extremely disappointing for a company of this size.

I have been an eBay customer for 15 years and have bought numerous items throughout the years. They really disappointed me this week with their eBay guarantee phrase. I ordered a Gshock watch from a seller and the tracking number never updated until it arrived at my door step this Friday. I have conversation chat with the seller on my account that shows he agreed to let me return it if it showed up since I bought another from a different seller. eBay customer service said yes they see that conversation and would help me. Today I get a notice saying they are sticking with their decision on not helping me get my money back. So now I have two of the same watches. I have emailed the seller also and he's not even answering. I will not be using eBay any longer. Also they are no longer open on weekends to help out customers.

I purchased a new aluminum radiator that advertised a 5 year warranty from an online seller on Ebay. When I received the package I noticed there was no physical address for the seller. My gut feeling said, keep the box it came in. I installed the radiator on my car and it leaked. After numerous call to Ebay, I was finally able to speak with an Ebay representative, who in essence said, Ebay doesn't have a phone number or address for me to use to contact the seller, for a replacement radiator. I continued to use the email system provided on the Ebay website to reach out to the seller, to no avail. Now, I'm out $250.00!!
I've called every Ebay phone number I can find on the internet and each time I get the same recorded message. It seems to me Ebay doesn't care about the buyer and what happens after the sale. I feel, a seller who sells a defective item on the Ebay platform and does not honor their warranty should require Ebay to be responsible, for allowing a fraudulent a seller to advertise warranty claims on their (Ebay) website. I have received NO HELP from EBAY!! They deserve -5 Stars!!

As a seller on eBay since 2007 I experienced either difficulty or impossibility to reach an agent who is able to assist with a problem. eBay created a labyrinth of next to impossible selections that are not geared to easily accomplish the consumers required request. For example: At the Buyers request, I attempted to cancel the $1500 sale and refund his money. $1274 was my portion eBay deposited in my bank account. eBay created a convoluted series of confusing steps I followed. I learned weeks later eBay prevented the refund and all my efforts were unsuccessful. Why, I wondered. What became evident to me was eBay designed a system that allows eBay to 1. hold onto money as long as possible, 2. eBay delayed my efforts to imposes penalties against me (Seller). 3. The Buyer is given only choices to select that eBay uses against the Seller to impose various fees.
eBay the gave me 3 days to respond to the Buyers complaint that did not reflect reality. eBay offered “Item Not Received”. While this is the result of a canceled sale it is not accurate or applicable to say “item not received”. However no options are available for the Buyers to be accurate or add his own words. Also the Seller is not able correct the path eBay has chosen. eBay forces the seleection that allows them to benefit. eBay designed a system that ends up generating money to eBay. eBay did not allow a quick and easy way to unwind the sale within 72 hours or cancel the sale by mutual agreement and quickly refund the Buyer. There was no dispute. eBay created and required their dispute process that enabled eBay to keep money longer, and charge fees because they insisted on a long drawn out process instead of a quick and easy refund.
But it gets worse. The next sale eBay put a hold on all the proceeds approximately $185. OK. No big deal. I was out of town for medical reasons. I asked the Buyer to cancel the order and I would not sell to anyone else. I received an e-mail asking to Agree to a Refund. I selected the blue box Agree to Refund. Ah but eBay has other ideas. They provided a limited choice for the buyer to select and pretty much forced “Item Not Delivered” that created a dispute where no dispute existed and here we go again. A long drawn out process while eBay holds the Buyers money and charges me “dispute”fees and other charges I don’t understand.
eBay at all times help the Buyers money - I got nothing. Again I received an email giving me three days to agree to a refund. Again I agreed. eBay prevented the refund. I contacted eBay got to an escalation agent explained my goal. He agreed eBay is holding the money from this sale. In short on Aril 28th the agent assured me the refund would be complete within 24 hours. That never happened.
May 10th eBay sends me an e-mail advising me they are going to take $216 from my bank account, and there is nothing I can do. I requested a call from an eBay agent which has often been a difficult process. Agent John, in escalations seemed to be in agreement but eBay apparently follows the customer is never right so John required my call to be transferred.
After numerous tries I was transferred to an agent in the Selling dept. Asking Anna questions produced a disconnect / dial tone. This is a tactic, I experienced on prior calls with eBay. As expected Anna didn’t show the courtesy to call me back, apologize or address my questions. This solidifies my belief that dropping the call was not an accident. I believe nothing eBay does is an accident including reaching website pages that don’t exist in an effort to frustrate the consumer into giving up. After hitting a dead end instead of the help I am looking for. This repeated on each try so I get the feeling it is all by design.

So I bought a rebuilt salvage title Cadillac on eBay, it wasn’t cheap. I thought I was doing OK cause the seller offered a 2000 mile warranty satisfaction guarantee, in the car only have 31,000. The title showed up a month after the car. The seller Discount Luxury, because the transmission shutters at one point agreed to take the car back and then backed out.
I tried to transfer the car into my name, the title had been jumped like three or four times in the back from one dealership to another. It has the wrong mileage on it. Names have been crossed out and wrote over. It’s not usable. Ebay will do nothing because of the rebuilt title. They don’t warrant anything. After battling back-and-forth with him, trying to get the seller to produce a good title they still will do nothing and to make matters worse. They remove the ad that I bought the car from giving me some kind of excuse that they need the space and they will not make the seller complete the sale so I can leave a bad review. He’s got 100% positive feedback and I’d like to let other people know that he’s a crook.

They now charge an up front fee of 13.5 percent of the reserve amount regardless if your item sells or not. Highway Robbery. Customer service rep would not escalate me to a supervisor. Shady business. Closed my account after 24 years.

Extremely unsatisfied. I never received my items, but got mail to review them. For some of them time of delivery did not come yet, but it asks if it was delivered in time.... I wrote I never received. The seller is offended. I contact e-Bay customer service with screenshots of threatening mail like address can not be found and extra charges are going to apply. I explain that every delivery man finds my PO mail box easy and this is checked and clear and there is no mistakes. I am getting the answer with advices to check my home address, like house or apartment number, etc. and they close the conversation! Extremely rude and disrespectful!
They did not read what I wrote them or they do not know what PO box is? No even reaction for my screenshot about site which delivery service redirects me is considered dangerous and security system no way lets me to open it "to correct the address" More than that! They say delivery is not their responsibility as a selling platform!!! I demand my money back now and I will go all legal ways to get them. Of course, never going to use e-bay anymore. Date of experience: May 02, 2025.

eBay looks great but is a horrible experience for sellers. They charge you fees for even the shipping label as well as the taxes. Further, I ship all things well but things break I guess. So, trying to process a refund is problematic. First it does not allow me to refund everything as, guess what, eBay charges a fee for the return, and second, tells me I have to wait 7 days before I request an insurance claim with USPS. (When I will be on vacation.) Never ever again with eBay as seller.
