As a seller I found listing very easy but finding out the payouts and when you're going to get paid out, how you get paid out, I always get messed up. Shipping prices thanks to eBay and so I never get reimbursed or I lose about 10 bucks usually because of the price of USPS. Then eBay doesn't really reimburse you correctly I believe for your shipping. They take percentage out of your shipping. And then they charge taxes. It's none of their business. Thanks to USPS they basically make an item that's let's say worth a hundred bucks no longer worth a hundred bucks. It's worth 50 bucks because it costs 25 bucks to ship a comic book let's say which that's what it costs to ship a comic book without any damage to it.

So in sense eBay has destroyed the entire collectibles market in America and they need to be destroyed like GameStop. They started with the PayPal. Same owner as eBay and then they act as if they aren't each other and then they just gaslight you and they steal everything from the community and now America is lost 4.5 million jobs on eBay since covid because of high shipping prices. And if you think these people aren't a part of it you're wrong. They are. It's all intentionally to screw America.

EBay is the worst company for buyers. I bought a statue worth $515.29. When the seller refused to pay me back eBay did nothing about it. You cannot get a hold of a person, a live person and when you go to eBay, they just have automatic comebacks. I will not buy anything else from eBay. It is just horrible place to buy anything.

I have been a seller and buyer on eBay for about 30 years and YES it has gotten worse and worse, you can see the decline on a monthly .... ebay is a shell of the company it used to be .... I am reading a lot of complaints here about sellers on here and about how ebay always sides with the seller .... NOT, NOT even close to being true.... I have sold a few thousand items on ebay mostly patches but every time a customer complains ....ebay takes their side before they even look into the matter. I do still have a 100% rating, but from what I see eBay needs to really revamp and rework its operation .... They are falling faster and faster every year ....

Most of the time I use ebay mail and it is really bad, ebay mail is not the same as USPS mail... Tracking is crazy bad, delivery on time is even worse, they ebay and USPS needs to stop the lying when they give you a delivery date, it is almost always late ... Maybe 25-50% of my mail is late and at least 10% is lost every month....

eBay needs to get their business back on track and they need to start with stopping the post office from treating ebay mail like crap and then the greed in the way they charge way too much to sell on their site is insane.... You cannot even find good deals on ebay any longer ... ebay takes at least 30 to 40 percent of the total sale....and charge they charge the seller for Taxes and shipping like we made money off the shipping and Taxes....I hardly ever buy off ebay any longer, just too hard to find any deals....I have to raise my prices so high on my patches just so I can make a few dollars off a patch....ebay needs to work on all these problems and issues FAST before we all go under.

I sold a graded Pokémon card (SGC 7 holographic Dark Charizard) through eBay auction. The buyer paid and the item was shipped securely using standard protective packaging for graded collectibles. After delivery, the buyer opened a return request claiming the item was damaged. I accepted the return request in good faith and followed eBay’s return process.

When the return was received, the original item was not included. Instead, I received a sealed stack of low-value Energy cards. The graded card I originally shipped was not returned. Despite this mismatch, the buyer received a full refund. I submitted evidence through the dispute process and again during appeal, including documentation showing the discrepancy between the shipped item and returned contents. The appeal was denied and the case was closed.

The financial loss was significant, but the larger issue is that the seller protection system did not appear to account for item substitution during the return process. From my experience, even when a seller follows every required step—shipping properly, accepting returns in good faith, and submitting evidence—the outcome may still favor the buyer even when the returned item is not the original item sent. I am sharing this so other sellers, especially those dealing in collectibles, understand the risk involved with high-value items under the current return process.

Such a disappointment, Sold a high value item, followed all the procedures and processes. The buyer confirmed delivery and satisfaction with the transaction after a week. But eBay retains the funds for 31 days. Contacted the joke of eBay support, no clue what they are doing or even any clear understanding of how to help, they simply read off a script for each keyword they hear. And on top of all that, the exorbitant fees they charge, you get nothing from them except a popular platform. That’s the key to get change from them, use other platforms.

I had an account on eBay for 2.5 years, the last year has been an absolute nightmare. Customer service has been absolutely useless, and I have actually witnessed as a seller, buyers attempting to scam me, after receiving product making a claim that it was damaged and demanding a refund and if I refused, they threatened to send it back damaged. As a buyer, I have witnessed sellers that have sold products and not shipped, I later found out that they were scammers. I received my money back, however, I was told by customer service that it happens from time to time, as a seller, I know for a fact, you cannot create an account on eBay and accept money for goods unless you prove who you are and verify your bank account. It is impossible to set up an eBay account without verifying you are real.

I have also witnessed eBay manipulating seller reviews by not only removing negative feedback left from buyers to warn future buyers of possible scams but eBay giving sellers 100% positive feedback score when they have in fact received negative feedback, after reporting this to eBay and telling them I was going to report it to other online platforms. They blocked my account and are preventing me from selling or purchasing anything on the platform, furthermore, I have more than $300 in sales that they are refusing to give me, I believe somebody at eBay has pocketed my profits.

Update: I just found out that eBay is selling the platform and to get the most money possible from the acquisition, they are manipulating seller feedback to make the platform look safer than it actually is. This is fraud and it is in direct violation of the Federal Trade Commission. eBay is absolutely not a safe platform to do business on.

Customer service at eBay is non-existent. Relying on AI to answer issues which lack effectiveness. Direct customers to use eBay help site, which is worthless and does not answer any questions. Called 866-540-3229 and it directs you to the help site and then hangs up. A multi-billion-dollar company having a rating of 1.3 out of 5 is true characteristic of "LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE" protocol for eBay.

I ordered 4 sets of 4 packs of coffee which means 16 packs of coffee and received only 4 packs. I have been trying to get help from eBay customer service for the last 8 days, and it is impossible to find any human being to talk to and get a resolution. It is obvious that eBay policy is to make it extremely hard and impossible for customers to reach out for help, even though they are very quick to charge your account for the purchases made. In contrast to eBay, Amazon has excellent customer service and if Amazon can implement such an excellent customer service protocol, then eBay could do it if the company desires to do so.

Rating of 1.3 means it is not eBay management desire to do so. The rating of 1 in this review is more than generous and in reality, it should be rated at ZERO or less. I contacted seller during the last 8 days and do not get any response to when my short shipped products will be shipped. 4 packs were delivered on June 9, 2026 and seller considered that as shipment. I received it in my mail box and there is no room for 16 packs of coffee in my mail box. Seller refuses to check the weight of the shipment which clearly shows the short shipment. Of course Ebay does not have a customer service process or the desire to resolve this problem.

The seller stated that they didn't receive it and eBay suspended my account. Upon looking at the tracking #, I noticed that the ps5 is on the way, scheduled to be delivered on Friday. That's fine but it's the fact that they changed it to that model to save money. I sent a 3-pound lamp through eBay. The buyer didn't like it, so I refunded her and had to eat the $13 in fees. A week later, they email me saying the 3-pound lamp that their AI software chose, by the way, was really 25 pounds, and they took $90 OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT! I spoke to 5 different agents, and they made ME DO A DISPUTE WITH USPS! I didn't mess up. This should have been through eBay and USPS. I was done with my part! I've also contacted a lawyer.

Beware - Ebay's Buyer Protection Money Back Guarantee is not absolute; and if you make a very simple mistake, you will never get your money back. In one of their disclosures, you are suppose to know (and gee, doesn't everyone?) that if you at any point open a dispute case with your credit card company while ebay is investigating a claim, ebay will close your claim and refuse to ever re-open it; and yes, it is right there in the (very lengthy) disclosure - you all know the one - the one that is pages and pages long and no one ever takes the time to read.

I was scammed by a seller - not a small purchase - about $126. Before I purchased, I did my due diligence as I always do; I checked their feedback, 100%. I check their sales; over a hundred of them. Nothing smelled funny. The price was a good price, lower than I had ever seen, but not SO much lower that it set off alarm bells. I had ordered two sets of flatware at $60 a piece; about the lowest I had ever seen them was $80. So yes, a deal for sure, but nothing to indicate a sure fire scam. Also, it had 3 day shipping. Sounded good so I went for it.

I had been a customer for 23 years - little did I know it would be the last purchase on ebay I would ever make. The next day I checked to see if the tracking number had been provided - which it has not but that's not uncommon. However, I happened to notice that now it said the seller was away until Dec 18th. For reference, this was Nov 18 (2025). Also the 'expected by' date had been changed to Dec 18th as well. I then noticed that while the item location was allegedly in the US, the seller's location on their profile was Israel. Now I smelled something funny. I contacted ebay immediately to tell them I suspected fraud and explained everything to them. Naturally, their representative gave the generic canned response which was 'well wait and see if it arrives by the original due date and if not let us know'. So I waited.

In the meantime, I revisited the seller's profile - which now was no longer 100%, and when I read the reviews there were several negatives complaints about people not getting their item. I was very confused - how could this have changed so much in only a few days? So the day finally came when I could actually contact ebay again and open a case; but when I logged in I see something telling me my package was delivered, and not only that, delivered the VERY SAME DAY that I contacted ebay for the first time! I pulled up the proof of delivery which said 'Delivered - Inside Dental, Riverview'. I do live in Riverview - I don't live or get packages at a dental office, and it surely had not come to my door.

A case was opened with ebay, but I could sense by talking to the rep that this was going to be an uphill battle because, well, it says it was delivered. You see, so long as ebay has a proof of delivery, its system is going to keep kicking it back to you. Every time their little automated system contacted the seller, the seller would just respond with the 'proof of delivery' and this satisfies their system.

When I saw this was going to be an endless game of tag, I contacted Discover (my credit card) and explained to them the whole mess. I wanted them to know what was happening. And I never asked Discover to open a case - the Discover rep asked ME if I wanted to open a case to which I agreed. This was the kiss of death, because (unbeknownst to me) ebay would close my case with ebay and refuse to reopen it (per their policy which is, ummmm, 'widely known', sure) and ebay would simply provide Discover with the bogus 'proof of delivery' so that Discover would side with them.

Here is the most delicious part of all this - I finally did find out from ebay that they did in fact find upon their investigation that I was scammed, they are fully aware of it - but because I opened a case with my financial institution, it doesn't matter because now they are no longer LEGALLY bound to protect my purchase. No matter that they should WANT to do so as it is the moral and ethical thing to do; nope - even though they know it was fraud, I am penalized because I opened a case with Discover.

Believe me people, Ebay does not care a thing about you. Now, for those still wanting to know how this actually happened in the first place - and yes I did find out how because it is actually a known scam, and it has to do with recycled tracking numbers; and how ebay perpetuates it! When a seller sells an item, they can choose to enter a tracking number manually. Somehow or another (all I know is there are ways) the scammer looks for a (currently) valid tracking number for an item that is in route to your zip code. Once they have it, they simply enter that tracking number into ebay's system. All of a sudden, ebay is tracking someone else's package to your zip, but it has no idea it isn't actually yours! In fact, I finally got a live person on the phone from UPS who verified that my package never came to my place (duh).

But here's the runaround - they will NOT give you this in writing - which Discover required in order to refuse Ebay. It's the perfect catch 22 - none of the companies want to be liable and so they protect their own arses, however it is Ebay that bears the lion's share of culpability here. And they will protect you.... um except, unless you don't read their 12 pages of disclosure and try to be proactive and alert your financial institution. That's a no no - and all of a sudden it becomes, we don't care, we don't have to anymore, because you violated our terms of service (whether intentionally or unintentionally).

So there you have it folks. 23 years and 650-ish transactions on ebay; but it will only take 1 to be your last if you wind up in a situation where ebay says - gotcha! And they do not care if you leave - you are considered an acceptable loss. So if you think loyalty or number of transactions, or your 100% feedback counts - think again. Oh, and by the way, last time I checked, the scammers feedback was back at 100% and ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS WERE GONE! Now, who do you think did that? I'll give you a guess, and it's 4 letters.
