If things go wrong, eBay will side with the seller over the buyer. After being screwed several time, I finally left after buying clothes for my granddaughter when the seller did not like the amount I bid and lied and stated that the clothing was stained by her daughter and refunded my money. The following day, she re-sold the clothing and eBay sided with her! Do NOT do business with eBay!!!

I purchased two mechanical keyboards from extrememicro. The keyboards were Ajazz Geek AK33 Backlit USB Wired PC Gaming Mechanical Keyboard Black Switch. I got a white one and a back one. Well it wasn't completely my intentions, but I bid on two, to ensure I would win at least one, but won both. Now that is fine and it's not part of my complaint against eBay. My complaint is that you have only a small window of opportunity to leave feedback for the item received.

For example, any keyboard should last you, at least, 8 months to a year. Well both of these keyboards are currently not working, not at all. They were ordered March 24, and took over a month to arrive, as they were coming directly from China. It's now July 3rd. But the worst part about this, is I can't go to eBay and leave this keyboard a bad review, because it's already past the time I can leave one. I have given eBay feedback about this problem in the past, but obviously they don't think it's necessary to change their policy on this. I don't recommend purchasing any electronic or mechanical items from eBay unless you are very familiar with the product or the company or individual selling them. Otherwise you're most likely to find yourself in a similar situation.

Purchased a pair of shoes that were advertised as a bigger size than the pair I was sent and quite obviously didn't fit. Contacted seller who refused refund unless I pay return postage and a "20% restocking fee". With postage and that fee, I would be paying almost the amount I would for the shoes and getting nothing for it. The seller removed the sizing chart from the item description shortly after I raised the issue, but I managed to get a screenshot of it beforehand. Contacted eBay who said the seller is not allowed to charge a restocking fee and that I was entitled to a full refund with the seller paying for postage since it was their fault they falsely advertised the item. Well that all sounded great but unlucky for me, I wasn't aware of the hidden clause in eBay's so called "buyer protection - 30 day money back guarantee" that if I happen to submit a dispute via PayPal, I am no longer entitled to the eBay buyer protection.

I mistakenly thought eBay and PayPal were the same company and that it didn't matter which way I did it. But turns out this is not one silly, little mistake. eBay and PayPal are now separate companies and if you happen to speak to PayPal about a transaction gone wrong, eBay will turn their back on you and rescind any buyer rights you had, had you not have spoken to PayPal. This sounds so ridiculous as I'm writing it that I can barely wrap my head around the sheer lunacy of this rule. What's worse is that this happens to be a hidden clause in eBay's terms and conditions that is not disclosed to buyers at any time, nor are buyers asked to accept or agree to such terms.

It would be so simple to just click a single button and cancel the PayPal claim (which apparently guarantees nothing as far as eBay buyers getting the short end of the stick goes) and then click another button on eBay's site instead. But no, you've already clicked this other button, so you can no longer click our button which will get you the immediate help that you need with this. Because you've clicked the bad button, we at eBay no longer acknowledge you as a buyer at our site or give you the same rights other buyers have. This is dishonest, downright fraudulent business practice and I will never be shopping with eBay again.

I order a shack mount connected to a pop filter about a week ago. Everything looked fine. Shipping said delivered, the money was removed from my account, but the thing is I never received the item. I went to the post office. They said the mailman couldn't find the address and the item was returned to the shipper. Contacted the shipper several times asking for a refund. Never received it. I was even denied by eBay! I have paperwork saying it was returned to the shipper and everything, still no refund. eBay is a ultimate rip off. Unless you like losing money, don't use eBay.

I opened my eBay account when they first became a "thing". I have sold and purchased over 200 items, but haven't sold recently. I tried to sell an item this week. It took me 8 phone calls, with 8 different answers given, to get this transaction completed. It wouldn't let me list. I was told that my selling limit was zero, then told that it wasn't. Every person at eBay that I spoke with had a different answer. I also have had PayPal since that started too. I have sold items upwards of $800.00. This week, I sold an item, and they have placed a "hold" on my funds, with no warning, and not until after the transaction, and an email that said "ship now". I offered free shipping, and planned on using proceeds of the sale to ship the item. The "link" that might explain why my funds were held doesn't work, and there was NO warning that MY money would be delayed. I wouldn't have sold in a 1 day auction if I didn't need the money.

I was advised that in order not to have funds held, you must sell 25 items in 90 days to release the money hold. So basically, you have to be a "store". eBay used to be a place to sell things you no longer wanted or needed. Now it is basically a platform for e-commerce for businesses, and clearly this is who they want as customers. I am doubting that I will ever list an item for sale there again. I am out my money until they feel like releasing it, and have cost me financially, as this item was being sold because I needed the money right away. If you are going to have policies, eBay, make sure that they are accessible and clearly spelled out BEFORE you allow someone to list an item for sale. EIGHT people in "customer service" that I spoke with, not ONE mentioned this, and the links that state "where is my money", or "why is PayPal holding my money", do not work. Awful.

We were cheated twice and I am sure hundreds of others being cheated by this company every day. Last week we ordered ID card printing trays. On receipt we found the quality is hopeless. We logged a complaint immediately for pick and refund. Unfortunately, eBay does not have option of RETURN on their action button which all other companies have. After two hours seller called us and said "Sir, these are good trays and please use them. They are imported and I can't do anything."

We called eBay and the arrogant person on the other side said "Please read our guarantee conditions, we do not take back products on quality issue." eBay earlier supplied us four AA size Ni Mh rechargeable batteries. We found they are dead and cannot be charged. We complained to eBay. The reply was same. I have lost Rs 1455 to this cheating by eBay. This company should not harm other companies. Because if someone buys first time from eBay, he will think all companies are like eBay.

This issue is over customer loyalty not $. I am an established 14-year seller with 100% rating, not one complaint. eBay sided with the customer with little research and provided no support to the seller around my own complaint and did not even acknowledge my appeal. It is impossible to get anything done on the website as it is a vicious loop. I even contacted them by phone and they were unsupportive. The Customer was rude, negative, angry and lied about the product I sent.

eBay paid the customer a full refund without my permission and charged me for overnight shipping of product back to me based on eBay decision with no proof of accusations. I did not authorize return of this product to me. eBay did, MY LISTING CLEARLY STATED NO RETURNS. Buyer provided no proof disc was missing, she stated discs were "all" scratched, cover torn: This is simply not true. I counted discs before they were wrapped twenty in box. eBay sided with customer and obviously did not read all the correspondence between the two of us. eBay provides no protection to sellers. Buyer said she took a video opening the package. She did not provide video, unless she opened the package at P.O. tampering could happen.

Customers opinion of very good is different from the sellers. SOME had minor scratches. Set is old, viewed 2x some never. All discs worked beautifully. USED product sold for $30.00, 25% of original cost. Customer email stated "wanted as gift" cover torn in 4 places. Photo used on eBay is of actual box, no tears visible actual box. No inquiries prior to purchase. I believe she wanted a near new or new product and because it is used lied about all the discs being there.

First email from buyer, demanding. Continued with personal attacks, accused me of yelling re: for not obtaining insurance stating that wouldn't cover scratching or tearing. Accused me of not caring and telling her it was her problem and also accused me of being condescending. Had emails been reviewed by eBay conclusion would have shown my truthfulness and her lying. I basically told her my ad stated there was no return on this product. I filed a complaint with eBay about her stalking and harassing me and eBay did not acknowledge my concern with this buyer or acknowledge my appeal after their decision.

6/21 spoke to Diane @ eBay CS at **. Diane stated decision based because no photo of all 20 discs and their condition. Buyer could have requested more photos before purchase.I asked in my appeal for them to Please provide proof which led to the decision in favor of the buyer. If they had provided this information and evidence of missing damaged discs I would not be writing this or filing complaint with BBB.

I was on both PayPal and eBay's customer service lines, being passed back and forth trying to speak to a supervisor for over an hour. There was some type of imaginary hold on my account, preventing me from receiving my money and neither of the companies would own up to the hold placed on my account. BUYER BEWARE: Purchased a replacement truck grill 14 months ago from the eBay seller Larry ** (fordtruckgrill) #**, the chrome has started to peel/flake off. I contacted the seller, sent him pics and he immediately accused me of peeling off the chrome and refused any contact info of the manufacturer or any suggestions of a resolution. Since my previous grill lasted approximately 13 years, I feel it is possible this may be a product defect and is a big cost to me since the cost with shipping was over $200.00. eBay does not allow any alerts against a seller if it has been a significant time since purchase therefore any product deficiencies can never be reported if they occur at a later date.

Appears eBay protects the seller at the expense of all buyers since buyers cannot do a review on the seller at a later date and eBay has no "problem resolutions" for any product failures or defects if it is not identified within their time frames. So BUYER BEWARE. Even with a highly rated seller you may be getting inaccurate ratings on that seller from eBay simply by them preventing the buyer from reporting poor seller resolutions, delayed product defects and/or product deficiencies to alert future buyers.

Sellers on eBay have found all the loopholes! And, buyers are having their pockets picked in the process. Sure, it's a seller's market because they know it best; it's how they make money, so they (or at least the entrepreneurial ones) have figured out how the technology works, and some have learned to game the system in the process. Take Fiscloset, an international seller on eBay. We won't bore you with the details, but suffice to say, a non-eBay venue is the only place we get to let anyone know that we had a bad experience with Fiscloset, because Fiscloset figured out how to work the eBay system so that we would never be allowed to complain about them, or present our side of the case, or even leave feedback!

Sound bitter? You're darned right we are. Yes, it was only $30, of which half was shipping, for an item that weighed a few ounces at best. And, by, international seller, we mean Canada. Not that Canada doesn't count, it does, and very much so whenever one of its sellers finds a way to work around the laws and procedures we here in America have fought so hard to protect; and that includes even our right to complain about some things as mundane (and let's face it, not very important in the scheme of things) as excessive shipping charges, damaged items, rude emails, and downright sneaky phone calls and yes, even, dare we say it, lies made to unsuspecting eBay agents, who take the call, and the bait, and press the buttons the sellers lead them over to because these are the buttons (as such sellers have learned) that will effectively silence their critics.

Want to make a return? System says "sorry, no returns for you" (because seller told the eBay agent that the item indeed was as described and just had a few wrinkles which, c'mon, is to be expected when shipping silk! Agent doesn't have time to realize that buyer has not had a chance to present their side yet and, anyway, how can seller possibly know for certain the condition of an item that arrived at someone else's home... thousands of miles away?).

Want to leave feedback? No feedback for you! Seller has once again managed to steer the Nice Agent into the bad zone; because Seller convinced the first agent to close the case before we could even present our side, upload our MANY pics, etc, seller is somehow able to effectively convince the next agent that we shouldn't be allowed to leave feedback that says we had a bad experience here, the item wasn't as described, etc. because, hey, after all, we did "lose" the case. Never mind that there are about a zillion reasons why both buyers and sellers lose their cases, other than because eg the other party did everything right and was just wonderful and is not deserving of any negative feedback here.

Um, many times, folks lose a case because they didn't respond in 48 hours... because eg they didn't have time that week to log on to eBay as soon as they got home (from eg that multi-million dollar deal closing or, from bringing their kid back from the hospital) and spend half an hour uploading pics and writing the facts down about the smelly, damp, full of holes brand new dress they just opened up after they paid some stranger $20 bucks for it (and just about another as much in shipping charges, which, again, you can never complain about now that Seller has gamed the system).

But we digress--we promised we wouldn't bore you with the details. But, we can't help it: it's a place to vent, and we want to be able to at least let someone know our side. Sure, it's only $30 or $40 bucks. But that isn't an inconsequential amount of ** when you consider just opening up the car window, pulling two fresh 20s out of your wallet (ok, who carries cash anymore? But, we can imagine, a back in the day example...), and just tossing those twenties out the window. Suddenly, $40 bucks seems a bit more meaningful in that context. And,that is precisely the context here; we've effectively just thrown $40 out the window, so, yeah, we want to ** about it for a second. And, we want to explain what happened, because in our case, it's more like someone reached in the car, grabbed the $40 from our paw, and bolted... after they bound and gagged us so we wouldn't tell anyone.

Well, this is America! And we have the right, literally, to tell whomever we want. As long as we are honest and we essentially don't scream "fire" in a public theatre (Clearly, the rules are a bit more complicated than that, to say the least, but this is the relevant gist)... then, we have every right to shout from the rooftops, eg "Hey, America, Fiscloset on Ebay was a brutal experience for us: the item arrived a mess; the seller was rude and impatient; and somehow the seller conned eBay into silencing us (by convincing them somehow into closing the case before we could even respond or present our pics)!" And somehow they also conned eBay into removing our (actually quite polite and subtle, considering the truth about what actually happened and how we really feel about it) feedback; which effectively precludes us from ever leaving feedback on this item because of how eBay's technology works.

And, this is neither slanderous nor libelous, regardless the medium I choose to express our opinions in. And that's just it: This IS America, this is our opinion, and we are darn well entitled, literally, to it. And, the other beautiful thing about this amazing country, is our undeniable right to express this opinion in about a zillion places or than eBay, and your undeniable right to leave if you don't like it. Buh-bye. PS: We had a horrible experience when we purchased from Fiscloset on eBay and we would say to anyone who asks, "Buyer beware If you're even thinking about buying from Fiscloset on eBay." God Bless America!

They allow buyers to manipulate sellers. They are the only corporation in America that I know of that expect you to sell an item to a buyer the buyer make up false accusations and they expect you to let the buyer keep the item while you give them a complete refund of shipping and item price. They say "we are here to protect you" till it happens to you over and over. I know it is a choice to sell on eBay but with all their new policies changing all the time. They have you by the neck in some cases or you pay a fee to quit selling with them. What an awful trading place anymore. Unless you are the one doing the screwing it has turned into a terrible option online. Maybe if more businesses and people would see this the Monopoly would be over. The service is terrible and we as Americans have to stand up and start boycotting eBay. eBay used to be a family friendly community and was a great ecommerce site that was fair for both sellers and buyers. Our company has been in business 47 years and have an excellent reputation in the community. eBay is absolutely went downhill. Our orders are down 60% and eBay has made selling on eBay a nightmare. As of August 1st we are closing our two eBay stores and will never buy anything off of eBay until they bring our customer service jobs back to the USA. We have moved to Amazon and also sell on Bonanza. We have power as a people and please join the boycott.

I have had mixed experiences with eBay over the years. Some are excellent and some are only so so. I also had a few negative experiences with certain sellers. I would recommend that you only buy NEW WITH TAG items and spend a bit more, after all, you really get what you pay for for the most cases if not all. Be cautious when the sellers are selling NEW items without TAGS - some of these items might have been bought long ago and they are old new items in my opinion. Ask questions before you make any purchase and make sure the seller provide refund service.

I filed a counter dispute and eBay closed it without even contacting me first. I opened another dispute. eBay then said I never returned the money and closed it again. We mailed the phone. Then the person in India SAYS he did not receive it. We called Ebay AGAIN and again they assured us with the tracking number proof we are protected. LIE. They Ebay, with NO proof on the buyer's part, no police report, nothing, took his word for it, and TOOK over $450.00 US out of our account including the shipping fees WE PAID as India is not on their mailing label list as I mentioned, and even returned that to the buyer in India, who, for all I know, is using the phone as I write, laughing at us.

To add insult to injury Ebay is charging us FEES for a phone they are alluding we did not mail! We called complaining and needless to say, got nowhere and were treated like we were fools or liars, and they HUNG UP ON US! SELLERS BEWARE. Read the thousands of fine printed words designed to confuse you into thinking you are protected as a seller by EBAY. THEY DON'T AND YOU AREN'T. We who have sold many items on Ebay with no problems are not believed while someone in India who has purchased very little is believed with NO PROOF and we are out the phone, the postage fees and Ebay FEES!

I was even blocked by Ebay when I tried to write a complaint online. No foul language, no lies, only provable FACTS. FREEDOM OF SPEECH ANYONE? I AM TREATED LIKE A CRIMINAL. It is so frustrating and upsetting to be cheated this way. All this transpired on May 15, 2016. Copy of emails and tracking numbers are available and our calls were recorded by Ebay as further proof if they have not deleted them as they have everything else regarding this matter.

I bought some furniture off eBay, whilst the furniture was ok the service was a nightmare from Hangandsnooze. The company Hangandsnooze made multiple changes to the delivery times and didn't bother to contact me about the changes leaving me to find out when l rang them to see what was happening. Whilst their female customer advisors tried to be helpful their male customer advisors were arrogant and patronizing. Then in an effort to cover up their incompetence they sent me an email telling me they had attempted to deliver the furniture but l was out. However the time they said they called, l was in all the afternoon and there was no attempt to deliver at all. I eventually l got the furniture and the actual item was ok.

I did not give any feedback for this company on eBay and definitely wouldn't have given good feedback re the service, if l had. I was then gobsmacked to read today that feedback has been written about this company, claiming it's my feedback to the effect l said 'good communication and great to do business with'. My experience was the opposite and would have written so if given the opportunity. During the lead up to the actual delivery and many let downs by this company l threatened to leave unfavourable feedback on eBay. It would appear that companies can get eBay to create false feedback if they suspect a customer is about to leave negative comments! So folks don't believe the feedback left on eBay, because l can assure you it is not all from the customer.

I tried to change the fake feedback but the site blocked me from doing so. I attempted to contact customer service but went round in circles with the person dealing with my call making little purposeful attempt to try and be helpful. After 5 minutes l ended the call unresolved and decided to write this feedback instead. I know l 100% the feedback posted in my name wasn't my feedback and will stop ordering through eBay from here onwards.

I've paid for a product that I'll probably never see and eBay has the nerve to tell me there is nothing they can do about it. I went to purchase a WiFi adapter from eBay. When I made the purchase, an error message came up that it would not accept my credit card info. As I had a commitment to buy, I contacted customer service to have them remove the commitment without me getting a mark against me on my account. They told me the problem was with the seller and how they had their receiving of payment setup. I was told they would contact the seller and get them to correct it and they cancelled my order. I also sent an email to the seller and explained to them the issue. I received a response from the seller that they accept credit cards but not PayPal.

Thinking the problem was solved, I again attempted to purchase the adapter but with a different card. I received the same error message on my visa card. I thought the sale would not happen so I bought a different adapter from Amazon.com. The next day I reviewed my credit card transactions and saw that my card was charged for the adapter on eBay. I attempted to contact the seller to confirm the order and got no reply. I then contacted eBay to have them resolve the issue. I told them it was not showing up on their site for the purchase but that the money was taken from my visa card. They told me that there was really nothing they could do because it was a merchant account and they couldn't track those as easy as PayPal. I was shocked because the entire foundation of their business is based on trust in transactions. They set themselves as a mediator between seller and buyer and promise fair and safe transactions.

Now they have the audacity to say they can do nothing. I explained all of that to the customer service agent and he agreed that those accounts were problems because of their loss of control in the transaction. I asked him why they continued with a practice of allowing these accounts that cause problems and violate their promise of trusting them to ensure transactions are good. He agreed it should be changed, but that I was still out of luck.

So now eBay is condoning sellers ripping people off of their money on eBay's site. I had to tell him that there were things they could do such as pressure the seller or terminate their account. He agreed they could and said he would send an email to the seller to "ask about it" but that there were no promises of resolution or an answer from the seller. I once again pointed out their business model of trust in transactions and how all of this violated it. I then told them to delete my account and that I would never buy or sell with them again. So now I've paid for a product that I'll probably never see and eBay has the nerve to tell me there is nothing they can do about it. All of this is because eBay doesn't really care what happens as long as they get their percentages. It is very unethical and totally wrong.

I purchase an item on eBay, shortly after I discovered the seller had provided my information to Walmart, shipped me the merchandise, and then charged me double the actual cost. I had questions about my return and the process by which resellers are charging customers double the price for items – I told them I felt like this is a form of fraud. The woman was great and told me she would take care of things and send me a shipping label for the return. She specifically said not to send back to the seller and should send to eBay with the provided shipping label. When I never received it, I called back. After two weeks of being on hold, taking time out of my work day and them claiming to "review calls" they established that they did drop the ball on follow through but denied I was ever given instructions about the return. I have lost all faith in their credibility and willingness to stand behind their services.

I was excited to find formula I had been ordering at $200-$300/month, but they have permanently lost me as a customer based on this experience. They obviously don't keep their word, don't follow through with customers, and don't actually support the money back guarantee. I can't afford the time away from work in order to follow up with calls and continue to fight about what to do. You failed eBay, and I will make sure I let everyone on social media know. As a 100 percent positive seller/buyer myself, I no longer believe in eBay ratings. I don't agree with their right to retrieve a negative feedback after it has been posted. I ordered a 12-volt battery from an eBay seller. Within one hour I noticed that the address change never took and the product was being shipped to the wrong address. I tried to contact the seller and correct the address but he never responded. I waited until Monday and tried again still no response. The following day I checked the tracking number to see if the battery was shipped and it was not. Again I tried to contact the seller but he did not respond.

I then made inquiries with USPS and they told me that the item would have to be returned to the seller as unable to deliver. I then followed the tracking until it was returned. I then made another attempt to contact them but again no response from the seller. I waited another 2 days and tried to contact them again but no response. So I gave them a negative feedback and opened a case with eBay. Within 12 hours eBay responded in favor of the seller, closed my case, and removed the negative feedback. I tried to reason with eBay but they refused to look into it anymore. I told eBay that I want either the battery or a refund and they refused both as did the seller. So where is the protection that eBay claims to provide and where do they get off removing a completely legitimate negative feedback.

Ebay doesn't have a good business model to meet the consumer's need. Here are the reasons: Ebay's customer service and resolution center employees are lack of competent, knowledge, analytical skills, professional care, due diligence, and have no clues how to handle/solve problems. Here is a scenario of an existing problem: when a buyer makes an accusation about a product; logically, that individual needs to have a proof or some types of evidence to support the accusation.

Based on the scenario above, Ebay's model of solving problems between buyers and sellers are as follows: By not requiring evidence from buyer, ignoring the facts, information, and other relevant details that relates to the accusation, Ebay creates unfair treatment and bias against the seller. Doing business with Ebay is unpleasant and costly for seller's business. Given Ebay employees lack of competence, professional care and due diligence, it's very difficult to communicate with and receive fair treatment. Conclusion: From the Consumers point of views, we always have better choices in life to choose from. Please seriously stay away from EBAY.

Don't sell on eBay. Here's why! I recently sold an item to a buyer whom won the auction, but later complained the item was not as described in the auction ad. Instead of dealing directly with the seller (me) and asking for a refund to return the item, immediately the buyer officially complained to eBay and gave me bad feedback.

To understand this situation in further detail, the item in question was a hair growth product in the pill form. Retail prices for which I paid for directly from the supplier of the product were exponentially higher than my asking price, granting a deal for anyone whom won the auction. The buyer in question won the items for a considerably lower price. All bottles clearly shown in the pictures with the exception of one were sealed and new to which I explained on the ad.

Later in the week after the auction I noticed a complaint filed from the buyer to eBay, and eBay deciding on behalf of the buyer before I could respond. With this knowledge I decided to warrant the buyer a refund regardless of the negative feedback and false accusation of the purchased pills and return the items in question.

A month later there was still no returned product and after several filings on my own to eBay. Even to this day after three months of the event in question there is still no product returned even after I refunded the buyer. There was no response from eBay updating me on the subject. I was just flat out ignored. I decided to end my relationship with eBay (which by the way was spotless with zero prior complaints of service before this event). I have recently recommended to anyone that you should research eBay through these review portals. You will be surprised by the lack of customer service, and poor ratings by people just like me who were victimized by the countless spammers whom take advantage of eBay's poorly constructed policies.

For your information, to end your account you have to call a customer service number that is almost entirely impossible to find. When you do they will fight you to stay regardless if they're unwillingness to correct the potential countless dollars they negligently costed you. Yes, eBay is very convenient to sell your unwanted items but bear in mind the newer tech that is coming into market with much better policies that protect the seller and buyer from this situation. Thanks for reading.

I have been a seller on eBay for years. Recently I listed an item as Buy It Now. The item sold, and I received an email from eBay notifying me of the sale and asking me to print a shipping label. I did so and sent out the item. After 2 days passed, I received an email from eBay notifying me that the buyer had not paid for the item. I was confused as to how a buyer could "buy it now" without having paid for it. Turns out that buried deep within the app, when a seller is listing an item, one must click through 2 layers of options on the accepted payment methods and UNCHECKED the box which requires immediate payment.

This means that the default setting for sellers is to allow buyers to trick you into shipping them goods which are not paid for. The default setting should be exactly the opposite; in a Buy It Now format, immediate payment should be required unless the seller chooses otherwise. This format that eBay has set up specifically allows for sellers to be scammed out of their goods. One would think that eBay had an ethical obligation to protect its users, buyers and sellers alike. This practice shows flagrant disregard for protecting sellers.

Buyer purchased a mobility scooter from me on 3/15/2016. On 3/28/2015 the buyer requested to return the item stating that the scooter was unsafe to use as it turned over when being driven up a ramp. We had a technician reach out to the buyer and it was confirmed that the scooter was being used by someone above the weight capacity and the ramp was steeper than was safety tested. The buyer still claimed that the item was damaged. We asked for photos, and all he showed was a photo of a knob that was slightly chipped, which looked like something he damaged on his own. We offered to replace the part that he was showing as damaged but he refused. He claimed that the scooter was unbalanced, but refused to show photo or video proof.

On 4/23/2016 eBay escalated the case and forced me to send a return shipping label at my expense, although it was clear that this was a case of buyer's remorse and misuse of an item. I sent the label on 4/26/2016. eBay policy clearly states that a buyer has 10 days to send back an item from whenever they get the return label. On 5/7/2016, I got an email from eBay letting me know that as the return period expired, this case was now closed and "NO FURTHER ACTION WAS REQUIRED" from me. The buyer went ahead and sent back the unit, on that same day 5/7/2016, after the case was closed, on the 11th day after he got the label.

On 5/28/2016 eBay stole $2049 out of my PayPal account and refunded it to the buyer, even though he returned the unit past the 10-day timeframe. The email they sent me stated that they were waiting for me to refund the buyer, and as I hadn't done it, they forced the refund. That was after I got an email from eBay on 5/7/2016 stating that no further action was required on my part! I called in to eBay and spoke to Holton from the leadership team who was most rude and disrespectful! He threatened to bang down on me a few times during the conversation, and refused to answer my questions. It is obvious that the 10-day timeframe was missed, as the automated system eBay has in place closed the case on 5/7/2016. The system does not allow cases to be closed until AFTER 10 full days, and closes cases that time out on the 11th day.

The eBay reps I spoke to regarding this case could not give me a proper explanation as to why the case would be closed if the timeframe was not up. That is because there is no such thing! The timeframe had expired and therefore the buyer was no longer eligible to send the item back for a refund. Taking money out of my account to refund the buyer is stealing, practicing double standards, and completely unethical!

First of all, I'm not an occasional seller on eBay. I've been selling on eBay since early 1998 and have sold more than 20,000 items for well over $1 Million. I have over 8,000 positive feedback comments - proving that most buyers won't bother with it. Admittedly, I don't get a lot of returns but recently the type of return has changed. I spoke to eBay about my feelings, telling them that the new, at the time, process encouraged buyers to file not-as-described complaints but they said, "Oh, no. You're going to find that this just isn't going to happen." So, then, I sell a nice guitar and amplifier set for a bargain price of $349. The guitar retailed for $720 and the amp retailed for $179. (Please let me point out that I've been shipping guitars all over the world for 27 years. I know how to package guitars and amps.)

About 3 weeks later, I'm surprised to receive a not-as-described return request. Buyer says there is a fret buzz, the neck is Maple, not Mahogany and there are not-mentioned finish blemishes on the side of the neck. So, knowing, I'm likely to lose if I contest the request anyway, I authorize the return. The guitar arrives. I pull it out of the outer carton and see that the guitar was properly repackaged, which is highly unusual. You wouldn't believe how some of these get returned.

I inspected and reviewed the guitar and reported the following to eBay: I found no fret buzz. I even lowered the string height on the guitar and it still didn't buzz. I noted that since the neck was a painted neck, the buyer was not likely to be able to tell whether the neck was Maple or Mahogany but attached the manufacturer's stat brochure in which they indicate that the neck is Mahogany. But, there was clear evidence that the guitar had been dropped. The impact created a flat dent in the top edge of the headstock and the stress of the impact created cracks along the side of the neck. I sent numerous photos of all of this to eBay. I spoke with the guy who does repair for me and he agreed that my photos were convincing. There was not doubt in his mind that this buyer dropped the guitar himself.

eBay denies my case and I phone them. There was a lot of the scripted reply at the beginning but as I continued to argue - and I made every effort to be polite - I was finally interrupted. The eBay customer service representative said, "Sir, you must understand, you haven't proven that these issues didn't exist before shipment was made." I said, "What?! There are photos of the headstock and the neck in my listing. In those photos, there is no headstock damage and there are no cracks. Do you realize that you are, basically, calling me a liar and perhaps a thief, too?"

She ignored my statement and question and just repeated that I had to provide proof, that I should take many more pictures including photos of the guitars just before and as they were being placed into the carton and pointed out that the buyer can claim not-as-described even though he may not know what he's talking about. She finalized with the comment that I still did have the right to add the buyer to my do not sell list. At that point I had about 450 items listed. I now have 254 and it falls every week. I can only think, and this echos what other sellers seem to be saying, that eBay is so focused on the bottom line that good sellers and good buyers simply must be sacrificed for whatever fraction of a percentage point they are gaining.

I notice that Wall Street, and the Wall Street journal, thinks eBay is doing a great job. Unless something appears to begin to turn eBay around, I expect to be "a former eBay seller" by the end of the year. It's bad enough that I have to put up with the constantly changing processes that make me have to spend huge amounts of time changing listings that were set up and complied with previous guidelines and to watch for the little glitches that pop up with every upgrade (The latest: the PayPal address at which a buyer is to submit payment has disappeared from every expired listing. Unless I remember to retype it into that box, my buyer will be unable to pay!) but to be insulted needlessly is the last straw. I'm outta here (eBay)! As I said, I've packaged a lot of guitars and unless UPS backs over one with its truck, it ain't gonna break!

Just an FYI you may as well accept returns. They will yank your money anyway without a recourse if you do not. And to think you... you pay for this privilege. EBay needs to remember who made them and who pays the bills. WE are their product! More about that later. Let me start by saying I have been selling on eBay for 13 years. Not my first rodeo folks.

My latest problem: I called eBay about a return I was accepting to make sure I was doing the right thing (They claimed the item was defective). I sold an antique brooch. Brooch mechanisms were different then than now. I tried to explain this to eBay and wanted to make sure this was not going to count as a defect in my Top Rated Seller performance. I have another brooch very similar from the same estate to prove my point. Apparently by calling them to check on the return process I yes I... escalated the return??? I already agreed to the return, why escalate it?

LIE #1: They assured me this return would not affect my defect rating. Lie, lie, lie. LIE #2: I should not have to pay for the return. LIE #3: I can appeal this decision AFTER it is closed. Lesson: You can not appeal a case YOU escalate. Come to find out I am paying $300-$1000 a month for the privilege of being treated like this. I have let a lot roll off my back through the years but this is too much. I have listened and watched friends and colleagues alike quit selling on eBay over the years. I stuck it out all the while watching eBay whittle away at sellers rights and recourse.

Last year: I sold a $4000 piece of high end jewelry. 3 months later, after the holidays, the buyer wanted to return the item. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Well guess what folks, you guessed it - PayPal without notification yanked money out of my account! The item was returned absolutely filthy from obvious use and they had the nerve to say the item was fake. After months of fighting this the police got involved and did what eBay and PayPal were unwilling to do. They agreed with me the lady was lying and found in my favor! Lesson to all, if you pay with a credit card you can claim anything is fake and reverse the charges. eBay and PayPal claim a return policy... but it is a MYTH. They just got tired of paying the credit card companies and are now making the sellers pay.

New policy that requires a 30 day Warranty. As a long time seller (16 years) this is a issue for me. My product could be used as a 30-day rental and returned and I get no money and have to pay all shipping. How is this fair for me as a seller. If I do not offer the 30-Day warranty, I will no longer get any of the power sellers benefits. EBay does everything for the buyer but never creates policies to protect the seller!!!

I have been a Ebay member for over 13 years now. I will have to say I have been very lucky with most of my dealings with their sellers. But now I have a issue and have found that Ebay is not a company I want to do business with any longer. On May 11 2016 my wife received some small succulents plants through the mail for her birthday. Our son who lives in China had sent them to her. After reading to learn about the care of these plants we went to the Ebay Website and ordered a planter from a seller. Like my others Ebay purchases everything went as promised. The next day May 12 2016 we went back to the Ebay Website looking for a certain kind of potting soil because it was not available locally. Having found the Gritty Mix Potting Soil on the Ebay Website it was being offered by a seller with 100% feedback record and over 2,000 sales so I felt good about ordering from them.

On May 12th we ordered and paid for the potting soil along with $18.90 for 3 day shipping. Per the seller's notes in the ad they normally ship within 2 business days. The product should have been delivered May 17 thru the 20th. On May 19th I received an email saying the product had shipped and gave us a tracking number. At this point they were still saying delivered May 17 thru the 20th but we knew that it would be later than that. We checked the tracking number and found the item had not yet been given to USPS but only a tracking number had been made by the seller. We checked the tracking number several times a day for a couple of days and found the exact same information that USPS had not yet received the product to ship. By this time my wife's plants were starting to need planted or they were going to die.

So we were forced to buy potting soil locally even though it was not the kind we were wanting. I then entered a poor rating for the seller. Then on May 23rd at 3:42 pm the seller gave the product to USPS for shipment but only after I had opened a case with Ebay (per Ebay process) asking for a refund as I no longer needed the product. The seller said he would refund only the product amount if I paid to return the product. To me this was unacceptable as the late delivery issue was his own doing.

The following is quotes are from the seller during my refund request. "Your box was picked up Saturday. I had a perfect storm of issues including supplies being delayed in delivery to me and a back injury that prevented me from completing my orders. I assure you that it has already been picked up and on its way to you. I apologize for the lengthy delay and my lack of communication." "I can understand your frustration. Truly I can. I am sorry that I did not follow through on a timely manner on my end. I honestly don't know what to offer you at this point. It is no longer in my possession. It was picked up Saturday. I'm sure it didn't get into the system until today. It is showing that it is moving and on the way. I can no longer get it back. It has been shipped. The only thing I can do is refund you the price of the mix once it is returned to me. That is all I can do."

Both of those quotes were made by the seller on Monday May 23rd right after my 12:57 pm refund inquiry for a refund. Funny a couple hours later USPS tracking numbers now shows they have the product to ship. By the seller's own confession they dropped the ball, not to mention lying about when they gave product to USPS for shipment. It was not on Saturday as they said but the on the following Monday the 23rd per the tracking number they provided. Then Thursday May 26th the package was delivered and the seller contacted Ebay with that information and Ebay closed my case without any questions being asked. Then they went 1 step further and removed the negative feedback I had left for them.

My feedback read as follows, "Very very poor service paid extra for fast shipping and still don't have product." This was entered on Monday May 23rd and Ebay has now removed it. I now see why they have a 100% positive feedback rating. What does Ebay mean when they tell me "the buyer" I qualify for an "Ebay money back guarantee"? Not only have they let me down they refused my right to freedom of speech by removing the feedback I had left. By them removing feedback makes them lying to everyone that deals with them.

A seller claimed to be located in the USA (IL) but the item shipped from China. I opened a case the moment I found out where they were shipping it from and eBay ruled against me just today...even though the seller violated the eBay policy of misrepresentation...and even went so far as to remove the feedback I left trying to warn others of this deceptive practice. I say a class action may be needed to litigate because clearly eBay is complicit. If there are any lawyers out there that would care to take on the case, on their dime, I'd be more than willing to be party to that case.

In the same vein of Chinese sellers misrepresenting as USA sellers, last night I asked about a half dozen US eBay sellers if the small engine carb they're selling can have the linkage re-clocked (re-positioned) so I could use it...and this morning I received several replies that made it clear to me that English wasn't their first language. eBay must stop condoning that deceptive practice but it seems the only way that's going to be possible would be to sue 'em and put a dent in their bottom line.

eBay has been in this trend for years. eBay does not have or sell a product. They make money on the products of others. As with any company that gets larger, they have forgotten who have made their growth possible. If you wanted to start a new e-commerce or auction site would you offer no seller protection and make it easier than easy for buyers to steal from sellers? No of course not. Your site would never get off the ground. But eBay has reverted to just that. They no longer care about, and actively abuse the ones who 100% make their business. Case in point: I sell computers and computer parts on eBay. 100% positive feedback and a top rated seller. Sold a motherboard a while ago to a man. The motherboard was listed as fitting 1 make and 1 model of computer only. I do that to limit people ordering the incorrect item due to a confusing listing.

If you don't own the exact make and model computer I say in my listing then don't order the item. It won't fit. LOL. After the item shipped the guy messaged me saying he had ordered the wrong part and wanted the order canceled. OK. Unlikely but possible. I informed him the item had already shipped and it could not be canceled. I inform him that he can ship the item back and receive a full refund. I usually charge a %20 restock fee for returns but I can lower it to 10% for him if he does not open the box and ships it right back. This was to limit the chance of damage to the item or other complications with the return. Man indicated after going back and forth a few time if we could get the price of the item down a bit more, he would keep it. I asked "I thought it was the wrong item." He said it was but "he could probably make it fit." LOL. Anyone who knows computers knows that is ridiculous. If it's the wrong motherboard then it's the wrong motherboard.

This guy found a better price elsewhere or something and was trying to con me into lowering the price of mine. Anyway...he finally got the item in the mail. A few days later I messaged him to see where the return was. He opened a case in eBay requesting a full refund and paid return shipping due to the item being damaged. He gave a long list of broken and missing components on the motherboard that simply were lies. As of September eBay has removed all seller protections. eBay closed the case half in my favor due to his initial comments of wanting the sale canceled. He had to ship the item back at his own expense. When I received the item it had been destroyed. Multiple components had been removed and broken. The item was unusable. I called eBay and after several transfers I was informed there was simply no seller protection.

Just to make perfectly sure I asked the eBay supervisor "So you're telling me that if I as a top rated and power seller, sell a laptop to a customer and they say it's broken and refuse to send pictures of the damage, a return will be approved. Then if I get the package in the mail and it's got a bunch of horseshoes inside I'm just screwed?!" Supervisor: "Yes unfortunately at this time there is no seller protection. You have to just factor that into your business model." LOL. Factor in eBay ripping me off into my business model!? Unreal. Well eBay has a great business model. They tell us to factor in losses they generate into our business model and they factor into their business model profits that our losses generate! Well, if that's part of the eBay business model then it must not be unethical right!?

I mean, a business built on the backs of certain people simply cannot treat those same people in an unfair, unjust, and unethical way right? I'm sure eBay would agree that it treats its sellers very well and values them highly if asked. In that case I must be in the wrong. I must have my view of right and wrong, ethical and unethical all mixed up! In that case I guess I have to try to recoup these losses. It's just business after all. No right or wrong. Ya know... I've been shipping around for a nice new cell phone, or maybe a sound bar for my TV. I really don't want to pay much. Actually I'd like to pay nothing at all for it. And I do have a bunch of horseshoes lying around collecting dust. Think I'll hit up horseshoeseBay and see how cheap I can get a phone. Pretty sure I can get one for right around $0.00.

E-Bay makes a big deal (a big text deal) about fraud on the part of buyers wanting to pay with other than approved methods, the seller not accepting overpayment and then sending a refund to the buyer, etc etc. Many places on the website about reporting fraudulent buyers, and then sending you through the labyrinth to get to the actual Customer Service who you can call or e-mail, but you always reach a dead end. You never get that Customer Service phone # or place to e-mail because you get kicked back into the maze where you will never get it, no matter how many different choices you get offered. None of them is ever the right one.

If they are really sincere about cracking down on fraudulent buyers why isn't it possible to file a complaint until the transaction is completed and you've been screwed over? I got this offer from a buyer to buy my wedding dress for 4 times the amount I was asking, and of course if it sounds too good to be true, it is. He wanted to send me a check, then wait for the bank to clear the check and he would send someone to pick it up??? He couldn't use PayPal because of the kind of business he was in (money laundering?) and didn't have time to communicate via E-Bay messages, wanted me to text him at a phone # he gave. And all of this was in fractured English.

I copied the message and the item # on the top. Entered the item # in the box where it was required, and got the message that that item # was cancelled or didn't exist or something, and again got bounced out from the "Call us" box. I went at this labyrinth for about 2 hours. Gosh, E-Bay, I can understand why you don't want to hire enough EXPENSIVE foreign Customer Service agents to take care of customers. It might make a small impact on your huge profits.

EBAY restricted my seller privileges out of the blue for the second time. Back in 2015 I had no restrictions, a good rating, been a member for over 7 years. An "associate" of mine had problems, and because they were able to tie me to that "associate", I was restricted. After the first restriction, I patiently built up my good rating, and called to have it raised. The EBAY rep stated I was doing well and doubled it. I had even better seller experience and thought I could call again to raise it more. EBAY struck a second time this year, and lowered the seller cap to almost nothing. I called EBAY (on hold for 45 minutes) to find out why they reversed themselves and were punishing me again for good seller behavior. I got the "script" from the EBAY rep (decision made by the "backroom"), but decided to problem solve. What would it take to raise my selling limit? I learned that EBAY will not allow the "associate" to ever cancel their account - so I am stuck in a Catch 22.

Having proved myself once, I had no idea I would be set back completely AGAIN. In this scenario, it is impossible to trust EBAY when they can strike at any moment. Certainly, running an EBAY business is a highly risky proposition. I need to find a website that rewards good sellers, and works with their customers, not manipulates them. I am diligent, honest, work with my customers - but it seems EBAY has attracted sellers who have no regard for courtesy, nor transacts with integrity.

The "Associate Rule" sends the wrong message to sellers who follow the rules. EBAY has difficulty differentiating the good sellers from the bad, so we can AT ANY MOMENT suffer for someone else's actions. I thought I could recover from this latest setback, but I am convinced EBAY has changed, and can never be trusted. I was also a buyer (in excess of $1,000 per year) - but now I will buy from AMAZON. So now I will put a permanent restriction on EBAY when it comes to buying from them. It works both ways.

I sell vintage mid-century pieces (1950s to 1970s). Having acquired a mid-century table to sell, I jumped on eBay to search for comparable items so I could determine a fair asking price. One of the first items to come up was Scandinavian Retro Coffee Table Danish Furniture Shabby Chic Mid Century Wooden. The item is BRAND NEW, not mid-century, not retro, not Danish, not Scandinavian, not Shabby Chic. Most likely from India or China. The photo does not look real, looks CGI and there is a camera symbol on the bottom right hand corner. Furthermore, the item specifics which are meant to be provided for new items such as MPN and UPC are marked "Does not Apply".

I dutifully raised this with eBay as this practice is deceptive to buyers and undermines genuine sellers. The eBay adviser could not tell me whether or not this was acceptable. They advised they would be referring the matter to their Policies Team and it would be resolved within 48 hours. One week later and I have not heard back from eBay and the listing is still there as bold and deceptive as ever.

No Returns. Sold As-Is." When the buyer received it, it supposedly didn't work. He immediately asks for a refund. And guess what? A week later, eBay steals my money and gives it to him. Now I'm out $12 to ship an item to a crook and there is nothing that I can do. Looks like eBay hasn't changed a bit over the years. I'll just stick to Craigslist.

I've noticed my last few sales buyers try to scam me as a seller and eBay does not really offer sellers protection or follow their policies. I sold an IPhone 6 that I bought new for $650 & I used about 8 month. I sold it & buyer received the item and left positive feedback so I thought great.

Well 16 days later he requests a refund saying "phone does hold a charge or fully charge". I had pics I took showing the phone fully charged, provided him proof the phone was insured the whole time I owned it & was still under warranty an additional 8 days when he had it (as phone insurance cancels on billing cycle with carrier), and I insured the shipping as well. Ebay still has the issue open after I was assured it would close after 30 days if buyer didn't dispute further which he hasn't and eBay has a hold on the funds in my paypal account. Sold 4/3 and still open 5/21. Where is my protection? Beware of eBay, they don't follow their own policies and while this is still pending they took their $34 listing fee of course. I will close my account permanently as soon as this closes if it ever does. Beware sellers. It's not worth the hassle.

In the month of June 2015 I have put on sale one Apple watch 42mm Space Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet, item number: 321797226019. The item was bought three times in a row by scam people so I have canceled the transaction every single time. I would like to mention that the item was returned on 09.07.2015 in an Apple store. I can provide the return receipt if needed. On 30st of June in the invoice: ** I was invoiced for 176.14$ without actually selling any item. My eBay account is in GBP, but I was invoiced in US dollars. I have called the customer services to inform that I haven't sold the item and I was promised I will not be charged.

On 8th of July 2015 the invoice was deducted from my credit card in value of 118.18. I have called the customer services number: 08003586551 more than 10 times to ask for a refund. They don't even bother to keep a track of the customers' complaints. I have received the refund eventually after more than 2 weeks but less money than the ones deducted. I have received only 109.17. I can provide credit card statements proving it. I have called to make a complaint about this and I haven't received any answer. I believe the customer service representative didn't even register the complaint. On 6th of December I have sent a complaint letter. I have waited around three weeks and I didn't get any response.

I have send a e-mail complaint as well on 28 of December. After two weeks I have got the following e-mail: "Dumitru I have had a look at the selling fees invoice on your account and I can see you have changed your billing currency from the original in US Dollars now to GB Pounds so your invoices will be in GB Pounds in future. As US Dollars was the original currency for your old invoices the final value fee you were charged when your item ended with a winning buyer was charged in US Dollars. The fee you were charged was $176.14 and this is the amount in US Dollars that was charged for your June invoice to your credit card. Once you had completed the cancel transaction case for the item number: 321794941540 the credit of $176.14 was added to your invoice and then refunded in US Dollars to the Credit Card."

I would like to mention that my account was updated to GBP currency with a couple of months before the invoice. And secondly, that was a mischarge from the beginning so I was expecting to receive all my money back (that were taken from my account). After I got the e-mail I have called the customer service again and manage to speak to a manager, Mark **. After he analyzed the complaint he told me that he can give me 30 (by waiving 30 from my account). He told me that he can waive only the outstanding balance. Because I had only 10 outstanding in my account I ask him if it is possible to receive the 30 pounds credit at the end of January after I make more sales.

He agreed and promise me to give me a call at the end of the month and allocate me the credit. I have waited until 30st of January and no one called. I have send an e-mail regarding my refund and I have called the customer service as well. When I asked them to speak with Mark **, the manager who dealt with my complaint they didn't find any record about my case and about the agreed compensation?! I am really pissed off about eBay. I have wasted more than 10 hours on the phone plus a couple of hours writing e-mails. And the worst thing, when I have tried to complain to ombudsmen services they told me that they don't deal with eBay?!

I REALLY DON'T want them go away with this. I am thinking to sue them (I have a degree in law) and to go in civil court with them. It isn't so hard, but doing all the work only for my case doesn't worth the effort. SO, anyone who has a case against eBay, with proofs (invoices, e-mails, list of phonecalls) and doesn't want them go away with it, is invited to drop me an e-mail with the case at: **. I would like to mention. In case we sue them, we can ask compensation for all the time wasted on the phone, writing emails and the charges encountered from their fault. Smiley Happy.

The eBay buyers guarantee states that the seller is responsible for return shipping costs if the item is not as described.

I have noticed an undeniable downhill spiral this year when it comes to eBay seller support. Today, I lost a case that never even showed up in my email, or the resolution center. When I called, I didn't expect them to do anything for me, but I had to try, as not even being able to make a case, or simply refund the buyer if indeed the problem was my fault, is certainly unfair. But, as expected, they say with their robot demeanor, "sorry, we can't do anything for you". So, now, on top of losing every request that we have fought this year, and after losing every request to have unfair feedbacks removed (buyers, 100% of which have 100% feedback scores, and don't even try to make contact with us when USPS fails to deliver). Now there are requests being opened against sellers that they never even get to see.

Feebay also has started to remove multi variation ads, presumably so they can charge more fees by making sellers pay for each variation line in the future. The fees just keep growing. I'm not going to re-establish ads that they remove unjustly, instead I am moving the ads over to other e-commerce sites. They have also closed many of our ads because we don't have mpn's or upc numbers... for home-made items!

Well, ok, off to Etsy we have gone with that merchandise. We have made over 20,000 sales now on Feebay, and their appreciation is non existent. Rather, they are just trying to figure out ways daily to suck more blood from sellers, and this is not the end of that trend, it is in full swing and gathering momentum. The only people that can change this robbery and contempt are existing sellers, and potential new sellers. If you are a seller, start downsizing as you enter new markets, and limit your exposure to this seller bully site.

If you are a potential seller looking for a selling vector, I implore you, rethink. Yes, eBay is one of the busiest e-commerce sites, but that will change. They are making sure of it through some incomprehensible economic suicide maneuvers. The other sites are slower, yes, but the headaches with eBay are endless, particularly if you are as busy as we are. It becomes time consuming just trying to protect YOUR hard earned assets. EBay does not care about your efforts. You must understand that crucial aspect of your business expansion decisions. Their words say they care. Their actions are repulsive.

Here are some sites to consider. They all have their ups and downs, but many are better. I think Etsy, if you have homemade items or crafts, is going to be a big winner in the coming years. Other sites: Ebid, Bonanza, Ecrater, Webstore, Shopify, Amazon. Please heed my warning. EBay is toxic for sellers. You will have monstrous headaches. You will run in place. In the long run, you will die younger from stress, or quickly peak in growth due to Feebay's seller inundating policies. We were selling 450 items at the beginning of the year on eBay. Now we have 420 something. And again, the only time the ads are being shut down is when eBay changes a policy and shuts an ad down, or they unjustly decided a case in a buyers favor, in which case, we shut the ad down. We are sick of it, and acting accordingly. You have been warned!

Many months ago I purchased an item ** from User ID bryk1979 Ed **. After the close of the auction I promptly paid for the item. Shortly thereafter I receive an e-mail from the buyer telling me he was cancelling the transaction as he did not want to sell to me. He then went on to make nasty comments about me and my selling site. My transactions on eBay are well over 4,000 while his are around 1.300. I left feedback based on the transaction which was as honest as could be. Shortly thereafter he leaves me negative feedback under a positive rating as that was the only way he could. I contact eBay to have it removed and they remove the feedback I left for him instead of the feedback he left for me. I contact them again and they finally realize that I am the one who has been left negative comments and they finally corrected it.

A month or so goes by and this buyer BYRK1979 creates another User ID under the name of gosnell79 and makes a small purchase from me for the intent of leaving negative feedback. I contact eBay and they in fact confirm that this user Ed ** created from the same IP address two user ID's. My concern was that he did so to leave negative feedback at my 100% rating for the past 13 years. That is exactly what he did. Now meanwhile eBay never took any action or closed his second User ID Gosnell79 which they clearly knew violated their policy of multiple accounts under the same name. Now he leaves me negative feedback. I contact eBay and they tell me they can remove the comment however not the strike. They state that simply removing the comment is enough and that the strike will not affect my rating with eBay.

The strike shows an issue to my buyers who I have worked hard to keep a 100% rating over the years. Again this morning this Ed ** leaves yet another negative comment of which I again contact eBay and they remove. The moral of the story is that the policies of eBay are in fact a JOKE!!! They knew two months ago confirmed by them this user had created another user ID and did nothing to deactivate the account. I spend upwards of $7,000.00 a year in fees with eBay and they have just shown me that they could care less about creating a safe place to conduct business and just about the money!!!

On 17 April I got a confirmation message about shipping of product by DTDC courier. When I didn't get product till 23 I tried to contact these people. Perhaps they might have some confusion or something mess.", but as I was already reached on the heights of irritation & frustration from these people, as I opened the packet I found it is looking like Fake product & when I tried to using it, the product was also not working, showing a message "need to format this device" but system was unable to format this drive.

They people have so worst services that you'll need to hold their calls for 30 minutes & after that your call will be disconnected automatically. I have decided to teach them a lesson. They have hidden fees like FINAL VALUE FEE ON SHIPPING if you buy from them, after they offer you a shipping discount. Immediately after hitting submit, both the shipping address and registration changed to an address that we have not lived at on the other side of the continent for 5 years. [I later discovered this is a KNOWN glitch involving PayPal going on for YEARS that Ebay & PayPal have done their darndest to cover up/ignore]. We immediately contacted Ebay, and the Seller. The Seller said we were out of luck.

After spending around 9 hours on the phone (not exaggerating), being passed from one CSR to another, hung up on, etc, Ebay said it was the Seller's fault and to wait a month and to call them back if the money was not refunded by the seller, even though we told Ebay it was due to a glitch that we had Screen Captures of. We contacted Ebay as requested a month later, and Ebay responded saying that we had waited too long, and closed the case. We have had problems with Amazon & products not arriving, but they never gave us the runaround like this. Regardless, we are done doing purchases online. Btw, do a Search Engine on the cost of Torah Scrolls, they're not cheap. We lost a fortune.

I do not see a point in eBay having the feedback system if they delete feedback left for sellers! There are times when sellers sell items that are not as described or never ship the items paid for... Therefore, buyers have a right to leave negative feedback regarding this. However, sellers call eBay and ask them to remove that negative feedback and the eBay reps comply! How pathetic and ridiculous. In addition, eBay reps also have access to buyer and seller messages, which defeats the concept of having privacy. For this reason I hardly use the messaging system since eBay reps have access to it and read messages whenever they want! Whatever happened to privacy? EBay constantly deletes feedback left and gives users no privacy. What a joke!

I called the library and confirmed they own it and it was checked out and due in a few days and they wanted it returned to them. I entered a complaint with EBay that the product was likely not owned by the seller, and emailed the seller the phone number and catalogue numbers so they could verify ownership. The seller responded that I was wrong, that the book had been entered for sale 10 months earlier (which was only a few months after the book was published), without any indication they cared if an error had been made in their right to sell this book.

After my complaint was filed, the seller misrepresented my concern in all subsequent emails available to EBay, and EBay did not provide a way in their on-line complaint system for me to answer the seller's mischaracterization of my concern. All I wanted was to alert EBay for a need to review this particular seller to be sure they have systems to assure that the items offered for sale are legally owned by the seller, and for the seller to review its systems to be sure they were not selling libraries' books. Although EBay determined that I could get a refund if I returned the book to the seller, I had already mailed it to the library that owned it.

I compared it with what I bought in the salon and realizing there was a quality problem I wanted to return it. The seller said no because I had opened it. This made no sense because that was the only way to know they had sent me an inferior product. eBay declined my return because they said the product was as described. Granted it looked the same until I opened it and used it. It was either fake, watered down or very old. Just warning others not to believe their money back guarantee because it is a lie.

In the meantime, eBay closed the guy's account because it was discovered that he was selling products to people that he never had to ship. Of course I filed a complaint to get a refund, but eBay denied my claim saying that their records showed that the item had been shipped and received. I had the proof of delivery from UPS so I told the lady, "Yes, he shipped something that weighed less than a pound (dehumidifier weighs 20 pounds) to an address about 15 miles away."

I was really shocked that they didn't just give me a refund... eBay KNEW this seller was a fraud!! They made me go all through the appeals process. If I hadn't already looked into it myself, then I probably would NOT have gotten my money back, but UPS has the POD on file and it's NOT for a dehumidifier and it wasn't shipped to my address. I feel like the folks at eBay were just looking for any way that they could deny my claim but since I had all the proof, the lady says, "Well, I guess we could give you a courtesy refund." Bottom line: don't shop at eBay! It's too easy for criminals to set up accounts and sell products they don't even have to sell. Apparently, thieves have gotten so sophisticated that they now have discovered ways to getting a proof of delivery. This really should be investigated much more extensively.

The seller, Minh ** (probably not his real name) had enough sense to ship something (it weighed just over half a pound) to a nearby address. I called the business located at the address on the proof of delivery and the phone just rings and rings and no one answers. It's some of kind of PCS-something in Lewisville, TX. Anyway, I would be very cautious about buying from eBay now since thieves have figured out how to conduct fraudulent business activities on the site and get away with it. I tried to add photocopies of the POD and receipt but this site says it does not allow .docx format attachments.

Yesterday I placed a bid of $180 on an item, which sold to another party for $168, because eBay "randomized" my password without notice. This happened, with more notice, and without so much harm, just two weeks ago, but without so much harm. In each case, eBay claimed that they had evidence that someone besides me had attempted to access my account, and in each case, eBay forced me to change my password. On the surface, that seems reasonable enough, but my experience was NOT reasonable.

Let me focus on the most recent occurrence, where I lost an auction I very much wanted to win. I was using Bidnapper, and realizing I had not received notice that I had won the auction, checked bidnapper, and discovered a "password" notice in red. I suspected what that meant, due to my experience of 2 week previous, and called eBay CS.

EBay CS told me what I expected they would, that they had evidence that someone other than Me had tried to access my account, and that they wanted me to change my password, again, which I did. I complained that I had lost an auction because of this, and asked what they could do about that (I assumed not much, but thought I would ask anyway, because by rights I felt I should have won the auction). They said they could not help, because they had notified me by email earlier in the day that my password had been randomized. I accepted that and let it go. However, checking, I discovered that whereas the auction lost due to their randomization ended at 16:32:12 (4:23:12PM), I didn't receive notice from eBay that my password had been randomized until 5:39PM! So in fact, I had NOT been notified by eBay of their randomization until much too late to rescue my bid.

Furthermore, during my conversation with this first CS rep, it became apparent (because I asked) that their only evidence that someone other than me was trying to access my account was that someone had accessed it from a different device than the one I usually use! Well, I have 3 devices of my own, one or 2 of which I use most, and a 3rd which I have not used for a long time. Was the suspicious attempt to access my account actually ME? I think that is probably the case! I usually use my iPad these days, but I may have used my iPhone or iPad once or twice recently, which could be the source of the whole problem. Last I knew, there was no prohibition against accessing eBay from any device whatsoever, in fact, that is one of the great advantages of the internet, that it can be accessed from anywhere! It seems that eBay is engage in extremely disruptive behavior, based upon no legitimate evidence whatsoever.

Well, armed with my new information, I contacted eBay CS Again. This time I asked 2 questions, 1) can they assure me that they will a) not randomize my password based only on me accessing my account from a different device, and b) not do so without a significant amount of ADVANCE notice, and 2) reinstate my bid on the auction that was lost, because of the password randomization I did not receive advance notice of.

I made my requests in a very clear and civil manner. I admitted that my second request was perhaps quite irregular, but that the whole problem was eBay's fault - that it could certainly declare that an error had been made, contact the parties involved, and make a correction, if they chose to, and that in any case, if anyone should lose out in this case, it should be the party that would have lost out anyway, had things gone as they should have gone, not the one who should have won the auction, if eBay had done what they said they did and should have done.

The CS rep I spoke to was most reasonable sounding. He said that he understood what I was asking, and thought it was reasonable, and that he would look into it and try to accomplish what I was asking, and that he would get back to me by email in about 15 minutes. By this time it was quite late at night (after midnight where I was, though likely not quite so late where he was - India I am guessing), so I let it go at that. So guess what? You guessed it! He never got back to me! Obviously, as time passes, the seller will ship the item (very likely she has shipped by now), and recovery from this SNAFU becomes ever more difficult. Obviously, I am being lied to and getting jerked around. EBay is a giant corporation. Their Outsourced CS reps are on salary, at low wages. They can afford to jerk me around much longer than I can afford to pursue the issue!

Needless to say, I have nothing good to say about eBay at this point. Part of me loves it, because it is so useful, and part of me HATES it, because it is so arbitrary and frequently, outrageous in its treatment of its customers. If another online auction company came along, as viable as eBay, I would jump ship in a heartbeat. Beware. EBay will treat you, its customer, like a commodity. It will act with incompetence against you, and then it will mistreat you, cheat you and lie to you, and NOT treat you fairly.

However, seller refused to refund and escalated the case, which to my surprise I lost. The reason that I cannot get a refund is, as eBay said, I have it tested using acid which exposed the copper so the original color of the silver necklace is changed at a small spot. Without metal testing, buyers don't know a jewelry is fake, which will be their lose. After testing, the conditions of the jewelry will be changed if it is fake, which will also be buyers' lose. How ridiculous!

EBay makes money on the seller, not really buyer and via PayPal since its own by eBay. I called many times and customer service says no, no, no. What's going, I did nothing wrong, all I did was to go to their website and print the shipping label, pay for shipping and send the shoes. EBay has my tracking number saying the item was delivered and their sellers' protection is not true. It's fraud, they can do pretty much whatever they feel like it.

eBay is a company that has really lost the general focus on business. I have been a seller for over 2 years and I have realized I can no longer do business with them. From the below standard in customer service to the complete lack of making it right. Their guidelines are very unforgiving and any time a buyer is presented with an issue, eBay will not take into account your great history of doing business. I fell below their 2% seller's performance because of 2 items that I posted, I no longer had stock of. To make the customer happy, I refunded them in full and also provided them an alternative item of their choice for FREE. Also, a separate transaction where I offering a customer an additional item in which they agreed to purchase as well. Rather than pay 2 PayPal transaction fees, I canceled the order and invoices them for both of the items on a new order.

These 3 "defects" as they call them hurt my performance. Not only did me falling below the seller performance delay my PayPal funds from being readily available, they also dropped my selling limits from 750 per month to 165. Almost 80% of my allowed posts. Considering I pay for 200 a month, they wouldn't even reimburse me the difference. This income allows me to have some extra money to spend on eBay and now it has been taken away. eBay should be ashamed of their customer service representatives for not making their customer (me) happy and also for displaying poor judgement and business ethics.

And what if it sells but buyer doesn't pay. That should be covered as well same as a scammer no?" They say no. So now what if I don't put a reserve price and it sells for way under. Do I have to still sell? Yes. Where is the seller protection??? How come the seller has no rights? So if it's a buyer that doesn't buy I pay if it sells for under what I will accept I pay. I contacted the seller and they ignored me and I complained to eBay and was told they couldn't do nothing but I should leave a feedback on my experience. I left a negative feedback on the seller and they appealed it on eBay's Net Neutral which settles feedback disputes and their decision is final. They ruled in my favor against the seller and my negative feedback was reinstated and the buyer was going to pay the estimate to repair the car to get the feedback removed, when they got with eBay to come up with a eBay policy violation against me and I was not told of what violation I violated and they hurried to remove my feedback after 2 days of Net Neutral's final decision.

I contacted eBay 4 times. You only get people overseas not in the States and they agreed with me after reading all emails and sent 4 complaints and 1 policy violation for me against the seller back to eBay and I never heard from eBay on this matter. eBay would not investigate before they removed my feedback. So I was stuck paying too much for a wrecked car and the repair bill that followed because of eBay. They went against their own feedback policy to keep a seller and lose a buyer of eBay since 2002. I have documents, emails and pictures to back up my complaint and eBay does this to keep the seller at 100% feedback to keep selling to unsuspecting buyers. This seller has bad reviews on BBB and Google from buying on eBay, some worse than mine. I closed my eBay account and now will buy from Amazon and other online sites other than eBay.

I shipped it out for free, $40 cost on my end. On the last day of his 14 day return period he emails me saying the machine is really slow and wants to return it. I explained my return and refund policy (that on non-defective items he must send the item back at his expense and I do not refund what I paid to ship the item out).

A few days later he opens a case saying the item is defective, to which I responded to. I also called eBay and they said that if it comes back and is not defective that they will make sure I am not out the shipping fees. Buyer then escalates case and eBay awards in buyers favor. Ebay sends them a return label at my cost, another $40, and computer comes back into my shop. Fully tested, works perfectly, burn-in test passes 100%, there are zero issues with this computer. It was just too slow for the buyer. Called eBay, let them know, sent them links to the video I made of the machine running and passing all tests, no luck - sided with buyer and would not help me in the least. I asked for top level manager, got him, same line. The last thing I could do was to write a letter to eBay's legal counsel which I did, not anticipating any other outcome.

My Macbook is different brand and since it will not be fit for my Macbook I raised complaint and contacted customer care (Ebay's customer care email is not provided, probably reason best known to Ebay unlike other online shopping eg Amazon where customer can write problem through email directly and the latter takes great care of customer and resolves issue in reasonable time frame). This customer also lodged complaint 2 days ago via phone call.

Today received a phone call from customer care person who tried to ask lots of question as I was crossing the busy traffic (could not answer to volley of questions raised by customer care personnel and asked him to call back later). To my surprise I find the customer care person has cancelled ebay guarantee claim without taking attempt to know what is the cause of my complaint and without sufficiently verifying the same, this is not expected from an international shopping platform like Ebay. This amounts not only to monopoly but harassing to customer.

I feel cheated and frustrated, eBay also probably only company who does not provide email to customer to write clearly and completely detail of problem faced.

I would wait for an amicable settlement of the issue and get refund. Ebay cannot reject ebay guarantee without giving sufficient time to customer to explain why the claim for refund is made. Today when I tried to customer care at 7.25 pm I got automated response that office of customer care closes at 7.30 so no response will be there (though there was still time left for office closing time). I called to confirm my understanding and was told that the buyer would return the item and then I would refund the return shipping.

eBay has come up with many varied excuses as to why they did not follow their own dispute policy. I requested a picture of the damage and never got one. The buyer still has my item. I have repeatedly stated that I want my item back, but to no avail. The buyer is a scammer. eBay does not follow their policies. Their policy, to which there was a link in the email from eBay, stated that items damaged in shipping do not qualify for return shipping paid by seller. eBay conveniently gets around this by pointing to their refund policy which says anything damaged in shipping does qualify for return shipping by the seller. I'm an American collector of 30+ years experience who sold fine estate jewelry and antiques on Ebay for 5 years. Today I ended what was left of my listings and within 30 days I'll be gone from Ebay. Due to what I have learned from firsthand experience on as a seller on Ebay I will never, ever, under any circumstances - EVER use Ebay again as a buyer or seller. I'll admit I did not "investigate" Ebay enough before I chose them as a seller. I, like million of people, assumed the organization to be ethical and operating within legal parameters. There are laws in the USA which are designed to protect unsuspecting consumers from fraud.

What Ebay is doing now to save and expand their financial bottom line in the highly competitive e-commerce world has blurred the boundary between poor business judgment and crossed over into full knowing complicity with criminal activity online coming from the very large numbers of thieves, scam artists, con artists and scam buying teams which now troll the site continuously, looking for their next victims.

In September of 2015 I became one of those next victims as an Ebay seller. The warning signs had been there. Earlier lesser issues with buyers had ALL been ruled in favor of the buyer, no matter how inane or false their claims were for opening cases. I already suspected by 2015 that any notions I had as an Ebay seller that I had any rights or legal protections were naive'.

I'm writing this review primarily to warn other 'would-be' small & mid-size sellers of unique antique collectibles, rare jewelry, and vintage items what they can expect to experience from Ebay staff and management when confronting the literal sea of financial crime, fraud, extortion, and more that is now taking place ROUTINELY on Ebay as part of their ongoing policy that their 'buyers must be pleased at all costs'. The case that destroyed my own Ebay trade, built painstakingly over 5 years, contains so much documentation it would most likely overwhelm the reader to examine it all.

I am building a blog which will fully document how Ebay [whether by sheer incompetence or intent] colluded with a husband /wife scam buying team “briananddorree” [who have now disappeared from Ebay] over several weeks in late 2015 to utterly destroy my seller account, ruin my Ebay seller rating and completely implode my well established vintage jewelry store on Ebay.

I worked full time from home on building my Ebay store presence for more than 4 years. My average work week was about 70-80 hours per week, twice the time that typical 'employees' spend at their jobs. I routinely traveled at least 200-300 miles a week buying from antique dealers, private collectors, art shows, jewelry shows and wholesale gem shows for my trade. The bizarre and escalating events involved in the briananddorree Ebay buyer scam case were extended over a 4 month period. The sheer scale and magnitude of Ebay staff incompetence and management recklessness I was confronted with when I tried to get help from Ebay while being extorted by Ebay buyers briananddorree completely stunned me and my business partner, who was witness to all that took place between September December of 2015.

In short, Ebay will not hesitate to assist both 'petty criminal' buyers and hardened internet thieves in their efforts to steal and extort cash from unsuspecting ethical high ranking Ebay sellers, even though it appears to fly in the face of all common sense and business acumen. I have so much documented proof I don't even know where to begin to publish it, including dozens and dozens of emails which passed between myself, these scam buyers and Ebay staff while the extortion attempt was being made. I already had a lifetime of real-world business experience when I began selling on Ebay. I would never wish upon anyone anywhere to experience something like this as an Ebay seller and I am writing this review to warn other consumers who are looking for an online venue to sell their wares and collectibles.

What's even worse is that a representative, 'Mat' told me this ordeal was in favor of the seller in the morning, since I was not given back all of the contents that I had originally shipped, then his manager Andy tells me his former representative was wrong. I've been given the runaround and no one knows what they're talking about.

I didn't make any profit at all, this site is a complete liability. Use at your own risk. Sellers feel discriminated upon, because this is how eBay works. There is no real protection for an innocent seller. Believe me, there are scammer buyers out there, making money on poor innocents like myself. Sadly I experienced this, and will learn next time not to use eBay EVER! Sellers need to come together for a class-action lawsuit against this company. Obviously their seller's contract and policy is not set in place well.

A customer purchased a "high value" item from my eBay page ($750.00 or more). It was shipped with insurance for the declared value of the purchase price. Item allegedly arrived damaged. Buyer received the item at a FedEx facility, removed it from the shipping carton and discarded the carton. He placed the large, 50 lb item in his car and drove 45 miles to his home. He removed the item from the internal packing and messaged me to inform me that the item was damaged. I apologized for the inconvenience and proceeded to submit the shipping insurance claim using the documentation/images of the damaged item provided by the buyer. Obviously, I am at the mercy of the buyer providing the required information for the claim submission, or the lack thereof in this case.

Insurance claims for shipping always require pictures of the outer package, the inner packing materials and of course the damaged item. Buyer claimed to notice slight damage to the outer shipping carton while he was at the FedEx facility where it was received, indicating that it had been dropped. However, he said nothing to facility personnel, and discarded the box and later apologized for not noting the damage while he was there (if in fact there was damage). So, no outer carton pictures were provided.

Consequently, the FedEx claim was denied for lack of evidence of a damaged shipping carton. So now, guess what? Yep! The seller has two options. Pay for the repairs to the item (which declared insurance coverage would have sufficed), or accept a return and refund the buyer for the full purchase amount, along with return shipping as per all the information above ($1100.00 USD total). Item was declared "Not As Described" as the item arrived damaged, at no fault of mine. The buyer had a fiduciary responsibility and HE failed, not me! The fault here lies on the buyer for not disclosing adequate information to produce a positive outcome to the insurance claim.

Numerous messages were sent back and forth to eBay customer service stating that the buyer's negligence to produce adequate information resulted in the insurance claim denial. I thought, "Yeah man, I got this thing beat!" NOT! I submitted two written signed statements from the postal business center on their letterhead, where the item was shipped from. One stating that the package met required specifications for shipping, the other stating basically that the buyer did everything wrong and the seller did everything right. There was absolutely no swaying the decision of customer service to rule in my favor, even when creating reasonable doubt that the item was damaged prior to receipt (during shipping) as the buyer did not report any damage to the carton to FedEx, while he was still at the facility, which he had every opportunity to do so.

The buyer failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the damage in fact did occur during shipping, hence the claim denial. I was ultimately held liable for the cost of repairs to the item which amounted to $800.00 USD. I guess I got lucky, as the buyer agreed to accept a partial refund for the cost of the repairs. The return shipping would have been $100.00 and refund of the $999.00 purchase price. Representation on the seller's side of eBay's bargaining table is non-existent in all "Request To Return" cases. The seller is always the bad guy no matter what and has absolutely no say in the ruling. NONE! ALL seller testimony was blatantly disregarded.

If a case is opened against a seller by a buyer, don't waste your time fighting it. It won't do you any good. YOU WILL NOT WIN! In a recent email I asked eBay's customer service, "You obviously have the buyer protection program. Where do your seller protections lie?" She said, "The seller protection is the shipping insurance that you purchase." Well, what good is that if the buyer doesn't provide adequate information to produce a positive outcome to a claim? And neglects to report shipping damage to a facility where he received the item? I exercised that protection.

I was told by customer service that eBay has limited resources to provide a ruling on a case and shipping insurance was not one of those resources. WHAT? Their main limited resource is their narrow little minds! As a result of this experience, I am no longer an eBay user, and neither is my wife, as she had a similar "not as described" experience. So, if you decide to become an eBay seller, this is what you can expect. Absolutely ZERO seller representation under the buyer protection program. Make your decision wisely. You have been warned!!!

Three days later I received an eBay email saying the item had been shipped. Shortly afterwards I received another email complaining about non-payment and telling me to contact the seller.

The only way to contact the seller seems to be through the eBay web page which makes it difficult to document the email trail and having done all that it rejected my message because the copy/pasted emails contained my email address. Worse, it did not allow me to go back and resubmit without completely rewriting the whole document trail it had deleted. Finally, I attempted to contact customer support on their website and it was impossible to send an email via their web page using the Chrome browser about the issue as it kept demanding a select an option from the lefthand side of the page when there were none. How is that fair when I made no profit and lost $40 in shipping costs. I called them and customer service said if I had just watched the message center in eBay and issued the buyer a refund myself they wouldn't charge this... They do not email you to tell you this. Who watches the message center on eBay? I did not even know anything was required of me. The refund I expected from an eBay seller seemed an average return for a returned item or changed my mind. However, Amazon is shipping for eBay sellers! How or why this is the shipping policy for eBay sellers, I have no explanation? As a result of this new policy of eBay sellers shipping thru Amazon, refunds from eBay will become nearly impossible since Amazon is not involved with eBay purchases! eBay customer service is probably outsourced to foreign countries. The representatives from eBay barely speak English leaving eBay buyers in the dark for solving problems with sellers or able to communicate any relevant questions or concerns!

I recently had the unfortunate experience with an eBay seller that bordered on a nightmare! Despite dozens of calls to eBay, eBay decided in the seller's favor and I was out my money! Stay away from eBay, things are not as they were in previous times. eBay buyers will have a stronger likelihood of being cheated from their refunds. Unable to refuse packages, since they are shipped thru Amazon, and meaningless customer service. Think about these problems prior to purchasing on eBay! I have and will not use eBay on regular basis anymore! I will try to avoid eBay and purchase from Amazon!

When I told this member to stop harassing me and they would be blocked to prevent any further correspondence, they then contacted eBay and filed a false Email Report against me. I have absolutely had it with being ripped off by eBay. I am tired of doing all the work and then being objected to them "stealing from me". I'm sick of spending countless amounts of time on the phone and being lied to. I'm sure that there are thousands of people ahead of me who have the same or similar stories. My only hope at this point is that I can gain some advice or the ear of an attorney or legal firm that is willing to listen. It is unreal how absolutely despicable eBay treats the very people who line their pockets.

My latest experience: I sold a vintage authentic fur coat to a woman who admittedly damaged it badly. She filed a case for a refund. She told me that because I sold her a vintage coat that apparently it was my fault because I sold her a vintage item that was listed as such and measurements were even provided. She sent me messages telling me that it was too small and she damaged it. eBay rewarded her by going into my bank account and sending her a complete refund; leaving me with a ruined coat that is seriously damaged. No one ever investigated her claim at all. I was even told that by an eBay representative.

After a ridiculous amount of messages and phone calls, I was finally told that my appeal would overturn that decision and the money would be in my account within 48 hours. It has been a week without so much as an e-mail. I am sick of the lies! Better than that, I have the coat. The woman returned it to me in a shoe box busting at the seams no less; a beautiful Red Fox fur coat!

I didn't get what was stated in the listing and now I am screwed. This email exchange on eBay says it all about how much this seller cares about eBay and the community of buyers:

"This item was not as described as the size is wrong. You refused a return and that is bad business. I sell here too and would never mislead my customer like your listing did. I will be reflecting my dissatisfaction with my feedback to let other buyers beware of your tactics. Hope you have a great day.

You know that the head size is too small for a dog with a 21" girth body. Mine is almost 21 inches and the strap won't fit her. ALSO there is no way your vest will fit over a normal size head it looks like it was made for a large squirrel and no way clasp for the head. These are misfit items and you know it. Anyway, thanks for lumping me in with the bad customers on eBay as I have 100% feedback, use my seller name to make purchases, never had a problem until now. I would not complain if it was not warranted. I guess $11.00 means more to you than good word of mouth and any customer satisfaction. I am not only leaving you honest feedback, as soon as I am able, I am blogging about this everywhere so either change your business practices or get a new account."

Although the communication was impossible with eBay, (they have stopped answering my mails!) I have a phone conversation with a customer service, some nice lady who was trying to figure out my status and in the middle of the figuring out, she told me "Oh! The seller has fully refunded you!" So I guess no thanks to eBay (or PayPal, they have not responded to me either!) but thanks to the seller I am fully refunded... So Global Suckers program 0 - Cem 1... :)

I have to say if the seller hasn't cancelled the transaction and if the mail has gotten lost somehow, I wouldn't even have a compensation for the product because eBay & PayPal doesn't allow a second dispute on the same item. Even though the first one was about 'unfair pricing' by eBay (the other dispute process from two options) and the second one was about, 'Item Not Received'... So the buyers protection program has lot's of holes in it and none of them is in the favor of buyer! Go figure.

    Original Review: March 8, 2016

I have been a buyer over 15 years... When I choose an item to buy, by entering my delivery address (zip code) the shipping and handling cost predetermined, so I exactly know how much the product will cost me in total... Therefore when I purchased these 'USED' faders (five of them) for $125.00, the shipping to Spain was $25.00. So my mistake was I made the payment without paying attention how much in PayPal page. Years of habit; Whatever I saw in eBay page as the total cost was what I end up paying in PayPal. Never a penny more! Well, when I realized actually how much I paid I was in shock!

Under the name of 'Global Shipping Program' eBay has charged me extra $72.70 for shipping a second and $42.20 for custom taxes... Now I mind you, the seller has already charged me $25.00 for shipping! Apparently (he was very helpful) when he enrolled to this GSP (I call it Global Suckers Program) the are asked to ship all their items to a warehouse, where then that warehouse ships to the final destination! The actual shipping costs $25.00 to Spain! But in the end I was charged $97.70 for shipping! Also they charged me for custom taxes! But there is no custom charge since they are 'USED' items!!! So when I realized this I wanted to stop the transaction and if possible reroute the shipping address to an US address, so that it would only cost me $25.00 for shipping as the page said and no tax BS!

Of course the only way to stop the shipping is opening a dispute in PayPal! Well that's another story, but I stopped the shipping and got in touch with eBay customer services and wrote an angry mail! The reply was apologetical and understanding. What I said seemed making some sense to them. So about three mails back and forth, they suggest what I should do and how I will be compensated in full and how the seller should relist the item without the GSP so I could get it without getting screwed! At one point one of them even said how they adored my attitude towards the seller (I was trying to protect him as well since he has done nothing wrong!). They suggested that the seller should cancel the transaction but I should not cancel my dispute! But I said my dispute is not going to hold any water because there wasn't appropriate topic selection in dropdown menu, so I've just chosen a closest one which not a proper one at all!

But they said just wait until the seller cancels it! But the seller said that because of open dispute he can not cancel the transaction (in eBay)! "No! You wait!" they said... A couple of days later still nothing has happened! So I went to PayPal to see that my dispute rejected (as I expected) and closed. But at the eBay site, the seller still couldn't cancel it because of PP! So I wrote back to eBay and the respond was shocking! They have totally changed their tune and saying that there is nothing can be done and they apologized for previous misleading three mails they have sent me...

This is the ending of the last mail: "Also, eBay and PayPal are separate companies as of last year and we no longer own PayPal. This is why once you open a case through PayPal, we are no longer able to take further action on the transaction. I APOLOGIZE for any MISINFORMATION you may have been given before. At this point, you will want to continue working with PayPal and the seller for further resolution."

This is incredible... I have all the mails that apparently was misinforming me at the time! This is really outrage! They could have stopped the shipping (which they did!) but they have stalled me and the seller with assuring me that everything is going to be fixed while they shipped the items... Oh and by the way they have changed their code in the Shipping and Handling calculation system. Now it calculates $75.70 (No sign of $25.00) but in my PayPal page I have a proof that shows that original $25.00 and the extra $75.70 that they have charged me! If you want to buy the same items now, the shipping calculation comes to $75.70! There is no sign of $25.00!!!

This is not the all of it! Items Estimated delivery is Fri, 19 Feb - Fri, 26 Feb so I want to do something right? 10 days past the due date! Wrong! Because it seems like I can not open another dispute! So they charged me an extra unfair and superfluous $103.00 but also managed to NOT deliver my package! I have all the mails that includes all the misinformation!!! I have received... I wish I could sue their asses. Also there is no such thing as Order # on eBay. There are Item #s... So I put the item number. Also I don't know how to get a receipt except the printout of the summary. If you can help me how to get one I will...

Ebay.com, from Feb 20, 2016, has changed their sellers ratings. Personally, I think it's the wrong policy; however, it's their corporation and if what they do is legal, it's their right. As a consequence of the new ratings, I went, from "top seller" (100% feedback for years, with 1206 feedback, and active on eBay since June 2008) to "below standard". I'm going to explain why I went below standard, so readers don't think I'm a crook, or not honest. The reason I went "below standard" is because, out of 237 transactions in the last 12 months, I have cancelled 7 sales, 2 of them because of a glitch in the eBay's bulk listing, for which the shipping price was marked a 1/3 of what should have been.

As I wrote above, if eBay feels better doing so, losing a seller such as myself, with great feedback, and who had been using eBay in a couple of European countries and eBay.com ("US" eBay) for years, and paying 1000s of British pounds and dollars on fees to eBay and PayPal... Well, it's their right, isn't it? What is not right, is that eBay has decided to put a limit of 355 monthly insertions in my account. My problem with this, is that I have a "Premium" store, for which I pay a $49.95 monthly fee to eBay. This type of store offers 500 free insertions every month. Now, I'm OK accepting the punishment, but eBay should surely refund me for the insertions I pay but cannot list.

Im Selling items to make them money taking all the risks with the postal service because unfortunately even with tracking some items get lost or stolen through the mail and if that happens the Buyer gets a full refund.

eBay does not care about its sellers. Anybody buying on eBay is covered by a guarantee. If you get an item and decide you don't want it or happen to break it, the buyer can "Lie" and eBay will have them return the item at the sellers expense and refund their purchase and dock the seller No questions asked. I sell just before Xmas time to make extra money for grandchildren Xmas presents. After holidays, I remove all my listings and all done with selling. Three weeks later I get email from buyer that her item arrived as old and she wants a full refund plus shipping label. I explained that all items are new and there is no returns especially so late after she received the item. I asked or prove of item being old. She send picture showing a little black spot. That didn't prove it was old, probably got package got damaged during shipping and item got dirty, but I agreed to send her a new item to replace this one.

I didn't hear anything until eBay send notice that they refunded all my money to her and they will send me a bill. No communication from eBay customer service. They took her side only. My posted ad said no returns, eBay money back guarantee only if item received not as described. Either one was correct so I feel buyer didn't qualified for refund. She chose cheaper shipping so if the package got damaged it was her responsibility to notify post office and not complain to eBay about seller.

I opened the case to return it and eBay ruled in favor of the seller and removed my negative feedback. Their feedback is such a joke. They are not serious about it. It took 9 days to ship within the United States. It was 4 days late than the listing advertising. And on the listing, the seller advertised super fast shipping. The buyer was very happy with the laptop. She emailed me on Jan 13th 2016 that "I of course received the Mac and love it. It's in great working condition! Everything was as promised". However, after more than a month, on Feb.7 2016 this buyer told me the laptop cannot start after she installed older Mac OS 6.8 operating system to the laptop, and laptop becomes overheating. She asked to return and filed an eBay case to get refund.

It is very clear that the buyer wrongly put the two conflict operating systems into the computer. Such two conflict operating system definitely made the computer overheating. Along time overheating definitely damages the laptop. I told this buyer, I can only accept the return in the original condition when she received from me. However, eBay made an extremely unexpected decision. Yesterday, Feb. 24, 2016, eBay took $1068 from my credit card without my authorization to give this buyer, and this buyer still keep the laptop I sold to her in her hand. Therefore, I lost $1068, I lost ebay seller fee $106.80, I lost paypal fee $37, I lost my laptop. I am extremely upset and angry with ebay. Such an unlawful decision violates the laws of USA. Herewith, I have to ask an attorney to file a lawsuit to against ebay. I am sincerely waiting for help to punish ebay.

I told her I needed it for a gift. eBay refunds me, I give individual bad review, then she sends the product to me... Wants money now, thru a money order only. It took her a month +3 days to get it shipped to me. What do I do? Do I really have to pay her at all? Even thinking of sending back. When ordered, I had a discount from eBay, now to pay her I won't. eBay is such a joke!! I've been warned about them, but thought I'd give it a try. They have NO customer service at all!!! Especially if you are a seller on eBay. It's total one-sided. They NEVER help the seller in any way, shape or form. If anything they are there to ** you over! I've had issues where a buyer said that my item wasn't as described then returned a different item!! After calling eBay, they did NOTHING!! All they said was, "We've made our decision and you are required to give a refund!"

Then another time a buyer had buyer's remorse and just used the "item wasn't as described" so that eBay would let them get a refund, guess what? They went in his favor too and made me refund him. Then they proceeded to remove a listing of mine and suspended my account for 3 days. The latest of my problems with their NON-EXISTENT customer service is that a buyer is using extortion in order to get his shipping refunded. We'll see what the outcome of that will be.

If I had to guess, I would say they're probably not gonna help me with that one either. It seems like the only business on eBay is being a buyer so that you can ** poor sellers out or their money and product. eBay is the poorest excuse for a business that I've ever heard of. Their policies are absurd! There's so many loopholes, and although they "say" they don't pick sides and are there to help everyone, they are not. Honestly, there isn't a reason for them to even have any employees. All they say is, "I'm sorry I can't help you."

They should just get rid of employees altogether and have an answering machine that says, "Go ** yourself" and then hangs up. That truly would be more straightforward and less of a waste of time. eBay is a waste. I really do wonder when their demise will happen and if there will ever be a credible online place where people can buy and sell items without the turmoil that eBay creates for its buyers and SPECIFICALLY their sellers!

I had put the items with a lower start less than £1 and a charge of £0.35p per item. The buyer bid on the item with these charges in BOLD, won the auction then said "I am not paying those" and accused me of sharp practice? There were no hidden charges or heavy postage. It was all clearly visible. The buyer moaned that much. I decided to cancel the sale and gave the buyer the money back (no charges ever paid). Clearly states wait for invoice before paying.

eBay have not restricted me selling permanently as I had a high fault ratio (1 customer 8 items). eBay favors all and any buyers for all and any transactions. Buyers can give negative feedback even if it is a lie and sellers cannot so to let other sellers to beware of the lies buyers make. A buyer bought sunglasses that were as described. She opened a case without messaging me and eBay opened a case, held the funds in PayPal. When I contacted her she said she was not happy with the glasses so I told her to send them back and I will refund her. She demanded I send her a return postage stamp. I told her that buyer pays and I was unaware of the new eBay scam. She informed me that she will wait till the 5th, which was when she could escalate the case. She has done this before and probably many times because she knew the routine with ease. When eBay sends you a message where seller is supposed to respond there is only a total refund or send buyer label at seller expense.

On the 5th she was issued a label and when I received the glasses she was refunded. And eBay instead of taking the funds on hold from PayPal, eBay bypassed the funds on hold in PayPal and pulled the funds from my checking account which left me a negative balance and a 35.00 overdraft charge. I have been on the phone for 2 hours trying to get both eBay and PayPal to correct this. PayPal finally understood what I had to find was their error with both eBay and PayPal. They said a letter can be sent to my bank to reverse the charge but the harm has been done to my account and distrust for the accounting practices of both eBay and PayPal. DO NOT trust eBay or PayPal. They both will steal you blind. I will be ending as a seller on eBay and not be using PayPal anymore. eBay info says it controls all international shipping through its global shipping programme. So how come, the same sized plastic spray bottle of car cleaner (best seller's price $14.00), has $4.00 shipping in one listing, and $79.95 in another listing? To the same overseas destination? That is more than 5x the price! Then I noticed that the $4 shipping was from a country outside the US (Poland, FURTHER AWAY from me than US), so not subject to the eBay global shipping programme. And I see similar outrageous shipping prices on MOST items in eBay for US and UK products.

This is an outrageous rort! Who is rorting? The shippers? eBay? Or the sellers? Since it would be hard to imagine a seller being dumb enough to price themselves off the market that way, one must assume eBay which I believe receives commission on the shipping charges, is at the very least complicit. This pricing is hurting captive sellers and buyers who seem to have no control over it but could not find any way to send a message to eBay about it. And no information on any way to get around it. I cannot begin to tell you how many times for the last few years these things have happened: Pictures from my listings get stolen by unscrupulous people looking to scam others out of money. When reported eBay never did anything because they "Couldn't tell who really took the pictures." Sounds to me like they wanted their fee without caring for someone getting scammed. Had my selling fees increased 100% with no additional added services. Had customers purchase all my items from weekly sales and then never pay for anything because they had no money. Literally, some years over $100,000 in unpaid sales.

Spent hours on the phone trying to get fees back and resolve problems for unpaid items. Had customers try to get defacto discounts for condition issues that didn't exist. Serious - blackmail type situations. It goes on. The point is that eBay is going downhill and it's only worth selling junk on there because selling valuable items is becoming riskier. eBay DOES NOTHING FOR SELLERS and DOESN'T CARE ABOUT SELLERS AT ALL. eBay also has many buyers out there that are GETTING SCREWED because eBay ALLOWS THINGS TO HAPPEN THAT THEY SHOULDN'T. Go to a real auction house to sell your stuff. There are no returns, someone does all the work for you - you just pick up the check. Believe it or not Christie's seller commission can be half that of eBay's. All true.

I have been on eBay for over 14 years. I have 100% feedback from over 900 buyers and sellers. I have a 5-star rating on every Detailed Seller Rating including: item as described, communication, shipping time, shipping & handling charges. My one neutral feedback was unjustified because I refunded the gentleman immediately, even without him returning it! I have never been late for shipping. I have never had a case closed without resolution. I have given tracking 30% of the time. It would be higher, but my main supplier does not give out tracking unless I call. I always respond back immediately to resolve issues. I always refund those who are dissatisfied immediately. I never argue with a customer and go beyond the call of duty to please the customer first, even if I know they are argumentative, lying, or hard to please. I have a mentor who is helping me with this selling process.

I placed an appeal to reinstate my account and I was rejected. It really seems like they want to get rid of the small business owners and care only for the buyers. They only gave me one month to get my defect rate down. I wish someone would take this to the national news so eBay doesn't hurt other new sellers on eBay. It is unjustified!

Long story short out of pocket (-690.00) in one day. Buyers and sellers stay clear of them crooks there in bed with all the other dishonest shmucks. Too bad great concept crooked operation. And to add insult to injury their customer service is outsourced to Asia in someone's ** hole sweat garage. You think eBay being on Wall Street can do better. Issue: I have been banned from eBay. Background: A loyal customer for many years, with valid purchases, valid sales and zero negative feedback. Last year, I received an e-mail telling me that I have been banned. I assumed it was a scam and then sometime later figured out that it was real. Tonight, after I couldn't log in to eBay motors in an attempt to sell a car, I wasted over 11 minutes of my life talking to a representative at an overseas (probably Philippines) call center in attempt to uncover the problem. Are you ready? eBay has banned me because my father & I have the same name (with exception to the suffix, i.e. Jr, III) and we both have accounts and have had accounts for several years. And that, is considered by eBay to be suspicious activity. What a slap in the face from a ghetto operation.

Buyers make false claims and get full refund and eBay makes us give full refund and lets buyers keep the product as well. When product returned, it is either their old engine or they just put something on pallet just to show tracking to eBay. Buyers extort us for giving them money in exchange for Positive Feedback. Just this week I had to pay $175 to change Negative Feedback to Positive and buyer kept the product as well because eBay did nothing and told me not to sell if not happy.

We can't even argue or fight for our right as a seller. If we do, eBay either suspends our account or somehow we get disappeared on eBay and buyers can't find us, buyers make false claims and our account gets selling limitation, last time almost 2 months and our business really suffered. We can't sell anywhere else because eBay has almost all buyers to conduct business on eBay and eBay will protect them 100%. I have lost too much money in the past 11 years because eBay allows buyers and has all the doors open for buyers to do whatever they wish to do. One of the times when I called eBay, the representative told me that buyers are important for them and sellers are basically nothing and she didn't even care if I sold or didn't on eBay.

This is all I can post my reviews and feeling about eBay. I can't fight or take eBay to court because nobody dares to fight the case and the multi-billion billion company always wins and gets richer and we (sellers) who made eBay this rich get nothing. eBay charges 8% or $250 max per transaction plus. Now they charge 8 or 9% on shipping Fees as well and PayPal takes another 3% and we are left with nothing plus eBay make us give Full refunds when a buyer opens his mouth and all expenses on seller. On some items we sell, we don't even make $ 50 profit after all Fees paid to eBay and PayPal and from that $50 profit eBay makes us pay shipping and Return fees and buyer gets his 100% and most cases they keep the product as well because we can't afford to pay the Return shipping.

We sell engines and transmission and minimum shipping we pay is around $140 and max in 48 states around $550 and eBay wants us to pay all this from that $50 profit that is left for us. I saw some class actions against eBay in the past years, instead they made their policy a lot firmer for buyers than it used to be before. Now they make sell with Free Shipping & Return. I hope our government or our Law system do something about them.

eBay has a policy that allows buyers to use a "designer" brand item for up to 30 days and if the buyer feels it's fake, seller is forced to provide a full refund. My wife and I purchased a brand new authentic Coach Snoopy Satchel Handbag on 6/16/2015. I didn't intend to use this purse but only to keep as a collector's item. I used a credit card and ordered from Coach directly order number # **. The price was $486 (with tax). For 6 months, I kept the handbag in the box in safekeeping as a collector's item to possible sell on eBay.

Christmas time came and I needed the money so I listed and sold it on Dec. 31st for $549. With eBay listing fees and PayPal's fee, I only get about $500. The eBay transaction id is **. The buyer decided to open a case for a refund claiming that I have sold her a fake Coach handbag. I denied the refund because it was over my 14-day return policy (stated clearly in listing) and I also knew that it is not a fake purse. eBay put my PayPal funds on hold and suggested to me that I give a refund to the buyer. Knowing that it's no longer new, nor a collectible item at this point, I tried to dispute the claim and deny giving the refund. eBay stepped in Jan. 29th and forced the refund.

I called a supervisor named Casey and tried desperately to argue my case and provide proof that the purse is not a fake. He informed me that eBay has an automatically (no questioning and no proof of it being fake needed) 30-day mandatory return policy that warrants any seller of a designer brand item must provide full refunds to buyers that suspects that it is fake. I haven't found this in any fine print yet and am still looking for it. Casey admitted he doesn't like this policy but nevertheless enforcing me to provide a full refund in which the money will be automatically deducted from my PayPal account. Casey also told me that the buyer is allowed to give me a negative feedback which will be always be displayed under my records.

How I Interpret this rule is a buyer can buy and return any priced designer brand item and use it for 30 days. Without questioning the buyer, eBay will force the seller to refund the money if the buyer states it is fake. It doesn't matter that I kept accurate documentation, took very detailed pictures, listed my product accurately, or have a 100% positive feedback rating since 1999. What is also very important not to overlook, it doesn't matter what is the truth. I'd been victimized by a buyer who knew this policy well and used eBay to mandate free use of this product for up to 30 days.

The item is being sent back to me used and I don't have a penny to show for it. This rule that eBay has in place has pretty much made me decide I can't afford to sell on eBay anymore. It also has revealed to me that eBay will give a free pass for unethical activity and doesn't care about the honest working individual. I've been a proud member of this website since 1998 and been showing countless people how to use it. I feel so deceived and disappointed in myself for being such a loyal eBayer. Sellers beware of this clause in their policies and think twice for selling your good with them.

There is a greater need for more competition in the market place for alternative to eBay that are consumer-friendly and refunds with ease.

As of 2 years ago, my old email address is rearing its ugly head. I have called numerous times to have it removed as I have zero access to that email account to no avail. They can never tell me that they can remove the old email address. How can this be? I removed this thing years ago and now it's an issue to where people are Paypaling to my old email because eBay has that as the default email although I've set it differently and called many times to have this issue resolved.

So now I selling this item. It's marked paid but cannot reach my Paypal account. I call eBay and Paypal, they tell me to add my old email account to my Paypal account and it will be resolved. Guess what, it's not. So I resorted to cancelling my eBay listing, informing the customer I have an Etsy account they can purchase the item from since eBay is zero help. Problem number 2: when I call eBay they want to forward me to Paypal. When I speak to Paypal, they tell me it's an eBay issue, so come on. Since this has been a problem for me for 2 years, now I'm quitting eBay for good. Not worth the stress.

I have purchase one 32 GB Samsung memory card from eBay. After purchase I found that it's not original card. Print made on card was removed by just touching with the finger. So, I have raised the claim with ID ** to eBay on the next day of item received. First eBay reject the claim with the statement item was in manufacturer warranty, so I need to contact Samsung. Then I go to Samsung service center. They told me that it's not a Samsung card, so you need to contact merchant. Then I contact seller by eBay email, I didn't get the reply for 5 days. Then I called to eBay then have given me seller number and told me to try to contact seller for 5 days. Seller was not receiving the call but still I need to try for 5 days.

After 5 days I called to eBay then they told me that they will try to contact seller and will update the status within 2 days. After 2 days I didn't get the call, so I called to eBay and asking for the refund then they again tell me to wait 7 days. After 7 days I called them and they told me to send the pictures of card on 'paisapaydocs@ebay.com'.

After sending the email I got the call from eBay and the executive told me that I will get the refund within 7 days. I didn't get the refund for 10 days, so I called them again then they told me that "your claim was rejected because item was in manufacturer warranty." Then after explaining whole case they told me that no one called from eBay and grant the refund. Due to call recorded, previous call was recorded and I have start the recording during call that prove that I got the call from eBay executive. Then they told me to wait more 2 days. After 2 days I called them again and again got the same answer. After listening the audio clip of call they told me to wait more 7 days. I am so frustrated with this type of service. For every reader of this review I only suggest that never buy anything from eBay. Ebay guarantee is a big scam and never help out in trouble.

No, they don't return the product. They request a refund. The problem: There is no problem. In most cases, the electronics are new or gently used and DO work. I even take pictures of the items in a working state. However, the buyer always tries to get something for free. I've only been backed up once by eBay. That's because I reported the buyer first. Very often you will find the best prices on ebay but some products are of inferior quality. For example a popular and useful item is the "military quality" led "700 lumen" led flashlight. It appears identical to one offered on Amazon but my own testing shows it to be weaker with a less intense and less focused beam. Further inspection shows defects in the lens and of the assembly. (I took the time to interchange parts.) The Amazon product came with a charger and a rechargeable battery and was packaged properly whereas the ebay item was economically packaged to minimize shipping costs and at 8 bucks it was a decent cheaper alternative than the 20 dollar light. Both lights work with 3 triple A batteries but in this instance you get what you paid for.

I strictly go off of the ratings a seller has for that reason alone, as a warning sign of the type of experience you will have with them. There are enough variations available for whatever product I might be looking for regarding price, taxes, shipping, locations, and customer feedback. The sellers are dependent, for the most part, on excellent feedback and do their best to get the best. It shows in the shipping and packaging and desire to resolve any problems. Not having to drive and put up with people that have an attitude, both on the road and in the stores is worth a lot IMHO.

What's even more pleasing is the possibility of buying at an auction. You have to constantly keep an eye on bidding updates, otherwise it's easy to miss on a deal. If you are not honest in selling items you could not continue on eBay since the rating system is very good and people usually judge you honestly so if one is really honest and respects one's promises could be successful. Also, when you buy something you have got the right to review and judge the seller and that also counts. This is my experience and again I have not been an active user. Thanks.

If you buy, they instantly take the money, yet you may wait ten days for the item. Returning it, if it's even allowed takes another two weeks after several conversations pleading with the person who sold it. You next have to wait for eBay to give you permission to return it, then pay for return shipping as well, so you end up losing money and lots of time and trips to stand in line at the post office. Selling is even worse. Their fees have about doubled, and after you sell an item have to wait about two weeks until the buyer decided to let them know that they've received it – which may never happen. I waited 24 days for my payment. I will never buy or sell on eBay again.

I have used eBay for at least 10 years and I am pleased with the service that they provide. They have a great buyer's protection policy, although the same beneficial policy has caused problems and money for the seller. eBay treats the buyer as always 99% correct/right when it comes to disputes. I had a telephone that sold overseas, but the shipping was $60 (paid by the buyer). The buyer claimed the phone didn't work and refused to send the phone back because of the high shipping costs. In the end, despite proving that the phone did indeed work properly, eBay awarded the buyer a refund of the full amount and allowed him to keep the phone. eBay charged me for the full amount (around $150) plus the loss of the phone. The buyer that was overseas got a great bargain... a free phone with free shipping!

My recommendation is to document EVERYTHING! Most eBay transactions can be retrieved online, but I would keep or make sure that it is available the following items...Postal Receipts, ALL correspondence between you and the buyer (and vice versa), all costs associated with shipping, and anything thing else that might come along. Make sure to use or get delivery tracking as well as insurance. If you get ANY requests to ship something immediately, be careful as it is often a scam... especially on big ticket items. Feedback is very important, so make sure to read it often!
