I have been with eBay for 15 Years. I have 100% positive feedback and yet am listed as a below standard seller since the implementation of this new defect system. I have called to explain the numbers are incorrect and even showed the lady this yet all she does is insist on looking at the overall number. When I ask to speak to a supervisor she refuses. Basically they do not care. I have paid my fees and made ebay what it is today and yet they slander my good name with no sense of decency or repose. I cannot get assistance and basically it's a take it or leave it situation. I cannot believe they get away with this. I work hard to keep 100% positive feedback and feel this has caused me detrimental harm in selling and in how I am perceived. I can't get any resolution nor speak to any supervisor. It's been making me feel physically ill it bothers me so much and I am thinking about contacting a doctor and a lawyer.

I'm selling for almost 10 years. I totally agree with other statements that eBay with their defect rating is a playground for scammers. I sign after Jonathan of Byhalia post on Aug. 6, 2015. eBay reps are useless. They manipulate and bend their own rules in their own favor. All eBay innovations are working in scammers favor. That's why I will sell whatever I have and that's it. I'm not selling anymore. I made them about 100K in fees during almost 10 years. I think that's enough!

I had purchased a mobile from eBay last month. Since I purchased the same I have been facing problem. At the time of receiving the parcel - I did not received the mobile battery along with the handset. After which I logged in the complaint online and received the battery after 4 days. Phone did not worked properly and charger stopped working on the day 1. Trying to get in touch with eBay customer care no. and only getting assurances that my query will be attended within next 72 or 48 hrs, but till date NO response from their end.
Had spoken with different people ( e.g. Tarun / Akshay ** / Mahindra **) from eBay customer on 31st July / 5th August and today. I personally don't recommend anyone to purchase online from eBay. They are least bothered about the feedback as they had already sold their product and taken money for it!!! Waste of buying from eBay. No single response or update for claim. I have called several times for my refund, no use at all. Worst service.

Been selling on eBay's for year. Sold an item, pictures showed some scratches on watch. The d-bag who lives in AZ had an issue with item (dusty), we offer him $20 & he accepted. Money was sent through PayPal but the d-bag never accepted the money. This d-bag complained and EBAY gave him full refund of $66 plus allowed to keep item! Sent him some nasty emails telling him he was a scam artist and the d-bag has not returned any emails.

I have been selling on eBay for over two years over multiple accounts and have paid thousands of dollars in eBay fees. I recently received my first return for an Eaton Supercharger. The buyer had claimed that there was some light scratches on the rotors and wanted to return the item under the money back guarantee. I had detailed the scratches in the description and listed it as used. I told the buyer to return the product and I would issue the return. He refused and opened a case against me. After emailing ebay and contacting customer service numerous times, to no avail, I lost the case. Ebay gave me no reason and did not even ask for my side of the story.
So now I had to issue a 400 refund, pay 60 in shipping charges, and lost the supercharger because the buyer could not be bothered to return the item. After continuing to contact ebay many times by email (I have a speech disorder, and cannot contact by phone) they have stopped responding to my emails and now I'm out 460$ with no supercharger. This is absurd and the customer service I have received is pathetic at best. If I am going to lose money why would I sell on ebay?? Ebay is no help and the customer service is pathetic. Not to mention it seems that every month they raise fees. I was so angry with this experience I am moving my store to justparts.com.

My 13-year old son purchased a graphics card thru eBAY for $189 (with his own money). He plugged it in and it worked for 2 days and then it stopped. eBay would not allow him to return it or refund his money. We escalated it twice and got only lip service. SHAME on eBAY for not backing a faulty product that blew-up in 2 days. And more importantly, failing to listen to their customer. I will never trust or use eBay again!

A longtime 100% positive feedback seller on eBay sought help from the Office of the President. Summation - eBay is losing good sellers due to not caring. Just pathetic. Issue: Received a defect on an item broken by USPS she sold. Customer filed an item not as described via eBay, which eBay encourages buyers to do, even though it has a negative impact on the seller (no kidding, it was broken by USPS) hence the seller received a defect. Seller promptly refunded the buyer's money. Item sale WITH shipping $9.99. eBay's CSR told her to use a different carrier in the future. UPS wanted $12.45 to ship the item & FedEx wanted $11.76 to ship the item. Are we the only one seeing anything wrong with this suggestion?
Seller wrote the Office of the President at eBay. Basically they told her they could not help her. They would not remove the defect because eBay holds the seller accountable for an unhappy customer that she had no control over, even though the customer received a full refund and left positive feedback. Seller had to send the letter twice before receiving a response. eBay went so far as to give seller unsolicited advice on issues seller did not ask for input on.

I have only made 2-3 purchases in my life from eBay and this is the first time I tried to return something. The t-shirt I bought had a print that was not centered unlike the picture where the print was clearly centered. The seller who was ranked #1 on eBay, had no clue how to provide me with a shipping label yet the eBay instructions said I needed one. After going back and forth with the seller and making about 6 calls to eBay, thereby wasting about 3 hrs of time for this lousy $12.99 t shirt, they closed my case!
Apparently they couldn't figure out how to give me a shipping label so they said they had to close it, and then the resolution department told me they couldn't touch it after it was closed, even though it was erroneously closed by them. Right. I will never order from eBay again. Their website is totally useless if you are trying to return something - it will go in circles and you will never find anyone to e-mail. THEN, when I tried to provide feedback on the seller, they had the nerve to send me an immediate automatic message saying my feedback was deleted from the website since my "case was closed" (remember, this was erroneously done by them).

To make possible the health support to my dying mother, facing a bad cancer, I had to move from Bangkok Thailand to Cambodia in 2011. After fighting 2 years with a prostate cancer, when the doctors gave up, I decided to took my mum in Asia, and that's what she wanted. After she passed away, I faced situations I never met before. Cambodia is an "emerging" country, understand, the poorest country in the all Asian continent - poorest than Bangladesh, poorest than Burma or the Philippines Islands. I choose Cambodia as new "home" because mum was not English speaking (we are french) and French language is still spoken here.
She passed away two years ago, and I had to deal with a reasonable amount of money she left me. Very fast I realized that the money was not safe at my bank, when I was not allowed to withdraw cash at my bank and I was told me that my money was not on my account anymore because the sales rep in charge was running away the country with the bank money (and mine). Sounds crazy but 100% true. I realized my money was not safe. I could not also keep these money at home, so I invested in a local business areal estate agency which I success to run incredibly well during two years. Employing 26 people, I did good until the locals took over illegally, leaving me nothing. I have no property or reasons to go back in France. Moreover I wanted my money back.
My new plan was working here the time to get enough coins to plan a relocation. I opened a e-commerce, a watches shop. I grew up in the watches family shop, when I was a kid. It appears to be the best solution because I was not not depending on the local market, (people need food more than watches) and watches interest very few people. It was mainly a good way to protect my funds. I was thinking retailing slowly. Opening an e-commerce get the advantage to be discreet, and you can handle it almost 100% by yourself. That's why I opened my small business online and spend over 30000$ buying used watches on e-bay. Most of my old watches came from the US Lost & Found airport auctions, relayed by eBay - bought on eBay.
I never thought becoming rich retailing watches, but working hard and fixing, glasses, battery, hands, could be a good way to create value, selling lightly more expensive than I bought. My plan was retailing mainly on e-bay platform. My problem is that e-bay company not allow me to sell over a limit of 200$ monthly. After calling the customer service the amount could be raised up to 1000$ monthly, but it it's still not fair to me. I spend 800$ for my rent, and my business model was not this one. This company allow me to spend WITH NO LIMIT but not allow me to sell, items I bought on eBay. There is no warning or prevention about this. I would never buy on eBay if I knew it, or I would buy few items not 30000$ in three months.
I will keep calling eBay but there is no possible discussion outside the form to fill, and they not even provide an e-mail address you can contact. You can claim ONLY by phone which cost me more money. I studied during all these months (and is not simple as people think) how to buy, sell, solve the disputes on eBay platform, because it was the common sense to think than eBay was the right place where to sell the products I bought on eBay! It compromise all my business and I wish to get some help, advises and get in touch with a lawyer if possible, to avoid people to spend money on the number 2 worldwide marketplace thinking they will make good business there. Apparently there is no e-common sense.

I sold an item on eBay that was in great working order and condition. The buyer claimed it did not work. I asked the buyer to exercise insurance at USPS as the item must have been damaged in shipping. They refused. They asked to return the non-working item. I explained again that if it wasn't working now, it was damaged in transit. A case was opened. eBay forced me to take the return. The item was returned, not in original packaging, in working order, but was now cosmetically damaged. I tried over weeks to explain to eBay that this buyer abused the money back policy. Not only were they scammed, but now I am out my original sale money and now have a damaged item that is not worth selling. They hide behind canned speak and avoidance, and no one helps the seller in these instances.

Ebay has become toxic for sellers and a playground for scammers. We operate several eBay selling accounts. We've always had 100% positive feedback, and rarely any issues. This all started to change a few years ago with the introduction of the poorly thought out eBay "defect" system. In short buyers can now purchase an item, claim it's not exactly as described (falsely), get a full refund plus return shipping (of which eBay gets a cut both ways), keep the item, send back nothing at all or a box of trash and the sellers are not only completely out on both the product and funds, but are further "punished" by eBay for having an item returned. The idea that "bad" sellers are limited may seem acceptable in the broad scheme, but in reality it has made it nearly impossible for sellers to maintain good standing, and has opened the door for scamming left and right.
We've repeatedly been the victim of this to the point of having one of our accounts suspended for having too many returns (keep in mind nothing was ever actually sent back to us). And eBay is completely unwilling to so much as give us the time of day regardless of how many years we've maintained a presence on the site. They (eBay) simply don't care about the sellers who bring in their money, sellers are disposable and sellers money and property are simple chips in the game to help eBay make more money. A quick search will unearth thousands of horror stories about just how terrible eBay has become and how heartless a company they are. I desperately wait for the day when more eBay like sites become big enough that we can completely close up shop on eBay.

I bought an Item on eBay, but before I bought it I asked several questions like eBay states you should. Well I got ripped off and when I started a dispute I got the runaround from eBay. At first they kept telling me I had to wait more time before it could be escalated to the next level. The third time and two weeks later I called my Credit Card company and started a dispute, they told me with eBay I had a wait period of 15 days before they would step in from the day I called them (credit card company), OK.
Ten days into it I called eBay again and again they said I needed to wait three more days. I told them "NO, you keep telling me the same thing over and over", well they escalated it to the next level, at this next level they told me it was a high-value item and I had to be escalated further, OK. Well when I got to this high-value level they told me since I called my credit card company that eBay would not help me get my money back. "Oh so it's okay that the seller (Pink44) ripped me off and your policy states the customer (buyer) is covered 100% by eBay's money back guaranty", they told me to have a good day and hung up on me. I will never buy anything from eBay again, and I will tell everyone never to buy anything there, eBay is a rip off site, scam, you'll get ripped off and they won't help you!

I made a payment on the morning of the 29th not realizing that eBay would take out the same payment at 3am the next morning. I did this because I needed to make a credit card change to avoid payment issues. I call eBay to stop the payment. They tell me it will take up to 30 days. Really! Why? Any company including mine can refund money the same day, especially if it was taken in error or in my case (already paid). Because I'm a relatively new seller I did not realize there could be such consequences, nor did I realize it would take eBay up to 30 days to return the money.
To make matters worse eBay did not get the new cc info from paypal thus my bank account was charged, costing me $72.00 in processing fees with my bank, because I had just paid a bunch of bills and did not have money to cover the extra charge to my account. I did not know this because original ticket said it came out of my credit card. So because they couldn't draw from the credit card that was removed by me, it automatically went to my bank. I had to file complaint with paypal. After filing the report the next day the money was returned to paypal from eBay. I'm very upset by this and of course I can't get the $72.00 back from eBay. I wouldn't even try.

This company consistently lets people sell objects that are damaged, stolen, fake and violates its own rules on a daily basis. It's incredible what they will do to get mere cents from a sale. I have been a member since 2006 and have purchased over 340 objects, mainly Football cards and bicycle equipment and clothing. There seems to be nobody monitoring or aware of their weird business practices. Also their main office or where your telephone calls always goes to the Philippines. They also never take the buyer's side of 99% of the complaints I have made to them for any reason. These shoddy practices need to be looked into and fixed. Also I do not believe they pay any U.S. taxes.

Horrible purchase experience through eBay and less protection for buyers. I bought this item through eBay (IPTV With 400+ Free Channel Android 4.4 WIFI 1G/8G XBMC HD Smart TV BOX) $88.50 on Monday, Jun 8, 2015, arrived on Tuesday, Jun 23, 2015 from China... It was a defect unit so I started communicate with the seller through eBay for almost two weeks without getting any results, I opened a case on July 1st requesting a return, seller refused to send a printed return label and asked me to ship it back from my pocket and he WILL pay it back once receive the item. The cheapest rate found with FedEx on that weight of packages is 107 as shown on the attached receipt. All the communications been monitored through the opened case on eBay.
I shipped the item back using the provided address and contact name and phone number. Once shipped and provided the seller with the tracking info, he start negotiate on the return fees claiming it's too high... eBay did not show any guideline through this communications or recommendations whether agreeing or disagreeing with making the seller ask me to pay from my own pocket so I believed I was protected and the process is monitored and secured by eBay... On July 12, 2015 I received a call by FedEx International regarding the package that they can't reach the seller and they will hold the package for three days and try again to reach him then they will have to turn the item back to me on my own cost... I contacted the seller through both the opened case and inboxed, gave him their numbers in China and begged him to contact FedEx to receive his item... He promised he will and never respond after that...
Since then I receive calls almost everyday from FedEx in China to verify the contact info and I try my best to convince them to try again and again, during this time I contacted eBay to check if this whole process is monitored and under control, customer service apologized and promised to refund me the item price plus the return fees, I checked my PayPal account found only the $88.50 the item price, I called and escalated the case but they assumed that it's already closed after I received my refund and they will NOT refund me the return fees, and it's a matter of business between me and the seller, I showed my very disappointment at their policy of not warning the buyer in the right time through the opened case that it's my responsibility to carry the return fees... Now the seller has abandoned the package and FedEx confirmed that they will charge me a new return fees plus storage fees and turn it back to me...
I contacted eBay more than 5 times after that trying to make them at least contact the seller and ask him to receive his item and help me get my return fees back, they deny any sense or responsibility on the case... I checked the seller feedback history and found many similar stories, but eBay still keeping him selling defect items and wasting their money on returning fees. eBay assume they mentions this warning and identifying responsibilities on return fees through the company policy... But from a buyer perspective, they are responsible under the customer protection policy to monitor and guide both sellers and buyers of what steps they can or can't or recommended or not recommended actions to do.
When I open a case that means I'm requiring an investigations and asking for guidelines as I'm covered by their customer protection policy. But sounded fishy to me to protect a bad history seller and hold no responsibility on his action and deny any responsibility toward protecting the buyer and totally let the seller run the whole show. Is that because eBay charge the sellers after each order and not the buyer? Please, enlight me if my responses were in the right directions and if there's anything else I could have done myself to gain more protection, and if you think there's any responsibility on eBay in this case.I'm sure many similar cases went through and eBay eased and shared on such fraud practices. Please email me on ** for any needed information... I appreciate your time. Thank you.

I sold a Nintendo DS lot that included a console, multiple accessories, several cartridges and 2 SD cards with flashcard for games I owned and have since sold with a previous DS lite sale outside of eBay. My son decided he no longer wanted his DS but rather an Ipad. After purchasing an Ipad off eBay I sold his DS lot with an asking price of $130 clearly pointing out what was included and that about 80 games were on micro SD cards. JJGames out of Englewood, CO, JJ Hendrick, real name, is a retail seller of gaming consoles, cartridges, etc. They have an online store where they specialize in great discounts. He asked for a refund after 30 days stating that it was counterfeit/fake. I refused and he threatened. I've never had a bad review ever after 10 years on eBay, so I reluctantly agreed to refund his money after receiving all items sold and in the condition I sold them in.
After not returning the items for over a week I asked eBay to step in as I no longer felt comfortable refunding the money. After eBay ruled in the thief's favor I received back half of the items sold, no DS lite console, 2 cartridges missing and 2 micro SD cards and flashcard missing after he claimed they were useless to him. THEN WHY DID YOU STEAL THEM?!?! Ebay ruled in their favor and after calling Ebay, I am awaiting a supervisor to call me back. Basically it is not seller protection guaranteed. They refund the buyer, no questions ask and chalk up returns to "business loss". eBay has lost sight of what is important. It sees sellers as some sort of necessary evil, when in reality sellers are what makes eBay profitable. Sellers take time to go find merchandise, time to list it, and then time to sell and ship these items. eBay has forgotten the true customer on eBay is the seller, not the buyer. The buyer takes second to get on and buy an item, to then turn around and screw the seller over with all the head games that have been thought up to get something for free, on account of eBay's policies. The scams are endless by some buyers. There has to be some recognition of sellers by eBay or eventually out of necessity, sellers will find other avenues. This is inevitable. I go to live auctions all the time and the Owner of the auction house realizes without people supplying items to sell there will be no auction or income made by the auctioneer. Why is it eBay can't figure this out?

I purchased what was described as a "high definition" video camera. When it arrived and I did a test video, I found that the video looked like crap, clearly NOT high definition. The industry standard resolution for high definition is either 720 or 1080. The camera that I received has a MAXIMUM resolution of 320 x 240. Again, clearly not high definition video.
I tried contacting the seller, and was basically told to bug off. I then opened a case with eBay under their "Buyer Protection" service. I provided eBay with documentation consisting of the original listing (which describes the camera as "high definition" in several locations), as well as online reviews and product information of the camera (which document that it maxes out at 320x240). I made it VERY simple for them to follow and understand.
After two months of back-and-forth exchanges with their customer service office, where they claimed they would check into it, I got a final decision. The eBay Customer Service team decided in favor of the seller -- no explanation given, just a short message saying that they had decided in favor of the seller, and that I would NOT be getting a refund. How can a seller sell a low resolution camera, claiming it as high definition, clearly a lie in their listing, and yet eBay customer service still decides in their favor?

Why pick on me? I have been a seller on eBay since 1999.

I sold a camera lens just over a month ago. The buyer, after THREE weeks, "discovered" that I misrepresented the item and he wanted a full refund, which he got. eBay put a hold on my paypal account, and then billed me for return shipping, and it was like pulling teeth to get them to give me a credit on the final value. They sent the lens to my old address and when I asked them to issue a new label and have it sent to my current address, they refused and said it was my fault if I didn't get the lens back. I have tried to talk to a supervisor, with no help at all. They have basically called me a liar. I am going to file a complaint with the BBB and also talk to a lawyer if the BBB doesn't get results. I think a good old-fashioned class action lawsuit is what is needed. eBay wouldn't even have a business if it weren't for the sellers, yet they do nothing but screw them over.

I bought an item in eBay NWT. It was size 4 and sometimes I can wear size 4 depending on the the style. Nevertheless, it was too tight for me and tried returning it to the seller. She refused to take it back because of her no return policy and suggested that I sell it back in eBay. I did within few days and local buyer won the bid. That jacket was in good condition/new.. Buyer claimed after few days of receipt that it was not as described. One button was loose and wrinkled. She sent 3 pictures, one laying flat with the same button she was referring to still intact but the 2 other pictures with the same button loose. I even tried this jacket on and checked everything when I received it myself from the original seller. If this was the case, I could have returned it to the original seller.
I escalated the situation to ebay's resolution center and got an answer back from eBay in buyer's favor. When I asked them as to what ground they said what they received is not the same as the picture I took before I sent it and by industry standard customer is always right. So if I received the item back and there are more damaged in the jacket than what they complained, how are we as a seller get any kind of protection against dishonest buyers??? Why even escalate when they know they are going to side in favor of the buyer? Furthermore, when I complained to EBay if they saw the 3 pictures that the buyer sent, they said that it was removed from the return page when I asked them to stepped in.
The first pictures showed the button that customer complaining loose was intact and for some reason the next 2 pictures button was loose. An evidence of their own crime against buyer's claim and they purged it. I guess there is nothing we can do as Sellers in eBay if the only transaction protected is buyers. I think EBAY is a scam. I wonder if they have any case that they protected the truth or the SELLER!! Hoping eventually that they do an honest business. I hope there is a lawyer out there that can do something about this. I'm sure there is a law about protecting seller on a scam like this.
Business entities like EBay cannot create a rule/license and agreement that only protect one party in a business transaction. I can't believe that I was a victim of this but at least I get to know eBay as a Seller. Won't do business with them again. It is very sad as I thought I can do this as a side business but at least I learned their business morale this early and only cost me few hundred dollars. I just hope this buyer does not damage the jacket even more before returning it to me but what's stopping her?? She is well protected by eBay!!! What a shame.

I signed up with eBay to buy and sell about 5 weeks ago. My item, a pair of earrings, sold quickly, but I have been unable to list anything more since then. I called eBay everyday for over 4 weeks trying to fix this problem. But nearly 5 weeks later I still cannot list anything. I keep being transferred from department to department and have even spoke with some of the same people 3 times. I have done everything they have told me to do including changing my phone number at a cost to me of $36.00. Others say any number of things to put me off but always transfer me to their "SPECIALISTS," in WHAT I wonder.
The last suggestion was to create a new account which I did and which resulted in a nasty message from eBay telling me that my account was now restricted for doing that amongst other things. I have to wonder if anyone there knows what they are doing. I have friends on eBay who list something every day or two with no problem but no one there seems to care that this is really a problem. I am at wit's end with eBay telling me I committed a big no no and said my account is now restricted etc. and am beginning to think perhaps they are a touch shady.

We sold a rare Beta-max VCR in perfect working condition except for some scuffs and minor marks. The buyer complained and said it was defective and wouldn't power on. Ebay forced us to pay the return postage and when we got it back, buttons were broken off and the front face was falling off. The buyer did nothing to protect the vcr during shipment. Plugged it in and amazingly it powered on fine and played tapes perfectly. I sent photos to Ebay showing how it was packaged; photos of all the damage; and photos showing that the buyer lied since it powered on fine and worked just fine. Did any of that matter? Not at all.
So now it can't be sold even as junk but thanks to Ebay, the buyer got a full refund and I paid all the shipping. All I have now is something that no one would ever buy because of the damage. I would have sold this as "as is" with no returns allowed but Ebay forces a 30 day money back, no questions asked, guarantee on all sellers. I can't even file a claim with the USPS because it was very obvious that the buyer didn't care how it was boxed up. Why should he/she, when they know they will get a full refund no matter what.
We've been selling on Ebay for over a decade with over 99% positive feedback and we've sold well over $100k on Ebay. We were a Top Rated Seller for quite a while but because of their new policies we got dropped out of that too. This buyer made 1 purchase on Ebay in the last year and they returned that 1 item completely destroyed and got a full refund. Ebay would rather bend over backwards to keep this one buyer happy while convincing me to stop selling on Ebay all together. Their answer was that they can't afford the risk of covering situations like this. A multi-million dollar company can't afford the risk but I can? Well I can't afford the risk of selling anything on Ebay anymore.
Ebay has just made it so simple for buyers to make purchases and then get full refunds no matter what. Even if they just don't like what they bought, they only need to lie and say it wasn't as described. Ebay never investigates any of this anymore; They just side with the buyer and demand you give them a full refund. If they wanted to really fix the issue, they would automatically charge all buyers at least a 15% restocking fee for any and all returned items and at least 50% for returned items that are damaged and not covered by shipping insurance.
It's really funny how a buyer can easily say that an item is not as it was described and get a full refund BUT if a seller says that the item that was returned wasn't in the same condition as when it was sold and shipped, there is nothing that can be done about it. If buyers know that they can't easily get a full refund, I'm sure a lot of the returns would end. Photos 12 and PIC_0135 show the condition when sold and shipped versus the condition when returned. Photos PIC_0138 and PIC_0139 show the LCD display proving that the unit powers on and off contrary to the complaint submitted by the buyer. PIC_0131 shows how the vcr was packaged in the box from the buyer with no protection at all between the box and the front face of the vcr. PIC_0128 shows how well the buyer packaged the vcr for return shipment.

eBay created a new Money Back Policy in September of 2014. That policy voids its own stated requirements for returns and it also voids an individual seller's returns policies. eBay notes that sellers are allowed to have almost any type of returns policy they wish - even a no returns policy, but in the end it doesn't matter since eBay ignores it anyway. In a letter from Gary Owen, eBay's President - he claims that eBay has the right to assign a loss aka faulty return "at will". A buyer's statements on the return are the ONLY thing that matters, and since losses are part of business, eBay sellers should "take one for the team".
eBay refuses to step in as promised to counter theft, and fraud. eBay customer service told me specifically "it doesn't matter what they return to you, if it's the same item but damaged (aka the switch), it doesn't matter if its the same item with a different serial number, or even if he returns a box of rocks!" eBay also now forces sellers to pay for return shipping, where eBay "magically" happens to make money on the postage and Paypal (which sellers are forced to use) makes money on the sale of the USPS label to you.
eBay in 2007, told the court in France when they were being sued by Vitton "eBay simply provides the venue for the sale [of goods] and support for the transaction[s]. 13 (Tiffany, 576 F.Supp. 2d at 475)". So is eBay simply a venue or not? Which is which? Between listing fraud, ZERO abuse, Cassini listing manipulations, Returns theft and more - eBay has become a DANGEROUS place to sell goods on. My eBay returns have skyrocketed over the past few months - with customers returning incorrect items, items missing pieces, items with different serial numbers and more. Shame on eBay for stealing from its seller base.

I recently began selling various items on eBay and read through their policy regarding the delay in receiving funds from sales while a Seller establishes a proven sales track record. Specifically, the policy states: "While you establish your selling track record, buyer payments may be delayed. These funds will generally be available once: 1) It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale; 2) You've had more than 25 sales transactions with US buyers; and 3) You've had more than $250 in sales. You need to add tracking information to My eBay or to an eBay Buyer Protection case."
I met all of these requirements on July 6, 2015, when my 25th item was delivered. On July 13, 2015, I sold my 26th item; however, my funds were and are still being withheld. I contacted eBay support and was told that their policy of withholding funds applies to any items which were listed during the initial probation period. I asked where I could find this information and was told that it was not on their website and that is why they have customer support; to clear up questions such as this. I was also told that the items I currently had listed would fall under this same policy and that the only way to insure that any future sales monies would be available to me immediately was to end the listings and then relist them. I expressed my dissatisfaction of having to engage in something so absurd and that I would have to repay the listing fees. I then asked for and spoke with a supervisor who told me the same thing.
Again, I questioned the omission of this additional criteria from their posted policy. Both the initial representative and the supervisor agreed that I had in fact met all of the criteria to "graduate" from the program and that the only issue was that the sold item had been listed during this time. After approximately 45 minutes, I acquiesced and ended the call. I immediately took all my items down and relisted them as I had been instructed to do so that future sales funds would not be delayed. On July 15, 2015, my 27th item sold. Again, the funds were not being made available to me.
Upon contacting eBay, I speak initially with a representative in the Funds Availability Dept. who informs me that the current sale is actually my 26th sale and that funds will not be released to me until the 25th sale item has reached its destination, Nova Scotia. I tell him of my previous conversation and that this was in fact my 27th sale. He has me look at my Seller Dashboard which shows 24 sales, but does not include the two sales in July. I told him that the Seller Dashboard and the eBay Sold page are showing different figures. He then transfers me to the Sales Department wherein the discrepancy is found to be that the last sale in June was on the 30th and as a result is recorded as July since it wasn't actually mailed out until July 1.
He then agrees that the funds should be made available to me and transfers me back to the Funds Availability Dept. I speak with another representative who also agrees that this is in fact my 27th sale and recognizes that the item was listed after the probationary period; however, the item sales count only applies to those sales made domestically and not those made internationally. I inform him of my previous lengthy conversation and that I was told that the only issue keeping my money from being released was the "phantom" listing criteria. He stated that I was given erroneous information and that I should have been informed that the only sales that count are those sold domestically.
I expressed to each and every representative in both incidents that I had entered into a contract with eBay and had satisfied my end and that they had failed to satisfy their portion and that they shouldn't be allowed to arbitrarily change their own policy without notice. I asked for the phone number of someone who is actually working at eBay and not a call center and was told that there is no such number and that I could send an email but that would take a long time. I imagine that there are thousands of other Sellers who have previously and are currently experiencing this same issue and eBay is withholding funds in the hundreds of thousands dollars and profiting millions in interest over time. I don't know much about unfair trade practices, but this is not only unfair, it is intentionally misleading and should be subject to a class action lawsuit.
I need that money desperately and I related that to the representative. While eBay sits back and makes up the rules as they go, my electricity is being cutoff and my doctor's appointment is having to be rescheduled and I apparently have no recourse. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated. Maybe I'm wrong in my understanding of the contract or relied promises process and if so, I would like any information you can give me. Thank you for your time and consideration.

When I called to request that it be removed, as I was told by the associate that it would not be a problem they then refused to help me.
I work too hard to put up with that. They reap much benefit from my hard work. IF YOU USE THE EBAY SITE TO SELL YOUR PRODUCT, DON'T EXPECT THEM TO HELP YOU AS A SELLER AND MAKE SURE YOU REVIEW YOUR SELLER FEES. I WAS CHARGED FOR MY SHIPPING COST THROUGH FEDEX TWICE ON SEVERAL ITEMS. If I had not been paying attention it would not have been noticed. It was over $100 in overcharge for duplicate shipping charges. They called it a glitch in the system. I do have some really great customers and they like my product.
Hmmmmm I’ll find a better site. If you are an eBay investor, don't believe the numbers that are published. All it takes is a "glitch in the system" to make that look however they want it to. Imagine how a $100 overcharge per seller for one month could affect the bottom line for investors to see. Some sellers have probably not noticed it yet. Then, there is the question, if you, EBAY knew there was a glitch in the system, why did I have to call you? Why didn't you call me?

I sold a computer case last month for $44, free shipping (perhaps my greatest mistake) - took great pictures, explained in the description that it's still a little dusty despite my cleaning efforts. This potential buyer asked redundant questions, (already laid out in the auction description), which I gladly answered again, politely, and with a lot of words - making sure I was more than clear what he was possibly going to bid on. He ended up winning the auction. It cost me $32 to FedEx it, PayPal took theirs, eBay took theirs, and I made $5. Then the buyer opened a case, claimed not as described - after making wild claims about how I left it out in the rain, and later how there must have been a motherboard or power supply fire in the case - none of which he could prove, no matter what kind of pictures he took in whatever lighting - just outrageous.
I called eBay customer support all week, heard a range of different realities of expectations and processes, in the end to be out $150, (original shipping + full refund + return shipping). I was not counting on that at all. I wasn't able to pay rent this month as a result. The reps basically told me the pictures don't serve any purpose, nor do the buyer's and my emails back and forth, and that eBay will always side with the buyer if there is a problem because eBay can't tell the condition of an item at any point - only I the seller can... So if that's the case, then why can't I the seller have more control. It's my fault, sure, for not paying closer attention when they implemented their "moneyback guarantee" policy last September.
The implications were much larger than I expected, though, and their behavior is absolutely criminal. I've always thought their fees were exorbitant, but this takes it to a whole new level. "Item sold as is, be sure to ask questions" and "seller does not accept returns" in the shipping tab were completely useless. They didn't even try to save me from closing my account, at all. 13 years, over 500 transactions - 35% of those sales - and a 100% feedback rating. So this jerk can keep screwing with peoples' computers and return them packaged like ** and they still get their money back. My husband and I are so mad. My son is out several hundred dollars now and has a piece of junk. I feel really bad for him because he was super excited to sell it, feeling proud he built it and was going to get more parts and keep building them. Imagine how he felt when he saw the beat up box and then opened it.
Now imagine how he felt when he saw Ebay taking the money out of Paypal. No explanation from Ebay. They just said we are in favor of the buyer. EBAY DOESN'T CARE!!! What a joke. The scammer buyer was ** (49 feedback score: 49). We have absolutely no confidence in Ebay anymore, especially after seeing so many complaints from unprotected sellers. They are too big and are screwing up. They need to have a company check out conditions of certain items before a buyer can even pick it up. If there is a complaint still, the buyer should have to take it back to the company quickly and they can make sure it is in the same condition as when it was picked up. I hope there is a huge lawsuit against Ebay.

They always take high fees and they support for big buyers and recently I was selling and having a good experience. They suddenly suspended my account saying that I have been associated with another account who have been suspended in ebay recently. They mean that people should not talk or have any kind of dealing with people who has been suspended. They mean to say that.
We should give all that money to their site and help them become rich. They are really sucks and limits and suspends account without any known reason. All they have to do is ask people who are joining ebay that they know anyone whose account is already suspended. If they do this people will not waste their time with ebay But they don't do. They take our money first and finally kick our back. Hope people reading this will understand that it sucks. Thanks. It my wholehearted wish for ebay to continue this job. Soon they will have people using ebay what they had in 1995. Best wishes for ebay to shut down soon.

I don't know all details due to privacy issues but it appears this man's services were terminated because of 9 complaints and his health issues. eBay has no concern for its sellers and apparently consumers. I first tried trouble shooting as the seller suggested and then tried bringing it to someone to be looked at. It simply did not work. The seller then gave me a return address and said I would be issued a refund when it was received. I returned the item, (I also paid return shipping) and waited for a refund. When I did not receive one, I messaged the seller. After I did not hear back, I tried to open a case with eBay. Since I spent too long trying to work it out with the seller, eBay said it was past their return window and that they could not help. The seller kept the item that was returned and kept my money. I sold an item (engine block) that was $557 and the buyer said it arrived clean, packaged well and as advertised. He said he needed additional parts in order for it to work for his bike and told me to either send him the additional parts or give him a full refund. I explained that I didn't have the parts he needed and I will give him a refund but he would need to send the block back in the same condition he received it in. He sent the block back in the same box but didn't include any of the custom packing material I made for it. Instead, he used three empty soda bottles. When I picked up the box off my porch it clicked and I knew then I had a problem. The cylinder case was bent and cracked. I took pics and sent them to the buyer thru eBay messaging.
I called eBay right then and was told by the representative to escalate the return. Shortly after, eBay sided with the buyer so I appealed (called eBay) and lost because they said the buyer received the item damaged. When I brought the messages where the buyer said it arrived as advertised they changed the reason I lost my appeal to "Item was not as described". I closed my eBay store and ended my listings. eBay will not earn another dime from my efforts unless they reverse their decision.

I have two stores on eBay, selling lots of fine jewelry since 2004, eBay removes all my "top-rated plus seller" titles by prejudicial automatic system from 10/2014. If you are a powerful seller you must understand what I mean -- they can save 20% discount on fees, it's a huge $$ number they cheat every day! They have worst policy against seller. I believe these are violated fair business conduct law, I really hope a lawyer read this and help all our sellers to file a complain!
I have received 100% positive feedback but eBay intentionally asks buyers a few unreasonable questions such as "shipping?", "communication?" next to the feedback column, encourages buyers to choose one defective answer even they just simply leave a positive feedback. No one cannot control shipping speed after item shipped by postal office, eBay use such a reason to "lower seller's performance" -- they count slow shipment as seller's fault even seller provide all evidences, even item shipped in the same day.
Even one item is 100% matching the listing, eBay will force seller to refund the buyer and pay for the return shipping if buyer says "item not as described" causing tons of buyers misuse this "good way," they return items if they don't like them and will pay nothing. Then eBay counts this as seller's fault and lower seller performance again. This is extremely unfair, they always denial seller's appeal.
Terrible feedback feature - no matter the seller does nothing wrong on the transaction but buyer misuse this tool by leaving a neutral feedback, eBay always refuses to remove that, they never look up any evidence. eBay does not state clearly "Top rated plus seller" requirements, they have two or more standards flexible policies: if I have 3% seller rated defects, the system tells me "less than 2% defects" can be met top-rated seller; In the same time, my another account has 6% defects, the system shows "less than 5% defects" can be met. This is totally unfair and fraudulent! I have all evidences to prove my complaints, if you are a seller and have same opinion or you are a lawyer and interested in our cases, please kindly drop me a line at **. She had the bracelet for over a week and then without contacting me she opens a case against me. When I got an email from eBay that case opened I sent message to the buyer asking why she never contacted me and because she had a bracelet in her possession for over a week we will have to send the bracelet to the independent jeweler to check the diamonds and the overall condition of a bracelet. The buyer claims that the bracelet is wrong size and she does not like the closure.
On the item description she was able to see clearly the size of the bracelet and the pictures of the bracelet from different angles. (In my opinion, she just need it to wear it once and she does not need it any longer). Next day I made a purchase and need it to make a payment with PayPal, I sign in and I saw that eBay without letting me know and my permission placed on hold over $2000 of my money. I ** retired in July 2008, as a Detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after 24 years of service. After retirement I began to shopping and hoarding the items for years. I found enjoyment in repairing items, and selling them on EBay for a reasonable price often for what I paid and even less in an effort to help out buyers to obtain what they were looking for at great prices. After selling for a few years I earned EBay's top rated plus seller status.
On Oct 23, 2014 I sold a Rolex Watch for what I purchased it for 5,800, I was somewhat reluctant to sell the watch to the Buyer as he had the same Model listed for sale and was curious as to why he wanted to buy mine. I contacted the buyer and we had about an hour of conversation. The conversation answered a few questions and I agreed to ship the watch on the day he requested approx. four days after the sale. I then read all the available policies that EBay and PayPal had in the agreements the sellers and Buyer have access to. I decided that as a top Rated seller with seller protection that I would be covered and shipped the Rolex with insurance and a signature required by the buyer upon delivery. I checked with the buyer to make sure he was satisfied with his purchase as it showed Delivered on the Postal website.
The buyer claimed he never received the watch. The postal Service was contacted and I was informed the package was delivered but was left at the buyer's front door. This was on Oct 27, I contacted Ebay as did the buyer and was told after two days that they sided with the Buyer and was told by eBay they refunded the buyers 5800.00 plus the shipping of which I paid for and I now owed what they refunded plus all the fees. I sent them the postal receipts, showing I shipped the item, and has the signature required on the insured package. This was everything that Both Ebay and PayPal required of a top rated seller to be protected by the seller protection requirement. But ebay resolution center and an email from the Ebay Executive continued to tell me I owed them the money.
I contacted PayPal's Resolution Center and they quickly refunded the seller's fees and initially sided with me under their seller Protection Policy sending EBay the Money Then for whatever reason, I later learned the funds to resolve this were returned to PayPal from EBay and eBay kept the refund given to me under the seller protection policy of Paypal and any funds put into my paypal account would be transfer directly to EBay. I was told by an EBay account resolution person I didn't owe them anything and when asked for additional information as to who put in the notations I owe nothing was only told "why do you want that you don't owe?" Well in February 2015 I start getting bills from Ebay for the 5,800 plus the shipping for the Item.
After exhausting both eBay appeals, Under seller protection my account has been suspended and the bill has been turned over to collections. EBay failed to do any type of investigation into the matter. The location of the buyer has cameras, a timeline wasn't looked into, nothing just a decision based on buyer protection. The Post Office was also informed and reports were done at the time of the loss. After 5 months of appeals to the post office they have accepted responsibility for the Violations of the carrier and I'm sure the Federal Postal inspectors did a very in depth investigation. My complaint is simple EBay has my account suspended and in collections. All this after I sent them all my documentation receipts showing signature required, the shipping receipts, but they request a signature card I can't provide because of a carrier who failed to get one.
So unless I give them 5,800 plus the shipping they paid the buyer of which I paid. My account is suspended I can't buy or sell, and the collection agency is now attempting to collect from me. This is my complaint. I'm not looking for any compensation other than what is right. If EBay and paypal indicate a seller is protected then my account suspension should of never happened and my seller status of Top rated returned Since I was paid. I'm only made to be the Victim by EBay. EBay needs to properly investigate the incidents or many others will become victims. This is so very wrong on EBay's Part.

NEVER SELL ON EBAY. Ebay is a horrible site to sell on. Between additional charges, selling merchandise, handling buyers, and lack of information provided to seller. This site will deduct an automatic $1.00 from each item sold. Then as the end of the month they will deduct another 10% of the listed amount. So if you do sell, don't sell anything higher than $10.00. Ultimately you are screwed as a seller.
NEVER SELL ON EBAY. Another issue I had is that if the buyer claims to have not received an item, Ebay will provide you restrictive options to work out the problems. The opportunity to give a full refund or full refund is the worst position for a seller. Then even if a partial refund is agreed between the buyer and seller, the seller must go through PayPal to manage this partial refund. These loopholes or tricks are ridiculous as a seller. The direct connection to PayPal between Ebay make it the worst experience for seller. As a seller tracking an item is impossible to confirm and then they will usually offer suggestions to improve after the seller runs into an issue.
This is the worst selling environment. I have worked with Amazon and they offer a much better understanding for the seller, in their opportunity to solve a problem and manage purchases (even if they take 50% of your profit) it is still better. In conclusion, NEVER SELL ON EBAY.

While the phone package and information all say it is a TracFone, it is really a Net 10 phone. Now granted that is part of TracFone, but you can't use TracFone time cards with Net 10. Also it was a monster problem getting the phone activated. They provide the TracFone number to call, but all the reps kept saying I can't activate because it is a Net 10 phone.

eBay allows buyers to abuse the 'not as described' policy to force sellers to pay return shipping, final value fees, etc. I have sold on eBay for many years (and not without other incidents). I have a positive feedback score of over 900 and didn't have negative feedback before this transaction. The buyer that was sided with only had a feedback score of 27. I offer returns if the buyer pays the return shipping (keep in mind that I still lose the cost of the original shipping). Rather than pay the return shipping a buyer LIED to get free return shipping. EBAY approved this and made me pay all the auction fees, final value fees, the original shipping of $10.15 and the return shipping of $12.87. Note also that the return shipping was higher than what I paid. I filed a dispute with eBay and they sided with the buyer and refunded all the money to the buyer and then charged my Paypal account.
The items I listed were a vintage Cabbage Patch doll, vintage unused Cabbage Patch diapers, and a mixed lot of clothing. I listed the auction as "The clothing lot is mixed. Only a few things are Cabbage Patch brand, others are off brand, some might be hand made, and some are actual baby clothes. The clothing lot varies from great shape to poor shape". Items that were registered Cabbage Patch with lot: green dress, green bonnet, clown pants, clown shirt, clown bow tie, clown mask, and a white shirt. That is 7 items not 2 as the buyer stated. I listed it as THREE, which is below what it actually was. The auction also contained a vintage Cabbage Patch doll as well as 6 new vintage Cabbage patch diapers. The buyer feedback left publicly, "The description of the item was false. Old baby clothes not Cabbage Patch".
The buyer also sent an email to me through email lying and saying I sent them old dirty socks, "If I would have known that you were going to send me a bunch of old baby clothes I would not have purchased the lot of cabbage patch clothes. I have not abused the return policy one bit. Don't send a buyer something you do not advertise, it's fraud. No one would pay $30 for old/dirty socks and baby clothes". There were no socks in that lot. The photographs show this. I have since sent the same lot to another buyer who liked it and left positive feedback.

I have had an eBay store since 2005 and traded successfully with a Top Performance rating for 99% of the time. Things changed in December when we had 2 transactions that apparently rated us Below Standard. We had 2 items bought and paid for on eBay that were unfortunately no longer available. Correspondence and funds were refunded immediately, still maintaining a positive outcome with the customer.
The new rules put in place in July 2014 have now effectively put a successful top rating business OUT OF BUSINESS. My shop has been limited to listing 8 items per month, any sales made the funds are kept for 21 days before release. How eBay can do business like this, is beyond comprehension. To put active businesses out of business does not make sense.
We have been labelled BELOW STANDARD now for 6 months and by the looks of things it won't change any time soon. We have still been trying to sell but with this rating we are no longer attracting any customers. I have spent hours on the phone coupled with corresponding emails but to no avail. The customer service people have been totally unhelpful. To add insult to injury, last month we sold only $139.99 worth of stock and yet eBay charged us $33.25 for doing so. Any other business would be hard pressed to make this sort of margin. My advise is to BOYCOTT them altogether.

I'm very upset with eBay right now. I purchased a watch at an auction on eBay. While I later found it new at an even lower price, I had already paid for it even. However, when it arrived, it was a lot more used than the pictures in the listing showed. I complained to the seller in the UK, and he offered to refund my money and my return shipping fees. He had thought shipping would be about $7, but First Class International was $11.48. I proceeded to return it on May 14, 2015. However, it got stuck in Europe, eventually even returned to the USA before finally returning to the UK and being delivered over a month later.
In the meantime, I opened a case without notifying eBay in order to not lose the option. However, the seller somehow escalated the case to eBay and since it was still in transit, they just closed the case without refunding any of my money, even purchase price and original s/h, violating their guarantee. eBay even removed my negative feedback comment. Moreover, the seller behaved in a fraudulent fashion, ignoring messages and saying I didn't respond to his, lying about it. My credit card company reversed the charges, and I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. However, after 11+ years as an eBay member, I can only say that eBay has become as far from the buyer being king as possible: It's the wild west in there - caveat emptor - let the buyer beware.

eBay arbitrarily removed my listing saying it was not "authentic", without asking me for proof otherwise. I posted the item before Father's Day hoping for a timely sale. But the entire 2 weeks leading up to Father's Day the item was not listed. First time I called, one eBay employee said he would report and get the case investigated. Second time I called, the employee said she doesn't see any record of the complaint at all. Then, instead of saying my item was suspected not to be "authentic", she made up other things saying there was not enough description about it or no picture, which were both untrue!
I offered to show eBay employee and/or buyer proof of authenticity of the item and she said the only way to do it is to publish it on their public website, which I would not do due to privacy protection. It appears there is no clear guideline on how an item can be listed or removed, and there is no timely investigation or customer service if there is a problem.

If you don't want to get screw up do NOT buy foreign items. I had bad experience with eBay buying foreign item: A not as describe listing, seller described an item 18ct but when I got the item it was clearly marked 9ct. I contacted eBay to have this return. They didn't tell me I need a tracking number nor they told me it was going to be so expensive. The postal woman told me to send it trackable it will be $38 + cents so I sent it without tracking number. Item got to its destination base on the post office but because I didn't had a tracking number I lost money and the return shipping total of $155.00.
Then contacted eBay again but there was nothing but a rude biotech telling me "no tracking number" no refund. Although they give me the wrong information about foreign return they did not help. Was it really worth buying on eBay few items were okay but now am done and definitely will not recommend buying on this site lot of overseas scams and eBay does ZERO to help they instead rudely tell you, "we can't do anything for you." Got return receipt with seller's name and address proving I return the item but base on eBay that piece of paper means NOTHING!!! So beware what you're getting yourself into prior buying you may lose more than I did. HORRIBLE SERVICES!!!

I've always ordered from eBay and have always given a positive feedback when reviewing my orders. I've been a loyal customer for three years even gained a blue star for being a good customer. I ordered a gift for my four year old son and realized I did not receive it. I contacted the seller and there was no remorse or understanding that I did not receive the item. How can it be proven that they even sent the item they sent. All they have is a tracking number. There is no signature confirming that I physically received the package. I was treated like a liar. How do I even know what they sent in the mail is what I even ordered?
What if the postman delivered to the wrong house? I checked with neighbors and no one received the package and I was out 19.00 and a birthday gift for my son. eBay sides with the company due to a tracking number and it didn't matter what I was saying. I even sent a message explaining that I was accepting this loss and will no longer order from the company but they deleted my experience from the company website like I didn't have right to voice my opinion on the matter. What's the point of giving a feedback if you can't speak honestly about your experience? Since when does eBay get the right to exclude my opinion when they aren't the ones experiencing it?

I decided to sell my clothes for some extra money because I outgrew a lot of them, and I thought what better site than eBay. Everyone uses it so it seems to work, right? I am so upset to say that I will never use this site AGAIN to sell my clothes! When you list your items, they put you under the impression that their service is completely free and easy to use but using eBay has been nothing but a headache, honestly. After I sold an item, I got an email saying that my monthly invoice was ready for payment. I was outraged! My initial thought was, "Wait, so I DO have to pay to sell my clothes?" When you list items, and before you hit continue, it clearly states that doing so is completely free, and so is relisting, etc. I did some research and apparently there are in fact, hidden fees.
There are fees for relisting your item (Beware: if your item doesn't sell DO NOT RELIST IT ON EBAY)! And they also take out a deduction from what the buyer pays through your PayPal (For example my buyer paid $49.55, so in the end I only got $47.). It seems like nothing but when you have no money to begin with and fees keep being added to your credit card/debit card it's really scary because you do not know if you are going to overdraft with this company! The reason I decided to sell my clothes was because I had no money in my account to begin with!
On top of the hidden fees, there is a "seller protection" policy that states you don't see your money for 21+ days. Um, seller protection? What about buyer protection? What if the customer cancels their order and I'm left with nothing after all the fees and money I had to dig out of pocket for just for them to receive this item, in which in the end I got scammed for? Or what if they claim the item was not as expected when it really is? Or they request for me to cancel the shipment because it is taking too long (I do not feel comfortable shipping out an item when my money has not processed into my bank account.)?
If you are going to use a site/company to sell your clothes, use Vinted. At least they state from the moment you are about to list your item, that they in fact take a percentage out for their business, and they tell you HOW MUCH at that! Going into eBay and selling clothes was like walking blindfolded into a maze. I wasn't aware of how much they were taking out, when they would take it out or if they would allow me to pay it myself. I had $5 in my account one day, then about a week later I had $1. REALLY cutting it close to overdrafting which made me LIVID! I hope eBay listens to seller complaints because I really feel it's the sellers who have the most trouble with this selling company.
If you really do your research, there are a LOT of complaints against this company and whether they choose to listen or not will truly show what type of business they are. The fact that they have access to my PayPal, bank information, and credit card information is really scary due to the fact that they are being really sneaky with my money! I will be cancelling my account ASAP once I receive payment from my buyer. I am truly worried about my money at this point and don't want any more of my hard earned money to be withdrawn from my account without my knowing!! If you are going to charge to sell, state it from the BEGINNING and don't lead people on and have them think this is free when it is not!

Since Nov last year, seller will be paying for return shipping if buyer unilaterally decides that item received is "not as described." This is kind of over-protection for buyers, too subjective & vague (independent 3rd party highly recommended). Sometimes, the defects can be due to shipping.... In the past, buyer will cooperate with seller to file a claim with courier (awaiting physical inspection if required). eBay one way feedback has also triggered buyer to nail seller for a discount to avoid negative feedback. 90% of powersellers in my areas had left eBay & had been experimenting with etsy, ioffer, craigslist....... As such, eBay has alienated themselves with most sellers who have been providing unique items on their shelves at great discounted prices. eBay has been laying off 2400-3000 employees this year. I always get my shipments through my mailing box and I'm the only one who has the key. The seller refused to work with me. eBay took down my bad reviews on the seller and sided with them. You would think after spending thousand of dollars on eBay for many years, a $10 transaction, they will take care of it. This is a very greedy corporation. Therefore, I decided to close my account.
I would highly recommend who purchase on eBay online is to think twice before purchasing. Yes, I thought ordering online would be a good idea since I don't have time to shop around on local stores. I'm an active buyer and looking back, I have lost more money trying to be cheeped by ordering online. My resolution is to purchase from the local stores. When I attempted, as per eBay's own published and clearly stated policy, to appeal the decision, I was told I could not appeal and that I needed to refund the buyer. eBay then would not provide any way to even contact them, other than by telephone, to dispute their decision. So there is no apparent way to actually contact eBay in writing and my only recourse is to tell the collection agency that I dispute eBay's claim. Despite all eBay's claims to protect sellers, my experience is that they do absolutely nothing whatsoever to protect their sellers. The delivery status was both packages were delivered on such and such date at such and such time (I signed for them), so it couldn't have been any other seller as they were the only ones I bought roses from at that time. They sent me 30 white in a box which was fine and like I ordered, but the second package was 48 like I ordered but WHITE. These flowers I needed for my bouquet for my wedding in 2 months time!!! When I tried to sort it out with them they gave me the runaround.
Told me they would send me the 48 red fake roses free of charge if I sent them pictures to prove that they were all white. Ok fine so I did. Then they told me to take more pictures to make sure the numbers were right. Ok fine did that. Then they asked me if I bought from another seller which at this point it's been a week/week and a half of this so I ordered a few red roses (50 red from one other seller and 12 red from another seller ) because I'm not going without flowers for my wedding. So I took some pictures of my orders and delivery times for all the rose orders I placed. Theirs were still the only ones I had received at that time and the dates/times of delivery matched up with their delivery dates as posted from the post office. Plus they were the only ones I ordered those amounts of each color (30 white and 48 red) and I received 30 white in a box and 48 white again in a bag.
Now I could understand if I ordered those amounts from someone else but I didn't. I'm truly unhappy about eBay, both as seller and as a buyer as well. As a seller, I'm not able to post negative feedback to a buyer who did not even pay for the item, which is a common procedure in any credit transactions, not to mention that it would also warn other sellers not to sell to them. As a buyer... eBay's customer service is handled mostly by Asians that many times are not that familiar with the English language, and nevertheless are allowed to make decisions on the so called "Customer's Support Satisfaction"... And that's what happened to me. The new eBay's seller, **, added $10.00 more than what was stipulated for S/H after the auction was over, which could never be allowed by eBay in the first place. I've contacted the seller about this, and was told that she made a mistake about the S/H charges, and I've courteously agreed to take a $6.16 refund, which she never did.
So the item arrived, and it was not at all "New" as advertised. It had many issues, so I've filed a return action on eBay... Apparently, the eBay's representative who decided in "my favor" had no knowledge at all of past and present verb tenses, and sent me the "good news" that the $6.16 refund was posted to my PayPal account and the case was closed. And all I wanted was to return the item! Then I've spent about one hour on the phone with eBay about this issue until I was finally told that the claim was closed, and there was nothing else that they could do about it! I've been buying more and more from Amazon, and never had any problems at all with it... No wonder eBay is losing more and more customers. Now I have to learn how to sell on the Amazon site.

Buyer refund my item which she described electronic hair remover has defect and overheat but actually I tested and make sure item properly before sell, and mention that item cannot be refunded because I always on business trip. Finally eBay still refund to her.
Alright, I had nothing to say, I was thinking maybe she doesn't like the product but I still keep for myself. After 10 days buyer said to returned product, but I still didn't receive. When I said to eBay item return not received, so I appealed. eBay decided not refund me final listing charge $38.06 because I didn't provide valid shipping address which actually I had and registered since almost 8 years ago.
Two days later after I appeal, I got the item back, so what does that means? eBay community group is not really to solving my problem, not solving problem individually to seller, it just reply typical answer to any seller to appeal. eBay no longer holds sellers to it policies and are letting them get away with fraudulent advertising. According to the support operators they only investigate sellers if at least five complaints are lodged allowing the sellers to rip off buyers. They have changed their Money Back Guarantee. In small print it states "on virtually every item" and lets the seller decide the outcome and makes the buyer contact the seller, as well sellers can opt out of the Money Back Guarantee. Their new rules and regulations are ambiguous and they refuse to give out printable copies of them. Their support line operators are located in the Philippines and do not know what they are doing and cannot even answer the simplest of questions.
eBay is going down hill fast and I predict that they will soon be going out of business so sell your garbage fast before they do. eBay Inc. Headquarters 2065 Hamilton Avenue San Jose, California 95125 (800) 322-9266, (408) 376-7400, are unreachable. They do not respond to email and the telephone numbers are an endless loop recording. I have asked for contact information from their Customer Support Operators and am then redirected back to their Customer Support Line. Why are they hiding and what are they hiding from. If they do not get their act back together, PayPal will soon stop letting them use their service.
Recently to resolve a claim I had to contact PayPal and was told that their lines have recently been inundated by eBay customers who are left with no other options to get their money back since eBay will no longer file any complaints against its sellers. Amazon is now taking eBay's customers and will soon dominate the online sales business and good for them.

eBay failed to cover me with its eBay Seller Protection though I provided evidence to support the buyer filing a claim against me was in the wrong. I sold an AT&T Windows Tablet on eBay 04/14/15. The auction was listed as a refurbished tablet which was unlocked by AT&T so the purchaser could use it on whichever cellular service they so choose. My auction specifically stated "NO RETURNS" as well as "I will provide you unlock instructions after payment is received." Which I clearly did. Since the customer does not speak English, they did not understand the unlock instructions and opened a claim against me May 19th, over 30 days after the sale (that's not even allowed in retail stores!), claiming that the device was not unlocked.
I attached clear and convincing evidence STRAIGHT from AT&T's website where you can check the unlock status of your device which shows the item IS, in fact, unlocked. I also attached information regarding the warranty showing that if there was anything wrong with the device itself, the buyer needed to contact SquareTrade as there was nothing wrong with it when it was shipped to the buyer. I highlighted on several points, including how the buyer kept changing their story. On May 19th, the buyer told me that he was traveling to Africa. On May 22nd, the buyer told me that he was going to be shipping the device to Africa. I noted that I was worried this was a scam as the buyer could not keep his story straight.
I attached screenshots to eBay showing that I contacted AT&T and had an 11 minute conversation on May 18th with AT&T at 8:55AM to confirm, yet again, that the device was in fact unlocked. I also went OUT OF MY WAY to travel to the AT&T store to provide my ID to the AT&T customer service representatives to prove that the item was unlocked. Again, the rep confirmed the item was in fact unlocked. I called eBay explaining that I've never had any issues since 2008, and I'm concerned that this buyer will tarnish my perfect reputation with a scam. I asked the eBay rep to review the information, and he told me that he felt - due to the information that I had attached - that I would win the case.
I received an update to eBay, after all of this evidence showing the item was sold as described and that it was, in fact, unlocked... and eBay notified me that they sided in favor of the buyer. When I called eBay's customer service to ask for an explanation they said because the device was locked. I told the rep that was untrue and stated to them "So you clearly ignore the images that I attached SHOWING you that the device is UNLOCKED." And eBay forced me to take the item back and refund the buyer $285. Where is my protection as a seller? I took a video of me receiving the tablet back from the buyer, **. It shows me opening the box for the first time and shows the item in perfect working condition. One thing, though... he didn't transfer the warranty back to my name - which was part of the auction.
If I sold you the warranty, then when you make a return... you need to transfer it back. I included images of emails where I notified the seller that he did not send me my warranty back... as well as his response denying he has it... and proof, from SquareTrade, that the warranty is in fact in his name. I also included images of the item as I turned it on - showing it is working - as well as an image of the back of the item proving the IMEI number is the correct number used in the screenshot of the AT&T website where the status shows the item as unlocked.
I also wanted to add that I contacted eBay, as I was instructed to do once I received the item back, to file an appeal... and they will not let me. I notified the woman that it was not right that eBay automatically refunds the buyer money as soon as the shipping status says "DELIVERED" without actually checking to make sure the seller received their item back. The buyer could have easily sent me back an empty box and they wouldn't have cared, and she told me this. She said they do not cover that. She also told me that they don't care if I attach images or video as evidence... so I asked her why even bother having the upload button to provide proof?
Something is seriously wrong with the eBay policy, and they need to fix it. Why is the seller, who clearly lied, protected... but the buyer, who has a squeaky clean reputation since 2008 with 0 negative feedback, not? I sincerely hope that eBay will resolve my personal issue, as well as the issues with their policy. I definitely will rethink using them again in the future, and will make sure all of my friends and family know just how horrible their "protection" is.

Hi, I have been a seller on Ebay for 4+ years. This started out as a beautiful business venture for me in the beginning but has turned into a nightmare in the past year. Ebay is controlling our visibility, big time. I used to sell $1,500.00 to $3,0000.00 per month, now I definitely am being controlled by their new visibility mechanism, software, etc. They have levels for everything. Why should I be charged the same as someone who they decides deserves more visibility.
This should be against the law, plus they charge a high percentage on the customers shipping money even when I do not abuse what I charge. Also very rarely do they stand by their seller who provides the product. TOTALLY DISGUSTING!!! I am just waiting for the day they are under fair scrutiny or just go out of business because of their greed. It might be working for them now, but I highly believe it will catch up with them in the end.

I purchased a HTC Flyer P510e tablet on 5 May 2015. By 11 May, we had already observed and reported software problems to the seller with the intention of returning the item. I had already contacted HTC Corporation by this date, who assured me that there was nothing they could do. While awaiting for eBay to resolve the return request, we received a system update & the tablet started functioning in as normal of a manner as would be expected. After observing the tablet's stability for a couple of days, I closed the return request on 15 May. Around 18 May, another update was provided by HTC at which point I updated & the tablet crashed; never to start again.
After trying to resolve this new found problem with HTC from that day till 27 May, they say that: 1) Tablet sold to me is considered a refurbished unit (though seller claims it was new & sealed), hence cannot warranty; and 2) Item is very old model & beyond warranty date, hence cannot touch it. So, I relayed this information to eBay who tell me that, "Since you closed the case, we cannot do anything for you now. Try to dispute the transaction with PayPal". Since I seem to be having trouble creating a transaction dispute at PayPal regarding this transaction, I decide it may be easier to call them.
After a long story, they tell me that I need to go through eBay because 'they are tied together'. I asked eBay, "Where in your documentation does it show that if a customer is within their return claim dates, that they cannot open a return request that was previously closed?". No concise answer, just, "We are sorry, cannot do anything more for you"....which I see as, "You are SOL sir!". So, buyer is not always right - be warned.

The ad also stated in bold, larger than average type, 'ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS... LOOK LONG AND HARD AT PHOTOS... ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO RETURNS!! THE BUYER NEVER CONTACTED ME OR ASK ANY QUESTIONS, and this same ad ran for several months, with other potential buyers asking questions and making contact with me.
I had lots of very clear photos, front and back covers. The buyer decided he couldn't do a quick flip and a quick profit, so he wanted to return the comics. I said no, and he cried to eBay. I contacted eBay at least a dozen times, and was told they understood, but could only go by what the 'BUYER' said and his photos??? The buyer was trying to pull the old switch-a-roo, and show eBay a photo of a comic that was clearly not even mine with pages cut out?? eBay took his word for it, withdrew the total amount plus shipping from my bank account!!!

I've been an eBay member since 2004 and has a 100% positive ratings with over 500 transactions. I use eBay in buying goods and selling authentic designer items. I sold a brand new, authentic Chanel jumbo caviar for $5500 but the buyer decided to return it, saying he went to Chanel store and was told it's a fake. I am 1 million percent sure it is authentic. Unfortunately, I don't have the receipt.
I agreed to take it back if he could prove it was a fake but he did not present evidence that he had it authenticated. I, on the other hand, paid and asked a respected authorized Chanel authenticator online to authenticate. And they did confirm its authenticity and forwarded the findings to the buyer and eBay. I decided to refuse the return since I am not sure if I will get my bag back in the same brand new condition as when I shipped it out or it might arrive damaged. My listing also says "No returns accepted" though I would take it back if proven it's not as described.
When I called eBay to look into it, they just said they will automatically decide in the buyer's favor without even hearing my side and that I must pay for the return label! And if I don't do so, they will refund the buyer against my will and let him keep the bag! The agent said that since the company (Chanel) doesn't authenticate (exactly my point, that's why I know the buyer was lying when he said he went to Chanel), they have no way to validate my claim and eBay does not recognize third party authenticators.
So now I have to pay for the return's shipping label aside from the $100 that I already paid when I shipped it to the buyer. I'm not even sure if I will get my bag back or not and if it is still in the same brand new condition. I am really disgusted with the way eBay made me feel. It seems that I don't have a right at all as a seller even with the proofs I presented. They wouldn't even review the case even though it is a high value transaction. I will respect the decision if I know it is a fair game and they analyze the situation properly before making a judgment. But they just told me that I should not have let the agent escalated my case because it will be automatically in the buyer's favor. What kind of reasoning is that?! Why did they give an option that they will step in and review the case if no action exists? I wish I could sue them to make them change their ways in dealing with complaints.

My fellow American citizen seems more concerned with her own ego than in solving the problem. Her passive aggression was palpable. If I was permitted to record the conversation it would be apparent to any supervisor that she relished every moment of being snarky and obnoxious. ** wouldn't provide any identification and when I asked to record the remaining conversation she instructed me not to or she would immediate the call already lasting twenty five minutes. I complied and did not capture her very insulting, condescending conversation. She stopped short of using foul language, but I would actually have preferred profanity to her non constructive and dismissive attitude. After more than 45 minutes on the phone nothing was resolved on this case.
"You've reached a temporary buying restriction. It looks like you're unable to purchase this item at this time. To help prevent unpaid items, we restrict the number of auctions where a buyer is the highest bidder. If you're outbid on one of your auctions, you'll be able to bid on this or other items. Alternately, to purchase this or other items, click the Add to cart or Buy It Now button in the listing, and pay for your item". Example of snarky. I felt I needed to let Ms. ** know I was a long time customer with 400+ 100% positive feedback rating (why she could not see this on her end was a mystery to me). When I misspoke saying customer since 1979 instead of 1999 she immediately accused me of lying and trying to misrepresent myself. She retorted, "We haven't been in business since 1979". We'll excuse me, Ms. **, I was born in 1957 and I make errors. I know that the internet wasn't popularized until the mid 1990s.
Still my question remained unanswered. ** seems more concerned with her personal ego and maintaining her anonymity. You folks really should monitor some of your associates. They couldn't do a better job of frustrating your customers. I will post my experience to as many blogs and websites as I can find. Not that it would do any good. I might as well be complaining about Google, Facebook or Twitter. I sure do wish now that there was a marketplace alternative to eBay. It seems if you get too good of a deal seller doesn't have to send product if they wish not to. No wonder Walmart strives so well. If not happy you do get your money back. EBay sides with the sellers so much to keep that money that they will always side with them. The seller even threatened and told me they would just because of this. He was right. Total of just shy of $300 and so far eBay refused money return on damaged product and nothing done after going on 3 weeks of no product. The businessmen are the crooks it seems to be.
I've had better luck on craigslist with the public than eBay. I'm probably definitely done with eBay. Like other poster said just recently they are greedy and really only out for their sellers. The glasses did not have scratches when I shipped them and had pictures on my listing that even eBay said they looked good. I sold an item on April 14th and shipped it that same day. On April 19th, the buyer filed a claim that the item wasn't received (which was way early to do). The item was CONFIRMED DELIVERED on April 20th. On May 19th, I noticed the buyer hadn't closed the claim and called eBay and asked what to do as the buyer was not closing the claim he or she filed. I was told to initiate the case to close and "that they would review all the facts and make a decision." That was untrue. NO ONE REVIEWED THE FACTS and eBay immediately issued a refund to the buyer. When I called in to discuss this, I was repeatedly told "the SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY closed the case." WOW. So in other words, eBay essentially communicated to this buyer that all he or she needs to to do is file a claim that an item isn't received (even if the item isn't late), and even if the item arrives, do nothing and receive a full refund!
The other message is that a HUMAN will NOT review the facts but rather a computer program command will automatically refund a fraudulent buyer. I'd read all the warnings from spurned sellers and hoped and prayed my store wouldn't be scammed. eBay CSRs will come up with all kinds of excuses but the truth is when shopping on other retail sites like Macy's, I cannot contact them, say the item didn't arrive when it did, and receive an immediate refund. I cannot tell them the item arrived damaged, and not prove it and receive a full refund. I cannot order the wrong size, blame them, keep the item and receive a full refund. NOPE, you can only get away with it on eBay. Worse, eBay disallows sellers from leaving BAD BUYERS BAD FEEDBACK. eBay has created a website that has attracted thieves and scammers by making it very easy for them to steal from honest sellers (who pay good money to sell).
I will NOT include an item number with this review so my remaining items will not turn up in search results. I learned today that eBay is NOT AN HONEST COMPANY. I paid good money to sell my remaining items and have clearly lost enough.

I then said when I get the ring back I will fully refund. Her response was "okie dokie!!" Within 3 days she opened up a case with Ebay. Of course they sent her an immediate refund. They emailed me that THEY Ebay did this and I was NOT responsible and owed nothing.
Meanwhile I never received my ring back. Paypal had put a hold on my money and it never was credited back to me. This all happened around April 25th. After calling eBay 6 times and Paypal no one can help. I now have what says $35 not received on my selling page. All of my transactions have been completed. NO one has helped me as to where my missing funds are; and, why ebay didn't release my money from ring to my Paypal.
I am befuddled as to how large companies get away with kind of behavior unconceived. If I tried to pull off some of these shenanigans, I'd be put out of business. One last thing they charge final value fees on my shipping costs. That seems illegal to me. Customer service is such a joke. Signing off now.

eBay continues to allow sellers to list items marked as new, but when you get them they are used. There is always an excuse by the sellers as well. Sellers claim they opened the package to find out if the item works, but this is a lie. I have bought a Wii U controller and the listing says it is new with batteries included. But, when I got the item the box was clearly opened at the top and didn't include batteries. The seller had a lot of complaints and constantly blames the buyer. Also, eBay knew that this seller had complaints about items listed as new, but the items were used or broke. The seller had a 99% positive rating which is clearly a lie because of the complaints listed.
Another issue is that I just bought last week a new Wii U game and it was marked as sealed, but I received it today and it is opened and used. The listing said it was brand new and shrink wrapped. The user had a 98% positive rating, but again this is a lie because the seller has lots of complaints. I tried to contact eBay to file a complaint against eBay, but there is no online form. Since this is the second time this month that I have had issues with an item. As a result, I am filing a complaint with the Senator's office in California.
eBay already has a class action lawsuit against seller fees and sellers who send the item, but the buyer says they never received it and keep the item without any penalties. eBay is nothing more than a trashy flea market just like those seen in run down towns where junk is sold. It is below a flea market.

The second time around I noticed (yes, I had to notice stuff myself because eBay doesn't send you updated every step of the way) that it says that the item was delivered and the FedEx reports states that it was left by the door, signature not required. I obviously didn't understand what it meant since I didn't receive it and asked to receive a refund. eBay decided not to give me a refund because they "received tracking information from the seller that shows the item was delivered to your address". They decided to create an automated seller rating score engine that measured how a seller was performing based on things like entering UPS tracking number on the eBay sale record, no returns or canceled order, even if it was request by customer, any customer calling in or writing eBay about a sale automatically counted against the seller's performance, even if everything was ok. Thus the "New Seller Performance Level" was created.
We were a top performer for many years while business was booming. We sold 100+ units a month and all was good. Then over the last couple months sales dropped dramatically to only a couple dozen units, so any issue related to a transaction took on a higher percentage of sales. If we sell 100 units and have 2 issues, this isn't a perfect world, our rating wasn't affected, since 98% of our sales were good, only 2% had issues. Now with only 10 sales over the last month, having 2 issues with the units, caused our issue percent to jump to 20% of sales, so even with 100% positive feedback, all customers happy, we get slapped in the face by eBay by them giving us a "Below Standard" seller rating.
They immediately limited the number of listings we could have, they withheld the funds of the items we did sell for 21 days before releasing them to us, at the same the customer having paid for the item didn't know why we didn't ship the topper when their payment was completed. Who ships a $200 product before receiving the money. To add insult to injury, #eBay was demanding payment of their fees. Our family run business cash flow literally came to screeching halt. Numerous calls to eBay pleading for them to allow us to sell our items and release the funds from our previous sales were denied since the Performance Score determined by the computer program had our account limited and flagged our funds to be held for 21 days, because we had a Below Standard score.
We only sell memory foam toppers, they are very simple slabs of memory foam that customers use to sleep better at night. All our feedback from customers say how much they love our product and service. You may ask, why not provide eBay with UPS tracking number like they requested, well the moment I print a UPS label with Worldship and close End-of-Day, all tracking information is automatically emailed to my customer. They are the ones that need the information, not eBay.
I will use this forum to provide updates as to what eBay's response and actions will be going forward. Will they drive us out of business, since we have all our eggs in one basket, eBay's and PayPal basket. Or will they decide that the customer is the one that should rate a seller's performance based on the service and product quality, not some analytics report based on eBay seller activity or lack of. I realize that this post only recommends 800 words but as you may guess my wife and I are very upset with eBay's new performance scoring engine. If others have felt the same "heavy hand" of eBay/PayPal enforcer, please leave your comments.
Thanks for reading and I hope that through the power of the internet we can let #eBay know that, what is important, is customer satisfaction and product quality and service, not eBay satisfaction. They are only there to service the sellers and customers, they are not here to dictate how our business should be conducted. If I wanted to be told how to do business I would get a job with a company, this is a free world and this is what free enterprise is all about. eBay members vote with their feedback, it is unfair to have customers telling eBay on one hand that they are 100% happy customers and then on the other hand have eBay rate you as Below Standard. I have attached a picture below of our only product offering. We are very close to being out of business, thanks to eBay's callus and non-personal evaluation of sellers.

When the bike arrived it was nothing like the pictures. They properly took those pictures in beauty mode. I couldn't get it to pass NY DMV inspection because of brakes lights was not hooked up and wiring problems. The mechanic said the bike was use on the tracks. I called eBay and they told me it nothing they can do because the vehicle is more than ten years old and not covered under their vehicle protection plan. I tried PayPal for help because they was use for the payment, no help there as well. So am stock to fix the problem is about 800 dollars. I left a negative feedback on the seller. He claimed not as described. He had the item for 3 weeks. eBay refunded the money (over $350 plus shipping) and I was not given a chance to say a word. The buyer had opened his account the day he purchased the item so obviously had 0 feedback. I have over 950 feedbacks at 100% positive. Top-rated seller, 5 stars, etc. I've been a member for 15 years. Essentially, I was robbed and there is nothing I can do about it. Never mind the ridiculously high fees. Also, FEES ON SHIPPING costs. eBay wouldn't be in business without sellers! They constantly get more greedy by removing free re-listings, now they have shrunk down the free monthly listings of 50/50 to 20/20. They make enough money! Why the hell can't they just do free listings and make money on all the sales?! Sellers deserve more! Sellers cannot even leave real feedback about a-hole buyers who screw them over and it's unjustified. It is not fair at all and just like lame-ass yelp, they cater to customers but wouldn't have a site without business owners. Maybe eBay should see how many other sites are out there and eventually one will take all their customers. Nobody likes a greedy business.

I requested mediation to resolve the issue and was told to close the account if I was not happy with the transaction. I left feedback for the seller and eBay promptly removed the feedback. I'm a seller on eBay and I have 100% feedback and I've worked very hard to maintain that record because any little ding and eBay deducts points… About a week ago I had a Buyer with a 100% feedback purchase 2 items from me and refuse to pay $160. I notified eBay and filed a claim and nothing was done to help me the seller. I saw in this person's account that 2 other sellers complained of the same thing... NON PAYMENT.
I contacted both of them after talking to eBay and they told me eBay did nothing to help them recoup their money. eBay said they would take it to management and fix it immediately and a week later and nothing has been done, he still maintains a 100% feedback and I still don't have my money for the auctions I held on eBay. eBay DID NOT REACH INTO HIS PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND TAKE MY MONEY FOR ME THE SELLER, LIKE THEY DO TO ME WHEN THEY WANT TO PAY THEMSELVES!!! Please read on…
A couple days ago eBay went into my PayPal account and just took money without my knowledge or permission and I did not have an auto transfer set up with them, I purposely cancelled it over a year ago. Yet "somehow" because they own PayPal, eBay was able to just reach into my PayPal Account and TAKE $59 from a sale that just took place for $108, leaving me with $49 in my account. I called PayPal and eBay about the $59 and they did nothing to help me. They said I owed eBay fees. I said I was planning to pay them on May 1st when I get paid, yet they just helped themselves to money that was NOT allotted for them.
Knowing I was getting nowhere and that I had a package to ship and a water bill to pay, I tried to transfer the remaining 49 into my bank account on April 27th. When the $49 didn't arrive in my account I looked at PayPal again and saw that the money had been "REVERSED", stating transfer problems. So on 4/28 I tried it again and AGAIN it was "REVERSED" back to PayPal. In further checking I see that today 4/29 my customer has filed a dispute for "Non Shipment". I told eBay this was going to happen, the money they took was for shipping and my water bill!!!
eBay did nothing to help me the seller yet when the buyer says he didn't get the package eBay went into my account again and pulled my last $49 that they have been blocking from my transfer to my bank for two days now, 4/27 and 4/28. And the claim didn't happen until 4/29. Why did eBay block my transfer for two days??? I could have had this package sent and my water bill paid by now and there wouldn't be a problem.
eBay caused the problem and now they are blaming me, and ruining my sale record with my customers, and on top of this my water was shut off this morning and I don't get paid until May 1st. I called PayPal, they transferred me to eBay. I talked to 2 people at eBay and nothing to help me the seller! They told me I could do a chargeback from my bank for the money eBay took but then they would… get this… suspend me from eBay. Are you ** me!!! So I'm left without water until May 1st and my customer doesn't have his package and I'm $80 in the RED with PayPal due to the non shipping claim. eBay RUINS LIVES and doesn't give a CRAP!!

I don't want to turn readers away by sounding like some extremist, giving the impression I'm someone who might be angry for no reason, but I am as upset as I've ever been in my life, & I believe it's for perfectly legitimate reasons. eBay's new seller standards are grossly unjust, either poorly or dishonestly considered, & negligent in their destruction of people's lives. In short, what eBay is doing is SICK. I've invested 20 years in learning this business, w/ no warning that eBay would turn on me as a seller the way they have, & rate my performance as 'below standard', because I did NICE things for my customers, like cancel a couple deals w/ people who said they "hit the wrong button", &/or because of USPS/customs issues I have NO CONTROL over whatsoever.
I have practiced 100% honesty since the year 2000, always refunding all shipping costs if an item was not 'as described', or was damaged in transit, & I did this for about 12 years before it became required practice. I even once mailed an item I'd sold for $1.99, despite having learned subsequent to sale that it was worth $1400, because THAT'S honest, & was supposed to be part of the fun of "The World's Largest Garage Sale". Now, eBay thanks me for my years BUILDING THEIR SITE W/ MY EXCELLENT SERVICE, by making it impossible for anyone not drop-shipping brand new items to have a good seller rating, no matter how great their feedback, or how honestly they run their business???
I am a 40 year old man who hadn't wept in 30 years, but lately I've done a great deal of it. My family has been financially devastated by limits on our account, & eBay holding payments for up to three weeks - including shipping, meaning we have to front those costs!!?? Even though NO CUSTOMER OF MINE HAS EVER LOST $1 W/O RECEIVING THE ITEM DESCRIBED/PICTURED IN THE LISTING! And I just keep on getting dinged w/ more & more strikes that have nothing to do w/ my actions. I hope eBay goes out of business entirely, & that every employee who supports their sick new policy loses as much as I, & many other honest sellers are.
It became clear how much contempt eBay has for the sellers who built their site, when they took away our ability to leave anything but meaningless fluff for feedback for buyers, & that contempt became jaw dropping when they applied their idiotic return policies & invited buyer fraud... but I'll repeat- what they've done now is SICK, & NEGLIGENT, & although I never have, & never thought I would sue anyone in my life, I'm seeking every avenue I can to sue eBay for every dishonest, rotten dime they've ever made.

I have been using eBay since 2002. I sell a few things here and there, but have bought on eBay quite often. I started having problems with selling at the end of 2013. A buyer, I know, was trying to scam me. First, they make me a low offer on an item for sale that comes with free economy shipping. I accept it as I have been unable to work since 2013 and need the money. Then, after I accept the offer, they tell me they need it sent expedited shipping to have it for Christmas. I thought about cancelling the transaction because between expedited shipping and eBay and PayPal fees, I wasn't really getting any money, and I had a bad feeling about the transaction. A legitimate buyer would ask for these things before making a low offer, not demanding it after. Unfortunately, I went ahead with the order and sent it to them with priority shipping trying to please the customer.
Then, I get a message from eBay stating that a buyer had opened a case against me stating the item was not as described. They claimed one of the pieces was broken. First, the item was not broken when I shipped it. It had insurance through the shipping carrier. The buyer never tried to contact me, just automatically disputed it with eBay. The buyer said the item was a worthless piece of junk and other trash talk about how awful it was. Through the Resolution Center I offered the buyer a full refund once the item was returned to me. The buyer said no they wanted to keep the item to give them a partial refund. I was already just breaking even on it thanks to the upgrade in shipping and losing if you considered my original cost when I bought it new and never used it. I ended up offering them a partial refund, but Paypal defaulted to a closed card instead of the one I had been actively using.
In the end, PayPal paid the buyer a full refund for "their" trouble, and did not charge me due to the mix up on my account. This was my first known encounter with a scammer buyer. In the end, it still cost me days of stress, worry, and hours on the phone trying to resolve all of it. Since then, I have fell prey to more of these buyers that make low offers and then hold you over the fire to use more expensive shipping out of my pocket. I am currently dealing with another scammer buyer and will post my horrendous experience with this as soon as the case is closed. eBay policies are encouraging buyers to rip off sellers. Especially those of us selling off things we own to make ends meet and are already struggling financially and have enough stress in our lives without falling prey to these scams and eBay's protection to them.

I don't condone this behavior because I think it is illegal and immoral. But here is how the ebay buyer protection policy could help crooked buyers: Free rental of just about anything on ebay. Let's say a crooked buyer needs to rent something (tool, projector, or camera for his upcoming trip or whatever). All the crooked buyer has to do is buy the thing on ebay, use it and then file a claim saying item not as described. Ebay will side with the buyer. Buyer will get all his money back and the seller is screwed. How do you like a new camera for your next underwater trip!
Outright theft of the mechanize: Let's say the crooked buyer needs to replace a broken something (camera, lens, memory in his computer or replace the graphics card, whatever). All the crooked buyer has to do is buy the thing on ebay, swap with the broken item then file a claim saying item not as described. Ebay will side with the buyer. Buyer will get all his money back and the seller is screwed. On top of that the seller has to pay for the return shipment. Not to mention that ebay will collect all the ebay fees regardless.

Ebay is a joke. With their partner PayPal you will pay a 12% fee on what you're selling. They place a bunch of rubbish about buyer and seller protection. In other words making you pay for their policies. Further to this, they make you wait up to a month to get funds released for items sold. Alternatively you need to wait 3 days after goods have been delivered, then wait a further 3-5 business days to get funds from PayPal to your bank. For a business this may be ok. But for an Average Joe like me trying to sell some gear I don't use at home it's ridiculous.
The overall fee on goods selling (not listing) is great for Asian factories that list 40 x $5 iPhone cases for free. It floods the website with cheap crap nobody wants. For a non-business user, this attracts high fees, a bad experience and the worst offshore customer support, i.e 'I'm not happy'. Response 'sir, thank you, unfortunately eBay policy is blah blah standard answer rubbish'. I hope these policies stop people from using eBay and allow other services to come through. Ebay do not deserve your money. I don't see them charging a 6% buyer's premium and holding the product until I'm happy the correct person has received it.

When a buyer clicks "Buy" this item, Ebay marks it as sold even though the buyer doesn't pay for it. Then you go through the arduous process of trying to get the "buyer" to actually pay for the item. Meanwhile Ebay makes sure to charge you a 10% seller's fee. Does any other marketplace in the world take an item off the shelf and mark it "sold" without collecting the money for it? This leaves a big hole for the scammer "buyer" to effectively take your product off the market while you wait for 10 days for Ebay to maybe close the case and let you relist it - just to go through the same crap all over again. I already installed the equipment I bought and found one of the cables bad. The buyer will not respond and eBay's system is set up to accommodate returns not partial returns. All I need is a replacement for the bad cable. I have no desire remove all the installed equipment which I already paid to install.

I tried more than a half a dozen times to list an item to sell. They have made it so complicated that after several days I have given up. They asked for a URL address but didn't take what I copied in no matter what. Ebay is no longer user friendly.

Fraudulent Buyer requested a chargeback after he received his item. I am fairly sure what just happened to me is illegal and completely fraudulent. The problem I see now is the eBay account that purchased my item has 3 different names associated with it which is against eBay policy (**). That wasn't available information at the time of sale so I clearly wasn't provided all the details on this buyer. I was basically robbed of an item by this person plus charged a $20 charge back fee from their "cardholder." This was a total scam. They purchased my item and provided me positive feedback after they received the iTunes card I sold to them (item # 261793711106). I sent the card via USPS to them and when they received it they provided positive feedback to me (Very Satisfied).
I provided a tracking number to them as well as to PayPal for this case when I spoke to a representative on the phone but it was lost somewhere in translation or mishandled. I've contacted the USPS but they have no record of it any longer. However I did initially provide it to a PayPal representative. I want my $65 back. I am not going to be at the bad end of a fraudulent eBay user so something needs to be done with this ASAP. I am also currently looking at the regulations for PayPal, as a part of the Federal Government workforce. I will pursue every avenue in this case and will make it my life mission if needed. There are so many things wrong with the way this was handled that I am positive the New York licensing committee for PayPal would love to hear about the details of this case as well. Yes, it's only $65 but it was fraudulently taken from me.
PayPal is still subject to all of the rules and regulations governing the financial industry including the following: the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA Patriot Act, anti-money laundering requirements, Regulation E consumer protections, Office of Foreign Asset Control, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Gramm-Leach-Biley privacy requirements, Credit Card Association Guidelines. Please help me with this. It was fraud, clear and simple.

Recently sold a bass. As soon as buyer received he made claim it was not in the condition as described. He filed a claim and posted photos. I could not believe my eyes. The photos were a completely different bass (see photos of screen captures below). I pointed out ALL of the discrepancies in detail and provided photos of the bass I sold to back up my claims. I told the buyer I would report him for fraud and take legal action. Several days later eBay ruled in his favor as if there were no photos to prove he was a lying, thieving buyer that was obviously planning to fraud me by sending back a guitar I did not send him.
Now I DID take screen shots of the conversation and photos I had with this buyer but when eBay took over the photos disappeared. Now I am supposed to refund this buyer as soon tracking confirms the bass has arrived. I emptied my PayPal account and only have Bill Me Later (Paypal Credit) to pay this so-called binding refund. I am completely disgusted. The photos were so obvious. I never in a million years thought he would win.
This is ridiculous and someone out there has to file a class action suit with hundreds of sellers to put a stop to this fraud. I honestly believe eBay has a hand in this scheme and it these actions are paying off for them as well as the buyers who many may be employed by the company themselves. All I know is that buyers are becoming aware of how easy it is to scam sellers and this is becoming an epidemic. I will file a local theft claim to at least have a legal record of this transaction for a future legal case if it ever happens. I am so sick of what has happened to eBay. I will close my PayPal account and accept other payment forms and most likely will stop selling on eBay as well. I have years worth of items that I have collected to sell and now I have a storage shed full of things I cannot market in a safe environment. What is a seller to do???

I bought two sets of sheets through eBay. Sadly I didn't read the reviews until after I purchased them so within 5 minutes I cancelled the purchase. The seller sent an email about a day later saying they can't cancel it. So I contacted eBay and they had a timeline for everything I need to do as far as escalating the situation. Long story short, I called back during their timeline as the sheets were sent to my 89 year old Dad in another state and I just wanted to not have to pay the shipping back.
Even though I had verification emails from eBay saying when I put in the cancel request and the return emails from the seller saying they wouldn't cancel it, eBay lied and said I never did anything. I had one supervisor look it up and verify what I had done and he was suppose to put the information onto my account. So when I called back during the time frame he recommended, the next two escalation team managers said there were no notes, made me go over the situation over and over again, and said there was no indication that I had asked to cancel this order. Funny, because on my account it says I had wanted to cancel the order. They both promised to look into my complaint and call me back at a set but neither did. They accused me of lying about the situation too.
So I finally wised up and called the seller and they were great and took care of everything right away. Not sure why on my first call to eBay they didn't recommend that course of action. It would have saved me tons of time and frustration. The eBay team was beyond unprofessional and although they seemed helpful in the beginning, three people lied to me in the end and made the situation so uncomfortable that I believe their goal was to just make me go away. It worked. So much for their "Buyer Protection Plan."

EBay customer service is the worst ever! It's been 3 whole months that a hold and restriction were supposed to be removed out of my account and up to this day they still have not removed it. They took my money 3 full months ago and my due balance to them is reported $0.00 and yet they refused to remove the hold. They keep tossing me from one department to the next, they keep telling me within 24 hours, within 3 days and nothing was done. Yesterday I spent over 2 hours on the phone with them and they said in 24 hours; well it's been over 28 hours and my privileges are still restricted. EBay DOES NOT care about us, they will take your money in 2 seconds but will take months to do their end of the bargain. I will never recommend eBay to someone again and I will continue to speak about my total dissatisfaction with eBay. You all are a bunch of crooks.

I've been an active eBay member for 9 years with excellent history as a seller and above standard ratings. Sold an item to a buyer with zero feedback who didn't read item description, didn't ask any questions about this non-return item prior to bidding just to find out that it wasn't the same bracelet they were looking to replace. The description was 100% accurate with actual pictures.
Buyer avoided any communication through eBay (because it is retained and can be used by eBay escalation team) except for opening the case claiming the item wasn't as described without providing any additional proof- instead, she emailed me directly to my email address which eBay doesn't take into consideration. It took 5 minutes between the case being opened and eBay decision in buyer's favor - without reaching out to both parties for additional information. I was also made responsible to accepting the return and covering shipping charges both ways. This is how eBay resolution/escalation team is working??? 5 minutes to rubber-stamp a decision without looking into it? What about seller protection they claim they have? Called and spent like 40 minutes on the phone with a "Leadership" team member - answer - there is NOTHING they can do. PERIOD!

Purchased an item online, seller did not fully disclose issues with item. Had to open eBay dispute to get refund from abusive seller. When I opened the dispute the seller was forced to cancel sale and issue refund. Only way I could alert future buyer to be careful with seller is leave negative feedback. Ebay goes ahead to send me a eBay account warning - policy violation: Reference to an Investigation = warning. Even though I was the victim. Spoke with a very rude customer service agent named **, who I had to remind to take her tone down to resolve the issue. She was explaining stuff she could not see on the screen, had to tell her where to check. Ebay is a NO, NO.
Their platform has become so big they are customer No service and have deceptive practices. ** says my violation was that I mentioned I had to open a case for a resolution. Why is that wrong? It was the truth. EBAY = deception = CUSTOMER NO SERVICE!!! We need a replacement.

Buyer purchased a pair of boots. 11 days later, after having worn boots once, buyer realized boots have no insoles, so buyer contacted seller, who would not accept a return, but offered to send insoles of another brand, or give a $10 credit. Buyer refused, and opened a case, because buyer did not want insoles of another brand, or a credit. Boots were listed in "like-new" condition. Seller claimed buyer had "buyer's remorse," or wore them in the rain. Buyer posted pics in the dispute resolution center, showing that the boots were in the same condition as when received, and pics showing they had no insoles. EBay sided with seller, and buyer is now left holding the bag. This buyer will be closing down their eBay account, and not doing business with eBay again, either as a buyer, or a seller.

Having sold an item, the first buyer did not pay or respond to my emails so item was relisted. The item was sold and buyer paid and item was shipped, however the first buyer then also paid so he was refunded straight away.. Ebay then charged me 10% for each sale of the item. Won't use them again and if you look now on ebay UK, you'll find most items are from China so most UK sellers are fed up getting ripped off.

It all started in 2010. I had posted "free ads" as a trial to see how eBay works. I buy and sell restaurant items so I thought I would give them a try. For years I would go on eBay looking for items and every time I would try to sign in there would be a problem. If ever anyone has called eBay before they would know they switch you from one extension to another extension each time asking you the same questions you answered to the last 5 extensions and never getting an answer until you finally get so mad you hang up!!
After five years I was determined to get things settled once and for all. After three long days of being on the phone and repeating my information and telling my story, going through month after month year after year they FINALLY admitted that there was a problem (OH REALLY). It is the bookkeeping at eBay and the fact that they just passing the buck!
So they said there is a balance of $148.21. I explained that I have NO bill. You would think that in 5 years that I would received a email or written bill from eBay stating I did owe that money! They do have my correct email and address. Also they did have the wrong information on my file such as phone numbers etc. Each time I made the change they asked me to it still went back to the wrong one. Long story short they said because of how eBay system is set up I would have to send payment and within 24 hrs they would reinstate my eBay account and refund my payment back.
At first I asked if they would send me money and I would refund it in 24 hours? OF COURSE THEY REPLIED "NO!" Then I said I wouldn't either unless they would send me a email stating I would send payment and they would refund my account within 24 hrs along with a follow-up phone call from badge #** ** letting me know they had refunded my account!
Of course in eBay fashion they didn't follow through what they promised. So I called again hours later they told me they couldn't refund the $148.21. THEY LIED AGAIN! I have the email to back it up! So I pledge to LET EVERYONE KNOW JUST HOW EBAY IS A SCAM AND NOT TRUTHFUL!! For a major company they treat customers with disrespect and should be made to back up their promises. That is why they have a very poor rating. Out of a 1442 reviews 1401 are complaints, now 1402!! NICE JOB EBAY YOU SHOULD BE SO PROUD! YOU SHOULD TAKE A PAGE OUT OF AMAZON'S CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY. AMAZON TRULY MAKES SURE THAT THE CUSTOMER IS HAPPY!! AMAZON KNOWS HOW TO RUN A COMPANY IN A TIMELY MANNER!!

After using my own picture, I even tried to use pictures that was already being used to sell by other sellers. It still said it was too small. If the other sellers were able to post their photos and I used the same one, how can they list their products and I can't? Anybody else have this problem? It's frustrating.
