Tried to call customer service, the representative was extremely rude! I have sold on eBay for 18 years and now they have placed a hold on my account and they hold my money for 10 days. I sold the item, the customer paid, I have to ship it out, but I get no money, money for what has already sold, for 10 days. Horrible way to treat sellers.

After comparing a number of items from different established online sites and stores with those sold at eBay, I am astounded at the variations in prices and postage costs. I have discovered that those sold at eBay are much higher in cost and often are of an inferior quality, seconds or Asian replicas. In other cases, sizing is clearly not that labeled. Problem is that returning items and obtaining refunds can be so much of a problem and time consuming that one becomes disheartened and gives up.

When an auction on 2/8/18 and paid for the same day. Received shipping notification on 2/9/18 and showed shipment was going to wrong address. Immediately notified eBay and customer service had me correct my address and requested I notify seller in hopes that package was not sent. Was told by customer service that if package was delivered to wrong address and I never received, I could get money back from "Money Back Guarantee".
Notified seller and unfortunately package was shipped. Was for delivery notice and file case with eBay as instructed. Had to wait 10 days and notify seller. Did both. Then followed instruction and was immediately denied on claim and was told no further action would be done. Called eBay customer and was told it was not their responsibility and there was nothing they would do for me and I was out of product and my money. Would not honor money back guarantee. Company gladly collects their fees but do not stand behind their service.

Preface: I am a personal stylist and have been a part of EBay, buying and selling unique pieces, for years. My sister, a pastry cook, uses this site to post and buy, as does my mother, an artist, and my grandfather, a well-known woodworker. The community has been mostly positive. All of this being said, EBay itself is the most frustrating company I have ever worked with. It has been my experience that, apparently, EBay's goal is to have less dealings with issues rather than deal with less issues. I have been struggling with technical issues for months now: my Watchlist runs an error code whenever I attempt to delete from it (trading 20820) and when I try to change preferences on my account, I am re-directed to my Watchlist. They were mildly frustrating and solvable, I was sure, so I decided to take action.
I looked up solutions to the error code and misdirection online. EBay support sites from around the world showed lists of customer questions regarding these same issues. Interestingly enough, not a single question was even acknowledged by an EBay staff person. When I attempted to find an EBay support number, I was first directed to a short roll of issues I could choose from (which would then connect me to the most appropriate team member). The small collection of options did not suffice, so I reluctantly chose something relatively similar to what I needed help with. I called the phone number listed. The person on the receiving end of my phone call was unhelpful and a waste of my time. I felt ignored and unimportant.
The individual was muttering and mumbling to herself, pondering what she was going to “try to do” to fix my Watchlist error. “Do you see the red button that says ‘Delete’? Try and click it. Do you see that item on your Watchlist now?—You do? It didn’t disappear? *It should look like a ghost.* Well I don’t see it on my screen. I’ve taken care of it.—Nothing’s changed? Are you sure? You must have accidentally not checked the ‘Delete’ boxes.” Our conversation was like this for fifteen minutes until I finally pulled the plug. It seemed as though even the term “error code” was better understood on my end than it was on EBay’s.
Next, I looked up what was listed as EBay’s technical support number. I was re-directed to the call center I had just finished with. The man on the other end told me he didn’t know how to contact any technical support. Finally I decided to “speak” with an EBay representative online via message or email. No such resources exist. I decided to try instant message or chat. Again, no resources. I went on to their forum board. It was only for members to help other members. I was back where I started: many questions regarding my same issues and not a single—not a SINGLE—question being addressed. Or even acknowledged. Not one.
It was like either A) EBay had no knowledge of such widespread issues and wanted to remain ignorant about them or B) EBay knew about such widespread issues and wanted nothing to do with them. The sole place I found somewhat professional responses to complaints was on the Better Business Bureau. That is like giving a severely malnourished, starving person on their deathbed a cupcake before they die: it is a quick punch of a response before ultimately going down. In the end, what seemed like a couple simple troubles turned into a massive question: am I willing to help support and fund a large corporation that does not even RESPECT or ACKNOWLEDGE the patrons which keep it existent?

Shipping Overcharges is quite common on eBay nowadays. Why, eBay doesn't follow its own policy regarding inflated shipping charges. So the sellers add whatever they please to the shipping and make out on it too, at times quite a bit. This isn't fair. There is no way around it and eBay doesn't care.

Horrible and discriminating Service!!! First of all they just don't care about sellers and just refund any buyer if they ask to! They don't need any evidence, pictures or something else. One of my buyers opened a case that he received just one custom made product, but he purchased 2 items. In the description clearly said that he had to purchase 2 items for his "size" of product. I also sent him a message, just to confirm, that he understand that 2 items will be used just for 1 product. He confirmed it. After, he received a package, he sent me a message that he need one more and I must go ship him one more for free. Then, when I referred to his message, he opened a case with EBAY and they without any investigating just refunded him!!! Their Indian or Philippines customer service told me that they think that I "cannot charge them too much", because they think it is "too much".
Also, they said, that "removed my right to appeal", because eBay already made right decision about that case!!! Whata heck!!! Are they serious??? They decided that they're judges there in India (or whatever they are), who can judge people around the world without any investigating and requesting a proof... and even "remove someone rights"??? Tomorrow one more thing happened, I received negative feedback from buyer, who placed an order on Feb. 6 2018 and opened a case "not received" on Feb 8 2018 (while processing time is 3 business days). I don't know what's going on there and how he was able to do it, but I just refunded him, because no one of eBay's "customer service" was able to tell me why and how he did it... Then he just left negative feedback and again, eBay said that they are not going to remove it, because it his experience... It really looks like they just want to get rid of all sellers...

So after years of shopping on eBay it looks like I'm done, USPS said they deliver my packages which they didn't. Whenever you buy a package that you really want you track it every step of the way to the day it said it would be delivered. I waited outside got the mail when it was suppose to come in. Wasn't in the mail yet it said delivered. Contacted the seller. He said sometimes they do that it should show up the next day, I've never had that happen. It's good to know that I'm straight out of luck when things like this happen because it could have been a $300 purchase. After today receiving their decision to not give me a refund on such a cheap item lets me know I can no longer spend my money with them.

I had a 100% rating. I treat people well and honestly. I sent a brand new pair of very expensive dressmaker's scissors to a buyer which were factory sealed from the manufacturer with no way to get to them except cut into the sealed packaging and I sent them packed very securely. The buyer sent eBay a claim that they were used and defective but "she had to use a microscope to see the defects". When was the last time you took a new item out of a sealed package and put it under a microscope to try to find defects?
Responsibly, I told her to send them back. I told her I would replace them and she wrote that I was very dishonest and she wouldn't take a replacement. She sent them back bent with the packaging torn up. eBay took her side. I tried to appeal and was told by two reps that I would be taken care of. Meanwhile, they dunned my PayPal account. I finally got a rep who said that the post office might have opened the package and used the scissors so they had to take the buyer's side. I did everything right but lost.

I've sold a high value item to this ebay buyer "**". As soon as the payment was received, I shipped the item. On the process of shipping, the UPS website kept crashing so I had to run to the UPS store near by my house and continued the process there. The buyer paid $125.85 for shipping, but at the UPS store the shipping cost came out $162.80. I happily paid extra $36.95 for the buyer.
The item was shipped out that night, 01/23/18 and was delivered on 01/27/18. The buyer even gave me a positive review, however 4 days later on 01/31/18, the buyer messages me through eBay that there's a small problem that there's a "clicking" noise coming out from the hard drive and that he wants to split $150 with me. I told the buyer that I don't do partial refund that he should return the item and I'll give full refund. He gets angry at me saying that he gave me a chance to solve this nicely and he threatens me that I will be paying for the shipping cost and that I will lose more money on doing so. He opened a case soon after that saying "There's a defect on the item," so I kindly asked him to provide me a video recording of the clicking sound. He argues with me for couple of days that I'm playing games with him and he sends me a youtube link on 02/03/18.
After reviewing his youtube video and analyzing it, there was no "clicking" sound at all. This "clicking" sound is commonly known as "Click of Death." among computer gurus. There was no "Click of Death" in the video, and to the best of my knowledge, the hard drive was fine. I've even linked some videos of how REAL "Click of Death" sounds like... But he kept insisting that it is the hard drive making the sound and the computer is dying. He even went far to accuse me that I knew about this problem and that I didn't mention this and that I was hoping it would go unnoticed. I got so fed up with his ** that I decided to confront him directly saying that the problem was done on his end and that he is falsely accusing me of a false defect.
Now he is trying to change the game from "item with defect" to "item not as described." I called eBay asking them what they think about the messages we exchanged. eBay was telling me that basically I was going to lose the case because of buyer protection policy. I told eBay, I proved that he is claiming a false defect and he is not telling the truth. I found all the evidence on the video and told them to check out the video. eBay simply said that they do not watch the video and they will only judge upon what it says in the messenger, and just by reading all the messages eBay has not found any evidence of the buyer abusing the system or lying.
At this moment, I stop giving a ** about this matter, I even don't care if I lose the case and the buyer ends up keeping the item and gets a full refund. Because by the time the item returns, it will lose a lot of resale values. A life lesson I've learned here is that there are always going to be scammers on both sides and it is both parties responsibility to discern and make a right choice. And to warn eBay sellers to stop doing business with eBay because I've read that eBay is using sharia law in their policy. eBay is your enemy and is not your friend. Lastly, BEWARE of "**". He knew that eBay won't even bother to look at any type of video evidence and he abused the buyer protection policy. Don't be fooled with his positive feedbacks. They are mostly him selling items.

I listed a valuable jacket on eBay which was "sold". The listing included a shipping fee of $75. When buyer paid it did not include shipping. When I asked him about shipping He sent me screenshot of the listing which differed from mine. It stated free shipping. Ebay's "solution" was for me to invoice the buyer through Paypal for shipping where they transferred my call. I spent over an hour with PayPal and another hour with the buyer trying to resolve. The buyer agreed to pay reduced shipping and was justly feeling that the terms he agreed to when he purchased differed.
I called back eBay 24 hours later and their story changed. They claimed that I listed the offer on ebay.com instead of ebay.ca and that somehow resulted in the listing presenting as free shipping. I have a screenshot of my listing which clearly states $75. eBay takes a significant percentage of sales fee and yet are not prepared to acknowledge or take responsibility for misrepresentation of listings as a result of their software.

I am so disappointed and DISGUSTED with eBay. Back in beginning of December, I chose to accept a seller’s promotion offering 50% of seller’s fees. This promotion ended end of December. The promotion required that you list offering 30-day returns. DONE. Then I get our December invoice $750!!!! I was in shock. So I take a look at my invoice and the first thing I realize is that eBay did NOT apply the 50% seller’s fees promotion. I call them. The fun begins... The supervisor I talked to, is attempting to convince me that I looked at the promotion but did not join the promotion. I could see where this was going. I requested that he review my account, as at the time I actually called eBay to inquire about the promotion, "what's the catch"? The rep explained it to me, and even gave me the ending date of the promotion. Now eBay tell me because they don' see anything on their end, about any promotion, I cannot, and don't qualify for the promotion!!
I AM SO SICK OF EBAY RAPING US DRY. I should have known that this would not come to fruition. So because THEIR system, which is always MESSING up did not record that I jumped into the Promotion I don't get any reduction in seller fees??? Really eBay, you need that additional money so desperately? You shouldn't, God knows you nickel and dime us sellers to death! You are like a thief in the night!! Long story short... I sold a factory sealed item on eBay for about $150 and charged $13 shipping. I indicated that I do not accept returns. The actual shipping cost about $25 which I was happy to pay as I underestimated the cost. When the buyer received the item (which were trading cards) in individually wrapped boxes, he complained that the individually wrapped boxes were damaged... Not the cards. This was truly the most petty complaint I have heard as the boxes had just minor tears but had absolutely 0 effect on the cards being sent. Reluctantly, I told the guy I would give him a few dollars to keep him happy but he demanded a full refund. I told him not only could I not refund him as the factory seal had been broken, but the additional shipping costs would make the entire transaction a complete loss for me of over $50.
Unfortunately, eBay ruled in his favor after receiving the case because apparently it's the easy way out for them. There was absolutely no consideration to customer loyalty in this case as I have been with eBay for well over 10 years with 100% positive feedback... Including hundreds of transactions. The customer that purchased the item had very little feedback at all. At this point, I am still awaiting for the item to be returned but I am sure it will be here in a few short days and then the buyer gets his money back and I am out an additional $50. If I knew "no returns" meant nothing, I never would have listed the item for sale.
eBay has really shafted me in this case and I seriously can't wait for this case to close completely so I can pay my current balance and close my account. This decision will cost eBay in the end much more than it will cost me as they lost a valued customer of well over 10 years. There are way too many other options today such as Amazon, Facebook marketplace, Letgo, etc. to remain with eBay. Customer loyalty means nothing to this company and I am ashamed to have been faithful for so long.

eBay used to provide customers with a case by case consideration, but has gotten so automated that the system uses broad strokes to determine resolution. I have purchased quite a bit through them, often opting to pay the premium vs directly shopping through a business's website because of their buyer protection. Recently I purchased a product, and was send the wrong item. I contacted the seller explaining the situation, in which the acknowledged their error. I followed their instructions in how to process the exchange through eBay.
Shortly after they filed a case against me in which eBay found in their favor because of how the seller had me prepare the return, costing me extra money. As a result, I was unable to leave appropriate feedback for the seller, protecting future customers from a similar situation. I was informed the case was opened, but never contacted for any information or evidence. In contacting eBay to explain the situation, I was informed the process was automatic, and there was no option to challenge the decision because it had closed, even though the message I received providing the decision claimed an appeals process was available.
Even though I explained there was correspondence with the seller acknowledging their fault, and explaining what I should do (incorrectly), the automatic system did not recognize this, and the customer service agent deferred to the system's decision as final instead of recognizing the flaw. Because of this, I intend to use alternate forms of shopping since I no longer feel I am protected by their "customer protection".

I then contacted the buyer and asked that he place the car on eBay and I would even pay for the buyer fees so that we had coverage should he turn out to be a bad seller.
He agreed and I purchased the car for a $500 downpayment that evening and a final 15,550 the following day on December 4th. In addition to these amounts which equal $16,050, we were asked for another $350 to ship the car to my daughter's home in PA a few hours from the seller. The $350 was paid through PayPal on December 7th. When that plan didn't work out, we were asked for another $1,000 to have it delivered to our home in CO and that money was sent on December 8th. We paid a total of $1,350 for shipping. So at this time, we have sent the seller $17,400.
If you look at the original description in the ad, you will clearly see that the seller deceived us regarding this vehicle. The vehicle we received doesn't look like that vehicle nor does the condition come close to what was listed on eBay. We were told that the only undercoating on the vehicle was original and it has been undercoated numerous times to cover the massive amounts of rust that we were told did not exist. The hinges on the doors are so rusted that the doors will not open or close and the dashboard screws are rusted through and the dashboard falls off. The body of the car is nothing but Bondo and newspaper is filling the caverns holding the Bondo in place. The frame is cracked where the K member supports the entire drivetrain and front suspension. The frame rails are rusted from the inside out. Not one piece of metal on this car is free of rust or even salvageable.
In addition to the large amounts of rust, absolutely none of the electrical works. This includes the headlights, wipers, tail lights, turn signals, and dash instruments. In fact, all the wiring for the entire car has been thrown in the trunk of the car. There is also a bench seat instead of the bucket seats and console listed in his ad. Just to unload the vehicle off of the semi, the engine had to be sprayed with starting fluid. Once it started, smoke filled the air and the car quickly stalled. It wouldn't start to pull it in the garage and upon inspection it is a rust bucket! It is not roadworthy or licensable anywhere! On top of all of this, the seller did not send us a title!!! With all of these issues, I am being told that if the seller provides a title, we will not be able to return the car to the seller for a refund. Are you kidding me? Maybe this seller works for eBay. What a scam!

eBay charged my Paypal account For a $4.30 return label to a seller. When I clicked on the label and seen the cost of it I backed out of the label and decided to make a return label myself by using Microsoft Word. Then took the item to our post office. I have talked to eBay twice. The first time they told me they could see that I never used the label and would credit me, that never happened so I called them to see why, they read the notes which said, customer understood that he used the label and would not be getting a refund.
I asked to talk with a supervisor, our talk didn't go well because they did not believe me. I don't like to be told I am lying and she said she would go on and give me a $5 voucher, I said how would I get that and she said she would email me, this has not happened either. eBay has lied to me twice now. If they offer a UPS, FedEx, etc label they should be able to track that label, but they told they don't have a way to do that, another lie. I never printed the label and never used it. Do not trust eBay, they lie. On the phone 45 mins. both times explaining this to them. It's simple, check the number of the label and they could see it's never been used. Lie, Lie, Lie, is all they did over $4.30.

I agree with everything Debra just said. I was transferred 3 times, spoke with 4 different "product specialist" and what it boiled down to was they wanted me to log in to my eBay account once a month every month even if you were not using or selling on eBay. If you did not do this they were going to waste your time and frustrate you with completely worthless customer service.
This might sound odd but what other logical explanation can you come up with. Of course they know how to clear up a very simple problem and allow you to list an item. My advice to anyone who needs to sell something is to use every alternative to eBay (there are alternatives) and if that doesn't work just make a new account on eBay and try that again. Unfortunately this is a huge company that does really well but happens to suck at the same time. With that being said I would never use this company to buy or sell unless you are desperate.

He said he shipped the item but he did not. My payment refund became pending for 5 days. The money is being refunded in USD and not my credit card for some reason. So I lost about $65 to exchange it back to Japanese Yen. (Order amount is $950) Moreover eBay suspended my account saying, "Your actions pose threats to the community." All I did since registering is ordering this used GPU. And I used my legitimate credit card through my PayPal which I have for about 10 years now. I tried to resolve the problem or at least understand why my account is suspended without any result. Ebay support simply told me to look for other auction websites.
Ebay says it protects buyers but what happened here is I lost my time because my money got stuck on pending for 5 days. I lost money because my money got exchanged to USD and not refunded back to my credit card. Was not allowed to make fair feedback for the seller. Apparently the seller caused big annoyance to me and he lied that the item is shipped already so a bad feedback should be fair. But I could not post feedback due to account suspension. Apparently the seller ran away with his actions. I had the frustration of going into all of this hassle for no understandable reason.

I was scammed out of my money and the item after purchasing a supposedly authentic All-in-One VR Headset. The scam was thought up by a dishonest Chinese eBay seller who is selling counterfeit items on eBay. When the seller from China signs up for selling on eBay they give two different addresses to eBay, one is real and the other is fake, and eBay unknowingly allows them to do this. When a buyer unknowingly purchases a counterfeit item and returns the item the seller has to automatically pay for the return shipping but puts the fake address on the label and the United States Postal Service is not able to deliver the package and it ends up lost due to the fake address. PayPal and eBay will not refund the buyers money if the item is never delivered to the proper address.
The buyer then ends up losing both the item and their money and the seller then files for the insurance claim from the United States Postal Service which is covered by all Priority Shipping labels and gets that money as well. On the $62.99 fake item I purchased the seller made a profit of $121.42 at the expense of the buyer and the United States Postal Service. PayPal or eBay does nothing to stop this racketeering and fraud and denies it. They side with the seller in the dispute due to the fact the item was never returned to the seller even though the buyer has proof they shipped the fake item back by the tracking number supplied by the USPS. However the tracking number confirms the item was never delivered and lost. I now have lost both my money and the item due to this scam. This has to stop and consumers deserve to be protected from fraudulent sellers on eBay and PayPal. Thank you.

eBay does not care about you or your concerns as a seller. I have had returns due to "Defective Item" because the buyer's computer did not have the proper specs, they always win because eBay cannot prove 100% that it worked when I shipped, it's ridiculous. This has cost me $100s of dollars because of course eBay will keep their share no matter what. They also do not care when they make a mistake, during a return there was 1, literally 1 out of the 6 different ** addresses that was set to an old address and that is the one they used for a return, needless to say when it's a $600+ item of course the current resident didn't receive it. eBay will do nothing because 1 address (address used to signup 4+ years ago) was incorrect, even though the other 5 were current. I have had a similar experience with customer service, buyer bricked a product I sold to him, I fixed it, did it again and then wanted a return.
I was told by customer service to issue a refund and once I get the item back to appeal the return because the rep was "On your side, this shouldn't have been refunded". So I simply follow instructions and call in to appeal the case later after I get the item and issue the return, the response from Customer Service was "You issued the return willing therefore you cannot appeal this case" and hung up. This list goes on but as a seller I would say do not deal with them, especially if the item takes any know how or competence by the buyer because it's lacking to say the least. Returns are accepted almost without question even when you specify "No Returns", Customer Service gives false information, and eBay will not take responsibility for anything even if it is their mistake.

In the past 6 or 7 years I have only had ONE issue. I never received the item I had ordered and for which I had already paid. This was NOT the fault of eBay. The tracking number for the item showed that it had been delivered to my home address along with the time the item was placed in my mailbox which was in the afternoon.
I did not check my mail until later in the evening. Apparently, the item had been stolen from my mailbox. Going through the customer service with eBay was a bit of a hassle and in the end I never got my money back, since the item showed that it HAD BEEN delivered to me. I ordered a DVD boxed set for a Xmas gift the week before Thanksgiving. It came fairly quickly, but was the complete wrong item. I opened a case with eBay, but apparently chose the wrong option "I didn't receive my item" over a semantic issue. I DIDN'T receive the item I ordered, so chose this and explained in the text of the message what happened. Apparently I was supposed to select something else, but none of the options really seemed to fit "I was sent the wrong item". The seller did his part in getting me the return label, I returned it, and asked when my actual item was being shipped to me. He said "today" but after over a week, that didn't happen. I asked where it was, but got no response after a few days. Then I got a Refund notice from eBay to solve the problem, but now it's too late to get the item for Xmas.
THEN, and this is the kicker for me, eBay wouldn't allow my negative review of this seller because I got a refund. I didn't want to write a scathing one, just tell that he sent out the wrong item in case this happens frequently -- sorry, but that's not a good thing! And he didn't do what he messaged me that he was going to, so again, not good. Crazy of them to protect a seller this way -- now I don't believe his 94% positive is very accurate. If it was just a rare blip in his history, that would have shown and people could decide to buy from him or not. (They didn't allow many characters to explain the situation, either.) This was my first experience with eBay in ages, and it will be my last! I had to jump through several hoops for absolutely nothing but a hassle, headache and worry that I was being ripped off.

This company endorses people who claim they sell new genuine phones like HTC and Samsung. The phones are cheap made in China knock offs and when you bid, the location tells you it is in the USA, when in fact it comes from Hong Kong. The seller uses an address in the States and provides a tracking number that does not show any tracking information as the package has never been dropped off at the USPS office. Then, when the cheap item from Hong Kong arrives in the USA the product gets shipped. eBay and PayPal do nothing about this, especially since many people complaint and left negative feedback. They endorse and enable this behaviour! Also, eBay claims to be a separate entity from PayPal, when in fact they work together in scamming the customer!
PayPal freezes the money immediately when there is a problem with eBay! The seller has no access to the funds, but is expected to ship an item or pay for a return shipping label, because a cheapskate does not like the item he purchased, exchange his old defective merchandise with the new intact product you shipped and claimed it is "broken" to avoid paying for a return shipping label! Then you have to accept, even though you know the product was in top condition in order to avoid eBay taking and freezing your account! I had sold a 100% brand new ceiling fan that I paid $500 for it.
I had a cheapo who offered me $200 plus shipping! Well, the item arrived with her and I ended up buying her $50 blades plus $20 shipping as she claimed the blades has a few scuff marks from the shipping! These people want the shipping for cheap and do not pay extra for insurance! Story short, I made $130.00 minus the $23 eBay fees and $10 PayPal fee! Final outcome $97 in my pocket, no positive feedback and $403 loss!
Furthermore, eBay wants your personal information, do not give it to them, like SSN #, passport or driver's license for so called verification! You give it to them and then they use it to ban you if you refuse to pay their fees! Also, when you ask them to destroy your personal information after you closed the account, guess what, they will NOT do it! They keep it and it will forever in their files and subject to someone committing identity theft or hacking! PayPal is the same way and they will close your account and you will have no access to the money, if you have money in it, for 6 months! They will play with your funds and getting richer on your backside, while you still have to fulfill shipping commitments on goods from eBay! A note of advice NEVER KEEP money in your PayPal account! Always transfer it to your account! Always cancel subscriptions eBay has on you as they can access your money!
I am surprised that all this is legal as in Germany for example, you are NOT required to use PayPal. There you can set up bank transfers and do not encounter these high PayPal fees! Both entities are only out there to scam you, so beware of them and keep your information private! Best of all, do not use them in the first place!

Two chipped but salvageable ornaments were used for fish but the one that had the black mold (cleaned out thoroughly) killed my fish. The ornaments after being cleaned extensively had no smell before being used for a fish bowl. After finding the fish dead the next morning, I removed the one ornament and could smell an ammonia like chemical smell. They don’t require payment up front so I’ve had a number of fraudulent buyers and even buyers who just changed their mind refuse to pay. After selling on eBay for over 20 years (yes, really), I received my first negative feedback due to a buyer complaining that I sent an item not as advertised. I immediately accepted the return and upon receipt of the package, opened it to find a different item than I shipped. I sent a new item, the one I received back was used, damaged and had sand in it. I would also like to note that the buyer did not contact me, not even once regarding the transaction. After reporting the buyer to eBay, I have heard nothing. I then looked at the buyer's account and they have left a negative feedback on dozens upon dozens upon dozens of transactions, clearly abusing the feedback system. This again has been reported to eBay. After waiting and waiting, I have still heard no response from eBay and the buyer is still leaving negative feedback comments willy nilly all over eBay.
I've filed my case with the BBB, but since they're only concerned about eBay paying them for an A+ rating, I know that will be fruitless. Even after 20 years, I can say that the worst thing about eBay is the customer service. They offer very little protection to sellers in cases like this, in fact, it perpetuates fraud (this isn't the first time this has happened to me). I wish there were an alternative, that's where I'd be selling.

That account I believed was still open as I changed emails. I need to use a new email, to use my eBay. I thought this was ok no problem until last month I sold a number of books as I started selling quite a lot of books, so this month 6 days into the month and my PayPal account is over £26 pounds and I am not in work. I was happy at first to get a few sales... Then I noticed and realised every sale they withhold my money up to 3 weeks. Their policy I think it's a joke. So upset. Today I cannot post item. Had them a week or more now! Affected me. Very upset.

In several cases where items were returned damaged by the buyer, eBay continues to find in favor of the buyer by refunding the purchase price! They give no credence to the Seller's position! Even when logic and the evidence supports the seller, they defend the buyer! And many times they don't refund the selling fees to the seller! This is highway robbery! We are talking about 10% or MORE of the selling price!!! So Seller beware! I would NOT recommend you use eBay to sell your products! They pretend to offer seller protection but they DON'T. It is no wonder they are no longer leaders in the reseller marketplace. There are many other options on the internet and apps available for selling your products. Available now and I would recommend these alternative be used. Don't waste your time using eBay. If you don't look at these other options, you will soon live to regret it!

I received the following email from eBay: eBay policy breach: Feedback Extortion. We’ve looked at your eBay account and see that some of your actions do not follow eBay's Feedback Extortion policy. As a result, we've taken the following steps: The following feedback you left has been removed: Using the feedback or detailed seller ratings (DSR) systems in exchange for any of the following isn't allowed:
"Buyer: Forcing a seller to provide goods and services that weren't included in the original item's description. Demanding a return or refund. Seller: Requiring buyers to leave positive feedback or DSR in exchange for receiving the purchased item. Offering monetary compensation or an additional item in exchange for positive feedback or DSR."
What an absolutely disgusting email to send to a loyal customer without even checking with the customer to see what had happened before sending... I have been with eBay for years and have never breached the terms and conditions in all that time. I find the word extortion incredibly contentious, offensive and borderline slanderous. If eBay are referring to the card I purchased (I wouldn't know because they didn't clarify what product they are referring to), it arrived squashed and couldn't be used as it wasn't packaged properly so in turn I left negative feedback. The seller then contacted me to offer a partial refund in return for positive feedback, I agreed. I received the link and it didn't work so I sent a message to him advising him accordingly and he didn't resend it and I totally forgot about it.
I did the right thing. I told the seller that the link didn't work so where did I extort him for money? I didn't. I didn't go to him and say give me the money back. That would have been extortion. If this had of been over a larger amount I would seek legal advice because this is an absolutely disgusting email to receive when I did absolutely NOTHING wrong! I'm so upset, they have made me feel like a criminal and if that is a standard email that they send to everyone who has an issues with refunds and feedback, maybe they should review their wording.

There is so much confusion (I think intentionally) in customer service it's unreal, you never get the same person and it's always a runaround. I'm out in expenses of $7,000.00 and all eBay is concerned about is their listing fee. I refused to pay and so instead of helping solve my problem, they simply blocked "MY eBAY" use. On November 29th at around 9:30 -10 AM I tried to purchase an RTI Priest Bullpup Air Rifle listed for sale on eBay for auction and a "Buy It Now" for $900. That item is worth $1600 new and is very rare so the $900 was a great deal. After clicking the buy it now it said the normal warning that I agreed to buy it and when I clicked to pay I received a message saying due to restrictions in my state I could not buy it. I live in Virginia and know that no such restrictions exist. I have purchased Air Guns from Amazon and Air Gun Depot online with no problems so I immediately called eBay. I spoke to six different people at eBay on my first call. Two of them agreed with me that the blocking of my purchase should not be happening. One had me try to make the purchase from my mobile device as each one failed they passed me to different departments.
Finally the last person said, "Mr. ** I will call you back. I want to look into this some more." I had also wrote the seller telling him the problem I was having and he said to me he has sold other Air Rifles on eBay and never had any problems, but he was going to look into also. At 12:05 eBay called me back and said that the problem was the seller can't sell it in his state. I told him that doesn't sound correct to me as I had looked it up and he said I was wrong and that eBay was going to make him take the listing down. I also want to add that he also had 2 other air guns for sale. Later in the day I went back to see if it was down after researching and seeing that the law in Hawaii was the same as in Virginia and became angry when I saw that the item was sold at 12:07 PM, but now to someone else. So I called eBay back to find out why they lied to me and gave me false information.
This time I recorded the call and the representative danced all around then came on and said, "I found the reason Mr. **. It's because we don't allow international sales of Air Rifles." I said the seller is in Hawaii. Once again silence. When he returns he says to me probably the worst thing you can say as a representative of a company, "To be honest we screwed up but there is nothing we can do for you." So am I to take from this you haven't been honest all the other calls and the 2 hrs spent on the phone this morning was waste of my time.
I said that's unacceptable and asked for the record numbers of all my calls and how many people I spoke with and said I was going to look into legal action against eBay. He gave me the number for their legal department and refused to speak any further to me once I said I felt they owed me compensation for their numerous mistakes and lack of knowledge of the firearm laws in both Virginia and Hawaii.

However, I can't change it back because it is linked to my email. eBay insists they didn't do it and they can't fix it. It cost me extra to have an item rerouted to me and the other the seller just got back. Hours off the phone to eBay simply results in them telling me it was my fault and there is nothing they can do. I am very good about giving great reviews when it's great customer service. But, unfortunately Ebay has really made me do this, I don't understand how a company can have customers who continuously buy from them and when you need them when you have a problem with a purchase, plays games and give you the runaround. I had purchased a product, and yes it wasn't that expensive. But, it was mine and I deserve to get what I pay for. As I was saying, I purchased a product online from a seller on Ebay, it was at my doorstep days early, only to pick it up with it completely open at the top and the merchandise not in it. I immediately called them to see if they could track it and see what to do if something like this happens, which was the first time in many years I had experienced this situation.
They in the beginning said that they would see what happened and resolve my missing purchase, by contacting the seller and having them to send me another one, or issuing a refund. But to no avail they sided with the seller, even afer I found out and informed them, that the seller had used Amazon to sell products that they had, and Amazon told me that they don't advise Ebay sellers to do that, since there is no way to issue me a refund or even help me, that they just use a delivery service and that it would just track it to me, and if it was damaged and the package wasn't taped I would have to talk to Ebay about a refund. I will never shop with them again. Crazy thing about it is, I purchased six other items from all around the U.S that same time, last week and all of them came with a note from the seller thanking me for my purchase and were all taped up and secured and not fulfilled by another company other than who I thought I was purchasing from.

After going to the eBay website and through about 10 steps, I finally got to talk to a customer service representative. She gave me the excuse that my account was suspended because a lot of people were signing up and they needed to verify my identity, and wanted me to answer a bunch of personal questions and submit to a background check. I told her no, that I had never encountered anything like this when trying to buy something online, that it was poor practice for them to force people to go through all that, and if it was the way they did business then I didn't ever want to buy or sell anything on eBay.
After she wouldn't stop talking, I hung up. She then called me back and I had to tell her everything all over again, as if she hadn't understood the first time. So now I am out the purchase price of the item and the return postage as well. When asked why I was called so late the lady told me that they are in the Philippines and do not know other time zones. This is not how to represent your company and treat the people who are actually trying to help them out by ordering from them. Regardless, I was not allowed to reject the return because buyer stated that it was defective. It is not. I've since received it, tested it, and am using it in my computer right now. I called eBay customer service who told me that because the buyer SAID it was defective, I can’t decline the return and advised me to issue a refund then make a claim with them if the item wasn't defective. They said there was nothing they can do until I refund and receive the item. Then, once I had done that, I could get protection from eBay.
I received the item, tested it, and sure enough. 100% working condition. I called eBay who told me that because I'm not a business that they can't offer me protection against return policy abuse. They also told me that because I "accepted" a return (which I was instructed to do) (and there was no option to decline the return) that it's even harder to get protection. Now, I'm out $60 for auctioning it off at a discount, $82 for the sale price of the item which has been taken from me, $6.99 for shipping, then an additional $2.75 for providing a return shipping label (which is mandatory). Now I have an item that is no longer new and not worth its true value and I'm out $151.94 for having used eBay. Oh wait, add another $2.75 for the listing fee from eBay. You'd think that because I've been a loyal buyer for 10 years that would count for something, but it doesn't.

I have purchased different items many times through eBay over the last seven years or so and I have never had a problem. I ordered a skirt (it was new), when I received it I opened it up and it had the worst strongest chemical/perfume smell. It was overwhelming and I had to wash my hands three times with soap and they stilled smelled. I emailed the seller and they never returned my email. I waited over a week and then I called eBay customer service.
The women that answered the call was the rudest customer service rep that I ever have encountered! She told me that there was nothing they could do. I told her I wanted to open a dispute and she said there was no recourse for something smelling bad. I told her this was not just a bad smell. It was intolerable! At this point she became so so rude & curt, I was in shock how unkind she had become. eBay is definitely no Amazon not even in the same ballpark, I have never had a bad experience with Amazon & I've dealt with them many times. First time with eBay, needless to say I will be deleting my eBay account.

There are probably many victims who have complained before, but there can never be enough warnings issued for one of eBay's biggest rip offs. Rather than ensure a speedy and economical service for international buyers, this shipping process is a cynical and nefarious way for eBay, in collusion with Pitney Bowes, to increase its profits on every sale using the system.
For those unaware of the system, the shipping process is NOT priority in any way. Items are dispatched using slow economy shipping at inflated and exorbitant rates. Full tracking is often not provided. Unnecessary or non-existent import charges are included whatever the cost of the item and DISCLOSED AFTER THE BUYER HAS AGREED TO BUY. Despite the posted conditions of this process being available to all buyers, there must be a severe doubt concerning their infringement on legal rights and, in some respects of the whole transaction, must be skirting the boundaries of out-and-out fraud. There really needs to be a much more public expos done to increase awareness of this deplorable practice.

I do not sell many things on eBay, but when I left my dental office, I had several large things to sell. This complaint is about the sale of my vacuum machine. It is a heavy piece of equipment, at over 150 lbs. I knew it would have to be tied onto a pallet. I saw the standard shipping methods on the site, but evidently did not see the drop-down that says Freight; contact seller for shipping information (or words to that effect). All the information that I filled out for standard shipping put the fee at about $200. The eBay listing said "buyer to pay shipping". The buyer paid that and the cost of the item. However, shortly after, I discovered that UPS wouldn't take anything as large as this, and it had to be shipped via a trucking company. A small panel truck came to get it, I signed their forms which basically said that they would find a trucking company to take it to Indiana. About 5 months after this, I received my first invoice from the trucking company, for $524.
I contacted eBay customer service. After finding out that the first clerk was unable to help, I was told that a supervisor would call "within the hour". 5 hours later, I was at the grocery store and the call came in. It was impossible for me to talk there, so she rescheduled the call for 9 AM today. It came at 1 PM when I was out of the house. She did leave a number to call back and a service request number. I called, and after going through my issues, was basically told that eBay is never going to help me to contact the buyer, nor will they pay the extra shipping.
I realize that I have some responsibility here, for not using this sales site enough to be facile with it. But I also feel that they, as a multi-billion dollar corporation should do a better job on their information to prevent things like this from happening. I am upset that I have to contact the buyer, and tell him to pay for the shipping as was stated in the listing. I expect to be more upset when he tells me to take a hike. But maybe he will be ethical, which doesn't vindicate eBay, Inc.

When I contact EBAY about why they removed it they'll say something like, "well I don't understand why your feedback was removed... Clearly it was justified feedback... On October 10, 2017 I won an auction at eBay & was to make payment promptly & soon discovered eBay refuses to accept payment through my Visa debit card & wants me to sign up or open a PayPal account to accept my payment. eBay had no issues before accepting payment using the same Visa debit card which I used for 20 purchases in 2017 & as a guest in the previous years without signing up or opening a PayPal account until this last item which eBay now has opened a case against me for an unpaid item. If it matters, I have a 100% buyer feedback by making payment promptly on purchases I owe.
I had a terrible experience with PayPal in the past which took a decade to retrieve the money they owe me & after that experience vowed never to use PayPal ever again. eBay now tells me that the reason they are not accepting my Visa debit card is that I have exceeded paying with a Visa debit card usage eBay & PayPal policy(?). I have never heard of such absurd policy that a merchant like eBay is forcing or bullying a buyer to open a PayPal account to make payments. eBay should accept the payment I had been trying to make with my Visa debit card or do not complain or file a case against me for unpaid item, this is not on me, I am willing to pay what I owe but eBay is the one that created the problem by changing the rules on me.
Is it even legal for eBay to do this kind of business practice? It seems discriminatory to me that the US$ that comes out directly of my checking account debit card is being treated as inferior or of lesser value compared to the PayPal version. If eBay's goal is to lose good paying customers, then eBay should get a tap on the back for doing a successful & wonderful job. They are not hurting the buyer like me, I can take my business elsewhere where my disposable income are welcome but unfortunate to the hardworking sellers who has to pay eBay & PayPal for their services.

When I attempted to file my claim with eBay, which of course promises money back guarantee, the system said I had to send yet another email to the seller and wait 4 days for a response. If no response then eBay will step in. Except today is the 4th and I filed today. Their system now says I have to wait until the 11th for eBay to honor their contract with me, the buyer!

First it was wait 3 days, then wait 4 days and then wait 7 days!! All that before eBay will lift a finger to honor their contract with me. By the time eBay wants to step in (and who even knows now what that might mean... more waiting most likely) it will be almost a month since I paid for my item and received absolutely no response, whatsoever, from the seller and no item. I will no longer purchase items on eBay and I will let others know that as well. -100 IF IT WAS ALLOWED. Ebay's behavior is as deceptive as the sellers has been.

Ebay decided to refund me the purchase money.
Original Review: Oct. 2, 2017
The eBay listing was for a used Sony Playstation 3 console. One photograph showed a painted unit. The description read: “I have a Ps3 slim 320gb comes with controller and cords and Need For Speed Shift works perfect.” As a side note, I have some reason to believe the seller is under 18 years of age, which violates eBay’s terms of service. I would be happy to list my reasoning if it is requested. Once item was purchased, I was informed that a ribbon cable was on order to repair the console. I was not informed beforehand that I was purchasing a broken console that was in the process of being repaired.
Upon receiving the item, it reeked with cigarette smoke and chemicals. The exterior is highly damaged with holes and channels cut into it. The electrical cord input was loose, and the eject and power buttons stick, as they are caked with some type of glue or paint. Upon examination I find insect husks and parts in some of the cracks and crevices. The hard drive is covered in insect feces consistent with those of mites.
At this point I remove the top cover for the purpose of checking the quality, and any other unspecified damage as well as providing photos. Several Phillips screws were removed and the Torx tamper proof screws were missing. Under the cover revealed a plethora of mite feces and cigarette tar on much of the surface of the electrical components, as well as full and partial insect exoskeletons as well as parts. No components under the cover were touched, and the console was immediately moved outside of my home for fear of an infestation transferring. This person denied a return, offered an exchange, told me not to contact him. I had opened a case file for a return and the case was moved to the status of the seller approving the return and creating a return label. However no label was sent to me. I stopped contacting the seller per their request.
I called eBay and explained the situation and was told that eBay would refund my money. I said “what happens if he does send the label, and I return the item. I want a refund; I do not want anything else from that seller as the first item was a health risk.” I was informed again, to send it back and eBay would refund me. I was told if the seller does not provide the label, eBay will provide further instruction after the third business day. During the weekend I receive 2 emails, on a Sunday evening, one that the seller had asked for eBay’s help, and another saying the case was closed that eBay made a final decision.
Why did I have to wait so long but the seller gets an answer immediately, and during non-business hours? Now, after my waiting the case was closed and only the person on the telephone got to hear my side of the story, who said I would be refunded. My pictures were never asked for while eBay was making their decision. The decision was ruled in favor of the seller because the item was "opened." However it was opened for the sole purpose of taking photos and "For the purpose of checking the quality, characteristics and functioning of the item." Per the eBay money back guarantee. The purchase also included a game (which had the feces in the case, along with a brown, gooey, liquidy substance which to the extent of my knowledge could just as well be mice urine) and a controller which I did not bother looking at nor telling eBay about as it was the least of my worries.

When you go to the page to make the order, the lowest price is for something completely different, and always a much higher price for the item you thought you were gong to get in the first place. This wastes your time and pisses you off. How can we stop them from doing this!

When item purchased was not received, I went through the proper channels of filing a case with eBay. I sent eBay a police report; a USPS theft report; documentation that I was not at home when the package was supposedly delivered. I followed all the eBay directions, and was told no refund; no explanation; just no refund. An eBay employee told me to say I received the package but nothing was inside; also sent me an email telling me that was the way eBay could help me. I refused to file a false report. I spoke with managers and was told there was nothing they could do. The eBay money back guarantee was not worth the paper it was written on. Will never ever use eBay or Paypal again; will share story with everyone I can using any means available. Will file report with State of California.

It makes me so upset to think that eBay gives false hope to letting sellers know that sellers are "protected" when selling on eBay. I've been selling on eBay for many years. I sold a MacBook air and shipped it out to the buyer who is located in Alabama. I shipped it with tracking and signature confirmation and although it's not mandatory for sellers to purchase additional insurance for the seller, I shipped it out anyways. Fast forward 2 weeks later, buyer opens a request requesting refund because it was never delivered. Tracking shows that it's just delayed, not lost. After immense investigation calling the buyer's USPS and distribution facility, USPS thinks the most logical explanation is that the label was somehow altered enough that the shipping address is unreadable. For packages with damaged labels, packages will be sent to another facility to be sorted out and it can take anywhere from 90-120 days to find it but that's not even guaranteed.
It's not the seller or buyer's fault but eBay immediately sided with the buyer and gave the full refund of almost $600 back to the buyer without even suggesting that the buyer wait it out a bit longer (because the package can actually be delayed). Then suggest to me that if for any reason the item gets delivered later, I can request the buyer to give me back the funds or return the MacBook. How incredibly STUPID of eBay to think that any person out there would give back the money if they basically received a free MacBook!!! I'm so turned off at how eBay's "escalation specialist" handled this situation.
Things I learned from eBay: Never ship to anyone living in rural Alabama. This buyer probably lives in some disgusting swamp and has a bad address. No wonder USPS says the package is delayed because they probably can't figure out which craphole you live in. eBay "escalation specialists" should probably figure out a different title for their career. You don't even do the BARE MINIMUM and just give back refunds to the buyer without even considering the seller's situation. I will be closing my eBay account after all these years of selling because I'm disgusted at their seller "protection" policy and will tell everyone what a horrific experience this was. Bye Felicia.

I have been shopping on eBay since 2000. In the beginning the climate felt quite different than now. I liked bidding in auctions as it challenged me to really think about what I was trying to buy, and what value it had for me. But monitoring auctions can be very time-consuming and especially those closing in the middle of the night. I was really happy when I found sniping software so that I didn't have to sit in front of my computer waiting for an auction to end.
In the early years I used eBay to find my hobby supplies which can be quite expensive, and of course my daughter went through the Beanie Baby craze. As she reached middle school she went from tomboy to wanting to dress designer style. And styles do change quickly. EBay afforded us the opportunity to buy at prices we could comfortably afford such as buying a $115.00 Baby Phat Satin Bomber Jacket for $35.00. I'm also not opposed to buying used clothing or shoes as long as they are in good condition. I bought name brand and designer clothing and accessories at a fraction of the retail price. I love antique porcelain both European and Asian. EBay was my hog heaven. I can't say that I had a lot of problems shopping on eBay as overall my experiences have been good. I've had a few transaction problems with sellers over the years, and for the most part was able to settle disputes satisfactorily. My interactions with eBay and Paypal's customer services have been good, and only in very few situations felt it could be handled differently.
The community boards on eBay have been very helpful in learning how to handle most of the situations that came up. There have been a lot of policy changes over the years some good, and some bad. Fraud seems to be increasing especially with buyers. It's important to learn how to minimize risk and loss. I don't buy much internationally anymore, and when I do they tend to be low-value items, and low weight because returns are pricey. The majority of non-deliveries and not as described were international purchases.
Overall, I still love shopping on eBay, but it does feel much more impersonal. The policy changes have also affected sellers in a negative way by creating tensions with the dispute process. Sellers cannot leave negative feedback which I see as a mistake and disadvantage. I feel that sellers should be permitted to comment when they aren't paid, or when there is clear evidence of a fraudulent return. It has become much more adversarial and a one size fits all return policy has insufficient protection for sellers in some cases. In the very least there should be a mechanism for appeals when a seller doesn't receive their merchandise back, or receives something significantly different, or their item is not returned in the same condition.
I think that most people selling on eBay are individuals and I feel eBay needs to consider that when making changes to policy. I don't see pushing sellers to have 30-day return policy is feasible because most can't afford to sit on the money for 30 days to make sure the customer is happy with their purchase. Fine for brick and mortar businesses that have capital funds and alternative revenue streams. However, as in any venue, you take precautions to protect yourself, and do provide quality service to avoid customer dissatisfaction.
Auctions can be fun and at times you get a great price. I love that eBay is still a place where you can find the unusual and rare. On the other side, fixed price sales can minimize exposure to buyers who don't pay by requiring immediate payment. If your seller doesn't deliver the buyer is protected by eBay's guarantees. Buyers also need to make sure that they have a safe place to receive packages as well. Many a package has gone missing after delivery so if you are purchasing a high-value item signature delivery minimizes the possibility of loss. The packages should be insured full value as well should it go missing or damaged. EBay is still a great place to have fun buying, and a unique website where almost anyone and everything can be sold.

Let me just say, if you’re thinking about selling on eBay beware that they don't protect the sellers like they say they do. Both eBay and PayPal are for whom ever is paying the money and how much they will make, it’s not for what's right and wrong or as written that they protect the sellers from buyers, like for instance, a buyer, even after having the purchased item from the seller can come back several months later and complain they have issues with the items or just changed their mind and want a refund even when you as a seller disagree due to it clearly says per sellers return policy all sales are final. This is mandatory when listing an item to sell on eBay. You are stepped through a listing process that asks you about returns if you will accept or not.
eBay claims to protect the seller by their policy and procedures, you have to follow the rules that change or made unclear to the seller at first "like the fine print". You could say that because they are big businesses they get away with a lot. When listing an item the seller has to go through eBay's listing process and it’s confusing because they have a listing program you’re walked through to describe what you're selling and procedures that they want the sellers to follow each and every time you post an item.

Thanks to bad information given to me by a live person when I called eBay customer service I am now out almost $300 dollars and growing. I attempted to return a refurbished cell phone. I paid almost $12 to get a return shipping label that, on multiple computers I was unable to print. I contacted eBay regarding the issue and lost track of time while waiting for a response. Flash forward 30 days and I receive a message from eBay stating the seller received the item and a refund was issued though I hadn't even sent it back yet? I immediately call eBay and I'm told that is an automated message they send assuming everything has been taken care of. I ask what should I do. I explain the entire situation and I'm told not to worry about the 30 day return policy, I should mail the item back myself and call eBay back with the tracking number. I was told they would take care of it and even refund my original shipping I was unable to use.
I mailed the phone back splurging for 2 day, certified shipping. The phone was confirmed returned August 16 and still, today 09/03/2017 no refund. I call eBay again and I'm told, completely contrary to what I was originally told, eBay cannot help me and at this point it's between me and the seller. Now I'm out around $25 in shipping costs, I'm still paying interest to PayPal on a $250 dollar phone that I don't even possess and I'm at the mercy of the seller to either tell give me a refund or send me back a phone that I cannot use.
I'm a customer that has purchased almost $2500 in goods over the past 6 months and I'm told to pound sand? Had they told me from the first time I had called that they couldn't help that would be one thing but, here I am now left holding the bag because they gave me poor information. If it's eBay policy to jump over dollars to pick up dimes good luck with that business model. Competition is fierce in this arena of selling right now.

First off, every single customer service rep that I speak to (which is often because there are always hiccups) sounds the same. I feel like eBay just clones their workers like oompa loompas. Secondly, why is it that even for the simplest of issues they have to transfer me to somebody else (which again sounds like the same person) an average of 3 times each call? Everything takes FOREVER and they are always so rude and condescending.
I feel guilty because they make it sound like I am wasting their time for calling them and making do their job. When time comes around when eBay takes whatever percent they do of your sales, I really have such great disdain that I want to throw up thinking about giving these people a dime of my sales. I guess what I am trying to say is to use "Let It Go" app or Facebook to sell your items. You deal with people directly and nobody is going to take a percentage off the top. (I have been buying on eBay for years, and am usually pleased with items bought, prices, shipping times, and interactions with sellers. I will continue to buy from eBay.) My main problems with buying from eBay are that sellers may describe items incorrectly, send the wrong item, or quality of a manufactured item may be poor. For example, I ordered a pair of plain black espadrilles and received a pair in a leopard print. (Seller did give me a full refund.)
I ordered a woman's top by Adrienne Vittadini and received one by Adrianna Papell. (I decided to keep this item because it was too much trouble to return it.) I also bought an Arksen portable washing machine which malfunctioned on the first day it arrived and ceased to work completely within a week. After posting this review - below, I get a call from eBay Customer Service 9/1/17. (NOTHING I said during the message process on eBay gave me any indication that they cared to resolve this issue.) It took this review. They were very careful not to admit they may have been wrong (calling defective shoes "buyer's remorse", or suggesting I just resell them - which IMHO is totally dishonest) etc but once I posted my review, they refunded me anyway. I checked my PayPal balance and the refund was there.
Well after that I get ANOTHER message from them today 9/2/17 saying: 'The corrections team responded and unfortunately, because you filed a chargeback with PayPal (case id: **), we are unable to grant you your refund.' What is crazy is I was TOLD by the eBay customer support team that I should file for a refund through PayPal because they would not do anything about the issue. When I got the last email from them on 9/2/17 they had already issued the refund. I suppose now they are going to raid my PayPal account? They had to gall to suggest I read their policy? It appears their policy is a MESS.
How rude and how far down the Rabbit hole of bad customer support do you go??? I sincerely hope if they ever call me again I should get a written and documented APOLOGY because as a customer I do NOT deserve being treated this way. All I wanted to do was return shoes that were not the same length. Unfortunately I could not alter my right foot to use them. I currently have them up for sale for a dollar but unlike the unscrupulous person that sold them to me I define the lengths of each shoe. And no, no one has bid on them as you can imagine. The Buy-It-Now option can be the most expedient and less expensive option, but often the shipping costs are ridiculously inflated to cover the low item cost.
