I been a seller for ten years. I sell my candles at $12. Handmade. eBay without my permission or knowledge keep turning on best offer at $6. This candle take me five hours to make and dry. I am sick of turning it back off every day. They only care for them to get their fees faster not if we lose from our pockets.

I canceled an order because I lost some items from the lot. When I moved the mouse close to the icon "just paid" that indicate that the buyer paid for the merchandise I activated the eBay icon without clicking on it. I found the missed items and I believed that the customer have already paid so I emailed her to tell that I would restore the order and send the items. She didn't answer and I thought that she agreed. When I realized that she received the items but she didn't pay and eBay icon "just paid" was wrong, I tried to make her pay for the items, a lot of jewelry, 23 pieces like necklaces, earrings, brooches, and bracelets. She refused to pay me by telling that I canceled the order and she didn't want the items anymore. I spent $6.7 to send the items and I bought a new label for $8 to get the items back.

I sent her the free label by email and this thief told me that she spoke to an eBay representative who told her to keep the merchandise and not to pay. I reminded her of the free label that she could use to send for free the items back and this thief refused. She also told me that an eBay representative said that I was a very bad seller and she didn't have to return anything. eBay refused to help me. This parasite kept my items. I reported her and nobody cared. Neither eBay responded in any way. She is still buying in the same company and until now she has no remorse neither intention to pay for the merchandise or return it. If you are a seller, I would recommend to go somewhere else. eBay is a dangerous place to do business if you are a seller.

As a seller, people can return products because they no longer want the item. I sold a laptop and the buyer stated that the laptop was described as a brand new, but was not. 1) I marked the laptop as used. 2) Light scratches and a dent were described. 3) He felt he paid too much. He purchased the laptop for $218. He messaged me stating that he would not request a refund if I gave him a $63 refund. This means he would have received an HP Envy 15 TS laptop with some small cosmetic issues for $155. This same buyer has had several returns after searching through forums and is still a member on eBay. EBAY DOES NOT DO RESEARCH INTO THE PROBLEM. They allow buyers to return for anything, despite describing the product accurately. I have now paid $30 on shipping to keep my item.

Attention if you are a seller, so it works eBay buyer makes his purchase. After a few weeks the buyer tells eBay, "I do not authorize that purchase. Someone stole my account. I want my refund" and I do not understand why eBay always agrees with the buyer and I, as a seller, lost a lot of money. There are many honest buyers but there are also many buyers who steal.

They stole my $54.99. The seller never sent me my order. I used the tracking number and found they used a wrong address. They refused to return my money because they did not have a return address so it is somewhere in USPS limbo and eBay sided with the seller and on the appeal because they didn't get the shipment back from USPS!!! That would be the seller's fault on all counts and they will not let me leave feedback.

I have been an eBay member since 2001 with 100% positive reviews. I bought a BIN (buy-it-now) cell phone worth $1000 in May 2018, from a decade old eBay member with over 6,000+ reviews and 98%+ positive feedbacks. Upon clicking 'BUY-NOW', a message popped up saying "Seller do not accept payments now, please contact the seller with a personal email" and that's when my eBay nightmare started!

I contacted the seller, who was accepting $1,000 thru' eBay gift cards only. Seller sent an invoice looked exactly like it came from eBay, including a chat-now link. I bought $1,000 gift cards ($200 x 5) from a local HEB store. Before making the final transaction, I have had a chat with eBay (at least I thought I was talking to Ebay Rep, but it was a fake contact) to verify the seller and the item is legitimate.

After everything, OK-ed and I gave my eBay gift card-numbers (redemption code) via chat on Thursday (and that was the last time I have had any contact with the seller) and the product was supposed to reach me on Monday via FedEx. I tried to reach out to him on Saturday for the tracking number, but no luck. When the product didn't show up as promised, I immediately contacted eBay. I was shocked when eBay said - they neither recognize this item nor the seller in their system! I gave all 5-gift card codes to eBay and they said they locked those cards and nobody can use them, also asked me to scan and send those cards along with purchase receipts.

eBay promised to resolve this in 15-business days or so. I promptly did all that (received a confirmation saying they have all the docs) and waited for eBay to contact me. While I was talking with eBay for the first time, the same seller (with a different ID) was selling the same item for BIN and using the same tricks - i.e. "Do not accept payments now" & "Contact me directly via email" (with a different email). I identified the fake seller to eBay and they said they take care of this.

    It took about 52-mins to explain all this. I thought eBay got this! Never thought eBay is such a mess and disarray. I have called them every other week asking for the updates - every time it was a different Rep with no idea about what was going on. I have had to explain all this again and again, for about 6-times, every other week for 45 mins and every time this got escalated to Rep's Supervisor (sups). I was begging with the sups to assign a caseworker and make notes when we talk, but it never happened and I was running from post to pillar with sups blaming the gift card dept for the delay. After 3 months of this stupidity, in early August 2018, to justify their delay, eBay said they don't have any scanned docs I sent in May and asked me to re-send. Finally, the end of August they sent the below;

"Thank you for providing the requested documentation in regards to the eBay gift card(s) you reported. I have reviewed your situation and, unfortunately, I was unable to recover any balance from the following card(s) because another party was able to obtain and use it prior to your attempt: eBay will not refund you the amount of the gift card(s) as stated in our Terms and Conditions. For your convenience, I have included a link to our Terms and Conditions for review; please refer to points 14, 15, & 16. I recommend that you file a report with your local police. I also recommend you file a complaint with the FBI." I lost $1000, tremendous headache, and unprofessionalism from eBay. eBay is a total chaos when it comes to customer service and their investigation sucks, especially when I have identified the cunning seller on their platform, who was scamming others into this scheme.

I have been a buyer on eBay for 6 years - almost 500 purchases. Always 100% feedback. I recently purchased an item. I was told I needed to use a new checkout method. Not PayPal. I had to put my card number in. Later that day, my card had been hijacked and purchases were mounting. My Mastercard froze the card and contacted me. This was the last straw for me. I have had trouble with Chinese sellers, just not happy in general. Ebay has lost a customer. I have a few packages on the way, and I am done. I will shop elsewhere.

Absolute disgrace. As a seller, who pays Ebay their fees, you are treated as the bad guy in any dispute. Buyer claimed that they hadn't received item, I had the proof of posting, but despite that, Ebay totally disregarded that, and just refunded the buyer, without any warning, causing me to go overdrawn. Would not even refund seller's fees, as to quote the most unhelpful customer adviser... 'we had to step in.' Really?

The fees are extortionate anyway, this has cost me, not only in a refund, but an overdraft fee, and added stress. As a new seller, they also get PayPal to hold any payments for up to 21 days, causing more grief. For anyone thinking of selling there as a way to get a few extra quid, forget it!! It's easier, and more straightforward to do a car boot! At least that way, you get your money straight away, you don't get buyers saying they haven't received something, and you don't have to pay for the privilege of selling, or deal with a customer service team that have no intention of helping you.

Despite a clean record, it takes one buyer to completely wreck your selling experience. Customer bought an item, didn't wait to receive it, never contacted me, nothing. I called up eBay and apparently it's my fault. USPS hasn't delivered in the item, just a year ago, they looked into delays, in fact, they still do on their policies. eBay employee deflected the topic and used buyer "opinion", I didn't know threats were considered opinions, demanding refund and even stating they would leave a negative feedback; absolutely abhorred. Do not sell on here, you are a statistic in "their" domain. I was forced to refund, or face trouble despite them "having your back". It seems this site's true nature is: take losses, you can afford to, there's nothing you can do about it.

eBay is very customer focused. Unless YOU are the seller/customer. Their policies for selling are subject to their interpretation. Which is say, if they want a policy to apply, it will. If they do not, it won't. If you attempt to reason with them about this, their response is, "our decision is final." After telling you to go ahead and appeal they then tell you there is no recourse. If they decide to suspend your account, it is unable to be closed. Since you cannot reinstate your account, you also cannot close your account. Given the unstable nature of their policies, the fact you cannot close your account is inexcusable. After many years of being a top seller on eBay, my best recommendation is that you take your selling services elsewhere when possible.

An eBay seller since 2000, until this last one I had 374 continuous transactions all with 100% positive feedback. I have always obeyed the eBay rules. I have better communications in terms of depth and speed; ship and pack much better; and each transaction I sell has my customer getting at least three emails from me plus a ship date email with tracking number. Every time. I am a legend at description and have many many superlative comments in the all positive feedbacks.

A few week ago I sold my grandson's very expensive, almost brand new, and perfectly functioning game computer on an auction listing. When the buyer won it, he/it send a message in response to request to pay that he no longer wanted it. When I refused to cancel, he posted the only negative feedback I have ever gotten that I wouldn't let him walk. eBay's response to my complaint about the buyer was they would ask him to withdraw the feedback. He/it of course never responded. eBay won't withdraw the feedback. Horrible support for someone who has gone to lengths less than 1% of all the eBay sellers go to insure perfection. eBay is a computer run, techno-nerd money maker that has abandoned its original principles: do it right, do it fairly, feedback is the essence of the program.

I've just sold an item on eBay. I shipped it the same day I received notification that the item was bought. Then I received a notification that the proceeds of the sale will not be available to me for 21 days. At first I thought I'd neglected to update a credit card or something, but I called Customer Service and discovered that a new eBay policy requires such a blockage of funds for any customer who has not sold 25 items. They say I've sold only 6. Well, I've been an eBay customer since 2003, and have mainly been a buyer. I have never received any negative feedback. Withholding funds from a loyal customer is not just a bad business practice, it's unethical.

Here's some news, eBay. First, placing obstructions in the path of customers is not conducive to building your business. Second, you do not have a monopoly; customers have options. Third, you should pay interest on the withheld funds. Fourth, take a look at your aggregate customer experience ratings; less than two out of five stars! This one drove it even lower.

I hope you get more ratings and reviews with this kind of negative review. You're going to get nineteen more from me as I crawl up to 25 items sold. Oh!, and those items will be worth $1, and you can hold my payments for ten years if you like. Meanwhile I'll find another way to turn my valuable items into cash. Immediate cash that is. Ha!

One representative moved item to 'HIDDEN' under my unpaid tab and told me resolved. One rep told me she needed authorization from the seller, despite a clear message history authorizing. Finally, I called to CLOSE EBAY ACCOUNT and was told I couldn't because I have an unpaid item in cart!!! Either I am being scammed by eBay or or by eBay's seller but either way, eBay is RESPONSIBLE for transactions made on their site. Disappointed would be an understatement. The post office could not print the return label from my phone. I was unable to go to library like I was told to do from eBay. The requirement was to be able to have the return label printed from my email. Because I couldn't get it printed I couldn't get a refund. The damn thing is still my drawer. A sad reminder of how untrustworthy eBay money back guarantees are. I even begged eBay and the seller to mail me through the regular mailman mail so I could receive it the regular way. Both refused. I'm still angry about this. This was the second item I was stiffed on. Beware. I have used eBay for over 10 years. Very occasionally you have to give negative feedback to honestly reflect an experience. I had to do this recently after purchasing a "fake" mobile phone battery. I did not want to go through the rigmarole and cost of sending the item back, and gave the negative feedback to reflect my interaction with the seller and to warn others. I started to get emails from the seller saying that I shouldn't have given negative feedback. I reported the situation to "Customer Services" (actually they should be called the sellers protection mob) who initially told me they would report the inappropriate behaviour of the seller and block any more emails being sent to me. Next day, another email from the seller, this time with personal insults.

Contacted CS again. Yes seller had been reported but no... emails "could not be stopped" as it is their "right" to contact the buyer. I pointed out that the contact was now nothing to do with the transaction or even the feedback. It was just harassment and insults. EBAY WERE/ARE NOT BOTHERED ABOUT ME RECEIVING SUCH MESSAGES AS A RESULT OF GIVING HONEST FEEDBACK!! So it OK for a seller to sell fake products and to harass you when you give negative feedback. Great eh. eBay are operating a sellers protection racket!!

The seller did not accept returns and declined the return. The representative told me eBay cases cannot be reopened and that I should contact Paypal. I went to Paypal which shows no open or closed cases. Paypal also states that no refund can be made.

After 1 hour on the phone with three separate representatives, including one from the Appeals department who told me files cannot be reopened (hello, what is Appeals then????). When I go to dispute the charges in Paypal, it sends me back to the eBay resolution center, which again refers me back to Paypal and so forth. After a hold with Paypal for 20 minutes yet another case was opened, waiting for the same seller's response. (When I try to dispute the transaction on the Paypal website, it says I can't dispute the case because I have an open case in eBay, but the case has long since been closed, yet it states that it is open in Paypal).

Only one Ebay representative could give me an ID and none of the other representatives would do so, citing that they are not allowed to give out personal information. Since when was an ID number personal information?? Finally, I have been given a case ID by Paypal: ** after yet another 1/2 hour wait on hold. I am of course given a systematic run-around in the hopes that I'll give up, which frankly I'm about to do. What needs to be considered when purchasing anything on eBay (if this wasn't enough) is that you are likely to spend 1 1/2 hours trying to get your money back - is it really worth your time?

After getting this info, lowered the price to help sell item. After 2-3 tries finally sold the item. Came time to ship, I went back to eBay. They said to buy shipping on eBay, print the label and send. I paid for shipping and printed label. Again I was not asked any questions about the size etc. I packed the item to the smallest box that would fit.

When I printed the label, they had me ship 2nd day Air. The cost was what I was told. So l shipped it. Took it to the post office. No problems. That’s when everything went south. They contacted me telling me they had to pay extra postage which I could understand except the postage was now 4 times what l was quoted. I contacted eBay and was told to contact the Post Office where it was shipped.

After finally reaching the seller's post office, I was told it was overweight. Again I went by eBay's quote. That part made sense, the item was supposed to be 2 pounds. Actually weighed 4 pounds, again I could see that since the quote could be a little off Which might increase the price a little, then I was told the size of package was oversize. So l contacted eBay. After several calls I was told that had no control over shipping cost. I explained that I got my quote for shipping off their site. That I bought and paid for shipping on their site.

If I had known the shipping was going to be so high, I would made my price higher or made the shipping cost higher. They told me that wasn’t their problem and I had to pay this exorbitant Cost. I ended up losing money on this sale. They had lured me in by selling the exact same product. They had all the info including the weight and size. The old bait and switch. Seller beware selling on eBay. I have no problems buying on eBay. I believe they used the old bait and switch.

When you list something for sale on eBay there is a box that is checked that says automatically list my item up to 8 times if it doesn't sell. So if your item doesn't sell they just automatically relist it and if you don't have any free listings left for that month they charge you for listing it each and every time. Which can run into some money depends how many items you have listed. When you're listing your item you can uncheck that box and one would assume you're safe from any charges but if your item doesn't sell and you go to relist it again this box is AUTOMATICALLY checked again and if you don't uncheck it again it will auto relist and again you have possible charges.

I think this is a REAL LOW LIFE way of eBay making money and I wonder how many people they are screwing over doing this. I've tried talking to eBay on a few different occasions and you get nowhere with the foreigners. They just told me no one has reported this happening before when I called and told them about it just 2 weeks ago. Do they really be needing to steal money from people?

The worst company on the internet. Gave me an offer to sell three items, and get £5 back for each. They applied the vouchers on my account, stupidly I forgot to print screen this, which I usually do (knowing they take vouchers off your account.) So I have the vouchers in my account, they were there last night. This morning when about to buy an expensive table saw with one voucher, and something else with the other voucher, (as they came in two separate vouchers) I find eBay have removed them!

Spent half the morning on chat with them. They tried to advise me that I can still accept the offer, in other words... go sell three more items... nice that hey? Luckily for me I print screened the accepted voucher code to sell and get £5 for each item back. I sent the print screen and the representative says 'yes, I can see you have accepted the offer now.' Funny that hey! Because she couldn't before the proof arrived in her mailbox. Now I have to wait 60 days for the vouchers they took from me, to be given back. I bet I don't receive them, and will have to rage on at them to get them. I am very angry about it. So table saw now being bought from Amazon. I was going to set up a business account too to sell, that is not happening. I will buy from eBay if I have to, but never sell again. And I will try and find items elsewhere before buying from eBay.

I actually hate this company, they lie, and they do it all legally. Everything I said to them, the vouchers I had on account was the truth, but they can just say “I can't see it”. Too convenient. The amount of problems I have had with them over 15 years is ridiculous! But most of the problems of this kind in the last few years, they have gone right downhill. They make a mistake, and it is always on you, they should have honoured the vouchers. Do not trust these voucher codes and offers, print screen everything you get on your account! I say this because it will happen to everyone if they are not vigilant.

They said they could cancel the transaction but that it would have a negative mark against me; otherwise, I have to wait 48 hours for the transaction to cancel if the "buyer" doesn't pay for the item. What this "buyer" was trying to do was get me to do the sale transaction outside of eBay. When I brought it to their attention what was happening, they only offered the aforementioned "resolutions," as well as informing me that I could give this person a negative review as a buyer. When I asked to speak to the customer service representative's (CSR) manager, he refused to let me speak to anyone; he said he was already doing all he could to help. The CSR would not offer any other alternatives to the issue. So, it seems that scammers can get away with whatever they want on eBay, but the true & honest people on here get shafted.

This has been over a year, there are now over 9000 digital movie codes on eBay. I want my block lifted as I did not do anything wrong, nor did eBay have a legal right to block me.

I was told that I have to wait for 21 days after the item received by the buyer.

My USPS tracking showed the item is delivered on 10/9/2018. No fund on 10/31/2018! I called eBay again. First, the rep told me eBay already released the fund to Paypal, so ask Paypal. Transferred to Paypal who told me the buyer canceled the transaction. I called eBay again. This time the rep said to me that because I didn't have the bank in Paypal, so my money being held by eBay. As soon as I set-up a bank in Paypal, my money will go there. Set-up a bank in Paypal. Still no fund! Called eBay again and was told that the buyer did cancel the payment and eBay now can't do anything because the timeline of 32 days had passed. WHAT?

I continuously called and question and was told so many different lies by eBay. If the buyer canceled the transaction, why I wasn't notified. Instead, eBay rushed me to ship the item and pay the selling fee! Second, when I called the first/second/third times, why didn't eBay tell me the truth so the issue can be resolved within the time frame they set! All I can say is that eBay had turned into a scam organization!

Nothing is documented as they say it is, and you have to go through 10 reps to even get one that speaks fluent English. eBay has enough money to hire representatives that can speak every language in the world but they choose not to understand their customers. For example, a buyer of a wallet claimed it arrived water damaged. eBay refunded his purchase price and shipping. I am transferring all possible selling to Amazon, which has much more clearly stated policies and communication.

eBay lets sellers decide whether they want to accept returns or not and some sellers use that to their advantages by providing very little info of the items they sell to avoid the "not as stated" situation and refuse to accept returns. I purchased a bracelet from the seller "bella2009rebecca" and she didn't list the size or the dimension of the bracelet, and in the end, it was too big for my hand but the seller refused to accept the return even I offered to pay the shipping.

I originally thought eBay's money back guaranteed can help me return the item but I was wrong (DON'T TRUST EBAY MONEY GUARANTEED, IT'S NOT). I thought I would have been more careful if I had been warned about the "no return" and "no money guaranteed" facts so I left a feedback to warn other buyers to watch out for this seller who doesn't accept returns in matter of fact statement but eBay removed my feedback quickly. I've bought several things in eBay because I thought they had "money back guaranteed". Now I know they don't, it's just a slogan. They really don't care about their buyers.

I tried contacting the seller, of course they don't reply, they're from China. A normal converter should be able to last for years, not 8 months. eBay customer service didn't do anything about it, just transferred me to PayPal and told me to ask for their buyer dispute, but PayPal never answers the phone, 1.5 hours of being on hold already and no one ever picked up. I listed a USED item with eBay, a helmet. I listed photos of the item, and wrote in my description it was used with a few minor blemishes. Someone purchased my item and I shipped it out as instructed. Sending tracking information to the buyer via eBay, again as instructed. 4 days after the item was delivered, the buyer sent me a message saying she wanted to return the item because it was defective. I couldn't understand what she meant because she stated you could "feel" the issue, and not see it. The photo she sent of the "damaged" area was clearly shown in my ad of the USED helmet. I escalated the issue with eBay, because I didn't feel it fair to accept the return. After much back and forth with eBay they ruled in favor of the buyer and FORCED me to accept her return. Now, after accepting my fate, I expected to receive tracking information from the buyer, as eBay stated she would send. I never received said tracking information.

Today, Sunday, I receive an email notification from eBay stating they've gone ahead and debited my PayPal account the amount for the buyer paid for the item... the first correspondence received from eBay since they advised me they had ruled in favor of the buyer, 9 days earlier. I have no item... I have no tracking number. I call eBay and they've advised me that it was sent to some address I had on file with eBay... not the return address, which I admittedly did not enter (as I didn't believe it necessary when setting up my account since there is a button the seller click that says DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS). So no effort was made on anyone's part to verify my address, here I sit on a Sunday, while eBay tells me to call USPS to attempt to re-deliver the package to the correct address, to which I am having no luck because it's Sunday and they're closed, and of course the automated system can't understand my name.

I ask to be forwarded to an eBay supervisor, who literally gives me the same song and dance as the last guy... so I'm out $164 and have no item. To say eBay's seller customer service side is a joke is an understatement, if possible I would've given them negative stars. Don't bother selling anything used since the buyer can simply claim the item is "defective" and return it weeks later. Ebay will not take into consideration the photos or narrative exchanged between buyer and seller, nor will they ask the seller for their side of the story. The buyer can simply click a button, use your item for weeks and then return it.

Recently I had an auction in which I started the process using another member's post and began with "Sell similar". There is clearly a glitch in the eBay system. The previous person's auction must have had a designated box size and their shipping amount was different than what I clearly chose. I always choose priority prepaid shipping boxes because the amount to be charged is always consistent and guaranteed.

I noticed after the 1st bid that the shipping price being charged to the bidder was less than what I had chosen. God knows eBay gets enough in their fees and I was not willing to take any loss due to their glitch. After 3 calls to eBay and he having the agent need to speak to a supervisor they reluctantly paid back the 80 cents difference which will take 72 hours to show up in my account. Due to all this time and 3 calls, I requested a good faith credit in the amount of $15 be placed on my account for future fees. (To compensate for my lost time in tracking down their glitch.) Long story short answer was NO! After 45 minutes to an hour over 3 separate calls, they're willing to put $5 credit on my account. #Ebaycheapskates. I think it might be time to look at other sites in which to sell products such as FC let go or similar.

My biggest mistake ever was to buy a purse on eBay. I only did so because Michael Kors had discontinued the style and I loved it! The purse arrived too late to be used as the birthday gift it was intended for. When it finally arrived, it was an ugly, cheap copy of the original Michael Kors bag which I own. I contacted the seller immediately to ask her to issue a return label. She refused. I continued to press for a return label, but the seller said that she was being harassed and cut me off. The purse cost more than $100, so I was not about to give up. I tried to open a dispute but the seller opened a dispute blocking my dispute. I called eBay multiple times. Each time I was put on hold and transferred to various customer service reps in the Philippines, who practice asking how you are feeling today, among other niceties. It must be part of their training since they all say the exact same things.

What they do not do is help you get your money back. Finally I was able to communicate that I was caught in a Catch 22 since the seller refused to issue me a return label, knew the ropes, and had blocked my attempts to put in a claim for a return. She did not want her cheap copy returned, since she had $107.25 of my money, and the bag was basically worthless. eBay asked for 5 days to resolve the matter. After 5 days I called back, was routed again to the Philippines and so on for a total of 15 days. After many, many hours of frustrated attempts to communicate with eBay, I got lucky and a rep in the US answered the line. He told me that he would give the seller 5 days to issue a return label. If she did not do so, he said I could keep the purse and get a full refund. He sent me a worthless email verifying our conversation. The five days passed without a refund, (surprise, surprise) and I called again.

This time I was told I had to call PayPal since eBay no longer had anything to do with the transaction. PayPal refused to issue a refund since I did not have a PayPal account. They had opened a temporary one for me when I purchased the bag (I knew nothing about a PayPal account ) but it was now closed. PayPal calls are also routed to the Philippines, with lengthy wait times and plenty of niceties IF someone finally answers. PayPal said they could not refund my money since the seller had blocked the refund by opening a dispute. They gave me the transaction number and told me to call eBay.

I said I had no success with eBay and they told me it was because I did not have the transaction number. (you should be laughing by now, but the sad thing is this really happened!) After more hours on the phone, with no results, I opened a dispute with my credit card company. To be continued. PayPal has the money according to eBay and will hold it until the dispute is resolved. That will take 60-90 days! NEVER AGAIN will I ever, ever buy anything on eBay! Truly a nightmare. My first eBay PayPal experience is my last.

We wanted to get some information in writing, because too many eBay employees are giving conflicting information. eBay staff state one condition for the terms of their sellers promotion in email before a sale, but then different terms at a higher percentage than advertised are billed after the sale. eBay's promotional sellers offer states the promotion is eligible for "Good till Cancelled" listings at a maximum sellers fee of $20 for items that sell over $200, but after the item sells (which we have reduced our BIN prices believing eBay's promotional offer in writing will be honored before selling), we get billed for the standard 10% rate. Each person we talk to at eBay, makes their own statements conflicting each other with arrogance and illogic to the terms written in the offer.

We believe eBay policy is trying to trick us a seller into reducing our prices, so eBay's cash flow increases, and hopes other sellers will not complain or give up when the billing is much more than original seller terms advertised. We believe this is the reason why Jeff, a supervisor, states there is no way to communicate with eBay in writing and therefore, there is no record for non-eBay customer/sellers to have written proof of when one eBay employee makes one statement and it conflicts with another eBay employee and the written terms of the seller's offer. We hope more sellers will read our stated experiences and organize the action required against eBay's deceit and fraud.

BUYERS BEWARE!!! I bought 20 PSP game consoles listed as good working condition from seller in Japan and received absolute garbage so I opened a return on them. Get a message from eBay that I am to ship these back myself (no return label provided because he is not in U.S.???) But they assure me the seller is responsible for the shipping costs. Well I go to the post office and spend around an hour there and get them shipped at a cost of $180 dollars. I then send the seller the total for shipping with pictures proving this. He ignores it, so I call eBay and they say, "Sorry can't help you."

So it cost me $180 dollars and hours of my time dealing with this. Absolutely insane that they sent me the message to ship them back and telling me I am going to be reimbursed for the return shipping which turned out to be a BIG FAT LIE. Do not buy off of eBay if you are going to spend more than a few dollars because they will NOT protect you from a big seller. I WILL BE POSTING THIS EVERYWHERE I CAN THINK OF.

I paid return shipping. Send the item back to seller. After 15 days, got message from seller, "We didn't receive your item, so we didn't pay any refund." eBay customer service said, "It's seller decision. We didn't do anything and eBay is not responsible anything." I understand that, eBay didn't help anything if any issues come seller. My money and time wasted.

I've been a seller for 25+ years on eBay. The one thing that separated eBay from all the rest was the thrill of buying and selling. There was always that "time" element - "should I buy now", "I have to hurry up and research other sites for same or similar items for better pricing...". "Is the Buyer/Seller reputable..." plus so many other emotions, which simply made you, well it made you excited about buying and/or selling.

eBay has always strived to be #1 in the marketplace. They simply couldn't handle being overrun by someone called "Amazon". For the past 10+ years, eBay had and still is, changing their policies every few weeks to become "Amazon Lite". However, in reality, eBay has become "Amazon HEAVY". They have instituted so many rules that if you really wanted to understand them all, you would need a full-time lawyer sitting beside you.

Their latest policy to become more like Amazon, was instituting the 14-day rule of pricing. They won't let you create "sale discounts" on items until your item has remained untouched for 14 days. Basically they want you to keep your item listed indefinitely which creates more revenue for eBay but gives no incentive to the buyer to hurry up and make a decision. They know your item will be there in 2 hours, 24 hours even 24 days! So they have all the time in the world to go and research everyone else's items. Even if you do manage to wait it out and get a sale going, should a buyer grab your item, they can still return it within 30 days if they find another cheaper somewhere else. eBay's stance is simply, "List your item for as cheap as it can be..." In other words, "Don't even try to make money on your items because you will lose against China..."

I can go on and on, but the bottom line is this: All Marketplaces are vying for consumers to shop and buy from their "Non-Physical" store. They will do everything in their power to simply become a "Virtual Store Shelf" where a buyer can stop, buy, look, leave and perhaps come back to that shelf again later on. Although I agree that sellers should be fair in all transactions, this doesn't take away from the fact that eBay has lost all of its original design "excitement in the marketplace".

There are fewer and fewer auctions on eBay as many buyers simply cannot compete against the overseas giant, China. Since China also wedged their way into California, they have successfully tricked buyers into thinking they are buying locally, which if researched more, they would see these items are not located in the USA.

Is eBay still a good marketplace? I do tip my hat to the team for creating a safe atmosphere for people to trade goods. However, eBay will never be Amazon and they need to stop wriggling their policies towards becoming another Amazon. If eBay wants to set themselves apart and become the super giant they once were, they need to get back to their grassroots and reanalyze what made them great, the "thrill of the Sale".

So what if sellers and buyers get negative feedback. What are we, 4 years old? Why do we need to be told to go take a "Time Out"? Since when did it become eBay's policy to become "Mommy or Daddy" and tell us we did something wrong? Sellers who continue to perform badly will eventually fade out. Buyers who continue to show bad transactions will eventually be outed and eBay will kick them off. eBay! Can't you see you are spending just as much time trying to enforce the bazillion rules and regs you now have in place trying to make your marketplace a safe environment? Going back to your roots, sure, it was a lot of appeals for this and that, but it was much simpler. Trying to automate everything, even customer service isn't always the answer.

Eh - what do I know anymore. I'm old and outdated. I can only say that eBay is not what it once was and I honestly feel eBay has lost all sense in knowing who they are today. Hey eBay? There's still money to be made, but I think you would make even more by going a little backwards with your business plan. I'll still try and sell on eBay as I have nothing better to do with my time or the remainder of my life. However, for the items I just want sitting on a shelf collecting dust - I'll sell on Amazon as I have a better chance of being seen. Good luck to all those who continue to try and become "rich" using eBay. Wake up! They designed it so that you simply cannot make money anymore...

I went through all the appropriate steps through eBay but yet I was penalized. When able, I resisted my item, sold it, and shipped the bag to new buyer the same day payment was made. She will receive her new bag within 2 days. I learned that eBay requested a 21 day hold on my funds through PayPal!!! How dare they decided to withhold my money!! The buyer is receiving her item sooner than she expected and I even paid more for postage to expedite delivery for her.

I phoned eBay and got no help whatsoever. This person kept reading from a script about policies. After I hung up, they phoned me back and kept on about the policies. I couldn't believe it. I am done with eBay and refuse to sell or buy on this website ever again. I have shared my experience with friends and coworkers and they all feel the same way. So thanks to eBay, I spent lots of time at the post office trying to find out where the item was delivered and got no answer. I used to be a loyal eBay seller. Sold many things in the past, and I'd get "reduced fees" offers. Sadly eBay has seriously gone downhill since 2016. First: One person did not understood the "as is" aspect of an item so they asked for a refund. Eventually eBay stepped in and did NOTHING to protect me so the refund was given and the item returned. Second: eBay has this Global Shipping Program so whoever wants to buy/bid your item can get it outside of the US, with them paying for additional shipping. The seller just does the domestic handling. NEAT. WRONG! A collector's item I was selling sold to a user from Canada. Weeks later that same user sends me a dispute with pictures that shows the collector's item DESTROYED! Yes, OPENED AND DAMAGED!

Opening an item, I understand, BUT DAMAGING IN THE LONG RUN?? IS EBAY EVEN A CORPORATION?!?! NEVER AGAIN. I still have NO IDEA how it's gonna play out, especially since I would need to pay for return shipping. GREAT now I'll end up paying more for a damaged product worth cents. Thanks, eBay! Having my return policy as "no refunds" never helps, btw. It never does. Buyers always wins, even the sketchy ones. Moral of the story: NEVER USE THE EBAY GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM!! They will break your item. Just ship it yourself straight to Canada or the UK, with insurance just in case. What a joke.

If you're looking to sell rather than buy on eBay, expect to be treated unfairly. eBay is clearly more concerned about courting buyers than sellers and their policies reflect that preference. I've sold on eBay here and there for 20 years now, and I have been alarmed at how their bias against sellers appears to be getting worse. When I first started, eBay would do things like not actually post your 5-day auction item live until 2-3 days after the start time that you paid for. They appear to have cleaned up issues like that. Now, however, they are denying fairness between sellers and buyers, which can costs sellers a lot of time and money. Here are a just a few glaring examples among many of eBay's current hostility toward sellers.

Buyers can leave negative feedback about sellers, but sellers cannot leave negative feedback about buyers. This is absolutely ridiculous and unfair. Sellers are literally forced to pay for return shipping as long as the buyer tells eBay that the item did not match the description. eBay does not even consider the validity of the buyer's reason -- the buyer can outright lie and eBay will automatically force the seller to pay for the return shipping (and then refund the item's sold amount). This policy invites abuse, and abuse happens frequently. eBay advertises that sellers can in fact dispute the buyer's reason, but that can only be done after the seller pays for the shipping and initiates an onerous dispute process and eBay absolutely will remain biased toward the buyer in such disputes, denying the dispute for even the smallest, most inconsequential -- or unprovable -- reason from a buyer.

For example, a seller grades a book VERY GOOD (two grade less than NEW/VERY FINE) but must pay for return shipping and a full refund because the buyer isn't happy about a tiny ink dot just below the text on page 223 that the seller didn't mention. The buyer can also use whatever shipping service they'd like to return it, regardless of the service the seller used to send it. So if the seller sent a paperback back that cost $2.75 to ship to the buyer using USPS Media Mail, then the buyer could very well use USPS Priority at $7 to return it. And the seller must pay for that.

Another stunning eBay bias against sellers also relates to returns. If an international buyer requests an item-does-not-match-description return on an item purchased using eBay's Global Shipping Program, then the seller must not only pay for the domestic shipping on the return but also for the international leg of the shipping on the return. Why is that remarkable? Because buyers originally pay sellers only for the domestic leg. Their purchase of the international portion of shipping is a completely different transaction paid directly to eBay.

In other words, sellers never receive any of the original funding for the international shipping. Yet sellers will have to pay that cost on a return and eBay gets to keep what the buyer paid eBay directly. Here's a concrete look at how badly that can play out for a seller. I once had to process an international return on a large box of dozens of books. The buyer claimed that the interiors of some of the books had some minor condition issues that I did not mention or show in the listing -- even though those minor condition issues still left the books entirely within the lower-grade I had given the collection.

The buyer paid me a total of $80 and paid eBay an undisclosed amount for the international leg of the shipping. For the return I was on the hook for $150: a refund of the original $80 plus another $70 for the complete international shipping service on the return. And here's insult to injury: eBay denies sellers the eBay Global Shipping Program discount on international returns! If the buyer could have used the eBay GSP on the return, I would have saved $10-$25 dollars.

Lastly, eBay forces sellers to be responsible for the shipping services provided by carriers like USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. If the carrier you select takes two months to deliver the package or if the carrier damages the item during delivery, the seller is responsible and will have to pay return shipping and/or provide full refunds. I once asked an eBay supervisor about this policy and he said, "Well, you chose that carrier." As if a seller's choice in major U.S. shipping carriers makes any discernible difference! As if one or two of them are perfect, yet the seller "chose" a worse competitor who sometimes makes mistakes. They all mistakes sometimes, yet eBay will hold sellers responsible for those mistakes and force sellers to endure the inconvenience of filing claims with mail carries (a totally separate nightmare). But this all makes sense, right? After all, eBay wouldn't want to inconvenience the buyer.

Placed an order of a phone from a seller in China on Sept 28th, then for personal issue, I had to cancel the order so I immediately do that 3 hours later after the order has been placed on the same day. It was actually sending the seller a request to cancel the order, not that actually you get to cancel the order by yourself. So I received no respond from the seller for 2 days, it was weekends so it made sense. Then the next thing I know, they sent me an email saying the order has been shipped (Sept 30th) and my request for cancelling the order still stayed un-replied.

I immediately contact eBay staff and ask them for intervention, the first customer support staff seems really helpful and told me that he would contact the seller on my behalf and have him contacting me about my request and hope that he can still put a stop on the delivery and issue me a refund immediately. I was told to wait for 2 business days because that is the time frame that eBay allows a seller to reply to the customers. 3 days had passed and I still see no sign of communication. I sent another email to them and they said that I would have to wait for the order to arrive and then file a refund and then wait until the order got back to the seller and then wait until the seller determine that there is nothing wrong with the parcel then I can get my refund back.

I told them that I feel disrespected when the seller did not answer me at all and now I have to settle this in a way that I did not want. As a frequent online shopper, I understand that once the order is shipped, it would not be possible to cancel the order. That's why I immediately asked for a cancellation 3 hours after I placed that order and now eBay staff is not helping at all. I complained to them that they should have strict rules for the sellers since this kind of customer service is intolerable and all they did and ever did was reciting their "Refund Policy" and "Money Back Guarantee" and "Returning Policy" to me in every of their email.

Meanwhile, they took no action against the seller's bad attitude and it somehow seems like they are standing on the seller's side, rather than my side. To make the matter worse, they started to "blame the victim" informally, saying that "next time if you are not sure you're going to buy an item, please don't pay for it." LOL. So the seller updated that the item has been shipped on September 30th, it WAS NOT actually shipped until Oct 4th when I actually received a tracking number but the package information was still "shipment information received" and it is actually in transit on Oct 6th. So yeah, they got one hell of a week to put a stop on the delivery and they decided to do nothing, not even the seller or the eBay staff. I guess the only one suffering is me.

Consequently, I gradually accepted their terrible customer service and the fact that I would have to wait for the parcel to arrive and then start the whole return process and maybe wait for like 3 months later to get my money back. I wrote them another email, asking if I can just refuse to take the package when it arrives and told the carrier to just return it to its home address since I would be returning it anyway, they told me that I should not do this because when I do this, they would not be able to force the seller to issue me a refund. Okay, cool. So I asked them if I would have to pay for the returning delivery fee, guess what their answer is? YES! I would have to pay for the returning delivery fee for an item that I did not even want it to be shipped to me in the beginning. Well played eBay. Well played.

So yeah, they told me that I either do that, or wait until Dec 11th to open a dispute about the item. Which is like more than 2 months later and even by then, they would not even promise me a refund. This is my first time and definitely my last time shopping on eBay. Even AliExpress is doing a better job than them at taking care of their customers.

Selling on eBay is a nightmare. I did it a dozen times or so, and will never do it again. Not the way to make money, never worth the time and headaches, and very difficult website to navigate. Bad links take you to the wrong place, for starters. I clicked on "learn more about the buyer" and it took me to something about the product I sold and others like it. The app is way worse. When a buyer wasted my time and canceled on me after a whole string of messages back and forth, I tried to leave negative feedback, but the eBay app took me straight to the positive feedback option without giving me any choice or telling me where I was as I typed my comment. So now negative comments count as positive reviews and artificially inflate a bad buyer's feedback percentages.

The app is by far more cumbersome than the regular website. Many important features can't be reached, and I had to abandon the idea of handling business from my phone while out of the house. But even from the website, it won't let you fix the shipping and handling costs as needed to avoid losing money. All I can do is select a shipping type. I have to send a separate invoice after the fact to cover the cost of boxing it up, and God forbid a buyer should ask for a different shipping method... no adjusting the numbers for that until it's all over, and by then buyers change their mind when they find out what things cost. I wind up making multiple trips to the post office to get answers for prospective buyers. And to make things worse, when you do sell something, eBay won't reveal the buyer's address until after he pays. So I can't even save time by creating my own shipping label to be ready to ship for when he does pay.

eBay has decided it will tell me exactly what I can do and when. And during a recent period they put holds on the money I actually did make, after all the headaches and fees, but didn't warn me they would do that. All their website said was "Start making money today," but "today" turned out to be weeks after something sold. They stopped putting holds on my sales now, and the customer service rep I spoke to about that was very nice and very helpful (actually, I think her voice was quivering. She sounded like she had had people yelling at her all day long and was expecting me to blow up at her at any moment), but with Amazon and all the other places out there, I can't think of any reason why I'd want to continue to put myself through this.

Deal was good but not too good to be true. This has happened to me twice. Item was selling for $40,000.00 + and I have to agree to a binding contract to purchase if I win. The item time ends and poof, gone. I called and they told me it was a hacker. For what purpose? And why didn't eBay follow up and let me know exactly what happened. It took 20 minutes for them to determine this. No concessions, no attempt to preserve their integrity. My contention, ok I wasted a lot of time researching, put my tail on the line to legally bind to agree to purchase. As an reputable auctioneer eBay has a responsibility to present its auctions honestly. But they are not reputable and are in fact illegitimate. Untrustworthy!

I paid immediately the cost of the bowl plus shipping, $50.15. I never received the bowl. After lengthy communication w/ the seller, who provided an inaccurate USPS tracking number, a complaint was filed w/ EBAY. The seller provided EBAY w/ a different tracking number via a different carrier, UPS. That tracking number showed that the package was delivered to someone, but not me. Because the package was delivered to someone -- even though not to me -- EBAY closed the case. I'm out $50.15 and no bowl. I filed a complaint with eBay and provided them with details that the tracking info was for a package that was not addressed to me, a flat envelope package not capable of holding my purchase and that I have not received anything even though the tracking info has indicated that it was delivered. Seller responded that package has delivered. Instead of eBay doing any research which would take a 5 minute inquiry to the postal service on the details for the tracking number, eBay closed the issue. I had provided eBay with all the information regarding the fraudulent tracking but eBay did nothing to follow-up on the inquiry. Be weary of eBay as they make no effort in protecting anyone but themselves.

Hi, Ebay has set up its policies to defraud its sellers. I live in arkansas and had several buyers lie about the item after they get it and open a return and ebay issue a refund. Not only that but ebay steals your money out of your paypal account. I have just currently filed a complaint against ebay return policies with our state attorny general. This had had to be done twice now. You would think ebay would learn not to to this. In our listing it was an item sold as parts not working with no refunds in the description but ebay is to stupid to read that they just do what they want.

As a seller I will also be filing a law suit with ebay for time lost on this. Just because they're a big company don't mean they can break the law with their policies. They don't care about the sellers at all, just about stealing and keeping money any way they can. Not only that but they divert all their calls the the Philippines now. You can't even talk to someone in the united states. Oh and they don't care if you have 100 % feedback or not just their policies that defraud you as a seller from your money. I will not sell on ebay anymore because of their polices and lack of caring for what their sellers put in their descriptions and just their good sellers that are making them money. Ebay is not a good place to buy or sell.

I've just had (yet another) terrible experience as a seller on eBay. Buyer buys a $200 item, doesn't like it and knowing that I do not accept returns for this reason (I do for damaged items or ones incorrectly described etc.), sets up a spurious "not as described" claim. They take a photo showing how the item is not as described. I don't want to be too specific but let's say it's as though I sold a White item, the buyer takes a photo, adds a Red filter and then claims the item was Red.

I then provided a massive amount of photo evidence showing that the item was exactly as described and that the buyer is incorrect. So what do eBay decide? That the buyer gets to keep the item AND gets a full refund. This is not the first time that it has happened and it seems to me that opening a "not as described" claim is pretty much 95% guaranteed to either allow you a (spurious) return or get you a refund. Oh how I long for the day that a decent alternative to this awful company becomes available.

eBay has an option for Sellers to set up their products to not accept Returns. This means you can sell products as is to prevent many scam issues like people returning you damaged items etc. Well this option is completely useless because if buyer ask for a refund eBay forces you to accept the return, even if there is no real reason for it. Therefore this option is completely useless. If you give a partial refund, losing money on your item already, eBay will still charge you a full fee for the product, making you lose even more. eBay has no respect for its Sellers, better go to Amazon who will always have your back no matter what.

I will never even shop on Ebay again. I've tried being a seller twice, once for the auto parts company I work for, once for my own personal account. They put limits on everything and you cannot exceed the limit. Then, they start charging you for every single ad that you post. That's okay...if they would tell you that when you set up the account which at the time, they didn't.

The experience with my own personal account was even worse. First of all, they kept trying to get me to lower my price. Hey, if I want to sell a like new sweater for $5.00 that anywhere else I could sell for $7.00, then stop trying to get me to lower my price to $3.00. Then one day, I get an email from Ebay out of the blue. "We have been concerned with some activity on your account and have now deactivated it." What?! No other explanation. No warning, no email reaching out and saying, "Hey, you're doing this, please stop," or "hey, we noticed this on your account, was this you?" Just like that. Terminated. That's okay. I don't need them to sell my items anyway. I can also assure them that even if they're the only place that sells my item, I won't be shopping on ebay anymore.

The experience I had with ebay was very controlling...they could not stand the idea that you might want to have a little control over the items you're selling. They want to control, they spam your inbox everyday...this online store is definitely not for me. If you are thinking about selling on Ebay, don't expect them to be as happy, cheerful and amazing as they advertise themselves to be. Expect to have to agree to more rules and regulations just to sell one item.

By far the phoniest pro-capitalism and pro-American selling front. They advertise themselves as a friendly internet company that offers easy opportunities to make easy money selling on the internet, but give you the hardest time selling your items. They don’t let you sell a lot of inventory all at once, and you have to constantly haggle through their feudalism policies and indentured servitude policies. For example, they put selling limits on your accounts, and you have to “earn” more selling rights. For example, they put a selling limit on your account first, usually between $1,000 and $5,000, and you can’t sell more after you reach it. When you call to increase your selling limit, they say they can’t or only increase it by a few thousand dollars.

They also have item limits. For example, you can’t sell more than what they say you can sell. They also charge you item listing fees, and you have to pay them, even if they don’t sell. If you have a few hundred items, you’ll sell 15-20, but still have a sales deficit from all the listing fees, leading to account suspensions and constant selling app searches with hopelessness and despair resulting from successive disappointments. Do not waste your time, unless you’re a lawyer ready to get rich from class action lawsuits, or a prosecutor ready to take in the herds.

I used to LOVE eBay.com. When you could actually SELL SOMETHING for a profit. Now they COMPLETELY cater to power sellers and overseas accounts. They make it EXTREMELY HARD for anyone new to start on eBay. They are always finding ways to bill you, hold your money, block you from leaving an honest review of a power seller, etc. They even have the nerve to talk about you should send item within 30 days. But have NUMEROUS CHINA sellers that sometimes take 2-3 MONTHS to receive item. Then when you leave a review, it says "time limit exceeded" to leave review! Then don't let people sell items that take 2 months to arrive! Speaking of China eBay sellers... because eBay lets China sell on eBay, this means they can COMPLETELY SELL at the lowest price and make it virtually IMPOSSIBLE for a seller in America to compete with prices.

Oh and drop shipping on eBay? They make this extremely hard to start as well! Yay! What no ones wants to tell you about drop shipping on eBay is, THEY HOLD YOUR MONEY FOR 21 DAYS! This means that unless you have money to cover the drop shipped items, you CANNOT DROP SHIP! The whole model of drop shipping is, paying money upfront and then using PAID funds from buyer to buy the product and have it sent to the customer's address. Well, because of eBay's 21 days hold on your funds, you will have to cover all costs of any items sold through drop shipping with eBay. Which ruins the whole point of drop shipping. EBAY IS COMPLETELY HORRIBLE NOW! It's good for buying thing for cheap, but if you want to sell mass products to drop ship, start with $5000 or FORGET EBAY!

A seller approached me about purchasing their gold bracelets. He asked for a deal, which is a bad sign and I should have said no. I agreed to the $300 discount and sent the order. The seller contacted me to tell me that the package was 'smelly and dirty' and that I misrepresented the weights of the bracelets. I did not add weights to my listings, I don't since when jewelry is weighed on a post office scale it is not the same weight as on a jewelry scale. I let the buyer know this and he agreed. The items were obviously not affected by a 'dirty, smelly' package, if that was even true. Even if it was, how would that be my fault? I am in Canada. The package was sent to the US and out of my hands. It left here in perfect condition. The buyer asked me for another $300 dollars off or he would return the items. He insulted me in several emails when I said no, just return the items.

I contacted eBay about 14 times about this, first because I state NO RETURNS in my listings which doesn't seem to matter. Then I was to buy a return label which doesn't work internationally. Ebay then told me they sent the buyer an email telling him to let me know the cost of the return shipping which I was to send to him. He had five days to this, if he didn't then I would be refunded. He got back to me only to tell me he wanted to send the items to our head office in California instead of Canada and I said no. I called this morning, was on hold for a long time, explained this entire situation once again and was told to expect a refund in a few minutes. I waited, and waited, and waited - no refund.

I called again and was told that I wasn't getting a refund because I had not sent the buyer a return shipping label (which I can't do because I'm in Canada) and that the buyer had five days to return the item. Totally different from what other reps have told me over this entire miserable week. Ebay reps don't have a clue. You are lucky to get a correct answer from any of them and should always check with another rep. In this case I had five of them tell me the same incorrect info. The buyer has now initiated a return without asking me for shipping funds. No idea how that is going to affect me, I'm sure this will be my fault and will cost me. I ordered in 2018. Did get a refund after returning but don't want to have to go through the hassle of endless communications with sellers and having to go to the post office. Prior to that I ordered candy from a seller who shipped me the wrong item and demanded I return the item before she shipped the right item. In 2014 I purchased a brand new item for $500. When it arrived it had a melted knee and so many other things. I immediately contacted the seller and asked for my money back and she felt insulted and I showed her many pictures and explained and she admitted that she sent it this way to me and thought it was normal. So I contacted eBay and showed them all the evidence and eBay said their protection guarantee did not apply to me and that I had to pay $60 in return shipping because the buyer paid fees and taxes.

They did not even care about the pictures or the fact that the seller accepted sending this "brand new" item this way. I almost closed my account but didn't (bad choice). Now in 2018 I sold a used item and showed a picture of a tear on a box and mentioned that there were other boxes that looked used also. So the buyer asked for a refund without an explanation or pictures but I still accepted but I would not pay for return shipping. So the buyer did not send the item back because he didn't want to pay either and eBay took the cost of the return shipping out of my account without letting me know.

I called them and asked why didn't they ask for any evidence to make sure I am not being scammed and that I did show in my posting that there were damage to packages but they say the item also doesn't work and why doesn't the buyer send any pictures of this then. I reminded them that I paid for return shipping in 2014 for a damaged item and now they made me pay again. No protection for me as a buyer and now no protection for me as a seller. Closing my account for good now. I had enough. Do not deal with EBAY. No wonder there isn't as many things for sale like before or as many buyers as before. They do not even try to make you happy in any other way.

eBay is a complete rip off and joke. They charge sellers 12% of all sales (including postage fees, because "we all make profit on the ridiculous high fees to post in this country") and send out fake promotions advertising "list for free this weekend, or list for free until and pay no final value fees or insertion fees", but sure enough at the end of the month you are charged full amount for fees. eBay also brought out Paypal and now charge a 10% fee to use PayPal, which eBay lists as a 'mandatory' payment methods for buyers. So every sale you make you lose up to 20% instantly including postage from your sale.

I am over this site and the service. Every time I contact them they claim they can't find the email EBAY SENT ME, or can't issue a refund on the fees because it's already been withdrawn. I've been promised to be refunded or have added to my account credit for promotions that never worked in the cart or sent to me, and this service is just ridiculous. F this... I am not selling or buying on this joke of a site anymore.

It would have never occured to me that my established account would be deleted this way. Bad practice eBay! eBay should never delete established accounts with reviews. This company is a solitude for dishonest people to take advantage of others. There has been multiple times where money had been charged to me without just cause and when I inquire about them, they just apologize and any record of it disappears. The customer service representatives sound like illiterate people pulled from the street and are completely rude, insulting and dishonest. There is no fair trade market competition for eBay, this is what happens when a company goes without checks and balances.

eBay itself is literally the biggest scammer of its own site and I tell you why, eBay don't scam its buyers, just its sellers. It wouldn't be profitable to scam its buyers but eBay often lets its buyers scam sellers with no repercussion and then turns around and protects them after they scammed you as a seller. eBay fees for sellers are more like a tax than a payment, you have a item worth $1,500 buyers wanna be cheap and your item likely won't sell for what its worth if you sell it on eBay. So after dropping it $500 in 4 months because you really need the money so it can sell, now it's thats your first step in this long line of losing money a $1,000. eBay is taking $100 fee. They allow PayPal to be their uncle sam and steal about $60 and ebay sneakily takes their payment later to make you feel like you weren't just robbed by both eBay and PayPal even though you were.

Also you have to pay for your own shipping of the item and you're probably paying your post office top dollar for priority so you have insurance and tracking if it gets lost. PayPal takes out immediately because they wear the pants in the relationship with eBay, eBay is PayPal's prison ** and takes the fee from you for eBay a month later when you probably need that $100 by then but instead you're having it taking out of your account. Not to mention after paying your fees like a good seller PayPal goes and reports you like a little ** tattle tale to the IRS so they take their cut of that $1000.

So you're looking at under just $500 when all said and done for a item you could of just got $1,500 for if you sold it by word of mouth on FB or ext. instead of eBay, eBay is a easy quick way to sell it but (haste makes waste) yeah it will sell fast but you have drop the price for these little ** buyers to feel like they are at a flea market than to get robbed by eBay and PayPal pay shipping and reported to the IRS for their cut too. Basically is it really worth it in the end???

I have sold almost a million dollars in the past year in my eBay store, I am paying eBay 15% of ALL sold items (instead of 9.4%) because eBay considers me a liability. Why? I asked eBay to step in and help resolve a few cases that I could not resolve with a few buyers that wanted to return items that were not damaged. On our site, we CLEARLY state, that we do not accept returns unless an item is CLEARLY damaged. We are paying eBay an extra 6% to be able to do this. Even paying them 6% more doesn't work. eBay LETS EVERY BUYER RETURN EVERY ITEM FOR ANY REASON! They say it is a Fair and Honest MarketPlace.

It is NOT. THEY want ALL SELLERS OFF EBAY WHO DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. They are putting us through HELL so we will quit off eBay. How do I know this? A Supervisor told me. This ** site sucks. We have been on eBay since the beginning. This is reprehensible. They are comparing themselves to Neiman Marcus, Saks or Nordstrom who accept returns. EBAY is NONE OF THOSE and WILL NEVER BE! Does anyone have problems with the holds placed on funds from the proceeds of sales? I recently sold an item for approximately $300. I don't have a huge number of sales but the ones I do have have all been positive. I've even shipped outside of the US. This most recent sale was shipped with priority mail, a tracking number provided, the package was delivered and the buyer has already left positive feedback; all within 3 days. I'm expected to sit back and be grateful my funds should be available to me within 21 days.

This is the only selling outlet where a seller has to wait this long to get paid! I feel like a big corporation offering credit terms! eBay has been paid out of my funds for shipping, PayPal has taken their 2.9%, eBay will probably get their 10% before my funds are released and eBay has probably earned some interest on the 'float" on my money. I understand high volume sellers don't typically have these holds but should really, should occasional sellers be penalized in this manner? I can see maybe holding until the item is received by the buyer but no longer than that. This to me is just another added cost of doing business on eBay. In addition to 12.9% in fees I theoretically have the lost opportunity cost of 18 days by having my funds tied up. It may be my imagination but it seems there are far fewer occasional sellers like me listing on eBay in recent years; possibly for these reasons. As a seller, Craigslist might just be the more profitable route...

In 08/2016 on par for a $150,000 year going into the selling season eBay throttled my account to just $8,000 per month, down from the $13,000 I was doing! It has stayed at that $8,000 figure for 2 years now! The ONLY way this happens is if eBay is LIMITING exactly how much one can earn. I fought back by increasing my inventory and the types of items I list to 982 items currently. I believe that hits at about a 64% increase in inventory with the only movement in that $8,000 per month as going DOWN! I wish to be part of any class action suit against them. Now I am purging many of my belongings in preparation for a move and the weather is too hot now to sell at the flea market like I would normally do so I thought I would use eBay. I was surprised to see eBay's fee had increased to an advertised 10% (I think it was like 3% when I first sold years ago.) This whole experience has been a disaster and after my first 2 items sold and I started doing the math, I realized I was charged 43% of my selling price in Fees by eBay and PayPal combined. eBay & PayPal both calculate fees based on the selling price PLUS SHIPPING CHARGES!

Shipping charges should not be included in sale price to determine commission fees. Also I encountered many "errors in the system" both on eBay's website and the mobile app. In fact one rep told me to delete the app because it has so many problems. When trying to message the buyer, eBay was inserting my own email address in the "to" line instead of the buyer's. Also another rep explained there were "errors in system" with notifications, auto relist, best offer features. I spent hours on the phone with reps thinking maybe I was doing something wrong but turned out all of my problems were "errors in the system" on eBay's end. Disappointing to lose 43% of my sale price in fees and the eBay platform seems to be full of system errors. Looking for a new online selling platform.

Hello, to start, you should know that I have over 500 eBay transactions, many of them sales, with 100% satisfaction. I sold a helmet, listed as a no-return auction. I provided very detailed images of the scratches on the helmet and urged the purchaser to ask questions before buying. They didn't stop the buyer from involving eBay when I refused to refund. eBay did not even contact me and closed the case, deciding for the buyer. eBay issued a refund to the buyer before verifying with me that I received the item back, which never came. I don't know where the buyer shipped the item because he won't respond to me. I have no recourse and now eBay wants the money for the refund and return shipping.

I like using eBay, but their policies are heavily buyer biased and unfair to the seller. I'm contemplating refusing to pay, but I like buying things on eBay. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well and they made all transactions public. Takeaways: - the click box "no refunds" means nothing. - If I buyer doesn't like the item they received, for whatever reason and tells eBay it's "not as described," you will be required to issue a refund, period. - eBay will not ask for your side of the story and you will get many well constructed bot emails saying how they've taken everything into account. Conclusion: eBay sucks.

Do not use eBay to sell anything because there are no protections for the seller--only the buyer. I sold a pair of retro Air Jordans to a buyer who complained that he hadn't received them. eBay sent me a note asking me to "make it right with the buyer." In so many words, the note said that if I didn't issue a refund and they found that I should have, they'd issue a refund and stick me with the bill. Since the buyer didn't have the shoes and the tracking number didn't give any indication as to where the package was or when he'd receive it, I issued a refund. And then the buyer reached out to say that he received the shoes -- after I issued the refund.

EBay nor PayPal even tried to help me. eBay told me that after I issued a "voluntary" refund, there was nothing they could do to make me whole. This is after I explained to them that the buyer has both the shoes and my money. PayPal debited my checking account for the amount of the refund, causing a negative PayPal balance that I now have to pay. eBay represents itself as a marketplace but if there aren't protections for both the buyer and the seller, it isn't a marketplace. It's a platform that can be gamed to scam people like me out of goods and money.

At the end of October 2017, I purchased two new metal decorative stars with lights from an eBay store "Lookbacktothepast" with seller named apesd (if I can mention their username) with about 2800 feedback at 100%. These two decorative stars were listed separately so it was two purchases, but the listings said shipping was combined. Things went wrong immediately. First, Lookbacktothepast did not combine shipping but instead charged me two $12.99 shipping charges for a total of $25.98, then claimed (despite 13 years of experience on eBay) to not know how to refund me the mistake. I never received a refund for the extra shipping charge. Next, I received the package only to find the packing peanuts were mixed in with dirt, leaves, twigs, dead bugs, and other detritus from a garage floor or driveway.

Finally, the decorative stars were not new and did not have tags as described, they were used and had just been wrapped in cling wrap, plus of course were coated in literal dirt. I opened a case and asked for a refund, stating I'd be happy to pay ONE of the $12.99 shipping charges for her trouble. The seller agreed. The second she got the return, she asked eBay to step in and help, and reneged on her agreement. Lookbacktothepast claimed I just had buyer's remorse and had admitted to not even opening the package, and that both listings had a restocking fee and non-refundable postage which I had agreed to. None of that was true and a few seconds looking through our messages after I opened a case would have shown eBay that.

However, eBay immediately sided with Lookbacktothepast despite no refund being processed through Paypal, and despite all of the messages between us being right there for eBay to read for themselves. eBay then sent me an email saying I'd already accepted a partial refund so I wasn't going to get any money back. I had NOT actually RECEIVED a refund at all. I'd never been given a chance to respond to the seller's claim, either, as eBay just immediately shut it down and let her keep all my money.

I called eBay immediately and dealt with a very rude customer service person who couldn't speak English very well, who insisted I had received a refund. She implied several times that I was trying to scam. I reiterated that I had not received a refund and asked why they didn't just check Paypal themselves? She said they had. I asked if could they please provide the Paypal transaction number for this refund? She put me on hold a couple minutes, came back and said she would "process the refund" herself through eBay because "apparently there was a glitch."

Almost immediately I showed a $52 refund on Paypal, but the sale had been $90.96 total. She said that was because I'd already gotten a partial refund for postage. I once again said I had NOT, and again asked for a Paypal transaction number for this refund Lookbacktothepast supposedly sent me. Again I was put on hold, she came back and said eBay (but not the seller) would give me a "courtesy refund" of $12.78 for postage.

I asked why eBay kept saying I'd received a partial refund from Lookbacktothepast, and why didn't they just check Paypal and see for themselves that I had not? She indicated the seller had submitted a FedEx invoice showing about $25 in postage costs and that's all they needed to see. But the seller had used USPS Priority, not FedEx, and it didn't cost $25. I had a photo of the label (which I have attached to this complaint, as well as other documentation) and offered to send it to eBay, but the customer service person refused, insisting that Lookbacktothepast had used FedEx. I asked for the tracking number and they said it was on my eBay account, but that tracking number was USPS Priority, not FedEx nor FedEx SmartPost. The eBay rep could not explain this.

I then pointed out the seller only had a restocking fee on one listing, not both, and asked her to explain why I had to pay a restocking fee on a listing that did NOT outline a restocking fee. Again I was on hold, she came back, said eBay would give me another courtesy refund to make up for the restocking fee. I never did receive that refund.

Here's the craziest part: when I left a negative review because the items were not new, were sent dirty and I was overcharged shipping, there was another negative on Lookbacktothepast's account saying almost exactly the same thing. That didn't surprise me. What DID surprise me was when I went back that evening to ask on the eBay Community about this whole incident, only to find that all negatives from Lookbacktothepast's profile had been removed sometime during the day. Even today, you can see in the internet cache that they had a 99.7% score because of several negatives in June of 2018, but they have all been removed as of August 2018 and is back to 100%, no negatives or neutrals. Why do all their negative feedbacks get removed? Why does eBay allow this? Clearly others have had problems with Lookbacktothepast but eBay is covering for them.

Something very odd is going on. I've been on eBay 18 years and have always been in good standing, and was quite honestly shocked to see eBay immediately imply I was a scammer, and not even check their own records but just blindly believe this seller's false claims of refunds and agreements. Only about two minutes of their time would have been needed to verify what had really happened.

I have come to the conclusion eBay ignores its account holders that commit fraud against merchants selling on eBay. We were the victims of fraud with a buyer. An investigation revealed this same eBay buyer had committed fraud against other eBay merchants using the exact same scam, yet eBay allowed the buyer's account to remain open. We received a return back from this buyer who falsely claimed the item was not genuine. This buyer had purchased from us before with no complaints. We have a 100% eBay feedback score. Anyway, the return was opened in front of a U.S. Postmaster. The return package contained two blocks of wood only, and not the 4 products we shipped to this buyer.

The U.S. Postmaster filed a report of "U.S. Mail fraud" to the U.S. Postal Inspectors office which is a felony crime. There is now an arrest warrant out for this buyer. I sent all this information with documentation to eBay, and PayPal on July 13, 2018. PayPal finally refunded our money after legal action was threatened, as PayPal could not dispute the evidence. However, that same buyer is still operating on eBay, as well as PayPal. I have written to eBay about this buyer still operating on eBay. I get nothing but scripted emails back, telling me to rest assured they will take action against the buyer. I don't believe it.

If you have a PayPal account cancel it, and use your merchant account. If you don't have a merchant account, get one. PayPal is a joke, and their "seller protection" is a fraud. There is no "seller protection" with PayPal. PayPal will reverse an eBay claim, and will refund the buyer money from your account before you receive the sold products back. THAT IS ILLEGAL. Neither PayPal, or eBay can take your money for a refund without you receiving back the product the refund was issued for. It is obvious that neither eBay, or PayPal could care less about merchants being cheated on their websites.

If you have a "merchant account" they will honor your return policy, and protect you unlike eBay, or PayPal. That includes "buyer's remorse" returns. Neither eBay, nor PayPal have the legal right to void your return policy using "eBay/ PayPal user agreement". Excuses. That is called interfering with a contractual relationship in law. I am now in the process of reporting this conduct to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, as well as the Florida Secretary of State which regulates eBay, and PayPal doing business in the State of Florida where we are located. Those regulatory agencies will take a very dim view of this type of conduct. Neither eBay, or PayPal have any right to expose their customers to fraud they have been made aware of that has occurred (as in this case) on their websites. There are laws against this type of conduct.

I called eBay on the 24th just before being taken. I called them again on the 1st of July because I got home from the hospital in the evening 31st.

I contacted the seller numerous times as well and mailed out the return necklace that I had not ordered on the 1st and contacted eBay again and several times over next week. NOTHING was said by any eBay rep that I was one day over their "policy". I explained over and over I was in the hospital. Yesterday 8-12-18 eBay refused to assist me, and the seller fuzilli1 2387/Kathy ** never sent the earrings that I paid for in good faith, in mid-July. Even though she sent the wrong item and I returned it. I contacted seller/Kathy ** from New Jersey via Facebook Messenger yesterday and she still did not reply. I would never tell anyone to use this service or eBay or her. No consideration for the buyers or the money paid in good faith. Tomorrow Monday I am contacting the AG of the state. Federal consumer law supersedes any 5 day policy and protects buyers under the "Non-conforming goods."

We've spent over $100,000 on eBay over the years, but recently eBay has been cheating us and falsely advertising to us more and more. For example, a recent purchase of an item needed to be returned, because the seller falsely advertised the item as new, but we received in extremely used condition and non-functioning. After spending many hours emailing the seller with our willingness to repair the item at our expense in time and labor, seller eventually asked us to pay more for an "upgraded" model and the seller unable to help repair the defective used item falsely advertised as new. eBay sent us emails stating we would receive a full refund, but we never did. We called eBay several times about the refund, spoke with several people. Some names we can't remember, but one person was named Jackie and another was named Chrisell. Chrisell promised we would receive the refund, but never did.

After some time, we called back asking for Chrisell, but of course Jackie said we cannot speak with her, but Chrisell would call us back. We never received another call from eBay and now we are writing this review. We wasted a lot of livelihood and our money on eBay, but now we will never buy anything from eBay again. We stated to Jackie and Chrisell we would not buy anything from eBay until we get the full refund we were told we would after getting duped by a fraud seller.

eBay seems to now be run and operated by a real crook, because we don't blame the Filipino employees fielding our calls. We blame management and the president of eBay, John Joseph Donahoe II, who is by his public record a financial crook, part of the Mitt Romney too big to fail financial bankster industry. Well you can get your handouts and bailouts from someone else, because you're not getting any more of our business John and we will remember how you cheated us and forever Ebay, Mitt Romney and Bain and Capital will be synonymous with low life, dirtbag, cheating, thieving, lying filth.

I had only been selling on eBay for approximately one month. I put a plasma cutter up for sale. The guy paid for it and then when he received it claimed that the plug was bad so instead of getting in touch with me which I had informed him that I placed insurance on the box for shipping. He decided on his own that he would replaced the plug. When he did this he voided my warranty on the plasma cutter. eBay got involved many messages later. eBAy is forcing me to take back the machine even though the buyer had altered the machine (which voided my warranty) and to take and refund his money which by the way a hold was placed on it on PayPal.

I talked to several agents at ebay. All insist that it should of been ruled in my favor but because I accepted the return (which I didn't ) I must now suffer with this and there is nothing they can do. eBay is a joke. They don't stand behind their own policy. IF a buyer alters the machine the money back guarantee is voided. Not in this case. eBay knows he alter the machine. The buyer stated it many times in the messages. Do yourself a favor. Don't sell on eBay. They are the worse.

I have been an eBay seller for just two months, but became a "Power Seller" within the first 5 weeks of selling on eBay. I have been extremely diligent and conscientious with my listings, and processing of orders. Two weeks ago, I began receiving threatening messages from a 2000 sale+ seller who sells items similar to my own. This seller threatened me, demanding I delist numerous items (which happen to be same brand and category as their own) or I would be reported to eBay for "seller violations". After I received a third message from this seller, I responded by saying I wasn't violating any eBay policy and to please stop messaging me. They sent me another message saying, "That's okay, I've already reported you. First your selling privileges will be suspended for 7 days..." I then blocked their ability to message me.

That same evening, I receive a message from eBay that two of my items have been delisted for TM infringement. I leave a message for eBay to call me about this. The next day I receive another message from eBay saying they had delisted an item for same reason. I called again. I spoke with an eBay agent who listened patiently but essentially seemed powerless to act upon my call. The next day I receive a message from eBay saying my selling privileges had been suspended for 7 days for the same violation. That was 5 days ago. I have no doubt that in two days, when my account privileges have been restored, the competitive seller will proceed to get my account suspended for 30 days.

I believe this seller acts as a Vero (verified owner's rights) agent as a means to eliminate their competition. Based on what I've been reading, eBay is fully aware of this conflict and does nothing to support or protect their sellers. There is no genuine appeal process nor is there an actual need by the reporting Vero agent to prove their claim. I believe that this arbitrary and haphazard process by eBay violates my First Sale Doctrine Resale rights, and unjustly damages my reputation as a seller.

I checked back to my PayPal account on 8/10 and the funds were still on hold per eBay. I had another item on sale and pulled it. I'm about done with this type of rip off. Ebay - doesn't their "no responsibility" clause have limits? eBay has single handedlly destroyed my business. I decided to start an ecommerce business in May of this year. I paid to have a personal website which I eventually wanted to sell from, but obviously the well known sites get way more traffic than my little unknown site. I decided to try selling on eBay. I have had an account with them since 2003 and never had a problem and anyone can sell. In June, I changed my account from a personal to a business account (received an congrats email from EB). Within a couple hours I had 2 offers for one of my units, and decided to buy a store ($5/month) and they sent me a congratulations email for opening the store.

A few hours later, I tried to log in to submit a counter offer for an offer I already would have been willing to accept. For some reason I can't log in. I kept trying and eventually called to find out why? I was told that because of the change of activity, a hacking alert was triggered. So eBay reset my password and removed all my listings as well as my store. I was assured that my account and listings would be restored. *Long story short, my account has been suspended 3x in 6 weeks, I've done nothing wrong (each time, I've called and they've admitted I haven't broken any rules)... Every time there's been an issue, I've called them. I've been on the phone with them so many times, my phone their number as my favorite contact. Each time, I was assured that my store, account, and items disappearing would have no effect on my account. And I responded by letting them know that it absolutely DOES have an effect.

All these unfounded issues cause doubt in the eyes of the people who witness this. These issues make me look shady and unreliable. I have A LOT more, but limited space, so basically, my account has been restricted or suspended 3 times in the 6 weeks I've been selling there, the most recent time being Saturday July 30 of this year (and I was told these cases are reviewed Mon-Fri). I sent a counteroffer to a person who had made an offer, in the middle of that, account restricted. Item unlisted, selling privileges revoked. I have 100% feedback score. The offer I sent was accepted (I got 4 emails asking how they could pay) Mon request more info, yesterday all my emails prior to July 1st disappeared (Sat I had mail through April), then my store disappeared, today I have no account & zero response. I do have screenshots though & I feel harassed & sabotaged. They are very shady, and I am looking to join or initiate a lawsuit.

I have gone back and forth with the seller several times with excuses to include the opening of a claim by the seller with USPS. The seller's last communication with me said the claim would not be processed until September.

I opened a claim with eBay when I lost communication with the seller on 7/30/18. eBay politely responded "After reviewing your transaction the latest time for you to have filed a case was last July 15, 2018." which may be why the seller was dragging out their part of the deal. I am not happy with eBay. I notified the seller THROUGH eBay of my request for a refund in a fair, yet timely manner.

Today I called PayPal and my payment was refunded by them within 5 minutes of me hanging up the call. PayPal gets 5 stars for their customer support/consumer complaints department and eBay I don't even want to give you one star. As long as you are making money, it seems you don't give a spit. A terrible way to conduct business and I am left feeling that your company is simply about greed. Poorly handled by eBay. And the seller is probably still allowed to conduct business on their site.

Ok, no problem, did that. Once shipped I call back and give the tracking info, she looked it up on FedEx and confirmed the items was in moving and transit. She transferred me to someone the eBay finance dept to release funds. Spoke with Ryan **. he also confirmed item moving and said I would have the funds in my Paypal acct within 24 hrs. Spoke with a supervisor and he told me it was now Paypal that was holding my funds and had to speak with them. So again jumped through yet another hoop. Called PayPal and they told me I had to wait 3-4 day AFTER it delivered before I can REQUEST, NOT RECEIVE, REQUEST my funds to be released.

They will then REVIEW and SEE IF they will release funds. WTF??? If the buyer got the goods then don't REVIEW. RELEASE my money!!! I explained what eBay had said and told him I had an email from eBay stating they said 24 hrs. He told me they are wrong and if I'd like he can explain it to them. If I 3-way called them. I told him I didn't know how to that on my phone and would he do it on his end and he said he didn't know how to do that either. WTF??? In my dispute, I did all eBay required, including obtaining a police report and copies of seller emails admitting he did not send one of 2 item while still making me pay for both. Seller then changed his story for eBay and said he shipped both. Although it takes days to complete this process, I did so and carefully submitted all my evidence to a link eBay gave. But eBay claims to have never received it, then said that I did not do it in the given time. I next sent it in an attachment directly to them -- I was just ignored.

In checking into this seller "ourproductsarethebest" I was astonished to find he was very highly rated on eBay -- A+++! But, digging into past reviews shows he had done this same scam over 700+ times before with NO consequences from eBay! For example, he sent some buyers empty boxes and partial shipments to many more. I have reported him to USPS for mail fraud so at least he is now being watched! But, eBay's decision to ignore/drop my dispute only encourages more of this kind of on-line criminal activity and makes disreputable sellers bolder. All sellers and buyers who trust this company and currently use eBay will suffer in the long run. Therefore, I want nothing further to do with such a shameful company that chooses to turn a blind eye to scams. I won't be buying anything else on eBay, have blocked emails and have unsubscribed. The buyer got a great price but upon her receipt of the bag, she is adamantly claiming that the is a fake even tho the photos in the initial listing clearly showed the authenticity of the bag and the serial number. She took blurry and barely legible photos, but refused to take a photo of the area where the Authenticity Leather Tag was contained, claiming that it is not even there in the bag at all. I contacted eBay and they stated that I have to accept the return even tho this woman has not proven that the bag is real or not. What are my rights as a seller??? I am obligated to accept the bag even tho she can send me any bag back to me claiming that that is the bag that I sent her.

I have sold at least 4 Chanel bags and a few other authentic designer items over the years and have never had this problem. How are my rights protected as a buyer? This woman is claiming my bag is a fake but is providing no proof that it is fake. She could send me back any back whatsoever and she is protected as a buyer. Be aware of ** on eBay. Clearly she is a fraudulent buyer.

She either decided she didn’t want the bag when we she received it or she wanted to use my bag and send it back after she has used it. I can file a claim against this fraudulent buyer if I get the bag back and it is not in the original condition as I sent it. I will never ever ever use eBay ever again. I am traumatized by this experience and will be seeking legal counsel to figure out my rights in addition to having my bag Authenticated by eBay to provided proof of the authenticity of this designer bag. But last week, when placing a order that contained multiple items, in different quantities, eBay have locked my account on account that the computer I was using was not recognized by them. I've called Customer Support, unlocked it, placed the order. A few days after I've found my order to be doubled (every item, in the same quantities, from the same vendors; just as if you would hit the pay button, but instead of your items be taken from your shopping basket and the transaction to be confirmed, nothing happens, so you hit the Buy button again, but now the system registers both Buy button actions so it doubles you order).

Anyway, after talking to a poor English Rep I get a Manager (wow, this is good, surely they should understand my problem); NOPE... The Manager gave me 2 options: Try to get in touch with the seller and ask them to cancel your order, arrange for returns and wait for refund, or sell the extra items yourself. (We will get the sell fees double, not too bad for us!!) They simply refused to accept any responsibility. (A double order has never happened on eBay, so it is not possible, she said!) My advice: Stay away from eBay, plenty of other options out there with less fees for seller anyway. Wish, Facebook market, OLX.

I have been an eBay user for about 16 years and an eBay private seller for the last 4 years. I am not running a business on there, I sell DVDs which I buy to watch and then re-sell them back on eBay just to re-coup some cash as do a great many private sellers. During this time I have had no real complaint about them and have always used them, and Amazon, because I know that if I have a genuine complaint I will get my money back if I buy anything which is faulty.

But what I am extremely furious about is their latest policy change which has left me with a massively increased bill. It started when they suddenly decided to insert a "Make an Offer" button on all my listings (and hundreds of other sellers too).

Usually we were getting special offers of 100 insertions a day free of charge but they then altered this so that it no longer applied unless we accepted this and also accepted auto-relisting of unsold items and "Good till Cancelled" (which meant they stayed on the site until sold). So suddenly items are being auto-relisted at a charge of 35p (about 0.40cents) per time - running up huge bills for people who had no idea this had been applied.

They hid all this behind even more "special offers" claiming "Don't Pay a Penny 'Til You Sell" ! I have now de-coupled my bank accounts and debit cards from PayPal since I no longer trust the integrity and honesty of eBay. I can also see that many sellers who have thousands of items listed on eBay could now be hit with horrendous bills which could cause great financial hardship to them, especially, if like me, their bank accounts are tied to their PayPal account because eBay uses that account to settle their monthly accounts!

They still will not give me my money back so this is extremely wrong and to beware of using eBay the gift cards to make up a purchase. They might as well be up for PayPal gift card because it’s up to PayPal if you get your money back or not. That whole thing with eBay money back guarantee is hey. Of course I shipped it immediately. Another item was bid up to $203.50 and eBay shut down my account. I called to ask why and have it reinstated. They said it was "a normal procedure" and that they reinstated my account. I went online and none of my items had been reactivated, I have an $11.90 balance due, the money for the shipped item is gone and the bidding on the item which was at $203.50 has to be restarted. I called again (the wait time is substantial) and the customer service rep said my account is still restricted.

As far as I am concerned, eBay has potentially damaged my reputation as a "seller", cost me $119.50 for the shipped item and is trying to steal $11.90 from me. Customer service just said that the $11.90 was for listing items. Those items were unlisted when they restricted two days after I listed them. With a reinstated account, I have to relist each item and pay the listing fee again. Ironically eBay says this procedure is to prevent dishonest transactions. After seeing all the negative reviews, I have a feeling eBay is on the brink of a class-action event. We will see.

I sold a 1st Edition book with no returns policy because of how easy it would be for a buyer to say, "Not authentic." I offered to have it verified before the buyer purchased, of which he turned down. Stated clearly, "No returns." Once he received the book the Buyer starts a return stating not authentic (of course) and I get a different book back and the buyer keeps my books and his money. FRAUD.

After messaging them on Facebook about the situation, they were able to work with me and provide another $15 coupon. Finally they heard their customers.

    Original Review: July 14, 2018

I got an Ebay coupon that offers $15 off that expires on 12/31/2018. The next day when I checked back now they say that same coupon expires on 7/13/2018. Confused by the difference, I called customer service on July 12th and was assured that I can get it extended by calling back within 3 days from the expiration date (July 14th-July 16th). However, on July 14th, when I called back, they said there's nothing they can do since the coupon expired. They blamed system glitch (for the difference in coupon expiry date) and corporate policy (expired coupons cannot be used). So apparently they lied to customers from a system perspective and a human being one! They offered no apology nor any other compensation for the incident.

I sold 3 vintage mesh belts to a buyer in New York and when she got them she filed a complaint with eBay stating that the belts were not a described. Of course eBay sided with her (I've been selling on eBay for over 11 years) and stated that I had to pay return shipping because this buyer said the belts were not vintage. After 25 years in the business eBay believed her and not me. If I do not purchase a return shipping on eBay the buyer will be refunded and keep the items. When clearly in my sales it is marked BUYER PAYS RETURN POSTAGE. I truly think eBay has no right to decide that the buyer has the right to keep my merchandise because the merchandise does not belong to eBay as it belongs to me. I would like to connect with other eBayers who would consider filing a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against eBay and all the BUYERS who have been screwed by eBay and these dishonest BUYERS? Thanks.

Consistent account restrictions and joke policies that only favor buyers, rude customer services, very expensive to now sell items, biased feedback that also only credits buyers... I could go on and on. I genuinely feel eBay will only last another two years maximum before the company goes under. I am at a point where I cannot deal with the pathetic rules, after trying to resolve problems I felt as if I was at school again - it's not for businesses. I've been using eBay for 20 years (WOW), and as for the company itself, I've had reasonably satisfactory experiences. I have had some issues with a few of the items I've purchased and with a few sellers, but through eBay I've always been able to resolve them with returns and refunds. There is a loss of time and energy, and occasionally missing out on a better deal while having to resolve an issue, but I do not hold the company responsible for those mishaps. I do want to quantify that I personally allow for more leeway when dealing with sellers who are just listing the odd item, rather than someone who is selling multiples of new items, or professional collectibles dealers, who are obviously performing in a retail business capacity.

One serious issue I have with the company is based on times when more interaction and intervention is required, than their automated system is designed to handle. I'm currently dealing with having received items that either do not match the photos or the wording in the product listing, and with sellers who do not provide adequate communication in what I expect to be a timely fashion, either before or after purchasing the item. I'm resolving the issue through returns and refunds, but I'm still out the time and energy, and my funds are tied up in these transaction until the seller receives the return and gets around to crediting me, which can take a long time before eBay will actually intervene, and I can't purchase the items I wanted from a different seller until I receive the refund.

I checked filing a complaint about the listings, but all that is available through the system is a list with a limited selection of complaints, none of which directly applies to the issues I'm having. So it's all just a bit too vague for my sense of proper business practice. I realize that the sellers do not have a perfect situation either, but I think that an individual placing an advertisement has a responsibility, and should be required to properly represent their listing, be prepared to deal with issues in the transaction quickly, respond properly to messages concerning issues within a 24 hour period, be penalized for failing in any of these respects, and be forced to remove the advertisement if the description is erroneous. Even though sellers are already required to do most of these to some degree, I haven't found the eBay system to be efficient enough, or its staff diligent enough in enforcing and dealing with a seller who is non-conforming.

There is of course a strong resistance from sellers toward anything that might influence potential customers to not purchase from them, and there is of course the potential for unnecessarily vindictive or fraudulent reviews, but Amazon seems capable of managing a more open public review system. Even though eBay's net revenue in 2017 of nine-billion-seven-hundred-million-dollars (which is an increase of seven-billion-one-hundred-million-dollars from 2016), is not as large as Amazon's thirty-five-billion-seven-hundred-million-dollars, it would seem that since 99.9% of their revenue is based on transaction fees, rather than direct sales and brokering of goods, that they could afford to staff and present a more efficient and accountable system.

It would seem they prefer to maximize their profits by maintaining as much distance, non-intervention, and non-direct support as possible. If they are increasing revenue by over seven billion dollars a year, it seams to be working for them. So... not perfect, but generally satisfactory. I will continue to use eBay, unless either their performance slips even more or something better comes along.

Yet clear as day, eBay charged for it! These two items were sold out of two totally different accounts and processed on two totally separate computers. I am no legal eagle, but I’m pretty sure this meets the classic definition of FRAUD! If I knew that this could happened I would have never ordered anything from the site. I have seen lots of sellers are complaining about eBay but here is one buyer that is extremely unhappy. I will never buy anything from that website. I can't believe that this could happened. Some will say it's my fault because I didn't contact them in time, but if the site was better organized and was safer for the buyers, this would have never happened. The seller should be liable for the items they are trying to sell and they should be charged if they don't send their product. It seems so easy to cheat customer out of their product. Then the first person I talked to couldn't answer my question; she transferred me to another employee. That was another 5 minute wait. She couldn't answer my question either. All either employee did was recite "policy," which I already knew. I asked for an email address and was put on hold.

After 10 minutes the employee came back and tried to give me a physical address. I explained again that I wanted an email address. The employee insisted that I had to write a physical letter. I flat out asked "Is there no way to contact anyone by email?" She said "no." Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but if there is an email address it's sure hard to find. I have been an eBay seller and buyer for many years. I have my downs as a buyer with eBay seller, where eBay has not protected my purchase. I have cases where eBay stated they could not do a thing. (After I canceled the order with the seller, and from messaging back and forth with the seller, the seller has not shipped at the time of the cancellation. The seller forced the shipping anyway. I initiated a return immediately, and the seller declined the return. Since the return was closed and eBay customer service claimed they could not do anything about it and passed the bug to PayPal. Luckily I refused the shipment and was able to get the PayPal refund for this scenario.)

As a seller, luckily I did encountered a few problems where the buyer claimed the package was empty, I replaced the item without questions asked. So to protect ourselves as a seller, it is wise to take the picture of the item, and shipping package prior to shipping, but even with documentation, eBay always side with the buyer anyway. And we would have to deal with the USPS for the damage claim. Unfortunately with small purchases, we only had tracking but not insurance to cover the package. Either way, the seller loses.

I do have a lot of problems with eBay billings: eBay has overcharged me on the Selling Manager Pro for months, and insertion fees. Calls were made 6/8/18, 6/11/18, 6/18/18 and 6/30/18. Each time the hold time to get to a live person has been over 45 min. 6/8/18, finally on the phone for almost 2 hours, the representative Shatina requested $143.91 credit with a confirmation number **. 6/11/18 phone call, I had to start over the whole scenario with Monica, requested additional credits for overbilling on insertion fees, $52.75 and $33 and additional months of overcharge $127.92. 6/18/18 called; again I had to start over with another rep Tara, and finally confirmed there are requests for credits of 143.91, 79.95, 52.77, 33.01 and 47.85… Each call had been at least 2 hours.

The last rep Tara promised to put me on the call back list, so I do not have to start over the whole thing with someone case. You would have thought they should have a case # assigned, so any rep should be able to follow up. None of this case is recorded. 12 days later on June 30, none of these requested credits are back to the account. Today this call, it took 43 min on hold to talk to a live person, and now this guy just put me on hold for over an hour and disappears, and has not even come back on the line to tell me what he is doing. Now over 2 hours on the phone and on hold, I still am not getting anywhere to know where my credits are. If I hang up now, I am starting all over with the hold time before I can start again with another person... All other companies have the capability to call you back, not eBay. Their customer service is the worst I have seen.

All eBay cares about is MONEY! They don't care if more than half of their sellers sell fake items or if people misrepresent their products because it will bring money into the Founder's and CEO's pocket. I've been scammed and I've had to pay more out of my pocket to pay for additional postage. I had ordered a 14kt gold Ruby and diamond ring from China. Their description and the actual product did not match. The ruby was poor quality with large scratch marks on it. The ring was supposed to have almost a carat of small diamonds but the total carat weight was less than 1/4 carat TDW. The ring was described as being 14kt but it turned out the ring was 9kt gold. 9kt gold has very little gold. The ring was nothing but garbage.

I attempted to write a review warning people about purchasing jewelry from China but eBay repeatedly refused to post my review. They didn't want consumers to know the truth about these evil Chinese sellers deceiving potential customers. If people knew the real truth then that would mean a loss of revenue. All these policies that eBay has about selling fake or misrepresented products is just for show. They never enforce their policies because they don't give a rat's ** about the consumer. eBay is a ** trash company like Walmart whose only agenda is to lie, deceive, and to steal every hard earned penny from your bank accounts.

I also had to pay shipping costs both ways and eBay gets upset if you are slow to do a refund (even though I just wanted to test my product upon its return). Never sell on eBay as an individual. I just sold some gorgeous new Dooney & Bourke purses for my sister on eBay. She didn't have an eBay account so I listed them under mine. I took several photos of the purses with my cell phone's camera and listed them as "Buy It Now" items. We took some really nice close-ups of the purses at various angles. Almost immediately one potential buyer started asking me about the color of one of the purses. I told her it was CHESTNUT - the color it says on the purse's tag, on our listing and in our photos. Before listing them, my sister and I had compared the photos to the purses to be sure we were accurate with their colors.

This same lady kept asking me if my photos were actually true to the purses color. She even wanted me to watch a D & B video on YouTube because she didn't think it looked the same color as the chestnut one in the video. The color of these purses do look different in different lighting. And the chestnut or any D & B purse color for that matter can vary according to the grain of the leather. Following email after email asking the same questions over and over and becoming a pest to me, I finally told her to PLEASE NOT BUY THE PURSE if she had any doubt about the color because our policy was "NO REFUND."

It was a brand new purse and there was absolutely no reason to return it. She then turned around and bought it, even after I had asked her not to because she had been so wishy washy about the color. The one thing she did agree on was that $230 was a good price for the purse since it was half of its original price. My sister shipped it within two days of the three days we had allowed for handling it, but I already had serious doubts and misgiving about this buyer! Sure enough, the shipping was slow. And she complained about it being too slow. Not our fault, once it's out of our hands. Then several days after it arrived, she started saying she didn't like the color and that we lied to her and it wasn't the same color as in my listing photos at all.

So here we go emailing each other back and forth. I tell her that our policy is no refunds and it says so in our description and I have that option checked off on our listings. I remind her that I asked her not to purchase it if she was unsure about the color because of the no return policy we chose. We go back and forth again and the emails keep getting ruder and ruder and more frequent. I turned her into eBay for the rude emails, misuse of the return option and for leaving me horribly negative feedback. It dropped my 100% feedback for the past 19 years now, down to 99.1% because of her ugly comments. She has shipped the purse back to us but we haven't received it yet.

I had to block her from buying from me again and block her emails so she couldn't contact me anymore. She has tied up my PayPal account funds until this is settled. She has caused me and my sister so much mental anguish that once this is resolved I am closing out my eBay account. I have been a member there since 1999 and in all those years have never come across anyone like her. I called eBay at least 4 or 5 times and they eventually came straight with me and told me I had to honor the refund even if I had stated no refund and selected that option. I can tell you right now, eBay DOES NOT HONOR THE "NO REFUND" POLICY.

In my mind, my sister and I should have never gone through all this! eBay should have stepped in and never let this buyer put us through all this. They should have stopped her and told her no more emails and positively no refund. PLEASE BEWARE that any time you sell on eBay, do not chose the "no refund" option because it's just useless to do so. eBay shouldn't even offer this option. I was finally told by the last eBay rep I talked to that I was liable for the refund no matter what, even if I started a dispute claim. So I'd just as soon refund her her money and get it over with because they would be siding with the buyer. That would be the outcome and basically I had no case against her!

It's a sad day for me after selling and buying on the auction site for so many years. It paid for many doctor bills and it was our yearly Christmas money that otherwise we may not have had. I know the money my sister made from me selling her purses for her was much appreciated and she put it to good use. We always like to help each other out when we can. And I thought that's what I was doing. Now she has to come up with the $230 which she no longer has. Remember we didn't expect any returns as that was the option we had chosen for our listings. If you sell on eBay, I pray this never happens to you. Just please be aware that eBay always sides with the buyer. Even though they don't tell you that, IT IS THEIR POLICY!!!
