Stepping back from your freshly painted walls only to be immediately met by color choice regret can be disappointing. “Peach Everlasting” may have seemed like the clear winner at the store, but it just didn’t look the same when splashed on an area larger than a paint swatch.
If this has ever happened to you, you might now be a bit more cautious during the process of selecting an interior paint color. Paint swatches can only tell you so much about a paint color, of course -- which is why it’s so important to take paint for a test drive first.
Rolling on a few sample strokes of the paint color in question can be helpful, but what if you could see exactly what the entire room would look like covered in the hue? With Prestige ColorPic, you can.
2,400 paint colors
Prestige Paints’ new ColorPic app promises to “forever change the process of choosing a paint color and buying interior and exterior paint.”
By letting you see what your room would look like painted in different colors, the app could make it possible to sidestep any color choice regret. How does it work?
Simply snap a picture of your space, choose from one of 2,400 colors on a color wheel, and put it on your walls. If you decide it’s the right choice, you can order the paint on Amazon directly through the app.
The app even claims to be able to take into account your room’s specific lighting in order to give you the clearest picture of what the shade would look like in your space.
Home decorators can also get a little design inspiration within the app. Choosing a standard room, instead of your own photo, lets you see how paint looks in rooms from ColorPic’s preloaded gallery.
Pick paint from home
Mark Becker, COO of Prestige Paints says the app is a step in the right direction for the home paint industry, which he says has been “behind the wave of technology that has already revolutionized many other industries.”
“We are not tied to the demands of large home improvement stores or brand stores like all other top paint brands,” added Jeff Peterson, CRO of Prestige Paints. “Through our ColorPic app and consumer-centric approach, we are changing the way you buy paint by allowing the user to browse, pick, view, and purchase paint without ever leaving the comforts of home.”
ColorPic is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
