These options are now available for Apple Pay

Apple Pay has expanded its reach with the addition of several new ways to pay: Venmo and PayPal credit cards and debit cards.

Adding any of these payment methods to your Apple Wallet allows you to utilize Apple Pay the same way – in-store, online, or in mobile apps.

As an added bonus, whatever rewards or cash back are linked to the card will also be applicable when using Apple Pay. Some of the bonuses Venmo and PayPal credit card holders get by adding their cards to their Apple Wallets include:

Venmo Credit and Debit Card

  • Cash back at participating retailers with the Venmo debit card

  • Cash back with the Venmo credit card – 3% on your top spend category, 2% on the next highest spend category, and 1% on the third highest spend category

PayPal Credit and Debit Card

  • Each purchase with your PayPal debit card earns rewards that can be transferred to cash back

    • Unlimited 1% cash back with the PayPal Business Debit Card

    • 2% cash back on purchases made with the PayPal CashBack Credit Card

Secure, convenient ways to pay

To get started, consumers add their eligible PayPal, Venmo, or debit card to their Apple Wallet the same way they’d add any other payment type.

Start by selecting “add debit or credit card” in the Apple Wallet app on your phone, iPad, or Mac. Then, either input your credit or debit card information or scan it into the app. Once the card is added, you’re free to start using your new payment method for Apple Pay.

With any Apple Pay transaction, users can rest assured knowing their personal information is secure. All purchases are dependent on either Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode to successfully go through. This is true regardless of whether consumers are paying in a store or on a website.

The process is also faster and more convenient, as the credit or debit card information stays stored on your device. Rather than having to get up and find a credit card, or manually enter in your shipping information each time you want to make a purchase online, adding the card to your Apple Wallet simplifies the checkout process.

Currently, credit card holders must add these new payment methods in the Apple Wallet app. However, there are plans to host a direct link in both the Venmo and PayPal apps.
