Chick-fil-A is picky about what new items it rolls out, but after endless variations of a new sandwich, it’s decided it likes what it came up with.
The new – and seasonal – concoction is the Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich. Sort of like a backyard barbecue on a bun, the smoky-flavored sandwich balances the subtle flavors of maple syrup together with a gentle heat and grill flavor.
And there’s more: a lemon herb marinated boneless chicken breast, served on a buttery and toasted maple flavored brioche bun, topped with Pepper Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce, bacon hand-tossed in a brown sugar and pepper blend, then topped off with sweet and spicy pickles. It’ll set you back a pretty penny, though – starting at $8.19 with prices varying by location.
There are 16 variations of Chick-fil-A's sandwich, and six of them have been tested in the Indianapolis, Ind., and Lexington, Ky., markets. It was created by Chef Christy Cook.
“Throughout my childhood, I always loved maple syrup, so I was thrilled to incorporate it into our newest chicken entrée, the Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich. The sweetness of the maple syrup complements the smoky flavors of the grilled chicken and the hint of spice from the Pepper Jack cheese and pickles,” Cook said in a statement.
If this works, there’ll be other innovations down the pike, too. Allison Duncan, Chick-fil-A’s director of menu and packaging said that consumers can expect the chain to put more “surprise” sandwich innovations in the pipeline in the next year or so.
The peach milkshake is back, too
It’s peach season and who better to do its annual peach milkshake revisit than Chick-fil-A?
Chick-fil-A's seasonal Peach Milkshake – one of the brand's most popular – is returning for its 15th year. The company did not say how long the shake will hang around, so better get one while the getting’s good.
