Would not recommend them to anyone, the communication is terrible and they scam you on the rate. You provide your full list of items and then they give you a quote. I approved the quote, day of my scheduled move they show up and say it's actually going to be almost double what they quoted even though items did not change actually reduced. I needed to move so I unhappily accepted the charge increase.
Once they finished packing they said they planned to deliver this tomorrow (I was moving from IL to MI), great. I'll be there. They did not show up, I was calling them daily for an update for 2 weeks, was given the run around that truck was broken down in MI, then it was IN, then it was back in IL, that someone would get back to me (they never did). Eventually my stuff did arrive, one table was broken. They took a picture of it and said they will take care of it. I have called several times to follow up, and no one has called me back about paying me for the broken item. Overall I spent thousands more than I planned to, and it was a very stressful experience.

These were the most professional, kindest, fastest movers I’ve ever had. They also had the most reasonable price I’ve ever been offered as well. They packed all of my items with so much care, nothing got scratched or damaged even though it was a long-distance move. They were so careful and even packed up my whole 2-bedroom apartment in about 2 hours (so fast!!). They also were careful about making sure my cats wouldn’t run out or get scared and were very sweet to my cats as well. They also pay so much attention to your wants and needs, like at my new apartment, they remembered how I arranged my old apartment and asked if I wanted things placed similarly. It was so cool that they noticed small details like that just to make moving so much easier. I will definitely be using them again in the future!

I loved my experience moving with HMS. My two movers handled my studio-to–one-bedroom move with so much care — everything was fast, efficient, and incredibly smooth. I’ve seen people mention unexpected add-ons, but that wasn’t my experience at all. I had a few items sticking out of bins and they kindly repacked everything into larger boxes on the spot to make sure it was all protected. It ended up being such an easy, stress-free move for me. Hercules seemed to be great when setting up my move from Arizona to Washington, as they assured me that the delivery would be able to happen by September 5th (the pickup happened on 8/28). Well, it has been a nightmare since. The subcontractor they used, First Class Movers, did not communicate for over two weeks. They do not take phone calls directly, and email responses sporadically, and will text sometimes. It is now October 6th and delivery is supposed to happen this afternoon.
I would contact Hercules about the situation, but they were no help. I also contacted Hercules about receiving a partial refund, and the service representative balked and said that they have 30 business days. This is listed in the contract near the end, so part of this is on me for trusting a sales representative that assured me the delivery would be by September 5th.
Do not use this company. They sound great at first and tell you what you want to hear, but they have no control over when your belongings will be delivered and acted insulted when I asked about a refund. Our belongings showed up late on the 39th day. Of course, many were damaged and some missing. Not a single box was salvageable for reuse. The moving truck showed up with one person, dragging some items between the truck and apartment.
Read the fine print in that for missing, damaged, or destroyed items you would have to get additional insurance as the insurance provided only covers a rate of $0.60 per lb per item. So as you receive your destroyed bookcase that weighed 25lbs, you have to file claim with multiple pictures, make and model, and additional information to potentially receive a max of $15.
This has been an eye-opener for me. The carrier that they subcontracted with had no care, as they obviously threw, dragged, and trashed our belongings between multiple moving trucks. If you don’t get enough insurance to cover your belongings entirely, you may very well be left in the same position with a bunch of trashed and lost belongings.
In hindsight, I wish I would have went with a company that did not contract with other carriers and could directly move our belongings without the delay and having them loaded and reloaded into multiple trucks over the course of 39 days. We spent nearly $5,000 dollars on the move and are going to have to purchase hundreds of dollars' worth of replacement items that were broken or lost. Again, I strongly recommend not using Hercules or the carrier they contracted with First Class Movers.
