Barbizon has changed my life in such a wonderful way! The classes have taught me to be more confident and proud of who I am. From the first day, I felt it would be a great experience for me. Barbizon is a amazing place to explore what you are capable of doing and learn to your capacity. Today is my graduation and I am so excited to show everybody what I had learned.

On 10/23/2019, I sent an overnight letter of cancellation to 4950 West Kennedy Blvd, Suite 200, Tampa, FL 33609. After my husband and daughter were informed of negative reviews and personally not having the time to commit to a full day of "training" (drop off and pick up with 1 hour commute each way), my daughter stated she did not want to waste her parents money and chose to cancel as she no longer felt this was a reputable program based on the feedback she and her father received.

    Red Flags:

    1) Prior to signing up, I requested scholarship assistance and was granted a $1000 scholarship making the price $1495.
    2) My credit card on file was charged $210 prior to the 3 day cancellation period was over.

    3) The Barbizon Tampa office attempted to avoid signing for the certified letter when UPS attempted delivery at 10:00 am CST. I immediately contacted UPS and advised that the office was indeed open, redelivery for the same day was attempted and this time signed for by the front office.

Once a call was placed to the corporate office for status updates, their true scam artist tactics come out, for example, you stay on hold for extended periods of time and the once consistent text messages and phone calls are no longer answered. The alleged Director Kathleen ** asked me, "is it the money or the time commitment?" And began to accuse me of wasting her time because "she is very busy".

This place, and the few employees I had the unfortunate opportunity to interact with, are laughable. I wouldn't give them any amount of money for this level of unprofessionalism and inexperience. I gave this organization the professional courtesy of an email and Kathleen asked if I texted her the cancellation - I am appalled but not surprised. I will do my best to help my daughter in this business, and I encourage parents to research and read. Did you notice the disclaimer on the top banner of this ConsumerAffairs page that states that Barbizon pays for their participation on this site?

People were telling me that my child should be a model, and I thought of Barbizon like a school education and that he could learn a lot from it. The program taught him how to be professional, how to act, and things that he needs to know for life and for his profession. He has graduated from all the classes and he has done one modeling thing that we found on our own. My child has an event in December and Barbizon called to follow up on things they need. I had a problem trying to get a hold of them when I called them but they do call. Everybody has been very friendly and kind.

The staff at Barbizon was great. Courtney is the perfect cheerleader for the group. She is friendly and very honest. We just gotten out from PTD cruise and we saw her on the ship. She was following up with everybody that was on her class to see how they were doing and how many callbacks they got. My daughter loves the runway, and she got some pretty good firm callbacks after the cruise.

My child was a contestant in the National American Miss Pageant and then after that, she was approached by Barbizon in the mall in Columbia, South Carolina. Instead of the NAMP, we headed on the path of Barbizon and working with them was a great experience. She attended the classes and I got feedback from her ambassador, David, as well as the people who were on the line when I called to make sure that everything was okay for her classes to be scheduled when she missed. We went to Amelia Island last year and she also did several weekends at the same mall where she was approached. She worked those several weekends in the summertime. Everything went smoothly and well with Barbizon.

My child has come out of her shell some. She wants to be a high fashion model because of her height. She has been getting many callbacks on the competition she’s been in, and I tried to get her to ask what she needs to work on or what areas she needs to develop more. She’s not one who will just go and ask, but I’m trying to push her to do that. Barbizon’s program is a good experience for anyone who wants to get their experience on stage or as a model or actor or actress because it’s a very good one.

Somebody approached me and told me about the raffle and about Barbizon. I filled out the raffle ticket and they called me in to do an audition, which was where it all started. I like how fun and informative the classes were and how it encourage you a lot. Everybody who went in there with low self-confidence didn't come out the same way because we all encouraged each other. The teachers encouraged us too and they were very nice. My first teacher for the first class was very modern with her teaching. She connected with us and laughed with us a lot, and we jumped around. Since it was the first class, she made it her mission to make us all feel comfortable. Then, I had a teacher who was the same way and she was very nice and open. She was kinda like one of us but also still a teacher.

I was never much into modeling or acting, but due to Barbizon, I went through competition, and I'm with an acting agency now. It helped me with acting and I did some modeling. My confidence wasn't as high before I went through the program and now, it's a lot better. I wear more things that I wanna wear and I'm more comfortable in my own skin. I currently also work for them. If I didn't really support what they were doing, I wouldn't promote them to anyone, and I wouldn't be going out and telling people about them.

My daughter signed up for Barbizon Modeling & Acting Centers. I didn’t have a clue she was interested with it until Barbizon called me. They said that they were really interested in her so we decided to go ahead and go with it. Their staffs were all wonderful. Since we’ve already paid for her classes, they said that anytime she feels like she needs to go back, all she has to do is contact them and then she can go back at any point in time to take her refreshers course. I was impressed.

My daughter completed their six-month classes. She was secluded and didn’t really talk to many people. And now, she’s coming out of her shell. She’s definitely more of a people person now. She went to one of the Dallas competitions and it went really well. She got 11 call backs there. She did get one job out of it and that was with Barbizon, and that was to go to a competition in Indianapolis. She was one of what they call the Model Mafia Girls there, which means she didn’t get paid, but she got full access to all the agents that were there. So, she did get some more contacts there.

My daughter was at the mall and somebody from the Barbizon kiosk convinced her to sign up for a drawing because they thought she was pretty. A number of things made me decide they were right for her. I like that the classes were drawn out over a long period of time, which reinforced that over and over with her for several months as opposed to two weeks of intensive and you're done. I also like that they really stress school work. She's a high school student and they said she had to have a high-grade point average and if her grades flipped, she wouldn't be eligible.

I like that Barbizon is a wholesome brand and doesn't promote a whole lot of that sexier type things. What really made it work for us was the payment plan so we didn't have to come up with a big chunk at one time. However, after she graduated, there wasn't a whole of support. She went to the Midwest event that she was chosen for and to Indianapolis. She also received 12 callbacks, which was the second-highest amount in her category. However, they have not been able to work with her locally. As a modeling agency, they don't have anything for less populated areas so if she wanted to really be active, she would have to go to Saint Louis, Dallas, New York or Los Angeles.

The staff at Barbizon was always upbeat, very supportive and friendly. One of the reasons I signed her up was that she has been in counseling for a couple of years because she was bullied a lot by the girls in her school. Barbizon really built up her self confidence and it helped her. She has anxiety attacks and if she got nervous, they'd say, "It's okay, just step out of the room, get yourself together and then come back." They established this in the beginning and they never called her out on it or drew attention to it so she felt more comfortable with that as well.

We were in Northpark Mall in Ridgeland, Mississipi when a young lady from Barbizon walked up to my daughter and asked: "Would you like to sign up for a chance to win a scholarship?" My daughter was interested and I would like for her to do activities outside of her homeschooling. We went to the initial introduction to the program not knowing what it was, but the presentation was great, amazing and inspiring. It wasn't gonna be time-consuming and the character development was gonna help her with her confidence, which as was exciting. It would also open up opportunities for modeling and acting. We walked up to the young lady and she was impressed with my daughter's appearance over some of the other young ladies who weren't dressed age-appropriate. We signed up, which was easy, and the lady said she would give us a callback. Then I did the initial payment.

My daughter had great teachers and the coordinators that I spoke with were great. The teachers are one-on-one if you need them to be and they're encouraging in how open they are about their experiences. They were amazing, nice, courteous, friendly and patient. Regardless of whatever question I had to ask them, they were always open to answer. And if they couldn't answer the question, they would give me over to someone who could and I really appreciated that.

Our interactions with people from Barbizon has been phenomenal. I love Lily and Mercedes. Both of them are amazing and work really well with my kid. When we did the Virginia thing, I had so much fun being a backstage mom in the dressing room. It was really awesome. But I don't quite understand the placement that they do. She's on the placement list, but I haven't heard anything. I would like is to be notified of auditions in the area so that I can try to check into that. She has had four callbacks and one was very promising, but most of them were in Virginia area. We drive back and forth, even though it's not that far, it's that far for us. We have something in Rochester or even in New York City, although that's still far. But there's gotta be some great opportunities out in Rochester and I've not heard anything from placement and I thought I would by now.

We also got an opportunity to do some recruiting. One of our friends worked for Barbizon and we didn’t even know it. She had an opportunity at the mall and we really got to shadow the opportunity, which was really cool. I like the way that Barbizon brings the kids in. I thought it was a hoax at the beginning. We did a lot of research and checked into it. But until you get into the middle of it, you don't know what's going on.

I wish that at the end of the classes, parents could be invited in for the jam at least one time. Parents put a ton of money and a lot of time into this and they don't get to see that final excitement on the kids' faces or hear any critiques. The kids hear them, but when you have a younger kid, it's really important. A lot of parents, don't do anything with it after all the time they put into the program. And part of the reason they don't anything with it is because they don't see the results. Like when we've been in dance and I go to an open house, I say, "That's what I'm paying for and that's why I do what I do."

Lily, my daughter, absolutely loves the Barbizon program and has gone through about 99 hours of training. We went to all the classes the first time through, then we went through them a second time, except for the last class. She was eight when she started and she has never complained. She has always been bold and Barbizon gave her poise and the tools she needs to look good along with being bold. Barbizon has taught her how to tame her boldness, not to squelch it, and how to use it for her benefit. It has been awesome to watch her grow.

My friend Ally had gone through an audition with her son and posted about it. I talked to her about it and then she introduced me to Miguel. Miguel saw Ryan and wanted to help and got us into Barbizon. My son always wanted to be a model and he's now signed with Mazza Models. But I was looking at Barbizon for what they were teaching. It was not just the modeling, the modeling was just a plus. It was what they were gonna be doing with him outside of modeling, which was why we really pursued it. I like the etiquette they taught him. They also taught him how to speak confidently. I like that Miguel told me that they want Ryan to go to college and to keep his grades up. That was how we've always tried for our kid. Miguel was awesome and still my friend. He made it a really good experience for us.

When I ask my son what they did, he'd say nothing. He would tell me about some of the exercises that they did, like where they had to speak loudly, but he doesn't tell me a whole lot. I totally understand the whole privacy thing, but because we have boys, we don't get much communication from him. I know that they did improv and I know he loved runway.

Barbizon called Ally to ask if they'd be interested in Dawson going on a cruise. They're getting to see more benefits right now. We were told that in about eight weeks, we'd get our certificate and then we'd join the call list. They've been working on Ryan's portfolio. He's been to three photoshoots. He was 15 when he signed and we were told that once he turns 16, they'd be able to push for him and that he would be busy during winter break through the summer, but my son doesn't like to miss school. My son had to miss two classes, but he made them up on a different day. His photoshoot was on one of his makeup. I called Katie and said I haven't seen any pictures. She said it might be in her trunk and she would see if she could find it. But I never received the pictures. I have not seen one picture of my son from Barbizon. We don't get to see what we paid for.

The last day was the runway and we parents wanted to see what they've learned because we didn't see it. We just saw the postcards. Then they come in and say what was next and that you have to memorize your monologue. I didn't like that we didn't get to see the end result of anything. We paid $1,900 for it and we don't get to see anything. It was disappointing.

My daughter did the six-month course where they go all day and was able to learn so many different things, especially personality development. They also learned other things as they relate to the industry, where they got great knowledge. My daughter had participated in a class before and she learned so much more from Barbizon. She has always been outgoing, but I saw the growth and she came more out of her shell and her presentation was well when she did her commercial. She did her walk much better than she has in the past. It built her confidence a little bit better than it was when she first started.

The competition was wonderful. It was very professional and the conference for the parents, where we got to go in and ask questions, and listen to the panel of judges and to hear their experience. Even though the kids were in their training courses, it was something that the parents were able to do too and get a little bit more knowledge about the industry. That was good. I really enjoyed that thoroughly as well. It’s a great way for kids to come out of their shell if they’re in one. It was a great experience. I've already made recommendations to some friends.

The only unfavorable experience that I had with Barbizon was when I paid for the competition, I made an agreement to pay in installment because I’ve had two kids that went, and it didn’t pan out exactly how it was set up, and they took it out all at one time. I had it in the account and I didn’t worry about it, but it would have been something really big had I not had it. But other than that, the staff was friendly and easy to work with. They listen when you ask questions. Any time I called, they took the call and answered any questions, and I really enjoyed that as well.

My friend had his daughter went through Barbizon's program and he thought it was really good for his daughter. My daughter, Bailey, wants to play around with modeling. She wants to deal with stuff more behind the scenes than the actual modeling, but she was excited at the opportunity. So far, everybody has been great at Barbizon. If they don’t have an answer, they find you somebody that does. And everybody is super polite and super nice. They’re very helpful. If you got anything going on, they contact you back immediately. They don’t give you a lot of runaround. They tell you straight up what you’re gonna need. And they let you know what everything is gonna entail as far as if you’re gonna have additional costs for this or the time and effort you’re gonna have to put in. I like the company and most of the individuals, because you usually deal with the same ones repetitively.

Bailey loved the program and she learned a lot. She even wrote an essay and won a little scholarship from her own personal opinion of what she thought and learned about going to it. They even put it online. She said it gave her a lot of confidence and just simple little things, like the way you’re supposed to sit and open the door. We've already went through several audition programs or processes, where she did really well and she’s won scholarships back from it. She also got offered the contracts, so Barbizon is pretty legit.

My daughter achieves well, but she was socially awkward. She was interested in modeling so she decided to try the Barbizon Modeling & Acting Centers, and I said okay as it might help her to get a little self-confidence and how to present in front of people. Their program gives the kids the ability to know what they're looking at. And so, she did their schooling process. Their reps stay in contact with her by email and by phone calls. And then, they are with their students all day when they go to school. Their program is on the weekend. They start at 8:45 in the morning and they get out at 5:30. So far, they've been informative with both the parents and the kids as to the process and what to expect.

My daughter was a bit shy. Even though she was in pageants and I put her in stuff to get her to come out of her shyness, she was not really coming out of her shell that much. She's a bit dark, Asian-American and she grew up among lighter complexion Asians, and she was discriminated against. She agreed to go to Barbizon and said she wanted to prove to the Asian-American community that it's not complexion that gets the jobs done but what you're able to do. And now, she said it helps build her confidence quite a bit, on top of the pageants. She's happy about it.

She's now in college and she said it helps her tremendously at her school. She's like a teacher's pet because she's really outgoing. She speaks to other students, unlike before. Barbizon helped my daughter take her self as who she is even if her complexion is different. What she told me that's great about Barbizon is that one of the teachers said that standing out is about personality and the uniqueness of the person rather than being beautiful or having to outdo everybody. I really love that.

I've been trying to recommend Barbizon to almost every one of my daughter's friends, who's Asian-American that is a bit timid and afraid that they're not good enough for anything. I told them that with Barbizon, they're not just looking at your outside look and they're really a big-time supporter of a kid getting education and helping them build their self-esteem and coming out of their shell. The Barbizon staff has been very nice and I love that they taught people to be professional and ethical.

However, it wasn’t really clear on the process, what they were auditioning for or what exactly was going to be the process afterwards. Most Barbizon employees are friendly and courteous, but they're unavailable to answer questions for the most part and they seem to be a very busy organization. Nonetheless, one of my children has completed the training and it went fine. Most of the change that I saw was his knowledge pertaining to how to model, how to converse and talk to people in the industry, how to submit additional material, how to find other things and how to find worthy agents. He also picked some new information on hygiene.

My sister was prettier than me. So, I wanted to be a model and show all her friends that I could be a model, too. I signed my name on some Cleveland website that would send me emails and calls. And a lot of people called back, but I ignored them. Spontaneously, Barbizon called and I answered, and they said I got in. I felt really positive about it though I didn’t really know anything about Barbizon at all. I was so new to the whole model thing. But my mom said that my aunt did it and that it was really good. She said she thought I should do it. So, I agreed to do their program and I completed it. It was the best experience of my life.

It was awesome and it boosted my self-confidence. I was really down initially but the first day, we all were cheering for each other and it was the coolest experience ever. I would recommend it to all of my children and all of my friends. It was pretty cool. I had multiple teachers because the teachers kept leaving to do business. But they were all very nice and one of them was really polite. She was helping us with our self-confidence and telling us about how she struggled with her own self-confidence. And she just said, “You know, you’re a Barbizon model now. So, you should feel really good about yourself.” And that really stuck with me.

Now, I'm better in my acting and social skills. We were all new people there and we all didn’t know each other’s names. We all were self-conscious about ourselves, but we all helped each other out. We were like one big family and I looked forward to it every month that we were going to each session. It also helped my improv. I never did drama club but it was good interacting and practicing. I feel like I’ve gotten better at it. In fact, I got two scholarships from two acting schools in LA and New York. So, that was at the recent competition for Barbizon in Indianapolis.

I knew there were classes that my daughter can learn things on how to present herself for modeling. Then I had a friend who had their daughter in the program and so she gave me the information to contact Barbizon. They were very accommodating, helpful and informative. I put her information out there, then I got a call back to go and audition in Baton Rouge. We did that, and then, I got a call back the next day. This was a process that was very organized. She went through the whole six-month course, she graduated, and then we competed in Texas in August, where she won the whole competition of 400 kids. We won this cruise, and we are getting ready to go on it in October.

Barbizon has given her abundant confidence. She has met great people. Everyone in this organization is very professional and willing to help. So, for her, it has been a big boost, getting her more exposure. They focus on schoolwork, attitude, kindness, and those moral things that are so important for young girls. In communication back and forth, sometimes, there had been a lapse in time. As a parent, you’d like to get the information you need right back to you. But sometimes, you just have to be patient in someone to call you back and so forth. Overall, I had a great experience with them. I absolutely recommend them.

My children were interested in participating in the Barbizon program, and they went through the basic five-month course. When I first signed up, the presentation was good and I was surprised to see how many people that I've seen on screen and in print are actually previous Barbizon participants. Their presentations keep your attention, because now people don't have that long attention spans. I also like the fact that they focus on education as well because they explain to the girls that they have to keep their GPA up, and they have to be participating at school. For the most part, every staff member that I've interacted with was very positive, upbeat and outgoing.

It has been a positive thing for my children to participate in Barbizon because it helps them keep up their confidence, especially with everything that teenagers go through nowadays. And I like that they've been taught about self-care. One of my daughters has a heart defect, but we already talk about nutrition at home to keep them on the path of taking care of their body. I also like watching how they present themselves when they're out in public. They also have lifetime placement, which I like. I have a little cousin and she's a Barbizon graduate as well. I'd recommend them for anybody who could afford it.

A friend told me about Barbizon and that was what made me sign up. The enrollment process was very easy. Everything was how I expected it to be. I took modeling and acting classes. We did a lot of modeling, a bit of acting and some makeup, but not much. I love how everyone got along. Everyone was cool with each other and everything was smooth. The teachers were great. They taught to the best of their ability and they were very open with us. They made us feel comfortable. I like how enthusiastic they were about what they were teaching us. They seemed like they knew what they were talking about, that they had experience in it as well. I just wish there was a bit more on the acting side. The modeling was good, but I was more interested in the acting part, and we didn’t get too much of it. Nevertheless, I learned a lot from them.

I came across Barbizon then they were coming to our area, so it was very easy for us to sign up with them. They were friendly and they gave us plenty of information to help decide on whether or not we were gonna let her do it. They’ll also answer questions when I call and ask. Our daughter did both the modeling and the acting classes. So far, she has become more outgoing now and that was the reason why I was wanting to put her in it. It’s just to help her to become more outgoing and to break away from me. And we accomplished that.

Our daughter got into a mixture of the makeup and modelling class. We felt pretty confident in the program and signing up was fairly easy. Also, the staff is amazing and our ambassador is awesome. She keeps us very informed on everything. She looks after our daughter whenever we're not able to be there. She's a real motivational ambassador that keeps her moving forward. My daughter has tremendously improved with her overall confidence. She was shy but now, she's a little more outgoing and a lot less scared to get up in front of people. Overall, she's changed from a little girl to a little woman now. It has been a great experience with them.

When I was signing up my daughter with Barbizon, the reps were very informative and straight to the point. They told her what she'd be doing in the classes. At the point of coming in the building, they had a little set up outside the door where they greeted us and showed us to our next destination in the building for the tour. They were polite. There was a miscommunication about the attire though. One person said that students could wear whatever they want that was inside the guide. But then, another instructor came along to say that they had to wear white blouse and black pants and it had to be long sleeves. But other than that, I'm happy with the experience. My daughter is an outgoing person and she's been more of the shorts, T-shirts and sneakers kind. But since joining Barbizon, she's coming out of that shell and she's wearing more girly stuff. Her confidence has improved as well.

My son is interested in acting. I found Barbizon online through a Google search and filled out the information form and they got back to me fairly quickly. The agent arranged an appointment date, time, and location for my son. The agent also made follow up phone calls to remind us of what to bring and to see if we had any questions or concerns. It was absolutely FREE to attend the event.

The day arrived and we absorbed a lot of information about the agency, Barbizon, what it takes to be a part of the industry, and what they can do for my son. Now, whether you are already experienced in modeling or acting or not experienced everyone can always use a little extra training and a boost to be better. My son went through the audition process and as we were already well aware that he needs a lot of work, the agent remained professional and enjoyed my son's presentation of himself.

We received a call the following day with an offer to receive training at a cost that many have ridiculed as a bazaar amount that I find fair. Well, why would anyone want to give such quality training away for FREE? This is an agency that offers a service so we cannot say because there is a fee that you cannot afford or don't want to pay, suddenly this is a scam. When you go to a law office you get a free consultation but further services to handle your case cost money. An attorney asking you to pay for his/her services to handle your case does not make it a scam. This is a similar situation. If you can afford it, I say jump in.

Unfortunately, I could not afford the amount that was requested to get my son the training he needs to achieve his dream career as an actor. Those that oppose the cost must consider that you get what you pay for. If you want expert training, astonishing results in skill improvement and other areas to land jobs, and you want the best connections to hiring companies Barbizon is the best option. What do you have to lose? If you want to use YouTube as your guide to gain the skills you deem so serious to your future instead of the experts then you go ahead and take that chance. I hope YouTube gives you the latest valid information and connections to jobs too. I, on the other hand, will do everything I can to save for my son to start the training in December. Good Luck to you all.

She is a child that has a lot of anxiety so that was the main reason why we kind of agreed to pay out this money for her to go. She did like it. However, when we first went to their conference, a lot of things were not explained. I didn’t understand the whole process a lot. The next days were like pushy, pushy to pay all this money. Hi Stacy,

We're sorry for the experience you had as it is not our corporate policy or the experience we want for our customers. To be clear, we do not charge money in order to get work and we do not guarantee work. There is a reason we've worked in this industry for 80 years and we have thousands of reputable and credible industry professionals that work with us, because we follow industry guidelines. The only cost associated with Barbizon is for our training program, which is standard for classes or training. We're sorry you had an experience with an employee that clearly did not follow protocols, wasn't knowledgeable or needed additional training. We can promise you when given the opportunity to fix a problem, we do our best to fix it. We understand your experience with Barbizon was a couple years ago and we wish we could have learned about it earlier so we could have addressed it while it was timely, that being said, we're committed to fixing issues and would be happy to talk to you to see what we can do to make it right.

Broomall, Pa, Barbizon, the staff knows how to talk their way around their schemes, they are like politicians. For example an apology for details missed was given at the competition and the rep spun it to add fault to the clients. Some apology! They are so shady! I paid for a competition that my daughter participated in but was not "in". When we originally paid, she had to undergo a vision treatment for her worsening eyesight. They held the payment and let her enter the following year, 2019. However, she became an after thought. Even after several conversations and a photo shoot, they still had no preparation for her. The judges had no idea who she was, she was not on any of their lists, she was not even given a number! They lied and said it got stuck to someone else's number and they didn't want to have everyone check, then they hand wrote a number and pinned it to her.

At the end, the judges could not even give her notes because it was like she crashed the competition and was not seen as an actual participant. Her number was not even in the line up of participants, I was told prior to the competition that her head shot would be given to the judges. When I asked where was her number and her notes and questioned how her participation was handled and if the judges were given her head shot, I was further lied to. I was told to wait and he would be right back. We waited so long that we started to leave. Dwayne finally returned and said to go see two judges who gave her callbacks. The first just said she didn't request her, she didn't know who she was and had no head shot, but the judge liked her. The 2nd judge also did not give her a callback, he was seeing every and anyone on a general level. We were LIED TO about the WHOLE competition!

The staff is shady and manipulative and are masterful at spinning things and covering themselves. They only presented me with the most expensive photo package until, fortunately I found out there was a less expensive one. They give you "deals" and "discounts" or "add ons" while lying about your process. The whole thing was and is so upsetting we decided to have nothing more to do with them! My daughter was hurt and disappointed and did not want to continue with them or be connected with them.

Thus far, things have been really good. Everyone has been super helpful. If ever I have a question, there's always answer within the next few days. They wanna help us grow and emphasize a lot that they give us the tools, but it's our job to use them, contact the agents, do all the emails and keep up with everything. I'm only in college, but I definitely see how the real world works. At Barbizon, they don't treat me like a little kid. Instead, they treat me as a professional model and actor. My daughter found out about Barbizon through another friend at school and sent in her information, and she got contacted. So far, it's been okay. But there were some inconsistencies with their customer service process. There seems to be a communication issue internally, where some departments aren't talking to each other. For example, now that my daughter has graduated the institute, from time to time, they may call her back to do promotional work. We'll talk to one representative that initially contacts us and they're like, "Okay, we will feed your information to the back office, " but then the back office doesn't get the information, and there's just little inconsistencies with that.

They're a little bit inflexible with some of their payment programs, but for the most part, it is what it is. I would've prefer if they had a little bit more flexibility in terms of commitment time. So you make commitments to certain things, which is a financial commitment, and life happens and you're not able to go through, you lose that money. But their reps were very professional and very pleasant. They usually do their best to communicate better information in a reasonable manner. They're always very warm.

The people at Barbizon are helpful and really very nice. The downfall was that we had signed our daughter up on a cruise but when there was a life event that hit us that no one was expecting, the money that was taken out of my account to go towards the cruise was non-refundable and I didn't understand that. When I talked to Liz, she said it was in the contract. But I didn't see that in the contract and when they were talking about it, what my husband and I heard was that it would be refundable. They said the money is gonna sit in a pool on my daughter's account until there are other classes that would come up that would have to be paid for and the money would come out of that. But that doesn’t make sense to me. They’ve got x amount of money on her account that’s just sitting there.

Liz said that there was something coming up in August that costs like $1,000. It’s the same thing as the cruise, not as big, but she thought it was better. But I have heard nothing about it. It’s upsetting and just for that, that makes me not want to have my daughter participate in Barbizon. When you’re faithful in the payments then a life event happens but your money is not returnable – that’s the only part that I didn’t like. I’m dealing with my father right now and that extra money could help me.

On top of that, after my daughter's class, all she’s going through and all she’s learned, we would think that she would have at least a one callback, not to keep forking out money for this and for that and not get anywhere. My daughter is beautiful and has an interest in modeling. She’s done the six months of class and they gave her some really good feedback but after the classes, she hasn’t gotten a call or any jobs. Then when you go to these modeling agencies, they say you really don’t have to pay money for your child to model or to have jobs because there is talent in them and that’s it. That is nothing like Barbizon. You don’t pay but you do a commercial and then based off that, they’ll work with you or with the kids. That’s the direction that I’m leaning towards just because of all that’s happening. I paid $1,900 for a six-month class but we've got nothing from Barbizon.

Once she completed her certificate program we made the decision to send her on the annual PTD (Passport To Discovery) Cruise. The cruise gives attendees the opportunity to showcase in front of many industry agents. Barbizon is clear in their objective to "prepare" and provide "showcase opportunities". My daughter was really interested in doing modeling and when we went to one of Barbizon's information sessions downtown, they told us how they would have to decide whether or not you're selected to do their school. We heard from this woman that my daughter is selected but we decided not to do it at that time and that woman said they would always have a place for her. But when I tried to call back a year later, they said we had to come to another info session. So that was a little frustrating. It was a significant time investment for us and they didn’t make good on their word.

I looked into another option in our area but it had a large upfront cost. Now, I realize that it was about the same as Barbizon but at that time, it seemed like a lot to me. So due to lack of awareness of other options, we went with Barbizon. My daughter did six months of modeling school, where she went one day a month for six months. But when I asked a woman if a parent could pop in and observe one of their classes during the day for a short time if she wanted to, the woman said no and I don’t really like that policy. But was the program good? Was it helpful? Yes. Was it $2,000 worth? No. But that’s from the standpoint of someone who hasn’t gotten any jobs yet.

I'm unhappy with the fact that it seemed like we could have probably paid the same amount of money and had a portfolio, which seemed like it would really help my daughter get started. But we paid the money and we don’t have a portfolio, and I don’t really have any money left to do a portfolio because we spent it on the modeling school. Even though we registered for their placement thing, I think that my daughter would have to go online and check their listings really regularly to see if there's anything she could audition for as opposed to them just calling and saying, “Hey, there's an opportunity to audition in your city.”

I expected a little more full service – that they're gonna help her get auditions, that they're gonna contact us and that they're gonna make sure she has everything physically she needs in hand, such as a portfolio. But she doesn’t have that at the end of six months and $2,000. We didn’t know enough about the industry to know that a portfolio is what we needed and I feel that Barbizon is taking advantage of parents who don’t have a lot of time to do all the research. We're trusting Barbizon because they make a big deal at their info session about how many years old they are and what a good reputation they have. But they don’t really follow through actually making sure you have what you need.

Also, I feel like they put the onus too much on the student. They make it sound like once you go through this school, you're gonna be in the pipelines for this work. But really, we have to do all the footwork. To other parents, check out modeling agencies in your town because you may be able to pay the same amount of money or even less and actually have your child audition-ready. Right now, I'm not convinced that my child is audition-ready because she didn't have a portfolio. So, in that sense, I don’t feel it was really money well-spent.

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your feedback. We do not provide a portfolio because a portfolio is a collection of work that you obtain while working in the industry. We do see where you daughter has submitted her information to our placement department and it looks like already been placed, congrats to her. As you mentioned, this industry does require an incredible amount of work, just like most jobs. Success in this industry is very much up to the amount of work you want to put in and while we do send opportunities to our graduates who choose to enter the placement department, the work and the ability to get the job has to fall on the student. We provide the training and opportunities but the rest is really up to you. We'd be happy to schedule a conference call with our Director of Placement for you and you daughter to answer an questions to have about the placement process or about this industry. We are here to be a guiding resource for you and very much want your daughter to succeed.

My son was looking to get into modeling, so I did a Google search and came up with Barbizon. Barbizon's name was very familiar to me. I knew it was a well-established organization. Signing up was fine. The staff have always been very helpful. They’re a little bit slow technologically speaking, but otherwise, very good. Like to get in the placement, you had to fill out a card, and it takes six weeks to get your certificate. The communications are a little bit antiquated. But the whole process with Barbizon has been really nice. They’ve been very upfront about everything. It does cost money, and I get that. I’ve read some things online where people think it’s a money-grubber but it makes sense. You have to get educated, and that cost money. It’s a very nice program, so I’d recommend it. Another comment I would say is that the organization is always very professional.

My son has more confidence. It has definitely helped. He’s 11 now and he started when he was 10. And he wants to look good, to be dressed, and so forth. He’s excited about it. He wants to do some work. We haven’t gotten to do any paid jobs yet, but he’s going to the Passport to Discovery. And I’m trying to get him into some little auditions here and there. So, I’m hoping within the next years that he’ll be doing something.

We went with Barbizon based on the things they said they would provide and what they expected to do to help children. We liked how they're family oriented and responsible to parents. We've been with them two years now and thus far, she has learned the poses and she has matured. Barbizon is a class act.

Modeling and acting are things my daughter has always wanted to do. When Barbizon scouted her, I did some research and decided on them. She did the six-month program and it had given her a lot more confidence in her skills. The program included acting classes, photo movement classes, and runway classes. They also had an etiquette class. Barbizon was very involved in communicating with us to keep us prepared and informed. They called very often, checked up on her and made sure we knew what we needed for the next class. However, it took me five months to get the placement card I requested when we got her certificate. I had to call four times to get it and nobody could tell me what the hold up was. Finally, they just sent me an email and I was able to get it online. I’m not sure why I had to wait on a card if I could just get it online. Though the experience was expensive, my daughter enjoyed it and she learned a lot.

My son was always interested in becoming an actor. My wife and my son were searching online for schools and actor system programs and they got into Barbizon Modeling through that. When we went there, the people at Barbizon were acting nice and professional because they wanted everybody to do the business for them. When they call you over for them to show you the kind of program they got and for them to have you pay for, they will do it in a very nice hotel. They will set up something beautiful, then they will show you videos. They treat you really good and they tell you a lot of stuff about actors who are out there and that they became famous because they started in Barbizon. They were trying for us to go ahead and pay for whatever they offer.

After my son finished up the classes, he was fine with it, but in the end, it was hard for us to get the certificate that he completed the program. A couple of times, they said it was lost on the mail. Not only that, there was never a call for the auditions. It is also hard to get in touch with them for auditions. I think they lied. My wife received a text message saying that there was gonna be an audition for my son and that she had to call a number they sent out. She called the number, but there was never an answer. There was never a person alive to talk to. She was very mad.

There was also a time when Barbizon requested for some papers from my son. My wife sent over all the paperwork and all the pictures, but they misplaced it. They are not organized at all. My son was expecting something else. We paid over $3,000 for a year on a class and he knows how much money we paid. He is realizing that everything was not a lie, but he knows it is hard to get in touch with them, so he is trying to change his mind now. I am dissatisfied with our experience with Barbizon.

Our son and his friend were at the mall and they signed up his brother, Elijah, for the modeling classes with Barbizon. They called us and we went over to a learn-what-it’s-about seminar and Elijah decided to take the modeling classes. Although the people at Barbizon were friendly, the experience did not benefit Elijah at all. We paid a lot of money and we have had nothing from it. It did not build any self-esteem and it did not help him with memorization as for his schooling. They promised much more than they delivered.

We have been called and invited to attend a modeling event where they would recruit him or audition him. When we went to those, the first time, we didn’t know what to expect. They offered a trip to go to Florida and pay them about $7,000 more money to go on a cruise for which I’m paying of course. I paid them more money and then be auditioned in front of all these people who may or may not call him back. Then we went to the second audition which was the same thing as the first. I paid more money. This one was in Texas, where people are supposed to be able to look at my son and audition him if they choose him. It just seemed like I was throwing more money after more and more money.

The very first time that he decided to go, we were told that afterward, they would probably be contacted from the local mall and have them do the back-to-school fashion show like at a Macy’s or Penny’s, but we never heard a word and that was never mentioned again. We felt that they just wanted not just a little bit of money but a lot of money. We saw absolutely no return. Barbizon knows how to present their company and make everything look good with a lot of promises but there’s no follow-through.

My girls were constantly asking me about something that maybe they wanna do for a secondary thing while they were in college. So when the opportunity came up, I said we would give Barbizon a try. We paid over $3000 for them to attend their six months training. They went once a month there and dressed up professionally. It was eight or nine hours. But my girls decided not to continue Barbizon ‘cause it was not working for them. They said they were not being taught correctly. They felt like they were wasting their time and money when it came to the training. It was just a lot of talking, a lot of videos. But they needed more guidance, more hands-on when it came to teaching them and demonstrating more. They didn't learn as much, or specific ways of walking, or just poses. They still need that one-on-one tutoring ‘cause they’re still learning.

The people there were very nice. One time when I needed the makeup stuff, I called in to see if they sell it, and they did, and I bought it. I didn't get to interact a lot with them because we were told just to drop the children. And in the first orientation, it was a lot of people. Then, they picked who they needed. And then, once we paid them, my girls started going to class. We were given a schedule of certain things that apparently, my girls were supposed to work on, and things that they were supposed to bring when it came to the walking and everything. But a lot of the girls didn't even get to use what they took.

I found out that one of the people that I knew went through the same thing, and she said to me it was just a waste of money and that the child didn't learn anything. But I already was in it. And we tried to do that tour, or bus thing, and we paid the first fee. They were like forcing you saying they needed an answer. So, when they called us, I said yeah and we gave them the card number. But they didn't give us enough time to really think about it before I wanted to continue. And when we finally said no, they took that first payment and they didn't reimburse it.

So far, my daughter has participated in the regional competition. She was also given an open audition for their discovery thing, but we weren't able to do that because of conflict in our schedule. I hope, though, they have a little more information on the other talent agencies that they may be associated with. Other than that, my daughter really seems to enjoy being with Barbizon. My daughter pretty well had her personal development down as she’d done public speaking all the time. She just wanted to get into modeling. She went to a thing where one could go and sit and listen to it then she asked if she could do it. I told her yes and I paid the money for it. Getting started was easy. We just had to take her, like an hour and a half on a Saturday, to get to where we were going and then an hour and a half back. I’ve talked to people down at the Barbizon Clearwater, Florida branch and I had no trouble with them. They helped us when my daughter was sick one morning and we couldn't go, so they got her signed up for another one to finish her six classes out and she got her certificate. Now, it’s just waiting on my daughter, ‘cause they’ll give the modeling name that they’re hooked in with and who is 100% legit. I’m just waiting for her to give me two pictures.

My daughter's modeling skills are good. She’s only 19 so she’s got her teenage way. If I could change her little attitude, that’d be all right but it’s just that teenage stage that we’re going through. She’s put in seven applications to different colleges and she’s pursued a lot. She’s got a job plus she’s taking up a personal trainer. She wanted to be a doctor, but I think she’s pursuing other things too. She did National American Miss and a couple of pageants. She’s now trying to get hooked into somebody that does modeling. We're in Western Virginia and we're two hours away from there. I told her that I could take there if she could get somebody up that way but I wanted somebody that would be good and somebody who wouldn't tell her to pay this much money and then they were no good. Overall, Barbizon is good for kids that need personal development.

My daughter filled out something when she was at the North Star Mall in San Antonio. She was trying to pursue modeling or acting career. And Barbizon was more of a finishing school for her to teach her how to be a little more proper in regards to being a woman. It’s also an introduction to that business from a modeling perspective if that’s something she may wanna pursue. I’m always a little skeptical any time you sign up for these things because you never know what you’re getting into. I’ve read enough good reviews to where there weren’t too many people saying that the experience was bad. There were people saying that because they went to Barbizon, it should land them jobs, but that expectation wasn’t with me. And just like with everything, you take it with a grain of salt and try to determine whether or not this is something you wanna try to take on.

The people at Barbizon were great and very respectful. They were also very informative in the questions that we had to ask. My daughter had a lot of fun while she was there and it gave her a perspective on the whole modeling career field. Nowadays, when she takes pictures, she does a little of that photogenic type of stuff and she even teaches my wife how to get in and out of a car in a dress.

The whole industry is extremely expensive, because one thing leads to the next, and there’s always money associated with that. When my daughter had opportunities to go and audition at some events that Barbizon had, I got the feeling the events were just to get her in front of other people that were in the industry. Then that connection with other people in the industry would lead to cost me more money. So I was a little standoffish to it. But there have been some follow-up calls from them with some of the events that they had. And I’m glad that they still try to connect through sending emails or calling for her every time there’s an opportunity.

What I paid for the class was worth every penny. At least it taught my daughter some skills on how to be a woman, how to take care of herself, and how to present herself. If she was 100% all in to say that modeling is really what she wanna do then I’d jump all over it. If she's not sure, then I’d have a hard time investing any more money on it. But overall, I totally got everything that I wanted to get out of the program for my daughter and she got what she needed to get out of it in regards to trying to help her determine if modeling was something she would want to pursue.

It also didn't take very long. Someone was always available, whether it be her instructors, the actor who came out to came out to Dallas or the lady we met at the audition in Florida. They also gave us some insiders on what to look for as far as scams and different things of that nature.

My child went to Barbizon's full personal development class for six months. She participated in those classes and she learned a lot, and she's been in fashion shows since then. She is able to speak for herself now. I just take her to an audition, sign her in and sit there. A lot of people that she comes in contact with thinks that she's been doing it since she was much younger, and she has to tell them that she hasn’t. We're super appreciative.

We saw Barbizon in the mall which made us stop and check them out. My daughter was interested in their services and I didn’t have any difficulties getting her into the program. She went for six months but she didn’t really care for it because she said some of the stuff that they did was extra and some people can do the stuff from YouTube. I asked her after the class was over and she said that the make-up stuff was too much. The program should’ve been a little more realistic. It was not what I thought it was gonna be at all. My daughter didn’t have any fun and she didn’t like it, but I had already paid my money and I forced her to go.

My sister used to model for Barbizon way back in the days. I used to have little gigs here and there, and then, I met a photographer that I met through my sister that worked at Barbizon. So I decided to come in. I went for an interview and I was chosen. I started taking classes and I started my training process. It was great. Everybody was so energetic, polite, hopeful, and everyone was willing to work with you. No one felt overwhelmed with any questions that they had. I really had a great time there and I loved all the instructors and coaches. They were really great.

Working with Barbizon has helped me build a lot of self-esteem for myself. They’ve made me feel more competent. Also, I used to wear makeup and they even encouraged me not to wear makeup. That’s my only look now and it just makes me feel way much more confident instead of hiding behind closed doors and sulking about what my image may look like. I’ve also gotten noticed and gotten a few jobs to do and some background work. I got actual industry privileges. And it was great to be out there and get a good look at what the industry is like.

A friend of a coworker told me about Barbizon. Her granddaughter was going and I learned about it. Since my daughter was small, everybody always told me, “Why don't you do?” And then, one day, she said to me, “Mommy, I wanna be rich.” So, I just decided to do business with Barbizon. We were excited. My daughter learned a lot. She did acting, dancing and modeling.

The staff of Barbizon have been very understanding when dealing with questions. They cooperate with us and are able to see us to get to the best. Since Barbizon my daughter has a more classier attitude about herself. She always wanted, “Hey, mommy, can I put on this?” “Can I dress in heels?” So, that personality just pushed. It made her blossom a little bit more. They’re a great company trying to instill a good personality in people. I will recommend them.

Jasmine took interest in the arts and I understood that Barbizon expanded their area of representation from just doing modeling to singing, dancing and acting. I also know that they're a well-known agency. We decided to go with them and throughout, their communication was on point. They would always call to remind us of her next classes. Any time I had any questions regarding classes, payments and scheduling, they were always readily available and their response time was immediate.

Eventually, she completed singing, modeling and acting with Barbizon. She was also able to complete another program and do an off-Broadway play. She really enjoyed that experience. Barbizon has given her more confidence and has helped a bit with her posture. They gave her the tools that she needed. Jasmine has told me that she loves Barbizon. When the scouts first met her and asked if she wanted to be part of them, with the way they described the program, she automatically felt that it was the right place for her. When she started, she said that everyone there was so loving and accepting. They were willing to work with her. With it, she came out of her shell and became more confident to do things that she wouldn't have if she hadn't done Barbizon.

And when we were there, Barbizon caught her eye. She said, "You know Mom, I'm really interested in this," so we went and when she had her interview, they accepted her into the program. Every single person that we've dealt with has been the ultimate of a professional. They really care about the kids and the families. They helped me along the way. Anytime I had a question, they responded right away with an email or a phone call.

My daughter learned a ton in the program. She has competed just twice so far and already has two contracts with talent agencies. She did everything she was supposed to do, and she has done very well. She got an excellent education and foundation in a lot of different areas. She was sent on an audition for a feature film already. She also got interested in modeling and she won an award when she went into her second competition this fall and is gonna walk in the New York City Fashion Week fashion show. I've already had some friends that have asked, and my daughter had some friends that have gone ahead and applied. I've told friends that as long as their kid is interested and they wanna do the work, and they don't just expect Barbizon to do everything for them, it's great.

Barbizon Modeling has been one of the greatest things we have ever done. My daughter was walking down the mall a couple of years ago and Barbizon reps walked up to her and said she should be a model, which she was never thinking about doing. She didn't even tell me and she didn't call back for about a year or more. And then she said those people kept calling her so we checked it out. I felt like we should be optimistically cautious and not trust anybody. But now, my daughter is doing amazingly in the modeling world, and I owe it all to them. They prepared my daughter for her acting and modeling. They have been amazing and super supportive. They help us through every step of the process, from the beginning, to training and competing, to in the job market, and who to sign with like with Passport to Discovery and the Indianapolis Barbizon tour.

The staff taught her everything. And then, we went to some of the interviews like Passport to Discovery, the cruise, and for the Indianapolis thing, and they have scholarshipped her because we have 15 children. Then, she won some of the scholarships and paid her way and my way on the cruise. And when we were on the cruise, one of the people who was not her ambassador gave her ideas on her hair and some coaching for her next competition. My daughter did exactly what they said and she did great. We have met with Barbizon one time since then to go to one of their seminars and speak on their behalf because it has been such a success for my daughter.

Their staff is amazing and we love them. They were really sweet and always willing to help. Lily, Jamie and Mercedes still check on him now. We have a competition coming up Friday and we’re constantly in contact with them.

My son was bullied when he was in elementary school. He’s 6’2” at 13, so the bullying came really easy from other kids. He did all of the classes and it changed his outlook on who he was. He definitely came out of his shell. His confidence was completely different and he was more himself. He carries himself so different that it was worth the classes because they gave him a lifetime worth of knowledge. He learned how to walk, how to talk, where to put his fork, where to put his spoon and so forth. Plus, he has made absolutely amazing friends from this journey and I couldn't be happier for him. We sent a picture of my daughter to Barbizon in Phoenix. They called us within a week and set up a one on one meeting. When scheduling this appointment I made sure to ask that there were no costs of any kind with their company. The scheduler assured me that was correct and told me that they were very selective with who they choose to represent their company. We arrived for her one on one interview and there were over 50 people or so called want to be models there that had been told the same thing. These 50 "models" came in all shapes, sizes and looks. It was very clear that Barbizon took anyone and everyone that showed an interest in their company. I thought I would give it a few minutes and see if my thoughts were correct.

A very obnoxious woman dressed in a ridiculous prom like dress with 3 inch heels came to the stage to address us. I immediately got another bad feeling, but she went on to say that their company never charges for a portfolio and they are not one of those "scam" companies. She loudly stated that modeling has nothing to do with looks and that is why you see people of all looks within the room. Really, modeling has nothing to do with looks? After about 30 very long minutes she told us if they do decide to sign you in their 2 minute one on one interview you have to be trained. That was the moment in which she let us know there were four months of training before they would really decide if they were going to sign you or not.

YES, you have to pay for those four months of training too (around $3000.00)! I immediately knew my thoughts were correct and this was a definite bait and switch company. My 14 year old daughter and I sitting in the second row stood up and walked out immediately! As we were leaving the parking lot another mother and her daughter came walking out with my exact same thoughts. I was thoroughly disgusted with this company and feel bad that they got my daughter's hopes up for no other reason than to prey/profit upon her. SHAME on this company!

Macy is 15 and she's 6'9. So, she's got a very unique look about her. She's got really long and beautiful red hair. Everywhere she goes, people are like, "You should be a model." So, she went home and got herself set up on getting information from Barbizon. When Barbizon had a casting thing in Austin, she went to see if she got picked, and she did. We decided to go ahead and do it because it was something she's been wanting to do for the last three years.

We've had a good interaction with the staff at Barbizon. They kept us very informed in the beginning, and Macy is doing some marketing for them, which is great. I'm glad they called for her to do that. The Barbizon rep Macy was under said she did a really good job. I was happy to hear that 'cause Macy is super quiet and timid, so the fact that she put herself out there and talked to strangers was very encouraging for me to hear. Barbizon has definitely allowed Macy to get herself out there in ways that she probably never would have done, so it was good.

So far, it has been a fairly good experience with Barbizon. When we call in, the people are really nice, so that's been a good part of it as well. Nothing big has happened yet, but we felt that Barbizon helped with her self-esteem, and with the way she carries herself. I'm hoping that Macy starts to see some work from them, but part of that has been that she hasn't actually sent back the necessary steps. They have reached out to us and Macy still needs to give her pictures back into them to try to get on more lists, but we are also working with somebody in California as well, to try to get her some work. So, it has opened some doors.

Barbizon is a good program for girls that are needing a little help with self-confidence and what-not. A lot of different things have been going on with Macy since she finished the program, so we're trying to get through all that right now. And then hopefully, start pursuing some different things a bit more vigorously especially once the holidays get through.

My son always had a knack for acting. When he got on stage for performances at school, he grabbed the microphone and became the emcee of the program just naturally, even in kindergarten and first grade. Where all the other kids were crying and shy, my kid was up there. When he was small, we wanted to develop those talents, but he said no. We pushed him to take dance classes, acting classes and singing classes but he refused everything.

We went to Barbizon’s presentation and we were excited. We thought and talked about it, and we got accepted into it. It was nice that there was a process and it was a good one. There was a whole build-up and it was good for children to not get immediate gratification. They had to wait, think and get excited. After he took Barbizon, he said he needed dance and singing lessons. He also wanted to take some acting classes. I told him it sounded good and that we would arrange it. We love Barbizon and the team that they have, the follow-ups, the phone calls, the reminder, and the encouragement. It’s an amazing company. They have the top management and the top reputation. It could not be a better run company.

The staff is amazing and they are what makes it. The people they are putting up to the face of the customer is where it is all at. When you call, somebody will always get right with you. In some places, you call and it’s like, “This woman is overworked. She has 900 emails before me. She’ll get back with me in three weeks,” but never did I see all that at Barbizon. They have enough staff to handle the needs of their clients, and that was important to me.

My experience has been amazing with Barbizon and every child should go for it. Barbizon is raining down love on the kids and inspiring them to wanna do their best to take care of their health, to make dietary changes and to exercise. Barbizon has developed my child's modeling skills. He knew nothing before, but now, he has learned the right thing for a man. He has also become more confident. He had positive words and energy spoken over him in his life through Barbizon and he believed it. He’s taking it and using it to his full ability. We’re going to the competition and we plan to represent Barbizon forever. We hope that my child will be a good spokesperson/spokesmodel for Barbizon in the future. We’re very thankful to Barbizon for being there and developing my child into the amazing actor/model that he is becoming.

We were in a mall in Bossier City, Louisiana and heard about Barbizon Modeling. It was something my daughter was interested in and she asked if she could do it. I had heard of Barbizon and being one of those inquisitive mothers, I immediately jumped online and did some research. I’m smart enough to know that two people generally leave reviews, people that are very happy and people that are very unhappy. Better Business said that Barbizon Modeling is good. Plus, they are legitimate and have a reputation. I weighed the pros and the cons and gave them a shot.

The enrolling process was seamless. At first, we filled out the little card in the mall and gave it to the people. They were very nice and approachable. We forgot about it for a couple of months and then we had gotten a phone call. We showed up at an event at the Civic Center. My daughter walked and talked with a bunch of other people. We were given some paperwork to fill out, which was straightforward. We filled that out. I had to think back a few years though. She then got enrolled in the classes. The paperwork for all of the events that she has done since then has always been very straightforward and easy. I’ve always chosen to fill out something online if I can since it’s always easier for me. Plus, there’s the 1-800 number. If I have questions, someone is always there to answer.

Parents need to know upfront that it’s going to require time and monetary investment from them. I know why the focus doesn’t go on that initially, but to some parents, that comes more of a surprise than Barbizon intends it to be. My daughter has done several modeling events and gained a lot of confidence. She has always been confident, but she's shy. They taught her to work through that. She also has an agent. We’ve done Passport to Discovery a couple of times. We live in Long Island now and she does photo shoots in New York. We’ve had a very positive and successful Barbizon experience. And I would recommend them.

My younger daughter was 11 and she wanted to be a model, but her problem is that she has the cute little face of an 11-year-old and the height of a 15-year-old. I knew Barbizon's reputation because my sister didn't just model with them, but she also was an instructor for a few years. I saw them in the SouthPark Mall and I thought my daughter would be interested in something like this because I know that they are more of a wholesome reputation and it's not super bloodthirsty or questionable.

I filled out a card and I got a call. As part of the call, I texted a picture of my two daughters at the beach and the woman I talked to asked if my other daughter wanted to model. My older daughter said yes when I asked her so, we went to the audition with both of my daughters and they picked my older daughter, Grace. They said they can't put my younger daughter in child and they can't put her in grown-ups because she was right in the middle of there. So, we went ahead and we went through the training with Grace.

Everyone that I've talked to on the phone has been very polite, courteous, and kind of role modeling what they are expecting out of their models. A lot of them seemed like they are young, like Barbizon is kind of a starter but on to bigger and better things. But I kinda liked that about it because we were not into any serious cutthroat modeling stuff. We were just doing it because we thought it would be fun and she could make some money. About that time, my daughter was 14 years old and she was going through the awkward phase with acne and braces and middle school, but already, she was super confident and had a lot of friends. I was comfortable with her going through a program like Barbizon.

She was learning about modeling, and I had been looking for something to get her feet wet in it simply because I didn't want her going out and doing it on her own. Barbizon is a great way to get your feet wet and learn about modeling. It’s not a guarantee to a modeling career but it's a great way to learn poise and how to carry yourself and how to be confident. If you wanted to start into modeling, it is a good first step to learn how to do all that stuff and then, they kind of set you up nicely to meet other people if they think that you could be successful in modeling.

We finished the classes this summer. She graduated, she went to an open audition, and they picked her to go to their southeast competition. That's where she could meet some actual agencies. So, we're looking forward to doing that next month. It's expensive but if she was gonna jump off and try something like this, we wanted it to be done the right way. So, that's why we went ahead and spent the money. She's done some Barbizon promotable stuff at the mall and earned a little bit of money that way. The experience with Barbizon has been great.

My son came home and told me about Barbizon. He talked off and on about modeling schools before and he really wanted to get started with Barbizon. Getting him signed up felt impersonal. They met in a hotel and there was a whole bunch of other people there. Yet when I interacted with the staff at Barbizon over the phone, the person I spoke with was very nice and kind.

Going through the experience with Barbizon was fine and my son had a great time. He filled out the placement packet and we've only had one possible gig or job session. However, the timing was very last minute, and as a result, he had already put in his work schedule for the week and he can't take other time off. So, that part has been less than satisfactory. He has been done since June and I thought that he could have had more job opportunities, like at least once a month. For the money that we put in, so far we haven't received our returns.

I used to do Barbizon and the program didn’t even help me, they were worried so much about my weight and my looks rather than me actually getting gigs and doing shoots so I left Barbizon, recently I was at Annapolis mall where they were trying to get girls to sign up for a Barbizon scholarship. I told the lady “No I’ve already done Barbizon” and she said “No it’s for a Barbizon scholarship”. We argued a bit and then after I said “No I’m fine” she flipped her braids in my mom's face and said “Ok **”. Barbizon is this really the type of person who is representing you?

I wanted to be a comedic actor or actress and I came across Barbizon on the internet. I applied for it when I was younger and they got back to me when I turned 18. Barbizon was bigger than other companies so I went with them. Getting in was easy and my interaction with their staff was good. But when I was in the internship, I didn’t know those people and they were mean to me. I didn’t know my job description, so I was not doing anything. Then someone told Barbizon that I was trying to get paid for doing nothing and I lost my internship. But no one ever told me what to do, so I was just waiting to know. Other than that, I did the Barbizon competition and I received an agency callback, so we’re talking to each other with the agency. Barbizon's program made me feel better. I already felt like I was good at something that I like to do and now, I’m better at it. I’m recommending them to everybody.

My daughter has always wanted to do something in fashion. So when Barbizon approached her, that gave her the opportunity to try to pursue her dream. Signing her up was exceptionally easy. They did emails, follow-up phone calls, and everything to make sure there was a smooth transition on her first day. Even up to her graduation as well. I always spoke to the staff and they always spoke with me and asked me if I had questions or concerns when I was picking up or dropping off my daughter. They were always very professional and courteous. They were able to answer all the questions that I had. If they couldn’t answer it, they’d put me in the right department or the right person to speak to immediately.

Since my daughter did the Barbizon program, I’ve seen her holding her shoulder back, holding her head up, and walking straight. Confidence is really in her. They have built the self-esteem and other little characters that I didn’t see before. She’s more outgoing now than she was before. Barbizon is one of the modeling agencies that I would recommend for professional development or for anyone who wants to bring their child into the industry.

When we were in the mall, we filled in some flyer and Barbizon called us. In the selection process, they were saying that the program was good for the personality development of our daughter and that eventually, she would get to public speaking and her nervousness would be gone. But my daughter attended all the classes and the only thing she came to learn was how to do makeup. It was a waste of money with them and I don’t know why we spent $2,500.

Barbizon's reps were also saying something about placements and that they would connect us to the agents. And we thought they would take care of everything and at least our daughter would do some modeling, but she never got anything. We were under an impression that because she is good looking and she’s different from other kids in our community, Barbizon would help her. She's interested in acting and modeling but her desire was never fulfilled. Also, when she went for one audition, they said that she was selected but in order to come to Florida, we'd have to pay 1,000 again. It was like they are collecting money for nothing. All in all, I'm very dissatisfied with Barbizon and going with them is one of the worst experiences in my life.

My daughter wanted to pursue modeling or acting and my husband and I wanted to give her the opportunity. After hearing an individual who spoke at an event when her father was in the military, we thought of giving it a try and see how it turns out. Signing up my daughter in the program was easy. Their staff was very courteous and it was easy to talk to them and doing follow-ups.

Barbizon reached out to my daughter to get her a job, as far as speaking out and engaging at the local mall. However, it can be a bit more aggressive with helping her get out there and being seen doing a little more. Moreover, they have to improve in helping people who are interested and pushing the kids a little more, as well as learning from some of the seminars when we went on the Passport to Discovery, as far as what the agents and the management industries want from parents and don’t want from parents. Barbizon still has a little way to go with the amount of money that we invest in our kids to be in the industry.

Barbizon was the first one that she has gotten information from and we liked what we heard from them. Enrolling in Barbizon was very easy. We were very impressed with the professionalism of the people at Barbizon. My daughter had to miss a couple of classes and made them up due to a school commitment and the Barbizon staff was very helpful about that. They worked with us and tried to help us make sure that my daughter could take the class again at the time that is workable for our schedule. They also always recognized her name and I was very impressed with that, with the number of kids that they see on a regular basis.

My daughter did the six-months initial training classes. And then, she is going to pass ports and we’re actually leaving on Sunday. The Barbizon Modeling program was definitely giving her a goal to work for, and it gave her some clarity into her future plans. We are a little surprised and a little disappointed that she completed her classes back in May and we still haven’t really gotten involved with the modeling or acting aspects. But we’re hopeful that maybe she can get some exposure and maybe start making some of those dreams a reality.

We went to a mall and Barbizon was advertising. There were kids filling up cards and my daughter went up and filled one of those. It was super easy to sign up with them. My daughter got up and was a volunteer for a couple of things. Then, one of their reps took my daughter aside and called us to her table. She talked to both of us and said my daughter would make a good athletic wear-type model. She gave us a scholarship for it and my daughter started going.

My daughter is all done now. She did one that was right here in Utah and it was for acting, modeling, and athletic modeling. But I have not seen any change in her at all and I am kind of sorry we went the modeling direction. It has really caused my daughter to be more critical of herself and it has caused her to compare herself to everyone out there. She always came home feeling like she wasn’t as good as someone else or someone did this better. She’s only 5’3” and they really led us on to believe that she would be a model, but when she got towards the end of the class, they said my daughter has to be at least 5’4” to 5’7. 5’9” is the height they were looking for and even for a sports model, one needs to be taller. We were really misled because now my daughter hasn’t gotten anything.

Personality development is something new for my child. She wasn't really totally interested in it but she wanted to try it out, and when she started with Barbizon Modeling & Acting classes, she liked it. She was a very shy kid but she's been more outgoing when she started going to the classes and doing what they do. It helped her really come out of her shell and now, she's not afraid to talk to other people. She has always liked having her picture taken but now, instead of standing or posing awkwardly, her model brain would kick in and would do what she needed to do with how she sits, what to do with her face and head just like what she did recently when she had her school pictures done. The photographer even said she was good.

Signing up with Barbizon was very easy. My daughter loved all of her instructors and office staff. We were on the monthly pay system. There were a couple of times that payment didn’t go through, but they worked with us. They had no issue with having us pay a couple days later than what the actual payments were due. If someone would ask me about Barbizon, I'd tell them that it is worth the money. It is a little more on the expensive side, but the cost is worth it.

Growing up, I did not have any confidence because of how I was raised. I was not very photogenic and did not care about myself in general. Then I spoke to my friend Kylie about modeling. She told me how it helped her improve. I thought that the experience could do the same for me. She told me to search Barbizon up and how much she enjoys it. I pushed through with Barbizon because of the environment. The lady who presented it to me made it very comfortable and seem more secure. Signing up was also easy. I put in my information and was there on time. I did the classes and now, I am doing the internship for them. I won a spot for the Discovery but I couldn’t afford the whole trip. But they allowed me to start paying for the competition in December instead.

My teacher was really nice and I liked her because she was not the type that you could run around. Unlike the first teacher we had, she took control when other kids were being distractions during the class. I love to learn and I learned way more with her. Also, I had stage fright and she made it very comfortable and easier to be on stage. The best part was they showed me how to take my pictures and my angles. I’m much more photogenic and more comfortable since I was with Barbizon. My poise and manners are also now both more lady-like than they were when I first started. I would recommend Barbizon. Kylie has always been interested in acting. That has been her passion for the last three to four years and so we thought we'd go and check out Barbizon. It sounded like a good opportunity. It was not for the personal development side of it because she doesn’t have an issue there but the exposure from a standpoint of seeing about getting in front of some acting agencies and modeling agencies. After I heard of Barbizon, I checked out a few other ones. For the most part, there were good feedback about Barbizon so we went with them. It was easy to sign up but it was a lot of money I had to fork over. Even so, the interaction with the staff was good.

Kylie was chosen to go on the Passport to Discovery but because of the cost of it, we weren't able to do that. They told us that we could participate in the one in Dallas, which was much cheaper so that’s what we chose to do there. We had corresponded back and forth once we got closer to that event but since then, we heard nothing. And when she finished her classes, we didn’t hear anything either. I've been disappointed in that aspect because they told us that they would sign her up in the database and that she should be getting some calls. The only call that we've received is one phone call, and this was about a week after her show in Dallas, and it was to work at a kiosk in a mall for Barbizon and that was it.

It was a lot of money to give to not have any representation at all. They should be actively trying to put their graduates in front of agents. And I've come to find out that Dallas and Fort Worth is a large market and there's a lot of need for local modeling and acting but Kylie hasn’t been contacted at all. She actually did well in the competition in Dallas. She got honorable mention out of her entire group. So it was not like she doesn’t have somewhat of a talent at least to go to an audition. She has been doing some work on her own from the agents that she got callbacks from at the competition, but that had nothing to do with Barbizon. That was all outside agents that had come to that show.

Also, Kylie said she didn’t learn a ton from Barbizon in the classes. She's in theater at school and she said the things she has learned from Barbizon were everything she has also learned in theater. I would tell others to save their money and go take some photos of their child, and I would show them how to do it because we had to do it on our own. They should also start sending their child out to agents themselves with a little bio. But if others don’t know how to put on makeup, Barbizon may help them a bit.

We got involved with them when my daughter Elena signed up for more information at their booth at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, Illinois. She took their base level modeling class and there were six different classes that were part of the class roster. So far, she has signed on with a modeling group out of Chicago and she is currently working with them on getting a portfolio put together. She's also working for Barbizon currently this summer. They also reached out to us to see if Elena would be interested in working with them or for them as an instructor.

I found my experience with Barbizon to be positive. Anytime that I've called with any questions or concerns they’ve always been able to answer my questions quickly and in a positive manner. I also very much appreciated them organizing the first open call that they did this past summer. I felt my daughter really gained a lot from that experience and she really enjoyed going to eight open calls. It was really cool. She did some online stuff like sent in photos and things like that but never really did much in the way of actually showing up in person to the open calls. So for Barbizon to organize that was a big service to the people who were graduating from their coursework. They also had an actual Barbizon rep that met the models, arranged the interview for them and escorted them into the modeling agency. That was great as well.

Recently, Barbizon has also been a lot better about getting information to us concerning different job opportunities. But they should do even more at promoting the open calls. I also feel that the actual course that the girls took could better prepare the girls who wanted to go into modeling more. There was information that should have been shared with the models to prepare them for open calls and for actually signing on with the modeling agency because I know there were things my daughter didn't know how to do when she went to meet with the agency and sign on with them.

Also, it was the simple things. For instance, the agency that my daughter signed on to wanted her to bring all of her clothes to her first photoshoot in a garment bag on hangers. But instead she had them packed in a duffel bag. The guy there told her that he wanted all of the stuff hung up in a garment bag and asked why didn't she do that and why didn't she know about that. It was her first time ever going in! That would be very easily talked about within a class.

The other thing too was that this modeling agency wants her to put together outfits and certain clothing items to bring to the shoot and that’s the kind of stuff that Barbizon should be a little bit more aggressive in dealing with. A whole class should have been done on how to prep yourself before going to a shoot. I kept asking her “Well, didn’t you study this in your classes?” She told me they did not. That should have been addressed in the classes that she took. Despite this, I would still definitely recommend Barbizon.

A couple of friends have heard about Barbizon Modeling and we saw some advertisements that they were gonna be in the area doing a six-month training. My daughter is 12 and is very active in the church and does the drama team. She sings and she pretends to be a model. I wanted to really get her into Barbizon Modeling and I knew that it would be a great opportunity for her to meet a lot of other people without it being with mom, so it's a socialization portion of it that I really enjoy. I modeled years ago, although I didn’t model with Barbizon, but I heard of their reputation back then and it was a great reputation. I had also heard that Barbizon has been doing way more than just modeling and I had heard some good reviews from mothers who had had their children in Barbizon, so we went with them.

Signing up with Barbizon was very easy and I enjoyed the process. Brooke was very instrumental and we fell in love with her. She was amazing and some of the other ladies were very hands-on and they ensured that we understood everything. We received phone calls back from them on a regular basis to make sure there were no questions. I also received emails on a regular basis so that if I forgot something, I can go right back to the emails. It had all of the information and it continued to remind us to give them a call if we have any additional questions, and we could do that at any time.

My daughter had blossomed even further than when we were doing it on our own or with her being in church. Her confidence is already high, but Barbizon boosted it significantly because getting on the catwalk, being in front of other people, and actually performing in where you're knowing you're being judged really relaxed her to the point where she doesn’t mind getting in front of people. The fear and the nervousness that come over all of us were really less stressful for her. Since then, she has done a lot of performing at church and singing. Also, she has really helped encourage other young ladies to get involved in something.

There was a major competition on the 8th of June that just happened in the Alexandria area and my daughter had an amazing time. They had some of our Barbizon representatives there that she remembered and knew, and the environment was wonderful. It was the two-day weekend big competition that we paid for and it was in preparation for the cruise that’s coming up. She enjoyed it.

Barbizon's program is extremely encouraging to the families. I have a church member whose son signed up with Barbizon and was in some commercials. The excellent part is this last competition, my daughter received five callbacks and this Sunday, she’s going to sit down with one of the agents who called her back. We're excited and we know that we can give a callback to Barbizon to make sure before we sign anything or before we do anything else, that we can get clear guidance. That’s the comfort that I have with Barbizon. They make sure that we understand that we don’t step out and do something that is not gonna be a wise decision. We are completely sold on the program and on the ladies that are involved in. We are really happy to be a part of the family. I would highly recommend them.

Barbizon seems like a very good organization and we’ve been very pleased with them. They're very straightforward and honest. They're very encouraging but not pushy, which is nice. They don't make you do something that you may not really wanna do. Enrolling with them went well but the presentation was a little on the long side. I understood the reasoning behind it though. There were over 300 contestants that were there to be seen by everybody.

My daughter really enjoyed Barbizon's classes. Now, she's also a little more aware of what she wears, how she presents herself and what other people think of her. She was pretty sloppy before, wearing her brother’s shorts and old T-shirts when she would go places. Now, she dresses up a little bit more. She's also getting ready for her competition at the end of July.

My daughter has had a desire to do modeling from a young age and she was involved in so many other things, so we limited it first to a few things because of expense. When she said that she would be dedicated to modeling and that this was one of the things that she wanted to continue doing in life, we decided to let her go on the adventure and see how it turned out. She had a choice of three schools and she ultimately decided with Barbizon because of the classes that they offered. Some of the other modeling agencies that we were contacted by did not offer classes. The process of signing her up was very easy. When we contact Barbizon to ask questions or inquire into opportunities, we get an immediate response back and they’re very cooperative. There are other times though that it takes multiple emails to them before we receive a response back. Then the response sometimes is not clear or does not answer our question.

My daughter did the eight classes that Barbizon offered here locally and then she went in getting prepared to go on Passport to Discovery. The Barbizon program has increased her self-confidence a little bit. It has helped her to be more dedicated and excel in opportunities to put herself out there, whereas before she would not. Also, a lot of the staff for the classes are very nice. They seem very dedicated and very willing to work with the girls if they ask questions. The tremendous expense kind of discourages me but Barbizon is a great program.

My friend who was sending me castings referred me to Barbizon, and as I wasn't in the process of seeking out different avenues, I went with it and came in for the initial audition. I act and have acted in several things. However, most of it is just based off of my natural ability to act, so I wanted to further sharpen that skill. Although it was a bit pricey, the sign-up process was simple. Their staff at Barbizon is excellent, especially my teacher. Barbizon has definitely helped as I've taken some of the things that I've learned and incorporated them in the gigs that I get now. My instructor did several exercises with us that encouraged us and stretched our ability to improvise, and that's actually something I've been utilizing a lot in the roles that I've been getting. Barbizon was helpful with my personal development as an actor.

My son is really good looking and I love to send him for a modeling program with Barbizon. Signing up with Barbizon was easy, but the money was not. They want him for the acting program because they saw that he got talent. He has a really good memory. When I went down there, I wanted to see how they were doing in the acting class or in walking for modeling class, but we didn't have much time to spend to see. Also, there’s no room for parents to stay late. But I saw that it was really good.

The program was only for six months and now, we're done. Everything was not hard for my son. He was a really quiet kid but after a few weeks, he had a lot of friends. And now, he's working with an agency in New Jersey. He learned a lot and it was a really good experience for him, and we also liked the teachers. But kids are going there for no reason and Barbizon takes in any kid, even if they’re not gonna have a chance to work with an agency. But to me, I really like it. You have one door open which is a step closer to an agency. And from there, it depends on how much you can work.

The whole thing was a good experience and the program has affected my daughter's development well but I wish that there was a little bit more for her to do. We haven't really done a lot with it now that she has finished. Also, we started getting bad vibes about it with the way things have been going so crazily with a lot of stuff. My daughter signed herself up with Barbizon. They were pretty helpful at the beginning because I'm a single mom, so they let her have a scholarship. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to afford it. She enjoyed the experience and gained more knowledge. But I'm a little unhappy right now and there is really nothing that I can do about it. My daughter was chosen to go to the Washington annual thing that they have there. So I agreed to it because I had a couple of people that agreed that they were gonna help me pay for hotel and stuff like that. I paid for $1,200 just for her to get in to meet the agents. But when I contacted Barbizon to let them know that we wouldn't be able to make it down there it was kinda like, "Oh, well, that sucks" attitude. So I'm out $1,200 and it's pretty sad. I'm way too poor to be out $1,200. To me, Barbizon seems more like a finishing class than anything.

My daughter's senior year pictures came out gorgeous and that made me think of modeling and acting classes for her. I chose Barbizon because they did more of the natural beauty. It didn't necessarily have to be a perfect 10 shape and size and it was more about inside as well as the outside. So far all of the staff has been wonderful. There was only one time I had been unhappy and that was when there was a criteria that needed to be met and Jess met all that criteria, but the other girls didn't seem to have to. They were allowed to sit there doing nothing while my daughter, Jess was walking around doing the spokesmodel thing. And also the only other complaint I have is we still have not got her placement package.

We spoke to David of Barbizon and when I was standing there, he put the information in and said it should be coming in the mail because I know there's stuff that she needs to do like contacting agencies. But we haven't gotten the information or it has been misplaced My daughter finished in March and then she has another event in August so I was gonna talk to David and Brooke again then. Our next big thing is coming up in August and then she's doing the Passport to Discovery in October so I'm going to see. The Barbizon staff themselves like David and Brooke and the women that were at classes were wonderful. But it takes a lot of financial support on the parents' end so be prepared to support your child both financially and emotionally.

One of my daughter's friends in school told us about Barbizon and when we went to the place, one of the people that was interviewing said that our daughter had a unique look that she could use in the campaign that they were doing for jobs. So we signed her up. They offered many different options for payments and they explained the training requirements. It was a great experience and the whole enrollment process was really easy. Their staff was very nice, too.

Because of the program, my daughter came out of her shell and became more confident. But there was never any real opportunity for her to earn money, which we thought would happen. The only opportunities that came after the training were more opportunities for us to spend money. So, I felt slightly deceived on that aspect. But I determined with my wife in the beginning that even if a job opportunity didn't come out of it, it would be a good experience for our daughter. I also determined that the money that we'd pay would be worth it just for her to get the training and get exposure to that type of training because of her personality. So all in all, Barbizon offers good training for improving confidence, but no career opportunities.

Barbizon offered my daughter a 50% off after I told them that we weren’t gonna be able to do it since the price was too high. I was very skeptical 'cause I felt like they were promoting themselves as a talent agency and most talent agencies would've not required upfront money. But after we got there, and she had gotten all excited, we found out it was more of a modeling school where they would charge and teach you how to be a model. So it was just a little bit not straightforward initially.

The program was good and it was educational for my daughter. But after we were done, she was under the impression that Barbizon would be sending her out for auditions. That’s what they advertise. She was really disappointed that no one was reaching out to her. That didn't happen until she contacted them several times this summer. Finally, she did, and she got selected for one hair show. And we’re still waiting for the check to come. She also got picked up by a talent agency off of one of the auditions that Barbizon set up for her.

The opportunity of going to Barbizon presented itself. My husband and my daughter went to the initial interview and my husband was the deciding factor. If he liked the school, he liked it but if he didn't, then he wouldn't let us do it. He admired the fact that Barbizon is big on education. He felt personal development was a great opportunity for experience and exposure to other things and career paths. Our daughter took all six classes and completed the program. It gave her a skill that she didn't have before. Personal development assisted with boosting up her confidence, something that we, as parents, already work on with her before and after Barbizon. It helps to add and to advance what she already knows and has.

It was a good program and when I had questions, the staff answered it to the best of their knowledge or they directed me to someone that could answer it. But it was expensive. It's always a couple thousand dollars for these little events that our daughter gets into. I'm not a big fan of that but my husband wants to make the investment so we do what we can do as much as we can. If we feel it isn't worth it or it's not the time, then we don't do it.

My daughter Valerie has always loved fashion and she always loved to sing. But I needed something to bring her personality more out of the shell because she’s a bit shy. So we thought maybe modeling would give her the confidence that she needs. We live in Canada and we’re in Ontario. We’re close to the border to the states and for us, Barbizon in Canada is only in Toronto. But it’s four hours away and they won’t accept anybody who lives so far so they recommend that I get the Barbizon in the States. I called them and they told me they do it in Michigan. And we agreed because for us, a ride to Michigan is just 30 minutes away.

We had two different experiences when we signed up with Barbizon. Valerie’s experience was awesome and she really loved it. She really had fun in all those classes and she prepared for them. I was happy but at the same time, I didn’t know too much about Barbizon and how things worked. We went to two different auditions and I was a bit disappointed because I didn’t know that we had to invest more money to get her to know those agents. She was so happy when she passed the auditions but we couldn’t place her because we couldn’t afford it so it was a bit sad for her. I talked to Barbizon and they told me that if she can do the placements, then we can go from there and see how it goes. But she couldn't make it until we could save a bit more money and then when she had another audition.

Our interaction with the staff at Barbizon was over the phone and we never got too much interaction with the teachers. They were always busy, they take care of the girls and they focus on the classes. But over the phone everything was good. They always gave me the information that I need and when I told them all my questions, they were willing to answer without any problem. The Barbizon Modeling program has made Valerie more confident. Also, she learned a lot more about how to do her hair and dressing and walking proudly to people. Our experience with Barbizon Modeling has been good and I really enjoyed what it brought to Valerie. She would do the commercials and she was good. She was a little bit nervous but she prepared. She was confident to talk in front of those people and the camera so that was good.

It seemed like they didn't really teach her anything useful or good. And every job that they tried to send her on is something we have to pay for and not anything she gets paid for. It was a waste of my money and I don't think that she benefited at all. So, I used other resources that I found myself that we did not pay for and she got paid for and those helped her way better. I wouldn't recommend Barbizon to anybody. Their program is just to take people's money, and I wish that there was a way that I could get back some of the money that I spent on it.

Hi Cyndi, We checked your daughter's account and it appears that she requested and has been sent a placement package. Submitting to any of the agents and managers on the list that was included in the package to gain representation is highly recommended to start working in the industry. Additionally, the school has not yet received back the model card that was the package. Sending this back along with her marketable photos will enroll her to their placement program at no cost which will give her notifications of modeling and acting opportunities in your area. If you have any specific feedback regarding the program your daughter attended and the curriculum, we would greatly appreciate hearing for you as we strive to constantly develop a well-rounded program for modeling, acting and personal development. My daughter Tatiana has always been the girly type and modeling, as well as acting, are things she has always wanted to do. She got the opportunity to do so at Barbizon. We chose them because of their friendly attitude and the way they interacted with individuals. They are very hands on. Christian was the one who always stayed in contact with us. From the beginning, she was the one who would always check up on Tatiana. In fact, even though my daughter has completed her classes I can text her and ask questions and she would still respond. Moreover, they understand the business, so that’s what made me comfortable and not making me feel like I'm just giving money.

Tatiana in the past has had no sympathy and I had to get her out of her shell. But then, when she started with this modeling and acting, it was a whole different side of Tatiana. I've seen her improve and in fact, she recently got chosen to be a contestant for Miss Pre-teen Louisiana. We've been in interviews to see if they can stand up and she is the final contestant for Miss Pre-teen Louisiana. And it was a way to account for her to go up and model the way they had wanted her to model, but just how she modeled, you can tell that she had previous training. Her confidence level was there versus these other kids they’ve chosen before they had no previous training. That was a plus for her and I was grateful for that. She's looking forward because if she wins that title she can go to Anaheim, California Disneyland and compete for Miss Pre-teen USA.

However, my daughter hasn’t had any jobs so far so she’s upset about that. A lot of the jobs when we looked online were mostly not in her age range but she got picked for a passport to Discovery but we didn’t attend that because the expense was too high. But she did get chosen for the Dallas trip and we're attending that. Tatiana is hoping she'll be able to get a scholarship or land some type of agent deal in that way. We were in the shopping mall when we learned about Barbizon. My daughter is extremely shy and I was hoping it would help her to sort of be a little bit more outgoing. She participated in eight sessions where she would go once a month. We signed up and they told us about the fees and what would be the dates and times of it and what types of things they would be learning. The enrollment was a seamless process.

Everybody at Barbizon was nice and helpful. We've gotten calls from Barbizon for two events. The only issue and I'm gonna discuss this with them next time I talked to them is when they send out the notices for the audition, they don’t say what the audition is for. They should put a little bit more information as to what the audition is for. I don’t find that out until I actually get there. It's not a huge deal but just going forward I'll know to probe and ask questions about it.

Since the program my daughter is not as afraid to be in front of people. Barbizon helped her to be a little more confident. With Barbizon the child will learn a lot of different things about the business -- things about etiquette, proper dress and makeup, and different modeling poses. It would be helpful if your child is looking for a career in modeling or acting.

My daughter gave me the puppy doll look and hooked me to sign her up in Barbizon. When I signed up for my daughter, people were talking about who did Barbizon and some of the famous people who made it. Some of them made it and tell you what to expect on payment-wise. And if your daughter or son has been chosen, then they will do a quick interview. Later on, they were chosen.

The staff of Barbizon has been okay. Their program helped my daughter because she’s now out of her shell. She’s now using her modeling skills and what can and can't do. So far, my experience with Barbizon has been okay. My daughter only got called for one event but we didn’t go. It would cost me more trying to attend the event and I was not paying but I was told that we’re supposed to go. So, I got to pay crazy cash on top of cash I already paid. Then, Barbizon calls you for commercials and you go and show up. They choose it for you. And we've been to one gig that Barbizon gave us. Most people mainly were getting to the local events to have their kids on little money and responsibility.

My daughter was already feeling that modeling and acting were what she wanted to do so I wanted her to build some confidence and get a bit more experience in that field. I looked up Barbizon's reviews and they have really good ones, so I was confident that that was where she needed to go. My daughter got a chance to build that experience and she’s a bit more confident in herself and not as shy as she was before she started with Barbizon. Financially, it was difficult because we weren't really prepared, but we made it happen. Also, their staff has been awesome. My daughter graduated back in January so I had to call them a couple of times to receive her certificate. But they were upfront about the process and how that worked, and she received her certificate of completion.

I would like to keep working with Barbizon. My daughter has a modeling competition down in Florida later this year that I'm looking forward to. I know that there are a few things that she can go back to take up and I want her to continue to work with Barbizon. Barbizon Modeling would be the best route to go, especially if the child is shy. My daughter is more vibrant now. I can really tell the difference in her with the modeling since she attended with Barbizon. I would recommend to anyone to take that route.

My daughter was approached by Barbizon in the mall. She was with her sister and I got a phone call a couple of months later, saying that Barbizon was gonna be in the area and asked if my daughter could come in for an interview. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good time at that particular moment, but then, they came back and so my daughter was able to make the second one. She's always the one who wanted to do something with acting. It has been a bug of hers for a while. Not that she has ever done anything with it, but I figured this would give her an opportunity to try it and if it worked, great and if didn't, it was out of her system.

Barbizon was the only acting school we looked at. I did not know anything about it and I had no idea what to expect. Even so, signing up with Barbizon was good. The price knocked me over but everybody was very nice. I got the phone calls when they said they were gonna call me. My daughter went to the classes and didn't miss any. She also did the audition for the cruise and was able to be selected for that so it has been good.

My daughter's confidence level has definitely improved because of the program. She has been a very shy kid but she's doing more in school this year than I would have expected her to do. It has helped her break out of herself. She has just graduated and she sent her paperwork off. We've gotten a couple of emails about jobs but they haven't been a good time for her. We're just very early in the process.

She said her granddaughter did that. She went through Barbizon and it helped her. I started checking into it and got involved with Barbizon. It was a good experience. Their process was easy and the people were very cordial. We had one session with them and then they started the classes. The limited interaction that I had with them was pleasant. The program was okay and very expensive but we wanted to invest this money to hopefully get my daughter out of her shell a little bit. However, my husband and I don't see a whole lot of difference. She's the same kind of person that she was before Barbizon. But she said she liked it and she feels that the program is a little better. So, we'll take her word for it.

The placement information was gonna take about four to six weeks. How can we can't submit that online? That's how information is transmitted nowadays. We no longer use mail. The education part is good but this agency has no credibility and charge thousands of dollars for unnecessary classes. When I attended their seminar I realized no other race besides ** and ** was in the room. It was a lot of young kids under 14 years old some without parents. When I enter the agent room she started to ask 3 times what was my kids' nationality. She touched their hair to confirm texture to see if they was considered ** or ** in my opinion. She played it off by asking if they went to the hair salon giving a complimenting. I gave $1000 for both kids holding a spot under the assumption I have 3 days to cancel but that was a lie. I was targeted because I was ** and young. This was a scam as per the Better Business Bureau.

My daughter is interested in performing music and acting, and while Barbizon represents that they can get you in touch with the right people, all we saw were opportunities to pay $2,000 - $6,000 for a promise of an interview/introduction. First, we spent about $2000 for my daughter to take the class. I was not impressed with the people I dealt with. Nobody was aware of the "deals" we made with our phone representatives, or of payments we had made.

The headquarters is in Florida, and I wondered if they hired a person in our medium-sized town on the West Coast just to set up an operation to collect more people's fees. The class itself was...marginal. The kids did their makeup (with some very cheap makeup provided by Barbizon) and learned to set a table. They might have done a "commercial." I saw some horrible pictures that were taken of my daughter. She missed one of the classes over the summer, and since we don't live in a big city, "there are no make-up classes scheduled at this time." There probably never will be. Daughter can't be recommended for any auditions without having finished all of the classes!

We were called in to "audition" for a chance to go on a Barbizon cruise in the Caribbean, which was to be a huge chance to get in front of talent scouts from all over the globe. Maybe, just maybe my daughter could get picked to go live in South Africa and model for 6 months. (She is in the 9th grade--who would want that??) It turns out that for this opportunity (I would need to go with my daughter, because it's a cruise off Florida), I would need to come up with another $6,000 or more! I still have seen no return on the $2000 from the first class, not to mention buying high heels & clothes, and getting her to all-day-Saturday classes once a month for 6+ months.

The high-pressure sales tactics were astonishing! "We need to know today or you are coming on the cruise with us, or there won't be a spot". The "audition" and the hard-sell phone call occurred over a 2-day period. It was crazy! Then we found out that one of our friends was offered the cruise for 40% of what we were being asked to pay, so we just bagged it. It just doesn't feel like an authentic opportunity. Save your money. If you want your kid to model, just research auditions. You don't have to go through a "talent agency" to get an audition. This is not a creative confidence-building course. It's cheesy.

Our experience today March 11th 2018 was something else, my daughter was walking in the mall with my mother the day before and was approached by someone about Barbizon and to come in early on a Sunday morning, I found out late at night about the whole thing, so I didnt even get a chance to look up any information about the company off hand, and as a parent you want to know what you about to walk into, my mother wasnt aware of things like that and this hasn't been our first time being asked for one of my children to model. Anyhow, we get there to the New York office and it was nice to see a professional place of business and see how well set up everything was, gave me a better feeling than the last few places we have been to in the past, so I had hope after being there for a few hours and I found that each child in there would be a client no matter what, as long as their parent had the money to make it happen that day.

I was hoping that wasn't going to be the case because I didn't want my daughter to feel bad about it if we had to leave. We met with our Agent Jessica. She was nice, better yet she was the Sun, moons and Stars when you meet her, she tells you all you need to hear, want to hear, and makes sure your child is feeling her energy. Then of course the blow, I had to break it to her that I did not have any money down that day but could try and work something out within the week and the Sun went down on that light she had and she was no longer eager as she once was. I pay attention to body language cause of the job I do and it was disappointing to see, when I told her not now she informed me well my daughter would be dropped from her class and she won't work with her, and will not be a priority.

My next question is so if on Tuesday I had the money and I mean the whole $1000 down she asked for on a Sunday out of the $4700 program, without me even getting a chance to look up a company info to make sure it's real, without giving me a chance to think about how to move bills and life around and don't worry about your other kids, or the fact that there is little to no guarantee that my child will even get booked, just more like, "Trust me. Give me the money or your kid will be just another number to me after you walk out the door." It gave me that feeling again that this can't be good. Even after telling her my son had spine surgery which is really why I was tight with money (It was a good thing I was. She would have got me for it) because I was out of work for 3 months caring for him and my other kids.

She didn't even flinch at any remorse of the situation, and even if you don't have kids as a women you care just a little when you hear something like that, nope she's like, "Well do you have a credit card on you." It was funny to me that she stated that she would text me on a Tuesday cause she doesn't like to talk on the phone, now I am supposed to give you my money and I don't get to talk to you, I will get a text from you and if I was to come up with this money someone if not her would let me know who I would be dealing with but it won't be her. Now tell me why again should I be eager to get this money to her when she is no longer interested in my child because I don't have money in her hand today? That left a Bad taste in my mouth if you ask me. Where would it be going and who will my child be working with if we had the money? She said she didn't know. They would tell me if I decided to come back with money.

At the end, my 11 year old daughter caught what I saw at the end of our meeting, she said, "Mommy she didn't even get up and walk us to the door." I said, "I know." She stated, "I guess if you gave her the money she asked for she would have at least walked us to the elevator." Yeah I know. Thanks Barbizon. I hope this was not an overall way things are done but I really wanted to believe that we would be working with you guys with my kids. Today was not a best example of that. Maybe a different approach when it comes to the details of the money. That way nobody waste time in the whole ordeal, and people want to know they can trust you cause I can't tell what make you different from the other out there.

She took all of her classes, and we went to the Orlando competition. It was an easy sign-up process and the staff is friendly.

But we just went through a difficult time on papers being sent and we didn’t receive some stuff. We’ve been playing phone tag this past couple of days. The people are great. It’s just that we're not getting a call back from certain people. I paid for the trip and we’ve already invested a lot of money. Now, I’m not hearing back from anybody. It was in October. And we haven't heard anything from them until now. We’ve done everything we were told do to. We sent our thank you's. I’m not a professional in this at all. This is all new to me as well. I asked other parents how this should go or that should go, and everybody else would turn back.

The program was absolutely wonderful. My child finished her classes and had done everything she needed to do. She is more confident and she learned a lot. She’s very happy with it. I am as well. I’d recommend them to anybody. It’s a great thing for the child to do. It’s just the miscommunication or lack of communication right now.

Her sponsor let us know if she was prepared to the class and if she had any questions and reminded her about her next class and what she needed to prepare for. She has finished her classes and has learned a lot but we haven't been able to look for more things about modeling and acts because she has been doing a lot of stuff. But we went to one interviewer in New York where they gave her a small paragraph that she has to learn real fast and act like any type of actress that they prefer. They ended up choosing somebody else but it was a nice experience and it was fun for us. She could see how that industry moved.

I liked the program because she’s more confident with her personality. Whenever she has to do a presentation at school, that’s really good. And she knows much better to take care of her makeup and her hair. I would have liked that they could have interacted more with her because it was just a one-month thing. But they were really clear with us about it if she can go ahead and retake one class. It was a really amazing experience. And I think it’s a good experience for any type of teenager to go through with so they can get more confident and comfortable with who they are.

It helps them a lot in different aspects, especially to look for their inner person and what they want. Kids are always looking to be someone else and if they are going through these classes, they get to know their own person and classic things that you don’t teach your kids every day. Whoever asks me, I always tell them it was an amazing experience and if they have the budget to do it, why not.

It definitely helps and it’s great, especially for beginners. We don’t know how far it will take us, but hopefully, we’ll get something out of it. Sarah is very mature for 11. And I guess it exposed her. She has never done runway, and she didn’t know how to apply some of them, so it did give her some application.

Barbizon has been our first dabble in the performing arts and the signup experience was good. It was encouraging and very positive. It gave us a lot of hope. My daughter Natalie is a little more on the curvy side and I wanted her to feel good about herself. I was trying to give her self-confidence but the program had the opposite effect. It became very much a comparison of herself to other girls and it wasn’t so evident up to the class.

She took the entire six months’ training with them and that was great. Then she participated in the Eighth Annual Bella’s Competition. She came back with two callbacks and I thought it was great. Somebody noticed her. But she looked at it from another perspective, “Yes. But look at the skinny, tall girl next to me. She got 20.” In the end, for her, it was almost like, “This isn't for me because I’m not the tall, skinny girl.”

It’s a good program but they need to be a little bit more grounded in setting the expectations. They say anybody can make it and show a picture of a curvy girl who is making it as a plus model. But that’s 1% of the business. It’s more about understanding what the industry is really about and who has that higher chance of success. They’re all super nice women but my daughter is not a fit for the program and I really wish they were more honest about that. It’s also a lot of money to be spending and then we spent it and realized the chances are slim.

That may just be part of her teenage thing though. Other than that, my experience with them was pleasant but I would wait until we find something that she can do local.

My daughter was in one of the pageants and after doing that, she had a choice between doing that again or looking at modeling, which was something that she wanted to do. She got an invitation to go to one of Barbizon’s orientations and our interaction with the staff was all good. Signing her up was pretty easy. The only frustrating experience was that she wasn’t able to start right away. So she ended up having to finish that class later, which then somehow confused the folks that were getting us all set up for our stuff. She had already graduated but somehow we all got invited back to the initial orientation. We thought it was something different because we didn’t think they would send us back to that. And of course, we couldn’t say anything until the end. So that was a little frustrating. But otherwise, everything else has gone rather smoothly. Barbizon’s modeling program made my daughter a lot more confident.

I have another daughter whom I wanted to do some personal development work with because she seemed to need it. She’s grown up now, and partially due to the family circumstances and divorce, she could have used some other kind of help. She’s gone about her own way of getting some of that information that we would have gotten from classes at Barbizon. Due to that experience, maybe it would be beneficial for my other daughter for her to get it. She was looking into doing some sort of modeling like runway work. She’s interested in doing that for money, for her college. She likes the classes at Barbizon Modeling although she was a bit critical of the classes because she didn't feel she was really learning anything.

Barbizon have models in the class. I’m assuming there’s some sort of information my daughter could have gained from listening to them. But I haven't seen much more than that. They mentioned something about getting people positions after the classes. The work aspect that my daughter was most interested in is going to the malls and advocating for Barbizon and whatever partner organization they team with, and putting people in the malls to stimulate more business for them. I haven’t seen anything like “Modeling, Modeling”.

The staff at Barbizon are very nice people and very respectful, and they treated us fairly. The only difficult thing about Barbizon was they found my daughter’s house way too distant from any city and it was difficult to get to them. The only modeling jobs that are available are located in malls. One was too far for her to drive to make it worth the cost. The job is advocating modeling, which they need to do, but that’s the only job they ever have called us on. They also said they'll send out a package from modeling.

After you finish the modeling school, there’s a free option to get you on to the mix of going to modeling and send you the package, and you can sign up. If they see a job that comes up available that your daughter fits, they’ll send you some information to see if they want to take advantage of it. But the only thing to take advantage that they mentioned to us or have done through the program was to go to the mall and sit there, and talk to people about modeling and try to get them to sign up. There hasn’t been any sort of runway and magazine.

I would expect something more other than, "We need someone to sit in a chair at the mall." It’s a minimum wage and it is an experience. I’ve done models before and their positions were more than just sitting in a mall and trying to get people to go to this school. The program cost $2,600 and I haven’t seen any products from the class that helped her create something or helped her learn something, although there are some benefits.

My Beautiful 13 year old daughter was approached by Barbizon at a mall. We attended the presentation, which was an hour of a Korean American corporate spokeswoman telling us irrelevant personal information about herself. When she finally cut to the chase she revealed that it would cost $2500 to attend modeling school. If that wasn't bad enough once I read the requirements for this "education" I told my daughter we were leaving. It is truly shameful to impose archaic gender roles on our children. Girls are expected to wear dresses and high heels, boys slacks and dress shirts. It's 2018 for heaven's sake!!! Kids should be encouraged to be themselves, and not forced to abide by what society thinks a girl should look like. My daughter has short hair and my son has hair to his waist. Barbizon is the same "charm" school it was back in the 80's.

Hi Glenda, We are sorry to hear that you were not able to speak with a talent director at the audition you attended so they could address some of your concerns regarding the curriculum. In addition to modeling and acting, Barbizon's core focus remains on personal development and confidence building. While some locations do implement a dress code, all Barbizon locations encourage students and graduates to be the best version of themselves so that they will be better equipped to find success in modeling, acting or any other professional field. If you have specific questions about the program in your area, your local school would be happy to address any concerns you may have.

My daughter was out at a mall and Barbizon Modeling saw her. I went with what my daughter was looking for and some of the things that she wanted to accomplish. We were supporting her dream. My daughter's very quiet but she's always been bold. If she was in a room, you would not know she was there. But when it comes to speaking or doing things, it's like she turns into somebody else. I felt like if she had the training to give her that extra confidence, she would be great. This program did that for her. It boosted her confidence and gave her an idea of what she wants to do.

We had a couple of tragic things happen. My daughter lost her grandfather while she was going to school and I appreciated how they supported her and us as a whole. They were truly concerned about her and took the time outside of class to make sure that she was okay, as well as to work with her on anything that she missed. It was like she never skipped a beat. They did a good job though I wish that some of the information at the end came a little quicker. Other than that, it was a really good opportunity and I'd recommend them to a friend.

Our experience with Barbizon Modeling was okay. We were walking through some mall and our child saw it on the kiosk. Signing up was very easy and as long as you have the money, you’re in. She filled out some sort of form at the mall and mailed it in, and surprisingly enough, they called and responded to it and we decided to give it a try. The staff was very pleasant and very personable. Our child went through the classes and she enjoyed it. She no longer works with Barbizon. We decided not to continue because after paying a few times, it was just a never-ending bank. But she felt very confident at that time in terms of personal development skills. We found out later Barbizon Modeling had been in business for a very long time and they’re very reputable. They’re good and I would recommend it to a friend.

My daughter was interested in personal development for a while and she filled out a questionnaire when she was walking around the mall. Then Barbizon Modeling called me back, requesting for her to come see the initial audition. Once we did that, she decided she was interested and we went forward with it. Their staff was good, friendly, knowledgeable and usually answered any questions that I had. I got my daughter’s placement card in the mail and I have not turned that in yet. I need to do that, get with somebody and talk to them again. But they’ve always been really good whenever I call or talk to them in person.

My daughter participated in both modeling and acting. She took classes at the Hampton Inn in Mesquite near the Rodeo and she completed all of them. Then she went to another audition that they held for the competition in Dallas and she got 26 callbacks at that. Unfortunately, we have not gone forward with signing any contract yet because we’ve talked to a few agents and we’re trying to straighten out what we're going to do. She also won the free photography shoot from the competition. I’ve been back and forth in communication with the photo director and we're still trying to wait for that to get scheduled. It’s been about two and a half months and they haven’t scheduled it yet. We’re hoping to get those pictures done so we can give those to the agents. Once we get that done, we might sign with somebody. I'm leaning towards the Beasley Talent Agency because I've talked and met with them.

Barbizon Modeling helped my daughter's personal development a little bit. She’s always been very confident, very outgoing and a social kind of person. Before we started doing the program, her grades had improved and it helped her to want to stay making good grades and being involved in stuff. She's also been talking about being interested in doing community theater to get some more experience. She enjoyed the competition and the classes she went to with Barbizon. Her time with them was very informative and very fun.

Signing up was easy and the staff did really well at answering the questions and everything that we had. They were very friendly and helpful and as far as customer service, everything was good. They did a lot however it cost a lot of money and the price could be improved.

We signed up for the modeling and acting program. We did the January, six-month classes that they had here in Atlanta. We went to one of those from January to June and now my daughter’s going to be a part of the Atlanta competition this December. She has always been a child that’s not shy so I hear a lot of people say, “Oh, well, it helped her come out of her shyness.” She’s never been shy but it has fine-tuned her skills as far as being more together and more organized because we’ve worked to put several things together as she's been selected for mixed media in Girl Scouts here where she’ll be a representative for Girl Scouts. They’ll be doing television ads so it helped her to memorize things and come out and be a little more confident in those abilities. It’s been a learning experience.

Our daughter did summer classes at Barbizon Modeling twice a month for over a five-month period. Their reps were good and my daughter really enjoyed the classes and the instructors. With her acting and modeling skills, she has been going out more for participation and plays stuff at school. She looks at her appearance a lot more, especially with the makeup. She has a sister who’s heavy into makeup and they talk all the time. She got invited to an event but couldn’t make it, though, and she hasn’t been called for anything else afterward. So, if there’s something that we need to do, somebody should initiate the opportunities that may come up, whether it’s acting or modeling or whatever the case may be. We’d still recommend it to a friend but we want to see the opportunity given to my daughter to be able to advance on what she's learned.

We found Barbizon one day and my daughter had an interest in modeling and acting so we thought that it was an opportunity for her to explore a little bit. We were invited out to a general session that talked about the company itself and they were very informative. They told us what to expect from each student and what to expect financially. They also told us about the classes that were coming up and where they will be held. The system was well oiled and everything was smoothly done.

We presented a profile photo and my daughter went to the personal development classes for six months. The classes were once a month and the follow-up before every class was great. Someone contacted us through email and sent an alert that the next class was coming and what that class would hold. We also did the Barbizon show that was in Dallas last August. It was her first experience and she did really well and enjoyed her time there. She was part of one of the younger groups so she still has a lot of development to do. But overall, it was good for her to get a glimpse of what it would take for that industry. The personal development in the area of things like makeup and taking care of their skin, are not really just for modeling but for everyday life and those skills were very good for her.

The process and the model that Barbizon has is really good. But during the events where they have the shows and the agents come in to look, they should not have so many students attending because although we get callbacks, there were so many and afterwards the lines were so long. So after being there all day starting at 7:30 that morning, the parents and the kids were exhausted. They should also provide more time for the agents to get a chance to meet the students one on one.

Aside from that, in the introduction, they said they needed models for all sizes so they don't look at the size but at helping the individual. However, they should make sure that it is someone who is marketable and can work in the industry because individuals are investing in that and they want to have a positive outcome. When they accept everyone coming, it's like they were there for the money and not for the personal development and the idea that this person has at least a shot at it. In a conversation I had with another parent, they got invited to the event even though the closest modeling agency to them, among those that were there that day, may have been two states away. So it's unlikely that the child would get into any agency other than picking up and moving. I would recommend Barbizon but I would also provide advice because I know that everything is a business.

My daughter, Winter, was at the mall and saw a group of Barbizon girls. She assumed it was for modeling, and since she has always had an interest in it, she thought it would be nice to look at and work towards. Barbizon was the first chance she had truly seen that she could be in modeling and signing up for the classes was quite an easy process. It was just filling the form out and it only took her a couple of minutes. The staff was very nice and even when she walked into that first class, they seemed very friendly. There were classes that encompassed the areas of modeling and acting that she went through for six months, and then she went to the Dallas competition. From the classes, she learned a bit more poise and self-confidence. Everything they did was amazing and she really enjoyed the experience and the people there. They were professional, kind and serious, but they’ll make you smile. Barbizon is very educational and will teach you a lot.

We were at a mall in Jonesboro, Arkansas when people from Barbizon Modeling stopped the girls. The girls then filled out a card and we got a call to go to Memphis and do an interview. I didn't know anything about Barbizon then and we had to do some research to find out about the company and if it was a legitimate thing. Once we got there, we saw everybody and how things were done and we found out that the company was really good and that it has been around for a long time. They asked if the kids had any modeling experience and I told them that they modeled for Dillard's and Belk. They then told me that they need to go to modeling classes so that they can learn the names of the walks and different things like that.

Barbizon's staff has been really nice. I’ve had to call different times because I didn’t understand or was unsure about something and they answered my questions. They also treat my kids like as one of their own. I like how they stand with the kids until the parents are there to pick them up after classes and jobs. They don't just let them go and run around. That makes the parent feel safe. The kids enjoyed themselves and learned so much in the modeling classes they took through the whole school year and part of the summer. I have one kid who's really shy and she broke out of her shell. She excelled and I'm proud of how she's changed.

My oldest is not afraid to stand up and talk in class. How much they have learned is amazing to me. After the classes, we got the placement package in the mail. We have filled that out and turned it in. Before we got that done, they called to give the kids their first job, which was to go back to Memphis and work in a mall to get people to sign up for Barbizon. For three days they did that, and they like it and enjoyed doing it. It’s a wonderful opportunity and a really great program. We had a great experience.

Their staff was awesome but it would have been less intimidating had everyone been separated into groups instead of having just one auditorium or room. My son has ADD so it was a little overwhelming for him, but he did well despite that. He walked and entertained the idea of being with the group because not everybody feels comfortable in a crowd. As a result, his shyness and some of his insecurities have dissipated. He is more outgoing and more outspoken. He feels more comfortable speaking to people and it's built his confidence up. It was an enlightening experience.

I first heard about Barbizon Modeling at the mall and I thought it was for scholarships and grants when I signed up. Then it took them six months to call me and I forgot about it, and then my daughter Elizabeth did six months of classes once a month with them. Her classes consisted of learning how to walk properly, how to put on makeup and how to present herself. She was dressed up on different days and we had to put clothing which I provided, and they told us what she needed to wear, like a certain color one month or a fancy dress or three different outfits to change into. I thought I was going to get pictures of her and the pictures they took of her because they were going to have a professional photo shoot, but they didn’t do that. Instead, they used her cellphone to take pictures of them and the photos they gave me were tiny, so I was disappointed.

The people that ran Barbizon were great but it’s a little slow after the classes are done. Elizabeth has graduated since July but she has not gotten anywhere. They said, “We do scholarships and grants for the younger ones if you like the program and then if we like you as a family”. When I asked about it, they said they give half the price, but I don’t want to pay another $1,000 to put my other daughter in. I had that message in what came in the mail two weeks ago and I had to fill out a card with information on my address and different things. They gave me that in July and it was for them and for me, and they give this card out to the agents who then start calling you.

Barbizon promised Elizabeth that she would get jobs and when they graduated her, they made it sound like it was going to happen in a few weeks, but it never did. I hadn’t seen her certificate so we had to call them because I paid $2,000 for them to do something more. It was miscommunication. Elizabeth is 14 and she was excited but it’s losing this phase, now that school has started. I wanted to start it right away because summer would have been perfect. It’s a little harder for me to get her to do jobs, but at least she could take more classes if she wants to. I was hoping the classes would give her more self-esteem, confidence, and it’s basically the same. She’s a teenager and that’s what I was hoping for and that’s why I did it, but I probably wouldn’t tell anybody else about Barbizon because of the experience afterward.

Modeling has been something my son wanted to pursue since he was little. I heard of some good news about Barbizon and I thought what they delivered was pretty good. Everybody from Barbizon was very helpful. Every time I’d call, I got an answer. If I didn’t get an answer, I was able to leave a message and they were able to call me right back. So, every step of it was easy.

However, they don’t tell you until after you’re there, in front of all those people, that they we want to pick you and tell you the cost. I didn’t like that at all because you get the kid very excited for something. They know that they were being picked. It's okay if it's something that’s done between the parents, but the kid is excited that he got picked and then I have to let him down because I don’t have the money. That was the only reason I wish I would’ve shopped around for something else. But Barbizon was able to help me out so I’m glad I chose them.
