Barbizon has been great. The staff has been super nice. Both of the girls were good, but we can only afford one at the time and the staff were super nice in turning the other one down so I didn’t have to be the bad guy and didn't crush her spirits. Sometimes my kids felt there were older kids in there and them being young, they were only 10, so the range on some of the understandings was a bit different. But all in all, they liked it. It helped with their confidence and speaking.

I did some research on Barbizon and it's been around for over 80 years and they've had a lot of good reviews. They have their bad reviews, but the good outweighs the bad. I know a couple of people personally that went there and it was a great experience. My daughter said she would wanna learn how to be a model and learn into acting. So, we decided to go with Barbizon.
The Barbizon staff was great. If I had any questions, I just had to email or call, leave a voicemail, and somebody would get back to me immediately with an answer. It was a great process. It was easy. Any time I had any issues, all I had to do was call and they would be resolved immediately or taken care of or answered. So, it was a very good experience. There was no lagging in communication. The teachers always kept us up to date on everything. My daughter absolutely loved that she met some lifelong friends there. She got an experience that she wanted. So, Barbizon was a good choice.
We still haven't finished the program. She's supposed to go through the online thing and we haven't done that yet. She's been so busy with school. My daughter loves it. She learned a lot about what she needs to do to put herself out there. It gave her a lot of confidence. It really boosted her confidence going to that school and learning a lot about herself and her peers and what it takes to be in the industry.

I came across Barbizon many years ago and I had a couple of girlfriends that went to Barbizon. When I read into it a little more, I felt that some of the things that they were teaching would be good for my grandson. So we went ahead and signed him up since he's so handsome. Everything was good. The staff were there, friendly, smiling, and ready to take the kids in as well as to get rid of them when they're done. My grandson was a newbie, and everything was a learning experience. Most of the time, he was excited and glad getting to do things, fixing his hair and putting fingernail polish on. A couple of times it was, "It was really boring."

My daughter would like to be more active in the journey towards becoming a model or an actress. When she went through the classes at Barbizon, they were doing one Saturday a month. But eight hours is not enough to learn what she needs. They can't do it once a month and expect her to hold on and retain that. Workshop needs to be more intense and longer so that she can repeat what she's learned and gain confidence. With practice comes perfection. Her having a little bit more confidence in what she's doing and becoming well versed in what's expected in the walking, the language, the body language, the monologue, it would become second nature the more she does it. I wish our daughter would receive a little bit more support. Because Barbizon is reaching out to such a large number of young ladies, they can't put in that one-on-one. We have to do that through drama classes or modeling support on our own, locally.
We went right into a competition that was virtual. My daughter was selected and I appreciate that, but she doesn't show up for the competition until June. From now until June, again, we're back to doing virtual meetings. I wish our daughter would have received more that gives her the assurance that she is on the right path for the amount of money that we have paid.

My daughter loves Barbizon, and we're looking forward to keep going. My husband and I tried to reach out to Barbizon because our daughter was supposed to have a competition in December. Then we can finish with the program. But there are four video classes that she has to take. They sent us a link. But every time we put the link, we cannot go through for her to finish everything. We tried to get to them to see how they could resend it because they said to put the password. We put whatever they asked, but we still cannot go through for her to take her full video class and to make sure she completes everything. So there's a little confusion right now. Right now, we haven't done anything, and time is passing by because we cannot get to anybody yet.

My daughter is into modeling and acting, so we tried Barbizon to get her a little training and help her maturing down the line. She was dealing with the classrooms for modeling and the Barbizon staff were helpful and kind. They talked to us and they were convenient. They waited there until we were picking the kids up and kept them comfortable, especially my daughter. She's young, so it was awkward for her to have to stay on her own. But she managed to get to it. She's only eight and at that age, she can only take in so much information. So, if there was more information that would have been passed on to me as a parent, then that would have helped. But overall, Barbizon was great. They were able to reach out to me on time and respond to any inquiry I had. They're pricey, but it would go towards a decent cost. They do help with trying to get you in the industry and showing my daughter how to prepare for interviews.

The experience has not been good since my daughter graduated from Barbizon. They offer you this whole big thing, and you pay money. She is supposed to be going to Atlanta and I have called them so many times to find out information. I've left 10 messages. Finally, somebody called me back and said someone would call me back. But it's been over a month and I still haven't heard from her. My daughter loved the classes and came home feeling very positive about herself every time she went. But communication has not been the best even while she was attending the classes. Before they opened the facility, they were using hotels. But to find out what hotels they were in, we weren't getting anything. They left us off a lot of emails and every month when we would go, I would ask them to check it. But she still didn't get the emails. She would miss a lot of Zoom calls and it was an endless battle.
Hi Megan - We are so glad to hear your daughter loved the classes and that you will be attending the Atlanta competition. Thank you for bringing the communication issues you've experienced to our attention. This is not in line with the level of service we strive to provide. We've asked your ambassador to reach out and make a connection with you to ensure we have a better line of communication open moving forward. Additionally, if you ever have issues connecting with someone on our team, please don't hesitate to reach out to our corporate office at barbizon@barbizonmodeling.com and we will be sure to follow up on your behalf.

I love Barbizon. It was a great start for me to learn more about modeling and do classes. I participated in the six-month class in Greenville, learning different things, every class we had, and graduated with more knowledge. The staff was very helpful. They were always there when I needed them to teach me anything. They were very uplifting. It wasn't like a mandatory something I had to go to. It didn't feel like it was boring and I was, “I gotta go to this.”

My kid wanted to do Barbizon so we did it. Dealing with the staff was good. But I don’t like that they just let anybody get in the competition at the end without even going through any of it. The one who won a lot of stuff didn’t even go through the class with them so that was a little discouraging.
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide a review and we're glad your child had a positive Barbizon experience! There are many ways to navigate the industry. Often models and actors that already have extensive experience in the industry will explore opportunities to work with our company through advanced industry services. However, we specialize in working with new talent and helping to develop them so they are able to competitively participate in events and connect with industry pros. We hope your child has been able to take full advantage of the placement services that are available to them and also encourage you to reach out to your ambassador from the event to ensure you make the most of your follow ups with any agencies and management companies that marked interest throughout the week.

When I signed in, Barbizon called me and we set up everything. The staff was very good and my daughter got a lot of experience. I love that. She took a course for six months, and they told me when she finished the class, they would find a job for her. But I haven't received anything until now. Her last day was on April 16th. I don't know who to call. When I text them, they tell me it's not the right number. But they called me about a competition in Atlanta for December 15th and I would have to pay $1,100.

My daughter had just decided she wanted to pursue acting and modeling, and I happened to be up in the middle of the night and saw Barbizon's ad on Facebook. I said, "Okay. Let's see what they're talking about." We live in Virginia in the Hampton Roads area, and the young ladies on staff that were working with the people in this region were phenomenal. They really sold it for me. If I had to rate it 1 to 10, I would definitely give it a 10. Everybody was extremely professional, yet personable. They made the experience very enjoyable for my daughter and myself.
My daughter attended a competition and she got picked to go to the bigger one in December. She has not done placement as of yet though. I'm still confused as to how she gets involved in the placement. However, she's doing some things outside of that, and because of the training she got from Barbizon, she recently won a pageant.

I got the six-month classes, and I'm also in Passport to Discovery. I loved all of the staff at Barbizon. When I first got accepted for Passport to Discovery, one of my first phone calls was to Ms. Stephanie to ask her all these questions and she was so helpful. And for the first four classes, we had Ms. Jessica. Love her too. And the guy was funny. I talk a lot more to people that I don't know. It's a good opportunity and fun. I would do it again. I recommended a couple of my friends to see if they could find an Indianapolis one coming up.

Barbizon is a good experience for my daughter. We're traveling at the end of the year for a Barbizon competition. I'm looking forward to that. That'll be the first competition that we ever did physically. We had auditions and they've been good. She's been enjoying herself. However, it's expensive. She got the opportunity for the competition at Disney which was too expensive for us to go at that moment. So we had to send that one out. With Atlanta, it's not as expensive but it's still expensive as far as the fees and the traveling.

When my granddaughter was six, she took a modeling course with Barbizon and had a great time doing it. Now, she was drifting into too much of a tomboy attitude. So, I thought we would enroll her so that she could learn about make-up and how to walk and social graces. She did a course where she learned how to do runway walk, how to do makeup, how to do hair and it did positive things about her body. She is in fact going to participate in a competition in June. As far as the staff at Barbizon, they're very pleasant and very responsive if I had any questions. I was particularly impressed with their video interviews.

I was a little bit nervous at first, but walking into the room, everybody was so uplifting and really welcoming. We all kind of worked together and it was a really good environment to be in. My favorite thing that I participated in would have to be the music video that we did. I was put in the dance group portion of that and me and my group were able to come up with super cool outfits and do a little bit of modeling with that as well. It was really fun. The graduation runway show was also really fun. I had a partner with that that I've never really spoken to before, but we really clicked whenever it came to that portion and we were beside each other.
I noticed that I was a lot more confident whenever I left. I was struggling with self-image when I first went but doing the modeling, seeing myself in my pictures and the headshots, and learning more about that, it really helped my self-confidence and be more open and extroverted with having conversations with people. Also, the staff was awesome. They let us have our own little personalities but they also kept it really professional.
Overall, my experience was really good. There were some hiccups in the class regarding one particular person, but they handled the issue really well and helped resolve any conflicts that that person may have caused. They were super professional about it and they tried to make sure that everybody was happy and followed the rules.

My six-month experience at Barbizon was a lot of fun. It was a bumpy start and there was a little more of the bookwork. But when we did activities, I and a lot of other students had the opportunity to open up and really show the growth along the journey, which was amazing. I really liked that the management shifted along the journey as need be and that helped the class big time. Interacting with the class was challenging at first but it was rewarding when you got to know people who wanted to be there. Some of the people didn't per se seem like they wanted to be there. But for the people who were passionate about what they were doing, it was a pleasure interacting with everybody at every class. I took a public speaking class and it helped tremendously as regards Barbizon. I was so ready for the challenge and I might have been nervous at some point, but I knew that I could do it because I had taken this class. And I'm so grateful for it.

But now she has gained a lot of confidence. She said it's a great experience for her that's why she keeps pushing forward. She talked about how they taught her a lot even how to take care of her skin, not just acting and the modeling.

My son had a wonderful experience with Barbizon. It was fast and it was intense. But it was very informative and purposeful for Jalan. He really enjoyed his journey with Barbizon. They were awesome from start to finish. My son was a part of the Barbizon competition. Every Saturday, once a month, when he would go to those classes, he was treated like royalty. They were always enthused. It was at the hotel.
The main piece that I felt was a match to Jalan was the etiquette portion and how the curriculum really is geared and centered towards confidence. My son is an athlete. So trying to get him to understand and absorb the importance of that student athlete piece and overall self-care was a challenge. His engagement with Barbizon really took that to the top. His confidence is awesome. I'm also a single mom and this journey wasn't easy, financially. But I had great support. I had options and great suggestions and recommendations on how to really push Jalan through this program.

Everybody has been very nice and courteous. They're very good at answering questions. My daughter enjoyed the classes. But she felt the classes were a little bit too advanced for her. She couldn't always understand everything that was going on. But she's only eight years old. So it's probably has absolutely nothing to do with Barbizon. But she got a lot out of it. Sometimes it's hard for her to stay on task and pay attention. But everybody seems to work with her and get her to do what she was supposed to.
Since she started with Barbizon, she's more interested in self-care more than anything, taking care of her own skin and her hair, which is new. She's more interested in doing things, like acting and modeling. She's signed up for theater at our local theater and she's enjoying that a lot. What she learned there helped her with her confidence to go ahead and do those things.

My son liked Barbizon a great deal. They went over etiquette and there was a bunch of different things that he gained from. Because of them having multiple locations, it made it user-friendly. There was one time where we were running late, but they were really good on giving the information and sharing the stuff that they were gonna be going over. Also, it was really easy to reschedule classes, which resulted in us graduating a little bit early. But we were told we would get the placement card and the completion certificate and we wound up not getting it until just recently. That was kind of a surprise, but I know a lot of things have been prolonged with COVID and everything else.

My daughter and I were talking about modeling. She was interested in it a long time ago and I was doing some Google searching on modeling agencies. The one that gave me the most interest was Barbizon because it has so many years, they've had so many clients, and people that have been successful. I wanted to give them a try. The process was really rough going through, but the end result was pretty nice.
Their staff was very knowledgeable and they didn't have any problems answering any questions that I had or directing me in the correct way to find the answer that I was looking for. The staff was all the way impressive. Barbizon is little pricey, but it's worth it because, in the end, my daughter has a lot more tools that will help her in all areas -- not just acting and modeling but also her etiquette, how to walk, and her posture. It even helps health-wise. But they need to work on their certificates for the end. With how much money all these parents are spending for the children to come to the classes, the certificate could at least be in some kind of folder or something.
Reviewed Jan. 11, 2024
My daughter learned a lot from Barbizon. It just seems to get more expensive the longer you stay in it. But initially, we went with them because they were a lot cheaper than the modeling agency that we have in our area, and we liked that it was a lifelong membership. So, she could always go back and redo classes if the industry changes or she forgets things because she's still a little girl now.
During the classes, Barbizon doesn't really include parents in a whole lot. We had to come from two and a half hours away to Atlanta and they have a meeting room in a hotel where they do the classes. They would usually have parents drop their kids off then come back and pick them up because they were watched very well. There were two to three Barbizon-certified adults there. But my daughter has special needs as she's a type one diabetic and it was fairly new to us. So, they didn't have anybody first aid-trained in her specific needs, so I came with her. But when I did, I didn't really have anywhere to go. So, I would just bring my laptop and do some work from either the cafeteria or lobby area and wait during the eight-hour class.
Other than that, their reps were very courteous. One time, they were saying that my daughter kept getting up. I was trying to tell them that she was only nine and if her blood sugar was high, she couldn't really control her emotions. I told them that her sugar was 300 and I was trying to knock on the door. I told them that she needed some water and asked if she could step out.
Besides that, I didn't have a lot of interacting that I was hoping for parent-wise for anything. I would have liked to be included a little bit more because I would have been able to get the tips as far as how hair should be done, how comp card should look, and some things that they should have given parents as they taught it to the kids, which wasn't really anything until at the very end. It was at the competition that she was selected for that we learned that they preferred natural hair. That was also an extra couple of thousand dollars that I felt like should have been included in the price of the classes.
So far, we got our placement information, which is just their website for people that work with them. But I still have to go online and email these people. They don't do anything for you. So, if you complete the courses, you send back pictures for their comp card for them to promote to the people that work with them. But they don't necessarily promote you. They just give you access to the people that work with them.
All in all, my daughter enjoyed her time at Barbizon. She did her competition and there was a lot of waiting around during competition day. She had 10 callbacks after the show and I'm still trying to make it through all of those different agents, what they charge, what they want and what is advantageous for us or not. But she wanted to do acting and we didn't get a lot of access to acting agents. It's mostly just modeling. If you have the money for Barbizon, I would recommend signing up. But if it's something that's going to put you in a bind, I wouldn't do it.
Hi Melinda, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are so glad to hear your daughter enjoyed the program! While the program is meant for the students, we completely understand and agree with your feedback regarding overall improvement by providing parents with additional information as well. We regularly revisit the curriculum to ensure it is current and extensive. We are happy to announce that we are currently working to launch a brand new virtual class that parents can attend to learn tips and tricks on how to best support your child on their path as an aspiring model or actor. We will be sure to ask the local center to personally send you an invitation as soon as this new class is available as it will be included as part of the program your daughter is enrolled in. We are thrilled to hear that your daughter received so many callbacks at her competition! The modeling and acting industry is a professional one. Our program is meant to provide training, insights into how the business works and safe access to reputable opportunities. No matter who aspiring talent chooses to work with to pursue the industry it will take a lot of drive, determination and work. Whether it’s attending auditions and go sees, filming self tapes or sending submissions to secure representation, all of these actions are the types of work that will be required to be successful in the industry. The placement program is not an agency and will never take a cut off of work a model or actor books through it, but it is the responsibility of the model or actor to book and do the work. With lifetime access, there are many resources to help you navigate this and should you need assistance with anything related to your competition follow ups, we would recommend reaching out to your ambassador. Should you need assistance with anything related to placement or verifying that your daughter’s model card is current to ensure she is receiving notifications of opportunities that she is a match for in your local market, we would recommend reaching out to the placement department. Both departments can be reached through the main office line: 1-800-330-8361.

Barbizon seemed pretty legit and everything on the website that they had was true. I did the classes, then I started getting into the actual competition. A couple of times, I've had some companies message me, but I haven't really gotten into anything else yet because I'm doing the competition for the 2024 Passport to Discovery. We're going to Disney World and doing a series of competitions like acting, improve, singing, and modeling. When getting into the competition, there was a series of things that you had to do like a 15-second commercial and a runway walk. There was a two-hour video thing that you had to wait for and you got put into a room with a director that was for Grey's Anatomy. Then you would get picked or not. So there were 15 people that were picked to go to the competition out of 100 people that were also doing the thing.
Learning at Barbizon has always been a dream of mine because I've always been uptight about my looks, the way that I perceive myself to other people. So at first it was a little nerve-wracking because it was something new that I was doing. But at the same time, I was confident about myself and doing what I was doing. I had these teachers, Ms. Aisha and Ms. Toni, who were amazing. We had chants also for the end of classes sometimes. They gave you pointers about your walks if you were a little off, but they also made you feel like you were doing great. There was no tension at all at any time during the classes and they were very patient with everybody. They give you a lot of experience and intel on how you're doing. They also give you a lot of of opportunities throughout your classes and if you want to continue the career.
Whenever I was first doing the classes, I got sick on stage so I had to go home. I redid the classes recently and I was able to genuinely graduate. You have to put in a placement card to get into getting more opportunities from different people and I recently ordered it, so I'm just waiting at the moment. Right now, I'm in a digicamp thing for the competition, so I take advantage of the Barbizon website. It helps out a lot, especially their videos. It's also very easily accessible and doesn't rack your mind up.

My daughter used to go to Barbizon on Sundays for six months and they learned about makeups. They also did building confidence and doing runways. The classes were a little bit too few, like once a month. That's a long time before the next class. It would be better if the classes were every two weeks instead of once a month. Also, I wish there was something continuing after the class. After the six months, that was it. So there's nothing to build on to what she learned.
Hi Caroline - Thanks for your feedback. We'll be sure to share it with your local Barbizon center. There are a few continuing benefits for program alumni. If your daughter has received her certificate of completion, she is eligible to sign up for free placement services. This will provide her with access to a database of reputable agents and managers in your local market as well as notifications of modeling and acting opportunities in your market. Additionally, she has lifetime access to retake all or part of the program at any point if she is looking for a refresher. We will ask someone to reach out to you to help you and your daughter get set up for placement. Hope this helps!

This company is a scam. My daughter completed classes on August 5th. Upon completion she was told, and I have a printout stating, she couldn't partake in any placement activities until she received her Certificate. Three days after completion I was contacted to have my daughter compete in an audition that was to take place August 23rd. Keep in mind we still don't have a certificate, but was sent a contract to sign. We finally received my daughter's certificate, dated for September 22nd, with a post marked envelope dated for October 12th. On September 28th, I found out I had a spinal cord injury and unable to work like I was before. On Friday, October 20th, at 1:45 pm, Barbizon contacted me asking about the second payment. I told them I wouldn't be paying because of a medical issue and the lady was very rude. She refused to give me the address I was to send the letter of cancelation, all she would tell me is a street name.
Come Monday, they took money out of my account that was not for the amount outlined in the agreement, knowing that I was going to be sending a letter of cancelation. Clearly, Friday afternoon to Monday when the money came out isn't enough time to get a letter to them. They are refusing to refund the money taken out of my account without my consent, despite their bad business practices. Please avoid this company at all costs.
We are so sorry to hear that there was a miscommunication. Placement and Competition are separate services and departments.
To clarify:-Placement is a free service that is available once a student has received their certificate of completion.
- Placement provides access to a database reputable local agencies and management companies and also the opportunity to enroll in a notification service for modeling and acting opportunities in your local market.
- Placement never takes a commission off of work a model or actor books as this is a free service.
- The only way to access Placement is either to attend a Barbizon audition and be deemed “Placement Ready” by the Talent Director (meaning, the person auditioning has a history of experience and knowledge in the industry and is looking to expand their access to local opportunities) or, if training is needed, Placement can be accessed by successfully completing the Barbizon development program and receiving a certificate of completion.
- Competition is an optional paid event which allows contestants to participate on stage in competitions including runway, TV commercial and more in front of agents, managers, casting directors and other industry professionals.- Depending on the competition, there are opportunities to compete in front of regional or international industry professionals.
- Callbacks during the competition allow contestants to meet and network with the agents and managers who are interested in potentially signing them based on their performance at the competition. Additionally, the competition awards various industry related prizes and scholarships from both the company and the industry pros that attended.
While attending Competition is not necessary for either placement or to self-pursue agency representation, many past attendees have found it to be a great way to amplify their access to many industry pros in a safe, supportive environment and gain experience.
We hope this helps to clarify any misunderstanding and would recommend speaking with your local center directly if you need additional information about either department, registrations or cancellations.

Signing up my daughter for Barbizon was pretty easy, and convenient. She's been doing pretty good besides all the activities that she's doing. But I wish it was a little cheaper.

I thought that Barbizon was a good opportunity for me to get my foot in the door as far as learning more about acting and modeling. Because that's what I really aspire to do. I did all the classes. They were fun and very informational. They were getting me out of my shell, and I liked that about it. I learned a lot from the program. I really benefited from going to it and participating in it. I'm gonna be in the upcoming event in Atlanta in December and I plan on taking the opportunities. As long as you're serious about it, then you can get something from it. But, if you're not doing what you're supposed to do, then you're probably not gonna get much from it.

My daughter found them online and saw that they were having classes in the Des Moines area, which was convenient. Also, they had a long-standing, good reputation and we didn't wanna get her involved in anything that wasn't very established. We signed her up for the classes and the interaction with them was wonderful. They do get very busy at times and sometimes it's tough to get in touch with them. But they usually got back to us. We only had one bad experience while we were at Barbizon with an agent who was rude. But it was an outside individual and I don't think that Barbizon knew how to deal with it because it was kind of a high profile agency. Other than that, the people from Barbizon themselves were absolutely fabulous. It was an amazing, wonderful experience and I am so glad we did what we did.
She was asked to audition for Passport to Discovery in Orlando, which she was chosen to compete at. When she was in the Passport to Discovery, the national competition, she added monologue and she won the monologue in her division. Which was really exciting because she'd never done it before. After that, she was asked to audition for a regional competition, which she had the choice of Dallas, Baltimore, or Georgia. We have family in Dallas, so we did that. She won the commercial imprint modeling for her division, along with other awards. She also was awarded a scholarship to an acting school in New York.
In the first improv my daughter ever did in her life, she had the judges laughing and they loved her. She got 35 callbacks out of the 40 agents that were there. The lesson that she learned was to not give up and to not let someone else's bad day ruin your opportunity. It's a really great start for her and I don't know if she would have had these opportunities and if she would have been discovered any other way.

I like Barbizon. The classes were fun and I met a lot of new friends. Everyone was nice. I could email them, and right away, I'd get an answer within a few days. I like my teacher. Her name was Christine. I learned basic things that people never think about learning to do. I realized how important little things like that were like when you open a door or climb upstairs, or the way you walk not with your head down. I learned a lot which I still use every single day.

Barbizon offers classes first to know what's going on in the business. During the classes, they taught us what to do when you wanna branch out on your own and find your own modeling area. It was very helpful because it gave me a proper, more detailed version of what I wanted to know. I loved all the classes. Each of the instructors was very nice. If they needed to step back a little bit to focus on one particular area that people were struggling in, there's a lot of communication and I love that as well.

I had been interested in modeling and acting for a while and seeing Barbizon’s ad sparked me. I clicked the link and put in the information, and they called me back within a day. I spoke with someone and we scheduled a virtual audition to get into classes, and then I got in and they booked me for classes local to where I am. The classes helped build my confidence and I learned skills. But there were a few instances where students were distracting to everyone else. There were two teachers in the classes and one person who oversaw things. I was only with one teacher. They split us up into little kids and older kids. Later on, they combined groups and they just stuck with the teacher that did the older kids. But everyone was nice. I finished my classes and I should be getting my certificate soon. I had a good experience with Barbizon. I learned a lot and it was definitely very helpful for getting my acting and modeling career started.

I was a Barbizon student many, many, many years ago. One day, my daughter came to me with a Barbizon ad and said she wanted to do it. She went through the six-month course with one class a month. She started in December, so she finished in May. She got her certificate. I've got pictures at the start of each class and I watched her go from this shy little girl to this confident young woman.
Barbizon was very strict about natural makeup, which was amazing to me. She was doing her own mascara and lipstick after those classes. The nice thing about Barbizon is she can go back through any class she wants and retake it at any point. So that was a big plus to it. The staff was absolutely amazing. The kids got their feedback and Barbizon was real good about giving us our feedback saying, "Hey, this is what you might need to help them with or that." Any time I had questions, all I did was email or text somebody and they got right back with me. So it was absolutely amazing.

Enrolling with Barbizon Modeling was easy. I just had to sign up and show up once they gave me the date. It was a little pricey, but the program was good, and it felt like we were all one big family. The majority of my interaction with the staff was good and I feel confident in the skills I learned. However, there were a few incidents wherein I was told three different things by four different people, so we ended up getting confused on how I needed to pay for my day five. We had to figure it out on our own, because they were in contact with both me and my mom. Still, we ended up getting it paid.
We were also told over the phone that we could do cash, check, or money order, but the DOE told me that they couldn't take a money order or a check, and we brought a check. They ended up clarifying it after we made the payment is. Other than that, my experience was great, and I've already recommended it to one of the girls in my school when I was going through it. I'm getting ready once I get back from my trip to fill out the stuff for the graduate and support services as well.

The girl I got from DHS had low self esteem and didn’t believe in herself. I enrolled her in Barbizon and this little girl is shining. She is unstoppable. She is singing in choir in church and she wants to be in cheerleading now. It was a wonderful experience. She walks around that little model walk everywhere we go. She struts her stuff proudly and she tells everybody about the experience with Barbizon. She’s very, very happy about it, and so is her dad and I. It really pulled her up and gave her what she needed. My husband says Barbizon gave her self-confidence and self-security.
The cost was a little pricey for what we paid for. But the instructors were wonderful and on the roll. I love every one of them, especially Sienna, Janeisha, and Christian. They were the three best out of the whole bunch. They picked our girl up and made her feel special and helped her along the way. She still stays in touch with Si. She carries her along through her days and tells her how great she's doing. It's a big positive thing for her and her life having an adult and someone to kind of look up to in that sense of way.
There were a lot of kids that came and didn't even have lunch. A lot of them just get dropped off by their parents and they can't leave to go anywhere and that's foreseeable. But for those circumstances, Barbizon can have a basket of crackers or something that one of their head people could pull out and give to them. Also, Barbizon could have done a little bit more monitoring of the way some of the girls come in dressed. Every one of them said they were ready to model for Victoria's Secret. But as far as Barbizon handling the kids running out and vaping in their cars or in the bathroom, they were all on top of it. But they need a little bit more. They didn't have their supplies on time. They didn't have all their face creams or makeup palettes. So that was a big ordeal.

Barbizon has been around for so long and it was the one that my son trusted. He did the whole six months of training and he also did Passport to Discovery this summer in Orlando. He loved it and he had a great experience. We were not going with him so I made contact with his chaperones. I felt very comfortable with that. We had to be there to check him in and show our ID and be there to pick him up. And we called a few times before he went. We were always on the webinars because the parents had to be on screen with the child. So, I had quite a bit of interaction with the staff. It makes you feel like your kid is gonna be just fine.
Barbizon’s reps are not fabulous at calling back though. It takes forever to get a callback. But once they do, they fix everything or do what you need. It wasn't that bad but it was a little off-putting because they should have people that answer the phone instead of making you leave a message all day, every day. Or even have a computer system where they can get in and fix things for you. It would be nice. Leaving a message and them saying they’ll call back in 24 hours is outdated. Also, Barbizon doesn’t have to be that expensive. But my son got good stuff out of it and we appreciate it. I’m very happy with Barbizon and I'd recommend it. My son’s self-confidence is so much higher and he does well with public speaking now. He actually gave me some wardrobe tips. He plays soccer too and he's gotten a little more graceful on the field.

We have to call ahead of time, and they would let us know at that month if there's an opening. If she wanted to do anything, she called them, and they'd recommend a time when she could come in. It helped me to learn more about myself, change my walk, the way I dress, etc. It made me feel like a special model when I would be done. I felt more confident. The walking part was fun ‘cause I learned a lot of ways to walk as a model, how to turn, walk forward with confidence, head high, the foot movement, etc. The walking part was my favorite. At the end of our performances, they gave us awards. We did competition among each other. Then, in January, I paid in full whatever I was missing with a different credit card so I didn't have that issue of being charged twice.
In the process of those payments, I bought two tickets for the competition, $25 each and they charged it twice to my credit card. Then in February, they charged 150 to the new card, not the one that was on the contract, stating that I owed them. I don't owe anything and I need my money back. They sent back 120 instead of 150 stating that one of the payments bounced, which is impossible because my credit cards are empty and I have a very high limit. It's still in dispute with my bank. But some of the classes were things that she could have read or picked up. She said that the experience depends on what you wanna put into it and it was not as structured. Even for the first day, there was nothing other than the hotel sign that says the meeting room is this room. Also, the graduation part of it was probably disappointing for most parents ‘cause a lot of us were expecting to be able to see them. I called the instructor and she said that not all the states do the graduation. For the amount of money that we paid, they could have had one of the parents volunteer to bring in decorations, balloons, or banners. But they didn't have any of that.
We immediately got feedback on the refresher courses but unfortunately, they book quickly so she has not been able to take advantage of that. I used to do Barbizon when I was younger. I'm now 60. I looked into it again because my kids are gorgeous. My son wasn't really interested. He's gorgeous with a nice, thin, petite body. My daughter has the smile that lights up a room when she goes in it. So I was like, “Ok. Let me put them in." I put them in without even asking. Then my daughter was like, “Ok, mom. I'm interested.” As she got older, she has other things that she wanna do. The program was fine. It was fine going to the classes for the time that she was in class. She just finished up and got her certificate. The only thing I didn't really care for was all the competitions that you have to go to. They cost so much money. She got picked by two people when we was in Baltimore, but we never heard anything else from them. They reached back out maybe once, and then I kept reaching out, and there was nothing.
Then now they're calling saying someone wants to audition her for a commercial. It didn't turn out to be an audition for a commercial. It turned out to be something to try to get you interested in going to another competition to spend more money. I was like, “I already spent over $10,000, and it's time for some money to come back. I'm not rich. I work hard for my money, and don't really get a chance to really spend a lot of time with my children.” Now, they're teenagers. Every time, there was a competition, it was always a call about, “Ok. They want her to audition for a commercial,” but it never ended up being that. It always ended up, “Ok, she got an audition from whoever,” and they said, “Oh, somebody wants to audition her.” Then it turns out, “Oh, you wanna go to a competition?” I thought that was a little weird, but other than that, she enjoyed it.
I talked to one person last week and they were trying to get her to go to a competition. She said she wanted to go, but she works and she's in school. The person was like, “She said she wasn't interested.” First, she said she was, and I guess because she changed her mind, they couldn't get the payment out. So, the person called. It was a little hostile. It was like, “Well, she has a contract.” I was like, “Ok. Her contract was when she started Barbizon. it was almost two years ago. She don't have a contract. She didn't sign anything. And if she did, it doesn't mean anything because I'm supposed to sign it.” The person was like, “Oh, well, she got sent a written consent.” I said, “She doesn't have a contract, first of all.” She was like, “Ok, so why is she not interested?” “Because she goes to school and she's working. She's 19 years old. She has all the things that she wanna do. It wasn't something that she wanted to make a career.”
She does have other things she wanna do. She's in school. She's really a bookworm, and she's not really worried about how she's gonna pay her way through school because she works and she's really motivated. I work. She has both parents in her life. It's not like she's gonna be struggling. She's gonna be fine, but the person kept saying, “But I paid my way through school with Barbizon.” “Ok. My son liked Barbizon. They were really flexible. He missed the class and then he made up the class. He got something from it and he wants to continue doing what he's doing with it. So that's good. We just got a placement card, so we got some headshots that need to be done. When he used to come home on Saturday evenings, we really talked about the experience all through the next day. That was how much impact it had on him. So it was cool.

Two of my kids went to Barbizon. One of them completed everything. She's not making any money. We're just putting out thousands of dollars. She did the first training. Now, she's doing the bootcamp training online for the competition for Florida in July. My other child didn't attend any classes, so I lost money with that. We're doing it again with my niece and she likes it but not a whole bunch. She's only 10, so having to do classes online and listening are not for her.

My daughter, Max, enjoyed going with Barbizon. She was in the 6-month course and there was one Saturday a month where they did the learning aspects of modeling, makeup, and dressing. She wasn't in school, so it was a good aspect for her new learning ability. If anyone is thinking of enrolling their kids with Barbizon, they should be prepared to pay money. They should read the fine print and lines, too. They should also back their kids up and be there for them 100%, because they're going to need it.

My daughter participated in the workshops and trainings every Sunday for a couple of months. She did most of those, then she went to another one, which was done online, to help with her modeling, posing and taking pictures. She has a bag and makeup. Barbizon did everything they said they would do, and the staff was good. If I ever had questions, I could call them and they would answer or even give me an email, so they were good at letting us know everything and sending reminder emails to let us know when the next program workshop was. My daughter acquired a lot of skills, because she's a lot more open now. She wouldn't get on stage at first, but now, in school, she wants to do talent shows in front of other people, so I know it helped her.

The Barbizon program was a little rocky to start with, but Mr. Arthur took care of everything. I had problems with the first lady we deal with and I don't care for her. Her name is Pamela and if I could have reached the phone, I would've slapped the living daylights out of her. That's where Mr. Arthur had to get involved, and he was amazing. The rest of the crew were amazing as well. That includes the instructors, Sarah at the office when I called, and another lady we're dealing with now. The classes were great, and all the people were were nice and easy to work with. For my daughter, the program was really good, and I have no complaints on it. I could see a big difference just going to the classes, and how she carries herself. She just had a competition, and she did really good during that as well.

I've always been interested in talent agencies. I saw a sign for Barbizon Acting that said, “Youth or young actors modeling.” The next day, I walked into their office. I spoke to somebody named Ana. I just wanted more info and asked her if they were looking for any talents and if there was an audition process or any acting class I could be a part of. She told me to write down my information and if they were interested, they would call me. They called me a week later and then from there, everything started for me.
I got an audition and it was an online, self-tape audition. I passed and now, I'm about to start Passport to Discovery through acting modules and camp, and then go to the Walt Disney scouting event in the summer of 2023. I've had a really great experience and I love it. Barbizon has allowed me to grow personally through mentors that I have found there. Ana was a good teacher and I have her contact information. She was my online teacher. When I came over to Houston, I met another teacher here in town. I've gotten a little bit more insight of the entertainment industry, different agents, and agencies. Barbizon helped my daughter with confidence building. They learned how to walk the runway. The teachers were super upbeat. There were lots of positive energy and constructive criticism. They learned facial care, hygiene and makeup. The only negative thing I have about it is that they want you to keep spending money. She always gets accepted to everything and it's always going to cost thousands of dollars. She was chosen to go to the Orlando event they had, but that was gonna be $3,500. We declined moving forward. The class itself was only six one-hour classes and it was $2,000. We were under the impression that there would be more connections but there weren't. I think they just choose everybody and it's the money for them. I don't think that they're overly selective. If my daughter was someone that people would be interested in, she would have a sponsor. Their communication stood out. They're also more for the kids and want them to be successful. My daughter went to classes. She did a couple of online Zoom stuff. But every time there was a class in session, she was in class and was with people and they were seeing her walk. It's also not just modeling and acting. The coaches really work with the kids on all of those platforms. They teach how things are incorporated with each other. Now my daughter is more confident. She's a tad on the smaller side and that really bothered her a lot. Since she graduated through Barbizon, and then she got accepted into another competition, she's really excited about all that. I was a student at Barbizon when I was younger. I talked to my granddaughter about going to modeling class and I told her about my experience. She was interested so I signed her up for Barbizon and she was accepted into the program. She really liked the program. Every time I picked her up, all of her instructors said how proud they were of her and how much progress she was making during every class. My granddaughter got confidence in herself. We didn't get the overall score until after she was done with the program. But we didn't let her know that they scored her there on all levels of her training because I didn't feel that that was right and we don't do anything to bring down her confidence or make her not feel that she accomplished her goals. Her goal is to model as well as go into the military.
I would recommend Barbizon with a suggestion to discuss with the child where their weaknesses are and where their positives are so that they can improve on them. My grandaughter never said that anyone has told her anything like that. I never got a bad record about her. Barbizon seemed so busy. She made tons of friends there and stuff that she's still connected with, and how they still want to help even after she's graduated from the class. She has an agent now. She went and did a few modeling for pictures to be put on her website, but no jobs yet. We're still in the process of trying to get everything set up for that.
When we went to one place for her pictures, she shot with a guy that used to work with the Rolling Stones. She was telling him some of the things, but he was telling her to pose. She said that in school, they were not supposed to pose. But then he said that with fashion, she had to do it. Barbizon might be a little behind in the posing, like how the guy was having my daughter do motion moves for pictures and bringing her hands up to her face, because of hand models sometimes, you still put your face into it as well. She was nervous because the people were always telling her, "You don't do this. You don't do that." Then the guy was telling her, "You just keep moving while you're doing your pictures. The movement is where it's at." She was struggling. Barbizon could improve on helping the girls get more in tune with the different types of modeling. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied with it.

Barbizon made sense as they offered our daughter something that she wanted in terms of training to be able to move forward in the modeling world. Enrolling our daughter into the program would have been easier had it not been for the Coronavirus. That made our process of getting into the program a little lengthy from the moment we first reached out. I also had a few issues but customer service was great.
Families pay all this money to have their children go to this level of training. It would be nice if the children could at least have a portfolio once the program is over. We have nothing. It would be nice if they can have that where the children could at least start to sell themselves to agencies. It will be nice if they left with a list of local agents that the families could potentially reach out to or have some appointments to sit down in front of or at least have a mock or a legitimate gig in the real world. That would be most beneficial for families.
In the end, the only person who really gained anything are our children but at the same time, we don't know what they learned per se because there's no real tangible product. Once the program is over, my daughter goes to school. When she's in school, is she a model? No. There hasn't been a climbing step for her to get into the modeling world. She's still at square one even though she may know how to walk. Families are wanting their children to break out in that world. Overall, Barbizon is beneficial but you're still going to have to do the dirty work. For what it was, it was good and we would make the same decision again. I just wish there was something else. Once that part is over, what's next?
Hi Latasha, We are so happy to hear you and your daughter enjoyed your experience with the program. Regarding a portfolio, a professional modeling portfolio is collection of work done not just a collection of pictures taken. Should your daughter choose to pursue modeling opportunities, she will be able to build her book over time showcasing many different looks and styles for projects she has worked on and that will help her market herself in the industry. There is an opportunity available to your daughter that students are told about during the last day of their program called Placement. Once your daughter had received her certificate of completion, she is eligible to request her placement enrollment information. This is a free service which will provide her with a list of reputable agents and managers in your market that she should send submissions to in order to try and gain representation. Additionally, she will receive a model card to fill out and send back. Once this is complete, she will begin receiving notifications of upcoming modeling and acting opportunities in your area that she is a good fit for. She will need to call the Barbizon she attended to request her placement enrollment information if she decides she is ready to pursue industry opportunities. As students take our program for many different reasons, Placement is a service that requires the initiative of enrollment to begin branching into the professional aspects of the industry and we are here to help during that process.

The sign-up for the class with Barbizon was easy. But towards the ending of the class, they give more feedback to the child as they're going through the classes. I really didn't have any communication and it would have been a little bit better just to know how my daughter did. It would have been nice if one of the instructors either sent a quick email saying, "This is what I thought about her. This is what she can do." This is because the child is not always gonna come back to the parents and tell them things, especially if they are teenagers.
Also, Passport to Discovery was right after she ended her class. That was great. I enjoyed that and my daughter did as well. As a child, she needs to put a little bit more effort into it because there's only so much that an ambassador can do. We had Mercedes and she was really great in getting some feedback. My daughter is not her only client. But whenever I emailed her, she always responded to everything. The drawback for me and what I didn't do well, is making sure that my daughter stays in constant communication with them. This is her first year. At Passport to Discovery, the better you become at it, the better chances you have at winning those scholarships. It's unfortunate that the classes only last for six months and it was once a month. It was eight hours a day but did they really cover everything that could help her?
Another thing is we're still waiting on the placement card, which they told us would be out. That is a little disappointing. My daughter really can't do anything without those cards. Other than that, we will be signing up for Passport to Discovery again next year. You actually have to go through a virtual call again and be selected. My daughter did get called for a virtual audition but she keeps getting calls while she's at work. When she gets off, Barbizon is already closed, so we don't have the information.
Overall Barbizon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can do it for however long that you want and you can constantly still sign up for it. We would tell others to do it because they would be able to meet so many people. It's networking and you constantly receive help, which is good to help perfect what you need to work on. Barbizon gave my daughter an opportunity to come out of her shell a little bit, which is one of the goals of Barbizon. They get people that are interested in acting and modeling because they have to be a little outgoing in order to do that. You have to be able to get out there in order to talk to people and experience the best experience that you can.
As a consumer, I like the payment plan. But I hope it can be extended out. Everyone likes a little bit more time to make the payment. Being that it was in Orlando, the hotel in itself was expensive so I can understand the pricing of it. But by stretching the payment, somebody would be more inclined to do it. Overall, my daughter liked Barbizon and really enjoyed it. She would continue with it. The modeling is good.

Barbizon connected with me with regard to my 16-year-old son, Gabriel. A couple of times, I had to wait for customer service and they answered no matter what. But they really didn't communicate a whole lot with the parents. It was the minimum and it would be a little overwhelming. There would be so much information all at once. I tried calling a few times and they had random different numbers. I tried calling the coordinator and I would get somebody else when they told us from the very beginning at the orientation that this person is the person to be in contact with.
I also still wish that my son would have an actual agent. That was my impression from the very beginning. I hoped to have someone who would be mentoring Gabriel, even if it was over the phone, via Zoom, or whatever the case may be after graduation. But he was left to fend for himself. A lady called about two weeks ago stating that there was an opportunity for him to audition for modeling. I told her when to call us as I would have to be with him because he's underage. But no one has really bothered to call back. Gabriel really wants to continue this and he wants this to be part of his career. But there's really no opportunity. Even though they had one class every month for the last seven months or so, everything was sprung onto them all in one day once a month.
I was able to connect with one of the coordinators at one point in early September and I asked them what the next step was. The lady said Gabriel would have to do a resume and make sure he puts Barbizon down. That was something that they should have done with him while he was there. They should also give a list of places or agents. But there was none of that. Barbizon needs more work. But overall, I would still recommend them no matter what. We had a good experience and I am happy.
Hi Jessie – Thank you for your review and we’re so happy to hear that Gabriel enjoyed the program! It seems like there may have been a miscommunication at some point regarding the graduate support services. If you have received the certificate of completion, your son is eligible for free placement services through your location. This includes a list of reputable agents and managers in your market that you should consider sending submissions to in order to try and gain representation. The Placement Director at your location would be able to assist with any questions you might come across regarding the process. Additionally, if you send back the model card that is part of the placement enrollment, he will be registered to receive notifications of upcoming modeling and acting opportunities in your area that he may be a good fit for. This service is available to graduates and during the last day of class, students are told they need to call and request access should they decide to pursue industry opportunities. As these jobs in a professional industry, aspiring models and actors best succeed when they are able to take the initiative to pursue these opportunities and we are here to help guide this process. Reached out via email and numerous calls which clarified correct address still no placement card or certificate! Now still no response to calls!
Now this card is something “they” says helps them with auditions and other things. Well you would think they would make sure you received it and for the cost of it they should have their education department little more prompt about this and as fast as they swipe your money out of the account! Receiving that placement card and certificate should be just as fast once completed! Now great experience but overpriced and especially for them not to even do what they say after completion! Oh and if you are expecting any type of interaction after completion, nope think again! Once classes are over they're on their own! With a certificate or placement card which we have yet to receive!
Hi Nicole, Typically certificates are sent in the mail following graduation and should arrive within a few weeks. During their last class, students are encouraged to reach out to request their placement card to enroll in the free placement services as soon as they receive their certificate. Students come to Barbizon for many different reasons and not everyone is interested in pursuing the local placement opportunities. For those that are, the act of enrolling is a great first step to treating the modeling and acting opportunities from industry professionals in a professional, responsible manner. We asked the Placement Director from your location to reach out to see how they can assist to make sure your daughter is able to take advantage of all of the services available to her as quickly as possible. Please feel free to connect with local Barbizon for information or questions about their placement services and your daughter's status. We love the staff at Barbizon. They were amazing. Miss Kim at the Tampa location was very knowledgeable and still, to this day, has been encouraging. My daughter signed up for some big thing in Atlanta, some showcase. So, we're looking forward to that and to see what else lies on the horizon. Barbizon follows up. Because my daughter's finished the program, she has to send a placement card in to possibly get connected with potential agents. Barbizon is a bit pricey, but the training and everything they provide are really valuable.

Also, the staff was wonderful and they even offered me a job. They loved Caleb.

Hi Tayi - We are so happy to hear that you loved your classes! Did you already sign up for Placement? If not, give your local Barbizon a call and make sure to request your Placement Pack. This will give you a list of reputable agents and managers in your market that you should definitely take the time to send submissions to. Additionally, if you send back the model card that comes with the Placement Pack, you'll be enrolled for notifications whenever there are modeling or acting opportunities in your market that you are a good fit for. If you have any additional questions or need specific guidance regarding Placement, please feel free to reach out to us at barbizon@barbizonmodeling.com and we would be happy to connect you with the Placement Director at your location who can help guide you on next steps.

My daughter has done different classes. So, because we know Barbizon is well-known, when she received the call we kept saying, "Get on with it." She did a six-month program, and at the end of it, she was selected to be in the competition that took place in July 2021 in Baltimore, Maryland. I appreciate that they offer the free refresher courses with the amount of money that we had to pay for it. So, it is a great thing that the participants can come back to freshen up on things whenever they want.

She is not interested in modeling. She plans on college after graduation.
Well now we find out no refunds. Not even partial refund. Thousands of dollars wasted because they refuse to give refunds after 3 days. I didn't receive this information until I complained. If 2 years later and my child still haven't completed or made any money. I think they should offer me some kind of settlement knowing my child will never go to these competitions. They refuse to let me pass to my niece. Saying it is not fair but my child doesn't want to go to any competition. I am frustrated trying to get these people to understand my child doesn't want to model anymore. Any advice or help please.

I did have a little bit of hiccups in the early stages. For instance, I was getting charged fees and I didn't understand the fees, initially. I had my identity stolen so I had to get a new ID, bank information and so on. I didn't realize that I forgot to change it with Barbizon. In my mind, everything's been paid up. When I tried to pay it, there was a hiccup to where I got charged a fee because I didn't pay it on time. A few months after that, I got charged another fee because I didn't pay it in time but at the time, I wasn't working.
The girls over the phone are in Florida and because of the time difference, we were kinda playing phone tag. When I finally spoke to somebody, she was nice. It was just that they couldn't remove some of the fees that they should have removed due to the situation at the time. Another thing was when my daughter had one of the auditions inside a DoubleTree, the lady that helped there told us since we didn't pay, my daughter couldn't do it that day but what we could do was to fill out a paper. She said it loud to where people around me could hear. She wasn't really discreet with it. My daughter ended up going into class because I ended up going outside, getting the card and doing a whole bunch of other stuff.
The other big was the last payment that I made to pay it in full, the lady I ended up talking to when I was explaining to her kind of what was going on financially said, "We have a fund that we can help pay for the remaining balance. You just have to pay 165.” I was sitting there thinking to myself this whole time, trying to figure out how to make the payments because if I didn't pay, my daughter was going to be dropped. It was weird to me how finally for the last payment, I was offered that, when in actuality, I was dealing with something a little bit more serious like covid and losing my job. I still came up with 200 and some dollars to pay to make sure I paid for that month. That took food off my table. If there was a fund out there, it should have been offered to me in the beginning, not the last payment.
My daughter graduated about a month ago but I haven't received the diploma or the certification that she's supposed to get. I only received one phone call in regards to a placement or an audition and that was it. There hasn't been any type of communication between Barbizon and I since my daughter's last class or since the last offers for an audition. I wouldn't recommend Barbizon at all. I'm not necessarily very dissatisfied but there were things throughout the time frame that I felt that should have been addressed a little bit more in detail.
We are sorry to hear there were hiccups in the early stages of your payment plan. In reaching out to the local school, it looks like they were not informed that you were having an issue with your credit card until late September 2020. They were able to provide instructions on how to change your credit card in the system. When the next scheduled payment ran in late October, their customer service team noticed the same card you were having an issue with had been charged. In an effort of customer service, they called to let you know and provided you with information on how to fix the issue as well as waive that fee.
While an account does need to be in current standing for a student to continue in the program and attend the class, our team is required to be professional, discreet and caring to ensure all of our families are able to receive the best customer service. If you believe this did not happen during one of your interactions, we apologize for the experience and would like to assure you that this is not in line with our company values. We would appreciate it if you would email additional information about the date you attended (or the program class number) so that we can investigate further with the local school and ensure every member of our team provides the same level of customer service.
Regarding the partial scholarship available for your family, in effort of customer service and in light of the challenges your family had, the local Barbizon waived a portion of the program cost to ensure your daughter was able to complete the program and have the experience she worked so hard for as well as access to the free graduate support services.
Regarding the graduate support services, it looks like no one has called yet to request a placement package following your daughter’s graduation from the program in mid-April. We will reach out to the local Barbizon and ask that they send you one, however students are told that if they are interested in pursuing modeling and acting opportunities beyond the training program, they need to call and request their placement packet once they have received their certificate of completion. This packet is available to your daughter at no cost and will provide you with a list of reputable agents and managers in your area that your daughter should send submissions to in order to gain representation in the industry. This placement packet will also include instructions for how to enroll in free notifications of modeling and acting opportunities in your area which your daughter is a good fit for. You will need to fill out the placement model card and mail it back to the placement office along with one or two marketable, current photos in order to complete your enrollment. Additionally, as a graduate your daughter is able to return and retake all or part of the training program at any time.

She went to the local camp here once a month and she will be going to the Texas competition in a couple of weeks. She has enjoyed herself and had some good experiences. But I didn’t see much of a difference with my second oldest doing it. She was just there and mostly wanted to play in the makeup. Her walk is still terrible and she’s extremely shy. So, the program will work depending on your kid's personality. The staff has been positive although at times, it was difficult to get in contact or get the exact information I was looking for. The first time I heard of Barbizon was in Puerto Rico because back in the '80s, it was a very renowned agency there and I am from there. And then I received a call and we went through the audition through Zoom. That was how Angela started attending the six-month classes last year. The only thing that I was a little upset about was that Angela missed a class last year. It was a December one. I was sick. I had the virus so I didn't send her. I sent an email and left a message saying the reason why. And then for the next class, I forgot to go to the email and answer the questions and reserve, and I didn't know that I had to actually reserve her space.
I only saw that the email emphasized the fact that to make sure that the child has not been exposed or has the virus. But Barbizon was able to accommodate her because six kids did not show up. But I was upset, and they know. The guys here know that I was not happy with that because if I am paying them in advance, they already have my money, why are they telling me that there might not be a space for my daughter for the next class?
Also, they should let the parents know ahead of time, not at the end of the audition, "If you are doing this and your daughter is going to participate in this, if she is selected, then in order to be selected to the Passport to Discovery or this other event in Atlanta, there is a cost involved." Because that is what happened with the Passport to Discovery in August. I didn't know. In the back of my mind, “I'm assuming there's got to be a cost in that.” And then obviously at the end, yes, there's a cost and the payments. I tried but then I realized it's such a short period of time for me to disburse of all of that money, so I couldn't do it.
Then we went to another audition and it was for Atlanta. And I said, “Okay. Well, it's a little bit further away. I have a little bit more time.” I had four months to make the payments. I was already committed. I said, “Well, Angela, I'm gonna do my best to make it happen.” This time was a bit less money, but still, it would be nice to let us know ahead of time. “This is an audition. But if she's selected and you'd like to do it, this involves a cost.” Because I don't want a child to be all excited and be selected. And then a parent would say, “Oh, sorry. You can’t do it because we cannot afford that.” Also, I told my sister about Barbizon for my niece, but her point of view was that it was a lot of money for a short amount of time. And they wanted the courses to be every Saturday for a year.
Everything else was great. I am very happy with the interactions with the teacher and I wish that it was a time when we didn't have the COVID so there will be more things and a bit more interaction than what they have been able to do. But even with that, Angela has learned a lot, which I'm very happy. We couldn't attend the one in August because of budget and also the situation, but we are going to Atlanta in December. Angela seems excited. She has made a lot of improvement. And we continue to practice at home.

It was fine, at first. Barbizon told us all we had to pay was the $2,000, and that would have been it. They need to be more honest about the fees that come with it, after the modeling classes are over. They said that she will put a portfolio together, they send out different agents and went to a casting call. They called back and said she made it. But all this money up front in the same day, the same way they did it when we first joined. I'm a single mom with three kids. That's just a lot of money to invest and to be told that I have to do it the same day. She's having more success just meeting up with local talent agencies and leaving her portfolios with them. For the most part though, if I had any questions, it has been good.
Hi Erica – There may be a bit of confusion about the program and process that we would like to help clear up to give your daughter access to every part of the program she has available as a graduate. Since your daughter has received her certificate of completion, she is eligible for free placement services with her local center. This will provide her with a list of reputable agents and managers in your local area that she should send her submissions in order to seek representation and further access to opportunities in your market. The program we offer does not include portfolio services. A portfolio is made up of images from modeling work, not photo shoots or sessions paid for. It’s possible that you received a call with information about an audition for a competition opportunity which, in addition to award opportunities and exposure to international industry professionals may include opportunities for developing booked work resulting in portfolio images. This is not a part of the base program and, while the competitions are a wonderful opportunity to network and access broad industry connections in larger markets, it is not a necessary part of the program or for booking local modeling and acting work and is not always the right “next step” for everyone. We are thrilled to hear your daughter has been having luck connecting with agents following her graduation. The free placement resources available to her can help answer questions about contracts, industry standards and how to work with agents if she has any questions. Additionally, if she has not already done so, she may want to request a free placement packet so that she can enroll in the notification services for local modeling and acting opportunities in your area that she is a good fit for. This is another free resource available to help aspiring models and actors who completed the program begin to find real opportunities in the industry. We hope this information helps as she continues to grow in her pursuits of the industry. Please feel free to reach out to your local Barbizon directly if you have any questions regarding the free placement services, her lifetime membership to retake the program for refresher information and all of the resources available to her as a graduate.

When we went through the process with Barbizon, it seemed like it offered more in areas that my daughter, Jada, hadn't gotten so much exposure at John Casablancas so we decided to do it. It was much more engaging with Barbizon. She developed friends and found herself learning more in the modeling aspect. She shied away from modeling after she graduated from John Casablancas. She went into the acting. She didn't like runway. Even though she had an opportunity to do some modeling, it wasn't where she wanted to go. However, it seems that now, she's more confident in that area. She understands that she doesn't have to do runway. She can do print or other things as a model.
The communication was good. I like that part of it because Jada is underaged. When it came down to that placement card, we couldn't get in. No one would call us back. She left a couple messages and I emailed the young lady that has always emailed me. Right away, she said she would do it for us and Jada received her replacement card. I'm satisfied with what I know at this point and where she is but I won't be totally satisfied until I can see that they've granted their promises. Also, with covid, I was hoping we could see something that we paid for which could have been Zoomed to show the parents all the work that they've done for these months. We didn't get a notification until the date of the zoom meeting and once we tried to connect, we could never get connected. That was something that we weren't able to participate in. Also, there could be a little more parent involvement. They could send out emails saying how the kid’s doing in class without the parents asking. My daughter started participating in the Barbizon program over the summer of 2020. She found out about the program and wanted to participate, so we started the monthly Saturday meetings. After a couple of them, COVID hit and they were very good about communicating with us changes that were happening. We were on a pause for a little while. They picked it back up when they could appropriately with face-to-face meetings and communicated to us about now we need to register and the seating availability because of social distancing. I never felt like, "What's going on?" I've had various people calling us. "This is the ambassador, this is the person in charge." I felt like they really were aware of us and I had a phone number that I could call if I ever had a question.
My daughter is very interested in and ready to have local opportunities prior to this summer. She thinks she's all set now. She's done what she needs to do, and now, she's going to become a star. She's 17, so it's a lot different than telling a 10-year old, "You're going to be on Disney Channel." She has some stuff under her belt, so she's definitely been chomping at the bit to do all the things we need to do to make that happen. She is participating in Passport to Discovery over the summer and we've requested a placement card as well. She got some headshots done and we're getting ready to put that in the mail.
We've been very in the loop with everything up until I had to contact the main office to request a placement card. The flyer that I had said, "Contact the main number." I called three times during business hours and got a recording. I said, "I'm requesting a placement card per this flyer," but I never got a callback. I then emailed one of the people that we have information for, and then found out the card had been sent in the mail. We had it and I didn't know.
When you call the main office, there should be systems in place for that. This is a standard thing. If a person could not have answered the phone during business hours, it would have been great to get a callback or even an email saying, "We received your call and it's in the mail." After I made that call, ironically, I got a text saying, "Would you be willing to rate your experience with Barbizon?", and I did. That took me to the Facebook page. I started looking at all the other comments and all the ones that were really low had to do with communication via the main office, specifically. As I was reading the negative comments, I feel like Barbizon is not set up to make every single child a famous movie star. People have to have your expectations realistic when they go into it. For my kid, it was good timing for her and her self-confidence. Whether she gets a single job or not, she's excited about the industry.

They acted really, really frankly, and above and beyond friendly. It was beyond nice and kinda eerie in a way. But it's been great.
They invited my son to Atlanta to do one of their competitions. He did really well and he got a whole bunch of callbacks from a lot of different people. But I'm a little disappointed because it seemed like it was mostly people from that area and not all over the United States. Everybody that wanted to talk to us were all from the southeast area. Also, when they invited us to Atlanta, they said that if I wanted my son to go, I have to put down X amount of dollars, and then X amount every month. I didn't like that. It was really, really, really hard to come up with that money on my budget. I'm on disability. But overall, they are a great company.
I haven't explored everything that Barbizon can do because right at this point, I expect to just gain knowledge about the industry and what they're looking for. I would like to know more before I throw my son in there because I don't want to stress him out. He’s only nine and if he gets stressed out, then I get stressed out. My youngest daughter has the book and they were taught how to do makeup. I don't remember my oldest daughter getting that. The other thing I liked is after she was done with her classes, they followed up. The last time, we were told we had to keep doing more classes if we wanted to have an agent or get bookings. This time, we didn't have to do that. They said that they'll help us find them. All we have to do is fill out the information and send in the photos. I like the way they've changed. I never had a bad experience with any of the staff. They were all very nice and answered any questions if we ever had any.

We decided to look into personal development because it was something that I felt would be very enhancing for my daughter. Barbizon had a stellar reputation. I didn't feel that it was just something that was bluster. They really cared about the personal development of each young lady or young man that they selected. They invest in the individual. The staff was very professional and very nice. The program was stellar. It very much developed and instilled confidence in my daughter. My daughter was selected to go to Atlanta this year. However, because of COVID, they provided an opportunity to either continue and go or to go next year. So we will participate as long as we can. Our experience with them was excellent. I'm very pleased. I would highly recommend them.

My daughter had nine classes, one each month, with Barbizon and I'd go over whatever the papers they give us where it said that for that month, they were going to show her how to do this and that. Every time she went to class, I'd ask her if they showed her what they said in the papers and she'd say no. She said they just talked or modeled, and that was it.
Then after she graduated, we never had anything from Barbizon. For example, I've seen that all the kids got calls from agencies but my daughter continued applying. They sent her placement cards, so she subscribed in some agencies, but nothing happened. Barbizon would call to say that there'd be a casting and if she was interested, she needed to pay them some amount of money for them to register her. But they were not asking us if we needed help on signing up something from the agency or if they thought it was a good agency that she could go to and that we didn't have to pay them for their help.
She's going to have a runway now in December, so let's see how it goes. We received an email from Barbizon saying that if we have any question, we should call whoever's in charge of the runway, instead of the mentor. We also didn't get any call from a mentor at Barbizon who could motivate her since she's the only one who's going to be rehearsing in the runway. But I wanted her to at least to have somebody who's going to be with her as a teacher. At least that way, she won't feel nervous. I know that if I go there with her she’s not going to feel nervous. But we cannot be there because of the virus thing. We only have to stay in the room or see it online.
Despite that, Barbizon helped my daughter a lot and she had fun going to their classes. She liked going to her lessons and that was the more important thing. There was one class where they did that little runway at the end and they did a video of them doing the runway. They taught them how to perfect their posture and my daughter thought it was cool. They also taught them how to do their makeup, which my daughter wasn't really good at, at first. And they taught the whole class how to do their eyebrows, which were some of the things that she never thought of doing, so she really liked that. She also gained strength in her confidence, knowing that she can be successful in certain things. We'd tell others to try them out, not give up, and that they can learn a lot of things if they go to the classes.

I was on Facebook when I ran across Barbizon Modeling and I asked my son if he wanted to do it because he and his friend had been taking pictures of each other outside, modeling and being goofy with the camera. I was like, “Well, I think you could do pretty good in modeling, if you want to try it.” We went from there and it went good. I was very surprised. He picked up a lot of things like how to express himself when he is taking his pictures. Before, he did not want to smile because he thought his teeth weren't perfect enough. I was like, “If you have a beautiful smile, you just have a beautiful smile. It has nothing to do with your teeth. It’s your personality.” He learned to embrace that, but he’s getting his teeth fixed as well.
The last visit was good too. My son wished that there was something where the parents could go and they could see their kids do more or see what they've learned, like a runway show. With all the COVID stuff going around though, it wasn't going to be able to happen. Other than that, the staff was great. They helped me out a lot when I needed help or I was asking any type of question. They had everything together and it was a pleasure working with them. He graduated September 5th. For his next step, we talked to different agencies and he got signed with a modeling agency here in San Antonio, Texas (Condra Artista).
We had to pay a processing fee for my son's information and then the agency gave us websites that we could go to. Everything is free for us. We go on there and we can sign up for different acting jobs if we want to do acting or if he wants to do a modeling gig somewhere or something that he gets picked for, then that'll be great. They also look out for him for different modeling jobs around San Antonio, and they’re also located in Austin, Texas. I told my son to tell his friends to go and apply with them and go and get the experience if they ever choose to go that route.

My daughter was in the mall with her dad and she filled out a card that was in one of the stores. We got a call back from Barbizon and it went from there. Everybody was really good, really informative and very helpful. She enjoyed all the classes and learned a lot in each of them. She would get in the car telling me what they did that day. She realized that she was doing some things correctly already, like when it comes to sitting correctly and the different types of make-up techniques. It reinforced some things that she already knew.
We're at the point now where she has to get her pictures done. Once we get that done, hopefully, that'll be smooth sailing as well. But right now, we're kind of feeling like it's up to us to do whatever. It would be good if we got a little bit more hands-on or walking through the process of getting booked for commercials and jobs. Also, everybody won't be able to afford that price tag. It was a bit of a sacrifice for us.

COVID-19 interrupted a lot of stuff that they usually do, but they did what they could and kept it going. At first, my daughter's social skills were starting to come out and blossom. With not going to school now, she went right back to where she was before and her social skills went back inside. I'm not gonna blame it on Barbizon, but it's not what she truly could be. My daughter and I were in the mall, and there was a table setup. They were recruiting and they called us over to the table. They were friendly and nice. They pointed out certain things that they saw on my daughter. One of them told her that she had pretty skin to get her excited. My daughter and I talked about it. I told her if I was spending money on it, that it had to be something that she was gonna be committed to doing. I did mannequin modeling before and my mom did body part modeling. So it was an opportunity to see what it was about. As she got more involved, it appeared that she was more into it with the makeup. I see her doing different little stuff and some things that she's learned.
The person who we initially interviewed with when I brought her to the little audition was really, really nice. We liked her. Most recently, I spoke to someone because of the virtual audition. She was really nice as well. I liked her. The staff has always been really nice and friendly and helpful. I do see where my daughter did learn some things and some tips and pointers. She was given a little bit of direction on what to do next but not too much. It did give her opportunity to be in a different environment around a different group of people besides sports or in school. But I'm looking for a turnaround like it was investment. I wanna see that she's doing something with it or have opportunity to do something with it. I don't wanna feel like it was a waste or we paid all this money and nothing happened.

I went to a Braintree Mall and saw some girls who told me to sign up with Barbizon. Since my son, Jason, was seven, he kept saying he wanted to do modeling and acting. Before Barbizon, he kept practicing at home. In February, he went to audition for Passport to Discovery but he didn't get it. But the last time, he got in. That was something he really wanted do three years ago. I always felt he wasn't ready but on his mind, he was like, “I can do it. I can do it.” If he went to Barbizon earlier than that, Jason would have gotten more confident. He didn't love to read. He loved writing more. The first time when the school gave them the book to read, he was always looking for pictures. Now, he reads more.
Jason's doing great. When he knew he got qualified to go to the Passport to Discovery for next year, he's trying to memorize more commercials and monologues. My daughter learned some things out of the program. But I don't think that she felt that it was as helpful as she thought that it would be, mainly because she has a lot of experience already and she's been four years in her drama class. She did learn about some of the modeling things, but she's not really interested in modeling. She's very adept in her own makeup, poise and presentation because she's been in acting for so many years. I’m not as in touch with her actual instructors, but from what I can gather from her, they were friendly, supportive, and professional, which was my experience thus far with everyone I've spoken to.
The program really was useful. There was definitely a glance towards, "Is this something she can do and earn some money and help pay for college?" But she also did get interested in the personal development aspect. She engaged in some of the hair and make-up a little bit more than she has on her own, and she feels like she got to polish her presentation and speaking skills a little bit more. My daughter was very interested in Barbizon Modeling and did the education class. She has also done one event, which was the Southeast Competition that occurred in December in Florida. The education part was okay, but sometimes they would not go over all of the material in the book. I wish that they had gone over everything and taught the students as much as possible because it’s an investment in my daughter. I want her to learn and get all the information and instruction that was there. In the end, that instructor wasn’t there during the last two classes.
My daughter said she learned more in those last two classes with Ms. Mary than she did from her own instructor. It was good that she got something out of it, but disappointing in that she could have gotten all that knowledge in all of the classes that she attended. Also, when it came to the part about the students doing makeup, Barbizon told the ** kids in the class to bring their own makeup. For a professional organization, that’s unacceptable. They should have makeup for all skin types. Going to Barbizon can’t be something the parent wants. It has to be something that the child is interested in. And because you’re investing in the child, it becomes a financial responsibility as well. So do your research and make sure it's something that that child is passionate about or really wanna do.
Thank you for taking the time to review your daughter's experience. We apologize if the instructor she had at the time did not meet expectations and will certainly look into this for you. As a graduate though, she is a lifetime Barbizon girl and is welcome and encouraged to come back and retake any classes as part of her lifetime membership. Upon enrollment Barbizon students receive a makeup kit (or skincare kit for males when requested) with many of the items they will use in class. Unfortunately, at this time this does not include foundation type makeup that needs to match a person's skin tone.

I spoke with Barbizon and she got a free photoshoot but we haven’t heard anything from them. The competitions are very expensive and we haven’t seen any outcome from agents. She had 14 callbacks but haven’t found any agent. So, that was a big concern. The staff are friendly but not too helpful, and I’m not satisfied with the experience with Barbizon.
Thank you for taking the time to review your Barbizon experience! We are happy to hear your daughter enjoyed the program and competition and that both helped boost her confidence. We recommend reaching out to the local Barbizon program you attended the competition with so an ambassador can provide you with information regarding any photoshoots and expectations for delivery. Additionally, your ambassador should be able to guide your callback process and provide advice and feedback for continuing to pursue representation with the agents that showed interest in her at the competition. We also noticed that you requested her placement package but we have not received her model card back. She thought Barbizon was a good idea so, we tried it. Barbizon has been Jana’s baby but I had to pay for it and approve what she did. Still, the whole thing was for her to be independent and to take care of this project. They gave her some very good life lessons through this such as getting up in the morning, doing your hair and makeup, not going out looking raggy and not talking about others. She learned to be confident. Even when she's nervous, she knows how to stand and how to be comfortable with her arms and hands. My kids have been going to different places, swimming, skating, and finally, they kind of wanted to go to modeling. I started talking to people, and then I started googling and I called Barbizon. They were coming to University of Maryland and then they invited us there. And from there, we followed through. My kids learn fast and they don’t just listen to what people tell them. If you tell them one point today, they will be knowing 10 things by tomorrow about what they heard. They don’t just sit there and wait for people. They follow and do their own additional work too. So, not only what they hear there, they try to learn and understand what they wanna do.
For guidance reason, my kids didn't mind staying there. They gained a lot of self-awareness. Also, the program was structured like that and Barbizon always delivered what they said. But it takes time which I understand. I don’t want something that is rushed and they forget their school. So it was the kind of thing that I wanted.
When they have kids that are more talented than others, they should not keep them to the lower level. They should be able to promote them. But I'm not dissatisfied with them. In my experience, it did fit my needs. Everything that my kids went to learn, they learned and came home. The people over there were very, very, very nice. For my kids, they gave them feedback on what they didn't do goof or what they did good, and they knew what they needed to do when they came home. So, for us, it was what we wanted. I have a 15- and a 10-year old now, and in the future, when it calls for something intensive, we’ll get there too.

My daughter mentioned something about modeling because we were trying to find out something that she likes to do. I didn't really think she was serious about it. But once we bumped into the Barbizon people at the mall, we just took it from there. We filled out one of the cards then someone from Barbizon reached out to us and we signed up with them. I had heard about Barbizon growing up but I learned much more as my daughter, Caira, went through the classes.
Caira did the modeling school which is a great program. I believe she learned so much as a result of participating in the program. When she would come home, I would have her tell me exactly what went on in the class and she would show me the different walks, different turns, and things that she had not known before taking the classes. It really made her confidence level get a lot better because she's a shy child. I can see from attending the classes that she's really coming through her own, which I'm so appreciative of.
I also had good interaction with the staff at Barbizon. If there was a concern, I talked to Caira's instructor. I talked to her one day about make-up because Caira has acne and I asked if she would be able to use the make-up that I purchased. It was no problem at all. My only concern was at the end of the session, I wish we could have had a session with the parents for maybe 10 or 15 minutes for them to tell us what to do next so we would know. It doesn't have to be a long drawn out session like they had.
But it was like once the classes were done, I didn't know like where do I go from here? What do I do next? By me not being into the modeling thing at all because I teach school, I really didn't know and I had to kinda find my way. But I received emails from Barbizon and I reached out to some of the agencies. Caira was able to meet with one of the agents there and we had the photos and everything done. But I had to do the research myself because I have never done this before.
Other than that, I'm happy about Caira's confidence level going up and that she's excited about modeling even though she hasn't done anything yet. She was excited about having her photos done. They went to the event or what not and it wasn’t a drawing after all it was a “interview to see if they had talent” so they went off. They did great because they do have talent. But I’m sure they didn’t really see that in them. Barbizon recruiters got into my mom's and sisters' heads. They started maybe June 2019 4K in. We’re now in Jan 2020... And let me tell you they’ve done nothing! They just attended maybe 8-9 classes. My sisters were told they would “graduate” this month. That they’ll call with a date, time and location. Yet they haven’t reached out.
I believe if we invested 4K mid 2019, by now they should have already been actively trying to get a casting or something. The school didn’t even do a portfolio for them as they said they’d do in the beginning. All in all, we’ll be asking for a refund, and I hope we do get it. As to for people seeking to fall for this lie. I hope you think it over and decide not to, because it’s not real.
Hi Jessica, If a student requires training, they will need to complete the program in order to access the many graduate support services that are available as they are for graduates of the program. If you sisters are still students and have not yet graduated that could be why they have not received casting notifications yet. I first heard about Barbizon when I was a little girl, and I begged my parents. Back then, I couldn’t afford it. So, when my daughter Caroline signed up for it, I was very excited that she found out about it through a magazine. She has had a very positive experience. All the staff that I have ever talked to have always been polite and answered every question we had. Since joining, she has better posture, and her confidence has been through the roof. This is what she wants to be, and so, this has been huge for her. She just went to the Southeast Barbizon Competition in Amelia Island, and she received a callback and a contract.

The company contacted me and showed willingness to solve the problem, which they just did. I am satisfied with the resolution of the case.

My daughter was enrolled in acting and modeling classes. After the first one she decided she didn't want to continue (the quality of the classes was very bad). I sent two cancellation letters according to the policy and the company continued charging my credit card. I called them and they acknowledged the receipt of the letter and agreed to refund me at least for the last two months. Then I found that they fought the charges and sent documentation to my credit card saying that they never received the cancellation letters. It's a shameful behavior from a company that according to my experience only wants to keep your money at any rate. I hope you read this review and think twice before enrolling yourself or anyone in Barbizon.

My daughter’s experience with Barbizon has been going okay. They met in a mall and she got invited for an interview, and then we signed up for the classes. We liked the classes and they were good for my daughter for gaining confidence. We also went to Dallas to do a competition, but, since then, it has been a little bit quiet. The follow up would be the next thing to do.

Everything was great. My daughter is more knowledgeable about what to do in a situation. I was hoping that we would get more results at the Floor, the competition. But so far, it's not really satisfying. We received nine callbacks, then we sent emails, but there has been no response. I did follow-ups and no response. It's pretty bad.
Hi Galina, We are glad that your daughter enjoyed the Barbizon program! With regard to the competition she attended, be sure to reach out to your competition ambassador and/or the placement director at your local Barbizon. They will be able to help guide your daughter to ensure she is able to maximize her marketability in your area and let her know what opportunities there may be for her to reach additional modeling and acting opportunities. They can be reached at 1-800-330-8361. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee jobs, as no one in the industry can, but your local school is a good resource for graduates to utilize for access to modeling and acting opportunities as well as guidance on next steps and working in the industry.

We were stationed in Virginia, and there were some people from Barbizon at the mall, and my daughter filled out a form. She did the classes that were required. It was for modeling and acting. She liked everybody. Everybody was really friendly. She hasn't had any experience though. She loves modeling. She loves taking pictures and posing and getting dressed up, but she hasn't had any experience other than the classes. Barbizon should be more informative of giving them jobs as soon as they graduate.
Hi Julie, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We are glad that your daughter had a positive experience with her modeling and acting program! We can see that she has requested her placement package already which is a great first step to booking real experience as a model or actor in your area. However, in order to enroll for notifications, she will need to submit back her model card and a marketable photo for her file. This is needed so that the placement director can be sure to send your daughter the correct opportunities that she is a good candidate for. Additionally, she should be submitting to the agents and managers that were provided with the placement package. This list contains reputable contacts within the industry in your area and that have worked with Barbizon graduates in the past. If you have any questions regarding the services that are available to your daughter and how to take advantage of them, please call you local school at 1-800-330-8361.

I mentioned Barbizon to my daughter and then, she looked it up online and made the appointment. She graduated not too long ago and last weekend, the Barbizon competition was great. My daughter had a good time. Our children need to kinda put themselves out there and be more comfortable talking to people. She gets nervous talking to the agencies but it’s a good experience for her and she really wants to do this. It's just she gets busy with school and I don't want the agencies to think that we're not communicating with them. Hopefully, they understand that children do have school and they have homework, exams and all that great stuff. My daughter has been telling her friends about Barbizon and we also tell our nieces and the ones that has the personality and just loves the camera about it.

My daughter saw an advertisement for Barbizon, and she came to me and said she wanna do it. The staff have been well. They've done everything very professionally and courteously. They dedicated themselves to my daughter and her situation. So, they did exactly what they said they were gonna do. My daughter has grown from her experience and she’s looking forward to doing bigger and better things. She wants to seriously get into some type of modeling. Barbizon has had a positive impact on her. Her attitude, posture and schoolwork have changed. Also, she was kinda shy, so that was something she broke out of dealing with Barbizon. You can’t go wrong with them and it helps the kids a lot with everything.

When we got a phone call from Barbizon, my husband and I weren’t sure if our daughter was gonna do it and we talked about it. When she was in pre-K, she said, “I wanna be a model.” But she also wanted to do something else because it’s so hard to be in that field. She's mid-13, very tall, skinny and beautiful, and everybody says, “You should do something. You’re so beautiful.” And she really wanna do it, so we did and she had a great experience with them. She likes the way Barbizon encourages them to do good at school and not just think about the career. School is very important to them and they always say, “For you to be a success, you have to do both, doing great at school and do your part with Barbizon.”
At the beginning, when one goes to the presentation, it seems like Barbizon's gonna do really good, and my daughter was so excited. They did makeup and a class on how to walk. For most of the classes, we just drop them off and pick them up. When I pick her up, I ask how the class was that day and she would say, “Oh, today…” But then we got to a point towards the end of the course where she said, “I can’t believe I have that class again.” So I said, “No, you have to finish. You started and you have to finish.” I know that not every class was gonna be good, but Barbizon should put more excitement for those taking the course.
Then when they got to the point of the cruise part, they showed us, “Now, we’re gonna do this.” But for me, it doesn’t make any sense. Those taking the course should do more. In the classes, not just one girl’s talking there and saying this or that. They should put more of them to walk and do more hands-on instead of just talk and talk or write something. Then, my daughter didn't do anything after the course. We are from Brazil and we know a lot of girls from there had success here and got in Victoria’s Secret and the like. They did many selections and I saw some but when we went there, we weren’t sure because they said, “We’re gonna select some of them.”

Barbizon's program made my son more confident and more social. He is not afraid to be in front of people. It was worth spending the money and the time in the program.

Through Barbizon's program, my daughter became a little bit confident. And she's calling herself a model. Signing her up wasn't that hard, but it wasn't easy either, and it was just a lot of people were signing up. She was part of Passport to Discovery, and that was a little challenging, asking people to call me back and those callbacks taking longer than expected and emails were not getting responses right away.

My mom and my sister went through Barbizon, and now, my daughter has been with Barbizon for about a year. It was pretty seamless signing her up. Dealing with the staff was always pleasant and everybody was on top of communication in providing us with all the details that we needed to go-see events and the classes. She completed the training this year and went to the PTD Cruise.

When my daughter first signed up with Barbizon, she was excited. She enjoyed it and the staff was lovely. She just finished her class and went to Passport Discovery. I just wish there were more opportunities. So far, she hasn’t gotten any kind of placement company. She is more confident now though.

We got a phone call from Barbizon and it was our opportunity. My child wanted to try it and I’m the kind of parent who supports my child and invests on them. She went on a six-month session and she goes there once a month. They were very clear on the things that they were asking us to bring during the signing-up process and they were transparent to us because we didn’t know a whole lot. The staff answered our questions and everybody was professional.
I was pushing my child to do it because she has to have that desire in everything. In every audition, she would say it wasn’t her. So, I was letting her go with it. She is very reserved so I am overly excited that she decided to do it and that she’s actually participating, especially when she went to Dallas to do the competition. She has also done Passport to Discovery auditions. People like me need to get informed about some things. The rep at Barbizon said that she can continue classes and it was a lifetime thing, but I need to know how to bring her back in those classes because she can develop more. She went to the mall and had to talk to people about her experience, and the coach that she had said she did phenomenal. So that was good and I was proud.
