    Bottom Line

    How HelpButton works

If you have an emergency, just press the button on your HelpButton device. This sends a signal to a UL-listed monitoring center, where a care specialist responds within seconds using the device’s built-in speaker and microphone.

Once the specialist determines your needs, they can send family, friends, neighbors or emergency medical services to help. The average response time is about 20 seconds.

Depending on the package you choose, your device might also automatically detect falls. If a fall is detected, it sends an alert to the monitoring center. Operators attempt to contact you — if you’re unable to communicate, they automatically dispatch help and alert your contact list.

The battery can last up to five days on a single charge, but it’s still a good idea to charge it every night.

    HelpButton FAQ

    What is HelpButton?

HelpButton is a mobile alert device that protects active seniors. The possibility of falling can be scary for both older adults and their loved ones. HelpButton provides peace of mind by offering a safety line in case of an accident.

The lightweight device gives seniors a way to access help right at their fingertips without feeling weighed down. HelpButton offers GPS services, enhanced Wi-Fi location tracking and nationwide service through AT&T. The device’s batteries can last up to five days. It also gives a verbal notification if your battery is low so you won’t forget to charge it.

Where are HelpButton monitoring centers located?

HelpButton doesn’t specify on its website where monitoring centers are located. It does state that it uses a UL-listed monitoring center.

    Are HelpButton’s devices waterproof?

According to a company representative, the HelpButton is waterproof and safe to use in the shower.

How do I test my device?

There’s a silent weekly test to make sure it’s working properly. You should also do your own test each month to confirm everything is functioning as it should.

    Is HelpButton’s fall detection reliable?

Fall detection is a helpful feature, but no company’s fall detection is 100% accurate.

Does HelpButton make a good medical alert?

HelpButton might make a good medical alert system, but it’s inconvenient to get one — you have to call its toll-free number or fill out a contact form to buy anything. The website also isn’t very clear about the costs associated with HelpButton. So, we called to learn more about available equipment and services:

    • In-home protection
    • On-the-go protection
    • GPS tracking
    • Enhanced Wi-Fi location
    • Embedded speaker and microphone
    • Easy device location

Overall, it’s worth considering if you need a medical alert device. Just consider other options if you want an easy online transaction.

Called this company multiple times in an attempt to get information on how this device works since their website provides no detailed information. Need specifics as to how it connects, the wireless it uses in my area, battery info, etc. Each time I have called I am left listening to music, no message where I'm at in the queue, just endless music.
