I've never had satellite before but, should have done this years ago! Past landline issues with other broadband services have been horrible! Always having to reset all our devices was a pain in the **. Hughes Net has been flawless in reliability! I can finally relax and enjoy our service!
The service was exceptional. Tech was professional, polite and fast. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. The speeds were not as fast as we understood from the commercials on TV. We wish it could be faster. All in all, we were mostly satisfied.
I had a little bit of trouble with the internet but I called customer service got it all straightened out. Everything works great. I have not had a problem with it at all and not only that but they've sent me the paperwork so I can get my savings card.
Reception is slow and interrupts often, TV and PC freeze up frequently. Would change providers without delay or hesitation if another was available. Even lost connection while writing this review. Coincidence? Would not recommend Hughes Net to anyone. Very frustrated.
I do not understand why I have a hard time connecting to wifi but I am already OUT of data. From day 1 I only have 1 maybe 2 bars to work with. I find it hard to connect on a daily basis, but it is better than nothing. The Customer Service is wonderful, but sometimes the actual service itself is not.
Extremely pleased with the entire process from initial inquiry to fully functional within 24 hours of first call. It was also very refreshing as an English speaking citizen of the USA that the customer service center and installer also spoke very clear English. Thank you.
It took almost a week, but level 4 fixed the problem. Thanks for fixing my problems. I couldn't watch anything for a week. The installation went great. The 2 men knew what they were doing. The Techs from the support team were great, but I had to be referred to level 4.
I have had to call Hughes Net a few times and each time I get fast service and my problem is always solved. Tech help was very professional and the repair staff. Would highly recommend Huges Net. No plan on replacing them with another service.
He is very punctual and takes time to explain what he is doing. He also takes time to describe the technology involved for our isolated area to receive an adequate signal. I would recommend this service man to all my friends. He gives suggestions about how to improve our connections on our computers and other devices!
The man who came out seemed pleasant, noted lots of things needed to "speed up" our access. After he left we found very little was changed. We still will have to wait some time, during which the notes "you can't access the Intranet" or "you are not connected with the Intranet" will come up. Once we wait, eventually it will open up, but it's still very slow.
I was not told this service would not work when connecting to a VPN- until I called to complain about speed (or lack thereof). I work from home like many people do now and this service is useless to me.
I have been helped with any issues or questions I have regarding this service. Especially not realizing how fast GB get used up with 5 people using TVs, laptops, etc. But I have been very pleased with all the help & useful information given to me by the representatives. I have no complaints at this time. Very satisfied.
Great service. The sales technicians was extremely helpful and the support staff was very friendly. No problems thus far. Was unsure that satellite system would be the solution that it turned out to be. Thanks to all the great staff and support.
When I was first contacted about getting wifi through Hughes Net I was promised on several occasions that I would receive a $300 Visa card. After installation I called to ask how I would receive the rebate. I was told after 2 billing cycles to go to the rebate site and I would print out my forms and 2 bills and mail them in. I expressed concern that my 15 GB plan was not listed and was told it was "locked in" from the date of ordering the service. Now I'm told I do not qualify for the rebate. I was lied to and the calls were recorded. I filed a report with the BBB on the matter. Consumers should not be lied to just to get them to sign up for a service. Very unhappy.
Installation was a great experience. He was very helpful and fast but the actual service is spotty at best. Unfortunately because of where I live providers are limited. I would not recommend HughesNet as a service provider. Again the installation was fine but I am already over my limit and have to buy tokens to enhance my service..
This is the worst internet service I have ever had. Daily I lose connection, and buffer more than I can use. It drops me so often it is now just normal. I would have better service with a piece of foil and stick waving in the wind. It is horrible. No matter the weather.
My husband passed away, so I called to have service cancelled. The gentlemen on the phone was rude and refused to cancel my service DESPITE the fact that a copy of Death Cert had been sent over to them. I was on the phone with them for almost an hour before they would even do anything! Not to mention the price is terrible, EVEN with auto billing!
Sometimes the incredible dishonesty of a company just makes you want to gag. After 3 years of mediocre service and Hughes techs telling me I needed to buy more time eventually paying $3100 pesos for supposedly 50G, we had a hurricane and were closed three weeks. When I called for service, they said we had used up all our time, and we needed to buy “tokens”. It was and had been a scam. When I posted on social media and consumer sites, they punished me dropping service to .01 GB. I ordered Starlink, received the package in 10 days, and installed it in an hour. Now instead of 3-4 MGPBS, we are getting 180-220 with no limits. I now pay $2200 pesos monthly. When I called Hughes to cancel, the accountant Abby ** told me I had to pay for the previous month. Since I always paid monthly in advance, this was another attempted scam.
The services didn't work all that well in my location. Then, when I was moving they charged me another 350 in "cancelation fees" as they said my contract was for 2 hrs. When I signed up I told them that I was only going to be needing the service for 6 months and they assured me there were no cancelation fees. Not the case. I would avoid this service unless it is your only option. In that case "buyer beware".
So far the internet works perfectly and I am way up in the mountains and tucked in deep through the woods. Having internet is a blessing when you're so far away from civilization. Grateful it works back here, Thank you HughesNet,
The Tech who installed the service was professional and thorough. We have only had this service for two weeks but have been pleasantly surprised by the streaming capabilities. We believe that this is the best service available for a rural community.
My new HughesNet service has been really good so far, I've had no issues with my service since starting, I hope to get my 300 rebate for signing up as promised which I can apply for online 31 days after service which falls on aug 13th 2022.
HughesNet is great, I'm not gonna lie. I was on the fence about it at first but now that I have it it's awesome! Definitely would recommend! Speaking of recommendation, I already recommend HughesNet to a number of friends and family!
The internet service seems to be working well, but the phone service is lousy. It doesn't reach throughout the house and people tell us they can't hear us well and that the connection breaks up. Several calls have dropped. We are on the verge of going back to AT&T and cancelling the phone portion of our service.
Just had HughesNet installed in my new home. Internet connection is weak more than not and even when I have a stronger signal, it is Slower Than Molasses! It buffers forever frequently to the point that I just give up. I will be calling them today to see if they can do anything. If not, I will be cancelling my service. I will post an update after talking with them.
Our Internet service that was installed, It keeps dropping service and takes forever to come back up.. And it’s very frustrating. Is there anything that can be done to speed up our server? We are paying for an inadequate service.
I replaced previous provider because internet was intermittent. Having same problems throughout the day. I lose internet regularly. Signal strength is weak. Maybe browser was installed wrong location. Please have a technician come out to determine the issues. That’s all I can say about this problem.
The guys were very professional. Work completed without any complications. The service is working without difficultly, no mess left for me to clean up. I can’t imagine that the service could have been any better.
HughesNet said they would compensate me with data tokens for not having service for 5 days and they did not add the tokens to my account yet. They sent a tech and the service was repaired. Please compensate me with the data tokens.
One week after install, I ordered telephone connection. I am still waiting for the box to give us telephone service and it has not come. I am paying for the service and no device. Did you send it yet? Where did you send it? MUST go to the PO Box. Thanks.
Slower than expected. Buffering more than expected. Internet connecting fails 50% of the time. We can connect to the router without internet connection.. Most likely this was not the right choice for us. Didn't have many choices. But we are stuck with it for two years.
I had a problem with my old provider's cable, and was told the soonest they could send a technician was 2 1/2 weeks. I called you and asked about packages and installation times, and was online in 24 hours, thank you.
They explained every very thoroughly. They broke down my bill and explained how much each service would cost and when it was due. They also gave me every discount possible. I was overall very happy and would highly recommend their services to a friend.
The technician that came out on install and for the readjust was great. Quick and friendly. The chat rep I dealt with for CS on the app wasn't good but someone else called after the weekend and got it all sorted and fixed. She set up the tech to come asap and I saw him two days later.
My picture isn't clear on either televisions I am watching and the connection is poor and very slow it's interrupting every show I am watching. I actually was going to call about this to see what can be done. Other than that I am satisfied.
The Installation went well and I seem to have a good signal. I have however tried to contact customer service several times in regards to a $300 visa I am suppose to be receiving. I guess I need to research. Customer service is getting harder to find a real person! Still I await my $300 visa. Thank you very much.
The technician was very kind, knowledgeable, patient, accurate, and successful!! After many tries to connect the television Internet for streaming she was successful and then our iPhones had to be troubleshooted to discover the problem there. She found the problem and was successful.
I've experienced only Horrible performance. I can't make a phone call using wifi. It cuts out completely. Or use Webex, it freezes up and the screen goes black. It is embarrassing.. I would like to cancel. I will be calling to see if I can cancel. It's really useless and slow. About 30-60 seconds just to open a document. I didn't even try to use Netflix; I was so frustrated with it.
I called in with a billing question and everything was taken care of, plus extra help and explanations. Very friendly and efficient customer service over the phone. The tech who did the installation was also friendly, informative and good at his job. Would recommend them especially if you live very rurally.
We’ve lived all over the United States and have never experienced this kind of fraudulent service! The internet connection is poor, as many of you know, but the process of cancellation is fraudulent! I have specific details and confirmation numbers that detail the fraudulence! Finally able to cancel service after several months of hell only to be billed again 8 months later for service we were not receiving!
Do yourself a favor... if you're considering HughesNet, just say "no." You'll be much happier. Why, you ask?
1) Our internet is *consistently* below 2MB/sec download and under 300KB/sec upload. Very rare exceptions. They've sent someone out to look at it several times.
2) Billing is clueless.
3) Customer (dis)service is... well, I would say "laughable" but I seldom feel like laughing when I have to deal with them.
4) More on customer (dis)service: I actually just got off the phone with them because we were going to upgrade from Gen4 to Gen5 in the *HOPE* that it would make a difference.a) The computer couldn't find our number on record (we've been with them for well over 5 years due to lack of options).
b) When I *finally* got an actual person on the line I was told nothing could be done because I'm not the *primary* name on the account. We had my name added to the account 2.5 - 3 years ago *specifically* so I could handle any issues as necessary through the day while the primary account holder is at work. It was honestly less frustrating back when our internet was bundled through DirecTV... and that's saying something!
Bottom line, if you're like us and live out where satellite is your *only* internet option RUN, do not walk, away from this company. Use literally anyone else available. If you can hold out for Starlink to be available in your area, that's probably going to be your best option. As soon as we can get it here, that's the route we're going.
The phone people were not helpful. They were kind though. We were without service for a month. Had to have a service call to adjust device. Our service man was kind helpful and detailed. Told what he was doing and how it all worked. Very professional.
Gentleman came to fix the antenna for my wi-fi. Roofers who redid my roof removed the satellite and messed up my wi-fi reception when they put it back up. Your employee came and reset the satellite so that I could get my service back. The gentleman was very polite and took care of the problem.
We had a problem when our dish got bumped and the service tech was fantastic. The people in IT went through all the problems that could have caused the internet outage and phone outage and were very, very, helpful, pleasant, and explained all they were doing. We are very, very, happy with your service.
Had a problem with slower internet. Called them, they found the problem, sent someone out to recalibrate satellite (caused by extreme winds), up & running perfectly in no time. Representative was extremely courteous and helpful. Made my day! For those of us living in rural mountainous communities, Hughesnet is the way to go. Thank you Hughesnet for your excellent service.
Service person was very courteous and seemed to know what he was doing. After the service was completed we have not had any other issues. This is the first time we have had any problems since we have used Hughes Net.
Great experience. The technician was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He explained things thoroughly but not lengthy. He was respectful of person and property. Will definitely recommend to a friend. The only negative with this experience is the length of time to get a tech to my home... It was nearly 4 weeks
Ordered HughesNet in Jan, 2022, was supposed to get a $ 100 rebate card after 3 months of service. This did not happen. Called customer service and was told to apply online, did this and could not find a date that matched my install date. Called back and was told that the time frame had expired. First of all I was told the rebate was automatic, then being told it had expired is just a bit much. Will never do business with them again.
We just had a huge hurricane in Zipolite Mexico. We were closed for more than 3 weeks. When I called for service the woman told me we had exceeded our limit, and I would have to buy “tokens”. It’s a scam. We got the new equipment from the technician, and had good service for about 3 days, then back to less than one MGP. I pay for 50MGPS, and we are empty. The agent “Diego” just upped the service (they have the ability to do that), but he refuses to tell me why I need to buy more “tokens”. They are totally dishonest, and there are plenty of legitimate companies to buy internet services from. Stay away from Hughes. Daniel **.
Just so anyone can compare: Right now Hughes tests at .53 MBPS and I pay over 3000 pesos per month. Telcel tests at 6.5 MBPS and costs me 599 pesos per month. AT&T tests 6.3 MBPS for my iPhone including hotspot and costs 200 pesos per month. Yet Hughs keeps telling me to buy more time. Right. Today I disconnected the Hughes modem from my antenna because the service was unworkable. I switched to a HUAWEI modem with an AT&T sim card. We are getting abut 15 times the speed of the Hughes modem for 400 pesos per month. We were paying Hughes 3000 pesos per month, and they kept asking for more. Don't make the same mistake.
Very happy with the guy who repaired the cable that my mom accidentally hit with a shovel. He also installed the Hughes dish, he is very cordial and knowledgeable. I am considering looking into a satellite phone now because of problems with land line and poor cell phone reception in this area.
When signing up, the sales pitch was that we would have fast, consistent service. However, the signal has always been weak or not at all, causing us to have to wait for service. When I did call in about weak or non-existent signal I was told that since it was satellite, a number of things could block it. Service never improved, but it was always more expensive. I recommend the service package - techs have been GREAT!
The technician was amazing! His name was Charles and in did the installation all by himself. He explained everything to us and was very professional and efficient and friendly. He did the installation quickly, even though there was some hard digging! I’d have Charles back anytime.
I am very satisfied with HughesNet internet system. The technicians that installed the HughesNet was very nice. I knowed what I was doing. I was very satisfied with their work. I'm enjoying this HughesNet Satellite. I would recommend it to everyone I know and a great service that they done
I was extremely satisfied with my associate, he was polite, well dressed and very thorough, he was very helpful in my question and very neat in his work, highly recommend him,,,, he cleaned up after himself and all I had to do was turn my TV on and start using my internet,,,no problems.
The installer was very nice and professional. He took the time to explain the 2G and 5G and which devices each should use. However, since he finished the install, our streaming buffers a lot and we keep losing the connection.
Service man came out and fixed some connections on the dish but I still get intermittent no internet connection with my service. Said might need new pole dish is on. Should of put new pole in then instead of having to get them back out later.
Should be able to choose your due date for your bill. I am on a fixed income and get paid on the 3rd of the month and need my autopay on that date. Would've love to be able to choose my due date for my bill.
Some conflicts in the installers schedule resulted in a delay of about a day. Ultimately, installation was completed to my full satisfaction. The team that arrived accomplished day. Professional installation and cleaned the work site at the conclusion. The system is working to specification and I recommend HughesNet as a provider of Internet services.
When I called, was asked to reboot system. Always first on a outage. After my son ran a series of test, was told would send tech, the following week 4 days later. I would have to pay for. I've been paying 11.95 for 6 years every month and I still have to pay more?
I love this service. Am trying to get my children to hookup with y'all. The service is doing really good here. We live at the river and it is so hard to get phone service here. But with HughesNet my service is great.
I was very pleased with Adrian, my installer. Adrian was very thorough and professional. He was knowledgeable and made sure everything was working and I understood before he left. He worked very hard. I am also pleased with my services that are up and running.
Had internet service installed several months ago, technician was nice and seemed helpful. Wrong. He did not tell me that box only covered 25 feet (without additional boosters), my house is over 100 ft. long. Finally, my daughter was able to work thru customer service and they finally informed us that the only way it would work is to buy boosters. Bought boosters from Best Buy, which help only slightly, I have never had full coverage. Had to make additional calls to Hughes Net Customer Service, which was of NO HELP and they made no attempts to resolve.
I ended up canceling the service at an additional cost of $500 ($ 395 early termination fee plus $100 for technician to remove equipment from roof). Technician that came out was not directly employed by Hughes Net. He was very upfront and informed me that Hughes Net SUCKS in every way. He also, informed me that my system would have never worked right as the radio portion had move and would not connect to satellite.
Evidently, Hughes Net installers are only given 3/4 inch drill bits and 5/8 inch screws (how obvious is that failure). If the installers want to do it right, they have to pay out of pocket for the correct screws and also pay for additional ones, as Hughes Net does not provide enough to secure the unit properly. Without a tight and secure mounting, the unit will move and not pick up the satellite signal, which is the whole point of the so-called use!!! Would highly recommend that you NEVER consider this provider. I really consider them as CHEATS after my experience.
He said to give him a call. I called. Customer Service said that they didn't know anything about Brad calling. There are no case numbers anymore, so there is no way to reference problems. What can a subscriber do to contact Hughes and talk to someone???
So far so good. Rep was fine and did his job respectively. He did a good job and left. Now if I could find the time to reconnect Netflix we'd be good. Installation went fine. He was a little late otherwise fine.
This will pretty be the same information I have you earlier. The installation looks like it was completed with a butter knife. The technician said that he would not drill holes and ended up drilling holes into my brand new siding. The technician used the cable for the TV which is 60 percent copper and should be 100 percent copper.
This wireless is one step up from dial up. I was listening to a song streaming on YouTube about 15 feet from the router. The song buffered three times. I'm not impressed. When you contacted me for the second time, the representative said, will that's how it goes. Let me give you 20 dollars Month off for three months. I'm telling you again, if I can't figure it out how to make this a better Internet, you'll be disconnecting me. Yes, I'm pissed.
My internet just quit. Called for service, but had to wait a while because of the weather. The tech was wonderful, knew just what to do and had me fixed up super fast. A very polite and knowledgeable employee. Wish all techs were like him. Thanks HughesNet.
Service was great when they hooked it up and all that. I have the minimum amount I can get so it does slow down a bit. I play some games on my Xbox but I generally play offline. I do not play online, I watch some Hulu, some Netflix.
I’m only on my first week of service, & have had no issues. My previous service was for 10+ years & they changed hands 3-4x. Customer service was terrible with them, after the 4 customer service call, with no resolution I decided to change companies.
Tech reset it and I hope there is no more problems. This is modem number 2 or 3 in just a few years. Quality control maybe? Sure wish my speeds were higher than about 25 bps as get buffering as watch some investment webinars, and some Youtube. Maybe cable at 100 bps will move up my street.
Unfriendly process for accessing voicemail, no one to contact with EASE. Before that an employee called.."Brian"...about satisfaction regarding internet. My cellphone is sketchy at our house. He tried to tell me what I should do with the modem, the the line cut off and he didn’t call back. I tried to call him with the voip line, it was down...out the gateway, was experiencing weather issues. The appropriate response, in my 68 y.o. mind is a FREE tech visit to resolve all of this.
Only had it 2 weeks. Because we live in a rural area we were forced to get HughesNet once again after a bad experience in California 8 years ago. We get kicked off when streaming Netflix shows or it buffers so much we can't watch. For the amount of money it's very frustrating.
The technician was wonderful. He was here when he said he would be and he had my internet up and running in less than an hour and he explained everything to me in order to get started using my internet.
Tech knew what to do. Fixed everything. I now have wifi and internet. The tech had to climb on the roof of my house. He did a great job. Everything worked the first time he made adjustments. Thank you very much.
After quite a bit of time on the phone, changing settings, etc., the buffering is still apparent and unacceptable. I wish to escalate and discuss my contract options. Had I been aware of buffering issues before entering the contract, I would have stayed with the local internet company.
When I called about a problem I had to disconnect from my Dad who was deceased and put it in my name. I have changed several things and this was not a problem before. All that said I was told I had to pay 14.95 and I guess that was from then to billing. The man I spoke to said he would keep my service until they disconnected it. It disconnected and so I think I overpaid my bill. Could you please check on this for me.
The workers were VERY professional, made an appointment immediately when the found they could not fix my problem remotely. The appointment went excellent. The tech followed it through until he knew what the problem was and immediately fixed it. Although it required more than he thought it would, he had everything he needed and stayed until it was tested and working correctly. Thank You, Hughes Net and I will recommend you to family and friends.
Thank you very much for your comment. We have shared this feedback with our installation department. Thank you for continuing to choose HughesNet as your service provider.
At first it was doing great. Now it's running slow and it's not because I have went over my data. It buffers quite a bit. Other than that I am very happy with the service. I wouldn't do business with anyone else.
Thank you for your comment.
Friendly and knowledgeable installer. Also set up our devices. The service was done in a timely manner, trash picked up, and furniture would back in place. The technicians let us know they were on the way and was on time.
We have passed your comment on to our installation department. Thank you for continuing to be a HughesNet customer.
The technician was very professional, courteous and helpful. He answered all my questions honestly. I wish I signed up with Hughes net a lot sooner. I really enjoy using this service! And it’s a lot more affordable than I thought it would ever be!
We have passed your comment on to our installation department. Thank you for continuing to be a HughesNet customer.
It’s nice not to have to worry about usage, but the speed is slower than my Verizon jet pack. I thought the speed would be faster. Plus the price is more expensive. I have internet access, but it isn’t what I had hoped.
He was so helpful and professional. He made sure I was comfortable and knowledgeable with the system before he left. He was also friendly and very quickly had us all setup and ready to work. And he did it all in the rain!
I was having a lot of "not connected - no internet" warnings on my computer and video streaming kept buffering. I put tin foil around the router and set up the wifi repeater which helped but it still isn't reliable. Frequently I can't send photos with texts on my phone while in the house in the evening. There aren't many choices for internet in this area so I'm glad I have it but I can't give it a high rating.
Technician arrived timely and did a good job installing. Testing of the network proved it worked. I have noticed that the network speed is slightly slow. We will attempt to make it faster. Doing research on how to make it faster. Have a good day.
Glitches with delays. Installation was awesome. Just expected better quality internet. Tds service was faster without any downloading issues.. Hopefully it's just a connection issue when installed.. Please look into this problem. Or send a technician out if my set up needs tweaked. I don't mind some rebooting but not all the time. And when using wifi for cell calls. It's very poor quality as well. Glitches a lot and connection quality always shows as poor or unable to connect. Hopefully both issues can be resolved. Thanks.
So far the internet service is fine, however, I cannot open the file that y'all want me to download called Myhughesnet.com. Please send me one that is a little more user friendly. The log in for the myhughesnet.com will not let me use the "forgot my password" or user name.
The service works better than we expected. We are very pleased so far. The installation went well and it seems to works as promised. Although my wife does have some lag time when trying to work from home so we hope that in the future if the speed increases that would be great.
Did not have any internet and contacted HughesNet. They said they could get a repairman out the next day @ 11:00 AM. The repairman arrived on time and immediately checked the signal coming to my dish. He decided that the dish had a bend in it from me hitting it with my mower. He change out the dish & fine-tuned the signal. Everything has been working out great since. I am very happy with the response of Hughes Net and the expertise of the repairman.
Happy with installation. We now have internet-- but it is not as reliable, or as fast as I expected. It's only been about a month, so I will continue to monitor our service. A little disappointed that internet speed and reliability is not better. This may be due to our location.
My internet was down from 4/12 'til 4/21. When it was fixed (or sort of fixed) I had only one band on wifi meter...sometimes none. I experience slow and interrupted connections. I called in and went thru a bunch of changes brought on by your tech. He all of a sudden said, "I need to send you to another dept..." This dept wanted $ 69.00 to research my computer. My windows research states a bad cord...come fix it!!!
Mike, as always, did an amazing job with my installation. He went over and above what would be considered a normal job. I have used his services before and would not let anyone but him do my installation. He always seems to have my best interest at heart, making sure I had service throughout my home.
It was a great experience and I am just waiting to see how well it works in inclement weather. Everything so far, has been working very well. I even got my printer hooked up and working. I was actually surprised at the speed and downloading and streaming of video.
Very satisfied customer, the whole installation process was very simple and didn't take much time. I am a happy customer. I also appreciate the fact that it doesn't cost too much for the internet package. It's affordable and efficient and I'm truly satisfied with the service and the cost.
No matter what site I go to, it says "no internet" but it shows I DO have internet! If it continues, I am thinking of changing to a different service. Very unhappy with this off & on internet service. For the price I am paying, it should be a whole lot better!
I am used to cable speeds. This is much slower and I have already had storm issues that stopped my internet. I was led to believe that it was faster and even paid for upgraded modem and was told that it would speed things up.
I love the feature of having free data for awhile after getting HughesNet because it’s helped me get several things updated that were really behind. Super helpful! And the speed of internet is excellent for our home. I didn’t think it would be as good as it is.
I am a new customer, the advertised download speed is at 25Mbps, upload at 1-3Mbps. This speed (download) has RARELY been reached and certainly not maintained, even with clear weather skies. It is VERY frustrating when trying to watch a movie on ONE device that the picture is terribly blurry, it may clear up for a minute or so, but the majority of the time it is blurry. And although they say you can stream with multiple devices, this has not been the case in my house of 2 people, 5 devices (2 laptops, 2 phones, and a ring doorbell).
It is not a good situation when they are the only provider for the area. It is NOT fast, it is NOT reliable, and there is NOT unlimited data. Plans for usage in Gigs per month, once used you either have to buy more Gigs in “tokens” or be slowed down. It’s already slow, how much slower. This is not good for someone doing school or work from home.
I was told my bill would be around sixty dollars and the lady I talked to last week was very rude to me. I'm disabled and just lost my wife. The installer did not explain how to use it. I only have one TV installed someone needs to tell me about the system and monthly plan.
I was all excited to get a new internet service thinking it would make life a little easier. When I ordered I agreed to have the phone service also. My wife came home and said we never use a house phone so why have it. I called the number the installation lady gave me and the first thing the phone said is, “are you over fifty push 1.” DO NOT PUSH ONE! It goes through one sale add after another after a few you start to get mad. I called back and didn’t push one and it sent me to another ad then hung up.. Now I am upset thinking if getting ahold of these people is this hard why would anyone have service through them.
I called the second number the lady gave me and the person that answered said she couldn’t help me but gave me this number 866 360-1270 and that did get me to the right area. All I wanted to do is cancel phone served and keep the internet. I was transferred three times and put on hold what should of taken five minutes max took more like thirty. The person I talked to said he would check and see if the installation guy was on schedule and he said that he was. That made me feel better so they did do that well. I rushed home to make sure I was there for the time stated.
About an hour before the deadline I get a text and I glanced and read rescheduled and guess what, mad again. Thinking I’m telling my wife we aren’t going with this company. In my mind it is settled when an hour later I get a call saying they would be here in an 1.5 hours. I told the gentlemen no don’t come I was going to cancel the order. I told him I wasn’t upset with him and we said goodbye. The next morning I called to cancel my order and guess what,,. Yes three transfers later and put on hold. If you don’t mind the phone and don’t mind repeating your information, and what you're calling about then don’t mind this review. If you do need to get ahold of then I included a number. They do answer without the sales pitches.
I was under the impression I was only in a 12 month contract but was informed when I called to cancel (14 months later) that I was unable to do so without paying a $250 cancelation fee. If Hughes Net offered better service or fiber I would be more than happy to stay but with fiber coming to my area, I see no point I've been a loyal patient customer and am very disappointed that this was the outcome.
Professional, courteous, informative, neat and clean, excellent job from start to finish. I would recommend this gentleman to anyone and already have. The maintenance man at the apartments looked over the job and was extremely happy and said that maybe we should recommend HughesNet to more of the tenants.
We had HughesNet as we lived out in the country. While it was slow we could get most things done. However, after we lost our home in the LNU California Fires it has become a nightmare. When we tried to cancel we were told we would be charged for the equipment that burnt if we did not send it back (there wasn't anything but ash, so nothing to send back). We were placed on a one-year hold, which I canceled. However, I was changed for June and July for services I did not use.
After calling several times we were able to speak with someone and receive a refund. Unfortunately, I was charged yet again and had to dispute with my bank. Now I have received a notice that I have been sent to collections for refusing to pay for a service that we have not used. This is not to mention the many many times I called over the year we had service to have my name added to the account and was told that an account in my name did not exist but I was the one paying for the service. If I could give a zero star I would. This has been a very traumatic experience all around and does not look like it will be ending any time soon. My family will never use HughesNet again.
We complained of slow internet. Tech came out and adjusted system and it worked well. (Once) It has been progressively worse to the level at which I called. Your tech did what she could with what she had to work with. I wish I could give you a better report but it is still poor and not what was represented when we signed on.
We do not have any complaints! So far so good! They came and delivered and it works well! Slows down in on the weekend I noticed and some evenings. But for a rural area...I would refer others to this company!
I'm a business out in the country. I tried Hughes because I was led to believe they can do streaming of Netflix, etc. After being online, I had zero internet. I did a internet test for speed and was literally zero. I called hughes and they sent over a technician who found I was on the wrong satellite from the Texas homebase. So even after turning on the correct satellite, I still had crappy service. Still, no streaming. 3 seconds of show, 10 seconds of buffering. So, I called again, they kept telling me the clouds were the issue. It was a warm 70 degree day with zero clouds. So, I decided to cancel.
I was contacted by hughes because of a review I left on the technician's behalf. I gave him 5 stars for fixing someone else's problem, but then in the "what can we do better" I drilled them into the crappy service, etc and actually got a call back (you have only one place to write to hughes and that's where I did it). The guy said he will find out if the installer promised streaming service by hughes to which me and the installer were texting back and forth since I called from my cell.
Anyways, of course hughes could not find out if I was promised streaming, so he could not waive the early termination fee of $745 or the refund of the 4 months at $99. So, I cancelled after four months at a cost of $1145 for NOTHING, NO SERVICE, ETC. Also the call takers are working at home and between the dogs barking, kids making noise in the back ground, it was exhausting to say the least. After 1 hour and 6 call takers, the last guy literally was ready to hang up on me because I kept saying, "I do not want tech support to find more issues, just cancel the service." OMG, this was worse than dropping AOL 16 years ago.
It went very well. I live in MA, but my phone service is in Alabama. I needed a good internet and phone service and HughesNet was able to provide me with the service. I haven't tested it out much yet. I'm sure it will be great for when we visit.
I'm happy with the service, however the signal is a little weak sometimes and it disconnected from the equipments. It caused me discomfort so I had to connect manually all the equipments. Maybe a signal check will help. If you need any further information please feel free to contact me at **. Spanish is my first language. Thanks.
The installer was very polite and efficient. Very pleasant to talk to. He did a nice job installing. He said I had the best reception on the first try he’s had in a long time. When I get everything figured out I will really enjoy my internet.
This is my second opportunity to select HughesNet as my internet provider. I have found them to be efficient in the installation, thorough in checking proper dish and unit placement, the price is reasonable, and I get good results. The installer was superb.
The tech was wonderful and then a great job. Super nice. Was pleasure of working with him and he fixed the satellite a lot better than it was when it was installed. Need to give this guy a pay raise. He is good for your company. Thanks
Everything has been good, but the attempt to register the account was unsuccessful and I find that to be an annoying error from that side. Especially when the service guy made an attempt to give me the username and domain in advance. I would like to just be left alone as there is a regular draft coming from my account.
Yes we would recommend friends and family. The staff at Hughesnet I'd very professional and very friendly. Plus they are fast with any problems that may arise. The techs are also very friendly, very professional, quick with service.
I decided to switch my home phone service to Hughes Net, and upgrade my internet. When I called, the representative was very understanding, easy to understand and got everything scheduled. The technician did have to come out and adjust my outside dish, but other than that, all went smooth and so far, I am very pleased with the service.
I'm not sure what the problem is. Sometimes it just doesn't seem to work for a while and then finally gets through. Maybe it's a lot of people using the system? I'm not sure. Overall I'm happy with the service.
Our internet went down on a Sunday. After working with an agent over the telephone for a long time (approximately one hour) on the following Monday the agent turned in a request for a technician to come to our house. The technician was able to get the internet working again on the following Tuesday morning.
Your company personnel were very professional and I will tell others about the fine service. I was told by AT&T that if I closed my account I would not be able to return. I see no reason at this time to return. AT&T had my computer on a landline and claimed that was the best I could get at this time.
Yes I would definitely recommend to a friend, very professional, was on time and very helpful installer. No hassle on the phone and an American, so we could clearly understand what we was getting and the service. I was very pleased with the service and would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Hughesnet has been easy to deal with and have had no issues with service I’m very pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I live in a rural area. It’s been hard to find internet. They were quick to come out and get it all installed.
I called In because my upload speed was .31. I told the lady that before I had it installed I told the woman that I have to always have an upload speed of at least 2 at all times to do my job. I was told that would be no problem. Well when I finally received my computer and got it hooked up my upload speed wasn’t even a 1. The customer service lady told me to just use the internet for something else. Like what??? This is the ONLY reason I had it installed in the first place. Time and money wasted!
The installation was done quickly and done and professionally. The installer was Very friendly and helpful. He set me up and explained everything I needed to know. The service is fast and doesn’t let up. Even in stormy weather the service held up. I am very pleased with everything so far. Please let the installer know he was very appreciated. There was absolutely no mess or bother from him at all.
The tech was really quick at her work. Was good at the install and didn't cause a mess at all, cleaned up all of her stuff before she left. She made sure the wifi was working great for me and explained everything clearly
They finally came out to my house and checked my equipment. Here to found out the satellite moved. He had to reline it. They wanted me to buy tokens. I pay enough for this service. I have grandkids here on weekends and they couldn't do their homework on their combooks. Internet was in and out. This wasn't the first time I called either.
My wifi never work for over a hour. The connection is very poor. I only have 1 Television and my phone connected to it. A second Television will not work. And sometimes I have to choose between my phone and that one TV. This is the worse WIFI ever.
Always online then off. Have to sign in over and over. Will not stay connected. Offline, connected, offline. Getting real tired of trying to get online. Always on and off. Never stay connected. I will stop this service.

Okay, maybe Hughes Net is great--- if you live in the right area. But apparently I don't. On a good day I get 25 mbps AT best, but that is as good as it gets. And it rarely hits that top speed. If it rains, forget it. On a good day, a 30 minute tv program takes about 45 minutes, thanks to dropped signal, buffering, etc. Worst, even simple Text message drag on and on, and then after about ten minutes I get a Not Delivered Message. I am a captive customer, I have no alternative. But if you do, spend your money elsewhere. You'll be glad you did.
Let me tell you a little something about HughesNet. When we moved way out in the middle of nowhere, we understandably didn’t have many options for internet providers. HughesNet seemed to be the best option for us, even though it was going to cost us double what we were paying Spectrum (dear Spectrum we miss you terribly). We chose HughesNet’s most expensive package ($138 per month for 50 gigs of high speed internet, AND $430 up front to purchase their equipment and installation) knowing we’d run thru those 50 gigs pretty quickly. But hey, we’d still have regular speed internet after the high speed ran out, right? That’s a big fat FALSE. As soon as our high speed runs out, regular internet is essentially nonexistent. The ONLY thing I want to do when I get home is relax and use the internet we are FAR overpaying for, but we’ve come to find that isn’t an option.
The cherry on top is that HughesNet required we sign a 2 year contract with them, and the only way out is to buy ourselves out of the contract. I did a Facebook search today to find their company page to post this review on, and the FIRST 3 PAGES that came up were hate groups for HughesNet. After finding their company page, several of their page rules state that they have rights to remove any comments they see fit to remove. AKA, "if you post negatively about our company, we’ll just delete it." What a joke. #PissedOff #WastingMyMoney Ps: My cell phone service works way out here in the middle of nowhere…. Never have I ever had to cut my WiFi OFF to get my phone to work.
Ok, just seems a little slow yet. Other than that technician was great. Didn't take long to install, even came 4 days earlier than scheduled. One suggestion I have is you need a bigger base on modem, darn thing has a hard time sitting up straight.
Talking with Alex to get our account set up to our satisfaction was so easy and he was great to work with. It really was nice to talk with someone that made it simple and no stress whatsoever. Thanks.
We live in rural Texas where the internet is not readily available and had heard about HughesNet from relatives in Oklahoma. We tried a local internet, but it was never what we needed. We switched to HughesNet and it has been great. The perfect answer for us and where we live.
Yes I would recommend Hughes Net. Your customer service department is very helpful and your service man was very efficient. They were both patient as I’m challenged by these devices. The work was completed and my system was back up.
Excellent service: Quick, efficient, professional and personable. I'd recommend them to anybody. I do not know what more I could say about their efficiency. When requesting a mask be worn, there was no quibble about it. The serviceman was properly attired on arrival and remained so throughout his brief visit. Again, excellent.
My technician arrived within the allotted time. He was nice and professional. My service is as I hoped and expected it to be. My internet service has outshined the mifi connections I have and will be discontinuing those. I am quite happy with my service.
I was surprised on strength and phone connection was very strong. Addressing was difficult, since we are rural and remote. Others were wanting this service and Address was their biggest problem. But technician was great on explaining it to us. We strongly recommended to the community. Then again most are on fix Income too, that always makes a big difference. It was a good price. I was not able to get on Hughesnet to register my account, kept asking for username and password. I was not able to register.
Although I was told my monthly bill would remain as is, possibly lower, I cannot affirm that as true yet. I was told my internet speed would assuredly increase but have not noticed any difference. My previous internet download speeds and net experience has been dismal. The slowest of any. I could sign in as guest anywhere, friends, hotels, grocery stores, library etc. All were exceptionally better not by a little by quite a lot. I've yet to see a difference. Time will tell but now I feel suckered into a new contract with no improvement...
Our technician arrived early — a good thing, asked a few questions, walked around the house and then “suggested” a place for the dish. Very polite and thorough. He did the installation, reviewed what he had done, explained how it worked and asked if we had any questions.
The installer Nick did an awesome job! His attention to detail and customer satisfaction was great! The Hughes Net satellite is working great! I live in a rural area and it's nice to have internet that is dependable. I would recommend Hughes Net to anyone looking for satellite internet!
He was very prompt and polite and did his job in a timely manner. He could answer all of our questions when it came to the equipment and he made sure we was all good before he left. I would recommend the man that installed my equipment. He was amazing.
The wifi service is great. Loads my internet tv well. Also the service that came to install equipment was awesome. Couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable person for the job. The only issue that I have had with the service itself is it loads slow on my phone when I'm using the internet tv. I'm thankful for doing this, it's a lifesaver and will help me save money in the long run with cable bills.
Super slow downloads, weather outages, delayed signal. I work from home and this is not for me. I enter a lot of data and with the delayed signal, slows down my productivity immensely. I spend more time waiting than working.
After numerous calls to improve service and ineffective service representatives, that are from a third world country, I have given up. I live out in the country and my cell phone hot spot is faster and easier to use. It is a scam when they use the word "speed" in any context.
Representative was very helpful and polite. She was on the phone for at least a half hour. She helped me set up the whole process. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs help with registering for setting up an account.
First day of installation having problems, buffering and slow connect speed, three calls to customer service which is answered in India and their script is read off a computer seems like, I was told on the third call which was the 5th day of service that I would have to pay a early cancellation fee of 400 dollars, this service is the worst and slowest ever and would not recommend. It's so aggravating to have to wait on buffering and slow connection on the internet for the price.
It was pleasant talking to a the person about getting wifi. They explained everything and answered my questions. Very happy with the service. I would recommend this service to my friends and family. It works great even at my mother's house. The serviceman was very good at installing the dish too.
This is a HORRIBLE company! First off they are slower than molasses and I work from home. First falsehood they told me is that they work with VPN for our company so I can telework. I had to use 4 days of PTO Time because I could not log in! I had to get a different provider so I could work from home and they said they would charge me 800.00 and I told them I was not paying that. All of a sudden as I was paying my credit card bill I found that they fraudulently charged my card without consent! BEWARE PEOPLE!! I will be giving this negative review everywhere!!
I'm 65 yo and have had several internet companies during my life. HughesNet is the worst by far!! I had them for a year and a half. They would screw up my bill every two months and charge me more. I would spend an hour on the phone each time and they'd straighten it out, only to go through the same thing 2-3 months later. Horrible customer service, slow speeds unless you want to purchase more and more tokens. When I finally cancelled because it was just too frustrating, I said to the female c/s rep, "I'm just glad I won't need to go through this anymore". And she said "well, we're happy to see you go". I'm dead serious!!!!
The tech that came to set up our Dish network and HughesNet knew what he was doing and and had patience to set up all the TV's we had requested. Also I am still impressed on how many hours he wash here to complete the job and then explain to us on how to use it.
Our installer was terrific! Very knowledgeable with some very helpful hints, etc. I would give him my highest marks! Installer was on time and worked diligently to get our system installed. Everything was tested to ensure it worked properly. So far the service as met expectations.
After phone calls to tech support did not fix my problem, a tech came to my house the very next morning. Tech Dave ** immediately found and fixed the problem (literally within a few minutes). He was excellent, considerate, and professional.
Installed by tech that was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. Went smoothly with no problems. He was very friendly and made sure he cleaned up work place and took out trash. Made sure all my internet items were working properly and explained the remote.
I could not sign in. It refused my password. When I tried to answer your identity questions, I couldn't click at the bottom because I could not get to the bottom of the page. I couldn't pull the page up higher.
We've only been a subscriber for one week and it is better than Firewire for sure. Only problem is, tho service is constant I'm unable to watch YouTube videos like I could on the rare occasion that Firewire worked at all. Strange, but only a very few videos will play at all and when they do, it is sporadic and subject to stopping for no reason.
We are new customers and, during these first few weeks our internet has been very quirky...it goes out several times a day, no service at all last 4 days. So frustrating as I am a teacher working from home, and my wife is an online student relying on Zoom and not able to attend class. This has been a highly stressful experience so far. We have a technician scheduled tomorrow.
I still don't get the greatest signal! I got it just to watch Netflix and things like that and it doesn't get the greatest signal but I can still watch Netflix and whatnot. It just takes a while to load and sometimes it cuts in and out. But we live in the middle of the country pretty far out from the city! It's good! I just wish it didn't buffer so much but it's better than not having any kind of internet!
No issues with the service so far. Can't complain about the connectivity. Price is a little high, but there are no other options currently in the location. Is capable of supporting a security system which is helpful.
The installer was very thorough and he explained everything. He gave us several option on where to install the dish with the pros and cons of each location. He did a clean job and was very friendly. I would highly recommend him to other customers.
This company is by far the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. They deceive customers with their false advertising. Their internet service is extremely slow and almost stops working all together when you go over your limit to the point you can’t load Google. Customer service is a joke and all they do is blame you for the internet being slow and then hang up on you. I suffered with them for 10 years and I’m so glad to finally be able to dump them for a real provider.
Service was easy to order, technician was good communicator and very pleasant. Modem and placement were explained well and possible issues that might come up. Able to pick up a much better signal and Viasat. Overall speed is better. I hope it continues to work so well.
Well so far with using that we've had a great experience. The gentleman that initiated and set up our account for us was absolutely fabulous. He spoke with my husband. My husband said that he explained everything very thoroughly and so far we have gotten exactly what we expected to get.
Was very happy from start to end. The entire staff made was great and the service tech during the install delivered great customer service by respecting our time, respecting us as customer and property. The antenna was installed properly and professionally. No issues so far. Only during storms we lose signal but now is good.
Service slightly slow but overall happy with internet service due to being in country. Prompt installation. Worker was very helpful, patient and professional and took the time to explain his actions during the installation.
Hughes Net was great to deal with. Excellent customer service and great response time. They had some to my camp in 3 days to hook up landlines and internet. The techs that came to do the installation were very nice and accommodating. They did their job very professional like. Very neat and fast.
The technician was very helpful and stayed well past 6pm to get the job done and went out in practically a blizzard to put up the dish. Great service except did leave telephone wires that we did not need and an old drill bit but overall good service.
The technician came in and checked my computer and tested the signal strength then went outside and 15 minutes later he was back and said that it was all ready to go. Very satisfied with what he done. Thanks, Ed.
The installer was very friendly and explained everything he had done and answered all my questions. We're very pleased with Hughes Internet service and the price is very affordable. We live in the foothill area and need a reliable internet for our service.
The free installation was excellent. The technician was very knowledgeable and efficient. I’m a little disappointed in the speed of the internet compared to Dish. I thought it’d be faster. Turns out we just get more of it but it’s still slow!
Our internet does not support the live streaming of our TV. We were told by the salesman that it would support our current usage. It freezes frequently. When we reached out to customer service, we were sent to a second technician to address the quality. The second technician was very rude and told us it would cost additional dollars to get them to trouble our system. We are very dissatisfied with the service and do not believe we should have to pay more to receive equivalent quality of service to our previous provider.
The Wi-Fi and internet is average at best. Cannot stream Netflix or other streaming apps without interruption. Always rebooting, and slow speeds. If there is another service provider that is not satellite, would definitely get that service. Unfortunately not that many choices. I do not recommend if you have a choice.
We are very dissatisfied with the service since day one. When we perform a speed test it shows around 30-36 download speeds but in watching a YouTube video it pauses continually. We have had numerous calls with customer service with many adjustments made to the router but it remains very slow. We are very dissatisfied and are considering having it removed and canceling the service.
