Zurich Vehicle Service Contract cost

Vehicle service contract prices aren’t available on Zurich’s website. Expect prices to vary based on your local dealership and your vehicle’s make, model, year and mileage.

The best way to get an accurate price is to speak to a Zurich representative at an authorized dealership. They can help you choose a plan that fits your budget.

Zurich offers multiple deductible options, including zero-deductible plans. The exact deductible depends on the contract you choose, but many extended auto warranties in the industry use deductibles of around $100.

Zurich extended warranty plans

Zurich offers several vehicle service contract coverage levels for new and used vehicles, including Powertrain, Standard and Comprehensive. Coverage varies by contract, and all plans contain exclusions, so you should speak with a representative at an authorized dealership for details about what is covered.

Powertrain
The Powertrain plan is Zurich’s most basic coverage and protects certain named drivetrain components, including:
  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Transfer case
  • Drive axle(s)
Standard

The Standard plan covers everything in the Powertrain plan and adds coverage for specific named components, including:

  • Suspension
  • Steering
  • Brakes
  • Heating and air conditioning
  • Electrical components
Comprehensive

The Comprehensive plan is an exclusionary policy, meaning it covers most mechanical and electrical components except those specifically excluded in the contract. This type of plan is sometimes referred to as “bumper-to-bumper” coverage.

In addition to the systems included in the previous plans, Comprehensive coverage can extend to components in your vehicle’s:

  • Cooling system
  • Interior
  • Exterior

Common exclusions may include cosmetic items, routine maintenance, wear-and-tear parts, tires, batteries, exhaust components and damage caused by rust or corrosion. Exact exclusions vary by contract.

Zurich Vehicle Service Contract coverage

Zurich allows covered repairs to be completed at authorized dealerships or licensed repair facilities. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Once a repair facility diagnoses the problem, it must contact Zurich’s claims department to obtain authorization before beginning repairs.
  2. Once the repair has been authorized and completed, Zurich pays the repair facility directly.
  3. You may have a deductible, and you’ll have to pay for any non-covered expenses out of pocket.

Every plan also includes emergency roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement and trip interruption coverage. Rental reimbursement typically ranges from $30 to $40 per day for up to six to 10 days, depending on the contract.

Trip interruption benefits are commonly $100 per day for up to three days if a breakdown occurs more than 100 miles from home and requires an overnight stay.

Zurich Vehicle Service Contract additional coverage options

Along with its vehicle service contract plans, Zurich offers several optional vehicle protection products for an additional fee, including:

  • Road hazard tire and wheel protection (cars and trucks)
  • Road hazard tire and wheel protection (motorcycles and powersports vehicles)
  • Prepaid maintenance plan (maintenance performed at participating dealerships)
  • Guaranteed asset protection (GAP)
  • Lease wear and use
  • Universal Security Guard (theft-deterrent system)
  • Paintless dent repair coverage
  • Premier dent service
  • Simoniz GlassCoat (paint protection)
  • MotoTect (surface protection for powersports vehicles)
  • Zurich Shield (environmental and windshield protection)
  • Key replacement

FAQ

What does a Zurich Comprehensive warranty cover?

Zurich’s Comprehensive warranty is an exclusionary policy, which means it’s defined by what it doesn’t cover, such as routine maintenance and wear and tear. However, you can expect the Comprehensive warranty to cover your vehicle’s:

  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Drive axle(s)
  • Transfer case
  • Suspension
  • Steering
  • Brakes
  • Heating system
  • Air conditioning system
  • Electrical components
  • Cooling system

What does a Zurich vehicle service contract cover?

A Zurich vehicle service contract (often used interchangeably with extended warranty) helps pay for repairs after a mechanical breakdown. It’s offered in three levels — Powertrain, Standard and Comprehensive — with coverage ranging from basic drivetrain components to most mechanical and electrical systems.

How many plans does Zurich offer?

Zurich offers three extended warranty plans. Powertrain covers your car’s engine, drive axle and transmission. Standard covers everything in Powertrain, plus components like your suspension, steering and brakes. Comprehensive offers exclusionary coverage that includes almost all vehicle components.

Zurich also offers add-on coverage for specific components, such as tire and wheel protection and windshield protection.

Who accepts the Zurich auto warranty?

Zurich states you can take your vehicle to any dealership or state-licensed repair facility. However, it’s important to have the repair facility verify coverage and obtain a repair authorization number before any repairs are made.

Where are Zurich’s vehicle service contracts available?

Zurich's vehicle service contracts are only available at select dealerships throughout the United States and Canada. Restrictions and exclusions may vary in certain states.

How do I cancel my Zurich extended warranty?

To cancel your Zurich extended warranty, contact the dealership that sold you the contract or call Zurich Customer Service. Additional details are outlined in your contract under the “Cancellation of Contract” section.

Still have questions?

Is a Zurich extended warranty worth it?

Yes, a Zurich vehicle service contract can be worth it if you’re buying from a participating dealership and want help covering repair costs. Zurich also offers plans for motorcycles and ATVs, which is great for those with several vehicles.

Zurich has strong customer feedback, with many reviewers reporting positive experiences. Customers frequently mention that repairs — including major issues with transmissions and suspensions — were covered, and that the claims process was straightforward, with dealerships handling most of the paperwork.

Reviewers with high-end vehicles, in particular, say the coverage helped offset expensive repairs. Overall, based on customer feedback, Zurich’s plans are often seen as valuable for maintaining and repairing vehicles.

Zurich Vehicle Service Contract video review

zurich vehicle service contract video review
Robert: Hello, my name is Robert. I live in Michigan. And I got my Zurich contract through my dealer when I bought my vehicle back in April of last year. I chose the Zurich because the dealer recommended it. He said that there's a lot of other available contracts that you could get, but their experience was that Zurich was the best coverage you could get for the price that you pay and for their service and basically how they just take care of it. They don't ask a lot of questions and they realize that if your vehicle breaks down, you need it fixed. No, actually it was a very easy way to do things. The dealer walked me through all the information, showed me what I was spending my money to get, and said that I once I sign on to it and if I did need to use Zurich, that it was very simple to get ahold of them and to get approval for what you need repairs. There wasn't a lot of paperwork, a lot of phone calls or steps to take, so that's one of the reasons that convinced me that Zurich was probably better than most of them to use. It's funny because when I took my car into have it fixed, what happened was the transfer case went out on it. And my mechanic called me and he said, I have bad news. He said, the transfer case, even a used transfer case, was gonna run $2,400 to $2,500, and I said, yikes. I'm on a fixed income. I'm retired. And I'm thinking, well, there goes a chunk outta my savings. And I mentioned to him, I said, well, I have Zurich coverage. Will they cover it? And he's like, well, there's one way to find out. Let's give them a call. And I said, well, I can call them, and he said, oh no, he says, I'll take care of it. So I gave him the VIN off the vehicle and he dealt directly with them. He called me back about a half hour later and said, good news, he said, Zurich has no problem with covering the transfer case. The only difference is, he says, I can't get a used one for you, Zurich is insisting that I buy a new one, and a new one ran $4,800 and I ended up only paying $100 deductible on that. So as far as it being an easy, painless way of doing it, my repairman took care of the whole thing. So all I did was wait for the phone call and heave a sigh of relief that I was not gonna be out $4,800. It's funny, I've never been a fan of extended warranties on appliances, and being old school, I did a lot of the repair work on my cars myself simply because it was a little cheaper and easier than going to a dealer or to a mechanic. But the dealer told me, he said, you're gonna want an extended contract, and I'm like, well, I don't know. He said, trust me, he said, these cars are so far ahead in technology that the average person can't work on them. And he said, if you have a component, you know, God forbid go out of the vehicle, he said, they're very pricey. Most things to repair aren't $200 or $300 repairs anymore, they're $1,200, $1,300, $1,400. And he said, to spend a little bit of money for the peace of mind that if there is a breakdown, Zurich will cover it, he said to me, that's a no-brainer. And I'm very glad I did that. And it was even funny because I had to get a rental car because I'm a one vehicle family and I thought, well, I wonder if Zurich covers rental cars? So I contacted them by email and I got an email response back saying, send us a copy of your rental agreement when you turn the car in and it's paid for and we'll reimburse you. And sure enough, about 10 days after I submitted that, here comes a check in the mail from Zurich to cover the rental car costs. So all in all, just a really good experience with them.

My wife had hit a 2x4 on 287. Ever since then, I have always gotten extra protection. When I went to the dealer, they said they have Zurich insurance. I went with them, and I like that I never have to call them. I go to the dealer, and I tell them I have the insurance, and they take care of everything. A couple of weeks ago, I had gone in there for an oil change, and I told them that one of my tires doesn't leak a lot, but I said, "Can you check it out? Make sure there are no nails in it, or it's just the rim itself.” Sometimes, during the winter, it leaks around the rim. So, they came out to me, and they told me that they had found a nail in the tire. It was on the sidewall, so there was no way they could just fix it. It had to be replaced, so they replaced it. Having Zurich is well worth it.

I had a slow leak on the driver's side front tire. It was in a sidewall, which was unrepairable. Zurich put the claim in. It went through to get a replacement tire. Jeep takes care of inspecting the tire, seeing if they can repair it. If not, they advise me that the tire is unrepairable, and they would make a claim. Usually, in an hour or two, they get a response back. And within 45 minutes, I would be out to go with a new tire on my vehicle. Jeep wouldn't install the tire or anything like that until Zurich processed the claim and agreed to pay. Jeep wouldn't take the initiative and install and get the claim filed. They would have to wait for the claim to be approved. Driving in the five boroughs every day, I don't have to worry about getting stuck somewhere or if my tire is blown out or my rim is dented. I’d go to any Jeep. My contract is on file. They do all the paperwork, calls and emails.

The dealer was a little bit persuasive, which made me decide to purchase the service contract from Zurich. It seemed like a good idea since the parts on the car are expensive. Plus, I was told that I can cancel anytime, so it was a no-risk type. If I didn't like the service contract or didn't think it was necessary, after a few months, I had planned to cancel. So, I got it. The contract that I have is mainly for tires and wheels, and I've had to replace three wheels, and it might have been four tires by now. The dealer takes care of the claim for me. I would just drop off my car and hope it gets approved, and then pick it up afterwards. The only concerning part was the price, but the contract lasts for quite a few years. My contract also comes with some type of stain removal on the interior. Someone dropped pasta sauce in the vehicle and I couldn't get it all out. So I might try to see if I can get some help with that in the future.

When I signed up with Zurich, the whole deal, including getting the car, took a long time, but that was good. Zurich serviced everything, and I have full warranty on everything. Even my tire got a nail in it, and they fixed that. It was a tiny, tiny, little nail. I couldn't even see it. I couldn't find it myself. They put it in water, let it bubble up, found it, and then replaced the tire. Toyota submitted the claim for me, and that was that. We also had the recall, which was a federal thing, and that was covered for the hybrid wiring underneath the car to prevent corrosion and shorting out. So far, my experience has been great with Zurich. I feel totally confident that when I take my car in, I'm not going to be charged something erroneous, and that they're doing the right thing. I appreciate what they do and the service that they give.

I planned on keeping the vehicle for more than three years and I'd like to make sure that I'm covered for five years. I purchased the Zurich service agreement with my new vehicle at the GMC dealership, and it was a no-brainer. It was something I wanted, and the reps presented it in a positive fashion. It’s a good plan maintenance-wise, and it has paid off. I got a new tire out of it through the dealership. When you take the vehicle in, you just remind them that you have the service agreement and they take care of everything. They have to verify and dot their i’s and cross their t's but it didn’t take any longer than any normal service. The coverage was above and beyond my expectations. It's been an all-around positive experience to have an extended warranty and to cover the minor things that can go wrong. I'm very happy with the service.

Denied claim for failed headlamp. We bought the warranty when we purchased our used 2021 Suburban. Recently the driver side headlamp failed and faced the ground. The adjuster failed inside of the assembly causing it to be unable to be corrected. We contacted Zurich the next day and they stated if there is no physical, water, or moisture damage that the part will be covered because its a sealed enclosed part. Called around and dealerships were back ordered on them. 2 weeks later our local dealer contacted us stating they got 2 in stock.

We contacted Zurich again to confirm the deductible amount and if they will work without local dealership. She asked what the issue was and we explained it again. She stated yes, they will work with our local dealer and to leave them our information so they can contact the claims department. She stated the same thing the other representee did as the part will be covered is there is no physical exterior damage from being hit or in an accident or water seeped into the part. So, we went ahead and scheduled for the car to be taken in.

Next day dealer called stating Zurich denied the claim and we now have to pick the car up or approve for the repair. We told them denied why, they stated the adjuster told them that it is denied because they can't prove we did not overturn the adjuster causing it to fail. Nor they cannot prove we didn't. So, for that it is denied. We were then stuck with a $325 diagnostic charge. Service Advisor did mention the adjuster told him to ask us to approve the tear down of the headlight assembly itself to determine the cause. We told them why would we approve that to up the charge just so they can deny it again leaving us with a completely unusable headlamp assembly. We contacted customer service and told them; we were told by TWO reps this part is covered given the circumstances.

If they once stated there was a high chance it would be denied we would have not taken the car in and used that 325 to a brand-new assembly and done it ourselves or hire someone. We did explain to the Zurich Rep that a simple search online will show numerous complaints of the same exact thing at a verity number of miles and all in the same generation models these headlamps were used. The cause is a thin piece of plastic, adjuster, holding a heavy headlight assembly and with bumpy roads, cold and hot weather it will cause the part to become brittle and mix with the bumpy roads complete break and fail. even with numerous complaints and reports from the NHTSA they still denied the claim stating it was our fault.
