    Called TWICE to cancel car insurance policy. They apparently don't know how to do their job probably and STILL charged me and now want me to pay for insurance I didn't not consent to, or it will go on my credit. Way to bully the little people General. Not only did I have to pay for my new car insurance with a better company, but I have to pay for something I asked to cancel. Be VERY careful when picking a car insurance agency. These people are nothing but a scam. They are now threatening to put this on my credit, which I've been working hard to build. I shouldn't be bullied into paying for insurance I do not need. I've recently read hundreds of other people's reviews who are saying the same thing. Don't go with the General for car insurance if you don't want a lifetime hassle and obligation!

    My vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle insured by The General. The driver admitted liability and the investigating police officer agreed verbally and in his written report that The General insured driver was solely at fault. I filed a claim with The General and the assigned claims representative was essentially nonresponsive for over 2 months. Thus, I had to go to the troubles of getting an estimate, $4,706.19, and traveling about 30 miles to the county where the accident occurred to file a lawsuit against The General insured driver, who also lives far away from the courthouse where the trial will take place. Such defendant, The General insured driver, stands to be found liable for my damages and another $181.00 in costs that I had to advance.

    I heard nothing for 27 days after filing the lawsuit. Then, I received a voicemail from The General claims representative telling me to take photos of my damaged vehicle and send them to him so that an estimate could be prepared. I left him a responsive voicemail that he should not expect photos and I would see their insured, the defendant, in court! This explains my opinion that The General auto insurance is awful!

    Sending threatening letters to cut off insurance for a vehicle when we already paid it. Very rude over the phone, can't understand customer service people because they don't speak English. AMFAM is much better than The General Insurance.

    They deserve 0 stars, the agents are not helpful, they do anything they can to avoid paying, and the rates are ridiculous! Our rate went from $54 a month to $274, and we didn’t have any accidents or claims. The agent had no explanation. They also refuse to tell you what your premiums are before the insurance renews, they just want your money. I would avoid this company unless you have no other options.

    ZERO STARS. I am a, or was an insured driver of The Gen, a BMW to be exact, was stolen the day after XMas of 2022. I had spoken with on adjuster, then another one contacted me, asking for my bank statements and my call logs. I am still confused on what the reason is for them. However, the adjuster told me that the insurance policy wouldn't cover my claim due to a lapse. Then told me my business insurance would cover or should cover some expenses. So due to the 70% of my revenue is tax season, I am overloaded with work to do, can't continue to argue, call and go back and forth with two people, on top of gather all the things they were asking for, I was out of town when the adjuster called. I have already been set back.

    However, the lady insisted on emailing me, demanding documents, that I believe are unnecessary if the claim was denied. Then she says it is not denied, then I get a letter stating that there is a lapse and receive another email the same day as the letter, from this "Michelle" adjuster, saying "You need to get me the documents". I am an adult, not some child, her offensive verbiage and word choices were very demanding, rude and just disrespectful. I am the one without a vehicle, getting Uber to travel over 160 miles twice a week, rt, over 300. Paying out of pocket, how are you upset. I am frustrated, missing money, dealing with these Sheriffs who could care less. And the adjuster, might I add, said call the city cops. I had to tell her numerous times, I am outside the city limits, I didn't pick a specific one, I just dialed 911. But then they tried to cancel my policy mentioning my 10 year old, as a driver that I didn't tell them. It's like, really??

    I got into a accident, hit by a women running a stop sign. This at the Beginning of September. The General did less than nothing to help. Now they are telling me they are dropping the claim and closed the case. They discouraged me from getting a attorney, told me insurance doesn't have to pay for storage and to disregard a witness. Way to go General! I did more to resolve my case than they are. They just gave up! Do yourself a favor and bypass them all together. There is a reason they say The General is not a real insurance company.

    Beware of this sleazy scammy terrible customer service company. If you want to be scammed and sent a bill years after your policy ends go with this company. This company sent me to collections a year and a half after I switched companies. They claim I owed them money for something that wasn't agreed to in my policy. They never sent a bill, email or phone call. Just sent it to a collection agency. Absolutely absurd to send a bill to someone a year and a half after they are finished using their services. This company refused out of good business to remove the charge. Even after acknowledging that they should be better about contacting people about bills and that they needed to change that policy.

    Even after explaining the miscellaneous charge I still feel they are sleazy and misleading. When I called to confront them about the bill that was sent to me from collections they gave me a different amount than what the collection agency had sent me a bill for. When I called The general insurance company they added another $50 on top of the miscellaneous bill sent to me. I then got a hold of the customer service manager and she said oh that was a mistake... Yeah the collection bill is the right amount. I'm sure they would have taken the amount with the extra $50 if I didn't have the other amount right in front of me. Company refused to waive a miscellaneous fee that they send a year and a half later.

    The guy who totaled my car in January has insurance from the General. They contacted me to file the claim on their side. The claims rep has refused to accommodate my expressed communication needs and has FLAT OUT ARGUED with me SINCE JANUARY. After I requested contact information for his manager/supervisor (which he refuses to provide), he FINALLY sent over six simple questions he needed answered within a minute of me informing him of my intention to escalate and provide documentation to his supervisor.

    I've not held back in informing him of how unprofessional and completely unacceptable his behavior has been these last FIVE AND A HALF MONTHS. His last communication flatly said, "I'm sorry that I'm trying to help you." His behavior is disgusting and I'm absolutely appalled at this entire experience. I've had AAA for a while now, and they've always been phenomenal. When I called to file my claim that evening, the people I spoke with were extremely compassionate and beyond helpful. They had the claim completed and a check to me within days. They didn't hesitate to accommodate and respect my needs/requests and certainly weren't argumentative. I'm sure some will say I shouldn't be surprised with the General, and I'm not, but this experience with them is worth documenting and sharing. If I could give this review zero stars, I would.

    I've been a customer for about 7 years, and I got into my first accident five months ago (the other party was at fault). I've received minimal contact from The General (basically all I was told is "you're not at fault so we closed out the claim on our side"), and they're difficult to get a response from when I've reached out. A couple of months of not hearing anything, I contacted my claims adjuster about getting my car fixed, and I was told to get a repair quote and send it to the claims department if I wanted The General to pay for it. I did so. I just got an email (several weeks after sending in a quote) stating The General can't do anything to help me and if I want my car fixed, I need to pay out of pocket or contact the other party's insurance company. Which I naively assumed had already happened after I initially placed the claim.

    I spoke with the other party's insurance company this past Friday, and The General hasn't even attempted to handle this claim with them. Because they didn't send over my statement, USAA held me 100% liable. USAA has helped me more with this than my own insurance company. Long story short, The General will do anything to avoid doing the work you pay them to do.

    God forbid you get hit by their insured. You could have video evidence, police reports, and witness statements. I was told my video evidence wasn't enough, my witness testimony (an on site security guard that witnessed the accident) was biased due to the fact that we are both of color and their insured is not, and that my police report was "useless". They'll do everything in their power to avoid making their insured at fault or paying out a claim. I was also informed that their insured's collision liability amount was "too low to afford your expensive vehicle's damage".

    Good luck getting anything out of this company that encourages and enables insurance fraud. Not only that, but they support racism and prejudice excuses on behalf of their clients along with lies as "facts". Their customer service team and adjusters are abusive and manipulative. Their adjusters will bribe you into paying out of pocket or going with your insurance company to avoid having to pay for damages their insured caused. This company is a scam and spent all their money on Shaq ads, as I see no money being spent on actual insurance claims.

    Filed my claim for damages at date and time of accident, told that adjuster would call me shortly or within 24 hours, heard from adjuster 4 months later, sent photos over a week ago for the 2nd time, then another adjuster or appraiser contacts me saying he needed more photos of my seats and interior as if I'm selling my car. My interior in my brand new 2019 car has nothing to do with the damages on the outside. The other party wasn't in my vehicle.

    These seem like gimmicks for this company to drag the process along even further and also dumb down the amount paid for your repairs, if I knew these people were subpar and had this type of service, I would have never purchased a policy, they sure don't waste time collecting the extra extra high premiums, this is a nightmare and disaster, I guess I'll need an attorney at this point to have my vehicle repaired, I want to throw up, I'm so disgusted with these people, I gotta find a new policy holder asap, I don't know who or what type people they cater to that they feel they can handle things this way but it's a Big red flag for me that says run.

    It was approximately 2 weeks from when I had first gotten The General car insurance in 2019 and they contacted my DMV and told them my insurance had lapsed which it did not. This was during the pandemic so I did not know about this. I ended up getting pulled over and gotten a ticket for no registration as it had gotten revoked because of this. It took me 2-3 weeks to get this resolved because I had a hard time getting ahold of the DMV.

    This also happened again this year (2021). I did receive paperwork from the DMV this time about this so I was able to catch it. When I contacted The General about this they said that this is what they do when a policy comes up to be renewed. I have never had this with any other insurance company I have worked with. And then the last straw, this past Friday I made my monthly payment over the app. It kept saying my payment was denied. If finally went through. Then on Saturday when I looked at my bank account it showed 2 pending payments for The General. When I called them they stated that there was a payment made on Friday, the day I made the payment, and also the next day. They are refunding the second payment, but I will not recommend them in any way shape or form. If I could give a lower rating I would.

    I got The General after I bought my 1st car and was paying a little over $200 every 6 months then one day I was stopped at a red light and some guy rear-ended me while I was Stopped. Well obviously it wasn't my fault cause the guy rear-ended me while I was stopped at the red light. So The General Jacked up my insurance to over $1000 every 6 months. Needless to say I went to a different insurance company. They shouldn't penalize you when it wasn't your fault.

    Updated on 05/23/2020: THIS IS AN UPDATE FROM the review posted on 6/20/2020: This update review is regarding my last encounter with one of their customer support agent. As I stated before, their customer support is horrible, but today I got very lucky and had the opportunity to speak with a wonderful gentleman, Mr. **. This was the first time ever that I had such a pleasant experience with a customer service agent from The General that I had to comment about his service. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He was out of the norm of their usual unfriendly, easily irritated customer service agent. He was definitely way over qualified than their usual mediocre (at their best) to the straight out rude other customer service agents.

    If I had spoken with him on that day discussing possible changes with my new vehicle, I definitely would have stayed, paying a lot more with The General than I am now with Geico, because I would not have had the determination to leave due to that above and beyond rude customer support agent. So for me I guess it was a good to get her, since it triggered me to finally search for a new insurance company after all those years of unsatisfactory service.

    In conclusion, even though I left The General (due to their extremely rude customer service agent) I still felt the need to write a review about Mr. P., because he was the most amazing customer support agent I ever encountered and The General needs to know this, because they need a lot more like him and retrain most of their other agents if they want to survive. If The General is reading this review, it would be a wise thing to take note of the name P., because he is definitely one of their greatest customer service agent they have, and I would know because I have been with them for over 10 years and dealt with many of their agents throughout the years.

    Original: I have been with the General (permanent general back then) for about over 10 years. Therefore, I know that the customer support agents are not that friendly. So, I never expect great or friendly service from them always. But, the customer support agent I dealt with today was above and beyond rude that I immediately called Geico and brought my business to them and finalized my membership and payment with Geico. I am very glad that I finally made the decision to leave The General and will no longer deal with their unfriendly and straight out rude and unprofessional Customer Support agents. The only reason why I still have the app with The General is to make sure I get my refund from the cancellation. After I receive my refund The General app will be deleted forever!

    During the pain of the virus and lost of jobs The General didn't care. Sure they wanted their money and gave me $4.50 reduction. Using ** well known celebrities to promote a reasonable insurance is what drew me in. But $70 a month just for liability at my age 62. I don't even drive the car that much.

    If you set up payment for a date you have to pay it the day before. I payed my bill the day it was due now I face a 400 fine from my state for having relapse on insurance. They dont even offer vet's discounts for my state when other companies will.

    Updated on 06/03/2020: So I posted a comment on one of their post about the price of their insurance. Basically the same as the review I put on here yesterday. Today I am blocked from commenting or messaging the general on Facebook for being honest about their rates and the extra cost of cancellations. So apparently if you don’t like the general and want to tell the truth they block you.

    Original Review: I have a perfect driving record. My rate was almost $300/month. I paid my monthly premium 3 days before due date. I purchased a policy with a well known company that worked out to be less expensive with better coverage. I purchased the policy 2 days after the premium due date. I called to cancel and it cost me over $100 for two days of a monthly payment cycle. They say they break the rate down to a daily rate when you cancel but that can’t be true since I didn’t have to pay $1500/month. The rates are ridiculously high and it costs you to cancel at an even higher rate.

    Never received noticed my insurance dropped me, I received an email 8 days after and didn’t get the “official mail” for almost two weeks after. They never sent me any notification and I was driving around without insurance for over a week; it could of gone very badly. Not happy.

    I saw the ad for the General on TV. I didn't feel like calling several Insurance companies and repeating all my info, so with the ad I had seen several times on TV, I decided to see how fast and affordable this company would be and to my surprise, it was fast, easy, and affordable. I had to send them proof of insurance before and a payment and I was done. All the paperwork you need for the General is on their site and it's self explanatory for what you need.

    This insurance company is the worst! They are not timely as they claim to be - my car was hit, not my fault, I have been without a car for over a month - they take forever to get anything processed and refuse to represent your best interest to the other insurance company...I recommend you do not get this insurance!!!!!

    I purchased the auto policy 2 days ago then I read the reviews. Boy was I a sucker. They took my 227 ambe. Won't give it back. That's ok. They will end giving it back 'cause I'm filing papers. They cover nothing if someone or I get into an accident. This company is worthless and apparently they don't understand English either. I have a perfect driving record for dealing with stupid morons like this. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND.

    Be careful when purchasing The General insurance. It is not a insurance company to use for high-end vehicles such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Their claim department will not valuate your vehicle fairly. I thought that they were doing me a favor by "recommending" a shop to estimate repairs. Please don't fall for this. Find your own shop that is a state certified shop and allow them to provide an estimate of your vehicle. They valued my 2011 BMW at $7600. The "recommended" repair shop estimated the value of my car to be within the threshold to declare it a total loss based on the repair costs. I don't know which came first: the repair estimate or the value estimate but it is not hard to see how easily these companies can colluded. Also, they housed my car a lot that actually buys cars so I am sure that they are going to make a profit on a 2011 BMW for $7600 when they sell it.

    This system is corrupt. I usually fight these types of things but I just don't have the time or energy to do so this time. But please, please please use caution in acquiring insurance with this company. They are not helping the high risk. They are taking advantage of the high risk and those who are less knowledgeable about their rights and unable to afford to fight to gain legal recompense. I really feel that an investigation should be launched into the claims processing practices of The General. I would be interested to see the number of "total losses" they are claiming as it relates to their account holders who file a claim.

    I was recently rear ended by someone that had The General for their insurance. I was injured in the accident and my car was totaled. It took me a week to get in touch with someone after the accident. I tried calling every other day. No one was ever available, all the voice mail boxes were full, and when I'd try the option to reach an operator it would say, "I'm sorry. The voice mail box for 2167 is full. Goodbye." Then it would hang up on me.

    It has been 3 and a half months since the accident, and I am still dealing with The General. They have caused delays at every turn despite me being quick to respond and getting them the information they require. It has been an infuriating experience and I will never in my life even consider using them for my own insurance. Horrible, horrible company. Kersten from the Nashville office is particularly worthless and should be fired immediately.

    Being in the auto body industry. The General Insurance is the worst. Nothing is worse than these people. Just try calling up and filing a claim it takes over an hour. People on the phone don't know anything. Nobody knows nothing. Then when the adjuster finally comes and looks at the vehicle they dodged your call. They don't answer your telephone. They don't answer emails. It's been 45 days since they should have paid the claim on a vehicle we had finished. Just stay away from these people. Erie Insurance is a lot better.

    Do not go with The General if you want to have an accident claim done properly. If you want cheap insurance that works best without having issues that need to be brought to them then you will be fine. Our adjuster Joseph ** did a good job in the beginning and our rental they put us in was good until Friday the 13th of September. We had a car picked out already and were waiting for the total loss payout that same day but never received any response to our multiple calls and inquiries. And why would The General schedule our rental to be returned on the 13th and leave us with no car? Well that is what they did.

    I had to pay out of pocket to continue to rental because we have to have transportation where Joseph ** dropped the ball. We are already up for renewal but we certainly won't renew with The General. We are now forced to wait in the dark until Monday the 16th thanks to The General. Please understand I'm an experienced older car buyer and I've never been treated this poorly with all other insurance companies I've been with over the years. Now we have to forfeit on the car we spent hours reviewing, test driving, etc. and now we are probably going to lose that car over buyers that will buy it this weekend while we still sit with a rental that I paid for, not the insurance company. VERY POOR FOLLOW THROUGH WHEN PAYMENT WAS DUE TO US FOR THE SETTLEMENT. Bad job guys!

    Very displeased with the General Insurance. Called for a quote and was told my pickup was too big and they wouldn't write a policy for it in my State. The General offers vehicle insurance they claim but watch out 'cause they don't specify vehicle!!!

    In June 2018 I was involved in a wheel separation crash that damage cattle fence, injury to myself and a passenger breaking bones and 4 days hospitalization for us all. My claim was accepted by The General in July 2019. Unknowingly they denied my property claim through intimidation and to date has failed to settle our claim stating it's their statutory obligations to pay our medical expenses before any funds be granted to our claims.

    Had someone with the General Insurance clip us with their truck turning into a parking space. Their client obviously a pro at avoiding accidents. Ignored all contact and they will not accept responsibility for their client to fix our car THAT WAS PARKED. When we’d call insurance to check in they’d hang up the phone and ignore us then had the nerve to send a letter saying we didn’t comply and didn’t contact and send out half of the information?! ** company. Pray you never get hit by anyone with this riff raff insurance...

    They told me one price per month and then they found an accident on my record so they would have to charge me more money. They found an at fault accident on my record that never happened. I had proof it never happened and they still refused to fix the premiums. My old insurance company had no record of it, neither did the DMV, and neither did the company they say they got the report from. That's right. The company they said had a report of the accident sent me proof that there was no accident on my record. They wouldn't even review the proof unless I continued to pay the inflated premium. Don't do business with liars.

    I had gotten General insurance for a car I bought. I had the car like 6 hours, and it was a lemon. I was able to return it for a full refund. I cancelled my policy that day, and at first they gave me the wrong email to send my handwritten cancellation note. I get the correct email, send it out. A week later still nothing. I literally wrote them 4 times with no response! I finally call and the woman is rude on the phone... She tells me they got my email, and it takes 3 business days. It had been 4 at that point. She said I would get it soon. So now I get an alert saying my bill is due! I don't think so! I now have to call them for the billionth time and now I have to talk to someone in corporate. I refuse to let this go! I am not paying for a service with no vehicle!

    I have had a lapse in coverage due to non-payment, but that was not a problem. All I had to do was make my payment to re-instate. It was that easy, hassle-free. It was all done with their automated service. I called the next day and talked with a live person to confirm transitions.

    Worst customer relations experience I’ve ever been through in my life. I just got off the phone with Anthony in customer relations and he blatantly lied to me about the app. Said that if you click on pay now there’s a button where you can click it adjust auto pay. There is no button that exist. I have the links. I have the app on my phone. It does not exist on a recorded line. He took no regards in lying. They were taking three hundred dollars a month out of our account for the last 10 months on auto pay. I had my wallet lost and stolen so I got a new card went to all my apps of all my credit cards and insurance on all apps. I was able to adjust my new numbers and keep everything the same and going except one credit card Discover which after calling them they realize it should link their system. If it wipes their system it should wipe my app so I don’t look at my app and think that everything is all good and dandy.

    They reversed their late fee after several conversations with the General and no regards will they do anything of that nature. Never did I ever receive any emails or anything until five days after my insurance was supposedly canceled then I made numerous calls and contacted them with no return in any efforts. They don’t care about how they mess with your livelihood. I would pray ppl think twice before going to the insurance company. I’ve been 18 years with never a lapsed payment in my life and now because of these people I might have one. I would suggest maybe progressive American family or liberty financial. All are way better insurance companies than the general. They may give you a little but they will mess with your history and auto payment every month and talk to you like you're not important. Please look into other companies. I am not just bitter. It’s the best advice I can give any one. I am looking out for you cause they wont be.

    They have you select a due date when you sign up with them, then demand payment 1 or two days before the date. Your policy gets canceled on the bill due date not after it. Not to mention our second month was 80 dollars more expensive than our first for no apparent reason, even though it says we have discounts.

    I have had a pretty positive experience with this company until I went to renew my 3 car tags just to find out that the registration lady have been cancelled due to non verification of insurance. I call numerous times only to get an incompetent person to send me the Letter of Experience instead of The State of Alabama Tag office. In total I called 12 times and I received 12 letters that weren’t even supposed to be sent to me. Since I couldn’t get my insurance company to verify, even though I had all the proof, I received a fine of $200 per car plus the cost of my tags.

    I waited until the last day on my policy to cancel and they have the audacity to try to charge me for it. It was the last day before renewal too. 6 hrs left on policy and they are charging me $60. Even told me they don’t have to verify with states. If it’s law I don’t understand why this company can practice and consumers have to pay fines because they aren’t doing their jobs. Went with Progressive which was so much cheaper and took two minutes for them to verify for me to get my registrations and tags. Stay away!!!

    They have extremely bad and worthless customer service and they don't listen to their customers at all. And then they charge more when you take a automobile off your policy. You would figure taking one off the monthly price would go down. Nope it went up. Figure that. And we have a cancel notice. I made a payment for 88.00 for June. And we owe 100.00 yet for the June bill and we got a cancel notice for June 14. Sobs are worthless to work with.

    I don't believe everything you hear or reviews either. This world is lied of the wicked one. I want to get insurance for my vehicle. I couldn't afford the one I got. I try State Farm to Progressive. They couldn't offer collisions or comprehensive. Some joke. Newer vehicles has to have full coverages. I was out of hope trying to find insurance. Until I saw General. This insurance will help people get back on the road and reasonable price. In order to have business don't lied to your client is simple as that. You want to help people then that is your goal.

    No other insurance company would help me and one agent told me I was uninsurable. I didn't think I was going to be able to drive again until I called The General and they told me they would help me get back on the road. They quoted me a price and I've never had any of the Hidden fees other people are posting about. My policy is up and I'm about to renew. That's how I arrived at this site. If you need high risk liability insurance to get back on the road this company is excellent.

    Worst customer service ever this afternoon from The General customer service team. The General made it obvious that our business was not important to their company. I'm appalled at the upcharge they were going to put on our account so that my wife could talk to a representative about the account! However- The General didn't have a problem taking the money out of her account when the bill was due! Ridiculous! Glad we canceled with these idiots, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

    They are a terrible company. They will have you to pay one thing to trick you with them but once your money has processed they will send you a different payment schedule with a different price. The customer service line isn't any better, they don't even try to assist you, they just try to get you off the line. One star is being way too generous they don't even deserve a half of a star.

    After 6 months of coverage they raised my rate from $742 to $1018. I received a bill saying had to pay $820.49 by December 28th 2019 to keep insurance till June 2019. I paid $820.49 on December 27th 2019. Found a better & cheaper policy on January 7th 2019. Called The General to cancel. The customer service rep stated I would get back $45. They charged me $775 for 10 days of insurance. The customer service rep stated NY state approves these practices.

    Do not, I repeat, do not get insurance from this company!! I got into a minor accident in stop and go traffic, going no more than 5 miles an hour, and their claims adjuster came out to the body shop and stated that my car was a total loss! Mind you, the damage to both vehicles was barely noticeable. I wanted to keep my car and fix it myself but now my back refuses to continue my contract because it will now show up as a salvaged vehicle. I even got an estimate from two other reputable body shops (one was caliber collision) for 1/3 of the cost, and they refused to allow me an appeal process. So now I'm out of a car that I still owe on, and have to come up with a down payment as pay back the balance of what I still owed. These people are straight mafia!!! And this is some kind of scam!!! Beware!

    Do not get this coverage. They hide fees from you, make changes without your consent and will keep ALL of your money when you cancel. They have also falsified communications - no verbal contact with me occurred, yet in the system I spoke to their representative twice. I got a quote, paid the whole amount the same day. General increased the premium 3 weeks later saying they did receive the document they need. If this isn't a scam, I don't know what is!

    I do not have any at fault claims on my insurance history. I have auto withdraw for my payments. I got The General because I bought my current vehicle at night late and the general allowed me to get the insurance online right away. I have had Geico in the past and I was going to go back to them before the next month bill came due. Well I'm going through a divorce and at that time he was making life difficult so I didn't get around to it. My oldest son moved back in with me so we just put him and his car on my insurance. I figured I would just change insurance back to Geico when he moved out. Well last weekend my son got into an accident. I'm not happy with the claims department and their process. Today I decided that I'm not happy with this company so now would be a good time to go back to Geico.

    I called to find out how much money I would get back if I cancelled today. She put me on hold and came back and told me I would actually owe $18. I said my payment was just pulled out of my account on the 15th (today is the 22nd) and it was $345 for both cars how can I possibly owe money? She said they calculate the days of use up to the cancellation date plus 10% of the balance of the year policy. Again my driving record is clean, I have no at fault accidents, my payments are on time and this is my son's first accident and he's 23. If I had cancelled when I first intended to I would have owed more money.

    So here is the gist of their policy, if you start insurance with them and the year premium is $1020 and you cancel after 10 days- you will pay the full daily amount for the 10 days, that's reasonable. So let's just say the 10 days add up to $20, you will pay 10% of the remaining $1000. You will not have coverage for the 10% paid, you basically give them that amount for terminating early. So the claims department sucks which makes you want to change insurance providers and then they charge you for early termination. I REGRET ever choosing this company. I will be contacting the attorney general for AZ, I suggest others to reach out to their state as well. Shaq should be ashamed of himself.

    DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE! BEWARE! I got the General Insurance in Feb 2018 and paid $198/month. It was affordable and everything was great UNTIL I HAD AN ACCIDENT in November 2018. The adjuster was RUDE to everyone, including the Auto Body shop, refused to return calls and hung up on people. My claim was then transferred to a 2nd Adjuster mid-process and I NEVER received any calls at all from the 2nd guy. The only communication I got from him was via mail.

    Mid-December, I received a letter from The General billing department stating they had determined I had been using my vehicle in an inappropriate manner (although I was simply driving it to a check cashing place) and so I had one of 2 choices: 1) Remove the vehicle immediately from my policy and/or CANCEL the policy altogether, or 2) Pay OUTRAGEOUS premium of $808/month to continue coverage. My next payment wasn't DUE until 12/25/18 and I was paid up through 12/24/18 so I CANCELLED MY POLICY on 12/24/18 at 11 AM. Huge surprise! They went into my bank account and AUTO-DEDUCTED $808 out anyway on 12/27/18 and didn't respond to my cancellation request for almost a full MONTH.

    At first I thought this was due to the Holidays and simply an oversight. But on 1/15/19 I received their "Notice of lapse" due to Insured's Request to Cancel policy dating my cancellation date back to 12/24/18. Keep in mind, MY $808 WAS NOT REFUNDED EVEN THEN. To add insult to injury, they then stated in the letter that they would be "reviewing my account to see what, if anything, would be refunded." During this time, because they STOLE almost $1000 from my account, my bills were bouncing and bank fees were escalating! I DISPUTED the UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES with my Bank who issued a temporary credit while investigating the claim.

    However, then The General issued me a measly $250 back of the $808. So due to Bank Policy, my Bank then had to remove the Credit of the $808 from my account, which has now seriously jeopardized my ability to pay for my 5 year old's daycare and I may lose my job as unable to attend work if I can't pay for a sitter! Because The General issued the credit, the Bank stated I have to take my complaints for FULL REFUND to them to settle this dispute. WHICH IS A TOTAL CROCK because The General doesn't care about DEFRAUDING EVERY CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES.

    If I had read any of these reviews I never would have purchased coverage through them! They DID Demand that I set up Automatic Payments or threatened increased rates and/or monthly cancellation which is the ONLY REASON I signed up for it (but I ONLY authorized $198/month to be taken out, NOT $808!). There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company! Someone needs to do something! Do not buy this insurance unless you want the same thing or worse to happen to you! Get Progressive! I never had any issues with PROGRESSIVE!!!

Contacted the general as I still had required paperwork that needed to be submitted and was told I would get a full refund. I got $15 back out of my $296 payment. For 13 days of coverage (because that's when they finally canceled a policy.) If this isn't a scam, I dont know what is. My policy that I received never said anything in regards to fees to cancel but my original paperwork said short rate basis, which to them is a fee. AGAIN, my policy said nothing about a FEE in the cancellation section or anywhere else. They play on words and semantics. Customer service is rude and they talk over you. Shaq has put himself with a horrible company.

    I have had car insurance for a year with The General. I was involved in an accident where another vehicle ran me off the road. The police could not determine what exactly happened but I was not charged with anything. The General would not file my claim as uninsured motorist, which I can kind of understand but they are now refusing to pay my medical bills as well. Is this even legal? Don't they have to cover my medical expenses?

    I had insurance with The General since 7/12/2016: I switched to Allstate after purchasing a new vehicle and have gotten nothing but grief including them charging me 10% of my policy premium for early cancellation. I was rear-ended in September and The General did not fight for me on the claim side. Instead I kept receiving phone calls from Ashley the adjuster asking me if I was down receiving PT and she closed the claim. Mind you - my son has a kidney transplant 2 weeks after the accident so taking care of myself was not a number 1 priority but him. After cancelling my insurance they asked me for a letter of underwriting. Not too sure what this app is but have emailed them to find out and after 2+ years of being insured I moved and they also raised my insurance for my children who do not drive nor have license for living in my home. Horrible company. Purchaser BEWARE. THEY ARE NOT AND DO NOT FIGHT FOR YOU!

    It has been over a month since my accident. I had a woman back into my parked car with her car. We called the police, but since it was in a Dollar General parking lot it was considered private property. I got all the driver's info and took pictures. I filed my claim that night and they sent an insurance adjuster out who took pictures and even they said they saw the damage. Now it's been over a month and just yesterday they had some twerp call me to say that there wasn't enough evidence. What he meant was unless you want to go thru the trouble suing us we aren't paying for anything. I've never dealt with such freaking crooks/scam artists. I hope they all rot in hell.

    On Dec.3, 2018 my husband was involved in a hit an run accident (driver never caught) and we are insured by The General so I had to file a claim. It is now 2 weeks and I am getting the runaround. First I was told that my husband was excluded as a driver on the policy (which he was not), my son with the same name was excluded. Then I was told that an APPRAISAL would be done and as of today no one has looked at my car. I have made numerous phone calls and emails to my adjuster and she is not returning calls or emails. I am having to pay out of pocket for a rental and have had to pay for a tow truck, all at my own expense right before Christmas. Beware! This company is a nightmare to deal with. I do not recommend them at all. I am at the point of hiring an attorney just for my own damn insurance company to pay my claim.

    They say month to month. They cancel you if payment is not made on due date. But still take your money after due date. Was late on payment. Made payment over weekend. Had an accident over weekend and now my claim was denied. Because they didn't get it till Monday. But thank me for my payment that Saturday for payment. Bottom line - don't make any payments over the weekend with the General. RIP to the General. No car and lawsuit from other driver insurance company. Stressed. Don't know what to do. Merry no Christmas to my grandchildren.

    I have had Insurance with The General since July 25 of 2018. My problems with them came over Thanksgiving weekend of this year. I made my premium payment on the website on a Saturday and later that evening I was on the website and I accidentally made another payment and there was no way to cancel it, and since it was a non business day I had to wait till Monday to contact them. I contacted them on Monday to explain what happened and asked them to cancel that additional payment and they informed me that they cannot cancel the payment and I have to go to my bank and stop the payment. I did just as they told me to do, however the next day both payments attempted to clear the bank. One was rejected cause of the stopped payment with the fee for that the payment that was supposed to clear did not so that payment was returned as well.

    I contacted The General immediately after I seen what happened and I was told that the payment I needed to make will be re submitted. Make a long story short today which is Thursday I find out from The General they are not going to resubmit that payment and I would have to do another payment myself. So I did another payment on my debit card for $299.72 only to find out a couple hours later that my policy was being canceled because they considered the one stop payment I did from their direction and the other payment returned as two NSF payments and according to their policy they have to cancel mine out. They did inform me I could have my policy rewritten however but then I had to pay an additional $458 on top of the $299.72 I already paid.

    What’s frustrating is I was told that if I paid that $299.72 my coverage would be in force. I have been told 3 different things now from The General. To me this company is starting to look really shady and deceptive. They got almost $800 from me today. I get some of this was my mistake however they do not seem to attempt to work with their customers. Instead they just find ways to get more money from you. I need the insurance however after this experience I will be shopping for other insurance, in the meantime I feel that I have no choice but to comply with their demands. First opportunity I get I’m leaving them. My recommendation is use this company as a last resort for insurance.

    I've been with them a year and we have now switched. Our policy had lapsed so we paid the past due, got caught up, and thought we were good. NOPE. Found out in April that my license was suspended! Why? Because the General didn't bother reporting to the state that I was insured! Had to pay to get reinstated. So we have a jeep that stopped working. My husband called to have it dropped. Apparently they dropped my car as well. I just got pulled over earlier for not having insurance! My husband has been paying them. I now have to get my license reinstated AGAIN!

    I got insurance through them however it said my credit card was declined. This was the 2nd attempt I had tried so I decided to stop trying and went with another broker. The General ended up charging my card and I called multiple times and a lady told me to email underwriting so I did. She said it took 1-2 working days. After 2 working days I called back and spoke with so many different people and they all said they'd get a manager to call me back AND NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. Finally had 1 manager KELVIN ** & he hung up on me!!!

    My goodness you guys need more skilled staff members! Called back today to check with underwriting because it's been over 7 days and no refund has been submitted into my account. And the lady said "they need more time." Come on you guys. What in the heck is going on in there?! I let the lady know that never mind at this point. It's just easier to cancel my other insurance and go with you guys because this is ridiculous. And she tells me... "Well now you have to email underwriting and tell them you do want your policy still." OMMMYYYGOD. By the time they get that email the NEW EMAIL, it'll be next year! Talk about a nightmare insurance company to work with. GEICO IS MUCH BETTER AND CHEAPER! I got charged $168 with The General NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, Geico is at $149.00 WITH ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE!!! Be wise consumers!!

    I was hit by one they insured. It was his fault. The GENERAL ran me around on my vehicle. Heavy damage to right front end. They wanted to total it but I was smarter than that. I check the book value on my vehicle. It was able to fix not totaled. They didnt want to pay 4 grand repairs. They wanted to total it cause it was cheaper for them. They didnt want to pay for my rental car. I was out of a car cause of their insure hit me and was at fault. I had to go through 2 guys get their story straight. They try to lie about it. They are the worst INSURANCE ever. I hope no one gets hit by them. You are in for a treat. They are very dishonest, I had to be tough with them. It was crazy...

    Been with them for a year, online it says you can change your due date once for FREE. Yet every time I try and change it, they want to charge me. Then they tell me I have 15 days grace period which is a damn lie. I pay the night before the so called lapse is going to take place, and yet they still lapse me. EVERY SINGLE MONTH!!! I try to talk to a supervisor but the little employees make up all kinds of excuses not to let you talk to supervisors. This is the most irresponsible and unprofessional insurance agency I have dealt with in my 53 years of driving. Thank goodness, I havent had to have them do a claim for me that would probably never get taken care of. I highly recommend avoiding The General Car Insurance. I will be moving to Geico or Progressive.

    6 weeks ago my vehicle was hit by a person being insured by The General Insurance company. To this day 6 weeks later I'm still waiting to hear from someone from the claims department to get back with me on my insurance check. The entire process has been extremely slow and drawn out. Very very disappointed in the amount of time that it takes to process a total loss claim. Several times I was told, "We will get back with you," in a certain amount of time and never hear from them. If I would have had to rent a car due to the loss of my vehicle I would have went broke by now! Definitely would not recommend them to anyone. I have the same exact type of accident happened 3 months ago and the insurer was insured by another company in which was taken care of from start to finish in 9 days. Big difference! For most people...I would say you are messing around with our livelihood!

    I had gotten The General Insurance because it was cheaper! Big mistake! I was recently in an accident and when I claimed it nothing was wrong and they processed the claim! A week later after they had gotten the police report and had done the estimate we were told it was being processed and someone would be in contact! Not only did I have to call the person handling the claim numerous time to find out any information on it I had to call after I had not heard anything from the about the claim. I was then told that our insurance lapsed the day of the accident. I paid every month on the same date the 27th.

    After calling them the first time they couldn’t find my information, then I called a second time and was told that it was paid on the 27th and that it looked like it lapsed but it was paid but because of the 27th being a weekend that’s why it lapsed which made no sense and I asked to speak to a supervisor who I was told was going to call me and had not! Today I call again and I was told that my payment was due on the 26th of every month and it lapsed for a total of one day which just so happens to be my accident date. If it was due every month on the 26th that would mean that I lapsed every month which makes no sense because I never once received anything saying that I lapsed! After talking to a supervisor they told me there is nothing they can do and that it is what it is!

    After telling them I was contacting my attorney he then said, “You can do that and we will contact ours!” Now I have to pay 4,000 in damage to my car because they did not want to pay the claim. When I talked to the body shop fixing the car they said the adjuster told them they would not pay for anything else if something internal was going on! DO NOT go with this insurance. It is cheaper monthly but you will pay dearly in the end!!! It’s not worth saving a couple bucks! Horrible company, horrible customer service, horrible experience! I will be switching insurances!!!

    They put me in debt over $190, I'm only 20 years old. Had the insurance for less than a month, they were so nice when they were receiving my card number of course. But once I canceled to move onto a BETTER company they were no longer helpful, said I owed more money when it was paid and they sent what I refused to pay to collections. Of course the lady heard nasty words from me because she was honestly a **. To keep it real they screwed me over entirely. They are good with fraud, real expensive, and have no locations unless you’re in Kentucky I believe. So my opinion, they are trash.     The experience with The General has been ok. I do not feel extra special when I go there. It is like a number being pushed through and that is it. The insurance does what it needs to do, but there is nothing "wow" or I don’t get major perks. I would change, but the price is keeping me from switching for the time being. So the policy is ok, the pricing is good.

    This insurance company is the the worst you can ever get. My brand new Tacoma was T-boned and has extensive damage. My truck has been at the shop for a month and no repairs have been authorized! Myself and the repair shop have been calling daily and all we get is “we can’t do anything” BS. My truck also needs nearly 5 weeks of repair done. I’ll be surprised if I get it back before Christmas. Also, if you’re a servicemember, stay the ** away. That means you, privates. You will PCS without your vehicle, and The General doesn’t give a flyin **. If you have The General already, be prepared to get a lawyer because they will find any way to screw you over and not pay for your repairs because they gotta pay Shaq all that money for their commercials.

    Was told my bill would be $136.00 for 6 months. By the fourth month they sent me a bill for $419.00!!! When I called to inquire they said it was because they added my daughter that does not drive. I excluded her but these frauds still want to charge me for her. I spoke with a very rude supervisor by the name of Ara. He was useless. The best he was willing to do was drop my bill down to $244.47, which means that I will still have to pay for someone that does not drive my car. Stay Away from this company!!!

    I have been with The General for a year and a half now, paying all the premium religiously. I recently hit a curb when turning into a parking lot, damaging a transfer case. They refused to covered, saying that it is a mechanical issue, and not caused by the impact. This company is a fraud. Stay away from them, go somewhere else. They will find ways to deny your claim.

    I literally never ever post reviews about anything. I just had to talk about my experience with this sloppy horrible company. I had insurance with the general about 2 years ago. I decided not to continue with them after experiencing problems with them overcharging me and things of that nature. I paid for my final month of coverage and then I switched companies. I thought everything was done and over. No way I look at my credit report on credit karma and lo and behold I have a collection for 166 dollars for the general car insurance.

    Now mind you they are a month to month insurance company. Somehow they claimed I still owed them 166 dollars for time I wasn't even with them. So they decide too put this on my credit report and it's been on there ever since. You can't get mad at a consumer if they don't like your services and want to switch companies. So because the general was upset that I left their company they decided too put a fraudulent charge on my credit report which is not cool at all.

    So with this being said fellow consumers don't walk please run and stay as far away from this company as possible. They are scam artists and rip off people who are bullies. I don't care how much money they pay NBA star Shaquille O'Neal. It's all a big scam to dupe you out of your money. This company shouldn't even be in business in the first place. So you people can't say you weren't warned because I'm warning now. DO NOT GET CAR INSURANCE WITH THIS HORRIBLE BAD COMPANY.

    I paid on time with auto pay for six months straight. It’s so happened that I switched banks and in the resulting delay from my new direct deposit from my job, my first month on the next policy was missed and the policy lapsed. I offered to pay right away and asked if I could just continue my policy from there with auto payments since my bank account had by now been straightened out. They refused and said I needed to start over with a new quote. Since my lapsing payment now was visible when making my new quote it caused the price of my car insurance to drastically increase. I got zero help from them even though I had never paid late before.

    They said I couldn't start a new policy and then wouldn't add the coverage and kept trying to get me to sign docs that weren't even what I wanted nor was it the state minimum. They refused to work with me and said they couldn't advise me. The whole time eating up the money. In the end they charged me way more than even their quote or any other company would have for now of the coverage I needed. Same coverage as I had on an owned vehicle for one that was financed. This was them finagling a way to get more money. I paid $168 for a nothing policy that was $38 originally.

    Recently got full coverage with low deductible and paid $80+ approx. Their quote was $90. I paid the $168. Then they said it would be $189 month and $500 ded. Ridiculous. They caused me so much stress. They shouldn't be in business. They were rude and made a simple situation become a nightmare. Since I'm on a fixed income also I only had so many options. They were the worst I've ever dealt with. Absolutely no care for customers other than to get the money whatever it takes!!!

    I have insurance they The General, but since the accident was a rear ending I was advised by my rep to wait for the person that hit me rep to contact me. This person was also covered by The General. I received a call from Diane and after a brief conversation she accepted liability on behalf of her client. She said a check would be mailed to me as soon as possible. It was. I deposited it and unbeknownst to me The General put a stop payment on it. So now my account is overdrawn and I still have not received compensation for the accident. I am so upset and frustrated. I guess I’d better find a lawyer.

    From my experience, I believe The General is not an honest company nor are they professional. The staff I spoke to did not know what they were talking about, lied to me, and did not return my calls. Two months ago, someone rear ended me and he told me and the state trooper he had insurance through The General. I filed a claim through The General, and they denied my claim because "I was at fault," which the police report clearly showed otherwise. A man working in claims at The General proceeded to tell me my insurance company paid for the other guy's repairs, which was a lie. I called my insurance company to confirm they had not paid for anyone's repairs. Turns out the guy who rear ended me did not have insurance, and I had to spend two months calling The General and my insurance company to finally get the truth and access to coverage.

    I recently filed an insurance claim on August 30th of 2018 where my vehicle struck a curb and no other vehicle. It is now October 5th and my insurance claim is now in the investigative section and my vehicle is not been repaired. My investigator initially asked for my schedule at work and my phone records. Next my investigator ask for the address phone number and name of my supervisor. It has now been well over a month and my vehicle is nowhere near being prepared or repaired. My investigator does not even live in my city or county and is not able to visit for an interview.

    I am not sure why my claim is taking so long when I have insurance and I have a low deductible. I do not believe that any insurance company should take 35 day without the vehicle being repaired. The general is by far the worst Insurance Company in the world with no customer service. I think there needs to be more oversight of Adjusters.

    My vehicle was hit on Sept. 4, 2018 by Mr.__________ of ______ Winterpock Rd.Chesterfield, VA. He was deemed to be at fault - Chesterfield Police report # **. This individual was issued a summons for reckless driving in addition to 2 other offenses. I have been going round and round with The General Ins. co. since this happened - my vehicle a 2010 Ford Explorer has been repaired as of today Sept. 28, 2018 and I was told by Caliber Collusion, 2820 Hull St. Richmond, VA 804-233-5446 that they cannot release my car because they haven't received any confirmation of payment or any money from The General.

    I have been trying to speak with The General's claims adjuster, Lauren ** 844-327-9870 ** to no avail. I keep getting voicemail and no response. This also applies to email, no response. I have also called the corporate office and was told that this adjuster and her partner were either on the phone or have left the building.

    I was authorized a rental vehicle on Sept. 5, 2018 for what was supposed to be the duration of the repair process. This authorization was canceled on Sept. 26, 2018 when in fact my car was still in the body shop. I tried calling to explain that my car wasn't finished and that I needed to extend the rental and got nowhere, neither Ms. ** nor her supervisor ever got back to me. I subsequently was forced to return the rental or face paying for it out of pocket. I have lost a considerable amount of business as a result of this. Please let me know how to proceed.

    Awful. I am losing my license for three months because of their horrible lack of customer skills and billing practices. But most importantly because they have liars for reps. They say that everything is fine we took care of it come to find out that was a lie. Wish I would have read these reviews before going with them. I will be seeing a lawyer about this lemon company. Anyone wanna join. I talked to other insurance companies and they are definitely in the wrong here. Run while you can.     This company is a thief. I started a new policy Feb 2018 for two cars, a 17 Elantra and a 15 Elantra which are both financed. When financed you need full coverage. I told them clear as day both cars need full coverage and I gave them the name of the finance company. My payment was perfect for us until Aug 2018 it increased by $80+ which I thought was because I removed the 2015 and added a 2013. Now it’s Sept and come to find out the original payment was low because these morons only had a Liability on one car. REALLY? DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW THE LAWS? Bye bye. I’m back with Liberty Mutual where I was for the past 24 yrs. I guess the grass really isn’t greener on the other side.

    Don't get The General as your insurance. They don't care about you or what happened. They seem to care more about paying the other companies JUST TO RAISE YOUR RATES. First of all the entire time they kept talking to me like I was a stranger. It made me feel real upset that they kept asking me my name, what car I drove, what year it is. REALLY? You are my insurance and you don't know what car I drive, my name, or where I live?

    They asked me from person to person as I made my way from one claims to the other. Then come to find out that "even though the driver was not supposed to be driving that car/his name is not on the insurance. They will still pay and raise my rates. I was backing out of a parking lot and he spun out of nowhere and hit my car; but it's MY FAULT because I was backing out. I feel bad that I paid for the rest of the year. I am going to switch. I felt so cheated like they don't care about their customers, anything to raise your own rates is all they care about.

    I asked why my premium increased. I was told it was because I moved. That's a reason??? They kept saying the same thing over and over. I moved to a less congested area a MILE from where I was before, less crime, and my car is now parked inside of a garage. I asked how underwriting came up with an increase simply because I moved. Their response? "Underwriting doesn't answer those kinds of questions". I asked, "Can someone answer the question intelligently?" Their response "the answer is that your premium increased because you moved". BYE BYE GENERAL!!

    My wife and I purchased insurance for her and myself with General. We went along several months paying the agreed upon rate, only to call in to make a payment one month and have them state that we owed them $400 MORE than our monthly payment. Was due to their running some sort of Nexus scan and they claimed we had a street kid that we had let use our address to get some mail that he needed living with us and had hiked our rate accordingly since he had such a bad driving record. The boy had never touched one of our vehicles.

    We had received a cancellation notice stating that our insurance would be canceled at the end of the month. When I called a few days before the end of the month, they refused to remove the extra charges, so I informed them that I was going to get insurance elsewhere. I then got insurance through Geico (at half the rate of the General). Now, several months later, they've turned us into collections for a month's worth of insurance that we didn't have! As far as I concerned, what they're doing is nothing short of organized crime. I now cringe every time I see that little thief and his cohort in crime Shaq O'Neil come on the TV and try to con more unsuspecting folks into their scam.

    I had a policy for a year, at renewal time they increased my rates $10 per month for no reason. I had no accidents nor tickets. I researched other insurance options and found out I was paying way too much! I ended up getting a policy at Nationwide with a little better coverage, including roadside assistance for less than half than what I was paying on my original policy with The General! I was amazed. Then I felt dumb that when I originally bought The General policy I used one of those sites that supposedly check all sites for the best rates, but actually it only checks the 4-5 that pay to be on the site. Live and learn, and now I pay a whole lot less!

    This company does not have the minimal idea of what customer service means. My vehicle was involved in crash where the other party was at fault. I started the claim process with The General, and they would not return calls or emails in a timely manner. The General asked me to have my vehicle at the repair center and ensure all parts were ordered before I drop my car; however, while the collision center and I followed their instructions, one part was defective and needed to be returned. The general would not extend the rental car while the exchange because "per their policy" the collision center should be responsible for the defective part and exchange time. Stay away from this company! And if you run into a situation like mine, where the other party has The General, I would recommend to get legal advice.

    I started my insurance with The General on the 30th of June which my monthly was going to be 121 with a downpayment of 186. Five days later I called to add another vehicle which let me tell you was a headache of its own. Well with me adding another car which was only liability my monthly went up to 305. So I decided to cancel. When I cancelled I thought I’d get most of my money back but was I wrong. Coverage for 4 and a half days costed me 120. They charged me a month payment for 5 days coverage. Never will I even consider this company for insurance. Their system sucks and they will rip you off. Look elsewhere people unless you can afford to lose money for nothing.

    Beware of this company. They raised my rates so, I canceled & did not renew back with them. I got another insurance policy with their competitors. They started charging me all sorts of fees for services that they never provided, to or for me after my policy had ended. They put me into collections & threatened to ruin my credit unless I paid their made up charges. I disputed so many times with this company & their collection company to get nowhere with them. They eventually ruined my credit because I did not pay their ransom (made up charges). I am in the process of legal counsel to hold this company accountable for what they have done & the damages they caused. Please be very careful with this company & do your homework. I am a very very upset person with them & want to get word out of how they are.

    Shaq should be ashamed! Two vehicles - paid coverage for a year. Ran over debris and it’s been NINE weeks. I didn’t get rental coverage or I’m SURE my car would be fixed by now. I noticed that the GOOD reviews here have never filed a claim. I hope you don’t have to go through the General’s BS when you need them. Does it REALLY take over TWO months to get your vehicle fixed? I’ve now contacted the WA State Insurance Commissioner. I’m betting The General will do their job now.

    I started with The General in 2015. I had 2 vehicles on my policy. A 2006 Chevy Express and a 2008 Mazda CX-7. On Dec 16 2016 I donated the Chevy Express to Kars4Kids. I called The General telling them the van was no longer on the road. I donated the van to Kars4Kids. I was reading my policy for some reason. Around 08/2017 the van is still on my policy. I call The General. Really po'd it must of been a mistake. A month ago in July 2018 the van is still on my policy. I think to myself there is something going on here. By keeping the second vehicle on the road they are receiving payment for that while knowing that the

    vehicle will never have a claim because it is not on the road. I have a feeling I am not the only one this happened to. Why else would an insurance not take the vehicle off the road, I have a feeling there might be enough people to start a class action.

Every rep I speak with says ‘that’s what they do...’ We get huge numbers of complaints but nothing changes and yes it’s a Mickey Mouse company.     Policy stated 33.00 premium payment. Invoice states 33.00 but have paid 52.00 consistently. Cancel policy on due date and charge reinstatement fees even though should be next payment on date policy started. Asked about price hike and they said they didn't know why it would be stated as 33.00 but when I look at my recent invoice it states the payment at 33.00 even though they are billing 51.00. Very strange practices with billing. Fraudulent practices, no real explanations. Tried to pay bill on 16th only gave me an option for the 17th. Very weird. Will cancel as they quote one thing, invoice same, then bill is totally different online. Just not sure how they do business.

    I would not recommend anyone using this insurance company for anything. I was in an auto accident and the agent with this company has been rude, disrespectful to myself as well as the person driving the vehicle I was riding in. They do not return their calls and when they do they take it upon themselves to try to browbeat the customer into settling as well as say things one way and then switch it around. They also take it upon themselves to make decisions for the customer against what the customer may have said. So if you are in an accident and the person who hit you has the general hire a lawyer as you will not be treated decently by any of the agents who work for the general auto insurance.

    Though true The General is fair with their low rate insurance their claims adjusters are low rate as well. Me and my mother-in-law got into a wreck June 15, 2018 Friday. It took till Monday for the adjuster, Rita ** to look at the damages and Tuesday till I could get a rental car. Here it is Thursday the 28th and I have called her at least 7 times, no callbacks, left several messages and still NOTHING. I had no idea what was going on nor if they were going to say if my van was totaled or can be fixed so I know if I can find another car or not.

    I called again today to try and talk to her and got told she's been on vacation and won't return till Monday July 1st. I was pissed. Not only was I being ignored she's went on vacation this past Tuesday till 1st and no one bothered telling me nor even tried to get me another adjuster to help. As far as I'm concerned I'll have to keep The General till my claim is taken care of then I'm finding a company that actually cares about their clients and their already stressful situations.

    I’m gonna start by saying I’d give them no stars if I could. This company is horrible. Me and my husband went to change our insurance from our separate policies into a combined policy. Signed up with them on June 8th. Was offered a better combined rate to stay with Geico so we faxed in cancellation on the 11th three days into the policy after paying original $90 sign up. Called to see if there would be a refund. And got a big Fat NO!! Apparently in the fine print they keep 10% of your original premium which was $67 then charged us another $15 to process that and the remaining $7 was applied to the three days we actually had a policy!! Make damn sure to read the fine print on this policy before buying. We basically paid $90 for three days worth of insurance.

    General Auto Insurnace was cheap and the down payment and monthly payments were affordable for someone on a tight budget. The payment options were convenient and so was the claim process. However, customer service in the local office was poor. It's like they say you get what you pay for. It was ok, had to wait for over 30 minutes to speak to someone because they on had two people work. They need to have more. I got the office on a Friday afternoon which is obviously a busy time for those that live paycheck to paycheck and use companies like this to get by.

    On April 4th 2018 I was in a comprehensive motor vehicle accident. An 18 wheeler tire popped in front of me, flew through the air and smashed the front of my 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Sportback. My car sits 2 inches from the ground has several factory modifications as it’s a special edition. I pay for the special insurance also. When it hit the front of my car it hit the ground and flew under the driver side of my car. It chopped up the doors and back quarter panel. Of course I reported it to the General. They sent an adjuster out to my home Ms. Tracy ** and I had told Ms. ** that there was minor damage from a deer incident. She had stated she did not include that into the estimate. I waited to hear from the General. I did hear from a Mr. ** an investigator that worked for the General stating that I had made a prior claim on the same damage. I had not.

    I reported the deer accident to Liberty Mutual for Carfax purposes only. I did not ask them to pay for that damage. Mr. ** sent an email stating everything was fine. I would hear from the adjuster within 24 to 48 hours. I didn't hear from them for a week or more, I got an email from Cedrick ** stating he would contact me within 24 to 48 hours. Of course that was on a Friday. So I didn't hear from anyone that whole week. Got another email Friday. I would hear from them in 24 to 48 hours. I didn't hear from them. I called on Wednesday. Talked to a representative they sent me through to a lady. She told me I need to choose a shop and get back to them. I chose Gerber **. Set the date to drop the car off. It was the next Thursday.

    Tuesday came around. I called the shop to see if I could bring the car in a day early. They said sure. I pay someone to come follow me to the shop. I called them that morning to let them know we were going to be a few minutes late. They ask for my insurance name and adjusters number. I told them the general insurance. They said they did not have an appointment for me and that I would have to find another shop. We are 30 days in now. It should have been a red flag to me that Gerber didn't want to do the work.

    Here's why I call around frantically to find another shop for my car. I found Abra Auto Body in Cornelius, NC. They told me to bring the car to them. They contacted the general for the estimate to be sent over so they sent the estimate. It was 7 pages and was 2908.32. Mr. ** the shops manager took me through what all was on the estimate and what had to be done.

    I return home from this crazy day to find a 1500 dollar check in the mail from the General so I called them because of course that isn't gonna pay the estimated damage. Still at this moment have not spoke to Cedrick **. They put a Krista ** on the phone. She is supposed to be a supervisor. I ask what the check was for. She stated she stopped payment on that check that they had dropped the estimate down to 1100 dollars and some change (which is not legal in any way without the adjuster signing it). So I told her she needed to contact Abra to let them know that the estimate had been changed. She did not. I had already signed for the work to be done.

    So a day later I finally heard from Cedrick ** who stated that 2 checks were being sent to the body shop. One for 2908.38 the original estimate and 1800 dollars which I went to Abra to find out if they have found new or any under carriage damage. Mr. ** had stated that he had not heard from anyone at the General. So the work continued. I got a call from the rental car company stating that the General hasn't paid for the rental car.

    I called the General again. Got this Ms. ** again. I try to find out why they would not pay for the rental car when they still had my car in the shop. She was very hateful and not full of any kind of information that was relevant to the claim or the car or even the rental but went on to say that they were not gonna pay but 1100 for the damages to the car. And that she had stopped payment on the other 2 checks. All the while cannot explain where this 1100 dollar estimate came from. And still have no explanation as to where this estimate came from.

    Another week went by car is done. We are waiting on the general to pay this original claim because they know the laws but playing dumb about it. They are still refusing to pay it. It is not legal for them to change an estimate on a car without the adjuster signing it. The only one Ms. ** has signed on is the 2908 32 so what makes them think that it is right not to pay everything rental car included because they are the reason for the hold up. Not to mentioned not very trained on the insurance laws.

    I've been with the General for years and have always felt well taken care of by them. Even when I had to file claims, they were there to help and get me what I needed to be safely back on the road again quickly. They are dependable and has great roadside service. I never had a problem with them keeping up with the changes in my policy when I needed to. Great customer service, always made things clear and understandable for me. I would like there to be a feature like Progressive has where you can plug in a device and it can monitor your driving so you can get discounts for being a safe, good driver.

    I enjoyed my time with The General. Their prices in regards to a person who has recent accidents are excellent, and they do not treat you differently for such events. Customer service representatives are quick and courteous. However, the liability coverage has less than ideal options as far as accidents while on the plan. They should have a build your own option much like Progressive insurance company does. I did find a better rate with another company recently and decided to switch. I do however enjoy customer service representatives from the General much more than my current company.

    The General Auto is an amazing auto insurance company. It took less than 10 minutes to purchase policy. Everything can be sent through email including insurance cards and paperwork. I can change, delete or add services to my policy at anytime online. Furthermore, I like the 24 hour customer service, good rates. Customer service employees are always very helpful and don't give a runaround about things. Overall, I am very satisfied and don't plan on switching anytime soon.

    Purchasing auto insurance with the General was extremely easy, and it was finished quickly. Customer service was easy to deal with, they were extremely understanding. The process was completely painless. They have competitive prices, low down payment, online pay, easy customer service calling, personalized service, several different package options to get you the best coverage at an affordable price, extremely easy to file claims, and claims are handled very quickly from start to finish. On the other hand, I think they could do way better with a different marketing technique. Their commercials are rather loud and obnoxious.

    Overall I am completely satisfied with the policy and its options, but there are two extras that I absolutely appreciate. I like the option to purchase life insurance that is a major bonus. I also like the roadside assistance option because you never know when you will have a flat tire or lock your keys in the car. I would recommend a discount program or other fun incentives. To me this would further encourage your policyholders to extend their contracts and recommend The General Auto Insurance to their family and friends. But other than that, I generally have a great and satisfied experience everytime I interact whether it's online or visiting my local office.     The General had the most affordable policy I found and purchasing was very simple. The processing to set up a policy was explained well for each question asked. My policy was confirmed and I was able to print a proof of insurance after completing my purchase. The price for coverage was within my range. No hidden fees or extra requirements were ever thrown at me while my policy was in effect. Anytime I had a question or issue my emails were answer quickly and always thorough. However, everything is online or over the phone. I would rather know that if there was any problems that needed attention right away I could go to a local office and speak to someone face to face and they don't have that option in Colorado.

    Everything took place online from the initial quote process and selection of coverage amount down to the specifics of the drivers covered. The process seemed simple enough. Being great how handy online everything was, it is a double-edged sword making it confusing as well. Not personally dealing with an agent was strenuous to me.     Their price is cheapest with my situation, and they have a low deductible. All of my information was processed in an hour or so and they were able to email the app to my car dealership. However, their app is not awesome as it is basically a link to their website. They should update it to allow payments because doesn't help when you want to pay.     I've tried many insurance companies and brokers hoping to find the right one for my needs. The General has fulfilled my insurance needs, and they are experienced which makes me breathe a sigh of relief and sleep better at night knowing everything it's taken care of. My overall experience with them is a very good one and I am happy with it.

    It was an easy process to purchase my insurance. I feel safe and at home with them. All the employees seem to be really great and it work well with me. They are so genuine with their caring about their customers! My insurance broker does what she needs to do for me and I like that I can reach my insurance broker any time I need.     Very easy to purchase my policy online. I signed up for an account and put in all of my information and step by step I had auto insurance. It was easy to add or take off vehicles and add drivers when I need to. The cost is very good and they keep all my vehicles covered for a low price. Although The General does not give discounts for not driving much, the cost is still reasonable even when I need to add a vehicle. But I would like to have more of a description on everything I can add on or take off of my account. I do not know much about each category and it would be nice to have them put a little information with each so I can then decide what I would like on to my auto insurance. Other than that, customer service has been prompt in sending my bills every month as well as emails to remind me. They're even very helpful whenever I need them. I like that I can pick due dates and logging into my account is very easy.

    The General is a very easy company to deal with and I wouldn't use another company. You're given instant proof of insurance and you can choose your own payment date. I'm very happy with their cost, their overall ease of the website, and being able to chat with a representative while you're on the website and if you're new to the company. But I'd change the fact that choosing your own due date makes your payment cost more whereas using their chosen due date the payment is somewhat affordable. I also wish some payments were a little cheaper.

    It was quick and easy to buy a policy from The General Auto Insurance. They had a few options with how I can sign up, online or over the phone. And the website was very easy to navigate. They had plenty of policy options I could choose from. They offered me the lowest price a month. Plus, It had a 6 month and a 12 month plan I could do. However, I would like to pick the day my car insurance payment can come out every month. But all my questions have always been answered, everyone I've ever talk to has been nice and understand. It's easy to purchase online and I like that they provide low monthly payments and you can always choose your payment date.     I really like The General. I have not been with any other insurance company in over 8 years and I will be with them from now on until they either go out of business or I no longer need insurance. I like the ease of paying and renewing online and not having to keep up with paper insurance cards. Also, purchasing insurance was quick and very easy with no issues.     The General Insurance Company's insurance plans are very flexible when it comes to different payment options. Start up cost is very inexpensive and they allow me to pick when I want to pay. They also have 24 hour accident reporting line and proof of insurance is available online immediately. They handled 2 accidents very professionally. Both accidents were my responsibility and very close in time but the General representatives were none judgemental and made sure my assets were protected. However, sometimes the customer service is very short and rude when a question is answered wrong. If a person was just in an accident the customer service representative needs to understand it can be a traumatic experience and needs to be handled gentle.

    I was told by my daughter that she was happy with the insurance she had gotten so I decided to try it. I was attracted to this insurance for the price quote and it was very easy to purchase.     I enjoy full coverage from The General on my 1-year-old 2015 Hyundai for a surprisingly reasonable and affordable price. I purchased the insurance over the phone and it was so fast and easy. When I heard Shaq's voice welcoming me on the other end, I was immediately in a better mood. The customer service department is always helpful. Issues are resolved quickly and with a high level of professionalism. Their website is also easy to use and a convenient way to manage your policy, make changes or payments. The only time I've ever experienced any issue at all is with printing out insurance cards. You have to wait for the cards to become available. However, I do not believe this is an issue that they are able to resolve.

There is NOT enough space to describe the nightmare I experienced with that company. Their customer service SUCKED, their policy coverage was HORRIBLE and they're nothing more than fraudulent crooks! I asked why my insurance rates went up and I was told that because they can. I also had an issue when I asked about when they were going to inform me about their insurance increase. I had no accidents whatsoever and they still had the very nonchalant attitude to say "we can raise it at any time." To this day I still do not understand how this insurance company is still in business.

    It was very easy and quick to sign up with them. I received my cards very soon after purchasing my insurance. I went to insurance company here near my home and they checked which one had the coverage I needed and was cheaper. General had everything I was looking for and more at a cost I could afford. I was extremely happy with it. It took all of 20 minutes to finish.

    I love how much coverage you get with such little down payment and monthly payment. They gave me coverage on if I was in a parking lot, and was struck while walking by another vehicle, it would cover my medical expenses for me and my family. They also gave great roadside assistance and towing. If anything goes wrong they are quick on helping resolve it and they have always been easy to get ahold of. And if I needed them to get back in touch with me, it was always very soon and if they didn't have the answer yet, they would at least call and touch base with me to let me know how it was going and what they were doing.

    Very easy, simple and fast to set up my insurance. I went online, typed in my vehicles and which type of insurance I wanted. Got a quote, started it up right then and got my cards in the next few mins whereas other companies take a Ton of time on the phone. I also like how I didn't have to talk on the phone to anyone at all, that super nice for someone with anxiety. Plus, it's extremely easy to pay online and is pretty cheap. However, I hate how they send out a notice of cancellation two weeks before the payment is even due. It's very frustrating and nerve wracking to get that in the mail and go into panic mode thinking I've forgotten to pay the insurance.

You can tell they really love their company and I can tell their company is good to their workers because a Good company like the one I have had happy customer service representative.

    The General Auto Insurance gives you extra time to pay, online services, letters in the mail to help you if you are late. It is easy to change, access, pay, inquire and update policy as well. However, they should postpone payment, have a separate payment and cheaper too. Also, there should be discount opportunities and not charge for every people in the household even if they don't fit in the car. Better customer service and barge expensive late fee as well.     I like that it's easy to connect but not as easy to scroll through because sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for. It wasn't difficult online, but I like using an app better because it's more convenient. However the app isn't good or unavailable. Hopefully they can make a mobile app for Android. Nonetheless purchasing insurance was still easy and they took my AMEX debit card. Prices are fair and you can bundle your insurance in one place. I also like the commercials and Shaquille O'Neal.     I couldn't leave house because of a illness and I was able to to get everything covered at a great price in my pjs. Which was really great. Being tjp I couldn't walk for weeks. Emailed me right away with policy number, always there to answer my questions and good price that I could afford due to a illness. But I hate not getting paper in mail, I wish I could if done more extended policy on everything. Also the old lady at the DMV gave me some problems about the paperless billing.

    I went online to get my policy and it was nice, quick and easy! There were a few times I had to call and clarify some things but they were very helpful which make the process even easier. They are very friendly too. They always answer all my questions and I am never on hold for more than 5 to 10 min. The only thing I may change is the process in getting an actual person to speak with. The "press 1,3,5" can get pretty time consuming but all in all they are very great! Their prices are affordable and still gets you plenty of coverage! They even helped me with adding a second vehicle to the claim! They are amazing.

    My husband remember a couple of questions that he forgot to ask when we first talked to The General Auto Insurance and they were very quick to get back to us so he could talk to them. They were very thoughtful and helpful for what we needed. However, I would like to get a little more for my money especially since I am not able to afford a real low deductible because we are on a limited income. Also, I wish they would provide roadside assistance without it being so much extra. But other than that, they were very quick to do the application and were very thorough and respectful. They were willing to set up our payments when we received our monthly check without adding extra for the week's difference it made.

    I liked how easy it was to sign up. Their customer service was phenomenal and they really took the time to listen to what I needed for my insurance coverage. They made things very clear, concise, and easy to understand. The representative had a wealth of knowledge and made it feel very personal.     I really like The General and my overall experience with them has been good. I have been with them for two yeards and haven't had any problems. I like the fact the insurance is less than one hundred dollars and it covers my husband and myself. And it is easy to pay. I don't have to go thru a bunch of problems in order to pay my bill. I can just log into the website and bam payment completed. But I wish that more was covered on my policy. I have liability and I don't have everything covered that I would like.

    I always get low rates which I love and they also reimburse every time you do not have a accident. I had one accident and they have sent me close to 10,000 in six years I been with them. Their customer service is really excellent and they also have a very nice attitude. However, sometimes it takes a long time for them to come to the phone and they are overrated. Also, sometimes it take like 4 or 5 months just receive a check. Nevertheless, The General is good and very top of the line. My husband is also with The General and we been happy and do not plan to change it no time soon.

    The General agents have been nice, professional and very helpful when I have any questions. They are available twenty four seven and not in any hurry to get me off the phone. Online is quick and easy too if I don't want to call on the phone. I just wish a little more was included such as towing in the liability package instead of paying more the following year for it. Also, I would like to see my rates go down considering I am into my second year with them.

    The General's employees are always friendly, and very helpful. I never have to worry that someone won't do their best to help me. It's nice that they make it very easy and convenient to pay my bill without having to speak with someone on the phone, send a payment, or go somewhere to make a payment. I can just log in to my account on their website and pay my bill. My payments are always processed in a timely manner and I always receive my payment receipt via email immediately after my payment is made.

    However, it is slightly frustrating that my monthly fee goes up a few dollars every year that I renew my policy. Especially because of the fact that I haven't received any tickets or been cited for anything since I became a customer almost three years ago. I feel that customers should pay the amount they were originally quoted as long as they don't receive any marks on their driving record. On the other hand, they offer the most affordable insurance compared to their competition.

    Very Low start up premium cost that make it a awesome deal. Great for someone on fix Income. Also, they are good for someone that need to care SR 22. I know when I had to care Sr 22 they save me money cause it will make your car insurance go sky high. Every month we are trying to find way to make our bill cheaper and more affordable, so why not give the General a try with low monthly payment and it will make your bills lower.     I had an easy experience purchasing on The General Auto Insurance. They have online bill pay and customization. It is easy to pay your bill every month and easy to understand. It's also available whenever we need to check and can make more than the minimum payment if we want. We haven't had any issues with their website since becoming members last year. I also like that they have the cheapest rates than anywhere else in Michigan for my husband and I. We have no history of accidents or violations and still had a large premium elsewhere. However, The General has no renters insurance available. If they could offer it in the future, I would definitely be interested.

    The General is very cheap. Great price for beginner drivers and the purchasing process was fast and great. I loved the customer service. The staff greeted me and made me feel comfortable while I was there and at home while I filled out my paperwork. They were respectful and listened to my concerns and tried to accommodate my concerns to the best of their ability. They overall showed they cared about their customers which you don't see very often and I can't stress on how important it is to accommodate your customers. The insurance could be cheaper but they did really great overall. I would highly recommend this insurance to others.

    My friend told me to try out The General Auto Insurance. It was my very first insurance company and I wouldn't change it for anything. I like the logo and friendliness among the staff.     2 accidents within 3 months of each other. 1st my fault according the officer. Other driver had major facial injuries due to not wearing a seat belt, wearing ear plugs, and talking on phone when I came to her rescue. She has filed a suit for extensive amount beyond my liability maximum. I did all the leg work for the agent and adjustor. Agent had bad attitude. Did not want to work with me and expected me to do the following up of all issues of the claim. Too many calls to adjustor too.

    The first time I used The General I was impressed with customer service and pricing. However the second time I use the company prices have went up and employees were rude. The purchasing process in general wasn't too bad as far as the courting process but having to go through all that and then them tell me that they only do six-month intervals when I was paying monthly is ridiculous. Also, the mascot for the company is just ridiculous and now since company has gotten more recognition that gotten sloppier with customer service and their prices are jacked.

    I was attracted to the online process because I thought it would be easy and very efficient. Seeing the ads on television convinced me to give The General a try and that's what I did. However, I did not like how I had to purchase the policy and the entire online process. I did not fully understand what I had purchased and it seemed like I was spending money and not really knowing what product I had purchased. My overall experience was not a favorable one. I would much rather have human interaction and have an agent sit with me so I will know what I have purchased and what coverage I have and what is actually covered under the policy.

    The process of purchasing my auto insurance policy from The General was daunting. I had to go through several quotes and deal with several websites. Each time I went to a new site or did a price comparison, I had to enter my information over and over again and that was an awful experience. If there was a website that truly meant what they said when they tell you that you will only enter your information once, I hope they mean it. Their price is comparable to others in the market. It is cheaper than most of its competitors.

    On the other hand, customer service in The General is shotty. I do not like how they handle claims and I have had to file one claim since I started holding a policy with the company and ever since then I still have not heard of what the outcome is in the situation. It almost feels as if they just do not care about their customers and that makes me want to change companies. I am searching for a company that is better equipped to deal with these situations

    The purchase was fast and easy over the phone. They were friendly and no long holds. The General Auto Insurance's price is very competitive. I couldn't find a cheaper rate elsewhere. However, after I got the insurance and was trying to get connected with customer service that had long holds though and weren't as friendly as when I purchased it. Also they just ended my insurance without any warning after 2 days of late payment due to loss of job.

    I like the General Insurance Company has great prices. Sign up giving me a proof of purchase and you're good to go. It's easy. My husband has a less than perfect driving record and after his last accident, we will paying an outrageous amount in car insurance. With The General, we can afford good insurance. They offer low rates and also minimal coverage which is their selling point. The rest of their packages aren't exactly outstanding and I wish the packages could be tweaked a little more. Overall I'm pleased and satisfied with The General.

    I had to trouble with getting insurance through The General. It was very easy and I did it right over the phone and had insurance right away that day. I like they are cheap and affordable. They gave me my policy number right away then sent me my cards in the mail. If you want cheaper insurance and over the phone customer service same day service and immediate auto insurance then go with The General. They are easy to get a hold of and help with whatever problem you need.

    Customer service was not reliable and did not follow through as they said they would. I bought a policy online in September, 2017. When it came time to renew my tags 2 months later in my state the company had not sent in the appropriate paperwork stating the new policy was active. It took an additional 2 months for the insurance company to update the state that I had insurance on my vehicle. This caused me to have to send the policy in although my state knew I had insurance. When they finally sent the information in it was not the effective date of the policy but 4 months later.

    I very much enjoyed that the policy could be purchased conveniently online with direct access to proof of insurance. Was able to print right from home with no issues. Overall the experience with The General Auto Insurance was ok and purchasing the policy was extremely easy. However, the customer service associates are awful. They are rude and have a terrible response time and are not very helpful at all. Trying to file my claim for an accident was not easy at all.

    Purchasing a policy was really quick and easy, they are very knowledgeable and polite. They helped me get the best coverage for the price. The price is very reasonable, I received quotes from a few other big named companies but they just couldn't compete. So, in doing so, I got a much better price with all the same benefits. On the other hand, the customer service could use a lot of help, they seem really rude at times, but I'm sure that everyone that works there is the same.     The General Auto Insurance is cheaper than many other car insurance. Cheapest I've found so far for the accidents we have had. We hydroplaned a few years ago so we have an accident on record and most places try to charge us an arm and a leg. It's hard to find good service for cheap when you have an accident on record. It's kind of sad too because the accident happened during a tornado when we were traveling so it was out of our hands yet we are penalized for it. The General is pretty good overall but I'd love to make it cheaper. Also, if they had a safe driving monitor like the other places and gave people discounts every 6 months that'd be awesome.

    I have had a great experience with The General so far. It was quick and easy to get coverage. They offered me the most compatible price for basic coverage for a driver that has a bad record on my policy but just needed a bond. I was also able to get cheap coverage for my work car that is only drove 10 miles a day. I like that I am able to pay my policy online and it's paperless and can sign up for auto draft. The worst part of the whole thing is sometimes the emails they send out can be confusing.

    My insurance is able to cover all my needs. With competitive prices compared to other insurance they are the cheapest I have found. They also cover my vehicle included with towing, roadside assistance and rental vehicle if necessary. They do also have renters insurance and other insurance you can add on if needed. But I only have one vehicle and I would find it great if we could rent a car through The General whenever my car needs fixing and not only if a vehicle accident occurred. Otherwise I inconvenience myself with paying them fix the car, paying for a rental or having to ask for days off to get it taken care of. Nevertheless, it was very easy to set up insurance. Everything was completed via telephone and the customer service agent was able to look at other deals to help me save along with other programs such as saving money if your vehicle has GPS.

My favorite feature about The General insurance is that it is available at a very affordable price. But The General insurance company does not offer any rewards or safe driver programs.

Easiest to purchase out of all companies out there. However, they're not the easiest people to reach. Coverage amounts could be higher. Good rates for this company. They should encourage higher than state minimum. Also could hire more phone representatives. Can't print out instant proof of insurance. You can default but they will pick you back up. Will purchase again in future.

    I liked the ease of purchasing my policy. All I had to do was go to the website and pick the policy that best fitted my needs and set up my monthly payments. It was quick. I like that I can easily make payments each month online and that I was able to add sr 22 very easily and reasonable prices.     Went online, filled out some info and instant quote. Entered my card number and had active insurance on my car. Also let me pick a due date for the balance. It was really Easy to get coverage even with a previous suspension on record. I Printed the insurance cards off and good to go right from home. They insured me even when others wouldnt touch my policy. I Would like a local office to handle claims and answer questions face to face though. Also, the premiums are kinda pricey.

    It was very easy purchasing The General auto insurance and I did everything online. If I missed something they called me and figured it out over the phone and not by mailing a bunch of paper work. They are very easy to deal with and when you call they get back to you promptly. If they don't need you to answer a question they don't blow your phone up with a bunch of questions they know the answers to. But I don't like that they don't have a office here in town or even remotely close to the area. They need to open offices around the country to make it more accessible.
