I have had Mercury for 9 years and my family has always had it for over 30 years. I had the lowest rate and the greatest insurance, but when I moved to Georgia I had paid for my insurance on time and received notice that my license was going to be suspended and due to no insurance. Called Mercury, they said "sorry we will take care of it". This happened again but I was NOT notified. I have my confirmation that I paid but the payment for some reason didn't go through even though I had a confirmation of payment and a payment code. I this time was NOT notified and unknowing had no insurance for a over a month until I got arrested.
Mercury's billing claims they are able to send emails saying it was successful but unable to notify via email when it isn't that has to be through paper mail. Worst week of my life and billing was the most unorganized unhelpful people I have ever had to deal with. Having a dedicated customer go to jail for a mistake they made twice is unacceptable to me.

12-17-2015. After 3+ weeks of back and forth haggling over a mere $1,000 difference with claim representatives Rani ** and her boss' boss Kenneth ** in the Clearwater, Florida office, I am now a month without any vehicle or acceptable claim settlement, even though we have been loyal Mercury clients for over 8 years (3 - 5 cars insured at any one time) at premiums of ~$850/month. Our broker/owner/agent in Corpus Christi is of no use at all - except to collect the premiums!
I contacted the President & CEO, Mr. Tirador in the Mercury General Corporate offices in Los Angeles by numerous emails, phone calls, and USPS Priority Mail and his silence is deafening. None, nada, nothing. CUSTOMER SERVICE - What Customer Service?? It's non-existent with Mercury. Buyer Beware! Lower rates don't tell the whole story here! Before I sign up on anything that I pay the next 2-3 years or probably more I ask to give me affordable policy which they look for it. After 2 mins of wait they've come up with mercury which these insurance agent told me I will only pay $86.80/mo for a liability but I need to put down payment of $165.76 to sign me up. They say the word one time payment. I was amazed that I am saving thru this quote that's why I signed up for it. And then as of what we agreed I paid this down payment and they started the policy and then new car added and I called and ask how much if I add the new car and take out the other car from the policy.
If I knew that this will become a nightmare I will never add the new car to this policy and I will get a different policy from other insurance. And the agent never told me anything about that. She just told me that she will add my new car to the policy and she took off one car. So basically I thought everything will stay the same because this agent never told me anything. Now I am trapped with 5 months of $163 of liability. If I cancel I have to pay. The only word they told me is misunderstanding which I follow the steps but at the end they just don't save you at all. Be aware.

I recently switched my daughter's auto insurance to Mercury due to a quote I received and was pleased with online. I set up auto pay through their website and was charged the quoted price the first month. The second month I was charged over double the quoted price! After over 3 hours in 2 days trying to cancel the policy (I am going back to USAA!) I was told that there might be a cancellation fee!!! Are you kidding me!? DO NOT do business with Mercury!!! I was previously with Travelers. For some reason they decided they wanted to charge me more. I told them I had house/auto with them, and what I had already was all that I needed. They wanted me to allow them to have an on-site photo session of ALL MY BELONGINGS, AND EVERYTHING INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE HOUSE!!! I said insurance does not work that way. I purchase a risk amount, and they charge me accordingly. You know what Travelers said? "If we think you do not have enough coverage you must agree to a new value or be canceled immediately based on this new COURTESY survey." In other words Travelers was threatening me to do what they want or get burned. So I held off the "Inspection" until I had time for them.
That is when I got MERCURY. They are Fantastic. Cheaper, easier to use and fast. Recently had my car crashed into and totaled. They paid off in 3-days! Awesome! Changed to my new truck over the phone and not once did they bother me with questions. MERCURY without a doubt is the best insurer ever. Have my house and car with them. It is the BEST!!!

On October 12th 2015, I was involved in a car accident with my two children inside. Their client, Mercury Insurance, back over the top of me on my 2013 and broke out both headlights, took out my hood, took out my grill, took out my front bumper and other things as well. In my contract with GM Financial and my extended warranty, for the next 7 yrs everything must be replaced with OEM parts. They were not! And besides that the car is not finished, according to the state code, it says that the car is to be returned to its original condition prior to the accident. It has not! I have pictures before, after, during and after the repairs were done. I am fed up with this. They say that my car was done according to the auto body shop. The auto body shop has submitted several different claims and it's just not getting done.
They would not approve of certain things that was done to it by their client. No wonder why they have D in their ratings. Far as I'm concerned they should be put out of business. After I've read several complaints against them through another source, they should be put out of business especially the person they sent out from the Sacramento area. Which is the person who is to come out and appraise the vehicle. She works for Mercury Insurance and she has no idea about vehicle whatsoever. She has no heart. And I fully intend to pursue this. My car is not back to original according to state law. I want it done right Mercury Insurance! You need to approve what your client did to my car on October 12th 2015. Just do the right thing Mercury Insurance. And pay for my mental anguish too. It's just pure mental abuse what they did.

I have used Mercury for 8 years now. I transferred my auto insurance to them when State Farm became ridiculously expensive for no known reason. Over the years, I have been in a couple accidents (one my fault), and Mercury was quick to take care of everything and was not stingy on the payouts. Both times they made me whole. Friends have told me how their insurance companies were tight-fisted when it came to reimbursing them and not much of a supporter when payment was needed from another insurance company. Finally, Mercury's pricing is very attractive.

They have offered good rates for over 10 years now and I have never had an issue with them when opening a claim and getting what I need when I need them. Calls are quick and fast, claims are processed quickly.

The rates are fine but even if you have an insurance agent, if you have to file a claim you have to deal directly with the insurance company and not through your agent. When I had a claim it was not followed up in a timely manner and I had to keep trying to call and email the insurance adjuster. I had an agent because I thought he could take care of everything for me.

In May 2012, my husband and I were hit in a severe accident by a 17-year-old driver. She ran a red light but started screaming that we had run a red light. No one at Mercury listened to us, no one investigated, we just were judged to be wrong since we were so badly injured we couldn't speak for ourselves at the scene. Even though we were completely exonerated of the red light charge by police and a judge, Mercury didn't care. After three years of fighting it, the 17-year-old got a large settlement. Mercury is the worst insurance company ever. Paid them well over $100K for coverage over the years with NO claims, then got no support.

I would give this company zero stars if I could. Mercury Car Insurance is by far the worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. A few months ago a woman ran a stop sign and pulled out into traffic and I hit her car. She was determined to be at fault and received a ticket. She had Mercury insurance so I filed the claim with them. I was able to drive the car home, which no longer had a front bumper and had a bent hood because I lived a few blocks away. The car was not safe to drive.
Mercury took 2 weeks to come out and assess the car, and I was given an estimate for around 800$ to fix the damage (grossly low-balled, but that is to be expected). They said that normally they come get the car and put it in one of their approved shops to have the damage fixed, but there were no shops near where I lived. I was on my own to find a reputable shop and they did not offer to tow the car as it was "drivable."
I had to drive the car on the highway to a Maaco which was about 30 miles away. The people at Maaco were very helpful and professional. They gave me an estimate for around 1800$ to fix the damage to the car. I called Mercury and told them they had low-balled the estimate by about 1000$. Mercury said they would have their person come back, reassess, and adjust the amount they would be willing to pay. They also requested that I drive the car 30 miles home, and bring the car back to the shop on a Monday so they wouldn't have to cover the cost of a rental car over a weekend (because the shop people do not work on the weekend).
It was a Thursday. I told them that was ridiculous and unacceptable. I had already waited 2 weeks. What was I supposed to do, walk to work everyday? I work 6 days a week, which includes weekends. The car was also not safe to drive in the first place. It was only after I started yelling on the phone that they agreed to let me leave the car at the shop and have their adjuster go to Maaco to reassess the damage.
I then went to Enterprise to pick up the rental car the Mercury insurance company said they would pay for at no cost to me. When I got there, the guy at the front desk said Mercury would pay 21$ per day for a car, and they did not have any cars available to rent for that amount. The cheapest car they had was 26$ per day. I assumed that Mercury would pick up the extra 5 dollars per day as my only other option at that point was to walk 30 miles home with no car. I signed a form. DO NOT EVER DO THIS.
After my car was fixed, Mercury REFUSED to pay the extra 5 dollars per day, even after the Enterprise people spoke with them and explained what had happened. It was only because I cried at the front desk that the Enterprise people were nice enough to just eat the cost, which was about 70$. Enterprise values customer service, Mercury does not.
So, my car was in the shop about 2 weeks. It took a lot longer than expected, because Mercury dragged their feet and haggled the Maaco people to death over what they would pay to repair the damage. Mercury agreed to pay around 1260$, which ended being about 50$ short of what it cost to fix the car. I went ahead and payed the full amount out of pocket and took the car home.
Mercury mailed me a check. MY NAME WAS MISSPELLED, so I could not cash it. I was told to mail the check back, with a receipt of what I payed at Maaco. 2 weeks later, I was still waiting for a check. I called. Mercury said they had lost the receipt but received the check. I had to email the receipt to the claims person. They would reissue a check and mail it. I finally received a check, which was 50$ short. I called Mercury and they said they would not pay the 50$. This was about 2 months after the accident. I was tired of fighting this company for every penny. It took multiple nagging, angry calls to get to this point. I gave up.
So, I know that was a long story. I felt that I needed to be heard because Mercury does not give you the option to evaluate their company service. So in summation, this company is AWFUL. You will fight them for every penny and they will still shaft you in the end. They spend a lot more time trying to get out of their primary responsibility, which is to pay for damages when an accident occurs than to provide good customer service. I would NEVER buy insurance from them, and if I ever get into another accident I pray to God that the other driver has ANY other kind insurance other than Mercury.

It's obvious Mercury is doing whatever it can to get more money out of a hardworking family. My husband and I work very hard to earn every freakin cent, and try to save where we can. First, Mercury wanted proof of home ownership or they would cancel our policy. We supplied Mercury a copy of our HUD, did not cancel. Then, Mercury was going to cancel because lack of proof of 5 years of insurance, again, proof was sent. Thirdly, the person who filled out our application filled it out incorrectly, and WE had to pay the penalty in order to not have our policy canceled.
Now my mother's name comes up! Mercury is asking for proof that she does not reside with us in Florida. My mother resides in WISCONSIN. Mercury is trying so hard to take money from wherever they can!!! We were content with our prior insurance, but like all hardworking citizens, we try to save where we can. I TRUSTED our credit union when they referred us to Mercury. I am very disappointed with our credit union for backing up Mercury, credit unions are to take care of their people, not send us to fraudulent insurance companies. This needs to stop at some point, this company is a BULLY!! A BULLY, trying to get whatever money they can get to put in their pockets!!

They charged me 10% to cancel and would not budge!!! Then they charged me $50 to cancel my homeowners, which I needed to bundle with my new choice of insurance carriers. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! Just check out this article from January of this year regarding them being fined for charging their consumer MILLIONS of dollars in unlawful fees. We signed up with them, then 2 weeks later found AAA who was much cheaper. We called Mercury Insurance to cancel and they wanted to charge a $50 cancellation fee. Uhhhh, hello they didn't tell me that! #1 we didn't sign a contract, and #2 they never said anything about it.
Oh and not to mention, when I wanted to cancel he said "ok" and emailed me the form thinking I would sign it and not read that they charge the fee. So when I called them about it, they made me call a third party company who was as equally as rude and my boyfriend literally FOUGHT with them for about an hour and a half!! What company based on customer service and referrals won't budge on a stupid $50 cancellation fee???
I called Mercury the next day after getting nowhere with that company and the guy said he would make sure they wouldn't charge me it and that he would call me tomorrow. No call. Then I get a $27 refund (meaning they went ahead and took out the $50 fee anyway!!!). Called him again today to call him out on it and when I asked to speak with his boss he said his boss was much meaner than he is!!! WHAT?!?! Who says that!! I had started an insurance policy for my daughter who had some "tarnishes" on her driving record. My name was on it but I had my own insurance for my car too. I paid $900 down and $500/month for my daughter. About 3 months in, after all of her tickets hit the 3 year mark, I checked with my current insurance and could get it for $200/month cheaper so I added her to my policy and cancelled the Mercury policy. Standard policy is that you get reimbursed for your premium if you paid for the month and you cancel before the month is over. Girl said to me on the phone that my refund would be entered into the same account they have on record. So about a week later, I check and make sure it's cancelled. It is. So a few days after that, I log back in to see if there was a refund record and to email the company and I see that they had a charge for $50.
So now I'm reading online that they charge you cancellation fees and don't refund your premiums. This certainly was never discussed with me and I think it's pretty unethical to charge you for a month that you don't have insurance. I put a big down payment down so I should have been overpaid for this, charging me extra just shows what type of awful place this is. I certainly hope that anyone reading this will at least consider someone else as this place is awful.

Forced me to reduce my coverage on my other vehicles making a mess of my policy.
Various calls attempting to get my upcoming bill quote monthly premium from $180.00 to $591.27. Yet a month later confirm if I opened a different policy with just my son it would cost me 1600.00 year to insure him and that it was too late to reverse the charges per the manager whom also could not confirmed my previous attempts to address this issue well before receiving my bill... (At 16 don't you need a passenger with a valid driver licence with you?). The 16 year old boy had taken the red light and was speeding down the street when he hit my girlfriend and sister in our 2011 ford explorer. With the force of the impact the explorer front end was lifted and thrown onto the curve until they came to a stop. The boy in the Rav4 coz of the speed he was traveling was sent in the air and flip over the rav4 taking down a tree in the center divider.
We have a lot of people that came to us to give us their number saying that they will testify that the boy had taken the red light, was speeding down the street, and he was at fault for the accident. So now I received a letter from Mercury (our insurance) saying that after their investigation that my girl was 75% at fault. Bring on the trial over 3 yrs later, 2016. I have no idea how Mercury or its attorneys sleep at night & are one of the most difficult companies to deal with. They've increased my stress, made me broke, lengthy process for all involved. I could care less whether they see this post or not. They will lose because I have all of my medical records, previous injuries, and everything that will count in a trial. God be with you Mercury coz He knows the truth & truth will prevail. God's on my side. I know the lady had no bad intentions & I forgive her. Not Mercury.. Haven't quite gotten there yet.

A month ago a car insured by Mercury Insurance hit me the back of my car. Mercury Insurance accept full responsibility of the driver but it took two weeks and a half to send me the adjuster. He and the body shop agreed with the amount to get my car fix. As today I don't have the decision to fix my car. How long do I have to wait in order to get my car fixed. The insurance company is good at getting the money from the clients - TERRIBLE (!!!) when they have to pay.

The staff I dealt with were great, but I didn't get all my money in the end. I was given a price, and then the Mercury person said several hundred dollars would be deducted from the settlement. I call and questioned the repair company and they said the Mercury adjustor accepted their hours for mechanical teardown and repair estimate and accepted the amount, without questioning amount. When I questioned Mercury they said the adjustor accepted hours and since he never questioned the money amount for the number of hours charged, I had to pay the extra hours, which after the fact, he decided were over what Mercury would accept.
Why have insurance if the adjustor will not even try and get the repair shop to come down on the final number of hours. The secretary at the repair shop, they often times work out a satisfactory amount, but that Mercury adjustor on this case just accepted the amount and when he went back to the office and credited me for a small amount of the teardown and repair estimate hours. My car only had 7000 miles and I lost more than several thousand dollars so every hundred dollars helps. I feel Mercury owes me the extra several hundred dollars since they accepted the amount without any kind of discussion for the excess charges which I have checked on.

I was hit by one of your insured clients while sitting at a red light. The impact was significant and totally destroyed the bumper of our 3 month old 2015 Elantra. There was a second impact which was about a quarter of the intensity of the first hit. Your insured driver said he was hit from behind because he completely failed to stop, and that the driver who hit him, failed to remain. There was no proof that he was hit by another car and there was almost no damage to his rear bumper so the impact, if there was one, was minimal.
So without a shred of proof that there was another car involved you taken the approach that your insured is only responsible for 50% of the damage to my car and will therefore only pay 50% of the cost of repairing it. Your insured driver admitted to full responsibility and said he was "distracted and talking to his daughter" and said everything would be taken care of. This is not acceptable and I can tell you for sure that if any of the employees of Mercury Insurance were in my position they would feel completely disgusted by this outcome.

I made the call to the 1-888 roadside assistance number they provide, and within 1 hour the tow company was on site to pick up my vehicle. The tow truck driver was very friendly and even apologized for taking longer than expected. The truck as well as the driver were both very clean and the gentleman took care while loading my vehicle. I had a wreck on October 9, 2014. The person who hit me drove into my car as I was coming to a stop at a stop light. The driver had a Mexican driver's license and was driving his employers big truck. He acted like I was at fault but a police officer was across the street giving a ticket and although he did not see the impact he heard it and was immediately on the scene. It was obvious that I had the right of way and the other driver was cited. What happened after that was a nightmare in dealing with Mercury. It was delay and they still have not settled 6 months later.
I had to get my insurance to pay and they are now in recovery. First they could not interview the driver for two weeks, then he must have gone to Mexico and now they are saying they are not sure that the driver was not insured. Of course I am out the $500 deductible. I don't know how such an unethical company stays in business. I have spoken to three adjustors. After a few days, the manager decided he wanted to go back on their word and save money and rip me off and instead of totaling my car, they low-balled an estimate to 'fix' the car. Their insured hit me and my passenger from behind as I was at a standstill waiting for the right turn signal to change to green. Their insured admitted that she was at fault because she was looking at the wrong light turn green and proceeded by hitting the pedal, and that she was in the hurry that morning. My insurance is State Farm and they advised I go through their insurance because it was her fault, and they would need to pay for my rental car while it is in repairs. I took my car to the dealership where I purchased my car (it was a fairly new car) and they said they don't do body work and referred me to a body shop. I took it to the body shop and they fixed it. They got paid. I then called the office claims rep to let her know the mechanical part was not fixed and I needed to take to the service department to have it looked at and fixed since the other place only did body work.
She told me that I can't do that. I told her the service department would take a look at it and they wouldn't charge me since I purchased the car there, and it is usually a courtesy for their customers and they also give loaners for no charge to their customers. She said that is not how they operate and that I need to take it back to the body shop so he can take it there to have it diagnosed etc... I said fine. The body shop person takes it to the mechanic shop and then calls me to tell me that the field rep denied all the claims and I am responsible for the bill and rent a car. I've had Mercury Insurance for the past year. Last year's payment for the year was $1,800.76. Expensive right. Well I received my renewal for this year and now the letter states my annual payment is now $2,435.65. I had not received any new tickets that Mercury didn't already have on record. So why such a dramatic difference, I ask Mercury and they tell me, coz one of my tickets I had received wasn't added to last year's policy. So that's why the $800.00 increase. Sound somewhat unreasonable. It's not like I received a D.U.I. or something. It was for not making a complete stop. So after that I started looking for different insurance. Then decided to pay my car off and just get liability insurance. So once I took care of that I called Mercury back to let them know I only wanted liability instead of full coverage like I had.
Took me about an 1 1/2 to actually get an agent on the phone. Had to literally call every number I had on my bill to try to get a hold of someone and when I finally did they placed me on hold for about 1/2 hour. I told the agent what you wanted to do and she told me that with liability only my payments a month would be $60.00. I was very happy with that amount. She said it would take a day to process the changes and to give her a call the next day. I got her direct line. Next day came I got her answering machine. Went to leave a message, couldn't mailbox full. Really got that same mesaage with all the numbers I had - mailbox full. Pretty frustrated by now. I finally get a call from Mercury agent the one I spoke with the prior day. She tells me that she switch my insurance to liabilty only and that my new payment for the year came out to $2,376.00 just for liability, $99.65 difference from full coverage.
So my monthly payment would be $168.00. What happen to the $60.00 a month like you told me yesterday. So I found another insurance company that charging me $70.00 a month and only $134.00 for the down payment. So if you're ever shopping around for insurance new driver maybe. Be fully aware that you don't choose Mercury Insurance. All they care about is making money, not your best interest. And do your homework on what coverage you want and don't want coz they'll put things on tour boll that you don't even need. Coz remember they get paid on commission so they trying to make a living in customer's expense, they'll put whatever can make your bill higher in price so that way they get more commission.

Finally he stopped. I had my two daughters in the car, one in the back right side, one in front passenger side. The driver got out of car to see if we were OK. Shook up but uninjured, we were OK. I couldn't move car into parking spot as my tire was blown, a huge hole in it from the driver's car. I finally got it into a spot. We exchanged info, but I didn't get to see his info. He just wrote it out on paper and said he was in a real hurry. He left.
I was stuck there for 3 hours with my one child, a child who is disabled. I finally called a local who brought me a tire so I could get home. The driver began calling my phone harassing me, calling me names and acting very strange. I found out that witnesses had seen him racing around the parking lot just prior to him backing into me... They recognized his car.
So, pictures were taken of my damages. I spoke with his Mercury agent and finally heard back... They said it was my fault and I needed to pay $1200 to their client. Meanwhile, my car was inspected and deemed totaled. After months of nothing, I had to buy new tires, get an alignment and bang out my crumpled door so passengers could get in and out. I also had a broken brake line due to the accident. I laid out $395 in repairs and didn't have enough money for rent. We were nearly evicted, if not for a charity who helped. Finally, after numerous emails, calls and voice mails, Mercury was sending all correspondence to the wrong address (even though I gave them my mailing address).
Now, after 5 months, a check came for $400 with a legal paper that stated if I cash the check and sign up he paper first, I release all further responsibility for Mercury. I refused. The KBB value was @ $1500 for my old Bessie, but I couldn't drive safely. Alignment was still out of whack and yet another tire was needed So...I have called, left messages, emailed and called supervisors and still no response. I am afraid to drive my car, the steering is off and I can't keep buying tires due to them being damaged by the accident causing severe alignment issues.
Amazing, now that they owe me what I put out already and the fair value of my car, they ignore me, and send a partial award for my car. I can't even drive to a job that I've been attempting to get. I am appalled that this business hasn't been closed down and these agents aren't fined. I had gotten an quote of $452 for a 2012 MINI JCW insured in Texas. It was a good deal so I accepted it (July 28, 2014). This was paid in advance and in full. On August 05 I get an e-mail from the company saying that I was due a payment of $310. No explanations, the only thing the e-mail said: Due date August 20th. I called the company and after getting multiple reasons as to why my insurance premium went up I called my previous company (GEICO) and got a better deal.
I then decided to cancel in written as of 08/06/14. When I get a refund, the refund was not based on the $452 from the premium I had agreed on but the $762 of the increased premium (Which I never accepted/agreed to pay). Called multiple times and customer relations was awful, told me a supervisor would call me, which he/she never did. When I finally talked to a supervisor and explained her that I didn't understand why I was charged based on a quote I never accepted, she told me that it was legal. (My question was: if you decide to charge me $4,000.00 then you are telling me that I legally owe you more than $3,000?) No response. It's not a matter of money (the difference comes down to about $20.00), it's a matter of principle.

They kept delaying and indicated that unless the medical providers sent them all kinds of paperwork, they will not reimburse me. Wrote to the president of the company. Some guy called Gabe, one of his henchmen replied and gave me a canned answer... Meanwhile, I had to pay for my own medical expense even though it was clearly the fault of the guy who rear-ended me. Spoke to several lawyers. They ALL indicated that Mercury is the most difficult company to deal with, totally unfair and they will screw you every time. We have a homeowner's policy with them. We are canceling that in a heartbeat. Remember, if you have an auto, homeowner's or any other kind of insurance, get ready to be put through the wringer.

I've had Mercury auto insurance for years until they tried to double our monthly premium. We added a truck about 5 months ago, the premium on it started out fine, about normal pricing. But then about 5 months later, they said they messed up on it and back charged me for all those months THEY screwed up, and gave me a new premium that was about double of what it used to be! Keep in mind, it was THEM who screwed up, but I got charged for it lol. Wow. Just wow.
As soon as I got the new premium, I cancelled the next day. 4 days later, they still took the money out of our bank account (we had auto withdrawal). We called and after about 3 weeks of talking to the oh so lovely Adria (rude behind), they sent us a check for about half of what we were paying monthly. They gave me a bunch of crap about all of these fees for cancelling, fees for this, fees for that. Just terrible. Don't go with Mercury!

Nothing fancy, not the GTI sports package, just the regular old Golf. They raised my premium $400 a year! I couldn't believe it! I asked why and I was told it was because it was "a newer car". If that was the case, I asked why my premium did not go down as my other car depreciated? No answer. Because according to Mercury, you need to make a claim first and then they will send help out to you. Who in their right mind has the time to answer questions about the weather and VIN when you have just been in a car accident? Needless to say, I was stuck in the side of the freeway with my 3-year-old son and CHP was at my window threatening to tow me if I don't get off... Did Mercury care? Nope they said, "Sorry, I cannot get help out for you today."
When I spoke to Lance (supervisor), he was useless, rude and insensitive, but listen to this guys, when he goes off to his manager's meetings for "BOSSES of ALL BOSSES", he will direct my issues with them. Yeah right. When I decide to cut my losses with them, Mercury played dumb and still took out my monthly premium. On October 24, 2013, I woke to my car broken into in front of my house. Later that day after going to work and finishing my business as normal, I returned home to find that my HOME had also been robbed with my computer gone, designer bags gone, designer jackets gone, taxes gone, and most of all receipts gone. I have been dealing with to top this whole cake off also minor identity theft, someone calling into my bank and requesting a new card be sent out while I was with clients (clearly wasn't me), among other minor things.
Mind you, I never knew that I had theft coverage. As a matter of fact, I got the renter's policy in case of fire damage from a previous apartment. Nonetheless, I ended up making a claim. Shannon ** has been my adjuster and she has been more or less a delight to speak to, HOWEVER the policies that I have come to know, the processes, the damage to my personal sphere, the demands, and the productivity loss with work has just become too much to handle. First, the initial investigation was simple. The paperwork was as expected, thorough. However that is where the simplicities have halted.
The claim was forwarded for "further investigation" with an investigator named Jonathon. Said investigator and I met for about 3 maybe 4 hours one afternoon going over every single aspect of the claim. I provided plenty of pictures to "prove my lifestyle" as Shannon put it, I have remained as transparent and honest as is humanly possible, remitted my tax returns, bank statements for 2012 as well as 2013 (nearly 400 pages), given statements from people who were with me during a Christmas party and witnessed a neighbor referring to who did it, I have taken time out of my day and productivity at work to do the investigator's job and question people who may have information about my incidents. Mind you, I am a hairstylist, NOT an investigator.
As we stand now the investigator has finished his report and now Mercury is wanting to proceed into even yet another process and/or stall tactic of having me do a sworn statement with their lawyers. It just doesn't make any sense at all. None. Clearly it happened, I have items that have been stolen from me, my neighbors are talking about the incident all the time, and police reports have been filed. This claim is a drop in the pan for Mercury, dragging it out does nothing but hurt the insured. When we buy an insurance policy whether vehicle, renters, home owners or what have you, we get it so that god forbid anything happen to our belongings, our car, sometimes our livelihood, but also our investments, the company behind the policy is able to catch us from falling. To be our support net when we need it the most. That has not happened, to me NOR to a few others that I have spoken to that have open claims with Mercury Insurance. Its a tragedy really, but a sad reality I have come to accept as I will be canceling my claim as well as my policy first thing Tuesday morning (Monday is MLK Jr. day), and will in no case refer not 1 person to this company.

I've never heard from any company that I deal with over the years that there is cancellation fee. I had to have all of my furniture and related belongings stored (since 11/12) to conduct dryout, asbestos repair and drywall repair which are just now being complete. My agent told me that because he had just had an accident (1st one he'd ever had, and he's 58 yrs old!) that I'd have a surcharge (premium?) to add him to my insurance as a driver, which I was more than willing to pay. Seems Mercury did not like this and because I had just paid for my renewal, would renew me this time, but would then drop me at my next renewal.
I offered to just take my vehicle back and the only way that Mercury would agree to keep me as a customer would be for my family member to show proof of a rental vehicle. (If he could have afforded a rental vehicle, he would have done this in the beginning!) I ended up having to go to a new insurance company, but before this, had no issues. I was NEVER an adjuster for Mercury but a large reputable insurance company. And I will tell you that the person that hit your wife may have only had the minimum limits for bodily injury coverage in your state. So what happens is his insurance company can't come right out and tell you he doesn't have enough coverage, but bodily injury is a lump sum one time payment issued at the completion of all treatment and medical expenses and pain and suffering settlement. Now as I said I don't know the limits he had but if FOR EXAMPLE he only paid for 25/50 (which is the state minimum requirements in my state) which means it will pay no more than $25k per person and not to exceed $50k for the accident as a whole. So if your wife's medical expenses are anywhere near whatever his first number is then they have a possibility of what they call "exposure" for their customer and they can only pay out within the limits of the coverage he pays for. So that may be why they are telling you to get an attorney because you're going to have to end up suing the guy to get anything over his limits..
Hope this helps..

(Lmao) What's an insurance agent for when there's no one there when we need help.
The other party I hit had Mercury insurance. They sent a letter to me with a number I could call to find out more information. The lady was really rude. It pissed me off. I asked about the status of the claim. She said, "What about the status?" Then I said, "What's the situation at the moment with the claim?" She was like, "It's a total loss, what do you want? You have no insurance. You think you can pay $10,000 for a new car?" I was like, "Um, I have insurance." She asked, "Which company?" I said, "Mercury..." Then she said, "Oh ..."
She was very rude and pissed me off. Why? Because how does this stupid lady know I don't have insurance? And I have Mercury. Is this how they treat other people. It's pointless insurance. Probably they only help you and work with you when another insurance hits you. Then they can make money from the other party to pay for your car and themselves. Otherwise, you are on your own. I would recommend this to my enemies although I do not have any. Rant over, but of course there's more but whatever.
Be aware. You think the rates are good? Ask the people who have actually contacted Mercury because of a problem. The rates are good because you are giving money out.

I had two accidents being rear ended. In one, they put me at fault claiming that my lane change was unsafe. That can be argued, but I can see how it can be argued both ways. In another accident, I was rear ended by a person who claimed that she was rear ended and therefore not at fault. My insurance did not pursue their insurance to pay for my damages. I just realized that Mercury is just happy to take your money and not want to do anything for you. They are negligent. Someone should sue them for negligence. It is amazing to me that in this country, companies can operate with so much obvious conflict of interest. They are happy to put this fault on me, put me in high risk category and charge me higher premiums.
Do not go with them. There are so many better companies there. They are not even a real insurance company. They are middleman and their claim adjusters are lazy and not motivated. I got better quotes from other much more respectable company.

Very angry - I was in an automobile accident 7/31. I reported the accident 20 minutes after it happened. I then called back an hour later and told them I need the car to be towed. I was on the phone with the Mercury rep for about 45 minutes. They then said that they could not issue a tow truck and it would have to be in the morning. I said no way would I leave my car in the parking lot. I was over 2 hours away from my house. I asked for a supervisor and he was not helpful.
Finally, they got a rental car location set but I would have to go and get the car myself. It was over 2 hours before I could even get my car. The tow truck arrived to get the car. It was towed to my home since the body shop was closed. A few days later the body shop called and said that they could not get all the parts for my car. It was going to take a few weeks. Now, I had to try and get the rental extended for more than 30 days. Mercury said no, they could not approve the extra days. This is becoming a pain, no one will help. Mercury should extend the rental as it's not my fault the parts are not in. I have never dealt with such a bad insurance company with no customer service whatsoever.

My mother was blindsided at an intersection by a Mercury Insurance holder. He was 100% at fault. Luckily, her injuries were not bad. She just had a back surgery. My mother wanted them to pay her related medical bills and compensate her for her car that was totaled. My mother had to travel to South America, because her mom became sick. She left me a power of attorney, so I could handle this for her. It was becoming too stressful for her. I spoke several times with her, and she stated my mother had no medical bills because she had medical as insurance and that therefore, there was nothing to compensate her for. She offered $8,000 and sent a release of claims.
After I signed, she then a d only, then told me she had to file a claim with medical to see how much the medical bills are. I was furious. She lied to me, until she knew I couldn't do anything about the amount that was owed. I think it is the lowest, most disgusting thing I have ever witnessed. How low can these people get. Something has to be done. Is there no law to protect the people from companies like this that can just lie through their teeth to make a profit at our expense. How can the government not regulate this? I need to get the word out. Maybe if we all get together and speak up, we can demand them to act human! Enough is enough!

I noticed some moisture under the kitchen mat, so I used a paper towel to wipe up the moisture and I noticed a mushroom growing between the bottom of the dishwasher and the tile where they butt up to each other. I called Mercury Insurance and they said a leak detector man will come out paid by them. He came from Menifee, which is over 80 miles from our house, and took the dishwasher apart and said the inlet valve is no good and it's dripping under my cabinets; the toe kick plate is damaged and I have water under the tile and I need a restoration company. He disconnected the dishwasher and said Mercury would send out their adjuster. He came out 2 days later and took pictures. He said several times they do not cover this usually, but he took my information about the mushroom and the wetness on the floor. Mercury sent a letter stating they will not cover this since it was going on for 30 to 60 days or more.
We called them and told them we just noticed the mushroom and the dishwasher has been working fine. They said that by law with every insurance company, you have to let them know within 7 days. We told them we just noticed, but the leak detection man they sent out first wrote on his report that we knew of this. I have had 3 other leak detection companies come to my home and they have all said no one would know this was going on because it is under the dishwasher and it's a slow leak that can not be seen. And unless you take the dishwasher apart, who would know it was happening? Also, the dishwasher worked fine.
We called American Home Shield since we have them for anything that breaks in our home and they sent a plumber out and he said no one would know that the inlet valve was rusted and leaking since it's under the dishwasher. Another inspector came out and he said the same thing: no one would have known since it was under the dishwasher. They set us up with their own people so they could tell us, “No, it's not covered.” Meanwhile, this is going to cost us about $3000 to $4000 and I would not recommend Mercury Insurance to anyone. We have been with them since 1997 and we have our cars and our home in California with them. We found out they put a charge on my husband with an accident that was the other person’s fault in 2007, which the other insurance company paid $809 for the bumper. Mercury Insurance put it down that my husband was the cause. Mercury Insurance is a nightmare: don't do business with them.

A Mercury-insured driver ran into the back of me while I was stopped at a red traffic light. There was no doubt it was her fault. I went through my insurance, as I did not know I could go directly through hers. Thank God I did. Paying the deductible was tough but worth every penny that I will eventually get back. I called Mercury yesterday as I had $345.00 out-of-pocket expense due to the car hire not being fully covered. This amount included the daily extra insurance I bought and the $10 extra per day the car was costing.
Even though my car is a 2000 Infiniti - top of the line, great condition, I was told by the Mercury assessor that they would not cover me because I was upgraded into a better car. Excuse me? Also they do not cover the out-of-pocket insurance I bought. I did not agree with this decision, but took this one on the nose - so I was left with $60 out-of-pocket expense. Now I was told that they would not cover this because I had been upgraded. I was given a crappy plastic Jeep to drive around in. When I asked him to explain Mercury's reasons, I just got the same answer about being upgraded. I may as well have been talking to a brick wall. We went round and round and got nowhere. I am in customer service myself and know the difference between good and bad. I spent a very long and frustrating time on the phone just trying to eek out any form of humanity from him. I have never got off the phone feeling so frustrated in my life.
Without going into the ins and outs of it all, the long and the short of it is, I am not happy with Mercury's decision but the thing that made me really angry was the way I was spoken to and treated. I feel really bad for anybody who is dealing with Mercury trying to get an expensive claim dealt with. My advice is - go through your own insurance company. Do not deal directly with Mercury. Even when the accident is acknowledged by and proven to be the fault of one of their drivers, Mercury will make you feel like it is your entire fault and treat you as you are trying to pull a fast one. Awful insurance company that no one should ever deal with. I can not stress that enough.

I even provided a timeline and had family members give statements to the insurance investigator which was recorded by Mercury Insurance. All of this was done months ago. I have not been paid for my loss! I have even hired an attorney for this and have yet to get results! This company is only out for themselves, period! I recently submitted a claim to Mercury Insurance under my Homeowner's policy. Policy is not based on exclusions, rather inclusions, and a very improbable and specific list at that. While my personal property may be covered during spontaneous combustion, airplane crash, or lightning strike, falling off a truck is not an acceptable condition, unless I get in a car accident in the process. Moreover, they would not assign my case to a different claims adjuster even after I made a complaint to the supervisor. This is a two-fold issue, unreasonable exclusion of coverage plus poor customer service.
The manager, Gary, was very diplomatic and tried to explain the coverage exclusion, but refused to understand that I am also upset at the way this was handled by the claims adjuster and his supervisor. Before any of this they tried to tell me that I had no policy in force, even though I had a copy of it in my hand, paid in full for the year. Regardless of whether this claim is eventually paid, Mercury has lost a customer for Home and Auto insurance.

My car, a 2007 Ford Edge SUV, suffered a huge damage on its body and had a broken rear left suspension, tires, wheels, and front bumper. A small '95 Toyota Civic is still drivable, but my Ford SUV, which was badly damaged, cannot drive.
I then called Mercury Insurance to report the accident and towed my car to the Ford dealer for repair. The estimate was $11,000 and they promised to fix it like it’s new and safe to drive again. They needed three weeks to do the repair but it has been almost six weeks and the car still isn’t fixed. The Ford dealer could not find a new replacement part, so I asked them, “When will you find the new part and how long do I have to wait?” They said, “We don’t know how long to get the part in because the manufacturer stopped making it as they are out of business.” They could not find this part anywhere in the country, including all Ford dealerships.

I sent them a request to accommodate my loss after 17 years of continuous payments and service with no claims on my house and auto. I even told them that I plan on staying with them for another 15 years as my son goes through school and until he is 26 years old. So they would get another $23,000 in premiums from me.
It did not matter. My policy lapsed on 7-2-11. My electronic payment was "on its way to them" from Wells Fargo to their account. My son had an accident on 7-3-11 and the payment got there on 7-5-11. The lapse was two days... and now no coverage.
Not much service for someone who has been a customer for a lot of years. And I was hoping to get something out of the coverage I have paid on the car, even though I was unlucky enough for my son to get in an accident on the exact day my new coverage was to begin.
I let my coverage lapse due to the 4th of July holiday, bank and timing of Mercury getting paid. It took 3 working days. It was due on Saturday, July 2, and got processed 2 business days. July 3 was a Sunday. If I could get $1,000 in exchange for the $5,000 or $6,000 that was going to come out of Mercury's pocket? I would think that Mercury is a company that, in good faith, wants to keep someone with lots of premiums to pay in the future as a customer.
All those years of coverage and I was very low risk for your company. For 15 years, I paid $13,000 in auto premiums alone and my forecast of coverage was $22,000 for me and my son, as I cover him while he is in school or until age 26.

Last April 2010, my husband received a speeding ticket in Highlands County Florida. He paid the ticket and enrolled in a traffic class to avoid points on his license. He sent in his proof/paperwork. In August of 2010, he received a notice from Highlands County that his license had been suspended because he did not submit his paperwork related to the ticket. After several phone calls, it was determined that they had suspended his license because they needed an original of the class certificate, not a copy. He then had to drive down to Highlands County to present the original and pay fines to reinstate his license.
Our automobile insurance, Mercury Insurance of Florida through Most Insurance, LLC, was up for renewal this April. When they ran a routine background check, the suspension showed up on his record. Our monthly rate then increased from $316.00 to $668.00. The Most Agency had looked into this, however, Mercury will not consider the circumstances and waive their rules. Apparently, a license suspension with Mercury is weighted the same as a DUI. Please advise if there is anything we can do to strike this from his driving record or get Mercury to waive their policy. Of course, I have as much of a problem with Highlands County as well by not being cooperative, due to the circumstances and not taking the suspension off the record. It was clearly a technicality. No laws were broken that led to a suspension.

My doctor made a phone call and said that I had an accident on that date and at that time. They disputed the claim and the examiner presented it to me as if I was lying. I just worked with Apple Computer for 1/2 a day getting time stamps on the photos and forwarding them to Mercury but the damage is done.
It's clearly time to shop to see who offers the best service and rates. Mercury is going to be the one that would suffer loss because I will tell my friends and clients to stay away from them. I had two of my friends with me. They witnessed everything. I was glad that no one was hurt and our cars were not damaged. But we still called 911.
While we were exchanging insurance info, some guy came and took over. He said he is the owner of the car and the insurance is under his name. I was given just a citation by the officer because I was going too slowly. He took my insurance info and handed me the citation. 11 days later, I got an ADD in charge for not having insurance at the time of the collision. I was confused.
Unfortunately, I had to leave to VA to take care of my ill aunt. From VA I called the OC court and asked about the ADD in charge. They said I had to show up in front of the judge to get it clarified before February 2010. I had called my insurance company on 12-09-09 to cancel the policy since I had no idea how long I would have to stay in VA taking care of my aunt. I also had requested change of address from CA to VA. I never received any mail from the other party.I flew to CA to get this issue resolved. In the mean time, I called my insurance company and asked for a summary of my account and payments. I went to court on 01-28-10 and showed proof of insurance at the time of collision. It was clearly written by the officer on the ticket. I also showed the summary from my payment history on the policy and asked the judge how is it possible 11 days later for me to receive an add-on charge. The judge dismissed the add-on charge.
In the mean time, there was a letter mailed to my old address that Mercury Ins. is asking me to pay $660.00 for damages. I mailed all the papers to them and did not hear back from them. On July, I found out that my driver’s license has been suspended due to no insurance for the accident on 11-05-09. I was very angry and called the DMV in Sacramento. I faxed all the paperwork to them and right away they removed the suspension.
Two days ago, I got a letter in the mail from a collection agency that I owe $6326.62. I need help. First of all the letters I got from Mercury Ins. indicates that the boyfriend is the policy holder. The girlfriend was driving the car. There is no indication of her name anywhere at all.
How is it possible at the time of collision no ambulance was called, no damages to anyone and none of the cars and yet I get bills to pay? Then Mercury Ins. takes it upon themselves to contact the DMV for inaccurate information and cost me suspension of my driver’s license? And now I have to pay $6326.62? I have all documents to prove everything. Is Mercury Insurance above the judge and the law? Please help.
There’s fraudulent information to the Insurance Co. regarding damages. They are accusing me of not having auto insurance when in fact the officer wrote himself on my ticket the name of my insurance company. Fraudulent claims about damages? It cost me suspension of my driver’s license. Now I have accident on my driving record. I had to leave my ill aunt behind in VA to come to CA for fraudulent claims. Now I am being threatened by Mercury Insurance to pay and they have to send this issue to collection agency. How is it possible that a claim for damages change from $660.00 to $6326.62? It is unheard of.

The damage was relatively minor (body shop estimate was less than $1,400.00). I called Mercury Insurance and they sent an adjuster over to see the vehicle about a week afterward. I emailed and called their number several times trying to find out what the outcome was and what I should do. I was eventually told that the adjuster was "on vacation" but had approved $475.00 in repairs. My body shop clearly stated that that amount would not begin to cover repairs.
Calling Mercury again, I was told that another adjuster would go re-evaluate the damage. This went on for about a week. I was driving an un-airconditioned vehicle in August in Georgia. I finally called and told them that I would need a rental car if repairs were to take much longer. At that point, they told me to go get my vehicle and drive it until the old adjuster got back off her second week of vacation.
Finally, one month after the incident, my body shop called to tell me that the repairs were finished. When I got to the body shop, I was told that Mercury had short changed the repair and that they used the old bumper cover on my vehicle because the one that Mercury authorized would not even fit. I would advise everyone to stay away from Mercury Insurance.

She claimed she hit me because the guy in front of me slammed on his breaks. Looking back, I wish I had taken pictures and made a police report. Before driving off, she made a comment about going to get her car fixed asap and offered to refer me to a guy she knew. I obviously was not interested and let her know that.
As soon as I got to work, I contacted my insurance company who explained that I needed to call her insurance company to file a claim, so I did. I was contacted by a Mercury adjuster, Debbie **. From the start, she was rude, abrupt, and hostile. I couldn't really understand why I was receiving such poor customer service, until she made a comment about me filing the claim before their insured did. She threw it in my face that I didn't pay premiums to Mercury and they had a right to defend their insured. I even complained to her manager Candice ** and requested not to deal with Debbie ** any further, as she was causing me great stress and made me feel very uncomfortable. I was assured that a different adjuster would be assigned to my bodily injury claim, there wasn't.
To date, I have still been forced to correspond with Debbie **. The very sound of her voice causes me anxiety. Now, I've received correspondence from Mercury, indicating that their insured is denying liability! I am appalled at that statement and concerned that Mercury has been treating me so poorly, all because of the word of their insured. I have done nothing wrong. I was a victim of their insured, who rear ended me on the freeway. She hit me! Why do I have to endure such rude, hostile service when their insured hit me? It's disgusting and disappointing and I want something done about it.
As a result of the accident, I had to seek medical attention and continue to use prescription medication for the intermittent neck and back pain. Mercury keeps telling me that I have to pay my doctor bills and all they have to do is negotiate a settlement with me. The settlement they have offered does not meet my satisfaction, since my pain and suffering extends beyond my physical condition. I've had to deal with being inconvenienced and treated like **. Debbie ** had me in tears on more than one occasion because of how rude she was. I put my own credit card on file and was billed $480. Upon returning the car, I called Mercury who told me to fax them over a copy of the receipt in order to verify the amount I paid.
I faxed it over and waited. Months passed by, and I became really frustrated with the whole situation. I decided to keep calling. I was now getting an excuse that they could not issue payment until the other party (party at fault) had agreed to sign some sort of release forms. I decided to back off and give it a little more time. I kept calling and calling and speaking to supervisors/managers, threatening to sue, and to this very day, I still have not gotten my money!
This is now almost 16 months ago! I cannot sit and wait any longer. I need my money. I have run out of ideas, and I am not a very easy man to upset. But this is ridiculous, please help! I feel I should be entitled to more than the $500 now, as I have basically suffered for this long. My wife is on the verge of losing her job in the next 2 weeks. She is a kindergarten school teacher and has been pink slipped, as part of the budget cuts for teachers. We need to cut back wherever appropriate, and we really need this $500. I will be the only one supporting her, my son, and I.

I had let a friend borrow my car, so I added him on as a driver. When I asked him to return my car, he would not. So I then called the police. The police contacted the person, and I got my car back. I then called Mercury to have him taken off my policy. Then I noticed my car wasn't running right. It overheated immediately so I had the car towed to the shop. I also noticed that it had been in an accident. So I was just happy to have my car back. The car needed engine work done, which cost me $1600. Then after it was done, the mechanic and I noticed the we couldn't put any gas in the car. It would only take a little at a time. So I took my car to another shop to have it looked at. The mechanic saw that my gas tank was full of sugar. I then called the police. They informed me that my car was vandalized.
I then contacted Mercury Insurance. I told them what had happened. Mercury said they would take care of my bills, to have my gas tank and some other repair done. It cost me $1100 more! The police said I had no proof of who did this to my car since I didn't see anyone do it. Mercury did an investigation and told me that Mercury wasn't responsible for my claim because I had him added on to my insurance even though I or Mercury did not see how my car was vandalized.

Water seeped into the grout around my sink and caused the cabinet to rot and disintegrate and the sink pulled away fro the wall. The adjuster come out once and a plumber, as well. The plumber told me that the water seeped into the grout and caused the damage. The insurance company did not contact me again for more than a month so I called them and asked for a letter updating the status of my claim. The letter they sent stated that they needed more time to investigate the claim. They never returned to my home nor did they contact me again.
I called them another month later and they told me that my claim was denied. After 4 months, I contacted them again and they told me the claim was denied and finally sent a letter to that effect. My complaint is that it took them 4 months to investigate and that they would have never contacted me if I had not been calling them for an update. The extended time created great damage to my health as well as to the state of my kitchen. I attempted to mitigate my damages but I could not do a lot with the claim pending. The water damage from the running water to my home and the mold that manifested from it damaged my health. My entire kitchen had to be gutted because they failed to expedite their investigation.

In response to your correspondence sent to me regarding my claim, I have concerns re: my (your) coverage. My vehicle was broken into for the sake of stealing it. When it wasn’t successful, several items were stolen in the process. My main concern is the theft of my Magellan (GPS). I use my GPS nearly every day. In my estimation, a GPS is not a personal toy. It is a viable and important item to me and I use it extensively. Its sole purpose is navigation inside my vehicle and has always remained there.
Mercury’s contention is that there is coverage if the GPS is an integral part of the vehicle. Because its source of power comes from a plug on the dash deems it personal and therefore no coverage? What could be more integral than an item that never leaves your vehicle and is used exclusively inside your vehicle? What seems to be a loophole in the language isn’t very fair to the consumer needing help. I fully understand the non coverage on all the other personal items. It should not, however, be applicable to my GPS.
I was vandalized and victimized and where I needed your help, I was ignored. I’m sure everyone concerned at Mercury is very pleased when I pay my premiums on time for the umpteen time in my life, but where are you when I’m counting on you to help me. I have filed police reports and I have documented proof of the Magellan I’ve purchased, complete with serial number. All to no avail is a major disappointment. I’ve been a home owner for thirty nine years (the last twelve with Mercury) and never once have I filed a home owner’s claim. To be suggested by Mercury to file a home owner’s claim (with its gargantuan deductible) on my GPS is downright uncaring and insulting. Certainly there must be more substantial coverage elsewhere.

I was rear-ended by a customer of Mercury Insurance in early 2009. As I was entirely not at fault, I assumed and was led to believe that Mercury Insurance would ultimately pay medical expenses and other damages. When it came time to settle, the adjuster offered a settlement that wouldn't have even covered the medical, let alone other expenses, claiming the treatment was not needed. In short, I was eventually able to negotiate a higher settlement, but in my estimation much lower than should have been appropriate for the claim. These people will nickel and dime you and wear you down.

We used Mercury for our home owners insurance because they were the cheapest and I didn't research them. From the start it has been a long, exhausting saga trying to correct our policy. They had originally given us a policy for our old address, which was a mistake. I paid in full then they canceled that policy to start the correct address policy, then paid in full for that one as well. After a few weeks of not receiving my original refund, I called and was told they were just holding onto it.
Then a few weeks after that, I finally received a 95% refund for some reason (without explanation). A few months later, we kept receiving policies in the mail for the original wrong address, even though customer service "assured" us that our house was insured. A few months later, that wrong address was still receiving mail even though no policy was open for that address. They kept assuring us our house was insured but the paperwork never matched. We finally found another reliable insurance company, canceled our Mercury policy and have been waiting for weeks for a refund.
I recently called them over a week ago and was told that the policy was still open even though they received my cancellation letter from the new insurance company. They assured me that the refund would be in the mail. It's been over 2 months since canceling with them. Do yourself a favor, find a reputable insurance company. These people at Mercury don't have a clue. Not 100% sure our current house was ever insured, which could've been a disaster. Also, never received 100% refund from the original mistaken policy we had and still waiting for a 50% refund on the last policy.

And the saga continues… See the post from Elizabeth in Mission Viejo, CA. I will try and make this short but it's really difficult as I am so infuriated with Mercury and the adjuster Joan W.!
It has been 1 month and I haven't heard or seen one piece of paper work or gotten any resolution at all! I called again and finally actually tried to have a conversation with the adjuster. I asked her, "What is going on?" I have never seen any paperwork or anything regarding a rental car or reimbursement documents, etc. She told me, "I cannot talk with you as you have an attorney."
She forgot that she told me that 2 weeks ago my attorney sent a letter stating that and 2 voicemails and that she herself said she got authorization so now she can't talk to me again! She told me, "It's not Mercury's fault that you don’t have available credit to charge on a card for a loaner or that you are unemployed.” She again said she would not talk to me and hung up the phone on me! I was beside myself that she would lie and belittle me like that.
Five minutes later, she left a voice mail on my cell phone saying that she turned it over to the settlement dept. and she is sending a check only for my property damage, not my loss of use for a car. And I don't even know what that amount is and they are not sending it to me but to my attorney and he isn't handling that part. I never have heard one word from anyone to discuss the value of my car, etc.
I tried to call her back and she disconnected her extension so that it says this is extension no longer exists. I will sue the living pants off them! The people that have this insurance are paying to cover accidents they have and they will not do one thing to help the person not responsible. This can’t be legal.

I was visiting a friend, not familiar with the area so she drove my car and I was the passenger. We were waiting for the cross traffic to clear to make a left turn onto a residential street when a teenage driver didn't notice we were stopped. He slammed into my car going approximately 35 miles per hour. His car was a large SUV 4x4 and had minor damage. However, my car was completely caved in and the imprint of his license is on my car, that's how fast he was going. The brunt of the damage was on the rear right side which is the side I was sitting on. My head felt like it exploded, but in confusion, I did not call the police right away since we exchanged our information and talked with his mom. I called and reported the incident to Mercury. They said I should go through my insurance to get things moving as they have to "investigate" who is at fault. If I use my insurance, my deductible is $500 and I am living on unemployment so I don't have it. They know who is at fault but go do your investigation thinking they can easily determine that since I was rear-ended and he admitted fault. I had severe neck and head pain and headaches so I called them to ask them where I shall go to see a doctor as I was laid off and no medical insurance coverage and they should cover my medical. Of course, no response.
I called again and asked about my rental car, and my need to see a doctor. No response. Finally, they said they would send me paper work, etc. for me to fill out. A week went by, I got no paperwork or phone call. I called the adjuster again asking her where is the paper work. She said I gave her the wrong address, but I did not. Another week goes by and nothing. I called again. I asked her what was going on. She said that they haven't been able to talk to the other party because he is a teenager and he is in school so until they get a hold of him, their hands are tied. I then had my car be evaluated through my insurance company and an auto body shop determined that my car appears to be a total loss. I called Mercury again to find out what was going on and when were they going to get me a rental car. No response. So I rented a car from a friend since I am unemployed and my credit is maxed and could not get a car through an agency because they require a major credit card and Mercury wasn't even attempting to get me a vehicle.
Finally, I got a call from a representative of Mercury Insurance telling me they are coming out to take an evaluation. He told me it looks like a total loss just based on only the damage to body, but there are other problems caused by the accident that are mechanical as well. I called the adjuster again. I told her that I still have not received any information and she again told me I gave her the wrong address, only this time, I told her, “Well, that's funny because your representative came to inspect the car, so how come your inspector managed to arrive at my home?” She said nothing except, "What did he say about the car?” I told her it’s a total loss! The phone went silent and then I gave her the address again and asked her to please move forward with this as it's been several weeks.
Almost a month later and no paperwork, no phone calls, nothing. I left messages, never get a return call. My friend wants to know when he can expect to get his car back and I have no idea because they just abandoned my case. I hired an attorney because I have no way of seeing a doctor. I am hurt and my car is sitting on street soon to be towed because it's an eyesore to the association. This company is poorly managed and they are outright liars! This is why people sue these greedy companies because they have no recourse. It's amazing that they can remain in business. And the adjuster is very rude. No disrespect to foreigners, but I wish I could understand her a little better because she has a heavy accent and it's impossible to make out her name on her answering machine. I would put her name in big bold letters as the worst adjuster out there. I worked as a CSR and could use a job. I know well I could treat people with respect and some empathy. My car is a total loss. My back and head are in bad shape and this whole ordeal is causing me a lot of stress. I can't even sleep because I have to return my friend’s car soon and I need transportation.

Mercury auto drafts a payment for my auto insurance every month. I noticed that the latest payment was never processed. I called to find out if something had happened and to make a payment over the phone. The customer service rep said that the policy had lapsed. I was surprised and inquired as to why. She said they had attempted to verify my home address.
I explained that we had moved over 2 years ago. I was shocked that they didn't have that address since they wrote the policy on the new house and even gave us a discount for the auto insurance as a result. She had no other explanation only that they had tried to contact us and we didn't respond. I reiterated that they tried the wrong address and asked why they would keep an old address. Neither I nor my agent had received any notice as such.
Luckily, we didn't have any accidents during the outage, live in a state that doesn't penalize you for lapsed coverage (less than 30 days) and the new policy has better coverage and better rates! I felt that we should report this because other states may not be as kind. There are much better options out there for insurance. The insurance lapsed and we paid $90 down payment to re-do with a new company.

I was hit from behind by a Mercury Insurance holder when my vehicle was at a dead stop at a school crossing. I drive an Avalon and damage to my vehicle was minimal. Other driver was driving a RAM truck which had to be towed from the scene. I sustained a whip lash and went to E.R. on advice of police who responded and ticketed the other driver. Crossing guard was a witness and four children were in the walk when Mercury insured driver hit my car. Had they been in front of my car, they would have been killed. I did not have problems until a few days post accident when my neck back and shoulders were hurting. I went to a pain management specialist who informed me that it was not unusual to have pain sometimes several days or weeks after an injury.
Claims people at Mercury told me to do whatever I needed to get better. I went to an M.D. who used acupuncture to survive my job requirements and to taking time off from a very demanding job. I had to miss several partial days of work to get the proper treatment. I kept Mercury apprised at all times and they encouraged me to get whatever help I needed. The M.D. recommended physical therapy and because of my job demands I delayed doing so until she informed me that I would not get better without it. I made the time and went to physical therapy.
I completed treatments in September and sent all requested info to Mercury. They offered me 3000.00 to cover my 5460.00 medical bill. Their driver was at fault. I chose the least invasive way to deal with the pain resulting from the accident. I cannot use painkillers or muscle relaxants as I have had adverse reactions in the past. I did not want to hire an attorney as I want this to be over. I did not ask for wage loss claim but expected that they would compensate my mileage and days of work for the initial accident and partial days off.
I am too naive, I guess, but the way I have been treated by Mr. P. and his supervisor is unacceptable. I did what a medical doctor and a licensed physical therapist told me to do. If they did not want to reimburse my expenses, why did they continually tell me to do what I needed to and reminded me that their driver was clearly at fault in this accident? I am going to shout this from the mountain tops. I am so, so angry and wondering if there is a solution. I am 58 years old and pretty smart, relatively speaking. I cannot imagine if a family elder or younger less naive loved one was faced with the same dilemma. I now owe my own health insurance company for ER costs and the physical therapist. I paid out of pocket and my physician for a total of $5460. I have lost sick leave days and time that I should have had for my work going to appointments to treat an injury caused by their insured. Apparently Mr. P. thinks that my approach was excessive. Does he really think I am that dumb?

I purchased a brand new Chevy Avalanche on December 11th, a Friday evening. The next morning, on the way to an appointment, a speeding driver lost control and smashed into my new truck with less than 30 miles on it since driving it off the lot. The vehicle was undrivable and was towed to a trusted body shop costing me $433.
When I arrived home, I immediately called Mercury to file the claim and provide the necessary information. The agent on the phone assured me that it was no problem that the new vehicle was not an issue as the policy allowed a grace period (obviously less than 12 hours from the purchase I was not expected to make changes, especially on a Saturday).
After waiting until mid-day on Monday, I finally contacted Mercury again as I had not heard from an adjuster. I was assigned to a young woman with obviously very little grasp of how to perform her job and an even more tenuous grasp on professionalism. I was told that there was going to be a "coverage investigation" because I "might not be covered for the damages." I kindly explained to her that my policy clearly covered me, and furthermore I was not at fault in the collision so the other driver's insurance would be the one to pay any damages.
Over the next few days, I made regular attempts to contact the adjuster with little success and when I did reach her, she told me she could do nothing until the coverage investigation was completed.
Finally on Wednesday, I was contacted by another inept Mercury employee who was handling the coverage investigation. She stated that she would need a copy of the sales contract. I immediately contacted both the dealer and the body shop where the truck was being kept and had them send copies of all relevant paperwork (my copies of the contract were still in the glove box of the truck). After they had been faxed directly to the investigator, I called to confirm. She claimed they were not coming through clearly. Over the next 2 days, I played middle man between the dealer and her to attempt to get a clear copy of the paperwork. Each and every time I was promised a call back, and each and every time I would wait hours and eventually call only to be told she hadn't received it or it was unclear. The dealership and body shop both kept the fax confirmations and even faxed paperwork to each other to verify it was coming through in a manner that could be read.
Fed up now that it had been a full 5 days since filing the claim, I contacted a manager. After explaining the situation, she placed me on hold to look into the matter. When she returned to the line she confirmed that the investigator had received usable copies of the paperwork, but nothing could be done today.
I am now 5 full business days into this ordeal and not one step in the repair process has begun. I have laid out money to cover the medical care for my injured neck and back, I have no means of transportation for me or my 3-year-old son.
Because the vehicle had only 30 miles on the odometer at the time of the accident, I inquired with Mercury about a Diminished Value claim. I was met with hostility and outright lies that "no such thing exists, and if it did, there would be no way they would pay anything." Upon further investigation and consultation of an attorney, I have found that this is 100% untrue and that I am entitled to a claim of diminished value. When I contacted the adjuster again to discuss my findings, I was met with more rude comments and in a sarcastic tone, "Good luck with that sir. I've been doing this for 3 years and I've never paid a diminished value claim, but if you want to waste your time, that's your problem"
I cannot believe the utter disrespect and lack of professionalism from a company that is supposedly collecting my money every 6 months under the false pretense they will provide assistance in the event of an auto accident. To this very minute, Mercury has yet to begin any processes in recovering my damages or assisting me. I have a spotless driving record and have been a faithful, on time paying, customer with both home and auto policies for 7 years now and this is the thanks I get for my business?
If and when this claim is ever settled, I fully intend on changing companies. To call what they do "insurance coverage" is a joke. At this point, it looks more like outright theft.

On 10/2/08, a 3-ton tree fell on my car as I was driving down Hayvenhurst, south of Ventura Blvd. at approximately 6:15 pm. My 2007 SUV was totaled. From 10/08 through 2/09, Mercury shuffled me from person to person. I told and retold my story. Meanwhile, I continued to make car payments on a car that could no longer be driven. My doctor recommended that my son deal with Mercury as it was affecting my health. Mercury paid off my car loan without letting me know and assumed my case was settled. In March, I wrote demanding arbitration. On July 20th, I received a response indicating that an arbitrator would contact me. Today, 9/2/09, I received a $1,350 check to settle the matter with Mercury. This is approximately $9,000 less than the appraised blue book value of my totaled car at the time. No letter accompanied the check. I am disgusted and will not cash it.
I have suffered economic damages as a result of Mercury's unwillingness to settle this matter in a timely manner. Many of the representatives who called me were abrupt, rude, abrasive, and they often called while I was teaching my first grade class, though asked not to call during class hours. This accident occurred six months after the sudden death of my husband. My doctor indicated that I should not deal with the representatives, as they seemed to be harassing me to get me to settle. It did affect my blood pressure, and I was instructed to have my son, John, handle the matter. Though Mercury was informed of this, they continued to contact me. One agent got very ugly and asked in a nasty voice, "Well, what do you want?" I responded that I wanted my car back or replaced. There was no comparable replacement available in Southern California. My son helped me get a new car, which was the closest thing to the one I lost. I want this settled, but I do not want Mercury to take advantage of me. All I want is to have them pay to replace the value of the car I lost. Consider this a formal complaint against this company.

He followed her along with the police for 35 minutes, before she finally stopped. She gave false info, and Mercury (our insurance) paid his medical and repaired his truck.
I went to the district attorney and got the correct insurance info for the driver, which was also Mercury. They did not do anything to the other driver, who caused the accident but sued my minor son (17 at the time) to recoup the medical bills, for which we had coverage. They also filed this against his credit, and it still to this day shows as a judgement, even though my son was not served or required to appear in court. He is now 23 and has trouble getting credit or a car loan, because they virtually ruined his credit score due to an outstanding judgement. He was the innocent victim.
I paid premiums without a claim for 20 years, and this is what I get. The district attorney made the other driver reimburse Mercury for the medical, but this is still on my son's credit report. What a snake insurance company who will do whatever it takes to get their money back, which is ridiculous. Where did my medical premiums go? I paid, but I was not allowed to use my medical coverage. Mercury Insurance Company is a bad company to deal with, and it's more of a scam. They do not want to honor any repairs covered on the warranty, and if they do, they do not want to pay for all the charges that are included in the repairs. I took my vehicle to the repair facility, and they indicated that I had a leak in my oil pan. I needed my brakes worked on and some other stuff that was wrong with the vehicle.
I presented the repair notice to the facility and requested them to contact the warranty company and see what they will cover. The company declined every other repair, except for the oil pan leak. The repair facility then in turn got in touch with me and informed me what the warranty company had agreed to. I then informed them it's okay and they can go ahead and fix only what the warranty company will cover.
The repair facility gave me a call a couple of hours later and informed me that the job was done and that we could go ahead and pick up the vehicle. When I got to the shop, they said that I had to pay all the charges and will be refunded by the warranty company. I was skeptical from the get-go and did not want to risk paying and not getting my money back.
Furthermore, on the repair notice I presented to the repair facility, the company indicates that they deal with the repair facility directly and not through customer to the repair facility. In the company's contract info, they specify that the only cost that the customer is responsible for is the $50 deductible with any authorized repairs.
I then called the warranty company and informed them of the charges presented to me by the repair facility. They proceeded to ask me to request the repair facility to call them and request the payment from the warranty company (so much for the company dealing directly with the repair facility). The repair facility got in contact with them, and the warranty company only remitted partial payment of the work order, stating that they will not cover the extra charges entailed in the work order to fix the oil pan. In the end, I had to pay the $50 deductible and some extra charges that the company did not cover like charges for work performed to fix the oil pan.
After I paid the extra amount, I then proceeded to contact the warranty company to see if we had some kind of misunderstanding to what was covered and what was not. I then got on the phone with a guy named Andrew, who was very rude and made me feel like I was insured by a fake company. He indicated the company does not cover for shop charges incurred while fixing the oil pan and also that they will not cover for the oil that was changed.
I then called the repair facility and asked them why they did an oil change when it was not approved by the company. The repair facility informed me that with Firestone's company policy, when changing out the oil pan, they cannot put back the oil that was there prior to draining. They informed me, for them to be able to work on the oil pan, they have to drain the oil. That is extra work entailed in fixing the oil pan that they declined to cover.
When I tried to reason out with the company, informing them that I just did an oil change literally less than a week to this date, the guy (Andrew) got so rude with me telling me he does not care and stated that what was approved was all they are paying for and for anything else, I have to pick it up with the repair facility. (So much for feeling covered.)
He then proceeded to put me on speaker phone where his co-workers inclusive were all just laughing on the phone. I then requested to speak to his supervisor, and he put me on hold then hung up.
This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They do not care about the customer. All they think about is getting your money and not keeping their part of the contract. It's very discouraging that they are a bad reflection to one of the best banks that my wife and I have ever dealt with (University Federal Credit Union).
If you can, please be very careful when dealing with Mercury Insurance Group. I would advise anyone that is looking to purchase their contract to run while they can. I would recommend UFCU to anyone who is looking for a vehicle or home loan anytime. They put the customer first and establish a good relationship. Again, be very aware of the Mercury insurance group.

I was waiting to turn into my daughter’s school, when I was hit from behind. I drive a Ford F-150 commercial truck. It has a two inch trailer hitch, and solid bumper. There wasn’t a lot of damage, luckily. I read that some of the victims here have had their cars wiped out, and Mercury drags its feet in helping out the hapless victims. Anyway, I was jerked back pretty hard, and snapped me out of my seat. Even my flip flops were knocked off! I felt really dizzy after the accident, and didn’t seek medical care right away.
My daughter seemed to be okay, as I strap her into her Eddie Bauer seat real tight, just in case something like this happens. I filed my claim after several attempts to get the car fixed. I conceded to be recorded to legal purposes. It was a total sham. I went ahead and sought treatment for my back and neck from a chiropractor, which seemed to work for awhile, until my neck went out.
My 7th vertebra nerve channel was inflamed, and was affecting my feeling in my pinky. At this point, I was now under the doctor’s care, and he referred me to physical therapy, which if not caught early, can be critical, as I am a competitive athlete (track racing). I released all my information in good faith, and they came back with an offer to settle for $275.00. Yes, two hundred dollars. This is after 8 months on PS. It’s totally absurd. These people are not even from this planet. Stop Mercury now! They are total criminals! They also issue two party checks, and offered to get me a rental car for $36 a day. I use my truck for my business. They said I was not entitled to a truck. How am I going to load up material in a Honda? Tell me! I have to travel to and from my appointments, and lost time from work! Gas and lost wages alone, was $750. Not counting six thousand in bills, which Anthem has covered!

I was told that I would need to contact my insurance company. I refused to do so (although I do have full coverage insurance) because I didn't want a claim on my insurance for a fault-free accident. The representative reluctantly gave me the number of the woman that would be handling my claim, Maria. I called her and left a message. No return call was ever made.
Over the next 9 days, I called the claim lady every single hour hoping that maybe, if I were persistent enough, she would return my call and get the ball rolling on my rental car. None came. I finally called the claim number back again and asked who Maria’s manager was, as I was paying for the rental car out of pocket. The man on the phone refused to give me even the name of her manager and insisted that I speak to Maria.
I continued to call Maria’s number for 3 more days until finally I received a call. It wasn’t from Maria however, but from someone else claiming that Maria quit and a replacement had not been found. At this point, I asked the woman to take over on the rental car payment and she said I would have to wait for them to find a replacement for Maria. I asked again who Maria’s manager was, and I was again refused this information. I threatened to call my attorney and was told to go ahead. So I did.
My attorney told me that it would be best to try and work with the insurance company instead of pursuing legal action. He also said that I could just give the claim number to the car rental company, and they would bill Mercury directly. He said that since I had a police eye witness and a report stating that their driver was at fault, they would eventually accept responsibility. So I did that. This lasted for about a week as I continued to call every hour, leaving messages on the phone number I was given. No reply.
Then one day, while I was at work, I got a call from the car rental company saying that they got a call from Mercury and I needed to bring the car back immediately, or they were calling the cops. I asked why and was told that Mercury said that I was involved in an accident and was found to be at fault and was fraudulent to authorities. This was absolutely untrue. I was totally embarrassed and furious. I returned the car, paid for the remaining days due and left.
I immediately called my attorney and obtained his services, as I saw no other choice. I had no car, my medical bills were piling up, and no one would return my call. After receiving major runaround, my attorney was finally able to come to a settlement today - in the amount of $3,200.00. This does not even cover my bills. I don’t understand why this is not illegal, why I, a single young woman, can get runaround and treated horribly by a company, when I did absolutely nothing wrong.

I was hit by another car represented by Mercury Insurance group. I had a witness, plus damages to my car from the rear. Mercury Insurance did no investigation, no witness investigation, no damage survey, etc. Having done none of that, they sent me a paper stating I was at fault and to pay immediately. It's completely unprofessional, not to mention their inability to properly follow laws and guidelines put into place by the California Department of Insurance.

Talked to Mercury and they said that they would pay for my car and I never got a call from them. Then when I call over there they don't tell me nothing. I am fed up with Mercury Insurance. I think they need to be a little more respectful of people’s loss and lose the attitude.

There is only one numbef listed to call and no way to contact them on their website. So to report a claim, apparently my only option is to stay on hold and hope someone eventually answers the phone.

If i took it to a mercedes dealer it Did Not have a mercury insurance guarranty so under those conditions i took it to one of the body shops they suggested of the three.
When the car was returned to me the colors were different and they had added so much glitter to the paint that it did not look right. They agreed and took the car back to the shop, when it was returned to me the car still looked the same same glitter etc. I asked the M.D car Re-Inspector from Mercury Ins and after waiting 3 weeks almost they told me that there's nothing that they can do because they say that before i bought the car the car had been painted, and a lot of talk and I don't believe, many reasons and excuses,

I have had Sawyer Cook Insurance as an underwriter for my Mercury Insurance policy #0401-08-008297923 since 20002. I have never made an insurance claim. In the middle of my policy period between 02/08/2008 and 08/08/2008 I received a bill from Sawyer Cook stating a policy change because they added my son Joshua to my policy, Joshua at that time had his own insurance, I spoke to a Sawyer rep. to explain that Joshua is not allowed to drive my car and why they would add him without asking my permission to do so and bill me for it. The rep stated Sawyer Cook sent a few letters.
I responded I never recieved any letters, I asked why these letters were not certified because it was an increase of premium. She responded that Cook sent the letters and I must pay. I told her that every bill I received from Sawyer Cook has been paid on time. She said if I did not pay Sawyer would come after me to pay the bill, I responded I will let this policy run its course and get another insurance carrier and said goodbye. My policy was to run out on 08/08/2008, but I received a letter of Insurance cancellation, Sawyer cancelled my insurance on May 1st, 2008, I received this letter on May 23rd.
Unbeknown to me I was driving around without car insurance since May 1st. Upon receipt of this letter I immediately shopped for insurance and was accepted by the Hartford Company who is now my insurance carrier.
I feel Sawyer Cook was very unprofessional in beginning this whole sequence of events with adding my son without my permission, threatening to have a collection company come after me if I did not pay. Since my abrupt cancellation before my policy ended, Sawyer has sent me to collection for a $84.00, an amount I have no idea they are charging me for. I believe the underhanded way that Sawyer Cook has conducted this transaction is unprofessional, They shorted me 4 months on my policy of $360.00. In addition they are asking for an additional $84.00. I have already received a collection letter.

It's been over a year and I finally got refunded the $500+ for the repairs. I am a single mom with two kids who was hit by a fully insured driver, as I was also fully insured, and to hit someone who was out of a car for that amount of time when they are a multi-million dollar company is a tragedy!
Very emotional, stressed on bills, hard time paying mortgage, had to borrower money and use credit cards

I rented a car thru enterprise rent a car ( without a reservation thru my insurer Mercury )on Friday April 18, 2008 at a rate of 25 dollars a day. My coverage is 20 dollars a day and the enterprise rep. told me to call my adjuster to fix my daily rate, I did as the rep asked the following Monday and got a response from Shannon ( my adjuster) stating all was taken care of.
Fast forward to May 16, 2008, I return the rental to enterprise only to find out i was charged 212 dollars to my credit card ( i didnt know about this until i received my statement on 06-06-08 ) Shannon stated he explained my coverage and I knew what I was responsible for during the recorded disclaimer process. Off the record when we first spoke, he verbally said whether I had an appointment or not I couldve rented a car with the claim number given.
In conclusion, enterprise stated that their staff are not trained to assume that mercury can change daily rates and that I was placed in an intermidiate vehicle (chevy cobalt)rather than a sub compact which covers my daily 20 dollar rate. Mercury insurance was extremely rude and was blunt to state that they would not incur the charges I was charged for. Some where along the line there was miscommunication, Shannon never told me I should have taken the 25 dollar car back for a 20 dollar a day car. When he stated he took care of the daily rate, I assumed the rate was changed. His story changed stating daily rates cannot be changed. Unfortunately for me, all I have is verbal conversations, they have hard copy paperwork, and recorded disclaimers.
I have paid the 212 dollars, I dont know what other recourse I could possibly take.

I was rear ended while stopped at a traffic light 2 weeks ago. The insured admited fault in front of a witness at the scene. Two weeks have passed with no real action by Mercury. They sent a letter indicating they are investigating coverage but the driver showed me proof of coverage at the scene. The car is my business vehicle and is not safe to drive (suspect a leak in the gas tank). It is a lease vehicle and the stalling from Mercury began when I indicated I would be filing a diminished value claim.
Mercury agreed to assess the damage (on 4.22) and are not responding to inquiries about the status or the individual who is conducting the continued investigation. This vehicle needs to be fixed and I need a comprable rental to continue conduting business. I am starting the small claims process to sue Mercury, the driver, the owner of the vehicle if necessary.
No injuries. Unsafe vehicle I am afraid to drive therefore impacting my ability to run my business as effiently. Physical damage is $8-10K according to a friend mechanic. Unsure what the diminished value of the lease at this time.

Its been four months since I opened the claim and my car still in repair in addition the extras I purchased such as the towing reimbursement and rental car policy, I was only reimbursed 30.00 of the 450.00 I spent on towing, and they stopped paying the direct billing for the rental car unknowing that when I returned it I needed to pay $800.00 to the rental car agency.

My car engine timing was illegally tampered causing severe engine damage to valves and motor.
Months later and Mercury is still determining if I had valid claim after sending their inspector to see the vehicle several times. They claimed the vehicle only needed minor repairs despite the mechanics suggestion of an engine rebuild. I paid several hundred dollars in towing expenses and minor repairs below deductible to the vehicle based on Mercury's inspectors advise to mechanics. They advised a new clutch and discovered later they made repairs to the engine without my consent. The cluthc malfunctioned later, Mercury avoided repairs above deductible returning the car to the shop several times only days later having same problem with engine, later the engine seized after fifth malfunction to vehicle and return to mechanic. The mechanic who was repairing the vehicle sent Mercury's check back. I took the car to another mechanic who sent estimates to Mercury who tried to send me unsolicited check for approximately 2,000 less then the repairs. The new mechanic complained to me Mercury tried same to send a check to the new mechanic unsolicited. Mercury has threatened twice to take the rental car claiming my car is not in repair still waiting for Mercury to approve the claim again at new mechanics. After stating the rental was valid for thirty days rented on 02/05/07 they claimed it was due back on 02/12/2007 they contacted the rental car company on 02/22/2007 and claim I owe a back billing from 02/15/2007. Mercury has not paid for any repairs or reimbursements any towing expenses according to my policy stating my Visa card bills are invalid proof of towing expenses and original bills are not legible carbon copies. Now 02/22/07 approving my claim they stated Mercury needs me to pay $300.00 for an engine 'tear down'? It is not covered by my policy to re-inspect the vehicle before approving my claim. Mercury has approved and withdrawn their approval of my claim to damages several times and has not paid for anything other than a rental car they claim I owe money that taken them a month after the claim to issue.
