Our experience has been wonderful and all needs met efficiently and promptly. I like cost, less expensive and is fully cooperative with clients. Made having an accident an easy experience. They are at the client's beck and call. I would recommend this company to my friends and neighbors.

I purchased Mercury through AIS, it was the cheapest option at the time that covered all the needs I was looking for. Process was easy, I am satisfied. I like the convenience, was able to set up online automatic payments and they have a low deductible for comprehensive coverage. But I don't like that you get charged extra for making payments that are NOT through auto debit. I didn't have bank account, and I don't think you should get penalized for not having a bank account.

Mercury has great rates and the coverage that I need. I like my agent and they are helpful and answer all of my questions that I have. Paying my bill online is simple and easy to use also. However, the rental car coverage should be extended for more than 30 days. The repairs on my car took at least 41 days and the insurance did not cover it so I had to pay out of pocket and the accident was not even my fault.

I spoke with a friend, who recommended his sister. I had been in two accidents in a relatively short period of time. She became my agent and searched for a company that would cover me with my less than perfect record. She suggested Mercury because of their reputation and coverage. It was a very easy process. I gave her my information and just like that I was covered. It was such a relief! The agent took good care of me. The service was good and affordable, and fortunately I was able to clear my record over time. I was then able to get better coverage at a lower rate elsewhere, through my employer. If that hadn't been the case I would have stuck with Mercury.

Being able to contact them directly when we have had claims for accidents has been great. I liked having a direct line to our adjuster. They also handle them quickly so we could get our new car. I like that they have discounts for good drivers, older drivers, and multiple drivers. And they have the option to purchase renter's insurance with our auto insurance plan. However they have raised our rates with each 6 month renewal period without checking to see if life circumstances have changed. And granted it isn't a lot, it still affects our budget.

I was sent to collections when I wasn't even cover for the month that I didn't make a payment for. I couldn't afford the payment at the moment due to hardship times and they just made it even worse.

I was able to purchase insurance over phone, and received a great deal. Got a better deal when I bought renter's insurance. Mercury seemed very knowledgeable, but once I needed their help, some reps make the process more stressful than need be. Quickly has an adjuster inspect car and immediately helps me get a rental car. But rep never phone backs when stated. Some of the reps seem not to completely understand their job. This has led to car being fixed longer than we were told, extending use of rental, threats of paying more for rental which is their fault and unfair. This can be very frustrating.

My driving record isn't the best. Since I am still paying for my car, I am required to keep comprehensive coverage on it and Mercury was the best price for the coverage I needed. Purchasing was very easy. I used a local agent who did all the price comparison shopping for me. Then, all I had to do was sign the paperwork! Since my insurance policy is coming up for renewal, they are checking again to make sure I still have the best price. Recently, I had to file a claim for a small car accident I was in. The adjuster assigned to my claim was never available and she did not return my calls. That's an issue.

Mercury Auto Insurance has affordable prices and seem to be located in area that are convenient to our home and affordable prices. But you don't have to go their offices. My husband set up insurance for our teen daughter over the phone and it was very easy and quick. However, prices recently went up significantly and it is way too expensive. Adding our teenage daughter to the plan made our monthly bill go up by much more than we had anticipated. But I have friends that pay way less!

We shopped around a lot and found Mercury to be our best option. I have been with them for a very long time and will continue my plan with them. My whole family has coverage with this company too. Low cost, they are always very helpful and available. I have never had to wait for a long time on hold. And they are always prompt with service. But dislike minimal coverage. I only have liability so this is mostly just because of my plan. I previously had full coverage on one of my vehicles and it was very good coverage. It wasn't costly like some other companies. Great overall experience.

I was referred through my friends and experience has been good thus far. Due to certain discounts, my insurance payment has been reduced. Reasonable cost and discounts. And the company is easy to contact. The insurance agents are also ready to assist you in a polite and professional manner and they provide good customer service. But discounts could be given on longevity with the company, especially if you have had no accidents. In addition, information should be given to customers if they no longer require full coverage.

The process of purchasing the insurance with Mercury Auto Insurance was easy. We found a Mercury Insurance office and made an in-person appointment to make sure we were getting what we wanted and were able to ask our agent questions face to face. I like being able to speak to a live person. We have the same insurance for over 10 years and have had the same agent the entire time. The company has been easy to deal with and the rates are affordable. I also enjoy being able to do most everything on-line. But it would be nice to have cheaper rates.

I had to find Mercury through an insurance agent instead of being able to locate the company, obtain a quote and purchase a policy without an intermediary. Insurance agent recorded my personal and vehicle information and recommended this company because they offered the best rate for my policy. The premium is reasonable. The claims process is not difficult, the company is easy to work with, the employees are friendly and sympathetic, and repairs are completed quickly.

Purchasing the policy was simple and easy. We simply had to call an 800 number and a woman named Wanda walked us through the process. She explained the process very thoroughly and in terms that we could understand. Wanda was also friendly, personable, and seemed to understand our needs. Mercury pays off quickly and negotiate well on our behalf. I also like the discounts and that they are affordable. When we had State Farm, it was much more expensive. However, I wish it covered pizza delivery drivers. Our son had this part time job and we did not realize his vehicle was not covered while he was working until he had an accident.

Mercury Auto Insurance was absolutely wonderful. I was on the verge of giving up on finding affordable motor vehicle insurance but one of Mercury's third party companies jumped right in to assist and help me get a great rate so I could continue to drive safely and legal. At Mercury insurance the employee, managers, as well as third party companies associated, always worked with me and were very helpful any time I would call in for any issue like late payments, questions, upgrades multiple things. They messed up my account a few times with my banking institution though but they resolved every issues I've encountered except the few that there was absolutely no other solution or way. It overall was a great experience.

I spoke to them about my windshield getting cracked due to rock from another company vehicle. They could not see if it was covered in my policy and I was transferred to several people where I had to explain my claim several times. The first 2 did not know if I would be covered although they had access to my policy and then I had to wait for another representative to call me back. They are not efficient and I frequently have to call as they price will fluctuate without cause to why.

Purchased online/over the phone. Very convenient and was able to download ID card straight to my phone. That is the most conveinent way to me to have your ID card on your phone and to be able to pull it up whenever you need to. Also the app that they have for you to download to your phone to keep track of your account and pay your bill. That is also a convenient way to keep track of things and pay your bill. How much more could a customer/client ask for! I love it! Most of all I love the customer service! That is my favorite part! Their employees are very professional and courteous. Any time I have a problem and speak with someone over the phone they are extremely patient and sweet. Have had several laughs over the phone with representatives. Great customer service which nowadays is very hard to find!
It is also affordable and they work with you when you need them to. But I would improve their policies on giving perks for people who have not been in any accidents. Maybe if they gave out perks for not having been in any accidents for long periods of time then that may peak people's interests in purchasing with this company. I'm a very cautious driver and have not been in any accidents before so it would be nice to be rewarded for that! Maybe even discount off of the next month's bill.

I applied for Mercury via telephone and the representative was very helpful and answered all of my questions. I knew the policy details and they were explained to me thoroughly. It was fast and easy. I feel like I have complete coverage with them. They are responsive when I'm in an accident and agreed to continue to insure me after my DUI. I also like the website which makes it easy to pay my monthly bill and look up my policy. But I feel like I am getting charged too much monthly. I understand that I got a DUI, but that should not have increased my premium so much considering there was no property damage.

I do not like purchasing insurance over the internet, so I chose to call and purchase my insurance over the phone. For me, it makes me feel a lot more comfortable actually talking to a live person. This was a nice feature that Mercury offered, because some companies make you purchase on their website or on the phone with an operator. I priced a lot of different companies and Mercury had the best price and coverage. I have only had a very good experience with them thus far and I hope that it will continue. They have been a great company to work with!

Mercury is the cheapest insurance I was able to find for myself and I like it because of the price. Get what you pay for. However, they have really bad customer service and sometimes they use agents from out of the country. I don't like their billing cycle too. They also ask for different items that other insurance companies do not require and asked for multiple pieces of proof of things that aren't true.

My insurance purchasing was a breeze. I was able to do everything over the phone and was emailed a receipt within minutes. Customer service was great. Everyone is so helpful. The website is so easy to use. The paperwork was clear and easy to read. Their policy is more than the state minimum's and way cheaper than my last company. The only issue I ran into is my policy was quoted one thing then being more expensive after I paid for it. Also, a local office would be nice. I like to be able to talk to and ask questions face to face. If I were to ever have a claim it would be nice to have a local person handle it.

My experience with Mercury Auto Insurance was great. Before Mercury I had shopped around with several other companies and the coverage provided by Mercury with the total premium was what hands down gave me my reason to purchase. Other companies make it seem that they are the cheapest and more convenient. I dislike that when you're about to leave they drop the prices like they didn't know it could be cheaper.
I have used Mercury for many years and it is very convenient. The process was quick and the options given was the best for my needs. I like that I can reach a live person. They listened to what I needed but also asked other questions that did not come to mind until mentioned. But Mercury could have a lesser deductible if the car gets scratches or dings. Although I haven't had a claim I have been told most companies take forever to process and I don't like that. But other than that, I like that Mercury has a low deductible than others and I like the multiple discounts offered like home and auto. I also like that I can reach a live person.

Agent called and was on top of things. Followed up and gave some options to keep my monthly premiums lower and followed through until recently when they upped the monthly premium out of the blue. I haven't called to find out why yet but I hope they have a good reason as to why when I do. Let the customers know the reasoning if you're going to raise their monthly premiums. Otherwise, keep them the same. Touch base every few weeks or months at the longest to see how they're doing and gather feedback.

I went online and compared rates as well as coverage options and chose the plan that was best suited for my needs for the best price at that time. Mercury Auto Insurance is very easy and convenient to work with. My premiums are reasonable and there are no unexpected fees/charges each month. They are helpful when filing claims and are supportive throughout the entire process. I wish there were more coverage options available to choose from though, so I can be sure I choose the right policy and coverage for my needs. But other than that, the process of purchasing insurance coverage with Mercury is seamless. I've been with this carrier for years and I haven't found cheaper insurance anywhere. The process was simple and easy. I went to an office for AIS and they helped me determine my needs with a letter of experience. I like that this company has great customer service. They are easy to work with, thorough and responsive. I also like that the statements are easy to understand and the prices are reasonable and affordable. They have been around for years and that is comforting to me. However I don't like only email communication. I don't think that it's very professional or reliable to focus on one type of communication. Sometimes it's more beneficial to speak to an actual human being. We had a great experience with Mercury. We loved that the agent came to our house. He was really personable, friendly and genuine. He didn't act rushed and was very proactive in reaching out to us to see if we had any questions or concerns. He even recommended local restaurants for us to try out since we were new to the neighborhood. But despite the fact that we loved our agent, we had to cancel coverage because we moved in with my parents and didn't need insurance because our car was too old and it wasn't worthwhile. Also, we found better rates with California Casualty and better rates elsewhere won out. But we would use Mercury again.

I was also able to manage my insurance via phone and online and they have various payment options that offer me the flexibility that I need. It was easy to purchase the policy online and I received coverage that day and all necessary paperwork within the week. However, they exclude drivers in home. But I can see why they would ask for the information on others who reside with you due to liability issues. Also, it is more costly than other companies such as Esurance which I had before I purchased insurance through Mercury. Still, I'm glad I chose Mercury for my insurance needs.

I mailed my premium payment five days before it was due. My wife and I drove as usual, believing we were insured. I was involved in an accident approx. one month later and when I contacted Mercury they informed me that my policy was canceled because I didn't pay my premium. They stated they still hadn't received it and sent me a letter to that effect. We didn't receive any notification from Mercury and drove without any coverage for a month. While I insisted I sent them a check they insisted they sent me a letter regarding canceling me.
Then, approximately three weeks after learning of the cancellation I discovered that my check cleared my bank a few days prior. I contacted Mercury and they told me they finally got my check and deposited it. I asked them what the postmark date on the envelope was and they told me it wasn't postmarked. I then asked to see the envelope and was told they would send me a copy rather than the original as it wasn't available. The copied envelope had a stamp affixed that I have never seen or used before. I have used only one stamp for several years; an American flag, forever stamp that I purchase in blocks of forty or fifty at a time. Neither my wife or I have ever used the stamp on the envelope.
It's obvious that an employee has tried to cover up the fact that Mercury received my premium payment on time by taking a Mercury envelope, placing a stamp on it and passing it off as the one I sent them. The result of all this has cost me $20,000 to pay off my car with my bank as the car was a total loss. This is a clear case of fraud. Mercury has been unresponsive to the matter, apparently unconcerned that they have an employee who would engage in an illegal act.

We pay a low amount for 3 vehicles and they are all fully covered. Most other companies charges very large amounts for multiple cars fully insured, but Mercury has worked with us. The process was pretty simple. We just went in and talked to someone and they worked with us and gave us a good quote that we were comfortable paying. When we have questions about our policy they do a very good job about explaining to us and working with us to resolve any issues. Very happy and satisfied.
But I have seen many commercials for how Mercury gives bonus checks to those that do not crash. And I don't like the fact that our state does not qualify to receive these checks. I have been a safe driver and would love to be rewarded for that. I don't think it's fair that they offer this in only certain states. They should offer it to all safe drivers no matter what state they live in. This alone makes me rethink staying with the insurance agency.

I went through a 3rd party agent that represents and sells Mercury, and the overall experience was very simple and straightforward. I did not have to go to their office and almost everything was accomplished via email. I like that my Mercury policy offers the lowest price when compared to other companies for the same or similar amount of coverage. I like that my policy is straightforward and easy to understand. The website is a bit antiquated though, and as far as I know, Mercury does not offer a mobile app. And I would like the chance to independently explore adding or subtracting features from my coverage and judging their effect on my premium without having to go through an agent.

First time ever I had occasion to use roadside assistance. What a terrible experience it has been! My van broke down and I needed to have it towed. Mercury rep told me that since the distance was more than 15 miles, I would have to pay for the additional distance. I asked how much it would be and was told it would be $60. I asked if I could pay it after reaching the destination. The answer was: "Sure, no problem." When I reached the destination the driver demanded $200 in cash. He would not take credit card and he would not take no for an answer. He would just run away with my car unless I paid him. Called Mercury. Spoke to the supervisor named Jonathan.
He said that $60 was a special price available only if I had paid by credit card at the moment it was offered. Since I chose to pay at the destination, I was on my own. I would have to pay whatever the driver demanded. That is how it always works. Why I was not told about it upfront? He had no answer and was not bothered with this "minor detail." The driver would not release the car before getting the payment in cash. Once he got it, he left the car in the middle of the street and ran away. I had to ask neighbors help to push it to my driveway. I have been with Mercury for a long time. But all this time I was just paying the premium. Today I needed to use one of the services that I had paid for. And what a terrible experience it was.

The customer service people are friendly and professional and I love when I call with questions I get the answers I need. Mercury has been reliable yet affordable for years. I've never had a single problem with them. My agent is always available and great to work with whenever I am filing a claim. This has kept me from moving to another insurance company. Purchasing my policy was very standard. I purchased liability only for an older vehicle as I saw no need for full coverage, any repairs would have been more than the total value of the vehicle. Mobile access is so standard but the functionality needs to be improved. This would better increase my access to my policy, especially in the event of a vehicle collision in areas where there is cell service. In general, I get great service from Mercury.

Had an unfortunate incident, where a family member ran into our house with her car, and she was insured by Mercury Insurance. She called them, and I called my homeowners just to report the information. When she got off the phone with her representative, I asked her what they said about our house damage. She said they didn't mention it. UH... what??! I asked her to call them back and during that conversation, they told her they may not cover our house damage. Excuse me?!! Then my husband called them, and we waited... and waited... and waited for a return call. None came. He called them back and finally got a 'live' person and was told that since it was Saturday, there was nobody we could talk to and that we should try again on Monday. What the heck??!! Accidents only happen Monday thru Friday, 9-5?
Monday came -- no call. We called them again and were told that they didn't have any adjusters for this, as they were auto insurance, and we would need to use our homeowners insurance company. What a crock! Our agent said this is just a game they play, especially since they also provide homeowners insurance - and my relative had both thru them. Our agent also said that if they didn't have any adjusters -- then it was up to THEM to hire one and not make us file a claim. But, given the runaround we had already received, we went ahead and used our insurance company, which meant we would be out our deductible to begin with. Not happy!
Our insurance company handled everything because Mercury was totally useless. They kept sending us letters telling us they didn't know if they would approve the claim and were 'working on it'. Another game no doubt. The accident happened in October and in March (yup -- 5 months later!), we received a letter from yet asking us to sign off on a certain dollar amount for the claim, and stated if we did, we could not push for any additional dollars. The amount they wanted us to agree to was less than the repairs, and did not include our deductible. Our insurance adjuster said it was yet another game and not to sign. Our adjuster handled it from there and was able to secure the proper amount. WHAT A PAIN! I have no idea why anyone would use this sham of a company.

We ended up paying just under $400 to have their terrible insurance for about 2 week and to get out of their terrible contract. However, as the victim of a serious car accident, I have learned that they are the most awful, unethical company imaginable. A woman with Mercury Ins rear-ended me (no braking) on the 405 S in LA, knocking me two lanes over into a truck. My car was totaled, I was almost totaled, and transported by ambulance to an ER. I’ve been in therapy for 8 months. The CHP assessed full liability to the woman with Mercury Ins, the truck driver sued her as well… pictures documented the clear evidence of the crash. Yet Mercury still won’t pay because this woman has the gall to say that rear-ending me at approx 40 mph really wasn’t her fault.
After 8 months, THEIR lawyer took a depo of ME!... and agreed, it was THE WOMAN CRASHER’s fault. Will Mercury finally pay? Nope. They just want to hold onto Mercury money as long as they can, court is next December, 2018 (a year and a half after the crash) - they could care less about the suffering incurred by denying a legitimate claim. It’s really sickening. While I can forgive an accident, I can’t forgive the lying and lack of any ethical principles.

I tried a third but they were booked for 6 weeks also. I tried to bring it to a shop next to my office but it was not a "recommended" shop and Mercury took three months to "process" the result being that they would not approve the repair as it called for a refurbished bumper and the other shop was going to bondo it.
After going back and forth with Mercury I gave up and took it to the first shop which fixed a 6" section on the bumper and did not replace the broken bumper brackets or paint the full bumper. After refusing to accept the vehicle - got on a three way call with shop and Mercury and the shop admitted that they lied to me about replacing brackets. We had water damage in the master bath when a shower arm broke. It broke because I adjusted the nozzle to make the water force lighter. UPSTAIRS DAMAGE: The damage was in the master bath shower wall, the master bedroom wall, carpets. And the damage went down one wall and across another wall. DOWNSTAIRS DAMAGE: The ceilings and 4 walls directly below the water damage above, a built in floor-to-ceiling wood pantry, the pantry doors, the adjoining walls around the pantry and wood flooring and baseboards. The adjacent bathroom 3 more walls and ceilings and alcove tiles.
We contacted a local water damage company, Kade, instead of using Mercury's preferred vendor - Servpro. We didn't go with Servpro because they had horrible reviews. The Mercury Insurance inspector came out, did a quick review, left and then came back with a bid that was nowhere near the cost to cover the damages. He would not return phone calls or emails. The Mercury agent refused to use email because he told me: I get 60 emails a day, I can't answer them.
THREE INDEPENDENT BIDS: Everything was done on Mercury's terms. They wanted to wear me out. He processed the claim and came back with zero additional funds. In other words, the total cost would not exceed the deductible. The 3 independent contractors came in between $25,000 to $30,000 of additional damages. For example, Mercury said we could just dry out the carpet upstairs and replace a PORTION of the carpet in the master bedroom. And leave the other existing. Over half the carpet was damaged in there yet they we were supposed to 'cut and paste' some new vs. old. There is no way that carpet would match, let alone be safe.
I know our house very well. One, we've lived in it 37 years. We've remodeled it twice. The second remodel was the 2nd story. We remodeled our house and I worked directly with the architect that took my plans and put them into a rendering. When the Mercury inspector came out, he spent about 30 minutes, if that inspecting our house. Made a quick lap around the house, then BAM, out the door. Then he went back and submitted the claim and came back with his analysis. Our deductible would not be met - based on HIS estimated. He was not using CALIFORNIA LABOR RATES for the subs we need to hire.
There is no way. Materials and labor are higher in CA. We got (3) separate bids like we always do for our work at our building or home. Our independent bids exceed Mercury's by $20,000 to $30,000 for total cost (including deductible). For example, there is no way to rebuild a floor to ceiling solid wood pantry, paint it and replace necessary hardware using California licensed labor. Yet the Mercury bid came in less than $500. I dare any California homeowner to find a licensed contractor with great skills to do that kind of work.
I contacted the supervisor of our inspector at Mercury and he ignored me. Then I contacted the Department of Insurance and they agreed with Mercury. Yet, the rep from the Department of Insurance had NEVER reviewed my case the first time. I know that, because I contacted him again and asked to reopen the claim. The same Dept. of Insurance rep asked me to send him the same documents again because he wasn't aware of some info. I told him the info was in there. He finally admitted that he had not reviewed them in depth. I also submitted the 3 bids for the damages as well as extensive photographs to the Dept. of Insurance. Apparently, The Department of Insurance suggested that Mercury come back out one more time. It took NINE MONTHS before Mercury sent out the agent again.
And guess what they did? The same inspector made a nominal additional payment in order to exceed my deductible. In other words, they would increase my premiums (penalizing) me for going to the Department of Insurance. And pay in excess of the deductible - but just enough to get us off their backs. Not based on the actual cost of the damages. I was advised to contact a lawyer. But why should I have to? The terms of the policy were not met. Mercury dragged its feet - for almost a year. They evaluated the claim again, only at the request of the Department of Insurance.
The second time the inspector came out, he brought his own Mercury contractor. We were all together in the upstairs master bedroom and bathroom same as they inspected the house. But when they came back down, they did not follow us into the kitchen meeting area where we started. Instead, they were having a pow wow down the hall and out of view. After a few minutes, I finally went back to find them WHISPERING. I asked why they needed to whisper and have a private meeting. They got a bit rattled and joined us.
After one year of hassles, the same adjuster said he would resubmit the claim. Even though he was no longer an adjuster. He told me with a smug look: I got promoted. Yep, Mercury promotes those adjusters that drag their feet and get claims lowballed or denied. That's job security for Mercury. Forget about the terms of the policy and the actual damages. We ended up getting addition payment of just under $3000 for our initial claim. That's $20,000-$25,000 less than the repair estimates we got.
Of course our premiums went up: Just over $3,000. So, we were penalized for reopening the claim. Yet our contractors came in with bids well over Mercury's definition of damages. As a final disclaimer: My husband and I own a life and health insurance agency. We do know about insurance. Not, we're not experts in homeowner's insurance but oftentimes, we hear the horror stories of underpaid homeowner's claims.
And finally: the reason why we were so adamant about our claim with Mercury. It wasn't the first time we had damages with them. Just the year before, we had water damage from the upstairs second bathroom. It was Christmastime and the water went down the wall of a downstairs bedroom. We called Mercury and an inspector name Matt came out. He taped off the area he said was damaged and marked it with orange tape, if I recall. It was taped off. Based on his assessment. He estimated the damages to be under $500. Well, turns out the damages were $1,500.00.
A week later, we had guests visiting from Thailand. Half of the closet wall and the adjoining ceiling collapsed. Yep. Fortunately the drywall didn't hit them. We had (3) contractors come out and bid to replace the drywall and paint. The bid came in less than our deductible. That's why we have been so prudent. Mercury lowballed the SCOPE on the first claim. And they did it again on the second claim.
Our deductible was and is: $5,000. When we contacted our agent who sold us the policy for the second claim. The agent OWNS a huge casualty agency. We have mutual insurance related friends. But we've known him for years so he oversaw both claims enough to be dangerous. He said, "Why did you guys get a $5,000 deductible?" We reminded him that he suggested the high deductible. We have plenty of photos that we've taken at the time of the damage as well as the work in progress.

The agent I originally spoke to about my accident approved my claim and ordered a tow truck company to pick up my vehicle to take it to the Mercury collisions center. The next day I get a phone call from Rebecca ** around 1 pm and from the start it seemed like an interrogation to find a reason not to honor my claim. She didn't bother to ask me how I was doing or if I was okay. She did ask me if I hit someone else, how many people I had with me and even questioned if I was on the policy, and then asked me if was using the vehicle for work. She did tell me I don't get a rental car.
So I explained to her that the accident occurred while I was delivering groceries to an elderly lady because that's what I do on the weekends. Because I get compensated for charity work I guess they can't honor my claim. As soon as I mentioned delivering groceries she said she'll have to talk to her supervisor Crystal because she's pretty sure I'm not covered while working. I was a little confused as she hung up. I tried calling her on two different occasions at 2:30 pm and 4 pm but she didn't answer. I left a message with her and her supervisor but received no callback or anything. We'll see what happens tomorrow and we're skeptical about continuing to hold insurance with mercury. It was ugly feeling after being in an accident and it got even uglier knowing that they treat their customers this way. I wish I would've saw these reviews earlier because I'm obviously not the only person they've done this to.
An update after I received a phone call today 10/10/2017 almost 24 hours after speaking with Rebecca ** she called me back. First thing she says is "I need a recorded statement saying you were working". Really? I've given two statements and I have no need to move further with another statement so you can fabricate some story to get you out of honoring my policy and claim. I then began to tell her that I don't want another phone call from you until you have an answer for in regards to my claim. So she hung up. Let's see what happens now.
An update on 10/11/2017 - Okay so I took the initiative to contact the corporate office because I wasn't getting anywhere and Rebecca ** she is never in the office to answer the phone or she's screening her calls. The representative from the corporate office called Crystal the supervisor whom I left a message for and never got a return call until now. She was a little more polite than Rebecca ** but it's very difficult to tell if she's being genuine or just trying to get me off her back. She said she's still waiting for her manager to make a decision on my claim and explained to me that she would keep me posted. She later called me back towards the end of the day to tell me she still didn't get any feedback from her manager. So as of now we have gotten nowhere and are now going on to day 4. Let's see what happens now.

MERCURY Insurance company is horrible!!! I was with them for a few years, for my house and car. They kept raising my fees for no reason, I never submitted a claim with them. Then they came to my house and saw 4 Chihuahua in my yard, and dropped me just like that, left me without insurance. I was paying $347.00 for my guesthouse. I changed my insurance and am paying 1/2 the cost for house insurance same coverage. Not learning from the 1st time I got screwed by them, I got a business account for auto, the only reason was because it was cheap, you get what you pay for. I had this account for 3+ years, got into my 1st accident. They denied coverage...
The kicker is I had talked to 4 people there, all of 1 were RUDE, they got belligerent when I told them I wish I would have investigated because they only have 1*. The truth hurts!!! We unfortunately had another person hit our vehicle in a parking lot that did not leave a note. So, I called Mercury and turned in a claim and got an estimate, a local body shop that I like and trust, which happened to be one of their approved vendors in town. The adjuster was very kind and efficient which you hope for when buying insurance. Anyhow the problem was quickly resolved with the body shop and the adjuster quickly paid them and was back into my vehicle in a few days' time. My only complaint is towards that person who decided to be selfish and drove away, I wish I could file a complaint against them. But since I can't I wanted to take a moment to thank my insurance company, thanks Mercury.

After 10 yrs with Mercury and no claims, another person severely damaged my car while I was inside shopping at our local grocery store. The damage was all along the driver side of my car, the impact of her Mercedes moved my car and damaged the door on the passenger side. The other drivers tail light was left embedded into my car. The driver waited and had me paged inside the store. To make a long story short, Mercury handled the whole transaction - or so I thought. I had to return the car since the passenger side was not completed. In fact it was never marked by either Insurance Investigator - the other being Allstate.I was told by Mercury to prepay the additional car rental for the passenger side repair, and I would get reimbursed.
Well 324.00 later and 15 months later and I am still waiting for reimbursement. Meanwhile I canceled Mercury, wrote to them 4 times, wrote to Allstate as well as the Insurance Commissioner. Mercury kept blaming Allstate for the long wait. Allstate never responded to my correspondence and the Insurance Commissioner's office wrote to me that Mercury was working on it and awaiting response from Allstate. Here I am 15 months later still out $324.00 and I am on Social Security.
One month after the 2nd repair I went to Jiffy Lube for my regular oil change and was told I had an oil leak. I told them what happened and the suggestion was that the impact of the Mercedes moving my car up on the shopping cart railing could have done it, since they knew I never had an oil leak prior. Plus her tail lights were embedded into and below the drivers side of the car. I do not have the money to pay for more car rentals and not get reimbursed. The Allstate Claims Adjuster came to take photos of the car and the first thing he did is to remove the taillight before taking the photos. I made him aware of it and he told me that would not make any difference. But I had taken photos prior to him arriving. When the Allstate people phoned me for a report she told me they have to report this to the DMV, I told them it was ok since I was not in fault. Recently I found out that this has not been reported. All I really care about is the monies owed to me.

On 5/26/2017 I was sideswiped and it was a hit and run. My vehicle was towed to 1st Certified Collision Center in Riverside, CA 92501. The vehicle was scheduled to be completed June 9th. But I was notified that my vehicle failed the alignment inspection and they had to reorder parts. This caused an alarm in my mind so I notified who I thought was my claims adjuster Angel **, but come to find out he was not. I was told by the body shop that my vehicle would be done on Monday. I didn't get a call until about 3 p.m. that my vehicle would be done at 5 p.m. I was told by Angel who is in fact Mercury's rental agent that I was allowed to pick it up the next morning.
So Tuesday June 13th at 9:45 am as they drove my vehicle out the first thing I noticed while I was inside the office, was that my vehicle is making a noise, my vehicle has never made that noise before. I made sure to tell the gentleman ** (from 1st Certified). I also called Angel and let him know that I did not feel comfortable taking my vehicle. I was very apprehensive and I did mention to him the only peace of mind I have is the fact that I am getting a second opinion scheduled Wednesday 14th at Volkswagen dealership. I took my vehicle in Volkswagen for a safety test the alignment for the front tires did not pass. It failed the alignment test. They also were able to find out where that noise was coming from and it was coming from something called the pulley that they stated they would have to replace now. This job alone would cost 800 plus dollars and the alignment would be $109.
I called Angel right away let him know the situation and he informed me that he is not my claim adjuster. Mind you I've been talking to this man off and on since my vehicle is in the shop so I assumed he was my claim adjuster. My previous agent Robert who I first initially signed up with Mercury Insurance with informed me to call his partner ** who is currently handling my policy. At this point I will not lie I am 100% irate, a 100% pissed off, a 100% frustrated. Joe asked me to calm down at this point. I told him I cannot calm down. He stated he will contact my claim adjuster who is **. This is the first time I hear of **. Again I will not lie, he probably did call me on the day of the accident after everything was taken care of. He did not set everything in motion.
Another agent started the procedure so if he called me it was to tell me that he received that information and that he was my claims adjuster I cannot recall I was just in the accident. ** wants to take my vehicle back to the body shop that falsely handed my vehicle over back to me with the impression that it had pass alignment inspection. I have the paperwork to prove it. I also have paperwork to prove that VW ran the alignment inspection and my vehicle failed. ** was rude and unprofessional speaking to me as if I was a family member, basically calling me a liar and telling me I did not need to involve Robert who I felt comfortable with, who was as I stated previously my agent and who also gave me permission to contact him if I needed any assistance. I have tried to call Mercury to file a complaint and was unsuccessful. As a paying customer this company has not protected my best interest or my safety.
My vehicle in the long run can suffer more issues with the tires being unaligned and that noise coming from my vehicle that was never there before, I did leave out the fact that I had to speak to a Sam ** who I was on the phone with for over an hour while I was at the Volkswagen dealership. Explain to him the situation he told me that the pulley issue was a maintenance issue which in fact is not true and basically said I had to pay out of pocket for that, he also spoke to the consultant that helped me at Volkswagen, he spoke to the mechanic at Volkswagen all on my cellphone and still did not give me any options to help me as a customer. I am exhausted and would appreciate if Mercury corrected the situation.

I got 1 point for the accident and Mercury raised my insurance $200/yr for the accident and penalized me for driving more than 2000 miles in a year in the used replacement car. That, not being frustrating enough, my daughter moved out in January when she turned 18 years old. She never got a permit and did not want to drive. After she started driving and got her driver's license she had a car with her own insurance at her new residence. Mercury assessed that she had my address on her driver's license, they raised my insurance from 1000 every 6 months to $3,000 every 6 months. That was just to add a driver to my policy. I informed them that she did not live here.
They said I had to get her to change her driver's license address or provide them with proof that she's covered with her own policy. She is over 18, she is an adult and I should not have to go around proving that she doesn't live here as opposed to them proving that she does. It's very unprofessional. I had one of their agents hang up on me because after numerous phone calls, she finally called me back and I told her she needs to do her job. She hung up and I was assigned another adjuster. New adjuster doesn't like my contractor and because of it, this whole thing keeps getting delayed. My contractor that I have chosen is pushy and detailed and the only one fighting for my home to be put back together. They are doing everything they could to save themselves a few hundred $ while we sit and wait. They originally called ServPro out to dry out my solid wood floors. Dry out was not done proper and mold was created. Mercury wouldn't stand up for me, rather they stood behind their contractor (ServPro).
After 3 contractors confirmed ServPro ruined my floor, Mercury was more concerned about going over the limited amount on my mold policy than they were about live fungus growing in my home. The mold was only created because THEIR contractor didn't properly dry my floor. It's been one thing after another. My beautiful solid oak floors have been taken out and we are now living on slab. Mercury should of made me feel taken care of and protected. All they have done was give us grief, and continue to do so. Good luck on trying to call someone. IF you get a hold of anyone, consider yourself lucky. It takes a day or two to get a return phone call with the excuse that "they are really busy". When this is all said and done. I am considering seeking legal action. They make me feel like I'm trying to return a pair of shoes that I have worn everyday for 2 years. Disgusted how I have been treated.

Mercury is the worst insurance you can ever experience. They only take your money premium after premium for years but if the time comes where you need them, they suddenly find an excuse or a way to tell you that you are not covered. Honestly, this happened with me and with one of my friends. I had renter's insurance for my apartment because it was required by my landlord and was paying for it for two years and when I had a water leak that had damages that was valued to $1700 they initially refused to pay and denied the claim, and came up with weird explanations that did not make sense.
It took me months of aggravation, phone calls, emails to various persons in the company and finally when I was about to take the case to court they decide to pay some of it. I totally lost confidence and respect to this company and I have no trust especially after being a loyal customer and having three cars insured with them as well for 5 years. I switched to another company right away and I am even saving around $50 dollars a month.
Find an insurance company that has its own sales rep as Mercury does not and anyone can sell its products whether they are trained or not and these sales reps have to learn about so many different insurance companies that they get confused and give you the consumer wrong information that will come back to haunt you once you need help. My advice is to find an insurance with its own sales reps that work for one insurance company only and this way it is more controlled and you are given proper customer service and reliable information.

My total reimbursement was around 1/3 of the out-of-pocket expense that I paid for a REASONABLE rental car. After I gather the evidence and show them the footage, they accept 85 percent liability. My car was deemed a total loss. Their adjuster Jose ** was handling my case is awful as well as his supervisor Adrienne (Claremount California). They are trying to get me to accept 15 percent liability. Stay away from Mercury insurance! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

Horrible company to deal with, poor customer relations, they lie and steal money. Once you sign up for automatic pay, they continue to take your money out of your account after policy cancelled and give 101 excuses why it can't be returned. They make you do everything through emails which they then say they never got. Found better insurance for 300 dollars a month cheaper. Don't ever deal with this company. You'll regret it.

On Aug 6, 2016, I was involved in a car accident. The other driver ran the light, which caused me to hit his rear corner panel. The police report states the accident was inconclusive, no witness information was given, and the driver had license plates that did not match the vehicles vin number. The other driver now has a witness that come out of nowhere and due to the witness statement; my insurance company has deemed the accident my fault. It took between 4-6 weeks for the insurance company to get a copy of the police report; shortly after receiving the report, the insurance company closed the case. The insurance company told me they did not investigated the accident or the witness, failed to provide any information regarding the case (I initiated ALL calls and emails). Mercury failed to properly investigate and settle instead. So they my premium increased $100.00 per month and 2 points on my driving record. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

I was involved in a minor auto collision recently and everything was handled by Mercury in an appropriate manner except for one person whom was a very disturbing and unprofessional agent. Her name is Magdalena ** who had been assigned my incident. Upon contacting her regarding the traffic collision, I was stunned at her abusive and insulting phone demeanor. She tried to badger me regarding my recollection of the details of the incident. I hope you people have retained the recording of our conversation to hear for yourself just how belligerent and unprofessional this agent is. I'm not going to waste my time explaining everything that was stated as it will only irritate me once again, allowing thoughts of switching insurance companies for our family.
In my opinion, people such as Magdalena ** should never be allowed to speak with clients and kept as far away as possible from phones. With all the competition out there, you don't need people like her giving away your business! I asked for a Supervisor and was contacted by Becky ** from the Claims Department who was extremely nice and professional and appeared to understand the issues with Mrs. **. Mrs. ** explained that she will be taking over my case. And due to Mrs. ** sincere efforts to supersede the previous encounter with a calm and professional attitude, it appears that our faith in Mercury Insurance may be restored.

Aug 21, 2016 my parked car was hit by an insuree of Mercury insurance. The insuree happened to be looking at the damage when I came out the house, her passenger as well along with my guest. It was clear and precise the bumper and angle of the bumper to my driver side door and panel. I call Mercury, make the claim and take it to the repair shop. The damage matches the claim damage both myself, the Mercury, my passenger and the passenger of the car that hit me stated this is the claim damage.
Mercury adjusters declined the claim as pre-existing damage and stated they were only covering the other damage on the bottom driver side by the wheel. Terrible. That is the pre-existing damage. How on earth is my sports car (low to the ground) get hit by a SUV and cause damage down there? I have photos of the predicting damage which took place when I first got the car from another parked car hit and run. The damage they want to cover is 850 vs the 1450 for the actual claim damage. Terrible with photos and all to prove the adjuster is incorrect.

I switched from Farmers Insurance to Mercury Insurance to save about $200 a year. Mercury ended up costing me $300. When I called I wanted my coverage to start on October 1. I reiterated this date several times. They took my payment out of my checking account on September 28. My fault that I didn't double check my proof of insurance when it was sent to me. I didn't think I had to. I didn't realize that my insurance wasn't activated until October 15 by a notice from DMV. When I called Mercury they would not back date my coverage even though they have my money on October 1. This mistake cost me $250 to the DMV. Now a year later a get a notice that I owe them another $62.98 for my four days of coverage (11/14-11/18) and a $50 cancellation fee. So all in all Mercury has screwed me out of $300. They didn't save me a dime. I will never try to save a dollar with someone as dishonest as MERCURY INSURANCE.

We have been faithful Mercury customers for 20 years, since we bought our home. We never had a claim before. Then we have an A/C condensate line failure and have minor water damage with some mold next to the A/C unit. Mercury sends out a claims adjuster who takes one look at the damage and states that: "This must've been happening for a long time." We don't think anything of it until Mercury denies our claim, stating that any damage must be reported within 14 days of the incident. Seriously, who checks inside their A/C closet every 14 days? In any case, we hired Servicemaster to come out to resolve the water and mold. They informed us that the damage was fairly recent and definitely less than 14 days.
We give this information to Mercury and they continue to deny the claim, even though it now complies with their ludicrous stipulation. We then spoke with our insurance broker and even he recommended that we drop Mercury, which we will be doing. We will be forced to pursue damages from them in court. Thanks a lot Mercury!

I had a water leak in my kitchen. Not knowing what to do, a friend said I should call Mercury and file a claim, which I did. Everything went smooth until Mercury's adjuster referred me to a contractor that they recommend and that was when my problems started! Since I had been with Mercury for decades, never had a claim, I figured their contractors would be top notch and the work would be guaranteed. BOY WAS I MISTAKEN! Not only did their contractor ruin my tile floor (which Mercury paid for), never finished the job (Mercury paid for), but now he is trying to sue me in Small Claims Court for work that he did that Mercury did not approve.
With over 14 estimates from both the adjuster assigned to my file and the contractor (Topline aka: RW Construction), nothing was made clear. I emailed my adjuster, their supervisor and went all the way to the President of Mercury Insurance. Almost a year later their contractor tried to put a Mechanics Lien against my home, failed! Now he is taking me to Small Claims Court for money I owe him! How? Why? This was a water leak claim I filed with Mercury Insurance. This was a Mercury Insurance contractor referred to me by the adjuster for Mercury, yet Mercury is now telling me "Oh well"! They will not stand up for me, they are now telling me that their contractors are not "Mercury Contractors", and that there is nothing they can do.
I never signed a contract, never signed a "Change Order" as the contractor was ONLY supposed to replace the tile with tile and NOT granite. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT. All the contractor did was gave me a sample to chose from of the granite and that was it. No mention that it would NOT be covered. Now that he is suing me Mercury wants no part of it! WOW! I'm the customer that has paid my premiums on time for decades, never had a claim, and their contractor is causing me nothing but heartache, and Mercury won't cover it and won't do anything to stand by me their loyal customer! MY LAST WORDS... GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY LIKE AAA OR STATE FARM, where I hear they do stand behind their work, contractors and loyal customers.

After I found out I tried to switch to other companies, but Mercury just never picks up phones, and when they finally did, they said I should send an email and didn't tell me which address I should send it to and what to say in the email, until I asked. No response after sending the email until I send another to ask when can I have the insurance cancelled, and their reply was that I have to inform them 5-10 days in advance. That means I have to pay another 170$. Anyway I'll try my best to stop it as soon as possible. Remember to AVOID MERCURY next time!

Had a minor water leak, fixed the leak without a claim; they would not have covered the amount anyway. 2 months later the tenants said they thought maybe there was mold from the leak. Mold inspection, which I paid for, says maybe there is. Same day as I received the result I opened a claim. Mercury will not assist as they state I needed to report within 1 week of the loss. a) My policy doesn't say "1 week", it says promptly when I know there's an occurrence. b) The occurrence isn't the water leak, it's the possibility of mold. Disappointed that Mercury will not stand behind the policy they wrote me. I will be changing companies ASAP.

Their agent "forgot" to mention this when we open the policy. It's not that we suppose to read the contract but at least when they sold to somebody a new policy THEY ARE IN THE OBLIGATION to tell you that if you cancel, there will impose a penalty, like when they told you about the coverage, price and term. I submitted a complaint with the State of California and waiting for a response. Terrible customer service when you call to their 800' number, you are transferred so many times that you get frustrated. A good tactic to feel helpless and just pay them that money (the 10% penalty).

I had ONE month left and 145$ was paid and I am getting 4.55$ cents back.
I was also lied to about my policy being completely cancelled, my bank account ACH set up, it was coming from the wrong account, and I also am very confused as to how I am charged for a policy I CANCELLED and I don't have a car to be covered. I thought by law, I could not be charged for a full coverage policy unless I had a car. I had a Mercury auto policy recommended by a super flaky broker who I have since stopped doing business with. After a year of coverage, and absolutely zero incidents that would cause my premium to rise, I moved to a new apartment and started getting all these letters saying I had to exclude my roommate as an eligible driver of my car (apparently because he has a poor driving record). Even though I had lived with a boyfriend for the first full year of my policy who had a bad driving record and never had to exclude him! So, I exclude him, and my policy goes up anyway by $40!! Again, my driving record is perfect, so this made absolutely no sense. Then to top it all off, I get another series of letters saying I have to exclude using my car for business purposes, which incidentally, is 95% of what I use my car for.
So I get fed up and cancel my policy. 3 days after I receive confirmation that my policy is cancelled, Mercury direct debits my account for $121. I call my brokerage and they explain the charge was already in the pipeline, but not to worry, I will get a refund check. Just got the check... for $86!! Apparently they charge a cancellation fee! So I'm $35 poorer AFTER cancelling my policy because Mercury just went into my account and took what they wanted. Buyer beware of Mercury in general and any brokerage who recommends them and doesn't disclose their sheisty business practices upfront. If you cancel with them, you better also immediately cancel direct debit AND deny them any further access to your bank account!

I had an accident and the other driver has Mercury Insurance. This person made an illegal U-Turn without using any directional lights from the right lane all the way to the opposite traffic, who does that?! I was on the left lane going about 10 miles/hr on a street when all of a sudden I see her car coming towards me without any notice. I immediately put the breaks on my car and tried to avoid her but she was determined to do this crazy U-Turn. Traveling to other countries, you can see this type of behavior on drivers, doing crazy left turns and U-Turns that cover 2 to 3 lanes but this is the USA! Come on!
Anyways, after I gave my recorded statement to my insurance and called Mercury to give all my information. The claim specialist Brielle ** provided me with the claim number, sent me to a collision center to get an estimate and apologized for what happened to me. She also asked me that how severe were my damages. She explained the insured had very limited liability and they wanted to make sure Mercury was going to be able to make the payment for my accident. I sent all the pictures to both of the insurances showing the accident but after a couple of days my insurance told me that Mercury didn't want to accept liability. The other driver completely lied. Mercury insurance said that she had to go with what her insurer said and denied the claim.
Obviously, they don't want to pay for the damages and even though this person calls herself a claim agent, she obviously doesn't want to do her job properly. The pictures show everything clearly but she's just going with what her insured said. Very disappointing at Mercury insurance. This company doesn't really want to be responsible for what happened, they just want to avoid paying when their insured is at fault. Now, I have to wait for the claim to go to arbitration. I'm pretty sure the arbitrator is going to make a decision right away based on the pictures. Even my claim specialist from my insurance told me that the pictures are pretty straight forward and show that I'm not at fault.
Also, my claim representative tried talking to the Mercury claim representative Brielle but she was uncooperative. The other person lied saying that she made a turn from the left lane, if that would have been the case, the accident pictures would be very different! I just don't understand why Mercury insurance is lingering this issue. If you have an option to choose insurances, please do not use this company. They obviously are poorly trained and don't know how to solve a claim. I don't know how this claim representative sleeps at night knowing of what she does for a living.
