We thought of our house and all the things we have and got a warranty from First American. It was easy submitting a claim. In fact, we just did it over the phone. Their rep asked questions and I told them what we needed, then they sent me the paperwork. They were friendly and answered all my questions. Their technician did a good job, too.

It's always been very easy to request for service. The people come out and they take care of the job. If we have a problem with the service, we just need to call back and let First American know. A lot of times the vendor would also give us their number in case something goes wrong. The claims reps have been helpful too. The only problem I've encountered is when I first call, I get a computer generated answering machine survey wanting to find out what I need. Sometimes I have to say what I need a few times there, then they'll try to figure it out.
My brother has been the person who comes in contact with the technicians. The last time we had someone come out, my brother said the guy was nice and personable although he was having a little cold. He let my brother know what was going on. So far, the quality of the work is good and I haven't had to call back. It's been easy for us to contact First American. They have a very good customer service and they get the job done.

I got what I needed from First American so it has been great. It was an electrical problem and I had them out twice as it took a couple of times to figure out what it was. I have already recommended First American and my sister got the insurance last year.

When I lived with my sister, they had one of First American's policies so we got one too. We decided that if anything goes wrong, it would be nice to have a warranty program. When we file a claim, we just call them and they send somebody out. As soon as we call, someone else calls to verify that they would be out on a certain day and time. And, it all worked out. Plus, the technician who came in fixed everything that needed to be fixed and left. The experience was wonderful. We were very happy.

My HVAC went out 12/20/15. It's now 2/20/16 and we are still sitting without a working HVAC. We waited two months for the technician to order a part that they told us from day one they would not be able to locate. I pushed FAH continuously to try to find the part themselves but they refused. First citing that they did not have a part number and then telling us that the technician never communicated. They were not going to be able to find it. None of it makes sense - why do you need the part number only to sit on it for weeks?
When I finally asked to be transferred to a supervisor, they suddenly decided to order the part (which came in less than a week - so we waited for 2 months for nothing). I still asked to be transferred and was hung up on. So the part comes in and is installed (I guess). The technician tells me that the problem was misdiagnosed. After 5 visits, it is a leak and not the part (or at least what the prior two techs did probably made the part go out). I've now paid several hundred dollars to have nothing work. They assigned a new technician who has not contacted us in a week. I get a call every Tuesday (like clockwork) that says nothing. I will be canceling after this finally gets resolved. My fear is if I cancel now, they will find a way to not fix the HVAC. Stay away from these warranties - nothing but a pain.

First American was included in our home sale and they're great in helping us with the little things that may go wrong when buying a home. Their response is good and the people that come out do a good job. I'm a very hard-to-please person so I expect optimal customer service. And we've used electricians, washing machine and oven repairmen and we've always been happy. That's why we're going to keep on it every year and we buy the maximum policy.
I've even told several people that they should get First American too. Unfortunately, my son bought the house next door and another warranty company came with his house sale and they're absolutely horrible. He hasn't even been able to use them even once even though he's had all kinds of little things go wrong. They made it so difficult to use that he doesn't even want to bother. So I found out that companies are not all created the same.
But with First American, filing claims is very easy. I used to do it by phone, but my daughter set me up online and 9 times out of 10 they respond to work within 24 hours, sometimes not more than 48 hours. And if I call, I can have instantaneous reply and setup. In general, we've waited only one to two days for service unless it's a major appliance, then it takes a little bit longer like a week or so.

We've submitted a claim twice and have been pleased both times. We had someone take care of our air conditioner and the recent one was the dishwasher and the ice maker. Both men were professionals and polite, and got the job done expeditiously so we’re very pleased. We have ice now whereas before we didn’t, and the dishwasher is quiet whereas before people used to comment about the sound so it’s amazing that the new motor made that much of a difference. First American is reliable, responsive and I would highly recommend it.

Submitting my claim with First American was a little difficult. Their representative was okay, but it took a long time before they answered my call. Sometimes they put me on hold for 45 minutes. After that, they have to assign a contractor. The first technician simply said I wasn't at home but my wife was there. They told me to call First American back so they would send information requested before they can come back and do the job. So I did and they sent the information to the Silas, who came an hour late. The appointment was 12 o’clock and I have to wait until 1 o’clock. But finally, he did the job and it was excellent.

I have had the warranty for 2 years and when I called about our dishwasher they said it was not covered. They would not give any other answer. I wanted our money back from this scam company. They said they would get back to me... 2 weeks later they still have not called or returned our money. Don't let them scam you. After doing some research about them I found out they have over 500 complaints for not covering things under the warranty.

First American suited my needs more than others so I went with them. When submitting a claim, doing it online is the best deal. It's simple and easy, and someone will get back to me shortly, while if I do it through a phone call, I'd be waiting forever. Their claims representative were knowledgeable, kept me abreast as to who else I'm going to be dealing with and if I had any problems, they’ll inform me to call back so they can be aware of what the situation was and they’ll try to rectify it. The technician came out extremely late but I was happy with the service and he was knowledgeable, very professional and did a good job. Overall, everything worked out for the best. I'm happy and satisfied. If I had to use them again, I would.

I changed from American Home Shield to First American and didn’t have as many out-of-pocket expenses. I also know Michelle and she’s wonderful so we decided to change over. I’m a realtor so I use First American a lot. The claims reps were outstanding. I had a water heater that needed to be replaced. The technician came out, looked at it promptly and they’re replacing it today. I was just surprised that we had a $250 charge to replace certain lines on our condo to upgrade. But the property manager said everything’s going great and they’re very nice.

The experience with First American has been good for me. The technicians that came to my home did a good job. The only problem I had was when we were out at Glendale California, they had contracted with some real crooks. I caught them at several things trying to rip us off. They charged for two central air-conditioning units and tried to put the second one in on the roof next to the first one which made no sense to me. I don't know if First American did anything with them because they came out once and I refused to have them service me. But all in all, First American was very responsive and I'm glad to have them with me.

On several occasions submitting a claim to First American has been pretty good, but on one or two occasions it was absolutely terrible. It took over a month and a half to get our cooler fixed during the summer. That was a year ago. They kept arguing over whether or not to fix it or replace it, and they finally put new parts in it. They had two different outfits that’s come out here and they look at it and leave. And somebody else has looked at it and left, and nobody would do anything. They're also more expensive than a couple of companies that I have talked to some friends about. But First American's people on the phone have always been nice and courteous, and in my most recent experience, the guy took care of business like he was supposed to and fixed whatever needed to be fixed and left.

WORST COMPANY!!! I have filed one claim with this company and it has been a nightmare. I have a barely functioning cooktop that they have said they are unable to repair. My current cooktop is a JennAir, a higher end appliance company, as evidenced by any of their new appliances on the market today. Unfortunately, the repairman sent out to service my cooktop was unable to find the serial number and therefore no parts can be ordered. The offered replacement was the cheapest (and worst looking) possible cooktop. According to this company, they only need to match the number of burners, color, and BTUs (which is also not determined because they do not have the serial number). Additionally, they will not install the cheap new cooktop because they don't cover any of the auxiliary problems that arise with installation, like making sure the hole in my granite countertops is the right size. That part is my problem.
After speaking to an installer I learned the cost of installation will be more than the cash option offered by First American. It's a racket! The amount offered just happens to be the same amount as the insurance cost me in the first place. If my car insurance company worked like this and I had a BMW, would they be able to replace it with a Kia because it has 4 wheels, a steering wheel and it's white??? The purpose of insurance should be to cover the value of what you have. It should not be to replace it with the cheapest piece of crap on the market and run off laughing all the way to the bank! I would rather they just fix my old appliance. It is not the fault of the customer they are unable to do so. I would caution anyone thinking about purchasing insurance from this company. Perhaps another company is more honest. I will be filing a complaint with my state regulators.

When we bought our home, First American was on it so we kept it. Their claims process has been easy. We just call over the phone, tell them the problem and the next day, somebody calls us to schedule an appointment to fix it. We had no problems with their claims rep as well. When we called the company, they were really nice. So far, the only claims we had were the garbage disposal and the washing machine. It was an excellent experience with the former, but we’re having a little problem with the company that First American hired for the latter. The washing machine has been broken for over a week and the one who’s supposed to be taking care of it is somewhere else.
He came to the house for the first time over a month ago. He fixed the machine and said, “You have a year warranty.” We were not happy with that fix and the technician, though. We didn’t hear from this person at all until we made a couple phone calls and left messages. Several days later he called and said it was going to be two more days before he could come to the house. And then he had to order the part and it took over a week to get it before he could fix the washing machine. I’m 69 years old and I have to wash clothes every two days which is hard. Then three weeks after the repair, the same problem happened and now, we can’t get him over here to fix it. We’ll be calling First American this morning to tell them about it.
Overall, First American has been a good company and we haven’t had any problems with them, but we had a bad experience with the technician that they sent over the house. That’s not their fault, but they need to be stricter to make sure the customer is happy about it. They should make sure the contractor calls the customer in 24 hours and say, “Hey, I’d be there in three days or in four days.”

The technicians that worked on our furnace were courteous, professional and knew what they were doing. Then there's an icemaker in our kitchen that we're having issues with. I heard from my boss the experience he had in dealing with First American so I chose them. They have great customer service. My claim was executed in a very timely manner, and I'm really happy with the service. The technician was also very professional and knew exactly what he was doing and fixed my problem within 45 minutes to an hour when I was actually told from previous HVAC companies that I needed to have the unit replaced, which wasn't the case at all. I'm glad that he could help me out. I liked that the contractor out of Decatur, Alabama contacted me and said he was going to be there at my house at 9:00 that morning, and he came in ahead of schedule. And a lot of contractors will do that - they’ll call you the morning up and say, "can you try it about afternoon,” even though you’ve already got time and taken off work. And, on a scale of 1 to 10, their work quality is absolutely a 10.
Glad we could be of service, Jason!

After a couple of days of posting this review, another technician was send to fix the issue, and the issue was resolved satisfactorily. I would consider four days to be slow for fixing urgent request like partial power failure. But based on their later explanations, there were a couple of calls I missed from them, and this communication delay might be part of the problem.

The service requests takes random amount of time. Sometimes it is first day some other time you will never hear from them. If you call them, you will be in line for 10-15 minutes for a service representative to answer. Though this may be fine for minor issues, very unhappy with an urgent request (for electrical system which shut down heater and refrigerator) for fixing the electrical system. After raising an emergency service request and many days of calling them it takes many many days (3 days, two business days, no-one showed up so far) for. Even the service providers they assign the request, do not answer the calls half the time. You will be much better of calling someone by yourself than paying FAH and being treated like they are paying you instead.

On 11/23/2015 I contacted First American about my microwave. The very next day the contractor came out, and said that he would have to order parts and would be in touch. He accepted the $65.00 service charge and that is the last I have seen of him. After contacting First American numerous time and not hearing back from them, except to tell me that the contractor would be in touch with me, I continued to wait. I finally talked to the contractor in December, and he said that the parts were back ordered and it would take approx 3 weeks to get them. Wasn't too happy to hear that, but I dealt with it and waited for his call. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks, still no call, left messages, not returned. Contacted First American, didn't hear back. Wrote a letter to the main office, didn't get a reply. Reported them to BBB, and that's when I FINALLY heard that the contractor had received the parts and would be contacting me. Not True!
Waited another 2 weeks, finally got a call from the contractor and he sent out 2 of his employees to repair the microwave. Worked on it for about 90 minutes, then turned it on and it was doing the same thing that it originally did. They contacted their boss, Chris, and they put me on the phone with him. He said that they would have to bring the microwave into the shop, which made me very nervous as I didn't know if I would ever see it again. He said he would contact me the next week to bring it back. Fast forward to 2 weeks later and I still hadn't heard from him, nor First American either. Left him a message, no return call..
Today I texted him and asked him what the problem was. He texted me back (guess he was afraid to talk to me in person) and said that the microwave couldn't be fixed, that First American should replace it but that he was out of it.. done. Thanked me for being patient (as if I had a choice) and that was that. I have called 3 times to their claims department, left messages, two today and still haven't heard back from them. So, as it stands now, I don't have a microwave, and First American sure doesn't seem to care one bit. So, my suggestion, if you're planning on getting a home warranty program, look elsewhere, as they have horrible customer service.

I haven't had any issues with them at all. I had a technician come to my home last year and I told them I didn't want that guy back in my house. He wouldn't have enough sense to plug it in when the unit works, less work on mine and I told them from here on out that if that was the only contractor they had to do heat and air conditioner, I didn't want their service.
I had some issues this year and they sent me another guy. He was really good and I didn't have any more issues with him. They make sure that everything was right. I have been a customer for 17 years across 4 different properties. I filed a claim for a light in the bedroom. We received two different calls from First American. My wife received a voicemail saying since it was connected to a ceiling fan it was not covered. A different representative called me and said that they did not have any providers in my area and I would need to call a local one, pay them and submit for reimbursement (which implies coverage). Today I called, was told light kits were not covered. I told them I was not an electrician and did not know if it was the light kit or not. I told them to send out a provider so I could determine if it was something that was covered or not. Was put on hold for an extended time. They came back and said they have no providers in my area.
I then called the electrician they had sent out before and asked if they were still doing work for First American. The company is Universal Electric Inc., Grandbury Texas and they said that they were still a provider. Conflicting information and lied to about providers. I pay them over $1300/year (have their top coverage offered). If you have the most inclusive policy, they are not honest and they don't cover a light in the bedroom because it's attached to a ceiling fan. Beware of what you're getting into. First American has been very good to me. I had it when I bought my home and the realtor gave it to me. I also had it in Arizona, where I moved from, and they were good so I wanted to keep it here. The claims process is good except that it takes too long to get to them. 20 minutes wait time and then “We’ll call you back.” I would hope that they would have more operators.
The first technicians that they called were very arrogant and said they’ll take two days. I had a water leak and possible molds, and called back First American and told them. They said they'll get me another technician, which they did, and they were much better. It's been awesome. However, the company should give some sort of a premium to people who recommend their service. My dear friend has a home and she’s not happy with her homeowners. I would recommend First American to her, but I don’t know if I want to do it or not. It might be a good idea for First American to say if we recommend their service to someone else, they'll give us a prize or a discount. Most companies are doing that.

I call the number and place it that way. I had a little trouble with the automated thing the last time because it couldn’t understand my hillbilly accent. But other than that, everything has been good.
The claims representatives were friendly and knowledgeable. The technicians have been pretty good. They listen to what I have to say and were very explicit about what they were doing and were really thorough. The only one I didn’t have much interaction with was the garage door guy. He looked at it and then went to check what was covered and the next thing I know, he knocked on the door and he was done. Overall, as far as the quality of work is concerned, I have no complaints. First American originally came with the house that we bought. And when I had an electrical problem in the ceiling, I called the company and they said they had no electricians in their phonebook that they could call up; they had nobody under contract. They said “Go out and find a contractor and see if he can do it for cheap and then we’ll reimburse you.” That didn’t work out well so I went another way. On the other hand, I have used them a couple of times for some plumbing problems and that was okay. The claims rep did what she had to do and the technician, Einstein Plumbing, was great.

The online experience in submitting a claim is good. I was assigned to some very good service technicians, so I've got everything covered. One came to have the dishwasher fixed and found out that everything was good. He gave some really good tips on how to wash, spin it up a little bit and then get it up and running. I also had the plumbing guys come in from Street Plumbing and still have some pending work with them. Then the thermostat guys came in and replaced the thermostat's watch. They were just minor repairs on all three items. I'm very satisfied with my experience with First American. The claims representatives followed up and took care of things that are pending.

I have to pay the actual fee for them to show up and then from there on out it's a very easy process. They've been excellent. I don't think I'd ever purchase another house without First American because of the peace of mind knowing if something goes wrong, it will be taken care of without me having to set anything aside. Any attempt to contact their customer service will take you over an hour to even reach a representative, and you'll get generic non-committal answers at that. I was without water to my entire home for OVER A WEEK while I waited for them to dispatch one of their many inadequate contractors to come out to tell me my water heater needed to be replaced - despite the tank flooding into my home. When I chose to receive a payout to rid myself of their negligent business practices, they only paid for HALF of the final replacement cost, despite me arguing my case for the inadequate payout. Our furnace went out. They sent a company out who did an estimate to replace the unit. The contractor told us one thing then told the company another. It was going to cost us $1868 is non-covered expenses to get the unit installed. When I asked for a 2nd opinion because I didn't think the repairs or modifications not covered were truly necessary. They refused. So we opted to take the cash out option where they were supposed to send me a check for the amount of the furnace and install with the supposed required modifications. 10 days later after we fronted the bill to get it installed since temps were in the 30's they told us they were sending us $658.
I find it VERY hard to believe a furnace can be bought and installed for $658 considering we went with the lowest bidder and the install alone was $800. The furnace at wholesale price was $2000. My guess is that they pay their contractors such low rates that the contractors have to find a way to recover the $ and bill the homeowner. We would have done better to save the money spent on the premium and just paid for repairs ourselves. Ridiculous.

Shortly before company #2 arrived, company #1 called saying they had the parts and wanted to install them, but when they heard that First American had switched to company #2, company #1 cancelled. That lady should not have a job. But I'd still recommend First American. Overall, the experience was okay.

We knew of First American from our realtor whom we bought our house from. It was proposed by our sellers so we stayed with them, plus they had agreed to pay for the first year. Submitting a claim to First American has mostly been good and easy. My interactions with their reps and technicians have been positive too, although lately, I've been submitting claims online so I don't necessarily talk to their reps. Their technicians' work quality has been good.

First American was recommended to us by my realtor when we bought the house. I know that home warranty through them isn't as inclusive but at least it gives some protection to a homebuyer because there's always going to be something that goes wrong with the house whether it's new or old. Submitting a claim is an easy and relatively painless process. I was all over the phone with just yes or no answers.
The technicians they sent out were all great. A technician who came to my house was very thorough in checking everything out. I had a relative here waiting for him and being that I wasn't able to be here, he called me and let me know everything that was going on step by step. I got my issue resolved. We even told a family friend, whom we sold a house to, to get a home warranty from First American because we cannot guarantee everything in the house. And when they had an issue there, they loved the claim process too. I'm glad that First American has done right to us and to a friend of a family.

First American came with the home and keeping it was one of the better things that we've done because there were times when we actually used it and they've come in handy. When we submit a claim it has been fairly easy. We call the number and tell them what the situation is. They find the person who can come out and resolve the issue. It took a day or two at the most and the technician gets right to it. It didn't take him much time. When the heater wasn't working he did what he needed to do and I haven't had an issue with it since. I keep telling people and family members, if they own a home, they should have home warranty and I recommend the one that we have.

First American Home Buyers Protection came with the house when we bought it. Submitting a claim was an easy process. All the interactions with the claims representative that I have done in the past went well. The technicians get the job done, and if they can't, they always come back and take care of it. The quality of the work performed was excellent. I’ve been referring them to other homeowners who have been buying products from their company. I also have Home Shield, and they always give me some credit such as a $50 gift card every time I refer them. First American doesn’t do that. I’m not expecting that but it would be nice.

The homeowner I rent from has First American for appliances and it has been one continued bad experience after another. First it is ridiculously difficult to get a hold of someone and when you finally do, the service support is disgraceful. Second the majority of the companies they contract to fix appliances are unskilled labor that do not fix the appliances, but continue just to replace parts, well beyond the cost replacing the appliance. I've spent over 80 hrs on the phone and waiting for technicians just to fix the heater and it's been over a month since we first contacted First American.
When our stove control panel needed to be replaced (most people would just replace the 30 yr old stove), it took 6 visits, 2 temp sensor replacements and then when the technician came out to put the controller in, he said it was the wrong one. After he left we read the instructions and it was actually the correct replacement so we just did it ourselves and it's worked ever since. Bottom line this company is a complete rip off - you have to start over again with every technician visit, 95% of the technicians are untrained/skilled, and they will just continue to schedule visits and collect $65 every time without any concern for the client not having heater for over a month... UNACCEPTABLE.

We’ve been using First American since we moved into the house in 2014. They’ve always been really good. Anytime we ever had a problem they took care of it, and we’ve always had everything that needed to be repaired through them repaired. It was the home warranty that was already on the house when we purchased the house and we kept it. If we were dissatisfied we wouldn’t pick them and we would have gone with somebody else because you get a ton of people sending you requests, but we’re satisfied with them and even if the other price is lower, it doesn’t matter.
I usually call when I submit my claims, but I have also submitted them online and it was just as easy, and surprising to me, I did get a callback around the same time usually from the company itself. I usually get a call that day, unless it’s at the end of the day, then I get it the next morning or so. And then whoever the contractor is, they call within a day or so and I’m always given the phone number for them if I need them sooner, so I’m very happy.
The contractors that they sent were usually excellent although the last group was pretty weird. They had to come out three times, but that’s because we needed a part. And they thought they fixed it and they didn’t so they had to come back, and then that’s when they found out they need to order a part and then they had to come back for the last time. But always it’s a different person who came back, which was very difficult because how do they know the turnover. How do we know what they needed to do? But the last guy who came did an excellent job and he had everything fixed. There was one time though when a contractor changed our garbage disposal and our sprayer doesn’t work now. I think it's ‘cause I didn’t hook it up, but I haven’t complained.

My brother-in-law did not have good luck with them in Texas. I'm in California and we've had good experiences with them. We had two houses on First American. One was our second home which we now live in, and the first house we sold last year. I’ve had one for ten years and this house that we’re in now has been with them since 2008. There have been so many interactions with the contractors that First American used and all have been excellent except for one. The contractor didn’t work well with us. We asked to be put on a list where we would not have to deal with that contractor again and they were good about following through on it.
When we were at odds with a claim, we worked with the manager and the supervisor and it was resolved in a positive way for us. The supervisor that we had when we were living up in Oakland was okay but the gal that we work with down here really went out of her way to make everything work. Without an ounce of exaggeration I can tell you that I have spent literally HOURS on the phone with them in hopes of finding resolution for simple issues like getting my ice maker fixed. When something goes wrong in my house, I'm able to get it taken care of. It used to be easier to talk to somebody when submitting a claim, but everybody's online now so everything's automated. The process is easy. I had two breakdowns at the same time. I had trouble eventually getting in touch with Sears so I contacted First American and told them that I was having problems and the next day, I was able to get in touch with Sears.
For my dryer, it took two weeks before somebody got here but it was non-emergency anyway. Once he was here, he knew exactly what the problem was and had it fixed in 20 minutes. The other one was my hot water heater which was a little more frustrating. It happened to break down on a Saturday but the claim didn't even go to them on Monday, and then they get two days to respond from that day. And then when he first came out, he didn't have the right parts. So, it took longer than I wanted to get my hot water back online. But once he fixed it, it was good and it's still working. I'm satisfied with the quality of the work that has been done so I'm keeping and planning to use them again, and would obviously recommend them.

Anytime you purchase a house, it's good to have a home warranty because anything can come up. I went with First American as my home warranty provider because somebody who is evidently one of their customers told me about them and I've been with them now for about three years. The last time I used their home warranty, it was for the heating in my house about two months ago and it wasn't too good. Submitting the claim with them was good and First American did what they had to do. But I'm very dissatisfied with the contractor who came out.
The contractor that they have on their program called me and set up an appointment, but they didn't show up at the time that they said they were going to show up. When they came out, they investigated to see what my problem was, which was that my thermostat was out. So they had to order and get it. Then they told me that somebody was going to contact me with scheduling for them to come back out to do that and this took some days. I hadn't heard from them, so I called them and they put me on another schedule for somebody to come out. Again, they didn't show up when they said they were supposed to show up. But once the technician came to our home, he did his job and the quality of the work that he performed was good once he did it. Also, my interactions with him were good.
It's only that the contractor was not reliable with setting up appointments. They need to be prompt when they give you a time. It went up about two or three hours from when they were supposed to be there. They didn't show up until almost eight hours. It had me wondering why they weren't coming. I don't have a problem with their giving me a schedule. I'll work with whatever schedule they give me. I took off the days that they said they were coming. But whatever schedule they give me, they should do that. But if they've got a scheduled appointment to come and see someone to do something, and if they're not going to make it, then it's up to them to call and tell me that they're going to be running late and what time they're going to get there, not me calling them. They have to let the customer know.

I am a licensed CA real estate agent for 15 years and I am responding as an agent and a consumer who recently selected First American Home Warranty as our home warranty company on a recent purchase. We had a plumbing leak several weeks after we remodeled and moved into our property. The leak occurred in our master bathroom which drained into our kitchen causing significant damage. It was a strong flowing leak and we called First American for service. They unfortunately couldn't get a vendor out to our property for 2 days. They offered us to go to an outside vendor not on their list to handle the claim and stated we would get reimbursed with prior authorization from them for the work needed for completion. We followed all steps correctly and called to receive authorization, which was approved, provided the invoice and work print up to them as requested.
It has now been over 2 months since we sent them the paperwork and they still have yet to reimburse us over $500. Myself and my assistant have called numerous times to check on the claim and we continue to get the runaround and excuses why the claim has yet to be paid. This weekend we now received a letter stating they are now requesting the actual pipe that was replaced for evidence so the claim can be paid. That was thrown away several months ago when our insurance adjuster gave us the bid for clean up and build back. Their lack of professionalism has baffled me and I have used them before with other purchases and referred them to countless clients and never had an experience like this before. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with their lack of service and the amount of time to settle this claim!

First American had the most comprehensive plans and it's quick submitting a claim with them. If it's something that's an emergency, it takes a few days. But the longest that I've waited for something to get fixed was a week. The contract mentions that I don't get to pick the technicians that come to our home. But I'd like to get to pick who I want to work with because there are some local people who would probably work with them that they don't use. They keep going to the same people.
Though it was good with First American, what I don't like is the policy that each individual company has, like Sears. If I have someone come out to take a look at something before they came to it, I usually have them evaluate it so I can get a part number. That way it makes it easier for me to help the technician when he actually does come out. Usually, depending on who I go with, if a person comes out and fixes the problem temporarily, then they're going to charge me the $65 needed to come out even though they didn't do anything because when they show up, there's nothing wrong with my appliance at the time, like with my refrigerator.
I had to wait over a week for my refrigerator to get repaired, so that leaves me without a refrigerator for a week. So I called someone else to temporarily fix it. When the Sears tech finally came out, although my refrigerator wasn't actually broken at the time, he was going to charge me that money anyway. That's not cool. If there’s a tech with me ahead of time and I already have the part number that I need, the tech should be able to fix it.
