Farmers home insurance rocks! This is the most impressive insurance company I have ever dealt with! They paid $45k to replace my damaged roof and approved/funded the claim within 24 hours! Very impressive company!!

I paid two months when the policy renewed, two months the next month and three months the next. They sent me a cancellation notice because they insist the year has to be paid in Advance. THIS COMPANY SUCKS!!! I started the policy with the agent in Atascadero, CA. This is ridiculous because I was never behind!!!

I received a flyer in the mail offering me a premium on my homeowners' insurance of $660/year. I called the phone number on the flyer. They referred me to Farmers Insurance, an agent named Bruce **. I called Bruce for a quote on my three homeowners policies. Farmers Insurance quotes were more than 500% higher than the quotes I received from AllState Insurance. I think the payments are okay, but would love to see the deductible of $1000.00 less and more in line with the payments. Unfortunately, I can speak toward their service response or customer service team since I have not had to file a claim in 10 years.

I bundled my cars with my home and it's 1/2 the price of State Farm bundled which I had before. I compared the policies and there is nothing different about them except the price and I have a great deductible of only $1000. I am very happy with them. They also gave me a low earthquake insurance price.

LaTroya ** helped me save ~$1,500 on my homeowner's policy AND helped me get even more coverage than I had before! She provided EXCELLENT customer service throughout the entire process. She really TOOK THE TIME to make sure I understood what I was getting and TAILORED my policy to what I needed and wanted. After finalizing the policy, I was told I needed a 4 point inspection (I already paid for and provided a wind mitigation report). Despite this miscommunication, LaTroya went OUT OF HER WAY to figure it out and RESOLVE the issue. I hope to never have to file a claim, but I hope she is still there if I ever do! She is the BEST! I hope Farmers and her direct supervisor know what a GEM she is and how AMAZING she is at her job!

My Farmers insurance agent is always available to help me, even with the Covid lockdown. By phone or email, I can always reach his office. He even helped me when my mortgage company tried to impose their insurance on me. They apparently thought my policy had lapsed, but they were wrong. I couldn't get help from the mortgage company, but my Farmers agent actually called them on the phone to confirm that they received his paperwork in the mail, and he got their assurance that they would not be adding charges to my mortgage payments for their imposed insurance.

I've had Farmer's homeowner's insurance for over 15 years for 2 homes. Recently I had an AC unit replaced and they left a crack in a pipe that leaked for 3 months before I discovered it. Farmer's has refused to cover any of the damage. They found a loophole in my coverage and exploited it. NO coverage after paying thousands of dollars for over 15 years. I could tell immediately from the tone in the woman's voice they were not going to help me. DON'T go with them. Yes, they may be cheaper but there's a reason for that. They have phrases and vague statements in their coverage that allows them to get out of doing anything at all for you. They are NOT in the business of protecting or supporting the homeowner.

After searching numerous insurance companies, Farmers had the best price and coverage. It helps that I have all of my cars and homes with Farmers, so they give me a percentage off, but I still haven't found anyone who can beat their prices. When I call my agent, she is always available and answers any questions I have. Customer service has declined in our society, so having great customer service is important to me.

I have stuck with Farmers Insurance because I get multi-policy discounts. I tried to switch to AAA, but they will not insure homeowners in a fire prone area. I have wanted to put claims in several times with Farmers, but they said if I do my rates will go up. That is ridiculous. What good is it to insure especially when their rates are constantly going up anyway.

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER. Save yourself the hassle and go to a more reputable company. This company is quick to take your money but when you file a claim, they will NOT - under ANY circumstance - pay up. We filed two claims with them, which costed us over $25k from our pocket, and they wouldn't pay anything. In fact, when Farmers did their "investigation", they called the flood company and asked ONE question and HUNG UP ON THEM! They were unprofessional and denied us on bad faith. They DO NOT PAY any claims - at all. My neighbors had the same problems with them and they were also told that they do not pay for their claims. I can't believe the trouble we had to go through with them for months.

I wanted to share my negative experiences dealing with Luis **, his agency, and Farmers Insurance and would not recommend doing business with him or Farmers.
2. When I initially bought my homeowners policy, none of the agents ever bothered to discuss or review my policy even though I asked for assistance. The best any of the agents did was email or have short phone conversations. It was really up to me to ask all of the questions and guide myself through the process. They offered zero advice or help.
3. None of the agents ever bothered to discuss or highlight major policy limitations and issues that should have been brought to my attention. ALSO, THE APPLICATION SAID NOTHING ABOUT VITAL LIMITATIONS.
Fast forward to my dealings with Mr. **: As my homeowners policy neared expiration last year, I emailed the agent asking for help renewing, but rec'd no response. After several days, ** finally responded telling me he was the new agent and that the other had retired. At no time did ** ever bother to contact me to say he was the new agent, nor that the policy was about to expire, nor did he ever offer to review or discuss the policy renewal, and instead just passed me off to his assistant to handle the details. And this was only after I waited over a week for him to finally get working on the renewal. During that time I actually had to waste time looking for another agent to take over the policy due to his delayed response. He showed zero interest in helping me with the policy or understanding my needs, even though the house is over 50 years old.
I then contacted his agency for a new auto policy. Without going into details, his assistant bungled the process, failed to communicate and update me, etc. It was all up to me contact them for updates etc and it took weeks to finally bind coverage. Then I recently had a plumbing issue which resulted in a recommendation to replace my sewer line which will be very expensive, $15,000+. I later found out that Farmers has a $2000 limit on this coverage, And also found out that most other carriers actually fully cover this sort of loss. Don't get a farmers homeowners policy, they don't cover many of the standard losses that most other carriers cover and their agents don't disclose any of it to policy holders!!
When I called ** to discuss, he emphatically told me "the prior agent should have offered to review your needs and the policy with you at the beginning and disclosed this limit. That is Farmers policy and that's what I always do. I'll look into this and get back with you." Then ** calls me back the next day, and totally flips the script and tells me "We have no record of you requesting help. It's up to the policy holder to request help, not the agent." In other words, rather than try to help and accept responsibility, or backup what he had told me the day prior, he chose to blame me instead. This conduct should tell you everything you need to know about how Luis ** does business, and his lack of respect and care for his policy holders. Based on my experiences, which are all true, I would not recommend doing business with farmers or Luis **. If ** tries to dispute any of these facts, I will respond again.

Filed a claim in regard to our washer hose bursting in our condo. Although we wiped up the water as quickly as possible, some seeped to the condo below causing minor damage. Our condo, however, was not damaged at all. Our liability agent requested all documentation in regard to owning our condo including rules and regulations, agendas etc. What does that have to do with a washer hose bursting?? But we contacted our Hoa and they forwarded the information. Also information and contact numbers for the condo owner downstairs plus the plumber/company who repaired and replaced the washer hoses.
Well time passed and my neighbor contacted me...laughing! He said Farmers contacted him and told him the claim will not be honored because there was no negligence on my part??!! And the only way they would pay is if I was negligent... Omg. He said that was the stupidest explanation he's ever heard! How would I when the washer hose would burst!! So...needless to say, make sure you find out about liability claims especially...exactly what and how everything is covered. We plan to sell soon and definitely won't be using Farmers

We have had our new home for almost 3 years. Over the winter we had our roof leak due to our very damming and it flooded one of our bedrooms and leaked through the floor. We called our Farmers Insurance rep right away and they send a woman over to check our roof. She did a thorough inspection and told us all the damage should be 100% covered due to the roof leaking. She said it was really bad and was going to do a report. Out of nowhere the report came back and said we had lichen on our roof and nothing will be covered. Which was completely false and the lady never even mentioned that. We had to fight again with them, they sent another woman over and she breezed through the inspection and NEVER EVEN CHECKED THE ROOF! She told us our house was fine even though we have a leak and now mold due to the leak.
They basically sent her here to appease us and she had no intention of even inspecting anything. Yet again the report came back that our roof is fine. WHAT A SCAM! I have no idea why we even have home insurance. They basically lied to us because they don’t want to pay for our roof to be fixed. Now we have to hire a lawyer to go after them for insurance fraud. This had been over months now and never resolved and now we have black mold because they refuse to fix our roof! Please save your money and home and go with another reputable insurance company that will not just take your money every month for no reason! P.S. Roof coverage is (SUPPOSEDLY) included in our insurance plan.

We had experienced a flood in our upstairs bathroom that caused water damage to the living room ceiling below. Within days suddenly the living room ceiling completely collapsed, falling with such force that it broke our 3 inch thick hardwood coffee table in half. My 80 year-old mother-in-law escaped literally within 30 seconds of being crushed.
We called Farmers within hours of the disaster. It was the kind of unexpected catastrophe any homeowner could never imagine happening but would assume any reputable home insurance company would cover. We were in shock when Farmers did not respond to us despite 4 separate attempts to contact them as instructed in the policy over the phone, online, and via text.
When we finally got a representative on the phone four days later, we were in shock when he quickly told us Farmers did not cover homeowners when their ceilings fall in. It was the quintessential moment that every homeowner assumes they will never have to face because they trust that when they routinely pay their $1400 annual home insurance premium each year, they are secure knowing their home insurance company will not leave them stranded in the event of a major catastrophe.
We insisted he come to assess the damage before he gave us this type of pact response. We were again in shock when the representative came to our home, looked up at a 10 by 3 foot hole in our ceiling and a demolished hardwood coffee table, and flatly told us the damage was not covered because, he insisted, it only involved the ceiling moving, and not because of water damage from the upstairs bathroom. I have no idea how a homeowner could foresee or prevent this type of experience. Shame on Farmers for leaving homeowners stranded in the midst of a major home disaster.

We had a house fire on Christmas Day 2018. It is now 07 May 2019 and they just now decided to extend the lease on the temporary housing until 31 Jul 2019. This is after I repeated told them construction has not started because they lowballed the repairs. The claims adjuster was in and out of my house in less than 2 hours. I was there the whole time talking to the fire investigator. This claims adjuster missed the floor joists to the second fire shrinking from 1.5 inches to 1 inch due to being burned. The claims adjuster stated in the scope of loss the floor joists can be cleaned and sealed.
I went and hired an architect and the architect said they are unstable and need to be replaced. On top of all this, because Farmers is dragging their feet, we ended up with extensive water damage and mold due to a water leak. We had the water turned off on 27 Dec 2018. All the documents Farmers had on their portal I have downloaded and printed out. Upon extensive review, they have many contradictions in their own documents. At this point, I am contacting attorneys to get the proper settlement for fix our home correctly.

On or about July 2, 2016 I called my agent Terry ** here in Saint Paul to inform him that I had some shingles on the ground and that a roofer had told me that I had hail/wind damage. A Farmer’s representative came to my residence and informed me that there was no damage, and therefore I had no claim. After repeated calls to Farmers on or about May 17th 2017 Farmers finally admitted that there was wind damage to the roof. Action was taken and payouts were made on two different occasions as one adjuster was replaced by another. The roof was replaced due to the inability to match the roof shingles, and the job was finished in late 2017, the final payment to me was made on Dec 26 2017.
I continued my Household policy with Farmers until approximately Feb of 2019, when I was informed by Terry **, the local agent for Farmers that my policy would increase from the previous amount of about $2,200 per year to $4,200 or thereabouts. Flabbergasted at this doubling of the policy I asked for an explanation, but got none. This was the price! As I declined, the policy was cancelled, even though I was still attempting to negotiate a more reasonable quote. Within a week of that notice I received a letter from my bank informing me that as I no longer had insurance that my home equity loan which required insurance was invalidated and that US Bank would procure insurance independently if I did not provide them with a new declaration of insurance. This again at a much higher cost, well over $4500.00.
As I was getting nowhere with Farmers for a more economical policy, I started to call other companies to get some comparisons. I have been quoted from $2000.00 to $3,100 depending on my deductible, which I considered acceptable ($1000.00 deductible vs $500.00 deductible). When I told them (Statefarm) to go ahead with a policy the local agent told me that when their underwriters checked my status the policy could not be executed as Farmers reported that I had three claims on my record in the last two years, and NO company could insure me because of that, unless I was willing to pay an exorbitant amount to a special type of company.
I explained to the Statefarm agent that the three claims that Farmers was reporting on was in fact ONE claim, although elongated out to almost two years before it was settled. He, (Jake), told me that until Farmers straightened out their error that Statefarm could not provide insurance. I immediately called Farmers, both the agent (copy of Terry **’s letter attached) and the home office, and in the end after many, many phone calls I was/am left at a dead end with no household insurance as Farmers has declined to adjust the claim into the ONE that it actually was. I write this letter that is where this matter stands, with no household insurance.
In addition, to make matters even worse I submitted an application for a new equity loan so as to decrease my interest rate. The application was accepted and I was quoted a new rate of 4% VS the 5% I am now paying. I went ahead with this application in February of 2019 but I have not been able to finalize it as one of the requisite needs of my bank is that I produce a copy of my insurance Declaration for my home. This I cannot provide as I have no insurance, and am not able to obtain any until Farmers rectify their mistake. This has cost me over $500.00 per month in excess interest costs since the end of February, or over $1500.00, and will continue to do so until the matter is resolved.
I have put this issue in dispute with both Lexis-Nexus and “A Plus” companies, but both companies tell me they can do nothing until Farmers changes their records. I hope that your inquiry will prove fruitful and that Farmers Insurance Co. and their agent can rectify their error that is costing me thousands, let alone if my home was hit by an event or a liability claim.

My home flooded due to a backup in the common line. The HOA's insurance is Farmers. Since it was due to a common line issue, we had to go through HOA insurance. First off, they lowballed the amount - which is expected. They didn't account for higher prices given the local economy. They brought their own contractor, which seems shady. Then, they tried to force my HOA into using their contractor, which only has a 1-star review. It all seems highly illegal (I'm not a lawyer, but they are pushing the envelope with ethics). On top of all of it, the adjuster himself speaks down to me, strong arms my HOA contractor, speaks to me with no respect and is unwilling to negotiate, because he wants his contractor to do the work and he refuses to pay for another contractor. Avoid Farmers. Go with Homesite instead (my personal insurance).

After 29 years of paying Farmers Insurance we had to make a claim on our home. We had a hail storm in South Dakota which left the siding of our house cosmetically damaged and exposed to the elements. It has taken Farmers 6 months to call out an engineer and deny the claim because the siding is now weathered. The claim was denied because the siding is weathered after the hail beat the finish off. The adjuster said since the siding is weathered and would not pay the claim because weather caused the damage and “That’s just the way the siding wears”. Hmm let’s see "weather” aka “hailstorm". Blasts a finish off a substrate leaving it exposed to “the weather”, but weather didn’t cause this? Last time I checked hail is weather!
The wrapped J trim around all the brick molding was also beat to crap. This is installed before the siding forming a J channel. Farmers will pay for a hack and caulk job which gives about a year before moisture rots the siding. Since Farmers is denying the claim it forces us to get a loan to pay for the hail damage, a weather event. Very funny Farmers! Don’t believe the commercials! They won’t cover it!

Plus, I love the ease of obtaining the policy and all interactions with them! The customer service is over the top great! They are a great company who offers great services.

Farmers is a major player in the insurance field and we have had a long term relationship with them. We like their multiple policy discount and that their insurance agent is local to our address and easy to reach when needed. In addition, we can adjust our auto policy if on vacation by a simple phone call. However, the overall pricing for the policies tends to increase too quickly with inflation and the quickness that they increase rates following a claim is sometimes disturbing.

My daughter and a few friends also had Farmers at the time so I figured we all couldn't be wrong in choosing our insurance company. First off... If you had a relative in any business it is only natural to try to help them by sending business their way. My son is the agent of my homeowner policy through Farmers Insurance. He has been an agent for 20 years and lives close by. He also has my auto and an umbrella to cover other details. He is available 24/7 and actually volunteered to drive over a weekend and help an elderly insured couple move from their home in the northern part of our state here in California. Just an example of Chad's commitment to his insured. Also, Farmers is a well known and very responsive insurance company and is competitive with all the big names.
But I am displeased that Farmers has slowly but surely taken away options from its agents that enable them to make more money. The upper management ranks have taken away some of the rights in order to keep more money for themselves. The older agents have been put under pressure to grow their insured at a rate that is highly difficult so they can't make goal assigned by the fat cats at home office.

Farmers Homeowners Insurance had the lowest rate at the time and I mostly choose the lowest rate because we end up not needing their help. It was a company I was familiar with and had the best rate per year for the coverage we get. Insurance companies are a ripoff really. I don't like any company better than the other. They are all out for themselves only. If you don't have a claim for 1 year, you should get a monetary return. Paying year after year with no claims is a lose lose for me and a win win for the insurance company. They are in it to make as much money as they can and help you as little as they can.

I have heard good things about them and nothing negative unlike most other big name insurance companies. I have heard horror story after horror story from homeowners that used a different company. I chose Farmers due to having a local agent that I can have face to face contact. This insurance company gives you many options to bundle different policies. I like the convenience of billing monthly by automatically deducting from my checking account. I also like that I can include everything that needs insured in my homeowner's policy. However, I feel that the deductible is too high but the lower your deductible the higher your premiums. Also, there's an increase in billing every year even though we do not file any claims. Also reasonable pricing with friendly agents that are knowledgeable in their product. They will not sell you insurance that you do not want or need. But Farmers should make the policy readable by the general public. It's hard to know what is required and what will be covered if you ever need to file a claim. Farmers is a reliable company, known for paying off when a problem with the home occurs, fire, tornado, etc. We spoke to friends we knew used the company and everyone was well pleased with it. I was new in town and my friend worked for the agent. She gave me a quote and it was very reasonable. I liked the agent and the agent associates. They were very helpful and accommodating. So I went with Farmers for my home and auto insurance. I had insurance with Farmers Insurance for a few years and was always pleased with the rates and the service. Although I never had to file any claims they were always very professional when I dealt with them. But without warning and not having any claims my insurance went up over $100. So I chose to shop around and found another company with comparable coverage at a cheaper rate.

But with Farmers, I can always contact an agent with any questions I have regarding my policy especially if I'm traveling and I need an agent at my location. I can find an agency or use the mobile app at my convenience. I have a home out of state that can be a real headache for me if I need to travel to see the damage. My agent sets all that up for me. However, the price is a little higher than other insurance companies even without a claim and I can find cheaper. But I'm worried about when I in out of state. Will a cheaper insurance do the same job as Farmers helping if I need a rental car out of state or a claim? That's the best about Farmers. I chose Farmers due to an established agent that we have known for years and trusted. It is important to have a person in the town I live in to talk to in the event of needed to file a claim. I feel the cost for the policy is high considering there has never been a reason for a claim over the years. I feel insurance is a racket for the amount of money that is collected. But other than that, I like that most of the items in the house are replaceable but not all are like the keepsakes and photos. The replacement or the house and the contents are important to me.

Farmers was the only company I could find and afford to offer me replacement coverage. With Actual Cash Value I could face a bill of over $10,000 and I cannot afford that. I was able to get replacement coverage for my roof rather than actual cash value coverage. I live in an area where hailstorms are very prevalent and I am on Social Security so I need to know my roof will be fixed for an amount I can afford. While the premium is affordable it was still very high. Insurance is too expensive especially on Social Security income but is a necessity for a homeowner.

Farmers was the only real insurance company that would insure our home. We were located in Corpus Christi Texas. The only other insurance companies that would cover us were the small independent agents that you cannot count on during a hurricane or other similar insurance problem. Our agent and his staff were very friendly and helpful during the entire time we had a Farmers policy. Farmers was fine, but charged more because they knew homeowners had no other choice. We never had a claim but paid more anyway just in case. Supply and demand in our area allowed Farmers to charge more because of the lack of insurers, but they did not price gouge like USAA does when they get a similar situation. For that we were thankful to have Farmers insurance.

On March 20th, 2018 my home was damaged my that terrible storm that came through consisting of high winds, heavy rain and hail. My current insurance carrier is FARMERS! A few months later we noticed a small leak in two of the bed rooms. At that time I submitted a claim. An adjuster came out to assess the damages. The adjuster himself never got up on the main roof. The contractor they use got up on the roof.
It was later determined by them both that there was no high wind or hail damages. They WOULD NOT give me copies of the images taken even after I ask for copies. I immediately had a roofing company to go behind Farmer's insurance. They took photos of my roof indicating that my roof did suffer some hail and high wind damage but not to exceed missing shingles. The high winds did get underneath certain parts of the roof.
FARMERS offered to pay for the interior that was damaged from the storm which only included painting. The repairs came to under $1000.00. They refuse to acknowledge and repair the cause of the leak. This doesn't make sense to me. I did not have those leaks in my bedroom during the purchase of my home. An inspection was done as well when I first purchased my home. The adjuster himself David ** was making smart comments to his roofer guy such as "I don't see how this roof even passed the inspection"! The roof is about 10 years old. My deductible is $2500.00 therefore the amount they are wiling to cover doesn't exceed my deductible which leaves to nothing to pay out.
I had two more roofing companies to come behind Farmers. They too said that I had hail damage. One of the companies ask what insurance company I had. I told them Farmers. They immediately replied that his company don't even use them because they are quite difficult when it comes to things like this. Well, anyway I received the results of my findings. I had my roofer guy to speak to them directly. He ask David ** the adjuster what was my right as a consumer to have another adjuster to come out? David ** was uttering as if he had a hard time hearing what was said and being asked. I waited for 3 weeks and never heard anything else about my claim. I then made an appointment to visit the local office. I found out at that time my claim had been closed.
I had someone in the local office to call on my behalf. FARMERS claims department appears to have never got the images that was uploaded to them. I showed the local office the comparison of the images taken by Farmers and what my roofer guys found. It was clear that I have hail damage as opposed to what specified areas Farmers decided to take photos of pertaining to my roof. I got that claimed open back up. FARMERS sent another adjuster out. The roofer guy for Farmers has indicated no hail damage. The adjuster needed one more opinion so he sent another roofer guy that works for FARMERS to assess my roof for damages caused by the storm back on March 20th. I received an email yesterday from the adjuster. FARMERS have concluded that I have no wind or hail damages as a result of the March 20th storm. Unlike to mention, I put down new hardwood floors a short time after I purchased my home.
As a result of that March 20th storm, I now have a leak coming from the roof in the front of my house that has caused damaged to my new floor. I been in my home for approximately 3 years. The new floor is just under 3 years old. I had no issues before that storm came through. FARMERS are not going to cover any of my damages. They also have concluded that the leaks are from bad a construction when the house was first built. If that was the case the leaks would have been determined before I purchased the home. I would think the evidence of the 2 bedroom leaks and the living room leak would not have been a surprised 3 years later.
My issues are a result of the March 20th storm. It is unfortunate that a company such FARMERS won't do what is right although I pay my premium. I'm looking elsewhere for insurance. How about 2 claims came up for one claim for the March 20th storm. My rate is higher because of what is showing up in the database. I called David ** supervisor Michael ** and explain to him what was coming up when I get quotes. He is telling me it is all one claim and that one claim is all he see. Other insurance company is telling me one of the claims is lightning and the other one is rain. There's nothing showing hail or high winds in the database for the one claim I've submitted.
In my honest opinion FARMERS sent their 3 roofers out to cover themselves in case this turns into a legal matter. I will contact the insurance commissioner on behave of their negligence. I hope my story goes viral because this doesn't make sense. Consumers need to know who these bad companies are when it comes to standing behind you when a catastrophic occurs especially if you are considered a valuable customer???

I closed on a two-flat apartment building (to be my new primary residence) in Chicago, IL on March 30th, 2018 while I was away in Georgia on military duty. My military orders ended on April 28th. On April 29th I traveled to take possession of the property and found that someone had broken all the windows to the first-floor apartment. That same day I had the doors and windows boarded up. The next day, April 30th, I returned to the building with a contractor to discover someone had broken in and stolen the copper pipes and caused damage to walls, cabinets, and doors.
After sevens weeks of investigating I was informed that my loss is not covered by my policy due to section 1 A 21. a. (1) of the policy, which states, "Vandalism or Malicious Mischief or Arson if the Dwelling is Vacant. We do not insure loss or damage which directly or indirectly is caused by, arises out of or results from: a. vandalism or malicious mischief if: (1) the dwelling has been vacant for a period of 30 days prior to the vandalism or malicious mischief;"
My claims rep (TIMOTHY **) consistently insured me that this provision wasn't there as a gotcha rule, but it is there to protect Farmers from fraudulent insurance claims. To me, it seems to be a gotcha. It was determined the property was vacant for 31 days, the 31st day being the day I noticed the theft and damage. I'm not even sure that if the policy has been rightly applied. The policy states that "Vandalism or malicious mischief does not include theft of property." Well, my pipes were stolen, are they not covered? Would that not also include the labor charge to replace them? So is Farmers telling deployed military members that if they are deployed for more then 30 days their properties aren't covered against vandalism or malicious mischief?

I told the supervisor Michelle I am on disability and whatever I am getting is for my house mortgage and payment of 2 cars. I don’t have money. If you explained to me how much my deductible if I can’t afford it I won’t let you touch it. Is there any way I can file a complaint because I don’t know how to pay that amount of money. Beware of Farmers Insurance! They will do anything to earn a dollar and not pay a claim: Tell lies, ignore coverage, misrepresent facts, dodge inquires, fail to conduct with integrity a full investigation, and fail to provide clear reason for denial supported by applicable policy provisions. I filed my first property claim, 5 years paying, under my homeowner’s policy: Section 1, Coverage C Personal Property, “we insure accidental direct physical loss or damage.” Loss or damage means theft or distinct and demonstrable actual physical injury to or destruction of the property." My hand was struck and caught in a pool vent that altered my ring, loosen the diamond and it caused it to fall out. My claim was to reshape band and replace the 2 carat diamond.
Farmers denied the claim, without investigating, examining the ring or photos. In their first denial letter, (Alexandra **), failed to list the "Accidental Coverage Provision," or reason for denial. Instead, they simply copied from the policy, without explanation, inapplicable exclusions. After they stated that I reported “ring damaged when reaching into a vent,” they immediately proceeded to dishonestly claim that “lost was unknown" and "losing or misplacing items is not a covered loss.”
After questioning their failure to address the “accidental coverage" and misrepresentation of the facts, they finally sent a 2nd denial letter, that included the policy "accidental coverage provision." However, this was done without explanation or reason as to why said coverage did not apply or why they chose to misrepresenting the facts. They pursued this dishonesty by bringing forth different representatives, Michael **, Shaun **, Brititini **, & Adam **, who made up different versions of the claim facts and lost, dodged questions, told outright lies, and refused to acknowledge “accidental coverage” provision.
After resorting to e-mails, to stop the dishonesty, I finally stated that Farmers were not operating in “good faith,” and would like to verify Farmers' administrators addresses, so I could file a complaint. They responded, "We have hired attorney, James **, and "all further communication must be directed to him."" Interesting, this attorney, sent a letter, identified my claim as a “theft claim, not accidental, and never explained why Farmer had hired him. I had already submitted my complaint to three of Farmers’ administrative officers, Jeff **, Keith ** and Tim **, all failed to respond. The attorney finally responded, “although correspondence was prior to him being retained, Farmers requested that I respond.” Of course he stated that Farmers denies "allegations of bad faith, etc."
I submitted this complaint to the Insurance Commissioner and Better Business Bureau. I am still awaiting a response from the Insurance Commissioner. Farmers responded to the BBB with even more outrageous lies, claiming, that "diamond was lost," "constant wearing of the ring had worn it out and it failed to hold the diamond," too contradictorily stating, I have "not, in fact suffered a loss of the diamond as she is aware of its location." This is sad!
Needless to say, I canceled all three of my policies: home, auto and golf cart, all had endured price increases every year, only to find out that I would not receive a refund on my golf cart. Farmer’s (Agent Kevin **), without asking or informing, had insured the golf cart under a “fully-earned” premium. The insurance co. had immediately earned full payment, regardless of when policy was canceled. No refund. Who does this?
STAY AWAY or RUN AWAY FROM FARMERS. We the public, need to let Farmers that we truly know a thing or two about dishonest insurance companies that go to any length, to rip off and con honest people, just to increase their profits. Then hide behind attorneys for egregious acts that they have committed. Shameful and the SWAP must be drained.

Two goals for my story. To potentially save you money, and in doing so, to cost Farmers the same or more than they are costing me by your saving money. So here goes: First - education. For jewelry, if you turn in an appraisal for $X.00, you will pay the premium for $X.00 for the entirety of your coverage unless you specify otherwise. If there is a loss or theft, Farmers does not necessarily PAY you the amount on the appraisal mapped to the premium amount you are paying. They will pay you “up to” the amount of the coverage. They pay you “market value”, even though you are paying the premium for the amount on your appraisal.
The example is: I submit an appraisal for the amount of $20k. I pay premiums accordingly. My ring is stolen. Farmers assesses that market value is $10k. I am paid $10k even though I’ve been paying a higher premium which maps to the $20k. On the flipside, if I give them a $10k appraisal, and pay the associated premium of $10k, but they value the ring at $20k at the time of loss, do you think they pay you $20k? Nope. They pay you the $10k. In my opinion, that’s Farmers having their cake and eating it too.
This is what I learned when the same scenario happened to me on my modification coverage for my Jeep. So here’s that scenario, and the second goal of my email, which is to have Farmers do the right thing, or fix the system, which I feel is misleading and “cake and eat it too” mentality. Oh, and cost them money by your saving money. 3 years ago, I added a highly modified Jeep to my policy. I asked how much Farmers covered for modifications, and they told me “up to $50k”. I agreed to coverage, and provided receipts for $55k in modifications. And I’ve been paying the additional premium for “up to $50k” in mods for the last 3 years. (Extra $640 annually).
Fast forward to a month ago. The Jeep was stolen and considered a total loss. The “depreciated amount” that they are willing to cover? $27k. Do things depreciate? Yes. Did they depreciate them year over year and factor the lower value in when assessing my policy each cycle? No. Did they continue to charge the premium of “up to $50k” in modifications year over year? Yes. In my humble consumer opinion, there should be a depreciation calculation factored in when Farmers chooses to cover modifications. I would then have the choice to agree to those and continue coverage, or move on.
So, in a nutshell, I pay for higher coverage than I am being paid on. JUST like jewelry. The Texas Department of insurance told me that there are no laws regulating this, that insurance companies are here to make money and there is no legal recourse here. “Why would they tell you your stuff is worth less, and charge you less if their bottom line would be impacted negatively?” I IMPLORE you to reassess your coverage on jewelry, and covered vehicle modification/accessories, to be sure you are not overpaying. And I can only assume that Farmers does not want this to happen due to the millions of dollars they would lose by consumers knowing this.
Farmers? Anything to say? Would LOVE to hear your public response. It took me hours and hours to find the information I posted, to include how much extra I was paying for modification coverage and to confirm that I was still paying the higher premium. Happy to answer any questions. #farmersinsurance #farmersinsurancecomplaints #farmersinsurancereview #farmersinsurancestories #farmersinsuranceunhappycustomer @farmersinsurance.

On 04/05/2018, sometime between 1 am and 5 am, we had a water-line break in our upstairs bathroom and judging by the amount of water, it ran for several hours. Floors upstairs, and walls, floors and everything in the rooms below was soaked! Well, that's what we have Homeowner's Insurance for, right? A policy that we've been paying into faithfully since 2003, NEVER missed a payment, and NEVER had a claim before.
So I called the insurance company, Farmer's Mutual, thinking it would be just a matter of a claims adjuster coming to our house to assess/verify the damage (I had taken pictures too before we started mopping up the worst of the mess). This should be a "formality", right? WRONG!!! The insurance agent on the phone started reading off to me what is covered... fire, explosion, smoke, lightning, blah, blah, blah, vandalism, airplane crash, sinkhole and... wait for it... VOLCANO eruption!!!
"VOLCANO??? In West Virginia? What are the chances of that?" So our policy covers things that are LESS likely to occur than winning the lottery jackpot 10 times in a row, but it DOESN'T cover something as likely to happen as a water line breaking??? So, if you have a Homeowner's policy with Farmer's Mutual, then READ YOUR POLICY'S FINE PRINT!!! Read it, and then read it again, and read the EXTRA-FINE fine print! Don't look for what it SAYS in there, but instead look for what it DOESN'T SAY!!! I'm still looking for the airplane crash and Volcano coverage in our policy... just in case we survive one of those and can file a claim for it to get our water damage taken care of.

No one works after 3:30 in the afternoon at Farmers: claims, supervisors, the agent that sold me my policy, which is really frustrating when you have no heat in your home and it's 25 degrees outside.
My claim was denied because of some really slick double and triple talk on my policy. It says that things are covered in one part then in another part 20 pages later it explains why I am not covered. I don't get how these scum bags are allowed to do business like this. Even more disgusting is when I look on their website it shows people doing disaster recovery after Hurricane Harvey, I'm sure that no one was covered for that. Seniors and low income people beware of Farmers Insurance in Waco, Texas. I would not recommend them. They are not only more expensive than Allstate for instance for both car and home insurance, they treat you terrible if you have any financial difficulty and they absolutely do not give a damn about you. I had both auto and homeowners insurance with them prior to 2018 for years.
Unfortunately I'm a poor single senior on a fixed income and they would not or could not reduce my auto or home insurance when I asked them to. So I thought I had cancelled my home insurance first. I told them I could not pay but it's probably my fault because I did not insist that they cancel it immediately. Then they turned me over to a collection agency without telling me or offering me a chance to pay $163 to pay off the home policy. Gee wouldn't that have been the right thing to do and the humane way to treat a long time customer for a lousy $163? Secondly they are more expensive and I found cheaper similar policies with Allstate. I highly recommend Allstate.

We have been with Farmers for approximately 15 years with zero claims. We have 3 vehicles and also flooding insurance with Farmers.
The claims we have submitted for our master bathroom and living room area due to flooding from a broken water pipe. Brian always seems to find reasons not to pay invoices we have sent to him. He has had several arguments with our vendors requesting for payment for their services. For example while our home was in demolition we advised Brian that we were going to not stay in our home due to extreme dust and construction due to removal of tile and replacing it. We submitted a invoice which now he is refusing to pay. Prior to this we had told Brian that we were going to stay somewhere else and he said, “Fine. Just get me an invoice”. When we submitted our invoice Brian stated, ”No way will I pay this invoice. You had other rooms to stay in during this time”.
I have severe health issues and told him that, at our first meeting, with a witness from Servpro who heard him agree to our staying elsewhere. We are not sure why Brian ** is doing this, maybe lack of experience. We are now facing our vendor coming after us for this balance due. And we have not been reimbursed for our rental agreement. We are on a limited budget and cannot afford this. We advised Brian that we would be submitting a complaint on Brian and Farmers Insurance and Brian stated "do what you have to do". My husband and I are disgusted with the treatment we have received from Farmers Insurance.

I had significant wind damage and at least 26 shingles required replacement but the shingles were too brittle. The next day the adjuster calls and tells me the roof should be repaired and Farmers would not provide any towards repairs and it should only cost $962 and since my deductible is $1,000 I'm stuck. I followed the next step which is for a second opinion, they too have said the roof is repairable even though all of the roofers have said it's not.
I have NEVER opened a claim - auto nor home and I have to say this is the WORST experience I've been part of in terms of service. Leak appeared to happen the day discovered, after 2 kids showing. Adapter failed, causing water to bypass drain and permeate floor and walls surrounding shower. Claim was denied, because adapter showed signs of aging.
Yes, these adapters age and begin to deteriorate the day they are installed. There was no way for me to examine the under portion of the adapter (piece that failed). Farmers denied claim based on an exclusion that the damage has to be from a sudden and accidental discharge. I pointed out that this is exactly what I had, but Farmer's denial claimed that the adapter showed signs of aging and therefore leak was not sudden.
Consumers need to be aware of not only the exclusions and exceptions but need to interpret, based on these exclusions, how the insurance company will respond to the types of claims potentially filed, and adjust their policy to provide the best insurance at the most effective pricing for the consumer - not the insurance company. Agents should make consumers aware of these exclusions, and state and federal laws should mandate this, preventing the smoke and mirror sales.

My elderly father (90) lost about half of his wooden fence. He has always paid his premium on time and we both trusted that Farmers would help at least some. He lives in a nice neighborhood, nice home, decent fence. The adjuster came out two days ago and told a long story about how strong the winds were when she was a little girl (about 40 years ago) and lived in a nearby town. She said that the recent storm (which garnered severe storm warnings for days ahead of time) was "nothing." She did, however, say that multiple homes had received damages (go figure).
After not calling by the end the day yesterday (when promised), she calls late today and without apologizing, leaves a two minute message stating that she was not convinced that it was "wind that damaged the fence." There was no empathy or advocacy. Just those words and that Farmers would not be able to help. Every insurance company out there has its advocates and its detractors. That said, there are some common objective standards that should and could be applied in judging insurance companies, after one strips out the outlier issues that cause individuals to either complain or scream approval! These standards include: customer service (#1), empathy (#2), advocacy (i.e. advocate for you in the event of an incident, for e.g. a car accident, #3), follow-through (#4) and resolution (#5).
In 30 years, I've had 4 insurance companies: 20th Century (now 21st Century), State Farm, Progressive and now Farmers. On all the standards above, Farmers is head and shoulders above the rest. Their customer service is superlative. This includes the front-line of contact and the processors. Most of the time, you don't think about your insurance company. It becomes hugely important when you have an accident.
In my case, I am writing after less than a week from a horrific car accident in which I was struck in an intersection by a car at some speed. My high-end car will now be a total loss. From the first report on the accident, Farmers reps have been extraordinarily attentive, very empathetic, have followed-up diligently, and have identified pathways to resolution from the beginning. Because of the insurance I carry, they have assured me at every turn that they are covering all the costs of the rental, the towing, the possible repair (which in this case will now be a write-off) and the ultimate current value of the car. At this point, I am still not sure what that value will come in at, but of one thing I am sure: it will be fair, reasonable and consistent with data. Most important, their follow-through sets a standard, in my experience, of excellence, efficiency and communication with me, the consumer.
My advice to all who interact with insurance companies: be responsive and responsible yourselves first. Make sure you can gather and provide data wherever possible. None of the companies has overarching policies that they transmit internally to ensure that they use to diminish their responsibility or that they stiff you (despite this being the dominant impression among consumers). Each case is in fact a judgement, based on data and facts, and consistent with their actuarial and other data.
Second, don't treat them as adversaries. They are in business to minimize loss and maximize profit. There is nothing inherently evil or wrong in this mission. If you start out with an attitude of entitlement, without recognizing their need to establish facts, and the burden of liability, and the specifics of your policy (which you should read thoroughly), then it won't end well. Bottom line for me: Farmers is by far the best insurance company I have had. I have them for home and car (2-car family, so both cars are insured).

I had a terrible experience with Farmers. I purchased a homeowners policy and, a month after paying the annual premium in full, Farmers sent a vaguely worded letter stating that my premium would be increasing in the middle of the coverage period because they made a mistake when they initially calculated it. At that point, I decided to cancel my policy because I didn't want to do business with an insurance company that would do such a thing in the middle of the contract period. It seemed like a classic "bait and switch" in my mind.
For the next two months, I battled Farmers and its inept customer service representatives trying to get a refund of the premium that I had already paid. Every step of the way, Farmers was a nightmare to deal with. Their customer service "systems" are extremely outdated and disorganized, and their customer service representatives are incompetent and unpleasant. After a lot of stress and wasted time, I finally got my refund. If it was that difficult getting my money back after they made a mistake, I can imagine how frustrating it would be getting Farmers to pay a claim when I needed them. There are better options out there. Avoid this company. They don't care about you.

A wind storm damaged the roofs in my area. My neighbors are getting full replacements. I was told I had $485 worth of damage. That was ridiculous, so I started to investigate. All the Roofing Contractors I contacted said the same thing, Farmers notoriously denies legitimate claims. They send a "no name" Engineer to write a report that they use to deny the claim. They know nothing about damaged roof shingles. They write down how many shingles are broken, nothing about the ones that are lifted and no longer sealed and all the shingles that no longer have the rock surface. I am so disappointed that I didn't investigate their claims history before paying premiums for 20 yrs. I am working on a class action suite now. I will keep warning others until this is resolved the way it should have been. Farmers, is it true your Assessors are awarded bonus money for denying claims?
