My rates increases although I have no points on my license, driving record is clean, and then when I inquire about the increase, I am told they will get back to me, and guess what? I never hear feedback. My most recent claim was a theft and complete and total loss of my vehicle, I put the claim in 08/2016 and it has yet to be resolved, they have interviewed me three times even under oath in front of their attorney asking the same questions, they have interviewed my spouse, I have provided them several documents, and they keep asking for more and more and something different every other week.

If it wasn't for the fact I have a supportive spouse and family and they were able to get me another vehicle, I would be out of a vehicle. The way Esurance has handled my claim has been absolutely horrendous! They have wasted my time, money, and caused me undue anxiety pain and stress to the point I am now seeing a therapist. All because they don't want to pay!!! But they can surely take my money every month!! As soon as this claim is completed, Esurance will not get another dime of my money nor my business, and I will be urging everyone I can to STAY AWAY if they know what's best for them.

Worst service ever! First of all, my rate kept hiking up every term without me getting into an accident or anything. My car is an 2004 Pontiac Vibe. A couple of weeks ago, I got into an accident where I hit a patch of ice and jacked up my back left wheel and axle. Their first mistake was towing my car to a place 45 MIN AWAY FROM MY HOUSE when I had a tow yard just 10 minutes away from my house. I was shocked to find out that it was totaled. It really wasn't but they claim that it was a $4000 job which I highly doubt.

Second mistake came when giving the value of my car. My car was undervalue by at least $1000 according to their estimate. They don't use KBB which values my car at a higher rate. I even called the dealership where I got the car and they said that Esurance was stiffing me. I did NOT appreciate my claims handler talking over me every time I had a question. So disrespectful! The nail in the coffin came today when I realized that I won't be getting any money to buy a new car and all the money goes to my dealership. At this point, I feel like I would have been better off not having insurance if this was going to be the end result. This company doesn't care about their customers. I'm taking my business elsewhere!

My wife and daughter were hit from behind in a car we had for about two months. Esurance came in and ran roughshod over us trying to form us to settle the claim. They wanted to total out our vehicle. With their crappy GAP insurance included, we were still going to lose about $4000 paying for a car we could no longer own if they did that. We want our car fixed. They even forced the person's insurance, AAA, not to deal with us. They have tried every underhanded threat in the book, including trying to force us to sign over power of attorney, have tried to pick up our vehicle and take it to a salvage yard (we have it at a body shop and are not being charged storage fees) without our permission. Now they are threatening to close the claim because we won't allow them to just total out our vehicle. Please, please stay away from them.

I purchased my 6 month policy for 255.00 on 12/2/15. My first payment was 85.95. The person who sold me the policy said I would have a payment reserve in case I couldn't pay a bill which was the main reason I went with Esurance. I paid my payments of 47.45 with no problem until 04/2015 I figured the payment reserve I was promised would cover it but I kept getting billed so I called customer service and was told that Esurance don't have a payment reserve so they canceled my policy for nonpayment on 4/25/16.

I switched to Esurance because their rates at the time were a bit cheaper. After 1 claim less than 7000 dollars I was sent an email saying they wouldn't be renewing my policy. On top of that they sent their own person out to assess the damage for that "one" claim and then they ended up going against their own person in order to pay out less on the claim. My claim adjuster called me on her cellphone after hours... yelling at her boyfriend in between getting my info. Esurance is absolutely the worst company ever. I've been a homeowner for over a decade and have never seen anything worse.

In Aug 2016 I began car shopping. In an effort to streamline emails, I created a Gmail account specifically for this purpose. It turns out that I bought a car much faster than I expected and only used the email address ONCE... when I tried to get a quote from Esurance, I was able to get a quote online, but when I called from the dealership to secure coverage I was told I couldn't be insured due to a "no fault" accident on my record. Ok, fine. I moved on.

However about two months later the scam phone calls started, a few here and there at first, and increasing to as many as 5-6 per day. All random local numbers so I feel I have to answer. Mostly people trying to extend a car warranty for a Honda that I never owned, and then some from actual car dealerships saying they got my info from a marketing list saying I was searching for a new Honda. When I would actually speak to someone, the email address they had on file was the one I only used for my Esurance quote. Looks like I should've used a fake phone number, too. If my phone number didn't have meaning to me (weird, I know) I'd change it.

It is nearly impossible to speak to a human when reporting an accident, service does not include a tow truck during an accident claim. It is believed the company did not investigate thoroughly to determine who was at fault. The customer service is very poor. The cost of the policy is a major factor, you get exactly what you pay for with this company.

Never made it to being an Esurance customer since I was never able to get an accurate quote! On 12/23/16, I received an online quote for auto insurance on three vehicles and received a quote of $549 / 6 months. While trying to purchase this policy, the session timed-out and I had to log back in to retrieve the quote only NOW, the quoted premium was $591 / 6 months. Thinking that there was an error in the quote, I reentered all of my information for a new quote -- surprisingly (or not) the premium was now $612 / 6 months and I gave up for the day.

On 12/24/16, I tried again... Retrieved my previous quote for $591 and tried to purchase but, after having to reenter my information that was supposed to be "saved", the premium was now $622, $641, $643 and $653 for the EXACT SAME COVERAGE LIMITS that were quoted at $549 just the day before! I called and complained to customer service and tried to get them to make sense of the ever-changing (although ALWAYS changing to be a few dollars more, never less), the explanation I got was something to the effect of, "Quoted premiums are subject to change, Policy premiums are set and do not change." My answer to that was, "I understand that quoted premiums might change or fluctuate a couple of dollars of the course of a few days or weeks or months but increasing almost $100 within 12 hours is ridiculous!" The representative basically advised me that there was nothing they could do about the premium -- take it or leave it.

After reading all of these other reviews about non-existent customer service and claims processing, I'm glad that I didn't make the same mistake! If an insurance company can't even offer a reliable QUOTE process, what hope would there be for having the company's support in the event of an accident (which IS what we pay for, RIGHT??).

I feel swindled by this company for a second time, 12 years apart. The first time was so flagrant and undefendable that I thought after 12 years that a national company would have corrected their policy. The first time they quite simply gave me a cost and shortly thereafter arbitrarily raised it. After I initially agreed and sent them the money that they asked for to get the policy started, they contacted me by email raising the price. When I complained, also by email in case it matters, they did not respond. I found out at this point that to cancel the policy would cost me $50, and I would also pay for the brief period during which they insured my car. Instead I decided to stay the 6 months rather that just plain lose $50.

The second time just lately, it was essentially the same experience except that they went to the extra step of telling me why they were raising the initial rate, which was based on the amount of mileage that I estimated that I'd be driving in the upcoming year. They asked for proof and suggested past service repair receipts. When I supplied them with these documents that verified the same mileage that I had stated on the application, they ignored this evidence and upon receiving it they again insisted that my premium would be the higher amount. I told them "no", that I would not pay it and told them to cancel the policy, which now for two weeks had been active, and that if they did not refund the full amount of the deposit, I would let others know that they are a dishonest and deceptive company thru reviews like this one.

So that is it. I am out $75 even though we never even agreed on a price. But they had my good faith deposit, so there was nothing that I could do. My car has 65,000 miles on it after 15 years of use, all put on by me except for the first year. I am still trying to get insured at a lower rate than the typical car owner who puts on 15,000 miles a year. On top of that, as of 6 months ago I have been living in a rural area. We drive our car today only once every week or two. The proof I sent them was two service repair receipts that showed that during the most recent 4 month period between these repairs I drove about 2000 miles, or 500 miles a month, extrapolated to 6000 miles a year.

It is simply impossible to purchase more insurance and pay less. Upon inquiries, I was told, "Well all insurance prices fluctuate". Really??? Same policy w/ 21st for 16 years. I had 3 price changes. 1. When I changed vehicles. 2. When I added a 2nd vehicle. 3. When I became a safe driver my cost went down. You can read the writing on the wall. I had Esurance for approximately three months when what I would consider to be a fraudulent claim was submitted to my adjuster. I provided detailed accounts and documentary evidence that rebuffed the claims of the claimant. Despite my opposition, Esurance ignored all my protests and sided with the other side. They hid behind a claim that they were "doing it to protect me". When I talked to an underwriter, however, I was informed my rates would go up.

This seems to me like a blatant attempt to harm their consumer base. I feel like my story had been entirely ignored and my documentary evidence was not listened to. I fully intend to seek legal action in the near future based on my experience. I wholeheartedly do not recommend using their services. Their rates ended up being double what another competitor's were.

Just so you know, the quote I got for car insurance from this company (pleasure only) turns out to be almost THREE times as much as I was paying in Canada, and that was for driving my car to work. I am an accident free, 60 year old driver, with 30 years of a clean driving record. This company insists on charging me, because I am new to US, as if I was a teenager of 16. And they actually penalize people for choosing to live for periods without a car!! In other words, your premiums go up if you have had a period without car insurance. In a world in which we are encouraged to use public transit, walk and bike to get cars off the road? There has to be a better system.

I was also offended by the types of questions they asked me about my personal life (married, domestic partner, widowed etc). This might be standard for insurance companies down here in the U.S. as they assess your risk factors, but think about it. Did they asked if I drank alcohol or smoked pot? No. Did they ask me what race I am? No. Answers to these questions must also provide relevant actuarial data, but they would be considered an invasion of privacy. So why, then, cannot my marital status be none of their business?

We have had no accidents, tickets or claims in the last 2 years, nor have we changed our policy. We have the same cars we had when we started with them 2 years ago. The first 6 months we apparently had an "online shopper" discount for $8. The rest of the increases took place every month for $1 or $2 a month.

The rep that cancelled our policy estimated that this time next year, we would be at approximately $115 a month based on the regular increases we have had. Over $40 more in 3 years with no changes to our policy or driving record?!?! I called a few times in the last 6 months to ask why the regular increases were taking place, and I was told that "other people in our area were filing a lot of claims". I would NOT recommend you buy insurance unless you want regular increases to reward your perfect driving record!

I found a cheaper rate from another company a few days before my policy was to renew, so I called esurance to tell them I would not be renewing my policy. Since I had recurring billing, that was one month ahead, the first payment had already come out, so the customer service lady told me I had a refund of $224 coming back. That was nice to hear. She said they would be crediting it back to my last known payment method which was a debit card and bank account I had recently closed, and replaced. I told the woman this, and she said ok, she would note it in the system, and request that I get a paper check. I said fine.

Well, they then sent me an email on August 20 saying that my refund was processed, and had been electronically sent to my debit card... the same one I had told the woman was closed. I called my bank, the transaction never reached them at all... they said even if they had sent it to my old card, they could see it, and put it in my active checking account.

So I called esurance again, and told them the deal, and that I never received my refund. They said that it showed my refund was sent, and accepted by my bank, and there was nothing more they could do. So, long story short, it is now Sept. 10. This has been going on for almost a month now. I've been making calls and doing everything I can to find my money. My bank has been very cooperative and helpful, they did a full investigation, and still say the refund is no place to be found on their end. I even asked esurance for a tracking number, and they gave me some 23 digit number that neither me, nor my bank found helpful. My bank said if I could get them to give me the full debit card number they sent the money to, they could make sure it got sent to the right card.

Also, in case that didn't work, they told me to ask esurance to give me the tracking number that goes along with every electronic transaction. Basically, when I asked for this info from esurance, I was told the long, useless number they gave me to "track the money" was all they had, and they couldn't give me my full debit card number to verify it's correct, because they cannot see the whole number, just the last 4 digits?! Then how the hell have they been charging my debit card in the past?! They pretty much said there is nothing they can do for me. My theory?: Esurance screwed up and sent my money to someone else's debit card, and doesn't want to do the necessary digging for me to get it figured out. I'm sure that someone probably got an unexpected credit of $200 to their debit card... I bet they're happy. Thanks for all your help esurance!

I switched to Esurance probably 7 years ago after my son had been rear-ended by an Esurance customer. At that time the company was superlative in every way and so I canceled my policy at the time and went with Esurance. In 2015 upon moving to another state, I continued with Esurance auto and added Homeowners. Sometime between 2007 and 2015... Esurance became an Allstate company and the result is disastrous.

I have spent HOURS in 2016 trying to clear up errors on their part that caused jumps in my rates of $500... twice. Once on the auto which was squared away and shown to be THEIR fault... not mine. And now all of a sudden the renewal on my homeowners also jumped $500 and once again I have spent hours and hours trying to clear this up. Their procedure is to just say whatever... and then do as they please.

Currently on Aug 24 I received a renewal for my Homeowners slated to roll over six weeks later on Oct 5. The policy cost had gone up $500. I immediately called Esurance and told them I was not renewing at this price. I went over every line of the policy with the Licensed Representative. She could find no reason for the increase and sent the policy back to Underwriting telling me I WOULD hear from them within 48 hours. A week later and one month before the renewal was to go into effect, Esurance drafted my bank account for the first payment on the new policy which I had NOT renewed, did not accept or agree to, did not authorized and I had notified them more than 10 days prior.

I took issue with this procedure but could have been talking to a wall. They refused to reverse the charge claiming it was a cancellation and as such could not be REFUNDED until the rollover date. If I had decline to renew the policy and not authorized any payment then how could this be a REFUND. I did not pay it or authorize it. They just took it.

Only after numerous emails, calls and a complaint directly to the State Insurance Dept... suddenly they reversed their claims!! I did not have to wait 6 weeks to get my REFUND. Suddenly they put it through right away and despite their warnings it might be my BANK'S FAULT if it did not show up for 2 weeks... strangely my REFUND shows in my bank account today. They not only stole my money... Esurance stole my time. I went right out and got another policy locally for $1400 LESS a year than Esurance. Allstate is a horrible company and now they have made Esurance over in their model. STAY AWAY. You can do much better.

I put in my drivers license number and social at the end of the quote for them to verify my driving record. I had one ticket and accident (not at fault). Both my ticket and accident were from 3 years ago. They asked me to pay my first month and additional month initially. I had no problem with that since I assumed I would eventually see that extra month.

4 or 5 days go by and I receive an email from Esurance saying that my premium is going to increased immediately. My premium went up significantly. My monthly payments went from $134 to $290. When I emailed them to see what happened, I was told that they found that the accident I indicated was my fault. I told them I was not at fault and that my current insurance company even has the records to prove it. Once I sent over all the information to prove I was not at fault, they told me it didn't matter. I don't understand how you can give me a quote and use my personal information (Social and license #) and the quote not be correct. I also do not understand how a higher deductible that my current insurance company would not drop the price but make it more expensive.

Needless to say, I didn't cancel my other insurance company since I hadn't received my insurance card with esurance yet. I decided to cancel esurance and stay with State Farm. Esurance ended up taking $50 for being with them for 4 days. I had to keep asking for my refund. Finally after a week of constant emails and phone calls, they tell me they have submitted a refund to my bank. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They also told me that the extra month of insurance you pay initially is considered equity and you never see this money again unless you cancel, and it loses its equity.

I am very disappointed with Esurance and they are consistent with Geico in that they will initially offer a low premium for the first 6 months and upon renewal, increase their rate exponentially. Esurance increased my premium by over 20% claiming that the State has authorized a premium rate increase, but failed to list statistics justifying the underlying cause. They simply claim that due to higher payouts for accident coverage in the state as a whole led to a rate increase. This is exactly the same justification that Geico used to increase my rate by 25% which led to me switching to Esurance in the first place. (No claims nor accidents).

When I initially called Esurance six months ago and spoke to the representative, I expressed my concern with the tactics used by Geico to increase premiums every six months, and especially the 25% increase during the last renewal. I was assured by the Esurance policy preparer that would not happen and that my premium would remain the same at the next renewal if no accidents or claims were made against the policy. Clearly, this was a blatant untruth to secure the policy.

Today I spoke to Rebecca, who would not provide her last name or way to contact her, who claimed to be a licensed insurance agent for Esurance. When asked why my rates increased, she immediately read a prepared response saying that the state in which I reside authorized a rate increase. When pressed for statistics, she continued to read the same prepared response claiming accident payouts increased in my state, thus granting their company to seek premium adjustments. I asked her how this increase could equal to 20% and her response, and yes, this is her actual statement made very sarcastically, "Groceries increase each week and so do other expenses." I asked her to qualify her statement if she actually believed grocery prices increase 20% every six months, for a total of 40% each year... She reverted back to reading the prepared statement.

Consumer beware. They are very much akin to Geico and provide a teaser rate and at the six month renewal period, increase your rates exponentially. No claims or accidents, and simply blame it on the state. Lastly, I understand that a state can authorize a rate adjustment, but a 20% adjustment by this company and 25% by Geico is inexplicable.

Woke up to an email that my 6 month premium would be double (900 something) the initial quote and the new premium will be factored into my future payments. I immediately requested cancellation and am working with the bank to do a chargeback on my credit card and to block them from future charges.

I purchased homeowners insurance from them. The premium was high as I had not had homeowners in a while. The house is in perfect condition with new wiring/roof/windows and many upgrades. Upon acceptance of my offer they decided to send out an inspector who wanted to move the home from 2 story to 1.5 and add sq. That was okay not a big deal. He also said the house was under repair because the backside of a room was still being sided. No big deal and an easy fix however Esurance in their infinite wisdom decided at that time to put the value to rebuild my home to approx 570k then they increased the premium from less than 2k to 7K for the year. Needless to say I called and in talking with their rep we decided to put in a request for a new quote with all new information provided by THEIR inspector.

After placing the info we got a quote for half of the 7k they were asking. This whole process is now suspect in my opinion the entire process is set up to defraud people out of their money. If I were a younger man and needed or had to have their insurance this would be amazingly hard for me to pay. I think that is the bait and switch. Let's say lure them in with hopes of a decent price for insurance. Then once you hook them notify them via email that their payment will be close to quadruple the estimate. After many phone calls I finally gave up and just asked to cancel. At that time they confirmed my cancellation but continued to charge my CC. Overall I think this company sucks to the point that they are not worth being in business and should just close the doors. Every aspect of dealing with them is a fraud.

I had auto policy of 2 cars and renter's insurance with Esurance for a few years, then I added homeowners once we purchased a house. I was supposed to get a multi policy discount, but once applied my bill was still the same for my auto. Nobody was able to explain why my bill didn't go down with the "discount". 2 months after settling on the house we had to put in a claim because we noticed some water damage to the ceiling. They canceled our policy immediately because we put in a claim within 2 months of moving in. I have no idea how this is a legal thing to do, but they canceled us.

But it was a blessing in disguise because I got a better rate for more coverage with someone else now, for both auto and homeowners, and they still have to pay for our claim. I also did a DIY inspection by providing them with the appraisal we got from our mortgage company and they did not want to accept it. They wanted us to pay for an appraisal, which we refused to. After a few hours on the phone and back and forth they claimed that they are going to accept it but the policy is being canceled anyway because of our claim so it doesn't make a difference whether they accept it or not. I guess that's why they're mad and canceled our policy without explanation other than the 2 month period.

Now as a single mom I have to come up with my deductible and the two insurance companies have to battle it out. However I have seen multiple posts that they don't even pay their own insured policy holders claims either. They are a joke of an insurance company and should be sued and put out of business. I filled Esurance form online, then called their customer service person (I also did the same with a competitor). I asked him: "Is that 9 day gap would raise my premiums?" "No." He said, "Not if you had continuous coverage for more than 6 months before that we can verify." The competitors said it would cost about $300 more. So I went with Esurance. Big mistake. After I sent them all documents confirming continuous coverage for the previous two years, they emailed me that they'll raise my premium by $500 because of that 9 day gap.

I called customer service. They said customer service people have no right to give me such a promise since it's another department. So they lied. I asked a supervisor to call. She called to tell me why I am wrong. I asked her to listen to the original conversation since they claimed to have taped them. She wouldn't. She lectured me why I should pay the extra $500 a year. Of course I am changing to another company. I am not going to stay a year with a bad company. What if I need them?

I had Geico auto insurance for 9 years without a single incident or problem. Geico slowly increased my premium from $240 to $360, and I decided to shop for a lower premium. Esurance looked okay, they proposed a $270 policy. Then, after taking my payment, they sent me an email asking for documentation for low-mileage usage on one of my two vehicles. And they wanted that strictly in a 30 days period, or they will increase my policy premium to $327. I made one picture of an odometer, and I needed another one exactly in 30 days. But I would be traveling abroad exactly when this 30-days period ends.

I called Esurance explaining that I’ll be abroad and will be able to make a second picture of the odometer only when I’m back in 40 days. They refused to take that and said they will increase my premium anyway. Then I had to pay $50 for a cancellation. I went back to Geico and was able to get even a better deal: $242. Lesson learned: better work with companies that you already know and trust. I regret that I paid Esurance this $50 cancellation fee, they did not deserve that - really inferior service and not caring about their customers even in small things. I called Esurance Customer Service to ask how I could cancel my contract with them should the rate increase - they told me there would be a $50 cancellation fee. I took the risk and finalized the 6-month contract with a start date about 2-3 weeks into the future. Then I did not hear from Esurance until the day the policy started... I thought everything is fine with the very competitive rate I got.

On the day the policy started I received an email from Esurance that my rate will go up by 56% because of driving record and claims history. I immediately cancelled the policy but had to pay the higher rate for a few days. I am not blaming Esurance that the rate went up because of my claims history, BUT it is not ok to let customers know on the very day the policy goes in effect weeks later even though during the signing process they tell you this will be checked within 48 hours. Esurance is purposely waiting for rate increase information until the day policies become effective in hopes customers will just stick with it because it is a hassle to shop for a new provider at that point. I recommend to stay away from them.

I purchased a 6 month policy and paid in full on 6/4/2016. The cost was 321.69. I've been with them for 3 years and never had an issue. 6/14 I was billed another 43.61. I called and I was told it was a 'tax' charged by the city of Covington. I discovered this to be not true after contacting a city official. The rep who explained this simply and rudely said 'It's a tax, man!'. I then contacted Progressive, confirmed there is no such tax from my city and was provided with a much more inexpensive quote and purchased through them. I contacted Esurance to cancel this policy and I requested a FULL refund because they misquoted me. They agreed to provide me a full refund and advised me it would be processed electronically.

Upon contacting them again on 6/19 to ask where my refund was, they advised me that they could not process the refund electronically and have instead mailed me a paper check. They advised me to wait at least 10 days for the check which would be 6/30. I still have not received my refund, and today is 6/30. Upon advising them that I have not received it, they stated it was sent on 6/21 and to wait a few more business days. This is absurd, as the 2nd charge for 43.61 was unexpected. It was billed to my PayPal account which drew from my bank account resulting in overdraft fees. I had intended to use PayPal credit for my policy, however the way it was billed resulted in it being drawn from my account. I discovered this as I was trying to buy gas to see my dad on father's day.

I contacted them that day and demanded my money, and I suspect as a result they purposely delayed my refund. My bank has agreed to reverse the bulk of my overdraft fees, but there is still $15 dollars they billed for it being overdrawn for the time it was (it was a week before I got my check deposited). Esurance agreed to compensate me for that fee but they are demanding that I fax them my bank statement, and are refusing to accept a screenshot of my bank info online. I don't trust them enough to want to share my statement with them and don't feel like I should be obligated to, considering I can send multiple screenshots proving their charge resulted in the situation I was in.

I have read several reviews regarding Esurance including one which asked how he/she could rely upon these reviews. I'm hoping this will help: I have been an attorney for nearly 30 years specializing in personal injury claims. As such, I cannot tell you how many insurance companies I have dealt with but, rest assured, I have had matters with dozens of different companies. I left my insurance carrier for Esurance because of pricing. This was, by far, the worst decision I could have made. It is important to know that I chose Esurance because they are an "Allstate Company." My experiences with Allstate over the years is that they will stand by their insureds no matter what.

Approximately 5 weeks after purchasing the Esurance policy, my daughter had a terrible accident. Thankfully, she was okay. As the accident was only 1 mile from our home I was able to get to the accident scene rather quickly. The police had just arrived and were interviewing the other driver; they approached my daughter with paperwork but never asked her what happened. I asked them if they needed her version and was told that they had enough information. When I looked at the cars involved (there were two), my car was almost into the shoulder and was clearly totaled. The other vehicle had traveled into the intersection, struck my car spinning it 180 degrees and continued over two cement islands coming to rest approximately 50-60 feet away. That car, too, was totaled.

I immediately reported the accident to Esurance and was assured that a full investigation would happen. I was assigned an adjuster who, from the beginning, acted as if she was on the other driver's side. The adjuster had taken this driver's statement; this driver said that she watched my daughter driving from all the way to the left through the entire intersection against traffic! In short, if this driver was moving from the 6 o'clock position to 12 o'clock position (she was), she stated that my daughter was traveling from the 9 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position. That would mean my child traveled nearly 6 lanes of moving traffic without a scratch.

Of course, this was not what the police indicated--my daughter was traveling from 12-6 o'clock. Esurance requested my daughter's statement (which I said we would give once we had the police report). The report came with a witness who indicated that the other driver ran a red light and my daughter struck the other driver. He said that the accident was the fault of the other driver. He had 2 passengers in his car. Esurance had the police report but, without my daughter's statement nor that of the witness, sent me a letter saying that my daughter was completely at fault for the accident. I sent a threatening letter, they re-opened the file, took more statements and, even after taking the statement of the witness determined that my daughter was 100% at fault.

I would NEVER recommend this company; they are extraordinarily difficult to deal with and do NOT act in good faith. I intend to file a lawsuit for bad faith (luckily I know how) but wonder how many people have been treated similarly that do not have the means to litigate against such a company. And, FYI, they are not really part of Allstate. Allstate purchased Esurance so as to have an online presence. I hope this has helped someone else out there.

I've been an Esurance customer for a couple of years now. We always pay on time because Esurance makes you pay automatically, and we have never filed any claims with them. My spouse and I both have excellent driving records, with no accidents or tickets for either of us. Our monthly payment for our two cars was about $200. Everything was fine until my husband scuffed a parked car in a grocery store parking lot, and then a week later it rained terribly here and my car flooded, totaling it out. Esurance handled the claim for my husband's fender bender quite well. They were very quick to respond to both myself and the gentleman whose car we scuffed.

An Esurance agent, Chris **, came to our house to evaluate my husband's truck, and cut a check made payable to both my husband and the repair shop they ended up selecting. When Mr. ** cut the check, he told my husband that we had rental reimbursement, and he could get a rental car whenever he was ready to drop his truck off at the repair shop. I know we had rental reimbursement, because I was put into a rental car that was paid for by Esurance for a few days after my car flooded and Esurance determined it was totaled. I was told at the time I made the claim for the flooded car that this particular claim did not count against me, and would not raise my rates.

When my husband was ready to get his truck fixed, we called Esurance simply to confirm that we did have rental coverage for this claim. The first two times I called in and went though the stupid automated menu, I was connected to an agent who then quickly HUNG UP ON ME. Both times. The third time I was connected to an agent, I began explaining my question, and the instant I mentioned the word "claim", he interrupted me and said he was going to transfer me to the claims department. I protested, but he spoke over me, and transferred me anyway. The lady in the claims department sounded like she already hated me, and as soon as I began explaining my question to her, she also interrupted me and transferred me to the agent who was over that particular claim, who, of course, was not in the office that day, so I left a voicemail.

During this time, Esurance charged me my monthly payment of about $200 - except that it was now $480, which they happily deducted without notifying me of the significant increase. After I was hit with this unexpected increase, I logged into my account and saw that my policy was set for renewal...at $580 a month! For coverage of ONE truck and two drivers with no record of accidents or citations (I removed my car after it was totaled and paid off by the bank). Of course we knew that our premium would go up, but we didn't expect it to nearly triple! I emailed Esurance (since they offer no live chat services and because I work for living, and therefore don't have all day to play around on the phone with snarky automated menus and rude agents who like to hang up on people) to inquire if this significant raise in my premium was adequate when compared to our nearly perfect driving record.

That was over a week ago, and I have never received any sort of reply, which I guess is a reply, in a sense. A nice, big ** reply. I also wasn't able to get in touch with the claims agent to confirm anything until I went to Twitter and started blowing up @EsuranceCares. Suddenly, Mr. Claims Agent had time to call me back. Not only did he say we WEREN'T covered for the rental car, he said that Mr. ** stated that he NEVER told us that. I get the feeling that we have been flagged, or marked in some sort of negative manner - presumably because we filed a claim with them. I still don't know if I am being penalized for the flooded car or not, but it doesn't matter. To expect a loyal and good customer to pay almost $600 A MONTH for coverage of ONE vehicle is absolutely absurd.

I received two quotes from two big names in the insurance game, and both are way cheaper for the exact same coverage I have now, and that's after informing both of them of my husband's accident and my flooded car. Esurance is obviously not interested in keeping customers if they increase their rates so ridiculously whenever someone utilizes the insurance coverage they pay for. As soon as we get my husband's truck fixed, we will be dropping Esurance like a bad habit and will go with one of the bigger names that also offers accident forgiveness.

I was a customer of Esurance for 1 week. When I originally did my policy over the phone I told the young man that I needed SR22. He assured me that it would not be a problem to add the SR22. Do feeling confident that I made the right choice with this insurance company, I said, "Ok let's write the policy up." Now my first quote without SR22 was $176.00. The very next day I called back to pay and the price went up to $327.00, I'm thinking it was because he didn't add the SR22 yet. So that was fine, I paid it. Within that same week I received a letter from the DMV telling me that I need to show proof of SR22 with my insurance company. I called Esurance to tell them what was needed before the DMV suspend my license.

The CS rep told me I didn't have SR22, and that if I wanted to add that I had to pay the first 6 months of SR22 up front first. Then she went on to say that it would be $752.00 to add the SR22 then they could send it over to the DMV. Ok, by this point I'm cursing, boiling, and going off on the phone at her. The only thing she kept saying was, "We can't don't anything for you or your SR22" because I didn't pay my first 6 months up front. I asked for the manager (I'm still cursing). No one never told me I had to pay my first 6 months up front if that was the case I would've never gave y'all my money from the start. So I asked the manager, "Will I be reimbursed my money back since I've only had y'all for 3 days?" The manager said, "No!!" That made me curse even more. How can you tell me I can't get my money back and you only covered me for 3 freaking days?

This manager told me the only way I can get my money back is if my license got suspended and the letter came to them from the DMV that they were suspended. That's it. I'm not going to wait for my license to be suspended before y'all pay me my money back. By this time, I'm crying and really upset. All of this happened on a Thursday, I only had 1 day to find another insurance company and my SR22 before that following Monday the day my license were to be suspended. I thank God for good people in my life because I'm with another insurance company where I didn't have to pay 6 months of SR22 up front, and I did all this on that Friday after Esurance bs. Something should be done about this company. I think they are crooked and they try to get extra money from people for things that are not even possible.

I've never know a insurance company to run your credit just to get homeowners insurance. How can you determine that I need to pay $98 monthly for 10,000 worth of homeowners insurance off my credit? This company is a fraud, they steal money any way that the can and someone really need to take a look into their files, and the customers complaints and why people are leaving them. Once again, Esurance is a Crooked insurance company that's stealing money from people, and from me reading all the other complaints this is and was something that Esurance has been doing for a while.

I have been insured with Esurance for a few years. At first we had a very reasonable policy premium. A few days later we are getting called from the underwriters that our policy was going up saying they just got the reports back and something's impacted the premium. They then called again a few days later wanting me to exclude my husband, who has a CDL license and drives for a living, from the policy due to his driving record. He had no accidents and no tickets for over 30 years but 1 speeding ticket he got in a work truck because the calibration was off and one minor bump on a vehicle that parked right behind our driveway on a street where parking is allowed on both sides of the street and made difficult to get out of our driveway. ABSURD!!

Next came an accident 12.30.15 which my granddaughter was authorized to drive the vehicle. It was raining. There was traffic and some ** came flying up the shoulder and cut someone off a few cars up so brakes were slammed, my granddaughter attempted to swerve to avoid an accident but caught the rear left bumper of the person in front of her. Essentially the vehicle was totaled but the body shop was able to maneuver the estimates in such a way that it didn't. A few days into the work on the vehicle, I get a call from someone at Esurance stating that if there's much more added to the estimate, they're just going to consider the vehicle a total loss to which I told him “Once work is started on a vehicle you can't turn around and total the vehicle.” Then I'm getting calls to exclude my granddaughter from the policy. NO WAY!!!

I fought long and hard about this and started looking for new insurance because I was told they weren't going to renew my policy. Then a few weeks later, I get a renewal offer. Great! Because changing insurance sometimes can be a hassle. The last straw was May 18, 2016. We get an email from an claims adjuster about an accident reported to one of my vehicles on May 17, 2016. I asked what he was talking about – none of my vehicles were in an accident. This is where it gets suspicious. An accident was reported as my granddaughter driving my vehicle which just happened to be reported as happening on a day my her and her another were on a plane coming home from Texas and just happened the alleged accident took place at the same exact spot as the December accident. They're claiming to have proof from the claimant, pictures.

How can there be damage to his car when there's none to mine and my vehicle was not on the road that day? I had to send pictures of the vehicle which I did which showed no damage. They tried for 3 weeks to get a hold of the claimant for pictures. Finally he sent stuff in. It's total ** and it's a set up from Esurance. The pictures sent to the adjuster show each car individually. I have had to fight because they're stating there's damage to the license plate which is proof. HELLOOO that is damage fr on the December accident!!! I demanded someone to come out in person which was done and he even said there's no damage and it would show splintering of paint if my car was in an accident. Next comes the call from a special investigator. Trying to intimidate my granddaughter in to confessing because it will be easier in the long run and the damage is only $950.

Sorry but NO, not confessing to something we didn't do. I spoke with his supervisor and FOUGHT with her too. I TOLD her to pull the files from the December accident. She can because she works for Esurance, and view both pictures together. There's preexisting damage that they were claiming was new. They wanted to come out and take my granddaughter’s statement. Hello are you stupid? She has already given her statement and had a statement of non involvement notarized. This is such a scam insurance. In the middle of all this, they had an underwriter call wanting us to add or exclude someone in the household who doesn't have a license or even a permit solely because he was 16. Hellooo Maryland law states you cannot edit someone fr on the policy to which you can't insure.

That was a fight too. My God. One damn accident and ** blows up in your face. I got a new policy with a new company and called to cancel my policy with Esurance and they're asking me why and so flat out told them their company is **. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ESURANCE UNLESS YOU WANT NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS.

As soon as Esurance had taken my payment in full, they requested all kinds of proof for their supposed "discounts." They requested proof of previous policy or my rate would go up by $ 300 which was a 40% increase of my current premium. I provided proof of my previous coverage so my policy premium remained the same. The following day (day 1 of my policy being in effect), they reviewed my policy declarations and although I had provided proof of insurance during the last 6 months, they stated that my Bodily Injury Limit was 30k person/60k incident and for this reason, my rating was being downgraded and my policy with Esurance was going from 50k/100k bodily injury to 30k/60k and my policy premium was still going up another $ 205 (which was about 33% higher than the current premium I had).

GEICO provided a cheaper quote without any of the arbitrary rules that Esurance had. To me it seemed as though they were going to find any excuse to spike my premium after the supposed "discounts" they provided. How can they lower your limits and spike your premium? How is my bodily injury limit relevant to my new insurance policy and then a reason to spike my policy premium? To me it seems, they make you jump through hoops and more to provide any supposed discount. They have arbitrary, subjective and beneficial policies to them to spike your premium once you are on the hook.

Upon cancellation of a policy I used 1 day, they take the liberty of charging me a 10% cancellation fee of the total policy premium-not the $ 754 they originally quoted me and priced me, but rather the $ 960, they had spiked the premium to, after I was already on the hook with them. My 1 day policy and stress with Esurance cost me $ 100. To put the cherry on top, they e-mailed me documentation to return a driver sense device for another insured in another state. Just another sign of the disorganization of this company and their true colors. I could have used that money in much better ways. I have policy now through GEICO. Whatever you do, avoid Esurance.

I filed one claim with insurance and they doubled my premium. They tried to justify this saying that it increased because of that one claim, I lost a "no claim discount", and that my state regulations have changed in the past 2 months. So my 6 month premium for one driver on one car went from $500 to $1000. Do not trust them, they are criminals and I should contact the attorney general.

Esurance called them to settle the claim on the vehicle and when we were going over the settlement they seriously undervalued the truck. I ask for a copy of their evaluation and when I received it everything was rated at a low/average private category. They refused to raise it even though the vehicle was in excellent condition. I called a company I was referred to and they negotiated on our behalf. They got the settlement up 3999.00 +tax. I would recommend anyone going through them to call this company. I couldn't believe the difference. He explained they do this all the time and a standard business practice for them. If anyone needs help with their settlement call them at **. Addressing the claim entered on 05/13/2016 located at UPS STORE, in Vista CA, Collision cased on my left rear side of my vehicle. As I was pulling out of the parking space located at UPS postal store, in Vista CA. I was visual and moving slow to make sure, no one or other vehicle was in the direction I was exiting from. In doing so, the lady, was coming across quickly, not realizing I was on the way exiting the parking space. She was wanting to park in the empty parking spot on my left and hit me causing the collision.

When I inquired to her "Didn't you see me", she stated, she did and thought I was going to stop. At that point I requested her insurance information, request her name, took a picture of the collision, called my insurance and gave them all the details of the collision. Due to her reckless negligence and uncaring nature for the Laws and Rules of the Road and The Right Of Way Rules. It has made this experience a difficult one. I've had to drop my vehicle off this Monday 05/16/2016 at Euro Pacific for repair. I've also had to get a rental car from Enterprise on 05/16/2016.

What really saddens me from all this, is that I've received a call today 05/17/2016, from ESURANCE Agent, stating that I'm at fault for this collision, due to me not looking as I backed out. Not only is this incorrect and untrue, because I was looking straight back to my rear, keeping visual and moving slow. I find this statement to be a TORT and a DECEIT, a false representation of material fact existing.

Therefore, correction of this dispute should be made to reflect on Her insurance and not mine. Due to her failure NOT to YIELD, STOP and WAIT. Not allowing a safe distance to prevent collision. Not allowing reaction time to brake or maneuver if necessary. Not driving at a safe speed or control speed. Not allowing the CA RIGHT OF WAY RULE. Failure to use her horn to warn other vehicle exiting. Closing: Safe driving requires personal responsibility at all times. To use sound judgment, reflexes, experience, and common sense every time, you are behind the wheel a vehicle. Another important element of safe driving is COURTESY. BE COURTEOUS AT ALL TIME.

Most drivers rarely need to file an accident claim and can become complacent as to why they should carry insurance. No driver ever wants to be involved in any kind of traffic accident. But accidents do happen and that's when the really good insurance companies shine. Less than 6 months ago I changed auto insurance companies due to rising premiums with my "old" insurer that covered my cars for about 10 years. I went with Esurance, subsidiary of Allstate, for a lower premium, but I think I got a lot more than just a bargain on my premium.

I had driven cars, pick-up trucks, vans in Colorado for about 25 years with no accidents and no insurance claims until this past April. Gratefully, no one was hurt in the collision I had with a bicycle in mid-April. Cops and EMTs arrived in minutes after my call to 911. The bicyclist was standing and getting his bearings when help arrived. He suffered no injuries in the collision but the front and windshield of my car were badly dented and smashed.

About 90 seconds after I called Esurance's 800 #, Claims Adjuster Jerusha ** phoned me and started gathering info. She took on the case with high professionalism and guided me over the next 2 weeks through all aspects of my claim. I can't thank Esurance enough for the adept guide Ms. ** had been through the whole process. She emailed and phoned with new info every couple days, I felt respected, acknowledged, and my questions were thoroughly answered all through the whole procedure.

Kudos also to Gerber Collision & Glass, recommended by Ms. **, for the quick and professional repairs on my car and for fixing the minor leak with my replacement windshield. Esurance had an opportunity to jerk a client around or to step up and honor their contract with me. Hence the good review from an impressed customer. Not all claims filed with Esurance move along as smoothly as was my experience. No one can say for certain how an insurer will respond when investigating a claim. I also want to thank ConsumerAffairs.com for the service comparison reviews and charts that helped me decide when I started shopping auto insurers late last year.

Since I had been hearing this company slogan they are jacking up my premium from $709 to $986, and my recent quote is showing $1408, which is totally crazy. That is the payment for my both cars for 2 months. This guys are robbing us blind giving excuses policy can change based on many factors blah blah blah. I, regretfully, changed auto & homeowner's insurance from GEICO to Esurance only 5 months ago, primarily because the homeowners premium was considerably less than Liberty Mutual's. When my auto premium came due, Esurance had raised it by $70. When I inquired why, I was told that I had been "granted" a "new customer discount" & I will no longer be receiving that discount. Well, that in itself was enough to motivate me to find yet another insurer who wasn't going to jerk me around, which I did. It gets better! When I call Esurance to cancel both policies, I am informed there will be cancellation fees on both policies, to the tune of $70! How coincidental! They're getting their $70 one way or another! This is how they intend to attract new clients & retain loyal ones? My advice: Stay clear of Esurance.

No complaints for several years. All of a sudden when she moved from my home, they said she had to get her own policy which I said I would pay for and they took $86.62 from my checking account on 3/25. If you have heard otherwise from Esurance reviews, I highly doubt it. It is a good insurance company if you dont have to file a claim or need a big job done as a result of an accident or whatnot. As long as you dont file a claim worth 500 dollars you are in the right and ok with them. This insurance company is terrible, I am filing a claim with my state regulators as soon as possible.

Let me tell you if you dare choose to go ahead with this company and get insurance from them, You better hope you dont drive in snow or get caught in any misfortune. Because you will be assed out. The review subject captures the essence of this review. My auto policy was coming up for renewal and I thought it might be time to shop around. I looked at all of the big names: GEICO, State Farm, Esurance, and Progressive. Every time I would fill out my information on one of the online forms to get a quote, I would be amazed at how much I was saving, until I got to the checkout screen. That is when each company runs your self-reported information with records, driving history and a back-end formula to calculate your REAL premium. I had acted premature and cancelled my auto insurance based on the pre-checkout total, so I was committed to choosing a new insurance provider. I chose Esurance because it still seemed I was saving some money, about $35 per month. Not so!

I received my first phone call shortly after registering. The sales rep explained that my premium would increase due to some new information they found about where I garaged my vehicle. Whatever, I thought, as long as I don't have to think about this again for another six months, I'm fine as long as I'm not paying more than my previous insurance. Not so!

Two days ago, I got an email from the underwriter explaining that I would need to provide documentation that my roommates have auto insurance, otherwise I would have to exclude them. Lucky for Esurance, exclusion means another chance to raise my premium. Now my premium is even more than what it was, and the coverage isn't really better. The cronies at the insurance company have once again found a way to nickel and dime customers based on "assessing risk" and reducing their liabilities. They don't care about gouging you for pennies or the fact that increasing your premium affects/strains your budget, despite it barely making a dent in their revenues. All they care about is getting everything they can from you.

Furthermore, Esurance has no customer service to speak of. When I talked to the underwriter on the phone, all he could do was speak about how my premium would increase if I didn't send over the information they needed. I had to press him to tell me how I would do that. Even then, he forgot to tell me about the forms I would need and I had to send an email over. See, they don't have the customer in mind. They're not there to walk you through things or help you in any way. I wouldn't be surprised if in a month they tell me I signed up for paper statements (add $25 per month) or they increased their installment cost (add $5 per month). What a sham.

On top of all that, Esurance really just isn't value for your money. My previous insurer was a local agent that filed all of the paperwork for me, dealt with the insurance company, got me a deal on renter's insurance and had a very pleasant personality to boot. Woe is me! I made a huge mistake not only leaving them, but leaving them for an impersonal money gouging machine.

To anyone looking at insurance - seriously, look for local agents. It may seem like you're paying more upfront, but don't be fooled. When they give you your costs, they usually give it to you straight up and don't throw any surprise punches. I've been hit by a few from Esurance already and now have to worry about the next one knocking me down.

Last November, during a blizzard, a snow plow knocked a streetlight into the street. Because the street light was not moving anymore it was my fault that I hit it. Even though I tried to swerve to miss it I couldn't in the snowy and icy conditions. They were not interested in contacting the city or the police department even though I filed a report. I spoke to several different representatives there during the claim process and each one was from a different location and couldn't even pronounce my name correctly.

They were efficient in getting me the options for the auto body shops and they did send them payment in a timely manner, but they also sent one of the payment checks to an old address of mine. Maybe if they had the same person working on the claim they could have managed to get both checks sent to the same place, maybe. I recently got my renewal notice and they raised my rates 100%!! I expected it to go up, but that much is just ridiculous. I am happy to go elsewhere and pay a little more knowing that I now have a dedicated representative that will answer any questions I have. And she is really nice and actually cares and knows her customers. So if you are looking for cheap, sure go with Esurance, but if you want at least somewhat decent customer service, keep shopping around! I gave them a 3 on value and coverage because originally they were pretty good.

A brief review, please note I have all emails still currently if needed to show the process, proof. There were so many unprofessional things about this company so I will give a minimal breakdown of my experience. The first year with Esurance went well, they beat out their competitors. The second year I renewed again they beat the competitors. However during the second year I had what appeared to be a drunk driver hit my car, regardless, it was a hit and run which destroyed my car. From the picture you can tell someone hit it, not it hitting someone!

They processed fairly quickly the inspection and deemed it totaled. However now was the problem. My friend did borrow the car and I was honest, could've lied and said I parked it, with them. I gave them the police report and all information needed. Then they wanted phone logs from my friend and I, they wanted so much information. So I sent what I could even phone logs of my phone. This claims guy Juan ** from NY office decided to be unprofessional and wanted to play FBI apparently. The finding he said is they won't file a claim because if a year goes by and someone says my friend hit them they don't want a lawsuit. They really said that.

Here we are a year plus later and there's still no claim made to me. I took a full loss on my second car thanks to Esurance. The underwriters tried to claim my landlord, old neighbors and my friend lived with me, in my tiny studio apartment! It was hilarious. They even jacked up my premium, even not doing a claim! They put the hit and run on my friends license but not mine, however they made no claim. I don't know why. I will say they are very lucky they didn't put on mine or I would've driven to NY to fix it in person.

Background info : I had full coverage for BOTH cars, one newer 2009 one older 2004. I have a perfect driving record. Excellent credit. No criminal background. Law abiding citizen etc. No false or bad insurance claims. No indication of anything, a police report on the hit and run and gave proper paperwork and information. To this date in 2015 and 2016 I had to pay excise tax on the car even though it's totaled and was taken for parts because the claim was never processed. There is no paperwork to show that the car was finalized insurance wise.

In final I will say yes price wise, at first, Esurance seems they are good. But should you file a claim be prepared to share phone logs, jump through hoops and bend over for them. They were highly unprofessional, disrespectful on the phone, judgmental, defaming and very unwilling to use the information provided to make a claim. I have been told to take them to court but I think getting the word out there is better for business. I may still though. I'm not sure. Please stay far away from them, for you and your car's sake.

I signed up for Esurance around the time of September of 2015. The actual amount I had to pay was a little higher than the quoted amount. I signed for 6 months.

The first thing that irked me about this company that I did not like was that they had automatic renewal defaulted. Meaning, If I was not paying attention, they would have started charging me for a new contract a month prior to that new contract even beginning. That's not cool, because I was going to make a switch to another company that was roughly $50 cheaper on a monthly basis.

The second thing that was not cool was how difficult it was to turn off the renewal. I searched for over an hour on the mobile app that I use to try to turn off the renewal. I logged onto the website to try the same thing. I could not find it, so I had to call them in order to do this. This is where the third issue comes into play.

Three: They have unpleasant customer service line. I had to wait for over 20 minutes, navigating my way through robot this and robot that in order to find someone to talk to about my situation. NO, I do not want to renew. They wanted to know why I wanted to leave them. I told them it was because I do not like their services anymore, and I found better deals elsewhere.

Fourth problem, is their dirty tactics to try to get me to come back. I cancelled their insurance, but my plan wasn't up for another 20-some odd days. A few days before the plan being over, I get an email from them saying "Thanks for requesting a car insurance quote. Continue online and see your savings." with the value $79.92 over a link. I did not ask them for a quote. I left them because they were going to charge me $260 a month. When I clicked on the link, it lead me to log into my already existing account with them. The email was a fake, click-bait email designed to get me to go onto their site and reconsider something I have already decided on. The last time I requested a quote from them was at least 7-8 months ago. And the original requested quote was at least double this value.

However, now Esurance coverages Oklahoma and we have switched over. We have Allstate which is basically Esurance but apparently they actually give you the Good Driver, and the Multi-Car and a few other discounts.

I have a Alarm on my car and Gps on my car and etc. and with actual Allstate I am not getting those discounts because the agent that I have is telling me "Allstate doesn't really hand those discounts out individually. They do it but you don't really see them." Well I want to see them and I want to know that I am getting them + I have towing and Car Rental and etc.--it's amazing and for HALF the price.

I don't really know why people are saying that they are having problems with their payments considering they take the payment from your card or checking acct. unless you don't have the money in there but you don't send the money into them you have never sent the money into them even when we had them in California they have never sent the money into them.

I am confident that we will be very happy with Esurance. They said the payment would be taken out on the 15th and it was taken out on the 15th and it hit our bank yesterday so that will work really great. :) And you can always call in before it's to come out and rearrange the payment date. You may enjoy low sign on rates with Esurance. But they hiked my rate up twice in the first two years. The first was up $15 (not bad) in 6 months. The second hike was up $57.00. No driving record change. Said it was a statewide increase. Thanks for rewarding my good driving Esurance. I'm moving elsewhere.

Not only do they NOT PAY IN A TIMELY MANNER once claims are accepted, Esurance and its employees MISREPRESENTS THEIR SERVICES, POLICIES, AND VIOLATES STATE STATUTES. Not only did they not pay me, the named insured, they took it upon themselves to pay my benefits to Medicare WITHOUT my written assignment of benefits because they say, Medicare paid my hospitalization when I had a car accident. But isn't that the general reason any person would buy a PIP coverage, to help them with out-of-pocket costs in the event of a disabling car accident???

I signed up with Esurance last year because my previous insurance company raised my rates excessively after the first year. Esurance offered what I felt was a fair rate. I was pleasantly surprised that my 6 month renewal did not include a rate increase. Now, after a year with the company, they raised my rate by $81 for the next 6 month period. No fault of my own! They said I had lost my 'switching over' discount which was 5%. The rest of the increase was 22%+ just because they felt they needed more money. I might add that my state of Iowa agreed with their request! I'm not sure if the state ever denies a company's request. Here's what is so frustrating. This isn't the first time I've switched auto insurance companies due to an increase in rates. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying there is never a need for a rate increase. I'm just more understanding if the increase is in line with inflation and other factors, like driving history, for example.

I am unfortunately seeing a pattern developing with auto insurance companies in general. If, after long hours of searching and finding a fair rate, it appears guaranteed that in 6 months to a year you will see a disproportionate increase in your rate even if you are the safest driver around! I'm retired and living on a fixed income. I did not receive any cost of living raise for 2016. When one bill goes up over 22% for a 6 month period, it's difficult to make budget adjustments. And you know car insurance isn't the only bill going higher! It's sad that the process isn't more consumer friendly in searching for low cost, quality auto insurance. Being a good driver does not mean getting good rates. It should be! But insurance companies come up with other criteria like: where you live, your credit score, your occupation, marital status, education level and more. Anything to use to raise your rates!

They have since cancelled my coverage and request I pay the full starter fee again. When I told them the previous rep said next week would be fine, I explained my financial situation and he said he understood, would make note, but my payment the following week would be accepted. So the new rep then got snippy and said "well I don't see how that's possible but you're gonna have to pay the 400 dollars to reinstate your coverage." I can barely get my regular payment of 157 in a month due to my small paychecks. How the hell can I come up with that much more. Could have been avoided without the miscommunication. So I purchase the policy online and my rates skyrocket because of non disclosure of the accident. I tell them that I spoke with a rep and the first rep I speak with hangs up on me and then the other supervisors tell me that I never called in and even if I didn't it has no bearing on the policy I purchased. I currently don't have the funds to continue to purchase insurance. I will be letting this policy go in a month and hopefully be able to get insurance with an honest company. After that, I signed up and paid the beginning fee of $418. The company immediately withdrew the money, then a couple hours later, I received an email saying that I needed to confirm my previous insurance policy.

I called Esurance to verify that the price wouldn't change as long as I proved that I had continuous auto insurance coverage. The woman on the phone insured me that they just wanted to make sure I didn't have any gaps in my auto coverage. Then, after sending the information, they informed me that I was going to have to pay about $600 more, because I signed up for a bodily injury package that was different than my previous coverage. I am extremely disappointed in this company, and I don't understand how they can change the policy amount after I agreed to the terms and paid my fees.

I was at first very happy when I got a quote from Esurance it was a little cheaper than my current insurance company and a lot cheaper than any other insurance company in Missouri. But I started doing my homework on this company and on this site I observed customer after customer reviews stated Esurance will hook you with a low rate then raise the rate and renewal. I started to think about the old saying cheaper is not always better. It is the quality of the insurance with price that matters most.

I looked at Liberty Mutual for homeowner's insurance, they were the second best in price behind Esurance. I compared the coverages on the policies and found that even though Esurance was $200 dollars cheaper per year the coverages with Liberty Mutual were much better. Liberty Mutual had a lower deductible on wind and hail, and a $10,000 dollar water backup coverage to name a few. When I added the coverages to Esurance quote to make the policies the same. The cost increased by $400 making them $200 higher. I could not change the wind and hail deductible with Esurance which computed to $3,500 and it was only $1,500 with Liberty Mutual. The bottom line, other customers are correct, beware of the low cost with this company and do your homework, compare the coverages in the policies very very closely. I will not be changing to this company.

In a nutshell, this has been going on for almost a year. I am trying to get them to give me my deductible back. They say Cumberland Farms admitted to 50%. How could I be at fault at all in my lane? The truck, plain and simple just came into my lane and I was squeezed into a snowbank. The car work was pretty much done except for a few dings and the car stereo is defective. I can't directly link that to the accident but it worked fine before it. All I get when Pershing this is tossed from one rep to another. Some were polite others not at all. As far as I'm concerned they still owe me at least the $250. In all fairness they have been quick in getting my auto body place paid. Also as a result, they raised my premium over $100 per month without discussion and then lowered it after Cumberland Farms' admission. All without explanation.

Esurance's slogan "sorta you isn't you, Esurance helps make sure you only pay for what's right for you, not someone sorta like you." WRONG! BUYER BEWARE: Your rates will increase even if you are a LOW risk driver. So their slogan, is completely a lie. When I purchased a policy through them about a year ago (2-3-15), I was ecstatic that between my auto insurance for 2 vehicles and homeowners insurance for our home, we were saving nearly $400 a year. Not bad right? Well, when my first 6 month term can due to renew, they increased my premium by $28 ($56 a year). Despite not having any tickets/accident/claims of any kind (EVER, not just during my policy term with Esurance), I thought, well, ok that's not a huge increase and I'm still saving money. So I let it go.

Then when my next 6 month term was due for renewal (which was just about a week ago), it increased again, but this time making it nearly $200 more a year - just IN ONE YEAR of being insured by them! WHAT?!?! I'm a GOOD driver, yet my rates increase that much!?! So I decided to investigate my homeowners policy as well... and that increased as well!!! So now I was paying almost as much as I was a year ago before I switched to Esurance! I contacted them to find out why the increase and their reason was "...When we have to pay more for claims, unfortunately, we have to raise rates". Um, claims?! Not from ME! So why am I, who is a good driver, with NOT ONE single claim ever made or ticket/violation in my 21 years of driving, paying for someone who HAS made claims, had tickets/violations ... etc. Apparently, "sorta you" IS you no matter what with Esurance.

I explained to them about a car accident that I had back in 2014 and a speeding ticket I had back in 2012. I explained to them that my car was registered in NC. They sent me over to a NC Agent but when I told the NC Agent that I was in NJ working I was then transferred to NJ Agent. With this NJ Agent I was quoted at $858. The NJ Agent ask for my address and I gave them the NJ address and they found about 8 other names that had used this same address that I was staying at. When the agent saw this I was told that my policy can possible go up to over $2,489. They ask me who those people were. I told them that they were relatives who at one time lived there but were no longer living there and that they were not driving my car.

The agent proceeded to ask me if they had their own car and if so who was their insurance carrier, how old were they, did they have their own policy and if so for me to get a copy of their policy. Ex: how much their policy was and fax it over to them. Once they received this information then my insurance wouldn't go up from the $800 to $2,489. They then looked at the address that my car was registered at which was NC and saw that the person that I rented a room from was married and their son use to live there. I was questioned about the owners of this home and where was the son and if I didn't produce a bill from this home preferably an electric bill then my policy would go up. They gave me two weeks to produce this information.

A month later I got a letter stating that if they didn't get the above information my next payment will be $2,489. When I saw this amount I cancelled my policy. I was told that I have to pay a cancellation fee. I was like "for what?" I was told that I was in a $1,500 contract with ESURANCE. I told them that I never heard of being in a contract with an INSURANCE Company. I was told that my policy was a NC Policy.

I then spoke with the Underwriter by the name of Lateefah. While on the phone she went over my policy from the beginning and saw that my policy was opened underneath NJ. About two weeks after my policy was opened it was then change to a NC Policy without my knowledge and now they are trying to get a CANCELLATION Fee from me. I don't owe them anything - they owe me for signing up with them. I am saying this loud and clear - do not sign up with them. They will rob you blind with false information and knack at taking your money. If anything can be done I'd like for this company to be looked into and for them to stop emailing for any monies that they think I owe them when they really owe me.

First tow driver, had no idea he was suppose to have the equipment and told me it was nothing he could do and I need to call my Roadside assistance and road off "Auto Access Towing". Call Esurance back, had to explain from start to finish, they scheduled another tow with the ETA of 2:05pm "Metro Atlanta Towing Service LLC". Tow driver arrived, stated he had the equipment but it is broken and I needed to call their office. They stated they had a truck that could come and be to me in 20 to 30 minutes. I am still waiting on this truck and it is now 5pm.

If and when the tow comes, that would be great as the Mercedes parts department closes at 6pm. I recommend you not use this company for roadside assistance. I will be cancelling this coverage and purchasing AAA Platinum as soon as I turn the keys in my car. It's now December and my claim still is not processed. I have been a auto Esurance customer for nearly 6 years. Since I have been using their services I haven't had any problems until now. I decided to purchase their homeowner insurance because of savings and the history that I had with them as a customer. This was a bad decision. My home was broken into and I received the worse customer service and lack of professionalism from the claims department. They do not properly return phone calls or update you on your claim. I provided all the pertinent information that was requested of me in a timely manner, and this situation still appears to be unresolved.

My documents were said to be submitted twice for payment processing but I'm still waiting. I also experienced computer submission mishaps. After loading everything in I was told that the item list was not found. I had to resend pictures of receipts and items via email. This has been a devastating situation to go through for my daughter and me. Having to move twice due to the burglary was nowhere in my plans. With Esurance being a reputable company, I had the strong belief that this situation would have been resolved in a timely manner.

I was very appalled by the questions that I have been asked during this process such as: do the police have any suspects and were there any witnesses? I feel that those questions were irrelevant and had no bearings on the fact that my personal items had been taken from my home and personal space invaded. Clearly, there is a police report of proof that my home was burglarized and my possessions were taken. These questions should be directed to the police. I pay for both of my policies faithfully and on time. I can only expect a prompt resolution. I have been more than patient through this process. I am really displeased with my services. I was comparing insurance rates for car insurance. My current provider GEICO was charging $1,800 for 6 Months for 2 cars and another offer was from State Farm for $1,680 same coverage. Also I got a quote from Esurance for actually $1,380 and I provided all information SSN, Driver License, records etc, etc. So I switched to Esurance and after I paid via CC online a couple of days later I got notice from Esurance that they re-rated the insurance and it's now $1,999.

I tried to get an explanation without success so far - after switching insurance companies has a negative impact on your credit score and insurance history with higher costs long term. I was filling now a complaint in my state against Esurance. So be careful when you switch to Esurance. I believed that this is a reliable and honest company but it seems I was wrong with this assumption. I can't rate their other services and how good they are in case of an accident. Personally I will cancel the policy now and will not recommend Esurance to anyone.

We deal with auto insurance claims fairly regularly and this company is by far the most difficult and unfair auto insurance company that I have dealt with in my 15 years as office manager at our clinic. The adjusters are rude and the claims are not paid in a timely way, they are unreasonable in their request for records and claim over and over again that records were not received after being sent numerous times. On November the third I get a message from my bank for ACH charge because my card was overdrawn and had to refuse payment to Esurance for $200. We call them to find what is going on and they said we never paid the new renewing premium and that we only paid $11 on the 22nd and the rest on the first of the month and now our insurance will be cancelled because we failed to pay. They are overpriced and have terrible customer service and steal your money.

Esurance is a SCAM. Initially they offered better rates than competitor like GEICO, State Farm and Progressive. 2 Weeks later they raised my rate by 50%! I called and cancelled this scam the next day. Rep told me my refund would be 80% of my 6-month premium (for a policy I had for 20 days only). Esurance only refunded 60% of my money. They took 40% of my 6-month policy for a 20 day policy. They scammed at every turn. Plus the extra headache of dealing with their reps. Stay away. Stay far away. You have been warned. These criminals need to be prosecuted in the court of law.

I have been with Esurance for 6 months, I sold my car and I wanted to cancel my policy. I started this a week ago, keep in mind I am still being billed for a car I don't have. So I sent in a cancellation request fax, they said it was missing something so I said "Fine send me a template of what the letter should say." So I did it again, following the template. They still told me it was missing something so I did it again, 3 faxes, 2 calls to customer care and this is still not resolved. Now instead of getting money back I am going to owe another month because of the elapsed time it is taking to get it canceled. Don't go with this company. They also raised my rates for no reason. I have done no claims or get citations.

At first Esurance offered a lower rate than my previous car insurance. They took first and last payment for my 6 months term, which I was ok with because I was saving a few dollars. They asked for a "renewal payment" 2 months prior to my term ending. Why? Every other company takes your renewal payment at the time of renewal. I found this quite annoying considering that my new rate was a lot higher ($169.00 to $208.99). Why? I hadn't had any accidents or incidents, clean driving record, no tickets. I called to question why did my premium go up, the agent (which seemed very bored when speaking to me) told me that my "new customer" discount no longer applied. When I asked about any additional discounts that may be applied she went on to tell me that insurance rates never go down and they ALWAYS go up. In her words "it is a myth that insurance goes down with time". Really? Then why was I able to find better coverage elsewhere?

I waited to submit my renewal payment because I was very unsure of wanting to renew with them. My worse mistake was submitting my renewal payment without double checking quotes with other companies. The same day I renewed, I also got a call from another insurance company quoting me a lot lower than Esurance, of course, I took it. I then called Esurance to let them know that I was going to cancel with them. They told me that I would get a refund for the amount that I had submitted with a small penalty, LIES!!! I ended up getting a mere $74.00 of the total amount I had paid them. I lost $134 for 24 hrs of coverage and to top it off the agent nor the manager cared enough to make this right. All in all they STOLE my money and I will NEVER go back to them, especially after reading how bad they are in paying out for repairs.

After receiving an email that my policy was cancelled, without any notification, I called to resolve the issue only to be told that there was nothing they could do. I tried to fax in various documents for a co-signer on my auto, but they claimed they didn't receive them although they received the first round of faxes. Therefore they cancelled without warning. When I called to ask why, they didn't even try to apologize and increased my premium $200.

I am very unhappy with the recent experience I've had with this company. I live in New York and this past winter was a very bad one. I was coming home one night from work and my car skidded on a patch of black ice and I hit a mound of snow in front of my house. My whole front bumper was cracked. My car at the time was a lease that had to be returned very soon. I didn't have the money to pay for it out of pocket. We have car insurance for a reason, for incidents like this.

I submitted a claim with Esurance to have the bumper fixed before I had to turn the car back into Nissan the next month. I was told when I submitted the claim that it would not affect my insurance premium in any way. Needless to say, I ended up having to pay a thousand dollars for my bumper because Esurance only sent paid 23 dollars towards the claim I submitted. They sent my auto body shop a check for 23 dollars. Last week I got my renewal premium for the next 6 months...

My insurance rates went from 229 a month to 479 a month all because of that one claim. I am now considered assigned risk again at 27 years old with an absolutely clean driving record, no prior accidents, no tickets. I have shopped around for quotes with different companies and I am now "blacklisted" with every single company. Some don't even want to even give me any coverage. So now, I am paying almost 6 thousand dollars a year for insurance all because of a 23 dollar check Esurance sent me. I am absolutely disgusted and wouldn't recommend this insurance company to ANYONE.

However, I'd like to see them offer better incentives like better safe driver discounts, car replacement guarantees in case my car is totaled. I'd also like to see discounts for other products, similar to how AAA works. I would definitely be more likely to recommend Esurance if this were possible. And I'd be a happier customer as well.

Today, a month later, I received a notice that they are terminating coverage due to not receiving the Driver Exclusion Form. However, the Driver Exclusion form (with all my and the excluded drivers' information) is right there in their website under documents. It is also plainly noted on the Auto policy. Upon calling them, they basically gave the answer that they were unable to help even after I pointed out that the documents exist, are filled out by me, and reside on their website in my account.

When compared to other insurance providers the newly raised Esurance contract rates are still less expensive. Yet when I think about it I become quite irritated about the slight increase of rates by Esurance.

What company rewards their customers by raising their rates for cars that are worth less? How is that not seen as not just another example of corporate greed? In today's world there is little reason to have brand loyalty because just when you start to feel good about a company they pull shenanigans and read from some ditto upper management have given them to read to you that is full of double speak when you call to ask justification for their actions. Their first mistake of many was that they double sent me driver's tracking device and wanted to charge me for the extra one even though I returned it. Then went up on rate saying the driver's device wasn't connected even though you could log on and see that it was tracking every move. Went on for days them saying corrected, then it would start all over again.

At renewal they went up on premium even though no accidents, tickets, nothing. When I cancelled, they returned only partial amount of what they withdrew, saying they would return when device returned then got email saying they were going to withdraw even more. After numerous conversations with them, and talks with my credit card company, my money was finally returned a couple of months later.
