Company is awful. They have made it a personal endeavor to prolong a claims process for an accident. Some guy named Juan ** from NY. He speaks to you in an awful tone and calls me a liar? Did the police academy not want him? He works for a low rate car insurance company and sounds like he grew up on the streets. My adjuster can barely write an email with full english in it.
They ask for phone records, employment information, my boss's information, my family's information, etc. for what??? He spoke to me in a way that I bet he loves having that phone between himself and customers because I could bet money he would hold that tongue of his if these meetings were in person. Awful company, their promises rates are never as told. They throw in costs without you knowing. They speak to you like you're a criminal. When you have a car insurance company speaking to you that way, there is a problem. Anyone with Esurance, switch as quick as you can!

Esurance is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They gave me one premium and then a few days after I switched, sent me a email that the premium was incorrect and it was $50 more a month! I will be switching from them and will never recommend them to anyway. Total bait and switch!!!

A brief review, please note I have all emails still currently if needed to show the process, proof. There were so many unprofessional things about this company so I will give a minimal breakdown of my experience. The first year with Esurance went well, they beat out their competitors. The second year I renewed again they beat the competitors. However during the second year I had what appeared to be a drunk driver hit my car, regardless, it was a hit and run which destroyed my car. From the picture you can tell someone hit it, not it hitting someone!
They processed fairly quickly the inspection and deemed it totaled. However now was the problem. My friend did borrow the car and I was honest, could've lied and said I parked it, with them. I gave them the police report and all information needed. Then they wanted phone logs from my friend and I, they wanted so much information. So I sent what I could even phone logs of my phone. This claims guy Juan ** from NY office decided to be unprofessional and wanted to play FBI apparently. The finding he said is they won't file a claim because if a year goes by and someone says my friend hit them they don't want a lawsuit. They really said that.
Here we are a year plus later and there's still no claim made to me. I took a full loss on my second car thanks to Esurance. The underwriters tried to claim my landlord, old neighbors and my friend lived with me, in my tiny studio apartment! It was hilarious. They even jacked up my premium, even not doing a claim! They put the hit and run on my friends license but not mine, however they made no claim. I don't know why. I will say they are very lucky they didn't put on mine or I would've driven to NY to fix it in person.
Background info : I had full coverage for BOTH cars, one newer 2009 one older 2004. I have a perfect driving record. Excellent credit. No criminal background. Law abiding citizen etc. No false or bad insurance claims. No indication of anything, a police report on the hit and run and gave proper paperwork and information. To this date in 2015 and 2016 I had to pay excise tax on the car even though it's totaled and was taken for parts because the claim was never processed. There is no paperwork to show that the car was finalized insurance wise.
In final I will say yes price wise, at first, Esurance seems they are good. But should you file a claim be prepared to share phone logs, jump through hoops and bend over for them. They were highly unprofessional, disrespectful on the phone, judgmental, defaming and very unwilling to use the information provided to make a claim. I have been told to take them to court but I think getting the word out there is better for business. I may still though. I'm not sure. Please stay far away from them, for you and your car's sake.

My 26-year-old son bought a car. A month after, he got an email with his policy updated. Esurance had put my husband and I on his policy without our permission? They didn't even contact us to put us on his policy. When we called they said since we all live in one household that his policy would include all of us. I called my insurance company and they said that my husband and I have insurance and didn't need to be on his policy and "no one should EVER put you on a policy you don't know about."
We called back Esurance and they wanted a copy of our declaration page and our ins. cards. So we sent them. They said it's not enough. Our insurance co. said yes that's what the state requires! So I call again (this started in Dec. 2015. This is almost April 2016). Still they won't remove us? My next step is to hire a lawyer. Also, my son has paid extra money for this policy. Beware of Esurance. This is a scam. I gave them proof of insurance and NEVER GAVE THEM PERMISSION TO ADD ME TO ANYONE'S POLICY!!! This could happen to anyone.

My overall experience has been horrible. I've never dealt with a company where no one is on the same page and their superior does nothing at all to make things better. For starters, I was quoted and locked in on my insurance at $153 monthly. Since then I have spoken to 3 reps and my monthly payment is $172 from the initial quote of $139. On top of all that, the whole time, my vin and year of the car was wrong so technically I wasn't insured the week that I've gone they this. I must say, they were the cheapest but to be back my Allstate is not so much of a good look. Moving forward after my current policy, I definitely plan to go with another company. Experience with them has been horrible!!!

The first thing that irked me about this company that I did not like was that they had automatic renewal defaulted. Meaning, If I was not paying attention, they would have started charging me for a new contract a month prior to that new contract even beginning. That's not cool, because I was going to make a switch to another company that was roughly $50 cheaper on a monthly basis.
Three: They have unpleasant customer service line. I had to wait for over 20 minutes, navigating my way through robot this and robot that in order to find someone to talk to about my situation. NO, I do not want to renew. They wanted to know why I wanted to leave them. I told them it was because I do not like their services anymore, and I found better deals elsewhere.
Fourth problem, is their dirty tactics to try to get me to come back. I cancelled their insurance, but my plan wasn't up for another 20-some odd days. A few days before the plan being over, I get an email from them saying "Thanks for requesting a car insurance quote. Continue online and see your savings." with the value $79.92 over a link. I did not ask them for a quote. I left them because they were going to charge me $260 a month. When I clicked on the link, it lead me to log into my already existing account with them. The email was a fake, click-bait email designed to get me to go onto their site and reconsider something I have already decided on. The last time I requested a quote from them was at least 7-8 months ago. And the original requested quote was at least double this value.

My husband and I had Esurance when we lived in California and loved its low priced insurance and affordable. We have always had the good driver and usually had the multi-car. When we moved to Oklahoma they didn't have coverage so we have had to go with other companies and we have had to switch twice due to increases because they just slowly creep up. However, now Esurance coverages Oklahoma and we have switched over. We have Allstate which is basically Esurance but apparently they actually give you the Good Driver, and the Multi-Car and a few other discounts.
I have a Alarm on my car and Gps on my car and etc. and with actual Allstate I am not getting those discounts because the agent that I have is telling me "Allstate doesn't really hand those discounts out individually. They do it but you don't really see them." Well I want to see them and I want to know that I am getting them + I have towing and Car Rental and etc.--it's amazing and for HALF the price.
I don't really know why people are saying that they are having problems with their payments considering they take the payment from your card or checking acct. unless you don't have the money in there but you don't send the money into them you have never sent the money into them even when we had them in California they have never sent the money into them.
I am confident that we will be very happy with Esurance. They said the payment would be taken out on the 15th and it was taken out on the 15th and it hit our bank yesterday so that will work really great. :) And you can always call in before it's to come out and rearrange the payment date. I was told by the wonderful lady that we spoke to that signed us up. Hope you all enjoy the Esurance experience as much as I know I am going to.

You may enjoy low sign on rates with Esurance. But they hiked my rate up twice in the first two years. The first was up $15 (not bad) in 6 months. The second hike was up $57.00. No driving record change. Said it was a statewide increase. Thanks for rewarding my good driving Esurance. I'm moving elsewhere.

DO NOT PURCHASE ESURANCE if you are Medicare recipient! Please do not buy their Med Pay or Personal Injury Protection coverages!! Not only do they NOT PAY IN A TIMELY MANNER once claims are accepted, Esurance and its employees MISREPRESENTS THEIR SERVICES, POLICIES, AND VIOLATES STATE STATUTES. Not only did they not pay me, the named insured, they took it upon themselves to pay my benefits to Medicare WITHOUT my written assignment of benefits because they say, Medicare paid my hospitalization when I had a car accident. But isn't that the general reason any person would buy a PIP coverage, to help them with out-of-pocket costs in the event of a disabling car accident???

I signed up with Esurance last year because my previous insurance company raised my rates excessively after the first year. Esurance offered what I felt was a fair rate. I was pleasantly surprised that my 6 month renewal did not include a rate increase. Now, after a year with the company, they raised my rate by $81 for the next 6 month period. No fault of my own! They said I had lost my 'switching over' discount which was 5%. The rest of the increase was 22%+ just because they felt they needed more money. I might add that my state of Iowa agreed with their request! I'm not sure if the state ever denies a company's request. Here's what is so frustrating. This isn't the first time I've switched auto insurance companies due to an increase in rates. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying there is never a need for a rate increase. I'm just more understanding if the increase is in line with inflation and other factors, like driving history, for example.
I am unfortunately seeing a pattern developing with auto insurance companies in general. If, after long hours of searching and finding a fair rate, it appears guaranteed that in 6 months to a year you will see a disproportionate increase in your rate even if you are the safest driver around! I'm retired and living on a fixed income. I did not receive any cost of living raise for 2016. When one bill goes up over 22% for a 6 month period, it's difficult to make budget adjustments. And you know car insurance isn't the only bill going higher! It's sad that the process isn't more consumer friendly in searching for low cost, quality auto insurance. Being a good driver does not mean getting good rates. It should be! But insurance companies come up with other criteria like: where you live, your credit score, your occupation, marital status, education level and more. Anything to use to raise your rates!

My payment was a week late because of lack of funds and I told the rep I spoke to that I would make my payment the following week. The rep said that was OK. They have since cancelled my coverage and request I pay the full starter fee again. When I told them the previous rep said next week would be fine, I explained my financial situation and he said he understood, would make note, but my payment the following week would be accepted. So the new rep then got snippy and said "well I don't see how that's possible but you're gonna have to pay the 400 dollars to reinstate your coverage." I can barely get my regular payment of 157 in a month due to my small paychecks. How the hell can I come up with that much more. Could have been avoided without the miscommunication. Very disappointed. Will never use Esurance again.

Cancelled my policy one month prior to renewal because I got a better price elsewhere. The rep said she would refund $9.00. I said "You charge me $56.00 per month for insurance. I want $56.00 back." At that time she informed me that there is a $50.00 cancellation fee. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Esurance.

I called Esurance before I purchased a policy. I had an accident roughly three years ago. I spoke with a representative and told the rep that I had the accident and was told that they would be calling me back at 5:15 pm EST to finish out the process. So I purchase the policy online and my rates skyrocket because of non disclosure of the accident. I tell them that I spoke with a rep and the first rep I speak with hangs up on me and then the other supervisors tell me that I never called in and even if I didn't it has no bearing on the policy I purchased. I currently don't have the funds to continue to purchase insurance. I will be letting this policy go in a month and hopefully be able to get insurance with an honest company. I will never recommend buying insurance through this company again.

I signed up for an Esurance insurance policy online. After I chose my price/policy, the website told me that it was verifying my consumer report to make sure the price was accurate. After that, I signed up and paid the beginning fee of $418. The company immediately withdrew the money, then a couple hours later, I received an email saying that I needed to confirm my previous insurance policy.
I called Esurance to verify that the price wouldn't change as long as I proved that I had continuous auto insurance coverage. The woman on the phone insured me that they just wanted to make sure I didn't have any gaps in my auto coverage. Then, after sending the information, they informed me that I was going to have to pay about $600 more, because I signed up for a bodily injury package that was different than my previous coverage. I am extremely disappointed in this company, and I don't understand how they can change the policy amount after I agreed to the terms and paid my fees.

I was at first very happy when I got a quote from Esurance it was a little cheaper than my current insurance company and a lot cheaper than any other insurance company in Missouri. But I started doing my homework on this company and on this site I observed customer after customer reviews stated Esurance will hook you with a low rate then raise the rate and renewal. I started to think about the old saying cheaper is not always better. It is the quality of the insurance with price that matters most.
I looked at Liberty Mutual for homeowner's insurance, they were the second best in price behind Esurance. I compared the coverages on the policies and found that even though Esurance was $200 dollars cheaper per year the coverages with Liberty Mutual were much better. Liberty Mutual had a lower deductible on wind and hail, and a $10,000 dollar water backup coverage to name a few. When I added the coverages to Esurance quote to make the policies the same. The cost increased by $400 making them $200 higher. I could not change the wind and hail deductible with Esurance which computed to $3,500 and it was only $1,500 with Liberty Mutual. The bottom line, other customers are correct, beware of the low cost with this company and do your homework, compare the coverages in the policies very very closely. I will not be changing to this company.

In a nutshell, this has been going on for almost a year. I am trying to get them to give me my deductible back. They say Cumberland Farms admitted to 50%. How could I be at fault at all in my lane? The truck, plain and simple just came into my lane and I was squeezed into a snowbank. The car work was pretty much done except for a few dings and the car stereo is defective. I can't directly link that to the accident but it worked fine before it. All I get when Pershing this is tossed from one rep to another. Some were polite others not at all. As far as I'm concerned they still owe me at least the $250. In all fairness they have been quick in getting my auto body place paid. Also as a result, they raised my premium over $100 per month without discussion and then lowered it after Cumberland Farms' admission. All without explanation.

This company is Horrible. They raised my insurance $200 a year for no reason stating their cost of business went up so I have to pay more. They didn't notify me of premium changes since they take it directly out of my bank account. After I called to find out why I wanted to see if there was a way to save some money since my policy renews on the 28th. After waiting 25 minutes on hold I finally got to speak to someone just to be put back on hold again. By the time I got done they wouldn't give me a cost and said I had to go online, make changes and wait two days to see the cost. During that time I hit a deer and they refused to cover it when I paid for full coverage until the 28th. I was told just because you paid for it, don't mean you have it! Beware of this company.

Esurance's slogan "sorta you isn't you, Esurance helps make sure you only pay for what's right for you, not someone sorta like you." WRONG! BUYER BEWARE: Your rates will increase even if you are a LOW risk driver. So their slogan, is completely a lie. When I purchased a policy through them about a year ago (2-3-15), I was ecstatic that between my auto insurance for 2 vehicles and homeowners insurance for our home, we were saving nearly $400 a year. Not bad right? Well, when my first 6 month term can due to renew, they increased my premium by $28 ($56 a year). Despite not having any tickets/accident/claims of any kind (EVER, not just during my policy term with Esurance), I thought, well, ok that's not a huge increase and I'm still saving money. So I let it go.
Then when my next 6 month term was due for renewal (which was just about a week ago), it increased again, but this time making it nearly $200 more a year - just IN ONE YEAR of being insured by them! WHAT?!?! I'm a GOOD driver, yet my rates increase that much!?! So I decided to investigate my homeowners policy as well... and that increased as well!!! So now I was paying almost as much as I was a year ago before I switched to Esurance! I contacted them to find out why the increase and their reason was "...When we have to pay more for claims, unfortunately, we have to raise rates". Um, claims?! Not from ME! So why am I, who is a good driver, with NOT ONE single claim ever made or ticket/violation in my 21 years of driving, paying for someone who HAS made claims, had tickets/violations ... etc. Apparently, "sorta you" IS you no matter what with Esurance.

On a Saturday (2015) I needed car insurance. I called everywhere and remembered an email that I received from ESURANCE promising a low rate. I explained to them about a car accident that I had back in 2014 and a speeding ticket I had back in 2012. I explained to them that my car was registered in NC. They sent me over to a NC Agent but when I told the NC Agent that I was in NJ working I was then transferred to NJ Agent. With this NJ Agent I was quoted at $858. The NJ Agent ask for my address and I gave them the NJ address and they found about 8 other names that had used this same address that I was staying at. When the agent saw this I was told that my policy can possible go up to over $2,489. They ask me who those people were. I told them that they were relatives who at one time lived there but were no longer living there and that they were not driving my car.
The agent proceeded to ask me if they had their own car and if so who was their insurance carrier, how old were they, did they have their own policy and if so for me to get a copy of their policy. Ex: how much their policy was and fax it over to them. Once they received this information then my insurance wouldn't go up from the $800 to $2,489. They then looked at the address that my car was registered at which was NC and saw that the person that I rented a room from was married and their son use to live there. I was questioned about the owners of this home and where was the son and if I didn't produce a bill from this home preferably an electric bill then my policy would go up. They gave me two weeks to produce this information.
A month later I got a letter stating that if they didn't get the above information my next payment will be $2,489. When I saw this amount I cancelled my policy. I was told that I have to pay a cancellation fee. I was like "for what?" I was told that I was in a $1,500 contract with ESURANCE. I told them that I never heard of being in a contract with an INSURANCE Company. I was told that my policy was a NC Policy.
I then spoke with the Underwriter by the name of Lateefah. While on the phone she went over my policy from the beginning and saw that my policy was opened underneath NJ. About two weeks after my policy was opened it was then change to a NC Policy without my knowledge and now they are trying to get a CANCELLATION Fee from me. I don't owe them anything - they owe me for signing up with them. I am saying this loud and clear - do not sign up with them. They will rob you blind with false information and knack at taking your money. If anything can be done I'd like for this company to be looked into and for them to stop emailing for any monies that they think I owe them when they really owe me.

I own a Mercedes. One of the requirements if you lose the keys is to get the car towed to the dealership. My ordeal started at 9am in which they schedule a tow for 11am. All was explained in the tools that would be needed some type of dolly, due to the keys being lost and no access to the inside of vehicle. First tow driver, had no idea he was suppose to have the equipment and told me it was nothing he could do and I need to call my Roadside assistance and road off "Auto Access Towing". Call Esurance back, had to explain from start to finish, they scheduled another tow with the ETA of 2:05pm "Metro Atlanta Towing Service LLC". Tow driver arrived, stated he had the equipment but it is broken and I needed to call their office. They stated they had a truck that could come and be to me in 20 to 30 minutes. I am still waiting on this truck and it is now 5pm.
I called Esurance and had to explain the situation from start to finish each time I called. I have spoke with them over 6 times today no exaggeration. If and when the tow comes, that would be great as the Mercedes parts department closes at 6pm. I recommend you not use this company for roadside assistance. I will be cancelling this coverage and purchasing AAA Platinum as soon as I turn the keys in my car. And because of my experience with this I fear if I ever got in a collision, so I will also be looking for another insurance company. Very Dissatisfied.

They said because I had been involved in a car accident. This was a no claim, no fault, no ticket accident! But they used it against me and all of a sudden, I didn't qualify for their safe driver discount even though it wasn't my fault! I haven't even had a speeding ticket in 20 years! They were still a few dollars cheaper than Elephant Auto so I signed anyway, only to be charged a 7.00 monthly installment fee! So they charge me 7 extra bucks a month because I have to pay my premium monthly??? Then a week later, they call me to say they see it was involved in a car accident a few years ago and they needed to reexamine my policy!
I told them that I JUST went through explaining this when I accepted the policy the previous week! The lady said, "well it's only going to raise your premium by a dollar." And I told her that one dollar was a dollar too much since they already penalized me by refusing to give me the safe driver discount! I should've cancelled my policy then because 5 months later, I get my new renewal amount for the upcoming policy renewal and they've snuck in a extra 70 dollars! And nothing has changed on my end, no tickets, no accidents, nothing! This insurance company is sneaky and costs way more than it's worth! Ironically, their ad popped up when I came to this site for their reviews! Seems like they lure you in with low rate then slam you with frequent, unjustified increases. Kinda like "bait and switch" tactics that brick and mortar stores use. Poor customer service as well. When I tried to get quote from Allstate directly online they collected all my info and then said they couldn't find a record of me... No new claim had been made against me. When I asked about a claim I had dealt with them on, it took them 4 months to send someone out to look at my car like they offered to do!!! They also said the reason it might of gone up was because auto insurance went up 6% in Massachusetts. Funny I don't know anybody's who's had.
I refused to pay it and they didn't help me fix the problem, so I got cancelled due to non-payment. Which means in the state of Mass, I can't get auto insurance without paying a whole year in full now. So needless to say I had to sell my car and still don't have insurance! When I called I have told them I didn't even know who those people were they were making me add to my policy and they said they can't find any other address for them so they couldn't remove the information and I needed to add them. Stupid assess!!! Why would I add people I don't know on my policy and list them as drivers??? They try to sound smart but every time they opened their mouths, they sounded more stupid!!!
Then, they raised my premium $28 coz they said the "online shoppers discount" I was getting ended and no one's told me about it. They said it was part of my policy renewal and that I should've read and knew about it. I told them as many times as I went over it with their customer service, we've gone through my policy and discounts I was getting and no one ever mentioned this "online shoppers discount" that was going to end in 6 months so they refused to credit any of it! They accused us of having a business of selling vehicles. We don't have a license for a business. All I did was trade in one of my vehicles to a car dealership. I think he might have sold one of his old vehicles and taken it off the insurance. I'm not very sure cause we don't live together but he told me that he still has his cars. Glad I will be going to a better company. I wouldn't recommend Esurance to anyone.

I am unsatisfied as a loyal Esurance customer (auto and renter policies) with the entire process involving my burglary claim on Oct 23, 2015. It's now December and my claim still is not processed. I have been a auto Esurance customer for nearly 6 years. Since I have been using their services I haven't had any problems until now. I decided to purchase their homeowner insurance because of savings and the history that I had with them as a customer. This was a bad decision. My home was broken into and I received the worse customer service and lack of professionalism from the claims department. They do not properly return phone calls or update you on your claim. I provided all the pertinent information that was requested of me in a timely manner, and this situation still appears to be unresolved.
My documents were said to be submitted twice for payment processing but I'm still waiting. I also experienced computer submission mishaps. After loading everything in I was told that the item list was not found. I had to resend pictures of receipts and items via email. This has been a devastating situation to go through for my daughter and me. Having to move twice due to the burglary was nowhere in my plans. With Esurance being a reputable company, I had the strong belief that this situation would have been resolved in a timely manner.
I was very appalled by the questions that I have been asked during this process such as: do the police have any suspects and were there any witnesses? I feel that those questions were irrelevant and had no bearings on the fact that my personal items had been taken from my home and personal space invaded. Clearly, there is a police report of proof that my home was burglarized and my possessions were taken. These questions should be directed to the police. I pay for both of my policies faithfully and on time. I can only expect a prompt resolution. I have been more than patient through this process. I am really displeased with my services. I will not recommend this insurance to anyone. The customer service is awful.

I was shopping for auto insurance prices and came across Esurance offering a lower price ($1300/6m). Was cheaper than what I was paying originally ($1800/6m) from a different insurance provider. I was asked to submit my old policy documentation to Esurance to confirm that I had continuous coverage so I faxed my old policy documents. Right after my coverage started with Esurance, 1st day I got an email that the price was $1800/6m instead of $1300/6m based on the coverages I had with my old insurance provider.
When I reached out to customer service, they said that I still had to pay 10% cancellation fee of the 6-month pricing and insurance rates are adjusted based on the coverages you have and are seen as a risk driver. I would avoid Esurance right after the coming 6 months are done. Never would take a policy of any sort with them. If there was going to be a price bump, you better inform the customer what they will pay based on all documentation Esurance receives. This is a ripoff and would advise anyone to avoid Esurance.

After I updated the policy I sent an email inquiry asking if I was eligible for a partial refund on the car I cancelled because I had proof that it was sold and insured to someone else. I never in any way asked them to touch my policy. Someone misinterpreted the question in my email at Esurance and went ahead and cancelled my policy immediately without even calling me. I only found out luckily because I saw an email stating it was cancelled. I called customer service and they admitted fault claiming someone misinterpreted my request. She sounded like she was not too familiar with the steps required to get my policy backdated. She also told me horror stories about car repossession in NY state because people got pulled over with lapsed insurance coverage.

I tried to get an explanation without success so far - after switching insurance companies has a negative impact on your credit score and insurance history with higher costs long term. I was filling now a complaint in my state against Esurance. So be careful when you switch to Esurance. I believed that this is a reliable and honest company but it seems I was wrong with this assumption. I can't rate their other services and how good they are in case of an accident. At first Esurance offered a lower rate than my previous car insurance. They took first and last payment for my 6 months term, which I was ok with because I was saving a few dollars. They asked for a "renewal payment" 2 months prior to my term ending. Why? Every other company takes your renewal payment at the time of renewal. I found this quite annoying considering that my new rate was a lot higher ($169.00 to $208.99). Why? I hadn't had any accidents or incidents, clean driving record, no tickets. I called to question why did my premium go up, the agent (which seemed very bored when speaking to me) told me that my "new customer" discount no longer applied. When I asked about any additional discounts that may be applied she went on to tell me that insurance rates never go down and they ALWAYS go up. In her words "it is a myth that insurance goes down with time". Really? Then why was I able to find better coverage elsewhere?
I waited to submit my renewal payment because I was very unsure of wanting to renew with them. My worse mistake was submitting my renewal payment without double checking quotes with other companies. The same day I renewed, I also got a call from another insurance company quoting me a lot lower than Esurance, of course, I took it. I then called Esurance to let them know that I was going to cancel with them. They told me that I would get a refund for the amount that I had submitted with a small penalty, LIES!!! I ended up getting a mere $74.00 of the total amount I had paid them. I lost $134 for 24 hrs of coverage and to top it off the agent nor the manager cared enough to make this right. All in all they STOLE my money and I will NEVER go back to them, especially after reading how bad they are in paying out for repairs.

I am very unhappy with the recent experience I've had with this company. I live in New York and this past winter was a very bad one. I was coming home one night from work and my car skidded on a patch of black ice and I hit a mound of snow in front of my house. My whole front bumper was cracked. My car at the time was a lease that had to be returned very soon. I didn't have the money to pay for it out of pocket. We have car insurance for a reason, for incidents like this.
I submitted a claim with Esurance to have the bumper fixed before I had to turn the car back into Nissan the next month. I was told when I submitted the claim that it would not affect my insurance premium in any way. Needless to say, I ended up having to pay a thousand dollars for my bumper because Esurance only sent paid 23 dollars towards the claim I submitted. They sent my auto body shop a check for 23 dollars. Last week I got my renewal premium for the next 6 months...
My insurance rates went from 229 a month to 479 a month all because of that one claim. I am now considered assigned risk again at 27 years old with an absolutely clean driving record, no prior accidents, no tickets. I have shopped around for quotes with different companies and I am now "blacklisted" with every single company. Some don't even want to even give me any coverage. So now, I am paying almost 6 thousand dollars a year for insurance all because of a 23 dollar check Esurance sent me. I am absolutely disgusted and wouldn't recommend this insurance company to ANYONE.

Their first mistake of many was that they double sent me driver's tracking device and wanted to charge me for the extra one even though I returned it. Then went up on rate saying the driver's device wasn't connected even though you could log on and see that it was tracking every move. Went on for days them saying corrected, then it would start all over again.
At renewal they went up on premium even though no accidents, tickets, nothing. When I cancelled, they returned only partial amount of what they withdrew, saying they would return when device returned then got email saying they were going to withdraw even more. They will ask you to provide them with all kinds of living records (even your spouse died 4 years ago!), proof of "non-living" family members - for some reason they asked me to have 5 people records showing that they have some insurance, despair the fact nobody lives with me (why not 20??)! Or even copies of your passport or SS#... And all this is covered under "state requirements or federal law." Just nobody could gave me exact name or guideline of such as excising. I purchased car insurance with SR-22 coverage with Esurance on September 5, 2015 with coverage to begin on September 12, 2015 to March 12, 2015. The state of Missouri Requires Esurance to send proof of coverage to the Missouri Department of Revenue with beginning and ending dates of coverage. Esurance could not handle this small detail and sent proof of coverage with NO beginning and ending dates. From Missouri's point of view this is "Invalid Coverage".The department of Revenue notified me again and I contacted Esurance. AGAIN. Esurance once again they sent proof of coverage with no beginning and ending dates. Once again Missouri Department of Revenue notified me my license was being suspended for failure to have a policy in effect with beginning and ending dates of coverage. So once again, Back to Esurance.
After going through the phone tree 7 times in 2 days, getting cut off by useless but annoyingly polite representatives who did not have the power to authorize a simple fax (faxes have to be sent by the fax center) and a fax center that cannot include beginning and ending dates because they don't have such forms, I had to have a copy faxed by an Esurance Supervisor to a local library and drove 2 hours to the state Capitol to personally hand a copy of the proof of insurance with beginning and ending dates. Total time involved in obtaining a perfunctory detail performed? 31 days, 17.5 hours, 376 miles, approx $50 gas and numerous headaches. You would think an insurance company would know the importance of beginning and ending dates for Coverage. It is so basic it should not even be capable of doubting that a form could be created WITHOUT this information. It is tantamount to leaving the name of the insurance company off the policy.
Oh, I forgot? If it were one bungled phone call, I could understand, but this is endemic, pervasive incompetence in every facet of the insurance business from answering the phone, to creating documents, to understanding needs and legal obligations, to troubleshooting and transmitting documents. I don't care how cheaply you provide insurance coverage, if you cannot deal with the actual details of the business, it is useless paper, no more. Imagine having to make a claim of a serious consequence with such inept people on say a family members injuries and hospital bills, just the type of aggravation you need in such a circumstance. If they cannot handle simple paperwork I cannot believe they can handle the more serious aspects of this important business. I mean seriously?

Esurance had the cheapest rates for our auto & home (2 adults in Ohio w/ 2013 & 2000 vehicles, no accidents, decent credit, & inner city home location). I made it clear I am selling the vehicles that have been covered for the past five years and was told I would be able to cancel without penalty once I sold the cars. A few days later I was called and after lots of explanations was ultimately told I was being cancelled.
I have tried for over a week to have Esurance's underwriting dept. Simply apologize for giving me the run around for more than a week and was told today I would be better served following up with my attorney. Normally I would not let something like this get to me, except I was accused of "brokering cars". It was DISCOVERED I had 3 additional drivers I was allowing to use my vehicle's without including them on the policy and I was using my personal policy for commercial purposes, all of which is provably untrue. I did as I was advised by the so called licensed agent when I clearly explained what was happening at the time I made changes to my policy.
Oh yeah, the final kicker! Until last week, I was maintaining the higher levels of liability, 100/300 on a four cars under the policy. When making the changes, I lowered the limits to 15/30. Hmmm, can't help but wonder what the real risk is Jen and Him are talking about? I can tell you do not seek any advice from the so called licensed agents with Esurance now "backed by Allstate" not unless you are willing to take the blame for Esurance's lack of knowledge. Perhaps they are still in the toddler stage and feel it to be an acceptable practice to hire inexperienced agents to bind their policies. Just the same warning. Read the fine print on your policy. My Dad an "unlisted driver" on the policy (because he drives the kids around in my van 3-4 times a year while visiting b/c of kid cars seats!) tapped a ladies bumper in construction bumper to bumper traffic. The lady went crazy and immediately made a claim for pre-existing damage that my dad did not cause. It was easy to see it was below the level of the van bumper. So stupid. I am not sure but I think Esurance paid the claim with zero investigation - which would have easily shown my car did not cause the damage. At least I think they did. I never received a resolution to what happened. I feel like they were not an advocate for me at all. SO. I also jumped through all these hoops to the EXCLUDE my dad from the policy (can't drive the car anymore which is a pain in the ass). So my next premium the premium DOUBLES.
I call and get the run around. Something about losing my "no claim discount." Even though I wasn't the driver and they can SEE on their stupid Drive Sense tracking device (that literally tracks everything my car does) my dad was going about 1 mph when he tapped the ladies bumper and my tracked driving history is beyond excellent. But no. That means nothing. So screw it. Switched to Progressive who gave me a cheaper price and better coverage. Just so annoying and who has the time for this? I am glad my 35 years of excellent driving history is ruined in their eyes by one ridiculous specious claim where I wasn't even driving. Whatever. Before the policy got to the cancellation day, we had a claim. I had taken over two months to get the claim settled and we are still in battle. You can send them invoices and they make no comment. They only want to pay what they want to pay. Before the cancellation day, we had yet another loss due to a wind storm demolishing a out building. They wanted to give us a ridiculous figure for replacement. In other words, a low ball. That has been dragging on for over a month now. It seems when you send them invoices and or communication, photos, etc. etc., they simply do not read them or if they do, they don't care and it takes them over a week to respond.
Any other insurance company I have ever dealt with will at least send a response to let you know if they received something and are investigating. We got estimates for the demo and haul off of our building. $1,500.00 for the project. They allowed us $385.00. That is barely enough to cover the cost of a roll off. We continued to battle on other material and labor costs. All in all, they only wanted to allow us $19.88 per sq. ft. for demo and rebuild costs. The national average is $39 to $40 per sq. ft. to build. This doesn't account for demo or excavation. I talked to a representative from our state's insurance commissioner's office. That person said it sounds like they are trying to lowball us and encouraged us to report the incident.
Since that time, and, in a matter of less than one minute, in my email, I received a billing notice, a reinstatement notice and another cancellation notice. I visited with the state on this issue and they said it sounded very fishy. The communication level with any of the claim handlers to say the least is unacceptable, slow and non-descriptive of what they are doing to handle your claim. Welcome back American Family!

I applied for an online quote. Contrary to what they claim, the lowest price they quoted me was $15 more per month than I'm already paying with State Farm, so, obviously, no way. Two days later, one of their sales people left me a voice mail. Today, I got a postcard from them! So I called them to be removed from their mailing list, which I had no intention of being on in the first place! I reached a person right away, however, he immediately put me on hold when I asked to be removed from their mailing list. After about 3 minutes, someone else picked up, and SHE placed me on hold, for a good 9 or 10 minutes! Finally, she said I was no longer on their mailing list. This is absurd! All I wanted was a quote, not a huge hassle!

Esurance offered the lowest quote of 6 insurance companies I submitted requests to last month. After no less than 8 email correspondences and 4 phone conversations, we got the policy up and paid. I received a copy of my contract for six months of coverage. It was a little rocky but it was finally complete. That's where it all ended. After I paid (not before) they did a public record search of my address and added two additional drivers to my account. I was told (in a fifth phone call) this was normal, I need to submit the changes online. I was also told to submit a proof of registration* to them ASAP to keep my policy from being cancelled. I've never been asked this before, ever, by any insurance provider.
After making changes to my account, removing one driver who does not live here and after a sixth phone call I was told that registration was "an internal thing," they need to satisfy their underwriters. In my state, vehicle reg and MVR information is not completely public, so they wanted me to "take a picture of my documents with a phone or something, that's what other people do" and email it to them. What? Send a blurry 1 megapixel photo in bad lighting and this is "verifying" my auto? I told them they can go through the state like other insurance companies and emailed them the information request form OTC 762. I then got charged for their records request from the state. I called a 7th time, and argued to have it removed, it was. Today I got a cancellation notice. We have 14 days. My policy ends on a Friday, and my partial refund will be processed 24-48 hours after cancellation. Or, in real life, about 4-5 days.
What do I do in the meantime? Any lapse can be bad... anyone can tell you. I'm accident free for 25 years, that could be the one time something happens (Murphy's law). Or, I could get a ticket, or... any number of things. How will I pay for new coverage during the gap? We just spent enough for six months, now we have to come up with more? Best of all, no reason was given. Thanks, Esurance. Insurance for the modern world indeed.

As my mom's car was parked, it was hit by a person nice enough to leave a note with his info as well as his insurance info (Esurance). My mom had her car towed to the Auto Collision Center in Daly City, CA where the nightmare started. When Esurance got the estimate, they immediately started trying to haggle parts cost with the body shop meaning they wanted the shop to use aftermarket parts to repair the car that their insured damaged. Then asked the shop to lower their hourly labor costs. Who the hell does this? Then to boot they arranged a rental car for my mom and never explained that (she'd) be paying anything which in my experience, the person at fault's insurance company usually covers. WRONG. She got a bill from American Express for rental car insurance for $594.65. Why is she paying anything?
She calls the rental car company and was told she was responsible for rental car insurance even though she was not told this at the time the car was given to her. Then after all the crap they put her through, she gets a call from Enterprise Rent A Car claiming she kept the car one day too long and owed another $27 plus dollars... All this after Esurance made the Auto Collision Center wait until they were satisfied with the parts they wanted the Auto Collision Center to use!

I purchased auto insurance online with esurance. At the end of the session, I provided a credit card number for payment. A couple of days later I checked the posted entry on my credit card statement, and to my surprise, esurance had charged me $120 more than the final quote that I had chosen. (Thank goodness I printed the page(s) with all the choices and figures on it.) When I called customer service to ask about the extra amount, I was told that it was "equity." Huh?!? I'm not exactly new to this planet and I've never heard of an insurance company charging for "equity"! When I questioned it, I was given some vague response about building up equity so the company could make sure all my payments were helping me keep the policy, or something idiotic like that. I was furious! I told the guy to cancel the policy and I would look elsewhere for auto insurance.
I then immediately called my credit card company to dispute the charge, explaining that esurance had tacked an unauthorized amount onto the purchase. The cc customer service agent listened and asked if he could get esurance on the line in a 3-way call so they could explain what they'd done. To make a long story short, the esurance guy finally agreed to cancel the policy and said the credit card charge would be refunded. The cc agent agreed to drop it from my cc bill. So far, neither has been done, but then it's only been 3 days. I'll update this in a week or so if I'm still on the hook for the policy and/or the credit card charge. I'm writing this now to warn potential customers that cheap insurance may not be all that cheap! And if you buy online, PRINT EVERYTHING, and then check your credit/debit card for the charges!

After being a Geico customer for 15 years with little activity other than OTHER PEOPLE hitting my car, they increased my premium to a ridiculous amount. I left and went to Esurance whose premium was considerably lower. Been with them 1 year. My beloved car has seen the end of its days and time for a new one. Upon the decision to purchase, I called Esurance for a quote on this newer car (2006). When the premium came back very reasonable, I made the decision to purchase the car. NOW the Esurance madness began. Not picking up the car till this Sat so don't need insurance till then. (Why pay more for days I don't need?) Called back. Oh... "Quote only good for 24 hours" so now it was $100 more. What?
Then told "Well I can't give you a temporary unless it is 24 hours so I'll have to get approval. So, why not call on Friday for the Insurance for Saturday." Ok, tried again on Wed and then again on Thursday. In fact on hold right now after 3rd Thursday call. Each time the premium went up! 24 hours. Really... I called within same 1 hour went up $100. So now the premium which was $1,200 went to $1,500 and NOTHING was different, same car, same state, same requested coverage. NOTHING. When I asked for an explanation, "Oh it comes from our manufacturer." WHAT? As far as I am concerned, I'm paying YOU. I expect you to provide me with an explanation of why in 1 hour the premium went up and in two days went up to $300 for no reason? Naturally I'm on hold not getting anywhere. So I'm writing here to warn people. Dumping this insurance company and contacting my state's attorney general's office.

In my opinion this company is horrible, my debit card was compromised and caused a lapse in insurance with Esurance. I was unaware of this and never received a notice in the mail. They did send email notices, which conveniently enough went to my spam box. I spoke on the phone with an agent and supervisor. The supervisor was rude and not helpful, essentially blaming me for not being notified.
I guess Esurance is too hip for a phone call or mail. If I were Esurance I'd hire better customer service folks as the one I spoke with didn't seem to care when I told her that I was taking my business elsewhere - probably not the best type of people to have representing your company. If anyone from Esurance is reading this I suggest you re-evaluate how your company interacts with customers as I will gladly pay more elsewhere to not deal with obvious incompetence. They were trying to extort another $300 every 6 months from me due to what at most would be considered a clerical error.

I was in an accident at the beginning of June. Clearly the other drivers fault - he backed into the side of my car in a store parking lot. When I initially called in the claim the representative apparently mis-recorded the other driver's plate #, being off by 1 letter. I guess it took them over a month to figure this out even though the info they gleaned from this "wrong" plate # didn't match any of the other info I provided them from this accident (i.e. driver's name, vehicle make/model, insurance co.). A month and a half later I get an email reading that basically they may have the wrong plate #. So I called again relating the plate # to which the claim agent says they had the incorrect # and that he would file the claim right away with the correct info and insurance company.
About four days later I get a call from my Esurance agent pushing me to pay my deductible and accept their check because only then will they avidly pursue the other driver's insurance company to accept liability. He goes on to further state the other driver's insurance company has been "sitting" on this claim for some time. How could they be "sitting" on the claim when they just learned about it only four days prior, when esurance finally got the right insurance company to contact. Needless to say I'm still waiting to settle up this claim and have my vehicle fixed. I'm not at all impressed so far with esurance in claim handling. Wished I would have read the reviews before I decided getting esurance a year ago.

I have had a policy for 15 years with esurance with an excellent record and I carry excess coverage... I believe in insurance. I was sent to Hawaii to work on a project for 18 months. I rented my house, put my things and car in storage near my house and flew to Maui to do the work. I purchased a new Nissan Versa while there and added it to my esurance policy online. After paying for both cars (max coverage) for about a year, esurance asks me if my "tenant name here" is driving my Nissan as well. I said, no, he is living in my house in California, so that is probably the confusion. I remind them of my address (which has been on my policy the whole time I have been in Hawaii) and they freak out: “WE DON'T COVER HAWAII!!!” They tell me they are going to drop me immediately. I ask them for 72 hours so I can get coverage. They agree. (I mean, who is acting like the professional adult in the room here?)
I get Island Insurance (Honolulu) to jump through hoops to get the forms run for me so I can sign them on Maui. Done! I let esurance know they are in the clear and they can remove the Nissan and all we have is the BMW. I ask, since it is in storage, “Is there a reduced rate?” I mean, it hardly needs collision or liability now... Them: “WE DON'T COVER STORED CARS!” I am thinking: you know, your people should start reading the notes on the account and listening to their customers because you have been taking large sums from my checking account for two years now to do that very thing. I say, “well, if you give me 72 hours, I'll be back in California, take my car out of storage and drive it and live there again. Project is over.” Them; “Great!”
I get back. Call them up, they tell me my policy will be cancelled regardless on July 21 because get this... I took my car out of the state and they don't know where my car is and because they are an online company, they can't come and verify its location. I said, “How did you know where it was when I first applied for insurance?” He said, “we took your word for it. We are just a computer up here in (some upper midwest state) we don't have any local offices to check up on you.” I said “what has changed?” He said: “we can't trust your word any more. Our relationship is based on integrity and that is now gone.” I said, "my car never left Tracy California. The Nissan I purchased never left Maui." All I am guilty of is being a loyal customer.
I never hid anything. You got careless and ignored what I was writing to you and kept insuring me on products you didn't offer and customers didn't know you didn't offer and somebody got in trouble and I am getting blamed for having an integrity issue? Do you think California or Hawaii DMV would allow unregistered cars to be in other states? You are trying to make me feel I did something wrong? How come your computer system EVEN TOOK the state of HAWAII for the address of my car's location and my home address for the past two years? You had no problem cashing the checks? How about a refund? An integrity issue? I'm the customer! I never even filed a claim you idiot!
What stupid scammer would load two cars up with insurance in states that aren't covered and then not file claims? I have an integrity issue and you can no longer trust me to tell you where my cars are located!!! I have been telling you for two years but you just bothered to read my address...maybe you are too automated! And, I believe that you "were born online" because had you been born to real parents they would never have raised you to tell a loyal customer that "the company can no longer trust you." I don't know why I am so insulted and outraged. It is actually starting to be hilarious.
Great, big, giant, eSurance... Awww. I hurt its feelings. It can't trust me... that computer, plugged into some outlet up in Minnesota or somewhere, it is pretty vulnerable. It has to trust us to tell it where our cars are because it can't get around to check. It’s just a giant computer. Now it can't trust anyone anymore. I mean... customers can just take their cars and well, do anything with them now. It must be making it defrag all the time! They told me that *living in California* would increase the price but finally they came up with the reason, which I took a survey and told them I doubled the annual mileage use. I do not remember taking that survey! They updated the mileage information and told me that new price offer will be updated in 24 to 48 hours. My answer will be no! I had Farmer's Insurance for years. I loved my agent and he was by far the only reason I had stayed with them for so long. But, in 2014 my car/home insurance skyrocketed. I decide it was time to shop around. I checked rates at Progressive, State Farm and a few others before calling Esurance. The amount of money I was able to save was ridiculous. I'm relatively informed on insurance and made sure I had the same coverage as I had with Farmer's. Between car and homeowner's insurance I am saving around $2500 a year. Every person I have ever spoken to with Esurance has been kind and helpful. I do miss the personal relationship I had with my previous insurance company agent but I understood that I would be giving up this service when I chose to leave Farmer's for a strictly online/over the phone company.
I have not had to experience the claims department with Esurance. Only customer service. But, again, I feel like I am informed and being informed can help a great deal with insurance companies or any other business for that matter. Point in fact, during my time at Farmer's, prior to my favorite agent, my parked car was hit in front of my house by a driver working late and had fallen asleep driving. It totaled my car, hadn't even had it 30 days. The other driver's insurance company offered me $2000 less than the payoff for my loan, I did not have GAP. We battled for a few weeks about actual market value and ended up receiving $2500 MORE than my loan payoff for my car. Then I needed to add third driver and the price went up ruffly $50 bucks. Then they send me this device - Drive Sense. I got it by clicking on something not really paying much attention. I check online pros and cons about it and decided to run for a while and see if it worth or not. At some point a received email saying - "The device is not installed. Make sure we have data from it in the next 3 weeks, otherwise the premium will be increased, based on removal of the discount." Ok, good. so I have checked it, plug it, looks good to me.
Yesterday, I was trying to lower my coverage limits to the most basic ones and gain some money from the premium. I did that online and it showed something like approx. $40 less, but the change needed to be approved by their rep. Good. So this morning I wake up and hopppppp, my premium went $40 up?! What a surprise? I have email them and ask, why? The answer was - "We do not have data from the Drive Sense." After work, I have spent half hour with ** and another specialist for this technology and the explain what was the problem and reverted the charge, reset the device. It was taken care of in the way I was imagining. Then we talked about the premium and ** explain, that lowering the limits will in fact increase the premium, because I must have some very rare discount based on driving records (no accidents, credit score and previous insurances).
This guy was friendly, helpful and I was surprised on the end of the talk with him, because all this complaints here state the opposite. I am 68 years old; drive LESS that 8 miles per day and have NO tickets, and NO violations. When I called them on May 13 they said the DEVICE was not working so I went to the local dealership and they checked and said it was working. SO they reduced my rate to the ORIGINAL (without discount) rate and said I was NOW getting a "Discount". Then my car started dying, over and over in the dead of winter and I was having to be jumped off to get to work. Another battery change and still the same thing kept happening.
The people that looked at it said I would have to have the wiring system checked to find the source that kept draining the battery and possibly I needed another alternator but first check the wiring. I took it to the local Chrysler dealer after the other mechanic could not find it by taking out all the fuses and then re-installing them and they began the expensive wiring check... then; VOILA!! It was the DRIVESENSE device and once removed the car is back acting perfectly. The DEVICE was a CONSTANT drain (night and day, hour after hour) on the battery! Now they tell me they OVERLOOKED giving me my proper discounts and if I send them copies of the bill from the dealership they would like the OPPORTUNITY to make it "RIGHT!"
I no longer believe anything they say; as I just looked and my next renewal has gone up another 7.00 per month. A SAD commentary on the GREED of Insurance Companies and had I KNOWN that Esurance was a division of ALLSTATE I would never have used them anyway!!

I got in a car accident on Feb 13th 2015 and it is now May 28th 2015. Esurance has done nothing to help resolve my case. My truck was totaled causing motor damage and obviously cosmetic damage which made the vehicle unsafe to drive all at no fault of my own. This happening during a long move from nor cal to so cal losing all my belongings in my truck bed as well. I also received injuries to my neck and back which is now causing me pain and issues. My insurance adjuster ** only left me an email stating for me to contact the opposing insurance company and they will handle it. ** never contacted the other insurance company he never relayed information about the case or the police report. The opposing insurance Bristol west had claimed that on that end it was reported as a hit and run on Feb 17th 2015. So on top of it all the person that hit me is committing insurance fraud.
The opposing insurance company (Bristolwest) ** could never get ahold of ** through esurance or the supervisor **. ** through Bristol west is also reluctant to help obviously as he is not my insurance provider he also denies the ability to get a copy of the police report and my Insurance adjuster ** will not return his calls or mine. So needless to say I have had to do all the insurance work myself. Losing time at work and sleep through this extremely stressful situation which still has not been resolved. If anything I hope that a consumer reads this review and decides against going with Esurance.
This has been the worst ordeal I have had to go through and if all else fails hopefully with this review will save someone else from having to go through the same situation. Being stuck with no vehicle and no help. I lost all my belonging and still currently being seen for neck and back problems. Please take this review seriously. It has been the worst 3 and a half months of my life. I am lost and backed in a corner. From this point I assume I'll have to find a lawyer or take some legal action as I can't resolve this myself. I'll post pictures as well as a picture of what was recovered of my belonging which was basically nothing.

Made a payment via my checking account since Esurance does not work with Bill Pay. This payment was never submitted to my bank. I called Esurance 3 times in 36 days and explained the money had not been removed from my account and it still says paid. CSRs state, "No worries, it says paid." 36 days later, my policy was cancelled. I get on the phone and make the payment by way of debit card. My other payments went thru fine due to being paid on the debit and not a transfer of funds. So at this point they have 63.00 and 80.00 and they keep telling me there is a credit.
I have received 3 different payment plans for my new policy and they are unable to apply the credit to the policy, and would like me to pay the policy premium again. After spending 2 hours on the phone with them yesterday and 1 1/2 hrs today and still being told they can not apply the credit, I have cancelled my policy with them and have requested the money be returned for the upcoming renewal.

Here's my experience. Gave a quote with all my info. including MV record. Made a payment. Next day raised the policy by 25%. Day after raised it by another 25%. Called to cancel and was charged $50. So paid a total of $65 for 4 days of coverage. After looking at online reviews they seem to use this bait and switch scam on most people. They may be within them but what they're doing is wrong.

I first signed on as an Esurance customer in 2012. From that time on every time my policy came up for renewal they raised my rates; even though I had NO tickets or claims. Once my truck was paid for I reduced my coverage to liability only and the rate dropped FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS. After that the rate increase scam began again until finally it was almost double what where it started. Again, I've never gotten a ticket or had an accident. I went to cancel my policy, (I found one with full coverage for half of what Esurance wanted) and it took 20 minutes with a rude abrupt clerk who asked me what company I was going to and I told him. He then proceeded to use the wrong company name THREE times during the conversation. He asked how much my new payments were going to be and I told him that wasn't important and he snapped, 'well it is to me'.
Finally we were finished and I found the cancellation document issued on 5-6-2015. In the document it says "Esurance will process your credit within 5-7 days. Please allow up to 30 days for your financial institution to credit your account." Now to me that means that by 5-14-2015 the credit will be issued. Ah no, you see Esurance means nothing that they say. I emailed them and asked when things would be taken care of and I got this back - "Your refund of $xx.xx will be issued once your policy is canceled on 05/17/2015. You will then receive it within 10-14 business days from 05/17/2015. " Now run a business and in the past we've had to issue refunds, IT NEVER, EVER takes 2 weeks to get it to the customer. I'd strongly suggest that if you are considering buying insurance from this company that you look elsewhere.

Gave them every piece of information known to man. Answered every question honestly. Ask questions of my own. Bought a home so I was in the market for multiple policies. Wouldn't you know that just days before I needed insurance to start, oh wait the quote was incorrect. Imagine that. Then I did not like the payment date, I wanted something else. So I was told to make the first payment and then I could change to the date I wanted. Called today, found out that was lie number two. Talked, rather wasted my time with supervisor. Then called backed and was actually told a different date by the same guy not more than 10 minutes prior. I pray that I never need to use this company for anything other than confirming they're liars. I'd hate to give them anymore opportunities to confirm it.

The son of their insured hit our car on 17 Apr. It is now 14 May and they have not done anything. Their adjuster is always out of office and she will not call back. I have sent the call record from the police station and we have not heard from them.

A car owned by ** and insured by Esurance crashed thru my yard destroying my fence, deck and storage building and grass. Esurance refuses to pay for it as the owner whom I talked to at the scene of the accident, went home and reported the car stolen 1 hour after the accident. The keys still in the car along with her house keys. The driver jumped out and ran. Now I have to hire a lawyer to get my property repaired. This sucks, I would never recommend Esurance to anyone.

My boyfriend and I bought a car last year in 2014, we needed insurance so we went with Esurance. We got our quote of $133 a month and was like "okay, we can do that." A year goes by with no issues, no tickets or accidents and all of a sudden we get this charge from them for $1046. We called them to find out why we were charged this amount and between phone tag and nasty attitudes they told us that they recalculated our policy do to the fact of the mileage on the car. Our 6 month policy was $780, after this so called recalculation it went all the way up to over $6000 for a 6 month policy. We were never contacted cause if we were we would have cancelled on the spot! I would stay clear of this company.

Esurance has the most deceitful claims representatives I've ever encountered. ** has been purposely stalling to settle my claim (**). Therefore I have filed a claim with Calif. Dept. of Insurance with all of our email correspondence. We are FINALLY in the final stages of my claim with a little help from my email with the attached document I filed with Dept. of Insurance. Now we're waiting on the "legal department" to approve my release. Hopefully this post will help finalize the process.

Although, they offer discounts and are pretty reasonable on their rates. Never file a claim!! I've had Esurance for 10+ years, and the very FIRST time I submitted a claim, my premium doubled automatically. This insurance company is good at rates, but never file a claim!!

Please do not ever use this company for your car insurance provider - they are horrible. My car's transmission went out and I called for a tow and they couldn't find a tow company to tow me. I was a stranded woman that needed help and they couldn't find a tow I had to finally find one after waiting 7 hours in a parking lot. I had to pay for a tow out of my own pocket after paying this company monthly for towing service. Women please don't use this company - pay more and get a reputable insurance company. I give this company a big fat zero for their services.

I was buying a new car and called Esurance for a quote. They were super friendly and when they offered me a plan that I could not buy, they referred me to company that could fit my needs. If I wasn't poor I would buy from them on Merit alone. It's amazing when a company cares about you as an individual and they sent me to place that I could afford. I wish I could buy from them simply because of their honesty. Once I get into a place where I can afford good insurance they are the top of my list. Thanks.
